This was my first visit to 888. It was highly recommended by a friend. Now, when it comes to Asian food I'm very picky so my expectations were not real high. I ordered the Chicken Cashew. The serving size is large. It was a delicious, spicy dish so I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken ratio was way too low in comparison to the amount of vegetables for my taste, but other than that I was pleased. The service was friendly if not very fast. The prices are reasonable. This place is open until 2 a.m. and stays busy from open to close apparently. Overall, well done.

This restaurant is amazing. I moved to Texas 3 months ago and haven't been able to find a place as good as this one. The food and service is amazing. Top notch! Lots of variety for food choices and the saki was great! I had the Kung Pao Chicken and I enjoyed it. They could make it with less mushrooms but like I said it was still amazing!

We've been there a couple of times when we visited our children at UT. About a 15 minute drive from campus but well worth the drive. Excellent service, very friendly, and helpful. We have tried different menu items at 888 including their soup and all of the food was flavorful and fresh. The portions were large which is a big deal when you take starving students out for a meal! The cheesecake is yummy if you have room for dessert.

We came for Pho and were surprised to see a waiting line. The staff were quick to clear and clean tables so we did not have to wait very long and it was worth it. The soup was sooooo good and the staff are amazing, very attentive, helpful and the restaurant is run very well.

Lunch buffet M-W-F was a lucky find for us. Good buffets bring in lot of customers, which means the food is always fresh. Lots of choices, most of it well suited to steam table service. Mostly the food was familiar, although I'd never had mussels sate, which were excellent. Noodles, rice, fish, chicken, pork -- the gamut. You can also order off the menu. Not much atmosphere, which didn't bother the dozens of people willing to wait in the heat for a table. Loved it, and we'll be back.

Shrimp and chicken pad thai- best I’ve ever had! General Tso’s chicken- best I’ve ever had Prices and portions are great also!

The food is good and the menu is very diverse. The best thing about 888 is the price. Very affordable. Usually crowded because of its popularity.

We went there because a local relative recommended it. It was really good, specially the yellow curry. Do not mind the looks of the restaurant (renew the menus!). The service was so - so

Some of the best pho in town. Their broth is amazing. Spring rolls aren't the best, but if you get the pho, add steamed veggies. It ups the nutritional value of the whole soup.

Our overall rating of excellent is heavily based on the high food quality with low prices. Food: We ordered two appetizers: pork egg rolls and basil Bangkok chicken wings. Each appetizer was served in portions of six. The wings were insane good! The sauce is like crack, a highly addictive blend of spicy, tangy, and sweet. We devoured the tasty, crispy eggrolls. The beef panang curry (with added tofu) was perfect and the portion was huge. My wife ordered a large Pho Dac Biet with extra jalapenos. The Pho Dac Biet comes with brisket, two types of flank steak, beef tripe, and soft tendon. The steaming broth was flavorful and with added jalapenos had just the right touch of zing. Hostess: Our group of four dined on a recent Saturday evening. The host greeted us and promptly sat us at a nice little corner booth. Overall service: Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We asked many questions, and our waiter had immediate, direct answers to all our questions. Ambiance: Strip mall shabby yet hip. It’s funky but hopping at the same time. Expect an eclectic mix of patrons too, from hipster foodies to Asian families to business people. Overall cleanliness: Average Bathrooms cleanliness: Average

We ate here twice during a recent visit to Austin. the menu is huge with a wide variet of selections. Everything we had was delicious, fresh, huge portions and friendly service. We had chicken, fish, beef, seafood and the wine selection is good and very reasonably priced. All dishes are properly spiced, madeto order and the portiosn are very generous.

We've been here twice now and the food is awesome. They have a large menu featuring Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai selections. There has a crowd both times though so be prepared to wait a short while (we've had to wait about 15-20 minutes both times). The food is terrific and the portions are very large. prices are reasonable given the quality and quantity. They stay open until 2 am on weekends and had live music on Saturday night.

We found this yummy restaurant based on the TripAdvisor reviews and review from other sources. Easy to see why 888 is so highly rated. I had the Red Curry with Chicken and my boyfriend had Pho. Both meals were complex and flavorful and the servings were large. The sweet server was very helpful as we were deciding what to order. What others may view as feeling rushed, we felt the service was efficient and fast! Would definitely return for more great dishes.

