Very cute spot on little italy. We had eaten here and found some spicy pizzas we loved. Eat outside in the back patio. Love this place!

After a day sight-seeing in San Francisco, And 3 weeks into a road trip around the wilder parts of the USA, we wanted a decent meal and we got a very good one here. Not v expensive but certainly not cheap. But authentic Italian-US experience. I had pizza - what else?! And very good it was too. With red wine to wash it down all was good! Baseball on TV, lots of families and interesting people talking in the loud way that Amercans do, good food and wine and an easy public transport link back to our lodging.

Stopped in at the bar recently w/friends & enjoyed the Antipasto Toscano with generous pours (and tastes) of wines. Fabulous, friendly bartender who made the whole experience. Bustling crowd for a Sat night. Dinners looked excellent. Authentic Italian flair and ambiance. Highly recommend, we'll definitely be back to try a meal & chat up our favorite bartender again.

We stopped in Acquolina for lunch on our way to Lombard Street. Other restaurants seemed crowded but Acquolina had inside and outside tables available. We shared the Margherita pizza which had a very thin crust and was very enjoyable. The service was pleasant and attentive

We arrived in San Francisco to visit our daughter and we were ravenous! So, our daughter suggested going to Acquolina's for some authentic Italian food. Not only was the food authentic, but the wait staff was also Italian! We ordered the bruschetta appetizer (fresh and delicious, but wanted more than the 4 pieces in the order), a bottle of Chanti (of course, yum) and a margarita pizza to share. The pizza crust was delicious - thin, yet tasty. The sauce...delicious. And of course, LOVE the mozzarella cheese. The restaurant is on a corner of a busy street, so as we sat in our corner table eating and drinking great Italian food, we watched the rest of the world go by through the large windows, which seemed to encapsulate the entire restaurant. Definitely a great place!

We were walking through Little Italy and happened upon this place. Great service, friendly staff, and the pizza was really good. Out door seating contributed to the ambience of little Italy. I recommend it. The pizza Memara was scrumptious

Just ordered simple things: Pizza, Lasagna and Cesar salad. None of it was worth it. And the wines are really expensive and low quality. The service is normal. You have a little terrace for outdoor sittings. The italian style decoration is nice. For me, regarding quality of the food, it's a little bit below the average italian restaurant, that usually have very tasty food.

Service was very bad and the hygiene of things was bad-bugs, and when they replaced it had bug again

I had the pasta all'amatriciana, which was great, really flavorful and pasta cooked perfectly. My friend got the mozzarella and tomato panino and it came on French bread, wasn't great. Service was good however, and the food is well priced.

We ate here the first night of our trip and I’m so glad we did. We had some appetizers that were all so good and my lasagna was amazing! My daughter wanted the cheese wheel show (don’t remember the name) but it was so fun to watch and food was great as well. Our servers were so attentive! We had a party of 7 so it couldn’t have been easy. Best ending was the Tiramisu, oh it was so yummy!

When it comes to find good restaurants San Francisco has been a disapointment. But on our last evening we finally found a restaurant with quality food and not just quantity food. Grazie. Service was very good. Atmosphere nice and relaxed. Even if Its ‘Little Italy’ everything gets faster than in Italy. And Its ok. Guess the guests wants that effiency. Thank you for a nice dinner.

Casual and delicious, perfect together but then there is the food, fabulous! We had 2 appetizers (burrata and ???) dinner was lasagna, manicotti and eggplant, all very very good. Portions were on the small side. Service was good but not great BUT we were there on Christmas Eve and it was difficult to keep up with the crowd however we were never rushed. Beer and wine.

Amazing Customer Service, Upon arrival here for the very first time You are welcomed by the hostess that says hello how are you doing this evening. After being seated outside the server was right out to take your order. Ordered a pizza and a recommended pasta dish. During dinner waiter checked at least 4 times to see if I needed anything. Food was quick to table hot well plated and Great flavors. Defiantly coming back again Great Job

We intended to have dinner at a popular restaurant in the neighborhood, but it had a 2 hour waiting list. So what do we do? Look around, and find this quieter place across the street. We got a table almost immediately and sampled several dishes, a Capresse salad, pizza and Tiramisu to end. All excellent and very tasty.

Found this restaurant after a long day of walking. Friendly staff and nice food. We were starving so felt portions could have been bigger but nothing wrong with the flavours

We grabbed a light ending to our long day of touring with an excellent margarita pizza that really hit the high notes. The whole North Beach scene was a little much and the longer waits on the later side on a Sunday were discouraging. However, we were able to quickly sit at an outdoor table that was very comfortable with heat lamp on. Our meal was superb!

It was a very busy Sunday night, and we were cold, tired, hungry and jet lagged having just arrived in San Francisco after a transatlantic flight, so in fairness, this review may be a little harsh on Acquolina. It is a small restaurant and the only table we could get was outside, and we had to wait a while for it. The pizzas and calzone were very good; unfortunately we didn't stay for dessert as it was so uncomfortable where we were seated - a dirty outside table on the sidewalk pushed up against a plastic awning flapping against my head in the breeze, on a slope, with hard uncomfortable chairs and it was really cold and drafty. What made the experience worse was being doused in vapour constantly from the couple on the next table puffing on their e-cigs constantly. The waiter was very friendly though, and I'm sure that if we could have sat inside the experience would have been much nicer, and we'd have eaten and drunk more.

Popped out for a pizza , the place we wanted to go had waiting for 3 hours so luckily or unluckily we got in acquolina . The focaccia was tasty , the ham and mushroom pizza was a touch undercooked , the lasagna was lovely which was the meals only saving grace . The house merlot is awful don’t order it . So the moral of the story is get your name down on the list at Tony’s across the road early !!

Great service and the food was incredible. Recommend Pizza, lasagne and salads. Atmosphere was good and the rest rooms clean.

We ordered a pizza & wild boar with papparadella pasta. Quite pricey as we were charged for using a credit card (which we hadn't encountered elsewhere and no mention was made on the menu or outside on the window). The service was great and the ambience was lovely with sports memorabilia and a big tv on the wall with sports info running. It was on a corner of Stockton Street by the Marzipan Church so looked out on to the green. Good location.

ACQUOLINA did indeed welcome us in such a warm way! By their entrance the words: LOVE, LIFE, FOOD, WINE, PASSION and PEOPLE are written as if the establishment promise you an experience that resemblance those words of enjoyment. We went originally to eat authentic Italian pizza for lunch, and being from Europe we are quite particular about our Italian restaurants. After lunch, that over exceeded our hopes of Italian authentic pizza on the US continent, our naturally kind waiter offered delicate surprises throughout the evening. Fruit, chees and strawberries went perfect with our after dinner Prosecco. We where treated ROYALY! The live Jazz musicians made the place comfortably lively during the last hours of the night. What started out as a pizza lunch - became an awesome evening! Had a blast! Thank you to Dario Tobia and his family and friends at ACQUOLINA! We have found our new regular "hang out" place, when having time off in San Francisco.

