When a person has lost track of there phone, you’d hope to be able to be in contact with Simone at the restaurant. Absolutely a disgrace. Also HOW HARD is it to clean a fUkinj filter over the toilets. DO BETTER on the simple things!!

A group of us went out for a night of drinks and karaoke. Our server Matt was excellent. He was personable, friendly, and attentive. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The KJ (Karaoke Jockey) was horrible. When the karaoke opened up at 9pm. We all put in a few songs to sing and even tipped the KJ (it's a pretty thankless job and we like to let them know we appreciate what they do). Well I am sorry to say, that I wish we could get our money back. In the first 20 minutes we sang our first songs each, but none of us were called up again. We were told the wait was about an hour and since the place was packed we didn't mind. After 1 1/2 hours we checked with the KJ, he said we would be up in 30 minutes. Then thirty minutes later, we checked again. Again we were told another thirty minutes. Well we gave up and left at 12:30am. During the 3 1/2 hours we were there several people came and went. Any person who entered the bar and submitted a song to sing was put in front of us, some of them called 2-3 time. Even people who entered the bar at 12:00am were able to get up and sing before us. Because of the awful experience My friends and myself will never return to this place again and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Great stop in after a concert! Still old style Tiki bar and serve great drinks and food! Been here several times and still a fun place to stop. Can get very busy on a weekends!

The decor is 1940's Hawaiian kitch. The food used to be pretty good, but seems to have suffered with the neighborhood decline. Ordered the royal Reuben, which used to be outstanding, but is today half the size and taste it used to be - nothing outstanding at all anymore. Used to be worth the stop - still might be if you didn't plan on eating

It was 3/12/2023. I went in this dive for the first and last time. I had dinner, used their gross restroom, and left. I found my car in their parking lot with HALF a bumper because their drunk customer hit my car and drove away. Their security guard saw it happen, but could not get a plate. The manager tells me only the owner can view the cameras. But she REFUSED to give me his name or contact information. So I ask for the General Manager's contact information. She REFUSES to give me this information. I leave my name, email, and phone number so they owner or manager can call me back. NO ONE CALLS ME BACK. NO ONE RETURNS MY PHONE CALLS. I have to go through public records to find the owner of the bar. I Messaged the owner via Facebook, Instagram, and Phone Calls. But no answer! So I went to his last known residents and knocked on the door. No Answer. I get a call from one of his employees pretending to be an attorney from one of his bars called the Double Barrel Tavern. This fake attorney accuses me of stalking this man's ex wife when I have never met either one of them in my life. I found that this was a fake attorney by calling the "Attorney" number back and getting an answer from the Double Barrel Bar. If you go to this bar, be sure to carry good insurance!

Been open this long for a reason, good food and drinks. Happy hour burger basket and mai tai's are great. Service was quick and friendly, overall not to Portlandia.

We went on Saturday night and enjoyed delicious cocktails (I had the Suffering B*stard - delicious) and also had a meal. I had the kalua burger - mouth wateringly good and I finished every bite. Great atmosphere in here too.

Such a throwback bar--so fun. You have to love thatch and strong rum drinks. And PuPu's-- Have been here many times and it never disappoints. Weekend karaoke is pretty fun. Have some rum and sing, yea that makes sense----well it loosens up the vocal cords. The mai tai's are strong and good, and a zombie is pretty tasty too. Food is pretty good. Lots of fried, but there are some new things on the menu--worth going back to try. Sit in a booth and savor the mood. ALOHA!

I was reluctant to enter due to the strip club vibe; but once i did it wasn't bad. The "island" theme food is rather good (I had the Aloha platter) if simple and very inexpensive. The drinks are strong (one Singapore Sling and I was hammered). The atmosphere is dark but fun. The interior is small but offers a few bar seats and booths of various sizes. The outdoor seating doesn't allow for the Vegas feel of the interior space. The staff is relatively attentive.

1st time here. Love the deco and staff was great. Breakfast potatoes were some of the best ever. Great bloody Mary's too

It has been many years since my wife & I ate at the Alibi. They did have some of the best broasted chicken for miles around. Our waiter said the new owners did away with the chicken but may be bringing it back. We ordered lunch and I had a cheeseburger with an abundance of fries. It was very good & tasty...much better than the salad my wife ordered. We will wait quite ahile before we go back and maybe they will have their broasted chicken back. The waiter said they were heavy into karaoke and we are not.