Following a downtown concert that ended just before midnight, we were starving for the dinner we'd missed and were desperate to find somewhere that wouldn't present a parking challenge. We arrived at 888 about 12:15 AM and found a very busy restaurant with a vibrant crowd. We had to wait about ten minutes for a table, and since there is no formal waiting area indoors waiting for a table occurs out on the sidewalk of the strip mall while standing. However, propane heaters were available on this chilly spring night. We were seated very promptly, and service was prompt and efficient. There was even a three-piece band playing right on the serving floor until almost 1:00 AM--Texas swing/standards in this mixed Asian restaurant. That and the melting pot of patrons in the dining room contributed to a very surreal dining experience. The food was DELICIOUS--and very affordable. I ordered Combination Lo Mein, and it was very good. Portions were large, and the dish was only $8.85. My partner ordered the smaller bowl of pho, and it was HUGE. He even had to ask for a to-go container. We ordered egg rolls to share, and they were good but not remarkable. We both had hot tea, and the total bill for this tasty and filling meal was about $24. I couldn't believe our Friday date-night meal cost us so little. I'll definitely go back.

For a really good pho, broth is key. And the pho tai chin, was very yummy. To the last drop, literally. After a long day of festival, I was craving a really good bowl of pho. My bro, took me here at 930. Open late night, the place was packed, there were even police officers eating, in the corner. We has to wait 5 min for a table of two. Well worth the wait for a nice hearty bowl of pho. Would def put this on my routine pho places on my travels.

My roommate showed me this place a few years ago and I haven't stopped coming since. Any time I'm in Austin, I stop by this restaurant. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well. I have tried many things on the menu and haven't found something I didn't like.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who lives in Austin. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendly service, good ambiance and excellent food! The portions are huge and everything was delicious. We tried the ginger duck, the green curry, the Mongolian beef and general chicken and everything was great. It was also an excellent value for the portions. The only negative is that now I'm back home and I crave it all the time!

Drove down to Austin from Waco for business and asked my sister to drive up from San Antonio for lunch. She picked this place, even though her and her hubby were turned off of Asian food. This place was a great find!! We met at 11:30 and the lunch crowd had already packed the place. Brother-in-law loved his choice of the buffet and couldn't get enough of the General Tso's chicken! Sister wanted a variety (but can't handle spice) and went with the duck fried rice, then asked for the Pad Thai without any spiciness. The waiter explained how the dish would be made to reassure that the spice wouldn't be present. She loved both dishes. I had the regular Pad Thai and loved the entire dish. It had just enough spiciness (I love spice) with a mix of chicken and shrimp. The portion was large enough for that lunch, dinner later and lunch the next. Great prices too! Go early for quick seating. When we completed our visit there was a line outside! It was very loud inside, so probably not the best for a business meeting. The server was very friendly, quick to wait on us and knowledgable. Great find!

I was with a group of 8 - adults and college students. We all enjoyed our meals. Vegetarian Pho was great! Others enjoyed items from classic curry to frog legs. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Prices were reasonable. Staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely a

Looking for a meal around midnight on this side of Austin is pretty limited. Happy to find 888 on my phone. Pulled up to a busy parking lot, and very active tables. A short wait and quick service. Went for one of the Pho options and enjoyed it. The only bummer was that their liquor license was not valid that day, so I couldn't complete my joy with a cold lager. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food served. Would definitely visit this place again.

I would give it 5 stars but they took away the outdoor seating! Still love the food and the hospitality. The food quality is second to none. It's fast and inexpensive. You can't beat a 7 dollar buffet! There buffet is great and I hate buffets!

Definitely an excellent restaurant, a bit upscale, excellent service, food and good atmosphere. They have a wide variety of menu items, all of which looked really good. All I can say is try it, and you will be delightfully surpised.

We were visiting friends in Austin and asked for a good restaurant near our hotel. This one was their suggestion. It has a great selection of Asian food cooked Chinese, Thai, or Vietnamese style - all fantastic and generous portions. I don't know where to start. There were 3 of us and we shared each other's choices. The crispy shrimp and duck taco appetizers were wonderful. By the time our friend sent her suggestions, we had already ordered. It didn't matter. You can't go wrong. Just be sure to let the waiter know if you like spicy or not. The choices are vast.

