Fully Americanized Italian

By PickyBaer |

If you love the American version of Italian food (such as Chef Boy ardee) then this is your place. Safe to say, you won't encounter anything that you haven't see or eaten before. Nice safe place to introduce children to "exotic" foods.

Good But Not Geat

By McSix |

We went after reading the history of the restaurant and were really excited. Our server was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxing. We weren't impressed with the food, however. The minestrone had overcooked pasta, and our pizza was good but nothing great.

Terrible food in a pleasant setting

By mexfandos |

We chose this restaurant because of its proximity to the elderly relative we were visting. The interior is very pleasant, having apparently been updated in recent years. The food was really awful. They offer a few pastas as "small dinners" but it comes with soup or salad and dessert (ice cream), not available ala carte. As we are not big eaters, my husband & I ordered from this section. The pasta was very ordinary but it was swimming in sauce. Each plate easily had enough sauce for 4 or 5 dinnrs. Our relative chose a pannini. It didn't resemble any panini that we had ever seen. It was huge, and also drowing in sauce. The bread was tough. Enormous doesn't equal quality. The service was cheerful but slow. With all the great restaurants in Portland, this is one you can skip

Good Variety of Italian Entrees in Well maintained setting

By Sharon Thieman |

Taken out to dinner by friends who live in North East Portland. This restaurant was one of their favorites since they were in high school and that was years ago. They shared some of the history of the restaurant . You have to believe that a restaurant that has been around since 1959 must have a good track record. The menu included pizzas, calzones,, as well as soups, salads, chicken entrees and other Italian specialties. My husband and I chose to split a house salad (which was large enough for two)and the legendary combo pizza . A small pizza was just right for us. Our friends tried a create your own Pizza in a medium and ended up with a few pieces left over . The pizza was delicious. The service was very good and I didn't find it at all noisy. There were kids meals and dessert options but we were too full to try dessert. Apparently the restaurant has two locations .

Bland Food for Clueless People

By PN655321 |

First off this place is loud. I don't know how a restaurant so small can be so loud. Secondly it's obviously a neighborhood restaurant. The people that go there have been going there since the place opened in the 50's. The food was middling. My salad was overflowing with cheap lettuce and olives. The dressing was nice, it seemed to be housemade. The pasta came on a separate plate from the main dish not properly drained in a bland tomato sauce. The Chicken Parmesan was tasteless and rubbery baked in more bland tomato sauce and flavorless cheese. The Spumoni was decent. I wouldn't go here again.

Best food and overall great vibe!!

By MaryEtta C |

Our visits to Amalfi's is always for a family member's birthday. Each time we visit this restaurant we are more than satisfied. the food is always fresh, the service is caring and available. Mr favorite is the carbonaro alfredo; absolutely to die for. There is also an upstairs area for private large group events

Stopped for dinner.

By Joseph T |

Was out with friends, and we picked this place by word of mouth. We called ahead to ask for reservations, and were told not needed, just show up. We did, 40 minute wait. We went the a bar table. Cute glass top on barrels, that left very little room for knees. We went ahead and ordered dinner. The wait-staff was friendly, and between the two servers, we had what we wanted in a timely manner. I had the four-cheese ravioli, and was pleased. Two others liked theirs fine. The fourth in our party was not happy with her meal, and after sampling, I had to protect mine from encroachment. Hers was perhaps just a bit rich?, though I only tried a few bites. Overall, I was ok with the experience, for a very reasonable price. The a la carte option is nice, but the additional salad and dessert for $4 is quite reasonable if looking at what comes. The wine was very good, if maybe not quite much a value as the meal. I would go back if in the area and wanting a reasonable priced meal.

Classic Italian in a Pleasant Surrounding

By Gary N |

Amalfi's has been around for many years, but we rarely go because of the distance from our house. We had occasion to treat an old high school classmate while she was visiting from Vancouver BC. We went to Amalfi's, and I am glad we did. We were fortunate to arrive early, around 5 PM. By 5:30 we noticed most of the tables were taken and there was a waiting line. Our meals were good, and the lasagna was presented in an unusual and enticing manner. We did not try the pizza, which I understand to be very good. I will probably order that the next time. We will be sure to return and recommend the restaurant to others.

Computerized ordering

By monsoons2013 |

The ordering process begins by scanning a bar code and the rest you have to basicadlly try to figure out. The printed menu and the wifi menu have different selections making it very confusing . The wifi menu does not include of discriptions of entre ingredients, and there is no one to ask for clarification.Once we figured out the orderng process we waited over 1 hour for our pizza to be delivered to our table.. The server never check backed to inquire about the service our our needs. The printed menu has very few selections> Amalfi's appears to be a bare bones operation these days. THE PIZZA WAS not prepared the ordinady way it was basically a cheese pizza with the toppings placed on top> We DID NOT ENJOY the dining experience nor the food-it will be a long time before another visit to our once favorite pizzeria.

Neighborhood go-to

By 1hurleygirl |

We've been going to Amalfi's since we moved into the neighborhood 21 years ago. It has been a steady, go-to restaurant for us. The "recent" changes in adding the to-go food section and outdoor seating area have been great improvements. Thankfully, it hasn't turned total Portland hipster. The service is usually pretty good, although we have had some visits where it was not. The food has always been good though. The wine list is decent, and a good match for the food. If hubby and I are looking for great wine this isn't where we look, but when we last week tried to visit a more hip restaurant not far from home and found it packed, super noisy and the person doing the seating didn't even greet us after walking by several times, we left and headed for Amalfi's. We got in shorty, had a great meal with leftovers to take home.

Been around forever. Above average Italian. Better to order to go than eat in. Not the best service.

Fine neighboorhood bar and very good resturant

Neighborhood find with warm welcome, indoor and outdoor eating and excellent menu with all the Italian specials you could want. Fine takeout service and excellent wine list.

Simply Terrible

By TonyBoot |

These folks have never visited Italy! Menu consists of sweet, red/white sauce put a various pasta shapes that have been overcooked. While I have not sampled the pizza, I assume that the same standards apply. Then, the crowning glory, to be Italian many dishes are covered in cheese of an ill defined characteristic and put under a broiler to melt. In a word, simply disgusting and an insult to Italian culture. A step below Olive Garden. Never again!!!

Tom Bispham Special!

By MLG |

Best Pizza ever! Our family has been coming here since It opened in 1959 and will carry on to the next generation. After hearing the news of our family members illness they added the Tom Bispham Special to their menu for the months of Jan/Feb in his honor. We greatly appreciated this wonderful gesture. We would love you to enjoy Tom’s favorite, hamburger and fresh tomato, in his honor. The food is wonderful, cozy atmosphere and great service. It shows they truly care about their customers. Thank you Amalfi’s!

