Friendly staff, reasonable service, entertaining chef

By JBDiggerman |

Went with colleagues, service was good, chef cooking food in front of you was entertaining, steak and lobster was delicious. Sequence of the food was disappointing: rice served and eaten, lobster served and eaten, steak served and eaten then vegetables served onto empty plates!? Other than that it was fine.

Birthday celebration

By 916angelof |

We had a wonderful time at the restaurant. There is a chef in every table preparing your food. We really enjoy chef Charlie for his talent, good humor and great food. The drinks are also good. Even my teenagers want to return.

Excellent food

By elsalili |

My daughter was there for a birthday lunch, the food was delicious, the staff very friendly and fast service. all the place were very clean, the bathrooms were in excellent condition very clean. Offer quite a variety of food

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and superior food

By Rafika816 |

My daughter and I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking through the Dadeland Mall. The environment looked intriguing, so we stopped to read the menu. The scents emanating from within convinced us to try the food. The BBQ ribs were simply amazing. I make my own Miso soup, but really enjoyed their version. We both enjoyed our entrees, Bulgogi and Japanese noodles. The service was excellent. The waitress recommended the homemade ginger ale, which was truly exquisite. I cannot wait to revisit Aoki.

Good food and price - very bad service

By caroescovela |

August 13th, We arrived after lunch time, the place wasn't very busy. They informed that based on the type of menu we wanted, tables were just outdoors and we accepted (inside was plenty of space). There were 2 tables, they cleaned one and we asked for the one on the corner because we had a toddler. The hostest answer was " it is not clean , i am not going to clean it, take this one"... rude!!! Our waitress was DORIAN, he didn't want to explain the menu. His answer about ingredients was: "read the menu". Do you have something tp offer for the kid? ? : "no kids menu, nothing for him" .. please!!! The had a chiken teriyaky with white rice as entrée, very small. Perfect for kids... but he prefered not to offer anything... some examples of many dissapointment answers for this team. The food took a lot of time to arrived, and not the way we order... a simple instructios: no vegetables with the dish... the dish came full of vegetables. Nice flavors, good price. But the people makes the experience awful

Awesome lunch happy hour ,

By miajustsaying |

This was truly a pleasant surprise I had no idea this place not only had a sushi bar but also an awesome lunch happy hour. I had AOKI donburi bowl, which comes with a salad with ginger dressing. Extremely filling! I had the lychee Martini, it reminded me of Doraku, come to find out the restaurants belong to the same family. Good for a nice lunch while shopping at Dadeland

Lunchtime menu is a must!!

By PSB |

Having been used to paying at least £15 plus for lunch this was great value at just €8 for chicken teriyaki. Great food really tasty! Friendly staff too

Enjoyable evening

By Zilverbullet |

We enjoyed our meal and the show that they put on at the table. The food was pretty good except for the chicken that was a little dry. We were really disapponted as most tepanyaki tables give you a few sauces for dipping and although it said so on the menu we were only given one (not much flavor) and told it was for everything. Other than that it was a fun evening.

No service for more than 10 mins

By Toyo3 |

We were seated in the teppanyaki immediately upon arrival for lunch, handed the menus and then no one showed up even after I stood up and asked for someone. Looking around there were other patrons in the same situation even though the place was half empty. Unless you have lots of time to waste waiting, don't come here.

Anniversary celebration

Awesome dinner engagement to celebrate our 4th year anniversary! Awesome food & drinks that are up there with the best of the best! GetSome!!

Overpriced & Overrated

By Sophi B |

This is my unbiased and completely honest opinion, but this place is not good. I have gone twice (forgetting how badly it was the first time) & got ripped off again. Both times I did hibachi & it was the biggest rip off. You pay a ridiculous amount of money for a baby portion of food. Not to mention, the food is tasteless! It really isn’t as good as what you’re paying for. If you’re gonna spend that kind of money, go next door to Earls or to another Hibachi place like Samurai. It is definitely overpriced & overrated.. don’t fully recommend it.

Aoki is not just another Hibachi place

By Vector123 |

We have been to many a hibachi restaurant over the years, as the food is typically good and the entertainment value can be as well. I say "can be" because depending on your cook, it can be a top shelf experience or just run of the mill. So when we went into Aoki, we were expecting a typical experience beyond the experience of our table side chef. Yet it exceeded our expectations in virtually every way. The setting was a mixture of traditional oriental and also with a modern flair not typically found in such restaurants. The seating was not crowded to where you felt like a sardine. The waitress was prompt and informative. I was pleasantly surprised to see that aside from the typical Japanese beers in the bottle, they has several on draft. That plus a very pleasant surprise of Kronenbourg on draft, which I have not had for years. The martini from the full liquor bar was also good and prepared just right. Unlike some places that serve you premade and chilled salads, a prep man came out with fresh greens to mix tableside, and had a spinning bowl to mix and prepare the portions. Aside from the flair and personality demonstrated, the various greens with the ginger dressing was very good. I ordered the triple with steak, shrimp, chicken, and some scallops added in. Our chefs name was Carlos, and he not only did the traditional techniques/tricks, but also had some new ones up his sleeve. Watching him with his utensils and bowl distribution was akin to watching Tom Cruise in Cocktail. He had an interactive personality that our entire table enjoyed. I'd rate him in the top 5 out of all the hibachi chefs we have ever had, which is high praise. The vegetables were more generous than what the Samurai offers, with sweet potatoes and sprouts added in among the zucchini and onions. The rice is also a mixture of three different types, white, brown and wild to give is a unique taste with different textures. The meats were of high quality, prepared as ordered. Everything was staggered, but close enough together to where part of your meal was not getting cold waiting for the rest of the food. I made a point to speak with the manager Junya, and he was very attentive and interested to know how everything was. We enjoyed the service, food, drinks, and atmosphere. Overall I could not have been more pleased with our experience. We look forward to going back again in the very near future.

