Good, But Not Outstanding

By Dominiquecollucci |

The food was okay. Landed on this place because the menu seemed to speak to my foodie side. Food was good, but not outstanding. After the three course meal, I was very full, but not satisfied. First course farm egg was good. Salty. Soupy. Fun to eat. Second course butternut squash was interesting. It was like eating a vegetarian form of Chinese spare ribs. This was okay, but the portion size was far too big for something that was just okay. The squash could have been cooked just a touch more and I didn’t really feel like accompaniments made much taste sense with the main element. Third was the ribeye. Make sure you ask for a serrated steak knife. The one I received was not and it made cutting the steak VERY difficult because it comes medium rare and fatty in the middle. Steak was fine—just fine. Honestly, this place is all about the views and the drinks. If you’re looking to an outstanding meal, I’d says skip it, but if you’re into a good view and great pictures, this could work. Also, the smart casual dress code is really not enforced. Jeans and graphic tee lovers rejoice. Next time, if I do happen to go back, I’m not putting in the effort to dress up.

Without the view, everything is average

By terrijane |

The food was average for an upscale restaurant. We had the wine and food pairings and there was no personalization or conversation with the sommelier. It was pre-matched. Now that is fine, but there is no need for a sommelier if their sole job is to pour a pre-selected wine. You get a 3-course meal. I read that the restaurant was gluten-free friendly. They were not really prepared for gluten-free diners. Even though we indicated in our reservation that I had celiac, I had to educate the server. He then brought us a menu with everything we could not have crossed out. That brought the possibilities down! And of course, the bread server didn't get the memo and brought us bread (this happens all the time in restaurants). I guess I was really disappointed. I thought we would have a spectacular dinner and view. We had an average dinner and a spectacular view.

Delicious food with a fantastic view

By savvy525 |

The menu, the wine selection, the view, the bar, and the location are all excellent! Fantastic restaurant with a gorgeous view. I had the Oyster, Prawn, and the Lamb. All were delicious. The view is great! Did I mention the view is great?!

Amazing view

By Ros_Mel2014 |

The views at 71Above were sensational. We enjoyed the long sunset views of the city. The interior is very stylish and the food and drinks menu was extensive. We sat in the lounge area and were able (after a short time) to get window seats. Friendly staff and great environment. Most patrons were very elegantly dressed which added to the evening. Experiencing 71Above was a highlight of our LA trip.

Celebrating a Birthday

By Netters |

We celebrated my husbands birthday last night here. He chose the Chefs table. It did not disappoint. Amazing flavors amazing plates. The sommelier Kathryn went above & beyond for us. All in all, it was a memorable taste infusion as well as eye candy watching a beautiful sunset.

That view

This is an amazing restaurant with 360 draw dropping views. this is matched with great attentive service with a good menu. Worth going as the sunsets as this makes it even better.

Quintessential LA dining

By Tammy C |

My LA girlfriend took me here as one of the newer 'IT' place in downtown LA. Got the car validated and headed upstairs thru the shiny lobby and two different elevators. The restaurant's incredible view from the 71st floor is its best attribute. There was some confusion when we checked in. My gf made a reservation with Open Table but turned out we didn't have a table. It was an early dinner about 6p and empty at that point. I'm not entirely sure what the issue was but we ended up at the bar for dinner. Once seated, the service and food was great. Dishes are on the smaller size which worked for me. We both had the 3 course meal with different options. The hamachi, artichoke, octopus and lamb dishes were top ones. There's also an extensive wine & drink list. The place filled up after a while - there's interesting people watching. A lot of them were dressed up, or more aptly hardly dressed and there was a fair amount of posturing (LA style). Overall, good for a special occasion (assuming no one is your party is afraid of heights) or client meeting (assuming you can expense it or write it off).

Below expectations

By Harold F |

71 Above possesses spectacular views and the restaurant is beautifully understated without lacking drama. This is an ambitious restaurant, and it certainly has much going for it in addition to those views, the staff is friendly and welcoming and the restaurant has an energy which screams This is a scene, and it is definitely fun and atmospheric but, there’s something missing, and the impression I had was that the restaurant lacks a focus, a purpose of being. Less than two weeks after eating there I genuinely cannot remember a single dish I consumed. Is this a view with a restaurant attached or a dining establishment with an identity and a unique reason for existing? I don’t know. I may not remember any of the dishes I ate but the views live on.

Food not bad but parking a disgrace!

By stephenfL384WT |

Got reservations and was on time. Had a drink and enjoyed the view (as that's the reason you go there).Got a table. Seats are hard but ok. Find out it's fixed price menu. My wife's doesn't eat much and there's not much for her so we go to bar and get a la carte. Still pricey but you're paying for the view. Head Bartendress (manager ) was great. Generally a fun evening even with the food issue but we go to leave and have validated parking but can't get out. Hit the button for help but 20 minutes before someone came. Said they only partially validate so $15 more needed. But, when we went in we were told full charge was $15! Basically, we got ripped off for the parking. Not the end of the world but if you say you validate, I'm expecting you actually validate.

On top of it all !

By JohnWhiteCanada |

I attended a work function here and it was very impressive, I don't think there is a table here with a compromised view of the skyline. The food and service were over the top! The octopus was amazing! Great place to impress your company.

View is good but food taste not good at all.

By Jing L |

During the holiday, I visit this 71Above. View is good, but I saw the staffs were chatting next bathroom. Their bathroom was not clean. Food, looking beautiful, but taste are so so. I ordered Oyster, but it was so fishy! I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone else!

Great view of downtown LA

By joero24 |

I brought my friend at this restaurant just to see the hype about it.The views on top, overlooking downtown is great. I made the reservation at 5:30 pm so we can see the sunset and it was awesome. The staff are congenial and helpful. Always have a smile on their face and approachable. The only downside is the food. It is not bad but not great either. For the price I paid, each serving is so small that I had to eat at a fast food a few hours after ( not that I am a voracious eater ), it just didn’t fill me up. I guess you’re paying for the ambience . All in all, it was still a good experience.

Wonderful Views - Great Lounge - Good Food

By KVM101 |

We dined in one of the Private rooms for a business dinner & we all loved it. Although our party turned out to be only half of what was expected, The Restaurant & Staff were understanding & accommodating. Although the pre-dinner lounge service was a bit slow, they were friendly & not pushy. They encouraged patrons to enjoy the view and the experience. Our Host, Walter, made certain that the service was excellent. The private rooms require a minimum. When it appeared that we might be shy of the minimum, they suggested that we could upgrade to a more expensive wine at no additional charge. They didn't have to do that, but it was appreciated. The servings were tasty. This, most certainly, is a good choice to schedule a special occasion on a clear night

Excellent Service / outstanding dinner

By GK8997 |

Excellent service and an outstanding menu with spectacular view. Many thanks to the chef de cuisine and the whole team in the kitchen. They cook excellently and prepare the food very appealing to the eye as well. We highly recommend the 71Above!!

$71 nonrefundable prepayment required

By 23Feb45 |

It's worth visiting just for the views. For a westerly view, reserve in the main dining room. The "semi-private" dining room faces east. Reserve as far in advance as possible to make sure you get the right dining room (they don't guarantee specific tables). The manager did what he could to help my family celebrate a special occasion sitting at a table we didn't like. It was too close to the kitchen. The three course prix fixe menu had interesting selections. My halibut was cooked perfectly. The desserts were all good. The service was friendly and my waiter displayed an excellent understanding of the menu. I wonder how often it changes. I recommend visiting for the outstanding fine dining and a killer view.

Nice view at sunset

By kiki |

Restaurant with a great view on Los Angeles, perfect for sunset. It’s a very nice place and pleasant atmosphere and food was good.

Spectacular View, Food and Service

By Susan S |

Wow! We booked an "edge table" to face the stunning view of Los Angeles at sunset - what a treat! Our service was top notch and we enjoyed quite a conversation with our waiter. The food quite possibly hit our list of top ten meals ever. The sunchokes were to die for, and the presentation of every course was beautiful. While this is a pricey place, it is definitely worth it, particularly for special occasions.

Exceptional Views to the Ocean 1000 feet high

By India C |

Took the elevator to 71 Above and vistas are celestial to Griffith Observatory and of the undulating sea with silver light shimmering off of ocean. This view is at a height only eagles find commodious and the cuisine some say is ethereal. This review is for lunch. Champagne compliments of Emil Eyvazoff is appreciated. Panna Cotta by Baumgartner was savored with eyes closed! Scrumptious morsels presented elegantly here, service was ok. If I was just rating the food its hands down 5 stars. Chef Vartan Abgaryan and John Butler we hope to meet upon return for dinner and will let the evening stargazing ensue at this top notch establishment 71 Above.Upon the return many clouds at sunset---acting---would be lovely and ribbons for golden light.

Great Views, Great Service, Okay Food

By OCAnn |

I wanted to like 71Above (it was on Jonathan Gold's 101 list), but the food is average-solid. So I'd recommend it for drinks and/or the phenomenal view. Great for out-of-towners and at least once for those who live in Southern California. If there is a next time, I'll make reservations 30 min before sunset, since your reservation is good for 90 minutes. It's $7 for an optional bread service which was okay. Great & friendly front-of-house service, but seriously, the food was just average. Oh, and plug your ears on the ride up to avoid poppage.

Needs better service

By hobolinda |

Very nice view overlooking the city. Very nice ambience and interior. The sommelier needs to smile. The server needed to check with the manager if I could place the ice bucket behind me. It was not going to impede the servers in any way. We waited 30 minutes before we were asked for food choices. So we chose and asked if we may have some bread? Sure, for an additional charge. Really? Food was good but portions very small. Would have left hungry if we had not ordered the bread :)

Great sunset!

