Tonight was my second visit here and they did not redeem themselves, so it will be my last visit. The food is uninspired and arrives lukewarm to your table from a server who reaches across another diner to drop the plate in front of you. No pepper offered for salads; no cheese offered for pasta. And the tables are too small to accommodate the dinner plates. For $45 per person, this restaurant needs to deliver more.

The restaurant is a quaint with small tables and chairs. Not the most comfortable. But the food is delicious. Their is quite a variety of options and some specials.

We absolutely love 68 Degrees. It is in a great location in Austin just over the river bridge. There is some outdoor dining as well as indoor bar height long table and small tables. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and fun with friends at this restaurant. The gluten free bolognese is fabulous. We always start off with the shoestring potatoes with aioli mayonaise and some Rose. The family loves bruchetta as well. The parking can be difficult at the most popular times for dining and the service a bit slower then as well but that is to be expected. Reservations are truly suggested.

We love the gluten free Bolognese at 68 Degrees. Last night we enjoyed the Rosemary Cream Crispy Polenta and it was to die for. We always enjoy the atmosphere as well as their team members. Reservations are a must because they fill up quickly. They both a patio and lovely seating indoors. In typical Austin fashion, you can go casual.

I celebrated my birthday here earlier this week with my wife and a friend. I had a cup of Green Chili Stew and the Bolognese. Both set the standard for those dishes in Austin, they are simply delicious. My wife had the Salmon and our friend the Linguini with Shrimp and both got very high marks. Service was excellent and the Kitchen was very prompt.

Service was most excellent. We arrived on Saturday at 6 PM and the place was nearly packed, but were able to be seated at a table for 3. All 3 of our meals were most excellent. We tried the Polenta as an appetizer, which we shared. I had the Calamari putanesca sauce. I ordered it as a joke (with a name like that, look it up), but was pleasantly surprised. My wife and granddaughter both were quite pleased with their dishes. The bill with 18% tip was $115 which included two glasses of wine, 3 meals and 1 appetizer. Quite reasonable for what I would call an upscale restaurant.

We saw good reviews on this restaurant, and decided to come. Great casual place for fantastic pasta. If you eat outside, you can bring a dog. The only dish that was not fantastic at our table was the duck. But pastas and the trout were really fantastic, and prices were reasonable.

I dream about the gluten free spaghetti Bolognese. Is the most delicious food ever. We frequently come here and have some rose’ and a few hors d’oeuvres before dinner. We repeat our visits here time after time. The fries with aioli is fabulous too!

We went for an early dinner and had excellent service and a delicious meal. Our salad was outstanding as well.

We dined here Sunday night and as usual the service and the food were outstanding. I had my usual small bowl of Green Chili Stew appetizer and the small bowl of Bolognese for the main and both were superb. My wife had the Salmon which has changed a bit, it used to come with white beans, but now it has lentils in their place. Her view was it was every much as delicious. The food here is to die for, as good as it comes in the Austin dining world. The staff all seemed new, but service once we were seated by Paisley was prompt, courteousness and professional. The Kitchen was prompt since they weren't that busy. The three star rating comes from three things... One, the host guy kept us standing at the entrance for several minutes while taking a personal call. He even waived off Paisley's attempt to seat us. Two, he seated us in the very back of the restaurant where there are 5 couples tables arranged very closely together. The tables are less than a foot apart. He than seated another couple who were loud, had recently traveled (we could not help but overhear the conversation), and were coughing next to us. We didn't want to dine with them, and that is really your only choice given the close tables so we asked our waitress quietly if we could move. Please understand I didn't want to be a pest and we asked quietly, but in an time of flu and corona-virus we didn't really want to have dinner with strangers who had been traveling who knows where. 3) After a long time (really only minutes but a long time to us given the circumstances), the host guy approached and said in a very loud voice: "I understand you want to move, but the only place I'll move you is the bar or outside". I looked around and there were 5 empty tables in the main restaurant, and I thought why? But we agreed quietly to move outside where we had a delicious meal with great service. When we left there were still three open tables in the main restaurant, so I'm still unsure why we were pushed outside or too the bar. Regardless, we love the food and will go back, but refuse seating in the communal area, we have no desire to catch someone else's conversation or illness.

Visited this little gem prior to a concert and was very impressed by the service, food, and winelist. The entire wait staff could not have been more accomodating, and everything from the mac and cheese balls, authentic caesar salad (anchovies available), and mushroom fetuccini with red sauce were all first rate. Do not be put off by the photos with the white chairs and no table cloths--this is a great little bistro with an intimate vibe and does not have the "casual to go" atmosphere some of the pictures seem to signal whatsover. We will be back with a larger group in tow--ideally on the patio!

