Jazz was good. It is hard for me to make a great evaluation because I prefer blues over jazz. The bar was friendly and we sat right at the bar vs a dinner table. $15 cover charge though to get in.

Great place for Jazz. I recommend making dinner reservations if you hope to have a table; this is especially important for acts with big followings. Order prior to the show for little to no interruptions. The food is good. There aren't many healthy vegetarian options. The music is amplified, which isn't really needed given the size of the venue. My suggestions, get a table far from the stage cause it is loud to the point it wasn't pleasant. The music was good but we left after an hour.

I often visit Andy's when in Chiicago and it reamins a must do ! great music and a really friendly welcome for only $15 on the door. Well worth it.

We attended a Wednesday evening show and watched Mike Smith's Quartet play an UNREAL set. We were blown away. Definitely worth staying two sets if you can. The food was pretty good, not the best but our server was always attentive and made us comfortable.

I have eaten at Andy's both times I have been to Chicago. I love it! The food is superb. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The music and atmosphere is just outstanding! Multiple music acts playing each night, and they all have their own style and personalities but engage the crowd in a way I have never experienced in another restaurant. The restaurant itself isn't very big, so be sure to make a reservation! I love this place and can't wait to go back to Chicago just to visit Andy's!

I'm very happy we spent one night in this jazz club. The food was delicious, the ambient nice and romantic, the music fabulous. The only thing I didn't like at all were some other customers: they CHATTED LOUD ALL THE TIME, and ruined a bit our night. Why do you come to a jazz club, if you talk all the time over the music and don't appreciate the musicians?!?!? Stay at home!!

Simply stated...good food, good drinks, reasonable prices and great music. A tip, try to catch the second seating for each group.

And it has not changed since September, 199 or not that much! It's quite cheap to get into, and the jazz is very impressive. The food itself is nothing too special, but you get decent service, fun music and it's in a nice dusky little place. I still like this place all these years later.

We didn’t like the experience. The music was too loud. We couldn’t talk. The manager was shushing the clients. The food wasn’t good. It’s not worth the price you pay.

Looking for something different for dinner we made reservations at Andys. We misread the website and thought cover charge would be waived with dinner..it's not. We spent about 2 minutes discussing this with doorman so when we stepped in 2 feet to the hostess & have her our names she said "well, you ARE 1 minute late for your reservation." That didn't sit too well with us but the food was wonderful, the service was spot on, and the musicians were great. I also had a blueberry gin drink that was awesome.

I often return here on business trips to Chicago. Great Jazz and a clientele who know it ! Good range of beers and normally 2 bands a night with a couple of sets each. Arriving 19:00 means you normally get set two from band one and can stay (after an hour break) for set one of the second band. A small entry fee ... but very worth it.

We arrived at 8:15 the first was about to end. The second set did begin until 9:30. Next time I will schedule my visit so that I can catch a whole set. The food was good. The wait staff could be a little more attentive. Each I drained my glass of water I had to flag down a waitperson to get more.

Ok, not expecting a lot other than good music, but we were shocked when it was the favorite meal of our trip. Salmon prepared perfectly, best salad I've had in ages, and a burger that disappeared in about 5 minutes. Great service as well. Only downside was cover charge on top of dinner price. $10. a piece with a 2 hour limit.

Nice space to enjoy good music (though not all spots provide good views of the stage) while having dinner at your own table; they offer 2-3 sittings/night. The food is OK; shrimp risotto and salmon decent, but the truffle fries were truly awful (stale & dry). Decent service, but the ambiance needs work, hard tables/chairs, very small/rundown bathrooms.

We visited Andy's Jazz club to celebrate my son's 16th birthday -- he's a big jazz fan and wanted to see a live performance. The show was great, the food was good (pricey and it took some time to get it, but that was acceptable), and the atmosphere was fun. We were able to sit right in front of the stage so my son enjoyed a close-up view of the musicians with their instruments.

A memorable experience, from the Jazz to the food. Service was gracious, attentive and cheerful. From the appetizers, to the entrees to the dessert. Portions are modest, yet satisfying. We heard a magnificent quartet. Marcus Elliot Quartet from Detroit. All five of us enjoyed the food and wine. Will return when in Chicago with friends or for a date with my wife. When I think of Chicago and Jazz you get Andy's. Between mid-range and fine dining

First off im not a huge jazz fan but my husband is. It was late in evening and we decided to check it out. Luckily we walked in around 10 and Waited 5 mins for a table. Place is crowded but the music was amazing. Food excellent! Great staff as well! Def a must go place

Fun place to listen to great jazz in the River North neighborhood. It is a fun place to have a drink after work or sightseeing and before dinner.

On our first Chicago trip we wanted to experience some nice live music the city is known for. We looked up Andy's online and it was a right choice. It was pretty busy on Monday evening, we found seats at the bar and enjoyed our wine while listening to awesome musicians playing. It was a right choice and I would definitely go back.

Music can vary so do your homework. Tables are comfortably set out and the staff helpful. Best to get there 15 - 20 minutes before the show start time to get a decent seat. Especially if you want a booth. Good value and a memorable event of 2 to 3 hours duration.

Good music and a classic Chicago Jazz Club. The food isn't memorable but the environment and talent are.

We went and saw the Lowdown Brass Band at Andy's. They were great! It was $15 per person (that's a little pricy, but worth it) to get in. Our drinks were made very well. We did not have any food, but it looked good. The bar service was pretty good, but they could of been a little more attentive to refilling our drinks.

I like music, all kinds of music, except rap. The good stuff stays around, like Sinatra and Bennett and Fitzgerald and Cole Porter and Rodgers & Hammerstein. And jazz. I was introduced to jazz in the 1960s at the old London House in Chicago by Dave Brubeck. He always opened his set by playing his signature tune, "Take Five," a classic. But the London House is gone. Fortunately, Andy's Jazz Club is still with us. Located at 11 East Hubbard Street in downtown Chicago, in the burgeoning River North neighborhood, two blocks north of the Chicago River and two blocks west of the Magnificent Mile, it offers good music and good food from 4:30 to 11:30 while the music continues until 1 a.m. Opened in 1951 by entrepreneur Andy Rizzuto, it became a go-to destination for jazz enthusiasts in 1977 when local jazz promoter Penny Tyler and guitarist John Defauw introduced lunch jazz sessions. They became so popular that Andy's jazz program was expanded to include three bands daily with sessions at noon, 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Today, jazz at noon has taken a hiatus to make room for other music. But the 5 and 9 sessions are still very much alive. And if you don't drink, you can enjoy a good meal, like bruschetta, gumbo soup, 12-ounce New York strip steak, parmesan crusted chicken, Caribbean grilled salmon, Cajun shrimp risotto, grilled Amish chicken or braised beef short rib and Eli's cheesecake or creme brulee. Or you can sit at the bar and enjoy jumbo rings or smoked BBQ ribs or Andy's burger or tacos. It reminds me of the 1960s and the London House and Mr. Kelly's. Andy's Jazz Club fits right in.

