This restaurant has 3 seating areas two inside and one outside. As well as a small. At area. The decor is neat and colorful. The table side freshly made guacamole is incredible. The server was very friendly and prompt. The hostess ok. The tables are very tight !! It is difficult for the chef to get to the table to make the guacamole due to space. The tacos were ok. And the flat bread kind of dry. So that was too bad. The dessert was delish ( fresh chocolate churro) and it was an authentic atmosphere. I don't think we will return on our next visit as there are so many choices. But it was fine.

I was planning to hit a different restaurant before second city but it was closed for an event...thank goodness! The food was amazing, the margaritas even better and the service was phenomenal. Definitely make your way to this place when in Chicago. The tuna ceviche was especially yummy!

About 25 of us had a group meal; including several Mexicans who commented on Adobo being as good as any meals they had back home. I had the salmon which was very good. Overall comments from my colleagues was positive. Our group was able to have it's own area with dedicated serving personnel. Really good meal, great ambience, and attentive service. Worth a visit.

We go to Mexico every year and enjoy the food there. This restaurant was authentic Mexican but raised to the next level. The depth of flavor of the sauces when outstanding. Our waiter Andy was so helpful. He also allowed us to sample the sauces so we could order to our taste. Best waiter we ever had. We ordered so much we weren't able to make room for dessert! But we thoroughly enjoyed everything. Make sure to order the table side prepared guac! Outstanding!

It's been a couple of years but I recommend this casual Mexican Restaurant to everyone that I know who is visiting ' the windy city' Great food - authentic Mexican with wonderful fresh ingredients. The table side mixing of fresh guacamole is just great. The best selection of tequilas that I have seen are a feature in the bar and the staff are very welcoming. You have to include the Adobo in your visit to this great city - you won't be disappointed .....located in a really nice neighbourhood, close to downtown and on the same block as Second city comedy club .

From the moment we walked in we were welcomed as if we were old friends! The perfect spot to eat before seeing Second City across the street. The food is freshly made, in house, with care. They even made me a special cocktail since I'm not a huge tequila fan. The food was fabulous! One of our favorite spots! Highly recommend.

Visited on a Friday night and the place was packed but we were able to get right in. The food and drinks were amazing and our server was very helpful! Oh, and they have 90 brands of tequila...what's not to love about that!!

Being from Southern California, I know Mexican food. And Adobo Grill is very close to the authentic Mexican I get at home. Loved how the margaritas are made from scratch, no bottled mixes. I thought it was cute that the waiter felt the need to explain the menu and why the tortillas were served on the side. I guess there are a lot of folks that do not know how to eat Mexican food. Highly recommend!

We used to live in Chicago but moved away two years ago. On our most recent return trip we paid a visit to Adobo Grill and it was as good or even better than it was before. Our two bartender/servers, Ernesto and Carlos recognized us despite our not having visited for quite a while, as did the two hosts George and Lily. Three other servers, including Bronwyn, stopped by to say hello. The margaritas were excellent, as were the guacamole and our main courses of chicken enchiladas. Dessert was spectacular, a tres leches cake on top of a buttery 'crisp' with a canela topping. Adobo continues to be one of our favorite places in our favorite city.

My travel group were visiting Chicago and had tickets for Second City on a Saturday night. With wanting to get there early, I figured dinner within walking distance of SC made sense, so I made a 5:30 reservation for the eight of us. We were seated immediately in our own little alcove. The restaurant has a vibrant and upbeat feel to it that put us in the mood for a great dinner. Our main waiter (Miguel?) was energetic and friendly and made the experience fun. Those who ordered Margaritas were treated to them being shaken table-side and said they were delicious. The beer-drinkers all found something to their liking, although a few more selections would have been appreciated. Tableside guacamole was great - we had one prepared milder than the other, but I added hot sauce on mine anyway. As noted in another review, the salsa was on the mild side, but hot sauce solved that problem as well. Everyone thought the food was delicious. Because we drank for a while and had appetizers and entrees, we arrived at Second City a little after 7 for the 8 o'clock show. That was perfect timing and we got seats near the front of the stage.

We dined at Adobo on New Year's Eve...it was our first time here, and we chose it mainly out of location - as it is adjacent to The Second City where we had show tickets. We were very pleased with our experience and would definitely return. It's located in the Old Town neighborhood nearby many other bars and restaurants.I ordered the speciality Adobo Margarita which was a great choice. For our entrees, we shared a bowl of their chicken tortilla soup and chicken quesadillas. The food was very freshly prepared with quality ingredients. This is a fun place for families, couples or individuals. We dined at the bar and saw a mix of all, and of all ages.

Our son and daughter-in-law picked this place for dinner for six of us, before a show at 2nd City. We could not have been more pleased. Living as we do approx. 50 miles from the Mexican border in the CA desert, we have great Mexican cuisine, frequently - but this was worth a visit, with their unique menu. Each of us tried separate cocktails, entrees and desserts and enjoyed each of them. We'd suggest - urge - you to visit Adobo "Old Town" Grill before a show or any time - tell 'em we sent you!

Chose this restaurant prior to a show at Second City (just around the corner) based on Trip Advisor reviews and were blown away. Outstanding, fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine (not Tex-Mex) with great sauces. Everybody gets the usual salsa and chips, but try the guacamole, which is made fresh when you order it. Entrees were varied and plentiful -- pork, beef, chicken, shrimp dishes in addition to a variety of unusual tacos. Great margaraitas and a large beer and wine selection. Service was excellent -- gracias, Luis.

We were in a time crunch going to Second City, but wanted decent food. This place was not only able to accommodate us quickly, we also had guacamole made fresh at our table within 5 minutes of sitting down. Add a pitcher of sangria and delicious tacos and enchiladas, this was a great place to eat. The service was friendly and fast. The food was all good. Definitely worth trying out if you are in the neighbourhood.

Great and friendly service, large menu with delicious Mexican food, charming atmosphere with colorful art.... But sadly Adobo is currently closed due to a terrible fire. Adobo is my neighborhood go-to restaurant, which says a lot because Old Town offers dozens of amazing restaurants. Please reopen soon!

Went to Adobo Grill's North Ave. location for the first time for lunch yesterday. Beautiful day so we enjoyed dining in their attractive courtyard. Started off with margaritas and guacamole (large portion - we couldn't finish it). For entrees, my wife had a huge bowl of chicken soup with lots of veggies, etc. & I had the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with fries. We were both happy with our choices. Liked the menu better than the one at their old location. Service was very good.

Incredible margaritas - shaken at the table - and the tableside guacamole is an absolute must! Some outdoor seating so a great spot for the summer, but not a lot of tables so get there early or make a reservation. Note it isn’t on wells as listed - a block off of wells on north avenue.

