We came in for tapas and this how it fared. Cocktails are good, empanadas were compared to hot pockets by my extremely honest wife and the check was surprisingly pricey. We did not embrace much of the menu, but may not want the to if we need to refinance to eat dinner!

Beautiful evening with Lisa Zane as entertainment. Restaurant and club has live music. We happened to come to see Lisa Zane and her band do a compilation of Argentinian tango, mambo, French and American songs. She has an amazing range. The flamenco style guitar player is at a masters level. They were also accompanied by an excellent base and percussion. Hostess gave us the best seat in the house, directly in front of the stage. Food and service were excellent. We had empanadas to start, followed by a combination platter of steaks. Drinks were excellent as well. We had martini's and pineapple mohito's. We will definitely return. Restaurant is in a nice area on Lincoln square. Outdoor café is available

We booked a sitting last Sunday for 8 people for 20.00hrs. When we arrived we were the only customer and we seated at the window. The waiter did not give us enough time to peruse the menu, he kept coming over asking were ready. We had to tell him to give us more time. When the food was served he hovered around the table and when some one finished their plate was whipped away not waiting the rest of the party to finish. We felt he was pressurising us to hurry up so he could close up even though we could have booked a later sitting. He tried to get one of the party order a more expensive bottle of wine even though he was told he did not like it. He made a remark about them not able to afford it. When we finished we asked if we could have some cheesecake to go and he told us the kitchen was now closed . that was at 21.30hrs. They are open until 22.00hrs. Not a good experience.

This restaurant was wonderful. First of all, lots of parking right in front of the restaurant FREE!!! Unheard of for downtown Chicago. Had the Tues-Thurs deal 3 course special. Wonderful grilled provoletta, empanadas, seafood paella, entrana with julienne veggies and mashed potatoes and dulce de leche crepes. Since I have an Argentine husband, we usually visit Argentine restaurants wherever we go in the US. This is one of the best I have ever been to. The atmosphere is romantic, darkly lit with tango music playing. We also had the free tango lesson offered during the week, with wonderful instructors. It was a great night. Looking forward to return. Look at their website for details of their specials and dance lessons.

My wife and I went here for an anniversary dinner. From the moment you walked in you felt welcomed and engulfed by a wonderful vibe. The cocktails were great and the steak and octopus was even better. I can’t wait to go back

Very nice restaurant with a good city vibe. We had the empanadas and ceviche. The empanadas were very flavorful and full of stuffing (unlike many restaurants). The ceviche crudo was very good but a bit sparse (6 slices of fish). More like Argentinian sashimi. We also had the paella which was good but a bit disappointing. I think they make it far in advance and then grill it for a few minutes since it seemed overly dry. Still good but just a tad dry. The Oblivion desert was very good as well. Drinks are their speciality with a lot of variety. Only thing missing was a good Cava.

Went here for my birthday and couldn’t have chosen a better place to dine in. The food was delicious! My partner and I had the “Para Compartir (Shared Plate) with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and sweet plantains topped with an alcoholic beverage “Mango Basil Margarita”; which was made at perfection. The steaks were flavored and well made to our taste: medium well done. Classic Spanish music in the background with the dimed lights made it a romantic dinner and enjoyable social time. To end our night the waiter surprised me with a delightful dessert (“San Telmo” I believed it’s called. It had flan, mango, strawberry, coconut strips, edible flower pedals, and chocolate ice cream). He solo sang HB song along with my partner making my day extra special. Great place and food overall 10/10! Definitely be back for another dine in.

Nice space and people, great service, very good food. Shrimp appetizer, salmon, octopus, gnocchi all excellent. Decent sparklers/drink selection. In Lincoln Square.

Artango is a hidden gen in Lincoln Square. The food is delicious. The cocktails are wonderful! Try the compadrito to start and the para compartir. The three cuts of meat with accompanying sauces are lovely. The fried potatoes are crisp, complementing the beef beautifully. The floor show is fun. FYI the show usually starts around 8.

If you like to have a really flavorful steak, this might be a good place for you. A group of us went there on Xmas Eve and ordered a wide variety of things...and ALL of us were really pleased. Even the ceviche trio (which I am not a fan of) was delicious! The meat is cooked to perfection and the chimichurri sauce was fabulous. There was live music that night as there often is (and tango dancing) which gets quite noisy, but I'm looking forward to going back to celebrate a birthday in a couple of weeks. Located in lovely Lincoln Square.