We had a terrific Sunday night at Andy's Jazz Club,no matter the jet lag challenge !! :-) The atmosphere and the music was absolutely fantastic, the quartet totally engaged the audience until late. The improvisation in jazz it's key and they were absolutely spot on. Amazing the moment, when the waiter jumped on the stage and started singing like a pro. For the music you can pay cash at the door ( 10 USD per person) and if you wanna have dinner, it is better to reserve the table ,especially over the week end. If possible, try to book for the second music slot of the evening in order to take your time to finish dinner and keep the table for the drinks afterwards. The food was overall good. The starter was simple and tasty. The beef tender and juicy, much better than the salmon which resulted to me slightly overcooked, burnt on top and quite dry inside. Our waitress , mid aged lady, was efficient and quick with the service, though we missed a little smile and a slightly more friendly attitude. We loved the overall experience and will definitely repeat when back in the Windy City!

We have been here before and love the atmosphere and great music. As usual the music was great we went 3 nights payed the cover and enjoyed our night. Drinks are a little $$ but its worth it for the music.

Go to Andy's for the music. They serve food, and having a nosh with your jazz is a good idea, but I wouldn't recommend that you make a meal of it. The quality of the food is just not that good.

My son was in town and he had heard about Andy's so we stopped by for dinner and a few sets of music. We did not have reservations but two seats opened up at the bar. The bar staff was helpful in our choices for dinner and would come by to see if we needed another drink. I had shrimp and my son had the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection. We had a great time and everyone sitting at the bar were friendly and talkative. I wished we could of stayed longer but had to drop my son off at airport at 5 am.

be early , try the jambalaya enjoy the frendly service and the fine jazz, be seated on the second row of tables , and don t try the pisco sour .

Had dinner at Andy's Sat. 22 Feb. It's a pretty damn good place with great music - if you can hear it. The service was great - nice people - and the food was real good and reasonably priced. The great music came from the excellent Jeremy Cunningham Quartet. Unfortunately it was very hard to hear it with the chatter from the audience. Must be very frustrating for the band. Behind the band there was a sign that said Chicago Jazz in big letters. If the owner means that he/she should do something the quiet the audience.

Chicago has some good jazz and good restaurants.. Put them together and you can get a great night out. Andy's jazz club on Hubbard, falls into that catagary. A welcome greeting, good service and brilliant food. The starters were that good, you could just eat and eat and forget the main course. But we did'nt. I had the rack of lamb and my colleague had a prawn risotto. I got menu envy again. The two hour jazz session with the Chicago Jazz Orchestra made the night. What a great sound. Look out for Sonny G, jazz singer, what a voice, timing was perfection with the band. Will go back if in the City again.

Got to watch a famous jazz guitarist. Music was spectacular and the sound was not too loud and excellent. Great service and fun crowd!!

We had a great night there, the service and music was very good. Don't expect to be able to have a conversation, the place is small and music loud but certainly worth a visit. Cover charge to go in of $15

Looking for some good jazz while I was in town and was not disappointed. I sat at the bar and had a few drinks dinner and dessert. The bartenders, Logan and Mel were very good. They checked on me regularly and were very personable. I would highly recommend Andy’s.

Nice place to share a.few appetizers while listen music. Place quite small hence wherever you are seated you will see and listen ok

This is a real deal jazz club with amazing acts! They also have a full menu. Really cool vibe and great music

As a school band, we had the privilege to go to Chicago for a few nights. On our first night, they took us to Andy's (conveniently located in the heart of the city) and we all had a lot of fun. The atmosphere was amazing and it was an interesting experience as it was my first time in a jazz club. The music was phenomenal and I did indeed enjoy my time with my friends there. I have to say however that the seating was issue. There were very little seats in general and it was lucky that my school reserved tables because if they hadn't, we would be waiting in line for a while. I wouldn't be able to say what the prices were because my school had taken care of that part but I do believe that it was of average to expensive pricing. As for the actual food, I had ordered the Alfredo pasta and actually enjoyed it. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I am glad I was able to visit with friends and enjoy my time at a place as relaxing as Andy's. I would absolutely suggest it to anyone who is visiting the city (especially couples).

You don’t normally expect great food at a music venue so we were pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. I had skirt steak and my wife had a seafood salad - both were excellent. The jazz band were also excellent - really enjoyed a bit of authentic Chicago jazz.

Great place to just sit back enjoy the music and some wonderful food and lovey wait staff! Music is fantastic and not to loud. We heard the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, what a perfect venue! Excellent location too! I wish we had more time in town, this would have been a regular stop.

This is a great venue to hear jazz live and eat real food. We'd never been before but we got a table at the back of the room right opposite the stage area and with a good view of the performers. Beware that many tables do not have a view of the stage so you would have to mention this when you booked. The service was good, the food more than OK and although we had the table for two hours only, we weren't hurried sway. Admittedly it was a Monday night so the place wasn't packed. Only one negative - the guy on the door has a very aggressive sounding manner, and greets customers by demanding a $10 entrance fee. Try not to be put off. Note to Andy's Management: consider replacing this guy with someone who has some skill in customer-facing.

Went to dinner and for the early show. This place has a great atmosphere and we had a very good view of the band which played for almost 2 hours. The food was very good and the service was very attentive and service oriented. I recommend that before going you check on the band playing that night. Although I love Jazz, the band playing that night was not the type that I was looking for (I was looking for more Blueish, Funky and Soul and they were more experimental Jazz) but they were very good at that and we ended up enjoying some of their music. The place has a great Jazz Club atmosphere and it should get more crowded as the night moves on. It has a very nice bar where you can also watch the show and action.

If you're looking for a place to kick back and listen to some good music, this is the place to be. The music was very entertaining and delightful to listen to, which created a nice atmosphere. The food was mediocre, but it doesn't seem like most people come here for food. There is a $10 cover after 9pm I believe. Drinks were very good. Seating is limited, so if you come late be prepared to share a table with another group.

Husband and I went to Andy's Jazz Club for dinner September 1st..Place is nice along with jazz band while eating dinner. We ordered the salmon with asparagus and Cajun shrimp with risotto, which was very delicious, however I must say our server ( I think his name was Tio) was not friendly at all Almost seemed as though he was robotic. A smile would have been nice, so we ate dinner and left right away! Not sure if I'll return to Andy's Jazz club. Gail K

Never fails at providing world class talent, fun & friendly experience. Drinks are great, servers controlled chaos.

I had the Halibut and my husband had the Rueben! Both were excellent! We ate at the bar because we didn't have a reservation but we were able to stay for longer than 2 hours and there was no rush to eat. Just very relaxing and able to enjoy the jazz.

My boyfriend and I ate here for dinner on Saturday May 7th at 8:45pm. I had made a reservation on open table in advance. The food is good, nothing to write home about. The drinks were average. I had the short ribs, very tender with garlic mashed potatoes and lemon garlic broccoli. My boyfriend had chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and lemon garlic broccoli. There is a $15USD per person cover charge. There are usually 2 different shows. We caught the 9:30pm show which was very good. In total we spent about $140USD for the both of us which includes the cover. I would recommend this place if you are looking for something to do.

