Best in the Valley

By Eric G |

Only the best comments for this very authentic and most consistent Indian Cuisine. We have been consistently dining here for 15 + years and have come to know the owners and all the staff. We have never been even slightly disappointed in the quality and quantity of food, and the very friendly owners and staff are there to make everything simply perfect.

Competently made Punjabi fare. One of the better Indian places I have tried in LA.

By Stephen P |

We came for dinner. The interior of the place has a bit of ambience conducive to conversation which makes it a good place to dine instead of simply eat dinner. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu, as is often the case, is extensive which can make choosing a bit of a task. In general the food did not suffer the downside of many Punjabi places which tend to overuse both ghee and chili, which act as flavour suppressants. If anything, I think the preparation was on the bland side and I found myself salting the food quite a bit. I had paneer tikka which was nicely roasted in the tandoor. The vegetables that came with it didn't taste much grilled and I suspect mostly cooked on the cast iron serving skillet. It would be better to actually roast them and to include more green or red bell pepper. We also had mushroom saag which had been made with fresh spinach and was nicely done. I ordered a garlic and basil naan which was huge and somewhat chewy (could have been a bit more so). The minced basil appeared to have been sprinkled over the dough so that it dried out in the tandoor. Better to put it more inside the dough. The chai that accompanied my meal didn't have much masala in it; it was more just milky tea. The dinner was good, the bill came to about $30 per person. I would probably try this one again.

Good service, average food

We had dinner at Anarbagh with another couple. The restaurant setup and the food was very average. Nothing special at all. Service was very good.

Dinner

This place is fantastic , great flavors and a large variety of choices. I had the chicken vindaloo and my husband had the chicken korma. The samosas were very good as we'll. When in Beverly Hills, make sure to stop by and grab a bite to eat- we highly recommend this place!!!!

The best meal I got in L.A.

By MrsSchmidtDK |

I had been looking forward to spoiling myself after a weeks hard work in Woodland hills. I was recomended this of local indian people, since I directly asked for a goooood indian cuisine. I got super service. I was all alone, blond danish woman far away from home, the server understood that I would love to taste several dishes but had no chance in h.. eating all that food. And without a fridge at the Hilton, I could not take it "home" to my hotel in a doggybag. I did get small portions though, så I got a chicken dish (can remember wich one, but it was of course a curry) and then I had my favorite indian dish Aloo gobi (potatoes and cauliflower) and the waiter insisted of me having some rice. The crown on my meal was the aloo paratha, my favorite indian bread. Made from wholegrain dough stuffed (and rolled flat) with potatoes and spices, in this restaurant also some gren chilies. Lovely meal, hot and spicy, but under consideration to my scandinavian viking taste buds. Loved this place. Will be back next time Im coming to LA for business. Sorry I forgot to take some fotos, but the food was so good I actually think I sad all alone humming ;)

Excellent value

By Susanne W |

This restaurant delivers consistently above average Indian food, with good service and real tablecloths. No buffet style at this place (I am not a fan of buffets). This restaurant is a tried and true favorite. I've always come at lunchtime. Their lunch specials are great and their chicken tikka, lamb biryani and curries are delicious!

Awesome FOOD

By Stephanie C |

I was in LA for the weekend and it was cold and raining outside so decided to find an Indian restaurant near my place. I ventured to Anarbagh and happened to be the only one in the restaurant! I ordered the vegetable samosas which had 2 per order. They were flavorful by themselves and also with the mint and chutney put out on the table beforehand. My main course was the shrimp korma and cheese naan. The korma was one of the best I have eaten anywhere and the rice with the saffron was excellent as well. My whole entire meal was fantastic and well prepared. The service was spot on and everyone was friendly. The waiter even complimentary gave me some baklava for dessert! Very nice gesture. If ever in the Beverly Hills area stop in for some great tasting Indian food and enjoy the atmosphere.

Great Quality Indian Food at Anarbagh

By 1MAD |

We've been going to Anarbagh for years now. Great food, service, and quality. They recently remodeled the restaurant. Just really nice people, and much better Indian food than the other places around the west valley.

Consistently a good dining experience

By Jim4456 |

My family and I have been frequent customers for over 20 years. The consistency of the food quality is what brings us back. With the remodel about two years ago the ambiance has taken a big jump up the ladder. The service however could be improved since we find dinner runs longer than anticipated on many occasions. That short coming aside the food quality at Anarbagh is on par with my favorite London restaurants and continues to be worthy of our loyalty.

