Worth checking out

By desertduffergolf |

Quite the scene, shared bench seating. Definitely has the Austin vibe going for it. Food is priced reasonably, pretty good flavors. Big complaint is they bring out food as it is ready, so my family was almost done eating by the time my salad arrived, but the arugula salad was very flavorful. Parking can also be tough as the lot is not large enough for the restaurant. But worth a trip to check out for yourself.

Great beer, friendly place, large outdoor area

By Scott M |

Popped by to see what was on tap....we got a Helles and a Strawberry Sour - we enjoyed both, and great tunes in the background. Looks like they can hold quite a crowd come nighttime! Server even nice enough to explain a "Crowler" to us.....

Slide in for beer and live music

By swainer1959 |

My favorite go to for a second year. I walked it from the Austin Motel the first and did Lyft this year. Started coming to Austin in the mid 80's and did the 6th street thing, over the years I have moved more to South Congress area and this Garden.I like the early music, great beer, veggie sliders and a slice of pizza. Its great to have time to take a break and then go over to the Heart and Soul or Continental Club for the late show. Warren Hood is a must see in Austin anywhere.

Great spot for beer and pizza

By MDXP |

If you're in Austin and crave pizza, this is a great choice. Your first decision is whether to eat indoors or outdoors. Both are good choices subject to the weather. Communal tables are in both. You order at the counter and then find a seat. Your food is delivered to you. We ordered beer- Dr Love ($5) and Big Mama ($5). Both were excellent. We ordered the 5 cheese pizza ($22) also excellent. The service was just okay. It took a while for our pizza to arrive. There is a stage on the premises so they must have live music at times. We were there on a Thursday at about 7:30 and the place was hopping. I would imagine that it is packed on Friday and Saturday night. Great choice.

A true beer garden

By stevenantonio |

A great place to drink, eat and listen to some great live music. Visiting on a Tuesday night and they live band started at 6:30, blue rock band. The service was great and everyone was friendly. Great outdoor spaces to meet up with a group of friends.

Nice Outdoor Seating Area

By SHFT54 |

Great spot to enjoy a beer and nice weather. Stopped by for a mid afternoon beer on a Tuesday while visiting Austin. The beer was good, wife loved the sours while I had several Marzens. Having just finished a feast from Franklin's we were in no mood to eat, however the menu looked good enough to at least make us contemplate it. In pre COVID times it must have been nice to sit at large communal tables, talk up strangers and meet large groups of friends. Hopefully those days will be back soon. The service was very friendly and the crowd was as diverse as the beer selection.

First Timer

First timer! This place is great for live music, outdoor seating, customer service, inside seating, and overall atmosphere. I will come back for OctoberFest to have a good time.

Lunch and a great pils

By Tom N |

Had the Rocket 100 pils which was terrific (who's going to argue with the GABF Gold Medal winner) and a very good sausage pizza - which was far too big for one- my fault for not knowing what I was ordering. Would like to go back at night as they have a robust live music schedule.

Great Place for Pizza

By Rod M |

A Sunday afternoon visit not only provided a respite from the heat but a pleasant indoor setting which was basic, as in family-style seating but the food and the live music made for an enjoyable experience. The food prices were very reasonable, and beer choices were plentiful. Our #3 specialty pizza, may be one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Preferring a veggie pizza, their's succeeded beyond expectations. A live country/blues band provided great entertainment and a regular group of dancers filled the dance area.

lazy afternoon

Stopped here to try the beer on a lazy day after Thanksgiving. While we're more into stouts and porters, my wife and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of the helles.

Music, beer and food!

By samcan8 |

We went for the Warren Hood Band (Wednesday @ 6:30) and found good beer and food too. There is inside and outside seating but if there's music you'll need to be in. Line up at the bar to order with deliver to the table. Self serve water bar. We ate pizza and it was tasty. Shared a spinach salad which was good too. Warren Hood was rocking and the dancing was fun to watch! This is a great early evening activity as one of us has to work in the morning!

good beer, good pizza

By mapa |

the weather was great so we sat outside and enjoyed excellent pizza and beer, What more can you ask for?