It's not my cup of tea, but it was a fun place. I guess I would consider it a dive bar. A group of us from work came here to do HH for the holidays. The 'fish bowl' options was comical (very boozy)... as were other drinks. I personally wouldn't come here by my own choice (not my interest) but nonetheless, as a group, it was a fun afternoon. Staff was nice and always checked up on us (though you order at the bar yourself). We ordered one sharable platter, it was fine. This place definitely shows its age but the kitsch tiki decor is entertaining.

This place is over the top cool. They have decent drinks, decent food served in huge quantities at rock-bottom prices. The Tiki theme is fantastic. Go for lunch or dinner. Great karaoke bar too.

It was a bright sunny day when I stepped into the Alibi. I was drawn to this Tiki haunt sheerly by its legend alone. It’s claim to fame? It’s Portland’s Original Tiki Bar. And has been around since 1947. I had heard that The Alibi had been sold by its original owner back in 1991. Sold under the stipulation that– The Alibi was not to be changed. And so it goes that everything inside this establishment has remained almost the same for 70 years. For me this was the allure that attracted me. Would I find a tropical Shangrila that drew returning WWII solders inside? Would the enchanting The melody of Martin Denny’s exotic Tiki music come to life and take on physical form? Soon I would find out for myself. As soon as I stepped through the portal and into the realm of The Alibi. What I saw wasn’t an enchanted Tiki Room. In fact what I saw wasn’t much at all. It was the darkest dive I have ever stepped foot inside. But it had the two things that I needed the most in a joint like this. It had a bar, And it had a Seeing eye bartender. This is exactly what one needs when they find themselves as blind as a bat. I needed to bide my time and wait for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. My seeing eye bartender sounded friendly. In fact he was friendly and very helpful. Since I couldn’t read the taps, he told me what they were. He also told me that it was Happy Hour. That was encouraging and prompted me to order. I sat at the bar sipping my dark beer. Stalling for time. There was an aquarium behind the bar. This I could see. I was being watched. Watched by the stoic stare of an Easter Island Moai head buried up to its neck in sand. Megalithic hoods must have pitched it into depths. Fish leisurely swimming around it. But it wasn’t swimming with the fishes. It just eternally stared. Waiting. Since it was happy hour, I thought I might as well catch a bite to eat. I asked for a menu and my seeing eye bar tender quickly provided one. I glanced at it, but was unable to read it just yet. So I asked, “Do you have hamburgers?” “Yes, we do. Would you like one?” “Sounds like a good idea. Um, do you have Cheese Burgers?” “Yes.” “Okay, then I’ll have a Cheese Burger... and another beer like the one I’ve almost liquidated” “How would you like your burger?” “Medium will do. Just as long as it isn’t still mooing.” He chuckled and asked about the remaining particulars and options that a burger entails. He took care of the order, returned with a fresh beer, and placed the bill next to it. I fished out a Jackson from the back of my wallet where my Jacksons all hang out. “Keep the change, your doing great seeing eye bartender work.” “Thanks!” Slowly the room started to take on shape and form. By the time I had finished eating I was able to see for myself. The room had a cosy feel to it. Tropical island trappings. Interesting lamps. And things hanging here and there that had an island feel. There were booths that looked like intimate places to spend time with friends, romantic interests, or blind dates if they came in like I did. Around the corner from the bar further away the wall was lined with video poker machines. This became my next stop. I fed the machine. Sipped my drink and just chilled while the machine entertained me. The next drink I had was gifted to me by the poker machine. I made a point to tip my seeing eye bartender again. He seemed to be good luck. I took my drink for a walk through this Tiki Lounge. There were island-themed murals. Florescent looking hula girls reminiscent of black light posters from the 60s. There was another section that stretched way back. This was roped off. I guessed that this was open at night when they have their nightly Karaoke. I guess later in the night this place takes on a different feel. That’s probably when the crowd shows up and swills island cocktails. I made a mental note of all this. It might be interesting to drop in again to The Alibi. Say, sometime after the sun goes down. This could be a nice hangout. It definitely had a nice vibe. Operating hours: 11:30 AM to 2:30 AM Every Day Happy Hour: 3 PM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday, All Day on Sundays Nightly Karaoke: After 9 PM Closest MAX Light Rail Stop: Overlook Park Station on the Yellow Line

