We found this place while staying in San Diego. Tried it for a early morning breakfast. Breakfast was so good, we visited twice more that week. All of our meals were awesome. Margaritas were very strong! The service was fast and friendly. We greatly enjoyed our visits and will visit again on our next trip.

Came here for the boxing. Great table service and great food. Thank you for looking after me and my boys...

The food was great and the prices were good. The service on the other hand was not. Had to ask to have our bill, box and other items after waving her down because she never came back after taking our order, she didn’t even deliver our food.

The food was great, waitress was very good. We sat on the patio and I enjoyed watching everyone stroll by. The food portions were huge and an xc lent value.

Amazing place to enjoy beach views and chilly margaritas. They have one page totally dedicated to numerous margaritas options - Do ask for "on the rocks" option. We ordered for lobster taquitos, shrimp tacos, sunset rolls. All three choices were delicious. Their Nachos comes in large portions, so would recommend for larger groups. DJ was playing some really good music. Absolutely loved this place - Great views, food, Music and Margaritas. Highly Recommend! Would love to go back!

Big portions, friendly staff, nice crowd, tables right next to the beach ... cocktails if you want to start early! Perfect spot for people watching - enjoy!

Great location... good margaritas... dreadful service the waitress was rude to all customers we were a party of 7 then another four joined us so spending lots of money. We work for a large company in and out San Diego all the time will not recommend this place ! Shame because you will loose lots of money due to bad staff !

Salad with fresh fish of the day that is not fresh at all!!! A shame. Really average beach brewery and full of customers leaves plates half full... Never again

The service was slow and our server wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. My $7 bowl of day old oatmeal was so-so. My wife's eggs/bacon and toast were blah. Overall the food and service were marginal. However, the setting right on the beach was outstanding.

Good was good. Never had lobster taquitos before. I would order them again. But, the place was much too loud, a bit dirty. Customers showed up with children; this is NOT a family restaurant. Much too loud and drunk of a place for a baby to be.

We ordered 4 different margaritas and when they arrived we just roared. The glasses were bigger than our heads! We ordered tacos and thought we'd order tortilla chips for starters. Now, I know we were in the States and should have learnt by now, but jeez, we didn't need to order so much! The tortilla chips on their own was more than enough to feed the 4 of us! Very good value and delicious though. Lovely atmosphere too. Nice to sit outside too.

A great spot to sit and eat breakfast right by the boardwalk. Service is slick and friendly even at busy times. Food is simple and homely and good value for money

Arrived in PB after a long day of travel. Walked by a few spots prior and got bad vibes - see review for Duck Dive.... Decided to give this a shot, and I am always one to have caution about a tourist spot. It was fantastic . Food was solid. Met expectations. Tacos. Taquitos. All good and very well priced. Happy hour values were great also. Service was outstanding. Thea our server was great, Value was excellent also. Great value, and great service in a tourist spot is hard to come by. Well done. We will be back during our trip.

Great location and food. But it needs more servers as it was quite slow. If you are going to g for a margarita definitely go large for an extra 5$. The drink is 3 times the size of a regular

We came for "a drink" and appetizer. But oohhhh you order a drink and they brought 2 of each!!!!!! Happy hour M-F 4 to 8pm AWESOME Great food, view of the ocean all day long and great music! What a nice place. Order endless summer salad- chicken or steak. Big portions. Service was decent but friendly

This place is one of the best kept secretes on the boardwalk. Excellent breakfast offerings and very nice dinners, open air at the beach

Loved the location of Baja Beach Cafe. It was nice to walk to the restaurant and sit outside and listen to the ocean over dinner and drinks. The service was a little slow but the food was good.

Came here for happy hour for the ‘two for one’ margaritas. They’re gimmick: “Our margarita’s are only one shot tequila, so with the ‘buy one get one free’ you’ll get two shots alcohol. If you upgrade to our supersized margarita you’ll get 4 shots for only $5 more.” So we did! THE PROBLEM: As I now read from other reviews.... this was the most watered down drink..... EVER! We asked to buy two extra shots (which also tasted watered down) and added it to the margarita which made it only slightly better. To give the Baja Beach Cafe a chance, I went back the next day with a friend who ordered a ‘Long Island Iced Tea’. Understand, I didn’t tell her of our experience the day before. Her 1st comment, “Taste this! Do you taste any alcohol in here whatsoever?” I said, “No! Send it back!” So now, this is my 1st negative review. Had to do it! This is so blatantly WRONG!!

So believe it or not my wife come and we park in front of this restaurant for the past four years we just decided to go inside boy did we make a mistake of not going inside sooner!! The lobster mac and cheese is to die for the lobster roll Takis oh my goodness delicious I'm hearing that the fish burrito is also the BOMB... we are counting the days until we go back! Love this place!!!

This is a moderately priced bar/restaurant right on the beach boardwalk. The food was ok nothing to brag about. They are famous for their margaritas which are huge! They were $17-$20 a piece. They have outdoor seating so you can look at the ocean while you eat. This is the real reason to come here. The only things that annoyed me where the DJ and the seating. The music was good, but it was so loud! Hard to hear anyone talking including the waitress! The seating was open seating. Because it was so busy we had to stalk people leaving their tables to find a place. I wish they would just take a name and assign tables to people.

The Baja Beach Cafe had a great atmosphere. You could choose to eat inside or outside and at night the place was packed with people wanting to see the sunset. The food was quite good and their margaritas were pretty good as well. If you want to feel like you are eating on the beach then this is a good choice.

This was a short walk from our cottage at Crystal Pier so we walked over while our room was being prepped. We sat on the patio overlooking the board walk. Food was really good - my wife and I split a quesadilla and their sunset rolls. Two of our boys had burgers, one had a grilled cheese. Since it was the first day of a long weekend, my wife and I each had a jalapeno margarita. Very good with some nice spicy kick. Note to the wait staff, when a guest is sitting with three children, saying that each margarita had "four shots for less than the price of two", not necessary. Know your audience. Anyways, we all enjoyed our meals, the boys who got the burgers really loved them. We would go back.