Horrible

By Pamela D |

This place is disgusting!!! While the pizza was good, the service was horrible!!! We ordered beer and pizza like any normal human being would. Out of nowhere they determined my friend was drunk and they wouldn't serve him. He never even spoke to anyone. They presumed he was intoxicated, even though he wasn't. He didn't even order anything. They said he was slurring. WHICH HE WASN'T!!! He has a speech impediment!!! In a town where there is a school for the deaf, they should be more cognizant of their patrons. I don't feel the need to explain all of the differences people have. If you think someone is drunk, there are many ways of handling that. There are may questions one could ask. However, automatically assuming is disgusting; and quite honestly, discriminating against those who have a speech impediment or could have a disability is against the law. Train your staff better! This is honestly horrible!

It's a different experience

By FIDEL V |

Industrial style odd way of ordering but is efficient enough. The beer offerings we're excellent no samplers. Someone noisy. European style seating long tables and benches beer probably will go with a larger group here and it will be a good party

Fresh Beer, Food, and Music- ABGB Has it All

By Great_Beer_Now |

Austin, Texas is known as the live music capital of the United States. The city also has an abundance of something different, but often related: craft beer. People who drink like live music to accompany their beer and having good food is certainly a welcome plus. One place that combines all of the above into one is Austin Beer Garden Brewery. As its name indicates, this establishment is like a beer garden, but also a brewery and the beer garden it refers to is located on the inside. There is outdoor seating, yes, but the interior is laid out like a beer garden, with rows of picnic tables placed end to end in the main dining area. On one end is a stage where local musical artists make appearances many nights each week. Austin Beer Garden Brewery brews its own beer and several of the house- brewed beers have received national awards. I sampled several when I visited and among other things, I noticed they were all well- filtered and thus extremely clean in taste. I like their IPA best, but many other beers were worthy as well and I had a tough time deciding which beer I wanted to order again, since all were good. Austin Beer Garden Brewery is known for its pizza, but they serve many other menu items. My kids ordered sandwiches when we visited while the wife and I, who were not all that hungry, ordered a meat and cheese tray. I found one of the meats a little too chewy for my tastes, but I loved the cheese and the combination of meat and cheese matched up perfectly with a flight of beer. This establishment is hugely popular with locals and often very crowded and noisy. The communal atmosphere is conducive to conversation and given that the main dining area consists of picnic tables all lined up in a row, this is not a good choice for drinking/dining if you want privacy. The whole idea of a place like Austin Beer Garden Brewery is to get people intermingling and conversing with each other, like any good beer garden should. I like the idea and concept myself, but my wife and kids were a little less thrilled with it overall. Austin is home to plenty of craft breweries and places to listen to live music. Austin Beer Garden Brewery combines freshly brewed beer and music into a single venue with added food for a rounded experience. The many awards claimed by Austin Beer Garden Brewery speak much for its quality and atmosphere and it is definitely a place worth seeking out in the Austin area.

Good Pizza, Good Beers, Great Music & Dancing with A Welcoming Neighborhood Feel

By Soul_Encounters |

Though its an Uber ride from downtown Austin, this authentic brewpub & brewery is worth it! We visited on a Wednesday night when the ABGB had a pizza & beer special. The pizza was much more than tomato sauce slapped on crust. Nice seasoning, some vegetables, perfect amount of cheese accompanied by a tangy, juicy Texas IPA (a choice of pizzas, amazing main entree pies & beers offered, as well as sodas, waters, wine). But the kicker - Warren Hood was playing that night (watch him & his musician pals on YouTube). Great music & obviously people came to dance. The dance floor was busy & some wonderful two-steppin' was going on. But the Austin Beer Garden & Brewery still maintains a neighborhood feel - not like a nightclub or some tourist joint. Lastly this Brewery supports various charitable organizations in Austin. How can you go wrong with good beer, pizza, music, dancing & helping some good causes just a bit?

Pretty Disappointing Food.

