Come Wis Me to Ze Casbah!

By OmniEpicurean |

Almost felt like I was in a modern day version of Casablanca when we entered the restaurant with modern Moroccan music playing (rather loudly at first) and the sandy colors of the desert set off by painted walls of royal blue, ochre and magenta. There were plenty of tables for our late lunch so we seated ourselves. In short shrift, a thin swarthy looking waiter presented himself and provided menus. The picture would have been complete had he worn a fez. While enjoying our first look at the cuisine, we ordered tabouli and kebbe for an appetizer. The tabouli contained a bit more lemon and onion than we were used to, but very good. The kebbe, which looked like golden brown, engorged surveryors plumb bobs (3) had a super crunchy exterior followed by lightly spiced beef, then mashed potato and almond slivers in the center . . very unusual, very satisfying. Would loved to have had some hummus to dip it in though. Finally deciding on our entrees, we went through a bit of ingredient wrangling with the not completely fluent in English waiter. You see, my wife does not care for raw onions, raw green or red peppers, or arugula which she thinks is bitter. Guess what the salad contained that came with her seafood Bastilla?! Long story short, she wanted to substitute the shepherd's salad but ended up with two salads instead, neither of which did she like :>/ Her bastilla was a packet of artfully folded layers of phyllo dough that contained 3 shrimp and numerous hunks of mild salmon in a cream sauce. She liked that :>) I had the kofta which was accompanied by my wife's favorite salad and a Moroccan version of rice-a-roni. The kofta, 6 dark hunks of minced meat, were an ample entree with a very unusual after taste. HIt my palate like a scant bit of cardamom, but the waiter wouldn't tell. He stood there with a bit of a serpentine smile as he responded in a soft hiss - Chef's secret!! There you have it . . . our luncheon road to Morocco. And with apologies to Bob Hope, Tabouli, Kebbe, Kofta, and Basilla. Sounds like a Moroccan law firm!!

Must Eat Here

I had mantoo (dumplings), borani badenjan, and qorma. All three were amazingly delicious. The owner and waiter were super friendly and helpful.

Excellent experience and food

By Eutychus22pub |

LA Native recently moved to San Antonio. Had an EXCELLENT dinner at Azro and will return again for more. Service was great. Amir was our waiter. Had solid answers to our questions. Furthermore, he was able to take our requests and make recommendations to improve our selections. I had the opportunity to visit North-Eastern Afghanistan and am used to food from that region of Afghanistan. Amir was able to inform us of how that food experience would likely differ from that at his family's restaurant given their history of living in Kabul. We ended up being convinced to change our initial order to the Kabab Combination with Kabuli Palow rice, Afghan bread, and black chai tea. Everything was excellent. Bread was similar to what I recall eating out there (ie great). Amir even came by to give us some tips on how to drink the tea. For dessert we were again convinced to change our order to the Ferni as he had steered us correctly thus far. He maintained the quality of recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed the dessert even though i am not a dessert guy. Dish was not sachariny-sweet and was quite subtle and enjoyable. Prices were quite reasonable for what we are especially as a night out for two. As an interesting note, we saw 2x "table" areas set aside without chairs for eating in a manner which I associate with cuisine of that region: no utensils, using bread to scoop up meat, rice, and veggies, sitting on the floor, etc. I was terrible at doing that back in the days but perhaps this will give it another shot. This was my fiance's first time eating Afghan or even food of that region. She thoroughly enjoyed the meal which made me happy. Again, I will definitely be back to give them my business.

Great food, excellent service

By Melissa L |

Just had my first visit to this restaurant and the food was amazing. Our server went about and beyond to describe items on the menu. The food was delicious! I will definitely be going back

Wonderful!

By Reno D |

The service was excellent and the food was divine--beautifully presented and quite tasty! The prices seem more than reasonable.

You will not be dissapointed, your test buds will thank you.

Delicious, casual, quiet, and terrific service. We go to this family owned and operated hidden treasure all the time for consistently great food. Eggplant appetizer is so good and the kebobs are moist and seasoned to perfection. Naan is fresh out of the oven. The rice is incredible, tasty, and fresh. Do yourself a favor and give Azro a try, you will not be dissappointed.

Great food!

Very tasty and well prepared food. Friendly owner with great service. Mixed meat plate is delicious with perfect rice. Mint tea and excellent desserts.

