Adorable, fun restaurant

By suziedeaux |

Angelina has one of the best brunches in Chicago- the only downside is that it is VERY busy so try to make reservations if you can or you may have to wait a long time for a table. Also it's not a huge restaurant so you sit pretty close to other tables and it can get semi-loud (but that's part of the fun, in my opinion). The mimosa brunch is amazing- $20 for a large breakfast dish and unlimited mimosas (uh, yes please!) and the music played is hilarious (Robin S, Elton John, etc.)! You'll be dancing in your seat for most of your meal!

Too noisy!

By Equado |

This is in an out of town centre location and the only 'decent' restaurant near our hotel. When we entered we had a short wait for a seat and then were placed at a table near the window. The restaurant was quite busy and very noisy but the young couple in the window table next to us were either having a argument or determined to shout above everybody else. We were glad when they left - only to be replaced by an older couple who were, if anything, louder and more argumentative! Don't go there if you plan a romantic Italian dinner for two! We left as soon as we could. The food was OK but to be honest we went to the local supermarket and picked out some nice hot food from the counter for the rest of our stay.

Appealing Italian

By Elaine M |

Wonderful meal in an intimate restaurant. As soon as you enter the restaurant, the aromas greet you. It reminded me of the The service was friendly and the entrees were delicious and generous. It reminded me of Tuscany.

Bottomless Mimosas!

By Todd K |

Great place for Saturday or Sunday brunch. Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary's are a delicious accompaniment to any entrée.

Wonderful

By John T |

Angelina is a wonderful restaurant that doesn't seem to get the media attention it deserves. Every dish is excellent: not trendy or "daring" but just excellent. The place is very busy, at least on Saturday nights. The service is very good.

Lovely neighborhood Italian restaurant

By Wiltonsjs |

Always a pleasure to go here. A bit of a "hidden gem" in Lakeview, homey ambiance, thoughtful staff...and a kitchen that consistently produces very imaginative and well crafted food. Bravissimo!

Good Food

I had dinner with my daughter there. Food was really good and the service was too. Charming atmosphere.

A Wonderful Experience

By BetsyFloski |

Angelina's is a small, niche restaurant good enough to have hung on in the competitive Chicago restaurant market for more than 20 years. If you like traditional Italian served in a warm, very friendly environment, this place is for you! The tiny cave-like bar is tremendously inviting if you're lucky enough to score a spot. Drinks are perfectly prepared and creatively served. Wine list is as would be expected - something for every budget. Menu changes occasionally but you will easily find your favorites. Every dish we've tried was beautifully presented and well prepared. The standouts are the appetizers - the most tender meatball you will ever taste comes out of this tiny kitchen! The desserts are exceptional - the creme brule is the best we have ever had. Decor shows its age, but to us, that was part of the charm. The manager is friendly - let's be honest, he's quirky - but you will enjoy the show! The head chef is very young but don't let that dissuade you - he's found a way to be fresh and innovative without being disrespectful to the Italian cuisine tradition. Appropriately dim for date night, quiet enough for a casual business meeting - and known for brunch in a town that considers brunch a religion. You won't be disappointed!

Best pasta outside Italy!

By Lorenzo el Jefe |

Momma had the right recipes. Somebody listened correctly. Wing Commander and Nancy never do Italian out of the homeland. Best pasta yet! Dalton, our wise young server, guided us through the menu and specials. Dalton went further with a superb wine suggestion. A super server is attentive to the service but most important asks for feedback. Thanks Dalton. Thank you Momma.

Authentic and quaint atmosphere

By downtime40 |

My daughter and I loved the food. The rigatoni bolognese was very tasty. The bread and olive oil complimented the meal nicely. We enjoyed being able to linger and talk, rather than rushing through the meal. Great neighborhood place to catch up.

As Always, very nice

By John M |

This is a comfortable place. Not fancy. Reasonably priced. The food and service are good...I've gone there many times, and never been disappointed...An extensive menu. Warm and friendly....

Authentic Italian with Style

By mcreashlaw |

Go for the food. The food is fantastic and for-real Italian. It was small and crowded and noisy - just like your grandmother's house. Make a reservation. Brunch is served on Sunday mornings, but get there early because there's always a line.

Good food and service

By TribTraveler |

This is a great cozy restaurant. Very local and intimate. My husband and I both had the butternut squash ravioli. It was delicious. We also has the bread pudding for dessert. Monday nights is 1/2 price wine bottles.

Great food and close to Majestic Hotel

By ohallen1005 |

This is the second time we have eaten at Angelina's. We chose this resurant the first time because it is close to The Majestic Hotel when we are going to a Cub's game for an overnight stay. This will be an anual trip and the food is great. The liguine with clam sauce had probable 15 to 20 baby clams in the shell in it and the bread served with a meal large and warm. We'll be back for the next Cub game and stay at the Majestic.

wonderful menu

By penne s |

This is a small but very good Italian restaurant right on Broadway in Lake View. It has a real European feel to it and the service is excellent.

Very good Italian

By David M |

A friend and I are visiting Chicago and a mutual friend recommended Angelina's, one of his favorites in his neighborhood. The only reason I gave Angelina's four stars and not five was the fact I had only visited it once and had only one meal there. i feel I need to be more confident about consistency before a place gets five stars. But that should not short Angelina;s at all. We started our meal with Caesar salads, which had anchovies (which we both like) and which tasted very fresh, with fresh ingredients throughout. We each also had a glass of wine, a pinot girigio and a chianti and all were very good. My friend chose a ravioli entree in which the pasta was filled with braised veal and whose sauce was made up of mushrooms and caramelized onions and I chose an eggplant parmigiana. Both were delicious, very fresh and bright, with a lot of nice flavor. The eggplant was crisp and not soggy and the ravioli flavor was nuanced and really subtle but good. I also had a side of the garlic sauteed spinach that was also very fresh and was sauteed just the right amount. We ended the meal with black raspberry sorbet and a pair of cordials, an ice wine and a Frangelico.. All were good. A word needs to be said about the service, which was prompt, efficient, generous and engaged without unction. All our water glasses were kept full, our empty plates removed swiftly and quietly and our questions answered truthfully and completely. So, downsides. All this was terrific but does not come without some expense. The Caesar salads were good but maybe a little small for $9. The entrees felt very worth it, but maybe cost conscious diners might keep an even closer eye on the alcohol or extras. But all in all, definitely left the table feeling like we had a very good meal and feel comfortable recommending Angelina Ristorante to other travelers.

Would have loved to try this

By michelle r |

We tried to have brunch, but they only take cash and no checks on the Sunday morning we visited. Confirm this when you enter, not after you've waited 15 minutes for the host to come out of the office. Food looked great!

Pasta made from scratch & spumoni out of this world

By David H |

My wife and I were in the Chicago area visiting relatives. So we swung by Angelina's--where we had been 5 years ago. It was still quite good. Both of us had insulate boca--pear salad with gorgonzola, walnuts, and vinaigrette. While my wife ordered home-made baked penna with bolognese sauce, I ordered Wild Mushroom sauce with fettuccine. And for dessert, I picked gelato di spumoni--with chocolate, cherries, and pistachio nuts. The food was quite delicious and thoughtfully prepared. It is a bit expensive, but , in this case, you pay for what you get. Try it some time and let me know what you think!

Intimate charming Italian - yummy food

By PatienceWonderful |

This restaurant seemed to collect a reasonably well-heeled crowd of all ages who probably know their Italian food. Charming decor, great service and wonderful food - small bar in the back with 4-5 seats?? to get a drink before dinner. Should make reservations - maybe sat 40-50 total?

Such Great Food!

By morningcain26 |

the Best Eggplant Parmigiana I've ever had! Plus the desserts were amazing - Chocolate Bread Pudding and Chocolate Creme Brulee

Food was OK staff were very Friendly

By Arthur225NYC |

All 4 of us ate pasta and I must admit my dish was just ok. We sat outside, the weather was beautiful. The bread was amazing! Wait staff were attentive and friendly.

