I haven't had fried crawfish in a very long time, and this place did not disappoint. Right arond the corner from the Hyatt Regency Austin.

I had the patty melt and my buddy had the mushroom burger. Both were cooked perfect and had great taste. The french fries were home cut style and excellent and ice cold beer. Good food, great service and very competitively priced! What more could you ask for!

This restaurant has a lot going for it. The night I visited, despite the cold temps, there were 2 outdoor volleyball games going on outside which added to the atmosphere. What the place lacks in fancy it more than compensates by being decent food at very affordable prices. I had the blackened catfish which I recommend. The cocktails were good as well. They do a nice job.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Monday is burger day- any burger for $9.99. Ordered their Roo Burger with cheese. Comes with fries. All were good and service was solid. Excellent lunch for a great price. Nothing fancy, but worth trying if you’re in the area- especially if staying at Embassy Suites right across the street.

Nobody in the restaurant portion of the establishment including a server when I first arrived. After seating myself as directed by the sign, it was nearly ten minutes before a server came in from the parking lot. After that, the service and food were perfectly acceptable and my meal went off without a hitch. It sounded like the bar portion had a generous amount of patrons and a good pulse.

If you're walking around in Austin's heat do yourself a favor and intentionally stumble into this place. Cheap cold beer and wonderful burgers. I had a Swiss burger with grilled pineapple and cried after(joy). My hubby had a blue cheese burger the size of his head, and he has a big head! Cheddar Cheese burger and the Philly Cheese were all winners! We were beyond content with service, prices and the delicious food! Thumbs way up to Aussies! Sit outside and enjoy the volleyball games in the sandpit.

Not Great. A number of people came in at the same time and sat down (we were all in the same workshop). The waiters kept walking by the area and whispering to each other but neither of them came in to the serving room to a) give us menus or b) take our orders or c) acknowledge we were there. Each table eventually got their own menus. Eventually, we were waited on, I was in a hurry and had to get the food to go. When I got to my destination, I had been given the wrong order. Definitely, not impressed.

It’s been a while since I went here when it first opened, but the casual ambience and friendly white staff is still there! The wings were nice and crispy but the hamburger still rivals many of the fancier chains! Great fries and well dressed. Salads were good and next time I will try all the new fish/seafood offerings which look and sound fantastic! Just across the river easy to find and has their own parking makes it easily accessible for business lunch or after

We went to this restaurant because it was near our hotel and we were hungry. If we had known that it would take nearly 45 minutes to get our food (on top of the nearly 15 minutes it took just to get our beverages and order our food) we would have just ordered room service (it would have cost just as much). A table next to us sat down AFTER us, was served BEFORE us and left BEFORE us. Very, very frustrating. Our waitress was friendly enough but she seemed either distracted or something else, as she forgot simple requests, like water. Our order, after finally getting it, was wrong and I had to wait even longer to get the correct item. You would have thought given how long we had to wait and that the order was wrong that the manager or someone else on her shift would have comp'd something but nothing was said by anyone. My daughter ordered a Caesar Salad and it was the saddest looking salad I had ever seen. If you're looking to have this as a meal I would recommend asking if you can add chicken to it (if you're not vegetarian). The same can pretty much be said for everyone else's food. It was just OK - nothing special. Maybe we went here on an off night, or the waitress was having an off night, but we will definitely NOT be back again.

This is an average restaurant. I had a burger and a beer and it was okay. Nothing fancy, but definitely worth the money. The interior is a bit cold and naked, it’s not a place where you want to sit for long. But the staff was friendly and helpful and the food was brought to me quickly. I had dinner at this restaurant while staying at a nearby hotel, and I would probably go back there again.

We enjoyed some appetizers and beers here. It is a good place for fun and provided some great appetizers.

Went to Aussies beach bar and grill the other night to grab a bite to eat. Never been there before and was mildly surprised as it really is a beach bar with sand volleyball courts! There were many people enjoying themselves eating, drinking and playing volleyball. I set for a while and watched the games and then ordered dinner. Food came out hot and pretty quick. I had the chicken fried steak dinner and my friend had the house salad. Both meals looked great and tasted good. The service us friendly and the staff is helpful. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy a beer.