Great food, service and ambience

By packedandready2go |

Like many L.A. restaurants Anarbagh does not look like much from the outside but do not make the mistake of passing it by. The ambience is very nice inside and the acoustics even better so it is easy to have a conversation while you eat. The service is very efficient. The food is excellent. I hope to come back the next time I am in the area. Highly recommended.

Best Indian Restaurant Ever!!!!

By Gamer1989 |

My friend and I have been looking for a good Indian Restaurant for a couple months and have finally found one. We were recommended to go to Anarbagh almost 2 months ago and decided to try it out. This restaurant by far beats the rest. Great food, great service and great people overall. There Tandoori and Tikka is to die for. My friend and I both have started to take our families now and they also love it. we go 2-3 times a week. Unlike most of the other Indian restaurant they actually talk to you like a person and there Owner is almost always there to talk with...OVERALL GRADE 10 OUT OF 10....5 STARS....

Loved it!

By Red10060 |

The chef used to live in the UK and that explains why the food is so good. Ordered the chicken tikka, shrimp curry, dahl, malai kofta, nan and more and loved everything. The waiters were very friendly and the restaurant is nice and clean. Will be back!

Spicy or not, their Indian cuisine is satisfying

By Lestertheinvestor |

The samosa (potato) are wonderful. The matar paneer (fresh peas and cheese cooked with onion, tomatoes, and herbs) is wonderfully flavorful, although sometimes a little thin. The Sag paneer (spinach with cheese) is mild, but very flavorful. My wife always gets the chicken tikka (boneless chicken roasted in a clay oven with curry, marinated in mild spices and herbs) -- and loves it every time. Basmati rice is cooked to be fluffy. Naan (garlic or peswari) is wonderful. A sip of Lassi (yogurt and rose water blend) will quench your thirst and refresh your palate while consuming spicy foods. They will make your dishes mild, moderate or very spicy! Delivery is prompt -- but pick-up can be slow if they are busy.

Average food and service

By paulhuntterry |

I ate an evening meal at Anarbagh with my wife and her sister, and found both food and service to be average. I ordered a chicken curry dish and received one containing lots of chick peas and no chicken. Service was average, the staff were reasonably friendly but distracted while we were ordering our food and drinks. The server even walked off once half way through taking a drinks order. As a British visitor I found both the food and service to be nowhere near the standard I am used to at Indian restaurants in the UK. The Anarbagh also compared poorly to the many other restaurants we ate at in LA, San Diego and Santa Barbara on the same trip.

Wonderful Treat

By Sunnys_Day |

Encino works out to be a great 'meet in the middle' spot for a group of friends and someone suggested Anarbagh Indian restaurant. We order a half dozen entrees and shared them all and what a treat! The food was fabulous - I especially liked the Tandoori Shrimp - and the service was stellar. They have a good selection of beers that complement Indian food and the place was busy from the time we got there at 7 and was still crowded at 9.30 when we left. Would definitely go there again.

Went in for the lunch special. Not an 'all you can eat' buffet, but nevertheless a good sized portion. Still under $10.00 including drink. The curry, and tandoori chicken were very good.

look no further

By Andrew T |

if you like me are holidaying in LA and want a curry look no further than this place. We found the service to be good, but the food was excellent. We turned up on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was almost full, we ordered onion bhaji and chicken pakora starters which were very nice, the main course we had 2 chicken dishes, jalfrezi and butter chicken and aloo Gobi rice and plain nan bread, really, really nice. We were that impressed we returned 2 days later, they had 1 table free on a Tuesday night, you know you are in the right place when this happens. We had another chicken dish coconut, but this time i went with Lamb which just melted in your mouth i had Rogon Josh, also Aloo Gobi again and rice and 2 Roti which were massive, Excellent food again i just wish the chef worked in my local Indian.

Always outstanding!

By Howard S |

Anarbagh is always, always outstanding. I have been there too numerous to count. And every time, I say the same thing-this is the best Indian restaurant anywhere! The single biggest problem I have at Anarbagh is I love almost all of the dishes we order almost all the time, such that I rarely, if ever, try something new. This is a good problem to have! We ALWAYS get the chicken Tikka AND the chicken tikka masala. When we dine with the kids, we get 2 orders of the chicken tikka masala since one is never enough plus you can always use the leftover sauce (if there even is any) on every other thing you order, and of course, especially the rice dishes. The vegetables and the breads are also outstanding and we usually over order (planning to take home leftovers) and rarely have anything left on any of the plates. This IS the place to go if you are craving Indian food, or if you have never tried Indian food. Once you go there, you will surely be going back.

