Hidden Gem

By BEN P |

Would not expect a seafood restaurant in this neighborhood. However, this place is a real gem. The food was excellent, and the prices are extremely reasonable. We had a 6:30pm reservation. The place was empty when we arrived. By 7:30 it was packed. The noise level was very tolerable (I hate real noisy restaurants). The service was a little slow when it got really busy. They also have some very interesting daily specials as well as fresh daily seafood (you choose the method of preparation and the sauce).. Plus there are wine specials with free corkage on Wednesday, half off bottles on Monday and half off glasses on Tuesday. We'll definite return. Suzanna was our waitress and she was a lot of fun as well as efficient.

Great food but agonizingly slow service!

By Crystal T |

We made a 5:15 pm reservation here for dining before a 7:00 pm show at the war memorial opera house. We were right on time. Our service was so slow that by 6:45 pm we had to ask for our food (which was still in the kitchen) to be boxed and left in a mad dash for the show. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because when we ate our food during intermission, it was delicious. So I guess if you have 2+ hours for dinner, give it a try.

Blackened fish delicious but everything else blend and service catastrophic

By JennyZys |

Alright: the blackened fish was delicious. But everything else was blend, and the service absolutely catastrophic: the waitress kept coming and going for a while without stopping by us to answer questions ir ask if we wanted to order or responding to our gestures trying to get her attention. The « plain pasta with butter » for the kids came full of cheese and was charged at full price for « seafood pasta ». Finally, after we paid, the whole table was cleared while i was still feeding the pasta to my kids. Rude!

Neighborhood Gem

By Dennis C |

Dinner on a Saturday night was mixed experience. My wife and I arrived for a 7:00 PM reservation and we were seated immediately. Service throughout the night was always friendly but a bit disorganized the 2 waitstaff. The dishes were tasty. The portion size was on the smaller side but reasonably priced. The bread and olive oil pesto dipping sauce was addictive and easily filled any space left by the smaller portion size.

great little place

By hanis84 |

I went there with two other guys an a sunday evening. We had a table reservation but there were enough free tables for people without a reseration. The service was made by only one guy who was not so much too friendly like they are usualy in us - restaurants and he made his job really good. The food was exzellent. Sure, there are better restaurants but not in the same or close by price categories. The serving sizes especially the appetizers were very good. We had fried calamari, escargots and and a salad with schrimp and avocado and everbody was surprised at the good taste and the serving-sizes. The interior is plainly and not overloaded with decoration. It is a very nice small restaurant to have real good food and a cozy evening with friends. Wish it was in my neighborhood

Great dinner

We had a very enjoyable dinner. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. The owner Andre was absolutely wonderful. We will definitely return to this neighborhood gem.

Just lovely

By Gwenevere M |

Alamo square grill was close to our hotel in an area just enough off the beaten tourist path to offer few other dining options. And I'm glad of it. Otherwise we may have missed this little unassuming gem on Fillmore street near the historic Alamo square area. Service was attentive yet not hovering. Food was great yet simple and reasonably priced. Wine offerings were well thought out. And the setting was small, quiet, and tasteful. Mist patrons seemed to be locals which always speaks well of any establishment in a tourist heavy town. This is definitely a place worth trying and i will gladly return when next in San fran.

Seafood cooked well

By Graeme T |

This is an intimate restaurant and as the name suggests serves seafood. There are a number of choices how you would like to have your fish prepared as well as the type of fish. The staff were friendly and attentive to your needs.

Wonderful neighborhood spot

By anonymous |

Lovely french restaurant in a residential neighborhood at affordable prices. Everything we tasted on the menu was superbly cooked and presented.

Another Tasty meal at a great price. 3 courses for $18 is special.

By On_the_go_with_joe_m |

I don't visit often enough to improve their bottom line, but I truly do enjoy their preparation of seafood. This last visit I irdered the three-course fixed-price meal under $18 which included appetizer, fresh fish dish, and dessert. I also ordered A special shrimp ceviche dish that was very tasty and very plentiful. My dining companions Ordered a special French beef stew and a Halibut dish that was very moist and flavorful. I cannot wait for my next visit.

Phenomenal

By David B |

Great place for a date or an evening out. The food is freshly made with lots of options. There is a good wine list but I would recommend the iced tea which is not the regular run of the mill tea. Within walking distance from the Painted Ladies which makes this a great place to go when sightseeing. I would love to dine there regularly, but alas I live on the east coast. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in San Francisco.

A great meal with excellent service and good prices. Wow!

By Jill R |

We were catching a show at the Fillmore and looking for a nearby place to have dinner. We decided to try this place though we knew nothing of it and had never seen the menu. It turned out to be exactly what we wanted. The meals were great and not overpriced. We brought our own wine and had some of theirs making it all very nice and affordable for four. The service was just perfect. Thank you! We will be back!

Fresh Fish Done Fabulously!

By cxjsparks |

I have ridden (on the bus) past ASSG several hundred times in the past 15 years as I take the 22 Fillmore from my 'hood to the 'hood where I regularly hang out. I've thought many times about setting up a reservation for dinner, but never managed to throw in a line. Earlier this month, this place was chosen by a member of a dinner club of which I am a part. Finally I was getting a chance to check this place out! We all started with a salad or soup. I had the butter lettuce salad with Fuji apples, orange segments, toasted walnuts, blue cheese and apple cider vinaigrette. It was quite good! Lots of flavor, but nothing that drowned out anything else. They all complimented each other well. Everyone enjoyed their salads (most had the same as me), and the one gent who ordered the soup said it was delicious. (I'm sorry, I can't remember what the soup special of the day was. I need to start taking notes when I go out to dinner, especially when I write the review more than a week later.) For entrees, they are known for their fish specialties (which is good, considering their name), and not one person was disappointed. I decided to go with one of the specials from the board, the seared Ahi tuna. It came with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. It was perfectly seared, lots of raw beauty between the sides, and practically melted in my mouth. The sides complimented the tuna quite nicely. Was so happy I went with the special! They had five fish options that evening, including rainbow trout, red snapper and salmon. (Sorry, I can't remember the other two.) Four of the others with whom I was dining selected fish, and then chose how they wanted it prepared/sauced. The options are: Grilled with béarnaise white wine, shallot and tarragon hollandaise Sautéed with beurre blanc white wine and shallot finished with butter Poached with green peppercorn red wine reduction and green peppercorn Blackened provencale with tomatoes, capers, olives, garlic and onion floral herbs Buerre maître d'hôtel garlic and parsley butter Even though a couple of them chose the same fish, they had them prepared differently. Everyone was very enthusiastic about their choices! The last diner, our 6th, chose the pork tenderloin from off the specials board. If I wasn't in a seafood-specific restaurant, I would've chosen the port tenderloin simply because of the side - mushroom risotto. I am more inclined to enjoy risotto (mushroom or otherwise) than mashed potatoes. To say that we all immensely enjoyed our meal would be an understatement. It's rare that I'll go back to a restaurant, only because I can't afford to eat out as much as I would like, but this is a place I will return to. And even if it's out of the way for the others, they plan on going back again, too. With the exception of one person who was simply full, we all cleaned our plates of every morsel. As for wine, four of us went with red, and we had the Malbec, Viu Manent Chilie 2009. (Looked at the menu or would never have remembered that specific bottle.) We had two bottles between the four of us. I don't know what the white was, but the two who drink white did enjoy it. A dry something, just not sure what. We almost never have dessert, as was the case this time, so I cannot comment on their desserts. Next time I go back, not part of a group, I will be partaking. Below I selected a rating for the bar scene. Apologies! There is no bar at which to sit. But the wine selection is extensive. Definitely a place I hope to dine on occasion. Am going to have to try the lump crab cake dinner at some point, or at least the appetizer...

Cute neighborhood spot

By dougrh |

This was my first visit . Food was ok. There were some gaps in the service. Wait staff seemed like they were in training. Had to keep asking for items that should have been noticed. Pre fix is a deal , but wine will definitely add to the cost. Not sure what the corkage fee was.

Breath of Europe

By Acquario1980 |

Nice place, you can clearly see out of USA standard, more European ....French owner Good food, nice atmosphere, interesting small wine list and you can feel everything is fresh as well desserts that I normally do not eat...first and not last time!

What a great little place

By mike a |

Small middle of the block in a quiet neighborhood family run restaurant. Short menu ensures that everything is fresh. Our dinner experience was fantastic, start with salmon platter and pear spinach salad. Shrimp rissotto and steak (yeah I know) were fantastic and prepared just right. Wine and beer served well priced. Make reservation or be there when the door opens at 5:30

Fun and noisy but you have to be patient.

By PeterBruceG |

Late seating us as the restaurant was very busy due to only 2 waitresses. Gave us a glass of bubbles. Both very friendly and attentive when they had a moment. Food was good but very basic; sauce with the muscles was watery and bland, fish was okay but nothing special. It's a local restaurant with cheapish food so was fun to go to.

great food, ok wait staff

By PDXGAL59 |

Nice place with wonderful fresh seafood. Very small so large parties are kind of cramped. Waiter was ok - not super friendly.

Excellent seafood

By Renae M |

Visited this restaurant after searching out fellow trip advice and we were not disappointed. The tuna was cooked to perfection with nice flavors. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic and we enjoyed a bottle of wine. Sadly a fly ruined this for us but overall our experience was pleasant.

Good eating, good wine selection

By LauraLlawenyth |

Great little restaurant. Booking essential unless you eat early, as we did. Was within walking distance to our hotel, the Grove Inn. Gotta love that !

