Visiting this cafe was a last minute decision following our hike to the Hollywood sign and after visiting The Griffith Observatory. I should mention that this is in very close proximity to both of this sights. Parking was a little tricky, however we were able to find ample space on the street behind the property. They do offer valet service if you are looking for a worry free parking option. The property is exactly our taste for an afternoon lunch. The cafe has an incredible tiered patio, which allows for an intimate corner or a larger group. They also have a few different types of seating arrangements including outdoor couch seating. There is inside seating which has a modern/almost retro feel. Once you arrive, you order at the front counter and a number is provided to you. The servers were very friendly and we did not wait long at all for our lunch. We ordered both a salad and sandwich which were both very delicious and refreshing. I would recommend their iced tea, though we did see a full bar. Great refreshing stop for lunch!

This is a "hopping place" busy and bustling. Parking is handled well in this busy street by their valets. I don't want to focus on the drop off and finding a parking place so I appreciated this. You order at the counter inside the cramped interior but move outside to the spacious courtyard and side yard and food is brought out. Good food. Delicious food. Good drinks. Good coffee. This is the sort of outdoor seating which works well in southern CA but no so well elsewhere. Sun umbrellas were large enough to help with the sun and service was attentive and helpful. We left behind only clean plates but the smoked salmon plate deserves special mention. Also be aware they do crepes, one of my sometimes cravings.

Finished visiting the Griffith Observatory around 10pm and needed a place for a late night dinner. This was the perfect spot. Parking was a little easier to find later in the evening. It is an interesting mix of a bar/coffee shop/bakery. The weather was perfect so we are outside in the charming patio space. The Chai Latte was great and the New Zealand Lamb sliders were very tasteful. The order of sweet potato fries was huge and could feed a family of four. Overall good food with a great vibe.

Awesome spot on a beautiful day. Lots of outside seating with some in shade. Atmosphere appealing. Excellent service and tasty food. Nice brick exterior. Tasteful decor inside.

Their menu hasn't changed in forever. The food is uneven, it seems, from one visit to another. The Buffalo Chicken wrap that I had last visit was terrible; the time before it wasn't bad. The chicken smelled and the wing sauce used was horrible. Their cakes slices (actually from a local bakery, unbelievable dense and rich) saved the day for us, because they're big enough for two, or even three people to share. But what irked us on our last visit was what happened after a server brought a dish to the table and set it down forcefully or heavily (kind of dropped the side she'd been holding onto the table) and the small metal container of salad dressing went "plop" and a large oily dollop bounced out of the container and landed right on my wife's new slacks, before she even had a chance to put her napkin in her lap. Clearly, this was a stain that would not come out easily. The reaction of our server was apologetic, in a half-hearted kind of way, i.e. "Sorry, s--- happens." We let it go for the time being, but after the meal when my wife felt compelled to mention something at the register, the reaction was downright dismissive and just plain rude. My wife was ticked off to the extent that she asked for the manager, who made things right in the end. The Los Feliz (Hillhurst) location and the outdoor seating of Alcove save it. If it were anywhere else it would have closed long ago because really, it's just not all that anymore.

The Alcove is a Los Feliz staple set in a beautiful outdoor garden. It can often times be very crowded, especially during weekend brunch, but the ambiance is wonderful and you'll really get a taste for the neighborhood vibe. Prices range but don't fee obligated to get a full meal if you're strapped for cash. You can always get a tea/coffee and a pastry or split a meal with a friend since the portions are huge. There's also an adjoining bar (Big Bar) within Alcove which has fantastic drinks and bar bites.

What a great spot for breakfast! I had the breakfast quesadilla and it was really great! My son had the pancakes and they were delicious, covered in fresh strawberries. They coffee was good. Enjoyed the outdoor seating area and people and puppy watching. Just a lovely morning.

A very good experience for us. The terrace is a perfect place to spend time, the food was very good and the staff super friendly. I recommend !

We have tried multiple dessert & always delish! Today we devour lemon cheesecake. Light & fluffy w/ a bright tartness🤗👍

If I'm going to go to a restaurant and paying these prices ....i don't won't to wait in a line to order and then wait in another line with my beverages for a table! I finally get an available cashier and she walks away from her register and proceeds to have a conversation with another employee. Finally another cashier is available and she just gave me a blank stare and then looked away. After waiting in a cramped area for my coffee I proceed to another line to wait on a table. Not pleased or impressed with this establishment. Get my food ( the breakfast enchilada) and it was mediocre at best. Don't waste your time....

Lovely place to have breakfast in Los Angeles. Pancakes and omellette are delicious, as well as smoothies.

This might as well be the best patio in LA. Beautiful, large, airy, perfect for a date or a small gathering. They got everything from coffee/tea to wine and beers, as well as sandwiches and burgers. Located in a hip neighborhood close to many other cool bars and restaurants.

This cafe is lovely - such a beautiful, peaceful, garden location. Lots and lots of seating (mostly outdoors). A very large menu. Accommodating staff (we had some requests to adjust the menu for our needs). My husband ordered the meat lovers omelet - yummy, with toast and potatoes. I had the rancheros benedictos (I did NOT like the mozerella pupupas - way too much cheese. Would have been better with a regular english muffin) and our daughter had the parfait. Coffees were pretty good (not amazing, but we're very picky about our coffee). It's reasonably pricey and the portions WAY too large for us (about 40% bigger than we could eat). Order at the bar and find your seat. In a very hip part of town. I'd return - with a VERY empty belly.

Visiting from out of town, my cousin (a local) took me to this place for dinner. Stepping off the busy street and across the threshold, we were transported to a private, twinkly oasis! We ordered inside which was a cute little shop with the hint of more seating inside beyong the lobby (due to Covid Policy all dining is outdoors for now). The outdoor dining area is gorgeous and the perfect spot to catch up with friends and wind down. The food was great, I had a club sandwich and the portion was HUGE! The wine was chilled to perfection and I picked out a pastry from the case to enjoy for dessert.

Situated in the cute Los Feliz neighborhood. Lots of outdoor space in a lovely garden. Salmon tacos packed a punch and really hit the spot. Crab & shrimp omelette was massive. Would definitely go back again.

Loved my dinner here, all of the food (including dessert) was delicious and the cocktails were great too. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the outdoor seating at night is pretty and welcoming. My server was great as well; very accommodating and friendly. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Went here the other morning after seeing a recommendation on here. It took me over an hour to walk but was so so worth it. Exceptional service and the food was out of this world. A beautiful location and a very very good cafe.

The restaurant has good-quality food and a pleasant atmosphere, but the prices are on the higher side. It's a nice place to work with reliable internet, but the downside is that it gets very crowded and noisy. Additionally, the menu seems to have more options for brunch, rather than other meals.

My wife guided me to the Alcove during a recent trip to Los Angeles, noting that it received high rankings for brunch/breakfast food. It certainly lived up to its ranking. I ordered a breakfast burrito which was very good, except for one small detail. I ordered the burrito with no beans, which may have prompted them to fill the burrito with extra cheese (that or the burrito was super cheesy to begin with) I'm not a huge cheese person, so this was way too much for me, even my wife who enjoys cheese more than I do admitted it was a lot. Thankfully it was easy to remove the excess, and the burrito, complete with fresh pick de gallo and fresh fruit was very good. The restaurant certainly had a nice atmosphere and if the weather is better on our next visit, we will certainly take advantage of their charming outdoor seating area! Looking forward to a return visit!!

