Great Food, Comical Experience - You decide

By Jetjouster |

Having traveled a great deal, hotel restaurants are always a little love/hate. Some are great, some not so much. Especially when one tries to do too much. Asador is a breath of fresh air. They definitely have a Chef’s touch and flair. The restaurant is clean open and very well appointed. Service ranges from great to a little sophomoric, depending on when you go. Here’s the skinny on the experiences I had, and you decide. Either way, we will be returning to the hotel and to Asador’s, if nothing else, for their “Char Bar” meats and cheeses. Breakfasts… strictly from the menu, all were sensational, all were very well prepared and service was absolutely on the spot. Only caveat was one afternoon at the bar, I walked in, sat down and they passed right by me twice and then congregated at the opposite end of the bar and chatted. I finally got a bartender’s attention and got a cocktail. A couple minutes later I asked if they had any “bar trash”, snacks, anything like that. Well so many hotel bars have stopped serving anything any remotely like that, in lieu of serving their appetizers. No problem, but you should have one app (at an app price) that you could order. There were like 4 apps, the closest was guac and corn chips. I asked the bartender if they had trash, snacks or chips and he said no, but across the lobby I could purchase them in the gift shop. So I did and when I sat down and opened one of them, the manager came over and told me in no uncertain terms I could not eat that in their restaurant! I looked her and the bartender and said, “he just told me I could go buy them” and he cut me off with a “I didn’t say you could eat them in here!”. I set them down on the bar, slide them over and told them to throw them away then. The bartender left and the manager came by and I said I was sorry, but I wouldn’t have bothered and that was pretty bad form. To the managers credit, she apologized and came out with a bowl of corn chips and guac. 5-10 minutes later a person sitting next me at the bar had been out of a drink for some time, again, the bartender was at the other end of the bar chatting with other employees. When a new bartender showed, I waived him down and we got a drink order in, and I mentioned he might want to hang out at the middle of the bar, because the other guy can’t seem to serve this end. Well new guy must have told the other tender. He comes down and questions me about it, with and why are you mad at me? Well, decide for yourself. We just got the check and left to go dinner elsewhere that night. Honestly it was simply astonishing. Dinner the next day was exceptional, with a great skirt steak and wine, all were superbly served by a very professional waiter. We did a 3 meat sampler that was one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. So Asador was a mixed experience, but the bad was more almost funny than it was maddening. But that bartender probably needs to probably be tending at Courtyard or Hampton, or learn something about service. All in all, we’ll be back. Hopefully they will put a “House Made Chips and Dip” on their app menu for people sitting at the bar.

Great service!

By Beth C |

Always great service by Carlos, who has waited on us for years! He provides excellent suggestions when we have questions on menu items, and remembers our favorites. Restaurant is located in the Marriott Renaissance hotel, so customers are there in both casual and dressy attire, and both mid-range & fine dining are available. Fabulous during Restaurant Week.

Service ruined the meal

By CruiseJess |

We thought we would try Asador because we were staying at the hotel. It smelled amazing and we were looking forward to a fun dining experience. Sadly the attitude of the staff really crushed the mood. Service was slow, server and bartender could not be bothered. It seemed our presence was quite an annoyance. Not what we were looking for. Would go out of my way to warn people not to dine there.

Delicious eats!

By Kristi R |

We have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every meal has always been very good. The grilled cheese is fantastic!

Food was good, but kitchen was slow

By Rjmathers_13 |

I had a Cobb salad with salmon and my daughter had a salmon sandwich, both were awesome. The grilled salmon was better than what I do at home on the grill, which I think is pretty good and better than most restaurants. My wife enjoyed her salad with apples in it but the chicken breast was a little dry. The waiter was prompt but we were in a hurry and the food took a very long time to be delivered.

A free-fall from our previous visit

By FSK-2 |

I hate to think of the dining opportunities we passed up. We had an excellent dinner with excellent service our first time, maybe six months ago. A review of tonight resembles a concertina of disappointments. Though tiny, the mussels were good. The Cobb salad was way overdressed. The pork sliders were what I would expect on a high school cafeteria food line. Our side of French fries was limp. Though there were few patrons, service was wholly inattentive, a failure of management. Nobody in the place was seen giving a flip. Dr. Scott says: Steer clear till things improve ... a lot.

Good enough

By Aaron A |

Good food, but pricey...and the selection is very eclectic, but they'll usually work to make you want you want even though it's not on the menu.

Good Breakfast

By Jay Y |

ON my recent business trip, I popped over to the Asador for breakfast. It was very enjoyable, all of the wait staff and the host were very friendly. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard, although having charcuterie like smoked duck breast for breakfast was a novelty.

Great food and service.

By Charles S |

Fresh fruit and personally prepared omelets for breakfast. We had several meals at the restaurant and every one delicious.

Pleasantly suprised by a Hotel Restaurant

By BB_GW-Doc |

I've made a rule to not eat at Hotel restaurants that I tend not to break based on so many past dismal experiences. This place is the exception. The BBQ Gulf Shrimp were amazing! Simple yet full of flavor mixing bbq beurre blanc with mesquite grilled baguette. Breakfast/ weekend brunch was a fantastic display of variety and flavors and a great value. If i lived in Dallas, I would eat here regularly.

Good food

By John Z |

Asador was really good! I was there for a workshop being held in the hotel and I did not want to leave the premises for lunch on that first day. Asador had really great fish tacos for a fairly reasonable price. The fries that came with it were good, although not such a huge portion (and they did not naturally offer ketchup). All in all good food and I avoided the whole mad dash to get off-premises and back on before the lunch break was over

Great meal

By w81minute |

We dined here twice during a three day work event. The tortilla chips and salsa were really great, our dinners were well prepared, fresh, and cooked/presented well. The prices were high but the food was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves.

Excellent hotel restaurant

By 66Briane2 |

The food was very good. We had fixed menu because it was a group dinner, but the beef and dessert was great. My ceasar salad was not good.

Good food, but the service is lacking

By Jesi J |

We eat here at least once each time we stay here. First of all, I love the concept and I think they do it well. The food is delicious. One of the better burgers I've ever had and last time I tried the pork sliders. So why the 3 stars? Because there is no such thing as a quick meal here. The service, while friendly and attentive, is slow. We ate at the community table last time we were there which is closest to the kitchen. The entire counter was piled up with plates that needed to go out. We also had to wait a while for our check and once it came, had to wait a long while to get our cards back. I used a card and asked for change for a $20 (because I prefer tipping in cash). I was peeved when the waiter returned my change as two $10s saying "That's the best I can do."

Howdy, Texas Beef!

By H W |

Howdy, Texas beef! I had not eaten red meat in three months. But my server John convinced me to have the beef tenderloin. What a great choice it was. The beef was succulent, beefy, robust in flavor and like butter. John told me all about how the restaurant favors local ranchers and farmers. The food was so fresh and enjoyable. I started with a Texas peach salad served with pecans over greens. John also picked out a tremendous Malbec to pair with the tenderloin, a wine I never would have chosen (I've rarely met a Malbec I like). The restaurant is off the lobby of the huge and beautiful Renaissance Hotel right on I-35E. It's a high ceilinged room with a great vive. Definitely would go there again.

Great Food Inside In The Renaissance Hotel - Dallas!

By Suzanne L |

My husband and I stayed at the Renaissance hotel this past weekend for a dental conference he was attending and we really had a nice time. We enjoyed many meals and drinks at Asador - breakfasts, lunches & dinners and every time the wait staff and all employees we met were friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was very good and drink selections were outstanding. I highly recommend it!

Good news- its open late. Bad news- nobody wants to wait on you

By Pepper |

I came down late to eat- so I totally get that no one was expecting a flood of people. But they were open- and there was a waiter or two- and no one stopped by. I finally stopped the gentleman in the suit and I think he might have been the manager- and he did take my order. It was a truncated menu after 930 pm- but I had two things- brussle sprouts that were terrific- and a tortilla soup that might have tasted good but was barely warm. I couldn't get anyone's eye again to re-heat it- so I drank some of it- but it would have been much better hot. The next morning I had breakfast there- much better service- a big buffet but I didn't have it- just a thing called a vegetable tower with an egg- and it turned out to be delicious. Very innovative and yummy.

Not worth the money. Rude staff.

By Amber M |

Decent food but not for the price. My husband and I sat at the bar for a few drinks and snacks before we went to the ballet, we were met with hesitation from the bartender. The menu was varied and we did try a couple of things but were charged for "extras" that should have come with the meal, for example a side of salsa was $3 with our $9 chips and guacamole. For $12 I could have a whole meal at one of the many local Mexican food places. Drinks were good and strong.

Servers not friendly

By eyetravel22 |

Sunday morning breakfast was average. Ordered standard menu rather than $22 buffet. Scrambled eggs and bacon on par with Denny's but twice the price. Friend was sleeping late so had to eat at the hotel. Wait staff was not friendly and didn't check on table often. Had to flag someone down to get extra jelly. Also had to ask for the bill.

