The server spilled water on my wife at the start of the meal. She ate soaked. No compensation except for a cookbook! Our family was in the hospitality/restaurant business for many years and would never have treated a customer this way. Food fair. Would not recommend it.

This restaurant was close to our hotel and looked very nice as we walked by. We thought the atmosphere was great and the food was even better! I had the veal parmigiana which was fantastic, and my wife and son loved their meal also. We were very glad we stopped by!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Our server was wonderful, our party had a number of questions and some food allergies and our waiter was patient and well informed. The food arrived quickly and was as ordered. The food was so good, we savored every bite! I’d strongly recommend this restaurant and will visit again next time I’m on Seattle.

The place is crowded and on a Friday night, noisy as can be, but you'll know why when you get there. Menu has variety beyond standard Italian parmigiana/marsala/lasagna fare. Appetizers are made with fresh tomato and the burrata is perfectly milky. The night we were there, two large parties (15+) were dominating the place but the service was timely and respectful. A lot of places get overwhelmed by these big groups, but Assaggio handled it well. Owing to the consequent noise, etc. we bolted without dessert, so cannot comment on that. House wine-by-the-glass was average, but the wine list had some good names on it.

The service was truly outstanding. Our server was not only knowledgeable but also a lot of fun, and it seems like the entire staff shares the same enthusiasm for making guests laugh and feel welcomed. I'd give the service a perfect 10/10.

I have eaten at Assaggio many times over the years of visiting Seattle -- never disappointing; quite the contrary -- always excellent. Their appetizer of spinach with pine nuts is not to be missed!! Not inexpensive but worth every penny. That said, it can be crowded. Reservations are a must. If you are lucky, you can chat with the Mauro, the exuberant owner -- he's great.

Already making the pre to the BDay tomorrow we chose, obviously, an Italian for dinner. Perfect portion, on account, pasta without reproach. Great house wine. Normal price for the local, heart of Downtown.

Wonderful dinner. Delicious food with great service. The owners stop to visit and we received super hugs as we were leaving. DEFINITELY eat here.

Very nice meal. Had the veal parmigiana and my wife had the chicken parmigiana. Service was also very good. Try the Caesar Salad - it was excellent

Very nice food. Very expensive on alcohol. Cheapest bottle of wine is $56. Would come back for the food. Pretty place. Friendly staff and hostess.

I had a delicious pasta meal at the bar. Cappelacci - homemade pasta with prawns -was one of the best dishes I had all weekend in Seattle, and the fresh bread with the garlic infused oil just made the night better. I was grateful that they let me sit at the bar, but highly recommend reservations for this gem.

Assaggio is one of our favorite restaurants, and it had been a while since we'd been there. Our reserved table was ready and waiting for us, and the service was as outstanding as ever, with the owner, Mauro, greeting us at the door. We had water and fresh bread on the table before we had even settled in. Our server, Amy, greeted us quickly and had an excellent wine recommendation for us when I asked. My husband tried a Risotto special that we hadn't ordered before, and it might almost be my new favorite menu item (in good company with everything else I love there)! I ordered the braised short ribs in a red wine reduction sauce, and it is honestly one of the best foods I've had in a restaurant. Throughout the meal, our water and wine glasses were filled, our empty plates disappeared quickly, and Amy checked in a few times to be sure we didn't need anything. The Limoncello Tartufo is our favorite, and served with a cappuccino, a perfect way to finish a wonderful dinner.

Friends recommended this place to me as one of their family favorites. I was not disappointed. The food was prepared and presented with pride. I got to talk to Mauro, the owner, he is a great guy. Makes you feel very welcome.

Had a wonderful meal at this little gem. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Sat outside and had a wonderful evening.

Took our adult grandchildren to dinner to celebrate our grandson's graduation from college a few days earlier. We all had an outstanding meal the the server was such a great help in choosing the wine. She also helped us make up our minds between a couple of different choices. She was always spot on.

This Italian restaurant is average. The food was good and the waitress offered choices not on the menu which was great. Downsides are they are in a hurry to get you out as soon as possible. I saw mains delivered when others hadn't finshed their first courses and a waiter eating cisps and pasta behind the bar - very unprofessional. Felt rushed throughout - disappointing.

When the staff converse in Italian, you feel like it must be authentic. The service was great and the food was wonderful. I ordered the pasta tasting plate, which included a risotto, fusilli pasta, and gnocchi. All of the food was wonderfully flavored and the gnocchi was so fresh. If you're looking for a neighborhood Italian restaurant, this is a great place to go. We arrived at 5:30pm and easily got a seat, but by 6:15pm, the place was fully packed.

Tried it on Thursday and came back on Friday, our last vacation day. Thursday we both had the saltimbocca. The menu didn't include cheese in the description so we asked if they could add some and they did. The result was spectacular; we loved every bite. The Caprese salad was great with flavorful mozzarella and ripe tomatoes. Accommodating, gracious server. Atmosphere of a nice trattoria but definitely a fine dining kitchen. The second night we both had the rigatoni with Italian sausage, which was excellent.

On a long road trip with a few days in Seattle, thought we'd need some pasta. Seated outside well outstanding service - truly outstanding. Needed some lasagna but the specials of the day were too appealing. We did the salmon and rack of lamb dishes & we're not disappointed. Seating, service and food are the reasons we recommend. Busy by 7, more so by 8 - suggest reservations

Service and food was excellent. We requested to be seated outside as it was a lovely evening which was nice as the inside is very loud and hard to have conversation. Fine if you like that but we're old and hearing aids don't filter well :)

My coworkers and I went here based on the menu and reviews. We all enjoyed out food. I had the Bolognese and found it to be very good. The waiter was very attentive and the food came out quickly. I wouldn't have any issue returning here again if I am back in the area.

Enjoyed an evening meal for 2 at this restaurant. Made a reservation in advance- probably worth it since most tables were full. Efficient rather than friendly sums up the service. Most of the dishes on the menu are probably to be found in any typical Italian restaurant. Decent size portions and good quality dishes.

Very disappointing Had high expectations as I’ve been here a couple of times before but the waiter was stressed and had no personal touch whatsoever. He seemed to want us to leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. The pizza with prosciutto and ruccola was dry and the pizza dough was prefab- totally tasteless and dry- without any tomato sauce as a base. My friend ordered a spaghetti bolognese which was tasteless and tasted like a factory made bolognese and the pappardelle with a Ragusauce was average. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Our experience at assaggio was, bar none, the best Italian experience I’ve had in downtown Seattle. The atmosphere was authentic, the servers professional and accommodating, and the food was absolutely exquisite. Grazie

Great little place close to the hotel. Enjoyed an outdoor spot with yummy food. Drinks were not our favorite. Service was very good. The young man filling our water was on point!!! Sorry I didn't grab his name.

Great restaurant. We ate a delicious pasta suggestion from the chef. The service was great. I recommend. Also the bread with olive oil was perfect as an entry.