By Irene Eng |

Will return for the view, food, and service. It is located across the street from their wonderful library. This is one of the better rooftop restaurants and bars. A few small plates are all wonderful: Liver mousse pork belly skewer ... 东坡肉 -:) Chicharrones ... A reservation is needed for the dining tables. We opted for the bar instead. There is a girl at the reception of the US Bank Tower Lewis Brisbois lobby, checking attire. Two elevators later, we arrived at the dark entrance, which showcases the panoramic view of the city and Hollywood Hills beautifully. The most striking buildings in our view are the Inter Continental hotel downtown @ 900 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90017. The sunset is simply marvelous. The handsome bar tender is a seasoned pro, who added commentary after we picked our wine: Mendel Malbec 2021 is the winner! Gundlach Bundschu fm Sonoma County 2022 is good too, but not as good as the Malbec. We couldn't drink more because we've a pre-concert wine hour at Disney Hall - the wine is most likely not as good as 71Above. I captured the motion of the bartender making cocktails and asked if I could post it publicly. He said "sure" and thanked me for asking. I just got a call from OpenLaw two hours ago, informing me that Hales Black Brick is suing me. One of their demands was to take the wife's photo down from my review. (Long story short, I won the case handily. This frivolous lawsuit was closed shortly after Helen Freund's front page story on Tampa Bay Times, She reviewed a Tampa restaurant on Yelp. Then came a lawsuit on June 8, 2025) 他们的东坡肉和咱们的东坡肉有的一比 … 快去申遗 [偷笑] 夜幕降临 瑕疵都看不见了 中国有一白折三丑 美国一黑折百丑

Exceptional

By Tommaso V |

First time in L.A., local found over the Internet near the hotel. What about: exceptional views, great food, very kind waitstaff (they even paid us a tribute of a further course since the related ingredients were from the region of origin of my wife). Great, it's really worth it. Thomas

Amazing lifetime experience!!

By R0bins0ntravel |

What an amazing experience we had for dinner on a Saturday night. Saw a few celebrities, had an amazing bottle of wine, appetizers, 3 course meal and desserts. The service was excellent and the atmosphere so much fun. I brought my 12 year old son and he was introduced to some amazing food which enlightened his pallet. Alexander was so much fun and we enjoyed the tour. Great place and one I will remember for a lifetime.

Amazing views

By michelle c |

My family went there to celebrate my daughter graduation. It was perfect. The views are absolutely incredible, the atmosphere is very pleasant, the food was interesting and the staff is very courteous. I am not a food expert, I eat pretty simple and I was surprised by their menu. It is modern cuisine, interesting and tasty. The Steak Tartare was very well made. The chicken was kind of boring and dry and the Heritage Pork was cooked medium rare. We asked them to cook the dish more and they did. We had six more dishes and all very tasty. We will go back again. Reserve a table next to the window and get there on time.

Upscale restaurant with excellent views and a pre-fixe menu

By Shanelle |

Pre-fixe menu with sky high views of LA. Came here for dinner with my family and made reservations beforehand online. There’s parking available behind the building for 2 hours for $10, after which it’s $15. Otherwise you can try your luck with metered street parking. You have to check in at the hostess stand in the lobby, and then take two elevators up to the 54th, and then 71st floor. The service was impeccable and our waiter was super nice and on top of everything. I appreciated how he pointed out what was an additional cost (ie bread service, caviar service, etc) both during the spiel as well as on the menu. Credit cards accepted. They bring the card reader to your table. Restrooms are available immediately after passing the hostess stand. The amusebouche of mushroom soup was umami and so warming. We had a pleasant surprise where we received champagne since it was Christmas. For the food, these were our thoughts: Appetizers Octopus: This was my sister and my dad’s favorite thing. It was very filling and well cooked. The sauce was also very tasty. Crudo: Make sure you eat this with a spoon so you can get a bite of the passion fruit broth with the fish. It was very bright and a lighter option. I liked this a lot. Handkerchief Pasta: a very savory, also umami vegetarian option. My mom really liked this. Entrees Ribeye: The steak was chewy (ordered medium rare) so that’s unfortunate. Cod: On the smaller side but I liked the lemon-butter sauce. The skin was crispy and the fish came on top of mashed potatoes. Pork chop: on the saltier side, but still enjoyable. Desserts: Chocolate Cremeaux: note that this does have peanut butter (dehydrated). It came with a side of ice cream and isn’t as rich as you might think a chocolate dessert would be. Sticky toffee pudding: it was decent, but very much so on the saltier side. The crunchy bits were a nice touch and there was an appropriate amount of touch. Cheese board: it came with 3 different types of cheeses, marcona almonds, and crackers. There weren’t enough crackers but there was also some honeycomb to accompany the cheese which was nice.

Five Stars!

By ROG13 |

The view, of course. But the food and the service were five stars also. It is a small plate restaurant, but you will not leave hungry. And the food is wonderful. The chef is adventurous, but my family and I loved every dish. This restaurant is an experience that you should have if you are in LA. I have but three small complaints: The arrival on the ground floor is not well marked, and a bit confusing. The elevator path almost needs a guide. And the ladies at the reception desk on the 71st floor have their noses much too high in the air. You are there to serve the guests, ladies. Try a smile. And 18% is added to your bill automatically. A tip is voluntary, at the behest of the guest. Not mandatory. The service was perfect, so I would have added the tip. But I don't like it added for me. But this did not spoil a wonderful evening. Five stars.

The views are fantastic! So are the drinks and dessert

By Angelcat08 |

Although I only experienced their lounge here on a Saturday night, this place is not to be missed for cocktails and small bites, including dessert! The lounge is rather small, so best to plan a night out as a date rather than a group. For that, I would suggest making reservation for their dining area. But the views you get here are some of the best in DTLA!

Fine dining

By David S |

A magnificent setting with views across Los Angeles. From the moment we arrived we were treated amazingly well. The menu was exceptional with every course put together with precision and finesse. The flavour combinations were perfect with a hint of middle eastern spices reflecting the heritage of the chef. The portion sizes were perfect. After our meal the bar was perfectly located to watch the sunset and enjoy an after dinner drink Whilst this is certainly an expensive restaurant it exceeded our expectations and was a perfect way to end our week in LA.

Sneaky management

By GoodTravels0726 |

We ordered a couple of appetizers and a glass of wine… the bartender showed us a bottle of wine never mentioned that the wine we had ordered they didn’t have and he chose to give us another wine that was 10X more expensive and never mentioned it… at the end we were stuck with $130.00 for two glasses of wine. We explained the situation but didn’t help. Won’t go back again

Over Rated

By Gruffco |

Staff is rude and inept.food is ok, but definitely overrated and overpriced for what you get. Views are nice if you are lucky enough to get a window table. Do your taxes favor and try one of the other marquis eateries in LA.

Breathtaking view, good food

By seka |

This restaurant is very much sought after and difficult to get the reservation. It is in downtown LA on the 71st floor, which gives an amazing view of the city. The news and police helicopters are flying onthe same height 🤪 We had a lovely diner, definitely not a Micheline star rating, but ok for an 75$ price. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. I would recommend this place!

Everything was as expected...

By CocoTTravels |

Food was good, our server Emily was great... Our reservation was at 8pm but was not seated til 8:30 or maybe even later than that. Reservations were made months ago and we had a request for window seat but we still didn’t get the window seat... that was the main disappointment. It would have been a better experience since it was for a party of 8 bday celebration.

Great experience and food

By Ray D |

Fantastic views, excellent service, and unexpectedly tasty food. Creative but not too weird, unlike some of our trendier restaurants. Also, quiet enough for conversation, which seems to be rare these days. The wine pairing was rather inexpensive compared to our experiences at Maude and others. Standout dishes were the baked egg and the agnolotti. Reserve early to get a window table, it's worth it.

Do not eat here if you have Celiac Disease

By Michelle A |

Don’t eat here if you have food allergies or Celiac Disease. My son took me here for Mother’s Day. I told the waiter I have Celiac Disease and can’t have gluten. I was assured that what I ordered was gluten free, but soon found myself violently ill. I told the managers and they did nothing but offer to call a paramedic. They didn’t offer to refund my son for my meal that I couldn’t eat because I was so sick. Even another staff member said that what I ordered was not gluten free. Very disappointed. Will not return.

Spectacular Views

This is a perfect place if you want a hip vibe, beautiful views, and great food and drinks. Defiantly a hot spot and we were able to get in on a weekday!

Expensive! Beautiful decor and view, electronic music, good food, dirty restroom with broken toilet

By AwayWeGo2016789 |

We enjoyed our evening, the restaurant is well designed with gorgeous views from the bar and tables, the food was excellent - though some dishes were better than others, a nice wine selection, etc. However, it was expensive- dinner for two with wine (a 3 x markup in price ?), dessert and the included tip bringing the total check above $300. I was terribly disappointed when I mentioned to the hostess that they needed to clean the ladies restroom as it was dirty and the toilet was coming apart and she didn’t respond at all. We shared the elevator with three other couples on the way out and they too expressed dismay that this was the case in what is marketed as a fine dining establishment. One of the gentlemen in the other party said the condition of the men’s room was similar and I noticed other reviews mentioned this as well. For the prices charged 71 Above could afford to have a bathroom attendant in the restroom area at all times. This certainly makes one pause when considering whether to return for a meal or to bring out-of-town guests even though you know they would enjoy the view. There are many fine dining restaurants in downtown Los Angeles, ( (especially within these price ranges). Next time we may go for a drink at the bar, admire the view and then dine elsewhere.

Excellent High End restaurant

By Mzprx64 |

We went with couple of friends from Europe and it was pleasant dinner. This is very high end and expensive restaurant, but is all you expect from place like this. Food and service was excellent, the view of Downtown and Pacific ocean beyond were something to remember.

Disappointing & dishonest

By Oscar |

The view was the best part, unfortunately even that was ruined by the service and how cold the room was. The food was far from copious and the steak was overcooked. Dishonesty: we asked for tap water and got an expensive Norwegian water bottle with no cap.. there is a 18% service charge (no matter how big your party is) added to your bill. Finally, I paid cash and did not get my complete change back. Last but not least, the hostess did not say hi or bye and did not take our coats or bags. We felt like we inconvenienced her with our presence.

Amazing view

By Shahid B |

The view steals the show here. The great thing about this restaurant is no matter where you are seated you would be able to enjoy the view. We where late for our reservations but they where very nice and accommodated. We had a quite area in the back since we came with a baby. We really enjoyed our dinner here especially because of the view. The staff where all very nice from the hostesses to the waitresses. Unforgettable dinner and memory.