After a long drive when we arrived late night in Austin our dining choices were limited so we gave this restaurant a chance and we were glad we did! We started with the spring rolls, these were the fresh ones wrapped in rice paper and they were delicious as was the accompanying peanut sauce. Then for main course I chose the pho, this was Vietnamese comfort food at its' best, broth was hot and nicely seasoned and side plate of basil and bean sprouts fresh. My partner's fried rice was also quite good. The cheerful and friendly attitude of our server who's name was Thai despite being Vietnamese was the icing on the cake making our meal a 5 star experience, and menu prices were also quite reasonable! Great start to our short visit to Austin I must say, definitely will recommend 888 to anyone who likes Asian food! The late hours are obviously also a plus!

The menu here is extensive, offering a variety of Thai and Vietnamese dishes. I was spoilt for choice. The food may not be entirely authentic but neither is it watered down and Americanised. We had the duck wrap, green curry, tom yam soup and thai style red snapper. All the dishes were tasty, especially the fish which I had my reservations about initially. As another reviewer mentioned, do not mind the looks of the restaurant because I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, large servings and affordable prices.

Fantastic food, excellent service, super short wait times. Probably the best Orange Chicken I've ever had. Extremely varied menu; something for everyone. Plus they're open late!! Definitely the place to go for Asian food.

I have been to 888 Vietnamese (or 888 Thai as we call it) at least 5 times and have never had a bad meal there. The restaurant an be busy during prime dinner hours but the line moves quickly, especially if you are a smaller party like 2 or 3. We really enjoy sitting outside on the patio and now that I think about it, I have never sat inside to eat. There are misters to keep you cool and in the evening on the weekends there is live music. The food is always great, from Pad Thai to Pad See Ew or any type of curry you can think of. On our last visit we had the jumbo tiger prawns wrapped in flank steak over curry. They were awesome! A really great meal to share and it also came with soup and spring rolls. Another nice aspect of 888 is the beer. They have a solid selection but beers also go on special and will be 2.25 or 2.75 each. Last weekend it was Firemans #4 and Singha. Beers always come with a cold, glass mug which is a nice touch. If you want more beer to take home, swing by the Growler store just to the right in the same strip mall. Additionally, the restaurant is open until 2 AM on the weekends. This may sound late but it came in handy last weekend when we went to dinner after 10 and left by 11:15. Overall, I really enjoy 888 and look forward to going back there again soon.

Having been raised in a city where food is a religion and when people wait in line for a restaurant it is actually good, I am constantly disappointed in Austin's food and restaurants. I do however believe there are some very quality inexpensive ethnic restaurants hiding in the different neighborhoods if you're willing to step out of line from Hopdaddy and actually eat good food. Asian cuisine in Austin in general is probably the weakest category but 888 is a bright spot in a city of bad Asian restaurants. Although they specialize in Vietnamese, there are a lot of menu options covering most of the basics you expect at an American Asian restaurant from Thai to Chinese. I really like their Tom Ka Gai soup. As an entree I always get either chicken, beef or shrimp egg noodle dish. Get double noodles because they are delicious. I have had the seafood clay pot and that is excellent as well. I hate Pho but friends of mine always order it from there and they love it. I have also had some of their "Chef's Entrees" like the flank steak and that is excellent as well. The place is not fancy but the wait staff is always friendly and they are open late which is a huge plus since we always seem to be there late at night. Definitely give this place a try.

We've eaten here 4 times: 3 times for dinner, and once for the amazing lunch buffet. Authentic, delicious, plentiful! Staff is very helpful. Outside patio is cute, but even with water "misters" from above, it's too hot to eat outside in summer.

You have to go for the Sea Puffs! They are the BEST crab rangoons I have ever had. I also love their Lo Mein, really good chinese food and even curry!

The location may lack something to be desired, but the food is wonderful! There are so many delicious dishes to choose from and they are all wonderful. It can get pretty crowded but it's worth the wait. They are also open late-night, which is great too! The services is good and prices are reasonable too. You won't be disappointed!

Upon the recommendation of two employees of the Omni Southpark Hotel in Austin, Texas, we dined at the 888 Vietnamese Restaurant. While not located in the nicest areas of Austin, this restaurant provides friendly service and delicious food. After some appetizers, my colleague had the KungPao Chicken with white rice and I had the KungPao Beef with brown rice. The servings were large and the food was great. We were both pleased with this dining experience.