By glennroid |

I don't drink beer, so I can't rate that. Amazing selection though. We did meet a whole group there and had dinner. Was pretty disappointed in both the Pizza and Cesare Salad. My cheese pizza had a nice amount of cheese and sauce, but the dough was really just blah. Although not thick, it was not terribly tasty and far from crispy, in fact it was somewhat soggy. My companion's sausage pizza had the same issue. The salad unfortunately was somewhat soggy as well. It just didn't have a crisp fresh taste. The place is fun and friendly and I will go back another time to see if I maybe just hit them on an off night.

Fun place!

By sharrongeg |

Fun local brewery. Hubby tried a flight ( he liked the Velvet Revolution, a Czech Pils best) while I opted for a lovely glass of chardonnay. Staff very friendly. Beautiful outdoor area, but it was to hot to sit outside. We didn't try the food, but it smelled really good.

great beer

By OverwatV |

the outdoors beer garden is a great place to chill out on a weekend afternoon, the beer flight is good value for money - interesting selection to choose from

Cool place

By Matthew C |

Stopped here on a Friday afternoon for a couple of drinks. Sat inside as it was hot. Indoors the seating is long tables and a set up that would be fun as a group. I had the Superliner IPA and the Fest Bier Marzen and my wife had the Hell Yes Helles. Didn't see any options for porters or stouts. Saw some people getting pizzas and there was other food on the menu. We were leaving around 5:30 on a Friday and it looked to be picking up quite a bit. Live music was scheduled for later in the evening. Looked like a fun place to spend an evening.

Fabulous venue for pizza & fun

By Cynthia W |

The selection of great beer, wine, food and an array of ages and types of people, makes this a great place to meet up. Long picnic tables, casual, photo placards vs. numbers for table service ( I got Bart Simpson) and friendly service make it a very Austin kind of place . The music excellent , dancing included. If you want an authentic South Austin experience, Including lots of locals...This is the place. And the pizza was fabulous ‼️

Good food in funky setting

By journeypal |

The specialty pizza was unique and delicious. The atmosphere is rustic: wood bench setting, order at the bar, get your own drinks. Cleanliness?? Well, we ate outside. Live music is advertised for evening shows.

Great beer and nice ambience

By Itinerant_Foodies |

We just stopped in for the beer and would highly recommend it for a nice destination or intermediate stop. Beer options are varied and we found one or more that appealed to each one of us in our group of four. Ambience is great with a wide open inside area and a relaxing outside area even though it’s in the middle of a city. Service was quite good and friendly.

Bring your dog & some friends

By Holidav |

ABGB, as it's called, sounds like CBGB, the famous NYC club that closed a decade ago. However, its acronym name, pizza, live music and a neighborhood of rising rents are the only similarities. ABGB has many good beers on tap & a variety of decent food. If you don't like the loud music indoors, retreat to the shaded outdoor spaces that are dog friendly with plenty of water bowls.

Found this place at our Austin MotoGP weekend trip.

By Carlos C |

I came here with my wife on my trip to Austin for the Moto GP race at COTA. We both loved this place. My wife is from Austria and it reminded her of the wine taverns over there. The place was very much alive, we took outside seating under the trees, it was fantastic! the beer was top quality and the pizza was over the top delicious. We are definitely hitting this place again next year!

Great place to spend an evening

By annieb40 |

We arrived at 830 on a Friday and enjoyed a delicious wood fired pizza and muffaletta. Deviled eggs were forgettable. Beers were super tasty. Texas country band was just starting when we arrived, complete with an accordion!

Beer, Pizza and live music

By Victoria B |

About 20 of use came here while at a conference. Beer and pizza were good. It was nice atmosphere to talk and still hear the live music. Really full of people but I did not feel overwhelmed. I would definitely come back and like to try more items on the menu or be able to sit outside, it was rainy on the day we visited.

The best pizza

By Kristina H |

This place is so full of charm and are such a great taste experiences! The toppings for the pizzas and the pies are an adventure of flavours and it really fits well together. Even with a super crowded restaurant we got the pizzas fast. The crusts are thin and so tasty. This place is great for vegetarians. And there are a lot of space outside where you can bring dogs/pets. Check it out and taste it yourself!