Gotta say I was reluctant to go here, but this may be one of the coolest places I have ever been. Not quite Kauai, not quite Trader Vic's, but they have Mai Tais and a ton of other South Pacific themed drinks...some in giant punch bowls. Every inch is filled with the island theme. Be sure to venture back and do a little karaoke; all are welcome. Oh..and two words about those Mai Tai's: Po-tent! This is a must stop if you are in town.

Portland's best karaoke! Its a tiki bar. Great bar food & drinks-the only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is that it is smoky.

You stop in here once in awhile to play keno, the food is not our favorite but it's edible. Its super dark when you first walk in and takes a minute or two for your eyes to adjust. The staff was friendly as always

The Alibi has a legit tiki pedigree and is over 50 years old. For decor, you can hardly find a more authentic Post-WWII Tiki vibe. It's huge in here - especially compared to other tiki bars - with several big sections. Perhaps as a consequence of adapting to stay open all these years and the size, the crowd is not strictly tiki-aficionados. They have karaoke in the back and crowd is raucous. Another way they are different: they offer far more food at this bar than most tiki bars - most don't offer food at all. I always judge a tiki bar by their Zombie - the Alibi's is a little weak, both in flavour and alcohol content. I don't know that they put Falernum in their Zombie, it seemed to be missing that taste. Service was stellar. Our waitress was quick, friendly and kept her cool amidst all the chaos.

Absolute worst bar in Portland. If you want karaoke fun, go to sukis, or voicebox. Or just about anywhere other than here. You’d have more fun getting a tall can and going home. They love to babysit their patrons, and will gladly cut you off if you so much as look at them the wrong way. Absolutely pathetic establishment

I told the bartender my name, he told me I was drunk and that my card wasn't at the bar. I was 100% sure it was. He was a bigot for sure, because my last name is Spanish and he just didn't understand what I was saying when I told him (and even SPELLED HIM OUT) my last name.

This was a crazy Karaoke bar. Lots of fun. Crazy songs and singers. Very diverse group and very accepting group. The group I came with were on business and so we were dressed a bit too nice for this place.....but locals seemed fine with us. There was a table that was unused the whole night next to the stage because it was so wobbly you couldn't set a drink on it. Odd the ownership just left it that way. The bar tender near the stage did a great job with tiki inspired mixed drinks but all others were weak and served with anger. Finally started going to lower bar (near the door) and she was a good bar tender. There is a fun atmosphere here but little things could make it better. We had fun though.

I had heard of this place being a classic tiki bar so I wanted to stop by and give it the once over. We arrived at about 2:00 in the afternoon and after taking one look at the sign I knew I would have to come back at night and see it in all of its glory. I really was only going to snap a few pics and check out the tiki stuff, but a friend of ours suggested we meet there for Happy Hour. I'm not a great fan of Happy Hour food as usually I find it to be a lame assortment of appetizers. The Alibi was not the case. It was truly a happy hour (actually 4 hours from 3-7pm. Bonus!) Buds were $1.75, well drinks were $2.50 and they had $2.95 menu items. As I mentioned I was expecting appetizers so we ordered several items. I was shocked when they came out and I saw that they were full size dinner menu plates! Huge burger, 4 large pieces of fish for the fish and chips, a large dinner salad, chicken strips, etc. Fortunately we had 4 hours!

It's been a few years since I've been here so this review is long overdue. I went here with friends, legitimately had some of the most fun of my life. The drinks were fun. The atmosphere was AMAZiNG. To this day I still share how much fun I had, and would bribe friends for a visit again.

The Alibi is a classic. The door is a time machine. Enter and you are back in a vintage tiki era. The food is tasty and the drinks are sweet and reasonably priced. Alas, the servers tend to be rude and are not hospitable to the "cultural creatives" in the region, but karaoke is quite popular.

