Muy Fantastico!

By Tristan T |

I had heard about this Italian eatery for quite sometime now but did not have a chance to dine there until several weeks ago. My wife (who is an excellent chef) and I took our friends (visiting from New York) to this place and all four of us agreed that Angelini Osteria served authentic, tasty Italian food. The servers all spoke Italian - a sign that this place is the real deal. We live in Orange County and there is no Italian eatery like this in the OC - very sad. My wife and I returned for a 2nd meal a few weeks later and it was superb. Gino is the manager (owner too perhaps?) there and he welcomes you with open arms. We have not tasted Italian food this good since Italy.

No Bueno

By Rich J |

Entertaining family from East Coast led me to choosing a restaurant they would enjoy near W. Hollywood. Had been to Angelini Osteria several times; but, recently had trouble booking a reservation via Open Table. Secured the reservation this time, and wish I hadn't. I ordered the supposedly "marinated overnight" chicken...which tasted drier than sawdust. My nephew's pasta dish he reported was no better than what he might get at a local pizza joint. Why didn't I send the chicken back, one might ask? Well, hard to do when you never see the waiter again after he's taken your order.

Beverly Hills Italian place lives up to the hype!

By Cavalier1994 |

Cozy and warm Italian gem in Beverly Hills. This place lives up to its high rating on TA - service is impeccable and although we ordered a bunch of dishes to share, the waiter was completely cool with it. The roasted veal marrow app was memorable. We also crushed the Bombolotti Mancini - unique pasta with pork cheek, tomato sauce, basil, chili flakes, simple yet delightful. Skip the broccoli asparagus soup which didn’t have much taste. Capped off the dinner with 3 scoops of gelato!

Fantastic Italian Food

By Linda P |

We went with a large group for a birthday celebration. We all ordered something different and it was all wonderful - there was a lot of, 'you've got to try this!' at our table. They have a very good wine list and the service is professional and friendly. You do need to book quite some time in advance, but it is well worth it.

Great spot and great food!

By Linda B |

Order at the counter and grab a seat outside in the patio. They give you a number and bring your meal to your table. We had the Chicken Battuta and the Hanger Steak Piadina. Both were excellent. Definitely recommend!

My Favourite Italian

By Aaron T |

Wonderful Italian food. It is always full but it is worth the wait. I like their bomboloti amatriciana and their carpaccio of swordfish

Great food but limited alcohol

By Scottn |

First and foremost, book this restaurant if you want to visit, we arrived as a walk-in table of 5 and had to wait an hour although it appears their customers like to hang onto their table! Restaurant is lovely, food is extremely good, as was the wine. Staff were extremely attentive! Dropped a star due to only alcohol being wine, no liquor of any kind

Delicious food but bad service experience

By robbyg346 |

Had an absolutely delicious dinner at Angelini Osteria - the lasagna was perfect & the carrot cake which the waiter recommended was delicious as well despite not being a big carrot cake fan normally. The restaurant is definitely on the higher end. Many of the appetizers were the same price if not more than several entrees which I found odd. My experience must have been a bit of a fluke given the great reviews the restaurant receives, but it was overall not a pleasant dining experience as I was being rushed to order, eat & get out as if in a fast food joint. My entree literally came out less than 5 minutes after ordering which for such a high quality restaurant was not as I expected. Overall great food, bad experience.

Dinner

By Steven N |

The food was amazing and we were seated right on time for our reservation. My only negative is the seating is crammed and you are almost literally on top of people seated at tables next to you.

Great Italian

By Joan N |

Had a wonderful dinner.Super friendly atmosphere. Everything on the menu was tempting. My son is vegetarian and found wonderful options as well, especially the pasta limone.

Excellent pasta, just like what we had in Italy

By travel-world-mom |

We were lucky to have scored a reservation. The restaurant is really popular, and for excellent reasons. The service is fast and professional, the atmosphere fun and price very reasonable for the quality of the dishes. In the era of pretentious "small dish" restaurants, this is refreshingly authentic in food and spirit. We had the grilled octopus salad, gorgonzola and pear salad, tailgatelle duck ragout, trofle alla riviera, and risoto frutti di mare. All outstanding. The pastas are truly al dente like they do in Italy, and are full of flavors but not greasy. If this restaurant is in my city, I will visit it every week!

Excellent Dinner!

By Jodi B |

Friends. have always told me to try this restaurant - well I finally did. Amazing food and great service. I had the pork loin - carved at the table. Spent the entire night wishing I could have tried everyone else's food at the other tables - the pizza and pastas look amazing. Will definitely have to go back. Just a great atmosphere!

Excellent!!

By kla2015 |

Excellent food and a great wine list, from very affordable wines to a number of really expensive ones. All the dishes we had were excellent, the service great and the patio seating very nice, too.

A little dissappointing

By Betty Z |

Started off on a bad note when the receptionist was a little rude. We had a party of 11 and the waiters were attentive and quick to serve. My partner and I had the frutti de mari. It was tiny pieces of seafood mixed into rice. Not a good meal. This meal is usually mussels, clams, fish, and other large pieces of seafood over linguini. Not a good choice. Other people at the table chose scallops, lasagne, and assorted meals. Most diners said their meal was good. It would not be my choice of restaurant but the service was first rate. The wine was very expensive.

Unbelievable Lasagne and cool Cafe vibe

By AndyJGB34 |

Googled the best lasagne in L.A. and this place came up ... I was not disappointed. Cool cafe vibe run by actual Italians, reasonably priced and service was impeccable. Flying back to London in a couple of hours but this place makes me want to stay a little longer. Thanks guys!!

Amazing Italian cuisine in the heart of West Hollywood

By Dana M |

The absolute best meal we had on our trip. We dined at The Polo Lounge, Chateau Marmont (which were both excellent) and several other notable places around West Hollywood but nothing compares to the meal we had here. Authentic Italian cuisine-extremely flavorful and fresh made ingredients. The burato was out of this world and entrees were perfection. We finished the meal with a freshly made carrot cake. Most importantly it had a neighborhood feel with no pretentiousness that made you feel like you were at home. Don’t miss out on this amazing experience.

Good Italian eats

By Stephen S |

Good eats, a cozy vibe and polite staff. We ordered two apples and two entrees (and wine) and left stuffed.

Great Place!

By William G |

This is a great place for Italian food. I was there recently in Feb 2020 for a reception. The restaurant was selected by a group of people who came in from Milan, Italy. The food was great and the staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. I had also gone there previously with my family and it was enjoyable as well. Highly recommended and I will be out there again some time soon!

A gem in the heart of LA

By IsabellaK |

A gem in the heart of Los Angeles. When restaurants are closing left and right this staple of a restaurant not only open but offers full menu! Lots of Italian wines and an amazing service! Owners are always there and hands on. Everyone is supper attentive respects social distancing but offers the Italian warmth.

Bella!

By HBM |

This restaurant is busy, very busy, and we discovered the reason why. We made a reservation for a weekday dinner and it was a full house; and honestly speaking the lively atmosphere adds to the dining experience. Before the appetizers we were served a basket of baked flat bread accompanied by two side plates (fish and maybe bulgar wheat salad). Loved the bread! Appetizers were seafood pasta and Italian sausage and beans. Both dishes were awesome; full of flavour and very wholesome. Branzino and veal chop were the mains. I have had Branzino across Italy over the years and I can confidently say that the Branzino here is fresh and delicious. Veal chop was not bad as well, but the Branzino gets the full 5 stars here. Desserts were Apple tart and Tiramisu; both were decent but to frank I’ve had better. Staff were polite and efficient despite the fact they were operating at full occupancy. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip to LA.

Noisy room, good food

By eyemlucky |

Angelini has great food, some higher priced, but delicious. The room is very small and the tables are very close together. It was really hard to to have a conversation with my friend or hear what the waiter said.

Great food, friendly service, perfect vibe. Loved it!

Great food, friendly service, perfect vibe. Loved it! A+ service Amazing experience. Will be back! Date day went very well!

best italian food in LA

By sergio513 |

This time we went there for dinner with our daughter and son in law, and we were able to sample several appetizers and mains. Our favorites were the octopus, the tagliatelle bolognese and the pasta alla norma. Torta caprese was a bit low on hazelnuts. Torta della nonna was outstanding.