Tasty food and good service

By L279 |

Admittedly we have only been here twice but both times were a great experience. We had lamb and rice dishes, samosas and dumpling appetizer. We tried the lamb chops and we’re happy with those. The only item we did not care for was the chicken on the combo kabab plate as it was dry but everything else was delicious. The yogurt sauce goes well with the rice too. Our server asked us to try it this way and wow so glad we listened. We’re going back and taking friends.

Delicious dinner from appetizer to dessert!

By LadyTravellingLight |

Unique and very tasty. We can recommend the eggplant appetizer and Sambosa appetizer. I loved the tender grilled lamb chops and my husband very much enjoyed Aushak, an Afghan styled ravioli. Note: Afghan spices enhance the flavors and are not spicy as in hot. Custard pudding with pistachios and cardamom topped off the meal. Excellent service and well worth a visit.

Scrumptious and delicious food

Scrumptious and delicious food is prepared from the outskirts of the family that runs the restaurant to provide home cooking with high quality to assert your value you as a customer Senior

They Afgan version of Azro, different and refreshing

By ArcRider |

I dragged several friends to Azro last night with intentions to introduce them to my favorite MOROCCAN dishes, only to find that there has been a change of management and the cuisine is 5000miles away from North Africa! But the change is good: the dishes are totally different but very well done. Much more traditional fair, with a simpler approach (less French) and more wholesome. Mantoo was outstanding as was the slow-cooked lamb.

Fantastic friendly service, delicious food!

By Ahhs75 |

We continue to have wonderful meals at Azro! The staff is eager to please. The chef comes to the table to ask how you want your lamb cooked. We've tried practically everything on the menu and have never been disappointed.

What a pleasant treat

By Dave R |

Never tried Afghan cuisine before but wow I’d try it again. Excellent food with decent portions! Pricing a little confusing. Service is friendly, concerned and welcomes like your in their home. A wonderful experience.

Friendly and awesome food

By YumGuru |

Excellent place. I travel a lot and try many different restaurants. I am very pleased and pleasantly surprised. A small restaurant in a small shopping center not far from airport. Very friendly staff, excellent food at very reasonable prices. Very nice family environment and relatively busy... I will return and recommend this highly

Extremely rude

By LubnaK121 |

Extremely rude and unaccommodating management. We called before coming to make sure they would have a table for family party. On arrival they refused to seat us and were extremely abrupt. I would never recommend this restaurant.

Kabuli with roasted chicken

By Khadija Q |

The food is excellent and full of flavor. Tasty big portion and fair price The service is awesome and I really recommend it

Wonderful!!

By Sharon |

Great authentic food!! Everything fresh and perfectly prepared! Excellent, friendly service. So nice to have something different. This is more like home cooking and not like a chain restaurant. Beautiful, clean interior as well. Prices a bit high for dinner, but not really for the quality. Lunch specials are a very good deal. I will definitely return. Merci!!

Above and Beyond

By SAadventures |

I had decided to try Azro after I spotted their menu online. Once I got there I was genuinely impressed from start to finish. The atmosphere is beautiful; great colors and Moroccan music. The service was great. Our server Austin was prompt and full of great recommendations. But the real magic was created by the owner. One guest accompanying me was allergic to olive oil, a main ingredient of Mediterranean food. The owner came to the table and discussed what she liked. They made her an amazing meal of food she loved WITHOUT the olive oil. What a feat!!Each item I ordered was more delicious than the last. The Chicken Bastilla was so flavorful and a large portion. And the dessert (recommended by our server) was to die for. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to any lover of Mediterranean food. Service and food were impeccable.

Gaining in popularity!

By Reno D |

And no wonder. If you haven't tried Afghani food, please do! Wonderfully influenced by Chinese, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. Two of us split an appetizer sampler and enjoyed every last bite. A crowd was already gathered when they opened their doors at noon.

Average meal, above average price

By BD3856 |

Three of us had lunch - one appetizer, three entrees and one dessert along with three iced teas and the bill was over $ 75.00. The entrees were generous with size but rather skimpy on flavor. The bread was excellent. The waitstaff could not easily explain their menu. Overall, the food was average and the bill was well above average.

Really Enjoyed It!

By George D |

Stopped in for a late lunch. Well-decorated restaurant with a Mediterranean theme. The service was excellent. Looking for something with lots of greens, I ordered a salad with the extra chicken kebob on the side. Best salad I've had in a long time. The veggies were carefully diced and in a very flavorful combination. The chicken was perfectly seasoned. I will be sure to come back the next time I am in San Antonio.