We loved the food here. Dinner on a Saturday night - busy but we still found a table pretty quickly. He had lobster taquitos (ORDER THESE) and I had shrimp tacos with beans and rice. They have a really hot habanero dip that was delish too! The margaritas are humongous. $18 for something the size of my head! I seriously couldn’t even finish it. We sat inside but the outdoor patio was very popular and seems like a good place to watch the sunset. The crowd was mixed - lots of young people but also couples with kids, older folks, etc. We will be back!

Had a delicious breakfast at the Baja Beach Cafe. Super omelettes - my wife got a California brie-topped omelette, and I got the Diablo, loaded with jalapeños - awesome! Good coffee too! We'll be back again.

Every time I visit San Diego I make it a point to come here. Good food, great drinks and an amazing ocean view. Highly recommend!

Great view of the beach/ocean and people watch. Food is ok, and there Margaritas are good and advice to share with someone. Unless you want to get waisted. Service is excellent.

Super fun, casual, noisy hangout right on the beach. Great for people-watching and drinking some ENORMOUS margaritas!

Great place to enjoy a drink or some food and take in the view of the ocean and beach. Located right on the beachfront. We choose this place simply because of the patio and were not disappointed. Drinks were well priced, did not try any food, but all the plates that went by use looked great. We ended up stopping here a couple days later when we were back in the area, and again were not disappointed. Definitely will stop again the next time we are back in San Diego.

We stopped in here as we heard it was great for magaritas. We were not disappointed and it was 2 for 1 special when we arrived. We also had the calamari steak appetizer. It was FANTASTIC! The have a sauce for dipping the calamari and we really loved it. we ask the server if we could have the recipe and she kindly checked with the chef and provided us with the recipe! Who does that? Stop in this place and enjoy a drink and app beachside!

Went for breakfast and it was tasteless Went back for two for one happy hour They only have margaritas and we got the coconut pina colada type one and was nothing but sweet and sour - and didn’t really have any alchohol Even worse we were charged for both drinks and host was rude There are too many other excellent places to eat and drink on pacific beach

Great little spot on the beach, the food was tasty and big portions. Spectacular views but unfortunately the service was lacking a bit.

My wife and I had dinner at the Baja Beach Cafe during a recent Pacific Beach vacation. Whoo-Boy! What fun! Situated on the Pacific Beach boardwalk, this joint offers two for one drinks from open to close and a full spate of tasty Margarita choices. I opted for the Jame 'O Rita, a wonderful blend of Jameson Whiskey and Patron Silver. Dee-lish! We also dined on the Mucho Nachos with steak and the Grande Quesadilla with chicken, both of which were phenomenal. The bar offers both inside and outside seating. The staff is very friendly, and this appears to be a local hangout. The service is a bit laid back, but what the heck? Watch the action on the boardwalk or gaze out at the ocean. You will (with the help of a 2 for 1 Margarita) forget your cares in a hurry!

Drinks and food were good, view of the beach was what we stopped for! Burgers are good! Nachos were good! Nothing to really complain about!

We visited as a party of 5; 3 adults & 2 kids around 10am. Our server was Rebecca. She was very sweet but they kept her extremely busy. Be patient & you’ll have no issues. When we arrived, there was no wait but the restaurant filled up with a wait shortly after we arrived, so go before 10am. The hostess found us the last table along a window to accommodate my hopes for an ocean view & the boys hopes to have a brunch cocktail (can only be served within the building, not at the sidewalk tables). There isn’t a kids menu so both kids (11-y/o twins) ordered pancakes. My DH & I each ordered the egg white & grilled chicken omelet. Our oldest son (24) ordered the bread burrito. The food was slow getting to us but was great once it arrived. Just a tip...go VERY hungry or order to share. The pancakes are a 3-stack about as big around as a volleyball. We took two from each plate to-go & the kids ate them for breakfast for the next 2 days. The burrito is reminiscent of a chipotle burrito...HUGE! We took 1/3 of that to go as well. The omelets were a little strange. We’re used to the eggs & goodies being mixed & cooked together. These were basically a shell of egg-white draped over the spinach, tomato, & chicken. Still quite good but hard to get a bite with a bit of everything in it. Would we return? Reasonably priced & right on the beach.....definitely!

Great spot on the Beach. Try and sit up front so you can people watch while you enjoy your food and drink . Food is good not insanely delicious. Solid . Staff solid . busy. Your paying for atmosphere . Keep that in mind . Prices are reasonable .

We found this nice little bar and a patio right on the Boardwalk & across from the ocean. Although we didn't eat here we saw some great looking Bar food! We sat there until the sun went down; Their Happy Hour special was 2 (same) drinks for the price 1. I had two “Stone” IPA and my Corino had frozen “Coconut Margaritas” ($29us/ $39Can). A popular place and a great view!

We stopped in the Baja Beach Cafe so my husband could have a quick breakfast. As soon as the waitress (Rebecca) found out that we were not going to order alcoholic drinks she basically blew us off. My husband's breakfast was ok, nothing fabulous but a decent basic breakfast. I only ordered toast and coffee, my toast was cold, she only brought me one type of jelly, orange, which I don't care for, and my coffee, had coffee grounds in it. We couldn't get her attention for a different type of jelly or a refill for my coffee, thus the reason for me finding the coffee grounds. I had lunch at Baja previously which was why I took my husband there. I will not be back after the shabby service we received this visit. The bill wasn't huge but we still tip and we were fast so the table opened up quickly. Please, someone train this waitress

Our service was good. The margarita (frozen) was weak & w chunky ice...ew. The shrimp taco was good as well as the tiajua burger & burrito. Good view. Can sit outside & watch the ocean. Average at best. The nacho chips tasted pretty good but overall average & overpriced. ($75 for 3 people w/2 soft drinks, and one margarita).

Stopped here for lunch on the first day of our vacation. The tables are very close and no one wears their mask (I know we are outside but you could wear one when traveling inside the building or between tables). Ordered a TJ margarita. The menu said you could ask for a 32 ounce upgrade - which I didn't. Received one anyways. The drink was 1/2 sprite and tasted like it had very little tequila. My fish tacos were good, his chicken street tacos were more onion than chicken and smothered in salsa that wasn't very flavorful. Service was friendly. Not sure I would come back here.