Good Italian restaurant

My friend had seen this restaurant featured in one of the TV shows. We seek out the pace and had dinner. The food are very delicious, the pizza is superb and pricely good. Will come back again if we are in Portland

One of favorite Happy Hour Bars

By Claudiagenna |

Their meatballs are amazing!!! Cesar Salad is great!! We love to go there all year around, especially on a cold winter night, the fireplace table is very nice. Just went there on a hot summer night, that worked, too!!

Good Thin Crust Pizza

By Engineer_Lou |

My Fiancée, an old friend of my Fiancée's and I went here for dinner September 10, 2013. Amalfi's Italian Restaurant is good if you like "Thin Crust" pizza. My Fiancée loves the way they make their "Amalfi's Original" topped pizza. If you like you pizza with a thin crust, this is the place to get your pizza pie. Large Basic Cheese ($15), to make it a Amalfi's Combo (add $8) to the price. Since I like my pizza NY Style, I can't make an un-judgmental comment on thin crust pizza. My Fiancée and her friend both loved the Amalfi's Combo pizza. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiano, which came with a side of Spaghetti and a side salad ($18). I ordered the Greek Side salad, which I thought was very good. The Chicken Parmigiano had a very light breading, which I thought was too light, I did not find it being your traditional pan fried chicken. The Spaghetti was not that good, bland. I did not find the sauce they used as very good. It might have been fresh sauce but, it did not stick to the pasta. The Spumoni ice cream was good ($3). It was included with my dinner. We ate in the bar area because they had a Happy Hour. However, the drinks were not at a Happy Hour price, only the appetizers are on the Happy Hour Menu. Drinks: Wall Street ($12), Crimson ($8), Bottle of Covey Riesling ($24), Ice Tea ($2.50). The Bill for the 3 of us was $90.50 (there is no Sales Tax in Oregon). Since the bartender and the waitress were playing serving team, they both gave us a bill. We paid our bill the Bartender brought to us, then the waitress dropped off the same bill to our table.

Charming Place/Neighboorhood

By Bill K |

We enjoyed a very nice dinner at Amalfi's. We had pasta dishes and pizza. Both were delicious and filling. We chose to eat outside because the weather was nice and most people were out there. The dining area inside looked very inviting as well.

First-rate Italian family dining

By Lynn D |

We hadn't been here before and had been enticed by the wonderful food smells as we drove by sometime previously, and it sounded like a good place to meet a friend for a birthday dinner. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, a nice blend of old-timey Italian restaurants (it's been in business since 1959) and contemporary casual dining. No red-and-white checkered tablecloths but wooden tables and soft amber lighting. We chose a booth on the upper level in the back, and it was nice to be able -- on this, our first visit -- the other areas. We all started with the Caesar salad, which was superbly prepared, and a nice size -- neither to much nor too little. We also all had the lasagna classico (it also comes in a veggie version), and it was just that. Bubbling hot pasta and sauce in the traditional gratin dish. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with distinct layers of noodles and filling, and the sauce nice and tomato-y, with the expected small chunks of the fruit and about as much garlic as one would expect from a good Italian restaurant! A nice feature of the venue is the Mercato, where one can purchase fresh house-made foods, local delicacies and imported Italian products, "grab-and-go" pastas, salads, pizzas, wine, as well as related kitchen items, souvenirs, and the like. We will definitely be back!

So Good...Must

By J Kimberly W |

We rented the restaurant out for our Master's Graduation Party a couple of weekends ago...it was amazing. We catered from their menu, and it was all good, but those meatballs...pure heaven!. The team took great care of everyone there... we ate, we drank, we were marry, it was grand and I can't wait to go back for dinner!

Red Sauce Italian

By DoctorM |

You pretty much know what you are getting into when you look at the menu in this restaurant in the Fremont neighborhood. Old school Red Sauce Italian food with its roots firmly in the 1960's. Great wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with blue cheese and real bacon. But the kitchen failed miserably on the sautéed brussel sprouts: ours arrived stone cold and hard as little bricks. We had to send them back. Every entree we tasted was unexceptional including the shrimp scampi (6 shrimp and a 1/2 pound of pasta), the ravioli, and the lasagna. Many people make better food at home than this. But if you are looking for a modestly priced meal for a night out with friends, this is a reasonable choice

Great food and service

I've been going here for 40 years! The service is outstanding and the food is always perfect. It's a great place to meet friends or just to have a nice dinner.

Best Italian Restaurant in Oregon!

By Faye K |

If you find yourself in the Beautiful, Portland, Oregon area, city of art, beauty, bridges, parks, hiking, mountains, and of course amazing food. The first restaurant you should seek out is Amalfi's Italian on 4703 NE Fremont St. Amalfi's has been family owned for over 45 years, and they have maintained a tremendous quality, and dining experience continually. The menu is full of surprises, and Chef Keenan has made a menu that will have you planning second and third visit's before your trip is complete! From Pizza to Pasta, to the best voted "Happy Hour Menu" and "Best Pizza" in Portland the past few years, how can you miss out! you'll receive the best food and service experience in Portland.... open from late afternoon to late evening hours....

Great advice from Tripadvisor!

By UTtraveler84121 |

Based on past reviews, we knew that the food would be at least good, and the service competent and friendly. Both expectations were exceeded. For a place started 50 years ago, we expected an old, probably dated environment, but we were surprised that it was actually very nicely updated with a clean, somewhat upscale ambiance. They have a parking lot on the side and in the back, so parking was no hassle, compared to the many other restaurants in the area. Customers seemed to be a mix of ages and locals and visitors. The antipasti plate at $10.95 was excellent and a lot of food for two, plenty for four to share. Having had that we we glad to skip the "full dinner" option on entrees (which adds salad and ice cream dessert) and instead order an entree ala cart which worked out great. Both had spaghetti, one with meat sauce and meatballs, the other with marina and sausage. The sauces were indeed different, both tasty, and the meatballs exceptional. Servings were large and a couple could share, especially after having the antipasti. Entrees were $10.95 but the sausage or meatballs added $4.00. A glass of house wine at $7.50 was reasonable. Not the creative specialties of a trendy "new name" restaurant, but a good solid, traditional Italian choice that will be sure to please.

I love the pizza, happy hour, drinks, service......

