Two Thumbs Up

By Suzanne W |

Parking available on site! Parking is at a premium in this neighborhood. Arrived early for a 1:30 reservation for brunch and were seated early. This restaurant is totally open to the outside. Beautiful! The service was prompt and professional. Food and drinks were spot on. So many fancy brunch drinks available! Looking forward to our next meal at Anis.

Never fails to impress

By JBT2 |

Locally owned and operated, classic basic french cuisine, always packed. Great atmosphere, not many tourists, mostly locals, located off the main drags, my guests always love it.

Still one of our favorites!

Anis is The perfect place for brunch on Sunday when Atlanta's weather is beautiful like today! We have been waiting for this day and it was worth it. This charming bistro has a large patio so make a reservation for a table as it gets crowded at 12:30. No alcohol can be served until after 12:30 Sunday so that may be the reason for the crowd at that time. They offer a courtesy valet and the table service was excellent. Their French menu has a great variety of courses. A basket of fresh bread, rolls, and butter was on our table seconds after our order. Eggs Benedict and Steak Frites were served hot and delicious. The frites were especially good! The dessert menu on the chalkboard is wonderful so the choice was difficult. We will return again soon to try the dinner menu. With all the new buildings around them, we can only hope they are not going anywhere!

‼️Not Bad‼️

By Beau888 |

Located in a quite little out of the way street in the prestigious area of Buckhead is a cute French styled bistro perfect to take someone on a dinner date. I especially enjoyed the moule moulinier prepared in a white sauce. While I didn’t sit outside under a plastic cover otherwise open in the warmer days it did look especially inviting and will sit there the next time I go to dine. The interior is a bit cramped and a little to dark to my liking it is not noisy and adequate for the task. While not especially objectionable the waiters and waitresses are somewhat amateurish but polite. All in all some place to return to and sample other dishes.

Miserable two-and-a-half hours

By GlobalExec |

What looked like a fun evening, with patio seating, turned into a nightmare. First the patio acoustics were horrible and everything we attempted to say (very bad choice for a business dinner) was drowned out by a group six obnoxious patrons seated right next to us. Combine that with a bachelorette party two tables away, and the noise was excruciating. As the food, the strip steak was tough and grizzly and the accompaniment of some form of rubbery mushrooms and limp white asparagus was cold and flavorless. If not for the honeycrisp bread pudding being fairly decent...the entire evening would have been an absolute disaster.

Unforgettable Evening!

By Pam M |

After reading reviews from Tripadvisor, I decided to try this restaurant since I've been wanting to try some good French food and was also looking for a unique place for my husband and I to spend our 5 year anniversary. I found both things I was looking for and more. We got a few appetizers to try but the best was the mussel plate. Our server gave us champagne to toast each other which was such a wonderful gesture and made the occasion so much more special. Our server was above par-very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wines offered. She helped me choose just the right wine to go with my meal. Afterwards we wanted cappuchinos and our server brought us a dessert sampler plate that was pure heaven. They are very gracious and go out of their way to make sure your special night is perfect. I hope to come back here on our 10th and 20th anniversary. <3

French goodness

By GeorgiaRed |

We recently visited Anis with some friends. The ambiance is quite casual and quaint. The food is fabulous! I ordered the beef short rib tortellini. So amazing. If I wouldn't have looked silly, I would have licked the plate! They also have amazing creme brûlée. Just wow. It is a smaller portion than you would imagine so I wouldn't share! They do have valet parking so you don't have to worry about finding a parking place.

Fantastic dinner - beyond expectations

By uptownZEE |

The place was recommended to us by locals so we had some expectations. Especially after a huge let down at an - allegedly decent - restaurant the night before. And wow! The food was incredibly tasty. I had the pork chop. It was so tender and juicy. The asparagus and the fingerling potatoes were perfectly cooked. My colleagues had anything from Ribeye to short ribs ... everyone thought their meal was amazing. Although I did not have dessert, my colleagues did, and I've never seen their faces so happy and content after the first bite. Creme brûlée varieties, the sorbet, and flourless cake - a dream. Skip the 'swanky' restaurants on Peachtree Rd in favor of Anis. You won't regret it.

Excellent

Enjoyed good wine great food and fantastic service. Scallops and short ribs were the favorites. Appreciate the great hospitality as well

Unbearably Loud Patio Dining

By Katie G |

I have loved Anis in the past but our visit this week was ruined by the EXTREMELY loud noise from patrons on the patio. I'm not sure how this could be fixed - perhaps there are sound dampening devices/foam that could be added. There was not any one table that was the problem, but the patio was full and the noise was insane. We could not hear each other speak at our small table for three. The food was very good and service was fine.

I just wish I had known about this YEARS ago!! IT'S FABULOUS!!!

By LauraDockery |

What a gem! A small French Bistro on a quaint street near great shopping! The atmosphere is charming and cozy. It's very quiet. And the food....WOAH! Our table tried a special of panko crusted chicken with arugula and artichoke salad. The salad was beautifully dressed with a light lemony viniagrette. The artichokes were freshly steamed (not out of a can or jar) JUST wonderful. We had mussels in a light white wine broth, the pomme frites, and a salad Nicoise. Everything was delicious. I can't WAIT to go back!

Great service and decent food

By seven21 |

This is a charming old house turned into a French Cafe and Bistro in the heart of Buckhead. The service was the best part of the experience -- our server (didn't catch her name) was attentive and extremely accommodating / helpful. We are both picky eaters, so the menu options were limited. I kind of expected this given it is a French restaurant, but was hoping they had more options for apps. Not big on the mussels, snails, squid, foie gras, rabbit, etc. The salads we ordered worked and for entrees we had the Salmon and Yellowfin Tuna. Both were tasty -- good, but not great. The dessert was amazing -- the chocolate mousse (with strawberries) and orange / mimosa sorbet. Overall, a nice Sunday dinner. The prices don't quite match the atmosphere in my opinion, but I'd likely go back for brunch in the near future.

wonderful find

By allensjewelers |

A friend told me to try Anis when he heard I was going to Atlanta and boy am I glad he did. Anis is my new favorite place, right up there with my favorite steakhouse Bones. The food was outstanding and I will tell you right now get the Mussels appetizer they are to dye for, the broth is wonderful using the French bread. Our server was very good, helped us decide on a few items and we were very pleased. The atmosphere is very casual which was appreciated. We will be going back.

Delicious!

Decided to eat here on my last day. Me and my wife loved it. Stream was great. We highly recommend this place.

Great neighborhood restaurant

By Colleen R |

We have dined here for years. The owner, Arnaud , usually welcomes us as at the door and we catch up with him for a few minutes. The food is always spectacular, and the service is on point. Very traditional French. We’ve always had great meals here and suggest saving room for dessert. The bread pudding is fantastic. You can sit on the patio year round, and note, there is a very private side patio if you’re looking for a more intimate setting.

What a great night !

By KimP |

As always excellent food, atmosphere and service Even made some new friends ( Claudia and Tim ) as they sheltered at our table from a short rainstorm and ended staying and eating with us. Lunch was great on Wednesday too!

Expected something else

By Rich N |

Nice decor, pleasant service, valet parking, seating outside was very nice on the day we visited. My problem with the restaurant is that at least the dishes I ordered were not what was expected. I ordered Coquilles St Jacques as an appetizer and I've never had this dish cooked this way. If you're expecting a baked gratinee type of scallop dish, you'll get something quite different. The menu description is accurate (pan seared scallops), just don't expect the usual recipe. Likewise, the Boeuf au Poivre was a nice cognac sauce, which is one approach to the dish, not the cream based peppercorn sauce I think most people expect. The food was all very good and liked by everyone at our table. But do ask questions about the food preparation or you might be surprised.

Wonderful, Amazing, Charming Place

By Shannon Kenny |

Happened upon this bistro while walking around the neighborhood with my son, who just moved to the area. We dropped in for a glass of wine on the beautiful open air patio and decided to return the next night for dinner. Jeresy took very good care of us. The food was fabulous and the price point was perfect! This is a new favorite for sure.