This place smells like my grandparents' house in Florida (old fryer grease fumes and stale cigarette smoke have indelibly permeated the carpet and furniture), but I'm willing to put up with it for the drinks. Sometimes I just want a fruity, sugary, girly cocktail. This is hard to find at close-in bars, where the bartenders are so serious about their reputations for strong pours that you could order a Shirley Temple and all you'd taste is vodka. So it's nice to come to this place every once in a while and get something with a little umbrella in it. My favorite is the Rum Runner. I'm not a huge fan of most of the food, but they do have the best waffle fries this side of Chik-Fil-A territory. And the low lighting and nice mix of Motown and 70s easy-listening music make for a really pleasant setting once you stop noticing the smell (which is usually right around the time you've finished your first drink).

I had hear the stories from my other tiki-loving friends. The told me if I ever made it to Portland, this place was a MUST. It was my only HAVE to see on the itinerary. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. My travel companions were luke warm on the idea of going because it was so far away from where we were staying. Once we arrived the neon lights beckoned us in to the best TIKI Bar since the Kahiki. It was amazing. We were only sad that we had dinner reservations elsewhere or we would have spent the entire night right there. I got my souvenir mug and amazing memories. This place is a Tiki-lovers Mecca. Make the journey. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome food, excellent value, amazing drinks. Rockin' ambience. Any time we have guests from out of town we bring them here and they fall in love too. P.s. check out the bathrooms!

I love this place, because of the kitschy atmosphere. I did eat the Kahlua pork, and it was pretty tasty. Not Hawaii, but still, not bad. The drink, however, a Dark & Stormy, was tolerable. I didn't even taste much alcohol in it. The karaoke is set up okay, though I will say I put my songs in quite early, right at nine. At 11:30, I still had not sang my second song. So, for karaoke, this is not my favorite place. The service was pretty good, insofar as I liked our waitress. One trip a year here is just fine for me.

We arrived during happy hour on a slowish afternoon, and after a moment to allow our eyes to adjust to the dark interior, we were permitted to sit anywhere. Throughout our stay, we were taken care of well by the staff. The cocktails were so-so. The food was reasonably decent, and the fries came out hot, right out of the fat...quite tasty. The best thing about the place is the low-key atmosphere and old-timey ambiance.

Great Tiki decor and staff. The old skool neon lights were a hit too. Not to shame anyone, but I’m used to seeing the bartenders dressed in Hawaii attire, like Hawaiian shirts and dresses, —flowers in the hair. It may be corny, but to me it adds to the Tiki experience ...that’s just my opinion.

One of the oldest tiki bars still around in America, the Alibi has been working to restore itself to glory, be specific about how you like your drink and you will get one you like. Worth a visit to anyone who enjoys Tiki, kitch, Mid Century style and history. Still a neighborhood place so don't expect Disneyland, but plenty of vintage vibe to enjoy. Celebrating its 75th anniversary this month (August 2022). This is a family run place, not much web presence so make sure to get on of their Tiki Mugs while you are there.

luckily a piece of old portland remains intact, and it's most comforting....we try to visit and support the businesses of old portland places before they are razed...lunch: i had a rainier, and my partner had a hurricane...next, i had the traditional scrambled eggs sub fruit, and wheat toast, and she had the moco loco sub fruit...hit the spot for sure....the bartender was most friendly and the place was packed ..she made the best hurricane drink!!!!.......the environs are cozy and relaxing..karaoke was going strong too...thx so much!!!

I had a zombie and kept the mug, and a mai tai. Both were made well. The food was good, chicken teriyaki n coconut shrimp. Wasn’t busy for a Monday night but our bartender always checked on us. Tiki decorated, didn’t have theme music on, but changed to jazz which was better than any music. Karaoke started at 9p, seemed like regulars. Stayed for a few n then left.

This place had a great atmosphere, good appetizers, and fun people. Our group went there for a night of drinks, dancing and karaoke and we all had a blast!

