Average at best

Followed the reviews and spent time with friends at Antonio's. I suspect we should have ordered the pizza, but we did not. We ordered linguini with clams, cannelloni and spaghetti and meatballs. The cannelloni was over cooked and swimming in meat sauce. House salad was crispy and good and the house Italian dressing was very nice. So, while the wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere nice, it is just not enough to encourage us to go back for another visit.

Authentic

By Sthomson77 |

This looks like an Italian restaurant from the 70's. The red and white checker tablecloths add to the ambiance. Pizza was great but the chicken parmesan was large but fair only. The waiter was excellent, we had a nice time here.

Great local place

By TCBU |

Really enjoyed the food and warm atmosphere. Small authentic Italian joint with personal attention. Great pizza and gnocchi.

Lunch

By Jason D |

The ambience was very nice. Beautiful painted walls, the music was perfect. The pizza was good. I had Canadian bacon the sauce was to my liking and the crust was soft but not doughy. The lasagna was okay, could have been very good but the sauce was to acidic overpowering the rest of the ingredients. The staff was friendly. I would come back and try other items on the menu.

Never disappoints

By kcslatts |

We have been coming here for over 20 years and we always enjoy ourselves. Great atmosphere, great food and service. If you are lucky enough to get Alex as your server she will double your enjoyment with her friendly demeanor. The pizza is fantastic and the caesar is a reason to go there by itself. It is located on Ventura blvd in Sherman Oaks and after a nice dinner you have plenty of places to walk to and enjoy your evening. Hope they never close.

Family Italian gem

By Jim K |

A family friendly Italian restaurant that has a wide variety of gluten free options as well as a great selection of your favorites. Service was excellent, food was fantastic, with large portions and tasty appetizers. Try the risotto balls for a starter. Pizzas are thin crust with plenty of toppings. We will definitely be going back.

Nice Atmosphere Good Food

We have been in search of cannelloni for sometime and Antonio’s came through. Very good - also XL size. Suggest that you share an appetizer, salad and entree. The helpings are quite large. Really good pizza too.

My New Go-To Italian Catering!

By MrsPL81 |

I've actually never dined at Antonio's however my daughter is a true fan of their food and service. She lives in the neighborhood and has to eat gluten free. They have great options for her and when it came time to have her birthday dinner catered, she wanted Antonio's. They are such lovely, accommodating people and I must say, I wish I lived closer so I could eat there often. The pink sauce over the gluten free pasta with chicken was a huge hit. Mini cannoli's were amazing too!!! I can't believe I've lived in the San Fernando valley for 30 years and never ate there. I tell everyone how great it is and know it well!

A taste of back East

By TheSueSaga |

My most recent dining experience at Antonio's was wonderful as usual. I brought friends that hadn't been before and they loved everything they ordered. The staff is excellent at anticipating and accommodating our needs. The family feel of the place transports me back to the North East and honors the Italian-American culture I grew up with.

Amazing Old School Italian Restaurant

By Bonk00 |

There is no end to the great things I could say about Antonio's. It is our favorite restaurant and the place we take everyone when they visit from out of town (great excuse for us to go). The decor is charming old-school Italian, complete with checkered table clothes. The staff are all very friendly, and you can tell it is a family run place in the best possible way. Antonio's is exactly what you wouldn't expect in Los Angeles, particularly on Ventura Blvd nestled between the flavor of the month places that come and go...there is a reason they have been there for 55 years. Now for the best part...the food! I have eaten my way up and down the menu and have never been unhappy with my choice, everything is huge portions of great food. Some standouts are the pizza (loaded with fresh toppings), chicken parmigiana, and my personal absolute favorite...the Pasta Rossa (omg it is amazing). Also the garlic cheese bread and chopped salad make perfect starters to share. Great place for all occations...families, business lunch, romantic dates...perfect spot to go and feel right at home.

Like going to grandmas for Sunday dinner

Such a homey atmosphere and such great food. I felt right at home my first time there. I tried their seafood special and can't wait to have it again A must try for any fan of Italian food!!

Fabulous pizzas and service!

By glowworm89 |

Myself and a friend arrived here late on a Wednesday evening having read some good reviews. We were not disappointed! The restaurant itself had a lovely atmosphere and was very cosy. We had risotto balls for starter followed by pizzas for mains. The service and food were fabulous! One of the best pizzas I've had. The best thing about our night was the kindness and generosity of the staff. Having enquired about getting a taxi home, our waiter informed us there was a bus stop right outside the restaurant that would bring us directly to our hotel. He even gave us the bus fare as we had no change! Such a kind gesture.

Cozy environment, awesome food and good mojitos!

