wood oven pizza worth trying. sometime its GREAT, sometimes its not cocked through. (wood oven), but worth trying

It took way too long for our food. The crab and shrimp Mac and cheese, cheese steak, mozzarella triangles and burger were a hit as judged by the empty plates. Drinks were never empty but our waitress seemed to be working all three zones at once. Restaurant, bar and patio

Haven't been there for awhile. Food is just as good and there are specials every night. But now they have an outside seating area and an outside bar. Really cute. Our waitress was especially helpful with advise on what to order. They have a hostess who has been there a very long time. She is the most welcoming and friendly hostess I've ever met. I have been talking this little gem of a restaurant up to my friends and will be back before the summer is over.

Ordered a Cesear salad got a bowl of Lettuce, nothing else... WTH $9.00$$ no shaved parmesan, not one croton.

Didn't get to eat as I only came for drinks, but awesome music, great crowd and a great vibe. Food looked awesome. Friendly crowd and awesome staff.

Went for a 40th HS reunion. The food (Roast beef sandwiches, chicken wrap and baked ziti) were very good. My issue is with the cash bar. Ordered the wife a white zinfandel and charged 6 bucks. I think for this place that was a little steep. next time I give the guy a 20 and get 13 back. I say did the price go up? He tries to give me a dollar back from the tip jar. Obviously he did not notice I was not drinking their overpriced drinks. I guess he thought I could not count. I would not have a cash bar at this ripoff. Go downstairs and pay the same price....or just avoid altogether. My wife and I read the reviews before going and all looked good. She suggested going there with Mom because she lives relatively close. But after experiencing the bartenders trying to rip me off I will never go back there again, high school reunion or otherwise...…...count your change!

My husband and I had a delicious lunch at this NE neighborhood eatery. There were many lunch specials at reasonable prices. I tried the daily special of Meatball Parm Sandwich and my husband had a Phoenix hamburger both very good. They are famous for their brick-oven pizza and we'll be returning to try one of these. Entrees are served after 4 and they have a nice selection also reasonably priced. Service was quick and very friendly.

I've driven by this place a number of times but never stopped until recently. I'm glad I did. My co-worker said the restaurant went through a renovation in the recent past this expanding the bar and eating area. There was sample seating, a nice big bar and tv's around the bar area. The staff were quick to serve, friendly and took care of us through the entire meal. They offer a nice size menu from sandwiches to pizza and larger entrees. They're wraps, and sandwiches were very good and not too heavy on the sauces. I'd certainly stop in for a quick bite. I'll be back again to try them out for dinner!

Recently held a private party in the upstairs room of the Ashburner Inn. The room is nice and was set up exactly the way I requested. The food was very good and the servers and bartender were very friendly and yet very professional. Was disappointed with the DJ provided (not the DJ I requested). The DJ's music was exceptable but he had no personality and did not provide any interaction with the guests. Overall, I definitely would book another party if the occasion presented itself.

We were looking for a place to grab some dinner in Northeast Philly and stumbled across the Ashburner Inn. We figured we'd get a sandwich or some appetizers, typical bar stuff. When we arrived, we were greeted by a really nice dining room. It was bright, cheery and very clean. As we walked to our table, we noticed nearly everyone was eating pizza. When our waitress told us that it was half price pizza night, we understood why. The brick-oven baked pizzas on the surrounding tables looked good and the price was certainly right! So, we ordered 2 pies. The pizzas were delicious. They were some of the best I've had in a long time. The crust was light and crispy and the variety of topping choice was great. Besides some of the basics like pepperoni, sausage, etc., they also have pizzas with prosciutto and roasted peppers, chicken and blue cheese, buffalo chicken, spinach and roast pork and others. We particularly like the Ashburner which had spinach, roasted red peppers, shredded mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto. I’m sure the Ashburner Inn has other good food, but I will be back again for the pizza!

I came here for paint nite event. This a very nice big place. This was my first time at Ashburner Inn. My friends and I ordered the crab nachos & the buffalo nachos. It was so delicious. The drinks were also made very well and tasted excellent. I would recommend this place and I see myself coming back.

Just want to say that I have not been to many places in NE Philly recently but was so impressed with the AShburner Inn. I atttended a family event arranged by my brother and his family for my nephew's 21st birthday. Easy access for some of our elder relatives, great food, an attentive bartender, friendly service staff, absolutley spotless restrooms and what impressed me most was that one of the owner's ( Jim) made it a point to come upstairs and see that everything was to my brother's liking. You just do not get that kind of attention anymore. Thank you for a great event

The Ashburner is our go to for great martinis and bar food(pear martinis are the best). They have great pizza and I just tried their delicious tomato pie. All of the appetizers are amazing and they always have specials. They regularly have live music as well. I usually look on their facebook page to see what is going on for the evening. The reason I only gave it four stars is because one night they were so busy the waitress never came to our table so we left. Also, it can be loud when they have music or a DJ.