Went here for a birthday dinner here with 6 people - place was busy but we got a table quickly. Menu offers lots of variety and large portions, so we ordered different things to share. All the food was great, except the mango rice-- which was a pale shadow of mango rice that I have enjoyed elsewhere. The lamb and the duck were particularly good. Service was excellent. And our total bill, with tip was less than $90. Cant go wrong here (if you skip desert).

My friends live close by. I'm visiting from out of town and asked for some good Asian food. They took me to 888. Wow! I was NOT disappointed! I ordered the Crispy Pad Thai. It was ON POINT! I ate until I was full and then wanted to keep eating but while my lips said "yes" my belly said "no!". I look forward to going there again and eating more. With a line out the door, you know that place is good!

Offers full range of Asian cuisines. From Vietnamese( don’t miss the ice coffee) to Thai to curry dishes if you can’t find some thing here you should just go home. Outstanding spring rolls the size of a sock with quality fillings. Nice steamed dumplings. Plus they make a great in- house mustard. Had a grilled shrimp and pork entree but the duck dishes are great also. Excellent, attentive service. My go-to in Austin.

The beef brisket soup was delicious on a cool day in Austin. Chicken soup not so good. Fresh basil and bean sprouts were served with the soups but arrived late. The dry soups on noodles with mushrooms were also first rate. Pulled pork sandwich was also flavorful. This appears to be a family restaurant that easily handles parties of 6-8. No reservations were needed.

Went here last month on a double date on a Saturday evening. It was packed, but they got us in within 15 minutes. Staff is friendly and the food came out quicker than an average restaurant. The food was the highlight! Massive servings of good quality Asian food(the selection ranges from Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and probably more). The only downside is figuring out what you want to eat. I give it my highest recommendation for a relaxed casual dinner out.

Fantastic food and service. We turned up at 9.30 and it was busy with people still arriving. Open until 11 which is great. Portions very large for hungry people.

Had the four season duck which was great!!!! Seafood wraps were very good along with the shrimp wraps as well. Wife had stir-fried chicken on crispy noddles and son had Mongolian beef. All was very good. Nice and quick service. friendly staff with plenty of attention.

Had the Panang Red Curry....great!! Though the menu said it was "3 peppers hot" (3 being hottest. Not very hot to me...next time I order a 3-pepper dish, I'll ask for a 5. And there WILL be a next time!! They are open late and have a very extensive menu!

I like their food very much, however, it seems that the quality went down in recent years. Also it became overcrowded, once we had to wait for an hour to get a table.

Had the buffet, and the Panang Curry, the Red Snapper and shrimps were excellent, egg drop soup excellent, vegetarian egg rolls great and ginger fish was good. Lunch was a wait but it did not take long.

I love asian food, and I've never been impressed with this place. They have a decent buffet, but the food is completely average.

This place is very, very good value - you can feed a family of four for thirty bucks, but I found the grub a bit hit and miss. Deep fried shrimp starter was over-battered, a touch wet, and generally unexciting. The Pho was a lot better (actually rather wonderful) with a rich, deep taste that's as good as you'll find anywhere. I was full after that. Decor is strip-mall... This isn't a "first date" place, by any means

Had dinner at 888 last night. We ordered the Imperial Platter appetizer. The shrimp, egg rolls and beef were tasty. The rest on the platter were just ok. Also had the stir fry Thai Special. It was very good, as was the fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp. The service is top notch. Overall great place.

There was no problem with the food here. I ordered Goi Cuon (spring rolls), and Bun Thit Nuong (grilled pork and vermicelli). I eat these dishes all the time in various restaurants. This restaurant grills the pork to a crunchy perfection. I would eat here anytime. The service was punctual and rushed. There wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant, but there appeared to be two waitresses who were literally running. It all kind of got plopped down on the table expeditiously and they ran off. They came back frequently flying by to see if I needed anything. I didn't. My only two complaints were my table right by the entrance to the bathroom. I could easily have requested another table (I didn't), and the parking. The lot is incredibly small and congested. I could not figure out what business had all the cars (2:30 pm weekday). Anyway, it was tough to get in and out of and hard to get the right driveway when pulling into the restaurant..

I'm so glad I stopped. They were having AC problems (a freak thing apparently) and it was well over a 100 degrees that day, but the food was so great I didnt notice the heat and that says a lot. I'll be back every time I come to Austin!

I had the P10 Pho w/ seafood. It was delicious and helped me with my hang over. Service was great and so was the Vietnamese coffee.