Situated in the same building as Second City, we were pleased to get a table for 5 after a 5 minute wait on a Saturday night since Open Table did not have any reservations available. There are many side rooms Inge restaurant. Our party of three generations enjoyed a meal of large portion appetizers and their popular table side made guacamole. The guacamole is spiced to request. The sangria came to our table in an ominous looking tower that might have been more fun if the fruit was in the tower and not just the glass, or served in an outdoor setting. Overall it was a good experience.

Our table of four enjoyed the tableside guacamole, a couple orders of tacos, a chile relleno, and the enchiladas. They were all delicious with authentic fire-roasted flavor profiles. The one slightly off note was the amount of cheese in the chile relleno- it was a little excessive, even for us cheese-loving midwesterners. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend a table on the patio. Just note, the patio is pet-friendly. After speaking to some locals, I also recommend a reservation. We lucked out because there was one table available, but apparently waits can get quite long.

I truly chose this place from reviews on Trip Advisor,...and yes the tableside guacamole was great..and that's where it ended..the service was fair to ok....took the order nothing special and food runner brought the food...maybe saw the waiter again at the end? I ordered a pork dish with mole sauce...the pork was over cooked and dry..and drowning in sauce...another one in my party ordered octopus tacos..his favorite...they were over cooked..mushy and very fishy...another had a steak..was ok...but not a lot of flavor...I was very disappointed and would never return sorry to say! Yuk!!

This place is conveniently located in Old Town, so it's a great place to grab dinner before a show at Second City. The fresh made guacamole is delicious, and I enjoyed the tacos as well. Service was wonderful, and the outdoor patio is great place to enjoy a drink.

We went here before going to Second City, as it is adjacent. Easily got a table without reservations. Absolutely delicious find. We ordered the chips with a choice of four different salsas. I got the Pollo al Tamarindo ($16.99), which was excellent. Loved the sauce. The guacamole that came with my dinner was also outstanding. My daughter ordered salmon ($18.99), which was also delicious. The portions were large. The waiter was fast and courteous. We would definitely recommend Adobo Grill.

Quick meal before going across the street to Second City. Noted for the guacamole prepared at the table and margaritas of course. Beautifully presented Ceviche and delicious Sopa de Langosta.

Recently returned to this old favorite and wondered why we don't come more often. For about 10 years we have enjoyed dinners, or just drinks and snacks here. The food is consistently very good and inexpensive. Low key but not a bit shabby; the interior always seems fresh and attractive. I always enjoy the margaritas and the good choice of Mexican and other beers. The guacamole is prepared table side and can be offered as mild or as spicy as you wish. Personally I am not a fan of hot spicy food and the kitchen has always been accommodating. A really positive sign for me in a restaurant is that I can see that many of the staff have been employed here a long time. The restaurant is located on Wells St, close to North, which is a nice location in itself and is also a perfect location to visit before going to Second City, next door.

My sisters and I shared appetizers and drinks before heading to the Wells Street Festival. The guacamole made at the table as well as the empanadas trio plate were outstanding, while the dorado ceviche was just okay. The margaritas were very tasty; could have used another splash of tequila! Service was warm and efficient from beginning to end. Definitely would return!

Awesome food and really fabulous service . The place was crowded as we wakes in on Wednesday evening. 20 minute wait and got a table ... Great Guacamole and plenty of veg options on nachos, enchiladas etc., excellent Margarita served on the table .... great ... great food !

This restaurant is next to the Second City theater. We stopped here with no reservations and had drinks and freshly made guacamole and chips. The margarita was one of the best I have had in the United States--real lime juice, good tequila. Just the right amount of sweetness. We were seated next to the bar in the window--good choice because the rest of the place seemed a bit noisy and chaotic. Good service, excellent food for what we had. We were planning to return for dinner after the Second City performance, but they were closing. I found that a bit strange as I think a lot of people would have stopped there after the theater.

Small restaurant in heart of Old Town (North Ave at Wells), Adobo Grill is popular with locals as well as visitors. Great house Margaritas! Food was excellent, particularly daily specials. Suitable for larger groups which is popular with millenials as well as romantic for couples.

Guacamole heaven! Margaritas perfect and crowd is young and hip. Tacos were not as I expected but atmosphere is perfect.

After visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo this was the perfect lunch spot. We had the guacamole (made table side, a must have!)tacos carne asada, and fish tacos. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was a little slow, but friendly and helpful. I would definitely come here again!

This restaurant has totally rebranded from its former location on Wells to its new site at 215 West North Avenue. Great looking new menu that simplifies ordering, while giving you a wide array of choices. We had fantastic service from Miguel. Great cocktails, fresh guacamole, cheese quesadillas, and a wonder bar Chili Reenios. Manager Jorge Ortiz runs a good show that also honors reservations in a timely fashion. Drop in and you too will enjoy the friendly ambience of this local establishment with great Mexican food.

Went there in early January with family. The food was fantastic. I had chicken enchiladas in a fantastic sauce, and my wife had excellent cheese quesadillas, with blue corn tortillas. Guacamole was also superior. Bravo.

Although not really downtown this is a no expensive nice restaurant with real Mexican food for reasonably cheap prices. The freshly prepared guacamole is especially nice! Definitely recommended!

The table site preparation the guacamole is wonderful. Margaritas are shaken tableside. This place is a good value for the money. The entrees are okay. Excellent service

Stopped by to eat on the way to The Second City to see a show. Had a few drinks and all the chips, guacamole, and salsa we could eat. Made the guacamole right at the table which was a nice treat. People were very attending and refilled our water with "cold" water on a regular basis. Had a variety of Mexican fare and all was good. Reasonable pricing. Interior was clean with nice seating.

The "new" Adobo is open after the fire last summer. Location moved from North Wells to just around the corner on the south side of North Avenue. Overall somewhat smaller; but, has a much larger and nicer outdoor seating area in a courtyard on an adjacent lot. Virtually the entire wait staff returned so the excellent service continues. Jorge Ortiz remains the ever efficient and professional host. The menu changed somewhat; but, if anything, is even better. Favorites such as the Adobo margarita and table side guacamole remain. Our group had excellent meals of salmon, ancho relleno, shrimp and a flatbread with homemade chorizo. There is also a children's menu which I do nor remember previously. Overall, another great experience - welcome back.

I was excited to see Abobo Grill open up again. I took a visitor from out of town. Raving about how they used to prepare the Guacamole table side. Well that didn't happen this time which was disappointing. Also there wasn't much of it. We soon polished it off. I am sure before we always have loads left for the main. Some of the fav's have gone too. I struggle to find stuff I wanted. I had the chopped salad in the end which was disappointing. The tacos were okay. The other two dishes were alright, not amazing. I am sad to say I may not go back. Shame. It's just around the corner.

