If you're in the mood for great sushi this is the place to visit. We ordered several rolls. They were delicious! Each one had fresh ingredients and a pleasant presentation. The service was delightful and the price was affordable. A must visit if you're in the area.

Little expensive but they make some great rolls this side of the SFV. I rwallyy like the avacodo rolls and miso soup! Tempura is good too!

Sushi is fairly priced and very good. The cooked dishes are also very good and quite reasonable. This is a great family restaurant. I wish their happy hours were better. They end at 5.

Wonderful sushi. Had 5 different types of rolls and each one was beautifully hand crafted and scrumptious. Service was efficient, pleasant and quick. Definitely recommend this place!

I don’t know why I waited a year to go back to this sushi restaurant. The fish is extremely fresh. Many unique and very interesting dishes. The service is excellent. This is a short and sweet review… Excellent excellent excellent.

We love Asahi Sushi on Balboa Blvd. in Granada Hills. We've tried many other sushi restaurants in the area and find that Asahi's offerings always taste fresher and more flavorful. The service is good, the sushi chefs are friendly and the prices are reasonable. But we go to Asahi mainly for the food! [Oh, try their fried ice-cream for dessert.}

We came here for my niece's birthday and had no problem getting seated right away. Our server was very attentive and our food fresh and delicious. My favorite has to be the chicken teriyaki bowl although there is a huge selection of sushi to choose from. Try the garlic edamame for starters, it's sooooo good!!! We'll definitely be back.

This is the 3rd time our group has visited and sat in their small dining room. Their chairs aren't comfortable thus you don't want to stay long. My husband likes the beer and their combo meals. I'm diabetic & they don't serve much that is diabetic friendly. I ordered a chicken bowl & asked if they could substitute some of the rice for mire vegetables. Unfortunately no, the bowl has about 3 cups of white rice & very few veges. I don't think I will return as their food raises my blood sugars just too high.

I ordered the Balboa Roll. I normally order a shrimp tempura type roll with spicy tuna, this one has avocado, regular tuna and tempura fried onion over the top. But for some reason, it just tastes better than everywhere else I have had similar rolls. So delicious! With a little ginger, it is just perfect. Normally they put a spicy mayo over it, but I don't care for mayo so I got it without it. I also ordered some green beans in a delicious slightly sweet garlic soy sauce, very delicious as well. The place is fairly busy, but very nice, all the food looks beautiful.

This was our second visit. We will definitely come back. We enjoyed our bento box (big portions so recommend 2 item box unless hungry and want 3 item box). We had various rolls before. Lots of choices for rolls. Staff was very attentive and friendly, especially to my elderly mother. Place is cute and clean.

There was a short wait to be seated, but well worth it! The tonkatsu ramen was very good and the sushi was fresh and very good. I was wondering why the waiters great customers with, "Ohayou Gozaimasu," when it was evening. Then, I realized that "Asahi" means "sunrise" in Japanese. Interesting.

Asahi has the best sushi in the valley by far. They have a large variety to chose from and all very good. Highly recommend this restaurant it!

Stopped here for lunch on a Monday. It wasn't super busy. We were greeted very quickly and by a friendly staff member. Our food was also delivered quickly and the presentation was on point. Our food was delicious and they have Chinese offerings, not just sushi so if you aren't a fan of sushi you can always opt for the Chinese. I actually had the orange chicken, and it was very, very good. I would definitely recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner and it was not overly expensive.

Full disclosure--I don't eat sushi, so my review will be worthless to anyone wants to know the quality of sushi at Asahi. Why am I reviewing this place? Because every time I visit from out of town and ask my daughter where she would like me to treat her out to dinner, SHE chooses Asahi. She says the sushi in wonderful is many ways--variety, quality, freshness, presentation. For me, I appreciate the small but delicious menu of cooked meals and I especially like the wonderful and attentive staff. Thank you, Asahi!

The sushi, sashimi, and tempura are quite good, but where Asahi Sushi SHINES is their rolls! Attractive to look at, creative use of ingredients, and oh so good on the taste buds. Love sitting at the bar to watch the sushi chefs work, but the booths and tables are comfortable, too. The main room is a bit quieter; the enclosed outdoor patio gets a bit noisy. Several televisions scattered around are usually tuned in to some sports event or another. Quick and courteous servers. We've been here 14 times in the last four years. One of our favorites in the Valley (Granada Hills); I chose it for my last birthday dinner.