Almost good

By Vinicius B |

Although the first impression is good, the disappointments arrive. Aperol spritz small, hot red wine and served in a glass of water, cacio and unbalanced pepper. Positive point for the mushrooms in red sauce and the service of the waiters. But the biggest disappointment was the diselegance and confusion when charging the drawer and the rush to loosen the table for new customers.

Amazing!

By Daisy3421 |

We went for a late dinner and they accommodated us even though they were about to close. So glad they did! We promptly ordered - the mussels were perfect, we asked for 1/2 orders of pasta since we were visiting from out of town, to-go bags weren’t an option for us. The portions that way were just right. The bread and olive oil were so yummy and service was delightful, thanks Haley! Wish we were closer we would be back!

Great Local Italian Place

By bcsystems |

Really enjoyed this local Italian place. The food was authentic tasting and great service. The sauteed squid was delicious. The Gnocchi was soft and a very large portion of the veal. Home made good stuff!

Freshly Made Pasta

By jmontel99 |

You can really tell the difference from freshly made Pasta and the Stuff that comes in a box! We were there Saturday night and had three great meals that we all shared. I had the vegetable Lasagna with meat sauce, my wife had the Pollo Angelina and my daughter had the Fettuccine Primavera. All three meals were Delicious and we will be back.

Great service, great food, excellent wine list, nice atmosphere

By Bruce B |

It had been a long day in Chicago when, on a whim, we decided to drop in for a bite with no reservation. It was a busy Friday night, but they still managed to make room for us in short order. We were nicely greeted and treated to water and bread, which was awesome. As I scanned the menu, I did notice the wine list which was well constructed and had many favorites on it. I ultimately decided on a pasta dish which did not disappoint. The portion was of adequate size, and was well prepared with excellent ingredients. I'll look forward to going back here, especially as it is just about across the street from my daughter's apartment in a very safe neighborhood in Lakeview. It also reminds me of an Italian restaurant in our hometown of Concord NH which, surprisingly, is also excellent, and is named "Angelinas". More on that in another review!

All About the Brunch!

By Jordan T |

This place is one of the best brunch spots in all of Chicago. The mimosas don’t stop coming! I recommend the pasta with white sauce and ham!

Nice Lakeview/Wrigleyville restaurant

By Russ and Ann A |

Excellent small Italian restaurant, reminded us of Italy. The wine selection was great, the food was excellent, we had a pasta and risotto. Both excellent.

Intimate and Authentic

By LUchicago |

This is a small, intimate, neighborhood restaurant with an old world feel, complete with a tiny, hexagon tile floor, white table cloths and two choice window tables. In addition, the food and service is exceptional and it is in a great location to enjoy a couple landmark sights within walking distance. The 1914 Tilt Mansion, now the Booth Manor which houses the Salvation Army college for Officer Training, is directly across the street and the exterior is worth viewing. It is not open regularly for tours. Also, the Lakeview Presbyterian church is directly north across from the mansion and has a unique wooden shingle exterior. The interior is lovely with brilliant stain glass windows. Angelina's offers a diverse menu but specializes in Italian food. One special of the day was a delicious pasta, with sausage and a rich, deep red gravy. Another choice, the duck breast was tender, served with a port wine sauce and the server easily substituted an extra large serving of roasted brussel sprouts instead of the mashed potatoes. The insalata bosco was large enough to split. It was fresh and the dressing complimented the sweetness of the pears. The house merlot was very nice and the coffee rich and smooth. Our experience was very good, and would have received an excellent rating if we weren't distracted by the floor being wet mopped (twice) while we ate our salad, and several tables repeatedly being dragged together and set up. The odor and the noise was not pleasant. We did arrive just as the restaurant opened and were rewarded with a lovely window table, but it appears the establishment wasn't quiet ready to receive guests.

Tasty Italian food in Lakeview

By LHA2013 |

We had a family dinner at Angelina's and everyone enjoyed their food. The atmosphere was nice and a little on the formal side but not stuffy. Service was proficient. My complaint was that everything was a la carte, so you had to order a vegetable or salad or just settle for an entree with no side dishes. This made dinner pretty expensive. Drinks from the bar were mediocre, which is too bad in a nice restaurant. So, nice atmosphere and very nice entrees with a few shortcomings.

A great find in Chicago neighborhood

By Curt805 |

Angelina’s is a great little restaurant serving classical Italian food. The drinks from their small bar were great and I love the way they serve wine in small cups. They even welcomed us with complementary white wine. The calamari appetizer was fantastic as was the linguini de mare. It was a Friday night and every table was taken right up to 9:00 so make a reservation.

Blah

By Foodie |

The ambiance was so inviting and romantic at that. The food and service however left a great deal to be desired. Including the host/server in a t-shirt and apron. We did learn from him that there were new items on the menu. I found this out when I asked about an entree and he couldn’t tell me about it. Argh…. The mussels appetizer was bland… the salmon was dry and the chicken dish was hohum. It was pricy for the area and especially for nothing special. Our waiter never showed up to ask if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything. Well… I don’t need to go back to this place.

many many times

By Camilla855 |

We love Angelina's. The staff is great and fun and professional, the locale is so Chicago, and the ambiance...so welcoming. Well, then there is the food. Go for your waitstaff's recommendation, or choose something that looks delicious to you. We have never gone wrong. Ask for a window table. Chat with the waiter and the bar staff. Face it, there isn't all that much to rejoice about today, so fling today's news aside and have a good meal.

Sunday Brunch, Noisy, Crowded, and Lack of Flavor

By Texas_Travel_1 |

What should have been a Sunday Brunch was closer to a loud Saturday night at the bar. The Crowd seated and standing was elbow to elbow. Service was weak. Due to crowd, the servers could not do their job. Still, wait staff and bartenders did not show any cheer or willfulness to serve their customers. My $10 French toast lacked any unique flavor and texture. Bacon side at $4 was not crisp and a bit on the fatty side for bacon. The $3 Coke did not include a refill. If I am in Chicago again, I will try somewhere else.

Great Italian Food

By Paul M |

Extremely knowlegeable staff. Absolutely the best Italian food we have ever had.- Pasta cooked perfectly, Imaginative and tasteful salads. A good balance of cheeses used in their dishes.

Favorite Italian Restaurant in Chicago!

By Glenn B |

We came across Angelina's a few years ago while staying at the nearby Majestic Hotel. No matter where we travel, we always end up find Italian restaurants and the friendly hotel staff assured us this was the place to go. Angelina's is a small place (you definitely want reservations) and exudes authentic Italian charm. More importantly, every time we've been here the food has been outstanding. You'll find a few, really good options. Everything is fresh. The soups and salads are more than just something to get your started. The service is as good as the food and drink. Don't hesitate to ask the servers for suggestions or advice. And all for a very reasonable cost! If we are in Chicago and anywhere near this Broadway and Addison location, I assure we'll be eating here.

Wonderful evening

By Eric-Jan W |

Located in one of Chicago's liveliest neighborhoods, Angelina has always been a Chicago favorite of mine. The service is attentive and personal, the wines are great, and the food is authentic. I recommend the pollo Angelina -- it also comes with a tasty chorizo sausage. We were so full we did not order dessert. The restaurant is a short walk from the Belmont or Addison CTA red line stops. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner.

I Keep Coming Back!

By yolos |

I have dinner at Angelina Ristorante every time I visit Chicago. It has become "the place" where my daughter and I go to celebrate. This neighborhood eatery serves classic Italian fare in an Old World decor. The food is excellent as is the service and they offer an extensive wine list. Each visit, we start our meal sharing the bruschetta, followed by the Insalata Bosco with pears, walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese. Our favorite entrees are the ravioli, 4 cheese gnocci or the garganelli w/ peas & pancetta.Dessert is always the vanilla creme brule w/ berries. We love this restaurant!

Romantic Date Night in Lakeview

By Sarah W |

Angelina occupies a very unique space that has a traditional Italian feel. The staff is incredibly hospitable and the frequently changing menu will bring you the most indulgent flavors in the pastas and entree plates. This is our go to neighborhood date night spot to enjoy some of the best Italian cuisine in the city.