Reservations needed for ok food but really good jazz. Best to eat dinner as you get a good table or go to the bar to hear but not really see the musicians.

Walked in late Wednesday night not knowing what to expect after all the conflicting reviews. The service was good, our server Madison was very kind and helpful. The music was awesome, the set we saw lasted over an hour and a half and the music was great. I ordered the vonsky burger and it was very very good. My wife ordered the rissoto which was OK. There was a cover charge ($10). The food was a bit expensive for the quality but the music was well worth it.

We reserved a table for dinner, but there's still cover charge (cash only at door). The music was great! We really enjoyed it! The dinner was terrible. Service was okay but the dishes were not worth the price they charge. We've had better food at food court! Drinks are okay. We'd still recommend this place for the music.

I am not a jazz fan but everyone has told me to see some jazz when in Chicago. The Concierge at the hotel also recommended Andy's booked a table and gave a voucher for $5 off the cover charge. There is a cover charge irrespective of eating or not. There are 3 live sessions, so check out timings as it is possible you could miss a live show. They do say you can only have your table for 2 hours. The 'house' band comprising piano, trumpet, double bass, guitar and drums were incredibly accomplished musicians. I am a jazz heathen and therefore have no idea what the tunes were but they all seemed to have a fun time and the audience did too. The food was perfectly satisfactory. $12 burgers is probably good value. There were drink specials including a Belgian beer at $5 that was 10.5%! But you go to Andy's for the music and it didn't disappoint.

Great food, great atmosphere and good service. The prices are OK for this kind of place. Live music is awesome, I would definitely go there again. The only minor disadvantage - I couldn't see the part of the scene because of the column in the middle of the room...

We went to the early show with our teen sons because later shows are for adults over 21. The dinner menu was great and we a great jazz group. Menu includes steak, chicken, pasta, etc. All in all a good variety and good value. In addition to dinner there is a cover charge per person.

I always carve out time for a trip to Andy's every time I'm in downtown Chicago, and they never disappoint. Performances are straight ahead jazz at its best, and the food is great as well. I recommend the calamari, the greek salad, and the pizzas.

I have been a patron of Andy's since the 1970's Scott and Dick unfortunately we lost Dick in the 1990's In true and outstanding tradition Scott did not miss a beat some of the worlds greatest jazz musicians called Andy's home. Great musicians such as the late Franz Jackson, Barrett Deams, Von Freeman, as well as my very good friend that I miss very, very much John Young. Yet, the great jazz continues on with cats like Eric Schindler, Curtis Roberson, Henry Johnson, Kurt Elling, and many, many more great jazz musicians that has made Andy's a major staple in Chicago. The food is mainly American they also make a great pizza. You will love the music and enjoy the food. The more I talk about it the more I want to move back to the USA full time. What a wonderful Place. Scott and his family run a world class Jazz Joint. I love it and so will you. Enjoy!!! Marvin

This is a great venue if you like jazz. I had not been to a jazz club in almost 20 years but Andy's Jazz Club made up for it. The Mike Smith quartet was playing and what a show they gave! You have a choice of being right up front and personal with the band or sit back a distance and take in the scene. The food was great and the service was excellent.

Yes, they serve dinner. I didn't try it. Just went for the music. Comfortable River North location for live jazz until 1a. We go almost every time we are in the city.

Visited here on a Wednesday night looking for some good live jazz and we hit the jackpot. Saw Mike Smith and the friends play some very good music. If you like great sax playing, don't miss a visit to Andy's on a Wednesday night. It seems that Mike Smith has had a standing gig here on Wednesdays for 30 years. Food is good as well. A definite must stop of you like jazz. It's very accessible if you're staying downtown.

Andy jazz club has jazz live everyday, entrance is only 10$, food is good (try their Brussels sprouts), cocktails and atmosphere are really nice !

I loved this! We went for a bachlorette party because we wanted a chill night. I would definitely go back for a date night. Good music, food and service.

We were there for a private event....acoustics were bad. Venue is small and seating is limited. Bathrooms.....smallest I have ever seen

When in Chicago, I always try to stop in at Andy's. No matter who is playing, it's always great. Last time I was there I saw Fareed Haque. Being a musician myself I really love Andy's (and Fareed!).

The club has good music, but the entrance is expensive $ 15 per person without drinks, the waiter who has a beard was rude and despotic. I would not recommend this club while this waiter has continue working there.

If you are ready to enjoy awesome jazz and great food in one place this is your destination. On top of that, the service and accommodation before and after the 2hr table reservation were simply the best, cordial and respectful from the host and waiters. I was surprised at first by having to pay a $15.00 p/person cover chart at the door (since I was going for dinner and cocktails). However, it was all worth it when I noticed they don't let the place to overcrowd (it was Friday night!) so people can comfortably enjoy their activity. I intend to go back to Andy's Rest and Jazz everytime I go to Chicago!

Do not hesitate for a second, whether you are a tourist, an absolute or moderate fan of jazz or even novice. Everything is nice: the Room, Mood, Service and especially the band that was really top. we were a quartet night where the band was excellent. We had a drink listening to this excellent sound for 1h30. Possibility of dinner too. Reservations required, very easy online. Be careful if you come with minor children (teens for us), you will be forced to take a table, and cannot be located at the bar. No problem because the tables are extremely well placed!

Taking hints from previous reviewers we came for the 9:30 set on a Wednesday evening. $10 each cover and sat at the bar. The place was great. We enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar and enjoyed 90 minutes of great jazz. A must do if you are in the area.

Let's face it, Chicago is too full of good places to go, things to do, and places to eat. If you had to pick just a handful of things to do, here's why we like Andy's Jazz: - location is great if you are staying near Magnificent Mile or near the river downtown - the music was extremely good, legit musicians, feels like a real jazz club - foot was surprisingly good - cover charge was fair - service was good - we'd go back, great with friends (just don't talk loud over the jazz, please!) TIP: get there a bit earlier, enjoy a drink before the music starts and get a better seat. Don't sit exactly in front, but off to the side.

The ambiance and music in Andy’s Jazz Club was amazing. The cover charge of $15 was worth paying for the music alone. Food was good and tasty and the service was quick. Worth a visit if you are a jazz fan

Well, they say that you don't go to jazz club to eat and it holds true. The ambiance, music and overall atmosphere was absolutely fantastic and Joe Policastro Trio was superb! Bravo! At the same time food definitely desires to be better. Grilled fish tacos were quite dry, breadcakes.... sorry you cannot call them crabcakes... no comments there :-(. Jambalaya was not bad. Well, after all, you come there for the music. So, enjoy the atmosphere and great music, have some beer, and have great fun!

Bar/restaurant with Jazz shows everyday very good entertenaiment. For my taste sound was above my limit.

My wife and I came here to spend a nice evening before leaving for home very early Sunday morning. This is our 2nd time here. There is a $10 cover charge per person to pay the musicians. Our reservation was at 7 pm and we were seated promptly. Service was good though waiter somewhat quiet. We both had the pizza. Pretty good in fact. The jazz musicians were excellent and not exceedingly loud. Nice place to spend a evening with family, friends or loved one. We were able to chill out. Nice way to spend Saturday evening before a very early flight back home.