Excellent Lunch!

By KarenofSH |

We were in Atlanta recently for the weekend, visiting from Florida and wanted to enjoy a special lunch in Buckhead as we previoiusly lived in Atlanta and missed the restaurants Atlanta has to offer. A freind suggested Anis. We were greeted by Arnaud as we entered and he gave us a quick overview of the place and offered us the opportunity to look around. It was a beautiful, pleasant day so many guests were seated outside. We chose a table just inside, but overlooking the outdoor patio. Perfect spot! We were waited on by April who took really good care of us and we had a very nice meal. We ordered a nice bottle of Chardonnay which was brought with some very good crusty French bread and butter. I had the Lunch Plateau and Hubby had the Croque Madame. Both were excellent choices. Highly recommend!

Another great Dinner!

By James D |

Got there at 6.45 on a Friday night before the crowd poured in. Literally made reservation on open table 30 mins before. I had the beef short rib ravioli, and I cannot remember what my wife had. Everything we have ever had there was really good. Service was excellent and the ambiance was pleasant. We will definitely go again.

A delightful, unpretentious French dining experience

By John D |

Anis is a sublime French restaurant tucked away on a quiet side street in the heart of Buckhead. A must visit if you want a quiet, pleasant, classic dining experience. Pricing is quite reasonable; outdoor space is large and delightful on a nice day, and it is a great destination for a romantic, understated outing with a date or spouse.

Hidden Gem

By J B |

This is a surprising find tucked away in a Buckhead neighborhood. A very good French bistro with plenty of outdoor seating, great prices and great food.

Disappointing Meal and Atmosphere

By traveler6Atlanta |

Six of us dined at Anis Cafe & Bistro last night and not one of us thought the food or atmosphere was up to par. Anis has a large patio which they enclose with sheets of plastic in the winter. Space heaters are placed around the enclosed area. Even wearing a sweater, I was cold. Anis, admittedly, is very popular and the sound level was such that we could not easily hear one another at the table. The six of us ordered different entrees no one was pleased with his not inexpensive meal. The service was really below par. We were never asked, for example if we wanted another glass of wine. They were crowded however and probably short of sufficient staff. All in all, the check was quite large, and our enjoyment lacking for this popular restaurant.

I must be missing something!

By R.. |

We recently returned to Anis for the first time in many years. The patio is still lovely and service was fine, but the food was uniformly mediocre. There were 4 of us and we tried different things, but none of it lived it up to expectations. Given the rave reviews on TripAdvisor we expected something special. Maybe an off night in the kitchen so we'll try it again.

Rustic French

By Charles M |

Rustic French setting. Nice patio dining weather permitting. Limited menu but covers the basics. Good wine selection. Small bar area, get a table. Nice place to sit back, relax with a glass of wine. Neighborhood setting off main streets.

Delightful dining experience

By N B 3 |

My first visit to Anis and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A French bistro concept, great dining room, patio dining, cozy bar scene, fabulous, fun decor. The menu is interesting and French, a great wine list. I had Saumon à La Poêle-pan-roasted salmon, Roquefort risotto, julienne endive, pear, saba vinegar Roquefort slaw on top, absolutely delicious. For dessert-creme Brulee-perfect, chocolate mousse-divine! A great place for a quick lunch or elegant dinner, highly recommend.

Always great food and service

By KH26 |

Excellent food and great service. The service is always friendly, efficient and really helpful with lost of advice. The food is fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. The daily specials are always innovative and unusual but great combinations.

Lunch with an old friend

By SBGOZA |

Very quaint but elegant French Bistro. The wait staff speak French so it was a pleasure to listen to how they described the dish. True French cuisine. Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches with French sauces and cheeses. You will not be disappointed.

Birthday dinner

By 722irinar |

We were not impressed with food. It was less than average. The steaks specia ( rib eye) was tough The grouper special was dry Our waiter was great but it took a long time to get water and bread to the table. It was like our table was invisible. The waiter assistant stuff ignored us even after we asked several times. We would not go back.

Great food, mediocre service

By creebol |

The food here was terrific. The menu was upscale and offered French specialties like snails, mussels, and beautiful deserts. The service was okay, not great. Our waitress was not personable and seemed inconvenienced by our requests. I was dissapointed that the busboys wore t-shirts, expected more from a French restaurant. Very good quality food. Hopefully their service will improve.

Parisian jewel in Atlanta

By stevesottl |

I was in town for business and met some local friends for dinner at Anis. What a delight. It has the feel and ambience of a country bistro in France. The menu is traditional, but superbly executed. The swordfish special on a bed of white bean and lobster salad was excellent. The creme brulee was sublime. Great wine list. This is a small plane and it gets crowded, even on weekdays.

Great food and atmosphere

By Colleen R |

We eat at Anis at least one a month. It is always bustling and the food is great. It is authentically french, with a great wait staff. i enjoy the chicken and my boyfriend gets the trout, which is equally good.

Tucked away in a little house in Buckhead...

By JoansSavannah |

discover the Anis Cafe & Bistro...a charming gem amidst the skyscrapers towering above it. Most of the restaurant is in the courtyard, cloistered from the chill by canvas and eisenglass. The specialty is mountain trout, in a beurre blanc with capers and artichoke hearts...yum! You'll love the energetic ambience of young, with-it Atlantans.

Loved It and Will Definitely Return

By Classicsmjr |

A friend and I had dinner there this past weekend and loved it. We split the mussels, the snails and octopus. They were all wonderful. The service was good and we sat in the front in the covered front area. It was a beautiful Saturday evening and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. The mousse was also divine. I will absolutely return.

Anis Cafe & Bistro...Very French, enchanting offerings

By Mike R |

Anis Cafe feels very French...the setting, the environment and the welcoming attitude of the waitstaff. Classic bistro fare such as Steak au pommes frites and a variety of quiche (s) are featured, but so is the fresh grilled trout ( yum). A goodly selection of domestic and imported wines and beers are available both at the cozy bar area as well as in the dining areas. We were delighted to discover Anis as we navigated Atlanta's hilly winding roads.

Very good to excellent French bistro for lunch

By H S G |

Food: 4-4.5/5 Varied menu with delicious fish choices for lunch. Very popular with local residents and shoppers in Buckhead. Service: 5/5 Friendly, helpful and prompt. Decor: Enclosed patlo with inside dining room available. Parking: Complementary parking available as well as on the street. Price: $$-$$$, good value. Wine list

Fabulous! will return soon

By bhoefener1 |

This is an absolutely great place! They close late, need to update the hours. Atmosphere is pretty with many many flowers in pots, outdoor seating, not too loud from other conversations, even though 90% full. They have live music on Thursday, which is when we will return. The service was fast and great. The food was impeccable and very nicely presented, wish I took a photo, there was literally nothing left on either of our plates. Porkchop and braised beef with homemade ravioli were the 2 choices. Great wine list too. Pic was 9p, sorry about the darkness but wanted you to see.

Horrible Service

By Larsa |

The hostess (a male) completely forgot about my party of two. When we politely asked a different server to locate our forgetful server, the new server graciously took our orders instead. Later we saw our original server giving the utmost respect and quality service to another table nearby. Unfortunately, our original hostess never came by to apologize for the 20-minute wait after we were seated for our dinner reservation. If he did not want to serve us then he could have saved us time and money instead of being dismissive towards us throughout the remainder of our dinner experience. Needless to say, we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant going forward.

Good atmosphere but overpriced

By chriswAtlanta |

A plain chicken breast, green beans and mashed potatoes for $26. Too much sorry. Nice location though.

Totally reliable and Charming Bistro

By Stephen C |

We keep going back, despite the hundreds of alternative restaurants in Atlanta, this is one of our favorites. The quirky seating areas, the chalkboard specials all add ambiance to the experience. The moules frites are a must have dish.

