Great time with daughter and niece

By Breely22 |

We had a noon reservation, and were promptly sat. The girls loved having their dolls next to them, and they were given a cup and saucer. Everyone was given a choice of an appetizer. The tomato bisque was delicious. For an entrees I had a grilled chicken sand which with mozzarella and peppers. It was very good. As with all "theme " or specialty places, it wasn't cheap, but it wasn't expensive either. For 4 adults and 1 child priced, it was $103 with tip. I spend more then that at the Olive Garden. We have had a birthday party at the one in Los Angeles, and it was extremely pricey. This was a better value. The store was smaller, but still exciting for any little girl who loves dolls. A special memory for sure.

Amazing for all ages!

By JSMinor |

My daughter, niece and I went and spent three hours looking at all the displays, having lunch and getting a dolls hair done! So much fun! The atmosphere is amazing! The food was delicious and very accommodating for gluten and dairy sensitive eaters. Even our doll had s place setting! Such a great visit, recommend to all!

Special Treat

By DDSRCP |

This was a cute experience. The food was too pricey, but the staff was sweet. Your girl gets to sit her doll in a booster chair at the table with you, and the doll gets a keepsake tea cup and saucer. I did notice later in the day that the tables weren't bussed and no staff was present. It looked kind of odd.

Disappointing

By traveler056 |

When we got to the bistro, they had no reservation and the faces on two little girls tumbled. They finally said they would seat us as a walk-in. They seated us at a table in the middle of an empty room. We asked for a booth and they said the other tables were reserved but by the time we finished they were still empty. We said multiple times we were there for tea but the waitress said " you here just for dessert". I repeated again we were there for tea. She brought us the types of tea-- I explained again we were there for afternoon tea. I asked what was included in tea and she had to wander around for a tea menu. She brought the girls hot chocolate with no teapot. With an empty room, we had to track her down for refills on drinks, ticket, etc. American girl needs to step it up in the bistro. The food presentation was nice, but everything else could have been so much nicer with very little effort and better customer service attitudes--and should have been with all the money that we spend in that store. The waitress made no effort to engage with the girls or make them feel special. It wasn't just our waitress, other waitresses were standing around but did not respond to us when we were in need of something at our table-- they just continued to talk with each other with their arms crossed. We have bee to this bistro several other times and have experienced the same thing-- each time, I think we must have gotten them on a bad day, but obviously, it is the way they operate which is so very unfortunate.

Bistro with my granddaughter

By beverlymc1 |

My granddaughter, celebrating her 7th birthday, and I went to American Girl Bistro. A must is for the girls to bring their American Girl dolls, so Kate brought Marie Grace, who was given a pull up chair, teacup and saucer, and a crown. Kate received a crown, lunch, dessert with candle and song, and a goodie bag with various things including a Celebrate t-shirt for Marie Grace. The salad I had, as well as Kate's spaghetti, was good. A special event for the new doll, Saige, was going on also, so she enjoyed that. Great customer service in all areas of the store. Reservations for the Bistro are a must.

Good food in children's store

By Danda0624 |

This restaurant caters to little girls that bring their dolls and eat with them in chairs that attach to the table. The bistro has 'deals' that include any menu item and drinks for a package price. The salmon was really good and the pizza was average quality. The service was good but a little slow to get the food out. A fun experience for your daughters.

Amazing Birthday Celebration

By TexasBahamamama |

Took 5 year old granddaughter, her mother and four aunts for a birthday celebration. Even though it's geared toward younger girls the menu was fabulous with appetizer and entree in one price. I had grilled salmon that was as good as any I have had. Of course the decor is adorable. They have little high chairs for your dolls with take home cups and saucers fir each doll. We ordered the cake extra. After bringing it out and singing happy birthday the cut it and serve with ice cream. It was a special day with a lot of memories.

Our girls loved it

By Amy J |

We took our daughters there for our oldest's 9th birthday. Both girls (our other one is 2.5) loved it. They really liked that the dolls got high hairs to sit in. Plus, both dolls got tiny little plates and cups to bring home. The food was just okay, but overall it was a fun experience and we would go back.

A girl's dream come true!

By millszone |

So it's not Disney World, but it is a Doll World! Every girl should have the experience to dine in a place that caters to them and their doll in a place like this. Their are appetizers, main course meals, and desserts (all per person). Everything is served in a beautiful presentation. Drinks include pink lemonade, strawberry milk, choc milk, tea, and sodas. There are conversation cards on the tables to read and enjoy sharing answers with friends. Expect to not be rushed. It is a place to sit and dine for a while, so make the time spent together with your daughter cherished. She will think you are awesome for taking her to a place that cares about dolls!

Little Girl's Paradise with Average Food

By texastravels4 |

The decorations were cute, but the food could be better quality. The chicken on the coconut chicken salad was overcooked and way too crispy. The meatballs on the pasta were a little bland. My daughter and mother-in-law loved the chicken soup though. And the restaurant and store are a little girl's paradise. Be sure to have a reservation, especially in peak popular times, like spring break. Also, be there within 15 minutes of the reservation time or the computer will delete your reservation and you may have a hard time getting seated.

Don't go for the food or the service

By Myerwood |

It's cute and it's fun for American Girl girls. I live about a mile from the Dallas Galleria, so I've been to the AG Bistro many times since it opened. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it's not. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it's not. Yesterday, during a spontaneous 1pm lunch when only two other tables were occupied, both were bad. Wilted lettuce and soggy cherry tomatoes in the salad, brownies as hard as rocks, water served in dirty glasses and never refilled without us asking. That sort of thing. If you choose to go, remember you're there to make a young girl happy, not for the food or the service. And maybe you'll get lucky and be there on a day when one or both are good.