This has been my favorite restaurant for the past ten years. Sure it has had its moments were the food hasn't been as great but I think that was due to the change in chefs. Now it's back it is back to greatness. The pho is excellent. Just about evrything here is yummy. The BBQ pork vermicelli, the yellow curry, the combination fried rice are my top favorites.

My wife and I went to Austin to visit our son who now lives there. He hadn't eaten here but had heard good things so we decided to try it out. He's vegitarian but we are not. He reported that his meal was excellent and that he would be going back. My meal ( Clay Pot, chicken and sausage) was outstanding! The 3 of us ate and had a beer and the total for the 3 was under $50. Great price for a great meal.

We found this restaurant back at the start of the school year when we moved daughter into her new apartment. Hearty servings and good prices. There seems to be quite the extensive menu, but to tell the truth, I am hung up on Pho and Bun dishes so I haven't tried anything else!

Was at the restaurant for dinner. Had to wait for 15 minutes but the wait was worthwhile. The whole time smelled so good with the herbs and spices, couldn't wait. The food was delicious and yummy - no wonder the restaurant has the crowd it expects. Strongly suggest the restaurant.

We have visited this restaurant in Sep 2013, and based upon our previous experience, we visited this again Mar 2014. The food is good and quite sumuptous too! Last time we went, it was a saturday evening, there was a bit of rush. We had to wait for at least 45 mins before we got our order. Overall it is a nice experience, but the wait time could be disappointing

Seems to have all the standard Vietnamese dishes, but it also has other Asian fare. I had the green curry and it was a bigger portion and tastier than other Thai places I've been in town. There's a patio out front and a lunch buffet. Prices are very reasonable. Like many hidden gems, it's tucked away in a strip mall (on Oltorf near the interstate). Yum!

I don't know how I've lived in Austin for so long and somehow just now got around to eating at 888. I think it's because of it's unassuming location...in a strip mall, on East Oltorf. I had the tofu spring rolls, which were quite large, fresh, and very good. I honestly don't remember what the dish I had for an entree was called, but I usually get something similar to Buddha's Delight.Too often at other restaurants it's a forgettable mix of bland carrots, broccoli, and water chestnuts in an even more bland brown sauce, and no tofu, (or bland tofu that's not cooked properly). 888's version had great tofu, and the absolute BEST mix of fresh vegetables I've ever eaten in Asian cuisine, with a flavorful brown sauce. The date I was with eats meat and was equally satisfied with his crab Rangoons and carnivorous entree (I was too busy being in foodie heaven to notice the names of our dishes!). The only thing that leaves something to be desired is the ambiance and atmosphere. I went around the Holidays, and there were tacky Christmas decorations with a fake tree, and REALLY bad modern pop and Spanish versions of Christmas carols playing a little too loudly. Our server was also forgettable. However, the quality and price of the food ABSOLUTELY makes 888 worth a trip! I can't wait to go back!!!

We went here for Pho soup. It was a generous serving but the broth was not very flavorful, which is what makes or breaks pho. This restaurant has a large menu so maybe other dishes are better.

We have to agree with other writers about this restaraunt. How could we have lived in Austin so long and missed this place. With our love for asia food we have had great asia food in many other cities but have been disappointed in what Austin had to offer. It is a welcome surprise to have been directed here by trip advisor. Thanks to all of you for helping us find the place. We will put it on our list of favorites and be going on a regular basis. You can tell a good restaraunt by the flavor of the soup broth and we knew from the first bite we would not be disappointed. YUM YUM!

The food was very good and we were well taken care of by John. He was very attentive and super friendly. Our food was delicious and it was very nice eating location. Definitely come and check out this place!

It was exciting to be able to get Vietnamese food late night, but it was generally terrible- its been a long time since Ive been so disappointed in a meal out. The totally inattentative server forgot half (literally 2 of the 4 items) of our order and when food did make it out it was brought by someone else and had clearly been sitting for a while. Noone checked on us until bringing the bill. My pho had a nice lemongrass flavor, but otherwise was bad. My date didnt like his meal either. They had just gotten over a rush, but wasn't busy when we were seated. I don't know, maybe it was a bad time to try it and should revisit during the day .... pretty disappointing as it was highly recommended, and my birthday.