Delightful Dinner

By suz |

We did reserve a table as this is an oft frequented restaurant. It was filled on a week night and we had hoped for outdoor seating but it was not available. A good reason to return. The waiter was so professional and offered numerous wine choices based on our taste. The meal was excellent as was the charcuterie. It is a place we must return to and try more menu items. Loved it!

Beyond amazing service~

By mary t |

From the minute we made the reservation through the entire meal Anis was extraordinary. We had a very large party - family from NY - and every request ( there were many!) was met with a smile. Special shout out to Jenny and the restaurant manager who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Jenny knew what we needed before we did! Not to mention to food - the mussels, yes! Fabulous holiday meal. Thanks,Anis!!

French in name only

By Luv2Travel_Go |

This cluttered, shabby "shack" is not really French in ambiance or food. It's over-priced, lacking in authenticity & is not a good value, particularly due to the small portions. That being said, the food was fresh but basically American.

Consistently Good!

By JBT2 |

Those steamed mussels are the best in town. Continues to have a local crowd. Classic french cuisine. Never disappoints.

We had a great dining experience....again!

By Traveler T |

It has been years since we last dined at Anis Cafe & Bistro. This was our first trip traveling again this year. Like many travelers we had decided to stay home. Our trip to Atlanta went very well. Anis brought back great memories and did not disappoint us. We had a reservation.. I'm not sure if you could have gotten a table that night without one. We were pleased with the opportunity to dine outside, and equally impressed by how well the Staff and guests ( well, except one guy) followed Covid 19 safety guidelines. The entire experience ( atmosphere, servers and especially the food) were outstanding. And, the restaurant was full. We will be back next trip.

Great little French Restaurant in Buckhead

By beefydoc |

On recent trip to Atlanta my wife and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner here. It's reasonably priced and the food and drinks are delicious. The restaurant is in an old house with wonderful atmosphere. The front yard is covered and so they have plentiful indoor and outdoor seating. I travel to Atlanta once or twice a year, and this will be a regular stop from now on on my trips to Georgia's capital. The Anis Cafe & Bistro is a little off the beaten path in Buckhead, but well worth the visit.

Wonderful al fresco dining

By sfinestone |

My wife and I had not visited Anis for about a year. We hope that will not happen again. Had we forgotten how delightful dinner there could be? We began with a drink at the bar with a delightful bartender who told us the duck special was not to be missed. We dined outside and enjoyed mussels and duck breast, both prepared perfectly. Add an excellent and reasonably priced Bordeaux and it was magic. We vow not to wait long before returning.

Great French-style Bistro

By Jay G |

This is a hopping bistro in an old house in a residential neighborhood. The owner is an actual French chef and the plates are quite good. Be sure to have reservations as it is always packed. Very crowded and noisy, but decent food.

Great place for a Team Meeting

By Robin S |

Last night a group of work colleagues (seven of us) went to Anis ... we were looking for not just good food, but good atmosphere. Our reservations were for 6:00 and when we arrived at 5:45, they had already set us up with a table in a more private area - awesome for actually visiting with each other (quiet area). Our waiter Dali was phenomenal ... everyone tried different entrees - myself the grilled pork chop, others tried the salmon, lamb, duck, and special (cod). All of the food was beautifully presented, plenty to eat, and very tasty. Wine list was nice too. A really good find for future meetings and date night with my hubby.

Wonderful environment

By Ch F |

We sat outside..... excellent evening! Salmon was awesome! Only downfall is the parking. Would like more spacing for parking. Wait staff was attentive and paid attention to detail.

A Great Lunch

By Jeffrey D |

We had a large group of over 30 people. They gave us a three course meal with choices. Everyone was served at the same time. The staff was very attentive. The food was great. I had the Salade d'Arnaud, Moules Frites and ended it with the Creme Caramel.

Not a restaurant I would recommend

By alvinmc67 |

what a disappointment. The food arrived cold. The steaks were not prepared as ordered. Service horrible. The beef tortelini left a bad taste in my mouth. I had ordered glass of wine which the wait staff forgot to bring. Not someplace I would recommend.

The Best

By BeverlyB638 |

My son , his fiancé and myself ate here. First the mussels are fabulous!! Cooked to perfection...we all,had the special of the day which was fish...or rather melt in your mouth lunch.. Truite meunière a trout pan roasted, with artichokes lemon butter. And of course wild mushroom soup. No room for dessert but plenty of room for wine. Service impeccable and atmosphere very European.. This I highly recommend

Nice , but limited vegetarian

By Rebecca G |

We had a delightful lunch here. 3 of us are pescatarians so the seafood options were good for us. 3 of us had fish that was prepared very well and quite tested. I was disappointed when I asked about vegetarian options. The answer was to sort of put together sides and leave out items.

Disappointed

By criteak |

Food just unremarkable, service mediocre, staff too casual, borderline sloppy, flying insects in main dining room, does not look clean.

Always Rocking It!

By mctopham |

If you haven’t visited Anis Cafe & Bistro, make sure to put it on your list!!! I have been three times now, and every time I leave with all the Feels!🙌☺️ From the atmosphere to the food, it all makes for a wonderful and memorable dining experience. What we ordered: Charcuterie Board 👌 Braised Beef Short Rib Tortellini 👌 Fish Special 👌

Great french food

By SakuraCat |

This is one of the best french restaurants I have ever been to. The food is wonderful and the service is great. It also has a nice atmosphere although a little small. My experience at Anis was great in both lunch and brunch!

Rude hostess ! Terrible service

By medeixa |

I have been to this place 3 times and it was lovely until this visit , when we were hosted by Katie . She should not be working in hospitality , very rude woman . We had a reservation and we were made to feel that we did not have one . She forced us to seat inside otherwise we would not eat brunch because they were getting close to 2 pm and Katie had to close the restaurant. Really ???! Mind you had a reservation( outside seating confirmed ) at 1pm and arrived on time . She was very rushed , and frantic , running around and yelling at people , including guests . Not acceptable. I will not return to your restaurant nor recommend it , because of the environment that Katie created and is treating your clients . Absolute , uncomfortable experience! Food is good but worth to return visit!!!

Charming with good food

By Kasu17 |

Dined on a Sunday evening. Seated outside in the well covered patio. Despite warm temps, it was comfortable and no need for fans blowing. Service was attentive and not rushed. Scallop appetizer very good. Calamari was plentiful but didn't arrive hot. Roasted halibut special was generous in portion size and tasty. Moist in thicker parts although thin end part was a little dry which is understandable. Pork chop entree pretty good as well. Dessert tended to French specialities. Waiter described profiteroles as puff pastry with ice cream but I found in more like brioche dough than a puff pastry. Nice enough for a Sunday evening.

Top marks for atmosphere and tastes

By aperry932 |

Tucked away on a little side street in Buckhead, Anis Cafe and Bistro fits the bill of a quaint French bistro with authentic bistro cuisine. After having been to similar bistros in Paris and other parts of the world, this place has a very cozy and comforting feel to it that reminds me of some of those far away spots. The service was excellent, and everything we ordered, from salads, to mussels, to a superb filet, were all delicious. I noticed on the menu that they had a large bowl of mussels as an appetizer for the table, but since my wife doesn't eat mussels, they agreed to make a smaller, tapas-size portion just for me. We've already decided to return soon so that we can try some of the other dishes that we didn't get to enjoy on our initial visit. Highly recommended!

Ecelctic atmosphere, great food

By littlerocky5 |

Highly recommend the mussels, they are a very authentic recipe. All main dishes had very good flavor, patio is dog friendly. Not a cheap meal but great value for great food and very quiet un-intrusive service.

A real bistro

By CBAndrewB |

Open air seating with unique bistro atmosphere. One can sit inside or on the covered patio. Simple tasty food. I'm eating veggies and they prepared a bountiful plate of back choy, spinach, heirloom tomatoes, carmelized onions, asparagus, and beans. Parents enjoyed sweet scallops. With mixed greens. Bumping.

My Birthday.....Awesome Experience.

By HTBMartin |

My birthday dinner night was amazing thanks to a great little jazz ensemble....loved it! The food was fabulous. I don't eat steak very often but I was so pleased I chose this restaurant to order it. We had a great waiter and a nice patio experience here at Anis. All the others in friend group said their entree's were wonderful. I will be back....