The best Italian Food in LA

By Gary P |

The food and service is outstanding we had a group of 7 They brought out food family style so we tried everything it was all fantastic The lamb was cooked to perfection The lasagna was very savory but the tagliatelle Limone is to die for Best meal of the year Great meeting as well

One of LA's Best Italian Restaurants

By DennisTrojan |

The pasta is as good as it gets. I felt like I was in Italy (not Melrose!). I visited during lunch, and I found the prices quite reasonable given the excellent quality. The service is thoroughly professional. I look forward to sampling their more extensive (and expensive) dinner menu.

My regular place

By akuti a |

Good food, Great manager

By sissacd10 |

As a family we have been to Osteria Angelini numerous times for dinner and have always been treated well and have had good food. They also have a place for breakfast next to the osteria which is also first class.

Great pasta

By Deac83 |

Overall a great meal. The homemade pasta was perfectly cooked and very tender (Pici and Tortelli). The flat bread served with the meal had great flavor with some having a nice char on them. We found the deserts worthwhile as well with Profiteroles with ice cream in them and the Affogato. Service was prompt and helpful. Overall enjoyed the evening.

I recommend

By MarcoGix |

Great Italian food! The pastas are very tasty, we tried a few and I recommend to try. The atmosphere is pleasant with some Italian music and the service is very friendly and obviously Italian ;)

Molto benne

By Andreas S |

I'd love to say this place is overpriced; but the fact is, their food is top quality. They know how to make pasta, steak, fish, charcuterie, salad, you name it. I don't think you can order anything wrong at this restaurant. It is expensive, so be ready to splurge. It is amazing though, so get ready for the divine.

🇮🇹 Best Italian Food in California 🇮🇹

By ConcernedCalifornia |

I love Italian cuisine and have been to many superb Italian restaurants and this is the BEST !! We have not lived in L.A. for decades and rarely come into L.A. Although this restaurant opened in 2001, I never eaten here before tonight. My wife and I each had a salad, pasta and a dessert. All six of them were primo. All the food that I saw looked tasty and all the selections on the menu were tempting. I never had any nostalgia about leaving L.A. until tonight because we cannot easily return to Angelini.

Best Italian restaurant

By McXiCohen |

Have eaten at a number of the “high end” Italian restaurants on the Westside. In my book Angelini Osteria stands at the top of the heap. Why? It is part gourmet, with complimentary appetizers brought out right from the start, like an octopus salad and a veggie, salad. The amazing naan like rosemary bread. It is part down home Italian cooking, combining creativity and great ingredients with serving sizes designed to fill you up. I had the sea urchin pasta. The side of rapini, shared by all , was crispy and flavorful, seemingly partially dried before cooking. Cream of broccoli soup, again shared by all, was a delight. I also tasted the duck preparations ordered by others. Again, wonderful and substantial. Oh yea, the wine is good and not priced out of this world.

Glad they are open on outdoor patio.

By GeorgeDubiecki |

All five of us shared most dishes. We sat in a cabana set back a little on the street. The sound of the traffic only added to the environment. The waters were all very nice and attentive. Irina who took my reservation was very sweet. She is from Venezuela. She cared to help and did not mind showing us options for seating. Andrea helped get us set up and was effective and great. Daunia our actual waitress though very busy took really good care of us. We had the tomato bruschetta which was fresh and delightful. The salumi board was fabulous. Fresh ingredients. Very decent portion. Spaghetti Alla Norma with eggplant, tomato and basil and dried ricotta was delicious. The tagliatelle Bolognese Ragu made with beef and veal was done perfectly. The grilled organic chicken was spiced well and cooked just right. The house-made spaghetti chitara alla norccina With black summer truffles, sausage and Parmigiana Reggiano was enjoyed by all. The lamb chops were cooked medium rare just how I like them. They were great. The desserts were really good. The strawberry and pistachio sorbet were sweet. The apple tart with the vanilla gelato was really delicious. The cassata Italiana semifreddo, caramelized hazel nuts and pistachio turned out great. We had great food and great service and we loved sitting in the cabana. Just like old times but more of an Italian environment. I cannot wait to go back.

Wonderful food, service and Atmosphere

Celebrated my wife’s birthday here. Was amazing! Food was great, service was great and could not have wished for a better night. Thank you will be back

Refrain goin to this exaggerated establishment

By Hamdi K |

If i could give a ZERO stars, i would. This place definitely deserves that for their lack of customer service. In the span of 30mins while dining in, we were served by 4 different waiters. For a place with great reviews l on Trip Advisor and yelp, I would expect their food to be impeccable; but that was not the case. There was a couple that sat within our proximity that was getting a better service than us just because they spoke Italian. Never have I felt belittled by an establishment in my entire life like i did at Angelini’s. Asked for the manager before departing and was able to speak to a gentleman named Gino. Informed and notified him of the mishaps, which he initially wanted to counter by asking questions like why i felt that way? I then took 10 mins extra just to explain their mistreatment in detail which he then apologized for and promised to take care of. From the food to customer service and even ambiance, not the kind of place i would recommend to dine.

Outstanding!

By Konstantin M |

It has been a while since i visited the restaurant where everything was simply perfect. All dishes were made in heaven!!! The experience started with the tasty thin bread pieces and continued with tasty fried octopus and homemade pasta with black truffles. In addition, we ordered a couple of bottles of Nebbioll 2014, which i thought was a bargain for $75/bottle. Desert was also delicious. Bravo!

Enjoyed an alfresco dinner

By unhappypatr0n |

Enjoyed an alfresco dinner with great friends Thursday night...6 people accommodated in courtyard absolutely beautiful and relaxing meal. Started with farro salad and salmon, compliments of chef, salmon was extremely tasty with a balsamic reduction. Enjoyed a chopped salad, artichokes and branzino. The chopped salad had cannelloni beans snd was shared and enjoyed by all members at table. We finished night with gluten free chocolate cake and cheese. Only negative was the seat time...fairly strict snd asked us to leave for the nxt sitting after 3 hours...I get it but atmosphere so leisurely I could have stayed talking for longer...no hard feelings though just know if seated early you have a stopwatch!

Excellent Italian

By Ghost |

We dined outdoors at Angelini Osteria had a wonderful evening. All of the dishes were superb without being too heavy and the ambiance, helped by a warm evening was a great way to start a visit to Los Angeles. One thing that could be improved--the service seemed a trifle disorganized and while most of the service was prompt, we never did figure which staff was out primary server.

Foie Gras Nibbles Sautéed to Perfection

By JBMD1 |

The Foie Gras will be our mandatory luxury antipasti (appetizer) here. We find it’s heavenly in almost every restaurant but not as uniformly delicious as here. Cutting the Foie Gras in a way that it retain its optimal structural integrity for searing usually requires the foie gras to be cut to a thickness between ½ – 1 inch, often resulting in a rare, uncooked center. Here the chef manages to serve it cut into small bite size pieces seared to perfection and avoid serving the raw center. Quite hard to do since foie gras has high fat content, so contact with heat needs to be brief and therefore at high temperature, lest it burn or melt.

My long-time favorite for interesting Italian food

By AvidTravelStefen |

I imagine this restaurant has easily the most diverse and extensive Italian menu in LA. It is cluttered with dishes one doesn't easily find - warm tripe, tomatoes, grilled cuttlefish - fresh anchovies with red beets - swordfish carpaccio - blood sausage with mashed potatoes, to name just a few. I have been enjoying the food and no-nonsense atmosphere for more than 10 years now. In the mid 2000s, this was a hip hangout for actors and industry people. But then the restaurant's signature dish, whole Branzino roasted in a crust of sea salt, was featured on the Food Network and the restaurant was discovered by a much broader and also more touristy dining audience. But, the service and the food has not changed one bit. Gino is an amazing manager and is the one who will "undress" the Branzino from its salt crush and plate this amazingly moist fish for you with some simple vegetables. He most have done so hundreds of thousands times. Another one of my favorite there is the Tagliolini al Limone. This one features a creamy lemon sauce that is so good that their coffee place next door now sells it by the jar. All the waitstaff is all Italian guys. Of course, the chaps busing the tables aren't and there is one wonderful old guy who has worked there for over 20 years. It's always great to have a chat with him. The wine list is extensive and has some great Italian wines.

