Angelina knows it!

Awesome gyros . Angelina knows what she’s doing and clearly is doing something right! Her market stall is well worth the wait ! Try the beef and lamb! Fresh ingredients, great staff and filling portions. Can’t wait to go back! Cheers Angelina until next time!

Yeah, This is the Best Gyro I've Ever Eaten

This place has moved from the address where Tripadvisor has it to 221 SW Ankeny, south of Burnside. They also only have take-out from a window, no indoor seating. We were there in March, so there might be outdoor seating in summer. Our to-go order was out in less than 10 minutes. The food here is really exceptional. Everything appears to be homemade, or at least local (in the case of the pita). They make their own beef/lamb gyro, and it is absolutely delicious. We got the Beef/Lamb and the A's Favorite wraps. The medium size was really big, enough that we wished we'd gotten the small or split one. The Beef/Lamb was the classic gyro but also with feta and cucumbers. The A's Favorite had kalamatas and spring mix in addition to the basics (tomato, onion, sauce, peprocini, etc.) The fries were seasoned and also house-made. Seriously, don't go get a gyro somewhere else where you are going to get the same mediocre sandwich you can get in any other town. This place is better.

All the best Greek Delights.

We were disappointed originally because we couldn’t find a restaurant that was open. We parked a few blocks away and walked around downtown looking for something to eat! We breezed by Voodoo and did not become tempted by the sweet smells of sugary donuts before we could eat lunch. We ventured down an alley and saw this blue landmark standing out like an oasis in the desert. We saw an open sign illuminated and went right in. It was quiet, and much cooler than being outside in the urban heat. We grabbed a menu, and felt thankful that it wasn’t that busy. My hubby and I ordered two different meals and a few cold sodas. We waited patiently for our food and we were kindly rewarded when they arrived. I ordered the falafel and chicken “bowl/plate” and hubby got a gyro. This was hands down the best falafel I’ve ever had. It was light, flavorful, crispy and fresh. All the flavors were delicious and complimented each other nicely. The bowl came with a spicy, flavorful jalapeño sauce that added a wonderful touch of heat to balance out the Mediterranean dish. Hubby enjoyed his gyro and we can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town. This is a must try if you’re downtown, especially if you’re down by the market and want to get out of the sunshine. Worth the trip!

Great food, small portions

This place has great food and is easily accessible from Waterfront Park. The portions are small and it's a bit pricey. The seating is uncomfortable - high window seats or a community style table.

Long wait, and not half bad!

This is one of the stands in the Saturday market, and they have decent Greek gyros, however be prepared to wait. I think my chicken gyro would have been much better with less of the sauce. They also have bowls.

Light, fresh and awesome!

Eating healthy is so easy with Angelina's. The falafel waffle is absolutely my favorite item. Add one of their super fresh salads and you have a great meal. The bean bowl and meat fleet are also great options. Close to the river, this is a great find in Old Chinatown.

Nice Surprise

We wrote this place off because the hours of operations said it was closed on Mondays. Walking around town we saw a gyro restaurant and thought, well it's not the one we initially wanted...but it'll do. SURPRISE.....it was the one we wanted...Woohoo. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They explained ingredients and stuff very well too. We found a seat by the grilling are, kinda neat to see the girl make our food. The girl I just mentioned was Angelina....COOLIO! She was very nice and friendly. We chit chatted about the previous business that occupied this location prior (which was neat). Talked about the neighborhood and how it evolved too. The food was excellent, fresh and very good. We were enjoying our meal and Angelina asked if we like spicy food. BAM! She hands us a small container of homemade hot sauce. WOW....this stuff was good. All and all, I highly recommend this place for an excellent meal or snack.