Lovely little French styled cafe in heart of Buckhead

By BigWooly |

We went on a Sunday evening and the place was busy, but it was laid back and casual. They had a very good menu and both our meals were well presented and tasted even better. Our waitress wasn't that great but that was easy to over look. Will certainly visit next time I'm in Atlanta.

Top top tops in ||Atlanta

Dining on the patio with all the perfect servers, food ambiance..The treat of Atlanta!!! Each dish exquisetly designed...Just about the perfect size and a stunning menu. I am a big fan of Anis Adrienne

Family Birthday Celebration

By gapeachMiddleGeorgia |

Adorable place to dine within a residential/ business area, formerly a residence . We were celebrating my nephew’s 40th birthday on Sunday.Child friendly, efficient, friendly staff and delicious food.Alcohol available for the adults. The Sunday brunch had a variety of breakfast type entrees as well as salads, pasta and sides. Prices reflect typical pricing found in the area. Valet parking was a plus as it was pouring rain!

Birthday Lunch

Very accomodating, food was excellent and they offer Great desserts. We sat outside and even thou it was unpleasant weather we were very comfortable.

We eat at Anis often, and always remain "regulars"

By Jim K |

This is the go to place for French in Buckhead. It is always good, consistent, and the atmosphere is the best around. A local favorite!

Terrific outdoor venue

By nlman1985 |

Took a client/friend to dinner. We were one of first to arrive at 6pm but it was hopping when we left. Good people watching and vibrant scene. Service was good. The corn meal dipped calamari was very good. Dining companion enjoyed his steak while I thought the salmon was excellent though just a bit small. For dessert, we had the profiteroles, which were great as expected. Great choice for dinner.

A Fun Brunch Experience with Good Food

By soitgoes14 |

We had brunch here for the first time over the weekend and enjoyed the experience. When you pull up they do offer valet parking, but it can get busy. You can also look for street parking, but the streets get busy quickly. The inside is nice. It does not feel too stuffy or fancy, but also does not come off as too low key either. For brunch on Sunday it was very busy. I would suggest a reservation and just know that it is very loud. The service was a little slow but the waiter was apologetic. They were just very busy at that time. There is some fresh bread and butter on the table to tide you over while you wait. I had a bloody mary and thought it was fine. For brunch I opted for a crepe. I had their Facon Croque Madam. I thought it was fine, though personally I’d probably opt for the sandwich version of it next time as I did not think the crepe was anything special. I feel I may have just ordered wrong because everyone else was very happy with their food. I enjoyed the atmosphere and thought my food was good, just not great. I’d like to come back and try some other menu items.

Wonderful place for family brunch

By 452susanv |

A large group of about 18 adults and children met for Sunday brunch recently and had a delightful meal. Everyone got something different because the menu is broad and there was truly something for everyone, from traditional brunch items to salads to French sandwiches and more. The specials were intriguing and the desserts were delicious. I have eaten at this restaurant in the past and continue to enjoy it. The wine was also very nice. Service was a little slow - our table wasn't ready on time either but when you have such a large group, it's easy to be understanding!

What is there not to love about Anis?! You can't beat sitting on their patio on a beautiful Atlanta day. The food and service is outstanding.

Hidden Gem..

By palletsu |

I have been coming to this quaint little French Bistro for about 15 years, and I must say it is one of those "under the radar" gem of a restaurant. This house turned into a restaurant has a very warm and inviting décor where you want to kick off your shoes and enjoy one of their great bottle of Batard-Montrachet with perfectly cooked salmon salad which is what I did on my recent visit for brunch. We ordered their infamous mussels, escargot, roasted salmon and hanger steak; everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right without being salty or too buttery. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner or a fun brunch gathering with friends!

What a find!

By Melanie T |

What a find, service was excellent and the food very very good, very relaxing atmosphere loved it. Sat outside on a warm evening, it’s in a nice area

Charming and First Rate

By sfgfiat |

We were at Anis on a beautiful afternoon and enjoyed the experience completely. The location does have the real feel of an outdoor bistro and achieves that in the middle of busy Atlanta. All of our selections were excellent and the staff was very nice and very prompt. We look forward to our next visit.

Lunch

By Lyn N |

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere! The food was excellent also. Will return again and again when I'm in Atlanta which will not be too often so will not tire of it!

Delightful Luncheon

By ukcat62 |

My first time at this cute restaurant which is pretty much hidden away on a little side street off of very busy Pharr Road in Buckhead. I was hosting 2 grandchildren and their spouses (or in one case, spouse to be). The menu though not extensive offered a bit of something for everyone. I personally would recommend the Anis Lunch Plateau. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the artichoke/tomato salad very nice. Can't say very much about the soup de jour which was so bland as to be almost tasteless. Others had the Boudin Grillé, Tortelloni Noix et Sauge, Ravioli aux Champignons Sauvages and Tartare de Tomate. All were pleased with their meals. My only real complaint is that it is very noisy. Not sure what could be done acoustically since we ate on the covered porch/patio. I would definitely go back and would recommend this restaurant. Complimentary valet parking is a real plus as parking on this little side street is practically non-existent.

Mediocre food for french restaurant

By GALE Y |

I expected more from a French restaurant. Not exciting menu. free range chicken - salmon- steak with frites????? The escargot were divine.. but I had to send my steak back as it was not medium but rare. Not what I expected for a upscale restaurant . Wait staff was dressed more than casual with shorts and Hawaiian print shirts. Roquefort risotto was delicious with my steak. . Wine list was extensive but not to our palate.

Great spot and nice ambience

On point drinks and service. Late night looking for a drink. Beautiful spot. Tracy was an amazing server

Big disappointment

I am European myself and was looking forward to some French atmosphere . The Server not to interested in customer ,ordered the most expensive dish the beef on the menu ,very little on plate even the potatoes that normally do not cost much to add .

Mixed bag-3 1/2 stars

By StevenHScher |

My wife & I sat outside on the side of the house. It's a cute old house, nice & cozy. The patio in front was very crowded & to me didn't appear safe for social distancing. Our table was perfect for Covid 19, with no table to close to us. I had a hard time finding a menu item to order which I liked. My wife & I started with the calamari ($10), which was excellent. It was very likely "dusted" with corn meal. My wife had the salmon ($26), which was served with risotto. She enjoyed the salmon & risotto & took some home. I had the braised short ribs ($26), which was served with tortelloni. The dish was large. The short ribs meat was okay, it was kind of pulled beef & a bit overcooked. The tortelloni was good. I wound up taking some of the tortelloni home. Our server Seth was okay. He spent a lot of time at the table near us & was not available when we needed him a few times. Not sure I will return, I was a bit disappointed.

Wow! This restaurant is a hidden gem! This was our second visit and it was incredible. The mussels were yummy as were the salmon and halibut special

Great food

By CRLsrating |

The food and service were great. The calamari was very flavorful. The creme brulee was also excellent but could have been a little bigger portion. The biggest problem is the parking. The have complimentary valet, but it is almost impossible to get in and out.

A great neighborhood find!

By timfromnj |

We were visiting our son, who moved to Buckhead in May, and found two great restaurants within walking distance of his apartment. I have reviewed both, and recommend both, which are Anis Cafe & Bistro and Aria. Anis Cafe and Bistro belongs in Fort De France, but is certainly a welcome restaurant in Atlanta. It is on a quiet street, away from traffic. The dining room is small, but it has a huge outdoor, but covered, patio for dining. The menu offers great French dishes and the three of us enjoyed our meals. The wine list is nice and the service was excellent. We were there on a Sunday night and the noise level, considering we were on the patio, was fine. I had the Coquilles St. Jacques, followed by the duck confit, and finished with the cheese plate. All were excellent! I highly recommend Anis Cafe & Bistro if you are looking for excellent French dining while in Buckhead. It is a little Fort De France in Atlanta!