Fish/shrip tacos!!! B1G1 free margaritas. But honestly it's cheaper to get one large fishbowl. It's within walking distance.

My daughter and I went here for dinner this week while in San Diego visiting colleges. We sat in the indoor portion of the restaurant. It was at least 10 minutes before anyone came over, so when someone finally did we decided to place our entire order - we ordered an appetizer (nachos) and each ordered an entree (calamari steak and a chicken burrito). It took another 10 minutes for our drinks to come and then all of the food came at one time. Everything was so yummy (the calamari steak was fabulous), but the service kind of ruined the whole experience for us.

You can't walk past the Baja Beach Café without staring longingly at the lucky patrons sipping gi-normous margarita glasses full of colourful goodness! We just had to stop and imbibe - my strawberry margarita on the rocks was fabulous!!! Also a great spot beachside to people watch as you slowly sip away the morning!

No prices on the menu but margaritas were $24!! Took our cars when we went it so no chance to find out before ordering. Better to just go somewhere else!!

Great breakfast burritos. Huge, easily could have split between two people. It is classic old cafe . Outdoor seating was a bit uncomfortable since you sit on stools without a back. But nothing we couldn’t handle. The beach music playing is nice. Our server was nice and very good. A nice smile goes a long way.

We could not resist the charming, local, funky Baja Beach Cafe right on Pacific Beach. I had been there years ago but forgot how amazing the margaritas are. You seriously will not believe how HUGE the margaritas are. Who cares about the food, just go for the scene and the HUGE margaritas!

Service was excellent and the food wonderful!! the view is spectacular, it is right on the strand, the people watching is fun.

Another place that requires Puerto Ricans to hold a passport for entry. Apparently not aware PR is part of the United States.

This place has huge 2 for 1 margarita happy hours (lunch, afternoon, and late night). We stopped in, but after being there quite a while with no server stopping by, we finally decided to leave and go somewhere else. In fairness to the server, they looked to be very understaffed.

We ate here twice because we wanted to see how both their breakfasts were and their dinners. We were underwelmed both times. The servers were good, although for dinner, it took us at least 10-15 min. to get a server. They have some interesting meal choices which got us excited but in the end, our take was they were more concerned with getting the drinkers in the cafe rather than focus on great food.. I think with a little more focus on the food and preparation they could be great. Love the location.

Clean glasses, breathable air. That's not asking too much. The smell was awful, every time the breeze blew through, the smell of rotten crab filled our nostrils. Everything in the place was sticky. Thankfully we stopped short of food with just beer. Luckily alcohol kills bacteria.

Worse than the non-existent service was the bland food. How can chicken fajitas be bland? A beef burrito was awful and it was not possible to distinguish what was in it. The dry rice tasted boxed and the re-fried beans were surely canned. Our waiter was totally inattentive- we had to get our own water re-fills. He promised he would lite our outdoor fire pit but after waiting fifteen minutes we gave up and found an indoor table. He did have time to ask for our credit card as soon as we sat down- they keep your car until the dinner is over. We understood why after our experience.

We came down from Carlsbad to walk to beach in PB, stumbled into the Baja Beach Cafe. We must have came at the right time as we found a spot at the end of the bar inside. The service was great, and the food was even better. Perfect spot for a Bloody Sunday and Lunch. They made a spicy bloody, which was great. A great menu with lots of options. We enjoyed a fresh shrimp salad and mahi-mahi sandwich which were both excellent tasting. We finished our meal as the place started to pack up. My suggestion to management in regards to the menu is that you should have chips and salsa be complimentary, instead of charging $3. Nobody likes to be nickel and dimed for chips. My only hiccup was when the bartender asked me if I wanted to open the tab at the beginning of the meal, I said "yes" and gave her my debit card, but specifically said I'd like to pay cash. She acknowledged my request and said it was no problem. The check came, I laid down cash and sure enough my debit card has been authorized for the amount. She was nice enough to apologize and tell me her manager reversed it, but then when I asked for a copy of the receipt showing that the charge was reversed the manager she said she couldn't provide it said I was just going to have to trust her. Not a big deal and yes, the authorization did drop off but it's the attention to detail that I notice, the managers response could have used more empathy and sincerity if you ask me. I would have given an "Excellent" rating had this not happened. Billing error aside, a great spot on the beach! On the boardwalk on this side of PB near this restaurant it is very crowded. The bike/skateboard lane of the boardwalk IS the walking lane too, which does make for a crazy environment when packed with beach-goers. Trust me, you'll notice the packed walkway and almost claustrophobic feel as the cement call and the buildings cram everyone together. We almost got hit a couple of times by both bicycles and skateboards and we were simply trying to walk south down the beach. There are better spots in north county where the bike/skate lane is separate from the walking lane. A fun spot in PB though, check it out!

Location is the reason for this restaurant, formerly The Green Flash. One can sit out on the veranda and watch the waves from the Pacific roll in. Breakfast, lunch, dinner are available. One should not expect gourmet food here. But it is a friendly place. The biggest minus here is the emphasis on alcohol. One does not have to drink, though, and one comes here just to enjoy the atmosphere.

We stopped here for appetizers and two for one's and it was busy! Great little spot on the ocean that was cute, had good drinks and good food. Would def rec it.

I had the brie and spinach omlette..a bit dry and bland. Glad there was Tabasco and Chiluhah sauce. My spouse had the breakfast burrito was tasty. Hash browns are the frozen kind so not freh and tasty. Stop on for a drink maybe a snack and it will be fine

Lunch and beer facing the beach is good! Salad, sandwich and fries were excellent, service friendly if slowish, and we loved the boardwalk/beach vibe.

We stopped in for lunch and were happy to get a table on the patio. Beautiful location overlooking the boardwalk towards the ocean. Great food and large portions- you won’t leave hungry. Very reasonable prices as well!

Right on the beach, breakfast was very good, background music if great for the beach style location. Giant size margarita is a good way to get the day started if you’re on vacation.