Fantastic seafood

By ECrowther |

We have visited Alamo Square Seafood Grill several times over the past couple of years, and it is consistently excellent. This is a small neighborhood restaurant, charming and comfortable, with friendly service and excellent food. They specialize in seafood, with some wonderful appetizers and great seafood entrees, as well as fabulous desserts. We eat healthy, so we ordered our salmon grilled without any of the several sauces they offer as options, and it was tender and delicious, just superb, served with rice and vegetables. They write the day's specials on two chalkboards, one on each side of the dining room, but they also offer a full menu. If you order fish, you can choose the method of cooking and the sauce... made to order! For dessert, the flourless chocolate cake is to die for, but they offer several other desserts for non-chocolate lovers. Be sure to make a reservation, as they can get busy.

Small place - Great Food and Service

By wineloverAltona |

We ate at the Alamo Sqaure Seafood Grill on New Year's Eve. It was a prix fix menu but it was wonderful. Reasonable portions, great presentation and wonderful service. I recommend this place. The concierge at our hotel said he had never heard of it when I inquired as to how far away it was. He should know about this place. It is very unassuming in appearance but definitely has good food. The only thing that could use some work is the wine list.

We already miss you, Andre!

By rolex007 |

We are very sad that this restaurant is closed. Andre, we will miss you, your wit, sense of humor and wit, and delicious, tasty, piping hot food! We already miss you! Hope you will see this! Your fans

Dont judge a book by its cover

By Steve G |

When the cab pulled up in a side street outside of the restaurant I nearly didn't go in, it had an awful street presence. Inside was shabby chic to say the least and I still thought we'd made a mistake. When we looked at the menu and wine list things definitely looked up as it was simple and elegant. Our waitress Alice was terrific, she new her food and wine and made the meal very enjoyable. The food was really good and incredibly good value.

Expected more..

By Norrtugg |

Did not deliver according to rating, rather average. Food rather dull, sevice undermanned (2 persons) and accepted too many new customers despite that. Charged fix gratuity which for me indicates awareness of underperformance..

Fresh and affordable

By Backroads59 |

great find that serves up delicious simple french dishes, specializing in seafood, but with other great options as well. Very relaxing atmosphere and a great night out. Just around the corner from beautiful historic homes.

Phenomenal

By ElvisAndrus |

Wonderful food in an intimate and warm setting with attentive staff. There were two big groups when we were there and we did not feel lost at all. Not pricey for the quality but a great deal is a prix fixe meal offered early one day a week. And I think they have a special once a week with either bring your wine or half price wine. So fresh and they even shared some tips like soaking the calamari in buttermilk and then cooking it slowly to "relax" it. Number one on my list to get back to. The owner is from Brittany in France and offers some real authentic French dishes.

Intimate dining area, great food, slow service...

By JeriLG |

This is not the place you go in a hurry. But if you have time to linger and want a great meal, you should try it. Get reservations! The server took all the orders and then served the restaurant on his own. It is that intimate. He was patient and friendly but very efficient. Our food was fantastic. Moist fish and full of flavor. Will definitely return!

Brilliant

By Vince M |

Alice was our server who knew the menu inside out, made to feel welcome even though we had not booked. Small menu, massive wine list. Great starters I had Calamari, other half had ceveche, lovely and fresh, mains were just as good " chicken and Red Snapper" too full for dessert. A most enjoyable evening meal. We found this through Tripadvisor. Well worth a look. 10/10

Underwhelmed by overdone

By themenz |

We went to Alamo Square Seafood Grill with high expectations seeing all the great reviews here. But my wife and I were disappointed. While the server was very professional and helpful with a great attitude, and the ambiance was cozy, the seafood preparation was all miss and no hit. We started with the crispy calamari. The restaurant is quite small, and we were the second couple seated (about 5:40 pm on a Friday), so a few moments later we could hear the deep fryer bubbling as our appetizer was being cooked. And we waited, and waited, and waited for about 15 minutes for it to be served. Normally a 15 minute wait is not a problem. But our calamari arrived at room temperature so clearly it had been sitting for a while. But it got worse. The first bite was all breading, very crunchy. Got the to the rings and it was way over cooked halfway to rubber band texture, very chewy. So we broke off the excess batter and gave our teeth some exercise and finished the dish. The serving bowl was 2/3rds filled with excess batter when we were done. I had ordered of the prix fixe menu which was only $14.50 for salad or soup, blackened orange roughy, rice and veggie mix and dessert! My wife ordered the spinach salad and the petrale sole. Salad was $9 and sole was about $16. We had a couple of glasses of wine for $9 each. They do offer free corkage on Wed. The soup was a leek and was very tasty. My wife's spinach salad was not very special. Then we waited for our main courses. After 15 minutes or so, the waitress brought some excellent sourdough bread with a very good pesto dip. So we ate that while we waited for another 15 or 20 minutes and watched the restaurant fill up. Finally my blackened roughy arrived. A very small portion about the 1/2 the size of my hand and maybe 5/16ths thick. It was way overcooked with some spices covering it. I could only eat 1/2 or so. My wife's sole was two larger pieces, a bit thicker, so was better, but not great. The rice was OK, the veggies were very nice mélange of perfectly cooked sliced Brussel sprouts and others. The included dessert was a browned meringue with a couple of sauces (caramel and white) and a sliced strawberry, Nice tasting if a little sweet. We won't go back, unfortunately.

Right across the street from our B&B (The Grove Inn)

Great fish prepared several different ways. We had the Red Snapper. It a neighborhood favorite! You won't be disappointed.

Vibrant scene, hang out for the millennials! Good food, nice service, simple decor. Good place for getting together for a meal when you are not in a rush.

Acceptable customer service and food

By Carol |

Prices on yelp are not accurate. Service on weekend was slow and unattentative. The wait time for food was quite long. Quality of food was acceptable. Only a few pieces of complementary sourdough bread were provided. Before our visit, we were so looking forward to having dinner there because of good reviews online. We likely would not go back.

Authentic French cuisine and wine list

By Bob R |

Recommended by the hotel in which we were staying, we went to this restaurant with high hopes. it lived up top everything said. A splendid menu, with a wide range of seafood and daily specials, is backed up by a surprising wine list, with the majority of the wines from France. The French owner has created a genuine Brasserie feel. Everything about the place was worthy of praise. Excellent service, great atmosphere and willingness t find room on a busy night for us when we had not booked.

Best Food and Best Value Dinner of Our Trip

By winterbeachbum40 |

This place is small, cozy and adorable. The food was AMAZING! Perfect to walk to after seeing the Painted Ladies in Alamo Square (and maybe hitting their playground if you have kids). We LOVED: the snapper with bernaise, rice and vegetable, the smoked salmon salad special, the peach crisp, the bellinis, the pan roasted chicken, and their complimentary bread with oil was incredible. Highly recommend. It's a little place with a few servers so service can get a little slow. Expect it and relax. :)

Good value, homely food in San Francisco

By Jus_and_Ju |

We had their fixed price early evening menu. Limited choice as you would expect, but really good fish, well cooked with decent vegetables. We really enjoyed this meal. Fantastic value. Be sure to book, even at short notice.

A gem of a restaurant in SF

By Dimitrivaz |

What a wonderful experience in the middle of the COVID pandemic! We thought what better combination than French and seafood, and we were not disappointed. The place was packed, with one server, so our food took a while to appear. But when it did, boy was it delicious. We started with butter leaf salad, mussels pomme frittes, and escargot. Everything was wonderful, including the French bread. Our daughter was still hungry, so we ordered the fish special, which included a nice dessert for an unbelievable low price. What a surprising find!

Nice and cozy

By radar60 |

French cuisine in the heart of SF. Limited outdoor seating on a fairly busy street but still very enjoyable. Very good service and good food. Both of us had the escargots for starters and for the mains we had the crab cakes and sole. Topped it off with, what else, crème brûlée. Merci !!!

Grilled Trout

By Albywon |

I dined on half price wine (by the glass) Tuesday. Suzie was the waitress and she was very friendly. The Trout was available cooked a number of different ways but I took her recommendation for Sautéed as that maintained the taste. Served with rice and veges and definitely a good price for fresh fish. The wine was also nice, happy with $5.25 for the glass (would not have been happy at full price though). 1990

a neighborhood GEM!!