Four of us stopped for drinks here as Aussie's Grill & Beach Bar was just a short walk from the Hyatt where we were staying This is just a typical small bar. They have a good selection of beers on tap. Service was a bit slow. We didn’t eat here so cannot comment on the food.

My son and I had wings and burgers from Aussies. Friends were staying at The Catherine next door and while waiting for them, we grabbed a bite to eat. Service was great, considering the restaurant was slow, sometimes this is breading ground for dismil service but thus was not the case at all. Service was spot on. The food was also delicious. Hot, made to order and overall exactly what you should expect while eating out. Moderately priced as well. If you like to play sand volleyball, this is also your place. 2 courts right outside and they serve out there as well. Just south of the Congress bridge...so you can see the bats then come for a meal.

We went there with a party of 10 people. We had to spend 1,5 hour in this crappy place, because they had just 1 server on stuff. Speed terrible, food was not any better. I ordered salad, soup and fish. Fish was ok, the rest of the food was average. Prices are cheap, and same with food ingredients. I would not recommend this place. Server doesn't know his job well, mixed up orders, made us wait for food forever. Please don't waist your time! You will thank me...

So I'm biking around Lady Bird Lake and I need to stop, cool off, have a beer and grab some grub. The bar is nice and cool, the beer is cold and the food is your typical bar food menu. Good place to stop, but nothing exceptional about it unless you want to play sand volleyball in downtown Austin.

We parked to watch the Bats at the Congress Bridge southeast public parking and since we were early we walked dow here to get some dinner. We both just got some Cheeseburgers & Fries. They were good & filling. Friendly & prompt service too!

A good place to play volleyball and have a few beers as that seems to be the priority. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner bite to eat and had to wait as a single waitress was handling all the inside guests along with an occasional foray to the outside courts. There were fully two waitresses and another couple of persons appearing to be waitstaff serving the courts. Our waitress was pleasant and trying to do a good job but just not enough of her to go around. The food is satisfactory but nothing to write home about. If there is volleyball going on you might be better served at another bar/restaurant.

Very friendly, helpful staff. We really enjoyed our time there with Zack and Kylie. Thank you for all of your help and suggestions!!!

I have been here a couple of times. I really like their burgers. When special events come to Austin it is in a great location.

Visiting Texas for a business conference, this bar and Grill was recommended by hotel staff as good place to eat within walking distance. It was OK. Food came quickly, waitress was fairly attentive, and the prices were fair.

Casual, relaxed, enjoyable sports bar. Good service, draught beer, I tried the cajun catfish, tasty.

Great location in Austin. Close to other venues and hotels. Really nice place to hang out and watch the game. Or if you prefer sand volleyball courts they have those too. Food is very satisfying and not overpriced.

While waiting for the bats to come out from under the Congress Bridge my wife and I decided to go walk about and blow the froth off a few. I am very picky about wings because every place makes them differently. The ones I tried were made with a dry lemon pepper rub. I never had anything like it and they were fantastic. Will our server was a new addition to Aussies and did a great job. The restroom needed a little help but overall it was a pleasant visit. We will be back.

Friendly staff & spacious dining options to accommodate all to include outdoor seating and a sand volleyball pit😜 Perfect for pre concert munchies❗️Thx

This is how it went down one night after ACL... 1. The location of Aussie's to the Hyatt was perfect 2. Our family appreciates a "good dive". 3. They stay open late. 4. We were starving. After dining there, it's no wonder it wasn't crowded on a Saturday night. All five of us ordered something different, mainly bar food and it was so gross. My turkey burger was obviously microwaved from frozen. I made an ingredient substitution which caused my food to come out 15 minutes later than everyone else. The server told me they were "reheating my food". What? When hungry teenage guys don't finish their food there is a serious problem. Our server wasn't mentally present. The table had a film on it. We ate inside and it was warm. Maybe the outside experience is something different. Maybe just play volleyball and don't eat. We all just wanted to forget. Step it up or close! Austin has such amazing places to eat. This is not one of them.