Great Food

Good Options for Lunch and Dinner. I tried Veg Pasta for dinner buy my fav is Texas Heirloom Tomato Sandwich.

Always order what the server recommends - they are always right

By Jenkat |

I stay with the Renaissance frequently for business travel. The service I received on my most recent trips was above and beyond. Efrain has been my server on numerous visits. It is extremely impressive that he remembers my drink order. When I inquired about something different that was not on the menu, he said they would figure it out. As a result, I had the best spicy margarita I have had in a long time. While trying to determine my order, I asked his thoughts on the salmon - he strongly recommended it. Again, one of the best meals I had during my visit. Throughout our meal the manager Michael McCoy stopped by our table frequently to make sure everything was good. On Sunday morning I asked a different server what his recommendation was. He suggested the avocado toast - it was amazing. The staff in the Asador knows their food - listen to their recommendations.

Great food and service

By jasman79 |

This is a fun and very good resto located in the lobby of the Renaissance hotel. Staff was very friendly. The bar got pretty lively and the food was excellent! Definitely plan to return.

Great hotel restaurant!

By TravelManOrlando |

I would come here even if I wasn't staying here. Great atmosphere, great drinks, great food. Wasn't thrilled with the chocolate cake dessert. It was just ok.

Good food, a little pricey, snippy waitstaff

By 635jeanmd |

I met several of my friends at the Asador on Saturday evening, we were all staying in the hotel. We stopped for a cocktail and a snack. Because our party started with 5 people we were seated at a table for six. When two more joined us we moved a chair from an adjacent table to add the 7th guest. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. When the snacks we ordered were delivered to the table our waitress was assisted by another person from the restaurant in the delivery. Although there were relatively few patrons in the restaurant she was very rude and commented that we "weren't supposed to move the chairs" and we "weren't supposed to have more than six people at our table." We told our waitress not to send her back out to our table again as we did not appreciate her attitude. There was no apology or manager who came by to speak with us about the rude staff member. We won't go there again.

not what I expected

By vision2011 |

I went to the restaurant last week with 3 friends, restaurant was not busy and we had to seat ourselves because hostess was busy talking at the bar. When the server came over she handed us menus that had grease stains on them. The food seem ok, but they do have a lot of sandwiches on their menu. Our water glasses went empty a couple of times and our server had her hair all over our food since she didnt bother to tie it back...I mean she's working with food. the tables are way to close together and theres not much distance from the next table. After dinner we hanged out at the bar and the bartenders take casual to a new level. One of them had her pants halfway down her bottom and her whole thong was showing throught out the night. They should at least make them wear uniforms and look a bit more professional. It seems like management doesnt really care since you can hear cursing and holloring coming from the back. I also noticed too many employess on their cell phones. The whole atmosphere seems unprofessional. I work in theservice industry as well and this is not very good service at all. NEVER GOING BACK

Best Restaurant in Dallas!!!!

By James H |

My colleagues and I come to Dallas about 20 times a year for work related business. We stay in many hotels depending on what’s the best rate and reward points. We were recommended to go to Asador Restaurant by the concierges of our hotel and must say we were absolutely blown away. We will definitely stay in the Renaissance Dallas and eat in Asador every time from now on. When we came to the restaurant it was about 5 pm and the hostess greeted us with a warm smile and welcome. After escorting us to our seats we were disappointed when we had sat for about 5 minutes and nobody had stopped by to talk to us. Quickly after we were looking around a young dark headed male manager (John) approached the table and asked if we had been helped or if he could help in any way. He quickly bought us our first round of drinks to makeup for the delay and proceeded by explaining the concept of the restaurant and all the different options it had to offer. He basically spelled out each course and exactly what we should have to eat and DRINK!!! After giving us the run down he brought a yound male hispanic server (Carlos) over and said he would be taking care of us the rest of the night. Carlos did a wonderful job making sure our drinks never got low and the plates did not sit in front of us. John continued to stop by our table as well as others throughout the restaurant. All in all the food was amazing and the ambiance isn't what we expected but was hip and fun. The drinks were crazy combinations of flavors but were perfectly balanced. This place is a MUST visit if your in Dallas but be sure to request Carlos as your server and have John walk you through the menu and concept. These 2 guys made our night perfect!

LOUSY

By Anonymous A |

Confused by good reviews, drinks were bad, the service terrible and the food so-so. Looks more like a downtown upscale diner than a "fine" restaurant.

Great food

By MattLee1970 |

Have some of the best appetizers around. Good burgers. The thing that is really great is the Sunday brunch buffet. I loved it.

Good restaurant - cheesy bar

By JJCjr |

Their breakfast buffet is one of the best I've ever seen, and their wait staff is very well trained and professional. I wanted to enjoy dinner here, but my family wanted to explore the many nice restaurants in the close proximity of the hotel. I would have given Asador 5-stars except for their cheepish bar requirement of measuring their drinks with old-fashioned measuring instruments aka shot glasses. The feeling is that they are trying to scrimp on their cocktails. Heck, this is an upscale facility, and they charge for it, so why look so redneck by measuring their drinks. They certainly don't do this at Bob's, del Frisco's or Al Biernets...

Poor service. Overpriced

By Susan O |

Servers were belligerent and argumentative. Management failed to step in and supervise this employee. The steak was very mediocre for the price. Mussels were ok. But overall for the money I would choose so many better choices around where you can have good service and food. The level of service failed to meet Marriott standards.

Too salty Burger

By paulart |

Everything was really good and they had the chiles that I remembered from long ago. Service was a tad slower than hoped for. But overall well executed by my waiter, Maurice. Nice guy and knowledgable and attentive once we got going. Had the Wagyu burger but it was Way-tu salty. And overdone. Salad was good but needed extra dressing. Maurice caught this and promptly brought more. They have a great menu and it would be nice to explore it more. Only had 1 dinner there.

White Pigs Need Not Apply

By Bnj333 |

OK did that get your attention? Because if you are a Spanish pig that is white you will not be on the "char bar" charcuterie menu, which offers Iberico ham from Spanish black pigs as well as 600 day aged prosciutto from Parma Italy as well as wild boar salami from Texas. This was a delicious appetizer which left little room for a main course. You may choose from six meats and six cheeses to create your own appetizer which is served on a rustic wooden board. Accompanied by sliced baguette which was flavorful, Crisp and chewy. Entrees were pricey but I suspect they would be delicious.

Good experience!

By TheNanna56 |

Very good food. Fresh and healthy. The hamburger was good. I had not tasted grass fed beef before. You could taste the difference between it ( the good stuff) and regular processed beef.

Breakfast buffet

By Michael F |

Excellent! Smoked salmon at the bagel bar, fresh to order omelettes, fresh orange juice and many other choices - more than we could try in one sitting.

Upscale comfort food

By Jeff C |

We had excellent food and attentive service on three occasions here within the Renaissance Hotel. I'd describe it as upscale comfort food. Recommendations include the grilled vegetables- Brussels sprouts and seasonal vegetables. The grass-fed burger, with fried egg on top and served on a Gluten-free bun, was perfection. Roasted Free range chicken was also very good

OUTSTANDING

By j p |

Just ate at the Rennaisance Hotel's only restaurant, Asador, and had a plethora of unbelievable tastings. There is no salt and pepper on the tables for good reason...it needs no extra seasoning. WOW. more than a hotel venue, its a culinary experience. We had the mussels, which should be trademarked!!! The rolls were to die for (and dip for), the fish, beans and greans was the best recipe I've ever eaten. No room for dessert, but I wish I had. Five stars, in my opinion and worth the price.

Somewhat slow and underwhelming

By KZ B |

Dining alone and knew what I wanted to eat before the waitstaff arrived. Oddly the appetizer arrived before the water was filled Pear & Brie failed to deliver- the pear was crunchy and the Brie taste free. The dominating taste was the balsamic reduction, ie vinegar. The main course was better - well cooked meat and vegetables. Reasonable for a hotel restaurant - not a destination for a night out

High salt!

By BlueSky411 |

I am not sure if it is what Asador is known for, however, my dinner was a high-salt-experience. Interestingly the menu doesn't mention that the brussels sprouts are cooked with pork. I wish the wine menu had some seasonal adjustments, for e.g. add a Rose option when they are fresh and it's warming up in Dallas. Overall, I wish it was more fun.

Superbl Hotel Restaurant

By 1BeachAficionado |

The restaurant is located in the Dallas Renaissance Hotel. It's beautifully decorated, the service is good, and the food was tasty. It is marketed as a local farm to table sourced restaurant. I was at the Hotel for a summit and went there for lunch. I ordered the Achiote chicken sandwich it was delicious and came fast. The restaurant was pretty busy, so I was a bit surprised but pleased. The service was great. A very lovely Hotel restaurant.