Amazing views and excellent service

By Kacey80 |

The view from the restaurant was one of the best I have ever seen. Our waitress as well as sommlier were friendly and attentive. We booked the chefs table with wine pairing and while the food was pretty good we weren't too pleased that the main course was chicken breast. Wines were great and I will definitely return (but not for the chicken). Also, we were celebrating a birthday and other than it being acknowledged at the hostess stand it was not mentioned again.

Meals as impressive as the views!

By YertleTurtle |

I thought we were largely going (and paying) for the views, but the food was just as impressive. We only knew we were at the right place by the street address and building height, as the entry was unassuming. The restaurant requires two elevator rides, and you’re instantly transported when the doors open. Go before sunset--we enjoyed cocktails (with really kind and funny waitstaff) and sunset views in the bustling club-like bar area while waiting for our window seating (the wait was just long enough to finish our drinks). The walk to our table (it’s a full-circle restaurant) delivered remarkable views from every vantage point. Once seated, it felt like we were the only ones in the place—we weren’t aware of any other diners, and it felt like the staff was catering only to us. They were super attentive and friendly but not the slightest bit intrusive or overbearing. Really knowledgeable about the sights, food and wine (highly recommend the wine pairing—delicious and informative and really heightened the meal experience). All the food was exquisite, from the complimentary amuse bouche (they brought us a second round between courses, as we mentioned how much we’d enjoyed it!) to the decadent desserts (we had two *plus* the cheese tray—couldn’t resist!). Notably, the grilled octopus was impossibly tender and caramelized, and the wagyu short ribs couldn’t have been more flavorful or more perfectly cooked. The chilled Meyer lemon dessert and fluffy Madagascar chocolate dessert were both incredible. Even the bread service was yummy! A worthy splurge for sure.

One of the best in Los Angeles

By Tom Siu |

71Above is one of the best restaurants which I have visited. The ambient is comfortable with the right amount of energy. I had dinner there on a Saturday night. The whole team looked professional and concentrated. It was obvious that the chef tried to be creative. Unfortunately, the food still lacked a WOW factor. I was going to give them only 4 stars because the food was just above average. The manager Gabriel Delgado was very friendly. Our server Brian was very attentive. I gave the 5th star to the staffs.

Good Food, Great View, Nice Service

By John T |

Enjoyed a business luncheon window-side on a clear day with a nice view. As the restaurant's name indicates it's located on the 71st floor. You access the restaurant by taking an elevator to the 54th floor then switch to another elevator up to 71. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very elegant. They do have a bar area which I've visited on a separate occasion. I'd suggest going to enjoy the sunset where you can actually see the coast from downtown. For lunch and dinner they only offer a fixed menu. Lunch was 2 courses but they offer 5 or 6 selections per course. I was very pleased with the variety. I had previously avoided coming here for dinner because I didn't like the idea of the fixed menu but I've since reconsidered. For lunch I ordered the burrata salad and the pork loin medallions. Both were very well prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed both. Several others ordered the flat iron steak and the temperature was inconsistent. We also indulged in a tasty dessert to top off the meal. Service was attentive and personable.

Engagement celebration

By NJmarmalade |

Booked a table in the lounge prior to our meal to celebrate our engagement- lovely cocktails, table service excellent! When we were ready taken to our table with spectacular views over nightime LA. The meal we had consisted of probably the nicest food we have ever eaten. Farm egg amazing, my partner enjoyed the octopus and I had the Ribeye for third course. This was the most perfectly cooked piece if steak I have eaten with a gorgeous crust to the steak edges. We had the 3 course menu and numerous cocktails. Yes it IS expensive but this was a special occasion and was perfect. Thankyou to all at 71above for the food and service! If you want a nice leisurely romantic evening this is the place!

Lavish meets the view

By Sabine S |

Lavish meets the view, mixed together you have the right ingredients for a stylish place to remember. From far the highest restaurant I ate at and yet the windows adjust themselves automatically to avoid the bright LA lights and give the place a very intimate feel. For dinner or drink you, for sure pay for what you get (even the parking despite a happy hours rate) but the view and food are worth it, so treat yourself and indulge in the poached oysters with hollandaise sauce and Caviar, just delishhhh

Not professional and rude

By IT |

Not professional. No communication at all about the dress code, I booked over the phone on Saturday 1/8 for a table at 9:45 pm , was not told they have a dress code and they dont allow shorts for women. was not told to check their website for dress code requirements, didn’t received a confirmation email since I booked over the phone and they didnt even ask for my email. When I arrived, they tried to deny me entry and said its our policy and its on the confirmation email, which I didnt even get! I had to wait, explain its not my fault that they didn’t notify me, ask them to get the manager who finally allowed us in as if he did us a huge favor rather than apologizing for the miscommunication. His answer was its our policy and its on our website, after he realized i didn’t receive any email. If they care so much about the dress code they should teach the staff to communicate it instead of embarrassing people in-front of their guests! i had no idea that after each reservation i make , i should go check the restaurant’s website. And the manager really didnt even care to apologize , or to even acknowledge that its their mistake and they should teach the staff to communicate better , or simply stop accepting over the phone reservations and switch to online only that way you automatically get the confirmation email and get all the info you need.

Horrible experience

By Cecy |

Honestly it was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The view is the only great thing about this place. The waiter was rude and he didn’t even offered us bread. We ended up getting bread an hour later because some nice gentleman who was cleaning our table over heard us saying we were hungry. He said “you ladies didn’t want bread?” I said wow I didn’t even know you guys offered bread, so we said yes please. Our food took forever, so imagine sitting there for an hour with no bread or anything? we were very upset by that time we got our food. I spoke to the manager and told him how I felt about my experience there. We paid and then complained because I didn’t want them to say we were doing it on purpose not to pay. Like I told him money is not an issue but I expect to be treated better. I made the reservation at 0930 we left at 11 something. I was celebrating my bday and they knew it was for a birthday dinner. They didn’t bring anything to the table but they definitely did to other guests that were celebrating. I’ll definitely not be going back to that place. I rather go to Mastro’s or Geoffrey’s in Malibu. They have excellent service!

Perfect food, great service, beautiful scenery from the top of the tallest building in Los Angeles!

By CAsos-man |

A set menu of 3 items and my choices are: Food #1. Avocado #2. Octopus #3. Ribeye while hubby ordered Poached egg, Heirloom carrot, Salmon. They all super delicious! You can't go wrong with their food! Will come again.

Amazing views and a dinner like no other!

By mrstraveler35 |

Make a reservation here if you want to make a spectacular impression. This is elegant and fine dining with style, grace and a view to go gaga over!! I really enjoyed the food. We had ALL of the deserts! Yum!

Great Food!! Great Wine!! Great Views!!

By Trojan_traveler13 |

We came here for a work dinner and basically shut the place down. Food was decadent and incredibly seasoned and presented. They have soms there to go over the extensive wine list and ours paired our wines perfectly. They also can pair YOUR dinner with wines to your palate for a predetermined cost. The attention to detail and just the sheer elegance - I cannot wait to come again!! I will say, it's a bit hard to find the parking lot. You'll need to go to the alley way of the Bank of America building. They only validate for an hour and a half - so if you're planning to have a long dinner, you'll be paying full price for parking!

Very good service at lunch at 71Above

By FlyersFanInLA |

I had to meet with an Asian electronics company's PR people who were downtown recently for the E3 video gaming convention. Despite some tricky parking (you need to come from the north on Hope Street) and enter the valet parking from the north of the building. And then take a bank of elevators to the lobby. Then another elevator to the 54th floor. THEN another elevator to the 71st floor. The view wasn't as good as you'd expect because there is tint installed to keep the heat down. What you can see is pretty impressive. The food was very good. Light, LA fare if you want it. Heavier stuff too depending on your tastes. Two course lunch menu was just about right. The service was EXCELLENT - as good as you will find anywhere on the Westside. The decor was very cool and the location was well - exotic. Overall, it was a good call for a business lunch!

High-end Restaurant & Sunset

By J C Lopez |

In my personal experience, 71 above is well presented, the staff is so attentive and professional and I like when they introduce every dish to you to understand what we are eating. Therefore, every dollar spent is worthy. I have been here twice, having the 3-course dinner menu in two different seasons, the summer and the winter, both were really good but definitely my favourite was summer (Foie Gras, second course, I loved it). The dishes are well presented and packed full of flavours creating the magic for our palates. Definitely, this is the restaurant where you should be at if you want to enjoy a fine dinner while you admire the sunset from downtown LA

Great View

By RI02886 |

Great view and drinks. The food was sorely lacking and over priced. No one in our party enjoyed their entrees. Just go for drinks and apps.

Absolutely incredible experience all around.

By Reviewing Reviewer |

Came here on a Saturday night expecting good things, but ended up being absolutely blown away by the food, the service, the drinks, and the views. We had been once prior to sit at the bar, and were impressed, but had no idea what was in store for the full-service tables. Special shoutout to Nelson, our waiter, who made our night with his fantastic knowledge, attentiveness, and recommendations. Cocktails are artistic. Wine selection is excellent. We were treated to several amuse-bouche, all of which had us aghast. The main courses are rich and flavorful, and dessert and aperitifs were a perfect finish. We will be back very soon.

Outstanding

This restaurant offers a spectacular view of Los Angeles and surroundings. The staff was amazing. They gave attention to every detail. Food was amazing!

Delicious meal from the top

By Dominic Dobrzensky |

Visiting LA from Vancouver. I went here on the advice of a friend. The view is absolutely worth it. The service is exceptional, our servers took really good care of us. My brother and I loved the food. I can't understand the comments complaining about "small portions". I had the three course meal and I was full! It was all delicious. While you have to book separately, I did do the Skyslide which is located in the same building. Fun date idea!

Heavenly Perfection

By Mary B |

Check in upon arriving in the lobby and zoom to the 54th floor, change elevators and arrive on the 71st floor to a remarkable restaurant with a breathtaking view of downtown Los Angeles. Prepare for impeccable service, great cocktails, a menu of three courses exquisitely presented and prepared with love and precision. That gorgeous view becomes second fiddle to the experience. Relax. You are in for a perfect experience.