We were there early for happy hour and were the only ones there so felt a little exposed at first but it filled in nicely over time and was very pleasant. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere. Our visit was on a dreary cold day but it looked like the outside seating might be nice on better days. Service was great as was the food. No bar - beer and wine only - which worked great for us but might impact others. The only negative was that the happy hour discount was pretty limited. Not sure of parking situation - we did not have a problem since we were early but looked limited. On a nicer day we would have walked anyway since location is easy.

We visited for the first time tonight and the facility make over of the restaurant is impressive. The food is a 5 star experience all the way. The service would be 5 star if the kitchen were a little faster. One of the owners here also owns La Travitta downtown and they serve the same signature Bolognese here. It is the best bowl of Bolognese pasta in town and you don't have to deal with downtown parking to experience it. The Hatch Green Chili Pork stew was divine and if I could buy it by the gallon and freeze it at home I would. I was told by my fellow diners that the Chicken Marsala and the Trout were also quite good. The Trout drew a comment that the meal delivered a great blend of different flavors. The Fried Calamari is quite fresh and lightly breaded. The service was 5 star except for a bit slow kitchen. I predict this one will become one of Austin's best and I know we'll be frequent visitors.

Service was excellent and the menu had varied between standard Italian but also two fish and a chicken main. They offer gluten free pasta so an abundance of choice for gluten free. This is a small and friendly restaurant in an easy few minutes from downtown. My ravioli special was very tastey and perfectly cooked. The green salad starter was also good, even if it could have had one or two more walnuts. Good wine list as well. Independent. Well worth a visit

This casually chic dining establishment is a jewel on Lake Austin Boulevard. Food is fresh, innovative and delicious. The green hatch chili stew is a standout! Dessert menu is a little off the mark, but this is hardly a reason to stay away. The service is attentive. The kitchen is smart. As is the decor. Good for business lunches, couples dinners, and solo dining.

This restaurant has a gorgeous interior and outside covered patio dining area! The aesthetics alone were very nice to have during our meal! We had a reservation and were seated right away. Luckily, the small parking lot was still fairly empty when we arrived, so parking was no issue. We ordered calamari for the group, which was pretty good. Two of us in our group ordered the linguine with shrimp as an entree and the other two ordered fettuccine with the mushrooms. Overall, the portions were plenty but the pasta was average. Definitely ask for fresh Parmesan on the side! The linguine and shrimp wasn't too flavorful, and fairly bland, but it was cooked very well! Would recommend if you are in the area - maybe some of their other dishes are better to order!

We've done pick up here twice since the pandemic hit. The team at 68 degree kitchen has gotten the pick up process down. I ordered both times on the website in advance. On arrival, a quick call, a contact less delivery to my vehicle and I was on my way home with our food. They have figured out how to package the food in a way that it is just as good when you get home as it would be if you ate there. We had the usual: Bologanse- The best in Austin, no question about it, you can get the same dish at La Traviata. I complain when finishing it tat it's gone even though I am quite full. Green Chili Stew- One of the best I've ever tasted and I lived in Alb for 10 years. Salmon- My wife's favorite and a dish she simply calls delicious. Clam Pasta- Another repeat for our family. Every comment is positive. I truly believe this is some of Austin's best food!

Great choice for a business meeting over lunch - quiet, good unobtrusive service. Food was great too! Hatch chili was a favorite, and the rigatoni dish was probably the best pasta I've had all year. Adding this to my list of 'go agains' for sure.

We are regulars at this neighborhood restaurant. The food is always delicous, fresh and lovingly prepared. The staff are so warm and inviting, they treat you like family. Definitely try the Cesar salad and crispy polenta - amazing!

We met some friends here at their suggestion, and were glad we did. The food was uniformly good, and the happy hour discounts on appetizers, starters, and glasses of wine were a nice bonus. Excellent service and free parking.

Old Mangia's location. This has been on our list for a bit but finally recently got there. Made a reservation via OpenTable for 7ish on Friday. I don't think they are needed. Started with the caprese salad. Very colorful tomatoes. I then had the half portion of the spaghetti bolnease. My husband did the beef tenderloin. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted great. I love the half portion option. I really wish more places would do it. Our waiter was attentive. This place will probably become some place we come in the future. The noise level can be really high. However, plenty of parking which is a huge plus in this town. Easy to get to and don't have to deal with the downtown drama.