Excellent Food Great Service

By Maocr27 |

There were 8 in our party and every single one of us enjoyed the entire meal. Appetizers were delicious as were the entrees. We ordered a variety of dishes and all exceeded expectations. Service was great and the meal was very reasonably priced.

Excellent Indian Food in the San Fernando Valley

By csimmamps |

Excellent food, great service and a nice ambience. One of the few Indian restaurants which will make my lamb vindaloo hot enough. all your favorite Indian dishes well executed. well worth the visit.

Delicious meal

A friend and I dined here and had the Dinner for Two. It was a feast! We stuffed ourselves and still had leftovers to take away.Service was excellent as well.

Average Indian Cuisine

By winsomelosesum |

We got take out.......our dishes were nothing to write home about. Whether it was the chef trying to tone down the heat for American palates or some other reason, the dishes were not spicy compared to other Indian food I've had or made at home.

good food

By cathey |

Anytime I get that Indian food craving, I think of this place! We ordered some food to go...basic naan, shrimp Tandoori, , Shahiponir & chana masala. All delish and tasty food! Took only 25min for them to have it ready. Not too bad for freshly cooked Indian food. All that food was way more than enough for 2. Its still good the next day too. My husband and I ate there once before a few months ago and like the others said you order first, go and sit down at your table and then when you're done, go back up to pay. (Wonder how they keep track of who has already paid and who didn't? Especially if its crowded) What also throws you off is that it closes from about 3 - 5:00 but they are open 7 days a week from noon to 11:00pm. So if you are hungry in between 3-5:00 you may want to go someplace else. (strange times to close down) I have had the garlic naan and they are no way skimpy on the garlic - WOW its potent. But I gotta say this place has the best Indian food!

Excellent Indian food, reasonable priced

By sweetsuzey |

I was visiting California from out-of-state and took my trip as an opportunity to find some ethnic restaurants. So glad I found Anarbagh. My lunch, the chicken tikka masala, was absolutely delicious, under $7, service was really good, restaurant was quiet and pleasant. Haven't found an Indian restaurant anywhere that I've enjoyed as much as Anarbagh. Too bad for me, I don't live closer. Highly recommend.

I'm a regular here for lunch and I Love it

By bccrab |

The guys who run Anarbagh really know how to treat regular customers. I always enjoy talking to them when I'm in for lunch. My son and I go several times a month and the quality of the food rivals any Indian restaurant I've been to in London or New York. Nothing fancy here, just the standard Indian choices. I've had the Rhogan Josh, Chicken Tika Massala , Balti Chicken and Biryani dishes and all are very good. The waiter always asks what level of spice you like so you're never surprised by a dish that isn't what you expected. Mango Lahsi and Indian beer to wash down a great meal- works for me every time. Really nice touch is the discount they offer frequent diners without even having to ask. They always knock 15 % off my bill. I see other Indian places in the valley but keep returning to Anarbarh because it's so darn good.

Pleasantly surprised with overall quality

By Paul K |

The onion kulcha, onion bhaje, condiments, sag paneer were each very good. Decent samosas. Nice atmosphere.perky business on a Saturday eve requiring only a short wait. Gravies and sauces were all flavorful and delicious. Meats were nothing special. Service was attentive.

Mehhhhhhh

By Colton C |

First time I ordered carry out here, spent almost $50 and asking for a set of plastic utensil but i was told by the waiter i had to pay extra for that . Do not open a restaurant if you're very CHEAP to your customers. First impression was not good so i definitely won't come back.

This place is awsome!

This place is awsome!

pretty good

By lschg |

Overall this is a solid dinner choice. All our dishes were good and flavorful enough - we were not disappointed that we drove across the valley to give Anarbagh a go. The service was incredibly fast - kind of astonishing really. By the end we did feel a bit rushed, but better too fast than slow! Probably will not return however.

An Explosion of Flavours

By bbilmer |

We had a very enjoyable evening here, sampling a variety of dishes that my friends had recommended from previous visits, e.g. chicken tikka masala, naan bread, basmati rice. We ordered a couple of new dishes, e.g. cauliflower bhagi. The atmosphere transported one away from sunshine and brightness of Los Angeles to another world, shaded and cool, so your environment changed the moment you walked in and sat down. The service was top notch with a whole cadre of attentive waiters ready to cater to your every need. Everything we ate was delicious, superbly flavored, not overbearing or heavy, which we all enjoyed with an unusually delicious spiced ice tea.