We came to this popular Asahi Susie (旭壽司) to celebrate our anniversary on this Friday night. Even though we arrived at early evening (they did not take reservation), we saw a long waiting line. The parking spaces for this strip mall where the restaurant located were quite limited. We started our dinner with Hot Sake ($7, good for 6-7 cups, depends on how you filling it), Softshell Crab ($9, crunchy but soft, really good), and Salmon Kama ($10, “it’s FRIED a little too much”, my better half complained of, but I like it that way.) Main dishes were Sushi Combination C ($20, excellent) and Comb. Bento with BBQ Rib & BlackCod ($19, scrumptious, particularly the BlackCod. Ribs, a little too chewy, not seamless in a sense.) Dessert was Tempura-Green Tea Ice cream ($5, Tempura covering the ice cream? A gimmick, it did not add anything to the taste). The setting of this restaurant was simple and decent. Service was cordial and pleasant. We believed we had a good choice (of this restaurant).

My first time in this restaurant. The service was great. The sushi fresh and lots of variety to choose. appetizer jalapeno poppers awesome, Garlic Edamame was so flavorful. The roll had ever "The oh my God" delicious. Crazy combination for lunch was great! I recommend the restaurant. When i come back LAX , definitely with stop at this restaurant again.

They have great and delicious servings of sushi and tempura. I always come here with my nieces and nephew for dinner every time I pay them a visit in Simi Valley. Can't wait to come back again .

We were greeted as soon as we came in and was seated right away. Our drink order was immediately taken and when it was served the guy said "have an enjoyable evening." I thought that was sweet of him. We ordered the Balboa and Energy rolls and sesame chicken for appetizer. The rolls came before the appetizer which was no biggie. The energy roll had good flavor and a good amount of kick on the spicy tuna. The Balboa roll tasted good at first bite but the successive bites was blah for me. I could not feel any kick from the spicy tuna in the dish and the flavor profile is pretty mild. I love that onions rings on top but that got overwhelming after awhile. The extra star on this rating is for excellent service. The server and bus boy always came by to make sure that we have what we need. The sesame chicken came and it was good. The dipping sauce for it was yummy. This is the most highly reviewed sushi restaurant in Granada Hills and it's good enough for a quick meal.

This is a beautiful place where I had an unbelievably beautiful experience with my date. Memorable beyond believe. A full variety of different sushi’s, sashimi’s and interesting roles. I will be back for more.

So..on a whim my friend and I ended up here on Devonshire and balboa. I saw that there were 1800 + reviews and it had basically a 5 star rating, now there were some complainers and I read through their reviews but the complaints were about things like, the wait, the "customer service" or waiting too long to get refills on a drink...none of the complaints were about the sushi...why? because the sushi is fantastic! Im sure if i really thought about it I could make up something to be "upset about" but I went there for the sushi and I was not disappointed. There was a wait...no doubt but I loved my meal and I will be back again soon. I highly reccomend Asahi, its fresh and tasty!
Decent but not Perfect Sushi Experience for Vegetarians
We had a decent sushi experience for us vegetarians and a bonus friend one Friday night here at Asahi Sushi. It was our first time there, after ordering once or twice through a delivery service. The place was packed and we had to wait about a half on hour to be seated. It was cold outside (I mean for Californians...) and they were nice enough to have space heaters for people to stand under. We were seated well into the restaurant near the back...Probably just me but I much prefer to be seated deeper into a restaurant rather than close to the door. Not sure why. :/ We shared veggie rolls, Agadashi Tofu and tempura. It was supposed to be just vegetable tempura but, I guess, a communication issue with our server brought us a plate with shrimp tempura as well...so that was a bit of a bummer. Service was a little slow and we had to remind our server of things before we finally get what we had ordered. The veggie roll was basic but good. The agadashi tofu was really good with a nice and light crispy coating without the tofu being over cooked. (Soft and silky on the inside.) We also enjoyed the tempura that wasn't shrimp. I wouldn't say this was a phenomenal experience in terms of food or service, but it was good enough that we'd go back sometime.