We stopped for lunch and ended up with the burger and an egg/cheese sandwich - the food was ok, but that’s all. The waitresses were not that friendly and attentive and looked definitely annoyed, when we asked for a couple of knives, as we were only given forks. The views are great....we sat outside by the front to look directly onto the boardwalk and the beach.

Good food. Rather pricey, but worth it because of the quality. This was the Green Flash restaurant. It's extremely loud in this restaurant so if you're under 25, you would not enjoy the music that why I've done take out every time.

We loved the decor, the music was always on and the setting is a dream if you want to be in the middle of the Pacific Beach scene! We enjoyed the breakfast burrito!

2 for 1 drinks are advertised for happy hour. No prices are listed on menu and you have to get both drinks at the same time! Prices are highly inflated but you won’t know that until you get your check, because, well prices aren’t listed. An example is the beer which turns out to be $11 each! Also, food is very mediocre. Only positive I can say is fun atmosphere and good service

I'm a dive bar guy and there's a lot to like about the BBC but it was a bit of an off day for them; thus the 4 vs 5 which it easily could have been. Chill, SoCal vibe right on the boardwalk. Can't beat the location and feel. Portions are massive. We brought out-of-town visitors and it was a beautiful day so we wanted to dine outdoors but were told by an indifferent male bartender that we'd have to dine inside because they only had one server on. The server, Quinn, was delightful and was really hustling but she had a lot of tables so the service was pretty slow.

Went for a few drinks with the inlaws, what a mistake, Over priced drinks to start then no salt on a whiskey sour, what the f

Great location on the beach walkway, but the place was a bit noisy on the Friday nite we visited so we opted for take-out and went back to our friends' beach cottage a block away. We had tacos, the blue "maytag" burger, and some apetizer (forgot the name). All was tasty but prepare to spend about $90 + for dinner for 4.

Great place, great food and awesome people. We had the fish tacos and the boardwalk brie. Let me tell you, the boardwalk brie was the best hamburger in my 47 years on this earth. Also Dupree, the waiter made the experience wonderful. We are visiting from Kansas City and it was refreshing to have a waiter that was so positive and helpful. Thank you all so much!!!

We ate at BBC with our three children (8,8 & 6) and it was very good. They didn't have a specific children's menu, but that was just fine because the kids could get tacos, chicken strips and other finger food. The chicken strips were breaded and were crispy and good; unique breading unlike everywhere else. I had the shrimp tacos and they were very good, along with the gigantic margarita! While I can't say that our server was the friendliest person on the planet, she did her job. The café is located right on the boardwalk at Pacific Beach just south of the main lifeguard station and pier. The outdoor patio (where we sat) has heaters and is surrounded by glass so you could still see the beach and ocean views. I would return to this place next time I'm at Pacific Beach.

Breakfast Burrito ! Queso with some quac, pico and chips A group of 4 ladies ate here 3 mornings in a row for a reason- the food was fantastic Has a great vibe. Can't wait to return here next time I am back

Lovely spot to watch the sun go down, but I wouldn't go back for the food. We shared the lobster taquitos for an appetizer and it was a bunch of melted cheese in a fried wrapper. I couldn't taste lobster at all. There were lots of good greens with it, so it almost worked if you considered the taquitos croutons for a salad. I had the Calamari salad as a wrap and it could really have used some acid to balance out the sweetness of the raspberry vinaigrette - much too sweet. My husband had the grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich which was good. Service was a bit on the slow side (but it was busy).

We stopped here 2 days in a row. The first day we only had a beer, which is pricey. The 2nd day we split the Breakfast Burrito which had bacon and avocado in it and was very neatly wrapped and easy to eat. We ordered a 1/2 price bottle of a quality Chardonnay because they are 1/2 off on Wednesdays. We sat outdoors on the patio and enjoyed our time there and the food and drink and the service is very friendly.

We wanted lunch overlooking the ocean. Street parking only, which was non-existent. Once we found a parking spot there was no waiting to be seated. Great local place with lots of beach ambiance and a view of the ocean. The largest size and selection of different margaritas I have ever seen. Food and service was very good. I think the 6.9% surcharge added to your bill for living wage increase is absurd. Raise the price for the food to cover the wage cost increase. The surcharge results in a reduced tip or no tip at all for the waitress/waiter. We dine out several times a week in the San Diego area and this is the largest surcharge for minimum wage we have seen. Some are 3% but most restaurants have removed the "Living wage" surcharge. I won't be back until the surcharge is removed.

My family's first dinner in San Diego was at Baja Beach Cafe and it was the perfect end to a great day. Ate a great meal and watched the sun set on the ocean. The food is good. The atmosphere is interesting, but might not be your thing if you don't like it crowded. It is a small place with not much room between you and the table next to you, but it makes up for it with the food. Prices are fair and service is friendly. The only thing negative is my daughter order the cervesa battered chicken and it was a little over done.

This pink and green Hawaiian beach shack has a great party vibe at all hours. Bustling boardwalk meet spot that offers giant margaritas, whopper nachos plates and prime rib sandwiches. Heavy emphasis is placed on the drinks menu. The mega margaritas come any way you style it. The Reuben or the Prime BLT Sandwiches are slow roasted to retain a juicy and tender texture. Fajitas large servings to feed at least 2 or more persons. Bar area indoors is typically swarming with noise levels reaching uncomfortable levels. Recommend outside seating since it is first come first serve. Try coming during non peak times. Before 4pm and take advantage of 2 for 1 drinks and after 7 :30 pm and enjoy the sunset. Brunch is also served here but only the morning after burger is a standout. Vegetarian diets can be satisfied here. Groups would have tough time to find seating unless during non peak hours. Open till 2 am.

Try this again. The drinks were a bit overpriced, but that's to be expect on the beach. Chips and Salsa was good, but didn't get to try the other food. Would love to try the skinny tacos. The food prices seemed reasonable.

We stopped here at least 3 times during our 5 day stay. Food was great and reasonably priced. Drinks were delicious. Great location. They had the sports games on inside that we were looking to watch. Great place, make sure you stop here if in Mission Beach!