Authentic Indian

By Dicheeky |

The first thing you notice is that half the clientele are Indian. The second thing is that the food is great, authentic - so was the opinion of our Indian Colleagues. It is a straight forward Tandoori/Curry House. Focus is on the food not being a trendy "lounge" style eatery where ambience scores over the food. Go and you will not be disappointed.

Wow! Our New GO TO for Indian food!!

By Adina R |

A friend wanted to try a different place for Indian than our usual spot, and now Anarbagh is going to be our new usual spot. Everything was flavorful and tasted better than anything I have had in a while. I had the Lamb with Mushrooms which I will order again in a heartbeat, the Saag Paneer was outstanding, and so was the Chicken Masala. I would also recommend the Mushroom Biryani. I think the key is the food has the right combination of spices and nothing is overly done so that you can taste all of the ingredients. Can't wait to go back.

Sizzling hot spicy food as good as it could be !!

By Anuj Srivastava |

Recently visited Anarbagh restaurant with colleagues, and must say the food was amazingly good, and spicy to the core. Portion size was good and we tried paneer tikka and chicken tikka along with red wine, and it really worked well. All my colleagues were impressed. Will be visiting this place again, when I am in Westlake.

Great Indian Food with Great Service too!

By acwfoster |

We have been looking for a good Indian Restaurant for a long time - and we found one only 30 minutes away from our home in Ventura County, CA. The service was great - we were seated right away, although we did arrive fairly early for a Saturday evening (6 p.m.) I'm not sure if they take reservations or not, but if they do, I would recommend them. By 7 p.m. there were probably 5 parties waiting for a table! I thought the $36 dinner combo for 2 was quite a lot of food for the price: appetizers for 2, coffee/tea for 2, 2 meat dishes, one vegetable, naan bread, rice, and dessert for 2. The samosas were delicious and we love the Chicken Tikka masala. We ordered everything mild and it definitely was mild. Next time we'll try the 'medium' for a little more kick. They had some great Indian Pale Ales that tasted great with the curry. We were asked many times by multiple servers if everything was OK, and our water & tea were refilled over and over again. We had enough food leftover to take home for my husband's lunch the next day! They even gave us a 15% coupon to use on our next visit. We will go there again and again...... the food was delicious, the service was great, and the prices were reasonable considering how expensive some Indian places can be.

Best Indian Food in SF Valley!

By wigd0wt |

Absolutely perfectly spiced, delicious traditional Indian dishes! When you sit down they serve crisps with green sauce (like chips and salsa!) Really tasty! The Nan is exceptional. The service is friendly. Our favorites are Chicken Tika Masalla and Lamb Korma, however they are happy to do everything vegetarian! We've been enjoying this restaurant and also delivery at home for many years!

Don't go here!

By nachore |

Being an Indian & avid lover of Indian food, this restaurant is way below my expectations. The naans were burnt, the chicken tikka masala wasn't that good, the aloo gobi sucked and the chicken biryani was better than all of these dishes (my mom makes 5x killer chicken biryani than this restaurant). Overall, the food was very mild even though we told them to make it hot! You just might like this restaurant if you are not Indian or don't eat Indian food a lot!

Great food.

By George S |

The food is amazing. The staff is outstanding. We ordered a sample plate, garlic naan. For my main course I orders vegetarian eggplant medium heat. My wife got the lamb. For drinks we had the spiced tea. All was out of this world. Each plate was a world of flavor to explore. The lamb was tender with sauce made in heaven. My eggplant dish rocked. One could become a vegetarian just on the eggplant dish alone. If you are not familiar with this style of cuisine start here. The staff will walk you through their amazing menu. The prices are fantastic. The portions are excellent. Order 2 or 3 items off the menu. Parking is great. Finding the restraunt is easy. If at all possible eat in and be treated great by the staff. I will return.

Traveling to the Far East without leaving the Valley

By Jshare |

This is a local favorite restaurant because it has such delicious Indian food and the service is always excellent. It is located in a mini-mall near a CVS, right on the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Louise. Friendly with a beautiful decor. This is such a pleasure to dine at.

Best damn Indian Food this side of Bombay.