By George M |

Having passed this restaurant for years, I was with pals and we decided to try it out. MTW they have a $16.50 3 course dinner. YES that is $16.50!!! Specials galore, a wonderful eclectic wine list with a special bottle r two nightly. That night they were serving 4 fish choices with 5 different aioli sauces to accompany and 4-5 different manners of cooking. We had salmon in a Bernaise Sauce and a stunning fish/scallop risotto. Terrific Calamari began the meal, a shared bottle of Savignon Blanc accompanied, and 2 of the 3 dessert possibilities. Only caveat is there was one server (with an assistant), and the time between being seated (We had made reservations) and being waited on was over 15 minutes. The time between bread/appetizer and dinner was over 20 minutes AFTER the appetizer was finished. She wasn't harried, just very busy. Still, this is a small caveat and I fully intend to return. (Other choices were lamb that night)

Happy, hungry

By M K |

Nice little spot...great waiters and great food. Appetizer was the highlight: shrimp ceviche was tasty...as was the bread and pesto the set at table when we say down. So good! Disappointed that salmon wasn't fresh, but red snapper was really good, if a touch salty. All in all a great meal

San Francisco Trip

By Kevin241157 |

This Hotel was right over the road from where we stayed at the Grove Inn. Luckily we had a good days walking and went in the Grill around 6ish and had a seat easily - within 30 mins the place was packed with vistors coming to book later times. A good sign and the menu had a great selection of fish, pasta and steaks. needless to say the food was gorgeous, the wine list very good and service second to none. very clean friendly people, polite and professional

Cozy, french and good food

I enjoyed the atmosphere, the service and indeed the food! Reasonable priced, good wine selection. I will come again,

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

By Perapol D |

I was super excited to visit this restaurant tonight. One of my good friend was in town tonight and we decided to go celebrate his birthday there. I had made reservation tonight on OPENTABLE for 7:30pm for 3 people. We arrived early around 7:15pm. I enter the restaurant and told I believe a "French, Tall, Skinny frame...Collar shirt and jeans guy" that we are early but if there's no table yet...We will wait but letting you know that we are here. He was absolutely extremely RUDE and said "Not yet...GO WAIT outside". 7:30 came and still no table or anyone giving us any update. We waited outside with another couple. 7:42 pm - The French guy I'm assuming that he's the owner...came out with 2 glasses and a bottle of White Wine...Went over to the couple that is waiting outside and offer a glass of wine to both of them. He walk back into the restaurant after pouring them each a glass of wine and did not acknowledge us or give us updates about our table. 7:52 pm - Finally, he come out with both hands up in the air and said "OOOOOKAAAY" Table is ready...no apology!!! Seated us and we were promptly served water. 8:04 pm - Again, The French guy comes over and start taking our order...Not half way taking our order he put his order pad down...said "Sorry...I need to go say good bye...to a party of 6 that was leaving" He goes out side for more than 5 mins...start taking selfie with them. 8:10 pm - My friends and I decided to leave the restaurant...On our way out, we told him that we are not going to dine here...and his respond was "OK". This is one of the worst experience for me and my friends tonight at this place. It's so sad that this restaurant has high hope but definitely lack customer service. Visiting the ALAMO SQUARE SEAFOOD GRILL was certainly an experience to remember, but one that I never hope to repeat and would not wish upon anyone else. If you are tempted to try this restaurant for seafood...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE LIKE TADICH GRILL OR WATER BAR. To the french guy...You absolutely need to learn about manner and excellent customer service. You are so rude and disrespectful!!! I hope that this review will help others when selecting restaurants to eat in SF. I will spread the words to people that I know and let them know not to come to your restaurant!!!

Yummi Seafood

By Stephanie M |

The seafood was super delicious. We stayed at the Grove Inn Boutique Hotel that is right around the corner of Seafood Grill. The service took quite a while - but it was quite crowded inside - so that might have been the reason for us waiting.

A Great Find!

By MNM1011 |

We were jet lagged and worn out from our first day in San Francisco. We wanted seafood, but didn't want to fight the crowds at Fisherman's Wharf nor deal with the long waits on North Beach. We did a little research and found this restaurant, a 5 minute cab ride from our hotel. This is a small restaurant, with tasteful wine-centric decorations and intimate seating. It has a pretty small menu featuring 5 different fishes, cooked however you choose and with whatever topping you choose. Our table had blackened Red Snapper, Mussels w/chorizo and the special of bay scallops, caulifornia risotto and asparagus. All we cooked to perfection and simply wonderful!!! Our service was excellent and fun. We had great meals and great times here at the Alamo. Definitely a do-over!!!!

Disappointed this time.

By coop4133055 |

We had positive experiences 10 years ago or so as we ate there before the SF Symphony. Therefore, we were looking forward to our experience on a Monday evening as we were headed for the SF Airport. Unfortunately, our previous positive experience was not repeated. The salads were OK , but the fish dishes were not. My swordfish was a bit dry and the Pomodero sauce tasted "canned". My partners Mussels smelled fishy and tasted old. The French Fries were soggy. Definitely an off night for the kitchen.

My fish was cooked perfectly.

By jazzy6991 |

This may be the best value in San Francisco. I started with the salad, which was dressed perfectly. My main course was the blackened trout. Delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. They will prepare your fish just about anyway you ask. Even the dessert surprised, though it wasn't spectacular, it topped off the meal. All for a very fair price.

Nice and cozy

By Peter R |

Small neighbourhood type restaurant with very good food and pleasant personal service. Had a marvellous tuna dish. Ask waitress for today’s specials and go for her recommendations.

Rude service!

By Christine B |

We were excited to try this place out. We showed up early for our reservation, she (the host?) rudely told me she would not be able to seat us until 10 min before reservation. That would have been fine, but they had a ton of tables open, no one was waiting, and it was the way she said it! I then went to tell my friends and she rudely asked us to wait outside. I then changed my reservation on open table to move it up (it was available) and she ignored us. I gave it 1 star because people seemed to be enjoying the meals, but we never got to try the food.... we left and went to a friendly amazing Mexican place near by!

GREAT LITTLE SPOT!!!!!!!!!!

By Larry G |

Low key little restaurant on fillmore. Food was excellent and the price was better. Had prix fixe menu for $15/pp. Crab cakes were over the top and large. Trout and salad were tasty. Had 1/2 off glass of wine on Tuesdays. would go back in a second.lg

Great service and food for the money. Maybe the best overall deal in town. I love eating seafood that is fresh, new, and different. I appreciate the attention to detail that the staff take, and the fact that they care about your enjoyment.

Great food, great prices

By lascola |

Great for a leisurely dinner for a group or family, although it is a tiny place. We had a party of 7 adults and one baby. Two people had the beef bourguignon, which was excellent. Sole grilled with wine sauce, excellent. Chicken excellent. Shrimp also very good-crab cakes as an appetizer excellent. Tuesday glass of wine half price. Waitress handling whole restaurant, but cheerful and nice. Bill for 7 adults, 8 glasses of wine, entrees and one appetizer: $246.00 gratuity included. Fish can be cooked poached, grilled blackened or sautéed with choice of sauces.

Very average fish dishes.

By TravelingVet1981 |

Our fish dishes were just average. They serve their fish with one of several sauces, but these couldn't save the dish. The chocolate cake was excellent. Good wine list.

Grilled seafood place

By xlnat |

This place is cozy and unlike the usual American restaurants which could have loud music, noisy patrons, noisy dishes clanging in the kitchen etc. it's a little dark but generally quiet enough to enjoy a meal in peace or enjoy a conversation without raising your voices. Make a reservation before coming as this place is popular. I had the grilled snapper with garlic parsley sauce, where I also enjoyed the grilled vegetables on the side. The grilled carrots and zucchini maintained the sweetness of the vegetables and not overly salted or peppered to cover the taste of freshness. The snapper also tasted fresh but I wished the garlic parsley butter had been warmed more before serving. I also had the floating island dessert, which was a meringue with raspberries and blueberries around it. It was delicious but I was looking forward to something more satisfying. I probably should have had the chocolate cake. The meal came up to approx $28 including tips, which was decent in my perspective.

Good food ,Very disappointed experience

By noreengilbert |

My niece booked the Alamo Grill for an evening meal for a family group celebrating a significant birthday (My youngest sister) the menu looked good we had been in San Francisco for a week and wanted somewhere close to where we where staying to have a nice meal preferably one that had a good reputation for fish dishes. I didn't want to make an issue of the poor service we received because it would have spoiled our evening, but from from the way we were greeted on arrival (hardly bothered to say hello) to the way our wine was brought to the table(opened away from us ) to the way it was then plonked down on the table I found it very difficult to keep silent. The food was good but then it should have been we would have chosen dessert and coffee but the surly manner of the older waiter(proprietor) put us off. I have never never experienced such an off hand couldn't care less attitude from an obviously bored member of staff. To rub salt into the wound we were seated next to a couple who may have been regulars but they were treated entirely different to us. Happily for us during our 15 day vacation in California we ate out nearly every night from San Francisco to Santa Clara and Napa Valley all our other experiences were fantastic nights and venues to remember. This is the very first time I have ever complained on line about a restaurant but I was so disappointed especially as it was for my sister that I felt I had to say something !!!

Awesome neighborhood gem!

By Carin C |

Picked this off OpenTable for a dinner with friends while back in SF for the weekend. As a native, I wanted something really local. Small menu with excellent fresh fish. Must try the muscles with chorizo!! Fab food for a great price.

European Atmosphere & Charming Host

By Falls Girl |

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant you might easily miss. Tucked out of the way and across the street from the Grove Inn, we found it to be a welcome refuge for a later-than-expected meal. Just inside the unassuming entrance are curtains, and as you pass through them, you suddenly feel you’re actually in Europe. This is a small, cozy bistro with dark, heavy furnishings that instantly make you feel comfortable. True to form, they stay open late. The host was charming and attentive, the food was good, and service was excellent. I would definitely eat here again, but my only complaint (as another review mentions) was that the pour for an $11 glass of wine was a bit light.

Cozy little neighhood restaurant

By Mandy S |

The food is excellent here. The server was so very friendly! The restaurant is cozy and small. Loved sitting in the window seat! Everything we ordered was delicious and the prices are so excellent. They have good specials during the week like no corkage fees some nights. Will be coming back!

Uneven but worth a visit

Nice locale and small fun feel. Had an irritating loud off and on kitchen machine sound, Food was up and down. Fish was excellent and well cooked and presented but mussels despite and good sauce were small and overcooked. Calamari was average. The shrimp rissotto was greasy and had very run of the mill shrimp. Crabcakes were dull but okay. Go there for fish and drinks.