Nice Dinner

By ftrdds |

We ate here as we were staying here and it was convenient. Turned out to be a great choice. The food was all excellently prepared and presented. The food is locally sourced and the flavors bear that out. Not and extensive menu but it covered all the bases and no one in our party of six was disappointed. We had several desserts and all were enjoyed as well. I would eat here again given the opportunity. Only reason I did not give five stars was the service, our server was busy and probably had too many table or one that was very demanding.

Delicious breakfast!

By SeatOfMyPntsTravelr |

I had the Texas Benedict on brisket and bacon with Chipotle hollandaise. It was delicious and super flavorful. Smoke from the brisket and Chipotle and the eggs were perfectly poached too.

Great for drinks and apps, skip the dessert

By joeybagz312 |

We had apps her e- the chips/guac are amazing! Get this for sure. Bartender (Chris I think?) was awesome! Desserts weren't impressive. "home made" cookies just tasted like chips ahoy but not that good.

Excellent food and service

By Karen Denby |

The food was really good and the service was awesome. We told them we had tickets to the Theater so they were very attentive. They had made extra fried cauliflower and they gave to us to try. Then after dinner they brought a plate of dessert that they just let us try (sample of different desserts). There was no charge for that. I definitely would recommend the restaurant.

Excellent breakfast

By 2flaneurs |

We stayed at this hotel two nights in October 2015. The first morning we had the cold buffet breakfast which was plentiful and well presented. The second morning we had the full buffet which was excellent in all respects. Highly recommended.

Good food, just slow service

By tripnexus |

I had dinner and breakfast here. The setting is modern and comfortable. The dinner was fine, breakfast was a buffet. I enjoyed the buffet as there were many choices. What made the score average was that at dinner, I, along with another party, waited and waited for someone to seat us despite there being empty tables. Finally, the other party just sat themselves. Once seated, service was very slow. I waited to get my order in and had to ask several waiters if they were serving my table. Once ordered, the food service was quicker. For breakfast, everything was fine, service time was a little better from wait staff. Really it is a restaurant mixed with a bar so it is very loud with little chance to quietly talk over a meal.

Great restaurant, Absolutely incredible hotel restaurant

By JVM-Milford-MI |

Many hotel restaurants are sufficient. A high priced, easy to get to place to eat. The Asador is an exception. As a stand-alone restaurant this place would do well, but as a place located just off the hotel lobby, it is excellent. The menu is not extensive but it has many options to please and some unique offerings. I enjoyed the pulled port tortilla soup and the bacon/pork sliders. And as important, the service was good. Drink refills came without having to make the request. Enjoy.

High end dining in the hotel

By Robert S |

Friends invited us since they were staying at this hotel. Prices are a little higher than I'm comfortable with, but the food was REALLY good-both mains and sides. Probably wouldn't eat there again, though.

Thankfully re-opening under an assumed name

By Ikeamillion |

They closed the basically one year old Asador and moved it into the third floor of the same hotel. The new or temporary location is in a half blocked off banquet room. This place was a cheesy as an old Holiday Inn. The menu card had maybe ten items and they all were overpriced. There was one server for good reason. The place was empty. The food that arrived on the table was to say the least a warmed up tv dinner. I have nothing redeeming at all to say about this place except when it gets a new name, maybe they will not part with a real chef and leave a new place open. Hotel people cannot run a restaurant.

Convenient in the hotel and the food is OK

By 678855 |

I found this place to be just fine. It's not a culinary dynamite, but the food is just fine for bite after a long day of travelling and you don't want to go hunting for better place. I had a salad and an appetizer. The salad I had was served with prosciutto and I found the salad to be very satisfying. It was just fine with an appetizer. The wine by the glass was OK, but not off the charts good. I would probably return to this place for a quick bite after a day of travel. I am not sold on the hotel, so I don't know that this place is high on my list. Worth trying for one night. Service is pretty good and most everyone is nice.

Good hotel restaurant

By Christy I |

I ate here several times while i was staying in the renaissance. The menu has a good selection, but is a little pricey. As it is a restaurant in a hotel, I expected this. For breakfast you can order from the menu or they have a buffet. I had the smoked salmon for breakfast one morning at it was wonderful. Our waiter said they smoked all their own meats, so everything was very fresh. Very good sangrias as well!

Stopped in for drinks...

By DSHMinneapolis |

We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel recently (to get out of the cold after a long winter up north) and stopped into the restaurant a couple times, for drinks, a snack, dessert. I was pleasantly surprised with the food & cocktails. Much better than you expect for a hotel restaurant. The mussels were very good - ginger, coconut milk, red pepper, as was the flama de Asador - a take on a margarita.

A quite sad visit

By mary m |

I came in with a couple of friends for dinner last week and waited at the front for someone to seat us, after a bit we figured it was a self seating restaurant. Finally a girl from the bar started walking towards us and quickly seated us. She did not seem so happy that she had to stop what she was doing and take us to a table. She threw the menu's on the table before we even sat and quickly walked right off to the bar. We were then waiting for a server for almost 4 minutes then finally went to the bar to grab drinks where it took twice as long for a bartender to notice us. She was too busy talking to the host and on their phones. Finally we grabbed her attention and got some drinks and food. The food took a while to come and when it did it tasted a bit bland and cold. We finally grabbed our bartenders attention again after she was done chatting with the staff on the opposite side of the bar and got our bill. We asked to speak with a manager and we waited about ten minutes and still no manager showed. Finally we left the restaurant, I will make sure to stay somewhere else when I come to visit dallas for business where the food is hot and the staff are actually paying attention to their paying customers.

Average Experience at the Asador!

By TravelAway5500 |

Visited the Asador restaurant in mid-May since it was in the Renaissance Hotel where I was staying. Conveniently located at the lobby of the hotel, you just can't miss it! Farmers Market Mule was delicious but small; I almost ordered a second one! Pineapple swizzle drink had better flavor than the Mule. Atmosphere was nice and ambience was great. Only TV screens are over the bar at the back of restaurant. Small screens. My first waiter was not attentive at all. He only showed up to take my order and drink and never checked back in. Typically, another waiter or waitress catches the slack but that didn't happen for another 20 minutes. Second waiter was much better. The BBQ Shrimp appetizer was absolutely amazing! Definitely Jumbo shrimp and not medium-sized being advertised as jumbo. Chip bread dipped in the shrimp sauce was delicious! Average experience overall given the customer service. 2 drinks, one appetizer and one entree with fries for one person came to about $80. Seared scallops dish was pretty good.

Strange

By melody_lc4 |

Expensive and strange flavored food. Valentine's dinner was awful with poor wine pairings. Would not recommend it.

A Pleasant Surprise!

By strongforu |

Asador is in the lobby of the Dallas Renaissance Hotel off Stemmons Hwy. The decor and service are very nice and clean. Also, the staff is very accomodating. I changed several items and each request was met with a smile. The food was tasty and the ingredients were unique without being too eccentric.

Delicious! Hard to believe this is a hotel restaurant.

By travel_nut_1960 |

My friend and I stayed at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel over the weekend Friday December 5th thru Sunday December 7th for the dog show at the Trade Mart. We ate both nights at the hotel restaurant, Asador. The restaurant is ultra modern and elegant, Marble, Granite and back lit Onyx everywhere. The restaurant dress code was very casual; some diners were in shorts and sandals. I had a mixed greens salad and a huge tenderloin filet ($37) cooked perfectly over a wood fire both nights. My friend had the Cobb Salad the first night and the filet the next. The restaurant bar was very well stocked and the cocktails were well crafted and delicious. The homemade chips and guacamole were outstanding. The prices weren’t cheap but the food was worth it and the service was excellent. The $20 buffet breakfast had a nice variety and was very good. They also have made to order omelets included in the buffet breakfast. We both loved the food and were pleasantly surprised and completely satisfied. Far better than the average hotel restaurant, Asador is another good reason to stay at the Renaissance Dallas.

Sunday brunch. Really?

By SusannahBanana |

Too bad the hotel doesn't offer a classy brunch rather than a very basic buffet offering. The decor in the restaurant was the only highlight.

Hidden gems.... amazing food!

By claireparr |

As a person who loves food and manages Chefs, I can be a bit hard to please.... but what an exciting and wonderful restaurant!!!! The creation of world-respected Chef Dean James Max, Asador is a place that celebrates "farm to fire" in the most amazing way. A sky high tequila bar that boasts over 75 precious tequilas, craft cocktails, and executive Chef Brad Phillips and Chef Nick producing perfection on the grill, new and amazing takes on Mexican and Texan foods. All the food served in this restaurant comes from local farms and purveyors who bring passion and local pride to the cheeses and meats and veggies served. Every person on the staff wants to please and it shows in the pace of the meal. So. In other words. Don't miss this. Find the Renaissance Hotel on Stemmons and get ready to blown away!