Afghan Food

By james g |

It's not the best Afghan Restaurant I have been but it has decent food and for those of you who had never eaten Afghan food you can find way better places to eat there aren't a lot of Afghan restaurants in San Antonio if you want some very good Afghan food go to Houston or Austin.

A Wonderful Meal

By Trail531324 |

We tried out Azro after purchasing a Groupon. It is a real gem. We both had the special - Lamb Chops, Rice and Salad. They were cooked perfectly and are some of the best lamb chops we've ever had. The accompanying rice was under the chops and the salad was perched on top and around the rice - nice presentation. We purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We shared the Baklava Cheesecake - which was wonderful. The service was just right - not too overbearing yet available. The restaurant is decorated very nicely with Moroccan tones and décor. We recommend this restaurant and will certainly be returning!

A great new restaurant experience!

Food is fabulous and perfect service. Loved the mint tea and do not miss the citrus saffron rice. Lamb is great whether in a kabob or shank...a don't miss!

Burned food should not have been served

By Phil S |

We had dinner on Jan 4th, 2014 with a couple who had been there before and enjoyed the food. As mediterranean restaurants go, Azro's menu was rather short; not a large selection. The Azro Plate appetizer was very nice. Two of us had Chicken Bastilla, and the other two had vegetable couscous. The Bastilla plates came out overcooked such that several layers of the pastry were burned; they should not have been served in the first place. After a few bites the waiter was called and the two servings were replaced with apologies. The veggie couscous bowls were no better than OK. Heavy on couscous and light on the veggies. With tips, the whole meal for four exceed $100, which is above average for San Antonio.

Great food, good price, friendly service!

By elturco |

Been here for dinner with a group of families, and I would like to say the food is delicious, the price is reasonable, and the service is very friendly. We liked it so much we came back for lunch... more delicious food. Overall we tested a good portion of the menu and everything was excellent. I also forgot something in the store and the owner went out of his way to ship it to my address!

Fabulous

By ruizrts |

This place is fabulous! The restaurant is small, clean and well cared for. The servings are tasty and by no means small. If you have any questions about the menu the staff will be more than happy to explain everything to you. Take your time while eating and enjoy your meal, you will not be disappointed.

Good food: Beware of intentional bill "mistakes"

By Esmeralda V |

Good food, the Lamb Tagine did not skimp on meat. Good service - until the bill came!!! They would have been 5 stars but I dropped them 2 stars because they charged a different (higher) price for an item on the menu than the menu stated. When I pointed it out to the staff, they made lame excuse after lame excuse (they could see the discrepancy right in front of them -- they even apologized for the mistake!...). BUT, in the end, they did not correct the bill and the difference was not enough to fight over (I just took the difference off the tip). I think they do this on purpose when you use a Groupon. WARNING, either ask what things will cost or be prepared for a higher-than-expected bill.

Truly excellent food!

By congosandra |

The atmosphere is slightly exotic with a corner in the front suited for sitting cross legged on cushions. But there are tables and chairs, too for the less adventurous Westerners among us. The wait staff as well as the chef are super friendly and treat you like family. While the most delicious dish, a specilaty of the chef, is a side vegetable of pumpkin, the lamb is so tender it literally falls off your fork. Very yummy!

Excellent in every way

By hancouk |

The restaurant was quiet with just a few tables occupied at 8pm on Tuesday. The service was perfect- not rushed nor inattentive. The green tea with fresh mint was delicious, as was our shared sample platter appetizer. The lamb shank main course I had was perfect. The server was a lovely lady. Plates and silverware were spotlessly clean. Toilets nice and clean too. I cannot think of anything I'd improve really. I asked if the family could open a place near our home severs hundred miles north... apparently they can't do that just now (how disappointing!) I'd recommend this place to family and friends. Especially to anyone who likes lamb. It was so delicious. Pictures of our food attached because it was so well presented.

Excellent meals!

By Traveltheorient |

Excellent meals! We had the following meals: Kabul Palow, which is Tender Lamb Shank Marinated in A Blend Of Afghan Spices, Underneath a mound Of Basmati Rice, Topped With Carrots, Raisins, And Pistachios. Also had Lawangi Morgh, which is Seasoned Chicken Sauteed With Onions, Garlic, And Chickpeas In A Creamy Yogurt Sauce, Served With White Basmati Rice. I also had a Lentil soup they charged $7.00 for but I must admit, it was delicious. Overall, the meals were excellent. Definitely a bit overpriced though.