Service Poor/Food OK

I don't plan on coming back with my daughter. We were barely attended to while we dined and we waited over 30min for our lunch. It was not busy. We were not impressed.

Nieces first trip

By Paradise733637 |

We took our niece to get her first American Girl Doll! She loved every moment of the trip and came home with a new doll and outfit. We also ate upstairs in the cafe which was cool as she could have her doll next to her.

Granddaughters loved the time spent here!

By Elcee |

Loved the convenience of having a restaurant and even a salon for your dolls in one convenient shopping place. The granddaughters loved the time spent having their dolls hair done and also a fun time shopping and having lunch. Lunch was okay, nothing special but the atmosphere made up for it. Expect to spend a lot of money though.

Great hospitality! Enjoyable visit

By Punch2013 |

Brought my soon to be 6 year old for her birthday. Everyone at the store and bistro were extremely kind and helpful and made the day truly memorable. Food at the bistro did take a little while to come but server was very friendly and other staff members assisted as well. Food was good- nothing spectacular but it was what I expected. I had hummus and turkey club and my daughter had spinach and artichoke dip and Mac and cheese. Definitely recommend making a reservation for bistro. We did not want to do hair salon but if you think you would want to then make a reservation for sure. Wait was 2 hours for hair salon while we were there! My daughter wanted to get her doll's ears pierced and even though it is in the hair salon you do not need a reservation for that.

Bad service, awful food and all around bad experience

By norma71 |

I have had lunch here on several occasions sine my daughter loves the place. In the past they had a different menu which was nit bad but, not worth the price. This time what I normally order the said they did not serve any longer, so I chose the chicken, it was a child plate with 2 small strips and macaroni with cheese and some hard tasteless fruit which in the past was shaped like stars etc now it was just uneven hard pieces. My daughter got chicken too but sine she was 4 they gave her 1 piece and raw veggies ( really for a 4 year old) I had to give her my Mac n cheese si we both ended up hungry! Going to the start of this we got to the bistro 15 minutes early and asked to be seated and they said no our reservation was not until 1230, like many stated in other reviews, there where tons of available tables. I went back at 3 minutes before my reservation and she said no your reservation is at 1230 so at 1234 I was seated. I told the lady my daughter was celebrating her birthday and she asked her name, (I was thinking maybe she will get a cookie or something) but nothing! We ate and I needed a refill but in the 25 minutes we sat there waiting to see our waitress we never got a refill! I asked fir the check (asked the bus bit for it) then the waitress came, I face her $100 cash and it took her over 13 minutes to give me my change I was so angry! The experience was so disappointing! Never again instead go to mcdonalds it is cheaper you get free toys with ur meals and you get better service! Sad but true

Girls day

By Sarahricky |

I went with my mother and two daughters for the day! We love American Girl and couldn't wait to try their food. The food was amazing but didn't have a very big variety. That was kinda disappointing but what we ordered was good.

American Girl Dallas

By havegpswilltravel |

We had made reservations for lunch for three at the Bistro and we arrived later than we expected and did not have time to buy my daughter's dolls before lunch and they were able to change the reservation time for 45 minutes later. The food was better than expected. The milkshakes were huge.

Oh come on!!!

By Barb S |

I was visiting my granddaughters in Dallas and wanted to take them for their 'first American Girl' experience. They were so excited, and as part of the shopping spree, we went upstairs to the Bistro to have lunch with their new dolls. What is so extremely disappointing is that the experience is fun downstairs (where I dropped $400) and upstairs is so awful! We were seated right away but then completely ignored for 10 minutes (which is a lifetime for young kids). Finally someone showed up who said 'since your server hasn't helped you, here are your menus' - - - what?! So go find the server and yell at her, don't tell me that you have crappy servers. BTW - we were early so there was NO ONE there except the 6 of us. Someone showed up to take our orders and simply took our order and walked away. Hey Bristro, here's a suggestion: the little girls who are SO happy to be there with their new dolls (and by the size of the crowd downstairs you guys are making BANK) show at least a little enthusiasm! How about a comment about their new dolls? Or ask is they're having a fun day with their new dolls - - - something?!?! So not only was the food cold, took forever to get and didn't even taste good, their service was awful. We pasted on our smiles so that the girls would remember a 'good time' but a word of advice: buy your doll and the over-priced accessories and go have lunch somewhere in the mall where the food is warm, good and served with at least a smile. The staff upstairs could care less about your kids and their American Girl meal.

Dallas American Girl

By Angelica_Soliz1 |

This was our first visit to the Dallas store/bistro. This one in particular was over priced and quite small compared to the LA store/cafe. It definitely kept our little one entertained though!

Don't go for the food

By Billy B |

This place is for little girls to take their dolls to tea, so the menu is geared toward the kids. It wasn't bad food, but not a large selection. My daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, and I do this to celebrate the grand's birthday. It's a day just for us girls and the main focus is on the birthday girl. The waitress brings a seat so the doll can sit at the table with us, she brings a tiny tea set for the doll (that the child gets to keep) and a birthday crown. You can make reservations and plans can include a nice little birthday cake. Downstairs there is a beauty shop for the doll, matching clothing for girl and her doll, books, magazines, etc. It is an expensive place but American Girl isn't just about dolls. Each doll has a name and is from an era in history. I especially like Emily Walker books. They tell of her family's flight from slavery and it isn't pretty. The books are true and not sugar-coated.

My Girls Love It...

By The Docc |

The food isn't great but my girls love coming here. My son and I just stand back and cringe but the girls run all over the store and then eat their hearts out.