I went to this place on a chance. I had nears from friends of mine that this place had a bad smell and some nasty things in some of their dishes. Well I guess my friends were wrong, or they may have just ordered something they weren't supposed to. This is my 4th time visiting this place and it was pretty good. Their hours of operation are really convenient. They are open late or I love that. I tried their spring rolls which are really good. I also got the flat rice noodles with roasted duck and I was pretty pleased. They also have great to-go service for take out. I enjoyed it. Their service is a little slow, but other then that, this place is not bad!

we came at noon sunday and they were about 20 people waiting to open ! it was fiull very quickly . I really liked my fried rice tofu .

Seriously the food is amazing. If you like Vietnamese food, you will love this. Alternatively, prove me wrong!

The 888 offers basic Vietnamese food. The prices are reasonable and large portion sizes (enough to bring some home). The service is quick, knowledgeable, and friendly.

My wife and I have been coming in for over 10 years. Will always find the prices to be amazing. We always find the food to be fresh and good and the never gotten sick. Amen to that are the only downside is that it is busier than it use to be 10 years ago, and sometimes you have to wait for a table so we prefer to go on off hours. Service is always good the decor is outdated and I love it. Nice people that run the place

For a big city, Austin does not have a lot of options for late night eating that isn't the 24hr diner fare, which can get pretty boring after a while. Luckily, 888 to the rescue! I brought my family here for the first time and even the pickiest eater found something that he liked. No one was disappointed and the menu is pretty extensive so you are sure to find something that you like. It's not open 24hrs, but it is open late, and expect it to be packed if it is the weekend because most people come here for their meal after a night of studying or wandering 6th St.

I generally don't like Pan Asian Restaurants but 888 has changed my mind. We had a spectacular meal! We started with the Bankok Wings that blended spiciness with sweet clinging veggy-filled sauce. Then came the good Wonton Soup and the great Po Tak soup which filled my mouth with spices worthy of Southeast Asia. The three of us over ordered with the Red Snapper in a rich Tamarind sauce, the Flank Steak in a Green Thai Curry with eggplants that oozed earthiness and the totally surprising veggies in yellow curry. All three of us were transported to a hither-to unknown taste experience and we will add this to our return-soon list.

What a bargain find! This Asian restaurant has many Vietnamese and Chinese options for everyone! It is inexpensive and open late.

Although it's listed as an appetizer, this duck taco could easily be a main entree. Unsure if it's Vietnamese, Chinese, fusion, tex-viet, but it's delicious. The tasty duck was cooked to perfection. The flour tortillas that came with it were a bit on the thick side (I like mine paper thin as they're done in Mexico), but the quality was outstanding. Kudos to 888 for being innovative while maintaining high standards on the taste. Will return as soon as possible to try more dishes.

Always have great service and great inexpensive food. They are open late and have another smaller location off of S Congress.

Ate here twice in one week. Both times crowded which is good sign for any restaurant, once after midnight and then lunch time. Enjoyed the food

This excellent, informal, low-priced restaurant offers an exhaustive selection of both Vietnamese and Thai dishes. Portions are large; service is friendly and casual. Good selection of beer in bottles and on tap. A very pleasant, not too noisy choice.

I was glad everyone agreed on Take Out. The restaurant was packed and the people at the tables had mounds of food to put away. As with other Asian restaurants, we had a variety of meals that we all shared back at the house. Much to my surprise, every dish was tasty. It is unfortunate that I did not remember the names of the meals but if that is any indication of a great menu, ENJOY your choice because it is probably going to be very good.

This is my fourth ( fifth, sixth, I lost count) visit here. There is a huge variety on the menu, and so far it's always outstanding. Be prepared to wait for a table. There had always been a wait when we come here, typically about a half hour. They have love music at night, a few locals who play old country tunes.

this is the best pan asian cusine I ever have. Check it out

We ate at 888 for dinner. The service was extremely fast. My only complaint was the place was loud, crammed and a little too fast. I shared chicken Pad Thai with my son, which was plenty food. My other son had Sesame Chicken. Food was very good and reasonably priced.

Stopped by on the way to San Antonio from Dallas for dinner. We had a large bowl of pho, a small bowl of pho and pork potstickers all for under $20. The potstickers were small, the filling was good and the dipping sauce was good too. The pho was GREAT! The broth was delicious and the beef was plentiful. I would definitely come here again!