This was our first time we went for a birthday dinner for our friend. The food was amazing and they had a good collection of wine. Very nice environment. We loved this place

A friend and I chose 68 Degrees as our option for dinner on Christmas Eve, although neither of us knew much about the place. Seating is available indoors and out, but we chose the former, right next to the wall of wine. Service was fairly good, although with some large parties in attendance and a limited number of waitstaff, we had to wait a bit after our meal was finished before getting the check. But the food itself was good and varied - carrot soup and mac & cheese balls for appetizers, three-cheese ravioli and chicken Parmesan for entrees, and finally granita and profiteroles for dessert. Prices are reasonable, particularly for a slightly upscale restaurant.

It was my first visit and yes I was hungry. I tried to be healthy and ordered the chopped salad as my entree. The waitress offered some mushroom soup to compliment my meal. I agreed and it was good but my goodness, put some soup in the bowl. The salad was tasty but on the small side for the price. I should have ordered the special, spicy shrimp with linguine as it looked and tasted good.

Given our great experience at their sister restaurant--Andiamo's-- in Santa Fe, we have been eager to give the kitchen a try. It is not up to the standards of Andiamo, but few Italian restaurants are! Sadly, the executive chef was not in the restaurant the day we were there--that could make a difference. The ambiance is nice for a restaurant at this level--well done, but could use some better artwork (some bigger pieces to stand out in the room). It has ample room between tables and the "open" area is attractive and not too loud. Parking is in front and is shared with other business establishments in the strip. The appetizers are really the highpoint of the meal--not to be missed. The calamari is well prepared. The cheese plate is tasty and attractive. The steak fries with a special sauce is great. The soups are excellent. We had another, but I can't remember the name--it was good. The wine options at happy hour are discounted and they are good. You can get wine by the glass or the individual carafe. The yellow fin tuna entree option is the best choice of all. The others were a little too pasta dominated with not enough of the sauce. They were attractive and very well served. The pasta was well prepared--not too hard, not too soft. The waiter was very friendly--just wish the food was more tasty and less pasta. The group seemed to like the deserts and the port. All in all, we will be back again, but we will probably focus on the appetizers and share a main course to see if there is any improvement. It was a nice meal, but not a great one. The prices are reasonable for the meal--this is not an expensive restaurant.

The food for our Saturday night visit was marvelous. Really recommended the mac and cheese balls. My duck had a really great rub and the others at the table enjoyed their dishes as well. Portions are reasonable, but not overwhelming Wine list was varied and the prices were great. We will go back!

I was very surprised at how good this place was. We had a reservation and had to wait 15 mins past the time we were suppose to be seated. The staff was very apologetic and proactively treated us to a free appetizer. The wine list is fairly robust and our waiter was very knowledgeable able the menu. Both pasta dishes we had were amazing. The Fettuccine with Portabella and Crimni Mushrooms was one of the better pastas I have had and the Spaghetti Bolognese was different but outstanding. Overall very good for neighborhood restaurant.

Friendly, efficient service the ragout with spaghetti was very nice. Lovely atmosphere, no pressure. An intimate feeling. We had pannacotta for dessert. Could have used a drizzle for appearance

We went on a Monday evening. Ordered the Special Peach Salad (where were the peaches?). Since it is peach season I expected it to be loaded with peaches not just a decoration around the edge of plate. Next the Mac and Cheese Balls. My grandson liked them. Then main course. Will start with the Ruby Red Trout OUTSTANDING. Confit duck leg .... Very good... Penne Pasta with house made lamb sausage. Pasta great but lamb, way to strong for me. Will return to try other dishes..

We eat here a lot and the food is always excellent. Last night was no exception- excellent food and excellent service. I had my usual the Pork Stew as a starter and then the Small Bolognese for my main. The Stew was delicious but they have changed the bread it is served with and instead of a toasted french style bread it came with an unappetizing chunk of brown sour dough (I think that's what it is) that really doesn't do the Stew justice. The Bolognese was devine as usual.

We came here when this place first opened years ago and were served such a spotty meal that we stayed away for a long time. Finally we returned a couple of months ago and were much more favorably impressed, so we decided to try the place for a birthday dinner. Our shared appetizer, a crispy polenta square with a rich gorgonzola rosemary cream sauce, was great. After a long pause our entrees appeared--with no sign of the salads we had ordered with them. When this was pointed out they did appear pronto, but it's hard to understand a seasoned establishment making such a rookie mistake. What's more, the pasta under my companion's chicken parmesan was lukewarm bordering on cold (insufficiently hot food is an issue we've noticed before here). I will say that the tardy salads were both delicious. Profiteroles with Amy's ice cream and a rich dark chocolate coating were easily the high point of an up-and-down meal, both food- and service-wise.

This is a small restaurant a bit out of the mainstream downtown. It is cozy and comfortable. The food is excellent and the winelist extensive and reasonably priced. Don't forget dessert - - the profiteroles are out of this world.