More than just geese in the window

By David S |

It's easy to remember this place as the restaurant that has geese figurines in the window (Penguins in the winter), but it's also got great food. I particularly recommend the lasagna; the gnocchi are also quite good if you like gnocchi. I called in advance and asked them to bring a note to my wife for our anniversary and they were very good about this. We also were able to bring our baby in a stroller without a problem at 5 PM.

Great find

By Peter B |

Came across this restaurant by accident, we enjoyed mouth watering starters and mains which were cooked in a traditional Italian way. Well worth a visit, a very busy restaurant.

Food was Lucious!

By Jean C |

Oh my the fresh pasta.....I had the Verdure Lasagne and we split the salad. Partner had the cappalini. We were both in heaven with the lovely feel of the pasta. And the tomato sauce with the lasagne was perfect simple flavor. We will go back. The ambiance is small local restaurant. We sat in the window and quite romantic!

A rushed brunch.

By WeeklyFlyer773 |

While popular, there is no doubt that management wants you out of your table nearly as soon as you sit down. Food was average brunch fare but what shocked us was the following: We both told our server that we were going to use the restroom and we asked him to please make sure that they didn't clean our table. We returned to a cleared table. We had not finished our brunch nor our drinks. The server suggested we talked to the manager. The manager said it was our fault for leaving the table even though we explained to our server that we would be right back to the table. No apology was offered. We asked about our food and drink and he told us we could order something else but would have to pay for it. ???? I was shocked. I don't have any desire to ever dine there again.

Champagne Brunch

By Roma M |

Great place to people watch at an outside table. Wonderful champagne brunch! All the champagne you want and any item off the menu. The Salmon Eggs Benedict were divine and so was our server, Brian.

Fun and delicious!

By Saranicole0124 |

Sunday mimosa brunch was FABULOUS! We did wait for about 30 minutes, however we had a large table. The food was amazing! Try the French Toast! 21$ for one of the brunch items and unlimited Mimosas, well worth the wait! Staff was great, actually our server was quite astonishing! Watching her weave in and out of a literally packed place without missing a beat was impressive!

Best Mussels!

By Acacia K |

Angelina Restaurant has the best, freshest mussels! The sauce is divine and if you order the pasta frutti de mare you will not be dissapointed. The chianti was delicious and the ceasar salad with the fresh anchovies was terrific. A must visit restaurant with great atmosphere. My husband and I cant wait for our trip to Tuscany this summer.

Brunch With Gal Pals

By runhappy2016 |

My friends introduced me to Angelina's. It was a small, cozy brunch spot on a freezing Chicago morning. Parties cannot be seated until everyone in the party has arrived. Understandable since the place fills up fast. Our waiter was prompt and answered all questions. The champagne mimosa was refreshing. Because we had a lot more walking to do, I opted for one at $5 rather than the unlimited mimosas with one menu item ($23). I don't think there was much champagne in the drink, however. I ordered the salmon eggs Benedict. It came with potatoes cut in bite size chunks. The food was tasty but cold. I didn't bother to ask for it to be reheated. My friends had no issue with their meals. We sat and talked for some time after paying our bills until we realized others would probably want to be seated! The wait staff did not try to push us out, which was nice. I plan on returning to Angelina's.

Very good white tablecloth Italian.

By Daniel R |

The restaurant is excellent. The wine list is good. The pasta was great. The sauce was excellent. We enjoyed our meal and will return.

High Hopes Not Quite Matched

By Bob C |

The restaurant is very charming, even romantic, and we were looking forward to our visit. The service was good but the food was not as ggod as we thought it might be. It was good but not as flavorful or seemingly as authentic as we were expecting. Net net we were mildly disappointed though to be fair we had very high expectations going in.

Love this place! My new favorite!

By Amy S |

We have passed this restaurant many times on our way to a cubs game and always wanted to try it. Last night we were able to go and we have found a new favorite place. The atmosphere is cozy and food was delicious. Phillip was delightful as he gave us the specials of the day. I had a shrimp dish with a spicy sauce - that was amazing, and then I tried my husbands gnocchi (made from ricotta) with a creamy, tomato sauce that was out of this world. We enjoyed the antipasto dish before our meal and had the caprese salad, too and both were delicious. We had the creme brûlée for dessert and again, I am not sure I have had any better than that one.

You've Got Me at the Bread

By John G |

I see this is my four th h review of this fine restaurant. And yes, the warm welcome, the warm bread and rich olive oil set the tone. A fine bottle of mentepulciano to tantalize the taste buds. Have I mentioned the antipasti? The parmigiano is my favorite but nothing was left on the plate... all so yummy! The lettuce in the Caesar was so sweet ! (We shared) and the dressing tingled the tongue! And what's Italian without meatballs? Veal and pork in a great sauce and plenty of melted and cheese. Then there is the garganelli piselli and Pancetta... another split. OMG the flavors titillate. Did I talk about the creamy, cheesey sauces? We ran out of stomach before we ran out of menu! Relax... enjoy... and repeat!

Unexpected pleasure

By Roel G |

We were not really looking to eat here, but we were glad to end up in Angelina anyway. Lovely old interior, chairs seen to fall apart the next couple of minutes, but they probably will last a lifetime. We had the primo pasta puttanegra en secundo salmon and these dishes were delicious. Complimentary fresh white bread is offered too and I git a Coke on the house. If they keep the kitchen door more closed and/or the cooks won't play with their telephones in sight, the place gets even better.

Angelina Ristorante made our wedding the best

By Kimberly K |

Phillip and his merry band of friends topped off our wedding in the BEST way. Got married at the totem pole then were greeted by a happy smiling young man that Phillip sent to greet us..He led our parade over to the rest. a short walk away... First major smile..then we entered into the beautiful restaurant to be greeted by all the staff then led to "our room". We were so pleased by the special touches like a picture of us by the table. A table already set up for our gifts and our own room. Second major smile was the amazing food. We had chosen a few dishes ahead of time and Phillip even made some special dishes for our friends that had requests. We drank really good wine and ate the BEST Italian food I have ever had. Seriously...Some of our friends said the same thing. Angelina Ristorante topped off our amazing day and was everything we had hoped for.

Yummmm

By JenDevine |

The food and service were both amazing! If you are staying at the Majestic you get a free appetizer and Monday night is 1/2 off bottle night for all wine listed on the menu!

Highly recommended

By ilfd |

Arrived early for dinner was seated immediately. Warm fresh bread and grated parmesan to start the meal. Our server was on top of his game this evening for the meal. We waited for nothing. We split a ceasar salad and a bowl of their white bean soup. Both were excellent I believe the ceasar dressing was home made it was excellent not over powering like some ceasar dressings at other places. The main entrees arrived fresh and hot. This was our first time here after a recommendation from both family and our hotel. The restaurant was only 2 rooms so you could actually have a conversation. On our arrival there was only a few people here enjoying dinner. Upon completion of our meal every table was full and it seemed to be a local favorite since it appeared a lot of the people were on a first name basis with the staff. We will be back. Highly recommended!!!

Love the food..love the "feel"

By Willy6452 |

Dined here by recommendation from a hotel. The atmosphere was the best...small, unhurried yet efficient, soft lighting..a true step away from the hustle bustle of a city.

The most incredible wedding

By Jonathon G |

After 30 years together my partner and I decided to get married. I had eatten at and known Angelina's in Chicago for years. The manager of the restaurant Philip is a good frien and when he told me he got his license to marry people on line I decided ot have the wedding there. We had 44 people on a Sunday evening of a 3 day weekend. Philip and the staff out did them selves . They created a room for the ceremony that allowed everyone ot sit down and hear the wonderful service by Philip( in mad hatter costume) and our Vows. After the ceremony we step outside for a Champagne toast. While we went out side the staff efficiently set up the dinning room to accomodate everyone. The food was spectacular and the service matched. The wine drinks and Champagne were perfect. They accomodated a cake and cupcakes borught in by a good friend. Every single person who attended this event told me it was the best wedding they have ever been to. I have to give Philip and the wait staff and cooks of Angelina's alot of the credit.

good food but rushed

By wearyTraveller50 |

food was tasty and appreciated. we had asked waiter to not serve main course before our salad had finished. alas, that did not happen. Don't order main until after salads are finished!

