Average food we each had different taco platters and only one of us thought their order was good. The winner fish tacos. The service seemed good, but our server was very slow and got my wife's order wrong.

This has become a regular place for me, what with their excellent food and strong margaritas (order El Jefe, you only need one, don't let the price scare you). They use top quality tequila in it (you can even specify if you order at the bar). Lively and cheerful ambience, a huge patio for when the weather is nice, and the live music on weekend nights, brings me back again and again. Service always friendly, if a little erratic. Highly recommend the Carne Estila Ajuua, a nice combo of a tender fajita steak with poblano cream sauce, chicken enchilada with chipotle cream sauce, and a yummy spring mix salad topped with guacamole and a tasty, unique, sweet vinaigrette. Waiter once recommended the beef enchiladas with the poblano cream sauce, and though I was skeptical since I'm not big on ground beef enchiladas , it did not disappoint! Also love the shrimp tacos, and I appreciate that they will do them a la carte when I don't want a big meal.

If you crave margaritas, this place has a plethora! Italian margarita? Mango? Frozen or rocks? There must have been 15 flavors. The food was top notch as well. The chicken stuffed poblano was topped with a tasty creamy white sauce. Even the bean & cheese nachos were perfect with a scoop of guacamole and jalapeños on the side. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.

We had a great experience here. I had "Rob's Enchiladas" and they were absolutely amazing!!! Wow!! I will get those again. The chips and salsa was mediocre but everything else was fantastic. Highly recommend this place. My wife had the stuffed poblano pepper and she loved it.

My husband & I stopped here on the way from the airport to our hotel for a long weekend. A friend of ours from SA recommended this place so we had high expectations. This place did not disappoint! From perfectly cooked, fluffy rice to a wide variety of enchilada sauces to choose from to very reasonably priced drinks, we loved it all! The service was top-notch. This place will definitely be on our restaurant "hot list" for our next trip!

I am moving from San Antonio, so my coworkers took me to a restaurant of my choice. I picked Ajuua. I love this place! I've been several times for both lunch and dinner, and it was always a winner. Prices are very reasonable (lunch $8-10, dinner a little bit more). The margaritas are good. Portions are generous. My favorite is the Big Shot Burrito wth Chipotle Cream sauce. Actually, I'm pretty sure an old shoe with their Chipotle Cream sauce would be good. I've always had good service. Ajuua is at the top of the list of things I am going to miss about San Antonio.

We had lunch there, it's a bright lively place located at the end of a small strip mall. My wife ordered fish tacos, and I ordered the Mexican plate. They serve great thick queso, but the salsa is thin and not imposing. We also tried their Guacamole sauce, it wasn't bad. When our order arrived, my wife noticed that the fish tacos had morphed into chili lime Tilapia, not fish tacos. Our server seemed unconcerned that he had messed up. My Mexican plate was very tasty. Except for the bungled order, and no attempt to rectify, this isn't a bad place.

There are not enough words to describe our journey here. We were welcomed very warmly and the server appeared immediately and took our drink order. Menu was quite extensive and food was delicious to say the least. Certainly not diet portions! Would we go again? Sure would.

Wife and Daughter in law ate today. Chicken Salad with Salsa, wife had Cheese Enchilada and rice and refried beans. The salsa is warm and perfect. Great atmosphere, good service. Flavor was perfect. Wife says GREAT MEXICAN........NOT TEX-MEX.

Love the bright colors here. Very loud and hard to carry on a conversation. The food was okay, not great. Service was okay for our crowd of 10 people. Overall...I’d give it a C+.

The first reason to come to Ajuua is the best pozole in town. Second best if mine is in the running but still very, very good. It has the best balance of savory rich spice and tender meaty flavor. The second reason is the chicken tinga torta. Ajuua has the best Tortas in San Antonio and the chicken tinga is my choice when I go. Slightly spicy chicken and creamy avocado on a perfectly toasted bun. This is easily the best "soup and sandwich " in town. I take out of town guests to experience a different type of Mexican food that they are not likely to find on this side of the border.

Some of the best enchiladas I have had in a very long time - I think it was the Chipotle Creme sauce instead of the standard cheese, chili, red or green sauce. I had one beef and one chicken enchilada. I preferred the shredded chicken breast to the seasoned ground beef but both were very good. I will definitely return and order again!

We have eaten here a few times now and will probably go back during our few months stay here. The salsa is unique and the chips homemade. Of the items we have tried, we especially like the fish tacos. The help is always friendly and the restaurant is clean. Nice atmosphere for a strip mall location.