By Eric G |

I have been dining here for many years and just returned from an excellent dinner that forced me to give this place another "Excellent" rating. Everything, from beginning to end was so tasty and satisfying, that I over-ate and loved every minute of it. All of the food servers were gracious and accommodating. The appetizers and deserts were all excellent and the main entrees were better than ever. Chicken Tikka, and Chicken Masala, along with Eggplant Barta were terrific. The Garlic Nan bread was far better than anything tasted at other Indian restaurants. Matab, the owner, and his brothers, cousins and others are the best - particularly the Chef..... I'll always return for the best and most consistent meals. Eric S. Gordon

Spicy and tasty

By DeborahandAndy |

We recently had an enjoyable dinner at Anarbagh on Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills- very tasty curries - tried two: lamb and the shrimp- with medium "hotness;" lovely naan and basmati rice. Delicious mango ice cream. They don't serve beer as yet- to bring your own. Great servce.

Still the best Indian food in Los Angeles

By csimmamps |

We've been coming here for years the food is consistently good and well-prepared and the service is impeccable and friendly. it is by far the best Indian restaurant in Los Angeles

Such good Indian...we ate there 2x last week!

By Amy0328 |

We like Indian. But usually we'll eat that kind of food about 1x every 6 months. The flavors that we had at Anarbagh were so great a week ago, my boyfriend wanted to go back just 6 days later! Fresh food. Nicely presented. Good service. Reasonable prices. Nice ambience. Don't know what else you could want!

Excellent, relaxed, quality.

By pauldD2575JM |

We have been to Anarbagh many times over the years. We always enjoy it and leave in a good mood. Perhaps because the food is authentic and the cooking hand-on, the same dish will vary some from time to time, but it is almost always excellent. We've had the Tandoori chicken, various lamb curries, house specials, and occasionally a vegetarian dish. First rate and they have kept the prices low. Anarbagh now has several different locations in the LA area. I would expect all of them to be quite similar because the family behind them seems to have its act together in knowing what they want to present and how they want to provide good service.

Wonderful Indian Food

By Kitty |

Extensive menu, helpful staff and delicious food. Easy walk from Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Express on Ventura. Worth the effort even if you are not staying close by.

Still number one

By csimmamps |

This is really our go-to place. Indian food is so flavorful and the spices are so unique which is why we keep coming back because they do it really well here

Affordable Indian Food in Beverly Hills

By unabashedly |

Anarbagh Indian Cuisine has some of the best Indian food in Los Angeles. Favorite items include their delicious chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and papadom. Kind and hospitable staff who entertained our table of 7. We especially loved Hussain's great sense of humor and attentiveness. This is a great restaurant to bring a group of friends for Indian food. One of the few affordable places to eat in Beverly Hills!

Excellent as always!

By Jamie G |

Been coming here for 20 years. The best Indian food in the valley, hands down. Food is excellent quality , tasty and fresh. Friendly staff and good service. If you haven’t gone yet, just go! You will be happy you did

Lacks Authentic Indian Food Taste

By Shahid K |

Coming recently from Pakistan, I wanted to try the Indian food. The taste is not what you find in the local countries, at much exorbitant prices. We tried the rice palak rice dish, the chicken curry and the chicken BBQ much to the servers recommendation. None of the dishes edible enough to remind of the food taste at home. I would not go there again, rather go to Tawakal Tandoori restaurant in the San Fernando Valley for genuine, tasty local food.

Top of the heap authentic Indian!

By siropderable |

Stopped in for dinner on a recent business trip. Quick walk down the street from my room at the Holiday Inn. Ordered the Mulligatawny soup to start. Went well with the crunchy papadums. Then had the Vindaloo chicken. Ordered it hot and it did not disappoint. I like spicy and this was perfect. The ginormous fresh naan bread helped me sop up all the remaining sauce. Also included basmati rice. Great deal, very fresh ingredients and stellar service. Would go back in a blink.

Good food in a nice atmosphere

By Wardnick1 |

Four of us had fish masala, sag paneer, lamb korma and eggplant. The food ranged from good to very good . The naan was better than most. The interior was dark colors with simple decoration. There were many patrons. Service was good. I would go back.

The best Indian cuisine in LA...

By Abdullah AlMudhaf |

This restaurant is my favorite Indian restaurant in LA. The food is so delicious and the service is 5-star, and the price is so reasonable.. You must try the chicken tandoor beryani and the "black dhal"..