Following a day at the Griffith Observatory, a friend and I went searching for a place for dinner. We loved the outdoor seating, which was perfect for an early evening visit because the sun was already past the back of the building and there was a nice breeze that came through the courtyard. They offer valet parking for a fee but we just parked on a side street for free and walked a block to the restaurant. The staff was helpful and customer service was good. There was some confusion about ordering a half-in-half dish - apparently you can't get certain combinations which just seemed silly. Ordering is done at the counter and they give you a table number to take with you. Delivery of food was quick. Portions are a good size. Food is delicious! I really liked the charm and atmosphere of the place and the food was excellent. This is a great place to stop while in LA, definitely a nice place to eat after a visit at the Griffith.

Situated in a bungalow in Los Feliz, the Alcove has a wonderful ambience for a relaxing and delicious meal. My husband and I went for breakfast on our most recent trip to LA and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Breakfast Panini and Breakfast Burrito. The portions are quite big and we could have easily shared. We sat in the "living room" of the bungalow and it created a warm - yet unique - atmosphere that fits with the Los Feliz neighborhood. There is also outdoor seating which looked very fun as well. We can't wait to come back again!

We had benedict, panini and omelette, all were great! Overcrowded on Sunday 11:00 am, wait time is around 30 mins. Plates are very big, better order to share. Coffee served upfront, gets cold until dish comes. Overall very pleasant place, highly advised..

My wife and daughter had Eggs Benedict. They said it was great. I had a bagel that can with a mountain of cream cheese. It wasn’t toasted enough so the manager provided a properly cooked replacement ALONG WITH fruit and a pecan pie (as an apology). The atmosphere is perfect. No crowd on Friday!

Ate breakfast here a few times in the past week as it was near a B&B where we were staying. The staff were very friendly and the ambiance was great but the food was hit-and-miss and sometimes only fair at best. Let’s be honest- what is there about “well done toast” that is hard to get right or getting the eggs, toast, bacon and tea all arriving hot and at the same time? When I asked to speak to the manager at our last visit the waitress wasn’t even sure who it was and despite asking to talk to him/her, nobody turned up. I didn’t make a fuss as life is too short. Expect little and you won’t be disappointed but you will enjoy the atmosphere.

We ordered 3 desserts and they were terrible. The chocolate pecan pie was so stale, that when you tried to cut a piece with your fork, it nearly flew off the table. (Reminded me of that Julia Roberts movie!) The cheesecake was over-the-top rich and the chocolate cake was nothing exceptional & was actually on the dry side. Overall, not impressed & won't stop by for coffee & dessert again.

I don’t often give 5 stars, but this deserved it. The level and attentiveness of service was over the top. Even if the food had not been ridiculously fantastic the service would have necessitated its own 5 star rating. I strongly recommend the fried chicken sandwich or/and the short rib melt. Save room for any desert. They’re stupendous. We’ll done gang!

Loved this place! I had heard and read several recommendations for Alcove - they are well deserved. Great food, excellent coffee in a massive mug, and really warm and friendly staff. I sat outside and it was terrific!

This place is always busy. Best to go on off hours. Everything I have had has been very tasty. Generous portions. Casual patio dining and some tables indoors for those that don't like to sit outside. Bakery goods are wonderful, but according to several people that work there, they buy from boutique bakers and don't bake their own. not sure if this is correct information, but would love to know. Baked goods are delicious however and whomever make them....a little pricey...but then again what isn't?

Food really great right down to the avocado. LA restuarants sure do serve alot of lemonaide. This is an outdoor cafe

I was visiting for the weekend and wanted a nice place for my friend and I to meet my nephew and his girlfriend. This place was their suggestion and I could not have been more pleased. I had the shrimp and crab omelette. She asked what kind of bread with the order and I was so pleasantly surprised that they had the best GF bread that I have ever had. We spent a couple hours visiting and enjoyed mimosas and bloody marys while catching up on our lives. My friend and I thoroughly this place and would suggest it to our friends and family.

Arrived during peak hours but the service was prompt and friendly. The luncheon special was a beet and citrus salad which was beyond words! They also has a Swedish "Princess cake" and I took 2 slice's home which was delicious! Large selection of draft beer! Comfortable outdoor seating which was fun to people watch!

They have about 20 different kinds of cakes and I'm not even exaggerating! Their garden is lovely and it does have heaters so no need to worry even if the temperature drops during the evening. The salads are huge and very tasty. I will definitely return if I come back to LA.

First the good: the location is lovely inside and out, the staff friendly, the espresso drinks perfect. Now the bad: the food was beautiful but very disappointing to eat. Eggs Benedict came with really runny, clear egg whites which watered down the Hallandaise and made the whole plate into an unappetizing and potentially dangerous soup. My husband said the breakfast burrito was the worst he’d ever had—full of chorizo and egg but strangely flavorless. The breakfast potatoes were weird, whole, tough skin; would be so much better if they smashed them and got crispy bits. The potato chips and dip were burned. We sadly left so much food on the table when we left.

It is hard to stay away from this place when visiting LA. Most of the seating is outside and plentiful. There is also some indoor space, but it is limited. Staff is very friendly. Orders are taken inside and then brought to your chosen table when prepared. Everything has always been excellent. Portions are large.

This is great place. Though very hip and Hollywood it still maintains that neighborhood vibe. Lately, I have been enjoying the fine beverages hand crafted at the bar. Check out the specials that are posted daily.

Spectacular place with a lot of variety and everything delicious and well cooked, it has some cakes that take away the hiccups but very well made and not at all heavy! We went twice for lunch and dinner. They have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. Different options at all times. The two times we went we found people interviewing others, people from the cinema, people working with their laptops in video conference, actresses talking about their jobs... very Los Angeles! It is also in a beautiful neighborhood: Los Feliz and it has valet parking for which they charge you $10. The staff is very attentive and the interior and exterior decoration is great.

Went here with coworkers and fell in LOVE. The decor, the ambiance, the service, the food, even the bathroom is beautiful!! The best eggs benedict ever, great coffee, quick service, the desserts looked amazing but I was too full to have one. They had one called the red velvet ding dong - a chocolate covered red velvet cake in the shape of a square that just kept staring at me and I just couldn't! All the dishes ordered were amazing, fresh, great portions and great prices too. Highly recommend this place. Parking is a mission if you get there before 10 am. After 10 am they have valet parking available, but if you don't mind walking you can find parking on the street.

A group of us had brunch/lunch on a cool, sunny December day. This is a charming, friendly homey restaurant and bar—if you were to conjure up your ideal “Southern California restaurant”, this is what you’d come up with! The staff are unbelievably friendly and the food is excellent. I had the huevos Benedictos which was great. Most tables are outside in a very charming courtyard. Valet parking is $7.50. I didn’t have any dessert but they all looked great. Highly recommended, it deserves the hype.

Love dining at Alcove. The food and service are always fantastic and you can't beat the outdoor setting...so relaxing and beautiful. Great salads and sandwiches, and the desserts are as delicious as they look. It's a wonderful hidden gem that locals love.

Very nice patio and a lot of seating. It’s very expensive for what it is but good size portions. Their grilled cheese is really good but their salmon tacos were so spicy it was impossible to enjoy them. Same issue with the beans. (Inedible) And no indication that this entree would be spicy. Very weird.

Visiting LA this past weekend, we stay in the Los Feliz area instead of the beaches of Santa Monica. This was such a great find for the neighborhood. Great selection of breakfast items that were well portioned and oh so tasty. If you are in that area, stop by for one of the best breakfast places in town.