Our son was performing with his quintet at Andy’s Jazz Club, so we took a trip to Chicago to see him. We were there for two consecutive nights, and I will rate the first night since it was such an exceptional experience that set the bar very high for the second night. Colleagues of my husband joined us and I wish that they had curtailed their conversations a bit so that the music could have been enjoyed more. We were seated at a round table to accommodate us all. Our server, Alexandra, could not have been better! At first I thought she was giving us special attention because we were the parents of the band leader, but I observed her, and she gave the same exceptional service to everyone she interacted with. She is to be commended! I had a spinach salad for dinner, with craisins, walnuts, and feta which was delicious, and my husband so raved about the chicken parmesan that I ordered it the second night. I would rather have had the salad again. We all have different tastes, I guess. Andy’s is a first rate jazz club, and Chicago is lucky to have it. If you enjoy good food and drink and affordable live jazz, you can’t go wrong by choosing Andy’s Jazz Club.

The band we heard was traditional Jazz, not my favorite, but the food was excellent. My friend and I shared the apple spinach salad; so yummy! Also shared Cajun spice shrimp over risotto. Wonderful and enough for two. Nice wine list. Note there is also a cover charge to hear band. Seems a bit excessive if you are also eating and drinking.

Went to Andys on a recommendation for some Jazz music. Incredible music and impeccable food. From the appetizer ribs to the burger and steak. And our waitstaff Lucero, was a doll. Thank you Andy's.

4 of us stopped in at Andy's Jazz Club early on a Saturday evening hoping for a quick dinner. We were short on time due to our weekend plans, and had not expected to have the time for a jazz club. But, Andy's was a great suprise - the oppportunity to have great pizza, drinks and wonderful live Jazz, early in the evening - was an unexpected change in plans for us. Although it was unplanned, it was one of the highlights of our weekend.

Andy’s was recommended to us on a family visit and we all enjoyed it. The music was good and the food was simple, though fine. The room is not large, so there’s a decent view of the stage from most seats. Best to avoid near the stage though, as it might be too loud for many people. If you arrive 15-20 minutes ahead of the set, you should get the table you want.

Fantastic atmosphere. Guy King played the night we were there, he is a must see. The food and drinks were great. This place should be on your list.

was looking for a place with live music and close to my hotel. Andy's Jazz bar was great little joint. Had a great meal (braised beef as I recall) and a cool trio was playing. It made my night!

We came on a Saturday night for the 7 pm show. There was a $15 cover charge per person to listen to the music, and we did order dinner as well. My husband normally likes jazz, but he wasn't very happy with the group we saw. Usually, jazz musicians sort of roll with the music and get lost in it (as if the audience is incidental,) but these performers were very aware of the audience and perhaps a little over confident. The food was ok but not remarkable. The brie toast appetizers were definitely the highlight. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We stayed for the entire 7 pm set since the food service is pretty relaxed. Read the web site about possible time limits on your table reservations. In all, it was ok, but we won't be going back.

Great place to watch a live jazz show, the place is nice and with the right tach, but the most important the show was amazing.

Love this place! Although it is a bit awkward of a set up, I love the vibe, the music, the bar and the food. An intimate setting makes you feel like you are at a party with all of your jazz loving friend. I'm a blues lover too and enjoy when Andy's has blues as well.

The food wasn't too bad, the music was "meh" - very middle of the road, with the band more interested in touting their CDs than entertaining patrons, but the service was absolutely awful. The four of us arrived nice and early (c. 6pm), ready for a nice night of jazz, drink and food, but we were off to a bad start right from the outset. Even though the place was almost empty, we had to wait over 20 minutes for our first drinks. Then over 30 minutes for the appetizer. We were over two hours in, and the place had started filling up, before we'd managed to get three drinks and two courses out of the server. The final straw was when my friend's wife knocked over her glass of water and we were left sitting there nursing a tablecloth full of water for over 20 minutes before we could catch anyone's attention. We left and finished our evening elsewhere. My only wish is that we'd heeded the warning signs and left earlier...

Very interesting atmosphere. The staff is very small in number but very committed to make you happy. No one stays waiting. Jazz music is good but the fun part comes with the Jam session, the audience is invited to play. Those interested in making part of the show, write their names and are called to join the band along the show. Fantastic!

If you look for nice jazz live music in a sort of landmark place in town for this kind of entertainment, Andy is a good place. The venue is not too large but is comfortable enough to let you enjoy the concert from every corner. Quality of musicians is high. But music in one of the two parts of the thing, and the restaurant doesn't keep the same good pace of the music. Average place, nothing really special on their menu, service not particularly friendly, Andy is not comparable to other Jazz places across US. The easiest comparison is with the Blue Note in NY...well, no competition here, nor for the music nor for the food. The style of the place is more or less the same, but in NY your dinner will be much better experience. So, great place for drink with music, average for the dinner. The atmosphere is anyway nice and pleasant.

I've been going to Andy's over the last 10 years and had an opportunity on the evening that the Chicago Jazz Orchestra was playing with a full 16-17 piece orchestra; needless to say, it was an amazing evening and that's before getting into the meal. Don't let this place fool you, as the food here is amazing too. For the app's, I highly recommend the ceviche, as it is amazing, but could use just a few more fresh plantain chips that were equally perfect; my colleague had the sliders which he found amazing and the melted brie plate was very good too. One colleague had the rack of lamb that he found pleasantly surprising and others had salmon that were all perfectly cooked; so with all this being said, look no further for dinner and entertainment!

We went to Andy's on. Recent vacation in Chicago. This is a wonderful experience right from entering the building. A band was playing terrific music and the smell of the food was wonderful. Highly recommended: Barrett's Bloody Mary, Crab Cake Duo, and Cajun Shrimp Risotto. I would, and have already, recommended this location to friends and family.

Great jazz, good food and drinks. And one of the biggest advantages over other jazz and blues clubs in Chicago: lets you stay with your kid (11 years old) if arrive before 7 PM e stay seated at a table for the show.

We went on a Wednesday evening to eat food and listen to some music. Due to the table being very close to the stage it was difficult to talk during the performance but we should have listened more anyway, the quality of the music was excellent. The food was ok but I guess it's more about the music at Andy's. I had a 1/2 rack Rib starter followed by Prawn Risotto. I would usually expect a risotto to be of loose consistency and not set in a tower but it wss tasty enough. The waiter was attentive and the service was quick. Come here for a great live Jazz experience.

This was our first jazz club experience and it did not disappoint. We got a table right up front and just sat and had a couple of drinks while taking in the great jazz. Will return!

We came here for dinner and some live music. The music was great and the food was equally as great. I had the lobster stuff ravioli with vodka sauce. It was amazing. My wife had the salmon and said it was just as good as any salmon she has had. The staff were great, and the food came out fast. Overall, I am really glad we choose this location for our evening of entertainment.

we have visited Andy´s a couple of weeks ago and the experience was fantastic, with really good music and great food. If you like good jazz this is one of the places to go in Chicago. A classic.

