We stopped here for lunch and started with a wonderful sweet potato soup. I then had the Cassolette de Fruit de Mer and had them leave out the mustard and it was so good! The service was attentive but not too intrusive. The name is so misleading as it is an excellent French restaurant and not a simple little café as the name implies. This is a great place to try... you won't be disappointed.

Not sure the name alone would have brought me here, but I'm sure glad I discovered this quaint restaurant! I would definitely order everything I had again ~ onion soup, rainbow trout, cherries Jubilee!! All dishes were outstanding!! Will definitely go back!

My husband and I went here to celebrate his birthday. He ordered the Escalope De Veau Forestiere (veal) and enjoyed it. I had the Cassolette De Fruit De Mer. It was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is advertised as French style although one of the waiters said it was not French food. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the wait staff pleasant. I'd return to this restaurant and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal.

The Addison cafe has been serving great Continental cuisine for over 30 years and has no problem maintaining its food or service. Never had a mediocre meal there after repeated visits.

I was taken here by relatives when the restaurant where we had reservations was too noisy to converse. They had been here before for special occasions and our experience added to their good memories. Service was slow, but the waiter apologized and explained it was because they were understaffed due to the covid pandemic. The place was quiet enough to permit conversation and was very civilized compared to most restaurants these days, especially the slick chains where noise seems to be a priority. The four in our party had the rainbow trout, salmon, veal piccata and chicken marsala and we were all pleased. We split one of the tastiest creme brulees I've ever had, and the waiter served port all around to thank us for our patience. It was not very French but was fine dining the way it used to be.

This has always been my parent's favorite restaurant. The menu is exclusively French, yet it translates well for the unsophisticated 12 yr

Not sure why it has been so long since we came back here. The decor is white table cloth old world style. My wife thought it could use some updating, but I thought it was great. The one complaint we had was entering the restaurant is a bit awkward. The Saturday night we were there, you come directly into the dining room with people dining around you vs. a hostess stand and there is no one standing by the door to greet you. May be a COVID thing, but they need to fix it. Sometimes there is someone at the bar who would welcome you. We had a great table. Definitely a fine dining feel. Food and service are exceptional. We started with the Pate - perfect for two to share with a cocktail or wine. Next we shared a Caesar salad - my half with anchovies. Entrees were cooked to perfection. My wife had the filet of sole and I chose the duck. The duck was fresh and flavorful with a delicious brown sauce with a hint of orange - perfect and not overpowering the meat. The filet of sole was excellent. Embarrassed to say we tried TWO desserts. The Crème Brule got the top honors of the two, but the fresh strawberries marinated in Grand Marnier accompanied by some chocolate moose was a very close second. Nothing left to take home. The manager helped us with a wine selection and we enjoyed a nice 2010 Boudreaux. We won't make it so long next time between visits!

Yes we were a party of twenty but we made a reservation over a week in advance. We eat out as a group once a month so we have learned to give each restaurant plenty of notice. As far as we could tell, there were only two waiters in the entire restaurant. It took a long time to take our orders and even longer to get our food. The restaurant is tagged "a french bistro". I have had onion soup in many places in North America and beyond but I must say that the onion soup that was presented was, by far, the worst onion soup that I have ever tasted. There was very little onion and even less cheese so that it could not even form a crust when it was served. It even took a long time to get our bill. All in all a disaster..

Excellent food and unobtrusive service. We start with a martini. Then I always get the soup of the day unless its winter, then I prefer the onion soup. My wife loves the smoked salmon appetizer. We often get the pepper filet mignon or the rack of lamb. Fish of the day is another excellent option. The cappuccino pie is a very good and unusual cold dessert. The apple crepes are also excellent.

The Addison Cafe is an excellent restaurant - great menu with can't go wrong selections. Perfect service in an elegant setting. Cost for the two of us with no wine or drinks - just coffee, ice tea, and a bottle of San Pelegrino - was just over $100 with tip.

Not anything about dining in this little jewel is wrong. The food might take a bit to arrive, but it is excellent. Right amount, fresh and tasty. The service is attentive but not overly so. It is so nice to be able to converse with friends without having to shout. A regular for us!

Excellent meal and outstanding service. Extensive wine list. Veal was wonderful; trout was very good.