If you get a chance you should definitely go here!

By brooke_nichole277 |

This place is really good, the food plus the view. It's worth it! I got the stake and it was amazing! Definitely worth going too!

Best view in all of Downtown LA

By nanmacmil |

We stopped by for happy hour. I would . have loved to have stayed for sunset....but I had tickets to a show. They actually mark on the window sill what you can see and which direction is Santa Barbara. The food we had was great...but the view stole the show.

Good for a special occasion.

By ExperiencedTravelers |

The first thing you notice is that you must take two elevators to get to the restaurant. While the view may be nice, if it is even a bit misty you essentially see clouds. But, while they advertise the view, the food and ambiance are why you really are here. Service was perfect, very attentive, and they let us sit and talk after dinner without ever rushing us. We both enjoyed each of the courses a lot, surprisingly so. While the prices are not exactly cheap, some of the "extras" (like $7 for bread and $6 if you want a cheese platter) seemed silly. Come on, how much can bread cost? Our observation is that this is a place for a nice date and special occasions (there were at least two wedding proposals in the few hours we were there). The only downside, aside from $7 for bread, is that, as the night wore on, the music got louder, sometimes making talking a bit challenging. Otherwise, a great place.

Date night

By Nasrin M |

The view was fabulous & very romantic. We had a great spot looking over the city. The food was very delicious. & the drink was so good. I order sea breeze. The presentation & taste was one of my favorite. They made their drink with crunch Ice which made the drink stay cold longer & much more delicious. Their service & server were exceptional. They have beautiful ambience. The other great thing about this place you can go for drink or dinner. But it really worth to go for dinner. The food was delicious & exceptional. If you want to go sit above the city & enjoy beautiful romantic night this is the place to go.

Birthday Dinner for Wifey

By Richardd F |

An experience that must be had at least once. Out of the ordinary cuisine at least for me, but it was all delectable and worth the pricey gift tag. Complimentary birthday 🍷 was a nice touch. Friendly staff and nice bar area work killer views all around.

5 Star

By Lisa E |

The atmosphere of this restaurant was very elegant. The service we received was as if we were the only guest in the restaurant and the restaurant was full . The food was delicious not your average menu very upscale the stage if the meal was very nice each course was brought to the table one at a time and when you finished that course they would bring the need . Our waiter was very attentive checking on drinks and making sure we had everything we needed . This is an upscale restaurant so the price reflects it but for a special occasion I would definitely recommend it the view is amazing since it is on the 71st flood you can see Los Angeles lite up and it was beautiful.

Can't Address the Dinig Experience, But...

By Leslie S |

A few days back I used the restaurant's website form to inquire as to an available seating time on the night of an upcoming anniversary dinner. To date, there has been no response from the restaurant of any kind. Given the proximity of the anniversary dinner, I have simply gone ahead and made other plans for that evening. I would hope that if a restaurant invites you to contact them, they would respond with days to do so. Not a very good impression of this spot.

Great lunch

By F Y |

The food and the Srvice was outstanding The staff were amazing and professional. I had the hamachi and crab pasta and we tried the steak tartare and the scallops 5/5

Long wait to get food.

By TheFunFoodie |

3.5 Stars. The view is amazing. The service is spotty... as in you have to hunt down your server at times. And the food takes quite a long time to arrive. It’s pretty good food though once it arrives. Just don’t have expectations that it will be there in 30 mins. Ours was not.

Amazing view

By lafarins |

I visited this place after dinner to enjoy the view. The elevator is very elegant black and golden, it’s closed so you can’t see outside. Once there I had some cocktails. The service is good even if a bit slow because it’s a crowed place. The Barman are super with acrobatic moves while preparing drinks. The cocktails had a good flavoring and a very nice aspect. I enjoyed the view from the windows, it’s very spectacular. You see all LA under your feet, full of lights, all the skyscrapers around seem not so tall. The price of the cocktails are not high, 10$-12$. You feel like the queen of LA from there. I recommend to visit this place because it’s spectacular to face from the 71 floor.

High Rise Heaven

Full marks for affordable fine dining in an impressive setting with views over the Los Angeles skyline. Excellent food and wines. Could not fault the experience in any way.

71 Above and beyond!

By mcdedrick |

From the moment we arrived on the ultrafast elevator, it was love at first sight and first bite! We were brought to our table immediately and spent the first half hour leisurely perusing the menu and drinking amazing craft cocktails. Our table was not directly at the windows but it’s impossible to have a bad view from wherever you say. The menu is set up in three courses for $75. The choices were evenly distributed between seafood meat poultry and vegetarian. Everything we tried quite simply blew us away. The Octopus, Foie Gras and Chicken Breast were especially amazing. Thanks to our fantastic server as she made the experience even more memorable. After dinner we went to the sky lounge which is adjacent to the restaurant and spent a little bit more time with those delicious craft cocktails. We will definitely be returning here for drinks and for food!

This is a spectacular restaurant

By 00Bruce00 |

71Above Restaurant and Sky Lounge is a spectacular restaurant, located on the 71st floor of the US Bank / OUE Skyspace building. It has a three-course price fixe menu at $70 with optional wine pairings for $45, with several appetizing choices for each course. The dining room itself is pretty spectacular, and has spectacular views, as you can imagine from that height. The service was very attentive; I opted for the wine pairing, which is poured and explained by their sommelier. For dinner I had "Gem Salad" with lettuce, lemon, caper, parmesan, chervil, anchovy, and garlic breadcrumbs; then Foie Gras mousse with strawberry, rhubarb, black pepper crumble, wild fennel, and cashew; and Spring Lamb loin with crépinette, ramp panisse, fava, plum, and prickled mustard. All courses were excellent, presentations were artistic, the wines paired well, and I was too full for dessert. Details: They have an excellent website, which I recommend you look at beforehand. Not sure about parking because we took the Metro to get there. They add 18% gratuity, which they tell you on the website and in person, but also tell you they will take it off if service doesnt warrant it. When you arrive you check in at a desk in the lobby; you then take an elevator to the 56th floor; they have greeters there who will help you take the elevator from there to the 71st.

Experience not to be had

By Pietro G |

There were three of us for New Year's Eve dinner, the view was breathtaking, the octopus was frozen and reheated so it felt like eating the sole of leather shoes, the salmon went to whoever saw it, priced at 250 dollars for three 750 they put mandatory tips and taxes, which is not noted in the reservation, total 989 dollars for not eating anything

Amazing View with Good Food.

By Kwan_Nyom |

Firstly the main reason to enjoy a meal here is the view, the booking method includes taking a $210 deposit (2 people window seat) which goes towards your meal (not Taxes/Gratuity) and if any is left over is not refundable.. However if you have the 4 courses and something to drink (for 2) it will be spent. The view was excellent, the service was decent and the food was good, it was not excellent, but good. Some courses were excellent, and some just fine. Overall it is well worth a visit for the combination of food and view.

Wonderful food and service

By Chazzaguapa |

For the View, Service, Food the prices were fantastic, we were impressed. The portions are not too big, but we only wanted something light after our 11hour flight. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Great event!

By Alena P |

A completely successful experience! The food was simply excellent – prepared to the highest level of taste and with great attention to detail. The service was extremely friendly, attentive and always on hand without being intrusive. Of particular note is the enchanting view, which perfectly rounds off the entire ambience. Everything is just right here – we will definitely be back!

Great but expensive view!

By Ethan G |

Since I don’t voluntarily patronize these kinds of latest hipster eateries, with quite small portions, unusual ‘unique’ but not necessarily tasty foods, young ladies in extremely tight dresses, very attentive servers, maybe a dozen in fact, and meals in 3 digits ($$$$), I ended up experiencing a new pleasant high-end experience! Since wife and I were invited to a 70th birthday (for 8) and I had no financial obligation, no problem, someone else was paying the almost $1,000 evening dining and drinking bill. The Good: The surround view from 71 stories up. The service, excellent, attentive and sincere. Birthday celebrated, no singing but nice. No rush at the 3 1/2 hour meal. The Not So Good: For me, very small portions of designer? food I would never order and then not anywhere as good as the chill or spaghetti I make at home. 3 courses of bite size pretty food with swirls and names I had to look up .....but no garlic! Soup was an insultingly small 1/4 of a cup! Soup!!?? $100 and up for these choices not my style. $15 valet too (3+ hours) Oh well. I bet all the other guests enjoyed themselves to the fullest. In fact I’m sure of it ......but then they (except wife) have never had my chili !! Enjoy and bring your fat wallet!

Excellent view

By CocoTTravels |

My friend made reservations months ahead of time, yet we still waited an hour for our table. She had requested for a table by the window but we never got that. I understand that there are no guarantees but it kinda lowers your expectations from a place you paid top dollar. So all I can say - excellent view, other than that - ehhhh...

just great

By lior15 |

visit the restaurant last week for my last night in l.a, the place is great, the design beautiful, and the views all around for the city 71 floors above it. food is very good and served with a very nice plating, cocktails great as well. like it a lot for nice last memory from the city of angels!

Spectacular view and food

By Jack V |

We went for lunch and the obligatory 2 course meal was incredible. The sashimi and pasta we had were very good. The service was so so and you must pre reserve a table at the window with the view and they asked for a deposit. This is a must visit if you want the best view of downtown and a good meal.

Great experience!

