After living in NYC for 10 years, you learn that some of the best restaurants are small and simple. They're the ones where you have no expecations before you sit down. I had a vegertarian dish that exploded in my mouth. I walked away feeling happy and appreciated the spice that lingered for quite some time. I would be a frequent customer if I lived in Atlanta. The nan was top notch!

Best Indian Food i have ever eaten! The Service was fenominal for a take out restaurant and rather cheap for the downtown area. Would def. recommend it!

I walked in and felt like I stepped into an Indian/Pakistani restaurant in manhattan. Bollywood on two TVs, a couple of small tables, and window-side bar seating. Service was fantastic - your immediately given a bottle of water, a styrofoam plate and some plastic utensils. The food comes out in Chinese take out containers and was delicious. I had both the lentil soup and a fish curry - all for less than $20 and enough for two.

This is truly an ideal location for GREAT Indian food.....Variety is exceptional and the seasoning is not overwhelming to the digestive system. Customer Service is engaging and kind. Perfect atmosphere for a family gathering for all....including grandparents.

Not great not bad. It's better than most of the Indian places in midtown or downtown, I will give it that.

Niramish, that is what I ordered and it was really good. It has healthy turmeric and vegetables with rice. I ordered two (one for me and my daughter) and we had so much I gave the second one away to someone in downtown who really needed a dish of food. That was the best part! But this place is small, they do have seating out front, the food was quickly prepared, and super nice people here. I would visit again if I get to the downtown Atlanta area again. They have a wide variety of dishes (shrimp, goat, chicken, beef, lamb, soups).

This place is on Lucky street, a minutes away from home and the food is fast and good. A great selection of curries, I really liked the lamb with naan and the samosas last time i was there.

Real authentic indian food served with a lot of courtesy. The cost is reasonable compared to any food places nearby. A must visit

A quick drop in for dinner before the theater next door and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was served hot and fresh, and the server was very attentive, even turning out plastic plates to make sure the fork and knife were facing straight. There is not a lot of seating and they seem to do a brisk takeout business.

We had passed Aamar many times on our way to the theater half a block away. I was blown away by the depth and uniqueness of the menu in this store-front restaurant. The aloo gobi ad the most wonderful sauce, and my husband loved the lamb vindaloo, commenting on the excellent cuts of meat. Great naan, The one drawback is that things are served on styrafoam plates and cups with plastic utensils. The food is so good, and the prices so reasonable, that I think I will bring my own melamine plate and silverware to enjoy more things from this extensive menu. We will definitely make this place a part of our theater plans

Came here with my wife and daughter during our weekend trip to the Aquarium. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was awesome. Great naan, korma, and butter chicken. They even had the Beatles playing throughout our visit. I recommend this to anyone looking for something a little outside the tourist scene.

Spectacular taste very good service authentic cuisine very well located. The best service very good wine. The place is nice

This place was very near my notel during a business trip to Atlanta. The food is excellent. that naan is some of the best I've had and the lamb I ate was delicous! Service is wonderful, the owner and staff were always there and helped me with anything I needed. The only complaint I have is the atmsphere. The inside seating is very small, 6 tables, maybe. There is outdoor seating available, but not much. They also serve all the meals on styrofoam plates and plastic silverware. Drinks are in plastic or glass bottles. So if you're environmentally concious this will make your skin crawl. I think this resturant has all the hard things done-great food, great service, lots of customers...but it would be much more successful if they improved their location and atmosphere.

Some of the best indian food in the cultural wasteland that is Atlanta. Wide selection and all of it is good.

Everything we ate was amazing! Only thing I would change is the use of styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. Just the environmentalist in me. If I lived here I would definitely order frequently from this place!