This is probably my favorite breakfast place in the area! So glad to be able to come back and eat for a second time and hoping it'll happen again soon! Met a friend here and it was a gorgeous morning so we sat outside after ordering our delicious breakfast entrees. We both chose omelettes but mine was by far the "star!" If you like seafood you must try their Shrimp and Crab Omelette. Not only does it contain yummy seafood but they top it with hollandaise sauce - this takes it to the delectable level. I skipped the toast choices and instead opted for extra potatoes and let me warn you these aren't your ordinary potatoes. I'm not sure what they cook them in but they are worth every bite!! Beverage choices offered are delicious as well - both house coffee and flavored teas are highly recommended. And of course I cannot forget to mention the amazingly beautiful dessert case. I was too stuffed to eat something there so opted to rake 2 slices to go. Choosing the Godiva and a slice of the Americano, both cakes were very good but the Godiva was out of this world!!!

Cute quaint bakery with random celebrity sightings. Food is pretty good but I expected better since so many well known people frequent here.

This is one of my favorite places in LA for lunch or brunch It is a very relaxing and comfortable place to eat and have coffee The coffee is wonderful and the menu is truly amazing and fresh The guacamole is fresh and light The sandwiches and brunch menu are portioned very well and the food is flavorful The only is parking that is a bit of a nuance They have valet parking but If u prefer to park yourself , finding a spot in that area is hard Also if u go for lunch or brunch on the weekends. Go early or getting a table will require a wait

The food wasn't the best but it's fine..no real complaints. The desserts on the other hand are fabulous! I had the blue velvet cake and it beats the red velvet cake. I'd love to go back just for the cakes!!!

I love their breakfast, I love their bakery and their lattes are very good. They have a rich menu and the patio has really nice seatings. Street parking only or valet on weekends. Highly recommend this place if you're in Los Feliz

On a busy sunny holiday, we dropped in unannounced, for a late lunch – a group of 12, including six children. After only a short wait, they organised a table, in a pleasant side courtyard. The menu caters to most tastes, and the cashier happily noted any minor variations/requests, to meet the demands of young palates... Each of our choices was generous, and delicious – including a couple of cake selections, held over for dessert. All the coffees and other drinks were excellent. The service was very friendly, helpful and reasonably efficient, considering our numbers. Perfect spot for a casual breakfast or lunch.

After scouting out several places in the Los Angeles area for a brunch party the morning after a wedding, we were supremely fortunate to receive a recommendation for the Alcove Cafe and Bakery in the Los Feliz area. The bride and groom had visited a few other venues and tried the food but were not satisfied. But after visiting the Alcove, they rated the food as excellent and that proved to be true for our brunch event. The prices were also more affordable than other places visited. We held the brunch in the Historic Cottage behind the cafe and had the whole facility to ourselves. There is valet parking (at $5, reasonable for LA), the cost of which we covered for our guests. Everyone in our party loved the venue and raved about the food! We offered five choices on specially printed menus--all items delicious--and the Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros were particular favorites. There was a separate lower-priced menu for the children. Also we ordered for each of the tables fruit platters and warm croissants from the Alcove Bakery, which were a big hit. The other outstanding feature of our experience with the Alcove venue was our association with the Event Coordinator, Josh. He was a pleasure to work with every step of the way--offering helpful input, accommodating our suggestions and needs, and communicating regularly and promptly. In short, he's superb at what he does. Our server, Liz, was solicitous, and warm and friendly in her interactions. Our experience was with the historic cottage but most people go to enjoy breakfast or lunch on the outdoor patio. That looks like a great setting.

The menu is great, the service is great, the drinks are great. Don't miss the truffle fries and the Brie Panini!

If I could, I would come here every day. This place is like a magical garden hideaway with the cozy patio nestled under trees. I absolutely adore the ambiance of the patio! I have tried their coffee, and I would stick to simpler coffee drinks here. Their vanilla latte was delightful! I have never tried a dish I didn't like here! I've been for breakfast/brunch and dinner. I've had a scrumptious chicken salad and delicious breakfasts! If you have a decent sized party with a handful of people who love cheese, then get the cheese platter!!! The smaller size is plenty to share as an appetizer! It is so wonderful! I am obsessed with cheese, so I was in heaven!

Ahhhhhh, I just love this place! It is located in a quirky house and has a great menu. I love salads, and this has a great variety of salads to choose from. I loved the steak salad I got this visit. They are not limited to salads however. They have great looking sandwiches as well. They serve breakfast, but I have yet to be there in the morning to try that. We have eaten indoors, but during pleasant weather, it is great to sit outside for the full Southern California experience. The outdoor tables are among trees and landscaping in the front and side yard. They also have great looking desserts if you have the room. I am always impressed with their generous portions of cakes as I am a cake fan. The varieties offered is staggering....lilac, key lime, almond, Boston Cream, berry, lemon poppy to name just a few.

Lots of outdoor seating. Order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. Reasonably priced good food.

Alcove has a great atmosphere, very relaxed. You order at the bar then sit at a table. I had the Huevos benedictos, it was good but a little dry, needed sauce. My boyfriend had crab cake Benedict and finished it before I’d even looked up!

This place is SO cute! I love the patio! I went with a friend after a long hike and we decided to indulge. I ordered the chicken, peanut satay salad, AND a lemon cupcake. :) My friend ordered a piece of buttercream cake, and it was as big as my head! The cute boy behind the counter warmed it up. It was ridic!!! So good! The staff, start to finish, are wonderful. They have a great group working there, and some exceptional customer service. Lots of smiles, how can help you's, etc. For EVERYONE. You guys rock! :) The only bummer was the salad. The chicken was super dry, the peanut dressing was bland, and the arugula was really bitter. I only had a few bites and pushed it away. Bumzilla. Although that left more room for my friend's cake and my lemon cupcake, which were both phenomenal. Will be back and soon!

We came for a late lunch after visiting the Griffin Observatory and were impressed by the quality of the menu, pricing, cake offering and overall vibe of the place. We sat outside where there were little birds hopping around and ate a veggie burger (very good), mac & cheese side, sweet potato fries and angus sliders. All of it was great, service was relatively quick. We also had some of the fresh smoothies, which were nice.

Adorable cafe and bakery. Very friendly staff and amazing breakfast! Highly recommend the Cobb Omelet!

I always come here for breakfast / brunch, which is the most popular time at Alcove. Service is fast, friendly, and impeccable. Food is great here. I love having coffee in a mug at this restaurant, huge mug! If you are around the area, give it a shot. You’ll love this place, I promise! It’s like having a meal at in a beautiful garden!

This is one of the best places. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Great food. would highly recommend to anyone in the area to pay a visit.

Had a wonderful coffee and cinnamon swirl before my hike at 0700! The staff were so friendly and helpful, they run a limited (although varied) menu early on in the morning-would still cater for the majority! The full breakfast/brunch menu is fantastic, and I wish I could have sampled it! Definitely recommend, lovely decor and atmosphere!

This was my first time at Alcove, and will not be my last by a long shot! Warm, friendly servers, incredible menu and incredible treats! I had a tuna salad on their wheat bread and fries. Every thing was absolutely delicious! I left with cookies that were amazing!

This is a great Cafe & Bakery in Los Angeles. It also has a big bar for fabulous house drinks. The patio is really nice and cute and it is a great area to sit in and have your lunch or dinner. We were there for lunch and we had great food and had a wonderful time. We ordered alcove house salad, burger with grilled onions, roasted chicken sandwich, and turkey pesto panino. They were all amazingly delicious and well prepared. Before I forget, they also have a great selection of cakes and pastries. Highly recommend Alcove Cafe & Bakery and will go there again when in the neighborhood.