By taj280 |

Loved everything about this place. The design of the restaurant is lovely. It's modern without being cold. The seating in the bar is comfortable. The servers both in the bar area as well as in the restaurant are friendly. This is the kind of "fabulous" place I usually don't enjoy in LA, because of the pretentiousness, but I found this restaurant to be quite welcoming and relaxed. The view is spectacular and obviously the main reason to visit this restaurant. The great surprise for me was that the food was equally spectacular. I guess this isn't a surprise for most people who research the restaurant, as it does have a famous/fabulous chef, but I didn't know that when I went. I loved everything I tasted! Roasted avocado -- never had heard of such a thing before--delicious! I had the salmon which was PERFECT. The skin was crisp and the flesh tender. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Also, they have a GREAT wine list! We had a Burgundy and Malbec--both were excellent. Our main waitress was friendly and fun, but we also had other servers as several courses were brought by different people. They each explained the dish and it was like a bit of a show--entertaining. They were great! Another good thing about the restaurant is that despite its size--quite large, it is not too loud. You can actually hear your dining companions. And it seems that wherever you sit, you can see the beautiful view. We were not right next to a window. If you go, I'd request that. But if you don't get a seat by the window you can still enjoy it. I recommend going just before sunset. It's so pretty! This is a great place to visit for a special celebration. It is expensive, but worth it. One caveat--if you are afraid of elevators that go very high, have a drink or take some anti-anxiety medication before you go, because it's REALLY high. Have fun!

A spectacularl view of Los Angeles

By Carlos S |

We went in the late afternoon for a coffee and a drink. The view is awesome!! The place has huge windows, so you can see almost all Los Angeles. Don’ miss it!!

What a View!

Came here for my wedding Anniversary with some friends. What an experience. Great view, great food and great service.

Daylight to Sunset

By chbra |

We took a seat at the bar on the 71st floor around 4:00pm and enjoyed a spectacular view of Los Angeles and the mountains during daylight. Then we watched the sunset and L.A. light up . All for the cost of a glass of wine. The bartender could not have been friendlier. Do not be afraid to walk around so that you experience the entire 360° view. While we did not eat at the restaurant, we enjoyed the view and the waiters were extremely gracious. We have done this in many cities, including NYC, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Seattle.

Top of the Top!

By rohbogen |

This is a not only a great restaurant, but also, a great experience for dining and impressing friends or someone special. Not only the highest point to have dinner in Los Angeles (higher than La Boucherie on 71 because it's on the hill), but embraced with a super professional staff, a dynamite chef named Vartan and the coolest manager in town, Alex. The setting and view are spectacular, even when the clouds or fog roll in, with complete views from North to South, East to West of Los Angeles, it will blow your mind. There are eye-candy tables all around. Unless you have acrophobia, you will be delighted by the modern decor, world class bar and wine list, and most of all, the food. It is a three part tasting menu, and everything from the Farm Egg to the Oyster in the first course, the Octopus or Heart of Palm and more in the second course and onto the Ribeye, Halibut or Scallops on the third course are fantastic. There are many choices, all good! We loved having the great breath taking view paired with super cuisine. This place is iconic. The deserts are scary good and we will keep going back when we want to pamper ourselves and friends. Oh, don’t forget, make the reservation, this place is worth it, because it is the Top of the Top!

We made a reservation three months in advance and especially at the window and they gave us to the side of the kitchen

By Joel H |

we made a reservation three months in advance and especially at the window and they gave us to the side of the kitchen after waiting an hour and traveling from far to be dropped off at the bar.

Luxurious Vibes and Stunning Sunset Views!

By Ria |

I visited 71 and Above just in time to catch the sunset, and the experience was incredible. As we stepped out of the elevator, it was surprisingly dark, but following the music led us to a stunning bar. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered amazing views, and I learned from the waitress that they adjust the window tint based on the time of day and heat. We only grabbed drinks and dessert (the chocolate cake was amazing!), but I can’t wait to return and try the full menu!

Get an edge table!

By fabell760 |

My wife and I had dinner here last night. Fantastic food! It’s a seasonal menu, $78 per person with a choice of 6 items for each of your 1st 2nd and 3rd course. Drinks run at about $16 each and they have an extensive wine list. Wine starts around $16 per glass and goes up to a $6000+ bottle and everything in between. Every table in the restaurant and seat in the bar has a view. An Edge table is a seat at a table directly at the window. There’s no outdoor dining, everything is indoors. There’s Seating for couples to groups of 10(ish). The menu changes, but when we ate there we had choices ranging from fish to duck, to chicken or beef and pasta with some Japanese (sushi) style options. The portions are on the smaller side, like many high end restaurants, but at the end of the evening we were both very satisfied. For our main course, My wife had The chicken... OUTSTANDING. If i took a bite without knowing it was chicken, I would not have guessed it was chicken. I had the Ribeye, also OUTSTANDING, sadly, I’ll never have ribeye again without comparing it to 71 Above’s ribeye. Overall, it was fantastic. The view was incredible, try to arrive before sunset and you’ll get to see the view in daylight, then the sunset and the city lights up. A couple drinks each, dinner and one extra 1st course ran about $260 including an 18% tip. Not something we’d do every weekend, but well worth the experience, food and view. To find the restaurant, enter the US Bank building off 5th and a hostess for the restaurant is at the info/reception area for the building and he or she will send you to a specific elevator that takes you to the 54th (or was it the 56th?) floor, there you transfer to a second elevator that takes you to the 71st floor. Go! If you only go once, you’ll be glad you did.

Outstanding Experience

By Someday361 |

Exceptional evening with fantastic food, views and service. So rarely does one find a restaurant that has it all, and 71 Above scores in all categories. The views are exceptional (especially at sunset) and the food and service were fabulous. The restaurant serves a pris fixe menu with the option to add an additional course if desired. To start we chose a variety of first courses and all were delicious, but the pasta with wild mushrooms was my favorite, closely followed by the octopus, which was tender and flavorful. For my main course I decided to upgrade to the waygu beef, which was truly the best I have ever tasted and has spoilt me forever. Other options were the pork that was cooked to perfection and the salmon that was also delicious. Desserts were all out of this world, as were the creative cocktails that we enjoyed prior to the meal. Footloose Cabernet was new to me and paired well with both the pasta and beef. Overall it was a fabulous experience and I can’t wait to try it again the next time we are in LA.

Great date night restaurant

By Hubert F |

This restaurant has a spectacular view of Los Angeles. Get here a little earlier to enjoy the sunset and then city night lights. The food is very good. Service is great. Prize is reasonable for the 3 course menu. Had a great time with my wife. This is not a good restaurant for kids. They do have an observatory on a floor down with tickets for sale in the lobby.

Great food w/ Amazing views

By CocaColaTraveler |

With views of downtown LA, 72 Above is a great restaurant with 5-star food. My friends and I opted for the 3-course dinner option. The beets & grapes dish was phenomenal! We opted for the wine paring as well. One of my friends had the scallops and Japanese Wagyu - she said it was heavenly! Overall, great restaurant, amazing views and great food! Review the menu and be prepared - the options can get pricey! However, it is well worth the experience.

Awesome views from downtown Los Angeles

By thematrix |

My wife suggested we dine at 71Above and I said why not, sounds like fun. She made reservations for lunch and we made our way to downtown Los Angeles. The restaurant is located on the 71st floor of the US Bank building. You have to check in at the lobby of the building and they will grant you access to the elevators. You will take two elevators, first one goes to floor 54 and then you get off that one and get in another to that takes you the rest of the way to floor 71. The views are amazing! There is the main restaurant area and also a bar area. We sat at a window table and just stared endlessly at the buildings below us. Lunch consists of a two course meal. I started with the Corn Soup and had the Flat Iron Steak for my main. Both dishes were delicious! Our server was great at explaining everything on the menu and was very attentive before, during and after our meal. It's an expensive place to eat, but for a special occasion or a once every few years type thing, it's totally worth it. FYI, 18% gratuity is included in your bill. Just a fun and delicious dining experience. We will be back in the future for sure.

The View is the best part

By Stephanie |

The host was amazing when we entered and left but found she was the only friendly person. The food was okay but nothing better than a high end chain. The firework package for 125.00 each is not worth it. The waiter just went through the motions like a robot. We had to wait at the bar area for a while even though we had reservations. We through this place would really be all that but it was a let down.

Not worth it

By Will K |

The only redeeming attribute of this place is the view. The rest is a disaster. Superficial staff (Did not care about that I was not happy with my meal) and the food was simply so poor that a regular McDonalds burger would be much preferred. The price level is atrocious and they even automatically add a 28% "service charge" before tax to the bill and the payment system then asks for an additional tip. Very sad, as the location is great and they turned it into a tourist trap, probably with severely underpaid staff.

Breathtaking view of Los Angeles

By KJett69SB |

This restaurant is worth the price tag based on the view alone. The fact that the food is amazing makes this a must visit. It may be expensive, but after the views, food quality and excellent service, you will certainly leave satisfied. Ask for a table beside the window if one is open.

Killer views, food is good

By John O |

What an impressive setting this is! Loved the views and atmosphere. Food was good and enjoyable but you really come here for the views. A nice place for lunch in DTLA. I would like to return to have a drink at the bar and enjoy more of the view.

Very nice birthday experience

By MarkRLBC |

Went for a birthday dinner. Takes 3 elevators to get up to the restaurant. Service is topnotch. KellI took time to answer any questions about the menu. Octopus second course was delicious. The farm egg was great too. Rabbit main course was also very good. Personal suggestion is to bring a great bottle of wine and pay the $ 40 corkage. Great wine list and helpful sommeliers make things easier, but I like to drink wine from my cellar. View is unbelievable 360 degree of the basin.

Mediocre At Best! Waste of Time!

By Mary A |

Don't waste your time or money here! I don't normally leave bad reviews but this one I had to because tonight was an absolute disappointment. Food is mediocre at best and management lacks customer service skills . The only thing this restaurant has going for itself is the view and I would say what a waste of a view when the rest of the experience is horrible! My husband made reservations weeks ago asking for a view , we get there and we are seated in front of the kitchen service door instead. When we asked to wait for another table with a view we were told it would take 2 hours by a snarky rude blond manager who came charging at us with an attitude that screamed how dare we question why we are being seated there. I asked for her manager, Nelson comes to save the day only to make matters worse because he lies and tells us the tables with a view are for larger parties for 4 or more. 15 minutes after we are seated the couple who checked in after us are seated at the table Nelson tells us we are too small of a party for. How backwards is this place! When we asked Nelson to explain he had nothing but excuses that made no sense. Long story short... view or no view this place is a waste of your time! We had the wagu and the ribeye both mediocre . The only thing that tastes good was the Cavier and that comes pre packaged, they can't mess it up. What a disappointment, I really wish we had spent our night somewhere else. Let's see if executive management actually reads this and cares enough to call me or respond.