Just like in Italy, maybe better...

By 10998_roebling |

I have been coming to Osteria Angelini for over ten years but haven't been back in several years. Nothing changed; the quality is still outstanding. The carbonara is the best I have had. Homemade pasta with duck ragu was also great. Topped off with a perfect Danesi espresso...A+

Outstanding Dinner

By Gary P |

The food is so great. We had a group of 6 and we shared pasta dishes everyone was very impressed. The Limone sauce is rich but light. The salmon and Lamb were both cooked to perfection. We all enjoyed the food and the service is impeccable. We will definitely return!

Salt crusted branzino, Am I in Italy?

By Robin R |

Angelini was recommended by friends who used to live in LA. It was their favorite restaurant. Wow! Best octopus we have ever eaten in our lives, including in Italy and Croatia. Branzino baked in a salt crust and served with perfect service at the table: are we in northern Italy? Grilled figs with gorgonzola were a perfect savory sweet combo. All this in a simple neighborhood spot, not white table cloth, staff speaking Italian. We went early and parked easily.

Scent and taste of Italy just near by

By Sasha |

If you really love Italian food and can't find time to visit beautiful Tuscany or Umbria, just plan to have a dinner in West Hollywood and I promise you will not be disappointed. Handsome hospitable owner Gino will meet you right at the door. You don't even have to look at the menu, just tell him what you are in the mood for today and the memories after that terrific and delicious dinner will make you to come back there every month. That's exactly how I feel. I must visit them at least once in couple of weeks. And if you want lighter, cheaper lunch, just visit next door Angelini cafe and wonderful Jada will always make you feel very welcomed there as well. All the staff members in both places are extremely professional and polite! Knowledgeable and very hard working towards our satisfaction. I guarantee, if you want a wonderful lunch or dinner with the taste of real charm and true beautiful Italy, go to Angelini! But if you just want to show off or just to say "I was there", go to Il Pastaio or Via Alloro, this way you will never be able to realize how real Italian great food tastes in Los Angeles.

The best Italian restaurant

The best Italian restaurant in LA Everyone is excellent from the appetizers to the oven baked pizza to the entree it all made fresh and the deserts are soooo goood!

Besties 30 birthday

By Shavonna A |

Soooo good! We had reservations for my BFs 30th birthday! The environment was drear, staff was amazing and I ordered the Trodie Allla Riviera which OMG was beyond amazing! It was flavorful, fresh shrimp and I love the cherry tomatoes! It was very flavorful! I also sampled my friends grilled organic chicken, it was also very good! Will come back again for sure!

Wonderful Osteria on Beverly

By VirginiaCW |

I had driven by this place so many times and never stopped but finally made a point based on some other reviews that I had read other than on TripAdvisor. The Osteria has compensated during Covid using their sidewalk and their sideyard and backyard terrace areas, so they can accommodate quite a few people. There is no seating inside the traditional space at this time, everything is outdoors or take out. Five of us were seated in the back of the courtyard at around table under the trees that was well lit and very pleasant very private and very quiet. Our waiter was fabulous, charming, professional, knowledgeable and provided us with everything we needed. Two of us were barely eating but the other three shared the tuna tartare and the beef tartare as starters and they were spectacular; very tasty, just the right portion size, and perfectly seasoned. The we shared the Tagliolini Limone, Homemade Spaghetti Chitarra alla Norcina, Braised Baby Artichokes Casserole, Grilled Branzino (with seasonal vegetables), and the Grilled Double Pork Chop. It was an excellent amount to share along with a lovely red wine. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu and Profiteroles and we're extremely happy and satisfied. Definitely go experience this favorite or locals for yourself. It should not be missed.

Favorite Italian For Me & My Partner: From Grillsforever.com

Superb Italian Food

By LnS2004 |

We came here Sunday for lunch. No dine in at the formal interior at lunch time yet. The courtyard tables were all taken; but it’s equally relaxing sitting at an outdoor sidewalk table, right across the street from the famed El Coyote. Our pets loved to people watch from the comfy artificial lawn. Service was professional and brisk. The Antipasti of tricolore and arugula salads were fresh and refreshing. The Bolognese pasta was exceptional with wonderful house tagliatelle soaking up the perfectly seasoned meaty ragu. The Pasta Norma with Eggplant was equally delizioso! The breakfast eggs purgatorio came with a superb pomodoro sauce. Our side order of crunchy garlic bread was just the right to mop up all the sauces The tuna panino was very good as well. Great food, great service made it a wonderful lunch!

Oustanding Italian food in Los Angelse

By enricoMBe |

Angelini Osteria is the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. The food is off the charts, the services is excellent (all waiters are Italian) and the ambience reminds me of being in Italy. There is passion and attention to details. I was born in Italy and every time I go to Angelini is like a trip back home. Along the years I brought friends and family (including my mom who lives in Italy) and I always got amazing feedback. I really recommend the "Lasagne della Nonna" and the "Branzino al Forno". Absolutely a must if you like Italian food.

Stayed in LA Three Days, Ate Here Twice

By finite35 |

Have eaten Italian food all over the world. This is one of my personal favorites. In fact, it was so good, we ate here twice during our trip.

The Italian Place

By JB Hakim |

The food is exquisite, its really quite hard to say anything less flattering. The wine selection is on point. The service makes you feel like you have exited LA and suddenly appeared in any one of the many charming Italian towns. The venue is cozy and simple and really welcomes you with a warm heart. It's a must go place if you like food. P.S. The Tiramisu is the BEST Tiramisu I've ever had that wasn't made by my mother. Which is saying something!!

Really good food, on the expensive side

By geissepeter825 |

Really tasty, well-balanced and freshly made dishes. Italian staff and you can really feel the love in the food. Had two outstanding pasta dishes. Dishes are quite expensive though.

Disappointed

By EM |

We hadn't eaten at Angelini for years, and having just returned from southern Italy, we were excited to try their latest offerings with friends. We were immediately warned that the sole was briny, and fish was what we were looking for. OK. Shrimp pasta with cherry tomatoes was the next option, and it was simply awful. The food wasn't fresh, the noodles were limp and the sauce gave us the impression that the tomatoes were well past their prime. Zucchini flowers, another favorite dish of ours, were fried as if it were tempura and the sauce was a spicy disaster, and again, didn't seem fresh. The soups were passable, but not great. Panna cotta dessert was stiff as if mixed in a blender too long, and worse of all the service took 2 1/2 hours start to finish. Bus boys reached over me to retrieve an empty soup bowl while I was eating. Not what you want out of a 200 dollar dinner. This is top rated, Italian eatery and yes, we know that LA is known for poor food, but AO had been an exception. Can't wait to get back to Capri for real food.

Made Our Trip

By Harriet F |

We’re on a holiday visiting family here and they recommended this restaurant to us. Honestly couldn’t recommend this place more, the food, the atmosphere, the staff. We will definitely be returning before we leave.

First Among Equals

By James P |

Angelini Osteria is my favorite go-to destination for dining when in LA. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance, It is relatively small and books up quickly, but if you can't get a table online, call direct as I did and you may have better luck. This was a family affair to celebrate a birthday at our table of 3 and the guest of honor ordered octopus--she rated it excellent. I'm not sure what I ordered other than the two bottles of a favorite Napa chardonnay, but I know I enjoyed everything once again. Yes, it is expensive, but no more so than other LA restaurants in the very top tier. (--ordering only one bottle of wine would lower the bill significantly, but we did consume both) And a plus: there is valet parking at a reasonable (again for LA) rate. Have a wonderful evening, as we did once again.

Excellent Special Occassion Restaurant

By Brian M |

This authentic Italian restaurant with mostly an Italian staff features some of the most amazing dishes that even celebrity chef Giada find some of the BEST in the country. My favorites include the Tuna Tartar, Lasagna with crispy Spinach leaves and Calamari. They offer a very extensive international wine list. The special are really “special”. Its a smaller space so plan ahead or go for an earlier dinner. Good energy and friendly staff. The best Italian restaurant in the city!