We were on our way back downtown after a day at Six Flags when we found this friendly spot. The staff was friendly and the food and atmosphere seemed authentic. Everything was prompt and delicious. There was even a couple performing music table side. We would definitely return if we visit the are again!

Ajuua used to be excellent, with unique Mexican dishes. Most of the unique items have disappeared from the menu, and it's becoming just another Tex-Mex place. While the few fish dishes are still good, as are the drinks, the food quality seems to be steadily slipping. Their beef and pork dishes, particularly the guisada (sause) items, used to be well trimmed and lean. Now, there are fatty pieces throughout. It's really unfortunate.

Ajuua has a great buffet style brunch for Sunday brunch. Lots to choose from covering salads, soups, scrambled eggs, chorizo, bacon, sausage, flautas, enchiladas, pancakes and more. Warm tortillas as well. They also make great mimosas if you are inclined. Have been coming here for years either for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch and it has never disappointed me.

We've been to Ajuua dozens of times since moving to SA, and keep coming back for the delicious fajitas and amazing variety of enchilada sauces! They have load of options and our kids love it too. Best refried beans I've had outside of Southern California. Hands down. Bottom line: We love it! We'll continue to make the drive up to Ajuua. It's worth it every single time.

If you have read any of my reviews- you know I look for places where there is a crowd. Well this one has it and for good reason. In my effort to make a Uturn to get back to a Saltgrass I saw this place and thought what the heck - I love Tex-Mex I’ll give it a try. This place is packed! But I make my way to bar seating since I’m solo and was greeted quickly and order taken. I was served their complementary chips and home made salsa. Wow! Truly the best. I ordered chicken enchiladas and decided to try one each of their homemade sauces. Again Wow! I don’t often give 5 Stars but this one is very deserving. When in San Antonio- be sure to put this one on your Bucket List! You can’t go wrong here!

Tried for the first time. A nice brunch with a good price. A variety of Mexican food dishes. My daughter loved the pancakes. Everyone was able to enjoy the meal.

Ajuua has a great Sunday Brunch! Have taken friends and family there and they all love it. Margarita's are great too when meeting up with friends.

The food was delicious. The hostess and server were friendly and attentive. Did I mention the amazing food??! This will be on the must visit next time we are in the area!!!

Have wanted to try this place for years but was never on this side of town. We went in around 4:30 pm on a Friday and it was not busy at all, no wait time whatsoever and was immediately seated. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. The chips and salsa were good, which the salsa had a little more heat to but, but it was good none the less. y wife had the shredded chicken enchiladas and she liked it. I went with the crispy tacos and was surprised at the size of them! These were twice the size of the regular crispy tacos at other restaurants. They tasted great! Would definitely order again. We're going to try to put this on our rotation of restaurants to go to.

We love Ajuua! The service is always great! The drinks are strong (the Italian margarita is amazing!!) And the food is always delicious! Definitely our go to spot for dinner when I'm craving Mexican food!!

We went to Ajua on a Sunday. They do not serve chips and salsa with their meal. A tex-mex restaurant that doesn't serve chips and salsa is like an Italian restaurant that doesn't serve spaghetti. Joke. As a tex-mex restaurant connoisseur, I will forgive mediocre food if they have have good chips and salsa. This place can't even be considered a tex-mex place. If they had zero star ratings, that would be my rating.

Fun little spot with good margaritas. Indoor and outdoor seating available, and a very attentive staff.

The food is good and there is a great variety. They had no problem accommodating a big group (we started with 8) and did not miss beat when we added 2 more. The staff got everything right with all the plated getting to the person that order it. All this and then the drinks, WOW I always get the Ranger (yum), but my friends do the margaritas and they love them.

Ajuua has a great menu and I especially like their fish tacos. A lot of variety and the staff is very cordial and has customers in mind.

We have been before but one of our sons hadn't. We were all very satisfied with the food as well as the service.

We live right down the road and usually went once a week. Sadly, in particular the food degraded heavily over time. Now it either a hit with good above-average Mexican food or it is pretty much something I send back to the kitchen after the first bite. I also got involuntary substitutions twice in a row: instead of the steak with Mac n' Cheese and steamed veggies, I go rice and beans. Twice. Once, I ordered the beef steak and got chicken instead. No explanation, no mention, just food I have not ordered on the table. My wife had much more luck, though. She loves the Shrimp Tacos and, according to her, those have never let her down. I guess her luck is way better than mine. The service is still nice and friendly but slowly going south as well. However, sometimes it is pretty hard to track down your waiter although the restaurant is not that big. Furthermore, it slowly morphs into a bar-like establishment in which food is just an extra. That means that many tables are occupied by fairly vocal groups and that may impact your experience eating. The drinks are another story though. Reasonably priced, quickly made, and very tasty. We now go just to have a quick drink.