Mostly good for the atmosphere

By Silver |

Went on a Thursday night. The pizza was really, really greasy, but after getting the grease off and taking it home, it was much better cold in the morning. Beer was good, but not better than other breweries in Austin, but the atmosphere was fantastic. Great enough to make me return for both beer and pizza on a night they have some live music. Over all great night!

Such a fun place

By Nancy S |

this is a laid back beer garden with a huge patio (reminded me a tiny bit of Munich) under spreading live oak trees and a huge variety of beers on offer. the vegetarian sandwich was delicious as was the beer. it's not easy to find, though, so you should know where you're going.

Great place on a beautiful Day

By Cindy Sue |

Great gathering place with friends and dogs. Many beers to try with a very knowledgable staff. The food is above par for a beer garden. No TVs, so don't plan on watching football!

Worth a stop

By Kimraem |

We like to try local breweries so gave this one a go. I tried both of their Pilsners which were good! My husband tried the Marzen and a pale ale which he also enjoyed. We decided to split a chocolate chip and cherry cookie. The cherry was understated, but was good. We also tried the mint strawberry ice cream, which seemed an interesting combination. It was refreshing! The staff were very nice and friendly. They have a great indoor and outdoor area.

Disappointed

By Corgidoc |

We are from Wisconsin, and travel extensively to breweries. We were disappointed by the food. We had the deviled eggs (1 egg?) and Wagu pizza (cremated wagu beef). The beer was Ok at best. The outdoor area is nice. There was a dog literally sitting on our table. We are both dog people but even for us, that was a bit over the top for us. We expect great food and great beer when we go to the trouble of finding a brewery. The ONLY saving grace was the cherry beer.

By far our favorite

By Alicia K |

Best beer we had in Austin!!! Everywhere else was good but tasted watered down, not here! The kale salad is a must!

great atmosphere

By Elizabeth C |

Really enjoyed the feel of this place. The beer was good, the food was good, the music was good, and the outdoor beer garden area a great place to spend the afternoon.

ABGB is what the locals call it.

By Michael E |

In the heart of South Lamar & Oltorf, not far from Downtown. Some of the best Craft Beer selections in Austin. Their tasty pizzas are also some of the best Austin has to offer. The Live Music & outdoor communal seating really makes a great atmosphere & South Austin vibe...

Beer and pizza

By kterm |

Nice brewery with local beer. They have live music and a large outdoor area. Pet friendly. The pizza was good, I had the homemade in house sausage, and the Calabrese, my husband had the turkey club which he liked. Nice surroundings and also kid friendly.

Nice Group Hangout!

By J E |

We came here one Saturday evening as a large group and there are huge tables which offer plenty of seating for groups. The staff is very friendly and they have amazing pizza they make and sell here. The beers are just OK, but beer really isn’t my thing, I was mainly here to hangout with friends. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I would highly recommend the pizza if you come, it’s amazing!

Yummy Beer...Great Food and Wonderful Live Music

By lnt123 |

Being the bassist for The Uranium Savages (a local cult/comedy/parody band 42 years old and counting) we are allowed to play at ABGB twice a year (7/9 and 12/12 aprox), and when we do they always take care of the band with lots of there excellent signature pizza and in house brews. They also have other things besides pizza, but the pizza is the tops! Very moderate and always a good time with seating inside and out. When we play there it's always packed to the rafters. Long style October-fest tables makes for a cozy fun experience. ABGB is one of the very best music venues in town in my opinion with a more than ample stage and an excellent sound system. If your in Austin Texas and want a good time but don't wish to break the bank, ABGB's is the place! Plenty of FREE parking unlike downtown!

ABGB - Austin Beer Garden Brewery

By Michael E |

Very close to downtown Austin off of South Lamar, this is one of the best Urban Brewery's... they have an excellent craftbeer selections and great pizzas & salads and so much more. They have one of the safest Covid safety protocols that is almost completely touchless. They have a huge outdoor area for lots of seating with adequate social distancing...