Great

By dorisjaf |

The filet mignon was excellent as the salad. It’s a very good place with a lot of options. Also for vegetarians, we ate tofu

Disappointing - something feels off line

By rupert m |

went for happy hour, the bar was deserted and smelt of stale beer. the place as a whole feels run down and as if its run its course, next door had earls trendy and jumping, this place felt hard work and staff unenthused had spicy shrimp and various sushi which were fine, but it all feels on a downward spiral would suggest owners shake it up, as was such a great hit

Wow!

By Ligia B |

This Place has it all, creative and healthy menu, beautiful seating inside or outside. The service is personal and top notch. Can't say enough about how enjoyable several visits have been for our family here. We've brought family and friends with us and everyone is amazed at the quality and service received here.

Nice break from shopping

By Lata67 |

Aoki Teppanaki is a nice lunch option, located on the terrace dining section of the Dadeland mall. Lunch specials from 12h30 to 4PM are good value options (basically same entrees like on the regular menu, but lower price). One of us had the Donburi from the lunch specials, while the other 3 of us went for a sushi and sashimi lunch (regular menu). While there are better sushi in Miami, Aoki is most likely one of the best shopping mall sushi (or japanese) restaurant we have come across in a long time. If you're shopping needs a break, take it to Aoki!

Not As Impressive As It Looks From Outside

By FHackman82 |

Not As Impressive As It Looks From Outside If you have ever gone to Kobe or Samurai, this place is trying to be like those places. We went with a party of 7 to 8 and were told that they do not take reservations but it was slow that night so there would be no issues sitting us. They wanted the entire party to be there before we were seated - which I could understand. The food was okay - nothing to jump up and down about. The portion sizes to the cost is not that great. Most at our table were done eating everything before the veggies were even ready for us to eat. I would suggest pacing yourself to get the overall experience. I would not go out of my way to go to this location again - only go if a bunch of people are already going there. Better choices available close by.

Terrible Service

By AFHC |

Super bad service the waitress took our order and never came back the hibachi guy never came in 40 minutes. I asked for the check for our drinks and they threw it in front of me really bad place.

Amazing place

By Wilson_F_SP |

Aoki is an amazing place to go. The food is delicious, the ambient is nice and the people (waiters, hostess, cooker) are nice and funny. The food is made in front of the customers and this makes all the difference. Try the ride of sake: small amounts of several brands! Great place to go.

GOOD HIBACHI OPTION

By Jorge A |

It is a good alternative for the extinct Samurai or Benihana. In fact, its owner, the famous DJ Steve Aoki, is the son of the founder of Benihana. Its atmosphere is not as noisy or crowded as it was Samurai or Benihana, but the quality of their dishes is quite good and their staff is very friendly and efficient.

Chef made the night

Chef Leo made a fathers day dinner with my family an event everything thing was perfect, dinner was great. Thanks again

Great for Private Parties!!

By miamifisherman |

We recently held two large events at this restaurant within a few weeks, a first communion reception for 50 people and a 12 year old's birthday dinner for 35 kids. The manager and staff were very helpful. They have various areas for private parties that work well. Both events went great and food was delicious!!!

Great lunch in Dadeland

By Naida N |

We went for Lunch, the place it's really nice all exotic woods and very elegant to be in a mall ... For drink we got 3 Lychee martini, the appetizer we got the Aoki sushi roll and was delicious!!! The mix of shrimp and stake on a sushi was genius!!! The main course we went to the chef table I got Lobster & New York Strip, my husband got the shrimp and stake. We pay $97.00

Good teppan yaki

By Jose J |

Great location Great cook abilities. Food is good. Service really good. We share the teppan yaki. About $60 per person

Sushi

By SylviaKY |

I stopped in here because I was a little late on having dinner and thought some sushi would be nice. My service was quick and friendly, and the food tasted good. I wasn't too happy with the value for what you get, but a lot is expensive in Miami as far as I'm concerned. I got two rolls and a Sapporo and it was fairly expensive. Perhaps this costs more because of who owns it? I'd like better value for the money. More sushi pieces included in the rolls without raising the cost.

Disappointing

By Marcos A |

We came here wanting to have a good fun meal as we have in the past and it was very disappointing. We had teppanyaki but the rice, meat, chicken and vegetables had no flavor - the chef said he was getting accustomed to their cooking ingredients but quite frankly that speaks tot he lack of training and quality control in restaurant. And service was slow. Will not return nor recommend to anyone

Birthday Turn-Around

By H7899BIkevinp |

Visited this venue for the first time with my girlfriend and her family (party of 7) with reservations. At first when we arrived (partial party) we were informed that we were not allowed to be seated till the arrival of the complete party so we had to wait. The server was lovely but failed to give us a proper introduction to the style of cuisine as well as the menu options and as to what separated them from other venues that offer the same style of cooking/presentation method. HOWEVER, CHARLIE the cook was ABSOLUTELY STELLAR. He is the ONLY reason why our experience was top notch. Excellent social skills, very entertaining, great cook, gregarious and just and absolute rock star. His energy transferred to the entire party and had everyone laughing and engaging. My girlfriends birthday was a hit thanks SOLELY to him. The F&B manager, I believe, was also very professional and hospitable. In other words, DO NOT LOSE CHARLIE and thanks to him we had a wonderful time.