Arrived in Austin late and our group was starving. Aussie's is across the street from Embassy Suites where we were staying. Nice relaxed atmosphere, sand volleyball, basic menu with a few twists. I had the pineapple burger with homestyle fries. The queso was good and I highly recommend the mac 'n pepper jack. Good meal, good service, perfect for some starving travelers from Illinois.

Stopped here for a quick early dinner. Food and service both very good. We loved the fact there was a “beach” volleyball game going on whilst we were there! V different for us Brits! We enjoyed our evening. It’s a very casual place - nothing fancy- but that’s all we wanted that night, and it really hit the spot.

It looks like a dirty kitchen from the 60's. Filthy. Hostess was sitting in a booth reading a book when we walked in, didnt bother getting up to seat us. Bad move, that is when we walked around and looked at the kitchen. Warm beer.

Service was pleasant, but I got a nachos dish (appetizer) with soupy cheese, unremarkable "veggy chili" and bland taste. The plate looked thrown toFun watching

Walking distance from the Hyatt. fast, friendly service. Interior is dated and the place could be cleaner but it is a "beachbar". Our food was great; we had salads with chicken. the greens were fresh and the meal tasted great.

Passed this place on our way to the lake and it seemed really cool and fun because of the beach volleyball happening right in the back of the restaurant. On our way back from the lake we sure were hungry and decided to stop by. We walked in into what seemed to be a really cool beach theme bar...nobody at the hostess stand...NOTE it was around 4pm and it was pretty much empty!.ok we waited and waited some more and decided to just go outside and take a sit on the patio so we could watch the volleyball. Seemed like most of the customers were outside, inside the place seemed empty. We saw some staff members outside and hopelessly tried to get noticed by them the one and only girl was running around with beers for the guys sitting and watching the game, she really did not even raise her head to see if there's anyone else around. After about 20 minutes we went back into an empty resraurant and decided to sacrifice the "show" and finally eat...15 minutes more sitting at the table without EVEN WATER brought to us...sorry guys we honeslty tried harder than we should have to give you a chance... p.s.someone who appered to be a manager on duty of some sort passed by our empty sad table and I swear heard us talking about "where the hell is everyone" just glanced at us and proceeded into the storage room..wow...customer service at it's worst! If you don't have enough staff then roll up your sleeves and help out if you want your business to work.

This place was a pleasant surprise. They try hard to put you in the beach restaurant frame of mind. Their are lots of outside tables, which are cheap plastic patio tables and chairs or picnic tables. Inside is a bit more sports bar like. On the night we were there there was a beach volleyball league playing on the two sand courts in the back. An interesting distraction. After seeing decor I wasn't expecting much, but the food was amazingly tasty and the beer cold.

Walked here from our hotel Extend a Stay, good chicken sandwich & g pepper catfish sandwich, ice cold beer too

Typical bar food, but well prepared. Good service and gladly prepared some meals to go. The beach volleyball is active at night.

Nice burgers, volley ball every night. The waiters were really nice. This place has beverages but don't make much of cocktails. If you plan to have a beer, nice chat with friends or work out at their beach volleyball court - this is awesome. The food will not disappoint.

Typical range of food based mostly on burgers, but with some other surprising options. Very keenly priced.

The dresserng on the salad - avacado ranch - fresh salad with that dressing. - superb!! Then the blackened chicken with mashed spuds - woooo. People playing beach volley ball - a joy. Stones IPA - real beer. No problem with service. Great "bring it on ice ream " desert - Maliry's ? Our sever, ice cream - I'm a more than happy camper . What were the critics looking for ? If I lived here, this would be my regular haunt.

Just stopped for lunch and everything was fine. Seems like a good place to eat. I would go back to try other things on the menu. The atmosphere was nice. There seemed to be plenty of locals which is a good sign.

Looking for something new (for us) near the Palmer Auditorium. Saw the reviews and menu so decided to give this place a try. We were pleasantly surprised to find a little volleyball tournament going on. The weather was beautiful so we opted for the covered patio and watched while we ate. Burgers were solid, cooked to our request. Buns where slightly sweet and worked well with the meat. Fresh cut fries were hot and tasty.

