So happy to have found this place!

By Family_Jules1969 |

I came here for lunch with my friend who wants to use 808 for catering her party. We got the Trifecta with Kalua pig, 808 Fried Chicken and Shoyu Chicken. All were delicious and we plan on ordering them for the party. The mac salad salad was good and so was the coleslaw. Brought me back to Hawaii. I recommend trying all of their delicious sauces with the meats. That made the meal complete for us!

So good!

This place is to die for! I love the 808 chicken and spam misubi. Perfect for curing a hangover or just satisfying a big appetite. The bomb!

Gets better every time!

Best sandwich of my life....Kalua Pig slathered with slaw! I have always ordered one of their delicious plates (the Trifecta being my face), but decided to do the sandwich this time after seeing somebody else's mouthwatering order.... It did not disappoint in the slightest! Staff at the food truck by Gigantic Brewery are amazing and always take extra care of us.. can't thank you guys enough! See you reaaaaal soon! Best, ~S

Good Hawaiian Food

By Daniel D |

I went here with coworkers and got the two item combo with the Shanyu Chicken and the Fried chicken. Both were really good. The mac salad was good also, but I think Hawaiian Time's mac is better. If I go again I will want to try the 808 Sandwich as I heard it was really good. Not much more to say, good food, good service. Nothing blew me away, but a solid Hawaiian food place.

Deliciousness!

By Rachel Garza |

I was on vacation to visit my son in December of last year. I guess he was giving me a break from cooking all his favorite dishes that only mom can make...Tooting my own horn๐Ÿ˜ So he ask me have you ever eaten Hawaiian food,My reply was no. So he takes me to this food hub/cart next to Gigantic... And he orders me the Kalbi ribs and hawiian macaroni salad. It was love at first bite๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’– I was only in Portland for 3 weeks ,but my gorgeous son Noe made sure I got my 808 Grinds and absolutely loved it!!! I called one afternoon and asked if they still had mac salad,Funny my son Noe was on it already picking up a plate for me and Rawley Noe's son! Thankyou so much for the amazing deliciousness you serve. See you next year sincerely Rachel,Noe's mom๐Ÿ˜

AAA Hawaiian in Beaverton? Oh yeah!

By Daryl L |

We loved this place!!!! It's in a non descript strip mall that you'd never guess holds a gem if you're into Hawaiian fare. We all gave two thumbs up for the Loco Moco, Shoyu chicken, and, if we had 3 hands a third thumb goes to the 808 fried chicken & spam musubi! Our kids begged to come back again!

Hawaiian in Portland. You will not be disappointed

By bootleg711 |

Quite simply, this is some of the best hawaiian food I've had outside of Hawaii. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Go to 808 and EAT! The prices are right, and food is top notch. Spam Musubi is awesome too!

Great Food, good pricce

Have had lunch from here many times and if you ever want to feel like you are getting your lunch from a plate lunch wagon in Hawaii, this is the place. Sure the containers are different than what you may have been used to, but the taste is what will make you feel like you are back home.

Unexpected Find

By Jon H |

My wife wanted to go to the Food pods in downtown Portland for her birthday. Once I walked by 808 Grinds and saw they had Loco Moco, I had to stop. Fortunately for me, I had the last one available for the day (which seemed like a good sign). There is plenty of public parking around, but since it was freezing outside and covered in snow, we had to go find a place to sit and eat, which wasn't easy. Portions were perfect and I would definitely go back again.

My Must Have

By Edward M |

Every time I been to Portland I must have this food cart. Absolutely love all options they make. Love the sauces provided with the meal... don't forget to use them!

Always On Point!!

By Sam DeLiso |

The Kalua Pig is always my go to and NEVER disappoints. I recently went all out with the Tri-Fecta Plate and was blown away by their fried and shoyun chicken....so savory!!! Their Mac Salad is another favorite addition. If you haven't been, you must go pronto. Friendly staff and incomparable flavors from the menu to be enjoyed! Thanks. Best, ~S

Just awesome!

One of the better Loco Moco's I've ever had, including my travels to Hawaii. Ginormous portions yet still incredibly tasty. Love the mac salad which is typically flavorless. This place is one of my favorite food carts in downtown Portland.

Great Plate Lunch

By Snowbeardude |

The food and the atmosphere at this place remind you of a no-nonsense plate lunch establishment on the islands. We usually get a combo, typically the 808 combo (kalua pork and fried chicken) with of course a big included scoop of macaroni salad or the Da Combo (shoyu chicken and kalua pork) with the included Mac salad. It's hard to finish the plate since the servings are pretty big. The food is excellently prepared. My kids will eat here repeatedly.

Best Hawaiian meal around!

By mokemo |

For years we have enjoyed 808 Grinds food cart at Timbers games. We were so lucky to find the brick and mortar location at Cedar Hills. We love the low key, island vibe and friendly service. We tried ahi poke spicy and regular on rice. It was delicious and well portioned. The chicken pork combo plate was hugs with rice and Mac salad. The menu is extensive so we will have to make more visits to try everything.

really excellent food and service-- actually this is for the Hillsboro location not the down town Portland one

WOW I was just amazed both at the quality of the food AND how welcoming and truly an Aloha spirit here greeted warmly at door, had lots help deciding what to order, they brought food out to patio and checked in on us and said thank you the food was really really good.