By Von T |

Fantastic pizza like some of the best I have ever eaten. happy hour where to begin... zesty artichoke dip, meatballs and mozzarella, buffalo tiger prawns, scampi sauté, Greek greens, a not so petite anti pasta yes I have tried it all. HH prices are $3-$5 Everything is freshly prepared and delicious, This place has ambiance, outstanding service, great prices, it's hard to find all of this in one place but this gem delivers. Don't miss out.

Great Pizza

By Thunderbird12 |

I hadn't been back to Portland for quite awhile and hadn't been to Amalfi's for at least 20 years. Re-modeled from the last time I was there, it was very comfortable and fun. The pizza was great and it's easy to see how this restaurant remains a Portland tradition. Recommended.

Great Happy Hour, super staff

By Kathy F |

What a pleasant, happy surprise to find Amalfi's. The happy hour prices are really good as well as the food. The service was outstanding. I didn't expect this quality or level of service in this part of town. Happy surprise. I recommend this place highly.

Might be the worst Italian restaurant...

By richlufrano |

Might be the worst Italian restaurant I've ever been to. I asked the waiter to make sure the pasta was al dente and she said that was impossible because the pasta was pre-made. Sure enough the pasta dish came back wet and soggy like something out of a can. It's hard to imagine why anyone would pay money for food like this by the place has managed to stay in business for a long time. Portland has amazing restaurants but we haven't been able to find good Italian spots. This one is the worst.

Food is basic, service non existent

By Jeff J |

We live a few blocks from Amalfis. We eat there once a year. their service sucks. the assumption is you will eventually figure out no one will serve your table, you will need to pull out a phone and use a qr code (again this is not clear) and then “hope” it all goes to plan. every year we say never again. tonight we got up and walked out. never again ……

Great neighbourhood spot!

By Finoke1 |

This little place is obviously popular with the locals because it was very busy the night we went. My wife ordered the Caesar with salmon and it was ok. I ordered the Veal Parm and pasta and it was very good. Atmosphere was very cosy and the waiter was well-trained and very pleasant. I would recommend this place for anyone who would like a night out at a neighbourhood restaurant in Portland.

What happened!

By Bill L |

I've been coming here for at least 50 years, mostly for the pizza. Last night's visit was my last. Prices were high, and the pizza was terrible. It was overcooked and short on toppings. In short, the legedary combination was closer to a pepperoni pizza. We got there at 6:15 and there were only a few diners. By 7:15 it was empty. In the pre-pandemic days you had to wait for a table so I'm guessing that they've lost most of their regular customers. What a disappointment!

Portland's Italian Restaurant!

By Pdxer |

Okay, there are several excellent Italian restaurants in Portland and the best can be found here. I've been coming here since I was little and always enjoy the friendly, loving staff who really know their menu that is full of traditional favorites. I had the chicken parmesanio that was huge, tender, and delicious... I think it's the sauce! Others in the group had ravioli in alfredo sauce and spaghetti, and loved every bite, plus a little spumoni for dessert. It can get busy and a little loud at times, but only adds to the great vibe. Great cocktails, too. Excellent, recommend highly!

Great traditional Italian cuisine

By bruceklein |

Dined with our (grown) family one night last week and was delighted to find a solid traditional Italian restaurant that reminded me of the places I ate at as a kid in New York. The Marsala Carbonara was great but the classic lasagne was exceptional. Large portions, good value and a couple of well priced Barolo's on the menu as well. We will dine here again.

OK at best

By Igo4me |

We ordered dinner meals.Cannelloni sounded good but was unremarkable. Came in a white porcelain portion control container without much taste or character. I expected more and was disappointed. Our waiter was nice but new and did not know anything. Not a place I would go again.

Great Family Business

By Isaac D |

I have been coming to Amalfi's for quite some time and have always loved their food and service. The daughters of the owner took over a few years ago and have continued to improve the atmosphere, food and service.

What a disappointment.

By Michael P |

We arrived at 5:30 on Saturday night and were seated immediately. Server was pleasant. It was ALL downhill from there. We ordered a sampler plate to begin our night and 20 minutes later I had to go ask where our food was. NO one had come by to check on drinks or tell us what was happening. Finally the sampler arrives 30 minutes after ordering with the apology of we have a 50 person recital dinner and the manager is aware. The manager stops by and says sorry and that she will take $10.00 off the sampler. We thought takes cool and things would get better. WRONG! Salads arrive timely as well as the entrees. Food was good but by now we've been there an hour and half. Once the entrees were delivered we didn't see our server for another 15 minutes. We basically bussed our table waiting for our server to clear the table. The manger never did come back to check on us. All in all I'd suggest 3 Doors Down for a fine dining Italian experience.

Nice ambiance and good food

By road_tested2011 |

Had a lovely date night with my husband at Amalfi's. The ambiance was lovely, the food was excellent, and the service was curteous, prompt, and friendly. It would also be a good place to take a family or gold a party.

First Time Diners

By Jerry A |

This is the first time we’ve dined at Amalfi’s. It was about 5pm on a Sunday and we chose a booth. The atmosphere is comfortable and staff was friendly. We were told portions are generous so we skipped an appetizer. Two of us had spaghetti with meat sauce and a side of 2 meatballs each. The meat sauce was excellent and meatballs were quite good. A generous slice of bread came with each order. My wife had chicken parmigiana which was served with a side of spaghetti. The chicken was a bit dry, possibly a little overcooked and wouldn’t try that again. Our friend had the lasagna and said it was very good. The house wine - Pinot Noir was okay. We didn’t try dessert but they looked very good. Total bill excluding tip was a bit over $100. Not bad for a Sunday dinner. We’ll go back probably for the pizza for which they are evidently known for. I expected more, so I was a bit disappointed.

Poor service

By Stammre |

Have been going here for years and always had a good experience. Meeting friends here on Saturday night. It was very busy but willing to wait for table, this took 15 minutes no problem. After 20 minutes and no server had attended to our table we ask the bus boy if he could have a waitress come to our table, his reply is I don't know who it is. Waited another 10 minutes and some of our party got up and left. We finally went to the hostess and advised here on our issue and finally got a server who was very helpful and took good care of us for the rest of the evening. I guess in the future will skip going here on Friday or Saturday as server advised this is there busy night and it seemed they just don't have enough help.

Impeccable service and tasty food

By scott s |

This is a great Italian family restaurant. The food is reasonably priced and the staff are all eager to please. We have dined in and have ordered from Grubhub due to the pandemic. Glad they are able to keep the doors open during this difficult time.

We are done with Amalfi’s.