Restoration!

By Liz R |

After a slightly jaded view of San Franciso we were recommended this restaurant by our hotel. It is just off the delightful Alamo Square park which was good to walk around beforehand with excellent views of the city. We managed to secure a table for two on a really busy 'Bring your own (wine)' night and although the service was a little slow due to the numbers our freshly cooked fish was perfect. A great atmosphere and service by the owner.

Accessible, Affordable, Delicious

By Sally D |

Three of us enjoyed a wonderful Sunday night meal at this little unpretentious French bistro. We were able to make reservations, were seated immediately, and warmly welcomed. We wanted fresh seafood well-prepared, but simply prepared. We all chose Pacific coast Red Snapper from the Oregon coasts. We did not expect the prix fixe menu to be available on a Sunday night, but fortunately, it was . A perfectly dressed salad of very fresh greens was the first course. The fish was sauteed perfectly and served with a light green pepper sauce, fresh vegetables and rice. A blancmange with both caramel and chocolate sauce was beautifully presented as dessert. There was a good supply of crusty bread with olive oil with a sauce vert provided as well. I was happy that the management had not decided to watch my calories for me! The price was an unbelievable $14.75 . The wine list had many affordable options too. If I were lucky enough to live in S.F.,I would be a frequent diner here! The restaurant is handy to the Muni (22) and that night we found free parking available too..

good food, good service and reasonable price

By Rudi O |

Today I had rib eye on a warm tray. Why is this important as in my review from yesterday about St. Helena eveything was cold because of a steel plate and cold trays. For half the price everything is warm until you are finished. This small restaurant understands how to make the customer happy for a reasonable price!!!!. If you are in the neighbourhood give it a try; it is more than worth.

We love this place!

By Julien P |

Alamo Square Grill is our go-to for a great weekday dinner where you get quality SF cuisine without the pretension or price-gouging. The food is consistently great and we know we can count on excellent service every time. If you go on a Friday, you'll get to meet the owner Andre. He is as special as the place! The kitchen can always accommodate my wife who is a vegetarian and their beef bourguignon is not to be missed. I recently recommended it to a co-worker, who told me it was one of his favorite places too! We were raving together, so I wanted to make sure to write this review. For a warm, cozy neighborhood spot you won't be disappointed.

Great Neighborhood Find

We always look for places like this when we travel and it was fantastic. Small neighborhood place with great staff and food. Calamari and Pear Salad were well prepared and very tasty. Will definitely go back.

Wonderful

If you're looking for great fish, great service and great ambiance in San Francisco (at a great price) this is your place. Relaxed and unpretentious. Very enjoyable.

Intimate, caring service of thoughtful food in busy city.

By Emily M |

We made a reservation a week before our anniversary trip to SF. I was really looking forward to some great seafood and this place didn't disappoint. But more than the food (which was great!) the service and ambiance were really awesome. Its a smaller restaurant, with maybe only 10 -15 tables at most, which led to a really intimate feeling, even between parties. I loved how, to us outsiders, it really represented the culture of the restaurant scene in the city. The menu is simple but had some great options. We ate the calamari (which is as adventurous an appetizer as my husband was willing to explore). I really wanted to try the escargot but he wasn't having it and there were simply too many items on the menu to try them all. We also had the chowder, which was good, but we probably could've split one bowl just to get a little taste of it, as by the time we got our entrees (me, the salmon, he, the ribeye) we were full. My only complaint, and this is one I have for most restaurants, is that the sides that accompanied the main course seemed to be an afterthought. I often wonder if restaurants do that on purpose because they know that it usually goes to waste. I feel that the vegetable dishes are only really superb if you order a vegetarian entree. There was a mixed veggie sautee that came with both entrees. Mixed zucchini and brussels. Mine came with an orzo/rice pilaf that was pretty bland. My husband's steak came with a big pile of fries and onion rings that were tasty but seemed a little of an insult to the rest of the dish/menu. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Bottom line, excellent job on the bread and dipping sauce, appetizers were thoughtfully made, and entree protein was delicious. If you fill up on that, you won't mind the "plate filler" veggie and starch. Also, the wine list looked amazing but I'm pregnant and my husband doesn't drink so we didn't get to experience it. I'm sure it would've made the meal even better (as well as the dessert menu, which we were too stuffed to even consider). If you're looking to get good seafood and experience a quintessential "little restaurant in the big city," don't miss this place.

Outstanding Dinner

By ckervran |

Had dinner on a Friday night and couldn't ask for more. The restaurant was hopping but not loud. Nice and comfortable ambiance. The food was outstanding at a great price. The service was wonderful. We were waited on by the owner Andre and had an exceptional experience. We told everyone we could what a great time we had. Will be back when we are in town! Andre, mon nouveau cousin I will keep my eye out for the book when you choose to write it. Happy surfing!

Small portions, but very good preparations.

By TommyEureka |

We loved the quirky ambiance, with piles all around the wall seating, nice art, low light. The seasoned vegetables were ridiculously good, the trout small but delectable, but the calamari stole the show. Very nice waiter, accommodated us and our messy baby. I would have liked a wider variety of fish on the menu and our bowl of chowder seemed like 1/2 a bowl, but still a nice time.

Great food at a great price

By literature-lover |

A tiny place with a nice atmosphere with wonderful food and bargain prices, who could ask for more? We got their prix fixe--a leek-potato soup, trout with beurre blanc sauce, rice, and vegetables, and floating island meringue for dessert all for $15. And it was delicious!

Overrated

By Nhiker |

Nice place, but the food and service were average.

Excellent food

By orlytModi_in |

Excellent food... blackened fish with rice and vegetables, cauliflower soup, French desert... all was cooked and made deliciously. Very good service as well.

Such a great hidden gem

By Tim M |

We came here after finding it on Trip Advisor and could not be more happy. The food is all made from scratch and with ultimate care. Escargot was some of the best in shell escargot I have ever had! The red snapper was amazing and if you can save room, the from scratch desert is to die for!

A little disappointing

By aubyrnefamily |

We thought we had stumbled on a gem at first. Lovely restaurant, small and intimate. Excellent and courteous service and very reasonable prices. However, the food just wasn't that great. I hate to give a bad review because the service was so good, but all in all we were disappointed with the taste of the food. I don't regret going there, but I'm just glad we didn't blow a lot of money on the place.

Authentic and Charming Seafood Grill

By Pete G |

The B and B I was staying in recommended this cozy restaurant. After a long day of travel, it was a perfect venue for me. The interior has an authentic European touch and is warm and comfortable. Riley was the hostess and server and was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Based on my request for recommendations, she suggested a delicious grilled tuna dish with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was delighted with the dinner and finished it off with a piece of chocolate cake and strawberries. The entire experience was a terrific value and the service spot on.

Delicious food

By angelapA8807VI |

We ate at Alamo Grill several times particularly as it was close to our hotel. Very friendly service and delicious food, reasonably priced, with special offers on most nights. Definitely recommend to eat here.

Small but really good

By Cathy S |

The hostess, Susie I think, was brilliant. Couldn't have been more helpful. The food was good. Several of our party had steaks all cooked to different tastes and all cooked to perfection. I had the fish soup. I loved it. Great flavours. Lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and if I lived nearer I would make it a regular haunt.

Food excellent, service slow

By dpakman91 |

Food was excellent, service pretty slow. Verrrrry long delay between appetizers and entrees, but to their credit were perfectly cooked. Had grilled salmon, calamari appetizer, and also a salad on the specials menu, and you probably would be in good shape ordering just about anything here.

Seafood/French

By Elaine415 |

This is a delicious restaurant, small, out of the way and yet, very popular. Food is fabulous. The waitstaff is very efficient and attentive and yet not overly attentive if you know what I mean. My daughter called and let them know it was our anniversary and they gave us champagne and dessert! My shrimp risotto was so flavorful. My husband had steak and he said it was perfect. The pear salad was excellent.

A bit of Paris in San Francisco - GO!!!

By Elly B |

What an adorable place. It is like walking into a French Bistro. And the prices are amazingly low. Where can you get a halibut dinner for $21? They had 5 fishes the night we went. You chose your fish and then chose grilled, poached, sauteed or blackened and then the sauce. It came with rice and a vegetable medley - I don't usually like vegetable medleys but this was delicious! My husband had a really nice salad before dinner and we split a dessert - floating island. It was the only disappointment - it was good not excellent. Service was great, you can BYOB, and the Uber car picks you up in minutes to take you back to your hotel. We will definitely be going back next time we are in San Francisco.

Outstanding neighbourhood restaurant.

By David J |

I eat here almost every time I come to San Fran (which is at least every other month). And it is very consistent in providing great food at outstanding value. Tonight I started with the New England Clam chowder and it was excellent. And for my entree, I had the blackened snapper with green peppercorn sauce. And it was very good. And it was Monday so I am having a bottle of Rose that is excellent. And a lovely dessert finished the meal. The three course meal was 14.5 because I got the early bird special. That is a value you cannot beat any where (most less San Francisco). And the BEST part of the entire experience is the fantastic service you receive. Ken is warm and welcoming host/server. And very efficient at the same time. That is not an easy combination to achieve. But by achieving it, he increases the dining experience immeasurably.

Good local restaurant

By Anders J |

This seems to be a place with a lot of locals. Our B&B mentioned that this place was a secret but that is not really true, just look at Tripadvisor! It is a bit hyped, maybe too much? Good food but service was a little slow. Preparation was good but nothing spectacular. Prices are a bit high but it's SFO...