This was the 5th time I've at at Ajuua's, and every time the food has been excellent! Margaritas were very good especially the top shelf and skinny margaritas. The beef fajitas were pull apart tender and well seasoned. Good chips, guacamole, sauce, pico de gallo. The Boraccho beans were excellent! My only complaint is the noise level inside as sounds bounce off the wall. Especially bad on Friday nights during happy hour. We sat outside this time and it was pleasant in the 98 degree weather because of the shade, fans, and misting fans. I look forward to my next visit.

My last day on an emergency trip, my brother turns into a smaller strip mall, in Northwest San Antonio. I'm no stranger to 'off-the-beaten-path' restaurants, so I'm willing to try it out. This superb, authentic joint hit the spot! Our server was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, made suggestions and was sincere. I had the Dos-arita... HUGE (all of the portions were rather large)! 32 oz of Dos Equis and margarita. I did not finish 1/4th of it, but it was delicious. Also had the chicken tinga gorditas, had enough to take home and munch on later. We ordered desert to go, was not overly impressed with the cheesecake chimichangas but they weren't awful either. A pleasant way to end a last minute trip to San Antonio!

Ajuua always a great time! Reserved the small room for family of 20… including a few kids. Staff was friendly and very efficient! We never lacked for anything. Food was delish… drinks were on point too! Desserts were great too! YUMMMMM Unfortunately I was soooo hungry, I forgot to take pics of our meals… but I did get the Chocolate Cheesecake!

WOW, this place has great food! It's a brunch buffet with all kinds of goods stuff. They have so many choices (barbacoa, pozole, pasta, eggs bacon tacos, vanilla/cinnamon pancakes), and SO much more. You'll leave this place very pleased! This is a place you can't miss out on if you ever visit the San Antonio area. Great for parties, they have a private room that will fit a big party very comfortably.

We recently discovered Ajuua for Sunday brunch. There are so many good things to try on the buffet that we had to go back three times to taste it all. They have ample seating on the outside patio and brunch drink specials too. The service is great, too.

Finding good Mexican food in a city known for it's good Mexican food is a problem in and of itself. We found a lovely little Mexican Grill with an outdoor patio. The fish tacos were delicious and came with the slice of avocado. In addition, the chipotle cream that came with it was passed around the table numerous times to finish off the chips. The Picaddillo enchiladas tasted authentic and you must try the stuffed poblano with chicken.

I should have known how it was going to be when we sat at the hostess station for over 5 minutes and never saw a waiter or hostess. We ordered Cheese Enchiladas. I had the Poblano Cream and my wife had the Chipotle Cream. The portions were large and very good. the chips and salsa were average. But the service, aargh... There were fewer than 6 or 7 tables with customers and at least 3 wait staff. It took nearly 20 minutes for us to receive our enchiladas, but we know that those are among the easiest and fastest to prepare, with one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, Papa Nacho's, regularly serving their Enchiladas Chipotle in less than 10 minutes, even on busy Friday nights. We ran out of water, tea and wine several times and had to wait upwards of 10 minutes between empty glasses. In summary, the food is pretty darn good, but not worth the poor service.

Although I have not been there since I moved to Seguin over a year ago, I am so glad that Ajuua! survived the Pandemic. This is a favorite place to take family members since 2010. The food is wonderful, the drinks are delicious, the Sunday Brunches were always wonderful, etc. Highly recommended!

My SIL and I have been several times. In addition to the excellant food, there is plenty of outdoor seating, so we can take off our masks and relax! With so many Mexican restaurants in San Antonio, we certainly have a choice! But knowing that Ajuua has top-level food and service brings us back time and time again.

I had not been here in a long time and talked a friend into going. The place was very busy so we sat at a table in the bar. We were waited on promptly and ordered a couple of happy hour beers. Chips and salsa are very good. I had the chicken fajita taco plate which included two fajitas stuffed with white meat chicken, borracho beans, rice, pics and guacamole. I loved it and couldn't finish it all. But the place was so horribly noisy! There were large parties, piped in music, and mariachis competing with all of that. It was hard to talk and enjoy the meal. I'd go back during a less busy time.