Not good

By Irma B |

I went to this restaurante because a good friend recommended . First I wasn’t allowed to go to the table since we booked for 4 and only 2 arrived first The cook in the tepanyaki table was an amateur, making a kind of mess while cooking. It is costly compared with the quality of service and food .

Awesome!!!

By ALMD |

This is a very nice restaurant. The outdoor seating is very quiet with a relaxed environment. The food is awesome with a lot of variety on the menu. Good service.

Nothing Japanese About This Place

By GreyTravelor |

One of the dangers associated with the popularity of Japanese food in America is the view that anyone can prepare and cook it. The country is littered with examples of restaurants where the food is ill prepared under the guise and pretense of being Japanese. Aoki is one such example. It's not merely mediocre, it is bad. The sashimi and sushi were suspect. The menu is printed on a grocery bag, which should be used to pack up the food and put it in the trash. The service was deplorable other than one nice you guy behind the sushi bar. But it's in the mall....if you're hungry for bad imitation Japanese cuisine, you won't be disappointed.

Don't Bother To Go

By HighHeelsTourist |

Went to the new Aoki Teppanyaki in Dadeland Mall and was completely disappointed. We walked in and the hostess was on her cell and didn't bother to hang up. Finally, someone came and took us to a table, and to my surprise the teppanyaki was dirty, there were pieces of old cooked rice on the teppankayi! A few minutes later a waiter came to the table next to ours, and I told him that our grill was dirty, and that I wasn't going to eat if they didn't clean it. He cleaned it. Then after waiting about 15 minutes the waitress came to take our order and the other couple that was sitting on the same table. About 15 minutes after a young man came to our table and prepared the salad, then we waited more time for the chef to come and cook our food. Honestly, it was not good, the rice with chicken tasted like from a cheap take out. The service is slow and bad, they NEED to train their staff to cater to the guests and to be more professional. The place lacks ambiance and the fun of other teppankayi places. Thumbs down for this place, not planning on returning.

Not worth the money

By Juanita112 |

Went to Aoki at Dadeland Mall for mom's birthday celebration. Total of 6 people and we all agree that neither the food or the service its worth the money spent at this restaurant. Will never return.

Great Food and Service at a Reasonable Price

By Andy M |

Went for lunch with a friend and they have excellent and very affordable lunch specials. For less than $10 you can get a good quality meal and great service. We sat outside overlooking the mall but there is plenty of space inside and they have a Sushi Bar, Benihana style pits and also a very nice bar with a good atmosphere in the back. They also offer outside seating overlooking Kendall but it should be best in the late afternoon and after since the sun hits it and can be very hot. Being in Dadeland Mall there is plenty of parking. For the value and quality and selection this is a great choice!....and in addition you can do your shopping or wait at the bar if your partner is on a shopping spree and you want to relax!!!

Great happy hour menu

By rupert m |

this place is great - the rear bar is ideal for a few beers and some happy hour sushi. the food was excellent and staff attentive. i'm not 100% sure on happy hour times, but we were there about 6pm - was great. we had a few rolls and there were very good - shrimp firecracker awesome!

Night out

By Yenileys G |

Nice and clean place the food was delicious but the service was a little slow anyhow the had a good team i like the bar

So glad I ate here

By melodymc |

I'm originally from Miami. So when I come back home to visit I always look forward to trying new places. Was walking the mall and ran in to a aoki. It was lunchtime and happy hour, the food smells amazing. My friend and I decided to stay there. The front desk staff at the hostess stand, and our server Isaac were super friendly. Had a cucumber drink that was phenomenal. The food was freshly cooked in front of you and tasted great. Although a little pricey I still loved it and would definitely go back

Do not take anyone's word on this place judge for yourself

By lacane88 |

I don't know why everyone else has written such terrible reviews, but my wife and I decided to stop by after we shopped for a gift for a coming birthday. We read the reviews and were hesitant because of so many people saying bad service, but I didn't want to drive anywhere else and we decided to go. I am very glad we did, the firecracker shrimp tempura was amazingly well balanced with heat and sweet, their house Inaka Fried Rice was amazing as well. My steak and shrimp combo was the best I have had in south florida yet and My wife, who never eats all her food anywhere, finished her Fire Dragon Roll within 2 minutes of reaching the table. We were incredibly well attended regardless of what others have said on here. Perhaps other's expectations is for your server to hover over your table and serve you like you are the only table they have to turn over, this place was amazing and If I could rate them many times over to turn around these terrible reviews I would. My advice, do not take my word for it, or any others. Go for yourself and make up your own mind, if we would have gone by these reviews we would have missed out on this amazing place we will now frequent.

Very good sushi.

By Carlos A |

This fairly new restaurant is a good one. We have not tried the teppanyaki yet. Sushi bar is the preferred spot. The Samurai-Inspired rolls, the Specialty Maki and the Donburi offer excellent options for a quick lunch or dinner. Dadeland Mall has added an interesting value option with this place.