Who would have a full beach volleyball setup in the heart of Austin. Texas? And a whole lot of fun surrounding this friendly place. Good fun food and great location taking a walk amongst the music great haunts of the city. Across the street great bands like the Sweetarts started. And Willie Nelson. It the 1960’s many top names, before they became top names, played in these ‘dives’ of music eras gone by.

I asked the concierge at the Hyatt for a nice place for lunch nearby. she said there were many, but she recommended Aussies on Barton Springs (less than a quarter of a mile). I went on a Thursday and their lunch special was the pork chop. I said sure--the price was really low ($7.99) for a full meal. I expected a tiny breakfast chop; boy was I surprised. This was a large, tender, delicious pork chop. I was amazed--how can they make money on that? The service was also great. Kudos to Aussies!

I was walking around town and ran across this place, they were having some kind of a volleyball thing goin on maybe a few hundred peeps, this was on a Thursday bout 2pm. I went up front at the bar and had a fried chicken taco that was pretty good and a few beers too. Staff was nice even with the large crowd.

Went here because it was very close to our hotel and I was traveling with Aussie friends. Its a total dive, but you can play volleyball outside and watch sports inside. Waitstaff was very sweet and attentive, but the kitchen was a tad slow. We ordered a bunch of random apps - the kangaroo wings were a hit. And any place where I can order a PB Banana sandwich is alright with me.

This is mostly a sandwich place. There are two beach volley ball courts outside with tables and matches one with a more advanced players and one for novice players. The food was OK but nothing special. The service was good. The rest of the place is very much like a beach hut but OK. There is parking.

We went for lunch and found the variety on the menu appealing. We had the dingo dog (beef hot dog with sauerkraut) and hamburger steak. The dog was good but the steak was a frozen patty overcooked with sautéed mushrooms and onions and swiss cheese. Probably not going back.

My friend was drawn to the volleyball courts, but other than that this is your typical pub. Nothing too fancy or exciting. Food was just ok. With so many great eateries in Austin, I'd suggest checking out an alternative spot. Prices were good.

We have gone to Aussie's for years and usually it's been pretty good. We have gone mainly because of its location being close to our event site and our hotels. Last weekend, Saturday night, we went in with a group of 9 people. The first 6 were seated & drink orders taken. We were given a single (torn) page menu to chose from. We placed our orders, mostly burgers and chips & salsa. Shortly after our order was placed the remaining 3 came in and sat down. When the server finally returned to our table he took their drink orders. When he returned with the drinks they attempted to order food. The server said the kitchen was closed and left. At no time did the server tell anyone that we were close to a cut off time. When the 3 arrived and gave their drink order, while looking at the menus, he never said anything. Later we asked to speak to the manager, this is when the bad situation went really bad. She came out to the table and we asked why our friends were not allowed to order food. Her response: "we ran out of food." When asked if she could clarify, "you have no food left in the kitchen?" She said, "right, we are out of food." When we said the server said it was because the kitchen was closed, she said that was also correct. So somehow our 3 friends happened to sit down just as the kitchen ran out of food and as the kitchen was closing. That is pretty remarkable. She also informed us that our server had been there since 9am, we sat down a little after 11pm, as if it their failing to staff their restaurant properly was somehow our fault or that we should just accept the poor service, After the "manager" walked away we were ignored for approximately 40 minutes. We almost called the place to ask someone to bring our checks to the table so we could leave. The manager then returned with one check. When asked to have it split, she said "this is how he rang it up." She then walked away and we never saw her again. Someone at our table then flagged down our server and said we wanted the bill split, he did do that for us. At one point we asked the manager for her name, she mumbled something and walked away. As close as Aussie's is, we will never return. The food has never been great but it has been acceptable. Our reason for never returning is because of how they treated our friends and then the entire table. There are a zillion awesome restaurants & bars throughout Austin, next time we will jump in the car and drive to one. Should have just gone up to the local pizza place where the pies are always fantastic & the homies always treat customers with respect. PS: the burger was horrible, so maybe the three was lucky they couldn't order.

They only had two waitresses on duty at lunch time on a Friday. It was not nearly enough people to handle people from the Hyatt which had a convention going. We got in early and got our food fairly quickly but the rest of the people had to take theirs to go. This was after waiting an hour. The food was good enough but they really needed more people. On Sat there was a beach volleyball game going on next door which would have been interesting to watch.