What a fabulous time!

By Suelena |

Brought my daughter for her birthday.. Made reservations for lunch and bought the birthday package as well. Worth every penny seeing the happiness on my daughters face. The waitress was wonderful and did a great job in making our lunch a great experience. The food presentation is lovely. The food quality is not the best, but was good. My daughter was having the best time of her life, so I'm not complaining! They brought her out a small round birthday cake, which the 3 of us had a slice each and had left overs of to take back to our hotel and finished off the next night. She also got a goodie bag with a birthday tshirt for her doll and other fun goodies! Truly an awesome experience for little girls and for this mom and the grandmother as well. We all three thought it was a fabulous and fun experience. If for some reason the service or meal is not up to par for you.. keep your distress to yourself, so your daughter can enjoy the best experience a little girl can have. Highly recommend for all the little girls and their American Girl Dolls!

Great birthday lunch

By Williamsland |

Make your reservations ahead of time or you may have to wait a while to see if they can squeeze you in. I took my daughter for her 7th birthday and she loved it. They have high chairs for the dolls so they can sit at the table with you. The tables are decorated very cute, after all this is a place designed with little girls in mind. The tables also have conversation question boxes which are a great idea. The meals include and appetizer and entree are are a fixed amount of aprox $16. We had the pretzel bites each as an appetizer and they were just fine. My daughter got the cheese pizza which had a large portion size for a little girl, I had the turkey club which was just fine. She finished off the meal with a chocolate sundae and a happy birthday song. It was a special treat for her on a special day but not a place I'd choose to go often.

Exceeded our expectations!

By karenklaus |

Our AG birthday party in the Bistro was a delight! The children adored all of the special touches that made the party unique and fun. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was surprisingly good with ample servings. The milkshakes and root beer floats were big and delicious! The birthday cake is moist, flavorful and very pretty. The experience was very good. It exceeded our expectations.

Daughters First Visit!

By Randi |

We went for my daughters birthday! She took her doll and picked out some outfits and things in the store then we had a wonderful lunch at the bistro! It was wonderful! She had the best time! We will be back!

Fun trip with your daughters!

By W55Louisiana |

The food is very good, both my daughters loved the trip. They really enjoyed shopping for new clothes for their dolls! Also, getting their dolls hair done was fun to watch and there were styles for every doll. The birthday cake was to die for! My daughters ask quite often to go to back.

8 year old is too young for childrens menu?

By mommaofsweetgirl |

My family and I have visted the AG Bistro before and the food is always very good. This time we arrived and the server gave us menu's. We asked for kids menu's since we knew the kids menu usually had fun versions of the adult plates. She said the kids menu is only for kids 4 and under. Really? The average age of the child eating there has got to be around 9-11. They brought my daughter 2 large peices of french toast and FOUR pieces of bacon. Wow, that is a lot of food for a girl that eats like a bird!! The service wasn't as good as it normally is and I was surprised that we had to pay close to $15 for our daughters food. We will go back to the store but probably not the bistro...

a walking bug in the salad

By Joe S |

The waitress placed the salad plate on the table. A bug literally crawled out of the plate. The waitress noticed it and placed the napkin on top of it but was kind to take the plate away. The management team came in to apologize but were gracious to say they will take the salad price off the bill. We still had to pay for the 4 coffees and the girls juice which is more than a full meal elsewhere. Pathetic and pitiful management team. I just hope the top management read this.

Mediocre and rude place

By Myriam P |

We went for my daughter birthday, very excited, but even with a reservation we have to wait about 10 min to be seat, then about 20 min for the rude waitress to acknowledge we were there, the food is ok nothing fancy or delicious, when the waitress bring a ice-cream for my daughter to blow the candle, she give her about 3 min to finished and took it, because of the demand of people to get in, they rush you to leave, very disappointment place.

Not terrible

By Craig H |

Comparing this place to the usual kiddy places, it is much better. It is much cleaner, the food was not completely terrible, cloth napkins / metal silverware and the service was great. The excitement on my little girls face more than made up for any deficiencies. I am sure I will be back.

Fun celebration!

By CWollard |

Recently celebrated my granddaughter's 6th birthday at the American Girl store and cafe. She chose the store over a birthday party! We had a great time. The girls loved shopping in the store and seeing all of the dolls and accessories. Had an appointment at the salon for her doll. Everyone in the store was great. Very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed lunch at the cafe and the food was delicious. They make it very fun for the kids. I'm sure we will be back soon!

WONDERFUL!!!!

By AnaH32 |

Lovely place!!!! Extreamly clean, and beautifully laid out. Food at the cafeteria (on second floor) was extraordinary!! I had the rainbow cake wich it was delicious and my cofee...mmm ..exquisite!!. I enjoyed very much my visits to this large AG store.

It could be sooo much more!

By Mom2toopreciouskids |

Ok I was a little disappointed with this experience. The bistro was adorable and they seated my daughters doll at the table in a special chair and then brought her a cup and saucer, but that is where the doll's experience ended. We had a nice lunch with very yummy food, but the doll was not ever addressed again throughout the lunch. Now I know this might sound stupid for me to complain that my daughter's doll did not get to eat some fake food, but if I'm paying 15 dollars a plate for an experience with your American Girl doll, then that is what I want. All they would have to do is bring out some of that cute little food like they sell in the store for the doll to pretend to eat. They could even make a little set that you could purchase as a souvinear that includes food that looks like what you had for lunch. Anyway, my daughter was not that impressed and said next time she would skip the meal and just get her doll's hair styled or something with that money we spent.