We were at the Mall

By Robert H |

The food was ok, the service could have been better. The sauces didn't do much as to make the food better. It was in a very expensive rent area. Little expensive

AOKI ROCKS!

By Loucious |

Always a pleasure to return to AOKI's locale! The food variety is awesome & delicious. The decorations are beyond gorgeous and the entertainment is A+. Never a dull moment here! GetSome!!

Lunch At The Mall

By sassygirl59 |

Hibachi style serving. The food was good but we had to wait for the table to be full of guests before the chef could start his 'show'. We were so hungry waiting almost 45 minutes. Nice portion sizes. Cheerful chef.

Great family place

By Natalie S L |

If your family is like mine, then it is hard to agree on a place everyone loves to dine at. This place is our family go to place. Not only do we all love the food - especially the pink sauce. But because it is cooked at the table, dinner takes a little longer and gives us more binding time. Only drawback- it is a bit pricey. Especially when everyone has their significant others and I pick up the tab. Jk.

Hibachi Grill

By FreeRadical305 |

Nice night out at a hibachi grill. Same as other hibachi grills, a step up in the healthy/nutritious category. Mixed rice was awesome (how often are we able to say that?), vegetables were better than most. Food menu was short (& pricey), drink menu, far more extensive. Would rather have it the other way around. Overall, good service, pleasant staff. All one needs for a nice evening out.

Great for the experience, not for the prices

By Laurin P |

Let me start by saying that I love hibachi places. I always have fun and I think the food is tasty (especially the sauces!). This place is an average hibachi place-and a little expensive for what you get. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 standard dinner plates and waters, no upgrades ($5 upgrade to sirloin, $8 upgrade to Kobe, not too bad if you ask me but we didn't spring for it), and we walked out paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $70+ (tip included, can't remember the exact price). Also of importance is that their dinner hibachi menu is SHORT. There were not many options like some other hibachi spots in the area. My favorite is steak and scallops, and unless I ordered a full order of steak with an additional side of scallops ($8), they didn't have it on the menu, which was disappointing. This doesn't sound too bad for a hibachi place, but when you consider that their menu is printed on a paper bag (such as those you would find in a grocery store), and we were served with paper napkins, I don't think that is appropriate for the price we paid. Those types of settings seem more appropriate for a hole-in-the-wall, finger-licking BBQ joint, not an upscale hibachi-style restaurant. I would expect a bit more fancy (cloth napkins, laminated menu) for the price. Believe me, I'm not a snob and I'm totally down with hole-in-the-wall spots, but not when I'm paying $70 for food alone, no drinks. Just didn't sit right with me. Setting that aside, the service was great, our chef was the funniest/friendliest I've met, and we had a great time. So if you're willing to pony up a little extra cash for a standard hibachi grill experience, you won't be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a great value, at least the dinner prices here leave more to be desired. I can't vouch for the lunch. Food tasted standard for hibachi (like I said-I love hibachi, so this was great for me)-but nothing to write home about. I think the seafood tasted better than the steak/chicken in my opinion. Hibachi dinners are served with salad and friend rice (no choice for soup or noodles, but also no upgrade fee for fried rice like some of their Miami competitors). They seemed pretty dead when we were there (maybe 1 other table), but that may just be because we showed up later in the evening on a week night (not right before close-late, but about 1.5 hours before close). All in all, a fun experience, but at those prices I'm not sure we'll be back.

Surly and Confrontational Manager or Owner sent me running for the escalators.

By David M |

Ate here one night while staying at the nearby Dadeland Marriott. My friend had to send back his overcooked steak, but my salmon teriyaki was pretty good. Had no complaints really, and decided to return two nights later. They tried to be cool by printing their menu on a brown grocery bag, but you really want to hold that ragged paper bag with the tips of your fingers, because they seem so worn and dirty. The wannabe hipster waiter (who presented himself on my second visit )could not contain his disdain and indifference when I asked about "gluten free" options. Now, I am not strictly gluten intolerant, but rather allergic to white flour, so the "gluten free" label usually guarantees that there is no white flour included as an ingredient, simpifying the ordering process. Well, two minutes later a gentleman whom I assumed was either the manager or owner shows up and starts to lecture me as though he was a process server. His language was litigious and insulting. I am not a scam artist who wanted to get a free meal, it was my SECOND visit, because I enjoyed my first meal there. But I was not about to sit there and be lectured by a rude individual who did not have the courtesy to introduce himself. Vibes are important people, do not put food into your body prepared by angry surly owner -managers. Lots of good eats on the street around the corner.

Disappointing

By mwooduk |

Came tonight for the first time - both Ladies and Men's rooms were filthy. Should have left then. Visually it's very pretty with neat lights and decor. Service was slow and we sat on the back patio - no lights to read menu which is inna paper bag, very dark. Wanted a flight of sake's but they only had one available (!) so I had that and it was good. Ordered pork with rice and miso soup - both items came out together so I had to choose which one to let go cold while I ate the other. Miso Soup was good and hotter so left that for after. Hubby ordered spare ribs as an appetizer and it came out just as we both finished our other meals 😩. We are both powerboat racing enthusiasts for which Rocky Aoki was famous - he created the amazing Benihana - this doesn't even come close......very disappointing.

The best price for a special food

Great food, fresh ingrediaents, good service and friendly people to wellcome you. I went two times in two days, you must try the scalop, they are really tender and delicious, the valamari as well.