By my_red_dress |

Haven’t been here for at least 5 years. We moved a ways away so while in the area today we went here for dinner and that was a mistake. We used to love this place but it has really gone downhill. The food was not that good the sauce on all of our entrees had a funky taste. We asked for our pizza well done and it was barely cooked. Also when we paid our waitress cash she never brought our change back and we had to chase her down. So sad to say we will be looking for another Italian restaurant, cause we are done coming here.

Italian Food to Die for!

By thehammer39 |

My wife have been her many times. The food is always fantastic. The service is very good. The atmosphere is awesome. All of the dishes we have tried are great. The pizzas are awesome, but so are all the traditional dishes; manicotti, cannelloni, spaghetti, etc. I highly recommend Amalfi's, you won't be sorry.

Paper plates and plastic cups at fine dining prices

By Sarah M |

We've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and will not go back again. Paper plates and plastic cups at fine dining prices. Ridiculous. Used to get bread, salad and spumoni with your meal. Nothing comes with meal now, and the prices are higher. Service left a lot to be desired. Nice enough servers, but we had to ask, sometimes repeatedly, for what we needed. I really expected more and am so disappointed. Won't be back and would never recommend.

Bes Italian Restaurant

By nkneap |

We started going here in 1964. It is still one of our favorite resturants. The food is always outstanding and the service is great. It is one of our entire families (including our kids, grandkids, my brothers and their kids and grandkids) favorite places to eat. We have had lots of birthday parties there and even a retirement party there. We have watched the place grow in size many times, each time improving the site.

Worst dining experience I have ever had...

Worst dining experience I have ever had, and then to top it off they had my car towed, with my dog in it! I will NEVER return!

The best food ever

By jennifermcc |

Its a beautiful setting with amazing food. If I could eat there every day I would. The pizza is to die for, its the best in Portland. There salad dressing makes the salad pop! I love to eat here and those of you who gave it a bad rating don't know what good food is.

That's Amoré

By jeffkiddoo |

My family and I have always loved this place. The food is amazing and have never been disappointed. In fact, we had them cater our wedding and there were nothing but great compliments about the food. I think that says it all. Thank you Amalfi's for being an important part of our special day. Cheers!

DON'T EAT HERE, TERRIBLE FROM FIRST MOMENT IN THE DOOR

By INEEDAGOODNIGHTSREST |

We can not believe how dumb the american eating public is that anyone can rate this place higher than terrible. When we visited there were 4 family members in our party. We were told at the entrance to the place that there was a 20 to 30 minute wait by a young lady, a hostess maybe. It was a frustrating 40 minute wait as you will read. As a point, this is about 7:30 on a Tuesday evening, after the dinner time rush. The frustrating part of that was that only about 3 partys are waiting at any one time and there are 5, yes 5 empty tables that are open the entire time we are waiting and at one point, about 15 minutes of our wait at the last, we are the only ones waiting. Those five tables needed to be cleared for new customers but the wait staff is really busy serving. However there are two young people at the register acting as hostesses and they are doing nothing. Owner of place: did you read that, they are standing there, "doing nothing"? They seemed to be having a great deal of work on the list for seating, marking with colored pens and discussing the big groups of people in the waiting area, our party of 4 and two other partys that numbered 3 and 2. I think if there had been one more group waiting that these so called Hostesses would have had to go to a computer to figure out how to kill more time doing nothing. Put them to work clearing the tables so they earn their wages and get the most important part of your business, your customers, seated. Yes, I spent a lot of time reviewing our arrival because it is the start of the meal as far as I'm concerned. Now on to the table when the 4 of us were seated. We had a very pleasent waitress, who did not have a name tag on or we would have indicated how special she was here. She did a great job and we enjoyed her. However she could not make up for the "stuff" we were served that was called food. We each had a green salad with our meals. It was such a poor presentation sitting there in the bowl. I have seen better at a Denny's. It was just okay. Now my wife and I had pasta with marinara sauce, at least that was what we ordered and it was Yuk! Pasta itself was okay, lots of it but it was drowning in the sauce which was really, really bad. It was burnt, sweet to the point of sicking and had a very pasty flavor. My wife left half of hers and I ate mine to a point of feeling sick from the flavor near the end of the dish. Our son and daughter-in-law indicated that their food was, and they were pushing the number, a 4 out of scale of 1 to10, 10 being best. I wouldn't have given our pasta a 2. I would say this is one of the 10 worst Italian Restaurants we have eaten in in our 50 plus years of eating out. I ate a better pasta and sauce at the "Seven Feathers Coffee Shop" on the way home. I will say the place has a nice family feel and maybe there are some good things on the menu but those items didn't make it to our table. We usually give a place 3 tries before giving up on it but this won't happen, we are not wasting another $65 in this place, better spent elsewhere like the Olive Garden. I would suggest you read other reviews and look at the overall reviews for this place before going here. We found it to be a waste of time and money. I find it interesting that the owner does not appear to respond to the reviews that are left and that to me says he doesn't seem to care, he is interested in quantity of bodys coming to the place and losing them because others will come. However he should understand that one day everyone will know how bad the food is and not return. It is quality of food that brings people back. In closing, the parking lot is hell.

PNW BEST Pizza w/ Best Quality Ingredients

By M L |

Pizza Pizza Pizza this is the best Pizza in Portland and SW Washington. This is my old hood still a family-run business second or third generation and they're still cranking out some of the best pizza, I can't comment on other items as I've never ordered them. But for the pizza I'll drive from Washington and make sure I hit them when I leave Portland if I'm there between their operating hours they're not open on Mondays they don't open till 4:00 p.m. which sucks when you want to get back to Washington State before traffic builds up on I-5 LOL but for the quality and flavor of the items they put on the pizza it's worth the trip I prefer the half combination and half mediterranean.

Very good food

By FlyMom10 |

Met new friends for dinner and place was packed! Sunday night and we sat at a bar table and had dinner. Food was very good. Pizza, pasta, manicotti were all very yummy. Service was good. Will be back.

A Bit of Italy

By BnThrDnThat |

We have dined here several times and always have had excellent service and delicious food for a reasonable price. Three of my favorite things in a restaurant! This time we had calzone with a bottle of red wine and it was delizioso! At Amalfi's, it was a like a trip to an Italian ristorante without the need for a passport!

Best happy hour in Portland!