The decor of this restaurant is unique. Their cocktails are refreshing. However, our experience last night at Artango on 2/3/2018 was lackluster. We were not at all impressed with the service and taste of the food. We were a four top and seated in the worse corner of the room, right next to the door so all the cold can come our way. The food runners did not know who ordered what dish or even delivered someone elses dish to our table. When I informed our waiter the danzarin cocktail we ordered did not have one of the ingredients he completely brushed it off, no reaction. The salad was delicious and well prepared and so were the desserts. My husbands steak was coated with salt. When this was addressed to the waiter, again he was non responsive. My husband actually told him he was not going to pay for the steak. The steak comes with humungous potatoe wedges - meh. There is also a curry-like flavor in the chimichurri which is horrible! Where is the garlic?! I would not return to Artango. If you want really good Artengina cusine in Chicago, go to Tango Sur.

I went to Artango for the 2nd time this weekend and was totally underwhelmed. The live music was fun but the food was cold (soup, steak, and fries) and the waiter was so overwhelmed, we couldn't even get him back to the table to ask to send it back. I think the prices are high for what you get and I think there are way better Latin Steak Restaurants all over the city! I would not recommend.

Wow, well service is outstanding and the food is delicious. Presentation is awesome. Prices aware a bit high but I think very well worth it. The night we went they had a couple that did a tango dance. A must try for sure.

First time here and won't be the last. This is such a AMAZING place. Only is kinda hidden but service, atmosphere, music, food is so good.

Went there with few girl friends for Ian Maksin’s cello concert, not expecting much out of the place, this place looks amazing! The service is outstanding! The food was delicious! We shared whole bunch of dishes; ceviche, empanadas, steak, paella and dessert. Everything was fantastic- I couldn’t say what was more delicous! I definitely recommend it for an intimate date, girl/guy gathering, excellent music experience with delicious dinner or just coffee and dessert ( also of great quality). Will be back soon!

We arrived for our reservation at 645pm it was great no waiting our table was ready. The food was incredible and the dessert to die for, I will definitely come here for another date or hang out with a good friend, also it's BYOB so definitely a plus!! Staff very attentive and all I could say I can't wait to go back and see some Argentian Tango.

Fantastic time. Argentina food. All good. Service was excellent Argentina dancing lessons on Tuesday start at 7:30 pm... Music on speakers very mellow. The Restaurant has live Music on weekends which I understand is excellent. Another customer we had conversation with says guest entertainment comes from Argentina periodically and all other entertainment is also Brazilian also.

I loved the atmosphere!!!! The staff was extremely attentive and the owners came over to talk with us to insure that we had a wonderful time. The food was ok, but I REALLY ENJOYED the Polenta and probably could have eaten that ALL NIGHT!!!! The extra bonus was watching everyone Tango. Made me want to step on the dance floor for a minute...then I saw that the folks dancing were way too advanced for my 2-step! Great experience overall!

Dined there on a Monday night. Sat outside on the patio. The beef empanadas were better this time that the last. The Pulpo a la Parrilla is always one of my favorites. I usually order the Ojo de Bife, but decided to go with the Paella del Sur. Another great choice. Small paella was perfect, but I could have ordered the 3-4 paella and could have probably polished it all off. The wines are alway a good selection. Nice open space with great staff.

Checked out Artango as part of Restaurant Week. Outstanding experience. Ceviche and Empanada appetizers were spot on and the steak? Perfect. Looking forward to sharing a tasting plate on the next visit. Combine great food with a lively atmosphere and efficient service and you get a premium dining experience in Lincoln Square.

This was our first visit to this relatively new restaurant in the Square. Certainly will not be our last. Ceviche sampler was very good. Very different from Mexican ones. Big on the fish / shrimp with interesting seasonings. Steaks and accompaniments were good as was the vanilla bean (aka crème brule) dessert. Staff were helpful, knowledgeable and prepared to joke with you. Noticeable that they work together as a team so anyone passing by will react and not just leave you to wait for your specific server. One thing that we overlooked on our first visit was that most of the steak dishes come on a heavy steel sizzler. They seem to arrive cooked accurately as requested. So if your taste is, for example, medium rare remember to order rare or blue to avoid the experience of a very nice juicy steak trending to well done as you eat it.