888 Vietnamese, S of the River in Austin, has a superb ($9) buffet (11-2:00) with ever changing dishes being added during the buffet. A real bargain and the food is delicious, whether ordering from the regular menu or "doing" the buffet. The Pho is delicious, and the Vietnamese Coffee (with sweetened condensed milk) can be a superb drink or serve as desert (or both). Worth the trip "South"

We are a family of Foodies and "Vietnamese" is generally one of the top favorites on our list of choices. During one of our recent visits to Austin, Texas - we were all in that one zone to gorge on a good Vietnamese meal and when we in unfamiliar territory, we just Yelp it out ... though it did not specifically state Vietnamese, our gut feel and hunger pangs directed us just here We were all eternally grateful to God and Yelp for getting us to this hidden treasure ... Totally Packed and 30 minute wait time gave us more confidence that we were going to have a satisfying meal - yeah it was just as we wanted it! Don't miss the Korean BBQ Pork Ribs or the Fried / Grilled Shrimps or even the Stir Fried Beef ... all is served with steamed rice (free) or fried rice (for an additional charge) I can write more but let me leave the rest to you actually getting there and experiencing it for yourself

My husband and his chef friend came here late one night and loved it, so I asked that we go with the kids after church. We got there right as they opened at noon. By the time we left, the place was packed! My husband and I both had pho, and it was delicious - top notch broth. The kids had some of our pho (the bowls are massive!) and an order of Orange Chicken, which was also really good. We'll be back for more pho and to check out other dishes on their Chinese menu as well.

888's dishes are undeniably good and so affordable. Two can dine for under 20 bucks. The red curry and lemongrass dishes are probably the best I have put in my mouth. Flavor explosions and a nice, not too full feeling after wards. The spring rolls, flavorful, crisp but sometimes greasy, they are just hit and miss. The service has gone from what I would call stellar to sub par at best. The younger staff is never warm or welcoming. Last time we went we had to ask for chopsticks with our to go order and a rubber band to keep it from spilling out of the cheap to go container. I will only recommend because of the food and that they are open super late.

When I first moved to the Austin area from Houston, one of the things I worried about was leaving a great food town that had a great variety of cuisine to choose from. Having a noodle hankering I discovered this restaurant and tried it out. The quality of their food and dishes are excellent. The price is also more than fair. I'm a regular there now and the wait staff knows me and pretty much knows what I'm going to order every time. They also accommodate my kids and the fact that my daughter likes her food very spicy. I feel this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the Austin area.

My wife is a much more experienced palate in Thai food. I really liked what we had. The hot & sour soup isn't the best in town, but it was very good, imo. Service was friendly and quick. They have taken evertything to heart in the Trip Advisor reviews and obviously take time to address these issues. The pork egg rolls were excellent. We ordered pork pad thai, even though it's not on the menu, but they accomodated us with bbq pork. That made the dish a little different. I really liked it, but my wife wasn't totally thrilled. I will definitely go back. We live an hour away, so when I'm in the area, I will visit. My wife doesn't have a reason to be in that area of town, so that's a different story.

The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the fried rice was good. The sweet and sour chicken was disgusting. I was very disappointed in this place. Service wasn't that great either.

They seem to go through some changes every couple of months! but all for the better! the staff is helpful and the FOOD very very YUMMMY! the shrimp hotpot is amazing! as well at the Sizzling Lemon Grass with Shrimp!!

This is an unimpressive looking place in a strip mall in east Austin but surprisingly the food quite good for the price.I have eaten here off and on for over a decade and have never been poisoned here unlike many other ethnic restaurants in Austin. Their weekday buffet is not bad but get there early because as lunch wears on the pickings can grow sparse.

Worst Vietnamese I've ever had in Austin. Too much sauce full of sugar and msg...even though I asked to have it omitted. My dinner wax so sweet I couldn't eat it. I will not be back...ever!

Great service. A diverse menu and we ordered 5 items, all of which were too sweet. Needs to be more authentically asian in taste.

I’m not much into Chinese food. Usually too salty. But this place was excellent. Very fresh. Fast service. I had the Kung Pao chicken with brown rice. Lot of food! Had to get carry out bag it was so much.

Friendly and helpful waitstaff serve tasty, authentic and flavorful Vietnamese and Thai dishes. The curries are just like eating in Thailand and the lemongrass dishes are simply to die for. Affordable and healthful eating!

