For an all you can eat Chinese Buffett , this is as good as it gets. We have been to Chinese Buffetts in several states ( hubby loves sushi), and this was fantastic. Great service, clean tables, and delicious food.

Large selection of Chinese, sushi, soups and desserts. The Mongolian BBQ selections are adequate too. Nice décor and friendly staff. We've been here several times and plan to return. We live in the area and Asian Star has become our "go-to" place for oriental food.

Varied selection, fresh, hot, friendly service. Discounts for USAA and Realtors. Great seafood soup, sushi options, well cooked crab, Mongolian grill. BEST in town and drive clear across to come here. Family favorite.

Service was good. We found a handful of things we loved and they were really good! Lots of space in dining areas and food was always coming out. Good price too

Me and my partner wanted Mexican Food for dinner but decided to try Asian Star which was right next door..... BIG MISTAKE!! Don't be fooled by the glitz and glamour of the appearance of the restaurant because the food on the buffet is cold, old, and terrible. I decided to make my own plate at the mangolian grill and I was greeted by a "Hispanic guy" chewing food behind the counter. My and my boyfriend decided we are wasting 30 dollars for crap food. I'm serious! This place is terrible.

Nice Mongolian hibachi area. All other items were your regular run of the mill Chinese buffet items. Nice place for dinner when you are tired and been driving for 8 hours, but nothing special. We decided to try it because reviewers on Trip Advisor rated it THIRD of 153 restaurants in San Antonio!

Good food, good service for a buffet. The workers were very nice and attentive. Walking distance to the hotel I stayed in, only problem the heat kept us from walking. I knocked off a star for the price. Even though it was reasonable, I was hoping to pay a tad bit less. Family of four was about $54.00. However, I would defiantly go back. I came right at the changeover from lunch to dinner. They have Sushi and also a Mongolian grill for people who want more than just buffet food. Atmosphere was great. Restaurant was clean.

Asian Star has a large amount of choices on the regular buffet; a Sushi buffet; and a Mongolian Grill. Generally speaking, there is something for everyone. The salad bar is also worth a visit. Great place for a fast lunch.

This used to be China Sea years ago, which was one of our go to places whenever we were in San Antonio. Many Chinese buffets have been disappointing, so when we finally decided to try Asian Star, we were hopeful it would at least be decent. Glad we tried it! Food and service was great! Lots of seafood, and everything was well stocked and hot! I even saw them replacing some of the food that had been sitting out with fresh food, instead of just adding to it like many places do. They seemed to take pride in their establishment, checking frequently on all the food. They also have a grill area, which is only open during dinner according to the sign. They have steak and some pork which you can select, along with a variety of fresh vegetables which you then give to the chef and he grills it right there. This was the reason for dropping one star, as the meat is placed out. I’m sure it is fine, but seems like a different approach would be more appealing. I did have a steak cooked, and it was good. Not on the level of the rest of the food though, at least according to my taste. The staff was very attentive, and we never waited for drink refills or to have our table cleared. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be going back!

Very good food for a buffet with a small but nice selection of Non-Asian foods as well. The grill was impressive but took me a couple of tries to get it right since you mix your own ingredients and sauces. Well stocked during all my visits which have been both at lunch time and later in the evening. The wait staff is very attentive as well and clear your dishes quickly and keep your drink refilled. It's family friendly and spacious. Only thing not to like is the desserts but I've never found an Asian buffet with good desserts.

Took 4-star rating as a recommendation, so gave it a try. Some of the foods were cold and not tasty; ribs and chicken were dried and and overcooked. Salad bar was fresh and had a good variety. Sushi bar looked good, but I didn’t try it. The hot and sour soup was the best choice, along with cooked mushrooms. Most fried items were not crisp. Probably wouldn’t go back.