Glad that they moved. Nice ambience with a great wine selection. Enjoyed the well prepared Pulpo a la Parilla, with a very nice Argentinian wine from the Patagonian region along with some empanadas and the Churrasco de Chorizo. The Caprese saiad was lacking as it had very little tomatoes and lots of greens. Overall the food and service was great. On certain days, they have live music and Tango dancing and Tango classes.

We came here on a whim and were VERY impressed - one of the best skirt steaks I've ever had, friendly service and a uniquely artistic, romantic dining space. BYOB policy adds to the already great value. Will definitely be back!

We passed by 2 weeks ago and the gave out sample margaritas and I was sold. Came back today for dinner and the food was fabulous and service was great. Our wait staff knew about the food. We had the Ceviche Trio, beef empanadas for appetizers. Malbec beef ribs and roast chicken for main. The beef ribs were fall of the bone tender and flavorful. For dessert we had the limoncello gelato. Everything was wonderful and we highly recommend this place.

The restaurant is set up to allow for tango classes and demonstration on particular nights. The menu is limited but showcases many South a]American classics. The ceviche was great one night and very mediocre the next time. Lamb pasta is a bit "picante" but overall good. The churrasco is very good with garlic mashed potatoes and guacamole. The desserts were just ok lots of parking, always a plus in the city.

I don't know what I was expecting when we went to this out of the way restaurant built in former industrial space, but what we got was an art studio, a dance studio and a great restaurant serving South American food, all in one! The space is industrial chic. There is no attempt to hide the fact that this was a factory of some sort in an earlier life. Rather that history is embraced. It is then countered and contrasted by art that is abstract and modern, including photography that creates worlds that are hypnotic and the viewing of which is worth the visit alone. The food is very good. I recommend that you try the ceviches. We had the Trio De Chivches, which is a chef's tasting of ceviches. Three different varieties of fish were offered with three very different methods of preparation. We also had the arepas and the empanadas, both excellent. The two somewhat exotic main dishes we tried were the Rocoto Relleno (a bell pepper stuffed whit veggies and smothered in cheese) and the Cazuela Chilena (braised oxtail). If you have never had braised oxtail, do try it. It was melt in the mouth magnificent, comfort food. Perfectly braised beef set on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables, surrounded by a thick gravy. We can also highly recommend the crepe dessert topped with homemade carmel. And then there is the tango dancing. You should check for times before you go. There is both beginners and advanced and a free lesson is given. The dancing is, of course, optional. So, if dancing is not your thing you can just sit and watch. I want to emphasize just how much fun this experience was. Every aspect of the evening was an unexpected surprise - the industrial atmosphere, the art, the dance and the food. You should go!

Went for the Flamenco Show on Aug. 18. Great performers. Also had dinner, enjoyed the empanada, pulpo, and paella. Planning on returning soon for more.

There were 13 of us. The older couples each shared appetizers (empanadas and cerviche) and each shared an entree (mostly steak entrees) and still could not finish. The steaks (ribeye, sirloin, NY Strip) were fine, but not outstanding. The sauces were interesting. The highlight of the meal was a couple entertaining us with the Tango on the stage, followed by music.

My wife and I ate here with a group of friends and LOVED it! Excellent food, great ambiance, great service and after dinner we got a big surprise. They cleared the tables in the middle of the restaurant and about 15 couples did the tango for about an hour. It was amazing and so much fun. The tango is a beautiful and sensual dance andwe thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

We were looking for something different and this Argentine restaurant had been recommended. It had a nice patio for outdoor seating. The inside space is very attractive. We tried the eggplant and lentil appetizer and the ensalda verde for starters. Both were very good. The salad is embellished with hearts of palm, avocado and a quail egg. Much better than a standard house salad. For entrees we had the half chicken and the NY strip steak. Delicious! The steak was tender, flavorful and grilled to perfect temperature. Steak comes with tasty dipping sauces. Chicken was moist and nicely seasoned. Enjoyed their very good house margaritas and a flan flavored with cinnamon for dessert. Service was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a few questions about ingredients and preparation of some menu items and our server patiently offered detailed descriptions. When we go back I want to try the paella.

This is an amazing place. The food was great, there was live music and the drinks were top notch. Our server was awesome. He was very attentive but not obtrusive. They have live music on certain nights. The night we went it was two guitar players. Amazingly talented, beautiful music and did not over power our conversations. I had the empanadas which I could eat every day. They have a special empanada of the day. My husband and I also shared the meal for two. Since I had the empanadas it was enough but if you aren’t having starters then it may not be enough for two. I highly recommend Artango.