On a Monday night, the crowd was light and the jazz was poetic. My fifteen year old son and I caught the early show, shared some fries and a Pepsi and had a great time for only a $10 cover. 20 minute walk from the Palmer House...perfect.

I have a great time here. I got to see Andrew Toombs performed with his band. The food and drink was good and the staff was great. Nice place to visit and enjoy the music scene.

Never been to a Jazz club? Go to Andy's - one block behind Trump tower so easy to walk to from the river hotels in downtown Chicago. The menus when you open them light up just like the backlight of a cell phone so no problem reading them in a club atmosphere. Food is excellent - short rib is large; 12 oz steak beats other restaurants for taste and softness and actually comes with veggies; banana crème brulee is perfect for cleaning the palate. Went there 3 nights in a row - different Jazz quartets every night and a 15 piece orchestra on Wednesday. Music is not too loud for the club atmosphere. Regardless if you are going for drinks, food, or live Jazz, cover charge is $10.

We sat close to the stage and enjoyed trumpeter Pharez Whitted for an hour and a half. The menu was minimal but we were there for the music anyway.

visited Andy's for the music and was pleasantly surprised by quality of food. Huge Reuben sandwich [forget the fries, nothing special] and my husband thought the jumbalaya with duck breast was excellent. good beers - try Revolution cross of gold . we got there for first set at 5pm and place was empty but by 6:30/7 it was full and boisterous. reasonable cover [$10], good service. we often go to shaw's for jazz and Andy's was a nice variation.

Had a party of ten and arrived a bit before the rest of the party. The second we sat down, the waiter did not seem too happy to be helping our table. The music was great, food was too, but when an employee spilled a drink on a friend no apologies were given. It wasn't a big deal but the waiters attitude still didn't change after the incident. We enjoyed our time but hate when customer service has to ruin our time. Overall, a great place but seems our waiter had a Case of the Mondays.

When you are dining at a popular music venue, theatre or club I am always dubious as to how good the food will be as they know the entertainment will bring in the diners and so many venues feel they can serve up mediocre food. However, the food at Andy's Jazz Club & Restaurant was superb. The menu is not extensive but it is appetite inducing none the less. There were 7 Starters, 2 Salads, 9 Main dishes and 4 Desserts to choose from. We had the Loaded Mac & Cheese, Truffle Steak Cut Fries and Creole Sambosas to start, all of which were very good. For our 'main attractions' we had the Stuffed Beef Roulade, (stuffed with spinach, gorgonzola cheese and proscuitto), and this was out of this world. I enjoyed every mouthful and didn't want the last mouthful to end, it really was delicious. To finish I had the NY Style Cheesecake which again was exceptional. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable with our food coming out at US$50 a person. The ambiance is intimate and chilled and the Jazz that is severed up with dinner just makes it all taste that much sweeter. In short I loved my dinner at Andy's Jazz Club and would recommend a meal here to anyone whether you like Jazz or not.

This place was recommended to us by a friend for the Jazz. The music was great, and the food was good too. To get a table you must make dinner reservations, and there is a 2-hour limit for the table. There were two sets, and we got there for the 9:30 pm set. We felt like we had to eat a full meal to justify our table...and the food was good, but drinks were really pricey. Because we came later, we also had to pay a $15 cover each...even though we weren't just going to the bar.

Definitely a place to visit for pleasant food and great performers and a fantastic evening. I do not need to say anything else

Went at 6:30 and was treated to some fantastic jazz with a very innovative professional group. It is noisy, but no more than one would expect. The food was not expensive and was very ample. If the other bands are at this level, WOW. Hope to be able to return next visit to Chicago, Might try to get there earlier as the crowd might be smaller.

I once lived in this wonderful JAZZ JOINT. In the old days Joe was on the door, his wife Meme behind the bar, Scott"the owner" walking and talking to everyone in the club. In those days his late co-owner Dick hung out in the basement. The bar was lined with myself, Marvin, Harry, and Charlie. We listened to the best Jazz in the city of Chicago. (John Yong, John Baniy and his band, last but not least The great Barrett Deams Big band, with Barry winagrad of WDCB on baratone sax. Those day's are long gone. Yet, the Jazz at Adndy's is still the best jazz in Chicago. You never know who will stop in and play. These are the best Jazz musicians in the world. I love Andy's Jazz Club Second to NONE. The Food is is outstanding. Nothing like Great Jazz, Great ambience as well as outstanding food. When I get back to ChiTown, I make sure thank I go to Andy's. I was just there. Be prepared for greatness! All the best to each and everyone of you. Marvin H The Man

Popped in for a late beer and the jazz experience . a tightly packed bar , reasonable menu , lots of beers and of course the Jazz was sublime . worth a visit when your next in Chicago .

So happy this place was open despite the pandemic. They have got great vibes, the sort of the place which knows its regular customers. Good selection of food and drinks as well.

As Andy's gave us "The here's your check, please pay and leave" aka The Bum's Rush. Not just us but every table was given the rush, we couldn't understand why they would do drive their customer out and leave and empty club. How do they stay in business? Making customers feel unwelcome certainly won't create return business. Andy's has a 2 hour reserve on tables. As we understood it, you can have the table for 2 hours. However if Andy's has other reservation needing a table, they will ask you to give up your table and move to the bar. Understandable if there is a line at the door. Otherwise they said you are welcome stay at your table. But that wasn't the reality we experience on a Friday night. We reserved a table and ate dinner, and listened to a nice Jazz quartet. As we looked around about 25% of the tables were empty and no line at the door. So we thought we would have another drink and enjoy the next group. However at the end of the set our check was plopped on our table, as well as every other table. Signaling pay and get out. The room emptied and we felt bad for the next band that was going to be playing to an empty room. On what you would expect to be a busy Friday night, this may explain why there was not a line at the door. There are allot of great Jazz clubs in Chicago that make you feel welcome, just not this one.

We came here for Valentines Day.We waited for almost an hour for our food.I was expected to hear good jazz music but it was jus loud noise! The food was great though but I Dnt care to visit again.

My friends and I spent our evening at Andy's last night and we had an excellent time. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The music was excellent and the bartenders were very knowledgeable at their craft. I highly recommend the Bloody Mary. It comes with a small High Life backer which is a refreshing addition. If you are looking for a fun relaxing environment to hang out with your friends for the evening I highly recommend Andy's.

We don't really like jazz music but since we were in Chicago, we had to try the jazz scene. This place was recommended by the concierge in our hotel. It was an interesting place. Note that we were asked to produce our IDs before we can get in. The place was full when we came. Sorry but I can't comment much on the music, but people seemed to be enjoying it. Hence, I based my reviews on the reaction of the people on the band playing. The food though wasn't that great. We had a couple of drinks and then left.

Returned to Andy's as part of anniversary celebration, enjoyed good meal, service, drinks and good jazz. Happened to be open stage night. 11 E Hubbard, easy walk from numerous hotels in area Andy's has full service bar and small dining areas, be advised that farthest table is only about 25 feet from stage. 2 hours limit on table if they are busy, we always make reservations.