On a recent visit to SF, my wife and I arrived at a well known restaurant at 8PM on a Sunday night to find a 2 hour wait to be seated. Not wanting to wait, we ventured across the street to Acquolina's and enjoyed a truly memorable dinning experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and our service that night was top notch. The food was outstanding, especially the home made lasagna. This restaurant may not make everyone's top 10, but it is a hidden gem that is much better then better known tourist traps. Do not miss it.

Great original Italian pizzas. Espresso from a "real" machine. Special mentionable is the Tiramsu ;) Would come here again on the next opportunity!

We usually go to Tony's Pizza in San Francisco, but this time someone recommended we try Acquolina. My friend and his girlfriend were visiting from Los Angeles, and we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take them and give Acquolina a shot. We drove from Lodi, CA, more than 90 miles away, taking an hour and a half to reach the restaurant. We ordered couple of appetizers, a couple of pizzas, and my daughter ordered a pasta for herself. First of all, all the food came at once - appetizers and main course. We were initially just having appetizers with drinks and then moved on to the main course. When my 10-year-old daughter tried her pasta, after a couple of bites, she said something didn't seem right. The pasta was way undercooked. She complained to us, and at that point, we put the pasta on our plates to try. She was right; it was undercooked. We called our server to inform him that the pasta was undercooked. Without missing a beat, he said, "Now you guys are done with most of it," with no apology, nothing. He made us feel horrible and speechless, as if we were complaining to get free pasta. For reference, see the pictures of the pasta and decide if we were done with the portions. We were so shocked and stressed by the server's rude and dismissive attitude that we just wrapped up the dinner, took our pizzas to go, paid our bill, and left. That server's actions made us feel belittled and disrespected. We and our visiting friends were in shock and did not have a good experience at all. Even the pizzas weren't that good. I am sorry, but we won't be returning to Acquolina.

We refused to stand in line for a popular pizza place across the street. Such a great decision. You can just tell that this food is made by people who love to cook for people. We ordered a pizza maiala, pizza giorna & sera, and a delicious lemon cauliflower appetizer. Devoured a shared tiramisu at the end. We ate outside across from Washington Square and had a simply divine lunch. Service was thoughtful and friendly. It does take a while to pull off all this excellence, so sit back and enjoy the experience and the company you are with. PS we saw the gnocchi served to a neighboring table and my mouth has been watering for it ever since!

Bright, airy, and across from the park this newer Italian restaurant doesn't seem to get the traffic that the other neighborhood standards do. Could be because the menu has far less to offer in terms of entrees and options. I was the lone lunch diner for a while until a few other couples showed up.The eggplant parmigiana with gnocchi as a side was decent, but wasn't a standard menu item. I had to negotiate its creation with the server. I originally wanted the eggplant with spaghetti which they couldn't, or wouldn't provide. And I also had to request a bread basket which, once in hand, consisted of just four thin slices. i used the olive oil at the table to moisten them. Prices seem standard and I didn't notice any specials. The staff speak Italian. On future trips to San Francisco, I probably won't return to this spot. There are plenty of other more enticing options in North Beach to try.

We stopped in for a quick bite with a party of five. We were not after anything fancy. Just some good Italian. We were disappointed. The room is small. The decoration is nice enough. It's not a place for a nicer meal or date. Its family style the whole way. The service was professional enough...to be fair. Just very curt. It did not seem that anyone in the place enjoyed their work. And as for the food, the pizza was thin crust, salty and greasy. It tasted OK. But no one was thrilled with it. It felt like perhaps the whole operation from cooks to wait staff were just having an off day. There are too many good places in North Beach for us, or you, to consider Acquolina.

I have to say that this is by far the best pizza I've had! But not only the pizza was amazing... From the moment you cross the door to the bartender, the whole staff and the owner. They make you feel right at home! We were visiting SF and went in for one night. Tonight was our last night in town and could not think of leaving without going there one last name time. Highly recommended!

We had pizza maremma ($19.59) and some Chianti ($12.50) The pizza was west coast thin crust and pretty yummie. The wine was as expected for the price. The service was friendly and I thought it was a cute place. Nice discovery in the North Beach area.

We dined here during the "Santa Crawl" and wandered into Acquolina because most of North Beach was crowded with Santas, elves, and even reindeer. The house red was nice. We enjoyed the bruschetta pomadora and the ravioli in the basil cream sauce. The Margherita pizza was just okay. The staff was attentive and helpful.

Hi all! My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to dinner after visiting Alcatraz and we wanted some pizzas. We found a place full of people and we thought: "if there are so many people means this is the perfect place". Well, actually it was. Pizzas were delicious. We've been in Italy plenty of times and this was by far the best pizza we've ever eaten.

Excellent food and services! Good stories from the Uruguayan friend! Also beer was very good and Music !

Came across this place after a visit to the Coit Tower. The restaurant is light and airy, with friendly service. I had the salmon and avocado Ciabatta. It was to die for......and reasonably priced for SF. All washed down with a glass of Prosecco! Reasonably priced and food is good! Noticed people also came here just for a glass of wine. Had a good laid back vibe! Worth a visit if you are in the area.

I have a food allergy. When I asked the waiter if I would have a problem, he took the time to ask the cook. I had no allergic reaction. Our dining experience was wonderful. This is an authentic Italian restaurant. The staff communicated back and forth in Italian. Their wine selection was great. We have the pizza Dolomini. I highly recommend it. San Francisco is an expensive city. Compared to other restaurants we have eaten at this place is very inexpensive. For the quality of food and service we received I would have expected to pay more.

We wandered onto little Italy and the smell of pizza left us craving some! A lot of places has crazy wait times but the waiter here was very accommodating and sorted us out with a table with no hassle. Meatballs and pizza were great and tasty wine was available at very reasonable prices. Staff were very attentive and fun, will definitely return if we get the chance.