Great Local place downtown for the volleyball enthusiasts... Food not bad usual bar fare that is above average. Known for their burgers.

We went here several times, because it was within walking distance of the Hyatt. It also stays open very late. I love the atmosphere--with the beach theme and the volleyball. The music was awesome, but there were times it was drowned out by the construction next to it. The food was pretty good--standard bar fare, and we really liked the drinks. We went three times and never had a problem with service, like I've seen some others suggest. Our servers were friendly and efficient! Heading back to Austin in a few weeks and plan to stop here again.

I had a salad and an iced tea. Pretty simple, good price, friendly people. Apparently sailing and volleyball are big in Australia. Nice place within walking distance to the Hyatt.

The mini corn dog bites appetizer was the highlight of the meal, they were hot and tasted like corn dogs. The hamburgers were average and served semi warm, the fries were cold, the cheesesteak was cold, apparently the food was sitting for a while before our waiter brought it. It took at least 30 minutes to get our meal after the appetizer was served and they were all ordered at the same time. Very bad smell in the hallway of the bathrooms.

The burger was okay. The other dish we got tasted like frozen food cooked in a microwave. It was some kind of egg roll dish. We were here on July 4th weekend, and our service was decent. But the weird thing was we saw two tables sitting right next to us sit and wait for at least 10-20 minutes and never even saw a server once. They left without even getting drinks or talking to staff. I was suprised at their patience. It seemed like of the five tables around us, only two were getting served at all. I would not go back. There is a really cool locals place up the street called Sandy's where you can get a good burger and delicious frozen custard!

I came here for drinks with customers. Crummy furniture but then it is a beach bar! Good service, great beer and cocktail selections, very relaxing. We did not eat here.

This was a great spot to grab some quick lunch and relaxed dinner. I think I ate here every day during my three day trip. The wait staff is great and everything was delicious - go for the Fish & Chips!

I always feel welcome when I come here. The food is good and the prices are hard to beat and be close to the downtown action. They have several TV's to watch sporting events and I have not played volley ball there yet but it is worth the trip.

What a great time, the staff are awesome and really look after you. We visited Aussies everyday while in Austin.

Whether you are a player or a spectator Aussies is great. We had great drinks, good food, and watched sand volleyball. Next time we will come when we can reserve a court.

I very intersting and fun place to go and watch pretty girls play volleyball, with a cold beer in your hand, it draws a very young and fun crowd. good bar and good food, as if you were inn the outback

Great super cazzzzzzzzual vibe - shorts n sandals. Great burgers and fried stuff....cold beer love it there

We dropped in for a light feed as we were staying next door at the Hyatt Regency. It’s nothing fancy but it was in a handy location. My partner tried the fish tacos and I tried the Quesadilla. Both tasted excellent and were of good value and not expensive at all. The service and staff were great. No complaints from us

Fantastic bar in the middle of downtown, the burgers were great and the fried mushrooms were to die for. Place was not too busy when I went so made for a nice relaxing evening.

Food is avg, typical bar food. But atmosphere and the volleyball courts are great. The league night volleyball makes it enjoyable for spectating as well.

Good service. Great location to access Barton Springs, ACL and a few other dive bars in the area. Sports on the TV, beers are cold. It’s what you’d expect in Austin for a laid back local hang.

Stayed in Austin for just over a week and used Aussies a few times. The staff were very attentive and the food was of a reasonable standard. The sloppy nachos were nice as was the blue cheese burger.

service is wanting, food is average, but watching the skinny-clad volleyball players might make up for it

Just over the bridge in "SoCo" (South of Congress) area, this indoor/outdoor bar/restaurant is a great place to have lunch or dinner and watch/play sand volleyball. Good local beer menu with fast/friendly service and a great burger/sandwich/salad menu. It's super casual/chill and you can watch the game, etc. Worth a stop while in downtown Austin, TX area.

Neat concept although it was very cold when we were there. Food is average, over cooked. Nothing special and reasonably priced.

We went there for dinner because it was across the street from the hotel. Server was very nice and food came out pretty quickly. It wasn't fabulous, but wasn't bad either - a good inexpensive place to grab a quick meal .. or play volleyball if you like.

