Best Pizza I have ever had!!!

By derekjones54 |

Ok, I know this is big claim. I have had a lot of pizza and a lot of good pizza too! I’ve had New York (even went to Lombardi’s), Chicago, Californian, etc. But 786 degrees is in a league of its own. The owner moved to Naples Italy for a few years just to learn how to make authentic traditional neopolitan pizza. While there he also bought an authentic wood fire pizza oven made with lava rock from Mt Vesuvius. So the oven can get super hot on the inside without it being hot on the outside at all. Because of the heat, the pizzas cook in about 90 seconds. Why is that important? Because it makes the dough light and fluffy, almost like pastry. It is AMAZING. And to top it offf, they offer exotic flavored pizzas in addition to standards. So you have a chicken tikka masala pizza, a doner kabob pizza, a chorizo pizza, and so on. The chef/owner tries to come up with new flavors inspired by the different cuisines around the world. I have had almost every pizza on the menu now. I try to go there at least once a week. They are all amazing and every person I have brought with me literally says “wow” after they take their first bite. It is kind of out of the way, up north of LA off the 5 freeway at the Sheldon Ave exit. And it is a little tiny place in a small little strip mall. But it is soooo worth it. If you are in LA and looking for a culinary adventure you really should make the trip up to 786. You will not be disappointed. Just make sure you check their hours. They are usually open from noon to 2pm and then from 5 to 9pm. They are closed from 2pm to 5pm. Just keep that in mind when planning your trip over there.

Unique pizza selection. For $20 we ordered the small which was more than sufficient for the 2 of us. It had chicken, cilantro, delicious cheese and sauce. It was delicious. Not much room inside, but a nice park across the street. Very personal and efficient service. We highly recommend.

Pride in pizza

By lyndsjp |

From the moment you walk in you’ll be greeted and they will welcome you and tell you about the oven and the menu. The pizza is great, prices good, atmosphere is quaint. If you’re there for the atmosphere, you’re missing the point!

Amazing

I've had some of the best pizza in New York and Italy... This place is equal or better. Stop looking for another place to get pizza and try this place for yourself.

Delicious and great service

First, you are greeted once you come into that door. The staff is quick to notice I'm a first time customer and recommended a good option suitable for my 4 year old and me. The style of pizza is different than your regular pizza spot. I would've loved a crunchier crust, but it was delicious. My daughter ate most of it. I definitely recommend it. Great staff and great pizza!

Best Pizza Ever!!!

This is the lightest and most tasty pizza I have had in Los Angeles. You won't feel weighed down afterwards. It is ready in minutes. Friendly people and fast service. Can't wait to visit again! All Fired Up was the pizza I really enjoyed.

Great pizzas

Everything I come in I am greeted and feel at home. You can tell the guys behind the counter love what they do and it shows with how they treat you. I have been here about 4 times and each time I have gotten a different pizza which I have not been disappointed with. I will say the tikki masala is my favorite. I highly recommend this place.

Best pizza in the area!

By Maria 🪷 |

We’ve been in the area for a long time, but we hadn’t heard about this place until someone casually but emphatically recommended it to us. 20 minutes later, we hopped in the car to go order at the counter. The pizzas were ready quickly and all of us were thrilled about what we ordered. Their menu is unique, but includes pizzas like the DOC margherita that can appeal to traditionalists. This is, by far, the best pizza in the area. The staff was also lovely and helpful. Since it was our first time, we each could get a free drink. Highly recommend!

Outstanding pizza

By as4beatles |

First time there and we were greeted by a very friendly staff. As a promo they gave us our first drinks on the house. Then they explained the many different pizzas on the menu. All of them sounded great and unique. But to really see how good a pizza is you go basic. I had the Margherita pizza. It's a cheese pizza with basil. The crust was perfect and flavorful, as was the sauce, with a great quality mozzarella. The only recommendation I would make is spread the basil out to get that flavor in every bite. There were about 6 whole leaves near the center. Which meant the first bite of a slice and the basil was gone. The size and price of the pizza was great also. I would not call it "cheap" that's a horrible word, I would call it less expensive. There was more than enough to satisfy two people but if you are a big eater, you can eat the whole pie yourself. If you live nearby and pizza is on your mind, if you don't try this then you are missing some great pizza.

This is the place!

First of all, do not be put off by the looks or the parking. Your search will be rewarded. The host is friendly and informative. They use a wood-fired oven which is heated to 786 degrees. The pizza is hand tossed, right before your eyes. There are many topping combinations to try. We did the tikka masala pizza. Kind of like an Indian Pizza. It was fabulous! If you are a big eater, you can eat one yourself. Or two of you can share one. Yes, a little crowded, a little out of the way, and challenging parking. But it is better than any pizza I've had in the last 20 years!

Delicious!