We always enjoy experiencing some jazz when we visit America and on the advice of our hotel concierge we booked dinner at Andys on the second night of our stay in Chicago. We had to pay a $10 cash cover charge each on entering. The feel of the place was in keeping with old time gangster Chicago with dark surroundings and secret feel to the place. We ordered dinner and waited for the band to start. From thereon in it was all a bit disappointing for the following reasons: 1. The serving staff lacked personality although we can't fault their service 2. The place as a whole had little ambience 3. The band were talented no doubt but they took a while to get going and in my opinion a live gig needs to be livelier. 4. The food was ok but overpriced and came across as pre-prepared. 5. We just came away feeling $200 light for the 3 of us without feeling like it was worth it therefore disappointed. 6. You can come across free jazz bands playing around the city that are a better experience. I'm afraid I can't recommend this place.

I scoured Chicago jazz and blues clubs, and for different reasons decided against the most popular ones that come up in the search. We were all set to go to one out in a burb, but heard by word of mouth about Andy's and boy, am I ever glad we did!!! GREAT jazz, GREAT ambience, Good Food, SO close to the Magnificent Mile! Ultimate experience listening to to sets of musicians, soaked in the music, the sights. It was a Monday night at 8:00, I didn't expect that there would be any good acts, but I was very surprised and pleased that we got our jazz experience after all in Chicago, and so close to all the action.

Not to be missed. $10 entrance fee (to pay the musicians). fantastic service and a good range of food and drinks. Sit, eat, drink and listen to some excellent musicians playing some fine jazz. We went there two nights running.

The jazz trio was good and were excellent to watch and listen to. The food was on the costly side but obviously we were also paying for the entertainment. I would highly recommend this for a music lover.

This was my second visit to Andy's and I haven't been disappointed on either occasion. The live music was great and was a bit loud this particular visit. I am sure this also depends on the musicians and their style of jazz. Everyone's choice for dinner was delicious and the drinks were even better. Definitely a place to stop when in Chicago.

What could you want more...during the week no reservation is necessary, just walk in and grab a table in front of the stage. The show starts at 7pm and follows by a second band at 9pm. Food was just ok.

What a disappointment The guy on the door was more interested in counting the cover charges he collected. The hostess went to great pains to make sure we knew we only had our table for two hours, but having paid our cover charge we could stay in the bar after our food if we wished. We sat down and had 20 mins of jazz and then an hour wait before the next set. You must be a real jazz fan to like it here. The food was average at very best and the menu descriptions were not great either. We won't be going back.

Went on a couples night and really enjoyed the live jazz - I could have stayed all night. The music and atmosphere were great and I'll definitely be going back again in the near future. The food was average at best... but then you're not really there to eat. The only reason we did was because you can only reserve / get a table if you eat. Next time we'll get there early and stand / sit by the bar and watch the jazz from there. There's a $15 cover charge which seemed reasonable to me.

We made a reservation for 7:30 and arrived at 7:10 and quickly seated. A wonderful Quartet was playing which we enjoyed for almost 2 hours. The club was busy so the service was slow but the waitstaff was very friendly. Our meal was pleasant enough and the value was middle range, the menu was not vast but enough to please all types of tastes. I would definitely return. In busier times they do inform you that the seating is for a 2 hour maximum, and there is a $15 cover charge per person whether you are dining or not.

Very satisfied with our level of service\, Food tasted great and the music was very entertaining... Make sure that you make a dinner Reservation if you want to get in ..

The food here is surprisingly good given the emphasis is on drinking and music. I have always had a delightful time and there is never any pressure to have another drink or flip the table. Rarely miss going here when I am in Chicago.

A group of 6 people decided to check out the Jazz club for dinner and drinks. We called and made reservations but were never told about the $10 cover charge. We paid and went in. The music was good and I liked that it wasn't over the top with noise. You could actually have a conversation while there. What was interesting was the service. The waitress was easily confused and took her 30 minutes to figure out how to divide the check but 6. We said just take the total including tax and we will put the equal amounts on our charge cards. What confused her was who was going to pay the tip. We said we would each add 20% to each bill. Some how she thought sh would end up with 120% of a tip and continued to say that was too much. Obviously her school didn't have the "Common Core" in place... or maybe it did lol

An old habit for us when we are in the City is to listen to some jazz at Andy's. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The wine selection is good. And the jazz fun!! We usually go before dinner and enjoy some music and drinks.

Sammy Miller and the Congergation were fabulous musicians and hugely entertaining. Service, cocktails, beer and food ALL to a very high standard. Good idea to reserve a table. And for anyone not used to USA you really do need ID no matter how old you think you look.

We came here with a large student group for dinner before a concert at the symphony center. The tables were ready when we arrived for our reservation, with pitchers of pop and cups already at the tables. We were able to order from a small menu that offered a variety of choices including a burger, sandwich, salad , or pasta, all including chocolate chip cookies for dessert. The food was OK and the service was pretty good. The wait staff interacted well with the students. The biggest reason to visit Andy's is for the excellent live jazz. I have been to Andy's a few times and the music is always top-notch. It's pretty loud if you sit near the stage, so get a table toward the back if you want to talk during your meal.

We live near Chicago and stayed downtown overnight recently to celebrate a birthday. We went to Andy's (near our hotel) and absolutely loved it! The cover charge is very reasonable considering the quality of the music you hear-which was great the night we went. We weren't that hungry (we'd had brunch earlier in the afternoon) and were there mostly for the music, but we got some french fries (excellent!) and a beer (very good, also). We absolutely loved the experience and it made me wonder why we don't go more often. We will in the future and highly recommend Andy's to everyone!

Went there in a Monday night and the place was friendly with good staff. Live music and reasonable prices Will go there again as a good place to unwind.

I'm not a jazz expert but I thought the music was great. $10 cover charge when you are dining seems a bit odd but I accepted it with no problem. The jam session with walk-ins was pretty neat. All the walk-ins were pretty amazing. The food is really just average however. My strip steak wasn't horrible but if it was USDA Choice I would have been kind of surprised. Even though I ordered medium-rare it was still tough and there was clearly little marbling. They were out of filet which is what we wanted so I can't rate it. But hey in Chicago where an aged strip steak can be over $100 what do you expect for $30? So if you want some great live jazz and are hungry head on over. Don't expect a memorable meal though.

Took a group from work to enjoy a little jazz and some good food. The staff was great, very polite and very informed. We were seated right away and had drinks on the table in no time. We ordered appetizers for the table and drinks. Enjoyed the music and the drinks while waiting for entrées. I was very impressed with the salmon in the fillets on the table look very good. Although we really didn't want to we had dessert. The dessert was just as good as the music. While in Chicago this is a must.

Nothing too special. This place was listed as one of the top five in Chicago but the atmosphere has nothing to do with "I love jazz". If you want to enjoy the music then seat closer to a stage not by the bar. Drinks are not much to choose from either. Oh, and if you are European woman accompanied by African-American gentleman you will be stared a lot at.:-) Average.