Amazing Afghan restaurant!

By Adventurecritic |

I spent some time in Afghanistan and if you have ever eaten Afghan cuisine you know how good it can be. I decided to take my family out to try some Afghan food and luckily the Azro restaurant was nearby. I didn't go to Azro with high expectations because often the food experience outside the country of origin is not that good... but Azro was beyond mine and my family's expectations. The food was of the most excellent quality, with generous portions, superb attention to detail and very fair pricing. The restaurant itself was very nice inside and out. The service was far more attentive and cordial than at many other "so called" fine restaurants and the food was superb. My family loved it and everyone agreed it was one of the finest meals and most delicious dining experiences we've had in a while. We plan to make return visits to eat at this restaurant every time we visit San Antonio, Texas and we intend to try everything on their menu because everything we tried on our wonderful first visit did not disappoint. We want to thank the owner and his family for their attentiveness, courteous service and for every incredibly well prepared meal and dessert we ate. Unfortunately, I can only rate this restaurant 5 stars but it deserves 10. My family and I feel Azro Afghan restaurant is one of the best restaurants in San Antonio

Delicious!

By flksfhtx |

This place definitely deserves an Excellent rating! The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. If you are not familiar with Afghan cuisine, they are more than happy to guide you through the menu. Recommend ordering the appetizer sampler to start with and then any of the grilled kabob plates for the main course. Keep in mind, portions are plentiful so save room for dessert. We will definitely visit this restaurant again and again!

Is this Azro Afghan Restaurant?

By home2chicago |

Had dinner at Azro Afghan Restaurant, not sure from the title if this is the same place but the food and service was wonderful. We ordered the Kabuli pilao and a kabob dish, both of which were so delicious. We wished we had a restaurant of this quality food closer to home. Portion size is large and restaurant decor is really nice. Would definitely go back!

Delicious and authentic

By Michael H |

We went here so that we could have some really authentic Mediterranean food. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious, spicy, and prepared by Azro himself. Wasn't overly expensive either.

Inviting ambiance, amazing food, friendly service!

By hindavi |

My wife and I have dined at Azro's on several occasions. The last visit was today, hence this review. We have never been disappointed. Many folks have raved about their amazing lamb dishes, and I concur. The menu also offers selections that will not be found anywhere else in San Antonio, such as the Sweet Pumpkin Sautéed appetizer Borani Kadoo.

chefs suggests duck

By mama4llama |

had a chicken tangine for lunch. We spoke with the chef who suggested we try the duck tangine next time....will definitely do that. Food was very tasty, the decor is classy and refined.

Delicious food and great service

Delicious afgan kababs and polao, loved it. It was flavourful. Service was great too. Even on sunday night the restaurant was packed! We were visiting and googled for halal restaurant and it came up ! Made the right choice !

Delightful meal: we'll return for more!

By Mona S |

So we went to Azro expecting the Mediterranean menu we had heard about, but the sign above the door read "Afghan Cuisine." Undeterred, we entered a nicely decorated space with an interesting menu and decided to dig in. The dumpling appetizers were wonderful: tender and light dough pockets filled with ground beef and topped with a beautifully seasoned yogurt sauce. The lamb shank was fork-tender and blanketed with seasoned basmati rice with blanched almonds, raisins and julienned carrots. My companion's beef kabob was a tad dry, the only misstep, but it was very tasty nonetheless. Service was prompt and courteous without hovering, linens on the tables. We'll go back to try some more of the menu items!

Loved my dish

By Lorena S |

We had not visited this restaurant in a few years. We tried it again and so pleased with our decision. The new owners have been there since 2014. Mom cooks, Dad manages and adult kids are servers. We started with an appetizer of mantoo based on their son’s recommendation. These are steamed dumplings served with a yogurt sauce. Extra delicious with the house hot sauce (ask for the hot sauce). Hubby had the combination kabab plate with brown rice. This is not your ordinary brown rice which is boring. No this is a fantastic savory brown rice. Only the chicken lost points on this dish because too dry for our liking but all other meats were tasty especially the lamb. The winner was my plate of lamb shank (a generous portion) with rice topped with carrots and raisins. Add a little yogurt sauce and some hot sauce and it was a superb blend of flavors. Our server told us to try it this way and he’s right again. Listen to your server’s suggestions at this place. We’re planning our next visit in the next few days and hopefully take some friends to discover a great new place. We even had a quick culture lesson which was a bonus. A wonderful experience overall.