Found this place by total accident, it was right across the street from our motel. Tiki bars are unknown in the UK so this was our first and I was so impressed I bought their T-shirt like the hapless tourist I am. We went a few times and Amy did a top job serving - thank you ma'am. Have a Hawaiian burger, they are truly majestic. On the Saturday it was cold and rainy so we abandoned downtown Portland and headed here again and tucked into a shared heap of Macho Nachos which hit the spot. Later we went for total Tiki cheesiness and ordered a couple cocktails (J's was called a Neon Sign while I sipped my Sufferin' Bastad) complete with umbrellas and fruit - very nice. Great food, good beer selection and such a laid-back vibe for a deservedly busy place. Essential part of the Portland thing.

Great food and ambiance. I loved the old time Tiki décor! It is very dark inside and they have karaoke, video gambling. They have the best Happy Hour meals and drinks for under $8!!!!! I also get the Kalua Pork but everything is good to eat. Free parking! Great bartenders!

Third visit in a years period. The Hawaiian fare is very good. I have tried the kalua pork, shoji chicken, yakasoba, and coconut shrimp dinners. The coconut shrimp is hand breaded and the best I have had, hands down. The food is a solid winner in this dimly lit very cool tiki bar. Karaoke at 9PM nightly. Fun crowd, good times. I would have given a 5, but the bathroom care was sloppy.

I have eaten at The Alibi since the mid 1970's. Polynesian style bar with exotic drinks, bar and appetizer menu and corresponding decor. Seperate restaurant area with a large varied menu. Moderate prices, large portions and good service. Off street parking. Daily food and drink specials.

Given the type of place this is, we went on a Saturday night and it was a good decision. The staff did the best they could with the place being packed and the best entertainment was the mass of people who become more and more confident as the strong cocktails flowed and the mic became inviting. The food was bar food so don't expect a life changing experience when you order it. People and staff were friendly and encouraged all participants on the stage no matter the skill level. The place fills up early so don't be surprised if you find yourself waiting for a spot in the karaoke area.

Alibi's is a unique place to eat. The place is very dark, with a Tiki theme, and glowing black-light art along many of the walls. Music is mellow, and adds to the relaxed ambience. The food is decent. I have had the Monte Cristo and Philly Cheese Steak. The portions are huge. Neither sandwich was the best I have every had, but not the worst, either. I will be back again.

Popped in for a late lunch with a work colleague. This place is dark and over the top with the Tiki decor...very cool. The waitress/bartender was super friendly and attentive. We both had Kalua sandwiches, which consisted of pulled pork and a teriyaki sauce on a nice bun. I say nice bun because this was an extremely "wet" sandwich, which could have disintegrated into a mess without a good bun, and it held up nicely. Came with a large portion of decent fries and two large onion rings. The food was decent, the prices reasonable, and the ambience unique. Now I want to go back here for drinks!

This is said to be Portlands oldest watering hole. Going back to water animals on their journey as well as their masters. In the 1950's it was remodeled into what it stands as today, which makes it just cool. Karoke seven nights a week--better to get there early if you want to sing as it draws big crowds who love to have fun. Food is good drinks island inspired. Good place to get down and have fun

I had come to The Alibi Restaurant and Tiki Bar about 3 years ago. I was excited to revisit, but I found some changes have made this place less desirable. I didn't like the fact that there was a special Wings promotion going on and that you had to go up and order from the bar for your food and drinks, cuz there was loads of people standing in line. The drinks were good but the food was subpar. The chicken in the Pu Pu platter was way over overcooked, my wife's Burger was undercooked, and her fries were overcooked and extremely salty. I would have to say that I would stop in if I was in the area for one of their good drinks, but I would not make a special trip to this place anymore.