Great Food, Atmosphere, Pizza

By BrookeS2312 |

This was our first stop on our first visit to Austin. I loved the atmosphere, they have a great outdoor seating area. Their beer was all really good along with their pizza. We had a pizza and also the peach/mozzarella sandwich and they were both really great with perfect flavors. Definitely check this place out when in Austin!

Great food

By Sue |

This food is so good that I was shocked it was served on plastic plates. It has a cool, laid back vibe that allows you to enjoy their beers and food inside or out. There is live music at night and I will go back again next time I'm in town.

Cheap pork on Pizza

By Ann Z |

Don't know what happened. We ordered the Calabrese Pizza, like we have many times. The meat was very greasy and had an awful smell to it. Seems to be cheap pork. Went down in quality. Will not go back

Wonderful!

By Julie G |

Stopped here with our adult sons on a visit. Rainy day, so we sat inside, but it was a super friendly vibe, the staff was attentive and thoughtful, and the food was delicious. We all loved our beers, too. Recommending to all our friends who visit the area!

AGBG off Oltorf & S. Lamar

By Michael E |

Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company is one of the very best brewery / Restaurants in the Austin area. They have a huge selection of handcrafted beers that they make on site as well as Artisan pizzas and salads that are really good. They feature live music all the time, have really good bands, and there is never a cover charge. They have a huge indoor seating area and an outdoor area with tons of tables and seating. It is a true South Austin Jewel.

Great IPA and small plates

By mannishboy2 |

I liked the Superliner IPA a lot, had terrific pizza, baked scamorza and chick pea hummas small plates !

Fun place

By ooobabatunde |

Invited here for a casual NYE dinner, live music food ok, but felt a bit bland. Good beer though, will recommend the "Hell yes". Kid friendly place which is good when you are travelling.

Brew, bites and live oaks

By awatson |

Looking for a laid-back beer garden experience in south Austin? Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company offers a large, live oak-canopied outdoor seating area with shared picnic tables for enjoying a brew and a bite. Above-average bar food fare...enjoyed an arugula beet salad and a pizza, dining al fresco. Appeared to have stage inside for live music. Classic Austin vibe with eclectic clientele.

great atmosphere and decent food

By Scott C |

Great atmosphere and nice setup. Food was pretty dang good. I was disappointed to find no hefeweizen beers which are my go-to beers... but the stuff we tried were good anyways. Thought the food cost was a little on the pricey side, but not unexpected for this type of venue.

Best. Pizza. Ever.

By bunkerm2015 |

Specialty pizza number two, with prosciutto and mascarpone on a gluten free crust. Shockingly good. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent

Great Music, Beer, and Pizza make for fun gatherings

By DennyKum |

ABGB has regularly scheduled live music with skilled musicians in a large indoor hall and there is also a large outdoor beer garden so your party will have room to gather. We love to gather in the beer garden just for their fresh brewed beers and great pizza. Prices are reasonable and quality is high. This place generates a great ambiance that will have you vow to return.

Nice brewery, good selection

By StefJax |

By boyfriend and I stopped by for a few drinks after lunch. It's very spacious and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We tried a few different beers and found the bartenders to be very helpful and patient when explaining the options. Definitely a good place to spend some time with friends!

Average food, way overpriced

By Bradley O |

Decent selection of beer but $4 for a slice of "not New York" style pizza? Other whole pizzas ranged from $24-$30. I would pay this at a legit, handmade pizza joint but at a place named the Beer Garden I didn't expect much and I was right. Average bar food as they try to hype it up with all these ingredients on the pizza but when it's cooked you can't taste hardly anything except bread, cheese and whatever what little meat they put on there. Extremely disappointed and won't go back next time I visit Austin. So much better food and beer in the area. Don't waste your time.

Cool venue

By Cait04 |

We went on a Friday night with friends and a 3 month old baby. It has seating inside and outside that is long picnic bench tables. Live music was nice but we did move outside when that started since we had a baby and it was too loud for her however you could still hear it fine outside. Food was decent. Tried the deviled egg with bacon $2 which was 2 halves. Eggplant sandwich and grilled cheese with bacon with tomato soup was very good also.