This wonderful restaurant is located in the lively Old Town section of Chicago, right across from Second City. The menu is not large, but has a good selection of tasty, creative Mexican food. The guacamole is made at the table (if you are seated inside the restaurant), and it is excellent. The service was fast and friendly, and the staff was very helpful. We went on a Saturday night, and fortunately we had reservations because otherwise we would have waited 20 minutes or more for a table. Highly recommended if you are in this area of town.

Fabulous authentic Mexican food. The homemade guacamole is a must. I would also recommend the ceviche sampler. You won't be disappointed. I go here every time I'm in the city.

On vacation with my teenage boys and stopped here on short notice. It's a small space so it's best to get reservations. We sat on the patio as there was no tables available inside. The guacamole was freshly made and tasted great. Likewise, the margaritas were very good. I ordered the chilli relleno, which was like nothing I've ever had- perfectly fried with a light breading filled with picadillo on top of a flavorful red chile sauce. This is not Tex Mex but rather high end Mexican Cuisine.

My husband and I were in town for a Cubs game and saw that there was an AG here in Chicago. We used to have one in Indy but it closed a few years ago. It was one of our favorite restaurants so we were excited to find one in Chicago. The guacamole is AMAZING. My husband had the tamales and I had a cazuela, which is a little melted casserole in a earthen ware dish. Both dishes were great. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful and gave us free churros when he found out we loved AG back in IN. The restaurant was also very clean, which is super important to me.

Its hip, updated and very delicious. The menu offers excellent array and the guacamole is made table side and some of the best around. Sangria, fabulous snapper is to die for, and the soups are so good. Good service thats fast and the room is buzzing with energy. You will have so much fun here and a great meal for a reasonable price.

Had reservations nearby at a place that was WAY too loud and geared too much to bar food. Looked for another place and stumbled upon the Adobe Grill right across from Second City, our show for the night. What a pleasure and unexpected surprise! The menu was very inventive and the LARGE tequila menu was impressive as was the knowledge and attentiveness of the waitstaff. The fresh guacamole prepared to your individual taste at table side was incredible! Al pastor slow-roasted pork tacos to die for. Companion's lightly-battered fish tacos were delightful. Adobo Grill is what restaurants in the venerable Mexicantown neighborhood of Detroit aspire to be.

Ate at this restaurant on 12/26/13. The food was excellent (Cazuelo de Chorizo appetizer and the Pechuga entree were very tasty!), but, the service was far from what I was expecting. Not very attentive. I will try this restaurant one more time but I would like to see improvements in the service!

We tried various Mexican restaurants during our trip to the US and this was the best; we had dinner here twice. The guacamole made at the table is very good and you can ask for it how you like it (more chilli and lime juice for us). The Thursday special (Cochinita Pibil) and the steak dish from the standard menu were the best dishes; I was disappointed by the enchiladas. The churros were very good too. Service was good overall but a bit variable.

The most amazazing Margarita in the world! Well, at least in Chicago. We often go here just for guacamole, salsa and chips, the house margarita with Mezcal Smoke added, and the great conversation that ensues. But, they have the Margarita Dinner on the last Thursday of the month also and that is an amazazing experience also. They promote a certain tequila and the foods that go along with it. You get to learn a little about how that tequila is produced, what makes it unique, and what foods it is best paired with. A must attend experience. Put your reservations in early it is always packed.

You may be aware of the fire that engulfed the restaurant and much of Second City in August 2015. Adobo moved across the street on North Avenue in July 2016. This was our first visit since the move. They took the space formerly occupied by Dinotto Italian restaurant. It's a bit smaller than their former location but they have done a nice job on the decorating and it was quite comfortable. We got there moments after opening at 5 pm and took advantage of happy hour with margaritas. We had forgotten it's restaurant week in Chicago so we took advantage of that as well. Started with guacamole which is fairly traditional and tasty. We split two appetizers and dinners from the restaurant week menu. Desserts were also chosen from that menu. Unlike most restaurants that take part in the week, Adobo's portions are full size portions so by the time we were done, I was a tad stuffed and took leftovers with me. Everything tasted great but we've had better mole. Service was beyond good. Almost too much attention actually but they were charming and we enjoyed it. We will return on our next opportunity for a weekday dinner to judge from the regular menu.

Excellent food and service. Incredible margaritas (shaken at the table) and guacamole (prepared at the table). Will definitely go there again when we visit Chicago.

Old favorite of mine when I lived in the neighborhood. Menu is good to very good but the fresh guacamole is a must.

This place is excellent! We sat outside on a Sunday evening and had a great experience! The Adoba margarita was fantastic! The guacamole was the best I've had ever! We ordered the shrimp ceviche app which was delicious and could have been shared by two couples. The flank steak was a lil tough but flavorful and hubby's mole chicken enchilada's very very good. Directly across from Second City this place is definitely a repeat visit.

We used to go to Adobo Grill's original location often before it burned down so we were looking forward to eating at its new location. The people there were, as before, very friendly and attentive and the food and margaritas were as good as we remember. However, the noise level in the room we were in was so loud that it so diminished the experience that it is unlikely we will go there again anytime soon. My wife and I are in our sixties and we don't like loud restaurants but even our 20something niece complained about the noise at Adobo.

We are so glad we found this place. Just doing the touristy walking thing in Old Town and thought Mexican food sounded like a good idea, so in we went. What a find! You must order the guacamole, which they make at your table. You must have a margarita (or two). It was seriously the best margarita I've had in my life. Food was excellent, service was great - our waiter was very friendly and helpful. They have flights of tequila, which I've never seen anywhere else; my husband thoroughly enjoyed getting to try several different kinds in small servings. I would highly recommend this place.

This is one of those places you always hear about where you shouldn't let the hole-in-the-wall appearance deceive you. The place looks superficially cheesy, with worn formica tables and all that. But the food is inventive, interesting, and overall pretty decent. We had the guac made tableside, which was quite good. I ordered the small plate tamales, which are a variety pack with 3 different sauces and fillings. While the mole on one of them wasn't the best I've had, the whole mix was pretty good. The place specializes in tequila and offers a flight, which we didn't do. However, I ordered a margarita that I really liked, and which packed significantly more of a punch than those watered-down concoctions you get at fancier Mexican joints these days.

The restaurant has moved slightly - new location recently. But just across street from Second City now. Adobo has awesome guacamole made fresh as you order! Could make a meal just on it...We then had two more appetizers (flatbread with chorizo and mixed skewers - chicken, shrimp and steak - with grilled pineapple). They were both very good. The grilled pineapple was super sweet and very tasty! Enjoyed it all on a nice patio on a very comfortable summer Chicago evening. Enjoy!