Have lived in Seattle for years and had never been here. The place was absolutely packed - actually I think they have too many tables, it was difficult to navigate between them to and from the restroom. Service was fairly prompt and they did take my long coat away to hang up as there was clearly not enough room for it at our table. Interesting cocktail menu, many gin drinks and they did have a non-alcoholic beer option as well as a nice selection of wines by the glass. The list of starters is quite short but they will do a half-order of pasta to start (had to ask the waiter about this, might have bene nice for it to be stated as such on the menu), which increases the options. My penne vodka was quite good; my dining partner enjoyed the crab cake starter. For our mains I had halibut piccata, which was excellent, my dining partner had the veal parmesan which looked like it came from the Olive Garden but apparently tasted quite good. Nice selection of desserts, not just the routine tiramisu that you often see at Italian restaurants. Overall good but not great, and certainly not relaxing given the crowded dining room.

Anything you order must be as amazing as everything my friends ordered. My vegetarian linguini was delightful. I am craving that daily. So delectable and refined. Loved it. The Polish water was gorgeous and very helpful. The bartender was not very nice or pleasant and I am thinking it's cause we all spoke Spanish and he didn't like it. He interacted with everyone except us. Barely smiled to us and laughed with others.

We enjoyed our dinner very much staff very hospitality food excellent, calamari, minestrone, veal Parmesan, special seafood pasta and desert only negative is everything was Alicante even bread.

Excellent food and service. Chet was our server; he was really knowledgeable and very helpful. Constant flow of staff making sure water is full, used plates are removed. My wife couldn't choose between two items and they basically gave her 1/2 of each; she really loved the risotto meal. I had the Bolognese, which I really enjoyed. We really enjoyed the dinner and would go back if we return to Seattle.

brought wrong entre to table and had to wait while they re cooked the right one. Disjointed service with 4 different people serving us and nothing cohesive

Went there for dinner & it was fully packed. Got a place at the bar. Ambience is surely great. Ordered pollo secondi & it was surely good. This place is probably not good for childern or families with kids.

Super Awesome Servers! Really good taste food. Risoto with seafood amazing. The penne and spagetti with alfredo sauce impressive. The desert? Cheescake of chocolate super A++ Very we’ll recomended if you are close by with the family and kids!

Very nice restaurant, great service. We tried the linguine with seafood, the penne and vodka sauce, and the rigatoni with sausage and peppers. All were exceptional, as was the lemon sorbet. We would definitely return.

Visiting from the UK - excellent meal with great atmosphere and good service. Food very fresh and flavoursome; would highly recommend a visit.

We arrived without a reservation so we were grateful to be squeezed in at short notice. Service was perfunctory but efficient. Ordered the caprese salad and calamari to start - both excellent- then the lasagne (okay) and the Pollo (chicken) Marsala which was superb! In and out pretty quickly - restaurant was packed and VERY noisy - which some people wouldn’t mind, but it’s not comfortable for me. It was a super night weather wise so we should have chosen to sit outside which was much quieter.

The lasagna was amazing just as I had in Florence years ago. Five stars to rate the olive oil for dipping is not nearly high enough. I was staying at the Warwick and my waitress packed bread and oil for me to take for my midnight snack. Please don't miss out on these amazing authentic Italian dishes.

The food and the people were very pleasant. Family-owned Italian spot in downtown Seattle that is worth a visit. The menu had a number of great options. I just wish I had time and stomach real estate to try it all. The osso bucco was flavorful, juicy, and tender and the rigatoni was well prepared. I enjoyed both. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked great.

Very underwhelming. Clearly a long established much loved venue, many locals, many who knew each other hanging out for dinner. A popular meeting spot. It looked great from outside. The service was very quick but had no soul. My waiter was churlish, observing and from personal interaction was chatty and nice to the regulars but curt with the tourists - he barely stopped walking each time he spoke with me. It was busy, granted, but even so and he seemed like a veteran. The owner and his daughter were there (perhaps the cause for the full speed approach) and both were lovely and circulated around the locals, and stopped to check in with me and say goodbye, but it was a miss overall. The cocktail Paulina was ok but too sour/lemony for my taste, the spinach starter was ok, basic but not horrible. The crockery was about as old as the carpet with the patina scratchily worn and grey. Most disappointing was the lasagne which was the main reason for going in, expected it to at least be passable. Seemed like all the love had been sucked out of the original recipe in favour of efficiency. It was a generous slab, sure looked the part, and the tomato sauce was very delicious but the meat was claggy, chewy and underseasoned, the pasta flabby and also tasteless, random shards of hacked up carrot, it was all very flavourless and not too hot either. Not even the dry dry stewing of Parmesan sawdustthrown by the waiter like a farmer’s wife to the chickens late for milking duty added any flavour. Felt like mine had been kept in the fridge for days, then zapped under the salamander to plastic-fy the top layer to a firm leather, and fresh tomato sauce used like a mortician’s make up kit to try and prettify the pasta corpse. Wine was nice but a bit overpriced. Needless to say I didn’t stay for dessert. Sorry, I can see the appeal but maybe I caught the waiter on a bad day and got the leftover lasagne as an expendable solo visitor from out of town. I wouldn’t be as harsh if it weren’t for all the other amazing food experiences I’ve had in town.

Found this place while on a business trip. Convenient to hotel in Downtown Seattle. Order linguini with fresh clams. Food is superb and prices very reasonable. Dropped 1 star as service left a lot to be desired. Assistant to waiter was great, waiter not so much. No personality

Great food and excellent service. Proper italian food. My wife loved the Carpaccio dish! I would definitely recommend

Honestly would not have walked in from the street but this place was right next door to our hotel and yes, we were a bit lazy and I had read TripAdvisor reviews so we tried it for our last meal in Seattle. It wasn't our best and we wondered exactly why it's so highly rated but despite not living up to the hype, it was still very good Italian fare and excellent service. With all the choices in Seattle though ... not sure I'd go back.

After a long trip from Barcelona, we went to a restaurant near the hotel. The election was due to the use of TripAdvisor and it was an excellent choice. The fish was excellent and the dessert, delicious! I recommend it to any traveler !

Sleepless in Seattle? Fancy an Italian meal? Then Assagio is the place for you. After a friendly welcome, you take a seat in the spacious, bright dining room and let yourself be pampered with Italian specialties. The wine list includes some gems from Italy, but also from the state of Washington at local prices.

I wish we had eaten here more than once. Recommended by my hotel, the Mayflower, as it was a short walk. My kid had gnocchi and said it was excellent. My veal Saltimboca was delicious. Our starter, the caprese, was so fresh and perfectly dressed. We wished we were hungrier to enjoy dessert and coffee. The dishes others around us were eating looked delicious. Would return in a heartbeat next time I’m in Seattle.

Asiago is an excellent Italian bistro with superb food and a warm and inviting atmosphere, all orchestrated with care by the owner. You’ll definitely want to come back.

We visited on our 3 day stay in Seattle and found the restaurant because it was close to our hotel and recommended on line. The food was excellent. It was well prepared and although you can't have Italy in Seattle, it was a reasonable approximation. It's worth a visit.

We were running late and called to cancel our reservation because we needed to make sure we were on time to see a show nearby. The person that answered said they could still accommodate us, and to let the server know we had a time constraint. We did that, and they were able get dinner on the table very quickly, and both dishes were amazing. Definitely will return!