Neighborhood fish house

By Napafoodlover |

Always looking for restaurants within walking distance to Davies Hall...we found this very little restaurant. Make reservation cause this is a very small place. Friendly staff, service prompt. Started with Calamari tho the sauce had a slight curry taste....you can opt on the preparation of your fish as well as sauce.....both the salmon & halibut were nicely done....finished with the cream puffs, so so. A good experience, a bit of a hike to Davies Hall.....good neighborhood spot, very good value.

Decent Food but Slow Service

By Clarina P |

This is really a local neighborhood restaurant, The night we were their, it was quite busy the night we went. We picked our appetizers before we started to look at the dinner menu. Good Thing, otherwise we woould probably still be waiting for our food. We waited over 15 minutes between when our empty appetizer plates were taken away until we were served our entrees. Our small water glasses were not refilled until we had finished dinner. While it is known for its seafood, the best value on the menu was the Steak and the Chicken dishes. My risotto did not have the creaminess one would usually get, but the other people had delicious starches on their plates. The prices are good, the food was good, but not great. I could hear conservations from across the room. It was quite noisy most of the time we were there. With only 2 waiters in the restaurant, it was probably not enough for the business that night.

Lovely neighborhood gem

By AllenFos |

I've driven by this place several times, finally decided to check it out. It's not "near" any other businesses, which makes going there feel special. Everything we had was exceptional, but my favorite was the grilled shrimp ceviche appetizer. Marvelous flavors, all very fresh. The place was buzzing on Saturday night, mostly with local folks as far as we could tell. Warm, friendly service. I would definitely go back. And, the 22 Fillmore bus stops right in front of the restaurant - talk about leave your car at home convenience!

Bastille day was fun and had a great meal

By basafs |

The staff amazingly had space for my wife and I on Bastille day, when they were very busy. The food was excellent and the staff attentive and helpful

Great Food

By Sundip P |

Was conveniently located (right across from where we were staying) - Time was of the essence so we chose to dine here. The food was good (Quality 7/10) however the service could have been better, however this did not prevent us from enjoying the rest of the night.

Very good food

By LVALLEP |

Very nice food. We went for a dinner few days ago. The fish was very fresh, the wine very good and the staff very friendly. I would recommend this place if you love fish. The atmosphere is very nice and the location is good too. Mussels with chorizo was delicious😋

An Intimate Neighborhood Gem

By TravelingPseudonym |

Great food and not very expensive. We both had the prix fixe dinner, including soup or salad, trout with rice and mixed vegetables, and a meringue dessert. It was interesting, delicious, and $14.95. The news must be out because it was crowded at 6:15 on a Sunday night. Reservations are available through Open Table.

Nice place, go on a Monday

By Terry T |

The grill is located in an ok neighborhood. The place itself is smaller (about 25 people) and very cozy, especially if you can get a window table. On Mondays, wines are half price with a good selection. Service is very good with servers that will give you as much or as little attention as you want - no hovering. The food was recognizable as really "fresh, not frozen" seafood but I can't speak to the limited other parts of the menu. The seafood is offered with your choice of preparation type and your choice of a variety of sauces, all of which are delicious. The place is eminently comfortable and prices are very reasonable. It is a good place to go for laid back dining and they do make one feel at home, even for over 2 hours!

Great Value and Very Good Food

By TravelAgent34 |

This is a very nice restaurant with very good food and atmosphere at very reasonable prices. You can't beat the special. Mine was Cream of Brocolli Soup, Blackend Trout with pepercorn sause and Floating Island desert for $15. They have a parking lot too.

Great Seafood

By Terry T |

The food is great, the service is terrific, prices are very reasonable and the half price wine on Mondays is perfect.

Great tasty food, great friendly service

Superb little restaurant on Fillmore Street. Food was delicious, with friendly service and nothing seemed like a hassle. Really relaxing environment. Comes highly recommended!

Another very good experience

By kms4774 |

It has been awhile since I had been at this place (and written a review), so I was pleased to find that this restaurant still rates as one of my favorites in San Francisco. It's a fish place, but I went with the daily specials. I opened with a terrific peach and heirloom tomato salad. My entree was roast pork, which was perfectly cooked. My wife and daughter had peppercorn trout and blacken salmon, respectively, and both were very happy with their meals. Prices were moderate, so this place rates as an excellent value. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Nice neighborhood joint

Lovely food, friendly service, easy dining. Simple fresh food prepared well. There is more than fish.

Small restaurant in one of San Fran's quaint neighborhoods

By JudyDSpring |

We recently had a convention in San Francisco and set out to take some clients to a restaurant that was small and in a quiet neighborhood off of the main path. WE FOUND IT. Alamo Square Seafood Grill was the best restaurant. Initially we stunned the employees when six of us walked in and they didn't have our reservation (Open Table didn't make it through for some reason). It took a little bit to seat us but once we did, it was perfect. Everyone had something different and they each raved about their food. Great atmosphere and service too!

Neighborhood gem with extraordinary food

By kbranman |

We chose this restaurant because we were renting an apartment near Alamo Square but we'd gladly travel the length of SF to eat here again. Most of us chose the prix fixe menu of blackened salmon served with sauteed vegs (brussels sprouts, unique squashes and carrots) which was accompanied by lobster bisque or field greens and followed by (only disappointment of the evening - chocolate souffle which was leaden but flavorful). One in our party had the special of the day - filet mignon with pancetta and yukon gold potatoes and grilled asparagus. This meal was (if possible), more amazing that the salmon. Portions were generous and prices made this a comparatively economical choice. On wednesdays, you can bring your own wine and there is no corkage for up to 2 bottles if 2 entrees are ordered. The service was great until the restaurant began filling up. The waiter/host was assisted by the sous chef but was clearly taxed. We would highly recommend this restaurant and think the locals have a gem in their midst.

What a find!

By LauderdaleLass |

We had tickets for the Sunday evening Symphony and couldn't get in to the usual, nearby haunts. My friend found this gem online. Our table was in a cozy corner overlooking Fillmore's quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and the prix fixe seafood menu for less than $80. Delicious food, attentive -- but not intrusive service -- in a quiet place where conversation didn't have to be shouted across the table. A traditional feel with a country French menu.

Great place near Alamo Square

By David F |

I've eaten here a number of times, and have consistently enjoyed our meals. It's a great value . The food is very good. Lively and casual atmosphere. Andre, the owner, is very accommodating. Among other items, they are known for having 4 different fishes, which you can have cooked one of 4 different ways, then served with one of 6 different sauces. It's a great concept, you can have it your way. I'll be back

A+ all around! :)

By rolex007 |

We had a lovely (!) time at this restaurant: -Owner: Very charming. I really appreciated and enjoyed his wit. Service was excellent! :) -I liked that we can see the cooks preparing the food in the kitchen. (Didn't actually see the food being prepared, but know that it was being prepared. We could see them. :)) -Food: Excellent!: Freshly baked bread with pesto sauce! So good--bread and pesto--we had another basket! :) (Had one slice left. Took it home.) My partner had: Coquille Saint-Jacques (had a taste--will get it for myself next time if on menu! :)); oysters; beef burguingnon (had a taste--perfect--just the right amount of wine taste for me--which is not too much); and flourless chocolate cake. Pour moi: Crab cakes; French onion soup (a customer had the roasted cauliflower soup and gave it a thumbs up--will get next time, if on menu); perfectly blackened salmon with the tasty peppercorn sauce (just right amount and on side (sauce recommended by owner--so went with--am very happy :)) (came with tasty seasoned rice and veggies); and, for dessert, tarte tartin. (It's a lot of food--but wanted to try. --Partner tasted everything of mine and also liked everything.) Everything was so tasty. Had main and dessert boxed.) Everything was so good (had a taste or more of everything before boxing)--and what I especially liked and appreciated is that, as soon as the food is made, it is brought to the table! :) We had water. Partner also had a red wine, which was delicious. (I am not a wine drinker. For me, It was slightly sweet--which I liked--and very smooth. I still enjoyed it very much, though I am not a wine drinker! I liked that it was not very strong.)

Mixed Review

By NormanSantaFe |

3 of us went to dinner at this restaurant last night. The pros include (i) good server, (ii) nice ambiance, (iii) very good fish dishes for two of us. The cons include (i) very slow service (food preparation, not our server), and (ii) wife's ribeye steak quite tough. While it was a little bit pricey, that's San Francisco. Would go back but avoid the steak.

Cute little neighborhood gem!

By CruisenFamily |

Sunday evening, Hayes Valley, cozy window table, great food! Plus, didn't bust the bank. I'm so glad we discovered this place. This is going to be our "go to" place for a piece of fresh fish, a glass of wine, and all the time in the world. The Hostess/Waitress was very charming and efficient. She brought out bread and waters - the basil sauce for the bread is delicious!! My husband had the "prix fixe" menu which consisted of soup or salad (he had the potato leek soup); blackened snapper with rice and vegetables (which was the Chef's special entree this evening), and a decadent dessert - all for $16.50!!!! I had the blackened sole which was perfect! My son enjoyed the lump crab cake appetizer and loved it. At 6:00 pm it was just us and another couple. We had such an enjoyable evening! We will be back!!