Passed by this restaurant not knowing anything about it. The fresh made guacamole was the best I've tasted. The tacos were also lovely. Good option for those going to a local show after.

Perfect location . Limited menu but eatable. Get the guacamole and the soup. Flautas and quesadilla were ok. Then go to Second City

Very tasty food - including delicious combinations with wonderful flavors. Not at all like the cookie-cutter standard Mexican places out there. In fact, there was not a burrito to be found on the menu. Outdoor seating available. Excellent waiter who was attentive, available, friendly, and informative - without hovering or being intrusive. When I asked for a recommendation between two meals that I was considering, he actually gave an opinion rather the providing the usual types of pat answers such as "everything here is good" or "what are you in the mood for." Would definitely return here.

Love the restaurant/s decor and love the fact they actually mix the fresh guacamole in front of you. Have to say if I have chance I will go back just for the guacamole!!

I went to brunch recently and got the adobo salad. Really delicious with a light cilantro dressing. My husband got something with eggs and plantains (?) and said it was great too. Obviously got guacamole too and it was fab. We sat outside on the patio and it was lovely. All good things!

Nice to see Adobo back in business after the fire. Food is still very good and the guacamole remains fabulous. We dined outdoors and the new setting is very relaxing. The service here cannot be beat and the servers are attentive and engaging.

I have been at Adobo in december 2013 with my wife, on advice of LP guide. Well, the guacamole prepared at the table was simply irresistible, the food was great and at the end the owner offered us the dessert which was delicious as well. He realized that we were italian and entertained us for a bit... A very happy evening with no weak moments! I fully advice this restaurant.

Noisy, cramped but excellent food & generous servings. Interesting menu, well priced . Drinks are pricey but pours are large.

It was very crowded and extremely loud, but for good reason. The food is the best Mexican food I have ever had. The service is very friendly and helpful, and the guacamole is amazing. I got the chicken enchiladas, which were very good, and not too huge a serving size. I will definitely want to come back here

We had a great meal at the Adobo Grill. The food is delicious and the staff warm/friendly. This is a perfect choice if you have tickets to see a comedy show at Second City.

We returned to this restaurant for the second time since they moved from next door to second city. This place is now FABULOUS with a very inviting menu. Manager Gabriel runs a good show with excellent service from Ruth and bus service from Perfidio. We started with tequila and sangria with our chips and guacamole. Rather than full entrees due to the heat, we had the jalapeño re-enllos and the empanadas. Great food. Great service. Great locale. Go there now and you too will walk away satisfied and with a smile.

Can across Adobo by chance walking on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Just above Old Town on N. Wells, Adobo redeems Mexican food for anyone who can't separate it in their minds from Old El Paso and Taco Bell. The small patio is perfect if it is a nice day and you can sit outside. It is just shaded from about 12:30pm on - the street is quiet enough to allow a nice meal. Food - they have a wonderful guacamole dish ($8.99) served in a cast iron dish that it is made in (which is the mortar, which is the pestle? I forget). Freshly made and bursting with flavour, that and a beer would have made a fine lunch. I added chicken tostados ($7.99) and was glad it did Seven little tostados with a generous tablespoon of seasoned shredded barbecue chicken on top, some mexican chees and I don't know what else. Perfectly balanced, flavorful and well worth going back for. My wife had tacos with carne asado. The beef was tender, nicely seasoned but overall I preferred my chicken for the flavour punch. Service attentive and friendly. No been on tap, but a good selection of artisanal and Mexican beers by the bottle. All in all, a very nice lunch.

We were in a hurry to eat in order to get to a show , and were in and out in 45 minutes . The tamales were awesome.

Friendly staff, excellent margaritas, terrific guacamole, delicious tortilla soup - what more could you ask for? Just go, you won't regret it.

Great price and the food is delicious. Highly recommend this place. The guacamole and tacos al pastor are amazing. Good prices.

Visited Adobo Grill after touring the Chicago Historical Museum (which by the way was a very nice surprise - although I am a Chicagoan - had never visited). Adobo Grill was a smaller restaurant than expected, but did not feel overcrowded. The notice level, at full capacity, is moderate to high - depending on who is in the restaurant at the time, but not disturbing. The food was well prepared and very good. The server we had was great and attentive. We had the guacamole and enchiladas. I would recommend both.

Three open tables but would not let a party of two sit at a table for four even though it was early at only six pm!! Husband loves Mexican but I don't so I asked to order off the kids menu and pay an adult price --- NO was the answer to that! Wouldn't accommodate a picky eater as myself so my husband could enjoy that was disappointing. He ordered the highly recommended salmon and said it was good. We felt the price was good for what he got.

If you're looking for a little more than fajitas and are willing to try some new things then the Adobo Grill is a great place to do that. There's a wide menu with all of your mexican favourites but enough to satisfy the adventurous too. We opted for the table side guacamole which was definitely a highlight - fresh and delicious. The margaritas are also worth a mention - delicious although probably a little dangerous too! We ordered a variety of dishes and shared them all which i'd recommend as the way to approach this. The food was really fresh and exciting with all kinds of different flavours. There was enough to be familiar but i was really impressed at the different foods, particularly the ceviches, that I got to try. Service is very good but ask to be seated in the main area as you walk in. We were seated downstairs and felt that the atmosphere was a little lacking.

We arrived shortly before the end of happy hour and the waiter was kind enough to give us the happy hour menu to get drinks and an appetizer quickly. The food was good. Pescatarians, vegetarians and carnivores alll will find good food. If you go, definitely get the guacamole which is prepared table side and is quite good. Location is great if you’re planning to go the Second City which is right across the street.

After suffering a devastating fire, Adobo Grill reopened in a new location directly across the street from Second City in Old Town on North Avenue. We chose the new Adobo Grill based on recommendations of friends and also having recently sampled their catering at another event. We were warmly greeted and seated in a quiet corner of the back room to honor our request for conversation friendly table. Absolutely must is to order the outstanding guacamole custom made to order table side and the hand shaken Margharita's. We sampled Taco's al Pastor and nightly special tamales. All were very good served with black refried beans and Mexican rice. Tortillas were tasty and warm. If you want your dish extra spice, try their house Habanero sauce! Churros for dessert were an excellent choice served warm with both caramel and chocolate dipping sauce. Prices are reasonable. Service was attentive.