We enjoyed our dining experience at this small Italian restaurant just blocks from the Mayflower Park Hotel. We started with an order of bread and garlic dipping sauce. The bread was not the crispy Italian bread that was expected. The Caesar salad was quite fresh. Our mains were the Carbonara with pancetta and the Black Cod in a creamy sauce served over mashed potatoes. The fish was perfectly cooked. The carbonara too was delicious. A winner all around.

It’s a below avg. place, considering how much we paid. Atmosphere is very nice, much there are many missing details on the service/experience and the food that should not make this a >4 stars rated place. The food was low quality: bread was dry, nothing different from what you can get at a grocery store, and risotto was way over cooked. I had better risottos in other Italian places in Capitol Hill at same price. I guess only two things I could called out as tasty are the peperonata oil for the bread and the cannolis. We were charged for the bread basket. Espresso was very sour. We got a dirty wine glass, and some of the plates looked old and dark. Menu presentation was just a regular laminated piece of paper. Services was ok. Check in was good.

We arrived here late at night (8:30 ish) and the restaurant was still busy. You will likely need reservations. There were so many good options on the menu and it was so hard to decide what to have! Luckily our lovely server told me that I could order two different things off the menu in smaller portion sizes. My husband was also having a hard time deciding what to have until she told him that they make a fantastic carbonara, but it's not on the menu-you have to ask for it. I had the scallop & saffron risotto & the Orecchiette (mac & cheese). I was so full after dinner, but luckily we were staying down the street at the Hotel Andra. Would definitely go back when we are in town again!

Very nice and small place with good food and excellent service. Everyone waited on us. Such a great team effort. Everything was delicious.

Really lovely restaurant. Friendly staff and great food. Shared a bruschetta and I had carbonara and my friend had the vodka penne. Really lovely food and the waiter was great. Even recommended some local places to visit for drinks after dinner.

Just flew in with my father for father’s and his birthday and decided to check out this restaurant from walking down the street. There wasn’t a wait on Saturday night after 8pm, which was great- but I do advise you to make reservations. The place is adorable, with a huge bar and great selection of alcoholic beverages for everyone’s taste. The hostess was very helpful and friendly as well. Our waitress Amy was excellent and couldn’t have had better service! She was very informative on everything including the history of the restaurant which is always pleasant. Menu is vast and has some great options! We did not get an appetizer, but choose to try the Pasta Taster, where you can try 3 different pasta dinners. All were excellent, my father’s favorite was the wild boar pasta in red sauce. Mine was the Gnocchi. I have been to many, many places in this world since bing in the Army for about two decades. With that comes a lot of eating at various places around the world. I am Italian, and my favorite pasta is Gnocchi. I can tell you this was the best I have ever had. I had to order an additional half order of it in addition to the pasta taster it was that good! Amy our waitress advised me of each of the sauces are MADE TO ORDER. I had commented how fresh everything was and I was shocked to hear the sauce was made for each individual order. It was all amazing! We also had some dessert which was of course delicious. My father had the cheesecake was very smooth and just right! I choose the tiramisu, which is always a favorite of mine. It is made in house, and was wonderful! Definitely a must do on your list and I wish there was something similar close to where I live near Ocala, FL. Not many great Italian restaurants like this, that has authentic food. No photos due to the fact we were thinking of taking them and just enjoying our plates!

Just a great neighborhood Italian restaurant- lots of charm, good varied menu, good service and wine list is varied. Portions are somewhat large, reasonable prices- pasta tasted delicious. Would definitely go back.

A terrific surprise in Seattle. We went because it was near our hotel. One of the most favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to on a vacation. The food, the service and the casually elegant atmosphere was lovely.

Visiting Seattle we had dinner here. Very nice place, food and wine was great, pasta dish, and Chicken Marsala, along with Tiramisu all wonderful.

Great food (and really Italian) and excellent service. Very kind Owner, many Seattle patrons, excellent quality.

We stayed in Seattle for 4 nights recently & chose this restaurant for our second night in the city. We actually made the booking before we left the UK, based on the fact that we could book online, the restaurant was close to our hotel, there were vegetarian options & overall it looked nice. We made a very good choice! Attractive, friendly restaurant, with good food & service. We had a very nice evening & would recommend.

The food at Seattle’s Assaggio is as good as any I have ever eaten at an Italian restaurant. I ordered minestrone, veal parmesan and tiramisu. All were outstanding, and I doubt you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Décor is attractive, and service is impeccable.

I've lived in 8 major cities, Ive traveled to 46 states, I grew up 35 miles from NYC, 20 mi from The Bronx, and 2 hrs from Boston, and lived in Philly and Chicago, all major Italian cities. All four grandparents were born in Italy, 80% of my friends are Italian. I've managed a high-end continental restaurant in NYC, and a 220 seat Italian restaurant in Seattle. I have a unlimitdd expense account and eat in Italian restaurants everytime I travel. If you want a review by someone on a great Italian restaurant...I'd be a great resource. Someone here was "taken aback" by the prices. If you're on a tight budget, there is an Olive Garden and a Buca de Pepe in Seattle. If you want a special experience, food from a restaurant where they came from Italy to give him an award , in a warm . and beautiful environment, go to Assaggio Everything on the menu is exceptional, have the Tirimisu Any questions?

This is a great Italian restaurant with awesome atmosphere and food. Service is excellent too. Full bar and very good wine list. Great for date night or family night out.

Arrived without reservations and they seated us immediately. Enjoyed the eggplant parmesan but the veal was just okay. Great waiter and wine list.

We really enjoyed the food, and the service was amazing. The owner was there and it was apparently the anniversary (1993). We happened to be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary so that was pretty neat. Definitely a nice and memorable evening. Highly recommended! We especially liked the sautéed calamari dish.

I’m in Seattle for business for a few nights and found this restaurant when looking for an option with great reviews within walking distance of my hotel. I walked past many others to get to this one, and I am so glad I did! I sat at the bar and just so happened to get lucky enough to sit next to the owner’s wife. I had the best time hearing about their experience with the restaurant, their trips to Italy, and the stories of the incredible community that frequents this establishment. And even if I hadn’t been told, I would have discovered it myself. The owner greets guests by name and guests recognize and say hello to each other...it’s like the Italian version of “Cheers” up in here, and I loved it! I also had a lovely glass of Malbec and some delicious fagioli soup and fresh bruschetta, and left with a happy belly and happy heart. I was told the seafood was especially wonderful, and will try that next time. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning!