Great new twist on teppanyaki

By Greg6987 |

Enjoyed a great meal cooked in front of us. Their fried rice is awesome with 3 types of rice mixed. Veggies are also very tasty. Overall great spot in Dadeland Mall to enjoy good food cooke din front of you.

Great Teppanyaki Restaurant in Miami

By MiamiBird |

This restaurant proved to be a pleasant surprise. If you are in the mood for teppanyaki, I recommend it highly. Pros: - Attentive, efficient and courteous servers - Food was prepared excellently. It was fresh, well-seasoned and very tasty. - Our chef was a master. In addition, he was friendly, accommodating and entertaining. - Prices were as expected for high-level teppanyaki restaurant Cons - I did not find any drawbacks at this restaurant

Food Quality good - But service and entertainment is lacking

By lanzarotta |

When I like to eat Teppanyaki and shell out the $$$ that it usually costs for good quality food and entertainment. Aoki delivered half of that experience. We sat right away last night for dinner thinking that we were going to be served right away. They took our drink orders and since nobody was drinking that night we settled on an iced tea and three sodas for the four in our party. About 10 minutes later one iced tea was brought out by the bartender to the other party at our table making a big deal how he did a sweet tea for her....OK - the person in our party ordered a tea as well...nothing - we then waited a few more minutes and the tea for the person in our party was brought out - no sodas. Finally the sodas arrived - flat as can be - (and this is a new restaurant) - After about 35 minutes of waiting - our spinning salad guy arrived and made a decent salad for everyone and calmed our nerves of having to wait so long on a Thursday night. After the salad guy left the Chef Came over - The original drink server never turned on our station so we had to wait another ten minutes before they could start cooking. We expected a Chef with an Asian Background that is trained for this - but got a latin guy - he was very nice - but no show whatsoever....no juggling of the knives, no show with the eggs or the food on the table....every fun part of this experience was gone....just cooked the food. The only thing he did was make a chicken noise as he put the chicken breast on the grill and he did make the onions turn into a volcano - but that was it...I have been going to Teppanyaki for over 25 years - and this culinary show was the worst....Totally disappointed for a Birthday dinner....What topped off my regret for choosing this place, the table across from us had a fun Asian Chef who had the table laughing and doing tricks within the first few minutes of arriving at their table. So maybe we just had some bad luck - I do not know if I will take the expensive risk to try again. The restaurant itself was beautiful. The server did take off the flat sodas from our bill after my request - but I was told she would have to check with the manager first - A flat soda should be a no brainer to take off a bill and if she did have to check - I do not care - Just go check and then let me know the outcome!

Great food and service!

By Rsantisteban |

We went to this restaurant for our son's birthday celebration. It was a great choice. The staff was friendly, and very efficient. The quality of the food was very good with fresh ingredients and the authentic Japanese feel. We had different types of main course for the Hibachi. Regardless of who ordered what plate, everything was good. the steak the chicken and shrimp were all cooked just right and the Japanese fried rice was very tasty. We highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for Japanese hibachi.

Terrible Service, Poorly Managed Restaurant

By Adolfo S |

I went to Aoki last night looking for a quite dinner and I got sat outside. I was told I could get the same experience that inside, but when I ordered I was told that fried rice was not served outside. Made no sense"" then my spouse got his dinner first (steak already cold) and 20 minutes later my dinner arrived, I decided to cancel it. then waiter came back saying that the manager (Another kid) decided to offer me the cold chicken dinner at HALF PRICE. I said no of course. The manager never stopped at my table to apologize.. The entire outside smells like pee. On my way out, I saw a kid with a tie (Asian) who assumed was the manager then I realized that I am not surprise the way he handle my canceling my dinner. when two people order dinner, you are supposed to serve both dinners at the same time!!!

Lunch Special is Good and Filling

By Edmund438 |

Our reservation was for 3:30 PM. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and provided menus. The lunch special goes through 4 PM. We each (3 of us) selected the "duo" teppanyaki lunch special which comes with a generous and tasty salad with ginger dressing. Our main course which included fried rice, grilled vegetables, steak, shrimp was very delicious and filling. Was tasty and filling. Satisfied such that we did not need to eat dinner. Nice atmosphere too.

Great service, beautiful place, great lunch at the mall

By joselito1959 |

Great place to have lunch in the Dadeland mall. Beautiful place. Great hospitality. Like very much the idea of seating in front if a wok and continue a conversation while they cook in front of you in the wok. The cooking "show" was very entertaining. Had the home made ginger ale for drink at it was very refreshing. The food was fabulous. The ny strip and shrimp was perfect. Great fried rice. The shrimps are big. Also make great chicken livers. Our server, john Bell was very good. He was very friendly, professional and always pausing attention to see if we needed it something. The food was fresh and excellent flavor. Had a great lunch.

Good lunch!

By Manny |

I had a good lunch with my friends. They have a pretty good lunch specials. Steak Teriyaki and fried rice was great the only problem was this time the waiting time!!!

Good food

By Marviech |

Visited this restaurant with my family We waited for approximately 20 minutes for the chef. He prepared the salad, thefood and dessert right in front of us , but the amount of food was very small compared to the high price. I asked for a fillet mignon and fried rice. The fillet was small. Not so flavory. My son and wife asked for stake and srimps. Same small amount for the price. The chef made a small theater with the food like a heart with the rice and the broke it and said broken heart. The best was the dessert we asked for green tea icecream and brownnies which was delicious. Nothing extraordinary .