Making the pilgrimage since 1999.

By traveler747 |

We’ve been making the pilgrimage to Anis since 1999; most recently June 2017. The restaurant is highly recommended. Year after year, the owner, Arnaud Michel, continues with his successful, consistent delivery of French style and cooking. It’s like a trip to the French countryside without jet lag. Informal, with interior and outside tables, it is impossible not to be immediately relaxed, even after Buckhead traffic and before cocktails. We’ve also hosted a couple of big events at Anis, and Arnaud has made them all hugely successful. Recommended are the calamari frit, tartare de tomate, truite meunière, and especially the boeuf au poivre. Bon appétit.

Best lunch/dinner in atlanta-great prices for quality

My friend and I having been going for years. Always delicious and great service. Excellent wine. We never vary, always salmon salad. Very reasonable for high quality. and decor. Today, we both oicked up to go bean/truffle soup , delicious. I love this place, I'm an a atlanta/buckhead native. The place was full on mon liunch. make reservations. You will not be disappointed.

Fathers day brunch

By beachbabestan |

This restaurant was excellent. Their brunch was great and the service too. You must make reservations in advance. They have indoor seating and the outdoor is very quaint. If its not a hot day in Atlanta its ideal to seat outside. The most important thing is to make reservations way in advance. Prices were good.and great egg benedict!

Very good food

By Diana_T_501 |

Went with a group of friends for Saturday lunch before a Christmas Concert. Service was a little slow but we were not a very organized group so no real complaint with the staff. I had the trout in brown butter and it was delicious. Steak Frites were ordered by several in our group and all cooked properly to order. Salmon sandwich also delicious. Nice calarmi as an appetizer. Tad disappointed in the cranberry bread pudding. It had been recommended but I found it heavy and not up to the standard of the rest of the food which was excellent. Would recommend this restaurant

‘OK’ food, slow service

By John D |

Lots of waiting, including for drinks and to have our order taken. I had the scallops appetizer which were served lukewarm. Duck special was nothing special. Server was pleasant but maybe too busy. I won’t go back. If you want good French food in Buckhead, go to Bistro Nikki.

Always a great meal

The perfect spot for a little Paris in Atlanta we have been going here for years. Always delicious and great atmosphere.

Great food, ambiance, service

By Fitzroytraveller |

Have been to Anis three times during my week long stay in Atlanta. The food is very good. Lovely old building, lots of charm and style and very good service, if perhaps a bit "snotty", esp the male waiters. Really enjoyed the salmon, had a swordfish special that was delicious, great calamari and excellent cheese platter. good wine list too

Lovely French bistro

By 518ATLCouple |

Today we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in Atlanta with a delicious lunch. The Mahi special was excellent as was the Milanese chicken with salad and the lunch platter with salmon. We devoured our food and because it was one of our party's Birthday we were treated to a lovely sampling of all of the desserts. Will be back again soon.

Very nice for lunch

By danrmj |

Had a relaxing lunch there on a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside. It was a great day for one of their excellent salads and a glass of wine and we topped it off with cream puffs for dessert. Take advantage of the free valet parking.

Excellent food and service. Seated immediately on a Monday evening. Highly recommend the place. You will not be sorry.

Conversation friendly

By David C |

A nice place with good and varied food and wines (did not sample other drinks except water), in American "French" style, with efficient and friendly service and acoustics that even allow people to talk to each other directly! Not overly pricey and altogether a pleasant dining experience

Unusual setting but the food is good

By ME |

I was a little surprised to find out the restaurant was in a converted house. It was a bit of a turn off at first but once I got over that part the food was good. The Plum Tomato and Crab soup was fantastic as was the Escargot. Skate was the catch of the day and it was okay. I would have like a bit more spices. My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. They surprised us at the end with a free dessert platter to share. Nice touch.

Fabulous Dinner at Anis

By somewhereingeorgia |

I don't go to this restaurant frequently because it is not close by, but I try to hit it at least once a year. Last night's service and food were very good and we loved sitting on the patio in 70 degree weather. There is free valet right at the front door, and street parking available, too. Why did I take off 1 star? Entering and exiting walkways are very uneven and even possibly dangerous. It seems to be the result of adding on to the initial space.

Fabulous French Restaurant!

Delicious food and such a great atmosphere! It’s hard to believe my husband and I just discovered this gem of a restaurant. Wonderful service with fabulous French food. We are looking forward to enjoying many more meals here.

Favorite Atlanta Restaurant

Whenever I visit Atlanta to see friends and family I always try to include a meal at Anis. The menu has a limited selection, but everyone finds something to dine on. The food and service is always great and consistent.

Wonderful Sunday Brunch

By AtlantaJim |

To start with, we're not normally brunch people. We were looking for a new, to us, restaurant for our 45th wedding anniversary, and we'd already decided on French. We found Anis using a Google search for nearby restaurants. While looking at the menus we discovered that they had multiple omelets and other tasty and less bulky items on their brunch menu than were evident on their lunch and dinner menus. BTe careful about when you come, though. Their brunch is Sunday ONLY! This fact isn't mentioned anywhere on their Web site, EXCEPT in the hours section. In Atlanta it's become customary in recent years for local restaurants to hold brunch on both Saturday and Sunday, but not here. Saturday was the actual day of our anniversary, but when we arrived we could only get lunch. We really wanted some of the brunch only items. so we rescheduled to Sunday. That was a good decision. We started with a glass of Montand champagne each, followed by a cup of gazpacho each. We knew the champagne, having tried it at home, and it's quite decent. Susan had the Omelette du Marin and I had the Crab Cake Benedict, with both of us having a glass of Picpoul de Pinet from Languedoc-Roussillon in Southern France. We knew the wine as well, since it was quite common for a while about 15 years ago in Atlanta, since almost disappeared, and we had driven through the very small village of Pinet during that time. It's a very pleasant white. Anyway, both egg dishes were impeccably prepared. The poached egg with my crab cake was done extremely well. The restaurant gave us an exquisite "Birthday Tasting" of several small dessert portions in honor of our anniversary, so that wasn't included in our cost. We topped everything off with two double espressos. Our final bill was right at $100, but the wine accounted for 40% of the bill. No alcohol would have brought it down to about $60. I keep remembering when it was said that having wine was like adding a third person to the bill. This was a bit more than that. Still, we did NOT feel overcharged, and we're very glad we came to the brunch. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and positive, and they made the meal jump from just very good to excellent. We attended on a hot, but not sweltering day, and the covered outdoor seating was comfortable, even though it wasn't air conditioned. They have indoor seating which is air conditioned. They offer live music on Thursday and Friday, and we're seriously considering returning for dinner one day soon.

Great food in a local cafe atmosphere

By Loki2990 |

Anis is a few blocks from our house. So a short walk to a lovely restaurant. There is always a chalk board with specials. The wine list is strong and reasonable. It is always a nice experience. Last time we dined there, I had the Tuna and cauliflower. It was exceptional. There is a good selection of deserts.

Marvelous

By bikecobb |

We so enjoy going to Anis. It's charm is sustained as is the quality of food and service. We went for dinner last evening with dear friends of many years for whom this was their 1st Anis experience. It will assuredly not be their last. Whatever the dish, it and the atmosphere take us to the cafes of Paris. The food is authentically and - by and large traditionally - French, prepared and presented with French panache! I highly recommend this restaurant tucked unobtrusively into a corner of Buckhead whether you are a resident of or visitor to Atlanta.

Tres Bien

By Anne A |

I am so glad I have found this bistro. Great atmosphere, although very noisy on the enclosed patio. I was OK with that. I gave this review a 5 related to the server Seth who was excellent. Service between meals was well timed. I would give a 4 for the food. I feel the escargot appetizer sauce was a little too heavy, flavorful but too thick. My sea bass was cooked to perfection, and it was fun watching my husband “clean his plate” of the duck dish. Portions were not too big, which is a common complaint of mine. For a birthday dinner the complimentary desert plate was delightful. The crème brûlée was bland, and not a smooth custard like I prefer. I will return as there were many entrees on the menu that I would like to try.