The food is good and hefty, their Turkey panini and salmon burger is worth the gastronomical investment. Very good quality. I am not very enthused about their ordering process of having to go to a cashier, order and pay, get a number and wait for the serving staff to deliver. It somehow goes against the grain of the ambiance of the place although many of the clients seem to accept it unless they are there to be seen. Their waiting staff are very efficient in cleaning up tables and picking up dirty wares thus why not go to that one level of training them to receive orders... Take that out of the equation, the quality of food is above standard. The garden is excellent for meals.

A robust Bloody Mary (or other refreshing cocktails) and a hearty egg dish make this bright sunny space a popular brunch stop in the trendy Los Feliz neighborhood. Great service and reasonable prices make the wait and crowds bearable.

Good food and service! You literally walk up and wait in line and can review the menu. Once you pay, order is brought to the table. The seating outside is a little cramped, but the weather was amazing so no real complaints! GREAT service :)

There is always a line, and it's worth the wait. Yummy food and their coffee drinks and lattes are delicious. Love their outdoor seating area. Go in order the food and they'll bring the food to your table. Try their pastries😉

What a fun place. We came here not once but twice while staying in Los Angeles, during a short vacation. We came across it by chance while walking around in the Los Feliz neighborhood. It was one of those moments when you realize you are on vacation, you have only had a late breakfast, forgot about lunch and suddenly it's time for an early dinner :-) Alcove Cafe' is beautiful space with a welcoming and lush outdoor seating area. It beckoned us. We each had a glass of rose' champagne and shared an order of fries and a salad. It hit the spot. And a couple of days later, we decided to come for brunch. The eggs were delicious, the coffee was warm and tasty, the cafe' was bustling. Everyone was in a good mood. Even when the weather got drizzly and cool, they turned on heating lamps outside and extended garden umbrellas. We left nourished and happy.

Great to have all day breakfast as well as all other options. Service prompt, good coffee and food tasty. I and enjoyed the plentiful alfresco areas. This is a great spot to enjoy the sunny LA weather. (I absolutely loved the restrooms!) Highly recommend

Went here after hiking across Hollywood Hills in need of some good grub and stumbled across this place. Pilsner was on happy hour (bonus!) and the food was great

We've been there several times and we keep coming back. We had brunch there this past weekend. There were four of us with a wide range of appetites, so we got four different items, ranging from simple to complex - and the results were all wonderful. The eggs/omelets were perfect, the bagel and tomatoes were all fresh, as was the bowl of fresh fruit. They server vegans and carnivores with equal aplomb! A lot of their tables are outside, but all in the shade. It was 95 degrees outside, but we were all wonderfully cool under the shade. Make sure you stop by this great place. (Yes, you need street parking, but we've never had a problem with that!

When outdoor dining was finally allowed again here in California (seems to change by the hour), we decided to meet our friends (and traveling partners) Kim and Mary, along with their daughter Macaire, at Alcove Café & Bakery in Los Feliz (a hillside neighborhood of Los Angeles). Because it was dog friendly, Kim and Mary’s dog Fenway also joined us. The restaurant is located very close to Griffith Park, so you could come here after taking your dog for a walk. We (and the corgis) enjoy the hike at nearby Ferndell Trail, where you can eventually hook up to trails that ascend to the Griffith Observatory. Alcove takes no reservations, so we arrived shortly before its 9 a.m. opening to be first in line. There was ample street parking at 8:45 a.m. on a Sunday morning. The brick patio encloses a quaint Craftsman Bungalow (two bungalows actually) and is shaded by mature trees. Tables are scattered on the patio and surrounded by baskets of cascading flowers. Alcove’s patio provides a peaceful ambiance for a casual breakfast experience. Breakfast is served until 5 p.m. To allow room for ample social distancing, orders are taken inside one party at a time where the wait staff was all masked and gloved (the food is then delivered to your outside table). Walking inside we were pleasantly surprised by how cute this restaurant looks. Glass fronted cases are filled with bakery offerings. Gleaming antique silver serving pieces abound, even on shelves around the ceiling. Tracy inquired of our server, “Who has to clean all the silver?” Apparently they have someone who comes in to clean and polish. And polished it was. And the bar area… borrowing a phrase from Kim, is “felony cute.” Our group grabbed a five-top in the side garden since we had Fenway with us (don’t tell Frankie and Remi, they were sleeping in). While waiting for our food to arrive, we sipped coffee on the patio and caught up with Kim and Mary, as we had not seen them since the March lockdown, and to discuss whether we would have to to cancel our forthcoming trip to Portugal in September. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros; three grilled corn tortillas layered with three eggs over-easy, black beans, chunky ranchero sauce, avocado and cotija cheese ($15). This dish was really good, with just a hint of heat in the chunky ranchero sauce. And, oh, those rosemary potatoes! Scrumptious! Tracy surprised us all by not ordering the Chilaquiles Rojo and instead opted for an omelette with griddled red onions, spinach and Emmental Swiss cheese ($16), which she thoroughly enjoyed. Both of our meals came with potatoes and toast. Kim and Mary each had the Country Breakfast served with three eggs any style, lemon ricotta pancakes with pecan butter and choice of applewood smoked bacon or chicken-apple sausage ($16). Kim said the pancakes were light and delicious. Mary loved her chicken-apple sausage. Macaire ordered the Avocado Toast with a poached egg, tartine country bread, avocado, pistachio salsa matcha, labeneh, chili oil and parsley ($14), which she also said was very good. By the way, the key to a leisurely breakfast at Alcove is to arrive early. When we left 90 minutes later there was a line curving down the street waiting to get in. Hopefully, when dine-in meals are again allowed in Los Angeles County, we’ll return to Alcove Café & Bakery and sample a few dinner and dessert items, as well as sip some champagne during their Happy Hour while sitting at that “felony cute” bar.

Having walked down from Griffith Park, we decided to stop for lunch in Los Feliz. This place looked v inviting; nice setting with lots of outside tables. Lots of interesting-looking cakes & fruit salads and things, too. Lunch was fine - nothing special but fine. I got the impression this place might be best for breakfast or brunch or snacks but it's worth a detour.

We started with the spicy Bloody Mary which were good. I had the carnitas omelette so good. Truffle fries were so tasty. This place is crowed so make sure you are not gonna faint to eat. They said they are first come first serve. No reservations. Service was great especially considering how busy they were. We sat outside and enjoyed the shaded garden.

Our daughter took us to one of her favorite spots, the Alcove Café, which is a very popular place. Parking in the area is limited so we valeted the car. Line was long, but worth the wait. Found a great table on the patio. Enjoyed the nice weather while we waited for our order. Food was very good, portions were large. Overall a very nice lunch experience.

This review is for the bar area: The cocktails are crafted with love here. I had a happy hour bourbon special sour, shared 3 beef sliders and a gargantuan side of fries to accompany the cocktails! 2 cocktails and all that food- $27! The sliders were very tasty-perfectly cooked temperature wise and had very well seasoned toppings that includes lots of sliced avocado. We sat out at the outdoor patio which is really cute: lamps, benches, plants, etc. The bar area is also very nice and there are a couple other tables that line the store openly connected to it- a bakery! Didn't get to try any pasties but there was a constant long line so that's a good sign that I will need to return.

Great atmosphere. Great staff. Great food. There is simply nothing wrong with this place. We had the tuna melt, buffalo chicken wrap, oreo muffin and and amazing slice of cheesecake (heavenly creamy).