Tiny dining room so, not great for atmosphere, but this is the closest legit Indian restaurant near the South side of ATL. I've sampled the menu broadly over about half a dozen Uber Eats and take out occasions. All of the traditional fare is as good as you would hope. One of the most surprising stand outs is the Chicken Wings Aamar Style. Don't sleep on those wings! The proprietor is super helpful as well. If you have any questions about the menu, he's always happy to make suggestions or explanations. He also may be willing to blur the lines of their delivery zone if it's a slow night and you're just on the edge. Really glad to have this downtown. Keep up the good work!

It is a horrible place. No one should order any food from this Aamar Indian Cuisine. I ordered a Chicken Curry and a Naan from this Restaurant while I was visiting Atlanta. I found a dead roach in my Chicken Curry. Then I called the restaurant back. A guy answered the call and he can't speak English. Everything I say he says yeah, yeah, yeah, Only English word he knows. I have tried to explain to him that I have a dead roach in my food. He starts speaking Hindi I guess! I asked his name he does not want to give his name. Finally, I got his name so far Shanju or something like that. This guy probably an undocumented. He did not do anything but hung up on me. I called back and he hung up again. I would never recommend anyone to order any food from this Restaurant. It is the horrible place to order food!

This resturant offers very nice indian food and reasonably priced Was very busy when we went The staff was very helpful and friendly. You have a choice of taste Hot or medium taste On arrival the resturant they gives you a bottle of water It is a small resturant but appears they have a large clientel They serve food in throw away plates and cutlery Not a bad idea for this type of food Great selection of food. They will help youbwith your selection If you like indian food certainly try it

We went here for takeout after the Anoushka Shankar concert at the neighboring Rialto Theater last Saturday. And so did everybody else who was there! This is a very small restaurant, so my husband and I quickly agreed on what we would order and he went inside to stand in line at the cash register to order. I stayed outside. I don’t think it was even 40 degrees outside, and there was a light wind, but I toughed it out. I had just flown in the night before from Minneapolis and I decided I could take the cold. There was barely room for my husband and the other people who had ordered inside. Several people walked away after seeing the crush. I was hassled by a panhandler while waiting, but I sent him packing. A couple who had gotten their order to go tried to eat it at one of the patio tables, but after he hassled them, they gave up and left with their bag of food. I think I waited by myself outside for about 20 minutes before we got our food (my husband did come outside to make sure I was ok and I was). We scurried home just to get caught in a traffic jam of other people in the ramp Rialto uses; mostly people I think who stopped to socialize or for takeout. We got Shaag Ponir (their spelling on these titles) ($12), a wonderful vegetarian dish with spinach in a cream sauce and home made cheese. It was delicious and one of my favorites! We also got Chicken Biryani ($13), a basmati rice dish spiced with cinnamon and black cardamom. Also excellent. And, an order of Bullet Naan; naan bread with a lot of garlic and green onions (I forget the price). This is the second time we have gotten fresh Bullet Naan from here and we LOVE IT! Strongly recommend for takeout (they let us sit at the table and gave us bottles of water at a precious visit). You can also find them on Grubhub for delivery in the metro area.

Review only for Veg Biryani.....Definitely this was worst biryani I ever ate from Indian Cuisine...Rice were not long enough which goes in biryani...flavors were as similar to fried rice or pulaav ..but nothing matching to biryani and quantity was very less compared to other Indian Restaurants....

Whilst in Atlanta on a business trip, I really wanted an Indian takeout. This place was close to the hotel and I ordered on line for delivery to my hotel. The food was delivered quickly and was nicely presented. The price was good and the taste was amazing - really hit the spot

I ordered delivery food from Aamar through Grub Hub. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala ($14) and Chicken Korma ($13). Sales tax was $1.95, Delivery Fee $0, and I added a tip. I had a promo code that was good for $6.75 off the total. I received a delivery time estimate. I got my order before the allotted time and the delivery person was nice. Everything was packaged well so nothing spilled. Both the Masala and the Korma were really good. Both I and my husband really liked the food. There were large chunks of white meat chicken in both. Will definitely order from them again or go to the restaurant!