Great food, so-so service

By AKroaming |

We had a large group, so had a little trouble finding a place that would take a reservation on relatively short notice. Asador was accomodating. Did not realize this was in a hotel until after booking. Once we arrived, we were promptly seated, but service was exceptionally slow. Took nearly 20 minutes for drinks to arrive. Had to ask if we could place food orders. Food also slow to arrive and we were not expecting much, but WOW....outstanding meals all around. Steaks were perfectly prepared, nicely marbled beef. Vegetarian in our group raved about his meal which chef prepared from various sides on menu.

Had mixed results here, Dinner was good, Breakfast was not provided properly

By BobU412 |

Had dinner here with some business associates one night, and the food and service was good. The restaurant is casual, with a decent menu. I had a burger and it was very good. The next morning, my wife and I were checking out, so we ordered room service for breakfast. The food was ok, however, the order was not correct. Expected better from them, which is why I'm giving them an average review.

Not as good as it sounds

By lalobu |

I loved the concept of this restaurant but it really fell short when we actually dined there. I always stay at the Rennaisance for market and because this is the only restaurant there it is usually booked up well in advance of market. This year, I made my reservation early so that we could grab a bite in the hotel. I was really excited to try Asador out but was disappointed with our food quality. I had a seafood pasta that was super watery and lacked flavor. My co-worker doesn't remember what she had but she wasn't really impressed either. With so many great restaurants is Dallas, I wouldn't waste my time eating here unless you don't want to leave the hotel.

Fantastic farm to table

This is the best, most wonderful food I have eaten. I love farm to table concept and this is the concept to the finest. The foods are prepared suburb, veggies are the finest, meats are better than imaginable - can't wait to go back.

Service! Service! Excellent Service!

By HarrisLori |

All I have to say is the food is amazing!!!They cook with an open flame! That brings an outstanding flavor to the food! My server was so sweet! I believe she said her name was Jessy? She had a great sense of humor and had great recommendations!! Exceptional service!!! Jessy was so attentive she even sweetened my iced tea to make me feel at home!!! I recommend this restaurant!!

Nice hotel restaurant

By James A |

We only had dessert, but service was quick and it was very good. Atmosphere is also nice and they had live music in the lobby that is open to the restaurant.

Wish I could give 2 ratings.

By Aud7oaks |

Their breakfast is 5 stars. Excellent buffet and wonderful staff. Unfortunately I avoid eating there for dinner (wish it was still Tbones). The menu is full of overcomplicated dishes with a price higher than they are worth. Plus make sure you have a long time to wait. I've never finished dinner in under 2 hours. I ordered tortilla soup and unfortunately didn't read that it was pork (and overdone with cilantro). I suggest eating breakfast at the hotel but going elsewhere for dinner.

Asador is Delicious!

By WorldTravelRod |

Enjoyed a dinner and a breakfast at Asador this week, both were awesome. For dinner you must start with the Chimichurri rolls, they are so delicious and savory. Service was great and enjoyed a delicious burger. Breakfast sandwich the next day was a great breakfast. This is a destination restaurant that happens to conveniently be in a hotel.

Great Food

By Christine |

The food here is incredible...very surprising for a hotel restaurant. However, allow extra time as the service is extremely slow. We have been twice and both times it was the same.

A restaurant or a noisy bar?

By Mike A |

Had dinner here with a group of 15 at the high table. Starters were very good but the steaks came cooked very rare and a few had to go back for more cooking. Very busy and noisy which made for a lively atmosphere but the place felt more like a pub than a restaurant. Although the steaks were not quite cooked my colleague with the tomahawk pork chop was very happy with their food which was spot on.

Overpriced

By KLWGirl |

The restaurant was overpriced unless you want to drop $40 ++ a person. I want to be able to get a salad or appetizer if I want; this was more for large tab customers.

Great food....not so much for service

By sapm16 |

Had a good meal but the waitress appeared to be having a bad day. Had to ask for every little thing (water, lemon, extra teabag, refill of hot water) Thankful the food made up for the lack of service.

The mesquite smell is overbearing throughout the restaurant and lobby

By gursikhs |

I am allergic to mesquite. This is the only restaurant in this hotel. The kitchen is open and they grill on Mesquite wood. I had to take my food to go. The wine collection was good. I had the pate, foie gras, toast and triple cream brie appetizer. They were very good. The menu looked good apart from all the mesquite grilled food.

Excellent food, service slow due to large event

By Laura W |

My friend and I both had the tomahawk pork chop. It was delicious. Juicy and exactly the way I ordered it. The sides with the dish were excellent. They felt special and intentional. The staff was kind and helpful but I had to ask for my drink and refills. Once I sought them out they were great. There was a large group dining near us, so I assume that's why we didn't get quite the service I was hoping for. That being said our interactions with employees were professional and thoughtful. A manager even stopped to check on our food and seems very engaged with the menu and process. If we had had a little more frequent service, I would definitely give it 5 stars.

Increadible 5 Star Restaurant

By John W |

What is the possibility of finding a 5 star restaurant in a hotel but I found one. It is located in the Dallas Renaissance Hotel and its a special treat. I have had the fish, the chicken, the steak and it's the best. You are not going to find a better restaurant in Dallas and I have eaten at many of them. They buy their meal, fruit, and vegetables local and it show with the quality. Not sure how they cook a thick steak all the way through without burning the outside on a grill but they do. You won't be disappointed, try it...

Excellent food modestly priced.

By FoodCritic89 |

Limited menu done very well. Fresh ingredients, excellent service. Had the cheese steak, seafood pasta medley, fried seafood medley. Excellent drink selection, modestly priced wine. This is a place to go to for excellent food and modest price.

Brussels Sprouts are complex, delicious...must have.

By caseyroot |

Ate at the bar, which comes with it's own challenges. Food: awesome! The bone-in NY Strip had that indescribable, local farm flavor. Hard to pin down...prime grade taste but grass fed texture and depth. Brussels sprouts were layers of (god I wish I knew) flavors...balsamic, lemon, some complex olive oil...just great. Only complaint: the bar staff failed to remind me of the charcuterie offering, which I had read about and which looked unbelievable; alas it was too late because I had ordered. Next time. Bar staff was adequate - good drinks, not too overbearing. Wine list fits the food offering. I like the atmosphere: interesting people eat at a (good) hotel restaurant. Go...sit at the bar...take your time...get a room.

Not my style. Unimpressed

By ALEX P |

A very busy hotel made for a very slow night in the restaurant. We didn't mind the 45 minute wait, but we waited longer once seated. Service was inconsistent and seemed to pass us by. When the food arrived it was not hot, but more luke warm. Didn't mention it as I wanted to eat and go. Feels like the menu could offer some more "normal" options. If it's the only place in this huge hotel, more variety might have been nice. Expensive, coupled with slow service, cold food and a little attitude didn't make for a nice experience. My hotel stay was great and I will return.

Come with an appetite

By Denise92011 |

Nice experience. Five people for a business dinner. Noise level low. Jessy (sp?) was our server and very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We all ordered meat dishes the steaks and pork chops were cooked perfectly and were tender and properly seasoned. They have a mesquite grill and it adds a nice smoky flavor to dishes. Their wine selection by the glass was quite good. I would go again.

The People Working Here Are Awesome !

By Bren |

Kudos to whomever hires . This was the best. Food was delicious. But from Jeremy to the other; it made our trip. Women that served breakfast had dark pixie hair - never missed a beat and took great care of us. Guy at night white ish hair was awesome . But Jeremy - he was incredible. We had planned to eat at other places but his service was over the top and made the trip the best ! Most charming human being on the planet

Better than usual hotel food...

By Stoup |

I have had now at least 12 dinners here from large groups to just me. It is touted as a locally farm to table source restaurant, I think there is truth here. I have now had everything on the menu....the tenderloin excellent, chicken excellent , the Tomahawk pork chop excellent and all the appetizers are good. The bar mixes great cocktails too. It can be a little hit and miss however. I don’t know what happens but I would assume when the head chef is off the quality slips a little...If you are tired and can’t get it together to go outside the hotel you will be well satisfied and on some days well surprised by the food. Ask them to hold off the oil and added fat. A little pricey and the wine list could use some work.