Alcove, Is a very special restaurant. We enjoyed everything about the experience. The Short Rib Sandwich; My Wife is a critic with short ribs. She loved every bite of the half sandwich as the portions are generous enough to bring home. Myself; Fish and Chips and I loved how it’s skewered, easy to eat and Alcove you knock it out of the park! Probably the best I have had,,, seriously!!! Let’s talk about the BIG BAR. It’s a Chemistry Experience in a Cocktail. Presents well and Drinks even better… 😂 Just going there for a cocktail is like going on a vacation! I need to give Lis our server a shout out. We became friends at the table and her service made our night even better ❤️ We will now make Alcove a regular dining experience. Cheers

While visiting with friends in Hollywood, I had the pleasure of taking in brunch at Alcove. Loved the outdoor seating area, but the food was what was really special. I went with an old-school order, eggs and home fries and toast, and everything was flavor-full and scrumptious. They also did a fantastic job with my iced latte. Definitely a great spot to try out for brunch while you’re in LA!

This is a very hip spot in Los Feliz. Almost brunch-perfect spot, really. And with that comes the queue of people lining up to try it. The place is big enough for one not to wait egregiously long in order to find a seat, and the menu is vast enough to keep you entertained while you wait to order. One thing though, is the people in the kitchen are working extremely fast and hard to keep the steady flow going and in doing so forget small specifications to your coffee and food. That's the only complaint, but everything else is good. If you're lucky, just make sure they have the details down.

Great food and beautiful setting. Tucked into a grove of trees there is plenty of outdoor seating with a great view. Had breakfast here and returned for drinks another day. Healthy options galore!

Fun quaint outdoor eating area, with good food especially sweets and coffee drinks. Very popular, valet parking or street parking if your lucky

As a local Angelino this pace is one of my favorites. Their outdoor ambiance and location is everything ! For those who don’t want to bother with street meter parking there valet for $7. Close to most attractions in LA and Los Feliz is a cozy town to hang out. I love their food and of course the drinks!

We met up with a friend here for breakfast while staying in L.A. I'd recommend an early breakfast, because about an hour after we arrived, the place was packed. One of the downsides is there is a lack of parking. We had to park a few blocks away on a residential street. The food was good and there was quite a unique variety to chose from. There were several vegetarian options as well. It was a bit pricey...typical for the area. The dining area is nice and cozy and mainly outdoors. They are also dog friendly...our friend had her dog with her and was able to bring him in since most of the seating is outside. It's a nice place to meet up with friends and have a good meal.

Highly recommend the Farmer's breakfast with black coffee.Indoors seating is best, although outside is nice as well. The red velvet cake is the da bomb...

My friend and I stopped in before going to a concert at the Greek. Great spot! Amazingly friendly host who sat us in the perfect spot on the patio. The food was delicious and shared ... start with those deviled eggs, they're not to be missed. Quick service and a delight.

There is always a line and limited seating! Go early, park somewhere far away, and trek to this private and rather hidden location. Although it sits on a main street, there is no parking lot. Peeking at it, you can't see much because there is a bit of walk to reach where the actual shop sits. Not to mention, there is always a line to reach the counter. Once there, there are desserts on display with plenty of food options. Waiting for your food to come out takes some time and you will likely be tempted to buy more later after staring around for a while and watching the food of other people come out. Thankfully, the servers are friendly and understanding. Returning to your seat and finding your party may sound like a hassle but it's not that bad. There is front and back seating, with a small restroom. It's clean enough, and there are many people just minding their own business so no need to worry about how others see you. Their food is SO SWEET but has an unhealthy feel to it despite being rather healthy. I prefer their vegan and veggie options and they don't mind you moving tables and chairs for your party. Dog friendly, weather friendly, and people friendly, this spot is a MUST for visitors to seek during their trip if they have the time!

Great place to take a meal at the time that you want ! Fresh and good that’s all want you want in a pretty place !

I love the Alcove! The food is amazing, and the people are very nice. The only problem, and the reason I only gave it a "very good", is that sometimes space can be a problem, and it can get crowded. Parking is always an issue in Los Angeles, but they do provide valet parking.

The food and service is always good here. Great menu, delicious drinks (alcoholic and non-alco). Beautiful patio seating under the trees.

Delicious food and really nice setting! You order on the counter, pay, take your drinks and sit where ever you want. The food is brought to your table. We had sandwiches and burger it it all was really yummy! :-)

Love this spot. Outdoor seating is best but they have indoor options. Highly recommend the focaccia sandwiches - but be warned - everything here (even the "small plates") are huge portions! Even if you think, "oh that's small" dig in and you'll see. Highly recommend sharing here. Also save room for desert. Note: the service is great but they do not wait on your table. You order then they find your number. A turn off to a tourist, but a local knows for the price and the food - that minor detail is not a deal breaker - trust this picky New Yawkuh when I say "Go Here" and then go back!

My daughter and I happened upon it last weekend and decided to go in. Oh my gosh, what a surprise! The food was off the hook! I had the best chopped salad, ever. Fresh ingredients, flavor, and great service. My daughter had the blackened Salmon Tacos. Extraordinary! They were packed and now I know why. Will go back very soon.

Great food and setting... long lines service is just average. Very good combo with a Griffith Park 👍🏼

My order was wrong and overcooked, wife order was also wrong. They offered to "fix" things which we appreciated but declined since original wait for the food was longer than anticipated. Definitely wont be back not a great experience.

Oh boy! If you go to LA looking for "American" portions, look no further than Alcove on Hillhurst. Tucked away in a largely residential area of Hollywood, this place is a gem! The sweet potato fries are to die for, and it's worth noting that a single portion will probably serve two. Fantastic atmosphere, really welcoming.

The place is very nice, and the food is ok. The portions are massive, good place to enjoy with friends.

Alcove Cafe is located in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, in Hipster town. This outdoor cafe is very inviting, with its home conversion to a cafe. Inside the home you order your coffee, pastries, salads, etc. A number is given to you, then you proceed outside to the front patio and find a cozy seat under light wrapped trees. The site is gorgeous at night. Tonight we order 2 Cappuccinos and 2 slices of cake. Salted Carmel Chocolate Cake & Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. The Cappuccinos are served in bowl size mugs and the generous serving of cake will have you sitting for a while as you try to finish it off. Both cake are delicious and I highly recommend. In the past, we've had the CHEESE TOWERS with an assortment of cheeses, fresh berries and crackers. It was very nice to enjoy with a glass of wine. This is a must go to location if your every in the area.

Love the food and the atmosphere. Salmon tacos were great! Wonderful outdoor seating with heat lamps.

A beautiful cafe, we stopped by after dinner for dessert and coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious. There was no line when we visited (late night during the week) but we understand it stays busy (and can definitely see why). A great place to go when sightseeing near the park and observatory.

Delicious food, warm atmosphere, friendly crowd ,we ate a late dinner after visiting Griffith Observatory

I visit my son and family in Los Felez several times a year. We enjoy food, service, and outside atmosphere at Alcove. Parking can be a problem but the do have valet. Easy for anyone staying in Los Felez as it is within easy waking distance. Not a big space so go early for breakfest. Lunch and dinner available. You will enjoy yourself. Moderate prices for LA.

We had a very nice breakfast . The patio is awesome and the food is always good here! We have been here a few times and always love it.

This is a casual restaurant where you place your order and then wait at a table for the server to bring it. The food is fresh, tasty, the menu varied and they are willing to accommodate to dietary needs. The service is great. The only problem is getting a table at times since the restaurant is so popular!

I almost hate to chat about the HH at the little bar at the Alcove. The sliders, french fries, and hummus are not only a great deal but kind'a sensational! For brunch, for dessert, for coffee. This place has nailed it for over ten years. Bravo.