So worth it! High-quality, well-balanced dishes with a great view

By Rachel Wang |

Excellent excellent quality. The chefs know what they’re doing. Each dish was complex yet well-balanced in flavor with great presentation. Both service and atmosphere were wonderful as well. Would definitely take friends and family here. The building interior is beautiful. Came here on a Thursday in mid June and was able to find street parking. Heard parking behind the building was $10. And valet is $15. $95 a person for a three-course meal. Window seating is walk-in only. Some people waited at the bar for an hour for a spot to open up.

Experience of a lifetime

By Jones W. |

For a premium 3-course dining experience with an amazing 360° view like that, the price of $133 per person (incl. tax&service) is very worth it. The dishes that I've had were professionally served with excellent quality.

Breathtaking!!!

By Estuardo Santillan |

I took all my directors for lunch... just to be on the 76 floor... was outstanding... and the food was amazing... service, bread, drinks... my co-workers really loved it.

Best Friend's Birthday Extravaganza!

By calleyne |

When you want to impress someone or just impress yourself, visit 71 Above! From the minute you walk off the elevator, you know you're in for a visual and gastronomic experience! Stellar good, impeccable service and a chef who knows his flavor pairings! Each plate is a work of art and if you're a foodie you will be jumping out of your seat! And if that's not enough, have fun watching the planes and helicopters that seem just arms-length away! Must haves: Honey crusted squash starter or herbed-infused pasta starter; eggplant and scallops....see photos below! Bon appetite!

Great place to go for any occasion

By pulminator |

3 of us ate lunch there. The prefix meal. Everything was excellent. Plus add that to a fantastic view. We also ordered a desert which was a smoked meringue with key lime custard and granita. One of the best desserts I have ever had. We are going back for dinner.

Spectacular View of the City

By ronl910 |

the view is awesome day or night. the staff was awesome. food was good but the chef has a little too much attitude. little pricey for a fixed menu. wine list was very reasonable with a good selection.

AMAZING views of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

By adameramian |

We can to 71Above to celebrate a birthday. We made reservations a month in abvance so that we can pick where we wanted to sit. The restaurant has an amazing 360 view of Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The food is great. The serve a 3 course meal. The selections are amazing and it tastes even better. We had 5pm reservations. I would suggest going when the sun is going down or even at night to really appreciate the view. All in all it was a great experience and I recommend it for special occasions.

Beautiful experience!

Wonderful view

By kmee06 |

We booked a edge table for 2. The view is what make the experience speciale. Indeed the view is wonderfull !!! Service was great. Food was ok but nothing exceptional. Take a small jacket with you as it's rather cold. I would go again but just to drink a couple of drinks with the view.

View from the sky

Without a doubt the best view in the whole city of Los Angeles the bar and the incredible service the delicious drinks without a doubt a place that I will visit again on my next visit to downtown Los Angeles

Classy place with unique food :)

By hordur1976 |

The place itself is great and the view is amazing. The service was impeccable and the family enjoyed the whole experience. The food was a bit to weird for us, but that was simply a matter of preference, not quality.

Breathtaking Views with Exceptional Dining!

By Charles B |

A must-visit for those who love fine dining with a view! The ambiance is elegant, the food is beautifully presented, and the cocktails are superb. Truly a top-tier LA experience!

Awesome Experience! Tremendous views & food!

Everything was first class! From taking two elevators to arrive, top notch service, semi private dining room with absolute incredible views of the city and exquisite food presentation- most of all the taste. We had a very memorable evening! Everyone's meal was perfect!

Very good Service; Great Views; Poor Steak

By Thomas M |

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary with our family, we opted for 3 course dinners. The service was outstanding and the views and ambiance are excellent. The first two courses were very good (above average to excellent), but the Ribeye Steak was very much below par. We cook a much better Aged Ribeye from Whole Foods at home. I asked for it medium well and it came out medium rare. When it was returned, it was no better than medium. And it was tasteless. The wine pairings were very good for the first two courses, but for this third course, the selected wine was way off to my taste. They gladly replaced it with a sufficient wine. I really like this restaurant, but their need to up their game on the ribeye steak and pairing before I'll go back.

What a beautiful view of LA!!!

On our last night in LA we took daughter and her husband to supper at this chic eatery on the 71 st floor or the tallest bldg.in La.Amazing view of city watching choppers pass by below us.Staff was super friendly and had time to chat and tell us about the various dishes .Good drink and wine selections, nothing here cheap so be prepared .We pre booked and had a window table very nice,All in all a nice meal.

Excellent Thanksgiving cuisine

By Leslie R |

Only negative, the table arrangement (to us) was an odd and interesting pattern however, having said that, we were satisfied with where we were seated and whether next to the window or not, there is nowhere you can't catch the sunset! We found the staff to be almost fawning over us - to the degree that we felt the "set" 18% gratuity was woefully inadequate for how attentive they were. The food came out in a slow even pace to allow your tummy to settle from the prior course - we were quite satisfied with that. The menu and the food were excellent and reasonable and we will definitely be back for all of the loveliness the restaurant had to offer. We also did the slide which was a lickety split quick one but fun nonetheless and worth the extra few bucks you pay if you are going to go to the viewing deck anyway - and it offers a 360 degree view of LA of which we were fortunate to have a clear day. Would recommend the experience in a heartbeat!

71Above Worth the Views

By fredyt3 |

I am a native of Los Angeles and have seen the downtown skyscape grow and businesses such as 71Above have generated great excitement by taking advantage of the great views. Technically, the restaurant sits on the tallest building in Los Angeles. The views are breath-taking. We visited to celebrate our anniversary but perhaps we are simply too unsophisticated to appreciate the fancy menu items they present. Anyway, bring me the basics and I will spend a fortune!!! Luckily my wife is not a drinker so we opted for just one of their $16 cocktails. Anyway, the view is great but please bring some basic items that "normal" people can enjoy or put a sign that unless you are ultra sophisticated and have the seasoning to appreciate the flair.........stay at home. Oh, one more point......you enter downstairs and take two elevators to get to the 71st floor.....but HAT ARE NOT ALLOWED. Staff was friendly, the bar staff was eager to serve. I did some research before we went to the restaurant so while I am glad we went for the "experience" there are tons of other places in the vicinity which absent the view, offer more of a regular type menu.

Eat like royalty from the Crown Jewel.

71 Above is a restaurant on the 71st floor of the of the US Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). We arrived by Uber and had a bit of confusion getting in as there was a movie being filmed outside. The entrance is simply at the ground floor exit of the tower. The reason I mention this is because there are stairs and escalators to the side of the building which drew us more as the main entrance just looked like an office block atrium. The journey (via two elevators) is well organised and the restaurant reception on 71st floor was very professional but incredibly welcoming. We had arrived early and assumed we would wait in the bar but we were told our table was available and we were given the option to wait in the bar or go directly to the table; we opted for the latter. Wow! We were seated at a table that touched floor to ceiling windows and the view was spectacular. Given that we arrived just before sunset we got to see the city in daylight, watch the sun go down and lights come on for miles around us. I thought the view was the key to this experience but how wrong I was. Every course we had was delicious. The sommelier was helpful and discreetly filled up our glasses and the waiters explained every course / plate in detail which was really helpful. I would love to remember what we had in detail but the wine and the view and the fact that everything tasted so good I think we just got lost in the moment. If this restaurant was anywhere else in the world it would be pretentious and stuffy but 71 Above mixes professionalism, great food and world class panoramas yet it feels really quite relaxed with lovely approachable staff who seem committed to you having a memorable experience. We did arrive early which may have helped but we had plenty of time to enjoy our dinner and wine and at no point did we feel rushed or pressured to leave. Book this in advance as a window seat will be an unforgettable experience. We booked about two months in advance but keep an eye on the website as booking seems to open at the beginning of the month previous to the month you want to visit.

there are better restaurants with views

I was upset... I attended dinner with my sister and her husband for my sister birthday and I was surprised at how rude the bartender with the bird nose was to my sister and her husband. They were trying to take photos and the bartended kept intentionally getting in her photos. Not only that, she was laughing and telling her co worker that she was doing it on purpose!! - HOW RUDE!? Why would you try to sabotage someone's experience at a restaurant with a view? How unprofessional.. why do you work there ? We were gifted with a photo we received at dinner and left it behind by mistake, I called that night and they don't answer their phones, you have to email them. I called and emailed the next day and was told they did not have my art work. So they tossed it out? they didn't even give me a chance to come back and get my gift. So, what is the policy on lost and found because we never took it from the restaurant. I was very disappointed in the food taste as well.. $100 pre course meal but I think they could have made more flavorful entrees for the money.. you basically pay for the view but the workers like the try and ruin that for you.. so be mindful when booking here.. my server was great. guy from Boston (i think) but we he never came back to our table at the end of the night. never dismissed himself so we didn't say bye.. idk i expected more.

Spectacular meal experience

By PutneyJohn |

Dining at 71above was, for us, an experience to be treasured. We chose to eat early, which might have helped us be allocated to an edge table. The views over LA at nightfall were spectacular. This meal really added to our experience of LA. In order to reach the restaurant it is necessary to ride on two elevators. On reaching the 71st floor and being shown to our table there was a real "wow!" We had a three-year tasting menu. At $78 per head it is not cheap but it is fine dining and worth it, in my view. The final meat course came with a generous helping of delicious rib-eye. The wine list is extensive and mainly expensive but, again, good value wine can be found and we had a very drinkable Californian Pinot Noir for $60. In the context of where we were, great value, I thought. Service was good and we did not feel pressured to finish and leave.

The view is everything.

By MiggityMatt |

The service and the view were what gave this Restaurant a VERY GOOD rating and not an average rating. The food wasn't bad at all but there was nothing memorable about anything we ate. And it's pretty pricey. I didn't even finish my main course. The bread was great. The cocktails were yummy, unique craft cocktails and I can't say enough about the service. I would come back but maybe for drinks. I loved everything but the food but I didn't hate the food and the experience was amazing.