Where to begin... the guacamole, made to your taste, at your table. So fresh, so delicious! Being wine lovers, my friend and I started with a sangria--yes, it was good, but after having one of the margaritas (wildly shaken table-side by an adorable waiter!), we wondered, "why did we start with sangria??!!). Seriously, quite possibly the most amazing margarita we have ever had--made our taste buds do a little hat dance. The specials looked fabulous, but we opted for enchiladas and the Chile relleno--mmmmm. A lively place, great for a few people or a group :)

Ate here on 7/20/18 with the wife. For apps we both got the Guac, which is prepared fresh tableside. It was very tasty, although I prefer larger chunks in my Guac. For main courses, we both had the Carne Assada, which was both tender and savory. We also had the house specialty Margaritas, which were both tangy and well poured. Great place to have a Tex Mex meal before walking across the street to Second City.

We grabbed food here before running over to catch a show at Second City. It was tasty, with friendly and fast service. The margaritas were good (not the best I've had, but good). The guacamole is made at table, as well as cocktails.

While visiting Chicago with my 15 yr old son for our father/son weekend we enjoyed an amazing lunch at the Adobo Grill. We enjoyed the pork & fish tacos, and when our server Ryan found out it was my son's birthday, brought us a desert on the house! The churros were served with a side of dark chocolate and were delicious! I also enjoyed their Adobo Margarita which was quite tasty. I found their prices reasonable and the service exceptional! Conveniently located across from the Up Comedy Theater. Highly recommend!

We stopped by after an art gallery visit nearby for a fast lunch. Terrific omelette. Also a very good chile releno, and guac. Service was reasonably fast, and pleasant. $40 for two of us, no drinks, before tip.

The staff here were amazing and happy to suggest the best items on the menu to try. I had the steak, which I can highly recommend! Adobo is a great place to go on any occasion, in particular if you are planning to head to Second City afterwards. Tip: It wouldn't be Mexican cuisine with out some tequila!

Delicious Mexican food, and convenient place for dinner before a show at Second City! Tableside margaritas, and table side guac! Very friendly service, and price is right. We were there over St. Patrick's Day weekend, and still had no troubles getting a reservation. What's not to love?!?!?

The place is very nice especially when you sit outside on a cool summer evening. The food is OK - it's more or less the same Maxican fare you get in many other Mexican restaurants. The Guacamole with crispy tortilla chips was very good and so was the Margarita. Service was also good. This is a nice place to stop for after theater dinner but I would not go out of my way to come up here.

We waited patiently for Adobo Grill to open again after they burned down the restaurant over by Second City. Sadly the new location is not half as nice as the old one. Yes, they have significantly increased the outdoor space but we would eat there year round, not just for the fleeting summer months when patio dining is warranted. The new North Ave building is terribly cramped. Parties of 6 are stuffed into a table meant for 4 with 2 chairs pulled up at both ends. No more nice circular tables that we used to enjoy. The menu has been cut in half, likely as a result of their kitchen space being reduced. We had a good meal but the magic is gone.

This is a friendly restaurant with good food. However, it is VERY noisy. we asked for a quiet table, but my NIOSH SLM Noise measuring app on my iPhone Gave readings between 81 and 90 dB. In Europe, where I live, workplaces must provide ear protectors if noise levels are above 81 dB. It is also very tiresome to shout in order to communicate with dinner guests sitting 2 feet away. In summary, the food is great, but only go there with people you really don’t want to converse with.

In Chicago for the weekend and stopped here on a recommendation. Ordered the table side guacamole. Said it would be prepared at your table. It was brought to our table already prepared, it was very fresh and good. Ordered Chile Relleno, not bad but it was cold. Our other order was the red snapper Santa Cruz. It was excellent with sliced avocado on top.

We had a great experience. Not a good but not huge selection of food, but a good variety of dishes and based on what we ordered all fresh, well prepared and presented. The Tuna Ceviche was outstanding and quite the prettiest dish I have had in a while. Mexican fare can often be overpoweringly seasoned but everything here was in good balance and tasty. Alfonso our waiter was attentive, informative and helped make the evening better. NOTE that the restaurant is now located on North Avenue right across the street from Second City. Very close to the old location.

We stopped in to Adobo for dinner prior to heading to a Second City show. The hoses was very pleasant and quickly showed us to our table. Our waiter stopped by fairly quickly to drop the food and alcohol menus. He came back about 3 or 4 minutes later to ask if we had any questions, asked what we wanted to drink (we all just wanted waters) and asked if we wanted any appetizers (we said no). He left us at that point so we could finish looking over the menus and someone else on the staff brought us our waters. So far so good. We spent about 3 or 4 more minutes deciding what we each were going to order. The we waited. We sat for probably another 8 to 10 minutes and he never came back.....so we got up and left. We had to I. Order to ensure we had time to eat dinner before the show. The impression we all left with was.....since we were drinking....he thought his tip was going to be low so he didn't want to expend much effort. Needless to say....I will not be planning another visit to Adobo Grill next time I'm in Chicago

This quaint restaurant in Old Town is a gem. Guacamole made table side with fresh ingredients ...fantastic! (Although I ate too many chips to go with it !). My tacos were great too. Small but the staff was warm and welcoming. I would definitely go back.

Selected this restaurant because a friend and I were attending Second City. Food was great, margaritas were wonderful (especially the shake by the wait staff). Best part was the at table guacamole prep. Not too pricey.

We went here before seeing a Second City show since it was very close and got good reviews. The good reviews weren't wrong and tipped us off on the guacamole which was excellent, even for someone like me who doesn't normally eat guac. The margaritas were phenomenal as well, hand shaken with fresh juice over ice. I tried the pork loin with mole sauce and it was very good wrapped in the house made tortillas and dipped in more of the mole sauce. The rest of my family also stated that their meals were very good. The only downside of my meal was the rice which had corn and carrots in it that appeared to have come out of a bag or can. We off course had dessert and the churros came with two very tasty dipping sauces while the flan was flan. Bottom line: Delicious food (especially the guac), delicious margaritas, and great service make this a great stop if you are seeing a show at the Second City or are just in the area.

Adobo Grill is next door to Second City so it was very convenient for us to eat first and then see a comedy show. Definitely loved the made at the tableside guacaole so you know that it is fresh. The salsa was just ok, needed a bit more kick. I only wished that the tortilla chips were warmed up. The salad with the jicama and mango salad was very good. My main entree was the flank steak and it was cooked perfectly. Since they have a large side room, this restaurant is great for large groups. Service was excellent and our glasses were rarely empty.

We went to this restaurant 3 days in a row during our 7 day trip. Excellent service. Guac is made tableside. Ingredients are top notch -- ask and the staff will explain how dishes are made and what sets apart their preparation of the dish versus other experiences. Every dish we enjoyed had the perfect amount of heat.

Adobo is awesome. The food never disappoints. The guacamole is the best anywhere as are the margaritas. ( Often voted best in the city). The new spot has an incredible outdoor space. So glad it is back!

Recommended by our concierge at the Franklin, as a place close to the Second City Theater. Absolutely loved it! As others have said, the guacamole is excellent. All the tacos are very good. Service is outstanding!