Enjoyed our dinner. A tad cold actually in the restaurant as it had rained earlier making room cooler. Our waiter was a bit inattentive as he put food before us, quickly walking away not asking if we needed refills tortillas etc. Setting that aside several items were ordered and all were delicious. Delectable chicken relleno and love the Ajuua ensalada with poppyseed dressing

I had seafood tacos.. It was really good. It was custom made. I asked for small portion and they were willing to do it for me. YUM YUM.. The hostess was not really warm at all. Very Business like.. The waiter was GREAT. Very friendly guy! This made my evening!

We love the sangria and sitting on the porch when it is not too hot! The fish and shrimp tacos are great. Wish. I knew what was in that special dipping sauce!

My husband noticed the waiter to joyful and happy off the bat. The food was excellently prepared. The ambiance is jovial and festive with the banners handing from the ceiling. It is tastefully decorated and has a party room, too! There is outdoor seating and has a bar. We went on a Sunday and they have an all you can eat for $11.00. We didn't partake in that, however, I took a peek and there was a wide selection of food. I would definitely go there again.

We were in town for a family wedding, and the rehearsal supper was here, AND we ate here the day before (just my husband and I) for lunch. All was very, very good. Bloody Mary was good, and all our food was excellent.

Decent Mexican food with some good sauces. The do have a few great Margaritas for a decent but only during happy hour. Definitely worth a try, but parking issues when they are busy may require you to park near Vance Jackson.

We arrived at 5:45 on 26th to find that all the handicapped parking places were taken so we had to park at the end. One place was taken by a van that was owned by Ajuua right at the front door. It had Ajuua written on it along with phone number and other identifying information. I asked to speak to the manager who used the flimsy excuse that the sign was gone. Wait a minute! The handicapped sign was painted in boxcar letters clearly on the pavement and don't tell me that the employee who parked the van didn't know it. He said he would move it right away.. That meant 20 minutes whilst other handicapped people were denied space. He took it all lightly And comped my dinner, one enchilada, nothing else, for $7.50. I am usually happy with the food and have been there since it opened. Another point we have never been offered coffee and dessert except one one time.

We chose this restaurant for something new. The service was efficient and friendly. The presentation of the food was good and the waiter was very attentive. The portions were adequate for the price. My picky 15 year old actually liked the fajitas:). We will try this restaurant again.

My husband and I come to this place frequently specially on happy hour time which ends on 7:30 p.m. They offer a great strong Margaritas for a fair price on happy hour. I also like the hot chips they bring to table with delicious salsa. Enchiladas are tasty with different sauces. I think meat sauce might be our favorite so far. Fajitas are tasty. This place has a nice lovely patio area which sometimes has live music too. It can get real noisy during birthday events though. They also have a tasty brunch (all you can eat for like $12) on Sunday mornings till 3:00 pm I believe . Drinks are not included though if you like mimosas or coffee . i totally recommend this place. The only thing I don't like is that it can get really crowded and might be a waiting line.

The best, strongest margaritas in town. Beef fajitas are great and the fish tacos are some my favorite. Fernando is one of friendliest bartenders around.

Very good food. Their nachos are delicious! Good service always! Prices are fair. Sunday brunch is a ton of food, nummy! Again we have never had bad service here.

My wife and I were visiting San Antonio, staying at a friend's apartment literally blocks from Ajuua, and after getting Mexican take-out from further away places, decided to give Ajuua a try, without consulting the internet. So, we showed up on a warm Wednesday evening, were asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, and opted for outside. The restaurant is huge! From the front, it looks a bit like a store front, but don't be deceived. The back patio is also large, and is the perfect venue to sip a cerveza and dine. We weren't very hungry this visit, so decided against the more sumptuous menu offerings, although we watched others having them, and they looked great! We ordered a guacamole en molcajete, prepared by our waiter at table side, and a chile roasted poblano. The guacamole was good, although we prefer it with more tomatoes. We were half-expecting our poblano to resemble a chile relleno (which we love) but were pleasantly surprised by a non-breaded roasted poblano pepper stuffed with shredded chicken, with melted Mexican white cheese and a cilantro cream sauce. It came with rice that had some corn that perfectly accompanied the poblano. Portions were generous; we wound up taking half our guacamole home. We'll be coming back lots; can't wait to try their other dishes.

Fantastic food and good service. I have periodic business lunches here. It is a favorite of several clients.