By Mette_V |

We visited Antonio's on our honeymoon as we lived in the area in Studio City. We were looking for an authentic italian meal at an affordable price, and we got what we came for. We had the spaghetti with meatsauce which wasn't out of this world. It was OK, but not worth having again. The meatlovers pizza on the other hand was PERFECT and worth a second try. As a starter we had the garlic bread with mozzarella and it was gooooood. Mojitos for dessert was a good idea. They are 8$ per glass and you get a decent size - and the taste is very good :-) We were happy!

Authentic Italian experience with wine and live music

By HushidarKharas |

We had a lovely dinner at Antonio's. The pizza was good, the lasagne rich and indulgent. The house chianti was excellent as well. We were too full for dessert. The restaurant seems like it just popped out of an old movie set, with chequered tablecloths and basket lanterns. It felt like a family run place, everyone new each other and got along. Great vibe! The best part of the evening was when our servers turned singers, and gave us some live music to eat with. Both the singers had excellent voices, and the pianist was good too. A place I'd love to go back to!

Family Favorite

By SJR55 |

Traditional Italian atmosphere. A classic in the valley. One of our favorites for take out for family gatherings at Grandma's house. Reminder of my childhood. Egg plant parm, lasagna, ravioli, and pizza all delicious. Large portions. Restaurant has a cozy feel and it is easy to carry on a conversation. Booths and tables. Street parking. A few spots in the back for pick-up. This time we had timely home delivery thru "DOORDASH.COM" .

Best Pizza In LA!

By TravelerShawnC |

All you need to know is this is the best pizza in LA, hands down. Probably the best pizza in all of California. They have a full menu but with their pizza being so good, I can never bring myself to try something else. They also have gluten free pizza as well. The staff is really friendly and warm and I enjoy the mom & pop atmosphere.

1957 and Counting

By Steven A |

We were in the hub of the restaurant. Very busy and while it took a while to get some rolls and wine. We had a great time. This is traditional food, and is about average for the area. We tried Chicken Marsala, and Lasagna .both were fair. The house red was good. And the cost for dinner for two was about 42 dollars with wine so reasonable. Parking is on the street or valet, Their are a lot of places to eat in the area. I believe for the valley I would go to Miceli in Studio City instead I enjoy the food better and you have the singing. I will admit even with a full restaurant we were able to have a conversation with our party of 10, so this was a plus. I would like to go back to try the pizza, not sure if I would order the Chicken again.

A 60-year-old pizza place still playing Sinatra amid dangling Chianti bottles - with very good pizza and salads

By Projournalist |

Step back to the 1960s when you enter Antonio's, with Sinatra and Martin wafting from the speakers and straw-covered Chianti bottles dangling from faux-tile "rooftops" over the tables. Silent TVs broadcast whatever ball game is happening at the moment. But the pizza is very good, generously loaded with fresh (not canned) toppings and fresh cheese. A medium veggie pizza ($20) was plenty for two people, with a thin, crispy crust (though not as thin or crispy as they're served in Italy). The minestrone soup ($3) is hearty and satisfying, and the "small" house salad ($4) is likewise filled with fresh ingredients, and may be delightfully chopped ($1 extra). This is a friendly "neighborhood" spot on Ventura Drive, very suitable for families, not a "special date-night" place.

Great hole in the wall

By Sally N |

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive. They treat you like family. Food is reasonably price and so tasty. Only negative thing I have to say is there is very little parking.

Great food. Great sevice!

By katek72 |

We originally went to Antonio's for the gluten free pizza and found a wonderful, charming, friendly establishment. From the moment you enter you feel as if you have been welcomed into their home. The waiters are funny and attentive without being overly. We coming back for more. We love Antonio's!!

Your New Local Favorite!

By John G |

LOVED this place. It was our first time, and we had pasta. It was absolutely terrific! We will come back for the pizza, which looked amazing. This is the absolutely classic neighborhood Italian restaurant: warm bread, vinyl booths, red-checker table clothes, owners from Italy. This will def. be our go-to place for pizza and pasta on the blvd.!!

Reliably good and friendly relaxing spot to enjoy an Italian meal — Mama’s style

By HarryBrentwood |

I’m from Northern California and always look forward to visiting here when in the area. Great service — tasty and satisfying Italian food — cozy, laid-back atmosphere. Never disappoints.

Good food, great service.

By Michael M |

Good food, great service. Very full menu with plenty of options. Are during COVID, staff was well prepared and attentive. Passersby on the sidewalk weren’t always masked, but that is out of the restaurant’s control.

fabulous pasta dishes

By Steve C |

Don't let the name fool you - this is not some pizza joint. This was probably the best Italian Restaurant food my wife and I have ever had. Get the spicy seafood pasta and Monica's Favorite Pasta dish. Wow! Great service too. Relaxed atmosphere. Must stop next time in the Valley.