Accidentally ended up here. Sooo lucky. Arrived mid afternoon. Not too busy. Had lunch gnocchi- Mind blowing. Best I e ever had. Worth going just for gnocchi Simple tomato sauce. Very good. BUT the gnocchi somehow, popped in your mouth. Literally had texture. It didn’t just mush in your mouth. Crazy good. Crazy. Husband had pizza. Very good. Go here,

WHY did I bother making a 12/25/5:30 p.m. reservation at this place months in advance? WHY did I bother answering their text on the 24th to confirm I’d be there at 5:30? I don’t know! Because when we showed up early, the bored-looking hostess told us without apology that they “overbooked,“ and there’d be a “long wait.” (She didn’t even ask my name, I had to make her take it down.) So we parked ourselves at 5:05 at the cramped bar and listened to staff argue with each other and slam things around. At 5:30 we asked again, same answer, “long wait.” So we decided to make the best of it, if you can call it that, and take a table outside in the cold. (Staff, don’t tell me your heaters were enough; my hands and feet were frozen and after our dinner finally arrived it got cold quick, too.) While we sat outside forever waiting for service we watched group after group show up, get a head shake from hostess, and then stand and confer confusedly. Maybe they didn’t have reservations but I’ll bet money they did. Food: adequate. My son liked his tagliatelle, I had wild boar pasta, with overcooked pasta that, as I mentioned, congealed pretty quickly in the cold outdoors. An embarrassing Christmas dinner that this restaurant ought to be ashamed of.

I was showing UK friends around SF and they chose another place nearby. Where we wanted to go was a line so long that they would be closed before we got seated. We went here. It was nice pizza! Nice environment. I think everyone wants to go to the other joint and completely overlooks this. Never go for the tourist spot. The place next door is probably just as good. Win for us!

We got there at 5 on Saturday to half empty restaurant, ordered 3 meals . It filled up fast inside but still empty tables outside. It took hour and 10 min for pasta alfredo, spaghetti puttanesca and a pizza. A pizza they refused to hold the sausage . Too slow, food was good but not great. Should have realized why others places were busy when we walked into this place.

This place is incredible. The service is great very kind and the relaxed environment and diverse clientele makes it perfect for everyone. Pizza amazing pasta all types perfectly cooked and the tiramisu is beyond describable, we came back more than once during our stay and it was even better the second time. Surrounding by some fashionable places but the food and prices beats them both. Great experience for us.

It was a busy Friday night but they found room for the four of us outside. The service was quick and efficient. The food was very good. We had two different pizzas to share and beer to drink. Everything was very tasty. This part of town is very trendy and the restaurant blended in well. Our only complaint was an angry street person to was carrying on a loud complaint session with a phantom on his phone.

We were going to eat across the street, but the wait was over an hour so we walked over to Acquolina. It almost felt like we were in Italy! The servers spoke to each other in Italian and our pizza was delicious. I'm so glad the other restaurant was busy.

We stopped by at Acquolina a couple of weeks ago whilst visiting San Francisco. The restaurant looked really lovely from the outside and as we love Italian food we decided to give it try. The staff were really friendly, but service was a little slow considering there were not many people people dining there. We ordered two margarita pizzas as well as some drinks and side dishes. Unfortunately when the pizzas where brought out they were very black underneath (I would of course expect this a little bit with them been stone baked however, this was more like charred). When I cut into my pizza, there was a very minimal amount of tomato sauce towards the crust of the pizza and when I say minimal I really do mean it, my partners was more or less the same. Had we ordered a pizza Bianco that would have been no problem, but we ordered margarita pizza's. Both Pizza's were so salty that we could still taste it the next day. Perhaps we went on a bad day, but unfortunately I would not return there again due to our food being not very edible

Outstanding venue and atmosphere. Food was sensational. As someone who travels to Italy, especially Florence very regularly, I would honestly say this is the best Italian I have had outside of Italy, including some very good Italian restaurants in London where I live. My meat lasagne was superb, tasty and full of substance (sorry but I find the US interpretation of lasagne to be way too bland). Wife’s papadelle great but daughters ravioli looked incredible, and I’m told tasted even better. Great friendly staff. Relaxed. Loved it!

Outstanding fresh Italian Food! They should teach the Americans how to cook! Friendly staff and authentic interior. Just go there and you'll agree!

My husband and I wanted a light dinner and had no idea where To go. We happened upon Aquolina after we were turned away at Tony's pizza across the street. We had a nice dinner, great service in a relaxing place. The Zuppa di mare was great to start and we shared a pizza. Big portions ! Highly recommend !

We ate there twice. The first time, we got a very good pasta nero. The second time, we had pizzas, which were not on par with the pasta, but still very decent.

Maybe as a NYer I should never get pizza anywhere else. We got a Margherita pie and we were totally unimpressed. Service was very friendly and quick, but it didn't make up for the food.

Wondering through the neighborhood last evening, we were hungry and came here based on the full house and Trip advisor reviews. Very pricey but good food, average size salad and personal pizza. Paid $13.50 for a glass of house wine. If you keep walking you'll find some more reasonable priced spots. We sat at a counter and made some friends, overall an energetic and noisy spot.

Really excellent Italian wine bar, almost next door to the Washington Square Inn. The staff were very helpful and let us taste several wines before choosing our favourites. Great food too - we shared a generous size cheese & ham panini and other people were eating plates of macaroni cheese that looked very appetising.

We were sitting at the bar counter. We love the service, ambiance and our freshly bake focaccia basket. We also ordered a charcuteries plate which comes with delicious homemade Pesto and Pecorino. Ravioli del Casale was my main, it is not light but taste very homemade. The guy working at the bar is so friendly, I suspected he is the boss. He recommended great tasting of local California wine to my boyfriend (not Italian wine, he is unbiased being Italian) and very generous with his sharing of great Italian experiences. His passion and friendness, is giving a sense of happy satisfaction and enjoyment to be here.

This is one of the few restaurants that didn't have the ridiculous hour/2 hour wait for reservations. The food was absolutely delicious. The bruschetta and margherita pizza was an 11/10. By far some of the best pizza I have had. This will definitely be a staple every time I am in the area.

Probably the best pizza in the city . The flavor was the same that we are used to have in Italy . If you want to try something healty and tasty at the same time.. you must try Acquolina's Pizza .

Arrived in the area to go to a different restaurant however the wait was 2hrs, came over to Acquolina and so glad, loud and vibrant, excellent service and food, so glad we came here. Recommen the pizza and lasagna

Very disappointed with this Italian restaurant. Pasta and pizza without value. A canteen at most. Common taste. Minimum presentation. At $30 minimum the dish is shameful. We who love Italian cuisine, Trip Tip for employees and boss a stay in Palermo , Rome or puglia to discover the flavors

This restaurant is to be avoided!!! It's opposite the world pizza champion... but it's truly a disgrace!! Hygiene-wise, the restrooms don't lock, so anyone can walk in at any moment!!! The restrooms aren't clean!!! The pizzas are very expensive and absolutely bland, the dough looks like cardboard... and the ingredients are flavorless!!! They are the complete opposite of generous!!! The salads are the same... lots of salad (too much!!!) but few or no ingredients.... The bill, however, is very steep!!! $240 for 8 people with a 20% tax surcharge because we were a group of 8!!! Yes, I really assure you that this restaurant to be avoided; it's a rip-off of both taste and dollars!!! Run away! Run away!