My husband and I had lunch....it was very nice....we had pizza and a couple drinks and fried string beans appetizer....who would have thought of that? They were very good....pizza was excellent....and our server Sarah was very nice and accommodating.....the place was cozy but not dark and quiet....we will def be back....

My husband and I went to the Ashburner Inn with friends. We hadn't been there in a while even though it is a local restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. I had the pork sandwich and I can honestly say it was the best pork sandwich I have ever had. My husband had the scallop special and he was equally pleased. We will definitely return. The only drawback is the noise level. It can be hard to carry on a conversation.

Ashburner was great and we did have good service from our waitress but the place is just too small for the amount of people that were in the place. The bar was packed and the line to get in was around the block.

We have been to the Ashburner Inn 3 times with the last 9 months going each time for the live Irish music on designated Sundays at 4pm. It's got such a great atmosphere and the food is pretty good too. We have gone both with our kids and without them and have had a great time each visit. My kids really love the pizza they serve there. Another favorite we had was the shareable Bavarian pretzel (which apparently was a special item and not permanently on the menu), and most recently, the shrimp and crab mac & cheese. During one of the visits we tried the crab cakes appetizer and we did not love them. They were ok but not as good as others we have had elsewhere. Service has been great both at tables and sitting at the bar. Even in an online interaction to reserve a table, I had a really great experience with quick response time and a very friendly employee. It's a special treat for me to go out to the Ashburner and I can't wait for the next time!

Place looks nice from outside. Bustling bar scene. But when it came to caliber it did not hold up. The food quality was poor for the price. Drinks were weak. Staff was cleaning up our dinner before everyone was even finished. They hurried us to completion.

Absolutely love this place. Friendly bartenders and wait staff. Food is excellent. I always feel at home here. Highly recommend.

Another place in the neighborhood we've been planning to hit for years and finally decide to go. Started off with Mozzarella Wedges and when we got them...holy crap. These things were HUGE. That could have been dinner just with them. Got a brick oven pepperoni pie which was really good and she had the Chicken Caesar salad. Prices were reasonable considering you got a LOT of food for your money. Definitely going back and it was Irish music night which I enjoy so a bonus there.

went here on a tues night for dinner everything we ordered was very good and the prices were average the beer was ice cold and our waitress kept them filled. there was some live music as well which was very nice!

We frequent the Ashburner Inn on a regular basis. Food, service, and live music is always the best. Try the brick oven pizza. They have a great variety. Our favorite is the Black and Blue.

Had a great time at the ashburner Inn. Got to listen to live music had great food excellent service and I even got to watch hockey game I will be here again and again and again

The wife and I have been here many times, usually when the Paul Moore Band was there. The meals have always been above par. Their appetizers are in a class by themselves. The Fried Mozzarella and Cheese Steak Spring Rolls have to be tasted to be truly appreciated. The staff have always been attentive even though we are not regulars.

Our first time....What a great spot! The crab dip is excellent and we really recommend the French onion burger! Get it with the fries… Worth it! Totally delicious! Service was great & everyone is so friendly!! We will be back!!!

3.17.18 Stopped in during the Villanova Game to see one of my high school friends who is cousin of Jay Wright there celebrating St Patrick’s Day. The bar was crowded and everyone was in good spirits. For a corner Philly Bar this is a big place with lots of capacity to watch sports. Give it a go just be aware these are mostly locals so be on your best behavior as this can be a tough crowd if you are not considered to be respectful of Philly traditions...... the Doctor Hit me with some LOVE ❤️💕 and a helpful VOTE!

We were told our IDs are invalid and damaged and they refused to check the scanner. Our IDs are definitely not damaged. The manager refused to check the scanner because it was “rebooted last week” and told us their is nothing he can do. The server told us we could show a picture of an old ID or passport and we did but the manager said he is not allowed to accept that. Even though we were just told we were allowed. Unnecessary and confrontational is the only way to describe their customer service.

The menu is limited for dinner, but the food was good. Love to go there on a saturday nite for food, appetizers and drink - DJ is great to dance to.
Owerns Don't Care About It's Patrons
I was there on St. Patrick's, there were over 30 of us that go there yearly, they made us pay a $10 cover (which the guy at the front told us was for the buffet). A lot of us only wanted Shepherds Pie.... we didn't get there till 5 (the buffet started at 12) and they didn't have any left, only a beef stew that looked terrible and ham/cabbage (also yuck). We asked if they would be putting more out, NO, so a few of us stated we only came for the Sheppard's Pie. They called one of the owners over (female) who was VERY rude and told me "Oh Well", She had no interest in accommodating us. All we wanted was our $10 returned so we could order something off the menu (Which was more expensive than $10). And between the 30 some of use we only asked for 2 admissions returned. And we all were spending a boat load of money there on booze in the 1st place. I really am annoyed w/ this bar, we have given it so much business over the years, including renting the room upstairs numerous times. At this point I will NEVER patronize this bar again, and the other people in my group also are annoyed and will likely never go there again. I NEVER write bad reviews, but this time I was really ticked off. So wanted everyone to know that the owners really don't care about their customers, so why should we care about them.