Amazing!!

By SusanYan |

Boyfriend and I went there as a recommendation from our hotel concierge. From the food to service everything was nothing short of great. We went for lunch and before we left we had to go back for dinner. I would highly recommend the tuna tartare and the branzino. My review doesn't cut it for how impressed we were at Angelini's, I just wanted to keep it short. If you're ever in LA, it's worth a trip!

Good but pricey

By Martin J |

We visited tonight. Restaurant was very busy and had a good atmosphere. We had to wait a little while for our table but for our our trouble we were given a small glass of Prosecco and then a margarita pizza for the table too. Nice touch but did mean we didn’t want any starters which didn’t seem to go down well with our server. We had lasagna and aubergine pasta. Both were lovely, fresh and tasty but very small portions. Especially the lasagna at $24 a portion. It could have easily been double the size for that price. Wine was lovely and sommelier gave us a good recommendation and didn’t actually try and up sell us. Total bill came to over $181 which is a lot for 3 mains, a bottle of wine ($60), 1 pudding and a couple of coffees. Nice but very expensive for what it is.

Norma’s Back in Town...

By Splash46 |

When we were in Umbria in late spring this year we happened upon a wine cellar in Spello and met its owner Roberto Angelini. He told us about a restaurant in Beverly Hills run by his famous cousin chef Gino Angelini called “Angelini Osteria.” So tonight we went to see what all the fuss was about. Lucky, lucky us. Cozy, packed, friendly and of course great food. But that’s old news. This place has a ton of 5 star reviews. I’m only confirming the obvious. The real find of tonight’s culinary outing was “world class’ spaghetti Norma. It’s the kind of dish that makes you sound like closed loop answering machine, uttering the same rather obvious kudos, like “This is amazing” or “This so good’ over and over again. But for good reason. Not since Winston ran the original Tutti’s on Main Street in Montecito and served what was then the gold standard for pasta Norma has any other version come close. That is not until now. In my book, Angelini Osteria equaled Winston’s masterpiece. But don’t take my word for it. Give spaghetti Norma your own test drive and don’t blame me if you get lost in your own kudos loop. It will be worth it...

Spectacular

By sailorchica |

The food and service are incredible!! Highly recommend the lemon pasta!! The staff is friendly and the location is easy to find right on Beverly Blvd!! Outdoor seating also available! But be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as it fills up quickly.

A few month ago Angelini opened a new cafe, next door from the main restaurant. If you are in the area and looking for lunch, this is an excellent place to be. Great food and beautiful outside patio. Very highly recommend.

Old Italian Favorite - Still great

Great Old neighborhood Italian. Small tight tables and loud buzz but great eats. Everything is made to order and you can feel how fresh everything is. I had the pumpkin ravioli and it was special, my wife the fish risotto shared as an starter- very good. Veal chop was pounded Milanese style and was perfect and the salt crusted sea bass is their special signature dish. We also had the Pork roast sliced from the entire side of pork and it was perfectly spiced. Wine list is expensive BUT corkage was $30 per bottle, a bit much and annoying. . They do not have a liquor license. Desserts were rich and the Tiramisu is home made with fresh cream and is so authentic. It is about $100 per person and 20% is standard tip.Valet is $7 and very slow as the street is very busy....

Good, tasty honest Italian food!

By ggnyc11 |

Had a simple but delicious meal of: beef carpaccio with rucola salad and parmizan shavings as a starter and tagliolini pasta with tomatoe sauce ( simple but good!) and hazelnut gelato to finish off that was soooo good! Fabio was an attentive and great waiter. Will surely come back. A rustic and non pretentious restaurant.

Fabulous lunch

By Robert H |

We always have our lunch here when we visit the Pacific Design Center. This place is amazing. The chef is very well known and highly regarded. His seafood soup (complimentary) was incredible. My wife had the lasagna. She says it is the best she has ever tasted including in Italy. The food is very creative and consistent. Amazing. You will need reservations. We will be back many times

Best Lasagna in Los Angeles

By stanfordkuninrubin |

Angelini Osteria makes the best lasagna in Los Angeles. This is a favorite Italian dish not to be missed at this restaurant. We even ordered a full tray for pick up and take out for a large party at home. Yummy!

Fantastic staff, great food!

By Judesworld |

Angelini Osteria is always lively, fun, comfortable and welcoming! Their food and wine choices divine! Sometimes we’re very spontaneous and even on busy nights will help us squeeze in I love the branzino, pizza, pastas, vegetables and desserts! It’s a place we like to go back to over and over again!

Small restaurant offering excellent food!

The trick is to get your reservations in early, they fill up fast. Service is A+, food is A+++. We had five in our group, everyone tried something different and no one was disappointed.

Wedding bliss

The absolute best Italian in LA, friendly, fab food. Attended wedding last week, charming site, great dinner, chef and his lovely wife attended. 5 stars for me!

recommended on the food network by Giada ( the best thing I ever ate )

By ernesta861 |

She recommended the Lasagna. I love Lasagna. I had a business trip planned to LA area. Had to try it. The location is very good. Valet parking. The staff friendly, and the restaurant very clean. The Lasagna at best was OK. I would never order it again, but I would try something different as the restaurant is very comfortable. Giada owes me a dinner. Like that will happen.

Wonderful Italian!!

By clpgreen |

We visited Angelini Osteria on our stay in LA and loved it as much as our first meal here. The restaurant is small and cute with a rustic Italian feel and always has a great atmosphere. Staff are warm and friendly and very helpful with any questions about the menu. The food is delicious and very authentic with fresh ingredients. The pasta dishes are always a big hit although all dishes would be superb, I'm sure!! The wine list is also great. Overall a wonderful meal and night in a beautiful place!

what a treat

By beacherlosangeles |

Excellent food and service at this great Italian restaurant. Nice touch of complimentary bites to start. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu. We shared a few dishes. The salt branzino was perfectly cooked...just as we had in Italy. The Pasta Norma was delicious and prepared to perfection and the caprese salad was one of the best. Be sure to make reservations in advance. This restaurant is super busy. If I lived closer I would make a standing weekly reservation.

Unique experience, completely sublime 🔝🔝🔝

This is a high-end high-quality restaurant with excellent service wonderful Italian menu and friendly atmosphere. Lasagna verdi absolutely the best. The veal Milanese it’s excellent. And it is a large portion. The pasta with a black truffles was amazing. Go early and get a table.

Great service and food

By siouxsy |

The service was on point and everything that we had was great. Ended up having a buffalo mozzarella pizza followed by lasagna verde and ravioli. They also brought out a couple of shareable complimentary apps before the meal. Great wine selection. Would highly recommend.

Heaven also for breakfast

Osteria Angelini Has incredible breakfast - the frittata to die for, the green Lasagna tasty and melt in your mouth - service friendly price very moderate . If you want to eat like you used to eat in Rome - this is the place .

Superb Italian Food in an Always Packed Restaurant

By phd2 |

Don't even think of coming to Angelini Osteria without booking. You may have to wait even if you have booked. The Italian food here is really special both on an off menu, and they're willing to accommodate any special requests, or changes as to how dishes are prepared. Service is speedy and the tables are turned in a couple of minutes. Ask for a table inside (where most of the tables are) and expect to have one of the best Italian meals you've ever tasted.

