2 Thumbs up for Artusi

By Lynn G |

We found it by accident waiting for a table at their sister restaurant next door. We couldn’t have been happier with the flavors, quality and service.

Seattle's Best Happy Hour

By Raventwisp |

Here's what they don't advertise: Artusi has both an early bird and night owl happy hour, and the menu items change nightly. As a local, I visit this spot frequently and always take advantage of the pasta & salumi della sera - out of the many hot restaurants in Capitol Hill, this is my top spot for enjoying a nice drink over truly excellent dishes. The knowledgeable staff always lead us in the right direction, and the location can't be beat.

Super Bowl Lull

By JL |

Sunday night's pleasure was the two pastas and bottle of house wine deal. The risotto, then lambsagna became a treat, especially when a bottle of wine was shared at the bar. This evening crowds were almost non-existent to enjoy a nice quiet evening not cooking, much less hearing children or loud adults. The tiramisù in a mason jar was a night cap. Although the menu was osteria-limited with ristorante-style prices, the quiet night was worth the risk.

New Seattle Favorite

Great dinner!

By Mike H |

I came here for dinner with a party of 5. We tried to get into Spinasse but there was a 30 minute wait. The hostess steered us over here and we were seated immediately. The gnocchi and the meatballs were excellent!!

overpriced entrees, stick to well-made drinks at the bar

By saucyb |

Visit for the cocktails at this stylish small spot, and maybe grab a small appetizer. The trout frisee salad was perfectly dressed and plated, but the entrees were outrageously priced considering the measly portions. The tonarelli was the best of our dishes, but the risotto was both unattractively presented and a bit gummy. The brisket had an austere presentation, with a few croutons and cherries on side. Meals were very slow to arrive, so order as soon as you can get your server's attention.

Succulent summertime small plates & wine

By Ryan M |

We enjoyed Artusi this evening for the cauliflower vinaigrette salad with canoed hazelnuts, golden raisins and pine nuts, along with ravioli and morel mushrooms, and lastly duck capunet with shaved cheese. It was exceptional as we sat outside on their breezy patio. Perfect service and entrees.

Fresh pasta

By Mark L |

Simple yet delightful feather-light pasta. Produced within view. Made into very basic pasta delights. Utilizing simple butter sauces, bits of carrot, lamb ragu, bits of pork, ,, A real treat on a Monday evening with a few good friends.

The almost perfect sister to Spinasse.

By Hannahsis |

Slightly less expensive sister to Spinasse. Compared to other restaurants I would rate it excellent, but I love its sister (maybe brother) restaurant even better. The wait staff is excellent, wonderful food.

Rough Day, Light Misto

By JL |

The misto appetizer has been a staple, especially when an entree cannot be decided on a light stomach. Normally, olives are not my preference, but they were quite nice with the focaccia and EVOO-infused butter. Wait time was minimal since it was a Tuesday night and not as bustling.

Amazing Pasta, must visit on Pasta night!

By Tim Cavanagh |

Having recently moved to Seattle, we’ve been taking every opportunity to try new restaurants in the Seattle area. Artusi is located at the corner of 14th St and Pine in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It’s a small Italian restaurant that offers limited, but extremely delicious options, with an amazing Pasta night menu. Two pastas and a bottle of wine for $35! It’s a really great deal and Artusi’s pasta dishes are so good, top it off with a bottle of wine, it’s a win all around! Pasta night is only offered on Sunday and Monday starting at 5pm. Make sure to arrive early as they fill up quick on Pasta night (we arrived one Sunday at 5:15 and the restaurant was already full). I forgot to take a picture of the menu, but you can find it on the Artusi website (menu here). There are three pasta options, plus a rotating special pasta (pasta options include: cavatelli, potato gnocchi, and risotto, the night I went, the special was meatball ravioli). As mentioned above we came for Pasta night on a Sunday (arriving at 5:15 and the restaurant was already full). We opted to sit at the Chef’s table to skip having to wait 90 mins for a table. The Chef’s table offered a great view of the meal preparation and service. Pictured above is one of the Chef’s cranking out various pasta dishes for that nights guests. While, I’ve been raving about Artusi’s pasta night, the rest of their menu is just as delicious. Pictured above is the Chop salad served at Artusi the flavor is so simple, but yet so delicious. Throughout the salad you get bites of salami and provolone which keeps you wanting more. This is a great starter before digging into the pastas dishes. The arancini balls are also of note, very flavorful and served with a huckleberry sauce which complements the arancini so well! You really can’t go wrong with any of the starters at Artusi. Lastly and most important, the pasta at Artusi is sooo good, you can’t go wrong with any of the choices. The cavatelli is one of my favorites, but they’re all so flavorful I enjoy them all equally! If you have a large enough group, I’d encourage you try and share all the pastas, you won’t regret it! The only downside I’ll mention about Pasta night… The portions are very small. If you plan to make this your meal, I’d encourage to get some other starters to supplement or the pasta makes for a light meal. Artusi makes all of their pasta in house, they have a sister restaurant Spinasse, which makes all the pasta (see picture above of pasta drying). Spinasse offers a more extensive menu and is just as delicious, be sure to check out our review of Spinasse too!