MANGIA!! Eat drink and be merry!

By Mtnlvrs |

Staff and owners make you feel like you are old friends. Been in same family for years and have some of the original recipes as well as dishes with a new twist. Gluten free ravioli and eggplant parmgiana! Atmosphere is old school with ample servings and too many options to try everything. But it is our goal to do so. We travel to LA once a year to visit la famiglia and always make a point to visit with our "old friends".

An Institution!

By TheatreCrazyRedhead |

I have been dining at Antonio's Pizzeria since it opened. It looks exactly as it did way back when and the food is just as good. As a matter of fact, a number of family members who have moved out of the area get jealous whenever I mention eating there. Still owned by the original family, they are more than willing to bend over backward to see that their diners are satisfied. I ordered the Spaghetti a La Siciliano and asked if they would add capers to it. Our waiter wasn't sure if they even had capers onsite and said he'd ask. When I received my order, not only did it have capers, but extra! The portion was huge (I got 3 meals out of it!) and the owner came over and wanted to know whether capers should be an addition to this dish. Absolutely! Their salad and house dressing are terrific and combined with their yummy rolls, you have the perfect appetizer. I love their cheese pizza and their marinara sauce is to die for. There are many options for vegetarians and if it's not on the menu, just ask. I'd bet they would do whatever they could to accommodate you.

Just the Best Italian Food Ever....

By Aline H |

Okay, no joke!! This food is the best!!! You just crave it, it's soooo good!! Lived in LA most of my life and moved south to Temecula about 6 years ago and let me tell you there is nothing that compares!! First of all the pizza's are just to die for...and the toppings, um Yum!! You have to do the italian sausage with some fresh garlic and basil; if you are a meat lover, it's the bomb!! And oh my gosh, the meatballs.... Do not go home without having one of those!! If you are too full, take it to go!! If you want to be a lil adventurous try the spaghetti caruso, another one of my favorites!!! Sorry, could just go on and on!! What adds to the yummy food is the friendly like home environment...it's like eating a meal in the comfort of your own home that your mom just made with love!!

Authentic Italian food

If fresh, tasty, authentic Italian food is what you're looking for, then this is the place. Great staff & service!

Simply Amazing!

By Suki Thind |

This place is simply amazing! We’ve come here twice now when my cousin and nieces have visited town. My cousin and one of her daughters have celiac disease and can only eat gluten-free. This place has its own gluten-free menu with 100% gluten-free food. Moreover, ALL of the food here is delicious! The owner, Alex, is an absolute gem of a soul. She is extremely friendly, attentive, and is adored by my young niece. Did I mention how delicious the food is?! It’s so good that both of my nieces remember exactly what they had two years ago and couldn’t wait to dine here again today — and to try even more dishes! We ordered it all— Pizzas, Mozzarella Sticks, Risotto Balls, Mozarella Marinara, Chicken Piccata, Chicken Marsala, and several desserts. EVERYTHING was outstanding! Highly recommended is an understatement! This place truly makes us feel at home and like we’re family. Thanks again, Alex and Antonio’s Pizzeria. Can’t wait to come back!

Allergy friendly

By Natalie D |

The staff here has been wonderful! I have gluten, soy and dairy allergies. The first time I went in I spoke with Alex and she made sure to reiterate the information to our server Jose. I've never gotten sick after eating here! The drinks are always delicious, and the food is some of the best I've had in a very long time. Alex and her amazing staff always greet us like we are family!

Good, gluten free options!

By Charlie S |

While travelling in LA, my wife's friend decided to order take out food from Antonio's. The food was very tasty and they had a few gluten-free options. The portions were also quite large. I would recommend this place to other people.

Dissappointed

By Serena K |

Family of 4 in town on hols. Read the reviews and sounded good. Parking wasn’t easy but valet at $7 made it easy. Restaurant authentic Italian felt like the outside had been brought inside. Waiter attentive but the mains were brought to the table before the starters were cleared. The Arancini was ok - not hot and outside tasted bland and old. Sauce was very garlicky. Pizzas were good (not the best), chicken sandwich was nice. The lasagna (meat) was horrible I’m sorry to say. Absolutely swamped in some strange tasting tomato sauce and very little meat with ricotta cheese I think - it was just unpleasant. On paying the bill I was asked for feedback and told I should have said something earlier - to be honest the starter wasn’t that nice and main was horrible so I wasn’t going to order anything else! Shame as we were looking forward to this. As we are passing visitors I don’t suppose much notice will be taken of these comments but just for the next customer...