It's been a long time coming.... After 14 years, we finally made it here. I'd always heard the interior was pretty cool, but food and drinks were horrible. Tiki Bars aren't always known for their food, so that could be overlooked... BUT, a Tiki Bar without Tropical Tiki Cocktails defeats the purpose of its existence.... On entry, we were instantly transported back to a 1950's Tiki Lounge! The place is almost UNTOUCHED, as if time stood still for 50-60 years. Oh, don't get me wrong... time has probably lost something here, but you can't call this a RETRO TIKI LOUNGE. It's a TIME CAPSULE of what Tiki Lounges were like. It's like a historical preservation of the past... For that, I give it an "5" for decor. It's a rather large space... Apparently, we were there for Brunch. They only had a Brunch menu and drinks were limited... That said, Ive seen their regular Drink menu.... They serve only about half a dozen Tropical Drinks and some Drink bowls for multiple people. So, they don't have the VAST Tiki Drink menu you'd find at Trader Vics, Hale Pele, Smugglers Cove or even Frank's Tiki Lounge. The Drink menu, we'd give a "2." I'll come back to drinks.. The food menu for Brunch was pretty good selection. We didn't dare go for the Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict in fear of major disappointment. We chose the Loco Moco. It was OK... Better than some, worse than others... We give it a "3." So... the Drinks! We started with the Mai Tai - Definitely a decent and STRONG Mai Tai. Lots of Rum with lime and some orgeat syrup. I'd give it a "4." Island Sunset - Definitely the most interesting drink we had... Dense, maybe to dense.... Lots of fruit juice, pineapple, orange with coconut and spice. Not over the top with fancy ingredients, but dense and fruity with the flavors of sun tan lotion and booze. Could be a little toned down on the dense fruit.. "3" Shark Attack - The alcohol blend is kind harsh, but some decent Blue Curacao and fruit. "3" Far from the finesse and quality you'd find at Hale Pele or other high end Tiki Lounges, but all decent enough. Worth a trip just to see the interior and have a few decent tropical drinks... We'd come back with other Tiki loving friends... Maybe bring them to Hale Pele for the quality drinks and then the Alibi to be amazed at the site of historic Tiki Bar/Lounge.

The ambiance of this restaurant is where it's at! The tiki theme is complete with free leis. It was like going on vacation while on vacation! The food wasn't great but wasn't bad. Our experience was more for the decor!

Well, slowly but surely north Portland's Interstate neighborhood is being destroyed (gentrified) through redevelopment. Interstate Lanes are gone. The Overlook was just closed. But the Alibi abides, dude! This institution has been here since the late 1940's. An honest to goodness Tiki Bar that has great Polynesian food, rum drinks, kitschy atmosphere, and a very friendly neighborhood feel. Food and drinks are moderately priced, quickly served and ample-- large orders and stiff drinks. I had not visited since 1970 and they were still playing the very same '60s rock and roll! It was a time warp that I greatly enjoyed. If I have to venture into downtown Portland for a show or event, I really would prefer to eat and drink in a neighborhood before I get downtown. (There were exactly zero hipsters at the Alibi!) With the Overlook now gone, the Alibi is my new venue to prepare for the city!

Be ready to step back in time - but in a good way considering they just underwent a remodel/clean up. Walking in the door will make you feel you're like a kid again with so much fun tiki tacky decor. Alot of people like to come for the kareoke, which is lead by a fun dj in their upper dining room. This is a lively place, and many like to come for late, late happy hour. We ate and drank the last time we were there and they served up some good fish & chips! A good place if you want to have some instant fun!

i used to go here a lot when i was younger, and always find it hard to actually get to sing a karaoke song, but if you're patient - or early - it's fine. there's a good selection of music and there's a full bar; the atmosphere is like a dark tiki-bar and the staff is friendly enough. the drinks aren't real artisan, just bar, but they're stiff. i haven't had the food in a while, so cant comment on that. i'd say if you're looking for a good karaoke place, this is a good stop.

Wow! This place couldn't be more out of place where it is - We docked on Swan Island and came around the corner and saw this place lit up like Christmas and the lights pulled us in. The place is dimly lit tikki bar with a unique atmosphere of places we visited in Portland. Staff were very friendly and the food was surprisingly good (Volcano Burger) and spiced fries. I believe there is live music here and it was pretty busy when we visited.

The place was terribly dark and unconfortable. The food was poorly made and tasted bad.

Or maybe a zombie--rum is king or queen here. The decor is a blast from the past and so much fun. Bartenders are attentive and make a heck of a drink! Coconut shrimp and steamed potstickers were very tasty too. Go, drink, sing if you dare. Big spot for Karaoke.

Tiki atmosphere is great. The Drink menu is extensive and the staff is always ready to make a suggestion.

