Good food, friendly service

By Laura K |

Arabian Nights serves very delicious Lebanese food. I love that cuisine so not much to say than great stuff here! The service is not your American pushy style but nice and friendly. The place is not anything fancy and the decoration is nothing special but that didn't bother me. I had a delicious meal in Arabian Nights.

Excellent food, wine and service

By centralcoastguy |

From the warm fresh baked pit bread, to the excellent baba ganoush, to the fun sampler platters, vegie plates and shish kabobs, this restaurant kept the great (and reasonably priced) food coming. We had several bottles of good white and red wine as well. We finished with some moist and fresh baklava. The waitress from Kyrgyzstan was very attentive and nice. My only complaint would be the difficulty of finding nearby parking. The food was worth the walk from our parking.

Delicious kebabs in Mission!

By SasMonti |

I can’t get enough of this place. I love Mediterranean food but especially this place, it has gone beyond my expectations. I’ve only dined in the restaurant twice and it is a lovely Arabian theme restaurant in the Mission. I order here every week through Postmates. I’ve tried the Fried Kebbe which is seasoned lamb stuffed with pine nuts in a roll. It’s a bit dry for my liking. The Philo Cheese Rolls with feta cheese, a little rich and oily but delicious. The hummus and tabbouleh is delicious. What I keep coming back for is the: • Salmon - it’s moist and seasoned well • Kafta Meshwi kebab is my ultimate favorite is the minced lamb & beef is flavorful and just delicious •Labneh - yogurt with mint and garlic. I dip the kebabs in this sauce to make each bite even more explosive. I always ask for extra garlic paste and put it in the Labneh gives it even more of a kick. I recommend anyone to try it! I love anything lamb

Fabulous Mediterranean Food But Needs Better Facilities Upkeep

By widening8horizons |

I went to Arabian Nights with a few friends on a recent trip to San Francisco. I eat Mediterranean food pretty often. The restaurant location is great and the atmosphere is pleasant. I was very impressed with the food; everything our group had was delicious. Loved the fried cauliflower and the chicken shawarma. The only disappointment were the restrooms. They were dirty and, instead of toilet paper, someone had haphazardly thrown packages of napkins in each stall. That was just weird.

Second visit NOT GOOD!

By mary margaret b |

I had previously visited this restaurant previously to rave reviews for the food and service with friends. I noticed they were now opened for lunch. On a Sunday in March my husband and I, en route to Sacramento went there for a meal. We arrived about 2:30P and were told the chef had just left. The receptionist/waitress then checked with the manager who said he would accommodate us. GREAT! This was unfortunate. We proceeded to have a mediocre meal with less than timely service. A fueding family entered the restaurant. They demanded and got primary attention of the waitress. We waited for our drinks, appetizer and then a long wait for an over done fish dish. The other party came in after us and they were served in a timely fashion even though they were having family issues and disturbing interactions. The chef reappreared and was subsequently "fired" as we were told by the manager, because he was drunk. Needless to say I was VERY disappointed. The hummus was excellent. The bread was made fresh in a stone oven. AND previously the food was excellent. No second chances here!!

WARAK ENAB = Dolmas

By Dvnone |

We stared with the warak enab or as I know them dolmas. They had a delicious filling but I asked for more lemon because I love my dolmas tart. I had the kakta kabob and my husband had the chicken swarma. My kakta was perfectly seasoned and moist. The pilaf was a perfect accompaniment. This was served with a grilled onion, tomatoe and red pepper. There was not a grain of rice left on my plate! My husband's chicken was amazing as well. He ordered fries with his order which I thought was kind of weird, but they were perfectly executed...crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Our meals were served with warm puffy pita bread that was like no other that I've had before. This is now my FAVORITE Mediterranean restaurant!

Outstanding

By Taliakaia |

From the appetizers to the delicious lamb and chicken dishes, the food at Arabian Nights is fresh and authentic. It is seasoned to appeal to those diners who seek the real cuisine of the region. Note, the baklava is moist and fresh, not to be missed. It offers a sweet ending to a wonderful meal. Further, the dining experience is greatly enhanced by the privacy rendered by the size of the restaurant and spacing of tables. Nobody is shouting in your ear from the next table. This restaurant is a true find.

Yummmy!

By TheHappyWanderer88 |

We were actually heading to another restaurant when we came across Arabian nights and it looked pretty good that we decided to eat there. The food was fantastic! We are vegetarians but there were some options ( We didn't end up going through the entire menu as we found the items we loved so just stuck to those). Everything from the dips to the falafel and the breads were delicious. The only one item which was disappointing was the Batata Hara (thus gave this restaurant a 4 rating). It looked good but tasted bland. The potato did not seem to have any flavour - no salt no spice. But otherwise the meal was yummmmy!

