Can't wait to come back

By Older visitor |

Delicious food and everyone in our family of five enjoyed what they ordered. I have a lot of food intolerances, and I loved their Madhatter salad that I had with a few items removed. It was wonderful. The portions were generous, and we are looking forward to going back soon.

Thumbs Down on Food and Service

I'm not a food snub but I do like a good meal. I was excited to try BB's. After a 20 minutes wait for our waiter, we asked who appeared to be a manager for service. A waitress serving a very large group of a dozen or more was tied up taking their order. After finally getting our food 50 minutes later, it was a BIG disappointment. Only my son-in-law was pleased with his gumbo. My husband was satisfied with his chicken wrap (but hard to get that wrong) while my daughters shrimp was way overcooked and dry in her shrimp and grits. My shrimp po boy was horrible. I couldn't eat any of it and had them remove it from my bill. Not sure what they soak the shrimp in but definitely a chemical taste, perhaps for cleaning. Save your time and money and eat someplace else. This dining experience is a BIG miss.

Must try!

Stopped here for lunch wasn't busy but the food was great. We had crab tilapia, shrimp and grits, blackened redfish. Our waiter was awesome and very attentive. I believe his name was Jason. Great experience.

On a trip to check up with DR. Saw a peace done on local seafood restaurants. Found them on gps next to Sea World.

Wife had crawfish etouffe, had red beans and rice. We added Fried Boudin Balls and Bread pudding with rum sauce for desert.

Sorry to say, but it was not a memorable experience. Service was less than average, having to ask for water numerous times, could not get utensils with the meal, and they were out of small forks to use with the oysters, so had to use a regular dinner fork. Food was less than spectacular since the Shrimp Gumbo was more of a soup than a gumbo with nothing but broth, and the Tacos Del Mar had tough chewy shells, neither crisp or soft.

Lucky to find this place

Had to run to SA on Black Friday because our TV gave up the ghost. While confirming location of TV pick-up, I found this place. We were extremely happy to have stumbled upon this place and will be back. Visit started off with our server, Misty, greeting us asking us for our drink orders. I ordered a Blue Moon and she asked if I wanted big or little/ 32 or 22? Of course I chose the big 32. My husband also chose a big beer, his being a Shiner Bock. Beers were delivered quickly and were in frozen schooners. Misty made some menu suggestions for us and we followed her lead. I ordered the French Quarter plate which came with red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, and a garlic smoked sausage link. Everything was outstanding. I was pleasantly surprised the sausage link was a full length and as long as the plate. We had eaten at a famous BBQ joint not too long ago and the link we got there was about the size of breakfast links. My husband ordered the Rue Trio and chose the chicken and sausage gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and red beans and rice. He loved all of his choices. I tried the gumbo and it was very good. I am not usually a gumbo fan because most have too much file in them for me but this one was perfect for me. Husband said the red beans and rice were the best he's ever had and they were his least favorite part of his order. None of the selections were overly spicy and Tabasco/Louisiana Hot Sauce is available for those who want spicier. There was plenty of food in each order and had we been headed right home could have brought home enough for at least one more meal. We look forward to going back soon and taking our group of friends so we can try different selections like Cajun Empanadas or Boudin Flautas.

So glad we found this! Shrimp & grits were the best. Bubba Lump salad and its dressing was next. Very tasty! The steak was great, but I can't remember the name. STOP HERE for drinks and food!