Really Nice Meal!

By Joni S |

A wonderful little neighborhood restaurant with Italian fare! We had a great table sitting in the window and watched the world go by. Very comfortable, very informal with very good food and good service. We split the soft shell crab appetizer and it was excellent. I had eggplant which is my fave and it did not disappoint. My honey had the short ribs and garlic mashed and he really enjoyed it. They have outdoor seating in the summer. Weekends are super crowded but if you call ahead they will take a reservation.

A dying breed: independent neighborhood restaurant

By VAHOME |

Wonderful European ambience; neighborhood diners; excellent food; moderate prices given the area. Friendly service, good wine, comped the dessert when we told them the hotel sent us.

Angelina's was wonderful. We ate here every night we stayed in this location in Chicago!

By Monaco-Keller |

Wonderful food and service. A landmark for many years. The real story we heard from an old friend cab driver. Charming.

Quaint italian in the middle of Chicago

By NDMorrison06 |

We went on a Tuesday and it wasnt too busy, but we had a reservation. We sat outside and it wasnt too close to traffic but it was noticeable. Food was great - bruschetta is not the normal youd expect but still quite good. I had chicken pasta something and it had a little spice - was excellent. My only complaint is that the menu on their website was quite different than the one they handed us when we sat down. I was really looking forward to Veal or Chicken Marsala!

Lovely Dinner, and great food...

By wanderingaussie |

Was recently in Chicago visiting a friend of mine. He suggested we go here for dinner. It was the first of the really cold weather in November, and first night of snow. The staff were fantastic, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff make sure you feel very welcome. The food was lovely, right from the Appetisers, through to Desert. It was so yummy. A good wine list, and the other patrons all looked like they were having a great time. I would happily go back.

A Sidewalk Summer Feast

By Dan Sullivan |

I dined here recently with my partner. We sat at a cozy wooden table in a sort of fenced alcove on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. The night was beautiful, cool but summery. The staff were very pleasant. We split an appetizer of calamari, an entree of rigatoni, and an excellent bottle of red wine. A bit of iced limoncello added to the charm of the evening. I hope to return there for the weekend brunch, as I hear that it, too, is excellent (and popular).

Nice neighborhood place

By BorderCollieFans |

It was a windy evening in the Windy City, and I was waking past Angelina's and decided to duck in for an early dinner and wait out the bad weather. Very pleasant surprise. It's cramped, that's true, but there is a very friendly vibe from the host and from the servers, and several of the patrons seemed to be regulars, from their banter with the waiters. As you would expect from the name, the cuisine is predominantly Italian and Italian-America, with lots of pasta dishes. I had fresh asparagus soup (the night's special soup), which was excellent: strong flavor and just a touch of creaminess. The cheese ravioli with shrimp were done perfectly, with a light pesto sauce. This was more than enough food, so I didn't attempt a dessert. I am not sure that this is a place you'd travel far to go to, but if you are in the general area, it is a wonderful choice.

Wrigleyville Neighborhood Find

Made reservations in advance as we were attending a baseball game that weekend. My husband had eaten dinner here years ago and wanted to give this local eatery a try again. Greeted by the owner when we arrived and seated in a lovely intimate table by the window. Food was good and huge portions to take home.

Charming restaurant

This is a charming restaurant in the Windy City, with delicious Italian foods and good wines. Excellent service.

Branzino!!

By ChiGuyJon |

I visited with a group of 8 and our server was excellent, took great care of us. I ordered the Branzino which was VERY DELICIOUS! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the dessert list passed around and the sherbet was a perfect end to the meal. We had a wonderful time, I will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

Popular place, a very busy Monday night

By Lauren G |

Arrived for an early dinner, staff seemed to be training a few servers. Place quickly fills up with guests. Ceasar salad exceptional. Menu interesting especially the pizzas. Pasta dishes ordinary. Gluten free menu available.

Great Restaurant

By Luke H |

This is an awesome local Itl. restaurant ... their brunch and diner are just outstanding .. the staff is very friendly and willing to help out with any questions... they keep the mimosa pouring and the good times coming ..

Awesome Dinner

By HoosierWisdom |

We found this place on Trip Advisor and are glad we did. The brushetta was light and flavorful, the pastas were covered in complex sauces and (how we did it, I do not know!). a great creme brulee. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was quiet but not stuffy. We will be back.

Nice people, fine service AND very good dinner!

This small storefront Italian restaurant does it right- including atmosphere, friendliness and menu. We are delighted to add it to our list!

Our first meal in Chicago

By Latinacowgirl |

After reading the great reviews I made sure I took my dad here for dinner. We arrived at 5 when they opened and were immediately seated. I had the vegetable lasagna with the meat sauce and my dad had the baked penne and they were both amazing. The portions are very large and filling. I had the tiramisu for desert and was in heaven. The service was exceptional and I would go again. This would be a great place for date night if you lived in Chicago. We had a great table in the front window. Great Italian food in Chicago.

Great food

By Ryan B |

The quality of the food is very good. The service was great, and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic. The only thing I would say that needs improvement is the size of the bruschetta. It tastes great, but is very small. The entrees, on the other hand, are plentiful.

Amazing

By Paola O |

This restaurant was just amazing. The food was delicious, the server(Kipp) was great and the place was lovely. Would definitely recommend it.

Cozy neighborhood place with tasty food

By csgc |

I ordered the duck which was rich and luscious. My companion ordered the trout and was happy with her choice. The service was attentive and friendly. We went on a Friday night and the place was packed by 7:30. Definitely get a reservation. Definitely avoid taking a car. There is no nearby parking so I took a cab.

Very good food, but a little expensive for pasta dishes in this area of the city. The potions could be bigger for the price. Very cozy place for a date.

Creative Food, Great Atmosphere!

By yolos |

My daughter and I stumbled across Angelina Ristorante on a freezing night in Chicago after the restaurant we planned to eat in had a "Closed - Broken Pipe" sign on the door. I am so glad we did. The restaurant is small and cozy. Our waiter, Peter, was most helpful in suggesting a wine and was very knowledgable about each item on the menu. The Insalata Bosco was delicious; baby greens, pears, walnuts, gorgonzola cheese with a honey balsamic dressing. I liked it better than my Caprese; Roma tomatoes with fresh basil and mozzarella - but then give me fresh summer tomatoes or nothing! My daughter loved her ravioli special (spinach and ricotta) and I thought my Garganelli Piselli & Pancetta was absolutely wonderful. What is it about any type of bacon (pancetta) that makes a dish so great? The portion was too large for me but my daughter reaped the rewards with a to-go box. The chocolate bread pudding was served warm with ice cream. As we shared a serving I kept wondering,"how can I eat this I am so full? With a bottle of wine, the check was around $100. I will return to Angelina Ristorante again on purpose. We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

There are MUCH better options

By JC_chgo |

There are MUCH better choices for Italian food in Boystown. 1- Service is spotty at BEST, often it's pretty terrible. 2- the food is CRAZY salty. Don't know what the chefs are thinking. 3- OVERPRICED; especially for the portion sizes. You won't be having leftovers tomorrow. They do have some good specials, but again, overpriced ($18-22 for pasta). Don't even think about a bottle of wine- it's ludicrous. MANY better choices- Panino's, Taverna 750, Mia Francesca, Socca, Tutto Fresco, etc. I'll only go here when friends insist; if I have a choice, I'll go elsewhere. The one thing I like is the decor, but the tables are so close you'll literally be bumping elbows.

decent

By Schranzettina |

food is decent, I went there twice with a friend of mine and I had no complaints. I only got a caprese salad and a soup both times though, so i don't really know how they make pasta or anything else. But what I had was good. I usually go there for a light meal and it's also close to where i live, so it's convenient

Glad I went!

By flyairdave |

I've lived in Lakeview for a few months now and I finally tried Angelina and I am happy I did. When you go in the restaurant is dark. It reminds me of Italian restaurants in Europe. We were greeted and seated quickly. I did make a reservation and was quite busy for a Wednesday. Our server appeared right away and was very friendly. My friend could not decide which bottle of wine to order so the server brought over a small taste of the two and we then ordered one of them. I did find the glasses the wine is served in a little strange, but... We ordered two starters and they were both great. The meatballs were yummy! The pasta entrees were very well done. I will be going back soon!