It's a great place to bring the hungry family. I was amazed by the buffet quality and various types of food they have. Belive me that it has everything for everyone

Quality vs buffet spread is superb. When there have brunch with friend. Restaurant is clean and nice. Wide spread food on the buffet table

Saw this restaurant advertised on TV in Hotel. It is a new restaurant so decided to check out. Glad we did. This restaurant is set off the freeway so tricky to find. It consists of several buffets. They have Chinese, salad bar, with peel and eat shrimp, sushi bar, dessert bar and Thai bar where they will cook noodles to order. The food was excellent. I had ice tea and daughter had water. Our bill...$21 for lunch. Thought they made a mistake. In the evening more money but they also have steak. I highly recommend this place.

Very Good Service, Good Food. Short wait to be seated. Good salad. Good Hot & Sour soup. Good Tea. Lots of large juicy lemons available. Liked the sesame Chicken and General's chicken. Dissapointed in the brocalli chicken and brocalli beef. Tried one rib, not bad. There was tons of food. Nothing ran out.

After a very early start to the morning and a really bad breakfast, we found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. What a great buffet! There was something for everyone and the service was great. Also had sushi and Mongolian BBQ. Be sure to go to the chocolate fountain for dessert! Fed our group for less than $75!

Great food and great service! So many options! I didn't get to try the Mongolian side but will go back to try it out.

We've been here twice and really like it :) Love that they have steady supply of hot crab legs on the weekend...and their quality was awesome! Both times we have gone, all of the food seemed very fresh and tasty. The sushi bar is also better than most I have seen at buffets. My husband is a foodie and super picky, and even he now requests this place. Also, every one that works there seems super friendly and helpful..which is a huge plus.

As expected there was so much to choose from, and it was all being brought out regularly and made fresh. We went for the lunch price and it's very reasonable. My favorite was the chocolate fountain (not Asian, but so delicious). Definitely make a round of all the buffets first because there's good stuff on each one. Sushi all the way to the back, take a couple bucks with you. Our party also really enjoyed the Mongolian Grill option. We'll definitely be back for another visit!

I eat here all the time for lunch. Good selection to choose from and always fresh. Staff is very friendly and easy to get in and out during lunch rush. Buffet with drink runs around $11.00

Asian Star is an large elaborate Chinese Buffet with an extensive assortment of chinese foods with a Mongolian grill, Sushi bar, snow crab legs, and a dessert bar! NOTE: check for online coupons, owner puts out monthly coupons!

Asian Star was closed for awhile but re-opened several months ago. It is apparently the same as it used to be and I think under the same ownership. Everything on their extensive buffet is very good, Prices went up a little, but it depends on the day and time. The Senior buffet in the early afternoon is the cheapest, $7.95. I think the evening buffet for adults is $12.95, without drink, with the senior buffet at $11. We always drink water, but soft drinks are $1.99. However, if you are a big eater, you can easily eat that much just in shrimp alone. Everything you'd ever want in a Chinese restaurant, even including Mongolian BBQ for no extra. Very clean, food is always fresh.

The food was fresh and tasted wonderful. A lot of choices. Our beverages were refilled regularly. I would recommend Asian Star.

The quality of this buffet is great. The sushi bar has plenty to choose from, but the spicy tuna roll was my favorite! We went on the weekend so they had loads of seafood entrées including steamed crab legs, shrimp, fried scallops, clams, mussels, and salted fried crab. The Grill also had a good amount of ingredients to choose from. I did not eat from the salad bar, but it was very large. The dessert/fruit bar was fresh and good quality, plus they have a chocolate fountain by the soft serve machine! The soups were also very good. This is a great buffet that is worth the price for its variety and quality. We will definitely be back!

I've been to many Chinese buffets and this one was very good. Good service, very clean and well kept. Big selection here - Mongolian, sushi, salad bar that included peel-n-eat shrimp at lunch and lots of entrees. There were signs posted that crab legs were available on Sundays only. Saturday lunch buffet was $7.99. All beverages $1.99, which included sweet tea! I plan to return!