Overpriced OK meal in the Pacific Palisades branch

By EHpasadena |

We ate there on a Sunday night when a lot of other places were packed. We didn't plan to go there exactly, but the menu looked good and the ambiance looked nice - and we were tired of looking around! Sadly we were moderately disappointed, particularly at this price point. We started with an Ahi crudo with pistachios. This was very good, the fish was fresh, the pistachios very flavorful. We just got back from Sicily, so this was ringing some nice bells. However, the bread that they used was not unlike styrofoam. Tasteless. The bread they served for olive oil/balsamic was pretty good , but they didn't use that. Three small pieces (6 bites), expensive, bland bread. Eggplant parmigiano arrived - a huge mound. Very tomato, dark rich sauce. The eggplant was creamy but without significant flavor. We had the same dish in Naples and it had a wonderful smoky flavor as the eggplant was grilled prior to baking. So, good portion, not bad, not great. Seafood risotto was pretty good. Had a nice fresh seafood flavor (probably from stock) and bits of this and that which were nicely cooked. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp. The rice didn't make me want to write home. Tagliolini (I think) with lobster. Very heavy tomato sauce, thick, lots of onion and that was about it flavor wise. I had onion taste in my mouth for another hour. There were a few small pieces of lobster, nicely cooked but the tomato/onion overpowered everything. The pasta was not properly cooked. It was very, very dense. It is supposed to be "house-made" which may mean "fresh" as I assume they do not make and then dry their own pasta. But it did not have any pillowey quality. Overall a dense, heavy dish that did not complement the lobster. A dud, in other words. The plates had little to no garnishing. There was nothing done to make the plates beautiful or memorable. Service was pleasant although the waiter did not come by to ask about our entrees - so I didn't have a chance to mention the tagliolini. We did not stick around for dessert. I doubt that anything they served would be better than the chocolate and mango we had at home. For $14 I wasn't interested in finding out. We had sparkling water, maybe 350-500 mls, small in other words for $8. San Benedetto, nothing special. Pretentious IMHO. Total without tip (or alcohol) was $155.49 (plus parking). An OK meal, OK ambiance, overpriced. I wouldn't go back.

Delicious!

I made a reservation for this Italian restaurant for my wife's birthday after reading many excellent reviews and I was very happy for the decision. My wife's favorite food is Italian and Angelini is bono! Firstly, you have to make a reservation, it's a tiny restaurant and it's jammed inside. We were a table of five seated at the window and the next table was so close that the waiter literally was on me each time he had to serve or pour. With that said, it's worth the loss of personal space because the food was that good. The dishes that we ordered was the spinach lasagna, gnocchi, taggliatele and I had the grilled half chicken. How good can grilled chicken be you ask? Well, it was one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. It was moist on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned so it was one of the most flavorful chickens I've ever had. But, the best dish was the lasagna! Tremendous The gelato as excellent and they have a gelatoria next door and sell their own sauce. I highly recommend Angelini Osteria and I will be back.

Hidden treasure in a crowded restaurant market

By Henry H |

We have been regular customer of Angelimi for well over 15 years. The food is amazing and service always great. The only issue is that it gets booked up well in advance. For many years the customers were all locals but recently I have seen tourist finding their way in there.

Phenomenal

By adlersandy |

I've been in L.A. twice in the past 3 months. Both times my wife and I had lunch at Angelini Osteria. I can't imagine going into L.A. without going there. I know there are thousands of restaurants there, many of which are world class and very highly rated but why would I want to mess with perfection. I think there's 2 ways to eat at Angelini. The first is to look at the menu and pick what you want. The second requires more time. You start with a glass of wine and the basket of almost paper thin pizza dough lightly seasoned and broken int hand held pieces and watch to see what the diners around have ordered. When you see something that makes your mouth water, that's your first course, etc, etc, etc. There actually is a third option...a little of both. We didn't do that today but we did the last time we were there. We ordered a seafood salad and the Branzino and shared them both. Even though we were both full when they brought the gnocchi dish out with a big marrow bone on it we had to try it. It was so good we took an order home. Today we stuck to the menu. First course was a pasta dish with a spiral noodle, shrimp, cherry tomatoes and spinach. I'm a pretty good cook and I like to try dishes in restaurants and then go home and try and duplicate them. I won't even try and do that with this dish. It was so phenomenal that I know I'm going to be disappointed. I actually went back and thanked the chef. We had the Branzino again for our second course (so simple and yet so delicious) and finished up with my wife's favorite dessert, the panna cotta. The food was so phenomenal that I've forgotten to mention the service. You get the feeling they've all been there a long time (it seems like about half of the patrons get hugs) but no one comes across as bored or jaded. Everyone is friendly and attentive without hovering. This is not a cheap restaurant and I'm not a rich guy but some things are worth doing and the dining experience you get here is definitely worth it.

An taste of Italy near Beverly Hills

By TRAVELLINGMAN538 |

My wife and I enjoyed a superb lunch yesterday in this family run little Italian restaurant on Beverly Blvd in West Hollywood We were treated to delicious complimentary bites ; my wife ordered the trofie pasta with shrimp and I had the branzino-- both were mind blowing . The wines were exceptional and correctly priced and the service second to none , friendly knowledgeable , helpful and efficient Desserts were the family apple tart and for me the affogato We will definitely be returning and we recommend this great little restaurant without hesitation

Pricey + YMMV

By Danielnjoo |

Based on friend’s recommendation, my friends and I came here with an 2030 booking through OpenTable. Then because of some miscommunication between the hostesses and management we saw a group who arrived after us were seated before us. Finally seated at 2045. The uni pasta lacked on the uni. But 4* because management made it up to us with free desserts, profuse apologies, and a promise that the next time they won’t screw up.

This was my 4th or 5th time here on visits out here to see family.

By susan g |

Okay, I started coming here at least 9 or 10 years ago when one of our children moved to LA. We loved it and celebrated family occasions here. The lasagna, I was told was their highlight, and it was, WAS. in the past. I wrote 2 reviews on Trip advisor saying so a few years ago.. We went this evening, and well to me Angelina Osteria was a shadow of what I remember. The artichoke side dish was artichokes from a can overcooked and tasteless. The only good thing was the wine and a $76 before tax and gratuity, should have been. The lasagna was a lunch leftover, reheated a few times. At $20 just okay, I left most behind. I used to get some to take home. The service was excellent and efficient. The staff very hard working.

Amazing Angelini

By lantana |

It is so worth a visit. Cute place, extremely attentive staff, and outstanding food. We had lobster salad, braised baby artichokes, grilled calamari, veal pasta, limone pasta, lasagna and seafood risotto. Great desserts as well.

Fantastic Lunch

By Andy |

A perfect lunch on a flying visit to LA. The staff were so friendly, the service was first class and the food was amazing. We had the Antipasti and Pasta, the rustic garlic bread was fantastic as were the meatballs. The lemonade was perfect in a hot day and the Tiramisu is an absolute must.

pastas

authentic italian restaurant, very good vibe and handmade fresh pastas are excellent, delicious desert good service

Top pick!

By maccruzz |

Amazing food, beautiful staff, feels like Italy itself! A Must Go. Best pasta I had in LA and Best Tirimisu

Authentic. Outstanding. Scrumptious.

By Mary W |

There were 5 of us and we tasted 10 different dishes. Each one was delicious. The pasta were definitely fresh. Theneat dishes were mouth watering. We ate so much that we could not eat dessert.

One of, if not THE, best Italian in LA

By Writer/Director |

I’ve only been here for lunch, and I’m certain dinner is just as wonderful. It starts with complimentary items from the chef. Not amuse bouche, but rather a soup or farro salad. The pasta is perfectly cooked, the Branzino was delicate and awesomely flavored. The gelato from next door is the perfect ending. I always get the chocolate sorbetto. Amazing.

water not free (!), the dishes small portions and not super tasty, bad "service"

By Sara C |

We were hoping for an enjoyable evening with our three teenage children and this highly rated (how comes ???) restaurant managed to ruin it. The portions were unusually small and were ok tasty but not especially so. The "service" was very inattentive, our water was left unfilled most of the time, and the waiter's recommendations were mumbled and rushed. To top it, when we received the bill we realized, for the first time, that our still water, which was served in open bottles, was surprisingly not free but cost $7.

A gem

By Shelley K |

Wonderful food always good service - a little crowded but who cares everything else is perfection - make sure to make reservations

Andrew

By Andrew G |

Looked forward to visit. Busy. Rushed staff offering little description. Had the Uni pasta. Very little uni. It was kinda good/good. Not a top tier place - maybe average.

Outstanding lunch

By Ron |

This restaurant screams Osteria as it is a small unpretentious gem maned by an all Italian staff. The food is outstanding. We enjoyed an endive salad, incredible light lasagna, veal chop and a spinach/shrimp dish served with pasta. Excellent service and a carafe of house 2011 chianti topped off the experience.

Good food, efficient service, a bit pricey even by LA standards.