Acquolina, 1600 Stockton St, San Francisco, CA The restaurant was quite busy during the evening but we were able to be seated. We were served quickly for the drinks but the food took a little while to arrive, but we were in good company so it did not matter to us really. We had Pizza Diavalo and a side salad as the main course which was very tasty but not the best pizza we have ever had. Overall this restaurant was above average.

Excellent Italian food. We had pizza and vegetarian lasagna. Both were fantastic. Great taste. Restaurant located on cozy street corner in “Little Italy” in San Francisco, CA. Definitely recommended while in SF.

After what was a challenging day, we walked by this place and stopped to look at the menu, a very lovely guy invited my husband and myself in and offered us a taster ( I think it was actually his dinner he was just about to eat!) he was so friendly and giving. We booked for that evening, and unforeseen circumstances meant that we would not make our 7.30 pm booking, however when we telephoned the staff said 'no problem, we will save a table for you' which they did even though it was packed. Hence we had a wonderful meal and were served by fantastic staff. A very big big thank you to Simon for saving our day in San Fransisco. Simon you are 'the man'.

Great Italian style pizza in a stylish ambience. Staff friendly and seemed far easier to get into than some other places. Definitely recommended.

I went to eat there for two consecutive nights, what about: very helpful staff (also Italians), very very good dinner and very nice local with the possibility of sitting both inside and outside. they welcomed us very well right away. it is absolutely worth it.

Made a reservation for what I thought would be a nice, intimate Sunday dinner in North Beach only to be greeted by a crowd of approximately 50 unmasked revelers on the sidewalk gyrating to blasting techno trash. Not one mention of this added perk on restaurant’s website. Also no mention that option for inside dining was a lie; all seating was outside and consequently subject to the soulless techno drivel and the #Covidiot Eurotrash wannabes bouncing back and forth. Food was mediocre at best. Needless to say, will find more suitable venues in North Beach in the future.

We had a nice meal here on a sunday evening inSeptember. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was very tasty. Restaurant set on the ground floor of the Dante building famously used as film location for iconic scenes on the rooftop in Dirty Harry, filmed in1971. The building is pretty much the same and Acquolina moved in fairly recently to corner plot of building. We sat outside which was well heated for time of year but plenty of inside seating. Prices in line with other similar SF restaurants.

Went completely off speck and what a result, fantastic atmosphere, great host and fabulous food, would highly recommend if you in the Washington square area.

We went here for a meal completely off the cuff,no booking was made to feel welcome and valued as a customer. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was buzzing. Can't recommend highly enough!!!

Instead of waiting for two hours at the famous Tony's Pizza Napolitana, we went across the street to Acquolina, to find a very wonderful service, a great authentic Italian pizza with Speck and cheese flown fresh from Italy. The servers are Italian, spoke with us in Italian and served us promptly and with "gusto".

We arrived tired and hungry after a very long walk. Service was great. Pizzas, beer and wine were excellent. Our table by the window allowed us to take in views of the park and passing parade of elegant people

Ok food terrible service nice location Not sure what the high rating is all about. It’s just regular pizza pasta and appetizers

We stopped for a glass of wine and ended up ordering a bottle of tenuta de Arceno Chianti and the eggplant Parmesan. The wine was delicious. The eggplant was smothered in cheese and marinara sauce. It was the perfect afternoon treat. Will definitely be back.

The meal was OK , we were cold and hungry. Gave a 20% tip. But were charged twice for the same meal once we saw our credit card statement the following day. Tried to contact restaurant by telephone but no answer. We are on holiday in San Francisco so will have to make a special trip to rectify the payments. Obviously we have contact our credit card company. Please beware , there plenty of other restaurants. This is the first time it has happened to us , so San Francisco is a good place to visit.

We finally felt at home! The food is really great and the atmosphere is Italian! Thank you for the kindness and welcome to all the watering staff and thanks to Marco!!

We all had different kind of pizzas and calzone and were all so good. All authentic Italian way to make and cook pizza! My one was with Italian sausage and truffle with fresh mozzarella and it was amazing! Stuff very friendly, nice Christmas decorations. We really enjoyed the food. I would highly recommend.

We had two excellent salads and shared a pizza. The caprese salad and the burrata salad were both excellent. We enjoyed the pizza as well. All the ingredients were fresh and flavourful- so happy we stopped in.

Certainly nothing special about this place other than location. We did get a nice window seat so that helped to up our rating. We wanted a nice Italian meal on Christmas Eve so booked a reservation at this place in the North Beach area of SF. When we were seated, the tables were set with bread plates but no bread came so we finally asked for some and were told they stopped providing bread a couple of months back. Really, an Italian restaurant with no bread? Moreover, they still have the oil and vinegar bottles on the tables. Strange! I had the eggplant Parmesan and was told that it doesn’t come with any pasta or sides so I added a pasta. Good thing I did as the piece of eggplant was so small that it would not feed a child. My wife asked if any of the entries were “fresh pasta” but the waitress said they don’t have any. She ordered the pappardelle and said it was so-so. The restrooms were about as clean and nice as you’d expect to find at a truck stop. We will not be returning and since there are so many great restaurants options in the area we suggest you go elsewhere too.

The food was tasty and fresh. The service was quick and courteous. We had the lasagna and veggie lasagna and both were fresh and tasty. It is small and cramped so it was a bit noisy. I would definitely recommend the food.

Pizza here might be of the best texture anywhere on Earth. And it tastes fantastic too. I ordered the margarita pizza with black olives. The pizza was cooked to perfection. Crispy all the way through. A nice layer of tomato sauce with just the right amount of cheese. Only complaint, the olives definitely tasted like sliced canned olives. Service was fast and friendly.

We went here for some drinks, but ended up staying for multiple hours, enjoying amazing food and great service. Marco is a great waiter!!!

Pizzas okay. The Coke and Fanta was served in glass where half was ice. Tasted of chlorine. Not the best place to eat.

To be honest we went to Acqualina because Tony's pizza (across the way) was fully booked and we didn't have time to wait. Personally, I love the industrial vibe of the place and the fact that they didn't do the classic Italian decor. There is a huge park just across the restaurant so we enjoyed people watching (yes we are creepy like that) and it reminded me of Europe so much. Food is good, tasty and plenty. The only reason I am giving it a 3 star is the fact that they simply forgot to bring us our appetizers (the place was not that busy for someone to skip a full order). We didn't get more than a sorry and a bill. I feel a little bit more of politeness and this place would be a hangout spot in its own right and not only a place where you go to because Tony's is booked. The pizza was great and worth a try!

Excellent restaurant with good appetizers and excellent first courses, there are also Italian waiters so TOP (one of which is very nice who spoke for a while with us). I ate there 2 nights in a row and there were 5 of us! Recommended.