Don't even think about coming here for happy hour with a large group of people. Some fellow co-workers and me stopped by here after work due to its proximity to our office. We had always heard great things about the happy hour here and how great the prices were. Boy, were we wrong! While our waiter, Señor Jorge started out being a lot of fun, once it was time to have everyone pay their tabs the attitude changed. When we got our bill, not only were we shocked about the prices but they also charged us for three extra drinks. There is nothing happy about the happy hour here. $10.50 for a margarita is not a happy hour price! I can go to any other upscale restaurant in San Antonio and have a beautiful handcrafted cocktail for half that price at happy hour. I figured there couldn't be much they could do about the price of the drink but as for the 3 extra drinks they charged us for, i figured they could just remove that from our bill like any other reputable restaurant would do. We were wrong.... When i asked Senior Jorge, our waiter, about this he said I was mistaken and that we drank those drinks. I corrected him and said that there was not way in the world we could have had those drinks or we would be passed out on the floor. He said that was too bad and "he had nowhere else to put those drinks" so we need to pay for them. He said if we had a problem, we can speak to the manager. When the manager came over, I didn't catch his name, he said Senior Jorge never makes mistakes and those drinks are ours. After being adamant about it, he said he would remove one of the drinks and the waiter said he would pay for the other. This still left me with one extra drink to pay for. This was not a negotiation. All of the drinks that I did not order should have been removed. On top of that, since we were a large group, the gratuity was automatically added on. Not only did they make me pay for a drink that wasn't mine but I was forced to pay an unreasonable high tip I would never have paid. Please be warned too, the restaurant "hand writes" the prices on their drink menu so they will change them often depending on how they feel. Never will I go or recommend this place to any of my family or co-workers again. Be prepared to be ripped off!!

We ate at the Sunday buffet and it was not great - not bad, but just OK. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. I have been there previously, not for the buffet, and the food was very good. I do not think the quality of the food at the buffet was up to their standard.

Ajuua is located in a modest strip center in Northwest San Antonio, somewhat off the beaten path. My wife gets her hair done next door and her trusted hair dresser mentioned that the shrimp tacos were pretty good there, so we decided to give it a try on a Saturday evening. We arrived around 9 (their website says they close at 10:30 on Fridays and Saturdays) but there was no one at the awkward-looking, make-shift, tiny receptionist area. We stood around trying to understand what they were trying to convey regarding their menu on the cheap-looking white board on the wall until the manager happened by and assisted us to a small table, all the while looking around for whoever was supposed to be doing the hosting. Not the best of starts. The table has a nice cloth table cloth, but, it was entirely covered by a sheet of butcher paper, much like you'f find at a back-country Texas Bar-B-Que joint. Soon a very nice lady came by and introduced herself as our server and printed her name out on the butcher paper - I guess just in case we forget her name or something. A minor oversight, perhaps, but we had no napkins or eating utensils and had to ask for them after our food arrived at the table. At least the napkins weren't paper and the flatware wasn't plastic to go with the butcher paper. The decor of the dining area where we were seated could be described as darkly colorful with homemade-looking half walls placed in awkward spots. Obviously, this was originally a large, open retail space - I'd say a second-hand retail store - that needed something to keep it from looking like a high school cafeteria. So, someone grabed some plywood, some nails and some paint and there you have it. Well, at least it doesn't looking-like a second-hand retail store or high school cafeteria any longer even if not much else can be said for the decor. We didn't go to the patio area, but I have walked by it many times and it appears comfortable enough with a number of beach umbrellas and a great view of the busy parking lot in one direction and a not-so-nice view of an un-landscaped (read, trashy-looking) creek bed in the other My wife ordered the recommended, but rather pricey, shrimp tacos and I opted for a half-order of nachos. We both ordered tortilla soup as well. My wife commented that the shrimp tacos were very tasty and the soup was too. She was quite happy with her meal. Me too. Although there were only four hand-built nachos to the half order, they were presented well with small dishes of sliced jalapenos and guacamole on the side. The guacamole was rather bland, but at least it was made on premises and fresh. The tortilla soup was a bit salty, but made up for the complete lack of salt on the tortilla chips that came with the drink order. If you're looking for upscale TexMex, there are plenty of spots in San Antonio that fit the bill more effectively and than Ayuua. And if you're looking for a TexMex hole in the wall with yummy food and rock bottom prices, there are dozens of mom and pop spots that meet that description. I guess there's a place somewhere in between where Ayuua fits. Bottom line: The sort of awkward but friendly service you'd expect from a mom and pop spot. The sort of food that is good, but not so good that it can command up-scale prices. The sort of ambiance you'd expect from a back yard do-it-yourselfer. Definitely not at the top of my destination restaurants.

Just so so food in a city with lots of mediocre food!

Ajuua has the best Pozole. The spice is perfect and the pork is tender. The chicken tinga torta is a great accompaniment to the Pozole. Service can be slow and the restaurant can get loud but the food is great.