Simply Wonderful!

Husband and I came here to celebrate our 20 wedding anniversary and I could not have been more pleased! This is a very cozy and intimate place with some of the best Italian food & wine I have ever had! If you come here you will not be disappointed.

Quaint neighborhood classic Italian restaurant

By Dianne1228 |

The ambiance and coziness of this small restaurant added a lot of charm but the food was average. Our server provided good information in helping us choose a wine and the bottle we chose was very enjoyable. My husband and I shared the Sicilian Calamari appetizer which was a generous portion but the calamari was quite chewy. They are very flexible on what pasta to have with entrees and I combined the meatball appetizer with the pasta pomodoro. The portion of pasta was huge and the meatballs were good but not really memorable. My husband had the Linguine Frutta di Mare that was also suitable but not remarkable. We may return sometime but with so many Italian restaurants in Chicago, it may be awhile until we do. The menu on Trip Advisor is outdated so be sure to check out their website menu instead.

Authentic Italian Food & Atmosphere

By Bryan P |

Great little location near Wrigleyville area. We were in town for a Cubs game and in the mood for Italian. We found this place and were not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They split our salad for us and checked up appropriately. The food was authentic Italian, which was very good. The only criticism was that the menu is a bit small, but I found several dishes that I would have tried. I would return when in the area again.

an all-time favorite

By BCtravelz |

Lived down the street for years and enjoyed so many great meals here. Great pasta (recommend linguini mare), creamy polenta, and one of my favorite desserts of all time -- the Chocolate Break pudding. This is a small venue--parties larger than 4-5 people will find it difficult to get seated. Great for couples, dates, etc.

Sunday Brunch. Noisy. Crazy. Great.

By CambridgeBen |

We'd just walked from Belmont Harbor after some sailing and happened upon Angelina. We had no idea Sunday Brunch was a particular feature of Angelina but for $23 you get as much Memosa as you can drink and a dish of your choice. I had delicious freshly made pasta (everyone else had good brunchy type stuff). It's a fun, friendly atmosphere. Noisy. Very noisy music but it worked - we really enjoyed the plastic geese too. One of the better and more 'real' places I've visited in Chicago and really not that far from downtown.

A perfect evening!

By imyours12 |

Had a wonderful dinner! It was a perfect place for a our date night. Excellent food, music and ambience. Next time we are in Chicago we are going back. Thank you!

Great food and service

By Bob C |

I had dinner here with my daughter while on a college trip. The food was outstanding and the service friendly and quick. I'd recommend this place for family or business.

Great family owned and managed Italian restaurant

By Steve F |

Angelinas has been one of our favorites for two decades. We moved from Lakeview/Wrigleyville 25 years ago and still visit this iconic family restaurant. We enjoy seeing Phillip and Maria and the other servers are always top notch. The food is solid and prepared with love. The value is not what it once was but most establishments are similar.

Great dinner

By Stephanie B |

The minestrone soup was wonderful as were the pasta dishes. We enjoyed the food, and attentive service so much we ate here twice in the 5 days we were in Chicago.

Dinner Italiano

By FeFe C |

Great place to dine. Good food great drinks Rosalie the bar tender is the best great jokes attitude smile loved her me and my girl freinds will go back there. Philip and the waitress was great also.

Homecooked Italian

By Robert P |

I love coming here mainly because of the food, it's sooo good. The ambiance here is great, it feels like your dining in a authentic Italian kitchen. I'm addicted to the gnocchi here, it is the best and they make it from scratch. I usually just come for dinner, but If you somehow have room for desert, try the tiramisu and if your looking to impress a lady this is the perfect place to take her for a casual evening.

Great Local Itaian

By RobBflo1 |

Have been to this restaurant two times and the prices are fair and the services is GREAT! Ate outside both times and while the tables are small the street traffic is entertaining

Date night

By CFlo1 |

Located a stone's throw from Wrigley field, Angelina is definitely a find! From start to finish, we had a terrific time and a equally wonderful meal. We arrived early in the dinner hour and were offered a window table which made for fun people watching. We started with a nice glass of chianti recommended by our waiter. Our salad was a split dish of their insalata bosco which was mixed baby greens, pear slices, walnuts, Gorgonzola cheese and a delicious balsamic vinaigrette. Our main courses were the special of day, an Italian meatloaf (pork, veal and beef combo) with a flavorful tomato sauce and mashed potatoes; and the garganelli piselli and panchetta-a smokey dish of homemade penne, pancetta, peas and Parmesan. Tiramisu finished the meal perfectly! A lovely location, perfect meal and wonderful wait staff!

Lakeview Neighborhood Delicious

By Mike K |

Pros: Very good food such as the pork saltimbocca and gazpacho soup. Flavors were absolutely the best! The spumoni gelato was fantastic and refreshing. Nice waitstaff. Cons: $9 for a VERY small glass of wine; items listed with the entree were switched without telling the customer; back bar area as a hangout for the staff gets noisy. Small dining area and not overly stimulating, but clean. It seems that they want to be one of the better dining venues and really, the food is so good that they could be, but clean up the chatter in back (you can hear this all the way to the front) and if you are going to substitute something in the presentation, then tell the customer!

Poor

Please don't pend money on this place when Shiparo at O'Hare and midway several better food . There are enough hundreds of better places in chicago

Never would go back again.

By Emanuel B |

We were not completely done with our drinks and the owner of the restaurant pulled the table said that were done. The restaurant is not worthand we will re no longer going back to this restaurant. The food might be good but the managemeng is very poor.... They have just lost a customer........NO wonder people does not go there meaning thier regular customer. We do not recomment this restaurant to any body.........

A bad night for this place

By richard b |

Don’t know to write this review tonight. The experience was awful but service and food were good. This an unassuming little gem in Chicago. They have one of the best Caesar salads around. I ordered the rigatoni Bolognese which is also a favorite of mine. They tried to serve me my pasta while I was still eating my salad. I refused it. They later tried to serve me the same pasta like warm. I refused it. Stubborn cook gave it a quick sauté so it would be served hot. I know this because it was Luke warm again within 5 minutes. You decide if you want to try. Whatever cook they were using tonight has no business in the restaurant industry. I will be back but not for a long bit

Bottomless Mimosa Brunch!

By Scott J |

Really great little place near boystown. Went for brunch on a sunday with a group of friends. Everyones food was great and the Mimosas are bottomless to help you get over your saturday night - more places in the UK need to do this. You can sit outside too which we did however it started raining. The staff were extremely helpful and tried at first to cover us with umbrellas before finding us a table inside.

Great Brunch!

By saramcg24 |

I'll be honest - when I came here while visiting friends in Chicago, I didn't have high hopes for the food or the atmosphere. We knew why we were here and it was more for the bottomless mimosas than anything else. I never have high hopes for service at a bottomless brunch. Imagine my surprise when we entered this completely charming restaurant, with great service, great food, and very bottomless mimosas. As a frequent bottomless bruncher, I can say that this one was superb. The food was surprisingly good, and even after we finished eating, they kept bringing us drinks. If you want a great brunch for a great value, go here immediately.

Wonderful family small quiet Italian restaurant safe neighborhood. Easy walk from hotel. Exceptional service.

A little gem--wonderful neighborhood

By Leslie S |

We dined at Angelina twice during our week-long stay in Chicago. It is within a short walking distance from the Majestic Hotel. The Lakeview neighborhood is clean, friendly, and safe. The first night, bottles of wine were half off! They had a nice, reasonably-priced selection. The food was so good, the pasta must have been made fresh. Portions were large--especially for the prices. Ask about week night specials--they have some excellent deals. The table olive oil was some of the best I've ever had--green, fruity, delicious. Service was friendly, not pushy, the atmosphere was relaxed and could be an excellent date night place. We took our friends with us later, and they agreed--excellent. The gelato and sorbet are also very good!