Worst DFW Restaurant

By Precious K |

Sorry if this review is very long.... I have a lot of things to say... We had dinner here on a sat night for a friend's bday. Our party was pretty big about 15 guest. We were seated in front of the open kitchen. So it was kind if nice seeing all the chefs faces and the food coming out of the service window. Food: 1 star For dinner I shared the Kansas steak with hubby due to them not having the scallop dish that I saw on yelp, on the menu. There wasn't anything else pleasing that I wanted to try. The steak was cooked perfect, but needed a little more seasoning. Also ordered the Mac and chz, which was very cheesy but needed a little more salt. Service: 0 star, As a server myself I kind of felted bad that it took the checks a long time to be handed out. Due to it was a large party. But then on the other hand think they should of been more organized with the fact that there was 2 waitess ,serving our table of 15 and we were there only table. Took forever for the server to give me my soda, if we didn't have asked for it. I think I would of never got it. WARNING!!!!!!! When you order a shot of tequila ( which thats all they have) they charge extra $2 to have it dressed (salt n lime) we found this out when the bill come so it total up $30 ex on our tab for rim salt and a slice of lime. That is soooo stupid. I wouldn't be complaning but the server never mentioned that to us and just not went ahead and ring it up behind our backs. Most of the guest didnt even want it. So that was a waste of money. He knew what he was doing, so that the tab could be higher, for a larger tip. Knowing that the tabs was already going to get 20%tip added automatically. Then on top of that shorted us a shot but was agreeing that he give it to us. Dude we were already spending $2k and you have the nerves to be tripping over a one $10 shot. Are you serious!!!! The leak of customer service was not there. Even with 2 servers, they were doing half the job as if there was one server. Also the girls that sit next to me order a side of Brussels spouts and never got it. Until they were almost done with their meal and had to ask the server for it. When asked where was it he agured again that he brought it out. Not knowing that another guest had order one too. When it did come out, that thing was so black and brunt. Next the tickets took about 45mins to be handed out. When waiting and waiting and when we asked for it was told that they got a new computer system about 5 days ago. That should of given the wait staff pretty of time to learn how to work it. From the beginning they should of asked who was going to be on who's tab. That would of made things run smoother. As a server I understand how serving a large party can be. But honstly we didn't ask for anything ( just the things we had ordered) or was being difficult at all. So I don't understand why the service wasn't up to par. Being that we were their only table. For a restaurant like this I would of expected more and from the manager. He knew what the issues where and never once come to our table to speak to us or apologize. He stood there in the corner like a scared dog. So overall this place was okay. If you come with just one other person for dinner. I think the service would of been much better, cuz the fact that they know they have to work for your tip. This was the first and last time I will be considering spending my money at this establishment. Good luck to everyone else.

Service was good, food not so much

By Jazmin S |

The restaurant was empty except for a few people sitting at the bar when I stopped by for lunch. The service was good and fast. I ordered the cheeseburger and it wasn't very good. The meat had no flavor and the outside was somewhat burned. Almost like the grill was too hot so the outside overcooked but the inside was still pink, too pink for my liking. For the price, I would except a lot more.

Chris rocks the bar!

By Suszanne M |

Beautifully designed restaurant in a lovely hotel. Chris has been working as the bartender for several years and he does an excellent job at making mixed drinks. His personality is spot on.

Nice lunch spot at the Renaissance

By Debbe M |

Great a burger and fries with a side of kimchee. Kimchee in Dallas? Who knew:-). Service was a smidgen slow because of several conferences breaking at the same time.

Fantastic Food

By Clay E |

I ate here for the simple reason it is in the lobby of my hotel. I was tired mad hungry so I was surprised that the meal was fantastic. Asador is a farm to table restaurant with all their food sourced locally. It shows. The roasted chicken had a nice crispy skin but the meat was nice and moist. I was so comfortable that I had the steak tartare appetizer and it takes a lot for me to eat raw. As good as the food was, the service was even better. The restaurant serves Pepsi and I asked for a Diet Coke. Ten minutes later there was a Diet Coke on my table. This is definitely a place you should visit when in Dallas.

Really enjoyed this

By Lronn H |

Typically not a huge fan of Hotel restaurants. However, the Asador Burger (sweet onions, bacon, fried egg, secret sauce on locally grown organic beef) changed that. I ordered the burger and got some fresh sliced jalapenos on it, and it was AWESOME!!!. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next night for another. Cant comment on anything else on the menu.......

Good Food, GREAT BAR

By stereodream |

Food was limited, but good. If you looking for something more authentic visit the near by restaurants. Bar has a great selection and long hours.

Guitar Show

By dallashiker |

I loved the chicken tacos. Very good and fresh. Prices are good. It's close to everything in Dallas, it has a nice and safe environment. I just love it.

Best Hotel associated restaurant I have visited in a long time!

By Descarte |

Ambiance is excellent. Breakfast bar delightful. Steak divine. Price is right.

Staff is Amazing

By Sandra S |

The ambience is nice, the food is good...the staff is AMAZING!!! Ask for Rosie or Chris at the bar! :) #thankmelater

Business dinners over 4 nights

By Greg E |

Restaurant located in Westin Hotel. Chic and stylish with diverse menu. Efrain was my server on 3 out of 4 nights and he was Awesome! Attentive to our needs and was always there when wine/beer glasses were empty. The meals were very well done. The Tomahawk Pork Chop and Ribeye were phenomenal. Brussel sprouts or Mac and Cheese sides are highly recommended to share or keep for yourself. The cheese and meat platter was very diverse and quite tasty as an appetizer or stand alone meal. Good wine list and local beers on tap. Pricey place but hopefully your business is paying for it or you have a per diem.

Unbelievably Great Hotel Food

By midwstgirl |

Forget this place is in the Renaissance hotel (itself a thing of architectural beauty). If you live in Dallas, you need to check this place out. It's a season bomb in your mouth, no matter what you eat. Shrimp and grits like you've never had them. Garlic grilled shrimp appetizer with flavorful pickled veggies--not just garnish. Ribeye steak with perfectly cooked diced pototoes and snap peas. I never clean my plate but I cleaned that. Great service from Chris and Chelsey who had great recommendations and covered the whole restaurant and bar area. Chelsea was making some sexy looking martini's, which we'll try next time. Decent wine by the bottle choices that won't break the bank. We look forward to returning to try other menu items, locally sourced as well, so you're supporting local farmers.

Great food, slow service

By Karen K |

We had breakfast here twice, both on the weekend, and supper on Saturday night. This restaurant boasts farm-to-table ingredients and we were not disappointed in any way in that regard. They had an incredible blood orange preserve that came from a local farm whose name my waitress was supposed to forward to me but hasn't yet; the veggies with our supper were as good as what I get out of my garden - very fresh; nothing in the food left us wanting. The service was another story. At supper, we waited 15 minutes to get our menus and then 20 to have our order taken. Fortunately the food was delivered in a rather timely fashion. Moral of this review: the food is wonderful but don't go if you're wanting to eat within 30 minutes of sitting down.

smoked filet

smoked filet and halibut were fantastic...highly recommend this restaurant

The Harvest Dinner, an event to revisit over & over again.

By Patricia B |

The Chef was so creative. The staff was delightful. The food & wine pairings were excellent. We were lead through a wonderland of culinary delights. It was not only fabulous food the interaction with Chef & staff was so informative. They made you feel like family. Thanks for a wonderful evening. We will return.

food are delicious

food ingredient are fresh and delicious . fast service and very nice environment for every occasion . I have been there recently.

Not your usual hotel lobby restaurant

By Lisa D |

Ok, so you are away on business travel, and mosey down to the lobby bar/restaurant for dinner. Low expectations, right? In any other circumstance, I would completely agree, however, Asador is not your typical hotel establishment. Right off the lobby of the Dallas Renaissance, you will find a first class eatery, which also has a premier tequila selection. The dink selection is impressive, and the pico de gallo margarita a must. Don't even think about not ordering a Char board. The wild boar salami, locally sourced, is tasty and delicious. The team at Asador creates their own grainy mustard, and service it as a side to the smoked duck, cheese assortment, and chutney, which together, make up your char board. Seriously, it's outstanding. We had the Asador burger (very good!) and the wood roasted flat iron steak. All the meats are grilled over wood burning grills and you taste the difference. The Brussel sprouts are a "must have" side dish with whatever you order. If you have room for a sweet finish to your meal, the apple cobbler is a light, option. No heavy crust or crumble, just some sweetly spiced apples to tickle your pallet. Service is what you would expect at the higher-end Renaissance. Since when did business travel get so good? If I lived here, this would be on my "must go" list.

Undercooked chicken and overcooked steak

By travelingmannyc |

raw and bloody chicken and well done steak. good margaritas tho - and at a Tuesday nite special price of $6 - GOAL!!!!

What a surprise!

By Alohatraveler2014 |

When we walked into to the hotel, the aroma of smoked beef engulfed us! In a good way. We were looking forward to Texas BBQ. I don't know if that's what we had but we were certainly surprised by the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Very tasty, and our waiter said they smoke the beef for 4 hours. We had the brunch buffet the next morning since it came with our room, but when we saw the eggs Benedict. And French toast wished we had ordered from the menu! Very original and yummy looking items! Can't wait to go back to this restaurant.

Great food, creative drinks, excellent service

By TKO |

Ask for Ruben (server); he is terrific. Balsamic grilled brussel sprouts are terrific. They have a good wine selection and a varied cocktail list, including a baby Yoda.

What is wrong with this place?

By Tom S |

We dined here over the weekend while staying at the hotel. I am not sure of they were ready for the crowd, which is strange because they are actually in the hotel. Service was horrible and food was marginal. 50% of the empty tables are not bussed and people are standing in line to get a table. I actually had to waive my arms to get the waiters attention for a refill. Management of the hotel and the restaurant need to be on the same page when a busy weekend is on the books.