Missed the mark - but usually better than this

By truthNtravel |

Today was not the normal service we usually get and expect. Our tepinyaki chef is usually amazing. Today we had a guy that was obviously upset about something. Did not say more that 5 words to the 3 kids at the table and did not put on a show (as we know, we are not just paying for the food). My steak was ordered medium rare. After seeing it on the grill forever, I mentioned it didn’t look rare, and he scooped it up and put it on my plate...never to ask anything or offer another one. He ended up leaving even after I said I can’t eat this. We complained to the manager, who told the chef, and in turn when the chef went to another table near us and gave us a nasty look...the kids noticed. I was very upset that the manager still never offered to fix me a new steak...I left without eating a meal...horrible service. This is not the usual way these guys operate. Marco Lopez needs to be re- trained as a manager

Horrible

By Lissette G |

Terry place! Food is not very Japanese! Service is horrible! Kitchen takes extremely long. My son waited over one hour for his soup and my daughter 1:45 hours for her rice bowl. We came to celebrate daughter’s 19th birthday and even the desserts we ordered were wrong. Instead of what we ordered they brought something else. We had a 3 hour dinner that wasn’t worth it. They don’t hire enough servers and kitchen is horrible slow. The rolls didn’t even came with ginger not wasabi ! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY to come here. Instead, go next door get a burger or go to the food court. THIS PLACE SHOULD CLOSE down! Terrible! Horrible experience! Save yourself! Run They gave us s discount which didn’t compensate our wasted time, discomfort and ruined night!

Great Sushi at an affordable price!

By M G |

Went for dinner and ordered Chardonay Strong Hill from Sonoma and and another one from Napa. We sat outside and the overview of Dadeland/Kendall was fabulous! Ordered fried rice, Dragon rolls, Harty Warrior, Edamame, Teriyaki chicken. The place was packed, it was beautiful inside as well. Service was fast and the food was excellent.

Tasty and fast

By ElenaUma |

Stopped by for dinner and experienced good food, fast service and very nice waitress (Ally) who cared about preferences and could talk for the menu specifics

Date night with the grandkids

By Mireya A |

Entertainment and great food combined! The filet lignin and lemon chicken was outstanding ....the service was excellent and our cook , Luis, was very attentive to all of our special requests. Thanks for making our date night with the kids so great!

DELIGHTFUL LUNCH, GREAT AMBIENCE!

By Maria R |

If you find yourself shopping at Dadeland Mall this is a must! Great place to stop and take a break from shopping. The food is delicious and they serve great drinks. The service is excellent. It is the same concept as Benihana and Samurai with a twist!

Not our best lunch.

By Ringsy |

Hungry and limited choices available. Decided this would work. It wasn’t anything I’d go back for again. The server Gustav, was pleasant and the nearest thing to a high point of the experience. We tried the overcooked, Crispy Pigs ears, the soggy, over-sauced, Firecracker Shrimp Tempura, the Wagyu & Beef Tongue skewers and the Korubuta sausages. Overall it was edible but nothing excited us at all. If we were in the area again we would certainly look elsewhere.

Great food at a good price

By David B |

My Japanese SO and I stopped there for lunch when shopping at Dadeland. We got a table outside. She had beef donburi and salad and I had bulgori with kimoche, rice and salad. Both of us found that the food was very good and the price with tea was just $22.14. If you like Japanese food and are in Dadeland Mall shopping, I highly recommend that you give Aoki a try.

Not coming back for sushi

By Corti_3 |

Terrible sushi. Great wine Good service Not coming back Server was amazing and wine was great as well BUT sushi had frozen fish and earl was burnt

Food excellent but service slow and concerned about prep

By Jeanine S |

Went here for a snack and wine. The happy hour menu was great. Our server upon arriving was very attentive. That is where it fell flat. Food was excellent. Sat at the sushi bar. A little dismayed that the sushi prep was done without gloves and the wasabi and ginger was placed on the plate ungloved. Waited 15 mins for a second glass of wine. Overall not bad, but wish I had not see the bare hands prepping my food.

Wonderfull food fantastic service

By Guillermo B |

Best restaurant and service at Dadeland mall. Wonderfull teppanyaki, wonderfull and kind teppan Chef. Don’t miss the food and show. Congratulations and Thanks for our wonderfull experience.

Japanese steakhouse and more

By Marime05 |

My family loves japanese steakhouses. We actually try to visit one everywhere we go. Aoki was a pleasant experience. Made reservations online, as we were 7. Once in the restaurant, which by the way is in the new addition at Dadeland Mall in Miami (great location with valet parking feet away), we were seated right away. The atmosphere is awesome. No noise from the air extractors on top of each table, no smoke in the room. I was very surprised to see the prices for lunch happy hour on Sundays. Unbelievable!!! Food was prepared very well, and each one had it prepared individually. Great experience, great food, and service was ok. We will definitely go back!