I am currently in grad school so a lot of nights I don't feel like cooking and Aamar is a great alternative. We ordered the lamb rice, curried goat, samosas, and chicken curry and everything was delicious. The portions are generous and the delivery was fairly quick. If more than two of you are ordering get a double order of the naan which was the first thing we ran out of and be sure to enjoy the chutneys they provide, they really enhance the flavors.

Ate here whilst on a business trip. Food was excellent and very friendly staff. Highly recommended!!

Foods really good. Even though you can sit down, it functions more like a fast food restaurant as well as the menu. Quick, fast, hot, and tasty.

This is totally a hole in the wall, small, basic Indian restaurant. But as expected, great food and friendly service. I had the chicken tikka masala and naan. Both were delicious! Prices are high though considering the place and environment.

The area is vibrant and the restaurant is modern with helpful caring staff. The food was so good we went back several days later. Not expensive and bartender made us some specialty drinks.

No frills and little seating but the food is worth it! Great for those visiting and staying near by.

My sister described this place as a take out restaurant where you can eat in. The meal was served on styrofoam plates and paper napkins. There are a few tables inside a few on the side walk and several more in the attached parking garage - Not kidding. The atmosphere is about that of a bad service station restroom. That being said, do not miss this jewel. The prices are right and the food is AMAZING!!! The staff are friendly. and the food is AMAZING!!! We had the Tamarind chicken and a goat dish. Both were worth ordering. For a side we ordered the bullet naan. This is not for the faint of mouth. The chilis have a bite. We loved it.

We visited for dinner on New Year’s Eve. The place is tiny, and packed. The outdoor tables filled up even with the bad weather. We loved the Naan, and the vegetable Somosas. The mint sauce served with them was incredible! We also loved the eggplant dish we ordered. The chickpeas were so tender, they melted in your mouth! Highly recommend.

We found this across the street from our hotel and, as we are fans of Indian food, and tired from the day's drive, we stopped in. We had saag paneer, goat bhoona (goat!!!!), pakoras, and Peshawari naan. All the flavors were on target, and the bill was respectively modest. The students at Georgia State--who are around a lot more than we are--seem to enjoy it a lot, and I don't think it's just because of the 20% student discount. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We watched our server assist an adult couple with no Indian food experience make some choices before the students they were meeting arrived, and what advice I overheard seemed ideal for first-timers. Yes, the goat dish had bones in it. If there hadn't been bones, I would have been worried, because goat has bones!

This a very small restaurant with paper plates, plastic forks and scrumptious food. The service was excellent and we were able to sit at the tables on the sidewalk. The curry shrimp and naan were excellent. Lot of vegetarian options that our friends were very happy with.

The employees were very kind and helpful, they gave out bottled water with it being so hot that was very refreshing and much needed! Great filling food and very tasty!

Located in downtown Atlanta, this very small restaurant reminds me of many of the places I've been to in India. There is limited seating indoors and out, they do a huge to go and delivery business, and the staff could not be nicer. My Butter Chicken to go came with rice, naan, and a bottle of water. They will ask what spice level you want out of 10. I said 6, which was moderate, and not that spicy... so next time I'll go for a 10! If you are downtown, maybe in one of the hotels, and like Indian cuisine, this place is for you. Open 4-11 daily; closed Tuesday.

Great service and food. Sat outside and watched the Saturday night entertainment walk and drive by. Party of 4 Ordered an assortment of items. I got the Goat! Will return

Recommend this place. It is a small restaurant, not fancy but you can have a very tasty food served by kind personnel at modic price. We had Bullet Naan, Mixed Tondoori Platter and Lamb Vindaloo.