By Rkwok68 |

We went to Angelini Osteria on a Monday night and it was packed. We sat by the door and there was a constant stream of new customers coming in to be seated. We ordered the Octopus (fried) - served on a bed of arugula. It was tasty. We shared an order of the Sea Urchin (uni) linguine - because of course, you’re at an Italian restaurant so you must have pasta, right? Pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was balanced very well with a portion of sea urchin balanced on the pasta (which you mix in). It was also very tasty. The entrees were a little disappointing. We ordered the Branzino (fillet, not the entire fish) and I had the Dover Sole Romagna style (again, small portion size) - both were served with mashed potatoes (very buttery, well done) and sautéed veggies (also pretty standard). Honestly for $50 and $60 I expected the portion sizes to be a bit bigger - (-1 star) Overall - pretty happy with the meal but would I come back? Probably not. Good enough to try once but not return again and again IMHO. Lots of great dining spots in LA.

Amazing food, but...

By N D |

We had a couples dinner there Nov 2020. The restaurant has excellent outdoor seating complete with heaters. The wine list is substantial and very high end. And the food quality is excellent. We enjoyed all the food we tasted; including the Bolognese, Wild mushroom pasta, the tri-color salad and the artichokes. Unfortunately it took over 1 hour to receive the pasta dishes. When we enquired about the delay, we were repeatedly told in two minutes our food will arrive. So overall excellent food quality, great wine selection and spotty service.

My favorite Italian restaurant in LA

By Jim B |

My wife and I love our trips to Italy for the wonderful country, people and food. Angelini is the closest thing to simple, fresh, beautiful Italian food. The only problem is so many people have figured that out and it is hard to get in, but worth the effort.

Better than expected

By Brian B |

Finally an authentic Italian cuisine, a restaurant that reminds me of the ones in Rome. We ordered WHOLE MEDITERRANEAN BRANZINO roasted in sea salt, aromatic herbs and VEAL CHOP alla Milanese. Both were great tasting. Great chef, great knowledgeable waiters. Great experience. Worth every dollar.

Don’t get the hype.

By Batsheva |

My husband and I Travel all over the world and live in Santa Monica and we are total foodies. I read all the reviews and I was super excited to come to dinner here after reading so many great reviews. We sat outside on the patio. We had a super nice waiter (mediocre with attention at best) and the wine was delicious. The food overall was ok. Nothing spectacular and with a bill over $450 for 4 people with 2 carafes of wine and 7 dishes (2 main and appetizers) and a couple desserts, I was disappointed that as I am walking away from The meal Feeling- bleh- no standouts. My husband and I both commented that at a bill over $450 that we should not have had to ask for water over and over again. Something was off and it just should have been better. Chalk it up To a bad night- who knows. Maybe we ordered the wrong things- skirt steak, Branzino, lasagna verde, artichokes, buffalo mozzarella pizza, salad, tuna tartar - desserts- no standouts. Disappointing after so many great reviews. Maybe we would go back and try some other pastas- but with so many incredible restaurants in LA- most likely not. I mostly can’t get over the details of the water and not being on top of that (or having to ask for more wine???) and the food being good- just not great. Kind of a bummer and perhaps my standard after eating all over the world is too high. Having to ask over and over again for water I Think at this price point is unacceptable. Call me crazy. Love Manuela, osteria Mozza, pizzeria Mozza, Cassia, little fatty’s- to give a reference point.

Olive Oil perfection

By Athina I |

I am impressed by the quality of ingredients used by this establishment. The quality of the olive oil alone is outstanding. My boyfriend and I ordered the grilled octopus (highly recommended), the beef carpaccio, the duck ragu, and a shrimp pasta plate. For how amazing the restaurant is the pricing is completely reasonable. I will be coming back again soon.

100% Italian products and cooks.

By Amador |

Good Italian restaurant, with rich food and good products at a reasonable price for Los Angeles. The bad... It is small and noisy, very uncomfortable with the waiters always passing around you and with the tables very very close together (must book).

Lovely dinner visit

By Laura |

We were running 15 minutes late yet were still greeted warmly and welcomed in. We chose to sit outside and pleased we did as we had a table in the courtyard area which had a nice romantic feel and was more private than the seating on the street area. We ate the lemon cream spaghetti and lasagne, both tasted amazing. The profiteroles for pudding were delicious, I would highly recommend them! All the staff were friendly and attentive, and able to help with some questions about the wine.

Top Notch Old School Italian in LA...

By Rocky Road |

Hard to get a reservation, now I understand why. As soon as you sit down they bring free appetizers, salmon, vegetables and crackers. Some of the prices are high, but I had a nice, big glass of Silcian red wine for $13. The Pear salad was great, classic, no surprises. The Ravioli again was great, classic, no surprises. The Pizza was super thin "cracker" crust, just like I prefer, but the toppings slid right off when I tried to pick it up. The Bread pudding, I got to go, again was great, classic, no surprises. Not quite as innovative as Bestia, Felix or Scopa, but comfortable food, relaxed service (Italian waiters, no hurry), cute little restaurant, family friendly (at least for lunch on a holiday), packed with LA's finest. Experience it.

Local LA Find: Outstanding!

By Jackie O |

Wonderful food and service. From the complimentary samples of soup, pasta, & little bites of fish to mixed salad, caprese with burrata, to branzini and pasta with sea urchin it was all fantastic! There wasn't one thing that didn't work. I have a friend who introduced me to this place since we are both foodies and it is definitely worth the trip. A little unassuming place, you would never expect how great it is. I would make this a weekly habit if I lived closer!

Authentic, Eclectic, Overpriced but enjoyable.

By amlaped986 |

I enjoyed dining at Angelini Osteria. The service was fine, the menu was somewhat limited but they are able to execute this tight menu quite well. I do not believe this restaurant is for everyone, as the offerings might be a bit too avant-garde, if you are looking for your traditional rendition of Chicken Parmagina with Spaghetti or Linguini with White Clam sauce-then I would suggest Dan Tana's in West Hollywood. This place successfully serves up a more authentic Italian experience, I opted for Seafood Risotto consisting of clams, mussels, lobster and calamari-the portion size was small for the price point but the risotto was well prepared. I submit that the risotto is made here properly with consistent stirring of fish stock into the starch until it is fully cooked instead of the shortcut some places use that involves boiling the rice to cut time on the cooking process, there's no way everything is not done fresh here, trust me it is. My wife ordered a meat lasagna made with spinach-again you can plainly see that this is freshly prepared, the lasagna was an adequate portion as well-certainly not oversized but not terribly undersized either. They basically give you just enough to eat at this restaurant, which is fine but take that into consideration if your expectations are different prior to walking in. I didn't leave the place hungry but some might depending on what they order. We had a homemade bread pudding for dessert and I considered this to be one of the highlights of our visit, it was truly a fantastic rendition on the classic dessert. The wine list is extensive yet once again overpriced and barely meets value-stressing portion again with the wine, they aren't giving you any extra drops in the perfectly portioned controlled glass for $18. I would suggest you try this place if you've not been before, but I will likely not return. There are so many options in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills that I would be inclined to revisit then this place. Good but not Great.

Atmosphere, LA vibe, great Italian waiters- personality all around- and great food

By Pepper |

We loved it- from the being squished in the corner with the Italian waiters hustling by- to the amuse bouche soup, to the very good Chianti, to perfectly cooked Branzino and Chicken. Loved the artichoke appetizer and Burrata. The lattes were excellent as well. The vibe here is part of the fun- I was just in Italy a few months ago- and this felt like I was back. Great host in Maria and we loved our waiter too ( cant remember his name though). A group of friends took the area outside, one long table enclosed by a see- through plastic curtain- and it looked cozy- and they seemed to be having a particularly good time. This ambience is warm and really conducive to good connections with friends and food.

A bit of Italy

By Reiserhof |

One of the best restaurants in LA. The celebrities usually seen there are a testament to the regard with which this establishment is held. Exquisite cuisine, real Italian and not Italian-American, to excite and please your tastebuds. Prices and service appropriate for the quality of the food. Unpretentious yet eloquent, this is the place for both special occasions or a night out of fine eating. Easily can become one's "go-to" restaurant when quality Italian cuisine and hospitality are desired.