Nice breakfasts

By Tony J |

This was my first time here on business, because my expo was located at the adjacent Dallas Market Hall, which was a short walk adjacent to the hotel. When I arrived I was recognized as a Lifetime Titanium Elite member. Because the Bonvoy lounge was closed over the weekend I was given a coupon good for the complimentary continental breakfasts at Asador valued at $16 during my stay here. The lounge closed Friday at noon and reopened again on Sunday at 5:30pm. Using my coupon here at Asador, I was able to upgrade to the full buffet breakfast or any full breakfast with a value of $22 for only an additional $5 plus taxes. My two full buffet breakfasts at the Asador Latin American restaurant were very nice. I enjoyed my cheddar cheese omelet on my first morning and my two eggs sunny side up, which were not overcooked for my second breakfast. Table service here was spectacular. I would definitely return here again for breakfast if and when the Bonvoy lounge is closed.

Pleasantly Surprised

By teardeer20 |

I am born and raised in Dallas and I enjoy finding new restaurants to try in the Dallas area. Asador popped up on OpenTable and I figured I should try it. The blonde hostess was very friendly and my friends and I were sat quickly. I thought the signature cocktails were fun with the different flavored rims in the square glasses. The server gave some great food recommendations and didn’t up sell us (I hate that). Service was a little slow, but the food made up for it. The chicken with brussels sprouts were AMAZING, I’ve been craving it everyday since. I’ll definitely come back again!

Excellent

By Voyager793796 |

Food and service both great. Nice wine, beer and spirits selection. Upscale food at a reasonable price. Server Elisabeth (Niki) was awesome!

Wonderful experience!

By TraveLynnJ |

My mom and I visited Asador on Saturday night May 18 during our stay at the renaissance. Our waiter was Efrain. He was so attentive, gave us amazing service, and had great suggestions for what to order. We had dirty martinis from the bar that were perfect! My mom loved the Brie and pears appy, I ordered the salmon sandwich-so yummy with the dill aioli, and mom got the pork belly bowl (awesome as well!). We shared a side of Brussel sprouts with bacon...yum. We didn’t want the lovely meal to end, so we finished with Baileys and coffees. We ended up going to a concert afterwards, and when we returned we were hungry, but the restaurant was closed. I attempted to call room service (the line was busy...Saturday night), so I went to the front desk to ask if I could just order something from there. I happened to see Efrain at the restaurant closing up, and he asked how our concert was. We talked for a minute, and I told him we were a little bit hungry, and couldn’t get through with room service. Efrain and another staff member (lovely blond lady) said not to worry, they would see what they could do for me. They guided me over to have a seat. Within a few minutes, Efrain had made a turkey sandwich with chips and salsa and said it was on the house! What amazing service...Efrain definitely went above and beyond! Thanks Efrain and Asador for a wonderful night! We will be back! :)

Love the mac and cheese

By Anne A |

This restaurant had twists on classic foods I love. Mac and cheese with bits of bacon was delicious. Brunch was also good.

Fresh food and great service..

By 182rosalieh |

A must visit and stay at the Renaissance hotel in Dallas. When a chef comes to all the tables and chats about the meals you order and asks for comments, it has to be great! It was very well presented on the plate and so fresh to the palate.

Not bad, Not great!

By Dustan A |

I had the Kansas City Steak. It was a decent but not outstanding steak. The meat was a mediocre cut but it was prepared well. The appetizers were the best part! Well, that and the nice alcohol selection!

Good food, bar is over-managed

By seaskills |

Chicken fried steak ($21) is good. Mac &Cheese side is exceptional ($8). Pass on the fish sandwich ($14). Overall, food is good and generally reasonably priced for a hotel. So why the 3-star? Cocktails are expensive ($12); small (around 3-oz plus a ton of ice) and so over-managed that the bartenders are so busy exactky measuring drink ingredients that they are slow and have zero personality to actually run a bar. I realize this is a profit-making business and many if the customers are transient, but just seemed a bit of a gouge -

Good Atmosphere

By Law221 |

I travel alot and was surprised to see the old steakhouse gone and a new modern looking restaurant in its place at the Renaissance. I was too late to eat off the full menu, i was told it stopped at 10pm, but did get to choose from a late night menu. The brisket sandwich was very good, i was expecting hotel type of food but was surprised at the quality of the food. The bartender was great and seemed knowledgable in what she was serving. It was a nice change from the usual hotel bars.

BECAUSE WE DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE HOTEL

By Sophieandmitch |

Just like we chose the Renaissance Hotel because of convenience, we chose the Asador for the ease of eating in. The food is delicious and one can definitely tell the ingredients are farm fresh. What a difference that makes. I recommend the Brussels Sprouts, real potato fries and hamburgers (tip: order more cooked that you normally do). The smooth margaritas are just medicinal!. Spoiler alert details: Seems to be understaffed. Check itemized ticket-the wine quote was different price but was adjusted when we called attention to it. And, hopefully, whomever the young man with the dark goatee and mustardy sport jacket has stopped nibbling and tasting food (with his hand, not plastic spoon) off the kitchen line which is visible from the dining area.

On point!!!

By janreed6 |

Compliments to Paul, Chef Mark and Michael!! Farm to table fresh!! Unique dishes & flavor combinations which tantalize the taste buds! Mac and cheese is definitely one to write home about! Each and every desert was uniquely beyond delicious! Our evening was blessed by talented individuals which take pride in being the best!! Exquisite experience!!!!

Fabulous!

By RArnold16 |

The atmosphere, service and food were amazing! The server was very knowledgeable about not only the food but the wine and beer selection as well. Their food is "farm to table" - no preservatives, and it was absolutely delicious!

Overpriced, limited menu, hotel food for sure

By Kari L |

This is pretty much a hotel restaurant, no matter how much the decor makes you think otherwise. The food is greasy and trying to be fancier than it is. The food is exactly like the food at the Hyatt down the street.

AMAZING drinks

By Jee ess |

They will make whatever you want with the PERFECT flavors! The bartenders are also VERY personable and friendly!

NICE TO COME BACK

By azteca514 |

We ate there one time, good food and good service, nice stuff, we have a few drinks at the bar very nice people, James at the bar very nice guy, the girl that works there with him to, but don't remember the girl's name, every thing was perfect!!

Good, but not Exceptional

By WynneWoody |

Located in the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, it is a pretty good place for a bite, but my impression was that it is really only a good "hotel restaurant", and not really a great restaurant. I will say, however, that the service was quite good. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I can only speak to my experience. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel, and it was put together like a bagel sandwich, with the cream cheese, etc., already schmeared, plus I didn't detect a caper or lemon in the mix. What!? No capers!? Heresy!! I like to have it all laid out on the plate, so that I can put it together the way I like it, and that is the typical way that salmon bagel is served. A little disappointing. I usually like it when a restaurant puts a new twist on an old standard, but this one just wasn't to my liking. So, given that it might just be a personal preference issue, take my comments for what they are worth to you.

Amazing food!

By gailgames |

A co-worker and I ate here, while staying at the hotel. The steak was delicious and I loved the stuffed, baked onion. The best part however, was the homemade chips and salsa. We returned the next night just for that! You must try them.

Farm fresh and delicious

By AAXXX247 |

I'm usually leery about hotel restaurants. They're usually overpriced and the food is blah. What a pleasant surprise Asador is! Ambiance is chill and chic with a little nod to the Texas country vibe. The burger is so good (served perfectly with an egg and a tasty bun). Beef tastes so fresh I feel like this cow was alive earlier today! The best is the side of crunchy Brussels sprouts. They're lightly fried and served in an agave nectar sweet sauce with hunks of bacon. Yum! Speedy, friendly service. Impressive!

Excellent!

By stevebrigden |

I was staying at the Renaissance Hotel and visited Asador for lunch. I hadn't realised that it was a restaurant in its own right - just assumed it was a standard hotel restaurant..... I ordered the Asador Burger and I have to say that it was the best burger I have ever eaten! Amazingly tasty. The staff were great, as was the atmosphere, but the Asador Burger was better!!

Nice for a hotel restaurant

By Woodstock1968 |

I normally am not a fan of hotel restaurants since they normally don't live up but this one was a pleasant surprise. It's farm to table which is the rage right now. My colleagues and I had a nice business dinner here. Entrees were roughly $30 plus sides. Our bill for five was $360 before tip.

Outstanding Service!

By Kaytlin P |

I want to start of by saying that the service provided by Miss Yesy was absolutely fabulous! She was very knowledgeable and had a great, bubbly personality! The food is great as well as the craft cocktails! Definitely have the oven rolls, I personally loved the tenderloin great recommendation!

One of the best hotel restaurants around.