Excellent Seafood, Affordable Prices

By Aboehmer |

Located just a few steps from Alamo Square, the Alamo Square Seafood Grill is a rare find among San Francisco restaurants. Small (ca. 25 small tables), with unpretentious decor, it offers beautifully prepared seafood dishes that would command twice the price in a larger restaurant with linen tablecloths and a view. A daily specialty of the house is four fresh fish of your choice, four preparation choices, and four excellent sauces—all prepared to your order for $15.95 (year 2015). I ordered Petrale sole sautéed with beurre blanc sauce. It came with a delicious sautéed kale side, rice pilaf, and bread with a delicious pesto dipping sauce. The sole could not have been better and the sauce was superb. If the ambience were more upscale I would gladly rate it at 5 stars. Alamo Square Seafood Grill is located in the Alamo Square Historic District, noted for its beautiful Victorian homes and tree-lined streets.

Small venue but big night

Delizioso ristorantino vicino alle Painted Ladies ! Nice and friendly service. Food cooked impeccably. Dolci veramente super !!! Very affordable bill. Not least they helped us find the lost phone.

Great Find

By fellowbrit2016 |

Jamie made us very welcome (a fellow Brit), we arrived 30 mins before they "officially" opened for the evening but Jamie invited us in and we waited with a glass of wine! Lovely atmosphere, great food, exceptional pricing -wish you were closer to San Jose-so we could make you our goto dinner place all the time!!

Great food, not so great service

By Marla B |

If I were reviewing just the food, I would go for the 5*. But given this also involves service, I'm going with a 4* Ambiance is quite sweet and charming. Enjoyed the pillow like comfort of the bench seating. Food choices as follows: Calamari - de-lish, fresh and plentiful. The calamari rings were huge. Odd dipping sauce though, that did not make the dish. Missed "real tartar sauce". Spinach Salad w/poached pears (none in site); tons of bleu cheese chunks, pickled onions, super fresh. No candied walnuts - just walnuts. But still really good and healthy serving. I would order this again. Blackened Salmon was delicious. Really enjoyed the fresh mixed vegetables and plentiful serving of rice. Grilled trout also very good w/a Beurre Blan sauce. Though there was barely any sauce, it was very good and again plentiful. I would also order this again. Where my guest and I were befuddled was the almost non-existent service by the male server. Not sure he is the owner, but he mostly seemed disturbed by our shear existence. He was abrupt, rude and just couldn't be bothered. We accidentaly spilled one of our waters, we tried to mop it up with napkins and his response in a rather gruff voice "just leave it"! If I'm going for service, I would think twice about returning. But the food is very good, no cork fee on Wed., and the prices very, very reasonable for fresh seafood.

Great little getaway gem

By famhand |

We were in the Alamo square area and found this little neighborhood restaurant, what a find! Small, cozy and quiet, we could actually talk without all the noise of the tourists in the restaurants in the fisherman's wharf area. The service was incredible. There was one person who took your order, served the drinks, meals cleaned the table and was the cashier. He is so good and efficient we all commented on how good he was and how in other restaurants that we had been in with many more people they were not a attentive as he was. The food was very good. We had the calamari, mussels and the fish specials. Fish was fresh and well prepared. There was a decent wine menu for such a small place and very reasonably priced. Save room for the deserts, the Creme Brûlée and the strawberry crisp were fabulous. We had a very relaxing dinner here, not crowded, quiet place. The decor was not great, nothing special but nice. Will be going again even if it means we are not in the area.

Good seafood spot

If you are around Alamo Square and like seafood, this restaurant is all you need to visit. Great convenient location and tasty food. Service by Penny and Hassan made it all worthwhile.

Great Little Gem!

By Sandra S |

We go to the City a lot and wanted something off the beaten path of tourist hot spots. We found it!! Great food, great service and great ambiance! We were there for approximately two hours and it was really a wonderful dining experience. You can tell that this is also a very popular locals place, which was refreshing. Try this place - we will definitely be back!

Great Neighborhood Experience

By 968JerryB |

I am so glad I tried this restaurant rather than fighting the crowds at some tourist trap. The service was great. My waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was really good from the apetizers to the deserts. The muscles and the escargot were fresh and delicious. I especially recommend the shrimp ceviche which provided a great mix of flavors that surprised me. I had the mahi mahi and my wife had the snapper, both prepared perfectly to our specific tastes. The waiter picked a perfect wine to compliment our meals. The side of root vegetables were really good. As for the deserts I had the flourless chocolate cake and my wife had the profiteroles. Phenomenal! At the end of the meal, the waiter offered to call us a cab which saved us the hassle of trying to figure out how to get back to the hotel. I thought the vaue was amazing and I was pleased by my bill. They could charge more although I hope that doesn't change. I really liked this place and I highly recommend it. I felt right at home. I will definitely be back.

Christmas Eve - not so good

By Lenber |

We booked this Restaurang for Christmas Eve for our family and friends. The food was nice but the services was a bit rushed. They started to serve the main course before all in our company had finished their starters. This made the whole experience a bit hectic and pre rehearsed.

Amazing neighborhood gem

By tyspritey |

I was wanting to find a local, non touristy restaurant to celebrate youngest son's graduation during our vacation. We had one day in San Francisco and I wanted this dinner to be memorable without breaking the bank. I reviewed everything I could find on TA, Yelp and Urbanspoon, and even asked questions on the forums. I finally chose Alamo Square even though it didn't have very many reviews, but the ones posted were definitely positive. I can absolutely say this restaurant definitely fit all I wanted; delicious food, amazing service, and a small, quaint, non-party atmosphere. We started out with ceviche and crab cakes, both of which were delicious, but the crab cakes were excellent; both sons had the tuna; I had the red snapper; and husband had the rainbow trout. All delicious. The waiter was more than happy to substitute different items on our plates; and was always there to promptly fill our glasses and ask if we needed anything. Even though it is a small place, he was the only waiter there for the evening, and you would not know it. He was even the "bartender" as he served our bottle of wine and beer. I was very impressed with my find, and would definitely go back if I am ever in San Francisco again.

Just fabulous!

By 3Marcella4 |

DH and I had dinner with my 2 nieces at this small restaurant on Fillmore St. I must say it was the perfect choice. Service was friendly and not rushed (which we really appreciated since we hadn't seen each other in a long time) and the food was well......just perfect! The grilled swordfish was delicious and DH had the salmon on the prix fixe menu. Now, he isn't much of a fish-eater but declared the salmon was really excellent Nieces' dinner were also declared excellent. Everything was prepared with imagination with an eye toward flavor. I give this restaurant 5 stars. Only problem is parking....not many spaces in the area and a public parking lot is several blocks down the hill, i n not the nicest neighborhood. OH...and IMO, this is a small, intimate restaurant, a bistro-type of place, a casual date place. Definitely NOT a place for kids.

Cozy, healthy, reasonable

By erinamadden |

Our hosts at the nearby Grove Street Inn suggested the Alamo Square Seafood Grill for our first night when we were too exhausted from traveling to go very far. The Alamo Square Seafood Grill has a great $15 entree option to create your own fish dish from a choice of three fishes and three preparation styles. We sat in a beautiful window bench seat really enjoyed the Alamo Square Seafood Grill.

Blow away restaurant at a reasonable price

By sfyakko |

Everything I read did not disappoint. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy going, the food and service is outstanding. Was hesitant at first to take my partner for his birthday because it appears as a small neighborhood cafe but the food and service were beyond our expectations. For seafood fans, there is a selection of "catch of the days' and you can order them blackened, broiled, poached etc then have them finished in your favorite sauce (I had the butter/lemon) and this experience was $16! My partner loved it and we'll be back again....absolutely certain.

Fresh fish, prepared the way you want it!

By Karen W |

My husband and I wanted to find a seafood restaurant that was off the beaten path ie not Fisherman's Wharf. And we were really happy we found this little gem in the Alamo Square neighbourhood. We went on a Wednesday night, which is free corkage and had booked a table for 6:15pm. It was not busy but quickly filled up within an hour. The menu is not extensive and not surprising given the name, most entrees are seafood but one of the specials that night was pork. But I would not suggest this restaurant to anyone who didn't want seafood/fish. We started with the calamari appetizer and it was very good. For the entree I had the blackened snapper and my husband had the swordfish. The fish was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned -just enough spices. The mixed grilled vegetables and rice were a nice complement. We topped it off by sharing a tiramisu and were totally happy with our meal and it was a fantastic price to boot. Highly recommend and we would definitely return when visiting San Francisco

Neighborhood gem

By AJ D |

We went here to celebrate our anniversary on a Tuesday night. The intimate space was not even half full which is sad because the food was top notch and the wine list had a lot of good selections. Service was casual and intermittent which may explain the small number of people eating there.

A must-visit restaurant

By aed00056 |

A must-visit restaurant whenever I'm in town. A small dining area with big time entrees. The fish entrees have always been moist and flavorful. Although "seafood" is in their name, I've enjoyed extremely well prepared steak and chicken dishes. If your on a strict budget, inquire about their diner specials from 5:30pm to (I think) 7pm. Make a reservation and enjoy the best of San Francisco.

Great food

By Bill D |

Enjoyed dinner with 4 of us, the food was amazing delicious and well presented, 3 enjoyed the price fix menu with 3 courses, all fish, wonderful. But, unfortunately the service was the worst experienced in a long time. 1 waitress was doing her best to keep up but with being a full dinner time, just couldn’t. There was a trainee too, but seemed to be restricted to drink orders and serving them. Overall too bad because I count on great service and it was just all annoying and almost comedic, just how bad it all was.