Lots of craft beers, decent pizza, relaxing place

By derekb2345678 |

Enjoyed an evening here outside on picnic table with family and friends. Ordered a variety of pizzas, which were all good, but best part are all of the great craft beers. Very relaxing and casual place. Service is average, but this is more about just hanging out and enjoying your company with some fun beers and decent pizza. Would be great if they had some bug spray available though (or come protected).

Nice friendly neighborhood brewery

By Orion G |

Beers here tend to be on the hoppy side... much to my chagrin. That having been said, I often find beers here I like a lot. The food varies from pizza and sandwiches, finger foods and deserts. Menu changes around but everything is good. Service is friendly. They like dogs here. There's music at night.

Not what I expected

By poboxearth |

Visited with a group of work colleagues, based on a recommendation. I expected a Brew Pub with quality Microbrews, good food and nice ambience. It turned out to be a live music simple drinking hall with cheap beer and grub food. The setting is long wooden tables, some with benches some with pull up chairs. The music was a local band, not t0o bad at first, but sometime around 9m the volume was cranked up so much that I could hardly hear my own voice. We ordered a few pitchers of beer, some pizza, salad, and a few platers of cheese and cold cuts. The beer was good, nothing that I personally would return for. The pizzas were not my taste at all, one was too try, the other too oily. The Cesar salad was good. Service is order at the cashier, carry back your own beer, food is delivered to the table. Having said all above, the place was almost full and people seemed to enjoy themselves. I guess this is one of those cases where you expect something when you arrive and realize that it’s not what you actually wanted. I should have checked out their website before going. My average rating is based on the price value, setting, and the quality of the food, not the mismatch in expectation, despite the title.

Reprieve from Covid-19 isolation

By 474fred |

Not too many beer gardens open in Austin right now so we were delighted to find this place. Observing Covid-19 regulations: cleaning tables as soon as folks leave, everyone is wearing a mask, observing social distancing and the tables are far apart. Lovely shaded outdoor seating. Beer selection great. Did not eat although most of the folks around us were and they seemed content! Food is a little pricey, though. But highly recommend.

Cool place

By Mike and Sarah M |

We were wanting to hear some live music and found this place. Also had a beer and some pizza. Nice beer selection and menu options. People were dancing and having a good time! Band was great! Lots of outdoor seating for nice days, too!

Outstanding Service, Decent Beer

By Sharonfpower |

The redheaded bartender was awesome. She was so friendly and was very knowledgeable about the types of beer they had on tap. My husband and I visited in the early afternoon. The interior is large with seating at the bar and long tables. They had a stage and some pretty big speakers for the bands that play there. I'm sure it is a great atmosphere in there when that is going on. The food menu looked good but we didn't partake in any food just excellent beer. There was plenty of outside seating and lots of people enjoying the warm weather. I'll be back in Austin soon and back for a visit.

Brewtastic

By Lee |

More than just a Brewery. Live band and dancing with delicious food items with amazing pizza. great location for lazy Sunday afternoons.

Really cool place!

By Anastasiya D |

I've been there a couple times now. On a Friday night they had a live band playing WAY TOO LOUD, majority of the people were outside because no one could hear anything inside. The band wasn't bad at all, it was just ridiculously loud and tried sitting all the way to the back, and still couldn't hear each other. Beer selection is great! They have some really yummy ciders! Outdoor space is great! So is indoor! We ordered food from them before, and it was delicious! So if you are looking for a chill place to sit, drink beer, and hang with friends, ABGB is definitely a place to go to!

AGBG

ABGB as the locals call it is the Austin Beer Garden Brewery located and the very cool part of town of known as South Lamar in South Austin. They have an amazing selection of craft beers made on site that will satisfy any discriminating taste. They create craft pizzas excellent salads and always have the very best live music. It has a huge indoor area with large table seating. The outdoor patio area with large tables is known as one of the best outdoor areas in Southwest Austin. This is a must stop for any craft beer lover at any time of year when in Austin or the central Texas area.