I had a business dinner here a couple of years ago and just loved the food and the service. The Cafe is now our family tradition for Christmas Eve dinner, for the last 3 years. My sister and I had the sea bass, it was perfectly prepared, buttery, tender and moist. Hubby and niece had the filet, they were tender and flavorful and each cooked as requested. The portions are generous - not little tiny servings you find at some "finer" restaurants. We had escargot, mushroom soup and salads as starters. The salads were fresh and crisp. Escargot was in a rich brown sauce and served in pastry. Sister thought mushroom soup could have been more savory; richer in flavor; but I liked it. Creme Brulee finished our meal. Lovely creamy centers with perfect caramel top. They are quite large, I did eat the whole thing; but probably could have split it with hubby. The staff are professional. They make the meal even more enjoyable. We will be back. Did I mention, we are about an hour away? The meal is worth the drive.

Addison Café is one of those tucked away little gems in Addison. If you want a very elegant lunch or dinner at reasonable prices this is the place. This restaurant is French with a capital "F", except they have the menu in English as well. The food is so authentic French you will think you are in Paris on a side street Café. We recently stopped by for lunch and had an amazing poached Salmon dish and a wonderful veal marsala that you could cut with a butter knife. The service is always attentive but not intrusive. The staff and management are always very friendly here. Well worth the trip. If you are looking for a low calorie meal this is definitely NOT the place, classic French.

after long wait because of covid we went back to Addison café and as we remembered nothing has changed food was excellent service also was 5 star we are so happy with this Dallas tradition. can't say enough about the quality of this wonderful place .we look forward to keep going there .Thanks Addison Cafe.

Haven't been to this restaurant in a while mainly because the chairs were not comfortable. Glad to say, they changed them. The food was always good in the past so two girls gave it another try. We both ordered smoked chicken salad. Very tasty. Enjoyed this lovely elegant restaurant. We were never rushed and service was great. We will be back.

A great place to go on a date or important celebration. Service is impeccable and the lunch is light and filling.

Very limited wine list with some wines priced over three times the retail price. We don't mind paying two times the retail price when we go out to dinner, but considering the quality of the choices, this was way above what we consider acceptable. The duck entree appeared and tasted as if it had been one of those pre-cooked packages of duck. "Pan-Seared" Goat cheese salad would lend one to believe the goat cheese would be warm, but it was rock-hard cold. The service was great and the ambiance was very nice and the food prices were not bad, but the food was not good enough for us to go back.

My husband and I have enjoyed Addison Café on numerous special occasions and this visit did not disappoint. The menu had changed some. My favorite chicken with raspberry sauce was no longer on the menu, but the flounder with citrus sauce was wonderful. The chocolate mousse continues to be the best. Since we no longer live in Dallas, our visits are less frequent, but still a favorite place to dine when possible.

We had the best rack of lamb at this unassuming neighborhood French restaurant, one that somehow manages to be casual and formal at the same time. Casual in that you feel so welcome. Formal in that service is first class. The menu and preparation are considered and impeccably executed. Classic French sauces and seasonal vegetables assure a delightful experience.

Interesting menu of traditional dishes. Nice location and dining room. Quiet and intimate with attentive and courteous staff.

Food did not impress at all. I had mushroom soup which was ok and filet of sole – absolutely tasteless and lacking texture. Espresso was also not impressive at all. My colleague had a chicken piccata and liked it, so the problem could be with me. Service was very good and effective and the ambience is very pleasant.

The first time I ate here it was not enjoyable. But I thought I'd would give it another try. I did, I won't again. The 2 meals I tried were nothing close to French cuisine. I tasted my hubbys and it was no better. We love French food. (Have had it in Seattle and Epcot center, more than once.) Save your money and try somewhere else.

This is a little known French restaurant on the heart of Addison. It has been here for decades and continues to serve some of the best meals in the area. Definitely a dinner experience for couples. Can be a bit pricy but well worth the time and money.

Like many restaurants emerging from the pandemic, the menu is limited. We had the pork tenderloin and trout. Both were well prepared and sauced properly. French onion soup was good; Caesar salad was good but could have used more dressing. Service was professional

This high end Mediterranean restaurant has been our family favorite since 1995. Absolutely fantastic service; fresh great food- always delicious. Portions are always just right. Very charming place and a must visit. You cannot go wrong.

Came here for lunch since the place I was going to was not open a couple doors down. The 5 onion soup is really good as well as the lemon pepper salmon salad could use a little less dressing. Would order again. The service a little stuffy however when you are solo in a place like this it is what it is. Would recommend based on quality of food.

Their were four of us for lunch and good conversation. Addison Cafe has been in operation for 35 years. The ambiance was excellent. Seating was comfortable and very low noise level which made for good conversation. They have an extensive menu and very reasonably priced. I had the trout almandine. The others had sole , chicken piccata, and a chicken caesar salad. We shared a piece of cappuccino pie. I would definitely recommend and return. A great experience and reasonable.