I just ordered a takeout order and they almost forgot $4 worth of chicken I ordered but luckily they caught that. They did not catch the $2 of avocado I ordered and did not get. Disappointed and may not come back. This place is tasty but pricey so I expect to get what I pay for at least.

On holiday from Wales UK, called in on way back from the Griffith Observatory, what a great little find, stopped as it looked busy outside, great vibe, nice area to sit outside, food delicious, cakes to die for, nice bar area and staff are super friendly, would highly recommend to anyone in the area to pay a visit.

Order from a eclectic breakfast and lunch menu and food is brought to your table. Lots of outdoor seating under umbrellas. I’ve been here before and this time we found an indoor table in air conditioning. The small dining room is very cute with lots of vintage mismatched furniture. The desserts are stunning. They do refill coffee for you. A great neighborhood find.

Open from 6am-1am. We went on a Thursday after a trip to Griffiths park observatory. It was about 2-3 miles from it. A great late night hang out with plenty of seating for big groups. They have a great unique menu for everyone. Ordered: Lemon cake, lava cake, lava cake crunch, mint tea, chamomile tea, Italian blackberry soda, ceviche, mini albacore tuna burgers, lamb skewers with chimchurri mash. everything was yummy. prices reasonable. Service: friendly and quick

We enjoyed a fantastic lunch sitting on the lovely outdoor patio! You order inside and then they bring it to your table. The brie cheese and apple Panino from the lunch menu and the Panino Americano from the breakfast menu were both fabulous! He also enjoyed a blueberry scone, brownie, and Godiva chocolate cake. Their bakery selections were rather extensive. Our entire party enjoyed the whole experience immensely!

Went over to this vibrant restaurant and bar on Hillhurst avenue, post a visit to the Griffith observatory. The place is warm and friendly and beckons you, in a street full of a variety of eating places. There is valet parking and a lovely sit out area with tables under umbrellas. In California style you go in and order after paying, are given a number on a card to display at your table, and the food is brought to you.The paying beforehand was disconcerting, as you have to tip before you know how the service is going to be! I waited till the meal was over before going in and putting the richly deserved tip for the excellent service in a glass jar .We were not too hungry, so ordered only some white wine, which was excellent, and a glass of excellent beer, both brought over by the bartender himself. The fries we ordered were excellent, a bushel of them it seemed, served with an outstanding in house herbed tomato sauce along with a similar tartare type sauce. We also had the fruit and Nutella crepes, which had little fruit, abundant Nutella on slightly heavy crepes. All around us people seemed to be enjoying their choices, though we unfortunately couldn't eat another morsel. The whole place promised so much more though, so we will try to go back again.

Alcove is one of those places you can always count on. The outdoor seating area is honestly the best part. It’s tucked away, shaded, and feels calm even when it’s busy, which makes it perfect for a long brunch or catching up with friends. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were light, not overly sweet, and really filling. We also grabbed a latte and a pastry from the bakery case, which is always dangerous because everything looks so good. The vibe is relaxed but still feels like a go to neighborhood spot, and the service was friendly without being rushed. Definitely a staple if you’re in the area.

The alcove is an order and eat kinda place. You walk up and place your order at the counter you are then given a number and help yourself to your own table. The servers then run the food to you. The menu is huge and the portion sizes are even bigger, one salad can easily be split between two people. I had the crab cake sandwich which was to die for! The prices are between $10-$15 and they have a free water bar at the checkout counter. The place is also a bakery and coffee shop and man did the deserts look delicious.

Wonderful variety of food choices and the desserts are so tempting. Pick dessert first so you have room to eat. I chose the spinach salad and added salmon. Homemade balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. Homemade lemonade was refreshing and cafe mocha to end was delicious along with chocolate cream wedge encased in chocolate. Reminded me of a yodel. Great spot to eat inside or out...seems to be pet friendly.

Just how adorable can this place be! Fell in love with the esthetics first. So charming. Looks like an old Hollywood home turn cozy cafe. Eclectic furnishing. Paintings and a ton of antiques. And the food is simple but delicious and comforting. Desserts are a must. Will be back for more. So beautiful stop by for a breakfast burrito yum. I had a Latka with lox of course!

Having outdoor brunch at the gardens in Alcove is a joy of California living! The garden is pretty, the people watching is great, the menu has tons of delicious choices, the food comes with a nice bowl of fresh fruit. I'm particularly impressed by the efficient system where you order at the counters, present your number to the maitre-d, get seated and then your food is brought to you. This way on a busy day I don't need to wait for the waiter to come around, bring the menu and then wait for them to come again to collect the order. It probably reduces the number of waiters needed too which is helpful a pretty packed place. Anyhow, great neighborhood place for brunch!

Friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere. We went there in September for lunch, the salad was amazing, nog overpriced. I would definitely go back there!!

Informal place with mostly outdoor seating. Moderate cost and interesting menu and great desserts. Try the bread pudding. One serving can feed 2 to 3.

Everything in the bakery looks absolutely AMAZING! The food I ordered (tuna sliders) was cooked exceptionally well. They also serve specialty alcoholic drinks, which seemed pretty pricey to me (coming from MO) at $10+/each, but they were worth it. Combinations I've never even heard or thought of. The outside seating was beautiful. I just loved this place!!

This is our favorite coffee spot, wine and cake. We absolutely love this place. Not cheap, but worth it.

Came by here a couple of weeks ago to celebrate the girlfriend's bday. We dropped in around 9:30ish and there was already a good crowd but luckily empty tables were still available so no waiting at all. Although there are a few tables indoor, the majority of the seating area is outdoor making for a pleasant sunday brunch atmosphere. I ended up with the crab cakes benedict. The eggs were to overcooked for my taste and that toast was incredibly thick. You can see and taste some of the crab but there wasn't much. It was mainly just breadcrumbs. I've definitely had much better. I did like the fruit bowl that came with the meal. The lady got the salmon benedict which was much tastier than the crab cakes. Just smoked salmon on hashbrown. I've come to the conclusion that good non fast food restaurant style hash is something to avoid. And that goes for alcove. Their hash has this nice crunchy exterior but the inside was mushy. It's not their fault, but it's the thickness of the hash. Still, can't beat McD's hashbrowns. Alcove is an interesting little restaurant. It's a nice place to relax on a sunday afternoon with friends and enjoy a decent meal but there are way to many brunch places in LA to try out before I'd ever think coming back to Alcove.

In addition to pretty good food, people seem to flock here for the outdoor seating. They have a great, shaded, huge patio. You wait in a pretty long line to order, and then go and pick your table, and the food is brought to you. We came with a baby, and they let us be seated first since it would be harder to find an appropriate table. Everyone's food was very nice. Several vegetarian options (breakfast served for a long time is good for that. I had breakfast enchiladas for lunch). The tacos were apparently also very good. The worst part of the restaurant is that they have 2 single person bathrooms, for a very large restaurant. Be prepared to wait!

This place has been on my daughter’s list as a place to try for a while. We decided to go there after hiking up to the Griffith Observatory. It’s only .6 miles from the trailhead at Parking lot B. I worried about parking and finding a table on a busy Saturday morning but it went super smoothly! We found a metered parking spot on the street right by the Albertsons up the street. Turns out they have valet parking so we would have been okay. Once there, we went inside and ordered. Once we ordered, we took our number back to the guy at the front who found a table for us. It was so nice to not have to stress about where to sit. The menu is amazing- kind of a blend of traditional breakfast food with a Mexican twist. We shared a breakfast burrito that was the best! Black beans, cheese, eggs... perfect! My husband had the Carnitas Omelette. It came with corn tortillas, roasted potatoes, black beans, and an omelette loaded with chorizo, chilies, and cheese and topped with fresh guacamole. He loved it! The vanilla lattes were delicious also. The colorful tables and trees around the outdoor patio were the perfect setting for our post-hike breakfast.