Not the best

By hubbyfamily |

We went this past Sunday for my son’s 19th bday. Made 6:30 reservations and they asked if it was a birthday to which I responded “yes.” We got there at 6:30 and waited for 15 minutes even though it rather empty and then, though asking if we wanted our own table, they sat us with others. Once seated at our table...no one came to greet us. After 15-20 minutes we found someone and asked for a waitress and some water. Immediately we see someone go to the table next to us and refill their water glasses. Another 5 minutes goes by and still no one approaches. We now go find a manager and a the same waitress who filled the water glasses at the next table, comes over shortly after and says, “Sorry, I didn’t know this was my table...that happens a lot.” I let her know that she probably shouldn’t tell customers that. After that all was good, except a drink the other people at table (who weren’t with us) ended up on our bill and it took so long for the waitress to bring us our bill...I didn’t dispute it...just reflected it in her tip. Would I go back...probably not. Food was good and the habachi chef was great...but not worth waiting around basically for what amounted to 45 minutes on a night when it wasn’t busy.

Good Japanese

By Andrea C |

We ordered the shrimp. All entrees came with vegetable rice, vegetables, and a salad. The salad was large. The rice could have benefited from more garlic and butter. The shrimp were not as tasty as at other places. We got 7 shrimp per order. Service was spotty. The chef was not very personable. Price was fair. Good for a lunch if you are in Dadeland Mall. Would not make a special trip to go there.

Underwhelming

By TravelingFoodie |

I gave this place 3 yet it is just a little below that. Only stopped by because we were shopping in the mall. The rolls are like the ones you get in a supermarket or even below that, so was the sashimi plate. The beef teriyaki was chewy and not very tasty, the ribs so so, the miso soup most likely instant. You are seriously better off buying the stuff in a supermarket. Service was efficient but it is not a place I will be back to.

Average restaurant

By Matt L |

We had a good meal, a bit pricey, the cook was the best seemed really none interested compared to others cooking for other tables. Probably wouldn't go back.

Nice food, good experience

By Søren N |

Fat experience where the chef at the table really makes a show for our table. The food also tasted great 😊 when ma N coming from the outside the menu card can well be a little difficult to find out.

Unimpressed

By 559jas |

I went with my parents The service could've been better. We sat outside the restaurant because said there were no available seats inside. On a Sunday night? There wasn't a soul in the mall. Well they sat us and we were forgotten about. Took them forever to get us drinks and take out order. Quite honesty, the food was mediocre at best. The service... well, for a restaurant that hardly had any patrons, it seemed they were having a hard time keeping up. Needless to say, I don't think I'll ever step foot there again.

Good for lunch

By RenatodiCaprio |

Kids were happy. Had the sushi. Didn’t think the hamachi was great at all. I would have given it three stars; the 5 kids say four. So four it is. It’s fine when shopping at the Dadeland mall. But would DEFINETELY not go there for this restaurant😀

New Fusion: Flies and Customers

By Ricardo J |

It is our second time here, but the quality, service and cleanliness change abruptly. Service terrible; served by a lady with an English pronunciation was a challenge; Food; High price compare to tiny portions and regular quality. Cleaning Horrible: we sat at the bar, facing the food preparation. The Chefs without gloves, masks and with the appearance of poor grooming. All this enlivened with a permanent dance of flies around the food and commensals.

Beautiful Japanese Restaurant

By mrt01748 |

Excellent food. Japanese at its best. Extraordinary prompt, courteous, and reasonable prices. Most delicious food at the very best price in the Dadeland Mall.We will come back.

Need a lot of trainig

By Andre O |

We arrive and the recepcionist are in a "private" meeting didn't care about us. A chef tooks us in and inform there are a happy hour promotion. He adress us to a table and them a someone comes on and moves a us to empty one, teppanyaki need some people more. Them the waiter comes and have no idea about the happy hour specials, she need to ask. I ask if with the change of table will take longer, she said yes. We went to another restaurant!!!

Great Japanese steakhouse style place with yummy cocktails

By lahelsel |

Enjoyed the meal cooked in front of us and not the same old "Japanese steakhouse" menu you can find in suburban America. Good cocktails and happy hour. Worth the trip!

Gotta try this place! Excellent!

By Captain Charles G |

I stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed the scallops with fried rice and vegetables. The food was fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection by an entertaining chef and I was pampered by an attentive staff. Try it....you will love it from its Japanese menu to it's authentic ambiance & theme.

Amazing mango sushi

By Juliette1920 |

I always go to the bar and take advantage of the happy hour menu, Some of the rolls are half price and also the drinks. Even do the Mango roll in not on the :) hr. its amazing ! I love the rice with chicken as well. Bartender is always friendly and the outside seating is nice since you can see downtown dad eland at night.

Birthday lunch

By bevsboys |

On Friday, I enjoyed a delicious hibachi lunch experience for a friend’s birthday. This was my first visit to Aoki and I will definitely return.

Good Lunch

By ADM12 |

Visited for lunch on a Sunday. We had to sit by the Sushi bar, which wasn't bad as it wasn't busy in that area (compared to the rest of the restaurant) and we wanted to get sushi. The food was decent, over priced however.

Superb!

By Shaynet R |

As we waited for our table we hit the bar which had a great atmosphere and great drinks. We didn't wait long to get seated. Our waitress waa friendly and helpful. Our chef had a great personality and had us laughing the entire time. He showed great cooking skills and did some tricks to keep us engaged. The food was DELISH must try their eggplant chips..amazing. Food was seasoned perfectly...steak was cooked to everyone liking. Beautiful restaurant. Their environment feels warm and inviting. Loved it and must go again!

Not so good...