We had tickets to the 2nd City Theatre, directly across the street. We were looking for a place to have a drink and bite to eat. This was an excellent choice! Alfonzo was our waiter and we couldn't have asked for better service. The food was authentic and exceptionally fresh. They make your guacamole fresh as you are seated. The outdoor seating is very nice and clean. I would highly recommend this place!!!

I have eaten at Adobo three times, each prior to attending Secmd City Improv which is next door. The tequila list is extensive. They make your guacamole fresh at your table. The entrees are excellent. This is our favorite Chciago restaurant,

Being from Texas, we know the difference between Tex-Mex & Mexican food. While Adobo had good food, it really wasn't good examples of either. The tamales (special of the day) needed softer, fresher masa/tastier filling and the poblano stuffed with steak had a soft, soggy crust----usually from sitting too long after cooking. Beans were served in a dry scoop with little flavor. The chips/salsa we ordered were really tasty with a variety of two salsas, pico de gallo, and sliced jicama. Staff was top-notch and very attentive. Just needs to seem "fresher" with more flavor.

A great little spot half a block from Second City. Tacos were excellent with many different meats to choose from. Guacamole made at your table was tasty too.

Very limited tequila drink menu. Tons of tequila to try but mixed tequila drinks very limited. Food was mediocre. Best thing was the guacamole. Staff was average. Maybe it was just one of those nights for them.

I've eaten a lot of ordinary Mexican food, and I'm happy to say, Adobo was not ordinary. The Chicharron de Pollo was really interesting and delicious. The Spicy Pepino cocktail is made with cucumber and fresh pineapple, with some serrano spice, and was a perfect blend of spice and sweet. I'm eating here again when I come back to Chicago!

Visited here while in Chicago wanting some Mexican fare, and was not disappointed. My wife and I were seated promptly on a Saturday night which was nice. We were immediately given water, a huge plus for me as I drink a lot of it. Speaking of, that gentleman filled my glass 6 times throughout the meal, he was great! We started with a couple margaritas and the fresh guac made table side, both of which were excellent. For the entree, I had the chicken enchilada and my wife had the shrimp tacos. We tried each other's and both were good. The portions were generous, but I was able to finish mine, and we had some leftover tacos. The service here was outstanding, I recommend Adobos for a relaxing meal in a casual atmosphere.

We went here before Second City with a large group and the restaurant was very accommodating. Great food, drinks, and service. Would love to go again if/when I return for my next visit.

Very friendly staff, good food, especially the guacamole prepared by the table. Good atmosphere. Only downside was the air conditioning which made it far too cold. Mentioned by several diners and nothing happened.

Ordered the table side guacamole, ceviche, Carne Asada, and tacos. Generous portions. This is more Latin, less “Mexican”. Outdoor seating. Tacos were our least favorite. Staff was very attentive.

This used to be my favorite place to get Mexican in the city. It suffered a fire and relocated around the corner and across the street from the original location. The new location has outdoor seating which is great. The food, has gone downhill since it's has moved which is unfortunate. I had my usual chicken enchiladas, and it was tasteless at best. Their guacamole was always one of the best. That was marginal as well. Perhaps it was an off night for the kitchen. I hope so because I have always loved adobo

Definitely try the Adobo margarita which is served in a martini glass. Tableside guacamole was excellent. We also split the watermelon salad and also split the special of the day. Highly recommend if you like modern mexican food. Chips and salsa homemade

A group of colleagues dined here family style for a set charge of $30 per head. The atmosphere is lovely, cheerful, and authentic. We started with appetizers then Jicama and mango salad, and the best guacamole ever - prepared fresh at the table. Tamales followed, then large platters of marinated roast beef, chicken and pulled pork, with ample rice and beans. Dessert was a delicious airy sponge cake so moist it was almost a mousse. The charge included one alcoholic drink each plus tea of coffee. Fantastic value. The waiters were very efficient and friendly and the cantina is on several levels and zoned so that it felt cozy and excessive noise was never an issue. Adobo is next door to Second City so we all had a wonderful evening of an excellent meal followed by an excellent show, all in very convivial circumstances. Given the frigid temperatures and snow outside Adobo warmed us all right through and raised our spirits. This will become a regular haunt any time I'm in Chicago. Highly recommended.

Not like the typical Mexican menu -- more American style Mexican. My husband ordered the steak since he is not a fan of typical Mexican food, and he said it was excellent. The guacamole and margarettas are the best. Nice decor and excellent service.

Stopped in for some table side guacamole and margaritas and this place was the BOMB! The food was fresh and the flavors were delicious. The servers and bartenders were friendly and the atmosphere was very nice. So glad we tried this place! Will defiantly be returning on our next trip to Chicago!

I think it has actually been longer since I've been to this restaurant, but I just have to leave a review since I have been thinking about it. Also a friend just visited and reminded me of how much we loved this place. I am so glad we found this little gem in Chicago Old Town. We were actually on a food tour and the guide pointed it out. He said they had the best margaritas and Mexican food in town if we wanted to stop by later. Being from Texas we were a bit skeptical... After the food tour you would think we would have been way too full to stop at this place but it was on the way back to our hotel. I am so glad we decided to stop! OMG! They were the best margaritas I have ever had in my life! We ordered the pineapple margs. I think we ended up having 3! All of the margaritas are made with fresh juice and a dancing "shake" from the wait staff! They were so friendly and enthusiastic. We also tried the guacamole that was made fresh tableside and was delicious as well. However, I can not say enough about the margaritas. You have to try them. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to go back!

An annual treat during our team migration to Chicago for a spring conference. Pork tacos with pineapple salsa were the bomb... and great margaritas! 🤪

I am extremely spoiled by being married to a beautiful Mexican woman, with that being said, I get the cuisine!!! It was good, but I have had better. In fairness though, if I had never tried or have it once and awhile, this would be the place to go. The lady who makes the guacamole is friendly and efficient...

The food is fresh and tasty. The margaritas are delicious. It is a bit noisy in the front of the restaurant. I sat in the back on a previous occasion and that area is quieter. The valet parking is $12.

Had a lovely time enjoying margaritas and their fresh guacamole . The margaritas are worth the trip. The meal was good not great but it's a great place for a drink and appetizers .

We visited Adobo Grill and had a great meal. The drinks were great -- an excellent mojito and marguerita which inevitably tasted like more!! The guacamole made at your table is just excellent with freshly made (and still warm) tortilla chips. Our mains were tasty and generous. The house special dessert (essentially a Mexican peach cobbler served with ice cream) was delicious. If you want a great Mexican meal, you can't go wrong at Adobo Grill.