One of the most exceptional breakfast places around, a little pricey but excellent quality, steak and egg benedict is fantastic

Everytime we go to L.A. we go to alcove for lunch. Parking is very easy and free around. The garden is so nice and you can sit where ever you want as long as its free.food is so fresh and the raspberry tart so wonderful. The choice of cakes is great! Servers are nice and so helpful as we were a french couple from Tahiti.

The Alcove is cozy, friendly, and delicious. It's a comfortable environment, with a great variety of food to please everyone. Upon entering, you are welcomed by the assortment of dessert, and the tempting wine offerings.

Nice place for good food at reasonable prices. Very good dessert with a large selection. Worth s trip just for the deserts. You do have to deal with a pseudo hipster clientele, but it is worth it,

A local favorite in MY OWN neighborhood. Its relaxed and there is no hurry here....just avoid the weekend brunch hours as it gets a bit of a line...also great for just desert and a tea or coffee.

You walk from the sidewalk onto a stone-paved pathway through a patio shaded by trees to the the counter where you place your order. There’s a glass case of baked goods, breakfast is served until 5 (what!!), and there's a good variety of salads, sandwiches, wraps and such for lunch and dinner. They're fine with substitutions -- I was able to get fries with my carnitas tacos instead of rice and beans. On a Monday at noon there was a small line to order and we readily found a table outside. (There are tables inside, too.) Even though It’s on a busy street, you don't really hear the traffic, I was with two friends and we could hear each other easily and had a great conversation. It was a relaxed vibe, no twitchy people hovering and coveting your table or giving you the evil eye if they think you're taking too long to eat. There's street parking, but they also have valet parking.

We always order the egg benedicts for breakfast - it comes with a small bowl of awesomely great fresh fruit - i love the ambiance of the outdoor patio - sometimes you will see a celebrity but the food and service are outstanding - my most favorite place of all - this is in Los Feliz on Hillhurst Avenue. You are totally relaxed and feel like you are in heaven.

Moved to the Bay Area years ago so I always come back to the Alcove when visiting LA. Today as always, never a disappointment. 5 star amToday. (The interior and gardens are so perfect) , 5 star service (so friendly and helpful) and you can tell they do not spare expense on the food. An overall experience you rarely see today.

We recently discovered the Alcove Cafe and Bakery on a trip with friends to Hollyhock House. There is table service indoor and out, or you can line up to order at the counter. Alcove also has a bar, called big, and a bakery. We opted for the limited table service outside under an umbrella. Our servers were upbeat and friendly, and our food was delicious. We all opted for different meals. I had a wonderful brunch offering: potato pancakes with smoked salmon, topped with a poached egg. My drink was a lemon/champagne concoction, small but very refreshing.Everyone liked their meal. It was crowded when we were there on a weekend, so I think it may be wise to come early. So happy we stopped.

large menu, something for everyone, large portions, fair prices, all in a gorgeous outdoor patio setting

From the entrance, you can tell this place is just awesome. They've created an atmosphere that's super warm and welcoming - you almost feel like you're eating in someone's backyard (we ate outside, duh). I had the omelet with chorizo, mushrooms and pepperjack (nom), my stepmom had a salmon egg thing, my dad had the pancakes (or maybe it was waffles) with blueberry syrup and I have no idea what my sister ate cause I was too focused on my huge mimosa. I'll try to find my picture of my meal and post it, but everything was delicious. I loved that they had fresh baked treats and we took some cake to my grandma. I would definitely return when I'm back in the area.

After a long Hollywood hike a well earned meal, semi self service where you order and pay then wait to be served, food is beyond tasty

We had the country breakfast and the florentine crepes. Both pretty yummy. The hot chocolate was really good,I loved the whip cream and the huge cup. Fun setting too.

We spotted this place strictly on curb appeal driving down Hillhurst after visiting Griffith Observatory. We parked for free on one of the side streets and walked over. It was fairly late in the afternoon so the line was pretty short. All indoor seating was taken so we sat outside. The tables needed to be wiped off and the banquets really were in need of some TLC. The food was really good. It was Mother’s Day weekend and they had some really cute cookies they had made special for the holiday. Really well done. Prices a little high for the products offered.

This restaurant is extremely busy during weekend brunch hours. You will definitely have to wait in line to order, and you may have to wait to find a table once your order is being made. That being said-the selection is broad and the food tasty. My companion and I waited for a short time, but comfy seats made it OK. A variety of seating options from bar-height with stools to standard tables to plush chairs are available. The chicken Florentine crepe and turkey avocado breakfast sandwich were both delicious.

I visited with 13 friends after touring Hollyhock House. Knowing they don’t take reservations, I called The Alcove and told them of my plans. I was told to just call that morning and they would try to accommodate us, which I did. When we all arrived, they had set aside a long table for us on the patio in a lovely quiet space! We all ordered food, it was brought quickly to our table, and it was all delicious! I was very very happy with our entire eating experience!

Its a very nice place. Though it’s quite small, it has a special touch of nature i think. Love their cakes especially the apple caramel cake?? Loved their meat wraps.

I love the venue. Inside is interesting and several little "coves" you can "hide out" in but I prefer the outdoor patio. There are lots of seating opportunities outside and it's an interesting spot for people watching and celebrity spotting as well. As for the food: Oh me, oh my! If you want good coffee and dessert, this is the place!! Large mugs of most excellent coffee and the desserts are to die for. Hands down, one of our favorite places.

My wife and I stopped by here for lunch after visiting the Griffith Park Observatory. We were pleasantly surprised us at this eclectic neighborhood hot spot! They had a good wine list and the tuna melt was fabulous... you have a choice of ordering at the counter and grabbing a table or being served by a waiter / waitress. We opted for the service and it was very attentive and pleasant. We highly recommend it. While inside tables are fun, the place to be is outside on the patio where you can enjoy good weather, nice Ambiance, and plenty of people watching.

Great ambiance in this bar/bakery/coffee shop. Try the cheesecakes. Sit in the heated patio, very relaxing and nicely decorated.

My family has been coming here for years and when we heard there was a new chef and menu , a bit excited to try , the guacamole still rocks but , but a bit too smooth for me , prefer the guacamole to be a bit more Chunky, but the fried chicken sandwich to be honest was a bit disappointed, pretty much over fried , small piece of chicken , and dry. So not happy with the sandwich, but my dads eggs and pancakes and my brothers salad both were quite good

We went here on Saturday 09/26/15 at 1:30pm, ate outside on the patio. It was a warm day about 85 degrees outside with the sun shinning bright. We went inside to order our food, it was warm standing inside in front of the cashier, apparently no a/c was on inside. I ordered a vegi burger, my cousin order a blackened chicken salad, we both order ice tea, and one order of sweet potato fries. It all came to a whooping $47.35 WOWEEE!!! just for that??? The bun on my vegi burger was steal and hard, and those sweet potato fries are "overkill" enough to feed 10 people. The rest of our entrees were so-so and not really a value for the high price of lunches. I could have gone to the Habit and gotten a more tasty vegi burger and sweet potato fries and ice tea all for under $10. There was also so many flies flying around at our patio table outside. Crazy!!!