We initially were attracted by the name of this place (Assaggio = taste, as in "may I have a taste?"). When I called to make a reservation (recommended), the owner/manager Mauro picked up & spoke with an Italian accent (a good sign) & was able to switch from English to Italian when I did (another good sign). The online menu looked very good, lacking spaghetti & meatballs, fettucine Alfredo, etc. the mandatory American inventions on most Italian restaurant menus in the U.S., but don’t exist in Italy. When we arrived we were greeted very warmly by Mauro who remembered speaking to me the day before. We started with the arancini (rice ball) appetizer - - as good as any we’ve had in Italy. For entrées we went with the fettucine alla vongole (fettucine or spaghetti with clams in the shell are on many menus in Italy) and the chicken Marsala - - both superb. The wine choice at Assaggio is nice (pinot grigio & chardonnay for us). For dessert we split a tiramisu’ - - we’ve not had better. The service was excellent. We enjoyed our meal so much that when we left we asked for Mauro who came running out of the kitchen to thank us & give us a warm farewell (baci e abbracci are optional) like we were parting family members. We have occasional business in Seattle. Assaggio will be a regular stop for us from now on. It may be the closest to an authentic Italian restaurant we’ve experienced in the USA. Reasonable prices & enthusiastically recommended.

Italian done right, I was so impressed with the food quality and the service was fantastic. My wife and I were so glad we spent the evening here for dinner

The atmosphere was authentic, the decor was elegantly warm, the service was excellent, and the food was absolutely incredible! The drinks, the entrees, the desserts... Oh wow, the desserts... I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place, and we will 100% be returning next time we're passing through town.

All the dishes were delicious. The place was very busy on a regular week night so reservations are recommended. Quite expensive.

We are looking to dine out with our 2 teenagers, decided to go to this place, my teenage kids said that that was by far the best pasta they have ever had I couldn’t agree more ! This will be our go to place anytime we are in Seattle! It’s a family run business, the vibe was good and friendly, food was great and clean restaurant !

Great food. The gnocchi was very good as was the penne dish. Breads were fresh. Location was easy to get to . Owner was very friendly.

We very much enjoyed our visit here. Very unique dish preperations and all was good. I really enjoyed the beet salad an risotto. My wife enjoyed the ravioli with scallops. Ambiance was for diners to talk with each other, not being drowned out by background music. Nice touch. Highly recommend this restaurant if you desire good Italian food.

Great ambiance, service and food. The Francesca salad was delicious- great blend of sweet and savory. I had the pasta special which was seafood fettuccine with a creamy pesto sauce. All was delicious! I’ll be back!

Tasty food just like what I had in Rome, good wine selection & reasonable price. 意大利菜系是美国餐饮重要组成,这家餐厅几乎可以媲美意大利本地餐厅,非常正宗,而且葡萄酒单搭配非常好,服务员非常热情

Stayed in Seattle for a couple of nights after returning form an Alaska cruise. Happened to walk past the restaurant and made a booking for Saturday evening - enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere - all of which were excellent. Probably the best Italian meal we've had outside Italy - we had Carbonara and Lasagne which were both really good and an interesting salad with pears and apples which was excellent. Service really good and thoroughly enjoyed our experience - thank and well done.

We come here multiple times whenever we visit Seattle. This is our favorite restaurant. It’s honestly superb. If you are in Seattle and craving delicious Italian food with the Italian family vibe, this should be your first stop. We love it!

We are in Seattle for the weekend and decided to try this place. We are so glad we did. This place was fantastic. The staff were wonderful, the service was great, and the food was unbelievable. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about our experience.

We were fortunate to recently have met Mauro in a social capacity. Upon learning of Assagio we immediately booked a table! How sad we now are to realize what we have been missing fro 26 years. The specials sheet contained so many mouth watering options we struggled to choose. The scallops were superbly prepared. Absolute perfection. Alejandro, our server, was top notch as well. Mauro is what makes Assagio stand apart from the "competition". We watched as he greeted everyone with hugs and kisses and genuine affection. He called a majority by name. Acknowledged special occasions. Things I NEVER see in other establishments. He seems to be genuinely grateful for each and every person who walks through the door. Then there's the food. We stuck to the Specials sheet. The scallops were absolutely perfectly done. Wonderful Italian heavy wine list. Make a reservation as they are insanely busy. Respect their time as well as your own. Park immediately next door at the Warwick.

The owner Maro greets you at the door and you feel that you are special to him. You sit down and you are entertained by Fabio from Sicily who is naturally expressive and will make you laugh. You order and you get your drinks almost immediately. We ordered chicken which was fabulously grilled, a pasta tasting dish that was more than delicious, and fresh halibut that could not be prepared better. The appetizers were also outstanding. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and wonderful food. You can't go wrong here.

It was Déjà vu all over again requested and received our same booth and to be waited on by Chet. Was also pleased to have had a nice conversation with Mauro the always exuberant owner. Who takes the time to greet all his guest. Began the evening with their take on the Negroni ( worth a try if you enjoy that drink) had the burrata special appetizer and of course the bread and olive oil. Salads consisted of the Cesare and Francesca. Pasta dishes we tried this visit were the penna, the pasta special with seafood and the pici carbonara. Secondo was the melanzane and the special cioppino. We choose the tiramisu and crostata fruitti for dessert. Chet suggest a wonderful Brunello for our wine. They are very accommodating for vegans, vegetarians and 1/2 orders of the pasta. Don’t go to Seattle without busting this restaurant.

This was an excellent meal with superior service. Owner was present and that is evident in both the service and food we received. Four of us all dined and all had exceptional food. I have a dairy allergy and they accommodated me . Not easy to do in an Italian restaurant. If we return to Seattle we'll be back!

I went to dinner at this restaurant with two colleagues on the last night of a business trip. This is a cosy, old style, Italian restaurant with a nice buzz about it. The menu is a mix of classic Italian staples prepared and presented to a high standard. Service is incredibly rapid, in fact, it's too rapid, leaving no gap between courses and presenting the bill without us even asking for it. All three of us agreed that this fast, but perfunctory service, crossed the border from efficiency into rudeness, and we all were left with the feeling the restaurant simply wanted to get rid of us. Very happy with the food, but would not return on the basis of the service received.

Found this restaurant as right next to our hotel. Great food, as good as what we’ve experienced in Italy. Service was quick and we enjoyed it so much we returned on our last night in the city.

We stayed at the Warwick Seattle hotel right down the street from Assaggio. Londa from the hotel recommended Assaggio. I am Italian from Tuscany living in the NYC area and have very high standards when it comes to authentic northern Italian cooking. I returned to Assaggio three consecutive nights. Chef Mauro is to be complimented on the many servings we enjoyed. Our favorite salads were the Francesca. A perfect blend of fruits, pistachio nuts and cheese. Our entrees were perfectly seasoned and not overwhelming with sauces or salt. Lasagna pasta fresh made. Osso Buco fell off the bone. Antonio was endearing, attentive and took excellent care of patrons arriving and stopped by many tables to check how things were. Oh, get the Negroni cocktail. Perfectly made. Make reservations!!!!

My daughter and her friend were visiting for the weekend due to Taylor swift leaving me some time alone. I walked by this restaurant early evening and was craving Italian. The reviews were great. I showed up close to 9 pm and due to its popularity the only seat available was the bar. I was set on the lasagna and with the assistance of the bartender chose the veal parmigiana. My first mouthful of the spaghetti had me impressed. It was cooked to perfection, al dente and the marinara was amazing. The veal was tender and light. Each time they came to ask how it was I could only nod as I was enjoying my food. I am very picky about pasta etc and I left satisfied and impressed. Unfortunately for me I was going back Sunday to try the lasagna and they were closed, normal day off. I highly recommend Assaggio to anyone wanting an absolutely fabulous Italian meal and atmosphere. I am sorry I didn’t have a chance to tell them instead of nods. The bill was also reasonable including the wonderful Bellini I had. Thank you!