The best Italian pizza in town. The bruschetta was also super delicious. The service was very friendly and at the end there was a delicious Aperol Spritz

Found this restaurant almost by mistake - and so glad we did. Great atmosphere and really good service from Vanessa who made sure we were well looked after. Food was good and we didn't feel at all rushed as is so often the case in restaurants. Pizzas to die for and amazing meatballs!

Stopped by for a late dinner and wasn't disappointed. We had pizza and beer and it was the best pizza ever! My husband has lived in Italy and he thought it was quite authentic. Wait staff was attentive and they had a nice wine/beer menu as well. Very little wait for a table. Skip the touristy place across the street and head here instead, you won't be disappointed!

Called in for dinner, had not made reservation but managed to get table. Really nice pizza. Good service.

Stopped in for dinner on our first night in San Fran after Tony's had a 90 minute wait. Acquolina's was able to seat us almost immediately. We ordered a Margherita and a Giorno & Sera that had large amounts of prosciutto that melted in your mouth. The crust was wood fired and full of flavor. The wait staff is super friendly and the service was good. For a Sunday night, the place with lively with loud conversations around us and old photos projected on the wall of famous Italians. Highly recommend eating here if you get the chance.

We were headed for Tony's pizza across the street, but discovered that it was closed on Tues. so we ambled across the street to Acquolina's. It was a great find. We ordered their margherita pizza which was delicious. It had a very thin crust. The service was great and there was no waiting.

Excellent. We loved everything we ordered and the service was very good. Quite acceptable price.

Dropped in here on chance one evening - buzzy vibe - but they found us a table ( for 3) fast and relatively attentive service. Food was fairly priced with good portions. Returned a couple times afterwards.

Good location opposite Washington Square. Service was good and friendly. Food was really tasty and salad portion was huge!

Had an awful and annoyingly rude experience at Tony's across the street. Stood up and walked over here and had friendly service and a less expensive, perfectly nice pizza. Thanks! :)

The food was actually really good but we have made such a bad experience in the beginning. When we arrived there, the lady at the entrance told us there is no table available so we had to wait at the bar. However, we bought a drink at the bar to get through the waiting time. A few minutes later I saw two people leaving. In the same time, two other random people arrived and have been seated by this lady. 2 minutes later another couple left and the same thing happened again with some other random people. Only when I told the barkeeper, then she organized a table for us. Thanks for that.

With it being thanksgiving Tony's across the road seemed to be closed so we gave this place a go. The initial impression was positive - we were sat down quickly and drinks and water were delivered in good time. That was when the problems started... we both ordered pasta dishes and some bread to nibble on while we waited. I would say I've had shop bought loaves that were much better. After, well a while, and everyone seated around us having been served their food, our waitress asked to double check what our order was. Clearly she had forgotten to order it, but 20 mins later she then tried to make up an excuse that the kitchen doesn't usually serve pasta at this time! This was despite two tables around us having ordered later than us AND received their pasta dishes already. The pasta dishes we later received where OK - nothing great but not awful either. My boyfriend also had all our cutlery dropped on him without even an apology. Overall - wouldn't go back, disappointing.

Our family of 5 (dad, mom and 3 teens) planned to have a nice lunch North Beach at Tony's. But the 45+ minute wait there sent us looking for alternatives. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place across the street. The service and the food was excellent and authentic. We had a great family meal.

Worst service in San Francisco, we were ignored the whole time, they lost our food and when it arrived over an hour late, the pasta was bad and cold, one of the pizza was burned and we didn’t even have napkins to eat. Very bad food and service, really avoid this place.

Been there with my wife for dinner in March 2022, and the food is authentically Spectacular! Grilled Ocotpus 10 stars out 5!! Very nice wine selection. Also the owner Marco, is the big plus! The location is very cute and warm. The staff superb, all great! As an Italian, I really recommend this Restaurant!

We only stopped in for a glass of wine since we already had dinner reservations but we got very helpful and attentive service from the staff. They are clearly passionate about their wine and allowed us to taste a few that are offered by the glass. We were guided to a wine that was reasonably priced and of excellent quality. We were served some great focaccia while we sipped. The atmosphere inside is quite good and being next to Washington Square Park is a plus. We will have to return for food!

I went to this restaurant with my husband and the hostess was very unfriendly and rude. We felt very bad and went way.

Spent a good few hours here drinking wine and eating various dishes. Wine is reasonably priced, dishes are a good size and very tasty. Loved the pizzas, Very light, thin crusts and some great toppings. Fun atmosphere and a great outdoor seating area to watch the world go by.

We ended up at Acquolina as where we originally were aiming for was packed - our fault for not thinking and booking ahead for two families of 8. The team at Acquolinas had a table ready outside, under cover quickly and we were on our way: Risotto Gamberi & Zucchini, Pizza Diavola Pizza Giorno & Sera – mozzarella, Prosciutto di Parma Pizza Maiala – local Pepperoni, Italian ham & Molinari Italian sausage We had a little incident with a family of "friendly" mice around our feet - and we were quickly accommodated inside. Great meal and atmosphere Outstanding venue and atmosphere.

Everithing was ok: the food, our waiter, location, interior and overall atmosphere. But there is one thing that could be improved : they have a person that picks up the plates after you are done with your meal. But that person is not very patient: he grabbed my friend’s plate while she was still eating her last slice of pizza. It was hilarious to us but I believe that it coud be annoying on some romantic dinner.

Not fully sure what happened. I liked this place a lot, went there at least 6 times over the past few years. Food was always more than good, people working there were very friendly and communicative, like the set up and location. I was also happy to support this place during pandemic. Went there again today and something was very off. Just ordered two pizza and the second they were served they didn’t look like what we were used too. I think we had the biggest issue with the cheese, it was heavy, gooey, there was way too much off it and the quality wasn’t how it used to be. The whole pizza was just soggy, my boyfriend said it tasted like the frozen pizza you get in supermarkets. Maybe it was just a bad a day, maybe restaurants uses different ingredients, not sure. Couldn’t even finish it; grabbed the leftovers home but most likely they will end up being tossed. I’m a bit sad writing this review, was always happy to go there but now I doubt I will be back, there’s just a lot of others options, especially in North Beach. Good luck!

Great bruschetta (simple but light and tasty, drizzled with just enough olive oil), followed by Pizza Dolomiti. This was a lovely pizza with a light crust, truly succulent and tasty. The chillis in oil were a nice touch but pretty powerful. To be taken in moderation. Finally Lynne voted the blueberry panacotta to die for. The Chianti was ok, not celestial and wine is costly in USA. Pleasant service and overall very good value. We'd come again.