What a fantastic restaurant,

By Gary P |

What a fantastic restaurant, the best Italian food in LA. I brought a business associate and her family We had many appetizers and they were great We also had a pizza and it was super crispy and flavorful The green lasagna is so good We had many desserts the best was the gelato with espresso The service is excellent as always

Outstanding Italian Cuisine

By Amedeo D |

This place is absolutely great. The food is excellent. Handmade pasta, perfectly executed sauces, superb entrees. We had an incredible salt encrusted Branzino and a perfect Bistecca al Fiorentina, two dishes that are rarely executed properly. The chef here nailed both dishes. As for the staff, they are fun, attentive and great at their job. We had two additional waiters stop by to help serve and to ask if we had everything we needed. Also, the desserts are hand made in the restaurant and are delicious. I believe that this is a perfect establishment, no lie.

Angelini Osteria serves the best Italian cuisine. Everything on the menu is good. Food is cooked perfectly. All desserts are homemade. The waiters who served us were polite and friendly.

Food is fabulous. The wine cellar is impressive.

Best Italian Food in LA

By Isdrabkin |

If you are looking for the best Italian food and don’t pay attention to ambiance, then Angelini Osteria is your place. Their food is as close as it gets to the dishes we’ve tried in Italy. Thin crust pizzas, al dente pastas, fresh seafood and excellent quality meats. Great selection of Italian wines.

Top Notch Italian

By Larry |

Be sure to get a reservation as it is always busy. As soon as you sit down they bring some tasty appetizers, salmon, vegetables and crackers. The Pear salad is great. Ravioli also great, classic. The Pizza has thin crust. The Bread pudding is also amazing. Very relaxed service. Experience it.

The best Italian food in LA, hands down!

By StacyClaude |

Angelini Osteria is my GO TO place when I'm craving THE BEST Italian food in LA. The dover sole, whole branzino, sea urchin pasta and PROFITEROLES are must gets. I frequent this place and the food and service are consistently on point. The best couples' spot (PRE-COVID) was the inside bar area. I look forward to the re-opening of the inside again. This place will not disappoint.

Small in size big on taste

By Mahmood I |

Great restaurant with special dishes on certain days. A good selection of wines to pair your food with. Good for dinner and lunch. Italian food and one of the best around.

Very disappointing

By Trup |

This place is overrated! The food was good but not exceptional. The service was friendly but one of the four of us had to wait at least 10 minutes for his meal after the other three were served. And the prices were exorbitant -- over $50 for so-so fish entrees (Dover Sole and Branzino) -- that's ridiculous. Oh ... not to be forgotten -- the place was really, really noisy!!! If you have any hearing deficits at all, go someplace else (and probably have a better meal at a more reasonable cost)

Lunch : the real italian taste

No one playe was wrong... everything oustanding... the service “ perfetto” The Place is a “simple” Trattoria... good adress for everyone!

Best pasta and service

By Kara M |

Small, cozy restaurant. Amazing homemade pasta, great thin pizza, excellent wine. It was like stepping into an osteria in Positano. Delicious profiteroles and cassata. Perfect.

Sea Urchin Pasta

By PilotMichael |

Uni, or Sea Urchin, is the delicacy of Japanese sushi. Never thought of it on pasta. This Italian restaurant has quite the special treat of Sea Urchin and linguini. Ever so delicious!

A nice place but not for me.

By Pat B |

I got there by accident. The place I wanted to eat didn't take reservations and when we got there the wait was over an hour. But we were hungry so we walked across the street to somewhere we'd never been. It was crowded too, but they had just received a cancellation so they were able to seat us. The menu choices were large but there wasn't a single thing on it that I wanted. It was what I call "West Hollywood" food. Lots of grains (some I'd never heard of) and some pasta dishes that had things in them that.I didn't know belonged in them and a bunch of salads that didn't look apitizing to me at all (I hate Kale). And everything was quite expensive. But a lot of people must like the place because it was jammed packed.

My Favorite Lunch Cafe

By Gary P |

This is the best lunch place for a quick bite They have curb service right now and I am so happy stopped there yesterday and ordered to sandwich The chicken with avocado and bacon was excellent Also orders the caprese sandwich it was delicious tomato was very tasty Both sandwich’s came on a great ciabatta and the fries were crispy and flavorful

Less Than Average Food, Strange Clientele

By Brian C |

I checked out this spot after reading that Brian May from Queen posted that this was perhaps the best Italian Restaurant in the world. Uhhhhhh,...I disagree. The place was pleasant enough but by no means is it the best Italian restaurant in the world. t. The food was average and poorly seasoned. We started with the chopped salad and it wasn't dressed at all. Certainly not a big deal, but at a restaurant of this caliber, it is a big deal. They only serve wine which is a bit of a bummer. Most dishes feature truffles. Are we done with truffles yet? They taste like motor oil and its such a 2012 thing. Our pasta courses were equally unseasoned. Maybe it was just this night,...not sure. The other thing is that the crowd at this place were super strange. I was born and raised in LA so I'm totally aware of the opportunity for possible star sightings around town,....but in this place, every lunatic that walked in stared at each person in the eyes, desperately trying to find someone impressive or important. It was so odd. If you need food,...expensive food, this place has it and you will be satisfied. As long as your expectation is nothing beyond that, you will enjoy Angelini Osteria. Dont forget to dress to be stared at!!!!!!!

Ottimo

By Ale V |

From an Italian born and raised in Italy: this is the best Italian restaurant in the US. Keep the bar high guys!! Alla grande!

Good but not Michelin level

By Nathalie F |

It was good , but nothing like a Michelin restaurant. In that sense our expectations were disappointed. But a good restaurant

A pure gem

By scotttmiller1 |

Sit in the beautiful outdoor patio and enjoy the wonderful food or sit inside and enjoy the Italian spoken back and forth by the charming, gracious staff. This place is great across the board. And the Limon pasta sauce they sell (full recipe included on the jar) will bring the house down if you wanna make dinner for someone special.

Authentic Italian. Perfetto!

Angelini Osteria is a real treasure in Los Angeles. It serves the best Italian cuisine in my opinion. Everything on the menu is good. My favorites are Lasagna Verde, Pork Chop Milanese and Grilled Whole Branzino. Food is cooked perfectly. Of course the best part is dessert. All desserts are homemade. We tried carrot cake, Tiramisu, Apple Tart, Panna Cotta, Profiteroles and Affogato al Caffe before. They are all good. Make sure you leave enough room for dessert. It's a small restaurant and tables are placed quite close to each other. But that's what I like about Italian restaurant. They also have few outdoor seatings. David, the waiter who always serves us, he is the best. Polite and friendly. Street parking or valet parking.

Small but very tasty gem in the middle of Los Angeles

By Jack V |

This small little unassuming space is one of the best Italian places to eat in LA. It is small but very lively with an even small outside eating area. Try the lasagne, Beef Carpaccio and Octopus and you will not be disappointed. I have eaten at this place for years and to food is excellent but service will range from excellent to good. Book ahead for it is hard to get a reservation.

The restaurant is quite cozy, and the food is marvelous. Be sure to make a reservation though, because this place is always packed! And for good reason! The fish is superb, and the pasta dishes are amazing. A definite must if you like Italian!

The Kids Insist

By tuck33000 |

I grew up in Los Angeles: my kids (one a well know food/wine writer) live in choice areas of the metropolis now and my wife's and my annual Xmas visit includes treating them to dinner at Angelini. It's a relatively small restaurant with tightly packed seating and it can be loud (in a happy way) if your hearing is still good, which mine is.The food is delicious and authentic: favorite starters include the beef or swordfish carpaccio, roasted veal bone marrow, but for the mains most of us go for their incomparable fish selections, the whole Branzino, Dover Sole, Swordfish, (though one son-in-law holds out for the succulent veal chop alla Milanese or the Harvey Gus Bistecca). Their pasta's are amazing but I think we're tempted by the meat and fish options because Angelini sources the ingredients for these dishes from the very top LA suppliers and you will taste this straight off. We were just back from a trip to Rome where we got hooked on Italian Sauvignon Blanc's and Angelini had a fine selection from which to choose. The waiters are charming and attentive. Our favorite LA place and a star in a list that goes back to Chasens, Romanoff's, Miceli's, not to mention the Smoke House (with Gable or Cooper at the bar) for a Saturday lunch.