This was my first time at this location!! I absolutely loved everything about it! My only complaint is how dark it can be inside, making it difficult to see the delicious food! Overall, the food was delicious, the beans were authentic. The margaritas were chilly, flavorful, and strong!! The food was savory and seasoned very well! The picture below is of their fish tacos (subbed refried beans for “borracho” beans). Perfection in a plate!! I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. One of my new faves for sure!

Boss took the department here for our annual holiday dinner. Drink menu looked very good although I did not imbibe. Menu typical for Mexican in San Antonio and reasonably priced. I had chalupas that were very large and I took one home (there were two on the plate). Guacamole appetizer was excellent with chunks of avacado. All in all, a good place to go. Plenty of good places to go in San Antonio, however, so did not really stand out.

Like many San Antonio restaurants the noise level here is extremely high. Dining room is nicely laid out, clean and inviting. Service is usually good, but can be spotty. Made the mistake of going on a Sunday afternoon. Only choice was the Tex-Mex buffet. By the time I got there it was picked over and had not been replenished, and what was there was dried out and not very appetizing. Weekday nights are a much better choice of time to go. The drinks are good.

2 of us enjoyed dinner here at Ajuua and we will definitely return. The service from the Host, Server and Manager was beyond expectation. They all welcomed us with smiles and the Server although busy ensured she did not neglect us. I would suggest that if you are local or not, stop by here and enjoy when possible.

My wife had eaten there before and she suggested I try it. It was Sunday so they had Sunday Brunch. Very average. It may have been better had I had a Mojito or other beverage. Sticking to the menu may be better but with the Brunch priced the same as the menu items it is tempting. I ate too much and it wasn't very flavorful. A double mistake.

We were immediately seated and had our drink order taken. The staff are all very nice. The food is pricey for the portion size, however. I ordered the Cuban torta and was disappointed that it was not very full. It tasted great! Just needed more filling. A barbacoa torta option would be nice, too. The drinks were also good (white sangria, cucumber mojito, margarita). Can't wait to go back and try more!

Growing up in San Antonio, I've had my share of excellent Mexican food. Although I've moved away, I make it home from time to time. What made this restaurant unique was the cilantro sauce. Excellent!!! I had the roast poblano pepper with cilantro. Stuffed with so much chicken, I couldn't finish it!!!

Okay, I've been a customer at Ajuua when it first opened and it was pretty good food back then. It's been alittle over 10yrs since my return. Menu has changed abit, but man, the skirt steak was extremely tender and flavorful. I've had skirt steaks from all places from Puerto Rico which was pretty far good, Caymans, Turks, Mexico and even stateside. What a shocker! Not to offend, but wow! Customers with loose fitting dentures could eat the fajitas and steak without use of adhesives! I'm just saying... Anyways it's a friendly atmosphere and perfect proportions for good food and when you are hungry. Even for those who have two stomachs, you will be sure to leave satisfied.

Saeturday night. We ordered taco salad, veggie tacos, and beef tacos. All were average. Service was fairly attentive. Parking isn't a problem. A decent place if you're in the area.

I love their michelada. Just the way I make them. I also like their lunch plates. Great service and good food.

Not to bad of a place. I noticed people gather there for happy hour. I had the chicken fajita quesadilla, loaded with chicken and white cheese, tasty but I needed more of a flavorful dipping sauce. The bean and cheese tacos were big and tasty. My mom had the puffy tacos, rice, beans, she felt the food needed more salt and spice to it, too bland for her. Servers are attentive, restaurant looked cleaned, the highchair needed cleaning before putting child in it and one of our seats had spilled food on it. I recommend the manager let staff know that seats, chairs, highchairs all need to be cleaned after each customer.

Meet some friends here while in town. We used to meet here after work. Foods good, service is good, and drinks are strong. I enjoy this place!

My husband and I came to Ajuua on a recommendation and we absolutely loved our visit. Our waiter recommended Fish Tacos for me, and my husband chose the Cuban Sandwich, and we both enjoyed our meal very much. No bells and whistles, just good food. I highly recommend it.

The service and food was good. In fact , our server was excellent, However aeated next to us were two girls, each with a huge dog of their own. It was clear they were not service dogs. The girls were loud and obnoxious, even feeding their dogs from their plates. When did this start? We know about service dogs and people in need, this was not the case. We have been there before, always satisfied, but this was nasty eating. May as well have been at a hoot-n-nanny, kissing with cousins, spitting tobacco. No thank you.We hope this is not the new standard.

Delicious al pastor taco, grilled sausage and tortilla soup for lunch... can't wait to return for more and try other menu items. Service was quick and courteous!