Perfectly flavored

By Creeping_Death_LA |

I'm a big fan of Indian food especially when its cooked right with the perfect spiciness and flavor. Chicken Tikka Masala is my favorite dish and the one we ordered here was perfect. The service was great and the waiter was very attentive. There's free parking in the rear of the restaurant through the alley.

The best Indian food in the West Valley

By Artsy12 |

The service and the food are always excellent and the price is a bit lower than similar restaurants that may not be quite as consistently good.

Delicious!

By EmBentley |

Both the food and service here are excellent. It's also very affordable for a restaurant in Beverly Hills. Would highly recommend!

Awesome Indian food, slightly high in price but worth paying

By Ankur Jagetiya |

Great Indian food, very nice ambiance, nice collection of India Beer. If you love Indian food, this is the place to go for it. Try Chicken Tikka Masala.. that is best..

I won't be back.

By glb310 |

I went with two co-workers for lunch today at Anarbagh (22721 Ventura Blvd, 91364) and we voted never to return. The food was just okay and meter parking was plentiful but the terrible service drove us crazy. The employees are quick to sit you down but then immediately forget about you while they talk, play, and perform routine tasks. I had to ask three times to have my water glass filled which is a big pet peeve of mine and is the final straw when deciding whether or not a restaurant is worth the ground on which it sits. When you are on company time this place is not “the place” to be as your hour lunch will suddenly become dangerously close to two hours. With the food being on the low to middle end of the scale and the service in the negative, I won’t be back. For a far better dining experience, I recommend “Shalimar Cuisine of India” which is right down the street at 23011 Ventura Blvd, 91364.

Amazing Chicken Tikka Masala

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

I love Indian food and this is a solid choice in the LA area. All the curries were of good quality and service was professional in an elegant atmosphere. Chicken Tikka Masala at it's best.

Excellent food

By Jan M |

We ordered 4 dishes for a group of 4 people on the recommendation of the waiter. All dishes were very good. We had traveled from Sydney, Australia. Quality, portions and prices all good.

Pathetic food and service

By mabk |

We had been to Anarbagh restaurant for dinner. I found food quality was not upto the mark. the bhindi was not even completely boiled and dal was no where near the mark. The service was slow. Even when there were not many customers, it took good 30 mins to get items. We had to ask for the items listed in standard dinner menu instead of they were offered automatically. It was embarrasing. They missed out the desert/coffee/tea at the end. By and large it was a bad experience.

Best Indian food in Los

Woodland Hills Yum!

WOW!

By kisssmee |

Probably my new favorite Indian restaurant. I don't think I've had Indian fine dining and wow! I am amazed by this place. I always get Chicken Tikka Masala because it's a staple in Indian cuisine and it was so delicious here. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get naan, but after tasting the masala I had to see how good it was and it was delicious as well. Service is great and I will definitely be back.

Delicous Indian food in elegant atmosphere

By Lois C |

I liked the quiet intimate atmosphere , authentic decor, and elegant table settings. The menu was expansive, with seasonings to suit all tastes, and the food well prepared. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. I had lunch there, finding prices to be reasonable, not expensive. It is a setting that is conducive to "lingering" and visiting.

Excellent lamb and fish entrees. Try Kadhai Ghos, Vindaloo(Goan style), Lamb Bhuna. Fish entrees are Bangladeshi style. Ask for 10% discount, you may get it.:)

Delicious!

By Miranda |

Amazing Indian food! Very delicious. The food was very flavorful and the people are very nice there.

Food was just 'ok' not 'Wow'

By Kareena417 |

We visited this restaurant with our friends. We ordered chicken biryani which was just ok ,you will never know how biryani tastes like. Moreover we were surprised they dont serve raita along with chicken biryani, you have to order raita separetely which is kinda weird. The only thing I liked was saag paneer. Service was fine. I would not recommend this place if you are a big fan of chicken biryani.

Indian Food In LA, Disappointed !

By AjayJaiSingh |

While I do not expect the Indian food (outside) India to be exceptional, but it was not really great here. The service was a bit slow and we waited almost for 30 minutes for our order.. The chicken was a bit hard and so was the mutton kababs.. The interior and ambience was good.. How ever for the food, i will definitely try some other Indian restaurant..!!

