One of the BEST sushi places in town!

By Jenna H |

If you love eating LOTS of great sushi, this is your place. It is a small restaurant but they always manage to find you a table. Their sushi is to die for and it is relatively inexpensive for its amazing quality.

Excellent Food but

By Gerirun |

We come here a lot since my daughter loves the place I am not crazy about Japanese food but the food here is very good At first look it would look like not an appealing place it is a little bit dark however the food is excellent the menu is extensive and usually the service is acceptable. If you look for simple good food this is the place

Tremendous experience

By Frankie jones |

We sat at sushi bar late afternoon and had very gracious server and watched 4 men work behind sushi bar, what great art!!! We had miso soup and scallop and shrimp dinner with teriyaki sauce on side. Perfect meal. Aventura should be proud of this icon !!!!

Great Sushi Spot

By Michael R |

Went to dinner with my wife and very knowledgeable 7 year old grand daughter. The restaurant had every request we made, the fish was fresh, atmosphere was pleasant and i would recommend it to anyone. Family or with friends, business etc. all was very positive.

Sushi for All ....

By Dmelul |

Food taste is amazingly good, Food presentation is nice although who cares, Service is friendly- courteous and speaks English, Decoration is classical of these venues. Lunch boxes during weekdays are nice and with competitive prices... Suggestion to try the Spicy Tuna sandwich, Spicy Salmon sandwich and the caterpillar roll

best sushi in south florida

By PALMTREE7492 |

It is really the best I have had down here. Excellent quality, they do special orders of anything you want and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend it!

By Татьяна К |

Fresh fish, best sushi, not a beautiful inside, terrible service, but good prices. If you like quality food, you should to try there

Best sushi ever!

By James K |

I live in Aventura, and I can honestly say that you will have to look very far and long before you will find sushi as fresh and delicious as Asaka's. I love it so much that my wife and I bring it in every Friday night as an in home date night. The only problem is that it is hard for me to eat at other sushi restaurants now, as they always fall short of Asaka. If you are going for lunch, they have some great lunch specials. Try the Sushi Sashimi combo! Lots of fresh fish!

Traditional place for locals!

By samevemo |

I've been going to Asaka for 13 years and recently it has been highly populated with locals. I'm glad to see they have more business which ensures they will stay open. As time goes by the increase their prices but stay within the moderate price range for sushi in the area. They charge for to-go sauces which is undesirable, but will serve you whatever you'd like while dining in.

Good choice for sushi

By Mike W |

My wife's sushi was very good but the soup was a little bland. My fried rice was very good the hot sauce really spiced it up. Ate for a little over $30. Worth the price. The server was very nice as well.

SMELLS BAD, food ok

By Jacques R |

Seams as if there was a flood years back and they never completely dried the place. It smells rancid! Sushi is acceptable, but take out! Do not eat there... I do not eat there any more as I am worried the place has "bad" mould and could be affecting the food I eat! Plenty of other Sushi rest's out there!

Very good sushi at affordable prices

By ForeignObserver2 |

I have been going to Asaka for a couple of years now but this is my first review. The sushi/sashimi is always very fresh and tasty. The sushi rice has the right consistency, temperature and vinegar acidity. This sounds pedantic, but if one of these parts is wrong then the sushi just does not taste good. Here, actual Japanese chefs are at work which is a quality sign as it takes many years to become a sushi chef in Japan. Apart from the A La Carte Menu there are also great lunch and dinner specials in Bento Boxes. The Sushi/Sashimi Boat for 2 is excellent value and highly recommended. The service can be erratic during lunch when it is very busy but usually is very good and attentive.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in South Florida!

By Judge Marc M |

Whether you like sushi or traditional cuisine, Asaka hits the ball out of the park on both. With a lengthy menu of traditional Osakan favorites, this 4-star chef provides many delectable items at reasonable prices! We had sake, sushi, fried jumbo oysters in a special sauce, grilled jumbo octopus, deep fried banana dessert, an elegant green tea. Service great, no service charge automatically added in, and free ample parking out front. A don’t miss experience!

Love Asaka !!!!

By Dina L |

When I lived around I use to come there once or twice a week, love the food ( it's always fresh) and I love the people that work there !!!!! Every one is very polite, the food is delicious and the value is reasonable.