The food was delicious. The table-side prepared guacamole was awesome. The drinks were awesome too. They have a great selection of gluten-free options and even made gluten-free chips for the table.

This Adobe Grill moved about a year ago to North Ave. But the food - especially the guacamole and margaritas (both made table side) are excellent. And the service is excellent too. A bit pricey but worth it.

The service here is great! The waiters are both fast, and funny in the jokes they’d entertain the table with. The food was very good, hot and with Vegetarian options too!

We picked this place based on TripAdvisor reviews and close proximity to Second City (right across the street) and were not disappointed! We called a couple hours ahead and they had no trouble accommodating our group. Good margaritas, table-side guacamole and entrees that pleased our carnivores and vegans.

All our dishes were not spicy, pleasantly presented, & delicious. The ceviche mixto $18. with octopus was mild. The carne Asada $26 was the hit. Salmon entree $23. was a tad fishy & served with very good small potatoes & green beans. The 3 enchiladas $17. was very good served with mash black beans.

We love Adobo Grill and should frequent it more often. We tend to go when we have tickets to Second City which is upstairs. The food and service is 5-star; the reason for my giving it four is the noise level is crazy high. If you are looking for a party, this is your spot. To be fare, last night was extra crazy as Chicago was celebrating St Patrick's day. We started with guacamole, the best in Chicago, made table-side served with house made corn chips. I had the shrimp dish which was huge in a delicious sauce. The pork tenderloin with mole sauce was a true standout, simply outstanding. Our friends, their first trip, loved the salmon and look forward to returning. Desserts are delicious The pineapple upside down cake was fantastic as was their Tres Leches. Very worth a visit. Always consistent.

The title says it all. Across the street from Second City, Adobo was recommended to us before a show. Everything was top notch, food, service and the price.

Excellent Mexican food with a modern twist. We always have an order of the Guacamole, it is a must with a bit of spice.

The food was once reviewed by a guest of mine who lived in Mexico City. His impression? "I had no idea Chicago offered such authentic Mexican food." I've traveled to Mexico many times and I can't argue with that. The food is delicious and the staff has a way of conveying another piece of Mexico: warmth. The service was friendly, prompt and warm. We don't dine often at Adobo because Mexican cuisine isn't at the top of our favorites list, but the experience and quality of the food at Adobo may change that.

We chose this restaurant because it was close to Second City (right next door). Neither of us are big fans of Mexican food, but we both enjoyed our meal here. As you walk into the restaurant, it's pretty loud, but we were able to get a table in a side room that was less noisy. If you want a quiet, romantic dinner, this place is not for you. If you want a good meal fast, this is a good choice.

Delicious salsa and guacamole. Pescado tacos were some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. Great service.

As former regulars of Adobo on Wells we have had an absence until tonight's treat at Adobo on North Avenue. While the menu has been streamlined, there are options for everyone. We started with the home made guacamole and chips which were superb, especially when accompanied by a Negra Modelo on draft. I enjoyed the excellent fish tacos and my wife had the chilli rennos . The Modelo Especial was lighter than the Negra but also good. We sat outside, with a nice breeze, and also had very good and attentive service from Luis L. If you are in the hood and want Mexican food in an upbeat relaxing atmosphere, ADOBO is the place to go.

Try to sit outside or have a drink at the outside bar. It's a great patio that isn't right on the street. Strong drinks, had a mojito, but heard the margaritas were very good. We had guac and chips, salsa, salad, salmon and a very delicious chocolate flourless cake for dessert that was served in a leaf. I definitely recommend the cake. Attentive servers, nice atmosphere, good for big groups or really anyone. I enjoyed it. Only downside was that with our big group it was very loud and hard to hear anyone talking.

It's been a while since we've dined here and after the fabulous feast we enjoyed tonight we wonder why we don't come here more often. Of course the star of the show is the table side prepared guacamole but we also enjoyed the homemade tamales and the pork tenderloin with marvelous mole. Ole!

Love this place! Been here several times with no issues! Delicious drinks too. If you get the margaritas, add a smokey tequila shot... It gives a good kick. One drink had be a solid buzz for an hour. Maybe it was a low tolerance day for me ;) Fajitas and quesadillas are good here! Guacamole is delicious too!

Adobo Grill. The food is upscale Mexican, the decor too. I had the grilled shrimp and it was excellent. My friend had the pork tenderloin. It looked so good I am tempted to return tonight to order it. They made a nice bowl of guacamole right at the table. We asked for spicy, but it was actually mild. Catering to American taste, I assume. Nevertheless it was good. The service was outstanding. It is a noisy restaurant, not very conversation friendly, but they made up for with everything else.

What a sweet little "different" Mexican restaurant with EXCELLENT food, drinks, and service! And get this---I'm by no means a guacamole freak, but I even devoured the delicious guac! Splurge and enjoy a pitcher of Sangria too, as it goes great with the chips/salsa/guac. So many great menu items...we selected the pork/pineapple tacos...WONDERFUL, btw!!! Mmmmm! What a treat this restaurant is!!! And again, the service was super---such a friendly and attentive wait staff!

We liked Adobo Grill a lot. Food was very tasty and we found the menu interesting and original. My margarita was pretty good too. Ambiance is a bit flat but overall we were happy with our dinning experience.

We started with a mojito, which was good but could have been better The guacamole was made by the table and you could choose the ingredients and how hot you wanted it. Very delicious. I had fish tacos and the fish was fresh and tasty Can be recommended

Not your average Mexican restaurant! Order the guacamole which is prepared table side. Great drink selection and the menu has interesting entrees to choose from. Ask questions as our server was very helpful and knowledgable. Options for kids could have been better but the do have a kids menu

Drinks are great and the food holds up. A good option for the immediate area. No complaints at all. I enjoyed both times I have been here.

I highly recommend a visit to Adobo Grill! We ate here before a show at The Second City next door, and it was a great experience. The server was prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious! The chicken enchiladas had a nice balance of heat and flavor -- not too spicy, but definitely not bland (and the black beans that came with the dish were amazing!). I'm sure you'll want to order a margarita - theirs has the perfect combination of tequila and lime!

Food was great, service was excellent. Great margaritas and guacamole! I would definitely like to return.

We've used to come to Adobo for years but then we moved away. We returned after a year (plus!) and found the restaurant even better than we remembered it: excellent food, great service and as always a beautiful space. Carlos and Ernesto were still there at the bar (amazing in a fast paced city with lots of options); they remembered our names and even where we had moved! The food was even better than we remembered - just like the food I ate when I lived in Mexico City - delicious and attractively presented. An amazing array of mescal options, and people who know the differences. A night to remember on many fronts.