By germanmiami |

The restaurant is mediocre at minimum. Be warned they do not carry coca cola or pepsi products. Food was ok and a but expensive. I would not recommend this restaurant..

try Benihana best!!

By Gustavo G |

We went there because the teppanyaki, and iot was really poor the service and the food, that's why it was so lonely at lunch time.

Great food and great prices

By Albert W |

Three of us ate at Aoki Tepanyaki in Dadeland Mall. The food was excellent, the services great and the prices right. Parking was no problem as it is located in the mall and there is also valet parking.

Worst service ever!!!

By tvkandi86 |

Let's start with the good. Love the idea of the all day happy hour. The food was reasonably priced and quite good. I actually liked the tuna tataki so much that I ordered 2 of it. Both the rolls ( spicy tuna and soft shell crab) were delicious with beautiful presentation. But the service!!! I sat at the sushi bar for almost 10 minutes till my waiter approched me. He was ignorant, didn't even offer me water, checked on me to see if I liked the food or picked up my empty plates. My cocktail took an other 10 minutes though the place wasn't busy. The sushi chef, Aric was very nice, engaged in a conversation. I would advise the management to pay more attention to the quality of service since the food is pretty good, but I'll never go back again thanks to the horrible service.

Enjoyable Hibachi!

By Thomas1900 |

Their Hibachi tables seat 8 people, which is smaller than what we’re used to. It gave our group of 7 a close view of all the action. Most of us had the $24.50 chicken/shrimp combo, which included salad. However, no soup or dessert/cookie. Coke was $2.50! Free refills! Cooks are Hispanic, not oriental! But very entertaining!

Good food but poor service and too expensive

By VickyLondon_England |

There is a wide choice of food on the menu and when it arrives it tastes quite good but the service is very slow and the waitress we had was far too pushy. The man who cooked the food in front of us was friendly but must have been either new or nervous as he dropped the knife during his knife routine and dropped other utensils on the floor as well as cooking and serving the fried rice at least ten minutes before the rest of the food was ready, by which time the rice was stone cold. I would not go back here again.

Interesting cuisine

By Kris D |

we have visited several times over the last 7 months. The service, atmosphere are all excellent. the food is unique because is a combination of sushi, Asian fusion, and hibachi style cooking. prices can be a bit pricey but also reasonable depending on how you order. Food is very good, they have a full bar with interesting Saki.

Pricey and slow

By Dan B |

Way understaffed at this location. The service team was slow to greet and then forgot to put an order for one of our entrees. Never checked back with us through out the entire meal. But when it came time to pay the check was processed super fast! Sushi was standard. I'd say: keep looking if you want sushi in Miami.

Very average

By martinbollers |

For starters the chicken livers were good. Stay away from the calamari. And the rolls were just ok, ginger beer was nice though. Overall not good value.

Outstanding Japanese value

By Leslie Y |

Aboard the NCL Bliss, we dined at Teppanyaki. The chef masterfully displayed his culinary skills. We both had the steak and shrimp combo. Best tasting shrimp ever. Tender, fresh and flavourful. The steak was perfect! Rice was so yummy.

The best dessert EVER

By Jorge A |

Ok... I have eaten in many places and many countries and I can tell you that the crusted brownie (I think with hazelnuts) with ice cream on top is one of the most amazing things I have ever tried.

good taste, nice experience

By Robbiecuba |

Good to go with the family and friends, nice location and the service just perfect for us. No too much waiting and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend this place.

Sunday Lunch

By nibaldom2015 |

Decided to have late lunch with the family. We arrived and seated us promptly, but it did take awhile for our waitress to take our drinks and appetizers, after ordering our meal we then waited for our drinks. Finally we got our drinks, the chef starts cooking our food and asked the waitress about our appetizers and she had forgotten to place it with the Sushi bar. Overall, the food was good but the service was terrible. Happy Dining.

Understaffed and bad management

By Adalver A |

We made a reservation for 6 PM, we sat down, placed our order and ordered drinks. After 1 1/2 hour sitting down, we had yet to have our food begin to be prepared. We stood up and left. No one from management came to apologize for the wait. Not looking to coming back anytime soon.

Good Atmosphere Good Food

By Lewis F |

I enjoyed my lunch here. The food was good and it was a relaxing space and easy to have a conversation while eating. The waiter we had seemed disinterested in his job!

Good But expensive

By leon c |

It’s a good Japanese food restaurant The menu it’s ok , it is not a traditional Japanese look more a fast food restaurant The price it’s a little expensive The service it’s ok The place it’s ok inside of the mall

Awesome Food, Great Presentation, Fantastic Service...

By RickD777 |

The Aoki in the Dadeland Mall recently opened and we decided to give it a try. The lunch menu looked very interesting and the aromas spilling out into the mall pulled us in. Definite recommendation. The lunch portions are very generous, I had the strip steak and shrimp combo, it came with a huge salad (spinning salad they call it) stir fried vegetables, and a unique fried rice made with five difference types of rice. Very nice. All this for $14.00. And our cook, (performer - he was a trip) was gracious, funny and very friendly. Check it out, they also have a sushi menu, we did not try it, but our server made some recommendations for our next visit.

Back again when shopping over in Dadeland Mall

By David B |

Enjoyed another meal here while doing some shopping in Dadeland Mall. I enjoy the taste and quality of the food, although it is not entirely authentic Japanese food.