American Girl doll store and bistro

By Kathy T |

My 6 y/o granddaughter loved EVERTHING.... the tea, the store, the doll hair salon. Thought i was never going to get her out of there. We had a great afternoon😀

Fun experience with the girls

By SWBoerneMom |

The entire American Girl store (including the Bistro) is an experience. It's hard to not get caught up and spend gobs of money. The bistro is nothing fancy, very casual but girly. The service was friendly but slow. The food was fresh and tasty, although nothing exceptional. Next time I'm back in town with the girl, we'll probably go back, because my 10-year-old loved it. It was a nice, bonding, expensive experience.

Clearer directions needed

By KJ W |

This is not in the mall. It is a stand alone building adjacent to the mall. We were rushing to make a reservation on a day they closed early and could not get a clear answer on where to park. Other than that it was a yummy meal with great service.

Beware of broken glass!!!

By Olesya |

Reserved lunch for my daughter birthday last week. So I was served water with broken ice and unfortunately I drank it that's when I realized it. I called the manager, who said:"Oh, sorry. Do you want another water?" To make story short, he sent new water in the plastic cups and never came back. His assistant brought a bill with remark of our great experience. I told her I had the worst experience in my life! I never knew how much it hurts a little tiny glass scratched my threat. I showed her pictures. She went talked to the manager and offered us 20%... So we left very disappointed in nice words to say... Please watch your drinks there! we would never return there.

Perfect!!

By Bfontenot |

Atmosphere was great, food was really good. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. I thought this would be like ordinary fast food.. Wrong! I had the Salmon and it was perfect. Everyone at my table loved the food. Ahna was the perfect waitress for us :)

So ridiculous

By Jennifer L |

Appointment required, the thing was deserted. Staff rude and 45 minutes, web site says reservations not required.does this look busy???

surprisingly good

By bohemianways |

My nine year old daughter and I had dinner at the bistro and we both enjoyed our meals. I had the salmon which was very good and my daughter had tic tac toe pizza. The food was actually very good, better than anything in Montana (which...I have to admit... is not hard to do). We both enjoyed the friendly and attentive service and the fun and elegant atmosphere. The dolls get there own chair and tea set (you get to take the tea set home) and the napkin ring is a hair band that you get to take home. Highly recommended! Fun and memorable experience!

Afternoon tea!

By Cms2716 |

My 6 year old granddaughter said her afternoon at the American Girl store and Bistro was the best day of her life. We spent almost an hour in the store and having here dolls ears pierced before our tea reservation. Our waitress brought booster seats and place settings for her dolls along with our beverages. The finger sandwiches, fruit and yogurt dip, and mini hotdogs and hamburgers were a treat and then the desserts were a tastey. The environment, service, and treats made for a great experience.

Terribly disappointing experience 2 times

By BrooksieTX |

I have taken my girls here 2 times. At lunch and dinner. Both times the service was HORRIBLE and the food was cold and NOT worth the price. The seemed understaffed both times which makes no sense because you can only dine with a reservation. It was not busy either time, only about 1/2 the restaurant was full. We have a food allergy and made the notation in the reservation and both times had to wait even longer to order because the staff was not made aware we needed to order off an allergen menu. I understand with places like this it is about the experience but the food should at least be better than bad, cold, fast food and the service should be amazing! This time we went to celebrate my daughters birthday with 8 guests. We were sat quickly but after 15 minutes I had to go ask someone for a server to take our drink order. It took over 2 hours for us to have dinner because it was so slow. All our food came out cold and they brought 1/2 of the food out about 10 minutes before the others. My burger was burned to a crisp yet cold and served with cold fries. I will say the only thing that has been good either time was the desserts and fun specialty drinks for the kids. If your child just HAS to visit the bistro I would say just order those and save some money, time and disappointment.

Make reservations

By sbsvb |

Make reservations days in advance, as the restaurant fills up quickly. The service was outstanding and they make the girls feel special. The food was decent and the dessert was great. It was about $60 for 2 of us but it was worth the experience and we loved every minute of it!

Great for dessert

By BushkaTexas |

We have visited the American Girl store and bistro in Dallas several times but usually only stop at the bistro for dessert with our daughter and her doll. The ice cream is very good. The atmosphere is fun and she loves getting the chair for her doll. They even brought her doll a small drink. The store is fun to shop at or get your doll's hair done. They have activities sometime at this store but you have to check the schedule. The store is located outside of the Galleria and you can usually find parking in the lot next to it. We always enjoy our visit to AG.

Fun Place

By PamJ4 |

Took my grand daughter for her birthday... staff were very pleasant, food was okay, grand daughter enjoyed having doll sitting at the table with her and that doll was served a drink in her own cup... a little expensive... over all a very fun place for a Girl's Day Out!

Pretty good overall

By Scott E |

Our experience at American girl bistro was good. Server was friendly and patient as we have a lot of food allergies. She also brought a doll cup and saucer for my daughter's doll. Server had good interaction with my daughter and recognizing her birthday even though she was very busy. Good food too. Try the salmon

A little girl's dream

By jessyleigh |

We took my daughter here as a birthday present after we shopped for her new AG dolls. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation and they went ahead and seated us. Our waitress was pleasant. The food was prepared perfectly to our order. It was just precious having my daughter's new dolls sit next to her at lunch. Food was pricey at $15 per person, however, we found the portion sizes to be quite large, especially since it includes an appetizer. Dessert was memorable as they sang "Happy Birthday" to my daughter. My husband and father had the salmon and both found it to be excellent. We would definitely eat here again, if given the opportunity.