Good choice for sushi in Miami

By 232albelev |

I loved their sushi. They have eel and make it very well. They do not have shimeji, but it is seldom at the menus of restaurants out of Brazil, where sushi is superb. The attention is nothing special, but there are some good waiters. It is american style cold attention. There are some dishes that are too expensive (Toro, Eel, sushi a la carte)

Good meal

By oreosmom21 |

Had a very nice dinner. The box meal is good and more than enough to eat. Has soup or salad California roll and two items. Took some home. The sedvice was good and friendly. Will definitely go again.

Good food, bad service..!!!

By Michael C |

Restaurant is well located in a strip Mall in Aventura, with easy parking location. The food was good, tasted well and of good quality. The place is a bit outdated, and not cozy. The review went down due to the service, a grumpy face while attending and no one at the entrance gives you a bad feeling.

Best sushi

By Sophie M |

I have been going here since I was a kid and have never found a sushi place better than this. Spicy tuna sandwich, OJ roll, Ogi Roll, and caterpillar roll are my favorites. Love this place!

Good sushi Good prices

By Cricrimi83 |

It's the perfect sushi's place close to your house! A very good variety of sushi and also the kitchen is always delicious. I would suggest just a little renovation to improve the place and it can become the best sushi in Miami area!

Dinner

By Sanmartin_a22 |

Been coming here since my kids were 1 and 2.. they remember you like family and the sushi always tastes fresh. When we are this side of town its our fav spot for dinner...

Good Sushi, nice people and good service

By Richard A |

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and enjoyed ourselves very much. We had the Bento Box, a Caterpillar Roll and a Spicy Tuna Sandwich Roll. Everything was very good and we will definitely be going back.

Good sushi

By Benjamin F |

Good sushi in Miami. Not the best I had in my life, but still very good. I’d definitely go again. Service is ok.

Sushi for lunch

By Ssssssammm |

We had lunch here. The service and food was excellent. The decor was good however it was fairly dark where we sat. They did raise the blinds after we had finish our meal and it looked better.

Unexpectedly great

By tripopinonsw |

Indescript location in a mall, but quite cozy inside. Food was excellent. Quick service . Great Value. Seemed filled with locals who know this hidden gem.

Muy Bueno

By Shragaus |

Very nice place, Very good Service, great Sushis, good atmosphere Rice was cooked to perfection Excellent location A must in Aventura, Florida

Really Good

By Rafikihd |

The food is really good, the service is fast and really helpful, the restaurant location is amazing as well as the cleanness of the restaurant!

Fabulous

By Susan M |

This is my all time favorite Japanese restaurant They have the best fish and the rolls are excellent

Mediocre with horrible service

By CliveWatkins |

Food to me was just okay, nothing really special, but probably okay for most. What I found more distressing was how ambivalent and not in the moment our server was. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Not a smile, not a gesture that we had any importance in his life or the restaurants. I won't be back, if you don't care that I was there, you won't miss me.

4* Food, 3* service 1* decor and Odor!

By Jacques R |

Have been avoiding this sushi rest for a long time... Did remember they have pretty good sushi... They still do!! Fresh, tasty, well prepared and ginger / wasabi were above average!!! So, for food, still impressed!!!!! Service, here they can improve... A notch below average and not very friendly... Decor, cleanliness and smell AWFUL!!! Still smells odd, like mold on carpets... Will probably come back for take out... But will avoid eating there! Enjoy

Good as always

By kapriz |

I have been going there for years and have never been disappointed. Well priced and fish is always fresh and good quality. One of my favorite local places.

Fresh, clean tasting sushi

By ABurst |

Asaka is a gem hidden in a small, unsuspecting property in Aventura. Their sushi is really good. Fish tastes fresh, even though most sushi fish are FROZEN, in case you didn’t know. Spicy Tuna Sandwich roll and Tropic roll recommended.

Great Sushi at an affordable price

By Joaquin B |

Great sushi place with a wide variety of options for you to choose. I don't normally like long menus because usually the quality is not the same throughout but from my experience, you can't go wrong with any plate. They have everything you could want and more, from good combos to very good, high quality options like Toro, Scallions, Sea Urchin, among other options. Best part is that it has very affordable prices. I really love this place

A little bit of Japan in North Miami

By Joe C |

Consistently good over a number of years. Great food and service at affordable prices. If you are in the area, do not miss the opportunity of experiencing this great restaurant.