Weird Jealousy

By GanAinm |

My wife an I used to frequent Anarbagh regularly and truly enjoyed our little, almost weekly, trips to India. We have recommended Anarbagh to dozens of families and they all became regulars. I am compelled to write this review because of the way my wife and I have been treated. Since the birth of our child we haven't eaten out as much as we used to. Because it is hard to eat out with a baby and we wanted to try cooking at home to help save some money and create a nice home life for our child. On my wifes birthday we visited Anarbagh for a special night out, we even brought our baby with us. The very first thing that was said to us was "we don't see you anymore" so we explained, pointing out our lovely new child. We expected a giggle and that would be that but the answer apparently wasn't the right one. He repeated the question and so did all the people that waited on us. We felt uneasy and after the meal left with a foul taste in our mouths. We have visited again on occassion with friends and have received very cold and uncomfortable confrontations. We have gathered that one of the employees saw us at another Indian restaurant and apparently this is a punishable offence. They confronted us blatently with venom and made our company feel uncomfortable also. We are very hurt by this behavior and think that the United States is no place for this jealous behavior. We will never eat there again. The food is fine. It is nothing special or fancy and is bland tasting. If you want real Indian food in Woodland Hills go to India Sweets & Spices or for excellent Sri Lankan food go to The Curry Bowl. I have nothing to do with these restaurants other than I like their food.

The food here is great. This is one of only two Indian restaurants that I recommend visiting in Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village. The food here is great and authentic. I have never had a bad meal here and I go roughly once per month for Dinner. My go-to meal is a Lamb Vindaloo (spicy) with special rice, Saag Aloo and two Garlic Nann's. The Naan's served here are the best I have ever tasted, no-one even comes close. Whether you are ordering to sit-in or to take away, you will not be disappointed.

Consistently Satisfying

We have been going to Anarbagh in Woodland Hills for years. My favorites, the sag paneer, tandoori chicken and chicken masala (hot) is always a delicious. What keeps us coming back besides the quality of the food is the wonderful service. The staff is always warm and inviting. Where else can you go where you are greeted with a smile and a handshake? A big plus - the restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are spotless My only criticism is that unlike Persian or Chinese restaurants where rice comes with the entrees, you have to order the rice separately and the servings are a bit small. If you're in the mood for Indian food, Anarbagh is a terrific place in the Valley.

Friday night dinner

Found a parking space in the back. Enter and straight to an available table. Warm, a bit busy and quick service and attention.

Excellent Food

We go here quite often when my wife gets homesick for authentic Indian food. Prices are good and the portions are good.

Nice Atmosphere Good Food and Service

By Love vacation time |

Service and atmosphere were very good....food good. The Chicken Masala was not as good as Jaipur on the West side of Los Angeles. The Garbanzo Bean and the Eggplant were enjoyed by my wife and another lady. We had a combination plate as an appetizer that was fairly good. Nan as an accompaniment. All in all a pleasant experience. No alcoholic beverages and price was around $45.00 per couple including tip. Good value.

Amazing Food with Flavors from Afar

This is one of my absolute, totally favorite all time restaurants for Indian cuisine. They get it here at Anarbagh which is why my wife and I have been coming here for years. It begins with a beautiful atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The decor is traditional Indian and Bangladeshi and the music that fills the dining room is also authentic. Their staff is impeccable in courtesy and will greet you with a smile and soft welcome reminiscent of truly far eastern Indian culture. Look around and pick a spot that's right for you. Our favorite table is to the left of the front door centered in a semi-circle booth that opens up to the rest of the dining room wing and even gives us a view of the outside through beautiful sheer curtains. Enjoy a glass of wine and order an appetizer to savor the moment. You're never rushed at Anarbagh or made to feel like you have to get in and get out. On most visits, our dinner is a relaxed two-hour affair from start to finish. You can eat anywhere but when you dine, this is why you come to a special spot. Once they get to know you, you'll become family and they'll even anticipate your favorite dishes and drinks but never presume. Their tandoori is consistently good and the chicken arrives juicy and topped with sauteed onions on a sizzling platter from which portions are selected and served individually table-side. Their korma dishes are all excellent with an outstanding balance in spices and flavors and a saucy consistency that enhances the dish but doesn't drown it out. Be sure to try their Naan selection, breads that are sure to please your palette. Also, their spice tea which can be enjoyed hot or cold is one of my favorite items and clears the taste buds between flavors. Their biryani menu is ample and you could feast on that alone. On some visits, I drizzle some of the korma sauce onto the rice and scoop tasty bites with my Naan without ever feeling like I must have one of the meats to complete my meal. Pace yourself. This cuisine is about enjoyment of flavors and quality, not quantity is what will make the visit memorable. That said, their portions are generous and always served just the way you request or re-done if not right. And if you're lucky, your food with be carted out by one of their top presenters ala the finest tradition of Russian Service with each dish revealed at your table and placed over individual antique brass candle burners to keep everything hot. The art of presentation is something that adds tremendously to the anticipation of the meal you are about to enjoy. Do enjoy their desserts. They're all prepared daily in their kitchen by their Master Chef and the tastes tell you so from their traditional rice pudding to their ice creams and kulfi. Ah yes, this is one place you'll return to often and when you do, say hi to Mettab, the proprietor and tell him his restaurant is thought of fondly.