Good sandwiches and Italian dishes with great service! A great place to stop for a drink or a quick lunch.

We couldn't get into a well known restaurant over the road, but we were not disappointed! The food and drink arrived promptly. The service was very good and the pizzas were delicious. Good value for a family of 6. Would return.

Great Italian food in North Beach, the food, service were all exceptional, they did spoil me for regular pasta dishes though.

Have had dinner here a few times. The service is okay the pizza is very good. Nice wine selection not overly crowded.

This little Italian bistro is very nice for a classic Italian meal with people watching. Located in Little Italy just past the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, is a nice place to relax after city walk and close to Coit Tower if you should want to venture in that direction afterwards. Ordered the Caprese and the mozzarella cheese was just amazing. I think the best I have ever eaten. The Caprese was a little different in plating then I am used to. The mozzarella and sliced tomatoes were served in the traditional laid out manner, but it also came with mixed greens and tomato salad next to it, so I guess you can call it a Caprese and salad. The Zuppa Tuscano was amazing. Lots of healthy vegetables in a light tomato broth that really made the soup pop with freshness from the garden. After indulging in other heavy foods on my trip, this helped me loose my guilty feeling by eating something that had to be packed with vitamins, low fat, and generally very good for you. Also ordered the roasted eggplant and it was outstanding as well. Sometimes eggplant can be hit or miss and a lot of people don't care for it, but this dish would be something just about anyone would eat and truly enjoy. I recommend taking a seat outside. There is ample sidewalk space to not feel like you are to close to the passer byers yet enjoy the people watching while you drink your glass of vino and relax.

Be careful here, the portions are huge! Great selection of pizzas and decent service, a good choice for a reasonably priced meal in San Francisco

Had the best lasagne ever here and that’s my favourite Italian dish, so I consider myself well informed to compare. My husband had the carbonara but found some of the ham to be fatty and the pasta a little too hard for him (harder than the al dente he expected). Our son ordered the margarita pizza and really enjoyed it. Friendly service, if eating at dinner time you may have to sit outside but they have heaters, so if it’s cold go at lunch time to avoid this. Enjoy!

Nice food, good atmosphere and friendly , happy staff! Perfect spot to have a nice Italian dinner in a lovely neighborhood

This restaurant delivers an authentic Italian vibe, it does this with lighting, music and decorations placed around the venue. The staff are very friendly and the majority are also Italian, which supports the Italian vibe. The meals are also completely Italian and offer a wide variety of selections from pasta to pizza to specific types of meats. They are all reasonably priced with majority of the price tags falling under $30. Very good value for meals as they are very filling, authentic and deliver up to the expectations. Very good overall restaurant.

While visiting San Francisco July of 2016, my wife and I wanted authentic Italian pizza . We found Acqolina and we've been there twice Already. I had the Calzone and my wife had the Pizza Primavera . Both were GREAT . Coming from Philly and being Italian I know good pizza . The dough was fresh made and very light . We had the gelato and chocolate cake dessert WOW ! All this and cool atmosphere , great friendly quick service HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

ANAZING! The food, atmosphere and hospitality was perfection. If you are visiting SF head to North Beach and check out this hidden gem. You won’t be disappointed

We got an outside table on Union Street, and had the best time watching the world go by while we ate Acquolina's outstanding Pannini...porchetta and salmon were both brilliant, and good value. The staff was so bright and friendly in a very natural way. Still feeling good from the experience !

We were very fortunate to get a table on a busy Friday night. With a window table too! Great atmosphere with friendly staff. The menu and wine selection are very good. Reasonably priced.

A well-paced, thoroughly enjoyable meal amid the mob scene in North Beach on a recent Friday night. Not haute cuisine. Server seemed like the real deal: thick Italian accent and truly attentive to our menu selections, going so far as to make some excellent suggested changes. Ended up with a pizza margherita and the cheese wheel pasta, prepared tableside - a real treat. Paired with a Barolo, which was admittedly not the best. An energetic vibe, but tolerably loud. Felt more like a comfortable place to meet up with friends than a date destination.

We tried this place out and the food was excellent. Also, the service was great and they didn’t rush us. I would highly recommend.

My husband loved the pizza and I had the spaghetti with porcini mushrooms prepared table-side in a huge round of Parmesan. REMARKABLE! Food was really terrific, our server was less than great, but that didn’t matter because of the great food and atmosphere in those very bustling neighborhood. I would definitely go back!

I'm from Italy and I'm in SF for business. I eat Acquolina's pizza and i really think they have an amazing pizza, the same food you can eat in Italy. Ingredients are genuine and tasty. Staff is great, polite and funny.

We ate outside here on a cool October evening. Excellent bruschetta and good pizza too. Actually liked the pizza better than Tony’s- sorry! Unbeatable vibrant location across from Tony’s, Jo’s and Washington Square. Service was fine but not terribly attentive.

After a day of exploring in the city we decided to try a the new corner place. We had the tasty bruschetta and margarita pizza. Both were delicious and the wait staff was great too!

Came with husband just as they were opening for lunch and in a really big hurry. They served us almost right away for 2 pizzas and wine. This is by far the best pizza Ive ever had. The topping was generous and crust divine.

We couldn't get into Tony's pizza as we heard that was the best so we thought we would try Acquolina across the street, we had a so, so salad and a very poor tasting pizza. It came out with hardly any topping we had order the ham and mushroom but there must have been a shortage as we could hardly spot the ham or mushroom it was mainly cheese and tomato source, not very good wouldn't go back for sure, but no doubt they get lots of tourist in and out so don't care

We stopped by here after a long day and found it really good. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was really tasty. The tables outside have heaters overhead so it's really comfortable to sit outside.

Generally, after you eat a pizza from a national chain, your stomach feels full from the cheese and the bread. After trying the Primavera pizza (vegetable pizza) from Acquolina, our stomachs were light and we were left craving for more. We visited San Francisco on Thanksgiving day (Nov 23, 2017) - best day to watch a crowded city. The roads were free of traffic - and we had plenty of time driving around, with free parking on the street. I will post separate reviews of the attractions. After walking around the Pier 33 we were feeling hungry for a snack around 2PM. On our way to the Coit Tower, we stopped by Acquolina for a pizza. This was the only pizza shop open and it was jam packed. Took about 5 minutes for the cashier to take my order, and about 15 minutes to hand over the pizza to me. But it was worth it. The pizza was very fresh, authentic Italian, very light on the stomach, and left us wanting more (in a good way).

Having waited with no hope at Tony's we crossed the street and found Acquolina on a saturday evening. We were welcomed with a quick table by the window. The dining hall is wide and comfortable. Service was good. We had burrata, parmigiana, pizza margharita and pizza delicioso. All plates were successful. Our wine was great. The check was ok. We left the place quite happy.I recommend this place to all Frisco visitors.