It's a full patio with Happy Hour and watching the parade of beach goers being a big draw - share a table to meet others, and try one of the giant margaritas. Good value, but not super cheap....sunsets are free! Food is pub fare.......good sized portions, Mexican themed, tasty and reasonable in price

We ate here a couple of times. Each time our service was great and our food never let us down. Excellent grilled calamari steak. Can get a bit crowded.

Lovely cocktails, lovely food, lovely friends. Manager was so so so angry. Made our group feel very very uncomfortable!

Really enjoyed the mahi mahi tacos. Very flavorful and fresh. Generous margaritas and good service. Busy place right on the boardwalk in pacific beach

Quintessential beach fare! We’ve been there twice: Great beach breakfast and excellent mega margaritas. Be sure to get there for sunset and maybe even a fire table. Special shout out to Cori and Simin for being great servers.

Came to San Diego with friends. After beers at Lahaina, we stopped at Baja Beach Cafe and ordered drinks. They were terrible and expensive! My wife ordered a margarita that was awful. It was watery and It was supposed to have Grand Marnier, but it didn’t look it. Told the waitress and she agreed that it didn’t look like it had Marnier… she took it back to get the shot. The other couple didn’t like their drinks either. The cucumber margarita seemed to have no tequila… the virgin strawberry colada was terrible and my buddy wouldn’t drink it. Also, not enough restrooms for the crowd. Yeah, won’t be going back.

We went there in the late afternoon and the waitress recommended the shrimp tacos. And boy was she right. They are the best that I have ever had. I would also recommend the queso dip with chips.

Yesterday a "Guilt-Free Chicken BLT" wrap that was delicious and why I went back today. Today I tried the "Paradise Pesto Chicken" wrap that claimed to be "smothered in cilantro pesto". It contained not a drop. And what little chicken it contained was extremely dried out. I got it to go, so can't simply send it back. My review would have been better, if I submitted yesterday. Everything was better, even though the place was packed. Now I won't be going back.

Delicious food and friendly staff, but they seemed under staffed it took too long to take our order, and too long to bring the bill. The upside was the food was definitely the very tasty food and the giant delicious margaritas!!

When on vacation we always try to find the local watering hole...Baja Beach was perfect! We met locals and travels all fun to talk with and get the local feel! The drinks were good and the staff very friendly. We also got lucky one morning to enjoy a Bloody (very tasty) out front on the deck!

The view and location from the patio are what made this place memorable..you can't beat eating breaky while watching the beach/ocean. The food was good, smaller portions. No iced coffee/cold drip which would have made this place amazing. The service was good, not great (really friendly but slightly forgetful).

Worst Service, no food after an hour.. We love visiting the beach in PB. But bad services, no food after an hour and no apology nor even an excuse. We have been to Baja Beach for bad drinks and bad food before..but it had been some time. Whilewe hoped it would be better, especially after tourist season - they sunk to new lows! We were here on a Saturday evening, but not overly busy. We got a table right away. The drinks are big, but very watered down and extra ice and fruit juice. The food is mostly comfort junk food (but tends to be on the bad side - w extra Velveta). In future , I will go to Workd Famous (50 yes away). Enjoy the view!

So glad we picked this spot! The food was excellent, service was great and its Right on the boardwalk so you get to watch beach activity and the sunset - Excellent choice!! I'd highly recommend the stuffed chicken sandwich appetizer!!

We were staying nearby and on a morning 5 mile walk. We decided to stop and have a Bloody Mary and mid-morning breakfast. We weren’t really sure what to expect since the food was being served on disposable plates. I tell you…it was the best waffle I’ve ever had! I had the Belgian waffle with fresh berries on top and whip cream. Oh my! It was amazing! My husband prime rib omelet. He raves about it! The Bloodies were good too! I’d highly recommend this relaxed place with awesome food!

After a morning of biking around, we stopped off for a drink and some Tacos! We sat on the deck overlooking the boardwalk. What a great spot to chill out, enjoy some food, a cocktail and people watch. There was nothing to dislike about this place. It does exactly what it says on the tin!

spent my birthday here for the week ,brilliant staff and wonderful locations ,happy hour was a bargain ,looking forward to returning from UK for my wifes birthday ,if you are in the area ,visit and you will not be dissapointed

Happy Hour was 2 for one drinks and I got the classic Margarita and snagged a nice spot at the bar window being as the front patio was jammed packed. Also had a good burger with house-made potato chips. It was pricey as they do add in a surcharge - they claim that way they don't have to raise their prices to pay the wait staff but I still left my usual tip. It actually was saner sitting at the side window bar but still had a view.

We had the hamburger/fries and a friend had the chips and salsa- really great food and of course the margarita's are fantastic- a little lite on the alcohol but the flavor was really good. .

Food was average to bad, beer is served I n plastic glasses, tasteless guacamole, service is good and ambience is laid back

Terrible service and incredibly rude waitress + manager. The guy on the door apologized to us as we were practically pushed out the door before we finished our drinks which cost over $20 each (There was 7 of us with unfinished drinks). We were informed by the manager that she needed to clear the place of people like us. They were perfectly happy with us there till they took our money and then informed us we weren't welcome while we had full drinks in front of us at 5pm in the day so none of us were any bit drunk. We were only in San Diego for a week and this was our only bad experience. Drinks and food were lovely but would advise avoiding this bar due to bad atmosphere created by the rudest manager I've ever exerienced.

We had breakfast here and it was delicious! The service was fantastic and it has an awesome view of the boardwalk and the Ocean! The Margaritas are huge and $20 dollars, multiple flavors. We will go back here again!

I have been to San Diego many, many times, but I surprised my friend down there this time. We spent the morning laying out on the beach, and we were getting hungry around 1pm. After walking down the strand a bit, we stumbled upon Baja Beach Cafe. It is a cute little restaurant right on the strand overlooking the beach. There are tables inside and outside, with windows that open up inside so it is very breezy in there. When we walked in, we got menus and we sat down at a table by a window. After waiting for 15 minutes, we tracked someone down to get our waitress. We ordered drinks and food right away (because we didn't know how long we would have to wait again). We got our chips and salsa pretty quickly but did not receive our drinks (3 waters) for about 20 minutes. We looked at the margarita menus and decided to order one to share-from a different waitress since ours went missing for a long time. We got our food and it was delicious, but our waitress was still nowhere to be found. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my friend ordered the mahi mahi tacos. Everything was very good, but we did not get our margarita until we were almost done with our food. We were going to send it back, but the waitress told us that it would be free for waiting so long. Thank goodness we only ordered one, because it was plenty to share. Although the food and drinks were good, I would not return due to the service. She was constantly disappearing to the back, and she never came to check on us once we got our food. There are plenty of restaurants with great food in San Diego, so you can skip this one.