Visited Artango with my girlfriend and our friend while visiting his neighbourhood in Chicago. We were seated promptly, even without a reservation. The restaurant was warm and cozy and, in spite of being quite busy, you didn't feel as if you were sat on top of the people around you: there was enough room between tables so that you could maintain a private conversation, and you didn't need to shout because of the noise from other diners. Although we were sat by a window (another pet peeve of mine) it was clearly well insulated as I didn't feel the cold, nor did I really feel as if people were watching me eat. We had empanadas and octopus as appetisers. Both were excellent with a lot of flavor and good texture with the octopus. Steaks were excellent too: tender, cooked exactly as ordered, juicy, and well presented. The three sauces complemented them well, and the potato wedges and brussels sprouts were great. The restaurant was out of the wine we ordered initially and we declined the pinot noir offered as an alternative. I am not sure what we had in the end but we drank three bottles of it, so it was definitely good! The restaurant isn't cheap but it's not crazy expensive either. I couldn't afford to eat there every night but as a date night or special occasion it is perfect. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable although there was some confusion over splitting the bill 1/3 and 2/3 that took three attempts to get right - but didn't detract from the great food and wine and excellent venue. We'd definitely recommend Artango, and we'd definitely eat there again.

We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was only 50% full - it is a large and attractive place. We started with a trio of empanadas - one of each. For our entree, we split an Asado Argentino, an assortment of grilled meats that was served with fries. For dessert, we had an Oblivion (chocolate cake with ice-cream) and a Miloja (sheets of flaky pastry with lemon-flavored cream). We enjoyed the food - it was all tasty - although my wife thought the empanadas were a little burnt and the serving of fries was rather small. The service was prompt and friendly. The bathrooms are large and clean!

On a fridged Chicago Christmas night, it was one of the only places open, and they had a fixed priced meal for $55 each that was VERY good! The appetizers were wonderful-we split the ahi tuna ceviche and empanadas. We both had ribeyes and they were awesome? Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and with a nice char/crispy outside. The desserts were equally as good-we had a pear tart and a chocolate cake that were both superb. Service was very good as well.

We went to this delightful restaurant on a Wednesday night. Typically a Wednesday is not a busy night for restaurants in Chicago. True to form, the restaurant was not very crowded. Therefore it was quite easy to discuss things with my partner and enjoy the wonderful ambience. Since there was no live music or dancing on Wednesday, gave us an opportunity to really focus solely on the food. It did not disappoint. The grilled octopus was delicious, perfectly done, tender like it should be. The empanadas were among the best I’ve ever had. I particularly enjoyed the corn and cheese empanada. They were served with the delicious sauce and one nice and hot. The portobello mushroom was large and delicious. The quinoa rissoto was very buttery and scrumptious. We did not order any steaks. However, from the looks of the please customers at the table next to us they were very delicious. The staff could not of been more friendly. I am looking forward to revisiting this restaurant and having a large steak or perhaps the short ribs that looked scrumptious.

After seeing the chef from Artango on WGN, and all the empanadas that he made...I couldn’t get there fast enough!! This restaurant did not disappoint!! The empanadas were delicious, the steak flight, with its assorted sauces complimented each bite. I loved the short ribs especially! The drinks...fantastic!!!b Our server Javier a gem. Can’t wait to go back and eat more!!!!

Got there before opening time, so I came back after going to a great store across the street with imported goods. Few people on a drizzly night early, but I was attended well. Guess the fire pit was just heating up...both the empanadas and tirado de asado were lukewarm when they arrived, but they heated them up. Good wine selection. Not overly expensive. The asado on the bone was first rate. Didn't get to see the tango. Will have to go back!

The service, the delicious food at a reasonable price - all with soft background Argentinian music.....meaning soft enough so WE COULD EASILY talk.....made for a relaxing, delightful evening....

Our group of four stopped by for dinner on a recommendation from friends. Everything was very good. We started with empanadas and provoleta, and followed with short ribs, gnochi, and the shared steak flight. We added sides of mashed and fingerling potatoes and brussels sprouts. Of course, we had a couple desserts and I think a total of eight cocktails. Total bill was $425, including tax and tip. Overall, not too bad. It was a little loud, but they did have a flamenco dancer who was very good.