Excellent food and service here. I got the fajita plate and it was very good. Fresh guacamole, pico and beans. Tortillas seem like they are made in house. Enjoyed the experience.

The food is great! I had the shrimp tacos and my wife had the enchiladas , both excellent . The margaritas were excellent And the service was too !

San Antonio has an abundance of Mexican restaurants, but this one is a stand out. It has authentic Mexican food served in pleasant surroundings. The chicken tinga was wonderful. I had a mojito, which was excellent, and it was hard to stop at one. Serving sizes were generous, which was sad because there was a great selection of desserts, but everyone in our party was too full. Service was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend the mojito and chicken tinga!

A friend and I visited here recently to enjoy lunch and were not disappointed. Considering the current situation, we chose outside seating and they had plenty to offer, socially distanced. The server was quite responsive, the food came out quick, and it tasted fantastic. I wish Trip Advisor would add a category and search function for identifying what restaurants currently have outside seating. Until things settle down, I and a number of my friends are more comfortable with the outside dining versus indoor seating.

I have been wanting to try Ajuua for some time and was happy when a friend suggested we try the brunch buffet. We arrived at 10:40am and the place was fairly full; despite that, we were able to be seated immediately. I noted a goodly amount of five and four star reviews; perhaps they were mainly for items ordered from the menu because I don't think the buffet merited more than three. Of course, even the best restaurant has an off day, especially if they offer a buffet; hopefully this was one of those days and not an indication of the norm. My two favorite dish were the chicken cilantro pasta and the Mexican meat loaf. The pasta dish as a whole was a tad dry but not enough to be objectionable. The pasta itself was cooked a bit past al dente but that didn't matter; the cilantro sauce more than made up for this. The meat loaf was surprisingly good. Most buffet meat loafs are dry and flavorless; Ajuua's was moist, had a pleasing texture and topped with a tasty tomato sauce. As to the rest of the meal, the barbacoa had the correct mouth feel but the flavor was lacking. The cheese enchiladas were very tough (had to use a knife to cut through them) and barely warm; the flavor was just okay. The eggs with chorizo were decent, especially when combined into a taco with some refried been and bacon. Of the three, the bacon was by far the best with a deep smokey flavor. The posole, while spot on flavor-wise, suffered from a heavy hand with the salt--such a shame. And lastly, the chicken flautas were either soggy or too tough to eat; of the few bites I did have, the flavor was pretty decent. And we noticed that there were some items continually missing. Considering the crowd, this isn't surprising; what is surprising was that the steam tables were left empty for an inordinate length of time. The overall ambience is very nice but the tiny room in which we were seated was packed to capacity and the acoustics were horrible. My friend and I could not hear each other speak across the small table but had to lean in to be heard. The service was friendly and quite efficient--no complaints there. Although I doubt if I'll return for the brunch buffet, I might give ordering from the menu a try in the future. If I do, I'll update this review accordingly.

Normally our “go to” but didn’t realize they have a limited menu on Sundays with a buffet and no vegetarian options. Surprised the manager would not accommodate one of our guests with a salad.

The place was slammed, but our server Marie, took excellent care of us. The beef enchiladas were average with chili sauce. Chips and salsa were good. Chicken fajitas were full of sliced chicken breast and lots of it. The main distraction was the almost unbearable noise level. If the food were better, I would still not return because of the noise. 6 Tv's going, a strolling Mariachi group plus the noise of multiple holiday parties made our visit memorable in a negative way.

Arrived at Ajuua at about 4:30 on 21 May 14. Restaurant was empty except for a large party on the patio. We waited for a hostess to be seated and no one showed up. I ended up walking through the restaurant until I found the manager. I asked the manager if we could be seated for dinner. He seemed frustrated, but found a waiter to seat us. Waiter was pleasant, but seemed new, not really knowing happy hour drink prices. This was our second visit to this restaurant and really enjoyed the top shelf margaritas that last time. I asked to upgrade the drink to include Patron. The waiter did not know the price and had to check with the manager. The manager quoted to top shelf price, but added $2.00. This was already on top of the increased happy hour prices from our last visit when they did not up-charge for Patron. We were told the new price is $10.00. We placed the order and ordered dinner. Shortly, the waiter returned and told us the price for the Margarita was now $11:00. We cancelled our order and left.

We were looking for a Chipotle because we had a gift card to use. We couldn't find it and stopped at Ajuua instead. So glad we did! The complimentary salsa was excellent as were the fish tacos, from the flavor of the fish to the chipotle mayo. And the seasonal pumpkin empanada with ice cream was the perfect dessert. The serving consisted of two full-size empanadas, so it was big enough for two to share and still take some home!