This is the closest I have got to eating authentic Indian food in America. Having lived in London for years where Indian food is the national cuisine, and also travelling in India multiple times, the food at Aamar can stand up to the best. We had chicken tikka for the children - juicy, mild but very flavoursome, lamb bhoona where you could taste the vegetables had been cooked fresh as they still had a satisfying crunch, and Chicken Shaag (spicy version) which was rich and smooth with a well balanced kick, with a side of Tarka Daal (smooth with a great roasted garlic flavor). The restaurant is small, and typical of places you could eat in India with no fancy furniture, sitting close together inside with Bollywood movies highlights playing on the TV (kids were fascinated), or tables outside. There were a lot of people collecting take-away, but I heard that the home delivery was not happening because of the level of business. One thing to note - they do not serve alcohol of any type, but the mango lassi is as good as you could get in India!

My favorite indian spot in ATL thus far. The veg options are all truly Aaaamazing! I love their samosas . its potatoes n veggie cooked perfectly in light yellow curry . it comes with a unique curry dipping sauce. yummyyy

Good food, a bit on the expensive side for take-out. Pleasant staff, excellent location, open late too.

Clean space for Indian food and Bollywood songs. Food wasn't terrific, but I only tried the soup and pakoras. Pakoras were better.

Love me some Indian food, especially when traveling. Small joint, lots of takeout during my brief dinner. Ordered the standard fare - samosas, naan, chix tikka masala - mild to medium spice and some raita. Food was priced well for amount received. It's just that everything was so sweet. The naan was sweet (and very greasy), the tikka sauce was sweet, and the raita was too sweet to eat. I've not ever experienced this before in all my time eating Indian. As well, I did not like that I the hot tikka masala came in styrafoam. It seemed I could taste chemicals as well. Food - not so good. Service - Fantastic. Price - good. Since it's about the food, I gave it 2 stars.

We were very pleased to find this small restaurant. Had dinner here both nights. Simple setting, paper plates, plastic forks, but delicious food and super friendly service. Will definitely come again.

My husband and I picked up an order to go here right after attending the Ailey II dance show at the Rialto last night. We were able to place our order and pay for it using the Yelp app (I think it was Yelp) during the second intermission. When we walked out after the show, around the corner, and into the restaurant, it was just being put into the bag. Perfect! We ordered Vegetable Pakora (appetizer), Chicken Masala, and Chicken Korma. Of course the entrees came with basmati rice. We re-heated the Pakora hoping to dry out some of the oil. They were very oily but did have good flavor. There were two types of sauce, a green and a red. Both of the sauces were good. The Korma and Masala were good and had a few chunks of white meat chicken, but really had no spice at all. Very bland. The rice was good and as expected. My husband thought overall the review should be a 3, I thought a 3 1/2 so I gave a 4.

On a recent trip to Atlanta we took in a play. While walking to the theatre, we smelled a divine aroma coming out of the Indian restaurant next door. After the play we ducked inside Aamar to find a small "hole in the wall" restaurant serving the best food! I had the Chicken Curry and my husband had the Chicken Tikka Masala (they spice it up or down so I ordered mine spicy). We also ordered the Naan. Everything was served in "take-out" containers so when you can't finish what you ordered (neither of us could) you can take it with you. My dish was, hands down, the best Chicken Curry I have ever eaten and my husband said it was the best Tikka Masala he had eaten in years. It's not fancy but the service and food are fantastic. Their sign says "free delivery" so, people of Atlanta, if you like Indian food, eat up! I wonder if they deliver to Nashville?

My wife and I were attending a convention in Atlanta and found this restaurant while walking from our hotel and the convention center. It seems to be primarily a take-out place, but five small tables are available for eating on site. The food was excellent and the place was obviously busy filling orders to go. Our waiter was helpful and courteous and food came promptly. This is not a fancy place to dine, but a great place to eat well-prepared Indian food.

I had eaten food here for 2 days as this was close to my hotel, food is not really that tasty and good. But is average

We had a fantastic meal at Aamar. It is a small dining area because it's clear they do a lot of take out and delivery, but I really liked the dine-in experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious--I recommend the eggplant and chickpea dish, and get it good and spicy. Add some naan. There will be PLENTY of jasmine rice to go around. Everyone was given bottled water, and when we finished the first bottles, they were replenished. Visit Aamar for an authentic Indian cuisine experience.