This place was 1-2 blocks down the street from our hotel, the Sound. Nice place- sat us quickly without a reservation although best to have a reservation- we came in about 5:30. I got the salmon special and it was wonderfully done. Not dry and very flavorful as one would expect salmon to be in Seattle. I might rate the salmon at Pacifica in Palm Springs to be a bit better but other than that I can say they had some of the best salmon I have had in a restaurant. Sides of veggies and potatoes were good too. Kid got chicken parm and finished it but left some of the pasta & sauce- which I finished up for him. I thought it was good too. Staff very friendly and acceptable amount of attention shown. Good choice of beer and wine.

Truly, the best experience ever. Very warm welcome and cosy feeling from all simply amazing. I can’t recommend this anymore than I already do. Five stars is not not near enough. Extremely skill bartender, extremely skilled waiters. I really Feld like family during my entire stay and visit. Simply amazing. Hope to come visit again

I was severely disappointed when my daughter and I went to this place after one of her dance shows . We were celebrating a fun week of dance camp and I wanted to treat her to a special place. OMG! For two of us, pre-dinner hour, two puny entrees, and a salad, and a "complimentary" bread basket it was just under $100!! No wine, no dessert, no nothing and I could have made a better dinner for much much less. Plus the waiter was rude. Will NEVER go back.

Enjoyed the Francesca salad. Wide selection of pasta dishes and more. Do the pasta tasting to try three options if you can’t decide on just one!

Went for an early dinner on a Sat. Reservations highly rec'd as they filled up fast. GREAT service from multiple servers led by Egidio. Bread comes w olive oil w garlic cloves and red peppers. Wine list is extensive although I am probably not a good judge. Caesar salad and caprese salad both very good. Veal parm could almost be cut with a fork and came piping hot from the kitchen. Between Assaggio, Lola, and Serious Pie, you may never need to leave 4th and Virginia to eat.

My mostly vegetarian companion said, “the eggplant parmigiana is the best,” referring to the Melanzane on the menu. I had a half-and-half of gnocchi bolognese, which was excellent. The half-and-half serving was recommend by our waiter. Most surprising was the Brunello Di Montalcino wine by the glass. This restaurant will be on our list of places to visit again.

There's a reason why Chef Mauro Golmarvi's Assagio is arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, and presenting consistently fabulous meals. He cares about every detail -- service, food, and kisses/hugs at the end of your meal. Traveling alone, I went back to Assagio after being away for a couple years, and was not disappointed. Quite the contrary, the experience was as fabulous as ever. I managed a spot at the bar (go after 7:30 pm, there's more availability). The simply prepared grilled King Salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and absolutely delicious. Mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli accompany -- a substantial overall portion that left me very satisfied. They have a wonderful Brunello wine by the glass which I highly recommend to accompany any item on the menu. Mauro is one of the best in the business. He's the reason Assagio has been around for 20+ years in the same location in downtown Seattle. Can't wait to return.

Great find great restaurant would recommend booking we called on a Saturday evening and it was very busy The atmosphere was good very noisy but service fine we both had a pasta dish which were delicious The desserts were great tiramisu and a lemoncello cake We did not have drinks just water and the bill was $100 so quite pricey

Lovely food, good selection to choose from. Very popular with locals. Would recommend making a reservation as people were waiting for a table. Waiter was very friendly and entertaining.

Excellent dinner! Attentive staff. Great atmosphere. Vincigrassi was amazing. The spumoni was best I’ve ever had. Eggplant was great too, as was the cannoli. Also the owner is very friendly and so is the staff!

We recently visited for the first time for dinner before a concert downtown. We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation, and our Host graciously made room for my husband and I at the very busy bar to enjoy a little Happy Hour drink. Mr. Golmarvi warmly greeted us & welcomed us to his "home", for our first dining experience! There were 6 of us for dinner, and the service was excellent! A constant flow of the waiters and staff, filling water glasses, bringing more bread, drinks & anything else we needed! The food was delicious, and perfect portions! They were ready with fresh ground pepper for salads, and the same with fresh parmesan for our entrees. Honestly, the most attentive service I think we've ever had! I so enjoy an original, one-of-kind restaurant experience! Fresh, creative, hand crafted masterpiece dishes! Prices were very appropriate for this quality of cuisine! We can't wait to return again! Arrivederci, Mauro!

This was a small Italian restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. We greatly enjoyed our meal and we had very good service. We are recommending this to our friends who visit Seattle on a regular basis. Delicious!!

I want to give a 1 for our waiter!!! But there were good things. Besides our waiter I would if given a 5!! We made reservations for 6. From the moment we sat down our waited was annoyed that he had to wait on us. In my opinion, since there was 6 of us his tip was included so he didn’t care. We saw him 3 times throughout the evening. Another person filled our waters. We didn’t get to order more bar drinks with our meal since he didn’t come back. Another waiter brought our food. Another waited picked up our empty plates. At the end when he dropped off desert menus. We told him it was my daughters birthday and he shrugged his shoulders and said oh well happy birthday. In his mocking like voice. As other tables were getting high fives and hugs for their birthday. Positive positive notes the hostess was nice and even sat us earlier than our reservation time. I saw her and the owner made sure a party that came in to get sat and service . The owner himself cleared off the tables. When the owner was at another table we told him it was my daughters birthday he was so excited and hugged her and wished her a big birthday. The food was good the atmosphere was nice. Everything and everyone besides our waiter Ryan , was great.

After reading many posts that were extremely positive we were lucky enough to get a reservation for dinner. The food was delicious and we loved the atmosphere as well as the great service and oh my the dessert Tiramisu!!!! Would return if only we lived closer!!

I was a bit taken aback by the prices of everything, but overall, the experience was fantastic. Great staff, our waiter was so nice! And funny. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is intimate. I really recommend this place.

Greeted warmly with a small wait, atmosphere was welcoming and inviting. Food was classic Italian, below my wife and friend we had the following: BOLOGNESE Spaghetti with classic Italian meat sauce GNOCCHI House made ricotta dumplings, walnuts gorgonzola cream sauce RIGATONI Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, and tomato cream sauce Waiter was un-attentive at times, having to get tea refills at the bar twice, hostess was kind and the overall feeling was a classic feel with old school vibe. Would recommend.

Located downtown on 4th Ave. Easy walk to Westlake Center, Pike Place Market and hotels. Inside and outside dining available. Good variety. Excellent choice of specials. I enjoyed the seafood pasta. Great, very pleasant service from Fabio.

A wonderful dinner! Be sure to have a reservation- if you don’t they do work hard to accommodate you but you will be waiting. Lovely family owned restaurant with impeccable service and great food.