Love the room, the artwork, the atmosphere. We were only a party of 2 and I wasn't disappointed like the last reviewer, but I wasn't blown away either. The appetizers had good flavor and I love that they come as a variety so you get to try them all (a chicken empanada, a chorizo empanada, and a pork empanada, for example). The steak was not as tender as I would expect from a nice restaurant, although it was not bad. Super cool space worth a try, but my opinion is that I can eat better for this price in Chicago.

My party of 10 dined here on New Years Eve and i was very excited about our reservations. The reviews were great and prix fix menu looked great so we decided to try it out. Bad mistake! The restaurant was not that busy, but the staff seemed overwhelmed and very unprofessional. For instance, the appetizer platters were not picked up as they served the main dish. We had to pile them in the middle of the table until they were taken away. Everyones desert was messed up and two of our folks waited over 20 minutes for their desert after everyone else was served- not to mention that we had to flag down three waiters to get water and desert forks! What a JOKE! No way would i have tipped 18% or at all because the service was so bad but they adde that to our bill anyway. I guess if you are with a larger party don't expect great service as they get tip either way! Food was mediocre at best and the ceviche gave me a stomachache. No Bueno!

Went for NYE and there was a fixed price menu with 4 courses. The restaurant was severely understaffed and the whole thing was a complete mess. It took awhile to even get service, and then the timing for courses was completely off. Two of our courses were also accidentally served to the tables next to us. Everyone was having service issues. Food was mixed. The first “course” was a tiny shooter of soup. Basically a spoonful and it was off temperature and served in a plastic flute. Not exactly a good start. We had empanadas and crudo as second courses which were pretty good, and then steak and lamb as mains which were quite good. Dessert was terrible - the flan was nearly inedible and the chocolate cake was just OK. Ambiance was also subpar. Tables were packed VERY closely together - more than what I would even consider “tight” seating for a restaurant. We had to physically move our table so that it was touching the table on our other side just so people could get out. The “band” played for 20 mins and then left the stage. They were great while they were playing but I have no idea why they didn’t play more. Otherwise it was just loud. Overall very disappointing and expensive. Would not return.

This place has some absolutely remarkable steaks with specialty rubs and sauces....as well as pretty much everything else. Ask George (the bartender) and or Joel, the lead waitstaff and they will set you up with some carnivorous culinary delights that you will not soon (or perhaps ever) forget. Absolutely a 5 star place to eat if you like anything steak related...and I wasn't even there for the music and dancing that I understand to be extradinary!

When you think of Argentinian food one of the first things that comes to mind is beef. We were not disappointed! After some empeñadas as appetizers we dug into the main course: steak. All of our steaks were cooked to perfection. My son had the rib eye and was extremely happy with it. I had the New York cut and it was marvelous. Overall, this was one of the best steakhouses we've been to. And my wife and her mom ordered the steak flight.

Need to try the Ceviche, it's unbelievable. They bring you 3 different kinds of ceviche, you will love it and for sure you are going to ask for more. The steak is amazing and the deserts are just mouthwatering. One more thing it's BYOB and if you come on Wednesday nights you can learn how Tango too.

I’d been here before for dinner. I had the paella and it wasn’t good. However, the decor is beautiful and I remembered the drinks were very good. When I found out they had a happy hour, I decided to try it again. So, this review is based on my happy hour experience. The drinks are creative and delicious. The pineapple mojito, caipirinha and blueberry mojitos were creatively made and delicious. The bartenders are very friendly and attentive. You can’t drink without having a few nibbles. We ordered the empanadas: beef and olives and ham and cheese and one that looked like a pizza. My husband had the lomito steak sandwich. These were all good. If you want to try Artango Bar & Steakhouse, go during happy hour, have some creative drinks and apps and enjoy the decor and swanky vibe.

Love the cocktails and the food was delicious. We went here with a group and had a great dinner. I had the quinoa risotto and it was amazing. Our whole group shared an order of paella. Everything was great. Our server helped with drinks. There is sometimes live entertainment here. We missed that heading out for a show after. Loved this place!

Great place for some typical dishes. We enjoyed the mixed grill and everyone at the table raved about the mojitos. I also enjoyed the flan which was one of the best I have ever had - not too sweet and not too eggy - just right. On my highly recommended list!