Greeted with a complimentary bottle of water when we entered. Reasonable prices. The food was great. Authentic indian curry. I will return.

Came here with a party of 11 late at night and the staff was very accommodating to us all. The service was great and the food was amazing as well. The garlic naan is a must have!

Small place. Ate outside on the sidewalk on styrofoam plates. Drink specials were really good. Food was very good as well. On the spicy side.

Came across this restaurant when walking to the Metro station. Clean and inviting space. No frills. Very limited seating. Attentive and prompt service. One guy picked up on my Jamaican accent and spoke at length about Jamaica 😊 Appetizers were served quickly. Vegetable samosas were tasty 😋 The wings were a bit too crispy for my liking, but the sauce on the side made it manageable. The shrimp bhoona was filled with spices and veggies and was pleasing to the palate! Highly recommend a visit to this spot! Prices were reasonable.

Mixed feelings here. The food was really good, the goat dish we had as well as the tandoori but really felt odd with everything served in takeout boxes and styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. But the bottom line of course is the quality of the food! Service was excellent and very attentive. Orders were large and we couldn't finish everything. They ask you when you order if you want it mild, medium or hot which was good (we went medium and it was just right). Place was packed shortly after we arrived, only six tables inside but about 8 outside on the sidewalk, I think this indicates that people come for the food not the atmosphere.... which is what this place is. Good street food!

Tiny place, nothing fancy but very quality Indian food. The lamb was super tender and juicy. The food also came out very quickly…

Everything is good and best, all the staff are very helpful, food , test and service is so nice. will come again. Thanks for Best Chicken Biryani, Thank you all for best dinner

Great Indian food. The service was awesome too! Highly recommend!!!!!! I ordered a spice level of 3 and it was perfect!

We had a positive experience at this restaurant, but there were some down sides too. The food was delicious and the portions were exactly what you would expect. The staff were friendly and responsive. One thing to keep in mind is that while they do have table service, they're set up almost like a take-away. Everything was served in take-away containers with styrofoam plates and bottled water. They were busy so I'll forgive a little, but they missed one of our orders and doubled our naan which we didn't end up eating anyway, but paid for because it was on the bill. I would go back, but probably just order for pick up and not stay there to eat.

Very large menu of Indian specialities. They will increase or decrease the spiciness upon request. The food was authentic and tasty and perfect for an in hotel room meal!

Good old google maps gave me the nearest restaurants to my hotel and being in the mood for some spicy checked this place out. A bit rough around the edges but the food hits the spot- be warned has some kick

We were on vacation and my husband was craving Indian so we decided to get take out. We ordered the samosas and butter chicken. The food was great and the staff was awesome as well. They even threw in a few free bottles of water. My husband definitely approves of this place as he is Indian as well.

Great food on a central location downtown. Small inside dining but excellent to go service. Will be back.

I am usually not a fan of Indian food but this was very good. I had the coconut chicken and it was great. My first Samosa and it was great.

As first time visitors to Atlanta from the western US, we have been searching for that legendary southern hospitality that you always hear about. After five days in Atlanta, we didn’t find any real difference between your typical Atlantan and their western cousins. That was until we visited this small, family owned Indian restaurant called Aamar Indian Cuisine. Their food and service is the epitome of southern hospitality; they were kind, helpful, accommodating, gracious, and most importantly good cooks. They accommodated our group of 15 with outside seating without a single misstep. Thank you Aamar Indian Cuisine for the outstanding Indian food and service.

It is a small family restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine. It is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, and its food is delicious!! They also have very good service.