We went with friends of ours to the Addsion Cafe for dinner. We ordered steaks and fish and escargot. There were other dishes with crab and shrimp with pasta but we did not order them, only escargot at our table would have been a problem for allergies. The man who later identified himself as the owner was our waiter and I informed him that I am allergic to shellfish. I ordered Peppercrust steak so I was not too worried about cross contamination. One problem was that we repeatedly asked for the check and informed that we were ready to go. They brought more water and attempted to refill the wine glasses and brought us a port drink that was on the house. When we asked again for the check the waiter was annoyed but we had other plans for the evening. The big problem started we finished the meal the telling signs began to appear that I had eaten something that had shell fish in it or cross-contamination. I quickly took a Benadryl and then a 2nd one. I left the table to go to the restroom and saw our waiter behind the bar. I quietly told him about the allergic reaction and he was immediately angry and loudly said, "then don't eat at me restaurant anymore. I was stunned. I was not even angry at first but his angry response took me back. When I returned from the restroom I again quietly asked if perhaps I could speak to the Chef - he told me that the chef has gone home and for me to just don't eat in his restaurant anymore. He actually came around the bar and confronted me so close that he into me with his stomach as he told me that he was from Iran and that I could not eat there anymore. I raised my voice to his level and replied, "so I have an allergic reaction to your food after telling you that I am allergic to shellfish and your only response is don't eat here." He followed me to my table and told everyone that I called him a Bas***d. At the end of the day, I took Benadryl and was fine in about an hour but spent the rest of the evening very sleepy and disturbed that this man had taken what was originally intended as a notification and turned it into a verbal confrontation where he actually came around the bar and got up into my face. Since I am a good 8 inches taller and in much better shape than he, I was genuinely concerned that he was armed since he appeared to be seeking confrontation. we had already paid and left and are no longer allowed to return...not much of a loss obviously.

Love this place. It is great for a special occasion. The food is great and the wine is even better. Don't let the strip mall location scare you. The atmosphere is fantastic inside.

My step-mother brought me (in from DC/NoVA) to Addison Cafe after several very good experiences. Ali, our host, was charming, friendly and professional, and our food, from beginning to end, was delicious. I had the goat cheese salad with walnut vinaigrette and the salmon with citrus beurre blanc served over lentils. My step-mom had the same salad and escargot. We finished with the delicious flan/creme brûlée. In an age of noisy, upscale eateries, the Addison Cafe is a welcome respite: a charming oasis where one can enjoy wonderful food and great conversation. I'll be sure to return the next time I'm in Dallas, (My husband will love it!), and will be telling friends and family about our delightful evening.

I am not too sure how to begin this review. Having been to France many times over the past 20 yrs or so, we do enjoy some French cuisine and wanted to try the place not far from the house- Addison Café. I don't remember exactly what evening, Tue/Wed, but I do remember walking out. Poor food? Don't know. When we entered, we stood near the doorway for 10 minutes or so. The staff looked at us and ignored us- literally ignored us. Crowded? No, there were empty tables in the small dining area. A couple of waiters buzzing around. Were we underdressed? Don't think so- just left the office, not the gym. Reservation only? No. A family member? No, we are not- just potential customers. All in all, a very strange experience. No other option but to rate the place as terrible. I think we will stick with Caddos on Preston- wait staff can be a bit stuffy, but at least we are seated when we walk in the door.

We hadn't visited this restaurant in quite awhile. it's nice to know it is still a high quality dining experience. The night we were there, the restaurant was very quiet. With low traffic, I wondered if we would enjoy the meal. I'm pleased to say that we did, very much. I had the rack of lamb special that was topped with several shrimp. My wife had the grilled chicken. Both were fabulous. I loved the strawberry desert with grand mariner sauce. They gave us complimentary glasses of port to top off the meal. It was a great evening and one we'll repeat.

Had lunch here with a large group of ladies. Attentive service. Delicious food came out all at once. Great to enjoy hot food. So many restaurants serve luke warm food. Wait staff answered all questions thoroughly. Very accommodating. To go box was carefully wrapped and taped. Nice touch!.. Pretty, old world atmosphere and very clean. Lunch prices so reasonable for gourmet dishes. Easy to see why they have been in business for so long.

The food preparation was wonderful. The service was great. The atmosphere was not great, but if the food is more important, that you will enjoy this restaurant.

This was the first time I have returned to the Addison Cafe after several years. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as I remembered and that I was anticipating. We had two fish orders that were over done, tasteless and rubbery. We had the duck confit and the turnados both were quite good. The lemon butter sauce good but a bit thin.

