Wanted to love this place

By Kate |

I really wanted a great meal and from the reviews expected that. Unfortunately it was overpriced and the food was not great. The “shrimp” in the har gow was some sort of chopped and reformed paste, the sui mai pork was chunky and leathery, as if it had strips of intestine in it. tThe chicken and beef in the stirfrys were slimy and soft as if they had been marinated for two long in msg. Truly awful. $20 for kung po chicken made with thigh meat? Really?? Yuck. The service was good so we left 20% tip but I can honestly say it was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

606 a must stop in Chinatown

By Erika F |

Our family had a wonderful and delicious experience at 606! This is a family owned restaurant with excellent service. The friendly staff was aware of food allergies and were able to accommodate our son who has allergies to nuts. The owner of the restaurant was engaging and made wonderful food suggestions. Our favorite was the soup dumplings and the onion crepes. The sesame fritters were surprisingly tasty! Bonus: The bathroom was very well maintained and clean.

Food was ok, prices high and service lacked.

It was a little cool at night, and it was freezing in the restaurant. Man turn on the heat. People were sitting in coats. They have really nice new comfortable chairs that I applaud them for. But the service was lacking. I felt like the waiter, a young guy, just wasn’t tuned in. They serve family style, but with the sweet and sour soup we had to ask him for bowls so we could all could share. I had to find him when I wanted the check. When he brought back my credit card and the bill he didn’t even say thanks he just put it down and walked away. It just didn’t feel warm and welcoming. It isn’t super expensive but it isn’t cheap either. Nothing is cheap anymore. You have to give five star white glove service if you want people to come back.

Chinatown Dining, My New Go To Place

By Tommy L |

Loved my experience at 606. I am in Chinatown every weekend and am so happy that my friend brought me to 606. We ordered the Simon’s garlic chicken, salt & pepper pork chops, baby bok choy and the milk tea. Every dish was delicious, just the right amount of flavor. The restaurant was spacious and cozy, plenty of room with no customers or staff bumping into you. What made the experience even more personal was being greeted by the owner Eugene. He wanted to make sure everything was just right, even serving us water. At the end he asked how everything was. Now that is TLC, not something I experience a lot in Chinatown. 😊 Can’t wait to bring my friends and family to 606.

Best, Chinese restaurant in San Francisco!

By gil |

We have had Chinese food all over the world including Asia. This is one of the best restaurants you can go to. The service is impeccable. The lo mein with vegetables was delicious. The garlic chicken fabulous and the Mongolian beef as well. Spring rolls. Delicious everything! Just the best. Unique andCreative. One of the owners is related to the original owner and he came up and spoke to us so nicely about the corner and the location. The mural on the wall is well done on the outside. It is a iconic building besides the fact that it's amazing food

A clean, efficient and well managed Chinese restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown.

By Jozsef B |

This is a clean, efficient and overall well managed Chinese restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown, basically across the street from the famous City Lights Bookstore. The waitress and the staff are very warm and welcoming, the food is offered in great variety and what I had was fantastically tasty and healthy. If you look for a source of delicious and nourishing food, this is very much the place for you.

Food is pretty solid and tasty - service is fast and efficient - however the food does not hold up well against other tastier restaurants nearby

Great Meal!

By Amanda W |

Our experience at 606 was outstanding! Our server was willing to give us some great recommendations and was very attentive to all our needs. We started with their pork potstickers. They were the largest potstickers I’ve ever eaten and so good. The dipping sauce paired well. This appetizer could easily feed 3. We also had Simons Chicken and the Dry Fry Beef Hor Fun. Both were great but we loved the beef noodle dish. Make sure to use their house made chili sauce for a nice kick! We will be back to try more of their dishes for sure. You won’t be disappointed if you eat at this restaurant.

Do not miss 606

My husband and I wanted to experience authentic Chinese and Hong Kong cuisine during a recent trip to Sam Francisco. Somehow we ended up here and we could not have been more fortunate. It was the best Asian meal and experience we have had. The food was amazing and hard to duplicate. We took a Waymo to and from which was a super add to our adventure. Highly recommend the restaurant, location, and atmosphere.

Absolutely delicious

Love everything about this restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious. Menu has plenty of options with many additional specials offered. All of the food is super fresh. Owners and staff are young, energetic and very welcoming. Facilities are impeccably clean. Prices are really reasonable.

A must go to for Chinese food!

By Lisa |

Please go to 606 if you are in San Francisco Chinatown. Clean, good location and friendly staff. We ordered the Beef Chow Fun and the Tofu with Green Beans. The chow fun definitely had the authentic "wok flavours" you want to taste in the dish. Comparable to Vancouver, and New York Chinatown. Enjoyed talking to the owner, Eugene. Don't forget to try the milk tea!! We will definitely be back!

Perfect food, service and location

By Nat17Nat |

Perfect food and service, the staff were very friendly and chatty. Initially, there was a small glitch with our order, but this was resolved professionally a promptly by the owner. We’ve eaten dim sum in Michelin star restaurants in Hong Kong, and this place has parity. We would definitely recommend the dry fried beef with ho fun, as well as the pak choi. Good sized portions and certainly not over-seasoned. It is obvious that these guys are trying to bring great quality at good value. We wish them luck.

Great dinner option

Food and service were both excellent! I’ll come back the next time I am in San Francisco. I came for dinner based on TA reviews and I was not disappointed.

Excellent

Omg. The food was delicious, service was fantastic. We were greeted so warmly. We were a group of 21 Italian ladies having a meeting / lunch downstairs Will definitely go back with my family and or friends

Kudos to this family-owned restaurant

By Beth A |

Three of us went for dinner. We ordered 3 entrees to share, plus an appetizer. The food was good and the portions were plentiful. I especially liked the onion crepe pancake and Simon's garlic chicken. We learned that this a family-owned restaurant, with the 2nd generation recently taking the reins. The 1st generation had planned to close the restaurant when they retired, but the 2nd generation came together to keep it going.

Do not miss 606 a true gem!

By Mike L |

Restaurant 606 is a rare gem where restraint, precision, and respect for ingredients truly shine. The food is outstanding—not because it’s loud or overworked, but because it allows the natural flavors of exceptionally high-quality produce to come through in perfect balance. Nothing is overseasoned, nothing masked. Each dish feels confident, thoughtful, and beautifully composed, letting texture and purity do the talking. You can immediately sense that this is a kitchen that trusts its ingredients and its technique. The result is food that feels both refined and deeply satisfying, where every component has a reason to be there. Add to that a warm, effortless atmosphere and attentive service, and the entire experience feels seamless from start to finish. Restaurant 606 delivers the kind of dining experience that’s increasingly rare: honest, elegant cooking that respects the palate. Truly memorable—and absolutely worth returning to.

Great evening meal in Chinatown, San Francisco.

By knovis |

Great Chinese restaurant on the edge of Chinatown, San Francisco. We passed many restaurants we weren’t sure about until we saw this place and it looked clean and inviting with lots of Chinese people eating there. The decoration is sparse and it is very modern but it has huge windows overlooking a busy street corner and so lots to look at outside. We were quite late arriving as we had been riding the cable cars and walking through Chinatown but we checked into the wait list and were seated within about 10 minutes. Lovely service. We shared some amazing egg plant rolls which were perfect and some dumplings and a large bowl of chow mein. My husband had a Chinese bottled beer and I just had water. It was very reasonably priced and all delicious. Would highly recommend if in Chinatown.