Very overrated

By haddad007 |

Visited tonight. Had a 8:15 res. Got seated immediately by Andre in a very robotic way. Next he came for drinks and said nary a word. Bread arrived 40 minutes in. BUT wait the wine glasses were dirty. Not only ours but the table next to us and then the third table. Incredible. This freaked us out where the rest of the evening was ruined. My app the tuna carpaccio was fishy, my main of grilled sole was tasteless. My wife's food was no perfect.

Good but not great

By Martin W |

We ate here before an opera, and it is well-placed for the opera house, symphony hall etc. Perhaps eating so early in the evening meant that they hadn't got into the swing, but the food was a bit variable: nothing unpleasant or inedible, some dishes really nice, others very ordinary. It's probably best to order the specials; my wife had a whole fish the name of which I forget which was apparently excellent. I had swordfish from the regular menu that was just about tasteless and gave the impression of being a bit tired.

Great food - slow service

By Travelaholic44 |

We had a lovely meal here. We booked online beforehand which I'd recommend. There seemed to be around 4 tables waiting to be seated for the entire time we were there - it gets busy so booking ahead is definately a plan. Slow service unfortunately as there simply isn't enough staff so be prepared to wait. We'd go back but when we had more time.

Amazing food and lovely ambiance

By americagirl22 |

We visit san francisco regularly and stumbled upon is little restaurant three years ago. We have been back three times and every time is great! Although the name might suggest otherwise, this is not a touristy place at all. The restaurant has a very local feel and ambiance. The food is amazing! Elegant french cuisine Try the sword fish in beurre blanc sauce....you will not be disappointed!

Delicious!

By Jessica B |

Go on a week-night because they will be less busy. The food is delicious and I would listen to their recommendations if it's your first visit.

Overpriced.

By KateandSteve |

We enjoyed our "risotto", but I was puzzled by it, as it didn't taste like arborio rice and the texture was quite unlike any other risotto I've ever had. The shrimps were beautiful but the chilli was a little overpowering, which compromised the more delicate flavour of the shrimp. My other problem was that the wine was ridiculously overpriced. $11 for a relatively small glass rather reduced my enjoyment of it It was our first night in the city and we didn't want to walk too far to find a place for dinner, so we more or less ate here by accident. Although it was fine, we found better value places to eat for the rest of our trip, with food every bit as good, if not better.

Don't miss this little gem of a restaurant

By mtns2coast |

The service was great and the food was even better. We both had the prix fixe dinner the night we dined here. The first course was your choice of either a dinner salad or celery soup. My husband's salad was a simple bowl of mixed greens, very fresh with a tasty balsamic dressing. My cream soup was brilliant. Next we had the main course, consisting of grilled salmon and mixed veggies with rice. Delicious. Lastly, we were treated to a dessert of bread pudding. I am finicky about my bread pudding, having grown up on my father's recipe, and I have to say that this bread pudding was excellent. You are probably thinking that this incredible meal must have cost us and arm and a leg, but no...we had all that for just $14.50 apiece! We did not drink any alcohol with our meal, but it looked like they had an extensive wine list. Don't miss out on this little neighborhood restaurant. We were hoping to return for another meal but our wanderings kept us from being able to make it back there. Next trip to SF, we will surely return!

Great crab cakes and tuna!

By Grainne Marie M |

Arrived here on a busy Wednesday evening, and though we unfortunately had to wait outside for quite a time, we were given a complementary glass of wine which was appreciated. The food was really excellent, I was very impressed with the crab cakes and also the pan seared tuna I had, and my partner really enjoyed the mussels and the fish he had too. Wasn't overly impressed with the wait staff, who forgot to bring us clean cutlery between courses and also brought a different bottle of wine to what I ordered, but were very gracious when I pointed out the error. Quality of the food overshadowed these little things though

Great Food

By Dutton_PhilaSuburbs |

We loved the food - well prepared and so reasonably priced. A great neighborhood find (call ahead to find out where to park so you don't leave due to parking frustration). It would help if they had more waitstaff to decrease the wait between courses. I couldn't take the wait to order dessert.

Great Local Place

By Travelwestport |

Spontaneous family gathering required a place that could take a reservation for 12 people on a Saturday night. Alamo Square was able to accommodate us. The food was fresh and delicious, the service outstanding, everyone enjoyed their food selections, seafood, vegetarian, and meat meals! Look forward to returning.

Great food but lack of service with a smile

By Helen_9101 |

The food was brilliant - lovely fish etc - quick and really tasty. Would recommend. However, we were served by a very surly man - he wasn’t very accommodating or pleasant to be honest. He didn’t smile once - and was edging on rude. Would go back if the service changed!

Excellent food!

By aed00056 |

Our party of six was pleasantly surprised by the high quality and flavorful taste of every entree and appetizer. The restaurant is small but the single server did an excellent job of getting the orders correct and to the table as soon as possible. Two servers probably would have been beneficial but then the prices would most likely be higher. Be patient and enjoy an excellent dining experience. A must try eatery!

A Nice Restaurant

By lavonnemy |

This seafood restaurant was recommend by friends. It is in a nice neighborhood close to the famous "painted ladies" Victorian homes on Alamo square. Several of us had the pre fix dinner which was a great deal. We bought our own wine and the corkage was not bad. I think they were training people as we had to ask for bread. Our server was right there with the meals. I would go back again .

Fantastic food and wine!

By GreggDavis |

Easy walking distance from the Chateau Tivoli. We started with a Kir Royale and a Kir Imperial - we highly recommend the Kir Imperial (champagne & blackberry liqueur). Our entries were superb as was dessert. We will be back the next time we're in San Francisco.

Lovely neighbourhood restaurant

By Clive F |

Very nice little neighbourhood venue. Only about a dozen tables, with a small but very tasty menu focused largely around (no surprise) some very tasty seafood. I had crabcakes to start (very good), the snapper (fish very good, the green peppercorn sauce was a little bland), and then a most exquisite floating island - the best dessert I have had for many months, bar none.

hidden gem

By 442markc442 |

This restaurant is close to the painted ladies but off the main path, a great place to dine with locals. It was charming and small. They offer a special board daily with 4 appetizers and 4 entrees. In addition to the specials, they also over 4 fresh fishes, that you selected how its cooked (sautéed, grilled, baked or poached) plus your selection of sauces. The desserts were also very good,Try the flourless chocolate cake, please. the service was warm and attentive. Have recommended it to friends with live in SF. Will definitely be on my list of best of San Francisco. The entrees, with the exception of steaks were all under $20.

Understated high quality

By sfojws |

I've eaten here a number of times now, and the ASSG has always hit it out of the park. The fish is fresh and well-prepared. The service has always been appropriately attentive. The wine list is short, but very good. The portions are generous enough to satisfy, without leaving me feeling overfed. And, this is important, the desserts are unique and wonderful. Last night, we had the prix fixe meal of the day, snapper with a beure blanc sauce, served with fresh vegetables (steamed or boiled to perfection, still slightly crisp) and seasoned rice. I had the salad, my friend had the soup. Dessert was a meringue with strawberries. The calamari were irresistible, and the portion of this appetizer was enough for two. All of this comes at prices that are very reasonable. The restaurant is small, and easy to overlook on a residential block, but well worth the effort to find it.

Excellent Food

By Sherri M |

I ate smoked salmon salad with capers, husband ate blackened trout with rice and veggies. Wonderful food, good service, reasonable prices. I highly recommend.

Neighborhood Favorite - Perfect Fish at a Nice Price

By Drew C |

We are fortunate to live just down the hill from this restaurant and it has become our go to place perfectly cooked fresh fish. Though the duck when they have it is also amazing. The concept is very simple. You pick your fish from what they have fresh that day, typically salmon, sole, trout and tuna. Then you pick your sauce. We love the salmon blackened (not too strong or really so black) with butter sauce. But everything we have had and we have had everything on the menu has been delicious. The calamari appetizer is dangerously addicting! The wine list is good with various specials early in the week including no corkage Wednesdays if you want to bring your own.

Delightful meal and cozy atomosphere.

By Danold |

The menu was original and fresh and value priced. Service was a bit slow and the space is tight, but this is a perfect place for neighborhood regulars.

Excellent seafood and a nice atmosphere

By Matt T |

Had the tuna special and it was absolutely tremendous. Friend had the steak and he said it was very good as well. The atmosphere was warm and cozy -- great bench seats by the front window. Very reasonable prices and large serving sizes, which is a combination I almost never see in this city. Definitely will be back!

Good Place in a Bad Neighborhood

By rcb1948 |

Restaurant is 3+ stars. Neighborhood is dangerous. Tiny neighborhood place near Alamo Square Park/Painted Ladies. Predominantly fish on the menu. Choose your fish, chose how it is prepared (poached, blackened etc.) and choose sauce. Good, not great, food. Reasonably priced. One waitress in entire place. She did a great job. Place was half full. Might have been different story if place were packed. Wine was okay and average priced. Neighborhood is very sketchy. Our car, parked across the street and up a block and a half was broken into. I am told this is very common in this area of SF. It ended up being a very expensive dinner.

Finally, fine food in San Fran

By 40something2008 |

This being our third night in San Francisco and having had 2 mediocre, at best, restaurant experiences, the fine food at this establishment was very welcomed. This small unpretentious, bistro style restaurant had a very local feel and was situated down the street from Alamo square on a very quiet street. Ken, the waiter, bus boy, greeter was good at all tasks including the menu suggestions. Everything our group of six ordered was amazing. We had chorizo mussels, mussels meunière, crab cakes, fried calamari, and mixed green salad as appetizers and all were very very good. As mains, we ordered the blackened red snapper with beurre blanc and seasonal veggies and the seared tuna on a roasted pepper sauce, with wilted spinach and butternut squash & potato gratin. Both were super fresh, well prepared and delicious. I would definitely go back.