By Char O |

The daily happy hour should not be missed. The food selection is large, servings are generous and the average price is $5. We had pastas which were all excellent and the caprese salad is the best. Meatballs, pizza and shrimp scampi were also excellent. Service was superb and we liked the atmosphere- old fashion but familiar. Amalfi's reminded me of family Italian when I was a kid. We loved everything including the on site market. The desserts looked yummy.

Amalfi's is a decent place to eat.

By Milestogo007 |

Came here after exploring the Fremont neighborhood with my brother. Decided to give it a try in spite of mixed reviews. I stepped inside and sat at the bar. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce and it was excellent. I had read reviews that the sauce was watery, but that was not an issue with my order. It was outstanding and the house salad was very good as well. I tried their dessert and it was very good also. The service was fine and the place looks brand new on the inside. Another interesting part of the restaurant is the Mercato where you buy food you can take home and prepare or reheat it yourself. A nice little feature. The restaurant has been in business since 1959 so it has a pretty good track record, sort of like Stanich's but much cleaner and remodeled.

Good italian .... Remodeledfor the new year!

By Kari L |

Amalfi's is a restaurant I have been going to with my family for over 30 years. Amalfi's has had some major design changes since Portland has become more of a hipster locale. I do hesitate when ordering at Amalfi's because I am always wondering if the wait staff will get my order into the kitchen correctly. Last night they did! I order Spaghetti with Italian Sausage, spaghetti was cooked well, sauce was hot and delicious, and the Sausage was perfect. I received my massive salad with the full dinner the way I wanted it. And they understood I am very allergic to Dairy and followed through. However at my table one order was messed up cantelloni was brought instead of a calazone and it was fine with the person who was eating it but they were very confused with their food. I would say the remodel they have done creating a small deli area was a smart move on the restaurants part a smaller dining facility provides them with a more manageable amount of tables and they can get food out quicker. This was the best meal we have had here since before the original remodel back in the early 2000's. Back when the tables still had checkerboard table tops and the bread basket was crackers. Yes I have been loyal and I am glad to see Amalfi's has turned it around.

Nice Happy Hour cocktails and food at good prices!

By CINDY H |

On Valentine's Day 2014, we went to Amalfi's for happy hour. We got got there around 5pm and got the last two seats around the cosy fireplace. The friendly servers came to us promptly to get us started on drinks quickly. We each ordered two cocktails and they were all made really well with quality alcohol. We ordered minestrone, pizza and sautéed prawns. The minestrone and pizza came quickly. They were both very yummy. The prawns didn't arrive for a long time so we asked the server to check. The server was apologetic for missing the order, and explained that the kitchen was busy for Valentine's. The prawns came soon after and we enjoyed it. When we paid for the bill, we were very happy that they didn't charge us for the late prawns! Overall, Amalfi's is a well-run Italian family restaurant.

Good Pizza with Great Sauce

By atherts |

This isn't your regular chain pizza and that's a good thing. The sauce makes the pizza. It is full of flavor and garlic. The square cut pieces are a change from the norm and gives those who like crust and those who don't a good compromise. We've eaten here before and never had a bad meal.

Downhill through the years

By dkbrodigan |

I have been going to Amalfi's since I was a kid walking home from school. Through the years I have watched the remodels and upgrades, but the pizza is still consistent. I now live two hours away, but for our anniversary, we decided to rent a room and go to Amalfi's. We wanted to eat in the dining room, but the hostess totally ignored us (and others) so we decided to eat in the Lounge. My wife's ravioli arrived cold to the point that the grated cheese wouldn't melt. The pizza arrived ten minutes later and was the wrong pizza. They could make another but would take half an hour. I said no. We then ordered a take and bake which came cooked. They had three servers rotating our table, so we never got to know "our server" because we weren't sure which one was ours. The servers realized this was a mess and they did comp the pizza I didn't order. After fifty years of going to Amailfi's, the shine as finally dulled. It appears they have trade quality and customer service for chic and trendy.

Will come Back!!!

There are some really conflicting reviews on this place. On yelp it has 4 stars and on Trip Advisor it only has 2 ½ stars. I give it 5 stars! We had a large group (8) people going out to dinner. (My family came into town) we all wanted Italian, So instead of going the usual route: Olive garden or the spaghetti factory. We decided to try something new. We wanted something affordable and family friendly. After reading the reviews on Yelp, we decided to go for it. We made a reservation for a Thursday night for 6:30pm. We came around 6:35. The parking lot was full, but we managed to find a parking space. There were a lot of people waiting for a table, but since we had a reservation.. They whisked us away to a huge leather booth. The service was amazing. The waitress came to check on us so many times that I lost track. The food was unbelievably good! The portions are really big, so some of us decided to split the entrees. We still each got a soup/salad/ice cream for no additional cost I had the minestrone soup, which was 10 times better then olive gardens!! There garlic/cheese bread was delicious.. The server kept bringing us more and more. And I had the Alfredo Pollo which I split with my sister. It was so good!! (grilled chicken, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes in a creamy alfredo sauce) I am a pasta lover… So for those days when I want pasta.. We will defiantly come back here. Or on a cold/rainy Portland day we will come here for a bowl of there yummy minestrone soup and garlic/cheese bread.

Still around for a good reason

Our family has been going here since the week they opened in 1959. We're on our fourth generation of Amalfi's fans. Their pizza is in a class by itself. Servers have always been friendly and attentive and helpful. Best pizza in Portland and always has been!

Absolutely not italian

By Robert California |

This place and this menu are very offensive for the Italian cuisine! There is nothing Italian here, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. And also it's so much expensive.

NOT your chain Italian restaurant!

By sheilaford01 |

Amalfi's has been a Portland icon for many years. It has evolved into an attractive modern restaurant and the food has remained outstanding! After years of visiting a couple chain Italian restaurants near to our house, never being truly impressed with the food or service, we decided to head off the 20 miles to Amalfi's. What a fantastic result! The service was great, and our waiter, Patrick, was the best. Price? We were surprised that the quality and value was not any more than the chains and it included dessert! Portions were large enough to take home a second meal. I would recommend this to anyone local as well as visitors to Portland. We'll certainly be going back there soon.

Really???

By Leslie L |

So came to Portland on a short getaway and decided to find an Italian restaurant. Read reviews and it seemed ok. Ordered an antipasto and it had pickles on it...pickles. Well the food, Manicotti and Cannelloni was barely passable and the waitstaff brought our main dishes out within 5 minutes of our appetizer leaving us no choice but to abandon it. I asked her to box the appetizer since we did not have time to eat it. That one went over her head and she forgot the box. The next pass after we finished our dishes she makes a comment we were done fast and must be in a hurry...I didn't order wine but I wonder if I had if she would have given us time to enjoy our antipasto. So food is ok but waitstaff is clueless. If you want great food, try another place.