Delightful!

By Kate F |

This restaurant was walking distance from the apartment where we were staying. Our hosts hadn't been there but had heard good things about it. Didn't have a reservation on a Friday evening, but they still got us seated fairly quickly. There were four of us, and we collectively had the scallops, house salad, roast chicken, yellowfin tuna, and the special catch of the day. Everything was prepared perfectly, and the freshly baked breads that came before our food were delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat. Reasonably priced, too, for the quality. Only drawback of the evening is that our table was right over an air-conditioning vent, and we were freezing until we put a couple cloth napkins over it. Still wasn't enough to detract from the superb meal. HIGHLY recommended.

service superb, food and beverage great

By mlesser1 |

First time at this house, turned restaurant, on a quiet street in Buckhead...a very nice crowd for a Memorial Day weekend, when you presume everyone is traveling out of town...the service couldn't have been better, as the owner has added runners and busboys, along with the waiters to keep everything moving...the food was excellent; the atmosphere was of a house in Provence; Valet parking was quick...a great experience!

Amazing Experience!

By Butterfly70j |

Dinner at Anis bistro was absolutely incredible. This is a hidden gem nestled in a quaint area. Luis was our server and was extremely attentive and anticipated our needs. The food was impeccable starting with appetizers, calamari, scallops and cheese and ending with sorbet. Will be on our list to visit again anytime we are in town.

EXCELLENT FOOD, Less than attentive service

By MiltonMan007 |

While I would not call this a French restaurant, I would say that it has a French twist. The interior is very eclectic but comes off as warm and charming. DO not forsake the Bread Basket Appetizer! The bread is incredible and like something you would eat in France; the crust is hard and the inside is light and airy. It's served with butter but cries for olive oil and salt to dip in. Having eaten Steak Frites in a myriad of places, this is undoubtedly the best I have tasted anywhere. The cut of the meat is superb (tenderloin?) and wonderfully seasoned and cook. The short ribs and homemade tortellini are equally delicious. Make sure you leave room for dessert; their creme brulee has a custard like appearance and a generous caramelized sugar top.

Authentic and Welcoming

By voyageuse10549 |

Bistro food, reasonably priced, country atmosphere. Delicious merguez, charcuterie, boudins noir, quiche. Very refined and well- researched wine list. Will return on next trip to Atlanta.

A return visit and we were all disappointed

By VirginiaGeorgia |

Lunch at Anis seemed just the right idea after viewing the extraordinary Oscar de la Renta exhibit at SCAD. It was not to be. My soup de jour was barely warm and needed more seasoning and the Moules Mariniere were also barely warm. Another in our party had the Salade Nicoise. Much of the tossed salad was wilted and discolored. She returned her plate and the second salad looked better; when she began to eat it there was much the same problem again. her "green beans" were overcooked and the "tips" had not been removed. Another salad for a member of our party was equally "tired". Two in our party had the Quiche de jour; HUGE pieces! Our waiter never checked with us once he took our order. The restroom did not smell fresh. I want to be fair. Anis was NOT crowded while we were there; valet was friendly, the place is visually as charming as I had remembered it. Here's hoping this was just a bad day. . . .

Huge Disappointment

By YoungOpa |

If the food had not been as poor as the service we might have forced a 3 Star rating, calamari was so salty it was inedible. One of our party asked for his salmon to be lightly seared “ almost raw” It arrived well done. Our waiter was dressed like he was heading to the park to play frisbee, but was so scarce and inattentive it hardly mattered. A scallop dinner consisted of only 4 scallops. For a “French” cafe to not offer bread, but to charge for it if you order it, we left wondering why it was so crowded.

It was "OK", sort of ...

By John Dyer |

Faint praise, it was "OK", I thought $4 for a small basket of not very good bread put me off at first. The escargot were served in a strange to me spicey sauce. The gaspacho was also overly "dilled" for me. My wife is French and was not impressed either. Service was on the slow side, which is not that unusual. We'll keep looking.

Glorious setting, wonderful meal, most of all it was my friends FAVORITE restaurant

By Mac Cheek |

Justin took care of me and my guest from the moment we walked into Anis. He made sure we knew all the specials, he kept our wine glasses full, and he helped 'direct' us to the meals that we would appreciate most. We began with a cup of the tomato bisque, my date had the Anis Lunch Plateau (wonderful!!) and I had the chicken salad sandwich w/o the bread. Everything we ordered was spectacular and the salad greens were probably picked that morning since they were so fresh. We split a crème brulee and sat together on the patio that gave us the feeling of being at home in a wonderful spot in the back yard enjoying each others company. I cannot wait for my next trip to Atlanta to visit Anis, see my friend, and enjoy this 'back yard' patio again!

Ok... not great

By R. K. V. |

Came back after a few years and was mostly dissapointed. Food was just ok .. some of it pretty ordinary in fact.. good wine though.

Mussels from above

By Tim R |

Went there the other night for dinner ordered the mussels. They were Heavenly and the juice was out of this world. Must order the fries to go along with this. Made a for a lovely dinner with my wife.

The best meal I have had in a long time!

By ToniS1111 |

First time here and this restaurant came recommended from many people in Atlanta since we have moved here. It is very close by for us. So happy we have tried it- the best food from any restaurant in a long time and great atmosphere outside- bustling and fun! I had the Salade de Tomaat to start out and it was excellent and my yellow fin tuna was also outstanding. My husband had the gazpacho which was a special for the day and he thought that was great as well as the salmon. The service is fast- no waiting around here! Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for excellent food in Atlanta not far from Buckhead Village and the Lenox area.

Good ambiance and food

By Mimi48NewJersey |

The menu has French style dishes. Service was attentive and wine by the glass was good but expensive. Ask to be seated outside if weather permits it.

Great small French bistro with covered patio dining.

By H S G |

Consistently delicious French bistro with a covered patio for dining outside is a popular lunchtime destination for locals and out-of-towners in the know. Menu changes almost daily. Inside is a dining room but the patio is more popular. Usually a different quiche is offered daily as well as different soup and salad selections. Food: 4-5/5. Service: Friendly, relaxed, helpful. 5/5. Décor: Very attractive and informal. The patio is a personal preference. 4/5. Price: $-$$. Value: 5/5. Would I return? Yes, and I am a repeat customer. Usually I am there for lunch once a month whenever I am in Atlanta, and it's always delicious. Go.

Very interesting place and great waffle

By Gary O |

A last minute choice for Sunday brunch, we called ahead and they said we could be seated right away. There is valet parking and it is well worth the tip. A former bungalow style house that has been expanded with decks and porches. Servers are very helpful and always checking with you. We both ordered the Belgian waffle with a side of bacon. It is served with whipped cream and fresh berries. Everything was delicious! It is a French based menu so it isn’t for everyone but we enjoyed our brunch.

Relaxed and perfect

By paulhally |

Possibly the best place to eat in Atlanta. We shared a tomato and mozzarella salad to start. It was fresh and tangy and a great balance of flavors. My wife had halibut, one of the specials that day, which was delicious and I enjoyed the steak frites, which were perfect and very French. Sharing the degustion de desserts allowed us to sample a taste of several wonderful sweet treats to finish.

Really lovely lunch with friends

Recently met friends for an informal Saturday lunch . Place was packed and lively though not too noisy . Food choices were varied enough for us all to choose from . Potion sizes were fair . Had a very different caprese salad to start . Could have done with a little seasoning . Everyone else enjoyed their main courses The coffee was very good . So often the meal is good but the coffee is poor , this wasn't the case

Very Good Neighborhood French Bistro

By Jim J |

Good neighborhood bistro. Weekends are busy and noisy. Seating available inside and under covered patio. Very good food quality and service. April was our server; knowledgeable and quick and helpful with wine selection. Nice variety of wines. Mussels were OK, but Beef Tenderloin au poivre and Chicken entrees were very good. They bring fresh hot bread upon arriving; EXCELLENT!!! Valet Parking.