We caught a band “Charles Heath’s Early Risers” at Andy’s last night; WHAT a great night. Unexpected as we were not really looking for entertainment, just dinner. The food was so good (we both had chicken); large portions, attentive service (even though we were not drinking alcohol); moderate pricing. However, the best part of the evening was the band, Charles Heath’s Early Risers, a local (I think) jazz group. Lively music, great jazz. The band also invites new artists to join them on stage, and had a young drummer Jeremiah Callier up for a piece. Talented young artist who, judging by the performance he did last night, will go far! But, while the night would have been complete with the band, the food, the ambiance, the hands down BEST part was the singing waiter, Ty Perry! His rendition of “Cry Me a River” still has me humming today. We did not realize he was a waiter till half way through his piece, he ran down to fill water glasses in his section (yes, while he was on stage! As I said, great service!). Highly recommend Andy’s! You gotta go whenever you are in Chicago!

Went by myself on a business trip. Made reservation a few hours before to ensure a seat - caught the second set by Chicago Jazz Orchestra. Food was quick and good (Pizza and salad), service was great. Jazz was wonderful - just a nice relaxed evening. There was a cover charge, but it wasn't crazy.

Recommended by a local resident, we went to try this place and it came out amazingly great. Full of people at bar. Live music, excellent food and drinks. Totally live. Full of energy. What else you need.

Enjoyed dinner here with family while enjoying great music from trio playing originals and standards. Mojitos were good (not too sweet like most bars I've been to recently). Food was much better than your average pub grub. We shared the ceviche with plantain chips and the crab and avocado salad, both were good. Husbands duck jambalaya was excellent!

The food was great and we experienced two jazz bands. The group starting at 9.30pm was excellent so I suggest you book for later in the evening. A very nice informal atmosphere - we hope to return at some time in the future!

Although a bit pricey, it’s worth going. Live music is great and the food is good. Tips: The club has a restaurant so you can go with kids under 21 yo

Visit Chicago regularly and often go to Andy's for great jazz performers. This time we saw Jordan Baskin Trio and they were great. The food at Andy's is good although a bit pricey especially when adding on a cover charge (should be omitted for diners). The location and atmosphere are also great.

No problem with being seated on a Thursday night. Nice that they offer multiple shows per evening so that we early-birds can enjoy the music without having to stay out later than we want. The food was good (ribs, salad) but at the steep prices I expected something outstanding.

Has been a very nice night in terms of food and music. I went here for my Honey moon and was our first dinner with music in Chicago. Around the Restaurant you can breath the air of a jazz club 60s 70s. All the wall with bricks and pictures of jazz musicians. In the center of the club there is the stage and the atmosphere was very chill even because the wick light around the club make all the environment special, your only desire it's hear Jazz Music and drink a good cocktail. The only think that annoy me has been the air conditioned. There was always a bit of cold air that came to us directly on ur head. For the rest, we enjoyed our food and drink and the quartet that played that night has been grate. No standard Jazz but them productions. Cool. Exactly was 2th october 2015, if some one knows the name of the band, let me know please.

Great venue for live jazz! The food was good, too. We enjoyed our evening very much, and will definitely return in the future.

I took my family here for are annual Chicago Christmas shopping weekend and had a great time. It was the first jazz club for my 11 and 13 year old kids. They loved the music and atmosphere. The food was not bad either. In fact it was better than I expected. I would recommend Andys!!

I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food at Andy's. I had the BEST short rib entree I've ever had, so tender and flavorful. Service was good. The music was good, but tended to be too loud to have conversations during dinner. Mixed drinks at the bar left a lot to be desired; first drink was actually awful enough for me to send back.

The ambience and music was excellent. Food was ok, I would give it 3.5 - 4* for the food. Overall had a great evening. Bottom line Highly recommended for a great evening with entertainment. Want gourmet food this is not your place.

They let you listen to live, quiet jazz. It costs $20 to enter the store. People line up to enter the restaurant even if they have made reservations to pay for it. Nachos were delicious.

I visited during the FIRST band set and I enjoyed myself. Hunter Diamond Quintet (Good Music)... Smooth Bar setting.

While travelling with family and children, found this amazing jazz bar that accomodated our group. The early show as perfect for children. Food was ok, nothing amazing but the Jazz was awesome. Our wait staff lacked personality and was not very welcoming which made us feel uncomfortable. Tried not to focus on it but honestly your working with the public for heavens sake!

We went there for the 5pm session for $10. They played some popular music which many of them I knew. There were many tourists since it has been very famous. I have been there many times and always as good as expected.

Music was amazing. The service was horrible, we have to live the place because we were begging for service, it maybe the best jazz place in Chicago but not now.

We got there at 9:30pm in a friday of July exactly when Mike Smith Quintet started to do their magic. They charge $15/person to see the band, what in my humble opinion is a bargain considering the caliber of these guys. The place was crowded, but the staff managed to get us an table for two. In a couple of minutes, all tables were occupied, so we were lucky this time. They played jazz standards in exquisite arrangements, with Mike himself doing great performance with his saxophone, in the company of a trombone, piano, bass and drums. Really amazing. They have a honest selection of wine and beer, with prices not low but not so bad for a night club. To eat we had a generous plate of fish and chips in the crèole style. Delicious. All in all, its definitely a place that I want to come back and recommend for all.

Great well-known place near the Wrigley building. I stopped by in the afternoon and enjoyed excellent music while having a drink and early dinner at the bar. Would come back again. 10$ cover.

Tried the restaurant this time with my family and we were all impressed. My 9 year old granddaughter was made very welcome by staff and the band! She is expanding her music and is in love with jazz as a result of what she heard at Andy's! The jazz is always top notch and a lovely way to unwind after a long day of seeing the city. Thanks again for amazing memories!

My family took me here for my birthday. It is a small joint with great food, great entertainment. .I cant wait to go back. The service was average seem like the server just was not a pleasant person. .other staff was more pleasant. The liquor list is limited to basic drinks because they don't have a blender. The food was Great.the jazz band played and sang..even sang 2 songs for us 4 that happened to be there celebrating our birthdays at the same time. The music was great my husband even bought me their CD. Please check them out. ..downtown Chicago

Live band is the reason to go. Intimate space and great music. Make reservation for table close to stage. Drinks and food were ok. Place could be great with better food and drinks. Shrimp risotto and empanadas were good. Other dishes were not. Cocktails not done well. Go for music and appetizers. Appreciate that portion of cover goes to artists and you can directly tip the band.

Great location, atmosphere, and food. Due to it's size, you need to make reservations and be prepared to get 'moved along' after two hours. If you can get past that, relax and take in all that Chicago has to offer! Andy's is located near the best piano bar district you'll find anywhere. The cajun shrimp is a favorite of ours, and the staff do a fine job making you feel right at home.

I walked in about 10:30 pm on a Thursday night by myself. Got charged $10 at the door. OK no problem! There were only seven eight tables occupied, but I have been given two choices; a table by the piano or a high-table way back in the corner. I choose the table by the piano. I am not kidding! The table is right by the stage, right behind the piano player. I order the grilled salmon, which was quite good. Now, at midnight, I am sipping on my second glass of Chardonnay. Music is good, but the place is practically empty. I am getting neck cramps from looking sideways to musicians. I would have stayed longer, certainly enjoyed music much, much better if I was sitting across from the stage instead practically attached to it. They must be expecting a lot of "better" customer I guess. Go figure!