NO FOOD TOGO SO NO FOOD

By F. D Garcia |

As someone who works as a concierge at a hotel and a part time server in the neighborhood I came in to get some food togo and I felt scolded by the Server. As I have in the past ordered my pasta and left. I sent an email and never received a reply still perplexed. I have had great food here in the past wanted more but based on the lack of response or seeming to not care I may not come back. Here is the email I sent September 25th. I stopped by yesterday to order some food to go. I work as a concierge at a hotel during the day and a server at a restaurant on the hill at night. I was in between jobs and wanted to grab some pasta to go. I was told that you would not be able to do this. I was confused to as to why? I was not asking for happy hour to go. I simply wanted to order pasta to go so I could eat something different that the food my restaurant offers. It was also the tone in which she told me this. I felt scolded for ordering pasta to go in the past. I was told that she spoke to the manager about this after my last purchase and you wont do to go orders. I left feeling as though I had done something wrong when all I wanted was some food. Also noted I was the only person in the Restaurant as it was 5:05 pm. Just would like some clarification.

Great cocktails

By jschott6 |

I've never dined here but I have had many drinks here and they have ALL been crafted to perfection. I love the bar shape and the feel. The bartenders are extremely knowledgable. Definitely a great place to go to catch up over some drinks or wind down after work and still be classy.

A very memorable meal -- highly recommend!

By SPEAK2ME_CT |

It may look like a bar from the street, but there is a very impressive menu fit for any foodie! Note that Artusi shares the chef and the same main kitchen with Spinasse next door, but they also have their own kitchen right in the dining room for non-pasta dishes. We both really enjoyed the Calamari Salad with fennel as an appetizer, and I ordered a lamb confit special for my main course which was quite memorable (one of the top 5 dishes for me all year...simply delicious and I want to go back for more!). Truly impressive food, excellent service, and a very nice place....highly recommend!

Delicious and Creative!

By misopiso88 |

Food is creative and delicious and there is something on the menu for everyone! Would highly recommend for a fresh and fun option.

Fresh and delicious!

By Amie L |

As Spinasse is a personal favorite we knew trying Artusi was a must. We celebrated our anniversary early by sitting at the bar overlooking the chef's station; literally just what you need to prepare fresh, flavorful dishes. The cocktails, small plates and entrees we enjoyed were all unique and seasonal. We look forward to returning this fall to see what fresh ingredients are on their menu, not to be missed!

Amazing little restaurant! I highly recommend for date night or with friends!

By Ryan H |

We went on a Sunday night and they offer 2 pastas and a bottle of wine for $47! Well worth it! Was a great little restaurant to enjoy a nice dinner with friends. I would highly recommend this place. We enjoyed appetizers along with our meals. I will be back for sure! Esp on a Sunday or Monday for the special!

Amazing Pasta

By Wilson L |

We had an absolutely amazing time at Artusi. The food was unreal and the vibe in here is great. I highly recommend checking this place out, we went for the Sunday/Monday special, two pastas and a bottle of wine for $45, it is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to come back again.

Sunday and Monday night specials rock

By BackpackerNoMore62 |

Artusi offers special pasta dinners for two on Sunday and Monday nights: pasta of your choice plus a bottle of wine for $40. The regular price for the pasta is almost $20 a plate, so it's like getting the wine for free. And the wine is quite good. Arrive at 5 PM when the restaurant opens or be prepared to either wait of eat at the bar.

Great bar

By John H |

Stopped in for a drink on date night and loved the atmosphere, the attention to design, and particularly the great bartender Tahlia, who knew her stuff and educated us on Italian digestifs! Will be back.

Egg Pasta!

By Seeseej |

Start with the appetizer prosciutto and uovo con fonduta for a surprise. Then follow up with their egg pasta with butter and sage which is simple yet delicious. Definitely a must try and paired with roasted rabbit meatballs. Dessert? The cheesecake.

WONDERFUL VALENTINE'S DINNER

By Michael V |

We chose Artusi for our Valentine's dinner and were delighted. The prix fixe menu had sounded wonderful, and Artusi delivered the goods. We were seated at a nice corner table and chose to have the wine pairings with our meal. All of the dishes: Braised octopus bruschetta with spicy tomato conserva; Little gem salad with roasted shallot vinaigrette, prosciutto and parmigiana; Roasted lamb shoulder casoncelli (stuffed pasta) with resting jus; Duck leg confit with duck sausage braised beans; and, Dark chocolate cake with dolce di latte frosting and sesame gelato were spot on wonderful. The Casoncelli was particularly noteworthy, rich lamb in light delicate pasta in a wonderful lamb, sage and butter pan jus. Two of the wine pairings were noteworthy, a pinot bianco with the octopus and a Sicilia bianco with the salad, the others were serviceable but not outstanding. Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We finished the evening with two excellent grappas from from sister restaurant, Spinasse. The chardonnay besting the moscato with its complex flavors and clean finish. A wonderful Valentines. Thanks, Artusi!