Boring birthday lunch

By hpaysnoe |

This place is horrifically understaffed. Our waiter was courteous and friendly however he was swamped and had to continually apologize for the terrible service. The food took way too long, we were there an hour, not exaggerating, because my daughter asked me, an hour before our lunch arrived. It was her birthday and it was supposed to be magical and delicious. The food was average at best. When your customers are all first timers and no repeats, you should start to wonder whether your restaurant stinks...

Your daughters will love it

By AustinEEE |

I took my daughter here for a special treat and she loved it. The service was excellent and we rather enjoyed the food. Don't come without an american doll, who will be seated at the table with you.

Birthday Celebration Gone Wrong!

By Kimmy |

My family and I came to Texas to specifically get my four year old daughter soon to be 5 next week her first American Girl doll! When we walked in the store we were promptly greeted by a woman named Erica! She was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the products. She engaged my daughter and made her feel very special. I asked her about the Bistro and she encouraged us to go up stairs to request a table. We were greeted by a hostesses named MeMe. I explained we had reservations the day before and we missed them. They stated it was okay and we could still eat. We were really excited to eat at the Bistro. We were taken to our table and we were basically just ignored. No one from the waitstaff came and greeted us. Meme eventually came back to the table to take our order. I ordered artichoke dip and chicken strips, my husband ordered salad and flatbread, but our son had noodles and fruit, and the Birthday girl ordered pizza and fruit. The fruit was old and wilted my chicken strips were hard and old and my husband flatbread was just down right terrible. Overall we will never eat the Bistro ever ever again. For the price it is ABSOLUTELY not worth it! Truly disappointed.............

Experience outweighed the Expense

By Simplypstyle |

I'm not going to sugar coat this... it was EXPENSIVE a very EXPENSIVE trip from the visit to the store, the salon, and the bistro altogether was expensive, but the experience I had watching my daughter light up outweighed any amount I spent. (No don't mean I will do it again anytime soon, but it means it was worth the one visit to say we been there done that.) She had no idea we were going to the American Girl Doll store that day. We had never been there so I wanted to make sure we experienced it all, and we did! The bistro was very cute. I had the grilled salmon and it was DELICIOUS! the sauce on it was amazing! We had the warm pretzel bites as a starter. They were good, but nothing to write home about. I believe my daughter had the chicken tenders with honey mustard and enjoyed them. I do not recall what my mom had but I do remember her saying it was really good and she ate it all. My daughter is lactose intolerant so she had the mix berry sherbet for dessert. It had a strong berry flavor and my mom ended up eating most of it. My daughter loved that her American Girl Doll was treated as an equal at the lunch table. I wouldn't call this "fine dining" by any means, but it is sure fine dining prices.

Just okay. . .

By Tiersa M |

Let me preface this review by saying I have taken my daughter to the NYC location as well, so we did have something by which to compare the Dallas AG store. The store is smaller than the NYC location, but it is still a massive doll store. My daughter, age 6 was able to find a ton of things she wanted so make sure you bring your wallet! It is very organized, neat, and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't have a reservation at the bistro, so we sat at the counter. They still brought a little seat out of my daughter's doll. They had about the same menu as NYC and prices were comparable. They do not serve alcohol at the Dallas location. My daughter had the chicken fingers with mac and cheese and I had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. A starter was also included in the price so we had the spinach dip. We finished the meal with the dessert sampler. All in all, it was okay. Not terrible, but not amazing either. Pretty much what you'd expect from a doll store bistro. We had a great time and we will return, but we both agreed the NYC location is superior.

Excellent Experience

By BrianaSmith31 |

This is a must do for your little girl who loves dolls. Each doll (and you can bring multiple) get her own seat. They also get a little cup and plate that you get to take home. The silverware is wrapped in a napkin then has a pink bow tie on it that you can take home. The price includes an appetizer and entree, but not drinks, unless its a kids meal for 4 and under. There were 5 of us. Both girls had the fancy fondue app, which was great it came with a little cup of strawberry yogurt (which you get to keep the cute little flower in the yogurt), 2 kabobs of fruit (very fresh), and 2 tiny muffins so that they could share with their dolls. The girls also got root beer floats which came in cool cups and were good. My daughter got the pizza which was really good. The other girl got the buttery pasta and she really enjoyed. My son got mac and cheese and it also came with fresh veggies and fruit and a cup of ranch for the veggies. Everything came with something in the shape of a star (their logo). It was really cute. I got the spinach dip which was okay (too much cream cheese for me) and I also got the turkey sandwich with fries which was amazing, but a little over priced considering everything was 15.95. My mom got the tomato soup which she said was really good and the fish which she said was amazing and couldn't even eat it all there was so much. Service - They do not sit you before your reservation at all so we just walked around for 15 minutes. The waitress was slow and seemed to forget about us even though there were only like 5 tables in the whole restaurant. I probably would never go there without my daughter because it is really more of an experience than anything. PINK everywhere and sparkly floors the decor is definitely for a princess!!

Amazing food. Amazing service. One of a kind experience with your daughter.