By Gary B |

I'm a frequent guest at the Rennaisance Hotel at the Dallas Market Center, Dallas, TX. They've recently remodeled their restaurant and bar and the results are outstanding. The open dining area is inviting and modern with the bar at the back and an open kitchen to the left. The staff is terrific - they continually deliver excellent, attentive service and the manager is continually on the floor and kitchen. Don't get used to the menu - it changes frequently and is supplied by local farms. All items I've had have been excellent (I don't limit myself to favorites) and the presentation is almost too good to mess up with your fork! I think you'll find it a great alternative to the chain restaurants in the local area.

The Worst

By Reggie T |

We were visiting Dallas on Thanksgiving for the Raiders/Cowboys game. We came across Asador bc it one of a few restaurants with a Thanksgiving dinner on the menu. First of all, the service was terrible and slow, nevermind the restaurant was not crowded (less than 20 customers total). The turkey and dressing was cold, and when I say cold, I mean refrigerator cold. I even asked the waiter if he could put it in the microwave. He just shook his head and asked if I wanted to order something different. I really wanted turkey and dressing, so reluctantly I ordered the ribeye. I came out hot but it was the toughest piece of ribeye ever (no exaggeration). Never, will I ever. Avoid this place, if you can. The worst $125 I have ever spent eating out.

Good food and great selection of local beers

By SiR2015 |

Good restaurant based on the ground floor of the Renassiance hotel. I ate here a few times during the my stay at the hotel and found the staff to be attentive and friendly with great knowledge of the locals beers. Food was very good especially the breakfasts, and has a great atmosphere for a few drinks after a hard day at a conference!

GREAT SERVICE!!! Efrain Rocks!

By Lauren E |

I was staying at the hotel for a business conference this past weekend and also back in June. Our group requested, both trips, the waiter Efrain. He provided us with incredible service and made sure we had a wonderful time. He went above and beyond his job to take care of us and he truly deserves recognition from management. Even with a big group, each time he made sure our drinks were full and food in our bellies. He even remembered our drinks from when we last saw him in June! Amazing! Please give him a big thank you for me and our group- Efrain truly made our time at the hotel memorable and enjoyable.

Bruunch

By Louis D |

Was not please with service in restaurant. The waiter was trying to please us but did not seem sincere. Try to carry on conversations with me but I really was not in the mood. Since it was the weekend they were only serving brunch. I had pancakes that tasted like biscuits. Not good.

inside Renaissance

By ScottEP |

Very good salad and guacamole with chips. Soothing atmosphere. Service a bit slow, but friendly on my visit.

If I lived here I would always eat here!

By Justin P |

I will start of by saying that the service at this restaurant is the best I have ever had! My server was Yessi and I will have to say she made this experience the best! I am a picky eater and she had me try things that I would never try. Food was amazing it had so much flavor! I had Shishito peppers which were awesome!!! Yessi also recommended the tenderloin which was even better! Yessi made sure that everything was perfect even though I was dining alone. Thank you Yessi for the great service!

Great Hotel Restaurant

By fsrtah |

This is a great hotel restaurant. The food is varied and in all price ranges. Everything we ate was much better than expected. However, it is the service that makes this a 5. The wait staff and the manager were constantly there to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience. And we did. Gets my vote!!

Good, but very pricey

By Melanie L |

We got in rather late on our first night & did not want to venture out to find something to eat. So, we decided to visit the hotel restaurant. Neither of us was extremely hungry, so we weren't going to order anything major. Much to our surprise, a simple hamburger was priced at $12.00 WITHOUT any side dish selections. The hamburger was very tasty, but not $12 tasty. If we find ourselves in this situation again, we'll probably pull out the GPS & find a nearby fast food joint.

Great food and in a hotel

By Gary M |

Hotel food is often not so great but this place is trying and delivering. Most food is locally sourced and very nicely prepared. Our group of 10 had a variety of beef, fish, chicken, and burger all were reportedly very good. Their cheese and chacuterie platters (specials of the day) had great variety. Their mixed drinks were imaginative and very different. I like beets, my wife hates them but even she agreed that their beet/gin drink was actually good---but a bit sweet. If you're staying in or near the Renaissance Dallas there is no need to drive elsewhere.

Very good hotel restaurant

By SIPNSMILE |

Very cool atmosphere. You can see the chef and his staff cooking and the decor is very cool as well. Food and drinks were very good. Prices were typical of a higher end hotel restaurant. Waitstaff and bartenders were very attentive.

Administrative Celebration

By Natasha |

Our manager took all the Admins to lunch here and the food was good. It was not for everyone as some just liked regular American food, which they had a cheeseburger, but it's really organic and all local. The waiter took the time out to explain how they only buy local and educate those who needed it on how they cook their food. They even validated the valet parking and the host was a great way to start and end out lunch, he was so friendly. I will be going back there on my own for lunch.

High Energy

By Bink |

Great bar crew lead by my friend Chelsey. Super personable and attentive - this is a really high/energy hotel bar crew. A few specialty drinks and a full restaurant menu - definitely worth a visit! Equally solid service in the AM with a last-second take-out order handled flawlessly by Misty Jenkins and the breakfast crew. Great stay / great resturant and bar.

superb restaurant

wonderful food and service, super bartender who can make ANYTHING, and four screens to watch games. very accomodating staff

Excellent dinner

By 4nobush |

Excellent dinner. Had a great fillet cooked perfectly at medium. Three others had various types of steak all enjoyed. Even though it's in a hotel, I would definitely recommend. Best steak I've had for a while.

Lots of Style

By Giselle H |

Great restaurant! Cool Style! Delicious breakfast buffet or order from the menu! casual for lunch, nice dinner and hip after dinner! A bit pricey although common for hotel restaurant. Most of our time was after our event at Market Hall - a quick drink to chill and then back down later on for drinks. The staff was very friendly and right on top of their position. After dinner they have live music. Private rooms available too if your event requires a separate dinner table and/or presentation. The rooms are all very stylish and warm. Great atmosphere.

Dinner was great but breakfast service was horrible

By utfiero |

Asador is the lobby restaurant in the Renaissance Hotel. It has a farm to table approach. The interior is modern and clean. We ate at Asador three times over three days- once for dinner and twice for breakfast. Summary: The dinner crew is great, but the breakfast crew was amateur and needs a new manager. 12/25 Dinner: We made reservations a few weeks in advance for dinner on Christmas day. Nearly all other restaurants in Dallas were closed Christmas, and we wanted to guarantee a table. Plus reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp were pretty good; since we were staying at the Renaissance we decided to give it a try. Service was the proper balance between friendly and efficient. The restaurant had few patrons but was fully staffed. The shishito pepper appetizer was very creative and delicious. The Asador burger was great! Patty was cooked as requested and the fried egg on top was perfect. The draft beer selection is limited but had a few decent choices. Breakfast experience: 12/26 Two guests at breakfast that were not wearing shoes were accepted at Asador. Although several guests and staff members were obviously disturbed by the lack of decorum and propriety in walking around the restaurant (including buffet) without shoes, the manager took no action. I reported the incident to the front desk and expressed dismay over allowing patrons without shoes in the restaurant. This is a sign of very poor management. Additionally, the continental buffet was minimal, and the bread was stale. Perhaps the bread was stale because of the holiday, but why serve subpar food? Substitute and manage what you have that’s fresh and good. The fresh fruit was nice, but it was not well prepared. For example, some strawberries were cut in half nicely, others were butchered. 12/27 The hostess led us to our table, and she took our voucher for complimentary breakfast. The hostess explained that with our voucher the continental breakfast included the continental breakfast and omelets and waffles. We asked our server about the omelets and she said the hot food was an extra $5. We told our server what the hostess said, and our server rolled her eyes and said the hostess was wrong. We had the continental breakfast, and on 12/27 some random blocks of cheese were added for this day. Later, our server asked for our voucher, and we explained that the hostess took it. The server commented that the hostess should not have done so. Later, the server came back to our table and gave us our voucher. Then, incredibly, she told us “next time you should keep your voucher because we need them for the bill.” I asked her if she actually thought it was appropriate to chastise a customer for following the hostess’ instructions. The server became very defensive and rudely commented something to the effect that the hostess was wrong. I couldn’t believe it! The server then walked over to the manager, and the manager looked our way but never approached our table. Most managers would have sought clarification or would have apologized for the poor communication among staff. As a manager myself, I diagnose the problems experienced at breakfast as a lack of management leadership and staff training. Based on the events of 12/25 and 12/26, Asador needs a new breakfast manager. Our rating of 2/5 was heavily influenced by our breakfast experiences. For dinner, I’d rate Asador 4/5 (especially for a hotel restaurant).

All About the Chimichurri

By WorldTravelRod |

Great restaurant, I think my third or fourth visit. Nice atmosphere inside the Renaissance Tower lobby. A must have in my opinion are the Rolls as a $5 appetizer. Chimichurri on top and infused with goodness inside, they are sinfully awesome. For dinner i had the flank steak again, its served with a baked onion stuffed with scalloped potatoes, just awesome. Portions are nice sized but not too large. Really consistently well done by the staff every time i have visited.