Very Good Neighborhood French Bistro

By Jim J |

Casual, comfortable Bistro with ambiance. Seating options are outside (heated in winter), inside, and bar area. Nice menu and wine list variety. Owner managed and frequented by French patrons. Hot rolls are excellent! Scallops St Jacques appetizer, Roasted chicken were good, but Tenderloin au Poivre with pepper sauce was excellent (tender and flavorful), Honey Crisp Bread Pudding was tasty but sparse apple and not a value at $9.00. Valet parking.

Buckhead Bistro

By drinksanddinner |

Wanted to take my partner out somewhere special for a birthday dinner-just the two of us. He was in charge of picking the place and came up with Anis. Neither of us had been, but it turned out to be a total treat! Loved the atmosphere and the location of this gem. We shared the mussels and the salmon carpaccio for starters-both were so good!! He had the trout and I had the pork chop for entrees. I'm not a trout-lover, but he loved it so it must have been good. We were too full to have dessert, but I'm guessing those would've been delicious as well. Great wine selection and the cocktail "pour" was very generous. It was a Saturday night and the place was very lively. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and we will absolutely be back again!

excellent french bistro

By Cecile S |

It was by serendipity that we found this place: after several hours of driving and reaching our hotel we needed a restaurant within walking distance. There were several in the neighborhood and we decided on Anis. It was a warm evening and we asked for a table outside (without a reservation). We got one and from the excellent Kir, scallops appetizer and main course of "loup de mer" (sea bass) to the profiterolles, all dishes were very good. The service was prompt and knowlegeable.

Great food, variety and service

By MartinLCannon |

For second time in a year we had a wonderful dining experience here. There were so many choices, the two of us elected a smorgasbord of mussels, charcuterie, cheese plate, spicy sausage and unique salad which gave us so many fun and delicious tastes. Then we topped it off with the three element dessert - chocolate mouse, creme brûlée and sorbet. Does it get any better than this? The waiter helped us order the proper size portions for our appetite, and I appreciated his not steering us to over order. Can’t wait to come back. A must!

Best French Restaurant in Atlanta

I come to Anis frequently for lunch. I particularly like the Poulet Nono with linguini and the Shrimp al Anis. As is every other dish here, these two stand out as especially flavorful. The mussels are a great appetizer.

Best value in Atlanta

I love this restaurant and have only had great food and service here over the years. I am surprised that there isn't a line going around the building. Classic French bistro with super reasonably priced food and wine. This is a can't miss in Atlanta!

Welcome Back

By sfinestone |

My wife and I were saddened when Anis closed all operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We were absolutely thrilled when they reopened last week and booked a table the first weekend open. From our prior experience we knew that management displayed high sanitary standards, plus we prefer dining in the open patio. It was as good as ever. What a perfect way to enjoy dining after not being in any restaurant for 6 or 7 weeks. We started with martinis that were prepared and served to perfection. We then shared an order of delicious mussels, after which I had the steak frites and my wife ordered the trout. Both dishes were excellent, and enhanced by a nice bottle of Gigondas. We finished by sharing profiteroles. The perfect welcome back to a very safe and delicious dining experience.

Excellent Lunch. Has the Halibut

By Warren K |

Excellent Lunch. Has the Halibut over beets. Guests had the quiche. Service was adequate. I will return.

Best French Cuisine in Atlanta

By David30345 |

Eating here will provide you with one of the best meals in Atlanta. The dinner menu is outstanding and the Tortellini et Boeuf Braisé (braised beef short ribs) is usually my customary order. The trout is also incredible. For an appetizer, the mussels have become one of their signature dishes. The ambience is quaint. Inclement weather forces everyone inside which can become crowded but that just adds to the European flair. Otherwise, the outdoor patio makes for a very romantic dining experience. These privately run, intimate bistros are far too few. I keep my fingers crossed that the success of Anis continues for a long while.

A little French bistro in Buckhead. Love this place. It is my go to place when asked "What is a good restaurant". The atmosphere reminds you of a french bistro in France. The food is excellent. I have never been disappointed. A must visit! Ask for Dali he is the best!

Last minute dinner decision...great meals

This local neighborhood French restaurant is excellent. Everything was well done...great service from Jenny, nice outside table, fantastic menu selections and awesome dinners. We three had the trout (best in recent memory),chicken and tortellioni beef ( short ribs). The reisling wine was just right. Peach bread pudding was the dessert. A perfect evening.

The Perfect Lunch

By Janis M |

This was a lovely lunch. I was treating a volunteer with The American Red Cross to a well deserved lunch. She had the special Mahi Mahi, grilled over greens. I had mushroom ravioli with a wonderful cream sauce. We tasted each others food and both were equally lovely. The service was excellent as was the lovely casual atmosphere. This is one of my very favorite restaurants. This is a go to location.

French Bistro in Buckhead

By Bill M |

I joined my brother in law and his wife who regard this as their favorite local restaurant. We ate on the open patio and Thursday night they had live music in the background which enhanced our dining experience. Each of us had the yellowtail entree which was cooked to perfection. Service was attentive and helpful. Price was expensive but probably not viewed as such by this upscale Atlanta neighborhood.i would return in a heartbeat and my only real regret was that my wife was not with me. The restaurant is a converted house on a side street, so it is a little off the beaten path.

Nice dinner

By CBAndrewB |

Went on Saturday night with 6of us. Sat in enclosed patio with casual setting. A bit loud but great casual bistro atmosphere. Ate mussels and frites as entree, which was filling with salad. Others enjoyed steak, chicken, and pork. Recommended.

Absolutely wonderful

By minimeptc |

I took my son and future daughter-in-law here to celebrate their engagement, and could not have chosen better. We all mussels, which were perfectly cooked, perfectly flavored, and worth the experience themselves. My son had steak which, again could not have been better. My tuna was just right, and my son's fiancé had the salmon which she described as "perfect". If I have any criticism it is with the espresso we ordered with dessert. It was decidedly mediocre, and arrived well before the desserts themselves. Additionally the wait staff did well, but did not measure up to the food. Overall though this was a great dining experience.

nice bistro

By juniperususa |

One of my favorites in Atlanta. A bit on the pricey side, but if it is French, it can't be cheap. Special Kudo for the escargots with Pastis (hence the name Anis I guess).

Lovely Brunch

By dimojam |

Situated in a renovated house, Anis has a bohemian, welcoming feel. My out-of-town guests and I were there for brunch on the Sunday after the tragic ISIS attacks on Paris. The restaurant had decorated the tables with French flags and statues of the Eiffel Tower. There were French-speaking guests seated nearby, and it was easy to construe that this lovely bistro is authentic. The service was attentive and professional, and the food was delicious. Five of six of us had the Eggs Benedict, and we all agreed it was delicious. Desserts were equally fabulous.

Horrible service

By Ellen Jeanette J |

Embarrassing since I suggested this place. Over priced! No knowledge of how to make suggestions and made sure before bringing us bread that it would cost 4 dollars. I wanted to sink into the ground in front of client. I was casual but I am 52 and I guess I looked like I could not afford it (I ordered 3 X17.00 Glasses of wine) but was told $4 extra for bread ... and! I played it off by saying I think I can swing that. Lol I won’t be back unless someone invites me! The waiter was not focused on us at all. I guess I need to dress up next time, I am a successful business woman, don’t go, typical snobs. Mediocre food.

French restaurant with an outside brick patio--Heaven!

By 89frederickl |

Anis does everything right in an old house converted into a charming French bistro restaurant. Mussels in broth, fresh fish specials, fresh and plentiful bread, well-trained and attentive staff, European ambiance, cozy small bar area. Yes, you can tell--Anis is a regular visit for this Atlantan. There is nothing better than dinner or lunch outside on the patio, side porch or inside should the weather be too humid.

Stay away from Anis

By Jill P |

Yesterday I went to Anis with a friend. Our waiter was not masked so I requested that he get a mask. He told me masks were not required and he didn’t have one. I asked if he was vaccinated and he said “no”.I then requested another waiter. I had the Niçoise salad which was ok but I won’t go back again because of lack of safety protocols.