I know it’s tough to compete in Chicago to have a top steakhouse. Artango tries, but just doesn’t do it for me. If you’re gonna spend $150 on a steak-night out with your spouse, you better get top-notch food, service and ambience. Lobster bisque was average, but a very small portion. Steaks were ok, but I can do better at home (harsh but true). Desserts (cheese cake and chocolate cake) were unremarkable. It’s a shame - there are bakeries in Lincoln Square that run circles around Artango. Maybe step out for dessert? Service was very kind, but slow and innstentive. Ambience is loud, more night-clubby than I prefer for a steakhouse. Decor is very nice, however. Just can’t really recommend this place. Good effort, just isn’t up to the challenge.

Recently moved to Chicago and we usually spend so much time and money finding good food. But What a mistake with this “Argentinian Steakhouse” since we arrived the hostess (Maria) was on her cellphone and it was not welcoming at all. The waitress was the star of our awful experience. She was performing like a fast food restaurant and not a fine dining like this place claims to be. The main entrees arrive before the appetizers and we we asked for it the waitress trow attitude on us with “IM NOT AT THE KITCHEN”, so it was not even a simple apology. She decided to cancel the cocktails from us, and took then back when they were already at the middle (so rude). They never brought you sharp meat knifes until you ask for them. The hostess Maria happened to be the manager too, at least she pretended to be, and when she came to talk to us she basically said “NEVER MIND YOU DINT HAVE TO PAY” no intentions to offer an apology. We didn’t almost had the chance to taste anything. The house music was extremely LOUD, you got the feeling to be in a club, so hard to chat at the table. The few bites that we were able to taste was NOT MATCHING the price. It’s an over rated and over priced.

An awesome local place for great steaks and Argentine cuisine. I had their skirt steak and it was seasoned perfectly, no need to use the sauces that came with it or salt. The flavor was amazing and temperature was perfect. The plantains were spot on and the empanadas and chive were delicious. If you can try to schedule your dinner when the live music starts. A great place to bring guests from out of town.

Came here during restaurant week with 12 friends which we do every year for restaurant week. The food was excellent! The steak and desserts were excellent!!! The EMPANADAS Chef's choice was delicious! Also we had the CEVICHE Ahi tuna, seaweed, huacatay sauce which was good. The STAR ⭐️ of the meal was the OJO DE BIFE a Round Ribeye steak served with homemade chimichurri and mashed potatoes. WOW!! It was amazing! No fat on that baby!! The BIFE DE CHORIZO a NY Strip Steak served with homemade chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes was a killer too! Excellent steaks!! The desserts were amazing! We had the OBLIVION Chocolate cake and mousse, dulce de leche ice cream and the FLAN Cinnamon and cardamom-infused custard, dulce de leche, meringue. Both knocked it out of the park!! The cocktail “VOLVÉR” which was Xicaru Joven Mezcal, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, Giffard Grapefruit, Fresh Lime, Simple Syrup, Club Soda was tasty as well. Tasted like a smoky margarita. The only thing I could say for room for improvement is our waiter seemed really overwhelmed and like he did not want to be at work at all that day..I understand that though because I have felt that way before. We were not able to split the check 6 ways ahead of time.

Definitely worth a visit. Wait staff friendly, service excellent. Food wonderful, not sure were to begin. Steak and ribs perfect and full of flavor. Desserts amazing. And a full body cup of coffee to finish the meal.

I had a dinner with friends and we attended European Cabaret night, food was excellent, meat was cooked to order and ever as I ordered well done it was soft and juicy. Service was very good and desert delicious. Entertainment was great, we really enjoyed singing and music.

I chose this as something different and was pleasantly surprised. The steak I had was cooked perfectly and the fresh cut fries were amazing. The server was very nice and they offered brief tango dancing lessons to all the guests. It isn't a cheap restaurant, but much more affordable than eating deep downtown for lesser food. I can't wait to go back again!

Stopped in after a show and loved this spot. Arrived around 10 pm and the Flamenco show was just finishing. The place was filled, but we were quickly seated. Ordered Martinis which were reasonably priced and a very nice pour. Decided on a number of small plates which were amazing. We had Grilled Octopus, Empanadas (3 types), Caviar DeBerensena, (Grilled eggplant, French Lentils with caviar), Ceviche Isla (shrimp) & Plantain Chips. The food was delicious. The service was efficient and smooth and the venue was great. We highly recommend you go here. It is GREAT!

I loved the atmosphere!!!! I had a couple cocktails and they were nice. The staff was extremely attentive. Great experience overall!