Stuffed!

Amazing food. Antonio's even has a gluten free menu. Great atmosphere. Superb customer service. Alex and her brother make you feel like family the moment you walk in.

I left half the Pie

By BARRY B |

I haven't been in years, and it has taken a turn for the worse for me, The salad was just a bunch of plain lettuce, a handful of garbanzo beans and a huge beet on top which I took off and put on the table and it never got taken away by the waiter. I had to ask for the special dough roll that should come with the salad and he reluctantly gave me one. For the price, the salad was small. The pizza came, wasn't too tasty and the dough was very gummy after the topping separated. The bottom of the crust was overcooked but the top of it was wet and like i said, gummy. This is a place that I won't be return to anytime soon, which is too bad, because years ago I really liked it and the service. There was basically no service this time. He asked if I wanted to take home the half of the pizza -- I said no, he didn't even ask why not?

Best Pizza in Los Angeles

By Hugh L |

I've eaten pizza for 6o years and have eaten same from New York to Chicago to San Francisco and Los Angeles. I rate this amongst the top three restaurants out of the four cities I named and the numerous pizza places I've had the pleasure of trying. This place has a pizza that tastes like pizzas I used to eat in mom and pop places and maybe because they are a Mom and Pop type of restaurant. There pizzas are a labor of love as is all of their dishes and the cheese floats on a bed of tasty tomato sauce and the cheese doesn't pull off with the first bite (you know what I mean?). The toppings are plentiful not requiring you to order doubles as I frequently do if dining in other establishments. I've had the clams in red sauce pasta which was in a rich red sauce and the spaghetti cooked to al dente. Should you find yourself in Sherman Oaks I highly recommend Antonio's. Oh! And by the way, ask for Alex, she's the or one of the owners and a delightful lady who along with the rest of her staff will insure that you have a delightful time and a great meal.

Airport Pizza

By Luis C |

Medium quality pizza, wide variety of beers, is close to the hotels that are attached to the airport, medium price, has tables to sit

Home Style Italian

By PhilTLosAngeles |

Antonio's Pizzeria has been at this location for 50 years or more. I remember picking up a pizza right about then. It's a very nice place to go for a bite to eat and you don't have to dress up. There are a full line of meals from A to Z Italian style 5 star . They have great house wine in large containers. Ohhhh also lots of parking in the rear. Yes that's no tipping valet parking!

One word AMAZING

By H20gurl |

This is the best pizza in all of Los Angeles!! The pasta is also fabulous and the desserts are to die for especially the peach cobbler and cannolis. The service is superb. If your ever in Sherman Oaks this is a must visit!!!!

Fun neighborhood Italian with solid pizza and live music

By Katherine F |

Pizza is good but not outstanding. Lots of pasta options. Great salad. Love the live music on weekends. If you want unpretentious red sauce Italian but your group has varying tastes, you will probably like it here.

AT LEAST 60 YRS OF THE SAME EXCELLENCE!

By JOHN A |

can't say enough great things about this place. i visited regularly as a child 60 years ago, hadn't been there for decades (i moved out of town), and 50 years later, started going back regularly on my visits with friends that live nearby. i challenge anyone to find a comparable restaurant for atmosphere, food quality, service, etc. that has maintained that consistency for so so long. i am sure that some of the staff from my childhood are no longer with us, yet nothing else has changed. i loved their cannelloni as a child and it is still the same wonderful dish that it was back then, just as an example. may they live forever!

Nice people - great pizza!

By Bill T |

Antonio's is just old school Italian fare at its best - simple heart warming Italian- American food served in a wrm cozy old school atmosphere

Not terribly impressed

By Isunwin |

The restaurant is small. The service was Ok. They got my order as well as my friends order wrong (I ordered spaghetti marinara, they made it with meat sauce. He ordered linguini and clams in a red sauce, and they made it with a white sauce). The cheese pizza was good. The food is reasonably priced. To sum, it was only ok.

Waste of money!

By Adrienne Fishe |

The margarita pizza was awful!!! I was so disappointed!I called to order a take-out pizza approx 30 minutes before they closed. When I got home and tasted the pizza, it was clear that the crust was old, possibly something they were about to throw away, it definitely was not fresh. The crust was old and tasted of cardboard. I took 3 bites and threw the entire pizza in the garbage! This was the worst $21 spent in a long time!

Ma Mia - Hometown Italian Food!