We searched yelp for a 5 star restaurant and found this place. The pizza was delicious! There were so many out of the ordinary creations, pizzas from different countries. The employees were extremely nice and helpful, going above and beyond to make you feel welcome and to explain their amazing pizza. The place is a little hole in the wall with not much seating but the food makes up for that. The crust was melt in your mouth and the flavors were spot on! We will definitely be back!

Pizza of the gods

By James L |

So yeah. This place is way off any tourist path. It’s in a dingy strip mall in a weird part of The Valley. First impressions aren’t promising but aren’t those indications of a true hidden gem? Inside you’ll find a big oven 3 tables and the prep area. If it’s your first time you’ll get the standard spiel of how the oven is made from the ash of Mt. Vesuvius and how it bakes in 60-90 seconds etc etc. but go with it. It’s actually interesting. You may even get a free drink if it’s your first time. What they don’t talk about is the multitude of awards all over the place. This little shop has so many awards it’s crazy to think it’s all done out of this little hole in the wall. Personally I love it and I think you will too. It’s not regular pepperoni and cheese. The pizzas are themed. In a sense. I’ve tried the tika masala, the el chapo and today was the Istanbul. I’ve yet to have one I didn’t like and even if you don’t think it’s the best it will at least make your top 3. 786 Degrees is absolutely amazing!

Fantastic

A group of us went to 786 Degrees for dinner and the place was packed. It was clear to us that it was a popular place. We were treated with excellence, our pizzas were delicious, and were treated to complementary soft drinks. If I lived in the area I would return many times

Amazing pizza

By aospino |

It’s obvious why they have all those signed throughout restaurant regarding awards and being the best pizza. Easily fits in top pizza I’ve ever had. Very unique.

Delicious!

We ordered the Bombay Tikka Masala and the Napolitana - to try both a unique pizza and something more traditional. Both were excellent! The service was prompt and friendly! We had a chance to meet the owner and appreciated the friendly vibe.

The Gluten Free/Vegan Pizza was Awful

By Jennifer E |

Almost inedible. The pictures on the menu are nothing like the pizzas looked in real life. Like awful cardboard with some cheese and cilantro sprinkled on top like a hot pocket. Except hot pockets are delicious compared to what we ordered and were forced to consume because they delivered it and we were starving. There was a whole bunch of pizza left over that was tossed in the garbage. I felt totally gypped for the $48 we spent for two pizzas. I can’t even imagine that a non-gluten-free crust would make this pizza any better. Maybe they changed since Covid but take into consideration you may too be wasting your money.

One the best pizza joints in Los Angeles

By Ron J R |

I have recently learned of 786 Degrees. Do not let the neighborhood or exterior deceive you. 786 Degress is dedicated to the pizza making tradition. This is a pizza joint. Inside 786 Degree is a wood fired oven that turns out magic and a few tables. All 786 Degrees makes is pizza. The pizza is excellent from the dough to the unique take on popular flavors with the freshest ingredients. Be ready to try a few different pizza's if you go with a group. Amazing pizza made by friendly people.

The Best Neapolitan Pizza in Los Angeles

By rickpoet |

I live in the San Fernando Valley but don’t know that I’ve ever driven to, in, or through Sun Valley. All I know now is that 786 Degrees Pizza is there and it’s worth the drive from anywhere in the country. A lot of places claim to serve artisan “style” pizza…this place actually serves you artisan pizza made by actual, award winning pizza artisans. Have you ever seen a pizza place with an awards shelf displaying the accolades they’ve received for pizza? No? Well head here and you will. They’ve covered every detail here…from the authentic pizza oven (taking up most of the very compact restaurant) to the uniforms the staff wear (did we mention if it’s your first time there they give you whatever drinks you want as a welcome? They care about you…they really do!)…but really it’s about the food. First off the crust on these pies was amazing. Really a perfect wood fired crust…perfectly soft on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside. You would do well just to order a crust…seriously. We had the Fungi Lama pizza (one of their award winning pies) which came with arugula on top. I’ve been using the word “amazing” a lot in this review and, sorry, but here it is again…this pizza was amazing. We also had the Napolitana – a basic tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella pie. (When we hit a new pizza place, we need a basic cheese and sauce pie just as a reference. This one was also very good. My wife eat’s gluten free…They import a gluten free dough from another location…it’s nice that they offer it, though honestly it wasn’t particularly special. If you’re a fan of vegan cheese they also offer one made with farmers market almond milk. My wife’s not so much a fan of vegan cheeses but she thought this was a little better than the over-the counter vegan cheeses she’s tried. Last thing I want to mention is how reasonably priced they are…the pies they’re serving would be a lot more expensive in other parts of town…they really want to make their food accessible with very reasonable pricing. Go here. Eat here. Your pizza stomach will think you forever.