Argentina in the USA. You don't have to go to Argentina to taste a superior Argentine cut of meat.

The Artango Bar & Steakhouse used to be in the Ravenswood area, but relocated for a bigger place to the Lincoln Square area. It is now on Lincoln Ave., just south of Lawrence Ave. Since it is a neighborhood street mall, the street is one way (southbound) and there is diagonal parking on one side. There are many different restaurants in this area, so Artango Bar & Steakhouse needs to be good and it does live up to it. There is also outdoor seating, just not in December. It is a fairly large restaurant and the centerpiece is the bar and the dance floor. On specific nights, they offer tango classes and on weekend nights, they have tango shows. We were seated for dinner and our waiter, Joel B., was very efficient, personable and helpful with the menu selections. We did miss bread on the table, but I guess you can't have everything. The menu is not huge, and the prices, though not unreasonable, are a bit higher. We ordered the Asado Argentino which is a dinner designed for two. It included four different types of meats and very good thick French fries, along with chimichurri and malbec salsa.. The meats were flank steak, chorizo sausage, short ribs and morcilla (a Spanish blood sausage). We asked the steak to be medium rare and that was how it came on a wooden platter with the three other meats. The short ribs melted in your mouth. The chorizo was very good, as was the morcilla, though that was spiced with a delayed type of spice. You know, the one that creeps up on you, after you have swallowed the bite you were chewing. We did have room for dessert, so we chose a limonchelo gelato which definitely had a pucker factor - quite tart. We also chose the oblivion which is a chocolate mousse cake with dolce de leche ice cream, creme Anglaise and coco nibs. Everything tasted really good. The service was excellent, especially because the staff worked as a team and stopped quickly several times, if they were in the immediate area. Come for the dinner, stay and watch or learn the Argentine Tango.

My husband and I celebrated our birthday despite Covid... The place is nice a cozy with table separated they had excellent food. For 4 people we order for Appetizer- 5 pcs Empanadas which is bursting with flavor. Grill Mollejas is so creamy and deligthful, Trios de Ceviche is must try.. the combination of flavor of shrimp, tuna and white fish cannot be miss. Pizza a la Parilla - veggie combination with chess and grill to perfection. For the main course we order the Steak Fligth - of my ...the Steak melt in your mouth and so flavorful. Paella del Sur - amazing flavor of all the flavor of the sea. For desert we order Oblivion and La companila - amazing combination of melted chocolate and dulce de leche. Service is fast and efficient. I will definitely wants to go back again.

The food here is ok. It's not really something I'd recommend, the ceveche is flavorful, but the meats aren't great cuts and are not prepared very well. The wine list is decent and the entertainment is very fun! Go for small plates, wine, and a show!

The only con is the steeper price range. I personally like the smaller portions, especially for brunch. So you're not too full to do anything else in the day. Food and Service were all Great! Great Menu Selection and Really Tasty and potent Cocktails! The Vibe is very charming and i think they have done a great job of establishing their own aesthetic through Design Choices and the way they've laid out the entire place. Definitely Worth a Visit! Plus, it's in the actual square of Lincoln Square! Hope this Helps. Cheers!

My wife and I ate dinner here on August 15, 2018. Our server, Joel, was great. Our empanadas, bife de lomo, and plantains were delicious.

Wonderful spot for music and drinks! The guitar player was fabulous....well known tunes with a 12 string Latin flavor. Try the Brazilian cocktails...loved the Mojito! The spicy bbq shrimp was excellent as well. Next time we’ll come back for dinner. The steaks looked awesome!

Artango is so good I almost hate to share it The food was fantastic. The atmosphere was inviting and the entertainment enjoyable. This place is a carryover from a time when dining was more than just a place for food but rather a place to spend an enjoyable evening The gazpacho was sooo refreshing and tasty. I couldn’t make up my mind, so the Cerviche sampler hit the spot. The steaks are very very very well prepared. Especially the Ojo Di Bife The margaritas especially the Mango hit the spot and the bartenders know what they’re doing And you’ll be sorry if you don’t try the deserts The band played SpAnish flamingo songs and a dancer periodically added some extra pizazz This is a five star experience!!

My friend a native Chicagoan took me here for a relaxing night of drinks. Great atmosphere and awesome bartenders.