Great food every time

By sailsup3 |

My wife and I dine here often. My vegan bride makes up her own order and each and every time she raves about it. I on the other hand enjoy their tempura. Just the best. Fresh, and most enjoyable.

Good value for money amazing rolls

By QuixotePanza |

From outside it seems another japanese restaurant, but onec inside you realize that is far better than expected, especially if you like rolls. Miso soup also a thing to order. Great value for money.

Average

By Carlitos C |

There's a few reasons why I rated this restaurant 3 stars and not more. I'll start with what I liked about the restaurant, the miso Soup was good and not too salty . The tuna Tataki had a sauce that was too heavy in the vinegar but I dipped it into the ginger dressing from my salad and it was amazing. Shrimp shumai was good as expected and the dragon roll was excellent. We also had cheesecake tempura for dessert and it was delicious. There was a few things that I didn't like about the restaurant. First off the asaka Ceviche was lacking flavor , the fish was overly firm and I had to send it back , I don't recommend it . The service was mediocre at best and more attention to detail is needed. The spider roll was just ok and as I stated earlier the tuna Tataki had too much of a vinegar flavor , Not worth $15. Another thing that was weird was that the amount of salmon in the salmon avocado salad which was $10 was more than if you would have ordered 5 pieces of sashimi which would have been $10. Overall an ok experience, but I will give it another try and explore more rolls next time .

The best

By michaellaaaaaaaa |

Asaka is the best Japanese restaurant I've ever bin to. The service is bad because everybody always goes there and it's packed. Once I had a 1 hour wait and when I sat down with my dad it took 45 minutes for the food to come . But I think it's worth it because once you get your food you will love and you will always want to eat in Asaka. I recommend getting the spicy salmon sandwich, which really isn't spicy and the spicy tuna nacho.

Delicious and fresh sushi

By Elton Sanders |

We opt for the sushi boat so we could have a mix of traditional sushis and sashimi. We didn't regret as they were very fresh and taste. For dessert there were few options but we decided for the mochi ice cream, which was very interesting. Worth going there!

In a strip mall but incredibly nice

By Thad H |

Authentic Sushi with some exceptionally tasty and outside of the box sushi rolls. The interior was very nice and the fact it was in a strip mall keeps the pretentious diners away...which I like. If you are in the area and you want some great sushi at an incredible value, especially in this region, then Asaka is the place. I didn't find it until my last night but if I had know it was there sooner I would have eaten there every night.

Good food

By LucianaFamily |

Very Nice quality food.at the beginning the carpet is not a good restaurant choice, but the food is very good and also the service.

Amazing sushi

By donata70 |

Really one of the best sushi I’ve ever had! The sushi boat is amazing and also appetizers! I will try it soon again for sure

Dissapointment is the name of this place.

By Alesiviero |

Sooooooo disappointed. After a 50 minutes drive to finally eat Shabu Shabu here in FL I was completely disappointed not only with the food but also the service. My husband and I have tried Shabu Shabu not only in USA but also in Asia and we never been so disappointed! First of all they charge $45 dollars for 2 people to eat what they called their "Shabu Shabu". We asked the waiter if the meat would be enough for two as they do not have any picture nor meat weight in the menu. He said: "Oh yes, plenty of meat". REALLY? When the food came, the plate with the meat was a dessert size plate with more like a "carpaccio style" meat that would only be enough for 1 person who does not eat much. So we talked to the waiter and also the manager to complain about the amout of food. They both said the same. It is the owner's order to be like that. End of conversation. Come on. With $45 dollars I can go to a "all you can" eat Brazilian Steak house or even to an American Steak house and have a good size of the best steak in the market! We left the restaurant feeling not only ripped off but very dissapointed with the place, the food, the service and the way they try to trick you not adding enough information on their menu. NEVER MORE. I do NOT recommend this place at all.

The best japanese food i have tasted in years

By Opa27 |

The food is amazing I have never tasted japanese food as good as this one in a LONG time, the atmosphere is quiet and familiar, i really recomend this place and i will come here over and over again

Well kept secret

By Juan Carlos M |

Very fresh sushi and sashimi, great daily specials including toro, aji and some very fresh delicacies. The lunch specials are great value.

Lunch

By oburns |

If you like sushi, this is a great restaurant in Aventura. Their lunch boxes are super good. I have tried almost all of them and I have not been disappointed. We usually sit either by the bar or at the sushi bar.. Love to see them making the sushi. The chefs are super clean.