Inconsistent food quality. When they're "on," the food is fantastic. If you come at the wrong time or day, the food can be wretched.

It had been awhile since my last visit so we decided to try it again . I had the beef fajita taco plate on our this visit.. For the price and for the appearance of the restaurant i must say that it was sort of a let down . The main disappointment was that the tortillas seemed to be either out of a package or not freshly made.. Also the fajita meet in the taco was bare and did not come with any bell pepper or grilled onions . Still, the side of guacamole and pico de gallo were very small portions served in tiny silver cups that you would expect to be filled with ketchup. . This is a staple, basic dish that should not be served as basic and skimpy as this was. Now wow factor here .

At the suggestion of our valet person, we tried a new place northwest of the downtown area. Very easy to get to, parking was limited, but we could see why! The food was great, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was equally as good. Patio area was being used for a large party, but the a/c felt very good for a very hot day. Only one slight disappointment-- the sopapillas were not quite up to par.... Still tasty, and a good finish to a good meal.

Great buffet for Mexican fare for breakfast. Good choices, great price. Great service, thank you Ulvia. She came through some special requests to make the meals perfect. Barbarcoa, fajitas, fruit, salad, and much more. Great flavors, A great place to try.

I was told this place was good but that was a false statement. I sat down after setting up my wife's new medical aesthetic spot next door at the salons. I ordered the empanadas which were super deep fried to the point they had hardened and dried up they even cut them open which tells me the cooks didn't check them. My wife ordered a chicken quesadilla which looked good but not the case. There are just so many Mexican restaurants in the area that these restaurants should try to improve themselves. I will go again to give them another shot and do another review. Meanwhile give it a shot and judge for yourself.

1st trip to the restaurant was AWESOME. 2nd time was more of your slightly above "average scale". We love sweet tea and the second time we went something was dearly wrong the tea, pretty yuckie. They got my husband ordered switched around he order chicken and they brought steak- it tasted okay overall.

The food is good, I had cheese enchiladas, my personal preference is easy on the cheese. There was too much cheese over powering the other flavors. They use a white cheese that was to stringy, I prefer a softer yellow cheese. The waiters are great, it was lunch time and so very busy. Prices are reasonable.

This little unassuming restaurant does what it does very well. Nice Margueritas, authentic (to someone's recipe) food. Delicious. Wait staff works hard. Easy to access.

The food is mouth wateringly good and the drinks stand up to the food very well indeed. Service is very good and done with a smile and a rather good value too.

My brother was interested in returning to this restaurant and it was a pleasant meal experience once again. The four of us enjoyed our selections. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with a cilantro sauce. It was a very good choice as they were excellent. I will order these again next time we return. The refried beans were good, the rice mediocre as was the bland salsa and chips. Regardless, we will return.

Went to a professional group gathering on their outside patio. I had passed the restaurant many times but I had never gone. It is set back in a shopping center but is isolated. I had the chicken enchiladas with poblano creme sauce and mango frozen margarita, my husband had the street tacos and a margarita on the rocks. Their salsas ranged from flavorful to spicy. We also enjoyed the refried beans as they had a little spiciness to them. My chicken enchilada was stuffed with chicken and the creme was a light offset. My husband enjoyed his tacos. They have a nice happy hour. We thought the venue and food was very good. We will come back.

the queso was hot and flavorful, the chips were crispy and hot, the fish tacos were okay and the guacamole was chunky, like I prefer it. Service was attentive without being intrusive. But, the martinis were flavorful, but, I'm pretty sure the gin was measured in a thimble, not a shot glass......

Enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the superb service. Waiter was very attentive and replenished the soft drinks without ever being asked. We had the sizzling fajitas dish for two and a chicken quesadilla. All the food was wonderful.

The night I spent at this restaurant would be a Halloween blockbuster. The bartender was clueless, the manager incompetent and the experience was one of the worst of my life. The bacon wrapped jalapeños were over cooked to where the bacon was inedible, the drinks were disgusting and the service was humiliating and disrespectful. Btw, I had to dispute the charge because they added their own 20% tip. Incredible! Menu is minimal and most of the dishes you order are as dry as the desert.

I'm always stuck in a rut and go to the same places all the time. However, a couple of my friends took me here and I was very impressed! Enchiladas were yummy, rice was good! It's definitely worth a shot to eat here!
Saturday before Mariachi Vargas show
Gabriela our waitress did an outstanding job! The margaritas drinks were well prepared; my mom and my wife were too happy ;) The food was as expected and the prices were reasonable We will come back