This is for me the best Asian buffet restaurant. It has everything for everyone. But beware. You can and certainly over eat if you don't control yourself

Boy, I really like good Chinese food, and when traveling I enjoy finding a good buffet, allowing choice and variety. Some of the items on this buffet were okay, but overall, my experience did not lead to the kind of glowing reviews this place has. I have eaten at literally hundreds of different Chinese buffets; this one is just typical and average, which can be an okay thing, since the price was also average.

Having read glowing reviews online, we decided to try the Asian Star for dinner, and we were delighted. There were too many great dishes for me to list them (see menu), but it's safe to say that the food quality, freshness, and friendly service (refreshing drinks, bring tools to crack the crab legs....) far exceeded that we've seen in other buffets. Considering the variety and quality of the food, the price is a real bargain.

Visited on Christmas Day. Place was busy, if you looked at the parking lot, but comfortable inside. Wasn't loud, crazy or difficult to maneuver the buffets. They constantly restocked and everything that was supposed to be hot was. If I lived in the area, would go back. Prices very reasonable too!

The staff was very nice. The place was clean. There was a wide selection of Asian themed foods as well as some American favorites. The food, unlike some Chinese buffets, was edible. I was charged $12.99 plus tax. Would I eat there again, yes. Did it blow my skirt up, no. I am giving it 4 stars because there was noting negative to report. I always reserve 5 stars for a rise to greatness.

this is a all you care to eat buffet eat till you pop, good food and very clean place to eat , easy parking also salad bar also.

We came on a Saturday night for dinner and it was busy but not too crowded. The food was hot and replenished frequently. A wide selection of sushi and seafood items as well as the usual chicken, beef, noodles, and rice. Overall a good pick!

They have reconfigured the buffet to be cafeteria style instead of serve yourself. The Crab rangoon was really good, and the rest of the food was ok. It was not vet spicy, not terribly flavorful. My wife thought the crab legs tasted like they had been frozen too long. Buffet price on Fri to Sun was 13.99. Drinks are 2.59. Kids are less (about 1/2 as I remember).

Very nice, very clean and very good. Plenty of room to seat our party of 12. Can wait to go back for Christmas.

Asian Star has a wonderful buffet. Food is always comforting and warm. Must try their fresh hibachi, always hits the spot. The restaurant also gives a 10% discount for USAA employees.

many people don't know that some buffets offer a to go option . This buffet restaurant offers "to go " by the pound for a very reasonable price ! the place is always very clean and the food options are amazing . I sometimes drop in and just go straight to the salad bar and make myself a wonderfully light lunch . I am in and out in minutes and it is so convenient ! the staff is also quite friendly . Today they saw me approaching and greeted me with a " to go " box and a smile . awesome !

My father and I have been on a quest to fine great Chinese food on the north side of San Antonio for almost a year. We have been disappointed many times and typically say we would not return. But Asian Star Super Buffet is one we both said it would be one we would go back to. If you like sushi, they had a long bar of it. Neither of us eat it, so we cannot comment on it other than it looked good and was being made as we were there so I would say it was fresh. The salad bar was extensive, everything from peel and eat shrimp, mussels on the half shell, octopus salad, imitation crad salad (it was so good my dad had a second helping after a huge first helping), seafood salad, and at least three types of spinich and/or lettuce with lots of toppings and all the condiments as well. Main food bars contained: stuffed mushrooms, stuffed shrimp, fried shrimp, sauted mushrooms, motzerella cheese sticke, spring rolls, egg rolls, flounder, wings, wontons, 4 types of soup, beef and broccoli, chicken and broccoli, garlic shrimp, bbq chicken on a stick, sesame chicken, house special chicken, and at least 4 other tradiational Chinese dished, There is a grill that will also prepare whatever you select. I am sure I have left out many of the things to eat as there were just too many making it very difficult to choose which to eat and which to skip. If you cannot find things here to eat you must not like Asian food. Oh yea, there was pizza and enchaladas too. Then there was a desert bar filled with fresh and canned fruits, puddings, strawberry glaze covered bananas, rasberry filled puffs, peanut brittle and I am sure I am forgetting some others. Plus there was an ice cream machine. I have to comment on the fried rice. If you have read any of my other posts you know I make my own and it is killer. Well their fried rice was pretty good. This is the best rating I have given to any fried rice other than my own. They offer senior citizen discount and coupons. Our two meals with a Pepsi was under $20.