An Oasis of Deliciousness in San Antonio

By Johnny H |

In the San Antonio food desert, swarmed by greasy Tex-Mex, Azro is an Oasis of deliciousness. Rarely have I been this impressed with a restaurant. My wife and I went with our two year old son and we all enjoyed the experience. I 'll start with the food. We ordered two appetizers, the Azro plate for two which includes baba ghanoush, falafel, hummus & tabbouli and an order of dolmas. Baba ghanoush is one of my favorite dishes and this one was perfectly prepared, really fantastic. The hummus was also fantastic and definitely the best in San Antonio. The falafel was crisp, not greasy and very flavorful. Normally I do not like tabbouli because most restaurants are so skimpy with the parsley. At Azro the parsley is finely minced and plentiful resulting in a delicious tabbouli. The dolmas, filled with rice, pine nuts and raisins, are different then what I am used to yet, satisfying and my son loved them. For the main course my wife ordered the vegetarian bastilla and I ordered the chicken bastilla. The chicken bastilla: baked phyllo filled with chicken breast and almonds and topped with a dried fruit ragout and caramelized onions, was amazing! The vegetarian version is filled with spinach, mushrooms, and feta cheese. My wife and I agreed that both were great but the chicken was incredible, our son preferred the vegetarian version. Both dishes come with a Mediterranean salad that was just the perfect compliment to the meal. The greens were fresh, the peppers crisp and sliced thin, the olives delicious and plentiful, the vinaigrette was tasty but not overpowering allowing the flavors of the veggies to shine through and it was topped with a nice wedge of feta. Everything so far had been so amazing that we were really looking forward to dessert and it was the perfect ending to perfect meal. We ordered the baklava, and Moroccan coffee. The baklava had just the right amount of everything. It was subtle and not overblown like so many restaurants who don't make their own desserts. This was made in house and the quality shows. I am a serious coffee snob and am very particular about the way I like my coffee prepared. At most restaurants the coffee is not a priority, it is just an afterthought and it shows. This was the best Moroccan (Turkish/Greek) coffee I've had, fragrant and herbaceous, in a good way, smooth and not the slightest bit bitter. To get coffee like that takes a real attention to detail that shows just how much the chef and owner cares about his food and his patrons. As for the rest? The restaurant was tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, even the bathrooms, and the outdoor seating was comfortable and a wonderful place to enjoy a Fall afternoon. The owner/chef, Khalid, took care of us and was very warm, professional, and helpful. He had perfect timing with everything, never hovering or neglecting us. He was also very kind and accommodating to our two year old son. I am already planning my next trip to Azro Moroccan & Mediterranean Bistro.

Great local Moroccan Restaurant

By Gerry D |

In a strip mall . . . the location has had a lot of other restaurants . . . this one is by far the best! Nicely appointed inside . . . went for lunch today and had baba ganoush and a chicken kabob sandwich. Both were great, but the sandwich was really excellent. So good I'm thinking of taking the family for dinner tonight!

Hidden gem!!!

By Mrs. Faith |

Tried this place on a whim after searching for something for dinner. I wanted something GOOD which meant it wasn’t coming from a place with a drive thru window. Walked in and was welcomed quickly. Placed my order and took a seat. Within moments, I was given a warm mint tea to enjoy while I waited. Soon the food arrived and I drove home to enjoy. I ordered the combination kebab and the KABULI PALOW. When I say the lamb was fall off the bone, I mean without any effort AT ALL!!! The meat was tender, well flavored and succulent. The rice was fluffy and perfect. Salads come with the dishes and were tasty. I haven’t tried the kebab yet as the lamb dish was such a huge offering that I couldn’t eat it all. It was the perfect dish for a wonderful price. Great hospitality and flavor. I will definitely return to try another dish!

San Antonio Surprise

By Lee R |

We recently started venturing out of our comfort zone a little more in SA and ran across Azro. Although I have been to the Middle East, I have never had authentic Afghani food. First, it was quiet. We walked right in on a Friday evening and sat down. The service was excellent, and the wait staff was patient with us, explaining the differences between the meals, spices, etc. Second, the food was great. The rice was spectacular and full of flavor and the kabobs (I had the combination) was really well done and extremely delicious and tender. I highly recommend this place if you're bored of tex-mex and are feeling a little adventurous. It is well worth it.