You'll love it

This place is such a hidden gem and I'm here for it!!! I do not live by here so you can judge all you want, but I had two pizzas during my visit. Bombay Tikka Masala - I love Indian food and I had to try this fusion. I absolutely loved the topping and the curry sauce on top was pure perfection. Shrimp Tuscany - A little bit of creamy pesto added on with shrimp is such genius. Literally pasta, minus the pasta, on a pizza. Between the two I preferred the masala, but that's because I really enjoy Indian food. So, of course that is based on taste preference. I need to come back here and try their other pizzas. The pizzas here are so unique and I absolutely loved getting a nontraditional pizza. The parking lot is very small and there is virtually no indoor seating so keep that in mind. There are also a few tables outside as well. Most people who visit get their orders to go. What absolutely blew me away was the service. There are also vegetarian options if that's for you. It always comes down to the service when visiting an establishment. THANK YOU THANK YOU for the wonderful welcome. From the few dollars off for paying cash instead of card and offering free drinks. I absolutely appreciate it and you have made a customer out of me. I will gladly drive out of my way to come here again.

Best pizza in Los Angeles. NOT joking!

By sandraV8206IK |

Found this tasty surprise via word of mouth and I am so glad I did! Their ingenious menu and flavor combinations were outstanding and pizza is as good (if not better) than many places in Italy and Europe. The true gem is their dough and that pizza oven that bakes tastiest, crunchiest and most fluffy dough that is further enhanced by their worldly and sophisticated ingredient combinations. Just go and see for yourself. I will be back soon!

Best pizza in town

By arnkrishn |

Wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Last week my friend took me and my brother to 786 Degrees and we had the best pizza of our lives. It is a cozy, hole in the wall place with limited seating (may be 12-15 at max.) but honestly I can wait in line for hours to eat their pizza. We went on a weekday, so got a seat without a wait. Since it was our first time and may be the place wasn't that crowded, the owner - Ali Haider shared with us his passion about making pizzas the way he does. It is traditionally cooked in 100% wood fire and most of the ingredients are organic, local and seasonal (those are 3 key things I look for in my food). I tried Fungi Lama and it was just awesome. They have some of the best pizzas out there and they are way better than the regular assembly line pizza chains. Would love to visit again when I get a chance.

Unique pizza experience with tasty pizza - must try at least once

By rambo6376 |

Very neat concept of having pizzas 'from around the world'. Basically trying to capture the essence of some flavors into a pizza. We went with 3 diff ones: chorizo which was an ode to mexico, habibi which was lebenese, and chicken tikka for Indian. There's a dozen other options on the menu and I cant wait to be back. Staff was very friendly. Cost is slightly high, the 3 pizzas were enuf for 2 adults+2 children and ended up being about 75$.

Delicious

Our if the way of tourist destinations but a great place to have a quick suit down for lunch. Pizza is made while you wait, delicious right out of the oven.

The real deal

By NE_AK_CA |

This tiny, strip-mall pizza shop lives up to all the raves it receives. They make simply amazing pizza and do so in such a welcoming way. Each pizza is handmade with properly fermented dough and topped with extremely fresh and creative ingredients. Plus, the prices are surprisingly low. Just delicious. The place is really small so plan on sharing a table with other pizza lovers. As a bonus, this spot is right off the freeway near the Burbank airport, so if you're flying in or out stop by for a treat.

Great Pasadena location, Serving free pizza to Shut In folks- and wonderful take out to MN refugees!

By Joel B |

This restaurant is also currently open for take out etc. in Pasadena on Washington Blvd. The pizza we tried at lunch was delicious- the menu is delightful- and their press is terrific! Our VRBO owners recommended it to us as being “ the best” and we were not disappointed. During this Pandemic they are also serving free pizza to the elderly, which is wonderful. As you might think, their service is both kind and friendly.

The Best Napolani Pizza

By scooter46 |

This little hole in the wall is surprising. A friend took us here in a small run down strip mall. But don't let that fool you. Their pizza was unique and excellent. At the counter you're treated to an detailed, friendly, animated explanation of the 13+ pizzas, non of which are ordinary nor can they be modified. You get what is listed and that's a good thing. This is not a pizza factory. This is true to Naples pizza. The pizzas are about 14 inches across and cost about $1 per inch but the drinks were free. The five of us shared five different pizzas and we took home leftovers the equivalent of one pizza. The crust was light, thin and cooked in a wood burning oven. The toppings were fresh and very flavorful. There were three tables for about 20 customers but most were take out. There were five cooks, all some of the friendliest guys you'll meet and eager to make sure you loved their pizza and we did. They apparently have won a number of awards and had video of Jay Leno eating there. Jay knows food.... well he knows cars so I'm sure he knows food. Anyway, for a very unique and tasty pizza, check it out. I think you'll like it.