Great atmosphere right on the boardwalk. The nachos are excellent and we also tried the margaritas. There are so many flavours to choose from but I went with mango in the end. We had the standard size but they were so good we came back another day for the mega size. Great place and worth a stop.

Perfect spot for lunch right on the beach. Friendly service. Good large portion nachos. Delicious prime rib Rueben sandwich and grilled cheese. Weak pomegranate margarita.

Right on the boardwalk! Stopped for a snack and drinks. Loved the the chicken fingers and fries. Shared one of their signature margaritas, wow! Great atmosphere! Definitely would go back!

Great location, service, food and DRINKS!! Huge 36oz margaritas. It’s been years since I’ve been here and it’s still at good place to grab a bite.

Great location right on the beach is the best thing about this place. The atmosphere is chaotic, cheap beach party. The food gets a C- and was served on paper plates with plastic silverware. They offer about 25 different margaritas which are served in plastic cups sans salted rims. If you’re looking for a beach party, this is your place. If you’re looking for good food, look elsewhere.

Nice little spot, right on Pacific Beach. Food is good and staff are awesome. Check on the “value” of their 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour. I think they were very overpriced, but, that is my only knock of the place

The nachos are amazing, the drinks are delicious, their breakfast is great and the view is spectacular. I love going here. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful hot margarita (lots of jalapeno slices) - ordered a couple of appetizers - the basket of chichen strips is about the size of a chicken!

If you want to take photos here of yourself or anyone else. You wont be allowed to. The First Amendment Right doesn't exist. Owner isn't nice and the food is TERRIBLE! I flew back to New Zealand because this place is so bad

A nice friendly beach bar, extensive list of various massive margaritas & a happy hour of 2 for 1 drinks. Great for people watching

Found this place while walking along Pacific Beach. The place had a great atmosphere, great margaritas, and great food. We had the Baja street tacos and they were some of the best we had. We also got the Mucho Nachos with Chicken and that was meal in just itself. Great flavors. The staff was friendly. If the beach and people views are not enough for you there are a number of TVs showing the big game.

2 burgers and a plastic cup of wine and beer.... and $52 later... Food is just average... didn't appear, arrive or taste fresh to me. Service good but not many people there so you would expect good service. Perhaps this is acceptable for beachside restaurants in this part of San Diego but a few blocks in from the beach and you get better food without the high $$$. This is the kind of place that likes to keep your credit card hostage which perhaps is understandable in a seedy beach front scene, but doesn't convey confidence or trust with customers. Perhaps the homeless milling around forces this type of approach to customers. Waitresses were pleasant, well trained, but once they have your money.... where did they go? Advice here is to resist the beachfront allure for better food/cost elsewhere. You can stand here and watch the sun go down first, and then head inland a few blocks for better choices.

Went here with my family and we loved our entrees (steak tacos, fajitas, and quesadilla). The atmosphere and view are very good too. Queso was a bit watery and the guacamole could have used more flavor but the bean dip and salsa were great.

Though it is a challenge sometimes to get a spot on the patio, it is such a fun place if you can! We love the Mega Margaritas, and the fish tacos are the best around, and the Habanero sauce is second to none. Thank you so much Kelsey for your kindness and for taking such great care of us, multiple times! God bless!

awesome place to sit back and chill in the late afternoon; watch the sunset and enjoy the amazing margarita's. Happy hour is so worth it! Two for one. We both love the mellow taste of the cucumber margarita....heavenly! Also love sharing a fajita dinner, it is awesome!

If you are looking for a good breakfast spot on the water this is perfect. The service was great and the food was good too. They have seats inside and outside. Considering the location we were presently surprised on the quality of food for a reasonable the price.

Great service. Great atmosphere. Lauren lovely and excellent waitress. Food was excellent considering how busy the place is. Thank you xxx

Came here for a couple of drinks and ended up ordering wings as well. Service was easy and nothing beats the view! Recommend getting the margarita!

We were drawn in by the great music and beach atmosphere. Happy hour was 2 for one. I highly doubt there could have been an ounce of alcohol in any of our drinks. The margaritas were flavorless- like the ice of a sno cone when you’ve sucked out all the flavor. Fish burrito was just not that good. Large portions but whole thing felt sketchy. Good music was the best thing about it.

It was OK, but purely because it was directly by the beach, the food and drink was semi-resonably priced. However, the servers (in particular the waitresses) were extremely rude and I was shocked at how blatantly they asked for tips. Me and 6 friends went in and sat outside on a large circular table, which was more than able to accommodate all of us. The very first thing the first waitress said was (not even 'hello') "I need you to push in now please because you're in my way". Fair enough it is a bit of a tight squeeze out there, but it was said as if it was our fault?? Then throughout our time there she was unashamedly unfriendly and self-entitled. She served us drinks and food etc., until eventually she came over to us and said "ok my shift is ending, so I'll close off your tab and then the never server can re-open it". I didn't really understand the logic/hassle of paying two bills just because her shift was ending, so I stopped her as she was going by and asked could we just leave the tab open rather than have to waste time paying for a dinner/drinks we weren't done with. She looked at me as if I had 2 heads and said "oh but my shift is ending", I asked "what does that have to do with us?" And she flat out said it was because she wanted to get her tip. So we would have had to pay 2 sizable tips for the same dinner?? For absolutely terrible service??? No thanks. The next waitress was just as unfriendly and tip obsessed. She blatently rolled her eyes when we asked to pay on separate cards. I've never experienced anything like it in my life!