Intimate dinner, great cocktails, tight space

By Heidi1999 |

Located on Capitol Hill and associated with Spinasse next door, ARTUSI is a great small restaurant with a limited fresh menu and fabulous cocktails. The space has been designed to soak up noise so you can actually talk to your dinner date. The asparagus & parmesean appetizer was wonderful and the cauliflower ravioli was fresh but a little on the lemony side. All wines are Italian so you may want help from your waiter (I tried to order a chardonnay but the Italian version was too different for me so went back to the Italian sauvignon blanc). The slushie cocktail was popular with our friends so try it. As the designated driver for our group I was disappointed I could not get a Diet Coke, hot chocolate or cup of tea at the end of my dinner as it simply wasn't available. Otherwise, it was a really nice restaurant experience, although seating is tight so be warned and don't wear a square-dancing skirt.

Cute little gem in Capitol Hill

By Leslie W |

This is a great little place next to its much larger sister restaurant; we particularly enjoyed this because it wasn't large, crowded, or noisy. The menu is fairly small, but well chosen--we had the most marvelous meatballs and flank steak with polenta and greens, accompanied by great cocktails and a couple of very nice Italian red wines. We were seated at the bar looking onto the open kitchen, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the chef prepare the dishes, including ours. It's a cozy place, and certainly a great spot on a cold and snowy Saturday night--although I suspect it would be no less great on a warm and sunny July evening! Definitely try it!

great cocktails & delicious bites

By tcck55210 |

love, love, lava this place! i looooove stopping by here for drinks before some fantastical pasta next door at spinasse. the bartenders are friendly, non-invasive, and make some taaaaaaaaaaaasty cocktails.so good, that one of our faves is from here and we make it all the time at home (when we can't make it up to the hill). :) and now they are offering some great light bites as well. the ambiance is clean, simple, and wonderfully intimate. you can also order some spinasse for take out here, should you need a midnight snack afterwards.

If only my neighborhood had an "Artusi"...

By foodcriticwannabe |

I probably go to Artusi on average every two to three months and I have yet to be disappointed. Whether it is for a cocktail before dinner at Cascina Spinasse or for drinks and dinner at the bar with my husband or for a full experience at one of their nice corner tables with a small group, the service, food and atmosphere is always spot on. There are usually one or two specials in addition to the items on the smallish menu, a nice selection of wines by the glass and some great bottles of northern Italian wines to choose from and always interesting cocktails. When you are not looking for the full on, blow-out dining experience of Spinasse it is a great option. Like I said - I wish it was in my 'hood. I'd be there more often.

Energetic atmostphere

By seatravelerSeattle |

I had dinner on a rainy (yes, it's Seattle) evening at Artusi with a friend. They have a nice small plates menu, and a decent list of wine by the glass. It was crowded, but was still able to find a seat on Friday night at 7:30!! Lots of people at the bar and at tables. Very friendly servers. I had a delicious endive salad with ginger and strips of Parmesan, as well as a pasta with Chanterelles. Both were excellent. My friend had a very nice butternut squash salad. All in all, very tasty. I'd go back for sure.

Good food with an interesting menu

By adalbert3 |

It is a cozy space that incorporates northwestern ingredients into their Italian cuisine focus. The Antipasto Misto was a great way to start our dinner. My wife enjoyed her pan-seared trout, but I was quite pleased that I went with the hand-cut egg pasta with butter & sage--when a pasta dish like this is done correctly (as it was) it stands out from other pasta dishes you will get at most restaurants. Our server was pleasant, and she was very helpful with the various menu choices.

Good for Before Dinner Drinks

By irawine |

My wife and I stopped in at Artusi for before dinner drinks. She had a drink that featured one of their many bitters and I was more conventional and had a Prosecco. We also ordered a bowl of their flavored hazelnuts, which were very good. The bartender was very nice and helpful and it was a very relaxed setting. I would definitely go back again and recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to have drinks before dinner.

Spinasse's little sibling packs a punch

By Helmut |

Artusi is the conjoined twin of Spinasse. In fact, there is even a door connecting both restaurants. However, vibe and menu are different and while I love the tajarin at spinasse, Artusi has the more subtle flavors. Bread was awesome and copious. This was good, because the pasta dish was a little small for my taste. The arugula salad was absolutely delicious and so were the mezzaluna. Delicate, flavorful, just perfect. My only complaint is that I could have had a double portion. Tiramisu was good, but I like it less sweet and with more booze (personal preference). Service was friendly, but at times felt rushes. Overall worth a visit. Think of it this way: either roll the dice to decide if you take the left (Spinasse) over the right (Artusi) door, or book the counterpart when no spots are available in the other.

Hands Down My Favorite Restaurant in Seattle

By 206GlobeGirl |

Spinassi maybe hard yo get into, but Artusi, their sister restaurant that is connected, is much easier and in my opinion, even better. I am wowed every time I visit and so is everyone I am with. I have been here on dates, with friends and also with my mom. I always sit at the bar in front of the action watching the chefs work the magic like a synchronized dance. The food is insanely good. The pasta made in house. You can't go wrong with anything you order. Enjoy!