Top view but bottom service

By Bogard C |

Elevator is confusing. Not very inviting. Must go through two checkpoints and one transfer to get to the top. People worked there are not as friendly and professional. Service was not high class. More like 3 stars. I have never been told to "be patient" from a waiter when I asked for my decaf coffee for the second time when I was long finished my dessert. Foods was ok. Ribeye steak medium was done right, but the garnish was hard to chew. The view was nice but the seating arrangement was not romantic. Nothing really special so I don't recommend to others or going back myself.

Great views, cocktails and food

By Darrin S |

Had a late dinner at the bar on a recent business trip. Tried the Hollywood cocktail -- delicious blend of jalapeño infused vodka and grapefruit juice. Meal didn't disappoint with hamachi starter and second course of grilled octopus. Both outstanding. Of course the views are stunning. Bar staff were terrific. Quite enjoyed the wine too. Highly recommend.

The service was professional

By Road22977235005 |

The restaurant has a stylish interior and a good selection of drinks. The city view is truly stunning, especially at night. However, the place was extremely noisy, and we could barely hear each other. The food was tasty, but some dishes arrived cold. The service was polite but a bit slow. Overall, a decent place, but not worth all the hype.

High above the rest!

By Bryon H |

Certainly THE place to watch sunset over LA, impressive friends and colleagues, and enjoy the TOP of LA! Amazing menu, nice wine list, and incredible view! Of course, the bill will match, but it's a once in a lifetime experience!

A Memory in the Experience.

This is a beautiful experience from the personal staff and the view of the city to start with. The three course options were all excellent. You will make a special memory with this experience.

Spectacular Views & Cocktails

Located on the 71st floor of the US Bank building. The restaurant goes all around the building. Has a place for private parties. There is valet parking or you can use public parking. We went for cocktails and the view. Both are spectacular. The service/staff is very attentive.

By Wayne M |

Tonight’s experience at 71Above was one to remember! The service provided by Maria and the entire time was top-notch. The food was delicious and the view of the city amazing. If you are looking for a memorable dining experience in L.A., you must visit 71Above !

Delightful treat

By Jean P |

Discovered this gem yesterday on a leisurely trek Downtown after visiting the venerable LA Public Library. Enter at the street level, not at the top as shown on Google Maps. This is a pricey treat but worth it. We had the two course prix fix lunch. I enjoyed the ahi cucumber jalapeño appetizer while my friend had the burrata scallop. The bread was excellent. We then progressed to the 2nd course, butternut squash with pomegranate for me and scallops again for my buddy. We enjoyed a glass of merlot and skinny margarita. The service was excellent and good humored. Alas, due to the fires, view was fuzzy. With lunch, drinks, tax and tips around $50 each. For those who can splurge, a wonderful place for a special occasion.

Above Downtown Los Angeles

By Lex Kiefer |

Reservation is a highly recommended as your name will be registered with host at security at lobby floor. Taking elevator to 54th floor and transfer to another elevator to 71st floor. Food is not too bad and not to die for, taste is average. Interior is so-so, not impressive. Service is ok, although staff were all friendly. Comparing to Sora at Korean Tower, that interior decor is much better in every way!

You definitely pay for the view

By stockdale83 |

Almost $300 total for two people, no alcohol and one mocktail each. This is without the $10 parking fee on top. So yes, the view is great, and the food is quite good. But taking into account the set menu price, added service charge and tip, this adds up to too much.

Excellent way to celebrate an Anniversary

By LDoonie |

Awesome view, great ambiance, our waiter, Mateo, was top notch, food was delicious, and the different piped-in music added nicely to the evening. Definitely made our anniversary a step "above." Dining at the tallest restaurant in LA is cool. Even though the Wilshire Grand Center is considered DTLA's tallest building - it is only because of their pole that they can claim that - the US Bank Tower is STILL the tallest storied building on town - NO better view!! They may want to consider allowing, even if charging, for a window seat. The only caveat is that you can't reserve a window seat, so if that's important (and, for the location and required 3-course meal price, I believe it's tantamount). But Staff worked to get us a window seat with a short wait (and we were very willing to wait); as it was our anniversary, we would have been very disappointed if we hadn't been next to a window. So glad we were!! Valet parking is right out front at $15, reasonable for DTLA. Definitely a great place to go for date night or a special occasion.

Request Angie

By Jeremy |

The theme of the restaurant & lounge is a compass. You can see the city and the direction posted all around the restaurant. The cocktails are inspired by the surrounding cities and their "personalities". Went for drinks and apps before moving on to another restaurant. Angie was a fantastic server. Would love to go back for dinner

Epic Views at 71 and Above

Hit up 71 and Above for killer sunset vibes. Elevator ride up was lit, views were epic. Total must-see spot and Higly recomemend.

Excellent Choice!

By Jan-RPV |

An outstanding dining experience. From the moment you set foot in this gorgeous space, it’s memorable. The drinks at the bar, the service, the food… all stellar. Oh, and of course, the view is unsurpassed! I would not hesitate to recommend 71Above to anyone who wants to thoroughly enjoy a special occasion. Fine dining without the stuffy attitude.

I enjoyed the wonderful vistas and delicious food

By YacchanAmarone |

We were entertained by an American partner company. Unfortunately, it wasn't a window seat, but occasionally I went to the window to take in the view. The night view from the 71st floor was spectacular. The meal cost about 100 USD for a course meal with appetizer, main course and dessert. I had grilled octopus and a rib-eye steak. In particular, the steak was full of umami and very delicious. There was also a fairly good selection of wines. We told the sommelier about our budget and desired production areas and varieties, and they selected the wines. The wine was delicious and went well with the food. The fee was about 250 USD including tax. I think we can lower the price of wine a little bit if we keep it down. This is a restaurant I would recommend if it fits your budget.

Good Restaurant

I went here for dinner. The pasta stuff was great. I don't know what else to say about this good restaurant, because there are so many things i like about it,

Do not waste your money on the chefs table

By belle1627 |

We waited far too long for someone to come to our chefs table. Food was at best, just okay. We paid alot of money for the 4 of us and 3 of the dishes were vegetables and the last was a piece of chicken that was beyond salty. The desserts were also less then impressive. The plating was boring and lacked imagination. We sent back all of our dishes barely eaten or half eaten. At the end, I feel the waitress sensed our dissatisfaction and asked if we were ok. We explained our issues. She left to get our bill. We waited so long we actually got up to find someone, also I should mention we were the 8:45 seating and the kitchen was been cleaned as we still were at our table including dimming the lights. We did not feel welcomed. She finally returned to say “we tried to figure out what to do to make this better but couldn’t come up with anything so we just hope you’ll come back”. Wow. That’s customer service? I will not return and I would not recommend.

Nice place with view, poor management and treatment (biased/racial)

By Shankar G |

The restaurant has so much to offer being on the 71st floor but it is being mismanaged or not being used to its full potential. 1. Reservation must have a selection of seats so there is no guess that someone going there for a city view experience will be disappointed. 2. The restaurant can charge an additional surcharge for window seats and solve the issue but unfortunately, this is left to the managers' and ushers' mercy. 3. Food is okay/unique not value for money but it is for the view you go there not so much for the food experience. 4. Wait staff are good but not very courteous or have an interest in being extra elegant because the 18% gratuity is already billed and so get their tip anyway so they have that care not attitude. 5. While entering the building or restaurant good help or people are leading you up to the table, once you finish dinner they don't care and don't even show customers how to go down to the lobby (the elevator panel is weird). NOW MY EXPERIENCE: Reserved a table for 4 and when I got there they gave me middle-row seating, there was another family that was sitting at the window but left just after we sat down. I requested the waitress to shift me to the window table but she said sorry our manager is not allowing it. We continued our dinner and another family was given the table and the family next to us left before us then I noticed that there were two gentlemen already sitting at another table but were moved to that table which I asked for. This was very humiliating for me and went up to the manager and told him that this was unfair treatment he was adamant that it was based on a first come first serve basis but the guys already sat at another table like us but were moved to that table, the manager did not have a good reason and kept blabbering. I told him that it was still UNFAIR and left the place. My recommendation is there are other elegant places better service and experience.

Best Experience in LA

By Sibelcay |

The experience is unique, food is great, set up is out of this world. Where the earth you buy your table, or 18% service charge included? The view is nothing like anywhere, you feel like you are in a plane or just hanging from the sky. Service was superb. The cocktail list has some originals. One time is not enough. We were looking at the Dodgers stadium, we want to come back on a game night to watch the fireworks! We did 3 courses, and each ordered different stuff. The plate portions are tiny, so we had room for dessert, which is separate, like the 4th course. The windows were tinted but we asked to remove it and they did. Steak was great as well as the other 5 we ordered like soup, octopus, pasta, beets, oyster, chocolate cake, etc...

Great view from DTLA, yummy food

By Rocky Road |

Sitting alone at the bar, the view is to the West, Hollywood Hills, Mid-Wilshire. The best views will be during a Santa Anna, when there is dry air & no fog. I ordered the tasting menu, most dishes were yummy, but some had unusual combinations that didn't quite work together. The chilled grilled avocado was one of them. The pomegranite seeds and crunchy things were interesting, but didn't blend with the grilled avocado. The bartender noticed and gave me a free yummy soup. The octopus was great, but some of the other ingredients were just OK. And the duck was good, but the beets didn't quite compliment the duck. Desert was a fantastic combination, that was inhaled quickly even though I was comfortly full from the tasting menu. 18% tip added to bill, I usually tip more, so added on a little extra for the great service and view. Highly recommend for a romantic couples night out, solo diners can probably skip.

Beautiful view

By Sally N |

Went there to celebrate birthdays. Checking in was somewhat confusing. The view was gorgeous, food was presented beautifully, but very pricey. If we wanted to sit at the window, it was extra. For what we paid, you would think it would include a ticket to the observation deck. We were told we needed to go back downstairs and pay for a ticket to go to observation deck. I’ve wanted to come here since it opened. I had my experience and am over it.