Stopped in around 530 for dinner with grandkids. Very disappointing, had been coming on and off since opening. Was pretty good then went downhill. Tried again and was ok, it had been awhile so we stopped. Food was old, looked like leftover lunch. The sugar buns were dark brown and like rocks. Sat there the whole time we were there. Many chicken dishes dry and hard. Most dishes did not look appealing. The crab salad had an off flavor. Ridiculously the best thing on buffet was a baked ham and I don’t like ham. Spent a lot of money for little return. Time to find a new buffet.

We watched this restaurant "under renovation" for several months. It recently opened under new management and it is great! The price for all-you-can eat buffet is normally $8.99 per person, but with crab legs and oysters included it was $11.99 today (New Years Day). The choices were so numerous, and all that my husband I tried were delicious. My favorite was the coconut shrimp, a close second was the baked salmon which was very tender and tasty. I also enjoyed the BBQed chicken on a stick, fresh pineapple, veggie fried rice and lychee. So many choices, we will be back to try some of the others soon. We didn't even try the Mongolian BBQ or sushi yet. I normally am not a fan of buffets, but Asian Star broke out of the "buffet category" for me. What more can I say except "try it, I almost guarantee you'll like it!"

My spouse and I ate here Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised. We arrived at an "off hour", yet they kept fresh food coming. The price was a little bit high for a Chinese buffet, but the overall cleanliness and food quality was good.

You will not feel cramped here, restaurant has a large, airy atmosphere... as well as very clean. The sushi selection is larger than most and freshly prepared. The salad bar was well stocked with fresh veggies. I was however disappointed in the minimal selection of Chinese entrees through what was available was flavorful and fresh. The Mongolian food selection was very good and after making your selection and having it prepared as you watch is entertaining. The Mongolian food is one of the best features of this restaurant. The service is great with very friendly staff.

Went today for the first time. Clean, plenty of choices, perfect price. Great service and really good spot for a casual business lunch. Can't go wrong.

This was close to our hotel and appeared to be a newly opened place. It was a very good buffet. It had Sushi bar, Mongolian bar, salad bar, seafood, and dessert bar. It was very clean and staff very friendly.

First time here with my wife and we found Asian Star Super Buffet to be overall excellent. The food was tasty and at the right temperature. We were surprised to find that there was frog legs and scallops at the buffet which you do not often find at a buffet. The waitstaff was very efficient and attentive to our needs. Pleased to find that they give senior and military discounts. The only negative which prevented us from giving a 5 star rating was the chicken wings, which were hard and either over cooked or recooked. We will definitely return again and hopefully they will improve on the chicken wings. Overall an excellent Chinese buffet.

Started with one of the best California sushi roll and egg drop soup, followed by muscles and garlic green beans. The Rangoon was the best I've had. They even have tapioca pudding. Great price and great meal.

New to the area and craving Chinese food and sushi. Great service, nice clean buffet and food was awesome! We will be back 😄

I has hesitant to go eat here with my family after we were all starving from being in six flags all day. It turned out to be a great place! The staff were very attentive, the restaurant was clean and food organized, there was a great selection to choose from and the food tasted great!
Food is gross
Food was cold, had no flavor, and wad just bad. The best thing was the drinks. Got the Mongolian as well. Cook acted like he hated his job, when asked a question, he just turned his head Not a good experience