Lovely food

By IainR |

We ordered takeaway food from here and it was excellent. The restaurant itself looked very nice and they also had fridges of prepared meals, desserts sauces etc that all looked delicious! I would definitely come and easy here but if you want something easy to prepare at home it is just as appealing.

Italian education continues

The Caprese Salad was the best ever! Service was all around excellent and we tried a variety of things all being very good. I would recommend if you like Italian on the homemade side. Traveled with Italian friend who knows what is what!

Best pizza ever!

By Barbara G |

I have been eating at Amalfi’s for close to 50 years. My parents went on dates there in high school, took our family there all through my childhood and I have brought my family there for years. It’s our birthday place and just everyday place too. We pretty much only order the pizza. It has remained the best pizza all of these years.

Lucious Italian food

By pencilmein2 |

My wife and I loved the manicotti, cannelloni and pizza! The cheesy outside of the manicotti along with the creamy filling is delish! We also ordered cannelloni. Then, ordered a small meat pizza to go after having creamy spumoni for dessert. The flavors are amazing!

Nice Happy Hour, but watch out.

By CJDP22 |

This is a very nice looking restaurant with ambiance plus. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Can count on more than one to greet and serve during a Happy Hour. Got to get there early for a table in small lounge area. We did. Took friends for happy hour and again were impressed by the quality and prices of appetizers. How can they put out such good tasting and reasonably priced food? Easy, the drink prices are not discounted for happy hour. Come on, $8 for a craft beer, wine prices not much different. A couple of drinks and appetizers ended with a bill that was more for six drinks than the meals for four (couple of apps each). Will be back but be more careful on drink order.

Definitely not the Amalfi's from the past

By wirenut1462 |

We decided after many years (1980's) of having not dined in this restaurant to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised first by the decor and then by the food. The Amalfi's in the past was dark and dingy but had great pizza. This new Amalfi's has great spaces, interior, and a much better menu. We had a calzone and The Amalfi Panini sandwich which were both very tasty and made to perfection. We will not wait so long to dine in this place again.

Neighborhood Restaurant

By jndst12 |

An adorable restaurant in a cute neighborhood. There is parking in the back! You can sit outside or inside and order from your phone, at the window or inside from a server. It has a very relaxed vibe and great music. There is a small attached market with take home meals, salads, wine, and deserts.

Great Evening

Wonderful family restaurant! Back in town for the holidays visiting family and looking for a close by place for a nice meal. Stumbled upon Almalfi’s and glad we did. Had an excellent pizza and great attention from the staff! Thank you and we’ll be back!!

romantic and comfortable

By Lynne_judy |

Nice ambiance, candle lit with booths. Nice menu with very good Italian food, sangria was awesome. Reservations for large parties. Manager very accommodating to your needs, don't find that in many restaurants. He treats each person very special and special thanks for honoring our request from Florida as it made for a wonderful night. Hostess and servers so very nice and always with a smile. Love this place and wish I lived closer....will visit on my next visit to Oregon.

Love to start here

Love this place, the bar is a great place to stop and have a drink or two and we always order thier spicy meatballs, which are the best !!

Italian food just like mother used to make

By Mary B |

We are not an Italian family but we ate a lot of spaghetti and meatballs in my younger days and the Italian food served at Amalfi's has the same flavors as the food my mother served. So for me this is the Italian place to go for comfort food. I love the Chicken Parm, Combo Calzone, and Chicken Ravioli. Many people rave over the cheese bread and garlic bread but I usually skip it because the main dish servings are generous. If there are enough of us we get a pizza as the appetizer.

not terribly authentic, but not bad

By LaraDavis |

This restaurant has been here since 1959, so they must be doing something right. I've visited a few times and returned yesterday for the first time in quite a while. It wasn't as good as I remember it. They offer the standard American-Italian fare like spaghetti, linguine alfredo, ravioli, etc. My favorite has always been the alfredo, but this visit I found it really lacking any flavor profile aside from olive oil. my husband seemed to like his ravioli though. the pricing is arguably reasonable. the portion I received was enough for three people, but the portion my husband received was reasonable for one (and he got the regular, not small); I would kind of expect the prices to be a little lower for the overall quality, but not materially lower. my dish was $19, but did include a salad, a piece of garlic bread, and a bowl of ice cream; similarly, my husband's was $18. fairly recently, part of the dining area was converted into a market, where you can buy house-made drink mixers, bar accessories (?!), some random other sundries, and take out servings of menu offerings (items on the menu are demarcated with an "M" to show availability at the market); contrary to the assumption I would have made if told about it rather than seeing it, this adds a nice little charm. there is a nice outside dining area with a fire pit, a nice bar area and a main dining area with the feel of something between the olive garden and an old style mom-and-pop diner. The lighting is moderate - not too dim, not too garish - and to our delight on the almost 100 degree day, it is moderately air conditioned. I do believe the establishment to be kid-friendly, but in all my visits have not experienced any shenanigans as a result. the service here, in all my visits, has been good. the servers are very friendly and welcoming, though don't expect much in the way of wine recommendations or pourings. a minor minor detail - don't put the cork back in the wine bottle after pouring. not everyone would or should know this, but some restaurants train their staff in such basics. that sounds really snobby, but as I said, it's minor and the only reason I mention it is to be thorough. the server admitted she was new, and she did a really good job being attentive without being overbearing. all in all I had a decent experience and I would recommend it as a place to eat if you live in the neighborhood and want to walk somewhere for a meal. personally, I think if I'm going to make a drive I might pony up a few extra dollars and go to a slightly more authentic Italian place given the price paid here. I will, however, definitely return to the market for the house-made meyer lemon & ginger cocktail mix. DELICIOUS with whiskey and club soda; i'll probably give the other flavors a go as well! note, if you dine in, you get 10% off your purchase at the market.

Absolutely, delicious!

By Laurina A |

Rashad and Kiauna are with out a doubt, the best host! We were treated to scrumptious salads and tantalizing pasta! The atmosphere was beyond inviting and friendly. Best of all, I enjoyed this meal with my Oregon family! I will be back again!

BEST PORTLAND PIZZA

By monsoons2013 |

Have been a customer since the 70's..The pizza is simply the best in town, the recipe hasn't changed since the 70's and that is what appeals to me personally, the old world artisan taste. I also like the restaurant upgrades, not just the neighborhood pizza place anymore. Amalfi's his now hip and cool. Must admit I usually order the pizza when I am in town. Very friendly staff always a pleasant dining experience...also the happy hour is great!!!!!!