Schwarma

By Aaron C |

My girlfriend and I ate dinner here last summer. We were both really impressed with the food! She had schwarma, and I had a beef dish. Both were really flavored and plates were filling. Good prices and good service. If you like Lebanese food, you should check this place out! We really enjoyed our meal and drinks. Hope this helps someone make a decision and have a good dinner one night.

Not enough and too expansive

By danity50 |

First of all, the restaurant had a very nice ambiance. The portions of food are very small. You will not be full. However, I had the lamb, chicken, beef, combo and it was delicious.. The food is outstanding. A+ The service lacks as our waitress was inattentive to our needs. We hardly saw her and had to call her multiple times for our drinks.

Delicious, Authentic, Off The Beaten Path

By arkady39 |

This low-key restaurant serves authentic, delicious Arabic-Yemeni food. This is not a place to see and be seen, and I hope it stays this way. The food is simple and non greasy. Be sure to have their tea and order the fish dish (trout or salmon). This place is traditional and doesn't service alcohol. If you want to surprise someone who likes authentic, non-mainstream dining, this is the place to go. Even most locals don't know about it.

Great food, good service - dusty display

By docfish7 |

All perfect, the restaurant doesn’t look from outside how it looks from inside. Just clean the front glass at the street, then you gonna attract people from the street too. Enjoy👌

yum yum yum.... this is the real thing

By KirbyM3 |

The best hummas, lamb, & everything else... fabulous food...the owner is very nice. The service well... meh

Delightful surprise in the Mission.

By abbennett |

The (indoor) dining room was cavernous, but nicely decorated. Service was excellent and attentive. Between us two diners we ordered six dishes, five appetizers and an entree. Everything was prepared perfectly and presented tastefully. Tastes and textures were perfect. It's hard to imagine how it could have been any better.

An impromptu Christmas Dinner

By Robinob |

When at the last minute the restaurant that you booked for Christmas dinner informs you that there is s 95.00 pp price fixed menu what do you do??? Scramble. The menu left much to be desired.. along with the 25.00 corkage fee. Sooooo we searched for an alternative venue. Not much to choose from. Arabian Nights was open and accepted our reservation. It was fabulous!!! From the appetizers to the main course it did not disappoint. I think we found a new restaurant to add to our repertoire! We will be back.. and the corkage fee was 15.00!!!

Intimate settings, great food!

By Anita |

The place was suggested by our son, and this was a great choice for an Anniversary date. The decor and layout was appealing and the food was excellent. We started with Baba Ghannouj and Fried Kebbe. My entree was Lamb Kabob and my husband order was Shish Taouk. We enjoyed the food and even had left overs for the next day.

Fantastic!

By JaneRyder |

We visited during our holiday and having read other reviews, I was so glad we tried it. The food is incredible and the staff were very knowledgable so could suggest different things for us to try. The salmon was delicious! We went back many times during our stay in San Francisco! I’d highly recommend visiting!

Unexpected stopover

By sanjayaman |

We were actually biding 45 minutes to get to Gracias Madre next door (which we sadly didn't like later)...but this was a pleasant surprise...it seems new but the little we had, the food was beyond awesome, and the service (a young petite Mid-eastern I think lady) was very good indeed. Try their Batata Harra ...incredible...also their hot house-bread (like hot Naans) with some very interesting dipping sauce...we will be back for a full meal...but hopefully the iceberg is as good as the tip ...a gave a generous tip in return too (over 20%)...!

Delicious Lebanese cuisine

By M A |

Was introduced to this restaurant by my brothers Lebanese wife and daughter - they insisted we eat here as it truly represents a taste of Lebanon. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Be sure to order a number of small plates and a variety of kebabs.

Fantastic food, not the typical selections

By TRyanManzella |

I reviewed this venue on Yelp too, but we liked it so much that I want folks here to know about it as well. We have been to many Middle-Eastern restaurants, because we really enjoy the food, but the selections tend to be very similar. We found items on the menu at Arabian Nights that were not standard fare, and they were terrific. Our Living Social certificate was sitting out on the table the whole time, but the servers didn't treat us like we were using a coupon at all. The atmosphere was lovely, and we wish the restaurant were in our city!

This was my introduction...

This was my introduction to Arabian food and it was awesome. They also had belly dancing which was cool.

Delicious Lebanese Cuisine in the Mission District

By DharmaDude007 |

We were pleased to discover this restaurant even though it was off the beaten track. The food was authentic and delicious and reasonably priced. Although simple dishes, the fattoush and the hummus were incredible. If you enjoy Lebanese cuisine, you must visit this restaurant.