This used to be the Green Flash. It's one of the few places literally right on the PB boardwalk bordering the ocean. It is an open air divey beach bar that is known for a party atmosphere, Mexican food, and large margaritas. The burgers are horrid - overcooked, spicy, and overpriced as are the drinks. I ordered a straight house brand of bourbon - one shot, neat - and was shocked to get not only a very small portion but a bill for $8.50 for Maker's Mark. Stick with the view and don't expect much.

This beach bar sort of reminds me of Venice beach. Really fun atmosphere with a huge variation of margaritas from a jalapeño to a pink lemonade margarita. I didn’t have much of a lunch meal but the 4 dip chips and salsas were great. Bean, cheese, salsa and guacamole

The Baja Beach Grill advertises 2 for 1 pricing on drinks during certain hours. What they don't tell you is that the price for those drinks during happy hour is outlandish to begin with. Seriously, would you pay $10 for a small beer? Maybe it's worth it for 2 beers, if you happen to want 2. Maybe a single beer is priced at $5 when it's not happy hour? They get away with this scam by not putting pricing for beer or margaritas on the menu. There are prices for food on the menu, so why not for beer, wine, and margaritas? Before ordering anything that's not priced, be sure to ask your waiter or waitress the price. Don't fall for the 2 for 1 scam.

Service was good. The beach view was outstanding. A little crowded for seating on the patio. The tables ar very close together. Food was OK. Had a burrito that was so-so. Margarita was over priced. You are definitely paying for the view here.

Ate here twice and enjoyed both times. Appetizer portions were very generous. Tasty guac and salsa. My companion said the happy hour margs were delicious. Entree choices (kobe burger and steak fajitas) were okay. Prices were fair. Get there early for an outdoor seat for sunset and primo people watching.

Very good food in a fun atmosphere. Service was only average. Location can’t be beat — right on boardwalk.

I tasted the fish grilled Burritos and it was awesome. The cocktails are delicious too. Just little negativ point: we are French and didn't really understand the functionnement about the cocktail and the waitress didn't really explain us.

Took the wife for lunch and it sits right on the boardwalk and faces the beach. Place is decently priced and the food was great. I tried the Cabo burrito and started with chips and salsa.

Simple perfect small beach bar for drinks and eats while people watching of the boardwalk passers by and all the happy humans enjoying Sand Diegos's sun swept Pacific Beach

Perfect location and doesn’t try being anything it’s not. Big portions of food, great cocktails and super fast service. Your here for the vibe and the view but the food just makes it better

This cafe is right below the hotel I'm staying at and right on the boardwalk. I ordered the huevos rancheros and it was amazingly tasty and way too much for one meal! Made a great second meal!! I recommend this cute quaint spot to sit and relax while watching the waves and of course the people!!

The service was great but the food was awful! Should have known better than to order having seen the food coming out on plastic plates with plastic cutlery. It’s a real shame because the staff work hard to create a good atmosphere and the place was buzzing. But the food was awful and as such I couldn’t recommend anyone to eat here.

We truly enjoyed their rich, tasteful mega margaritas and Mexican meals served right at the beachfront. This place had nice, laid back atmosphere despite being really crowded.

No trip to Mission Beach or Pacific Beach is complete without a sunset at the Baja. It’s pure So Cal craziness. The Margaritas are big and 2 for 1 during happy hour. The food is excellent my favourite is definitely the Lobster tacquitos.

Great location - happy hour drinks - but go elsewhere for food . We ordered 2 glasses of wine at 7pm and it was happy hour so got two for the price of 1 ( 9 dollars I think for two - but it wasn’t great wine !) . We decided to order some food - I ordered some gluten free chicken tacos and my husband had a chicken burger . Crikey it was so bad !!! It’s hard to find really bad food in America but we did ! I left all my meal and the server didn’t even ask how it was ! Also plastic cups and plates / cutlery !!! Have a drink and move on elsewhere for your food.

Stopped in here to see the beautiful sunset on the outside patio. Great service and the Lobster Chowder is amazing.

They are always busy. Our server, Colleen, never came and asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. We had to ask the busboys for anything extra we needed. Food was ok and the drinks were good but pricey.

We had the Prime rib skillet and the vegetarian Fajita Skillet , and both were great. They came with toast or hash browns. The resto is on the beech, so people watching and sunsets are excellent.

Rude manager, I was over charged and the manager was very rude about it and refused to refund me. When I asked for my check the waitress gave me a verbal total with no check. It wasn’t until I asked for a check that I could see we were over charged. Where do you go out to eat and pay without being given a check before you pay?

Fish tacos, street tacos and cold beer with a perfect seat for sunset on the beach. Our 9 year old got a quesadilla that was a big as his head!

We got away from the Midwest winter to San Diego for a few days and spent the days walking, eating and drinking and enjoying the 60 degree sunshine. The Boardwalk is lined with hotels, B & B's and more bars and restaurants than you could count. I always think most are probably not that good since they cater to a constant stream of vacationers so don't worry so much about return customers!. As such, we stopped by Baja Beach to get a quick drink and a bite to eat. We were surprised how great the food was and of how well prepared and presented it was. We ate here twice, having the Fajitas for lunch and then coming back a few nights later for a burger. Each time the place was packed with people enjoying the beach. The fajitas came out hot and sizzling with lots of onions, peppers and chicken. They came with rice, beans and all the usual sides to top your tortillas. All was fresh and tasty and it was enough for two. The same for the burger which was topped with caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, spinach, lettuce on a great bun. The toppings spilled out there was so much and the burger was cooked perfectly. Clearly the kitchen staff is well run and they use great ingredients. Prices here after spending five days are about average; 11 to 16 for burgers and sandwiches and some entrees. The DOWN side? Drinks are ridiculous expensive!! BUT, they are ALL over this area. Their happy hour is really just "regular" prices at most places; $8-10 for two wells. Margaritas are very expensive but big @ $12-20 and I'm not sure there is that much booze in them. We enjoyed the energy and the staff was always friendly and welcoming which makes your stay there much better!! I would recommend this place anytime!!

This place is serves the best authentic food on the block. We eat here everytime we visit. It's a must. Sometimes a little busy with the younger crowd and if it's late you're going to see the security guy at the front but they all have that now. Great food and the breakfast is amazing. Highly recommend. Staff is very friendly and they are all helpful.