Disappointed

By Lisa M |

On arrival lovely place, although very cold. I commented to the waiter as we sat down and he said it was nice! Food was ok although every course was cold. There was a problem With 2 of our starters which was the artichoke, it was so hard we couldn't cut it. The waiters were very apologetic and kindly brought other starters instead of. Skipped the puddings as we were so cold, advise I take a jumper.

Moms birthday dinner

Just came home after being on a cloud alll night at 71Above. Our serve Michael M really curated a magnificent birthday celebration dinner for my mother. There were four of us so we had all kinds of dishes such as the oyster, king crab, ribeye, scallops, and other amazing dishes. Quality is amazing. Wine pairing is worth the extra. Service is top notch. Thank you Michael M for the amazing dining experience. Safe to say I will be returning!

This place deserves more stars. The view is unbelievable. You can see the whole cry. Every part of the Resturant around the windows the view is awesome. The drink was ver delicious. I order sea breeze. They had the drink in smash ice. The touch made the drink so delicious & cool. We order from their small menu. The portion was good for us ( we are not a big eater, but if you are hungry you should order from big menu). The food was delicious. The server was so accommodating. Explain the menu very patiently. This place is must see.

Great atmosphere and views on the 71st floor in downtown LA. The service was great. Our dinner started with an amazing Amuse Bouche! Everything was fabulous, drinks, wine selection, entrees and dessert! We will definitely be back.

View from the top

This restaurant is a must to visit and dine. I brought guest from Vancouver and Santa Maria, CA. We had a great time having lunch. For starters, the elegance of this rooftop lounge is up to par.Only per reservations. We were expecting a fufu(tiny portions)servings, but wait the portions were just PERFECT, I ordered the brussel sprouts for my appetizer and its delish, and my main course meal which is fish is so fresh and was a perfect portion. It is so yummmm.....The ambiance, view, setting is perfect. It is not loud. We were seated by the window and the ray of the sun is gorgeous. I will definitely bring more guests here and conduct business too. Love being an Angeleno ♡

spent 200 dollars on 3 course meal and didnt even get full i had to go to mcdonalds after. the fire alarm went off for about 10 minutes and it was just horrible service I persoanlly think you should not have dinner here unless you only go for the view

Delicious Food and Fantastic View of DTLA!

By Swisscss |

I had no idea what to expect, as I found it on line. The food was outstanding and the views were unforgettable! Especially on a day after the rain in LA! Service was great. The only thing I was not sure about was the pre-fixe menu. I sent a friend there and warned her because it was pricey, and she said one can order a la carte at the bar. I would defiantly go back and bring more people from out of town!

Money well spent

By jamesalanlong |

My wife and I came here on a date night and we were blown away. The view is amazing and it helps that the windows in the restaurant were clean so you could actually enjoy it. My wife and I had the 3 course tasting menu but we ordered an extra side so it was 3.5 courses each. The food was really good. My most memorable bite was the Octopus, which I highly recommend. I was also impressed with the wine list (not the most extensive I've ever seen, but I really like Riesling and they had a bottle I coveted). The service was absolutely on point. At every stage we were greeted and felt welcomed. I walked to the bathroom and passed it, and someone personally walked me to it to be sure I has located it (instead of just verbally telling me). They staff was attentive without being overbearing. Truly money well spent, and I can't wait to do it again.

High-style

By HDamgaard |

Our best dinner in L.A. Went there for a normal table, because the window seats were all occupied one week ahead. Definitely still worth it. The view you can still enjoy it. The food really delicious. We choose the 3 dishes with wine-pairing. Those guys really know about wine, and how what wine must be served to each dish, so it was a really enjoyable evening. And the price, is for sure valuable. You get more than what you pay for.

The Perfect Lunch!

By David K |

What an experience. You feel like you are soaring over LA and the view is just breathtaking. We shared the squid ink pasta with crab and market fish which was salmon that day. Both were spectacular. Also, you can't imagine burrata can be that good but it is-- simply amazing. And the plating of the Hamachi Crudo is right out of a gourmet magazine. The service is spot on the the cocktails are not too be believed. We shared the banana ice cream for desert which was a great special ending to a wonderful meal!

Great sunset and margarita

By Kythris |

The menu at the restaurant has 3 dishes and it was definitely not for my 8 years old son: they were so kind to allow us just one dish so we could enjoy sunset and have a fantastic margarita but we were not obliged to do a full menu (I would have done it if we were only adults!€

Unbelievable view

By tra_lbug |

This building makes the ones around it look “small” from the 71st floor. Literally went up just to look but will go back for drinks.

Superior experience!!

By adalbert3 |

Came with a group for a wine dinner and had one of those fantastic evenings. Every single course that the chef prepared was worthy of merit. I am not sure if all the courses we experienced are on the menu every night, but I am fairly certain they usually offer the Farm Egg--WOW!! Added to the outstanding dishes is a spectacular view of downtown LA. They have an extremely knowledgeable sommelier---she is very helpful with wine and food pairings. Excellent food, gorgeous views and helpful staff--ideal for business, a special occasion or that romantic night out.

Its the View...and the Food

By Penelopewms |

After navigating the elevators in the US Bank building we arrived on the 71st floor and into a very contemporary high ceiling space, lined floor to ceiling with windows. The restaurant features a two course selection menu for $35. We ordered a plum soup, roasted carrots with burrata, roasted squash and octapus with potatoes and capers

Some of the food is excellent and some just OK but view is spectacular. Next time drinks only.

By MATTHEW K |

Went for wedding anniversary. Restaurant is Prix Fixe only at $75 pp. plus another $45 for wine pairing. Starters/first course was excellent--oysters, foie gras were both fantastic. Steak and Halibut mains were just OK. Sunset was amazing though so worth the trip. Next time will just get a drink at the bar/can order a la carte at bar as well. Also found out can prepay to guarantee table at window. Really amazing views.

71 floors up the views are stunning , The bar staff no how to make great cocktails, but most important the food was excellent with wine pairing, not cheap but worth every penny

Great views, food and service!

By Travelosivi |

Wow! Everything is better 71 floors above the LA skyline I was already excited when the hubby was going to bring me here for a pre-Valentine's dinner as I love restaurants with a view but I got even more excited when I found this to be #1 on the list of discoverLA's most romantic places in LA The check in desk on the ground level resembled more of a corporate building lobby but a bit more chic. You then take the elevator to the 54fl and then to 71st. Ambiance: 5/5. The restaurant is very modern with beautiful ceiling and modern light fixtures. The floor to ceiling windows allowes you to clearly see the LA skyline even if your table is not right by the window We went to the lounge area while we waited for the rest of our party. Going at 6pm allowed us to see the bright city view turned into a night skyline full of lights. Our 3-course $75 dinner included: *Bread which was nice and warm. Even the butter was yummy *Palate cleanser: a bite of a mango with chili powder and a tasty edamame *First course: I chose BOTH the oyster with uni and caviar and the Hamachi since I couldn't decide (Additional ones are +$17). The Oysters (2) were not chilled but still plump and juicy, topped with uni and caviar. Everything was delish and they had a creamy champagne sauce that was to die for. They were beautifully presented on top of small rocks. The Hamachi was fresh and delicious, carefully plated around citrus and passion fruit sauce. Both were excellent choices: 5/5. *Second course: I got the foie gras since I don't get to eat it often. It was very buttery and a tad too salty. Didn't come with enough bread to eat it with. The bread was very good though. Overall, this dish is heavy for one. Definitely good to share. It was served with some apple sauce which helped with the saltiness but I preferred it without: 4/5. I also tried the Octopus which was ok, served with a mustard sauce which im not a fan of *Third course: seared scallops (2). These were ok, they could have used a bit more seasoning. It also came with a nutty spread I wasn't crazy about: 3.5/5 *Desserts were all beautifully and artfully presented. We shared a Chocolate one, pistachio and my favorite was a coconut custard with tapioca and toasted rice on top and matcha sorbet. It also had a hint of basil. It wasn't a table favorite so I happily devoured it: 5/5 Service: 5/5. Everyone from the waiter to the bus boys were attentive and friendly. The Manager Gabriel D. handled a situation we had with another patron very professionally. He went above and beyond to make sure our party enjoyed our stay. Kudos to him! Overall, the awesome views+great food= 5 star dining experience

Stunning Views, Lovely Space

By Eric G |

Located on the 71st floor of the US Bank Tower (the building that houses SkySpace and the slide and that was formerly known as the Library Tower), the Skylounge is a beautiful bar with incredible views of Los Angeles. This is a great choice for a drink, particularly in the evening. There is something magical about looking out over the City twinkling at night, and even more so when you are looking down at the helicopters flying below. Note that I didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment on the food.

Another Great DTLA hotspot!

By Trudi G |

4 of us went for dinner and were blown away by the size and shape of this beautiful restaurant...the waitstaff were truly helpful...we had to wait at the bar a few minutes but were catered to and then taken directly to our table by the window to enjoy the spectacular view! if you alway see a view from one angle and then are viewing it from a different perspective it's amazing what you really see...Food and Wines were totally yummy and different...we all ordered different items and tasted all of them...

Not a Fu Fu Restaurant

I was kind of skeptical about a beautiful place with the view out of this world. But the service was impeccable, food was great and the view was spectacular.

Views were complemented by the delicious food and excellent service

By Lee_B_LosAngeles |

We came here for lunch in a big group. At first, we were hesitant because we came with one young child and two older kids. But this place is surprisingly kid-friendly. Very fancy but not pretentious. Drinks and variety of selection was really good. Their 2-course lunch was just the right size and matched its prices. Service was really good, not at all obtrusive yet still very attentive. My only complaint is that to get to the resto on the 71st floor, there's a lot of transferring from one elevator to the next to the next. But this is typical of any high-rise building in a big city so just plan accordingly and be mindful of your reservation time. We will definitely be back to try this place at dinner time.

Excellent service

Aside from the stunning view, the staff was attentive without smothering. The drinks were crafted by an expert mixologist who understood the difference between social lubrication and total anesthesia. The food was tasty and well proportioned. 71 above may be just to the right of Mt Olympus.