Yummy Hawaiian Food

By Nancy J |

I have visited the street cart in downtown Portland and today I visited the restaurant on 10100 SW Park Way. True Hawaiian food and hospitality. Do not miss either of these places. I enjoyed the 808 Chicken sandwich w/mac salad, and a piece of guava chiffon cake - one of Grace's fantastic cakes. You must try all of her baked goods.

A taste of the islands

By DewPortland |

For many years I worked every 6th week in Honolulu. I developed an appreciation for local food. 808 Grinds is authentic and delicious. I enjoyed 808 Grind fried chicken with rice and the best macaroni salad I ever remembered having in the islands. 808 Grinds is hidden at the end of the Cedar Hills shopping center at the opposite end from the DMV. It is worth a try for sure .

Lunch with Kilakila

By Makuahine_Eha |

Visiting our son who attends Pacific University... he recommended this place and the food was simply ONO! The Kalua Pig (yes, pig) was spot on, the Hamburger Steak was melt in your mouth good! Like a little piece of Hawai'i right here in Oregon.

an island in Cedar Hills

By JurgisRudkus |

I ate at the Cedar Hills location which is right off hwy26 and hwy217. This is a casual restaurant wIth very good Hawaiian food. The counter service is friendly and meals are between eight and twelve dollars. I advise Huli-Huli chicken.

The Best Hawaiian Food!

By billc0tt |

I am a former resident of Hawaii- born and raised and going back two generations. I know good Hawaiian food and this is it! Lived here in the Portland-Seattle area now for 15 years and finally found this wonderful spot. Very reasonable prices and very friendly staff with great aloha spirit. We eat take- out from here at very least two times per month, sometime more. Try the Kaluha pig / pulled pork plate. Wonderful food!

Local Hawaiian Ono Comfort food

By suemi73 |

Food is love when you grew up in the islands and this place makes me feel like I'm back at home. The 808 Fried Chicken with the Spicy Mayo Sauce added on top is my favorite, it is their Mochiko Chicken and its sooo good! Also, they make their own Char Siu and it can be ordered in a sandwich or it also comes in their Saimin. It is flavorful and I crave that sucka!! By the way, the Saimin, which is a local ramen like dish, is Money on a rainy Portland day! Overall this place is a haven for local Hawaii folks who find themselves in the Pacific Northwest and need food, Real Food!

Taste of Hawaii

Food brought me back to Oahu. Generous portions at a reasonable price. Definitely will go back for my Hawaiian fix

Taste of Hawaii

By tklempan |

I lived for a few years on Kauai, and the other reviewers are right: this tastes exactly as I remember plate lunches tasting. I stopped by towards the end of lunch, so of course they were out of some stuff, but I take that as a good sign. The chicken was excellent and I would eat there more often if I lived in Portland.

Poke and everything else!!

Right next to Gigantic Brewing, excellent with beer. More items that you want to try than you have room in one sitting. One look at the menu and you say "okay"!!

Just disappointing

By austria313 |

i was excited to find 808 at the Portland Food Chart Pods by 10th & Alder. I was excited to try their Kalua Pork Plate Lunch. I was excited to try their signature sauce and the teriayki sauce. Unfortunately their food was just disappointing. They obviously don't think about how their cart pod customers are going to eat their food. The Kalua pork is all stuck together and in really long strips of pork, which are impossible to eat when you have just a plastic fork or chopstick that they provide. The pork is more salty than sweet, but basically bland. I found weird, inedible mushy pieces of pig in with the meat. Disgusting. The gentleman heating the food told me the 808 sauce might be ok with the Kalua pork, but didn't really know!?! It just wasn't good. If you want great Hawaiian food hit Bamboo Grove.

Great Hawaiian catering

By RjessMMM |

Just returned from an event catered by 808. The grinz were ono tasted local. The macaori salad is such staple in local plate lunches. This version was the typical mayo laden starter. Not quite as good as Rainbows or Graces in Honolulu but pretty close. They used peas instead of slivers of carrots. Next was the Kailua pig. So many versions are overly salted and barely edible. This one was great and wonderful flavor. Moist and not greasy. The shoyu chicken likewise was not overly salty. Tender with fantastic flavor. The sauce on rice is just a bonus. Kalbi was tender and meaty. It comes with a sauce that was fairly sweet teriyaki version. Enjoyed it immensely. All in all the catering version was great and I would recommend it for any sort of event. I look forward to eating it at the restaurant next. Enjoy.

Uniquely Northwestern Hawaiian cuisine at its finest!

By KenBobPDX |

This is a great spot for a quick lunch or take out. My wife and I make this a weekly habit for our lunch rendezvous. The Saimin with Char Siu pork is delicious and filling. The 808 chicken is a great lunch favorite as well. The thing that makes 808 Grinds so unique are not just the authentic Hawaiian dishes, but their crazy sauces. Try the sweet wasabi sauce or the habanero teriyaki sauce. They are sure to tickle your taste-buds. Come early for lunch if you want to get a seat, the place fills up fast! The portions are generous and the wait staff are superb.

Ono Hawaiian plate lunch!

By KaneoheBoy |

Wow does Portland have an amazing array of food carts (they call them "carts" vs. "trucks" because the carts don't move). There are over 30 in this area and I decided to try Ono Grinds because I love and miss the traditional Hawaiian plate lunch. I got Shoyu Chicken which was so tender and ono. Came with white rice and a really good mac salad that was much better than what one sometimes gets in Hawaii. The food was high quality and another nice thing about this place is that you can get your meal in a "Go Box" which is a recycleable plastic box that gets cleaned and re-used. Give it a shot!