After being away from Dallas for such a long time, what a joy to have dinner again at Addison Cafe. Ali and Joseph made our entire experience a delight! We were a bit late and they had sold out of our favorite filet of sole. So we opted for the trout with the lemon caper sauce they use on the sole. We also tried the duck l'orange for the first time. Wow! The food was exquisite. We paired our dinner with a glass of burgundy, which perfectly complimented our dining experience. Ali and Joseph were as attentive as ever with 5 star service from the moment we entered. We felt pampered and perfectly cared for. Addison cafe is so charming with the romantic decor and quiet ambiance. It is like stepping out of time into a private respite from the busy world outside. Over the top!

I'm not much on French cuisine but this place served up wonderful food with fantastic service. I enjoyed the pasta with shrimp and the 5 onion French soup. My husband had escargot and duck. He raved about meal. Quaint environment without a lot of noise.

Great food & intimate atmosphere

This restaurant has been around awhile but every time we visit Dallas we make it a point to eat here. The food and service are consistently excellent. Try the Escarot, they are fantastic. The menu is extensive and you can always find something wonderful to eat. Best news of all; the prices are quite reasonable for a french restaurant and the meals come with veggies, etc., eliminating the need to order everything ala carte. If you want a great meal I highly recommend the Addison Cafe.

The restraunt located at the corner of Belt Line and Montfort, offers a large and wounderful selection of wines. A wounderful ambiance and 5 star cusine. I have eaten there many time and have never been disapointed.

6 of us had lunch there today and the service and food were amazing. We have been there in the past with as many as 50 for a group dinner and the service and food were excellent. Our group has decided to return together and with spouses in the near future. We asked for a quiet table in the back and got it. So many restaurants are noisy. We dined on steak salad, salmon, shrimp and pasta, There were many specials and reasonably priced. We asked for separate checks and they graciously agreed.

This quaint restaurant has always provided excellent food. The service is outstanding and the owners are always present to take care of their guests. The atmosphere is one where you can have a conversation without shouting to each other. Highly recommended.

December was my 60th Birthday, so we wanted to revisit a nice place in the area for a special celebration. Wife let them know it was my birthday. Needing an early seating due to theater tickets, we were the first table seated. Several employees walking around during the meal, so you'd think the strive would be great since not many tables filled; but alas, they must have been playing cards in the kitchen. More than once we waited & then had to flag our server down. After taking orders we waited a long time for salads/appetizers but they got the appetizer/salad order wrong. That was fixed, then the entrees came. My filet, the most expensive on the menu, was very tasteless (do they know about salt) with a sauce that had little redeeming value. One fish dish was similar and one fish dish was OK per the wife. Although informed twice (reservation & when seated) about my birthday, staff never said a word, didn't offer a dessert or even coffee. We ordered a chocolate dessert anyway, but wish we hadn't. Buying ice cream at the grocery store would have been better. Then we waited far too long for the check, even though we told them we had theater tickets. Summary - poor & unresponsive service, food was mixed at best. At this supposed caliber of restaurant, a very, very poor showing. We should have waited longer to visit, like another twenty years.

Hadn't been to Addison Cafe for awhile. Too bad for us. Although it was almost empty on a rainy Friday night our party of 4 had a great time. Service was knowledgeable, professional and funny, in a good way! The food is traditional French, executed very well. The menu is very diversified so there's something for whatever mood you're in. Very reasonable wine prices, which is nice since we managed to polish off 2 bottles. Good dessert too. We'll definitely be back!

Attempted to have dinner with friend at a restaurant with low volume of noise since several in our group have difficulty hearing. This did not happen with a loud group of people seated next to us. Service was very good and attentive. The food was just okay. Fish was undercooked. Too expensive an evening. Would not return again!

My wife and I, plus another couple, had dinner together at Addison Cafe last month. And all four of us agreed that the food, atmosphere and service were excellent.

WAKE UP AND VISIT ADDISON CAFE - I am from Europe and was looking for a Michelin star restaurant ⭐️ in Dallas. Is does not exist. Mut I found this little gem founded in 1981, which was a total pleasure. Snails (escargot), onion soup, halibut and chocolate mousse. All authentic- and even the rose on the table was real. 🌹Please visit 🙏🏼 promise it’s worth it ❤️❤️❤️

Please look at the photograph of the entree included for this restaurant's listing. That is exactly what all entrees pretty much look like. Quality is excellent, but the quantity is a little bit short and the vegetables are quite plain. Still, it's an excellent restaurant. Where I am torn is that it calls itself a bistro so the quantity could be expected to be a little light, but the pricing is more like high-end excellence. And therein lies the disparity. They earn every one of the four stars they have. But no, it's not five stars, but the pricing is five star pricing. Would I go back? For sure if I was someone's guest. An appetizer and entree, plus two drinks tax and tip run 80 to 100 a person. So it's very very good just not superb in all the details that it could be.