An amazing dinner!

WIth some trepidation, our group of 17 family members came to Anis based just on word of mouth recommendations for an important celebratory dinner. Fortunately, it was one of the best decisions of the whole weekend! The staff were extremely accommodating of our group, which spanned from a baby to octagenarians, and we were seated in a lovely porch area that we had all to ourselves. The servers were amazing--knowledgeable, friendly, appearing just when you needed them--but never intrusive. Having spent a great deal of time in France, I always prepare myself to be disappointed when I go to a French restaurant in this country, but I have to say that everything we had at Anis was spot-on as it should have been. The moules marinieres were fabulous, and the duck confit made me feel as if I were right back in the southwest of France. The excellent wine list, with some reasonably priced French wines you don't always see here, was an extra bonus. And if you follow the classic French advice that you can judge a restaurant by the quality of its poulet roti, you would once again give star ratings to the chef. Desserts were also delicious. There is clear evidence of involved management ensuring a great experience for guests. We can't wait to go back!

A local Atlanta favorite, consistently good

I'm always happy when I leave Anis. The food is great, service attentive and pleasant, atmosphere eclectic and charming. It is not pretentious, Anis delivers a consistent experience and appreciates your patronage. It is known more by local patrons than out of towners and is worth a diversion.

great restaurant

I ate here for a friends birthday dinner. The food was excellent and service was great! The menu had a variety of items and the atmosphere is very cool.

Never Disappoints

Anis never disappoints! We had a tremendous impromptu dinner which was awesome. The service was excellent and engaging. The cheese board and escargot were great openers. Dinner was outstanding, as I highly recommend the salmon. We'll be back for sure....

Sadly, Nothing Special Anymore

Had a business lunch last week at Anis, and The experience was unfortunately a lot different from previous 7–8 previous dining experiences. Overall, the food was just average and nothing special. I had two of the specials, the tomato crab soup and the grouper. The soup was “meh”, not a zesty tomato base but rather a bland tomato taste, with indistinguishable crab. The grouper was lightly sautéed, but did not have much flavor to it. The vegetables (eggplant) underneath the grouper were flavorful, but I was disappointed with the fish. The service was attentive and friendly. I have really liked Anis the previous times we have visited, but last wk was disappointing.

Love it!

This tiny bistro is my go-to any time I have guests from out of town, or just for lunch, brunch, or a glass of wine on a special evening. It is laid back and with a family feel to it (Arnaud and his team hace been in the neighborhood for a while) and yet you get transported to France for a while with their flavours. The setting is gorgeous. A real tiny gem in Atlanta!

What a Wonderful "Special" lunch!

Anis Cafe & Bistro was a delicious & memorable experience. We started with a delightful French beer & Calamari; then the Salade Nicosia & Steak Fries were our main courses. This place is so eclectic, the staff superb & the food was delicious! Then in honor of my husband's birthday, although we were stuffed & had our "doggie boxes"... we shared a sampling of desserts. They even put a single candle on the plate plus when paying the bill, they "gifted" us the dessert which was a lovely, un-expected pleasant surprise. We definitely will return!

Charming and reliably tasty

We were regulars at Anis for years - two or three visits a month. Since we moved and our drive time doubled we still find our way there once a month or so, sometimes just the two of us, often taking friends along. The menu changes seasonally, is not huge but offers variety. Some constants that never fail to please: mussels are as good as anywhere in town, excellent salads generally feature fresh, seasonal ingredients and light dressings, the roasted chicken can't be beat -- regardless of the temperature.

Delightful … top class AUTHENTIC cuisine

AT LAST ! a restaurant that delivers flavors & quality showing they take pride in the dishes they serve. We’re fed up of going to restaurants that deliver food no better than than the average home cook could produce. Anis Cafe & Bistro is like going back pre-pandemic when ingredients, flavors & service made you feel happy. We’ve lived a little North of Anis, in Roswell, for the last six years and are annoyed we have only just discovered this place. We’re already planning to return in a few weeks. All our food was very good to excellent, but a special shout out to the lamb shank with lentils & the tortelloni & braised beef. TWO SUPERB DISHES that would be celebrated in any restaurant in Paris. PS : I never critique other reviews, but I can’t believe the previous review that mentioned this restaurant not being authentic and serving small portions could possibly be for this restaurant. We experienced the complete opposite.

A long time favorite

Anis has been a favorite for over 15 years. Never disappointed when I go there and lunch or dinner is fun. Love the outdoor dining or sitting at the bar. Was there last week and had another great dinner.

Very good!!

Such fabulous food. The patio in the summer time creates a great atmosphere. The escargot was delicious, but prepared unlike we've had before. It was unique. I ordered the soup special which was lobster bisque with squash. It was very good and filling. My father got the duck, and he was so delighted. For desert we had the bread pudding... my favorite new desert! They don't have much of a waiting area other than the bar.

Arranged large(ish) group with fixed menu

I lived in France many years, so I know what to expect from a real french Bistro. Anis Cafe & Bistro lived up to its local reputation. We held a quarterly conference in Atlanta. Local guys suggested this restaurant and I arranged a team dinner there. Very easy to work with Mary to set up the arrangements and choose the selections. She made adaptations to our choices for our "meat and potatoes" guys (Steak Frites). Also, not bad for those who lived in France and need to satisfy their addiction to merguez. Wonderful evening. No surprises. Pricing is correct for a company gathering. I recommend for anyone wanting a touch ofl France.

Very good rest with ever changing specials. Very good wine list and good service. Deserts are not their long suit but most entrees are excellent. Very cozy bar area. Great patio, weather permitting. Weekend live music is nice.

Lunch with a friend

By billsaun |

My friend Dan and I met at Anis in July for lunch and I'm so glad we did. At first I was shocked when I pulled up because from the outside it looks pretty rough, but the food and the service were top notch. Dan lives close by and knows the owner so he did not order off the menu but had them whip up some incredible eggs loaded with cream cheese, salmon and a host of other goodies. Dan recommended the salmon sandwich which I thought was awesome. Dan also highly recommended the Sunday brunch so I have to make the trip from Woodstock one Sunday to check it out.

Perfect in every way

It was a chilly rainy Sunday evening, but the service, food and wine list at Anis Cafe & Bistro warmed us. I had the Tortellini and Boeuf Braise and my Friend had the Boeuf au Poivre. Both were prepared to perfection. Delicious. If I lived in the area, this would by my go-to dining place. A++

Overated

Recommend by someone and not worth a return visit. I had the special lamb of the night which was three strips of overcooked lamb on top of a bitter green of some type. My husband had the scallops, which were average and fried calamari, which was tough. The rest of our party did not thing their dinners were anything great either. Dinner was very expensive. Service was fine. There were four couples and we were allowed to visit and dine with out being rushed which was the best part of the evening meal.

Another home run meal at Anis!

First a shout out to our server, Michelle, who kept the quick wit and ice cold water flowing while we enjoyed another fabulous meal at Anis. Sure, it was warm-outside seating in July is always a little tough but there were dozens of fans to keep a warm breeze blowing and with such a lively atmosphere it was easy to relax into a Southern summer dinner. We decided to do apps and then split a few sandwiches and were able to taste so many things. LOVED the lamb sausage. Salmon sandwich is amazing. But I love everything at Anis!!

Another great meal

My wife and daughter and I appreciated a recent great meal at Anis Bistro; it was our first time back after a visit in 2013. We each enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar with Mary while waiting for our table and were seated on the patio. It is an inviting casual space with heaters to take the nip out of the air. The food was fantastic. Escargot provencale, the charcuterie plat, and merguez lamb sausages were delicious appetizers. The veal porterhouse, beef loin with ravioli, and the boeuf at poivre were excellent mains. Everything was well prepared and the pace was perfect for a relaxing meal. The wine list is varied and has solid options at different price points – there is also a good selection by the glass. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I whole heartedly endorse this fine establishment – you will not be disappointed spending an evening in their fine care.