Fresh sushi

By lilybleu6 |

Freshly prepared sushi every time. We go there often. Best sushi in Aventura. Wide menu of Japanese dishes.

Excellent Authentic Japanese Restaurant

By Jc Y |

I sat at the bar and had a chance to see the chefs do their magic. Awesome lesson and food too. Nothing comes close in South Florida. I hope they open another location closer to my house.

My Favorite Sushi Place

By Miguel Z |

This is a great place to go for sushi. Employees are always smiling and are happy to help you with any special requests. Food always fresh and delicious!

AAA+ sushi and rolls

By Francisco P |

One of my favorite sushi/rolls places in the world. Staff is very very kind. The samurais (😆) at the bar are fast and make even the simplest of rolls excellent.

GoTo Sushi Place

By MichaelP635 |

This has been my go to sushi place since moving to Miami about a year ago. We usually eat here once a week if not twice a week. Food is consistent and service is great

Everyone loves Asaka!

By samevemo |

My family has been coming here for over 15 years and we're never disappointed with the service or quality of food. It's a great place for anyone to enjoy sushi!

Good Sushi and Authentic Japanaese dishes

By Mariano S |

This is authentic japanese and the waitress was kind enough to give me a bit of a Japanese lesson while ordering. The sushi was good quality but I recommend trying some of their hot dishes as well such as the Sea Bass Teriyaki. As far as I can tell, they don't blend Thai and other Asian dishes in their menu. In short, good value and hardly ever a wait in the evenings for parties of 2-4.

Great sushi! Awful smell and light!!

By Jacques R |

Management, do you want to be the beat sushi in North Miami??? Aventura?? It is quite simple... Just change the carpet, put some nice ceramic or wood on the floor, then when the sun is not hitting direct on the windows, open the shades!!! Let some light come inside... Your place is VERY dark! These two tips will make this place MUCH better... I have friends who eat a lot of sushi like me that will not come with me to this place.... Fix this pungent smell you have and get some light inside.... Trust me you will have more business than you already do now!!! As for food... It is probably the best sushi in North Miami!! Well made, fresh fish, fresh rice... Service is ok, could improve some. The ice tea is also quite good... They have some lunch menu's for weekdays which are very well priced... Enjoy

PLEASE DO NOT GO!

By PickyTravelerFromNY |

Sorry to have to write a horrendous review but this place deserves it and we want to spare others of this experience. I ordered takeout and when I picked it up, I learned that they had charged me on my credit card, although they claimed not to accept that particular card. They had processed it and claimed they would void the charge and asked for another credit card. I asked why did you process a type of card you do not accept instead of asking for a different card and making me have to monitor charges to make sure I am not charged twice. There was no itemized invoice and they could not produce one upon request So I am not sure charges are correct on large order. I took the sushi home and all five family members one by one said how terrible it was and threw it out. Each family member, all of which ordered different things, claimed it was not fresh and had an after-taste. When we called the restaurant to express that the food was not edible and request an exchange or return they were unwilling to hear about this or make any accommodation. Sign of a badly managed business. They gave us the run-around and asked us to call back tomorrow. They simply did not stand by their product or produced an honorable solution. We eat sushi all the time and I have to say this is the worst I have ever had, and this includes cheap supermarket sushi! Do yourself a favor and skip this place!

Even Better Than Before

By Gail |

We had been pretty regular customers until a few months ago when for some strange reason this restaurant developed a strange musty moldy odor. So much that we stopped going there even though we liked their food. We were pleasantly surprised when we decided to give it another try last night that whatever was plaguing this place had been resolved. No off odors. As a matter of fact the service and food were much improved. The salad and dinner portions were somewhat larger than before and really good. The salads were well chilled and dressing comes in a separate pitcher so everyone can put exactly how much ginger dressing they like on their greens. The pork tonkatsu was plump, fresh, cooked to perfection and not greasy at all. Their miso soup is still the best in town, full flavored and not a bit salty. We really dislike overly salted foods. The sushi roll was modestly sized, but also modestly priced. Just the right size along with soup and salad for my appetite last night. This Saturday night brought out lots of young families, senior citizens and groups of teenagers so it was pretty noisy, but if you are not looking for a quiet, intimate setting, this is a place to go.

Great food

By khandilyan |

The menu is extensive, to the point that is hard to choose. But all food is great! Stuff is doing their best to keep up. Definitely try!