Experience to remember

Had one of the best italian meals ever. Nice atmosphere & great service. Homemade pasta with truffle OMG! and the Pistachio Ice Cream... to die for ..

Best LA Evening

By tuck33000 |

We treat our kids (now in their 40's) to an Angelini dinner just before Christmas each year. I start every evening here a little grumpy because of the tightly packed tables, the noise of conversations amplified as it is by the wood and concrete room, the draft of cold air bellowing in from the constantly opening door, and the tendency of the ever so charming staff to get wine flowing long before food arrives; but relatively soon the evening becomes magical. The food is fabulous, the servers are utterly delightful, and the wine list is extensive and reasonable. Favorite starters are the beef carpaccio and roasted veal bone marrow: and mains; their grilled swordfish, roasted branzino, and veal shank agnolotti. My wife, who Italian, says that Angelini's tiramisu is the best in the world.

A depth of rich flavour!

By Javier R |

Amazing rich flavours abound here. I had the scallops (pictured) and the bombolotti – they take umami to the next level. Coupled with a valpolicella Ive had one of the nicest Italian meals I've experienced in quite some time.

Dinner relaxed in a wonderful place

By Marcia Aida Silva |

Nice and relaxed place. From the beginning we were well received, although we arrived short of minutes for the restaurant to close. Nicole, Brazilian attendant, made all the difference: helpful and very requested, explained us the whole menu and even gave us tips from LA. Tasty food.

Very busy but worth the crowd

By Elaine Buck |

The wait staff is extremely helpful and accommodating! Very handsome waiters too. The tables are very close together as the place is quite small but It is still worth it. I wish they had better bread but maybe that is Italian style; a bit hard. I ordered the fish which was cooked perfectly. Nice valet and hostess as well <3

good food but double-check your bill, they added a bottle of wine to ours

By LAtravelover1 |

have been here several times. food is good. i usually just give my credit card at the end of the meal. this time when i got back the bill it seemed high. for the first time i checked the bill and saw they had added an extra bottle of wine to the charge. i let the waiter know and without apology he took the bill and came back with it corrected. everyone at the table felt the charge had been added not by mistake but on purpose. live close by but never going back. if you go, make sure you check the bill closely!!

What? This Is Italian Food in L.A?

By D Koa |

Here is a run down of what we ate recently at Angelini: Red Beets salad -- 3/5. Very average. No different than any other beet salad found at any average restaurant in North America. Tortelli - - 3/5. Ditto. Spaghetti Norma -- 4/5. Not bad. Nicely done. Branzino -- 2/5. Waaay overcooked. Must have left it resting for too long. Dry. Dry. Dry. If an Italian restaurant cannot properly cook branzino then there is definitely something not kosher here. I may come back and give it another try the next time I am back in L.A. but this can't be the gold standard for Italian cuisine in L.A? Can it?

Best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles

By claireesp |

We called in on the same day for reservation and were accommodated by a very lovely person who answered the phone. The service was excellent - waitstaff were courteous, helpful without being fawning. The food was lovely: we had the mussels and clams, seafood risotto, chopped salad, and the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection. The panna cotta and mascarpone cream dessert were to die for. The food was seasoned to perfection. The wine selection was varied. We had a rose which paired well with the food. More expensive than the usual Italian restaurants around - but worth the price. I live in the Valley but will head out to Fairfax district for a meal at this place. Packed, packed, packed on a Tuesday night.

No that good as they say

The service is so slow, I ordered a lemonade and they never bring me it. The food is nothing special. The quality is like eat on a fast food restaurant

Fresh and authentic - wine list

By FunintheOCsun |

We were recently in Italy and this is the closest to an authentic Italian meal we’ve found since we came home. The wine list is extensive and varied. It’s well worth any effort to get here for dinner. Go go go. You’ll love your meal.

This is really as good as it gets.

By James Motley |

Everything you get here is good. The soups, pastas, lasagna, and wine! We started with bread and they brought over a little sampler of salmon and a prosecco. Flat/sparkling water is $7 so make sure you get your water order straight. I was watching the table next to us have their branzino deboned. It looks so fresh and tasty, I can't wait to go back and try it. This place has been here forever so you know it's good. All the tables inside were full on a Wednesday. Parking is valet, meter, or in the neighborhood if you want to walk 10 minutes.

What a nice surprise

By Ginny B |

This is a truly friendly restaurant with excellent food. First I should say, I usually find Italian food ordinary, but not here. I started with Tuna Tartare, which had pistachios and arugula, what can I say a terrific combination of tuna, crisp spicy arugula and the crunch of the nuts. For my main course I chose another appetizer, roasted quail with pig cheeks. This was the best quail I have ever eaten. It was eaten with my fingers and I got every morsel off the bone. The lardon were crispy, I which I could get this at home. I finished my meal with a frozen semifreddo that was a perfect ending to a fantastic meal. I know why a friend recommended this wonderful place. I will be sure to suggest it to anyone heading to LA.

Whatta Steak Florentine!

By Hencat |

This is amazing, classic Italian cooking with a great wine list. Kind of crowded but the food is amongst the best Italian in the city. Had a massive steak Florentine for 2 with the meat sourced from a top local purveyor. Pastas are homemade. Service is professional. Hands down, it;s great

Impressed

By Naked Space Cadet |

We were greeted at the door by Elizabetta. From the moment we walked in, she was very kind and very attentive. She was very knowledgeable in the available options, along with suggestions for pairings with our food. We hope to be back in the near future and we hope it’s on a night that she is there! Thank you! Also, the atmosphere here is very lovely! We imagined that it would be hard to pull off nice outdoor seating right next to Beverly Blvd but this place pulls it off! :)

Fantastic Italian Food

By Cece D |

I visited here with a group of my girlfriends and WOW! I am a huge fan of Italian good but this place beats all! The lasagne is to die for and it is one of my favourites. Will deffinately be returning. The staff could not be any friendlier, which made the experience great fun for us. Will be recommending this place to all my friends and family

Not an experience I'd recommend to anyone

By Emily Mirjam |

We were led to Angelini by the rave reviews, Michelin guide mention and several appearances in "best italian restaurants in L.A." type articles. Maybe we had bad luck but the experience we had was not an experience I'd recommend to anyone. At first the service was nice, albeit a bit rushed, and we got excellent wine recommendations. Our table was a bit wobbly so the waiter told us he'd fix it but never came back. When we were finishing up our main courses, one of the servers kept circling our table (at least 3-4 times) looking intently at our plates. It felt like they couldn't get us out of there quickly enough. After the plates were cleared, we suddenly got left alone for at least 20 minutes. Nobody asked if we wanted dessert, some drinks, or the check. We eventually had to stop one of the waiters to ask for the check. Well, was the food good? Yes. Was it worth the money? No. The food was good but rather average - no interesting flavours or dishes. The appetizers cost as much as the main courses and neither seemed to be worth the money. I sincerely hope others will have a more enjoyable experience - as we will not be returning to this place.

Great food, uncomforatble chairs

By Robert B |

Lasagna and fish are perfect. I never get anything else. The chairs are simple hard wooden chairs and the restaurant itself is crowded

Great Italian food and seafood

By Aikane B |

So much to say about this place...and I hesitate to say anything as I don’t want everyone going here! The space is delightful and I think next time we go, we will try to sit at the back bar. The only negative is that the tables can be a little close together, but that also means you might meet a few new people. They start you with some delicious treats which is almost enough to have for dinner. Amazingly fresh and tasty treats! I had the octopus salad which was perfectly tender and, again, almost too much. Then for my entree, the branding, which they filet table side. What a delight! The fish was perfectly cooked and not a bone in sight. There was too much this time and it had to be taken home for dinner the next night. The sorbet and gelato for dessert were so delicious! Our wine selection was a perfect pairing throughout the entire evening. We will definitely be going back. Reservations are highly recommended!