I visit Atlanta several times a year and stay in the neighborhood of Aamar. I have tried several dishes and all are excellent. The lamb Vindaloo is amazing. It can be very spicy but they will adjust the seasoning for your taste. I always get takeout because my hotel is across the street and they always give you plates forks and napkins with your takeout and always put a bottle of water at no charge in the bag. The people I have met there are always so friendly. I forgot to order the Raita and when I went to taste my spicy lamb I realized OH! I need the yogurt sauce so I called to let them know and he would not let me pay for it. Very lovely people.Try it, I think you will be pleased!

Definitely a four star for the quality of food but plastic cutlery and styrofoam plates doesn’t do it for me. Small place with only 6 small tables in front of the house and terrible audio on the two TVs. I think there is additional seating at back of house - don’t know. They are doing a roaring trade in takeout - and the food really is very good with attentive staff checking in every few minutes.

Did I say FUN? Yes it was fun :):) We're there this past Sunday the November 24th. This place is hiding gem.. First of all as soon as we sat on the table .. The waiter brought us bottles of water. then the meals were comes in container with paper plate which we didn't care whether it was a fancy dishes or paper box. ( Like Chinese take out) what's matter is the tastes! It was yummy and quite lots. We ate them all. I think runs by family members then toilet is outside LOL It was okay as long as there is a bathroom. Bit over priced I think.. Maybe few dollars! There are quite lots of people stopped by to pick up their take out order. I think it is actually quite popular for the people who lives near by. Service was great! I said everything's good!

I am not a particular fan of Indian food, but it was my son's birthday and he wanted to have the family eat at this Indian restaurant. And so we went. Everyone raved about the food and I smiled. Based on my family's views and the fact that restaurant was packed I would have to rate the restaurant very highly. Apparently, it was tough getting a reservation during the peak hours so be forewarned.

This is a small, very friendly, and authentic southasian restaurant. I called here twice and ate in plus had takeaway on both visits. Saag paneer was excellent, as was the bread, rice was average. The rice pudding dessert is recommended as is the lassi.

We saw reviews that the place was tiny, so we tested out their online ordering and delivery. It arrived fast and was exactly what we had ordered. Portions are on the smaller side, so order enough to share. Everything was delicious!

I ate here with two work colleagues, one of whom I discovered loves hot food more than I do. When we ordered, he ordered his hot and stressed this to the server, so she asked him if he wanted it “regular hot or Indian hot”... he chose the latter and I chose the former. Mine was plenty hot and he seemed to have no problem with his even hotter plate. Our other colleague got his medium. You can get whatever you want, but I recommend regular hot!

It may look different but it tastes amazing. Most of the dishes are soup like that you serve over white rice. I like the Chicken Korman

Hole in the wall, diamond in the rough. Owner was extremely kind. Everyone was helpful and gave great suggestions. Food was delicious, flavorful.

I ran into this restaurant with no expectations Ordered shrimp saag and naan It came with good quantity of rice Enjoyed every last bite with Beatles music playing in the background. You have to come here if you come to Atlanta

Stopped by this quaint little Indian food restaurant to get some food to go as it was just around the corner from that hotel where I was staying. Very delicious Shrimp Saag Paneer and naan that was more than I would eat. Took less than 10 minutes to prepare and provided plates and utensils in the to-go bag. Have a few tables for eating in. Open for dinner only with reasonable prices.

Plenty of flavor, good service, good food! It's more geared for take out, but they have some tables!

This is a very small restaurant, but was recommended by the conference we attended for vegetarian food. We waited about 10 minutes to get a table outside (everything inside was full). The food was ok. My husband finished eating before I did and the owner asked him to go inside the restaurant and pay the bill. My husband did so, I stayed at the table as I was still eating my last peice of naan. They picked up my (styrofoam) plate and (plastic) flatware and told me to leave as there were other people waiting for a table (literally there was one couple who had just walked up). I left and I would never go back. The food wasn't good enough to make up for the rudeness.
SO delicious!
Nothing more needs to be said. It is very good food. Just be sure to check the hours if you are making a special trip.