This was to be a birthday luncheon for my 7 year old so I was trying not to focus on the price. Upon arrival, we were greeted and treated like royalty. They go out of their way to make your daughter feel special! Our waiter was incredible and the service was first class. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was very good...VERY good. (Order the salmon!) The waiter spoke to the girls and made them feel like they were a part of the whole process which they loved. We also ordered the birthday package and the cake was out of this world. This was one of the best days I have ever spent with my daughter and the price, while high, was money well spent. I highly recommend this bistro for quality time with your daughter or whole family (there were dads and brothers there too:)

Excellent service, fast and easy, make reservations

By BigHilda |

This is my second time eating at this location, but last time we had their special teatime package (which they are not doing at present). I made a reservation online, which was easy to modify once our plans changed a little closer to the date. Arriving and checking in, we were really early, but the friendly hostess said she would text if a table opened sooner. We were able to sit down about 30 minutes before our reservation was set for, which was great! The menu is not huge, but it's nice to be able to choose the appetizer and the main course. I asked for side salad instead of fries, and this was not a problem. Everything came out correctly, and quickly, and the waiter was also very friendly and helpful. They also provide a doll placemat with fun activities on the back, a doll plate, a doll glass, and of course, a chair for the doll to use. They also gave us another conversation starter paper that was fun for us to talk about while we waited for our food. The food was delicious! I recommend the cheeseburger! Also, we really enjoyed the strawberry smoothie we had along with the meal. I would definitely eat here again the next time we are going to the American Girl Store.

Okay! Pricey!

The place is cute especially for those with little girls like our family. The food is okay , not great! Definitely can get better food outside.

Little Girl heaven

By sugarlandmom |

My daughters ages 8 & 10 are big American girl fans and have visited the Chicago store/restaurant many times and the Dallas store twice. The Dallas store is nice, with fun doll displays, but it is less than half the size of Chicago's with fewer smaller historical doll displays and not as many activities for the girls. We have eaten dinner in Dallas twice-once with a large party of gymnastics teammates & moms, and once with my cousin and his three girls ages 7-12. The food is not inexpensive ($15 for an appetizer & dinner, ages 4 & up), but it costs less than Chicago, and is a reasonable value for the quantity, quality & atmosphere. Girls can bring their own dolls or can borrow one from the restaurant (a variety of ethnicities are available, which I care about since my girls are half Asian, half Hispanic with dark hair & complexions). The dolls get their own chair which clips onto the table and a doll-sized cup & saucer (available to purchase). There is a box of conversation starter ?s which our girls loved asking each other. There are about eight appetizers & nine entrees to choose from for dinner. There are special breakfast, brunch, & lunch menus which we have not yet tried. We tried the fruit plate, which consisted of a fruity mini-muffin, a fruit kabob with yogurt dip, and fruit salad, the pretzel appetizer with several pretzel balls and separate bowls of cheese & mustard dip, and the spinach and artichoke dip with toasted bread. All were very tasty with generous portion sizes. Entrees included the mini-hot dog & burger with fruit salad on the side, spaghetti & meatballs (3 hearty sized ones, not mini), a huge sirloin burger and fries, pepperoni pizza, and grilled salmon with risotto and vegetables. Again, the food was good but not gourmet, with plenty of leftovers. There are several fun drinks available including fruit juice sparklers, fruit and milk shakes, hot chocolate, root beer, and orange creamsicle floats. Desserts are particularly fun & well-priced. The brownie pops (3/$4.95) were adorable & delicious. The warm brownie flower pot, served in a flower pot with strawberry petals and a large scoop of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream, is huge & tasty. The chocolate fondue plate can easily be shared by 3 adults and comes with a large pot of chocolate, several strawberries, brownies, marshmallows & pound cake cubes. Our server was very friendly and informative. The decor is diner style (as opposed to the more formal decorated room in Chicago). Overall I like the food better in Dallas due to the variety & price, but the store in Chicago is much bigger with more displays & decorations. We will return.

Shop is amazing, the food not so much.

Made a reservation and was so excited to get to eat there. My daughter was over the moon but we had problems. First, we were told her doll would get served also and that she would get a complimentary dish set to take home. This never happened and we had to ask for it at the end of the meal. The server was prompt in getting our appetizer but an hour passed before we got our food. The waitress was very sweet as what we ordered did not taste good at all. The pasta dish I ordered was undercooked and was so tart that I couldn't eat it. The waitress took my order off the ticket and I was grateful for that. My daughters food was only the pasta with no sauce but that was my fault for not reading more thoroughly. Daughter still was able to get a few items at the store for her doll so she wasn't too upset just a little disappointed.

My girls LOVE it!

Not great food but my girls did not notice it! The service is good but not great! My daughters have their birthdays there a lot! And those are usually well done!

Great food in a wonderful store!!

By MellyRussi |

This eatery sits in the American Girl Place Store. Men & boys beware...you will be surrounded by girls, dolls and lot of pink! Prices are fair I thought just maybe include childs drink as they will not have multiple refils. Staff friendly and efficient. We had lunch and it was $15 a person, no drinks included. You could pick a starter and main course. I had the fruit and salmon, both excellent. My daughter had cheese quesadillas she loved and mac & cheese she was so-so with. I tried it and it was ok. Little seats are brought to the table so the dolls may sit with you. Portion size good. Outside is the doll hair salon and downstairs the huge doll store. The store is not somewhere you will come multiple times. Its pricy. I mean it makes anything in Disney look cheap if that helps you picture just how much money to bring. Save for it. We went for my daughters birthday. It was her gift and took the place of her party but a day we'll never forget. Make reservations, you may do so on line.

so adorable

This store and bistro was totally adorable!! My 8 year old niece had so much fun and got a adorable shirt for a decent price.

First trip to American Girl

Was a little disappointed in the menu selection but the appetizers we ordered were very good. Us mom's would have appreciated the option of purchasing a glass of wine though!!

Great Food and Service

This was our 2nd time eating here, the first we had a full birthday party for our daughter, the staff was friendly, the food was fresh and the menu was great. Overall it was a great time and a great meal!

Fabulous Birthday Party Experience!