Reserved table through Open Table App ... Arrived on time .. Table was ready .. very nice cozy 2 person table next to another another 2 people table ... atmosphere felt like small restaurants in Europe. Menu was very clear, not long but very good selection. Great appetizers, Pasta, Salads, Soups, Fish, Meat. Just right amount to not spend 15 minutes choosing ... Food was delicious, ingredients very fresh and very tasty .. Had parma procicuto with Endives as appetizer ... delicious .. had Duck confit as Entree ... as delicious as in France ... my wife had Spaghetti putanesca sauce .... delicious ... reminded us our trip to Italy last summer .... very very very much recommended ... Staff was very friendly and courteous ..

We dined here to celebrate an anniversary. Our table was ready when we arrived, having made a reservation on Open Table. The wine selection was quite diverse, and some available by the glass (@ $10 a glass +/-). We ordered bread with olives for a starter, and our waitress suggested we also try the polenta, so we ordered that too. And then the wait began. After 30 minutes passed with no interaction with our waitress, I caught her eye and asked if we could get our appetizers, only to be told "they are working on it". Over half an hour simply to put some bread and olives on a plate? (And when those olives did finally arrive at the table there were precisely FOUR of them. Four olives = $2.50. Finally the bread, olives and polenta were served (after approx. 40 minutes) and to be certain, the polenta was worth the wait. The cream it was served with was delicious. My companion loved her trout, and my spaghetti Bolognese ($17) was superb, among the best I've ever tasted, including in Italy. The total dining time was 90 minutes, and we got out of there for about $75, including 2 appetizers, a glass of wine and 2 entrees.

Love this restaurant - outdoor and indoor seating; good reasonably priced food, great service. Easy access. We are never disappointed!

This was our 5th or 6th visit and we have never been disappointed in the food. We have gotten into some what of a rut though. My wife has the on menu grilled Salmon and I can't get beyond the Bolognese. Both dishes are divine, the Calamari appetizer is quite good as well. Since it is so delicious we are thinking of ordering take out Bolognese for an upcoming party. The upgrade comes for service, it was quite professional, prompt and courteous. In my previous review I

I've had really positive experiences at this restaurant and am thrilled it moved into the neighborhood. (I'm a big fan of La Traviata downtown, as well.) I've been here probably 10-12 times. This visit, however, was a bit disappointing, as the pasta (served with chicken Parmesan), normally perfectly cooked, was mushy as if it had been precooked and then reheated. The tomato sauce was uncharacteristically thin; that is, watery almost, and without flavor. The salad was great, as was the stew and wines we had. I hope it was just an off night. I did leave a short comment card regarding the pasta dish. I'll try it again, but it's really too pricey if the quality of the pasta and sauce goes downhill.

Austin is full of foodies. This place on Lake Austin Blvd. is not known for its decor or atmosphere, but it's comfortable, has some parking (more on the street) and in 2 visits has been really excellent. It can fill up when the patio's not used in summer, so make a reservation to be sure. The heirloom fig salad was big enough to split between two and full of ripe figs; both chicken marsala and duck confit were delicious. Wines are good but not cheap: 3 carafes added $50 to our bill. Desserts are enticiing enough to stray from sensible eating, and you'll probably be glad you did! A place to return to.

This little spot is close to downtown. It's noisy but the food is really fresh and delicious. Varied small menu with small plates, salads, excellent entree's and great service. Wine and beer but no cocktails served. We had bolognese, salmon, and braised pork shoulder as entrees. Skip the pork shoulder as it was a little too fatty.

We were a little worried when we drove up and saw that this place is connected to a dry cleaner and next door to a gas station. Our fears, however, we quickly allayed. When we entered the dining room of 68 Degrees-we discovered this place. while quite basic, has a special kind of charm that sets it apart from the vast array of today’s “formula” restaurants. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. What was really special, however, was the food. This was some of the best Italian food I have eaten outside of New York and Italy. Our party of four each tried a different dish, and they were all spectacular! The pasta was perfectly prepared and the sauces were amazing. Even my wife’s gluten free pasta was excellent. The wine list is largely Italian, but the California wine offering was thoughtfully selected and the Frogs Leap Cabernet Sauvignon paired nicely with our dishes. I really can’t say enough good things about our experiences 68 Degrees Kitchen.
Great find in Austin
This is a very small place in an out of the way place in Austin. My wife found it on a recommendation from a friend. The food was fabulous. It was the least expensive and best meal we had in 3 nights in Austin. I had linguine with clams that was delicious and my wife had the bolognese which was the best I have ever tasted. The wine list was not large, but it had quality wines that were not over-priced. This is a wonderful little place. We will go back and you should give it a try.