Went out looking for Pizza and were put off by the queue and ‘conveyor belt’ feel of some of the neighbouring offerings. Despite not booking, and them being very busy on a Friday evening, they worked hard to find us a table (and indeed others in a similar position - be wise, reserve ahead, but don’t be put off if you haven’t). Service was very good; drinks, meal order etc, but without any sense we were being rushed. Pizzas were excellent, and the house red (Umbrian Cab Sav) very drinkable. In all, fully recommended.

Was looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in San Francisco and we ended up here. Great choice! We had a good pleasant lunch. Recommended for sure!

The location is ideal and a great place for people watching. We only had one small food item and drinks, so I can say the bruschetta is good, but I can't judge the rest of the food. Service is a bit more laid back than an American restaurant, so it's not best if you're in a hurry, but we would return.

Only had time for a couple beer on the patio on our way to the airport but definitely will return. Our waiter and part-owner Mario filled us in on the history of the restaurant and his home town in Italy (Livorno) and made for a great place to sit outside and enjoy a couple cold ones. Can't comment on the food but based on our simple experience and Stockton/Union being a lovely area, we'll return on our next visit.

Good food, good service😍 We just came along The Street, and saw a lot of people standing in front of a restaurant.. Tony something.. We wanted to sit right now, so we just looked to The other side! A beautiful nice interior! Modern and stylish😍 The best way to eat😍

On our way back from pier 39 to Union square we stopped to have dinner at Acquolina. The restaurant is located on a crossroads that also has two other pizza restaurants, but this one looked the coziest to us. The staff was very friendly, the interior modern but warm and it didnt take long for our food to arrive. The appetizers, foccatia and bruscetta, were lovely and the pizzas had a lovely thin crust. We ate and drank for about 30 dollars, including tax and gratuity.

In an area plenty of Italian restaurants, it's really difficult to chose the right option. In this case, some local friends recommended it to us and the result was impressive. We went there around 4 p.m. and it was full. We got a table very quickly. Excellent pasta and focaccia and the best tiramisu we have tasted in this US trip. The Italian guy who took care of us was simply the best. Thanks. It's not cheap (as usual in this marvelous city) but highly recommendable

First night in SF and a great relaxed meal of terrific pizza and service. Great locale. Great wine list and we will be back. No need to wait an hour plus at Tony's neopolitan across the street (our original destination). Thanks!

We looked at a few of the other popular Italian Pizza restaurants nearby, but quite a lot of them use non-vegetarian cheese as their base mix of cheese (Italian hard cheeses), on what appear on their menus to be "vegetarian" pizzas. This place offers a couple of vegetarian options with Mozzarella as the base cheese. You can also adapt items on the menu. The service was very good and the food was excellent.

Everytime I come here, with friends, family, or alone, the greeting is warm, the seating comfortable, and the offerings wonderful. Great wines, truly excellent choices, as are the beers. This is real authentic cuisine, from years of experience, and it shows in the compostion of flavors and textures. Always a treat. Enjoy!

Food was okay; not great but not bad either. Service was horrible. Despite the fact that there was no rush they really did their best to get rid of us. My husband was still eating his pizza when they came to take our plates. He finished his pizza with his hands. They also tried to do the same with a couple sitting next to us. Hello, if she has her whole salad and mozzarellas on her plate, does it look like she's finished eating? One thing I don't need to complain is waiting for check. They didn't ask if we wanted to order dessert, they jumped right to the check. We wanted to pay with card and we were waiting to get a machine or so. This took a while and it ended up our server yelling my husband because his card was not on the table. Great service, sorry but we're never coming back. I wish there would have been an option to not leave a tip because seriously nobody deserved it. I hope other people choose a better restaurant. Being yelled at a restaurant don't really fit in my expectations of a lunch on our honeymoon.

The food at Acquolina was very authentic tasting. The pasta was homemade. We had the pesto which was excellent, gnocchi and cannelloni with spinach and ricotta. All three dishes were as tasty as anything I'd eaten in Milan on a recent trip. We enjoyed our corner table which was near large open windows and felt as though we were eating al fresco.

Great place! There is food for all the family, the options are rather few, but you don’t need more, the quality of the food is great, don’t miss desert. the service is just perfect. Good location.

Drove through the area in the hop-on-hop-off bus and it looked so cozy that I walked back. Randomly picking a restaurant that looked cozy next to a small park. The food was extremely good and original. The service very friendly even when it was clear non of us was native English speaking.

I'm not coming back to this restaurant. I would frequently go there for a quick dessert paired with an espresso, usually served by a nice and professional waiter with a beard and ponytail. Yesterday I was there with my girlfriend, and we were treated in a rude way, with plain hostility, by another waiter (most likely, one of the owners) for ordering "just a dessert" instead of a full dinner. There were a lot of tables empty and seating customers was not an issue. Sorry guys, if this is how you treat your customers, I'm not coming back, not even for a "full dinner".

On a Saturday afternoon in August the wait at Tony's (across the street) was over an hour but we could be seated right away at Acquolina, and I'm very glad it worked out that way. The pizza was super, with lots of topping options, very thin crust, friendly service, and a vibrant atmosphere, with a view of Washington Square. This was a classic old pharmacy in the 70s when I lived in tNorth Beach and it's good to see how nicely the space has been converted.

Stopped by this Italian restaurant and ended up on the patio with a great view of Washington square. Our server was friendly and recommended the pizza special which was thin crust pepperoni and Sun dried tomatoes. It was excellent! They had a good Chianti wine by the glass and the salads are big enough to share. Great place for dinner and people watching. Parking is street parking.

This is a great local place. We came for dinner but sat at the bar. Bartender was great with refilling drinks and making sure we had everything we needed. All of the food was super fresh and very tasty. Also, very large portions, you will not go away hungry! Very generous wine pours by the glass. Very decent pricing for what you get. It's a small place so you probably need reservations, not sure if they take them or not. I would come back and recommend to others.

Unilateral tip collection without authorization: They proposed a 20% tip on the bill without prior notice. After withdrawing it from the bill due to our complaint, they gave us the bill again without the tip. Our surprise was the next day when they charged it directly to the card without authorization.

Had a great Pizza here on a Friday night whilst looking for somewhere to eat in Little Italy. I ordered a Primavera pizza which was great - much like the European Sourdough pizzas and not like the American big massive slices ones. If you are stuck then this is worth a visit.