We were in town for a Dodgers game, and were fortunate enough to find the Alcove. We had a wonderful breakfast (huevos rancheros, and an omelette) with mimosas. Perfect spot, great food, kind staff. Thanks for making our baseball weekend even better.

Found this on a whim for lunch when we arrived in LA. The food was amazing the place is charming and has wonderful outdoor seating.

Had a late breakfast here after Sunday Services a few times. Love this place! Nice patio table. The attendant was helpful and made sure I could go up to the counter to order while my friend waited at the table. Nice servers. Large portions! The menu is in West side style though. Which is a little different from the usual. Had Huevos Rancheros and loved it! If you like breaded catfish you'll like what my friend ordered. But, a little too breaded for here. Sit outside and people watch like we did! Friendly servers. Parking is vale which is a good idea because street parking is limited.

We went on a Friday night -- I ordered the Brie & Apple focaccia sandwich and side salad. It's easy to order...you do so at the counter and they give you a number on a stick to put on your table and the waiter finds you. Super easy. The outdoor and indoor vibe was hipsterish and cool. The sandwich was so delicious and fresh. They had heat lamps to help with the chilly evening air when we ate outside. The cakes looked delicious although I didn't try.

This is one of our favorite places to have lunch. I love their veggie burger, salad and they have great fries. My partner loves their bean salad and huevous rancheros. If you've got room, you should try one of their fabulous homemade desserts, big enough for sharing with 3 people, but you might not as they serve generous portions. It's not cheap but the nice portions and relaxed, tree-filled outside dining area makes it worth it.

I love dropping in for a cupcake or the delicious buffalo chicken wrap. The omelets are large and delicious. I'm particular on how my toast is done but the staff always smiles when I send the toast back for one more round under the heat. And speaking of staff... Alcove has some of the nicest, cutest staff around. They are so pleasant and helpful and always glad to see the regulars, which I am due to my once a week visit. No matter how entitled and grumpy the typical LA customer can be, the folks at Alcove are always professional and pleasant. The food and desserts are good, but the service is excellent.

Good find for a leisurely brunch. The place was pretty packed on a Sunday but the table availability seemed to match the need. This is no typical diner menu with shrimp & crab omelet and crab cake Benedict. Parking around there is tough but they do have valet. Staff is attentive and efficient and the place is able to handle a large volume of folks without seeming to break a sweat.

Friday afternoon outdoor patio was lovely. Full bar, smoothies, tea/coffee, and salads are a great addition to any lunch meal.

After visiting Griffith observatory and taking pictures with Hollywood sign as background, it is a convenient stop to grab lunch from Alcove. We went there because of the TripAdvisor reviews and the place did not disappoint us. We ordered club sandwich and Alcove Burger, the waiting time was approximately 10/minutes and the food is good. Recommend this place to anyone who wants a quick decent lunch. Avoid the Apple brie panini. Had mushrooms and onions and not like Apple Brie panini anywhere else.

Nice place, would have given it 5 stars but had to send my Crab Benedict back the first time because the bottom of the English muffin was solid black - but it still looked amazing. Quick reorder and apology and I was back eating. The side of fruit that came with it was fresh and delicious with exceptional raspberries, blackberries, pineapple and melons. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you - which seemed a little odd for that kind of place as it feels a lot nicer than that. Besides the accidental snaffo with the burn - the food was delicious and really beautifully plated.

Honestly just go here and order as many slices of cake as you can without embarrassment. They’re so so so good - particularly the Confetti Birthday Cake. Cute space too and they do takeaway

After a day of touring LA our group was hungry and looking for an affordable dinner option. The Alcove fit the bill. The food was delicious and the portions are large enough to share. Make sure you plan your meal around dessert, the cookies and cakes are wonderful.

WOW. Lovely little place, love the atmosphere and openness of the cafe. There is seating outside, along the sides, and inside, but everything's open so no matter where one sits, should be very comfortable. The Big Bar is on the inside, really cool set up. The food was fresh and delicious. I had the salmon big ben (eggs benedict) and it was scrumptious. Fresh fruit on the side, the raspberries were just incredible lil bursts of yummy juicy flavor. The coffee was good, altho that is one thing I didn't like about the setup. Hot coffee gets free refills, but I had to go back to the counter. The fixings are toward the front and it's a long way around to grab coffee and get back to where I was sitting. I would suggest they have someone walk around for coffee refills and set up small stations on the sides so I'm not walking all the way around spilling coffee everywhere. Eggs are from a place in heaven, the cafe is wonderful and worth the trip to have a delicious meal. Excellent, friendly service. Excellent, delicious, fresh food. Excellent, chill atmosphere.

Four of us stopped in for drinks and cheese prior to going to the movies. The cheese platter for 4 was enormous (we wound up taking some home) and tasty. The platter also included fresh and dried fruit as well as candied nuts. Drinks were very good and the service was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back to the Alcove.

I’ve been here many times, and it had been a long time since ai had been….long before Covid lockdown. They have a lovely outdoor garden for eating. Typically you stand in a long line to order, pick a table and your food is brought to you. There were many empty tables and when we asked, they told us they were reserved for the bar, and the food menu for the bar was the same. We kept asking “huh.” I think what the hostess was implying was if you bought alcohol, they would seat you at one of these tables. Of course my friend pointed out that not everyone in this area was “drinking.” Guess what? Maybe they wanted us to stop asking for clarification. They sat us. The food is consistently good here with large portions. A good option for lunch or breakfast. Finding parking in the area can be challenging, but with patience not impossible.

Situated on a crowded road with no parking nearby, at least we had difficulty and parked where we shouldn't! Bar person barked out questions so fast that I couldn't understand them, felt very rushed as if we were in the way. Chose to take away. Food plentiful but did not put the coffee ordered in and found a piece of chicken in the tuna melt, not pleased as I am a non meat eater. However the food was very tasty and given the amount of people eating there is very popular.

We read such good reviews for this place on Yelp but when we came here to eat we were VERY disappointed! I had MOLD on my pretzel bread! When we told the server she said she would contact the manager but the guy that came to our table was NOT a manager! To make things even more unprofessional he asked us what he could do for us instead of telling us what he would do for us! How do you let 2 salads with mold on the pretzel breads leave your kitchen without notice and then on top of that not be professional enough to have the MANAGER come handle the situation PROPERLY?! AT THE END OF THE DAY MY FAMILY OF 4 ALL GOT SICK! NEVER EVER COME HERE! I have enclosed a PICTURE of the nasty unbelievable moldy bread that was served to us!

This place has delicious food (love the turkey/pesto panini) and has the nicest ambiance to sit down outside. It's casual but also very romantic/cute. Would recommend both during the day and evening. You'll likely be standing in line, but it's worth it!

Nice quaint, place. Fast service, tasty food, good size portions. Worth visiting when in Los Angeles. Valet parking $5

Found this via Tripadvisor, and so pleased we did! Beautiful place, eccentric, delightful and great coffee. The food display was gorgeous and so was the coffee. A nice stroll from The Greek Theatre and Wonderful Griffith Park. Please Try

We all had salads and they were all excellent, served with yummy pretzel bread and with the dressing on the side so it could be added as preferred. The outdoor setting was lovely and comfortable, a bit secluded even on a busy street. Next time we'll leave room for the pastries! (Or, if not, there's a great ice cream place down the street.)

The place is adorable...inside and out. The dessert case is a jewel box. I have had pretty decent sandwiches and breakfast here. The desserts are definitely pre-fab and some are pretty good, but, all are obscenely portioned and median priced . Definitely more filler than flavor, for the most part...but, if you're looking for a sugar fix, this works just fine ;)