Doesn't deliver on the five star reviews. Plate 1, the margherita pizza. Dough was midwestern chewy and bready with a sauce best described as "meh". Nothing special. Certainly better than a $5 Little Ceasar's Hot N Ready, better than a chain pizza but that's a pretty low bar. Plate 2 chicken parm that can best be described as the same type of dish served by my local brew pub direct from US Foods via way of the microwave. I am not suggesting this is the same dish, which makes this offering even more confusing. Lukewarm chicken with a tasty (but largely unattached) breading covered in an B-/C+ tomato sauce with a plastic-like layer of what I can only assume was mozzarella cheese. I couldn't tell, it just didn't contribute. The side for the chicken parm was spaghetti. The pasta, excellent. I should have dumped the olive oil from the $8 oil and bread appetizer onto the pasta as that would have been better than whatever that red sauce was covering the pasta. I've had similar sauces that were meant to replicate a fresh roma tomato sauce, but this, it just wasn't there. Absolutely bland. Not a hint of tomato, not a hint of citrus tang, just a red gelatinous stuff covering good pasta. Plate 3, gnocchi. The dumplings were firm in an white sauce that was excellent. The best dish of the three. Service was acceptable, but I'll also make the same suggestion as others that tourists get a different experience than locals. It is what it is.

We decided to pick this place because it was attached to our hotel. We ordered appetizers which we shared and then shared a single entrée. The appetizers were better than the entrée but all were very good. The service was excellent and the price was reasonable. We would come back to this place.

In town for work and this place wasn't too far from my hotel. It is within walking distance of the Pike Place Market which was really nice. The place has a classic feel inside and it isn't that large but has a classic Italian restaurant feeling. My friend and I were seated right away and our server was nice and friendly. I went with the beef tenderloin with a side of rice and it was perfect. The beef was well cooked and easy to cut while the rice was fluffy. Just great service and a wonderful meal, what more could you ask for.

We were in town for a long weekend, and our normal place, Tulio, was closed for renovations....so we needed to find a new Italian place to eat dinner. After doing a bit of research, this place seemed to be ideal, as it has a few fish dishes, some vegetarian dishes and looked quaint and cozy from the pictures. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately (as we did have reservations). First impression overall was good - this place was busy and bustling with energy. I was excited to see several specials for the night, and three of them were fish! The wine list was also very extensive with Italian wines from all regions. We asked for a recommendation from our waiter, and we went with it. He was spot on with the wine - it was fantastic! We started with bruschetta, which was fresh and not too garlicky, just the way I like it. My partner had the minestrone soup and said it was fantastic. For entree’s, he had a basic pasta puttanesca and I ended up ordering the baked eggplant, even though the specials looked amazing. Food arrived quickly, and I will say, the flavors were overall very good, but the eggplant was a bit odd. Usually this is served with eggplant cutlets, but I found that there was mostly the skin of the eggplant with very little of the vegetable middle (the meaty part), so it was a bit tough and not that enjoyable. I think I was just unlucky, but this is the reason I gave this place 4 stars versus 5. My partner really enjoyed his pasta. Would I come back? Yes, but I still prefer Tulio and will return there next time I am in town.

Blown away by the quality of food and excellent service. I had the pasta sampler including a special lobster sauce seafood lasagna which was incredible, the pasta Bolognese was extremely tasty one of the best ever all their pastas are homemade and delicious the beet side salad was incredible one of the best meals we’ve ever had

In the time I’ve spent up here in Seattle, a lot of the food has been expensive for just decent quality. I saw this place walking back to my hotel and I thought, maybe I’ll try Italian tonight. Oh my gosh, what a great choice. The food was delicious. I got a chicken parmigiana, and they must make their own red sauce because it was delicious. The chicken was perfect, the spaghetti was perfect, the tiramisu I took to go was amazing. I am tempted to spend the rest of my dinners here but I do want to try other places while I’m here. We’ll see if any can impress me like this place has.

Very good Italian with a varied food and drink menu. Service was very good and fast! We did not have a reservation and were seated immediately but it got very busy during our meal. Will definitely return.

If you are searching for a great Italian restaurant in Seattle, look no further. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Assaggio on a Saturday evening in mid-June. The place was filled with locals who obviously know their food. Though bustling, the service was very good, and the food was terrific. My husband had saltimbocca, and I had the special pasta dish which involved beef tenderloin, mushrooms and caramelized onions. It was one of the best Italian dishes I have ever had. Reservations are a must.

Very good Itialian. Good wine selection and entrees were excellent. You can get a pasta sampler with choice of three of their pastas so you don't have to pick just one. Service was superb.

The best Italian food. What a hidden little gem. Small but quaint. Great service, great drinks. Amazing food. Def need to make a reservation. They do have a bar, but it is super small.

Wandering by on our way to our dinner reservations, the vitality of this restaurant stopped us in our tracks. The place was hopping, but we got a seat at the bar. Drinks were good, service was great and the food was amazing. I wish I could go again tonight. Definitely worth a return visit

We were staying at the Sound Hotel nearby, and I found this on the Open Table App and made reservations. We arrived just before 6 pm on a Friday evening as we were still on east coast time and had flown to Seattle for our cruise the next day. There were lots of locals who all seemed to know the staff so that was a good sign. We started with the grilled calamari (Calamari Puttanesca), which was the best part of the meal. $14 for a decent portion for us to split! I then had a Salsiccia pizza, which had little sausage. It was mostly crust as even the cheese was sparse. I wouldn't spend $19 on this again. My other half had lasagna, which he enjoyed. It was $25 for a meaty average sized piece. On a positive note, the service was excellent, and my water was frequently refilled. I doubt I would return here if back in Seattle since there are so many restaurants in Belltown area. Overall, I give it a 4.

Refined and exquisite with personality and a quintessential feel to it. The food is some of Seattle’s finest with an array of Italian cuisine that is sure to please the pallet. A must to dine at while visiting Seattle and a staple for locals.

This place was great. Found it on trip advisor and checked it out. Super nice people with the owner comes around and talks to you making sure everything is good. Portion size was good and the food excellent!!

My family and I had the best experience at Assaggio Ristorante, went went back for a second dinner. The food is incredible and an excellent value. Wait staff service was great and the owner is there making sure that everything runs smoothly and his guests are happy. None of us had the same meal twice and were equally happy with our choices both nights. From the looks of things, I'd say the other folks eating at Assaggio were enjoying their meals as much as we were.

Great authentic food, excellent service and personal greeting by the owner. Just like Italy. Recommend Oso Bucco or the Lamb Shanks.

Solid Italian cuisine, pizza without tomato sauce. Very good. Bolognese and carpaccio good. Very central. Friendly service

Lovely, clean and fairly quiet. I had the Salmon Piccata and it was amazing, hubby had the specialty risotto for that day, and it was amazing as well. Great service and open later.

Quaint Italian restaurant, delicious food, however staff leaves much to be desired. I saw many comments about staff at this restaurant and I was surprised to find it true. The hostess, anything but warm and welcoming, the gentleman who seated me seemed inconvenienced and the staff who waited my table seemed distracted rather than attentive. Regardless of the quality of the food, this restaurant will not reach its potential if the staff doesn't improve customer experience. Just disappointing.

We stopped here because it was close to our hotel, so glad we picked this restaurant! The food was great and the place had a cozy atmosphere. The staff was friendly. The prices were reasonable as well. We would gladly eat here again if we come back to Seattle!

Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten!! Good prices, beautiful ambiance…amazing service. The risotto was perfect! Meatball appetizer cannot be beat! If we ever come back to Seattle, will definitely be back!

We loved this place. The staff were friendly, the food was incredibly good and the wine list was excellent. My risotto was better than many of the risottos that I've had in Italy. Definitely recommended.

If you're looking for a break from pub food, try Assagio. Fortunately they take reservations, since they are usually crowded. Both nights we ate there the food was excellent with a wonderful menu. The wine list was good and our server, Joseph was efficient, knowledgeable, probably overworked, but fun when he got to know us. If you like Italian food, this is a must visit.

Visited here for a mini celebration, the service was good, food was very average for the price and nothing we would return for. Was very cramped in the area we were sitting in, not the most comfortable.

Great Italian Meal We enjoyed our visit to Mauro's restaurant. There were 4 of us and we came hungry so we tried a number of items on the menu. Started with the Calamari which was very tender and tasty also enjoyed the spinach and Bruschetta. Had 4 pasta dishes all were excellent, they do have options and are very accommodating for Vegan and Vegetarian dinners. Secondi was Osso Buco and Melanzane both great. Finished with Limoncello Tartufo which is a light but tasty choice to finish your meal. Very nice wine selection from across Italy. Our Server Chet did a great job. Will definite return. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60878-d432629-r842440457-Assaggio_Ristorante-Seattle_Washington.html#

I think this restaurant has a lot of charm with the manager greeting you welcome when you arrive and the atmosphere has potential. A lot of people visiting makes it feeling welcome. The issue is that the quality of the food is a bit average and a bit predictable. Not bad but if you have been travelling around in Italy there is a gap in the details. A good casual lunch and dinner place

We were in town for the Seattle Rock N Roll Marathon and found this place near our hotel, we made reservations, otherwise it’s usually booked. The service was top notch ambience great. The food was some of the best Italian food we have had in a while. Even the owner came out to check on all tables to see how things were.

The service was good, did not take a while to serve us, was served water all the time and the wine we chose did not have and ended up bringing another, which was good too. The decoration of the restaurant reminds Italy, I found interesting and beautiful. Although the table has a white towel, they put on a white paper lining. We ordered an entry carpaccio, and it was perfect, delicious! The dishes I found quite reasonable. I ordered a nhoc with gorgonzola sauce, found no salt, my son ate a lasagna that was delicious and my husband ordered a cappellette with a very different type of fish, “Scallops fish”. It was good, but I didn't like the fish. After all, my expectation was to try more tasty dishes, but it did not match.

Brings me joy. Food is great. Atmosphere is great. Folks that work here are great. The Salmon is my favorite in Seattle. Food and wine/drinks are paired very well.

Our first trip ever to Seattle and arrived late afternoon and our hotel was close to this restaurant. No reservations and the manager was not exactly happy to provide us seating after checking his watch. We were seated in the corner by the kitchen and were forgot about for close to 15 minutes. Upon arrival (5:45pm) the restaurant was only a quarter filled. We quickly realized later the popularity of the premises and the way it filled up so quickly. The food quality was excellent however the treatment not so good. We would like to return one day but would like to remind the owners that all off your customers, even visitors to beautiful Seattle, should be treated with respect and if you don’t feel you can fit them in then be honest upon first contact. We are fully cognizant of placing reservations for in demand restaurants and will attempt to do so for our next trip, the quality food sold us! Safe travels and regards WMB

We had a such a lovely meal here when we started off on our tour of the north west pacific area that we came back a few weeks later on our final stop. We asked to be served by EJ again as we’d really enjoyed the teasing banter which came with his efficient service. All the staff are friendly and work together in an elegantly balletic manner when resetting tables. Was lovely to see EJ welcome new diners along with regulars (assumed that diners he hugged were regulars which seemed to be confirmed by all the laughter!). Typical proper Italian restaurant - with sensible rather than intimidating proportions. Really enjoyed the rigatoni with sausage on the first visit and the linguini with clams second time around was equally delicious. Mr had ravioli both times - as he sticks with something he likes!

My husband and I are not seafood eaters , so while in Seattle we were having a tough time finding dinner spots. Being from New Jersey, we missed Italian food and our hotel recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint! The menu has so much! Our waiter was wonderful, all of our food was fantastic, and we loved the desserts.

The owner and the staff could not have been nicer. The food, however, was poor. The calamari was over cooked and the Orecchiette pasta had a definite truffle oil scent, but tasted like reheated cardboard with cheese. I couldn't finish either. I have no idea how we experienced the one evening that others raved about. Giving every bit of the doubt to the restaurant, possibly the main chef had the night off and their replacement was not up to par. I do not recommend nor will be returning.

Over-The-Top fantastic. Having lived just down the street, it had been 20 years since dinning here, So glad we came back. The pasta dishes along with grilled scallops, EXCELLENT. The atmosphere is lively, crowded and well organized. Not sure how they do it with a packed full restaurant, but they do....PERFECT SERVICE! This is now a MUST on every return trip to Seattle. You don’t want to miss this restaurant. But make sure you have reservations otherwise it will be a long wait.

During my business trip to Seattle, I had the pleasure of dining at Assaggio, a charming restaurant nestled close to my accommodation at the Warwick Hotel. The inviting ambiance, marked by the sight of content diners and an appealing menu, beckoned me inside. One evening, I was warmly greeted by Mauro, who I presume is the owner. As I was traveling solo, Mauro offered me the choice between waiting for a table or taking a seat at the bar. Opting for the latter, I was promptly served by a Polish bartender whose name escapes me, but with whom I shared a delightful conversation about our mutual heritage, as I hail from a Polish family in Brazil. The atmosphere was cozy, the service impeccable, and the wine selection impressive. But it was the food that truly stood out as exceptional. Each dish was a testament to the culinary prowess of Assaggio’s kitchen. This dining experience was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my trip, and Assaggio has earned a spot on my must-visit list for all future trips to Seattle.

The service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was also great. Highly recommended.

Assaggio is a Honest Seattle Classic conveniently located downtown. Staff is friendly, Atmosphere is true italian with painted murals which make you feel like you are actually in Italy. The food is spectacular. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

I have no idea how it ranked so high in your list. Firstly, the restaurant was too hot and though I can't blame them, the people at the table next to us were obnoxiously loud. I had the gnocchi which literally tasted like nothing. It was like eating 1% milk - yuck. My husband's lasagna, according to him was good. The service was questionable. Once the waiter dropped off our food, we never saw him again until he dropped off the bill. This place isn't cheap, and I expected so much more and because of that, I was very disappointed. I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

We came here on our anniversary and had a great dinner thanks to fabulous Fabio. We returned and enjoyed another wonderful pre-theater evening. A warm greeting upon arrival, attentive service, and great food made for a delightful evening. Staff who weren't waiting tables watched the room to help out if needed. Midway through our dinner we noticed the owner circling the dining room and talking with all the guests, making sure they were enjoying their time at his restaurant. No surprise this place is a winner.