Ridiculous, rip off!!!

By BrazilianBear |

Ridiculous, stay away! We came to Asaka for their Shabu-Shabu, which I had many times in the US and Japan. It is a bit pricey at $45 at Asaka (the highest I have ever paid) but it is typically really good and well served, so we gave it a try. What a disappointment!!! The portion size for 2 is absolutely RIDICULOUS. It would not feed a small kid. See pictures. It is almost a desert size plate with 100grams at the most of meet. We complained and even showed pictures of other places. The manager said that is the way the owner serves it. Awful experience!!! Felt rip off! Now I know why they don't disclose the weight of the meat in the menu like is typically done. Never again! STAY OUT!!! Bad service too.

Outstanding

By piazzacraig |

WE have been there 3 times in the last 6 weeks with various friends, including with friends of ours that are from Japan. They said that they felt like they were back in Japan eating. The sushi is beyond fresh, the food is amazing, the staff is friendly and very accommodating. The owner, who is also the chef, will come out and speak with you and we'll prepare whatever you like or make suggestions for you. My wife and I are no longer able to eat im any other sushi restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like sushi and Japanese food

Never Have A Problem Always Amazing!!!!!!!

By U6125VAdavidb |

Read the title and you'll see that's all you need to know its great you can never ever go wrong!!!!!!!!!!

We expected more.

By Mich F |

We heard many people saying this is a great place for Sushi in Aventura. But it turned to be not as good...Quality is no better than Ginza's a place we love to go in NMB because it is all you can eat sushi and sashimi. It can get quite expensive and honestly I don't see any point if of course you love to eat ssshi like there's no tomorrow. Overhyped and overpriced place.

Ok

By nabeab |

This is my least favorite sushi place. The ginger dressing for the salad is too liquid. Bad taste. Service ok. Salty food, will not come back soon for sure

Average Sushi

By 286carloso |

Place has average sushi.. prices are not bad... place is not the cleaneast.... service is good... overall the restaurant is not the best or the worst I have ever had. Ok for a mon-fri lunch...

average sushi, in an average location

By Roland2908 |

food was fine but more average than exceptional. We ordered the sushi boat but were disapointed in the sushi selection, too many nigeris. Ok meal with the family but would probably not return

Food is great, can't say the same for service

By cseijas84 |

This could be an excellent sushi place. The food is excellent, everything you order is just great. But the service is just awful, waiters seem kind of mad, they disappear for 20 minutes and you have no one to order your food. I would really recommend this place for take out.

Great food

By Happycamper44_12 |

My family have been going there since they open in 1994. Always good food and service. We are locals and they have been consistently a great place for sushi and I love there stir fry and grill box menu.

One of the Best Japanese Restaurants in Miami

By Andrew Bloch |

Great restaurant. Extensive menu. Tuna Moshi is exceptional. Surroundings are nothing special, but the food more than makes up for it.

Surprisingly awesome for strip mall

By FamilyTravellerMI |

I selected Asaka for its location, not curb appeal. The interior ambiance was fine, but nothing special. Service was exceptional, the food delicious, and price perfect. I had the reasonably priced lunch box special which included soup, salad, California roll and another choice which for me was shrimp tempura. $9.50 was a very reasonable price. I'll be back.

Excellent sushi!!

By jramirezy |

Great restaurant, best sushi in town with a nice sushi bar!! Good service and great deal. Don't miss the Spicy Tuna Sandwich and Pacific Roll. Great green tee ice cream.

Great Sushi

By Willa F |

I really enjoyed the sushi. The bagel sushi was a new one for me because they deep fried it. Really interesting options.

Best sushi in North Miami

By Jacques R |

Well, Asaka has become one of the best sushi restaurants in North Miami / Aventura by far! They still need to remodel the place even though they did improve the odor of the old carpet they had! So, having that said, I will give Asaka 4.3/5. Today we ordered takeout and had my usual Chirashi that they make very well!!! Very good cuts of fish and VERY fresh!! Well they are fully packed most of the time, so fish is definitely fresh. My wife has her usual caterpillar roll with very little rice, and when I say very little, look at the pics!!! It is a work of art. Also the Uzusukuri is perfectly cut…. Wasabi and ginger are of the “good” ones as well as the chopsticks… the good quality disposable ones. All in all, I fully recommend this place and will keep coming at least 6 times a month… cheers