Mother's Day Brunch

By txabby |

I have eaten here before and enjoyed it. This time I invited 3 friends that are restaurant owners to have lunch and they where all very impressed. They had a crab eggs Benedict that was totally off the charts!!! Their service and quality of food is incredible and of course, the live entertainment music helps out some :-) I love the fact they are organic. The restaurant served over 350 people Sunday and turned down a ton of people so that has to say something!

Excellent Food and Bar

By RLCZ70 |

In Dallas for business convention, great food and prices were reasonable for big city, bar prices were affordable too, friendly staff

Would expect more for the price

By bkhintonmd |

I ate at the Asador as it was located in the hotel and I didn't want to get out into the Dallas traffic. The atmosphere is wonderful. Quiet, beautiful. I chose the steak I ordered more based on the sides that came with it rather than the steak itself. I ordered my steak rare, as usual. The steak had a great taste, but was a bit tough. I got the brussel sprouts as another side and they were very good. The staff was great and always made sure I was take care of. I gave this restaurant a 4 because of the toughness of the steak and the fact that I would have preferred to choose my sides rather than not have the option. For the price, I would expect a perfect steak. Not a bad place to eat, but for the money, I would choose somewhere else.

Date night with 2 couples, win!

By Stephanie W |

This is our second time here, and also having Carlos as our server. It was amazing from start to finish. Carlos is very knowledgeable, and offers wonderful suggestions. He is very attentive and we will always ask for him. The Chef Mark came out to our table, and it was clear that he is truly passionate about his craft, and the guests total experience. This is a must go to indulge in amazing food, serve, and atmosphere.

Go for lunch!

By grandmommyof6 |

Although the hotel here is awful, the restaurant serves up a delicious, inexpensive lunch. Try the excellent brisket tacos listed under snacks. There are 2 and really enough to for the meal. If you are really hungry, also order the bacon mac& cheese ...it is the best I have had in a restaurant. Service is fast and friendly, and you can actually have a conversation with a friend. It does get crowded, so go a little early or late.

Good service and drinks

By acorporon |

Stayed at the Renaissance hotel and had three meals at the Asador. The breakfast buffet was very good. I was impressed with their charcuterie selection (available all day). I ordered the steak tartare for an appetizer on our first night and was sufficiently impressed that I ordered it again the next night. All in all, a good dining experience. The bar staff was happy to prepare drinks off menu, which was nice, and the servers were very knowledgeable as to both drinks and food. They were a little slow on service, but I would chalk that up to being extraordinarily busy with the OU/TX crowd.

Excellent service

By RoadWarriorworld |

Excellent service at Restaurant - Food was great - despite a big group- the food was on time with a great service . Room service is great - no frills - no unnecessary extra service fees and charges . Food was great .

The perfect steak

By Whereaminow1 |

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw it was in a Marriot. The service was very good and my filet was spectacular. I’m here with about 10 other people and we are all loving our meal. There is a fee to park BTW.

EXCELLENT food. Especially the banana creme brulee

By Grace W |

We had the brussel sprouts for the appetizer, the steak with the onion with gruyere au gratin for the entrée, French fries with the clove ketchup as a side, and the banana crème brulee for dessert. ALL of it was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite. We also ate here for lunch the next day and had the tortilla soup and another banana crème brulee. (Note: excellent Gluten Free accommodations. I ate everything listed above except for the fries since it is a shared fryer and the management was very efficient to accommodate my needs)

Exceptional

Highly recommend this restaurant. Easy walk from the Anatole. Creative menu with some outstanding items. Also provides a range of items in varying prices. Good atmosphere.

Great burger and fries.

Here for a conference. Great burger and fries and a glass of wine. A little pricey but good portions.

Restaurant Week Fail

By JPHauck |

Went for restaurant week. Here is my take. The appetizers on the price fix were the best of the meal. The sweet corn crab soup was a bit too sweet. The shrimp and grits had way too much sauce on it which killed the flavor of the shrimp or grits. The lemon tart should have been a deconstruction cause it was an overly sweet mess on a plate. Friends got the brownie and it was uncooked. Cocktails were ok. Service was pretty bad. We ran out of water. Fries were not delivered with one sandwich. We still got no water. We went nearly 15 minutes without any visit to our table. Now we made the best of it but it was a poor representation. The wait staff was dressed far to casual and looking unrepresentative of a restaurant of this type. I expect at something sort of fancy that staff should be dress slacks and collared shirts. The staff this night looked like pub staff and not hotel restaurant. So overall this was a disappointment. The ambiance is nice but the music was loud. So maybe they were having an off night. But it felt like the waiter oversold and overhyped items of his liking and I am not sure it was all that good. And grabbing that pot recks your brain as an excuse for forgetting us was not great. Asador needs to raise the bar. Get the staff more professional. Don't drown the food in sauces. And step up the overall service game and it could really be something.

Very tasty food with creative twist in every dish

By DiegoCandela |

We stayed at the Renaissance here for a night and dined here. Food was very tasty and flavors of each dish were harmonized together. For example, the House salad with walnuts, apples and dressing was different than the side salad served with the tomahawk pork shop plate. Staff did a great job of checking that special food requests were feasible by checking with the chef. Staff also did a great job with keeping the drinks flowing.

Great food and great service

By thomasstack |

The Kanas city steak was cooked to perfection. I also loved the chicken soup and the shissito pepper (SIC)

Ate Here Several Times

By txtfa001 |

I really liked the restraint and ate there several times. On my first try I started with their award winning margarita and it was very smooth. I really liked the weekend breakfast buffet. All I needed was the cold buffet which included a meat and cheese board along with what you would usually expect. Oatmeal is included with the cold buffet. My friend had the hot buffet and enjoyed it. Everything I had was excellent, especially the red fish and the hamburger, which was actually cooked to order. The service was excellent. Great restaurant.

Wow - one of the best steaks I have ever had!

By Chris K |

I stayed 2 nights at the Renaissance hotel because I am Marriott Platinum. I live north of Dallas but needed to stay near downtown because of a convention. I was looking forward to eating at some of the famous Dallas restaurants I read about because my meal would be on my company's dime! Since I was tired, I decided to eat at the hotel the first night because the restaurant, Asador, had a great vibe and looked like something where a high end local would eat. I tried the brisquet sandwich which was incredible! I loved the crunchy onions mixed in with the meat and the spicy ketchup which was a great alternative to bbq sauce. The spicy guacamole and fresh fried chips rocked. Because my first dinner was so good, I decided to stay in my second night and try the steak. It just might have been the best steak I have ever had (and I love going to Bob's, III Forks, Del Friscos, and Silver Fox - you know, the high end Dallas steakhouses). I got the filet with the grilled onion stuffed with cheese as a side. Normally I just put salt and pepper on my steak, but the sauce was incredible! It was so good that I e-mailed the chef and he gave me the recipe and I am going to make it myself this weekend. The service was impeccable and I would describe this restaurant as being upscale without being uppity. If you are a tequila fan (which I am not) the bar has a huge selection of the stuff.

Good Burger

A group of colleagues had dinner at this restaurant during a meeting... the service was good and the burger and the grilled Brussel sprouts were quite good. I was a bit disappointed with the desserts though...

Best burger at a hotel restaurant

By York Foodies |

I stayed in the hotel and because of no room service I came downstairs to have dinner. I got a simple Wagu beef burger and fries. It was simply delicious.

Never Ever Again!!!

By bstaceyb |

We went to this establishment for a rehearsal dinner. The wait staff complained from the minute we sat down that we had more in the party than we reserved. Before the waiter started taking orders he made the statement that no one should change seats after the order was taken??? Who change seats in a restaurant??? Another waiter asked rudely if we need help with menu--We were waiting on the quest of honor to arrive to order. No one came around to refill drinks or give you original drink request. Food was very bland--definitely not worth the money. I will not return to this restaurant.I would have given a rating of -5 stars if possible.

Upgraded hotel restaurant

Featured as a upgraded hotel restaurant but the steaks were superior. Wait staff was friendly and interactive.

Great food and beers

Very good staff and food delicious

Dinner was delicious with good choice of prices. Breakfast was amazing as it was made with as much care as a pricy dinner - good variety, fresh and delicious.

T-Bones gets an A+ in our book

By Geonu12 |

Good service and good quality of food. The staff was prompt on filling beverages and accommodating our family.

I really wanted to like this place

By sushifiend_87 |

The staff was wonderful!! Really nice and helpful. The bar area was great and the ambiance was wonderful. But the food was so inconsistent. We stopped by for two days, and in that time it would go from fantastic, to salty and overcooked. We ordered two medium burgers for lunch, one was cooked and salted within an inch of its life, the other was bleeding. A more consistent kitchen and it would be wonderful.

Great Restaurant Week Experience

By brandon j |

My friends and I decided to try Asador during Restaurant Week and had a wonderful experience. The Figs and Pigs was so flavorful and my tendeloin was cooked perfect! None of us participated in the wine pairings but our server did give us great recommendations from the cocktail list. Will be back!