We'd had enough of barbecue and wanted something inexpensive and flavorful. This pan-Asian restaurant really delivered - the wonderful smells greet you from a block away. Host told us there would be a 25 min wait, but maybe due to their efficiency, we were seated within 10 min. Totally worth even a longer wait! Fried rice, Chinese style flank steak and curried prawns were all absolutely delicious. Came to Austin looking forward to the barbecue, but weirdly, loved this food the most.

Wasn't sure what I wanted for dinner while in Austin for business, decided to take a leap of faith and try out this place. I was not disappointed! The food was amazing! The menu was quite extensive, covering many different Asian favorites and prices were low for the quality. I decided to try their Yellow Curry with flank steak. The curry was the perfect amount of slightly spicy and sweet. The beef was very tender, almost able to cut with a fork. The service was a little slow but very friendly, they were pretty busy. The restaurant is in a strip mall and it is casual. Warning for business travelers *they do not take American Express* but still worth it.

We were attending a conference and wanted a Pho soup for dinner, so we took a cab from downtown and arrived with high expectations. I had Tom Ka soup small cup, this is a thai dish..it was good. But what we really enjoyed was the Pho, fresh ingredients and huge size evene yhr small order. Finally took a cheesecake to go, delicious also. I paid less than 20 dollars for all that and enjoyed a lot. Place had a waiting queue when we left around 7.30 pm.

Right off of east oltorf, 888 serves many options such as pho, noodles, and even basic rice/meat combos. The prices are well adjusted and the portions are plenty. They place is usually pretty packed so you might expect a small wait during dinners.

There is something for everyone here. Most extensive Asian menu I have seen. Great food, huge portions, super friendly and fast service. These guys got it figured out.

first time in austin to see my friends and we went there 3 times thats how much i loved it. its so good. its made fresh not like other places where they warm it up only. the service is good and nice atmosphere. cant wait to go back to austin

Very good pho with quick service and an extensive menu if you like other Asian foods as well. They have a buffet but since I'm not a big fan of the food on it, I haven't had it but it is pretty popular. Second best broth in town, my favorite place is up north, and 888 is very, very good! Enjoy!

888 is our weekly go-to place for dinner. They have a great lunch buffet most of the week, but we usually get dinner to go at least once a week. The food is great and economical and they are always timely with getting it ready.

Been wanting to come here since our church's college kids rave about this place but because its so far south, we never really ventured down here. But this Monday because its en route to the airport we got to pop in for a quick lunch and I was thrilled to finally try it. Confusing it with the old Wan Fu, we stepped in. The place is hopping. We had to wait a bit but people were in and out and we got our seats quickly. First assessment is that its small and not the cleanest but we were hungry and can not wait to try it. We all got the lunch buffet except the teen with us who got pho and it was huge! She liked it but said that Pho Saigon tasted better. But all I saw was lots of noodles, really good deal and huge bowl! I was excited about the lunch buffet. I noticed that it wasn't the standard Americanized type of food at buffets so I was really excited. I loved loved the panang curry. I could have just eaten that with white rice. The only problem is that they kept running out of stuff but that's ok because they did keep coming out. However we were in a rush. Would have liked a hot bowl of steaming white rice with that curry. The crab rangoons were especially good lol but the egg rolls were not fresh. My daughter really liked the noodles-it was good, not the best but not bad. They had mussels! Wings were good-I love buffet wings done right. Everything was pretty tasty and I just wished I had more time to enjoy it all more. The waiters were bustling and people were up and down so it was quite the hectic. They were confused about the price for my little girl who is 5-they told me a price 1st, then changed it when they saw how much she got then changed it back when they realized she ate nothing but noodles lol I thought that was kinda strange. But they seemed nice enough but again very busy but did fill our waters throughout. I would like to come back and eat at the buffet again especially that curry and maybe an evening or lunch for their food. The buffet was ok priced, could have been cheaper than $9 but it was pretty varied and tasty though. Would like for the whole place to be a bit cleaner but what do one expect from a busy Asian restaurant. Food is ok. Will come again to try again :p

Good, standard Vietnamese fare. Priced well with excellent service. Ate at a busy time, but our table was well taken care of.

Three of us split a red curry veggie tofu hot pot and Pho It was delightful to the taste buds and wallet. Excellent food served by friendly well trained wait staff.
Authentic and Priced Right
The food is very authentic and has fabulous flavor, great choice of menu items. The price of meals is extremely reasonable and portions are very fair. The service is friendly and courteous and helpful when asking about menu items.