By Carol H |

We celebrated my daughter's 10th birthday yesterday in one of the upstairs private party rooms near the cafe. Everything was top notch. The girls all ordered burgers and the adults enjoyed the avocado chicken salad - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food! We also enjoyed the pink lemonade and appetizers, all of which were beautifully presented. Jordan was our server and she took amazing care of us. after our lunch, she brought out a lovely full-sized cake lit with 10 candles for my daughter to blow out. The cake was moist and the buttercream icing was perfect. The girls also enjoyed having their dolls sit with them and have their own doll-sized cups and plates. The girls all got to take home a goodie bag with cute items for their dolls, which they loved. All in all, an excellent experience which was well worth the money spent.

don't waste your time

By Susan S |

We went to the American Girl store to shop, pamper my 8 year old daughters' dolls, and eat at the bistro. The store was nice but the Bistro is not worth a visit. We had a 4:30 pm reservation but wanted to go in early for a snack instead. But the hostess had to get her supervisor to help her. There were a few people at the "bar" and one table with guests but the rest of the place WAS EMPTY. You would have thought the place was full and we needed to wait in line. When we got to our table, we decided to have an appetizer and wanted to share the pretzel balls. The waiter suggested we get something else too as the dish came with ONLY THREE PRETZEL BALLS. Why charge money for three pretzel balls and why not offer an even number of them???

Nice Visit to AG Bistro

By KBD87 |

We made our first visit in several years and had a very good experience. If it's the weekend or holidays you must make a reservation. We had reservations for 2:30 and were seated early. The restaurant is very cute and even has a spot for the dolls to sit at the table so have your girls bring their favorite doll to eat! Our server John was magnificent. He explained everything and was very personable. Each meal comes with an appetizer so I had the hummus and bread which was good and the Salmon, which was excellent for my entree. Others had pasta and pizza dishes. The menu is not huge but has a good variety. This is a nice add on for an American Girl visit.

Are you kidding me?

By gojushiho |

It was entertaining to my eight year old for about 20 minutes...and I cried for the next month while I waited for my credit card bill. My daughter loves AG and we have (too) many of their items from their store in Manhattan. This is just a cheesy way to extend the brand (which I respect) but the food was not even McDonald's quality at twice the price. Come...but don't stay.

It is a Cult

By uppertexside |

First off, can we not distinguish between dolls and humans? The food is in no way heroic nor owns up to the American Girl hype of expectations. I'd rather stay home and watch another American Girl video than fight the insane crowds. There is so much social pressure on grandparents and parents to show how much they love their kids by dropping big chunks of money here. Why don't we give the money to poor kids who can't dream of such affluence?

Surprisingly fun (and good salmon!)

By Browncoat_11 |

We had a great time at the little cafe inside the American Girl store in Dallas. The online reservation system was quick and easy. Our server, Georgio, truly appeared to enjoy his job. The American Girl dolls at our table were treated to special booster chairs and teacups with Sprite inside to the delight of our youngest tablemates. The salmon was surprisingly good, but I'd stay away from the turkey panini (the cheddar made it too greasy). The cost is $15/pp (before drinks) but the salmon was worth it and when you consider each person gets to select a personal appetizer, it is a huge amount of food. (Takeout carriers are available at the end of the meal.) As for the appetizers, the spinach dip was strangely sweet, but the pretzel bite dips were a hit all around. We were too full for dessert, which was a shame because everyone wanted to try the trio of ice cream cones (vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate) dipped in sprinkles. We'll definitely spring for the lunch again.

Great food & service!

I went in not expecting much but more for the experience of taking my god daughter and was pleasantly surprised! Our server was fabulous, the food far exceeded my expectations and the birthday package was great! Highly recommend!

First American Girl Experience

By Adventurer591017 |

We took our daughter to the AG store in Dallas to celebrate her 4th birthday. The dolls are recommended for older girls, but our daughter had played with one and had been asking about them. She LOVED the store although she was a little overwhelmed. She had a hard time understanding that that some of the dolls were the same doll, but with different outfits on. Eventually she opted for a Truly Me doll and then picked a couple of cheaper outfits (which made her parents happy). We also had lunch in the bistro. It was so cute seeing all the little girls with their dolls. The food was decent, but nothing exceptional. I think it's just about the experience for your little one. Since it was my daughter's bday, the waitress brought her an ice cream Sunday with a candle in it for dessert and sang "Happy Birthday" which made her feel very special. My husband was worried that he would be the only man in the place, but there were plenty of daddies and little boys. It was a very fun and special day for the whole family.

Not worth the excessive cost

By Anne292 |

Terrible service and less than average service. Spent two hours trying to get lunch. Waitress was incompetent. Food servers were rude. Over-rated and over priced

7th Birthday!

By Mallory D |

Absolutely loved our time at the AG store, salon and Bistro! Definitely made my daughters birthday special. I had made a reservation but didn't book the birthday package. She saw another girl get a bday hat which was part of that package. I spoke to the waitress who spoke to the manager and they helped me upgrade!

Great store for the girls, horrible food

By Jason |

My 2 girls ages 13 and 7 loved the shop. Really an amazing piece of memorabilia for doll lovers. The restaurant was well decorated and made for the girls. It was nice to bring their dolls to the table to sit with them. Unfortunately, the food is horrible for the price. One daughters bun was a brick, the meat practically burnt. My wife and I shared a pesto sandwich with a poor quality cut of chicken breast that wasn't trimmed well, and completely overcooked with no taste of pesto anywhere. Appetizers were acceptable. In all, save your money and take them somewhere nicer if it's a nice dinner. The food was so awful, that I couldn't ever see myself spending time or money going there again.

Fun for kids but food is ok

Its a great experience for kids but the food is pretty boring..