Delightful neighborhood restaurant

By RPMc |

We liked everything about this small, comfortable restaurant. We arrived in time to take advantage of their prix-fixe menu--an amazing value at $14.50 for three courses. Everything was delicious. Service was friendly and responsive. Excellent wines were available by the glass at reasonable prices.

Great dinner

By yankeefan911 |

Fun, casual neighborhood spot. Very good seafood, simple and tasty presentation. Wife and I both enjoyed, plus it was half off wine night. Good deal

Amazing find!

I found this on Trip Advisor and it was definitely worth the drive! Amazing salmon dinner for a fair price. This is one of our must visit restaurants in San Fran!

Nice Dinner Off the Beaten Track

By Baxter451 |

A very nice dinner at an out of the way bistro. For their fresh fish (the night’s options were trout, salmon, snapper & sole), you get several choices of preparation (grilled, sautéed, etc.) and several choices of sauce. I had the grilled snapper with Buerre Maitre d’Hotel (garlic and parsley butter). Large portion, perfectly cooked. Most surprising thing was the price – less than $20. Dinner companions enjoyed their appetizers and entrees. An unusual dish (not listed on the menu that's on their website) was seafood pasta with a blue cheese sauce, which sounded a bit dicey but was actually quite good and not overwhelmingly cheesy. Shared a tarte tatin for dessert – excellent caramel sauce. An excellent value and neighborhood gem.

Delicious food. Wonderful service. Near Painted Ladies.

By TravelerWithOpinions |

We had a wonderful dinner at the Alamo Square Seafood Grill. There were 9 of us. We ordered different entries and we were all very satisfied. The waitstaff was very helpful in advising us about the best options for each dish (which sauce, grilled or not, etc). Be sure to save room for a slice of the flourless chocolate cake. It is one of the best we've ever had!

Local Flavor in a Great Neighborhood

By Oceanfriend9 |

Well prepared seafood as part of a complete meal, with service with a smile. My favorite neighborhood cafe for a nice meal with friends and out of town guests. And the Floating Island dessert is perfect after a fish course!

Good quality fish

By dvh |

After a week in California my wife wanted to go for some good fresh fish (no sushi or seafood plattern though). We found it at Alamo Square Seafood. Good choice of fresh fish, prepared the way we wanted ... and on top at a very reasonable price. Combined with good service, and a good dessert ... it felt like a decent European restaurant. I highly recomment to visit the place.

Good food but poor in other areas.

By TREVOR S |

We chose this restaurant because of its reviews. The food was generally good, although why they put bacon in a clam chowder is beyond me!! Unfortunately, the cutlery was dirty and this should be addressed. The wine was excellent and on a Tuesday all glasses are half price! The fish main course was very good, but the waitress failed to tell us what it came with and we had to ask. We chose the 3 course special at $17.50! Incredible value, although the menu didn't say it was limited to certain dishes, nor did the waitress. Dessert was also limited, but the waitress again omitted to explain that when she reeled off all the choices! She managed to take orders from the entire restaurant without writing anything down! This is a recipe for disaster! With a bit of attention this could be very good and outstanding value. Sorry, but not there yet!

Tasty fish ,friendly service

By Jan-Maarten G |

NIce atmosphere, friendly service. We visited with kids - they loved the sole and the deserts. Fairly priced and located in a friendly neighborhood, just one block down from the 'painted ladies'. Well worth your evening.

Fabulous Dining experience

If you really want to enjoy sea food in grill format, its a must to dine at this joint wherein quality & quantity is awesome coupled with excellent service.

Great food for a great price

By jplight |

As a frequent traveler to San Francisco, I make sure to visit this restaurant every time. The pre fixe is always worth it and the food is amazing without a doubt. Ask the servers for not only their wine recommendations but also what their favorite dish to eat. I have never been disappointed.

A good neighbourhood restaurant

By Richard P |

We ate here on a recent visit to SF and had a very enjoyable meal. Starters of salad and crab cake were good - the crab cakes looked over-cooked but actually were very crisp and tasty, and the salad could probably have done with some dressing, but was fine. Similarly, the main courses of fish were tasty and well-executed. Staff were friendly and the restaurant has a nice, cosy feel to it. Overall, a good experience and I recommend it.

Food was OK...Service Extremely Poor!

By WisconsinsFinest |

Had Christmas Eve Dinner here with a friend. Chose ASSG due to the TripAdvisor reviews. We were disappointed. We had the Prix Fixe 3 course meal. All courses were good. I had a mushroom bisque and scallops entree. The bisque was delicious and the scallops were good. The third course was a dessert. We waited for an hour after our entrees dishes were cleared, and the staff had yet not taken our order for this course. We felt we were being ignored as the tables around us were receiving attention, where we were not. Finally I flagged down a server, who did apologize and offered us complimentary wine. Once our desserts were brought out, they were both good, but we were the last party in the restaurant, having been ignored through the latter part of our meal. Definitely not worth a trip from Union Square based upon the lousy service. We would have been better off not making the trek to Alamo Square.

Great little spot

By Inthetetons |

We came here for dinner after seeing the good reviews. Our fish dinners were fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious. The server and staff both were very nice and helpful. A violin and accordion duo showed up for some surprise entertainment - really cool. I don't often take the time to write reviews, but wanted to share my good experience.

Eat here tonight

By johnpconnolly |

My wife and I were there early enough for the chef’s special: nicely dressed green salad, delicious pan fried sole with rice and medley of vegetables, tremendous French bread with an olive oil and garlic dipping sauce, and a very tasty meringue. The cost was only $18. Tremendous food at an incredible price. The rest of the menus items looked amazing. Go and enjoy...you will not regret it!

Tasty seafood

By Anne L |

Simple tiny restaurant. No fine-dining, but simple good food. Mostly seafood, but some portions of meat too. You can choose a fish, sides and sauce. Fish was fresh, sauces tasty. We were happy to get vines for half the price.

Delicious Dishes in this small neighborhood restaurant

By GinkoBoston |

This is a small restaurant - seats maybe 30 people with an interesting menu of both meat, veggies, and seafood options. The wait staff were lovely. The special seared Ahi tuna with broccolini and smashed potatoes was delicious. My husband had the Beef Bourganoun (sp?) and licked the plate. Dessert was a molten chocolate cake. The background music was soft jazz and the noise level was OK for conversation.

Go on a Monday!

By CasaRoscoe |

We visited the Alamo Square Seafood Grill because it was close to our accommodation and because of its high ratings. Although we had a good time, it was not an evening that merited a "5" rating. Food was tasty, but not inspired, and the steak on the menu (offered as an option for non-pescatarians) was overcooked. That said, this place is the type of cozy and friendly place that anyone would welcome in a neighbourhood. We were delighted to learn that on Mondays the wine list is half-price.

Wonderful!

By PlanetR |

Wednesday dinner brought own bottle of wine no corkage fee. The complimentary bread with garlic pesto dipping sauce was really good. Shrimp cerviche was delicious. Salad with oranges and apples was a nice light, and fresh tasting starter. The ahi special with asparagus and butternut squash terrific as was the salmon. The place is cozy with a warm atmosphere. Played a lot of Motown music. Server was very friendly and covered the whole place single handedly. Leisurely dining experience. The prices were incredibly reasonable. Highly recommend!

Superb experience (again)

By Dennis P |

My wife and I dined here 5 years ago and had to go back. This is a neighborhood place and so, this being San Francisco, the parking was a challenge but we lucked out with a spot just down the street. Remember to turn your wheels against the curb on the hill when parking! It was a Monday night so we enjoyed a half-off bottle of wine with our meal. My clam chowder was perfect (NE style) as was the red snapper with a green peppercorn sauce. My wife's sea bass was also delectable. The waitress was exceptionally helpful with recommendations and was super friendly - we felt like regulars and right at home. This is exactly the type of place I enjoy - excellent food and wine, great service, and local flair. Can't miss.

Enjoyed our anniversary in place with ambience and great food

By john l |

My wife and I enjoyed the charming setting for our anniversary. We did not mind the noise when the restaurant got filled up shortly after we settled and placed our order. She had seafood pasta while I had Mediterenean Fish Soup. We shared the salmon over salad while the chef took time to prepare every dish. All dishes are delicious including the bread dip and spread. With this find, we'll be coming often.

Great food!!

By nwhiteiii |

This is my second time eating at Alamo Grill and it didn't disappoint! I had the crabs cakes and veggies and they were perfect. I will be going back the next time I visit San Fransico.

Awesome Food and Service

By Butch J |

We went to see the painted ladies and I was starving. So I looked to see where the nearest restaurant was so we could eat and it happened to be Alamo Square Seafood Grill. None of the four of us are seafood lovers but we were hungry. The meal started off with the bread and their pesto dipping sauce and we were floored at how good it was. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and the steaks and chicken and it was all amazing. That was our first meal in San Francisco of our 4 day stay and it was the best food we ate. My steak was prepared perfectly and the garlic butter sauce on it was fantastic. At the end they brought us a free desert to share which was a nice touch. The waitress was very good and we spent quite a bit of time getting tips about touring the city. We will definitely return next time we are in the City and will wish we could eat there far more often. We also found the prices to be very reasonable.