While this is an OK spot to grab a drink or two at the bar while listening to good live music, I strongly recommend eating dinner elsewhere. The food was average, but the service was appalling, and we were nickel and dimed throughout the entire evening. Be prepared that there is a $10 per person cover charge even with a dining reservation so for a party of 4, we paid $40 just to get in the door. At least the doorman was pleasant. Despite the high cost of the cuisine and the higher end menu offerings, we were shocked by the complete lack of service. We were never brought glasses of water which is standard for a restaurant at that price point. One of the members of our party ordered a soft drink and the waiter kept refilling it without mentioning that it was $3.50 per refill. The food was average at best. When you eat here, you are paying for the live music because everything else about the establishment is seriously lacking. When the bill came, the gratuity suggested amounts were calculated and someone had highlighted them with bright pink high-lighter which seems kind of tacky. While less than ideal, all of this would have been tolerable, but my 1 star rating was because of the extremely rude manager. We had a question about our bill and the waiter brought over the manager who was condescending and hostile. The live music isn’t good enough for us to ever endure another evening here.

My wife and I ventured to Andy's Jazz Club on a recent visit to Chicago. It was a horrible experience, and I implore you to seek one of the many other live music venues in the city. After paying a steep cover ($15) to enter, we were greeted by the hateful hostess, who immediately informed us that we were to vacate our table after the 2 hour time limit. Being familiar with the English language and having no reading comprehension problem, we were quite aware of the policy. Signage all over the venue and on the website made clear the 2 hour limit. Nevertheless, rather than welcome us, we were barked at. Good start. We were then taken to a table with an obstructed view, so I moved our table no more than six inches to where it was still against the wall and was blocking nothing. The waiter immediately came over and shouted at us, and violently dragged the table toward my wife, knocking items on the table into her lap. Now, a simple "please don't move the table" would have sufficed. The waiter's action was completely unnecessary. This table moving incident must have really angered our waiter because it became nearly impossible to get his attention, and he acted like a complete jerk when he did come around. We were finally able to order a starter, but he never came back to take an entree order. In fact, the hateful hostess came to collect my wife's menu while we were still waiting, and when I told said hateful hostess that we had not yet ordered entrees, she rudely told me "Well you've got that one, isn't that enough?" Perhaps jerk behavior is part of the schtick at Andy's. If so, they should warn you as adamantly about that policy as they do the 2 hour time limit policy. Terrible experience all around. As an aside, the music was very good, but the service was so bad it was impossible to enjoy it.

We did not go for dinner but went for the music. The best Jazz Bar ever! The bartender was great. Always ready to serve with a smile. We would definitely go back when we visit Chicago next time.

We enjoyed a late dinner seating for the second set on a Saturday night. The restaurant has a 2 hr time limit on dinner tables so plan accordingly if you want to listen to play-sets while at your table instead of moving to the bar. I felt the food was priced according to portions offered and was tasty. Menu offers appetizers, salads, entrees and burger/sandwiches, and desserts. Music was the best part of the evening. Not sure if the coverage charge is required on every evening ($15 each for our evening), but it was charged whether we were eating dinner or just sitting in the bar, which can unfortunately add up to an expensive evening out.

A days has been around for many years, but is still one of the best jazz clubs in Chicago. We dropped in after some dinner at Shaws next door and caught the end set of the first group and the first set of the second group. There is a cover charge that increases after 7 pm but it's worth catching a piece of 2 bands. Place is very casual and you can eat there as well, but we preferred to dine prior to going because the food is ordinary- the main attraction is the music- crowd is definitely into jazz. Check out the schedule before you go - the jazz is diverse. We enjoyed the early more classic group over the more dissident second set.

Hey, it was a Monday night. Wanted both dinner and live music.... dinner? yes easy to find. live music? well not so easy on a Monday, but this place says they have live music 7 days a week. I thought they only had a cover charge on weekends, but upon arrival found they were charging $10 each. We hesitated, had never heard of the quartet playing, but the guy taking the money said they were good...was he biased? Sure. We had arrived at 6:30, but the band didn't play until after 7, still they have a 2 hour limit that you can occupy a table. I guess you get kicked out after 2 hours. We found that the quartet - piano, bass and drums was missing the leader of the band who was also the lead singer. A lady substituted and it was clear that they do not usually perform together. However, our waiter did get up on stage for a song and he was better, much better. As for dinner, no bragging here. Expensive drinks, wine and beer. Very limited entree menu but $$$. We ordered from the "Bar Bites" selections, mediocre food and small portions. I selected this place based on the website description, but I think they exaggerated quite a bit.

Great musicians, fun atmosphere. Directly across from the courtyard Marriott and other nightclubs for the younger set. Enjoyable evening.

The music was really nice, but the person that seated us was a bit grouchy and our waiter was a bit too. Just not the friendly service that we like. The food was pretty good, however, we didn't really understand why we needed to pay a cover AND over $100 in drinks and food.

A most enjoyable evening here with another couple. Andy's is a place to treasure, with a beautiful jazz history. Loved the second band...New Orleans brass band..but didn't like the organ-led loud funk band before it. Had a very good meal, but we had to leave after 2 hours. Don't like that policy, especially after the 3 of us spend almost $200 for drinks/dinner.

My wife and I enjoyed a great New York Sirlon steak and dessert while we enjoyed an outstanding jazz show. Be sure to make reservations since they fill up fast. Great ambiance!

We were in Chicago for work and on our bucket list was to enjoy some live jazz. Unfortunately, my friend forgot her ID. As we arrived we were surprised to ne asked forour ID. We are both 40 year old women and after presenting my ID and trying to jokingly described our age. Unfortunately at this point my friend realized she had forgotten her ID. The door persons answer was something to the effect of "not all of us are as nice, or as liked, as Canadians". He then proceed to lecture us about travelling with ID. His patronizing, unwelcoming attitude was not appreciated. Customer service is very important in the hospitality industry and sadly this place is lacking on this front. Music was amazing!

We took a cab here from our hotel. They charge $10 cover fee per person on Sunday night. The sign says you can only stay for two hours. We had a reservation for 7:30 pm. The first set is 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The next set is 9:30 PM and 11:30 PM. Each set lasts for one and a half hours. They let us stay past the two hours because they didn't have any more reservations coming in. We ordered a bottle of wine, least expensive wine $42 per bottle. We shared a salad which was good. Then ordered a margarita pizza ($15), which was terrible. They should not call this a pizza, it was a flatbread with tomato slices and cheese. We enjoyed the music.
Wonderful Jazz
The doorman at out hotel recommended this Club. The over charge is either $10 or $15 depending on your time of arrival--it allows you to sit at a table for 2 hours and eat or drink. We didn't have reservations and got seated-by luck-and ate. After two hours you have to vacate the table, but can stay to listen to all the performers. The jazz was wonderful.