Perfect tea party for a girl's birthday!

By SoonerMom3 |

Took my daughter and the Grandmother's for a birthday tea at American Girl Bistro. We loved it! We made reservations, and the place wasn't very crowded. The service was great, the tea and food was really good. My daughter and her dolls had a wonderful time and they made her feel special. It was a special treat and worth it for all the fun that we had!

Always a Pleasant Visit

I love to visit this location once a year. Their food is always flavorful and their cakes are decadent! After visiting 8 other locations, this is my favorite location because it's so clean and inviting.

A perfectly magical day!

By KKWilliams83 |

This was my 7 year old daughters first trip to the store. We had reservation for her to have her dolls hair done and ears pierced. We also had reservations for lunch at the bistro. My daughter got to go on a small shopping spree in the store and was on cloud nine. Every employee, in store, in the salon, in the bistro, that we encountered were delightful. Each one made my daughter feel so special... which was important, as this was a big day for my small town baby girl! The service in the bistro was excellent. Food was delivered promptly and it was delicious. Not one complaint from anyone in my family (two of which are picky eaters!). And the dessert was a perfect grand finale. Cupcakes- One for my daughter and one for her doll. Complete with a piping bag full of icing and different decorations to decorate the cupcakes. Brilliant! All facilities (dressing rooms, restrooms) were spotless. I felt like the bistro items as well as the salon prices were quite reasonable. The retail store items are pricey, but we knew that ahead of time. It was worth every penny... And we spent lots, and lots, and LOTS of pennies ;)

My favorite!

By Yolanda |

My favorite place to bring my girls! We love to book the tea time package and it is very affordable ($13 a person) This is a really sweet experience for little girls! I’m not going to give a perfect score due to the service, our server was not as attentive to us and did not come to our table often..

The worst service I have received in a long time... redeemed by a great manager!

By 4FunKids |

First of all, I have dined here before and have had a much better experience, even when dining during the busy holiday season. I dined on a Friday morning and was the first to be seated in the restaurant. The bistro was not busy, and there were plenty of staff. Our waitress, must have been new so I tried hard to give her a lot of grace. :) Since we were driving through Dallas, and were hoping for a quick bite to eat with my girls, I advised our waitress ahead of time on which dessert we would be getting. During the meal, we had to wave her down to refill drinks, and sometimes find other staff to help us. The kids hot dogs came out with super crummy buns - that looked like they have been frozen way to long. When I asked the waitress she said they were still frozen (they weren't, they were just hard, crumbly and stale). She offered to get a replacement hot dog but said I would have to wait for new buns to thaw? I was able to get an extra mini burger for the girls instead. To even show the state of the hot dog buns I have to finally find another staff member because ours disappeared for a good 20min. As we were finishing our food, I called her over again and asked her to go ahead and bring the girls their dessert... a cookie, icing and sprinkles. 20minutes later, with no dessert, I found another staff member and asked if they could help us get our dessert. Finally, it shows up. The girls loved it. Not once, did we get an apology from our waitress, and I am pretty certain it's because she had no idea that the service was poor. I wasn't sure that I was going to complain, however, the manager came to our table to ask how the service was and I explained. Her name was Desiree, and she was very sweet & was about the customer. She gave the kids free shakes, and asked us to fill out a comment card. She is definitely the type of manager that a store wants to have, because she was all about customer service! I wanted to write this review honestly, and share the disappointing experience, which took 3minutes short of TWO FULL HOURS. I also wanted to share and give a shout out to Desiree for taking the time to ask how our service was, and to help fix it even though she was not the one giving poor service. Thanks!

Fun

By Sweedie415 |

I think this is a fun idea for the kids. My daughter loves to go to the American Girl stores and buy her doll a new dress, get her hair done, then get a bite to eat. Is fun because their doll gets to share the experience with them. I would suggest it for the experience not because your getting a gourmet meal.

Fun place for your daughter but food is just average.

By Michele B |

Food is expensive for what you get-typical childrens menu food like from Chili's.

Wow!!! I was suprised!!!!

By MPledger |

Their food is yummy!!!! Probably the best spinach artichoke dip I've ever eaten. My Greek salad was delicious but could use some black olives (hint to the chef). I even took a bite of my daughters chicken strips and those were good! They tasted fresh and not over cooked and hard plus you could tell the oil wasn't old. Only thing is that the service could be a bit faster. Even though my daughter loves American Girl I would so be for another lunch date with her there!!! Yummy!!!! 😋😋😋

AG never fails us!

Great trip! We haven’t been to this location in 9 years, since our teen was our youngest’s age. The new store is incredible! Our daughter was overjoyed with all the dolls and the abundance of pic opportunities (we have a little model lol)

HOURS LISTED HERE ARE WRONG!!

By Kathleen C |

Please check the hours before going to the bistro. We went for my daughter's birthday and were disappointed. We found out trip advisor has the wrong hours listed they close at 5! 😢😢😢 she was so sad. Heads up, you are supposed to make a reservation as well.

Great adventure!

By cwjj |

My 11 year old researched this shop as soon as she found out we would be vacationing near Dallas. She planned to bring her dolls plus purchase 1 more as well as eat in the bistro. To see her excitement was worth it all. Her dolls were able to sit with her at the table, they were each given a cup & saucer to take home. She decorated a cupcake for her dolls and herself and we all enjoyed tasty root beer floats. We did not eat at the bistro as we had other plans but did see they offered a fantastic menu of choices. The 2-story store featured the same amenities as other stores; lots of clothing, displays, and doll spa which she did have her doll's hair styled and ears pierced. A fantastic place for my daughter to visit!!