Neighborhood Staple

By Ronald J B |

Sadly, just average with high points and low points. High point was the calamari siciliano. Nicely done and super tasty. The bread served was not warmed, too soft, and cut in very large pieces. Olive oil was well flavored, and freshly-shaved Parmesan was superb (but I had to ask for the cheese). Montepulciano d’Abruzzo was poor, perhaps old or not properly stored. Veal Marsala was nicely prepared, with plenty of fresh crimini mushrooms, but on the sweet side. Will absolutely patronize again, but will be more insistent on bread and wine, and ask about tartness of dishes. Wait staff is helpful and seasoned.

Cozy romantic and authentic

By Hernan1 |

The food was great with very authentic Italian. Fast service and very cozy. Extensive wine list. Reasonable prices.good location.

Chef's table feel

By HoosierWisdom |

I came solo and asked the waiter for a dinner that would tell me I have been to Angelina's. It was amazing. Chilled soup with shrimp and avocado, salad in vinaigrette, amazing bread, beef tenderloin tornado's with fresh green beans and garlic mashed potatoes, tirimasu dessert, red wine and espresso aplenty. It was awesome

Great Find in the Neighborhood!

By 1Happytraveler1USA |

During our last trip to Chicago my wife and I joined a friend for dinner at Angelina’s at 3561 North Broadway. It was a first visit for all of us, but it certainly won’t be our last. We went for an early dinner at five when they open because we were flying back home that night so it was very easy to get a table. We were looking over the menus when what appeared to be half a loaf of Italian bread was brought to the table. In addition to the olive oil on the table we were offered crushed red pepper and freshly grated cheese to go along with the bread. Wine choices ran the full range of domestic and Italian whites and reds. All wines were offered both by the glass and bottle so we asked our server, Haley, for a taste of the La Valentina Montepulciano. We were very pleased with it and ordered a bottle knowing that it would pair nicely with our dinner choices. Although we didn’t order any antipasti or insalata, the choices are what you would expect with the Calamari Siciliana and the Cozze Bianco looking like the two we would normally go for. For our entrées we had the following: Garganelli Piselli and Pancetta that is fresh hand rolled penne with crispy pancetta, peas, and a parmesan cream sauce Rigatoni Bolognese that is braised pork and veal shoulder in a red wine pomodoro sauce. This is not your normal ground meat sauce – it is chunks of pork and veal and plenty of it! Eggplant Parmesan served with eggplant that had a nice crunch even under the fresh mozzarella, provolone, and pomodoro sauce. All three were delicious, beautifully presented, and such generous portions that we all had to take some of our meals home with us. Like I said at the beginning, this was our first visit to Angelina’s and it certainly won’t be our last!

Cubs weekend

Best food on North side. Great service, close to Wrigley. Way more than your everyday Italian menu. Try the home made desserts. Tiramisu is killer as is the carrot cake.

Best dessert in Chicago

By TeamG2010 |

CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING. Ohhhh yeah. It's amazing. We're regulars at Chicago 'Michelin' restaurants, but that dessert is our fav!! We get happy feet with anticipation. They have a very good Linguine Mare as well. BYOB.

Hidden Gem

Lovely little Italian restaurant in Lake View! Bubbly atmosphere… delicious piping hot food! Definitely worth a stop!

Great Italian meal and service

By Elise_NC |

I like it when the servers seem to be here from Italy. We have come often. It is a real good meal. Nice setting. TIght, coz. It was an easy decision when I saw the latest Groupon. This time I had the risotto with chicken. I would suggest that for an accompaniment vs. main meal. My husband enjoyed his duck. It was a great night to sit outside, alfresco. But we stayed inside and sat right up front, in the windows on the sidewalk. perfect!

saturday night dinner

By DebG1958 |

Food was amazing - large portions and delicious! Waiter was pleasant but a little slow, however, they did seem to get busy very quickly. Would definitely go again. My daughter lives in chicago and had never been to this restaurant - she plans to return.

Good, not great

By Andrew F |

My wife and I ate here before Game 4 of the World Series. Despite its proximity to Wrigleyville, they were not incredibly busy. When we entered, there was no one at the door, and only a man with a backwards baseball cap wearing a dirty apron to seat us. Once seated, the wait seemed forever. We ate all of our bread, drank our drinks, then still waited. The table next to us complained about the wait as well. The plus side is the food. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, by the time it got to the table, mine was lukewarm at best. I didn't want to wait any longer, so I got mine in a box to go and warmed it up later. Even warmed up, it was delicious. There were clearly issues with service the night we went, but I hope that was just an anomaly. If so, this is definitely a good choice for a meal.

Excellent food and service

By DannyHinMidlo |

We were looking for a small neighborhood restaurant. This is exactly what I had imagined. Very solid 4. Not the best Ive ever had, but very good. I was told they regularly rotate the menu to keep things fresh.

Nice neighborhood spot

By 3Dtravelpro |

This is not on the tourist map and I wouldn't have ever found it if I wasn't visiting a relative who lives in the neighborhood. This is a small place with maybe seating for 30. We had a very attentive staff who genuinely seemed excited to have us there! I ordered a penne stuffed with something....sorry I can't remember! But it was very good and came with a great creamy sauce. They also provided bread with olive oil and I also had a very good Caesar salad. For dessert we split an excellent chocolate bread pudding with ice cream. If you're in the northern neighborhood area this is worth a look if it isn't too busy!

Nice atmosphere

By Lovestotravel022 |

Had wanted to visit this place after reading the Trip reviews. It's a nice restaurant. The service was very good but I was disappointed with my food. I ordered the Short Ribs & they were overcooked and on the dry side. My husband ordered a seafood plate which he enjoyed.

Nice food, but way too fast for Europeans

By Sicco C |

The food was very good but as usual in the US the startes were directly followed by the main course. And by that i mean; directly. Us Europeans are used to have like a 30 minute pause between the starters and the main course to let the food sink in. Americans don’t however...

That's Italian - Really!

By John D |

This is a classic neighborhood gem! Old school Italian with great food in a friendly atmosphere. Homemade limoncello, great linguini and remarkable short ribs. A good wine list. Homemade everything. You need a reservation on the weekends for sure.

Not great food but nice ambience

By Woolens |

Four of us went to dinner after the game. This restaurant certainly has it for charm and ambience. We were seated ‘in the back room’ which was a shame as there was a musical trio in the front room and you can’t hear it in the back. I would have sat in the front had a drink and listened to the music. Alas, this is a restaurant. I ordered the calamari starter which was a little lackluster to say the least, not much in the flavor department and doused in red sauce. Hubby had a wonderful salad and our other table mates had veal Marsala which was excellent (small portion to me). The service was friendly. A bit pricy for what you get.

It's a small and beautifull restaurant, with tipical italian food course! Grazie perfect if you want taste italian flawour.

Lovely Italian food

We ate here on recommendation from our hotel. Like most US restaurants wine is not cheap but the food was plentiful and lovely. Service very good to. Would recommend.

Great Italian Restaurant

By Ballpark52 |

We had a wonderful experience here. Great salads and we had the Lasagna for dinner......superb. Spumoni for dessert was delicious. The service was outstanding......quick, efficient, attentive and friendly. Highly recommended. We'll be back the next time we're in Chicago.

Great neighborhood Italian restaurant

Warm inviting atmosphere, very fresh "daily specials" and standard menu, careful preparation and delicious dishes. Very attentive and pleasant staff. We'll go back for sure.

Wonderful romantic dinner!

By shelia965 |

Wanted a nice dinner after spending Friday night at Wrigley and enjoying the sights in the Lakeview area. This was the best! Very romantic along with delicious food!

Best brunch spot in town!

By Matthew J |

We go every time we are in town. The have one of the best Eggs Benedict I have ever tried. They also have the Mimosa brunch which is around $20 per person. But it includes your entree and a bottomless Mimosa. These are not big Mimosas but they do not skimp on the champagne! If Mimosas are not your thing, they also have an amazing Bloody Mary. It comes with basically an antipasto salad sticking out of it and a beer back. I have never been disappointed with anything that I have ordered. It has been a place we have taken friends and family each time we are in town.