I used to live in Dallas in the 80's. I came to visit this October 2013 and found that the Addison Cafe which held so many wonderful memories for me was still there. It's a little larger now, but the food is still top notch french cuisine. The owner, still as sweet and kind as I remember. If you are visiting Dallas, you have to make this restaurant one of your evening dining experiences. Especially if you are with someone you love. A very romantic enjoyable evening awaits you.

I have a quick lunch there because I was attending a conference but the Cassolette de Fruit de Mer (sauteed shrimp, scallops, crab finger with mushrooms in a fillo cup) was amazing. The service and the ambiance impeccable. I hope to be back.

We happened on this place while we were looking for a late dinner on Christmas day, when very few restaurants are open. We were so glad we discovered it. Very sedate atmosphere and very French. The waiters look like they just got off the plane from Paris. So much fun and the best real French food you can find in Dallas.

Dinner here to celebrate my wife's birthday. It will be one of top choices from now on. I travel and eat out a lot, and had almost forgotten how pleasant it was to dine where we could talk without raising our voices, and the wine list and menu had enough variety to satisfy us but not overwhelm. And the portions were reasonablly sized. Service was attentive without being intrusive. We will definately return.

Having gone to Addison Cafe several times over the past few years, I feel the need to review this truly wonderful restaurant. It is a triple winner: the food is consistently delicious and top quality; the ambiance is relaxed and pleasant without being pretentious; and the waitstaff are, likewise, careful and attentive without being stuffy and haughty. This has been our consistent go-to restaurant for special family dinners for several years. I truly cannot rate it highly enough!

The staff has been at Addison Cafe for years and the service and food are always incredible! I have never had a bad meal there. At lunch you should try their Steak Salad and at dinner you should try the duck - both are phenomenal!

We ordered from their standard menu items and it was really good food. The wine list is small but adequate with a reasonable selection of reds and whites. The bread to start with was a little crusty which was just right. Both salads we started with were very good, Caesar Salad and the house salad which had artichokes and a really nice lemony dressing. The pepper crusted filet steak was prepared exactly how I asked (medium) and it was a really good cut of meat that was spiced with pepper just right (a lot). The trout with crab meat was really good too. The service was attentive. After our meal we were chatting as we finished our wine and we were given a small port to finish the meal which is a very French touch.

Lovely fine dining. Excellent food, white tablecloths, kind service. Would definitely go again. Angel hair past with jumbo shrimp was perfect.

This place has a nice location and good outdoor seating. They need a better menu offering more charming Old World delicacies. Perhaps the owner of Eatzis could offer some advice...

I love this restaurant. Have eaten there a number of times; lunch with a client; lunch as a client; as a couple; and with friends. The service is impeccable; older waiters who have made this a career (not a part-time job on the way to somewhere else). White table clothes, napkins placed in you lap, chairs pulled out for the ladies, etc, etc. Such a joy to dine at a place where one feels cherished!. And the food is excellent. As French as you will find anywhere in North Texas. The escargot are the best anywhere, the burgundy sauce to die for! I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience here. It is located in a very unassuming shopping center in a busy area of Addison, but well worth finding.

As always, service was excellent. The special Valentines Day menu had nice variety. Atmosphere was semi-quiet so conversation was easy. The special pricing was high for the entrée plate. Good Veal and mushroom sauce but only 2 tiny slivers of carrots, and 2 tiny broccolini. The vegetables were very sparse. We did have additional soups and salads and dessert or we would have been hungry for veggies.

This restarant has a lovely quiet ambience with excellent service. The restarant has a small intimate atmostphere. The food is outstanding, and they will prepare it however you like. Their cheif specials are what my husband orders almost each time we go. The salads are delicious. The prices are reasonable considering such high quallity. You will not be disappointed and you will find a gem in this restarant.
best-kept secret restaurant in the area
We've been coming here for years for a quiet meal, with great food, attentive service, and lovely atmosphere. There are hardly any places one can eat where the noise level isn't so bad one cannot hear the person next to you, but at Addison Cafe we can count on a great meal in peace and quiet. We almost hate to share our secret, but Dallas diners need to know!