We went there on a Friday night on a whim not knowing what to expect. It was a very pleasant surprise. BYOB and the food is excellent. The service was great. Tango dancing started at 10PM to the sound of old "classical" tangos. A great display of the sensuality of tango. We were transported into a tango salon in Buenos Aires. We tried to tango but now we must take the lessons (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. A delightful experience!

I've had dinner at a Brazilian steakhouse in Chicago but never an Argentinian steakhouse--until now. There is something about grass-fed steaks imported from Brazil and Argentina that separate them from American stock. But at the Artango Bar & Steakhouse...well, the steak is superb but the dessert is even better. See for yourself. Located at 4767 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago's Lincoln Square/Ravenswood neighborhood, Artango allows diners to experience Buenos Aries' Golden Age where the rich cultural heritage of Argentina comes alive in a swanky 1920s-inspired setting. Be sure to sample the authentic, imported, grass-fed Argentinian steaks. And be sure to save enough room for one of the house's delicious desserts. Open from 5 to 9:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 5 to 11:30 on Friday, 4 to 11:30 on Saturday and 4 to 9 on Sunday, Artango gets customers in a thoroughly festive mood with live South American music. And you might be tempted to order one of South America's traditional dishes, paella, with scallops, shrimp, fish, calamari and saffron rice. But this is a steakhouse, right? I started with Langostinos, grilled prawns marinated in aji-adobo, aioli and arugula-radish garnish. For my entree, I chose Bife de Lomo, a 12-ounce filet mignon of the highest quality grass-fed Black Angus, hand-cut and grilled gaucho-style on Artango's Argentinian parilla, then served with house-made chimichurri with mashed potato and broccoli. Ready for dessert? After considerable debate, I opted for vanilla flan infused with cardamon and cinnamon, dulce de leche gelato, almond and crispy meringue. It tasted as good as it sounds.

Came here for Mother's Day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the different food. We all shared bites of what we ordered. By far, the caramelized onion and cheese empanada was my favorite thing on the menu. Would go back for just those. The cocktails were not very delicious. Perhaps the cocktail menu is to large, but it was hard to choose. But every cocktail was extremely sweet and poorly made. Stick to wine or beer.

We came to Artango for our wedding anniversary with a few friend and got our table by the window which is always a nice touch. It feels very lively and European. The tango dancers start around 8:30 pm and I wish they would dance around the place a bit more as we happened be pretty far from the action. Food was just perfect from appetizers to main courses. Same apply to the wine list. Plan on spending some money there, even if you share food BUT IT ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!!!

I had eaten at this place before, it is a very nice restaurant in Lincoln Square, with an ample menu. We were a party of 5 on a Saturday evening, we were sitting right away. The waitress was very nice, her suggestion of wine for me was excellent. We had the short ribs, “lomito” sandwich, paella for 1-2, soup and lobster ravioles. All the dishes were very well prepared and delicious, specially the lobster ravioles. The service was excellent and the price reasonable.

Four of us went for dinner. First time for everyone. We started with the ceviche combo (all 3) and also all 3 of the empanadas. They were all good as we shared. For the main course we ordered the 3 steak platter and the small seafood paella. The paella was amazing...crunchy bottom in the rice but rich in flavor. Steaks were great as well. Three sauces to spoon on the top. For dessert we again ordered 4 items to share. The flan and the 10k layer cake were my favs but we also had the churos and a chocolate dessert with ice cream. I would hope to dine here again soon! An artist was painting a mural on the entrance wall while we dined. Wonderful live music.

Three of us, armed with two bottles of wine and a partial bottle of pisco brandy, had a tremendous meal. While the menu is very reasonable, the tastes are vast. We were able to enjoy our first visit and use a Groupon but the prices are also reasonable and we'll definitely be back. Our group of three was nicely tucked into a quiet corner as two larger group - one 18 and one 20 - came in a bit later and the volume totally rose - but we were still okay. There's also a divine outdoor area, weather permitting. Andale!

This restaurant is in a former industrial space with lots of parking out front. As soon as you walk in, you see interesting art work which continues throughout the large, open eating area. We came for brunch and enjoyed the Latin American twist on traditional dishes.
Excellent South American Food
We went here for Mother's Day and ordered from the fixed price menu. Everyone in our group really liked the food. The steak and paella dishes were especially good. The moment you walk in, you, the art and decor create the feeling of traveling to South America. This is an excellent place for casual dining among friends and with family. And parking across from the restaurant was free.