Seriously - You were Portland's last remaining, swank as all get out, original mid-century tiki bar and you had an impressive menu of 35 or more classic tiki drinks! Like you should, being a tiki bar and all. But now you've stopped serving all but ten of those drinks in favor of the same beer and cocktails everyone else in this town is serving?!? NOOOO! Bad, Alibi - BAD! I understand you got new owners this past month and that meant an overhaul of the menu and a couple dollar increase in the drink prices, apparently. And I've gotta admit, the expanded menu looked pretty good (though you're great loko moko and even Taco Thursdays have vanished, unfortunately). But the Alibi is always going to be, first and foremost, A TIKI BAR. Albeit one with karaoke, video poker, and 80's music, but still a tiki bar (and a historical one at that). And tiki bars need one really important item necessary for that uniquely weird, kinda magical, tropical tasting escape from the 87th consecutive 41 degree rainy Portland winter day and maybe even the 21st Century: the tiki drink. Big, colorful, ridiculously strong rum drinks like the Chi Chi. And the Grass Skirt. The Bahama Mama, the Rum Runner...even great house originals like your Komonawannalaya, 1947 Neon Sign, and The Isle of the Blessed Coconut. The drinks you USED TO serve until last month. Not an Old Fashioned, 7&7, Manhattan, G&T, or anything else we can get at any of the 7,000 other drinking establishments in this town, but TIKI drinks. At a tiki BAR. There are still Mai Tai's, Scorpions, and Zombies among those ten remaining drinks, and good thing, because they're made quite well. And your servers are nice and super attentive. But it's just not enough to make up for those 25 or more missing drinks we could walk in, sit right down and get immediately any time after work (unlike wonderful but far-too-small Hale Pele and their infamous 30+ minute waits outside in the rain most evenings if you're with more than one person). Sigh...Okay, I'm done ranting. Please - just bring back the drinks that made you guys unique and a destination for the tiki-set up and down the west coast. This is one part of Old Portland I absolutely refuse to let die if it can be prevented.

Karaoke into the wee hours of the morning....alot of fun, great crowd, great energy, great service! The place was packed with fun people

A wonderful blast to the past. Alibi is in its original condition since the 1930s. It's cozy and the food was great also. We settled for Calamari and Egg rolls - the spicy sauce was delicious. The decor is interesting and worth a tour. Our waiter was pleasant and timely

Love this place! Old cheesy, tacky 70s/60s decor with karaoke and disco balls...so much fun! Drinks are good too and if u sit in the karaoke part you get a lei...get there early tho to get a spot and to put your name in for karaoke

Best Reuben's in town. Portions are huge. The Decore is a riot. The place is done up in a con-tiki pseudo island Decore that is lots of fun, from the 3d hula girls on the wall to the lava flow on the ceiling Great balue

It was one of the funniest places I've been in Portland. It's cheap, it's like a time machine (you think you are in the 70's), the waitress was great and they have funny drinks (not great, but...). The bartender prepared a great caipirinha for us, though.

We only got to experience the karaoke portion of the Alibi, but we loved it. We had already eaten so we did not get a chance to try any of the food and our drinks were standard; none of the signature cocktails made it into our gullets, but the experience overall was awesome. This place was great. Loved everything from the signage outside to the low lit tiki atmosphere inside. The DJ was awesome and the drinks we had were tasty. next time we are up, we will definitely be trying some of their more unique drinks and maybe sample some of their nom noms!

With excellent burgers and great service. The "decor" has to be seen to be believed--flourescent painted dancing girls illuminated by black lights and minimal lighting otherwise. It's apparently been the same since the restaurant was opened in 1947 by a man who had just returned from a trip to Hawaii.

Dark place but relaxing. Try their Tikitini.

A group of us went for karaoke when we were just flying through for a night. The food was good, the drinks were delicious, and the karaoke was fun! It's loud and hard to carry on a conversation, but it's great for belting out the songs with the singers on the stage! The decor is great - very retro. Very dark!

Had a great time until the bar tender cut us off.......stating she’ll reassess us?? I watched her serve the locals with nooooo problem??
Best Happy hour!!
Really really cool spot, only went in for a drink but the bartenders where awesome and helpful, there where friendly people sitting at the bar, and the happy hour is CHEAP! Not a family place though in the evenings though I dont think.