We didn't get past the appetizers; they were enough. The shrimp taquitos and the queso were top notch. The guacamole was also terrific, but the portion is really too large for one couple. But best of all were the Adobo Margaritas with Mescal floaters - the perfect combination lime juice, sugar and tequila.

My husband and I and our good friend immediately loved this place! The inside has beautiful color and awesome artwork and the outdoor area has sun and shade, lovely foliage, and some really cool art on the building wall. We stopped in after an afternoon play and were able to enjoy the people-watching and the setting sun! We began with Adobo margaritas and their guacamole. Excellent "no-frills" margaritas and very fresh, plentiful guac. We all shared some tuna ceviche, tacos al pastor (made with spicy pork, fresh avocadoes, and an amazing pineapple/mango salsa) and the boys wanted chicken enchiladas. Of course too much but soooo good! We lingered over more margaritas and our server Alejandro never missed a beat or rushed us. This I loved! Great location, great service and really good food. What more could you want? Definitely will return

Adobo Grill moved from Wells to North Avenue right around the corner after a fire, and I’m so glad they did. The new locations actually better with an outdoor garden for seating. And the food and drinks are still outstanding. The margaritas are amazing and the guacamole custom-made table-side is absolutely delicious. The entrees are great as well. And the service is excellent. I love this place.

Guacamole prepared tableside with fresh ingredients is reason enough for return trip to this restaurant. I had the carne asada and it was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The place is very loud and the service fast. Exactly what the doctor ordered if you are going to a second city show like we were. This is not a romantic place but it is a place to get good fresh mexican food for a decent price.

This is my favourite Mexican restaurant in Chicago. We've been three times now. The guacamole is to die for, made right at your table. The margaritas are delicious. The food is always tasty, and everything is reasonably priced. Located in Old Town, it is right next to Second City and a number of interesting shops.

Sunday Brunch at Adobo Grill was the perfect cap to our Chicago girls weekend. Great coffee which we needed after a night on the town. This was a great little spot. I highly recommend if you find yourself in Old Town.

The tableside freshly made guacamole starter is a fun gimmick and is very tasty (can be seasoned to your preference). The menu has great variety and includes items off the beaten Mexican path, as well as old favorites. Portions are generous and flavorful. Have a margarita--they don't do frozen, but they shake it up right in front of you and it is good!

Great location by Second City, easy walking distance to lots of bars and public transportation so you can park your car and still get around easily. A fun place with good food.

and were soon singing the praises of this sweet little restaurant! The guac was great, the chips were served crispy and warm (as they should be), our waiter was attentive and friendly, and the Salmon Ceviche was possibly the best ceviche I have ever had, which is saying sumthin! The reason I only gave 4 stars is that the margaritas were a little on the sweet side rather than dry and tangy, and the husband said the chopped salad was just "OK".

Great dinner before the second city show. there were 6 of us, but we were seated in no time at all. Great guacamole. Would return.

Really good mexican food, the place is nice, service was excellent, the waiters are friendly and quick! We try tacos, enchiladas and tortilla chips, the guacamole is prepared on your table, so is fresh and spicy. We really have and excellent dinner!!

Adobo has a friendly staff and offers average Mexican fare. The location is immediately next to Second City which is convenient, but there are also better options nearby.

We had dinner here with friends in late August. Overall, we give the food high marks - the fish tacos were really good. Drinks were average (margaritas and a mango combo drink of some sort). Guacamole was also good but the menu touts it as freshly prepared at your table, which sounded interesting. However, a bowl was delivered with no fanfare. After meal coffee was $10 per cup - we will skip that next time.

We sampled the prix-fixe menu during Restaurant Week. Entrees included grilled salmon with a light, spicy sauce, enchiladas in mole sauce, and marinated carne asada. Everything was excelllent!

We fell in without a reservation and were given a table with excellent service by Madelyn. The guacamole and chips and the cheese enchiladas en mole were fantastic and had great eye appeal . The chef Gabi( I believe) has upped his game. This is not only a fall in place but now a Destination!

My husband and I were visiting Chicago for two nights and happened to find this place because it was close to the L and Up Comedy Club. We arrived early enough to get happy hour and we were very happy we got here in time! $2 chicken tacos (amazing!) and $2 Tecate beers. The bartender was friendly and came over right away. The food was excellent as well. If we lived in the area we would definitely be here on a regular basis. The bartender told us they have a different taco on happy hour every day. We even considered going back the next night after our great experience.

$2 tacos and $2 Tecates from 4-6 PM. Great deal. Sit on the patio on a warm day. The wait staff is a little unsmiling, but so what.

I took my spouse to Adobo Grill to celebrate his birthday. The place looked eerily familiar as we had been there when it was an Italian restaurant. The patio was very comfortable on a perfect late summer night. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very good except for the tuna ceviche. The freshly made guacamole was delicious. The chips and salsa and the enchiladas were good. The ceviche was not authentic at all. It was not bad tasting but it tasted more as Asian fusion food than a Mexican ceviche. The chips that came with the ceviche were not fresh either. I would not order this again but I would return for the rest of the food. Last, the margaritas were freshly made and tasted very good; however, they were small in size.

I start out admitting that my review is based more on the service than the food. Never have I felt so much pressure to order more food & drink. We were on our way to a performance at Second City & this is the ideal location for that. Our server, Miguel, was constantly coming over & asking if we wanted appetizers, more drinks, dessert... When he got a, "We're fine", his displeasure was obvious. I don't really remember that much about the entrees because I was so fed up with the service.

We came here before our team building event at Second City, and they were very accommodating! We were seated quickly, the guacamole arrived quickly as well! It was GREAT, by the way! Their team got us set quickly and got us in and out before our show with no hiccups. Fun night!

We walked around Old Town and checked out menus before deciding on Adobo Grill. It was Friday night and the place was packed. Fortunately, we did not have to wait long to be seated. We ordered their "famous guacamole" and devoured it. It is made fresh at your table side and served with warm tortilla chips. The El pastor tacos did not disappoint-chunks of chipotle rubbed pork, cilantro, grilled pineapple, pico, and more avocado:) The retried black beans were seasoned perfectly as was the rice. We would definitely return if we're ever back in Old Town Chicago.

Best guacamole ever. Delicious wine and Margaretas. Really nice friendly and efficient staff. One of our favourite meals we've had in chigaco. Recommend highly!

Went to this restaurant prior to seeing a Second City show. Excellent service and very good food. They were very accommodating to get us out in time for the show.

Excellent service and a varied menu. They make the guacamole at your table to order. Try the Gorditas and crevices.

This place is delicious. The guacamole is made infront of you! The blackened Tuna was perfect. It can get a little loud inside.
Great real Mexican food
The drinks were top notch. The food was great. Wonderful restaurant right by second city. We had the tacos. All have a sweet fruit added to give a great taste.