The 2 is for pizza

By Lupine C |

The only good item I've had was the pizza. The lasagna was salty and over cooked noodles. The spaghetti had little meat sauce and noodles over cooked. The Linguini noodles were way overcooked, reminded me of cafeteria style. The Alfredo sauce was greasy and little flavor. So disappointing.

Good Italian

By Chianti_girl24 |

We went on a Friday night and sat in the bar for dinner. Service was fast, the food excellent....get the appetizer of meatballs and mozzarella. I found the take out options after dinner. If I lived near this restaurant, I would get take out weekly. Good prices and really good food.

Awesome Food & Experience

By BC |

We stopped in here to eat and were warmly greeted by the Manager Justin and our server Patrick. After being led to our table, we took Patrick's recommendation on the bacon & brussel appetizer - it was super yummy! Dinner was also fantastic. The pasta sauce is truly some of the best I've ever had. The portions were very generous, as we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. I highly recommend spending the few extra bucks for the "full" meals as you get a salad and ice cream included. Last but not least... try the meatballs... to die for! Thanks Amalfi's for a great experience!

traditional Italian, if limited menu

By AZGrotta |

Amalfi's has been around for 50 years, now owned by the third generation of the family, and it continues to draw crowds from the neighborhood. We stopped in for just small plates and sat at the bar. Good choice, as there was quite a line waiting for tables. Pizza is big here - rest of menu is a bit more limited, unlike the Italian restaurants we are used to in NY. That said, everything we had was good, and the bar tenders know their drinks and how to pour them. Definitely will make a second trip.

A nice family evening meal

By Lucki13 |

Last month, my parents were in town to help me move, and one of the nights that we were really tired, they decided to have dinner at Amalfi's in my new neighborhood. At first I was worried that we were too grubby because I'd seen some dudded-up groups enter and exit as I drove by, but after walking through the sports fans in the bar, I wasn't freaked out anymore. Our waiter was totally nice and helpful. I don't remember what we ate (again, a LONG week of moving!), but Dad's sangria was popular, and I liked the beer options. I know I didn't get pizza, though, because I am a bit of a pizza conneseuir, and didn't want to possibly be disappointed because of their pride in their pizza. The story goes that the Amalfi family introduced pizza to Portland (in '49?) and then opened the first restaurant with pizza in the city, as well. Since it's so close, I'll certainly try it soon, but that can be an adventure for another day. Others obviously like it...

Nice staff, atmosphere, and GOOD FOOD!

By Glowskid |

A large group of us went to Amalfi's for dinner last night to celebrate a birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful, with great knowledge and advice about the menu. I loved the appetizers; my salmon and shrimp salad and drink were sooooo good too! Special candlelit desserts were brought out to the birthday girl and the group. The ambiance is lovely, arranged so that you can have a romantic, family, or group dinner, but not interfere with each other!

Dinner on a Thursday

By Lu Anne F |

Hungry for spaghetti and meatballs? Here they have large portions and the sauce is tasty. The only thing missing was some cheese to go on top. They also offer a selection of meals prepackaged for you to take home and prepare, I had a glass of house Chardonnay and it was very good. We hadn’t been to Amalfis since they remodeled. The ambiance was nice , pricing a little high.

Great Italian dinner

By Mike M |

Had dinner with my wife and daughter on Wednesday night and it was a very nice evening. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. I had the manicotti and it was delicious. Overall a reasonable priced dinner surprise!

large portions, great service, good food

By DT808 |

served a big group of us. we were in the semi-private food. the service was very good, the portions large and the food pretty decent. the meals all came with soup and salad. the wine selection was decent too. Finally, everyone gets dessert with their meal thrown it too. What is there not to like?

Classic Italian restaurant

By David S |

We found this restaurant on Tripadvisor. The menu is classic southern Italian with some interesting variations. We had the margherita pizza which was excellent. Good wine and draft beer list. Prices are very reasonable and the service was excellent.

They took Italian food and rendered it souless

By tasterschoiceguy |

The family looked forward to our dinner at Almalfi's last Saturday night. We anticipated the great dinner that was in store. Oh how our dreams were dashed. Best Pizza in Portland??? As long as Papa Murphy has an outlet on Fremont Ave. Amalfi's won't even be the best pizza on Fremont. Was that sausage or bird seed crumbles? The side pasta dishes lacked any character - junior high 'pasta of the day stuff.' "Why are all these people here?" I asked myself as I left. Is Portland Italian fare in such dire straits? My advice is, choose the Chef Boyardee - same taste, 1/8th the cost.

Amazing menu, staff and feeling of "old Italy."

By Scott G |

We went with friends and enjoyed the personable staff, excellent food and fine company. Couldn't ask for a better night out.

Favorite Portland Restaurant

By Mike M |

Want a great meal in the Portland area try Amalfi's. I've been here several times and I can't talk about most meal but the Carbonara, not sure if spelling is correct, is outstanding. One of my favorite meals of all time. They have large and small portions and the prices are very low. The service is excellent and I've never had a bad experience eating there.

Good and Handle large crownds

By FransDavis |

We had 12 people and they did a great job of dealing with everyone. Including on who was getting on a plane in a few hours. Food was really good and I would recommend this to anyone.

Best vegetarian lasagna ever

By LEL |

Best lasagna ever! I had the vegetarian and my husband had the one with meat. Unfortunately the salads were sold separately very expensive and small. Setting very quiet and easy to carry on a conversation. Garlic bread good but not a true baguette 🥖 crusty style. Would definitely go back and try a pizza if I could do compromise my lasagna.

Great Atmosphere and Excellent Food

By SKPeterson |

I've been going to Amalfi's for over 35 years, back to when it was just a little dumpy place with great pizza and a clock on the wall that ran backwards. Over the years, they've REALLY updated the place to the point where they're now an upscale, trendy NE Portland neighborhood restaurant. They're very popular, and almost always busy - this is both a blessing and a curse. The pizza is round, but cut into square pieces (except, of course, around the edges of the pie). Their calzone is outstanding - either their house version or the version you build yourself from their ingredient list. They've got a really outstanding selection of wine, and a very nice (but almost always crowded) bar. Parking is a pain, as the place holds WAY more than their parking lot can accommodate. This can put you out on the neighborhood streets - it's not a crumby neighborhood, but depending on the frequent rainy weather in Portland, your walk to the front door may be a bit soggy. Amalfi's also has at least one banquet room upstairs for larger groups, but that has been known to slow the food delivery in the main restaurant when it's in use. Because they're so popular, it's seldom a place for a quiet dinner. The service has always been very friendly, and willing to split checks for larger groups. If you want to bake your pizza at home, they offer take-and-bake at no extra charge. Other, more traditional Italian dishes are also very well done, but I'm usually going for the pizza or calzone. My wife and I make it there, from Beaverton, 4 - 5 times / year, and we've never been disappointed.