Authentic Afghan Eats with Top-Notch Service!

By Lina E |

From the moment we walked into this Afghan restaurant, we knew we were in for something special. The warm, inviting space offers both traditional Afghan seating and regular tables, setting the perfect scene for a cozy meal. We started with the mantoo dumplings, and they were a delight—soft, flavorful, and just the right balance of spices. For our mains, we tried the Kabuli Palow lamb and the Uzbeki Palow lamb. At first glance, they seemed pretty similar, but the difference was in the rice. The Uzbeki Palow’s fragrant, flavorful grains really stood out, making it my favorite of the two. Service was another highlight. Our server didn’t just take our order—he took the time to walk us through the menu, explaining the subtle differences between dishes and making sure we got exactly what we wanted. Small touches like that make all the difference.

Order Takeout

By George B |

Went to restaurant on a Thursday afternoon about 2:30p.m. approximately 30 minutes prior to their afternoon break before dinner. I specifically instructed the waiter on what I wanted to order, and I was was very specific. When I arrived at my home, out of 3 orders 1 was correct. I am a firm believer in customer service no matter what. When I called the next day a gentleman answered the phone and I asked for the manager. He said the manager was not there but he could help. I explained the entire situation to him, even described the waiter. Suddenly another man is on the phone, and not only was he my waiter, but the Owner/Manager. He began talking to me like I was a dumb child who didn't remember what I ordered. I kept the $40.00 order, because I planned to go show them. But they pissed me off so bad, I threw the food away and will never go there again.

I chose it for Halal but it's good for all

By Abu-Jibril |

For my family, this is one of the few restaurants where we can eat meat. I do however see this restaurant as one that attracts people from all walk of life and dietary needs. very tasty food but not always plentiful. What my wife and I did on our last trip was to order the half chicken with extra rice, that was more than enough for both of us. The mint tea is a must have if you care for tea, it helps that you get free refill. We like to seat on the floor (well carpeted and raised floor) to get that authentic Afghan feel.

Subtlety spiced delightful cuisine and very inexpensive

By wittygirl99 |

I was so pleased to find this treasure . The food is very flavorful and unique. Not hot but there is a super hot sauce and a chutney you can add if desired. Everything is house made and fresh. Crusty bread from a clay tandoor oven. Appetizers for all tastes. Lamb dishes to die for. The lamb chops are amazing. The star is the saffron or brown rice. So skillfully prepared as to put other rice to shame. Served with raisins or carrots or nuts and candied orange peel, it is a must have. There are vegetarian, chicken and beef dishes as well. The desserts are unusual. Most contain rose water but it is not overwhelming. The ice cream is amazing and has noodles in it! Strange but it works! So refreshing! The do not allow alcohol. But the food is so good you won't care. Or get it to go.

Excellent Food

By Vesta F |

Today we had a filet and three lamb chops with veggies and couscous served in a Tagane. It was outstanding. The lamb chops were tender and the vegetables were superb - it is the 4th time our family has eaten here and we plan to return frequently.

Je ne say pas... Magnifuque

By ArcRider |

While the interior fit-out is ok, this is some of the most sofisticated cuisine in San Antonio. Whether the mint tea or the harrisa, the food here takes me back to Fez and Esuaria. The dishes are layered in flavors, with each ingredient carefully prepared before it is added to the finished product. The lamb couscous was rich but not overbearing. The chicken bastilla I've had several times now and never been disappointed. The crem brule seems meager until you find it so dense you can sculpt it. All in all, I'd stand this place against my favorite creole restaurant in New Orleans.

quiet, friendly, clean and excellent food and service

By stephen710 |

Having never had afghan food, ordered the appetizer sampler. when the waiter delivered it he took the time to describe each different item and what sauce went with it. all items were excellent. the meals were also great.

Afghan Food Rocks

By Aunttabby |

Great place, food was excellent and best baklava I've ever had, they just spell it Baghlawa. I have never tried Afghan food before but I like Greek and this is similar but with greater variety it seems to me. The waiter was very kind to explain all the dishes to us so we could choose. Six of us ordered a variety of starters and entrees and everyone liked what they ordered from kababs to an Afghan curry, it was tasty but not overly spicy, in fact just right. This place is pleasantly decorated in traditional rug seating but with plenty of tables as well. It is spacious and clean and very welcoming. We enjoyed our dinner exceedingly and will be back, very reasonable for the generous portions served.