This restaurant was close to our hotel and so we thought we'd give it a try. Glad that we did. Food was well prepared and staff was helpful and friendly. We even had intentions of eating here a second night but unfortunately for us, they are closed on Sundays.

went there on last night of vacation the food was GREAT, the restaurant hostess not so great! The waiter apologized for her several times

Staff was very friendly. Food tasted very fresh. We would have liked more spice, but that’s us. For appetizer we enjoyed the arancini. The dipping sauce for the bread was delicious with the garlic being melt in your mouth. I actually put the garlic on my pizza crust, it was so good. Osso buco and saltmbocca were very tender. If you like ginger ale, you gotta try theirs. We had the fried donuts, they were good but I think other desserts would have been better. Our friend ordered the crostata di pera. Outstanding. We would definitely go back.

In town for a couple of days after lots of outdoor hiking in the state’s national parks and looking for good food we lucked into this area of town at the Hotel Andra. After surveying the local fare around the tourist locations and a little rest at the Andra we considered dinner options and had noticed this restaurant right next to the hotel. After a thorough review of the options we settled on this option. We both opted for the chef’s specials for the day both fish options. One a red snapper and the other a salmon dish. Both received thumbs up. Well cooked with multiple layers of flavor both dishes were light and filling. The tiramisu, while satisfying, is not the best i have ever had. The chocolate cheesecake may have been an interesting option. One thing I have never understood is why a restaurant goes to the trouble of creating a name, menu, and appearance that is created to take you to Italy, but then serenades you with American pop music from the 80’s. It would seem that a European cafe play list would be more fitting for the ambiance that the rest of the “ristorante” tries to set would be best.

I was split between the Gemilli and Penne and the waiter said, “One of each.” I thought he was joking, but he brought a half order of each! Terrific food served far sooner than you’d expect at a good Italian restaurant, great ambience, terrific service, prices totally reasonable. I’m from Tampa but if I’m in Seattle again I’m definitely returning.

We love this place, outstanding food and the people couldn’t be nicer. Please support local businesses, consider take out instead of dining in.

Had dinner here and was blown away by the service speed that was matched with excellent quality of food. Experience with the Joseph, our server, was amazing as he was on top of everything and made sure our drinks stayed full. We were in and out in less than a hour. Highly recommend!

We didn’t have a reservation but took our chances at approx 6pm on a Thursday eve. I can only assume the person on the front desk was the manager/owner, he was very unpleasant when he realised we hadn’t got a reservation, most of the tables in the restaurant were empty at that time and no one turned up whilst we were there either. The food came out was a burnt lasagne, wasn’t a very nice experience.

Visited on my own twice during a recent work trip to Seattle. Was given great attention, chat and service from the Bartender (nice, particularly when you’re travelling solo and feel like a bit of a loaner)! Tried the meatballs and Arancini for starters and the Pork Ragu and Carbonara for mains. All the food was fantastic, but the Carbonara was to die for and the best food he had outside of Italy… (and to my best knowledge [I am not Italian], about as authentic as it gets - no cream or scrambled eggs here!). Mauro hisself even made an appearance and made me feel like family. Downtown Seattle seems mostly dead, even on. Friday night, but this place was buzzing and that says a lot. Highly recommended!

I found Assaggio's over rated and over priced. There's better Italian quisene out there. It started off bad when my friend found a fly in her bread oil. The chicken parmesan was like rubber and the lasagna overcooked. Making matters worse... the service was slow. There was one positive and that was the atmosphere which was charming. But for what they charge, the food should be first rate and it was not!

Mauro is an amazing host and when you meet him you feel like life long friends. The staff carry that same spirit of excellence and charm in their service. The food matches that same level of excellence as well. I ordered the halibut special and it was cooked perfectly topped with a white wine caper sauce. My wife ordered the lamb shank and it fell off the bone with just a touch of her fork! We chose this restaurant because of its close proximity to the Westin. A birthday celebration weekend and Mauro kicked it off with a bang! Thank you Mauro and staff for great service and atmosphere! If you want Italian this is the place to go!

Not sure how this place got 600+positive reviews. I guess they've never had italian before. The worst veal parm I have Ever had. My sons chicken parm was undercooked. After reheating it came back tougher than shoe leather. Worst part we paid a fortune for the meal. Save your $$$ and stomach

I’ve been there probably 10 times and it was always an amazing experience. My boss was in town and he wanted to take me and my employees to dinner so I chose Assaggio, which was always a great choice in the past. They sat us indoors but at a table with a cloud of bugs. We had to pick bugs out of our wine all night. My pasta was cold, dry and chewy and one of my employees found a gumball-sized rock in his linguini with clams. True story. It was large and it was heavy. Mauro wasn’t there that night and I was going to tell the manager but my boss thought it was funny and told me not to bother. He left the majority of his food untouched but he took the rock with him because he thought it was so ridiculous. The whole experience reflected poorly on me and I was extremely embarrassed and mortified. I won’t be back. I hope it was just an aberration and that nobody else will have the bad luck that I did. I really want Mauro to be successful and I will be rooting for this restaurant to continue to succeed.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere is amazing. We flew in and we were looking for a relaxed restaurant with good food. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend!!

Great location in Seattle. Antonio, the maître d’ was very accommodating. Great food great service wonderful bartending.

As a first time visitor to the States we were not sure what to expect food wise. We were very pleased to find that the horror stories about everything being fried and being served with buckets of chips were just that, horror stories but far from the truth. Assaggio simply served outstanding Italian food. Having eaten at lots of restaurants in Italy I think I have at least some qualifications to make these comments.

We arrived without a reservation and were fortunate to catch a table from a no-show reservation. The noise level was pretty loud but as someone said if you wanted a hush hush room find a french restaurant.... So we asked for a table outside and within a few minutes we were seated outside in the cool Seattle evening and enjoyed their wonderful cuisine.

This restaurant is way overrated. Our ahi tuna, appetizer was lousy, pasta was over cooked, waiter came to table every five minutes, but said he wasn’t rushing us, really?! I would not send anyone there.

Amazing food and service especially as we thought we’d left our bag at the table which contained our passports! We returned to the restaurant and the most helpful waitress hunted through the CCTV to show us we did leave with our bag! After turning the hotel room upside down we found it! They did go above and beyond the call of duty!

Amazing. Mauro and his daughter gave us an incredible evening. 5 courses of heaven. Try his wine, Gran Sogno, perfecto!

Part of the fun of this restaurant is the atmosphere! Cozy, tight tables, where it feels like you are sharing an experience. We were here for our anniversary and both did the pasta sampler where you choose 3 pastas. The portion were good, and all sampled were delicious. For me though, my favorites were the dinner breads, a yummy waldorf like salad, and the spumoni ice cream. Our only compliant was at one point two gentleman sitting at the next table got into an extended bathroom story. Super annoying but not the restaurants fault so still gave 5 stars!

Excellent food and service. Waiter (Egidio) was brilliant explaining the gluten free options to my daughter and the tiramisu is one of the best I have eaten (and I have had lots of tiramisu!). Highly recommend
Get Reservations
The restaurant is easy walking distance from several downtown hotels so get reservations as the establishment is popular.