Not what it was

By Roger V |

Amalfi's has been a go to place since college. No more. Carbonara gave me food poisoning. That wiped out many years of good memories.

An absolute delight!

By Lynda B |

What a wonderful restaurant! The food was delicious, the service was good, and there was shopping! I would recommend anything with the pesto! If we are ever back in Portland, we will definitely go back!

No ones Perfect

By SuePiazza62 |

We have been seeing great things on Facebook from friends who love Amalfi's, so we were excited to go check them out. Things started out great with a very nice server, but the bar crowd was rather loud which flows right into the restaurant area and makes it hard to have a nice conversation over dinner. We ordered the sample appetizer plate along with our meals.... and we waited... and waited ... and waited. I think our server was helping a private party too. We did not see her often. At about 25 minutes with no salads (that came with the dinner) and no sampler plate yet she came by apologizing for the delay of our appetizers getting stuck behind the large banquet wedding party... 10 minutes later we had the sampler plate. The manager showed up to apologize for the delay and took half off the sampler plate for us. I have to say the sampler plate is enough of a meal in itself for 2 people and very good... then we waited again for the salads and again for the dinners at an hour and 15 minutes the dinners came. The crazy things was the table across from us ordered at the same time and was done and gone before our dinner showed up. The NW pasta with smoked salmon was amazing with such a flavor that just keeps you wanting more and more. The pasta that comes with pesto, sundried tomatoes and artichokes( a favorite of mine) was lacking flavor and very drab, thank heavens I had added prawns to it, they were good... I would not recommend spending you money on this dish. The bread that comes with your dinner is not good at all, tasted like an over buttered grilled piece of bread. After some 25 minutes after receiving our dinners we have yet to see our server. Finally we flag down a helper to bring us some togo containers and stack the plates to give us some room to relax.... a few minutes later the server comes by and offers us dessert and brings us our bill. Two hours later we had the bill from the time we were seated. So all in all, some super great foods and some no so good foods. A bad night for our group and the timing of things... I would give them a second chance on the service and hope it is as good as others have experienced.

What was this crap ? totaly tasteless garbage. Had better stuff from pizza hut. wouldnt recommend this place to even my worst enemy. food sucked, service sucked, everything about this place sucked. good reviews must be paid for by this dump

That's NOT Italian!

By depeche41 |

Ordered Chicken Parmigiana. Not breaded and pan fried. I had it taken away. It was also served in a tiny baking dish which made it difficult to try the two bites I took. Spaghetti sauce was bland and didn't stick to the watery noodles. Very disappointed!!

Deliciouso!

By Frederic W |

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon with the family, ample parking with a cozy atmosphere inside. We tried the splendid Meatballs and Mozz appetizer that proved to be an awesome harbinger to the main meal. In my case, the standard I judge all Italian restaurants by, spaghetti & meatballs finished off with tiramisu. All great, good price, worth many revisits.

It's all about that happy hour!!

By Marcia M |

Five of us were lucky to find a table in the bar during happy hour, and that made our day! We sampled just about everything on the happy hour menu, and we liked it all. Favorites: chicken ravioli, meatballs, anti-pasti, and scampi. Could have skipped the garlic cheese bread as we got bread with some of the other dishes. If there is a downside, it is that the drink prices were still a little pricey, and the bar seating is limited. You can only get happy hour prices in the bar. The last time I ate here, I ate in the restaurant, and, while the food was good, it was overpriced.

Italian Restaurant - Good Food

By cheljohnson |

We went to Amalfi's to celebrate my daughter's 23rd birthday. We had a party of 11 and we were able to make a reservation. Several other restaurants we had called would do reservations, which did not work for us as we had 2 one year old children with us. They had the table ready for us including high chairs and coloring pages for the little ones. The food was great and the service was fast. I ordered the gluten-free spaghetti and it was delicious. There was so much on my plate that I had 2 extra meals from that one plate.

Excellent Food and Service

By Golfinfools |

You won't be disappointed with the food, menu and service at Amalfi's. Wonderful food. Great atmosphere. Had a wonderful meal. Great gathering place. Definetly will be returning soon. If you can't eat in you can purchase to go from their extensive on site market. Love love love this place

Pleasantly Surprised

By SawtoothClub |

I hadn't been to this restaurant in years and remembered it as being a traditional Italian restaurant when I was a kid-they always had spumoni ice cream. But I was pleasantly surprised when I went while in town last week-they had done some remodeling that really updated the feel of the restaurant and made it much more open. And they added a bar which looked like it had a great happy hour, and outdoor seating on a patio. It was really cute! The menu is still basically pasta, but they had a great caprese salad, wine selection and soups. I ordered the side of spaghetti for $4 and it was more than enough-a great portion. I definitely recommend checking it out for happy hour or dinner.

Well dinner was good, all of us were satisfied. Lots to eat, good all round food, pleasant wait staff and service good. BUT......Who doesn't have EFTPOS in 2017??????? In this cashless society cash at the end of the dinner is unheard of . Oh please, cop the bank fees and get with the times and take cards. It is the 21st century.

Decent Italian Food

By Michael B |

Amalfi's has been in existence, like, forever. This is probably because they serve reliable Italian dishes. Food was not five star but was decent and tasty. They serve large portions, so be prepared to take some leftovers home, or order a la carte. They have a parking lot which is a rare commodity in their neighborhood. It does get a little crowded at peak dinner hours. Service is friendly and efficient.

Family and Neighborhood Friendly

By docgeo70 |

In business at 47th and Fremont since 1959, this restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night at 630. Unlike the tfendy, food snobbish restaurants that I have reviewed in Portland, Amalfi's hosts and servers were friendly, courteous, and not in awe of their establishment. It was just darn good food. There was a mix of folks from locals to families to visitors. The chicken salad my Wife got had ample, excellent chicken and could feed 2-3 people. My lasagna was a good blend of meat sauce, mozzarella, and pasta. The spumoni was delicious. Prices were very reasonable for the portion received. So go, enjoy and see why they have been around for going on six decades!