By JoyceA926 |

A group of 5 dined at Antonio's Pizzeria last weekend. We were the first diners and no others came while we were there, interesting. We had a wonderful waitress who took care of our every need - thank you. We had 2 pizzas to eggplant parmigiana to salads to artichokes - all were very tasty and fresh with huge portions.

My favorite Italian restaurant

By Cassandra |

Antonio's is one of my favorite restaurants and they always make you feel at home. The food is exceptional, the service is warm and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Every meal I've ever had here gas been delicious. Highly recommend!

Antonio's is a gem in the Valley!

By katerz |

We felt like a quiet, old-school Italian dinner for our anniversary. Nothing too fancy! Antonio's was just the ticket! We arrived early, around 6, and it was neither noisy nor crowded. Our server was helpful and attentive; the food was FANTASTIC and VERY reasonably priced! We will definitely be back!

Decent Italian Food

By Ron J |

This nice quiet place is a great for a quick stop for some pasta or pizza at a very fair cost. The fettuccine alfredo is very good and was only $9. I was originally scared to try it because of the price but it turned out to be A-OK. The pizza is not the best you can get in the area but certainly well worth the price. It was not crowded inside at all and the waiter was very helpful and attentive. I would return if I felt like pasta and was in the area.

Good, but not as good as the ratings say

By Rosie A |

I had the three olive pizza, which was good and my spouse had the "works" pizza, that he thought was average. I did like the fact that we were offered to have the one pizza split - into two kinds. Three slices of my choice and three of my husband's as we were not very hungry. I loved the strawberry basil lemonade - tasty and refreshing!

Yummy

By Sally N |

This restaurant is very unassuming. It is quaint and quiet, no frills. Food was delicious, staff was warm and welcoming. The prices are reasonable. We left with doggy bags to enjoy it again!

The best kept secret in the LA area.

By Queen456 |

Great home made Italian cuisine. I'm from an Italian family and it's like visiting home. An old world atmosphere with Alex making you feel like you've come home for dinner. Don't deny yourself any longer.

Cozy

By Katholmesca |

This is a great family restaurant. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the staff are always very friendly. The food is very good and is always hot when it reaches your table. They also have a great selection of gluten free dishes including pizza.

Awesome!

By LadyDi2452 |

Came to LA to visit family and ate here. Some of the best food I've ever eaten! The service was top notch. Will definitely be putting it on my list of places to eat when we come back to visit!

Great food and friendly staff

By Dan R |

You don't come to Antonio's if you are looking for the latest trendy/chic restaurant in Los Angeles. Antonio's has the look of a traditional, old-school Italian restaurant. However, if you want to wow your date, your family or your friends with amazing pizza, great pasta and wonderful salads in a friendly, charming atmosphere, Antonio's is a great choice.

A Classic Cozy Italian Restaurant Friendly Service!

By BackRoadsUSA |

So many choices on Ventura Blvd- but I always wanted to try Antonio's with the great Vintage sign- love locally owned restaurants! Opened the door and it is a classic quiet restaurant with lots of corner booths, candles and low light. Everyone greeted us and let us choose our table! Ordered the spinach salad, with olives, mushrooms, very clean- just a simple balsamic dressing all very fresh! Margherita pizza- thin crust-lots of sauce and light on cheese- just as we asked! Large pizza and salad enough for 2 people! We were checked on often and given plenty of attention. All in all a nice Wednesday night at a long standing Ventura Blvd Restaurant! Hope business continues for such nice people working to give you a pleasant clean dining experience! +Street parking-after 8 is free. Clean Bathroom. And I like how tables were bussed quickly instead of letting dirty dishes with food sit on them-

AN OLD STANDBY THAT STILL HOLD UP

By Kris W |

I used to go to Antonio's back in the 1960s, with all of my Grant High friends. Then I skipped a few decades, for no particular reason. Now I've returned and it seems the same, in a good way. Very friendly and inviting service and nice, low decibel music on the weekends.

Cozy, casual and delicious food

By Gahan |

I ate here with a friend that frequently eats at the restaurant. The restaurant looks like it's been there a while and it's very cozy inside. Sort of your typical old-school, Italian look, I suppose. She recommended a spaghetti and it was delicious! Can't remember the name but it had mushrooms in the sauce. Never had anything quite like the taste of it and really enjoyed it. We also had pizza and it was delicious as well. I'd definitely eat there again. Service was great as well.

Your Perfect Neighborhood Italian Restaurant!

By irasala |

Antonio's is the perfect neighborhood restaurant; it has been around for generations, and each generation discovers it!. We have been going there for over 50 years--first as teens; now as Seniors. The Pizza is still wonderful! And the atmosphere is something our of the past that older people remember; and younger people envy--but can still enjoy the feeling.