Just off Washington square, and close enough to walk UP Up to Coit Tower. The pasta is made from flour direct from the old country. Portions are smaller than other restaurants as they are traditional Italian style so you should have a salad or appetizer (seconde etc like Italia). Very good food

We just dropped in about 15:00h, and we stayed for coffee, drinks, dinner and dessert. Employees are mostly real Italian, and speak Italian amongst each other. Therefor the food is real Italian. The wine is good. The coffee is good. Service is superb. Unfortunately we live on the other side of the ocean, otherwise we've turned this into one of our favorite spots. On that note: we have been to Italy multiple times 😉 Real little Italy in San Francisco.

A friend of mine brought us here to try their pasta cooked inside of a giant wheel of parmesan. They light up some vodka and pour it into a very large wheel of parmesan to melt some of the cheese. They then toss in some fresh pasta and then top with sauce and serve. It was a fun, unique experience and the pastas we're delicious. We also enjoyed the burrata and prosciutto and a beautiful bottle of sparkling rose. All the food was great, except the octopus. I don't recommend it (very chewy and slimy). The service was wonderful, the ambiance is great, and overall we had a lovely experience. I did think that the server noticed I didn't care for the octopus, and brought us out a complimentary tiramisu, which I thought was very nice.

The food was pretty good. My daughter had the Margarita Pizza and I had the Housemade Lasagna. I asked for a wine suggestion to go with the Lasagna, the server did bring me a tasting of one he suggested but he did not do it with friendliness. It was just kind of like a pain for him. It was a very nice wine though and went well with my meal. Once our food came, the server didn't come check on us to see if we needed anything else. Tables were REALLY close together so we actually made friends with the people beside us and it really ended up feeling like a family dinner. That was a plus this time but it may not be if you get people beside you that you don't jive with. Overall, it was not a bad experience.

I arrived in San Francisco mid afternoon with no dinner plans. My Uber driver suggested that I head to the Washington Park area and the Italian restaurants there. After strolling up and down Stockton Street, I stopped in at Aquolina for an early dinner. Got a seat by the window to people watch and enjoyed bruschetta and pizza, along with a nice glass of Chianti Classico. Nice atmosphere. Friendly, attentive waiters. Excellent food.

Wandering around San Francisco's little Italy, looking for a nice lunch. This was better than we hoped for. They make their own focaccia for the panini. The Acquolina panini has Italian ham, sharp cheese, and a mushroom paste on their homemade focaccia. The meatballs were delicious, topped with shaved parmesan. They bring you crusty slices of bread with olive oil, peppers, and grated parmesan for a nice starter. I highly recommend this restaurant. Wait staff was wonderful. The restaurant appears to have a motto written on the side of the building and on their shirts - Love, Life, Food, Wine, Passion, People. Nice.

Great spot for pizzas and pasta in Washington Square neighborhood of San Francisco. Went with 2 kids (ages 7 & 4) and everyone had a great time. Good food. Friendly, attentive servers and quick service, which was great because we the kids were tired after long day of sight-seeing. Nice, but not fancy. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Right on the square. A good find!

We enjoyed some appetizers and spirits here. It was delicious. We had the meatballs, bruschetta, and minestrone soup. Our server was ok, they did not come back and check on us but whatever! The prices were reasonable. We sat outside and were entertained with the crowds of Washington Square. Not sure if I will come back here but overall, it was very good.

My work colleagues and I came upon this restaurant on a Friday night and we had a table on the sidewalk with a great view of North Beach night life. The pasta is home made. I had the ravioli and it was tastey. The house wine was also excellent. Good service and the owner was present and spoke with us a number of times. Clearly he was from Italy...so the food here is the real thing :)

Realt good pizza, nice service, good neighborhood. Furniture outside is ready to be replaced- and like everything Else in SF is the price a little high.

We made 2 visits to Acquolina. On the first occasion they forgot a meatball appetizer, but added it to the bill anyway. When we pointed this out, the bill was revised. We went a second time when other recommended restaurants in the same neighbourhood were too busy. Acquolina was not busy, we should have asked why. Despite the fact that the restaurant was not at all busy, we were kept waiting for our food. When we complained, a limp excuse was made and were promised our food would be ready in 10 mins. Again, the starter was forgotten and we had to complain. By this point we had been given the wrong aperitif wine. After finally eating, the bill came and we were offered a $2 discount on our starter (bruschetta) by was of an 'apology'. We suggested that $2 was actually an insult, and remonstrated about the catalogue of errors. The owner/manager was disdainful of our concerns. Please take note, if you are looking to dine in North Beach, choose one of the other more-popular establishments.

We had lunch here on Sunday 3/31 and it was excellent. The restaurant is in Little Italy and overlooks a park. It is a small place with some additional seating outside on the street. The food was excellent .We enjoyed the house made bread with Kalamata olives and 3 entrees: Pappardelle with wild boar, seared sea bass with capers, cherry tomatoes and olives and rigatoni alla carbonara. All the dishes were excellent, the food was prepared perfectly with wonderful flavors. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and made our meal even more enjoyable. Prices were moderate $21.50-$30.00 per entree. They also have great looking pizza. I highly recommend you try this place.

Had not been to SF for a year and was intrigued by Acquolina, which had opened since our last visit. My wife and I shared several courses, ie, a rice ball appetizer, a mushroom ravioli in saffron cream sauce, porchetta, a tiramisu for dessert, along with a Sicilian Nero de Avola red wine. Everything was delicious. The porchetta, however, was absolutely amazing. We would highly recommend this restaurant!

Very good service and great food. The staff are vibrant and enthustic. Good value for money. Well worth a visit.

Christmas Day - had an early Christmas dinner the evening was very busy for the restaurant but a good atmosphere. Good acoustics as although lots of chat could still hold a conversation. Glad we had a booking. Think they had taken on too many bookings as did have a long wait, although apologies made. In addition my main came out delayed so much as my partner had finished his. Again apologies made, however as Christmas maybe a drink as a gesture, but we didn’t complain at the time. It was expensive for what we had but that I think is the city prices. Food was very tasty and I would recommend. Door was propped open and therefore a little chilly some people were eating with coats on. Despite some of the negative points, overall it was a good experience and food was good so I would recommend.

We decided to try this place because all of the nearby restaurants were lined up around the block. Best decision of the day! My wife and I shared a pizza and a spinach salad, both were delicious! I think sharing 2 dishes was the way to go and seemed to be what everyone else was doing as well. We finished up with a slice of cake, also delicious! We walked away feeling satisfied and ready for more touring, would definitely recommend!

Service was slow and the other couple we were with received their dinner , ate and we still hadn't received our food!!! I am pretty sure that they forgot to put in our order. Once received the food was good, but come on WTH!

Run by Italian, we enjoyed our Italian pizza and the very friendly atmosphere. The service was superb and we were treated like family. I must stop in San Francisco!
Shocking attitude from staff
Food average. Service average. Shocking attitude from staff. Staff demanded 25% gratitude before letting us leave the restaurant.