This place offers pretty much standard diner fare, but all we had was of great quality, and the atmosphere is very agreeable thanks to the beach decor. It's reasonably cheap and just off the bridge.

Great food but the waitress didnt catch her name maybe ashley? brown hair not too tall but was very rude asked me for i.d. which I did not mind but then tried to tell me it was fake when it is a Texas issued I.D very real she was rude then and then ignored us after I simply told her my I.D. was not fake and if she had a problem I would like to show it to her manager, and any manager would of seen it was a real i.d. on top of that drinks she brought were disgusting and I know my mimosa and it was horrible. The food is good the other people were cool but she made it a horrible experience

Very lad back place. Great service and friendly staff. Food was good for a good price. The salsa in the salsa and chips is surprisingly mild for Texas (so my wife loved it) Parking can be a bit exciting when it is busy. They could also use a drink menu.

Great place to meet friends somewhere central and casual, with parking....but, when it's hot, the volleyball and misters outside cannot take away the giant high-rise construction project next door. It has a fun theme, the staff is nice and the food isn't bad. Would go again for the music though-- the live music is great.

Like that his is a block away from Hyatt Regency Austin. Open late night with beer and burgers. does have vegetarian items. decent food.

Came to Austin for a couple of days on business. Not familiar with the area, we stumbled upon this establishment. It had a cool vibe. It’s set up like a little beach resort. Food was good. Staff was friendly. Service not so fast. If you’re looking for a place to hang out for a while and have a bite to eat while indulging in a few drinks, this place is for you. If you’re in a rush, you may want to reconsider and come back when you have more time.

I don't regret going there, but I don't see myself going back. I will say that their booths were comfortable. For a big guy like me, that's a big plus.

Just had drinks but the bartender was good. Walking distance from our hotel.

Classic rock, good food, good service. What more could you ask for? I'd recommend this place to my friends.

Aussie's is more of a local's bar and restaurant that my fiancée and I visited later in the afternoon right after we checked into the Hyatt where we were staying for an industry conference that was starting the next day. Interestingly, they have a beach volleyball court set up outside next to the patio, but it was too hot to sit outside and eat this day, never mind play volleyball. It is right around the corner from Zax where we had lunch the next day. Aussie's is more of a comfort food with paper plates and plastic cutlery kind of place than Zax. Service was a tad slow, but friendly. They have a full bar, but the wine list is very short and nothing special. Their beer selection is fairly pedestrian as well. We started out with the cheddar fries and southwest egg rolls appetizers and both were hearty and satisfying. My fiancée also had the chicken quesadilla appetizer and I had the turkey burger. The burger had some tang to it, which I liked a lot and my fiancée really enjoyed the cheese in her quesadilla. This place is nothing fancy and if you're not having spirits, the beer and wine menus are a bit thin. However, if you're looking for good pub style comfort food, this place is worth trying.

Ok, so once again we are looking at finding something to eat while our visitors are in town. Since we are also new to the area, it has been difficult to find good food. As we left Lady Bird Lake from our walk in the muggy heat, we walked over to Barton Springs road and saw several restaurants to choose. As soon as we saw the sand volleyball game with water mist machines and indoor restaurant, we went in. The lunch menu looked very good with some basic burgers and sandwiches. Our group of 5 chose fish tacos, chicken salad, pineapple burger and a joey burger. Their menu has the Australian flare with a blend of Island and Texas style. the food was fresh, the salad was not wilted like some restaurants, they have milk shake as well. The best was the guacamole which was amazing. Definitely worth trying.

Good bar food and cold drinks. Service was very helpful. Bar area was very small. Lots of sports fans.
Don't waste your time
A local cop recommended this restaurant for its burgers. We were quite disappointed! First it totally tasted like a frozen patti (certainly not freshly made). 2 of us had burgers which neither were good, the meat was very thin. My DIL ordered the Turkey burger which was very dry and no flavor, and my friend ordered the chicken fried steak which very disappointing for Texas was pressed meat and again not hand made. We went on a dreary day but they did have a nice patio and a sand volleyball court, also pet friendly on the patio.