So Disappointing

We had read such good reviews about the Indian food here and were so disappointed with our meal. Our onion bhajis were so dry and overcooked, the onion kulcha was tasteless, my chicken korma was ok, edible, compared to the kulcha and bhajis, my husband had lamb rogan josh which he was quite happy with but not as good as he has had at other restaurants. We did send an email to the restaurant telling them about our experience but did not receive any response, if we had I probably wouldn’t have written this review. I hate to give poor reviews, especially right now, but this was not a good experience for us and we will not be ordering from here again.

Anarbagh Sizzles!

By bud9845 |

None of our group had much experience with indian food but, with our waiter's help, filled our table with sizzling hot cast iron platters of all kinds of delicious food. Lamb, beef, chicken, fish were quite good, and not overdone with curry. Service was good, although I felt our waiter pushed a little hard to get us to order additional plates. So much food we could have shared and not eaten it all. Large restaurant without much charm or ambiance. Try it. Hot tip: Corkage is only $6.95 (!!)

Some of the best Indian food I've had in Los Angeles, or anywhere else in the US.

Great place, fantastically wonderful brothers who run the mini-chain (they have two locations now, one in West Hills and the other in Sherman Oaks), who give fanatically fantastic service, with a most gracious hospitality. When I lived close, I went on average 2-3 times a month. Now that I live too far away, I wish they would open a Southbay location. I've had a few other places in Southbay in my tummy, and they all suck. Yes, they are real Indians, but the food is horrible, greasy, and overcooked to death. Anarbagh's food is made from the freshest ingredients, on the spot, with no loss of flavor. Yes, many of their dishes taste doubly delicious the next day coming from the leftover containers, but everything is home-style, not overly processed, the meat to sauce ratio is correct (you don't get a pint of grease soup with every order), and the Paneer is home-made, as is everything else they make. Dishes of amazing flavor to note: Mixed Naan - everything good like garlic, and fresh herbs cover the fluffiest (not oiled to death) large pieces of fresh Naan. Fish Mahkani - tasty whitefish in the best Makhani sauce you've ever had. Worth keeping an extra piece or two of Naan for dipping on day 2 or 3. Sag Paneer - larger than normal cut slices of actually green (not brown/dead) spinach in as strong a curry sauce as you would like. Large fresh chunks of Paneer cheese throughout, hot enough to melt, but put in right at the end so it's not.

Nothing special

We chose this restaurant due to the area we were in, and had higher expectations. When we arrived, it wasn't very busy at all. The food was okay, nothing special. The staff were nice though, welcoming and friendly.

Good Place for indian food

You should try the fish fry in this place. It was very yummy. We ordered some rice items, and some non-veg dishes. Everything was excellent especially the fish fry.

Fantastic food - super friendly staff

Our family of 5 had a wonderful dinner at Anarbagh Indian restaurant. The waiter was instantly accommodating when we mentioned we were cold from the air conditioning, and turned it off. The food was delivered swiftly and was fresh & hot and tasted delicious. The restaurant was comfortable and nicely decorated. The service was excellent. I will be back.

Excellent Take Out

Contactless ordering and curb side delivery. Food was excellent with each dish having a distinctive taste. Perfectly prepared to our medium spicy preference. Food was well packaged for take-out. We ordered from the Encino location.

Delicious experience

Service at Anarbagh was friendly, prompt and enjoyable. The food was delicious, full of flavor and at perfect temperature and spice levels. Parking was available immediately outside the restaurant and at 7:30 on a Friday, we did not have to wait for a table of 3. However, I can tell that this restaurant probably gets busy so you may want to keep in mind a quick reservation or call ahead.