Little overpriced and understaffed, but other than that, we had a great lunch here. Fast food delivery, no wait time, excellent boardwalk patio, and tasty vegan tacos and French fries. I will note that those—and the chips and salsa and margaritas—are pretty much the only vegan options. We had a great server and host!

Great location, view of the ocean! The Margaritas? Stay away, $17 for terrible Margaritas. Ordered a raspberry/banana one...tasted like Margarita mix...no flavor. My friend ordered a key lime Margarita....tasted like Margarita mix. Supposedly 4 shots in each....I'm pretty sure that was an exaggeration. Asked for it frozen, was told there would be less tequila in it??? Did order Carne Asada fries and they were pretty good. With all the places around this one....keep walking....

The chicken Cantina Burrito was awesome. The banana desert was good too. The bartender was really nice. Good margarita special.

Good beach food with some interesting menu items. Cocktails large enough to share. Sit outdoors or inside both with views of beach. Friendly staff, lively and colorful decor. Extremely casual attire.

I might have liked this place better had it not been a windy 60 degree evening. The service was slow, the food was so so (I had the fish tacos), and it was too cold to be sitting outside. The limited indoor seating was full.

Ate dinner here one evening and food was just ok, nothing great. Drinks are rather expensive. Server was great and the view of the ocean is amazing.

Fantastic service but the food was horrendous. Portions size was good, steak was nice. Nachos were very mid, tacos were bland. Overall the food was bad, some of us are quite sick after it.

We ate a number of times here and each time the food was great. The margaritas were very good and there were a number of different flavors. Shout out to Stephanie our server for being friendly and fun.

The sunset rolls were very good. The chicken fajitas were average. It's what I would expect. The staff was too busy talking with other staff about some gossip. When I asked a question, she got upset and the manager came over. He corrected it but she still didn't come around her tables very much. Drinks sat empty. We left. On to another place to review.

We ate at the Baja Beach Café. My wife had a salad and it was good. I had the grilled fish tacos. These came with frozen breaded fillets that were not thawed. It was cold in the middle. When I complained how bad it was, the waitress said I am sorry and left. She then brought our bill back. I went on and paid and will never return.

I take many people here on a regular basis and normally have such a lovely time. Unfortunately the level of service on my last two visits with a particular server have been shocking. Arguing with the customer and speaking degradingly to us. It was absolutely unbelievable. And this is with a large bill of over 8-10 of us. And that’s twice in a row I have experienced the same behaviour from this sever. Once I could forgive but I will no longer eat and drink here or bring any friends.

Had a wonderful breakfast on the beach. Super juevos rancheros and great bloody Mary. Service was awesome. Fun to watch the people walk by on Pacific Beach.

Great location and fun outdoor area. Great place to watch a gorgeous sunset and people watch. Get the tacos, they are great!

The margaritas are huge and you’ll probably get a nice buzz off just one. I recommend the Tsunami Burger 🍔 and their carne asada fries are pretty bomb too.

My husband and I stopped here for some beers and lunch while bike riding through the area. We sat outside and had a great view of the boardwalk and beach! We each had a local beer ($7 each) but you are paying for the tourist area. We split the nacho appetizer ($10) which was huge and we couldn't even finish! They had a lot of margaritas and a very big menu. Good stop if in the area and want to eat by the beach.

This little place is right on the sand in Pacific beach. It’s fun, lively, casual, loud, lots of people, lively environment… For both a total array of drinks and some yummy food.

Located right on the beachfront, so great for people watching. Very casual, a typical beach bar, so you can walk in right off the beach for food and drinks. Service at the bar, even on a busy weekday, was prompt. Try their own brew - the Baja Light Lager!

If you're strolling the strand and find yourself near the Baja Beach Cafe around noon or later, this is a good place to stop and have a quick bite and drink. The patio is relaxing if there's space so definitely try to get a seat here if the weather's good. Tip: If you want a margarita and there's two of you, split one grande rather than order two regulars. The price is about the same but there's 4 shots of tequila in a grande vs 1 shot in a regular.

This is a must visit place each time I’m in San Diego. You can’t beat the ocean view while you sip on a delicious margarita first thing in the morning. I can’t choose a favorite margarita, they’re all so good. Food is also delicious!

Small place and not the best ambiance but on the beach. Good food and huge margaritas and many flavors. Calamari was good and seafood burrito was awesome.

Don't get me wrong, I love this place for drinks and food. It can be a bit pricey at times but over all good food. Except we wanted to try breakfast, I ordered what I always order for breakfast, eggs, bacon hash browns and toast. Well I didn't know toast was an extra 2 dollars for 2 slices. So I just ordered the bacon, eggs and hash browns. Let's just say, the eggs were ok but the bacon were small and not crunchy, the hash browns were hard and plastic like. I do not recommend, also the meal was 10 bucks. Go to the lil place Konos down the way and you get so much more for 10 bucks.

I love this place, in part because of its history as the Green Flash. They still have the same, excellent fish tacos I remember, excellent views, great drinks, and friendly service. I highly recommend this, and would choose it over World Famous (which is still good - just not as good) down the boardwalk.

Great location right on the boulevard. Offers smoke free outside seating which we like. I guess I judge a Mexican place harshly based upon their chips and salsa and sadly I wasn’t impressed by them. The chips were a little too thick. The salsa and guacamole were just average and didn’t stand out in any way. On a positive note the fish tacos were good.

Food was just ok, drinks are good. We had Bloody Mary's which were full of vegetables. Three olives, limes, cucumber slice and celery, a meal itself. Prime rib omelette was ok, tasted like leftover prime rib which more than likely it was. Breakfast burrito was good when you added the salsa. I wanted to try the fish tacos but we arrived too early. I would go back if in the area.

The view was awesome if you can take sitting in the sun, or else opt for the covered patio seating. Good food and extensive menu. No lunch before noon for you - which was a bummer at 11:30 ! Lame Bloody Mary! Service was ok. Go for the view and the tacos! VictorB
Great place for breakfast
Our family had breakfast here and it was great...good food and big portions. Service was excellent and a great view of the ocean from where we sat.