Perfect birthday dinner!

By Daydream62580844514 |

Highly recommended. Took my gal to dinner for her birthday at one of my favorite Chicago restaurants (since moving away 3+ years ago). Angelinas has retained all its quality and charm. Phillip seated us at a duce by the window (best for a couple) and our waiter was superbly polished. Our meal was delicious, and our waiter joined me in singing Happy Birthday before my gal blew out the candle. Then we walked to Wrigley where the Cubs won that night. Perfect! Mark - Towson MD

Outstanding Italian Food, Intimate Atmosphere

By Tracy L |

Highly recommended! My recent dinner at Angelina's was outstanding. I love the authentic Italian trattoria ambiance - intimate, yet upbeat, crisp white table cloths. The food is outstanding. The vongole (linguini with clams) was the best I have had in years. The arugula beet/goat cheese salad was excellent as were the mussels appetizer and potato leek soup. The service is spot on. I can't wait to go back.

Racist restaurant practices

By Earl B |

People stop writing that this is a good restaurant; it’s not!!! This restaurant is clearly racist. And they do it openly My experience at this restaurant was undeniably troubling, revealing a clear pattern of discriminatory behavior. The host or manager on duty, Philip, older man who was dressed in a wrinkled t-shirt, apron and jeans, displayed an alarming lack of professionalism and courtesy. Upon our arrival for a first date, his brusque inquiry of "What do you want?" set a negative tone. When I requested a table for two, his immediate and dismissive "No!" followed by his decision to seat a white couple before us was disheartening. Ultimately, we were placed at an undesirable table, and despite my desire to avoid conflict on a special occasion, I felt compelled to remain composed. However, the situation escalated when, just as we were finishing our meal, Philip insisted we vacate our table for a reservation, even going so far as to remove our belongings without consent. After a brief interlude, he returned with an offer to move us to the bar, which I declined. This encounter left my date and me feeling disturbed and perplexed by the treatment we received, leading me to suspect that Philip's rudeness extends to all patrons of color. It raises questions about the management at Angelina restaurant and their failure to ensure basic guest service training for their staff. Such behavior is unacceptable, and as a member of the restaurant industry for over 20 years, I strongly advise against patronizing this establishment, as we must collectively reject racism in our community.

Charming family-run Italian restaurant reminiscent of Italy

By baseball_dad |

We've eaten here several times, most recently last weekend after a Cubs game and have loved it every time. The tables are small and the space is cramped, but that's part of the charm as it reminds me of being in Italy. Everything we had was flavorful and seasoned perfectly. We shared a combination of pasta and meat dishes and we loved them all.

A refreshing alternative to a post-game hot dogs and beer

By Taylor B |

Angelina Ristorante is within walking distance of Wrigley Field. Located at 3561 North Broadway, at Addison and Brompton, in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, this Italian restaurant is a longtime go-to destination for classic Italian cooking amid an old-school atmosphere. And it is a refreshing alternative to the typical hot dogs-and-pizza-and-beer post-game meals favored by most bleacher bums. Open from 5 to 9 Thursday through Sunday, it is known for its expansive menu and inexpensive prices. After agonizing through another Cubs defeat, my wife and I settled in for a relaxing dinner in quiet surroundings. We started with fresh Italian bread and parmesan, tomato bisque, fresh house-made meatballs with provolone, bruschetta with tomatoes, romano cheese, basil and toasted Italian bread and Caesar salad with fresh romaine, croutons, anchovy and Caesar dressing. For an entree, my wife chose fresh sauteed Atlantic salmon with white wine, lemon, green beans and roasted potatoes. I opted for seared beef tenderloin with red wine, green beans and mashed potatoes. For dessert, we shared portions of house-made tiramisu with fluffy mascarpone and chocolate mousse and chocolate bread pudding with vanilla glaze.

Over-the-top wonderful!

By Susan C |

This is the place for the best Italian food short of flying to Italy! Home made pasta and sauce in the lasagna, flavorful meat & fish dishes and sumptuous desserts. We were a large group (wedding reception) and were amazed at the perfect timing of the food service...neither to rushed nor too slow. Our glasses were always full :>) We were treated so much like family that several of our friends asked how long we had known Philip. They could not believe that we had just met! Our dinner at Angelina's was by far the highlight of our trip (other than the wedding itself) to Chicago! Words cannot express how happy we were to have chosen the right place to celebrate our special day. Thank you!

Italian Gem in Lakeview

By MCHAMMERing |

This small Chicago Italian restaurant is a great place for a classic, romantic night out. It's positioned right in the middle of efficient and fancy, but has zero of the highbrow attitude of "nicer" places. The duck was fantastic, and the wine list seems competent. One criticism is the antipasti appetizer. There is far too little cheese and too much meet-the arugula, which should serve as a flourish, serves primarily as a space gobbler. The crackers, bread, and coffee were all delicious, however.

Hasn't missed a beat over the years!

By viscontigirl |

I used to live in Chicago and this was my favorite Italian restaurant. Was just in town and decided to stop by. Happy to say the food is as good as ever. My personal favorite has always been the chicken Angelina (lemon and rosemary flavored chicken witj roasted potatoes in a wine sauce)...still great...My husband had the linguine vongole and darn near licked the plate clean...lol! No room for desert...again...but the selections have historically been good. One caution...The restaurant is just a couple of blocks east of Wrigley field and parking can be tough. Plan accordingly.

Anniversary dinner

By SKC324 |

We really enjoyed our first visit to Angelina Ristorante! We had a Groupon deal and we were in town for our 1 year wedding anniversary weekend so we decided to try an Italian restaurant we'd never been to before. It was about a 10 minute drive from our hotel. Well worth the trip! I had some delicious salmon and my husband had a mussel/calamari/shrimp with pasta dish. Everything was absolutely delicious. Thank you for the great meal and we're glad we could start off our anniversary weekend with a new restaurant!

USELESS

By Pablo N |

Thsi had to be the most nauseating, repulsive and incompetent place i have been in Chicago. I arrived by myself and requested a table. I was forced to eat at the counter. My Benedictine eggs arrived cold, tasteless and unappealing. I had a voucher with NO restrictions but i was not able to use. Furthermore, they asked me to pay cash ONLY This is America, Hello?????? Beyond!!!!!!!

Try it again

By John G |

A favorite ... Stopped to see if it held up with time. Cut to the chase: it did! Mikey wasour very attentive and competent server. Caution: everything is delicious but we split everything and still had more than enough. Antipasti... Fresh tomato and basil was tied with the parmesan (omg)... Everything else in the generous plate was good, too! Caesar salad: of course! Pancetta pasta with cream sauce... Exquisite... A few mor fresh peas would be to my taste but excellent San Giovese rubicon wss an excellent accompaniment... Beer selection, yuck... But who drinks beer with Italian? ( ummm... Hand raised!) Italian sausage: hmmm... Almost german with the balsamic reduction... Sigh... Great restaurant! Taste buds overwhelmed.... Belly full... Contentment. Italian at its best!

Absolutely fantastic and incredibly authentic Italian cuisine!

By Bob S |

One of the best Italian meals we've ever had! The Boss had the Eggplant Parmigiano. Her cousin, Janet and I both asked for the pasta with meatballs (which wasn't on the menu). What we each received were perfectly prepared linguini noodles and five meatballs, all topped with just about the finest tomato sauce I've ever tasted. Desserts (for which we had no room) were either tiramisu or chocolate bread pudding...(SIGH)...maybe on our next visit to Chicago...?

Another great meal and service.

By Jerry S |

The best place to have a romantic dinner with my wife or take some friends out for a reliably great meal.

Very authentic Italian food

By grandmato8 |

Ate at Angelinas before a Cubs Games. It was soooo good. My husband got lasagna and I was able to split my meal between 2 specials. Great pasta dishes, so flavorful. Majestic Hotel recommended it and it was great.