Underwhelemed

By larryderm |

Our experience was dreadful. The restaurant is spartan, and the acoustics are awful. Although we were seated quickly, there was a lapse before the orders were taken. When the mezza arrived, there was no bread. The excuse was that they were baking it. The bread finally arrived, but several items were too spicy to be enjoyed. The lamb kebob was mediocre, and the kafta was dreadful could not be eaten. The service was slow and inattentive. The reviews for the most part do not match up with this restaurant. The atmosphere is rustic at best. The paper cover over the tablecloths is a turn off. The xeroxed menus are stained and wrinkled. In rereading the previous reviews, we wondered if we had been to a different restaurant. In summation, this establishment is a no-no.

Delicious and unique

By BigCigs |

It's not necessarily a 5 star restaurant, but the food is excellent and it's an excellent value as well. Plus, the food is very unique, it's a nice change of pace from standard restaurant cuisine.

Halal and Shisha

By WorldTraveler Z |

I am here for a week, on my 3rd day We found this place, and may I say finally. I hesitated at first when I saw the window of this place, it looked dirty, old and weird. My husband insisted on going inside and check, he came back with 👍🏼sign. Once you step inside it's a different world. A big place, open kitchen, and a balcony-kind of a space for shisha smokers. The food is amazing, typical Lebanese, great taste and clean (just had too much salt in my dish). I ordered the chef's special and lentil soup. The shisha is really good, take this from an expert, simple and mixed flavors upon request too. The ambiance is nice and the service was pretty good. I found the price reasonable.

Great food and service

By Mark S |

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Arabian nights, food was authentic (having been to the Middle East numerous times), staff were good with the owner being very welcoming! (in true Middle Eastern style). Would be very happy to eat there again.

Delicious Mediterranean!!

Everything here is delicious and is a much better alternative than the pricy downtown San Francisco restaurants.

My wish was granted at Arabian Nights

By John M |

First of all I must compliment the service that I received at Arabian Nights the Staff was friendly, informed and helpful as this was our first time here. The food is fantastic we had at our table two apps the Kebbe which was good but needed some type of dipping sauce maybe Labne, we also had the quail very delicious this is so easy to overcook but was perfect. Three different entrees the lamb chops were delicious served with rice or fries and some roasted tomatoes and onions, sampler platter with ribeye kabob so tender, baba ganoush lovely smoked flavor and a good hummous , tabouli is very flavorful. The senihet kafta which is a mixed ground beef and lamb was a little boring need more texture and something else to punch up the flavor. I will be coming back. I love the fact that we were there late and they were closing and the staff had there evening meal out in the restaurant family style. I know this is a family owned place because the owner came up and was very pleasant and is a great character. The decor is beautiful middle easter with out being over the top. Definately a place for couples or parties. They are open till 10 or 11pm depending upon night full bar and decent wine list.

A Very Nice Night at Arabian Night

By Ms_Gary |

We ate quite early, as we had tickets for a show at 8pm. So we were the only diners at first at 5:15, though others came in later to dine and to the bar. It was very quiet except for the music, and as the dining room is separated from the bar area, I would expect it to never be too loud. Our waiter, Ahmad, was extremely pleasant and attentive. The food was very good!! We will be sure to come back if we are going to dine in SF (as we live in Palo Alto).

Surprise in the Mission

By SFCAcruiser |

Visited as result of a Groupon offer, and the waiter was quite familiar with how to handle this small transaction. We were pleasantly surprised by the decor, food quality and service. The good-natured owner/manager checked on us several times and was perhaps a bit overly solicitous. We were a party of four and we shared all of the dishes, so we got to taste a variety of food. The pita bread is baked on site and comes out "puffy" and delicious. We had to remind each other not to fill up on this item. We tried the two desserts and enjoyed both of them. We expected the ubiquitous baklava to be the same as what we have had elsewhere, but it was better done at Arabian Nights. Restaurant is located in a trendy block of the Mission (close to Mission Chinese) but parking was not a problem. We will return when we want good Middle Eastern-Lebanese food.

Very enjoyable

By 5heartfamily |

We enjoy Lebanese food, and found that this restaurant offers a selection of authentic dishes, all tastily prepared. We started with an array of cold and hot mezzas, and especially liked their Kibbe, and Baba Ganoush served with delicious, warm, pita bread. The chicken shwarma was different than others we've had, but the flavor was great. The service staff were very attentive. In comparison to other SF restaurants, the prices are reasonable for fresh, good quality ethnic dishes. Note: Parking lot next door fills-up early, street parking is next to impossible, and this area is still in the process of "gentrification".

Excellent Experience for Several Reasons

By Steve L |

My group of 4 had a great time at Arabian Nights due to the combination of service that was attentive but not bothersome, great food, good beers, and hooka. I hadn’t smoked a hooka in 4 years and didn’t realize I could here. It was a pleasant surprise and a nice treat. They have a nice selection of hot and cold mezza plates and the beef shawarma is amazing. We spent 3 hours and the time flew by.