Great hidden Italian charm

By RusPat_704 |

We met friends here for dinner. The place was packed, the wait was about 10 minutes. It was well worth it. The servers have personality which adds to the experience. We had the Eggplant Parmesan and started with the pear and walnut salad. The recommended wine matched the meal. After this first time we will be returning

Yet again

By John G |

If you love Italian but cant get to Italy soon enough... Come here! Antipasti... Assorted meat, cheese, peppers... Yum. Great wine. Split Caesar... Dressing so fresh .... has to be made here. We're splitting dishes because serving so ample. Make reservations... I just looked at my reviews and see I've gushed about this place previously... Definitely a "must stop" anytime we come to Chicago. Staff exudes Italian warmth and welcome!

Cozy

By Lndylu2 |

I came here with a friend to catch up. The food was wonderful. The portions are huge I mean really huge. The staff was very friendly. The only drawback was it's a very tiny spot and so there is very little privacy between you and the table next to you. So do not come here to break up.

excellent!!!

By jacnit |

excellent food, excellent service, excellent location..disregard bad reviews...can't wait to go back to Angelina's!

they pulled it off great

We had a reunion of 30, 61 year olds at the restaurant. Under Philips great leadership they really pulled it off. The space was great, the service on target. Special kudoes to waiter Anton who made sure glasses were filled and food on the table. The wine and drinks were great. We had a menu of antipasto, salads, chicken, salmon and dessert. The food was great. I particularly liked the bruchetta and chicken.

Dinner with my husband

By Wendi S |

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem while staying in Chicago for the weekend. Were we ever glad we did! The setting is romantic and lovely. Very authentic. The service was wonderful but the food was spectacular! The calamari was great and our pasra dishes were cooked al dente. I had the Fusilli con Pollo and could not have been happier. My husband had the Linguini Fruitti de Mare and was very pleased with his choice as well. I highly recommend having dinner here if you're ever on the north side of Chicago.

Stalwart neighborhood Italian

By Aaron G |

Angelina has been my go-to neighborhood Italian restaurant for some time. It's not going to be mind-blowing--but it will do the trick for a romantic date or relaxed weekday dinner. They also do a nice brunch. -The atmosphere is charming and rustic and makes you feel like you're at a little trattoria in Tuscany. -The service is always attentive and friendly. -They serve good fresh bread with olive oil. -Calamari are tasty with a tangy tomato sauce--and not fried, which is nice for a change. -Sicilian salad is fresh and generously portioned--love that it has artichokes! -Fusilli with vodka sauce is great. -They also do a nice veal picatta. -Tiramisu for dessert is rich and creamy. Again, they're not reinventing the wheel here--but go if you're in the neighborhood, go and you'll have a very pleasant experience!

The best Italian

By Keri W |

The food here is amazing. I had the gnocchi, which was by far the best I’ve had. Our party also ordered salmon with roasted potatoes and green beans, which was excellent. We will be back as soon as possible!

Cozy local Italian restaurant

Moderately priced, fairly standard Italian entrees that are freshly prepared. Generous portions- you could easily share entrees. Great service, cozy atmosphere.

Great dinner at Angelina Ristorante

By David W |

We missed the Cubs game due to bad weather and decided on a nice dinner instead. The staff at the Majestic Hotel recommended Angelina's, and we're glad they did. This was nice rustic fare, and we shared an entree with individual salads. Our waitperson was delightful, service was crisp, and the evening was a great success. We'll dine here again if we ever get back to Chicago.

Champagne Brunch Rocks

By Amy V |

This place is excellent for their brunch. I love it! You receive bottomless mimosas which I would say were about 80% champagne and 20% orange juice. I love the croissant breakfast sandwich. One of the softest, most delicious croissants I have had. The only thing that could be better would be the temperature. The food seems to come out a little cold given how busy they are.

Very good Italian in Northside Chicago neighborhood

By Charles S |

Very good Italian cuisine in the north Chicago neighborhood of Boystown/Lakeview. We enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan and Garganelli, which was rich but very flavorful. Most of the customers appeared to be from the local neighborhood which was a good endorsement of the quality and reliability of the food, and the server was very helpful in guiding us through the menu.

Good, fresh solid Italiano

Helpful waitstaff, window table great for people-watching, seafood pasta with big shrimp, not toe kind you usually get that looks like it was starved in captivity.

Authentic Italian in Chicago!

By Davit A |

This is certainly not my first visit and it will not be the last. We love that Italian restaurant that is not too far from Wrigleyfield. It's a 30 years old restaurant that carries a lot of ambiance, great decoration and a very good service. All off the specialities are delicious, my favorite is Braised Short Ribs. The wine choices are excellent. There is a small bar at the back if you are up to only for drinks and small plates. They also offer Sunday brunches and neighborhood Wednesday's. If you go with a group of friends out family you this place will never disappoint you.

Great from beginning thru dessert.

By HoosierWisdom |

The food has a subtle boldness of flavor that reflects the skill of the chef. He uses traditional Italian flavors by not overlooking the tomatoes. Save room for dessert. A chocolate base with crisp pistachios was a wonderful ending to a greatvmeal.

Great cozy romantic experience

By Andy D |

Very charming locale. Cozy and romantic, with style and class. Great (smaller) portions perfect to experience a full taste of the food. Very fresh, delicious. Price on the higher side, not the common neighborhood restaurant, but more of a special occasion. Staff is great, friendly and fun, making a great experience

Very nice small quiet restaurant

Try the gnocchi.

The gnocchi was excellent. We went right after a Cubs game and the staff didn't have a problem with us having our jersey's on, treated us wonderfully

Quaint Neighborhood Italian Food!

By Richard S |

My daughter wanted to try the Angelina Ristorante, which is in a great location in her neighborhood. We were welcomed enthusiastically by the hostess and were seated immediately despite not having a reservation. Our server was gracious, patient and helpful as we navigated the menu and considered the off the menu selections. After we placed our drink orders, a nice portion of tasty Italian bread was placed on the table. I chose the pasta special as the entree, which was a generous portion of spaghetti and meatballs, garnished with fresh mozzarella. The meal was classic Americanized Italian comfort food. The meatballs were good and the mozzarella added a silkiness to the dish that was both creative and surprising. The meal was good, but not great. The space is small, but decorated nicely and it felt homey and comfortable. However, as the meal progressed, it became evident to our server that our party were not interested in drinking the night away. While the service did not suffer, the attitude changed which was unfortunate. In my opinion, the cost of the meal relative to the quality of the food does not represent a good value.

Romantic or special occasion

By KatieH |

This is such a lovely place, very quaint and quite. Not really a place for large groups or kids. This is the restaurant you want to go to to appreciate an amazing service, with exceptional presentation to even item. You will never been rushed here by the waiter who may want you out asap. Even if you are seated by the window, you get to enjoy your stay and every bite. I have been here twice for a special occasion and will go back. Every thing I've had on the menu is delicious. The Caprese salad has the freshest mozzarella and the clam linguini in white wine was great. However, I will not leave unless I have the tiramisu. Truly the best I've ever had in my life including Italy and its huge. Easily shareable but why???

A true Italian experience

From the wines and the meal to even the atmosphere, this place is excellent. I had the penne with salmon and caviar. Delicious!

Amazing food!! All dishes was spectacular!

By Beta J |

We have been there in a Friday night, with a large group ( 9 ) , they quickly find a way to accommodate all. We ordered different dishes and , I tried all of them, everything was amazing. Even one of the dishes that they brought with a wrong sauce was replaced fast and deliciously. I'll be back for sure when I have a chance.

Fantastic meal

By JMM1988 |

One of the best Italian dinners I've had outside of Italy. Simple menu which concentrates on a few, well prepared dishes. Our service was prompt despite it being a busy night. The pasta was properly cooked to al dente and the sauces were tasteful. One knock I have is regarding the wine...it seems the glass of wine is rather small for the prices charged. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and will go back again when in Chicago.

Romantic atmosphere

By Beth4322 |

The ambience was really nice here. We got here when they opened and they seated us by the window where we could people watch. I was told the special was ravioli stuffed with mushrooms, but it was stuffed with ground beef instead. The waiter deeply apologized and it was still good. The wine was good too. The creme brûlée was perfect and I'm usually pretty picky about this desert. This place is great if you're looking for a quieter, classy place.
