Only people who do not know about real Mexican food give 5 stars

By Manuel_Bravo |

Whoever came up with the recipes for this "Mexican Restaurant" has no idea on how to prepare Mexican food. I, as a true Mexican, knows about such flavors and this food is way at the bottom. Expensive and bad. Not much to say, only that you would be better off going to a real Mexican restaurant. I asked for the "signature meals = carnitas plate". The driest and most awful "carnitas" ever. Maybe they should take a trip to Quiroga, Uruapan or Sahuayo Mexico to try they real carnitas.

Great place to eat and people watch!

I always make time for Betty's. the service is really friendly and the food great. Really love the fish tacos and queso. People just seem to be having such a great time here and it really have an energy.

Great spicy Margarita!

By Aprilp2412 |

LOVED Baja Betty's! Maybe I was drunk and happy and am remembering it better than it actually was but I don't think so. Even if that is the case, oh well, nothing wrong with that! We sat at the bar and had drinks and a good time. I first had a margarita, cant remember the name but it was a flavored one and it was alright. I then ordered their spicy margarita, I also cant remember the name but it was spicy and wonderful so I stuck with that. Definitely not for those who cant handle their spice. We also had some of their bean dip which is one of the best things ever. If you are a bean dip fan as I am you will love this. As far as the restaurant itself, I enjoyed it. The bar is fun and has a cool little hut type thing around it that makes you feel like you were in Mexico. The restaurant is larger than it looks and everyone was very nice. The most important thing is that everyone seemed to be having a great time. I will for sure be back, hopefully soon.

Great place

First time here, stopped in for lunch on our way to Balboa Park. Good lunch specials at a really affordable price. Saul was our server and he was the best!! Went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. Will definitely go back.

Very impressed

By Paul W |

What a place! Went here while visiting our kids in San Diego and are glad we did. Our server Chris was very attentive and on top of his game. The chips and salsa was excellent as well as my 2 item sampler with the Chile relleno and taquitos. They don’t offer pork tamales but the chicken tamales the wife ordered were very good. The kids ordered fajitas, one chicken and one carne asada and they were both delicious. If you’re in the area stop in and you won’t regret it!

Excellent Food Option for Foodies

By Rocky F |

Greating staff were excellent. We were seated promptly. Recommendations were on point and very tasty. The drink variety was super.

Absolutely wonderful!

I was in San Diego over my birthday weekend and stopped here several times on my trip. This place has delicious food, amazing drinks, and a great atmosphere. Next time I'm in SD I'll definitely be stopping back by!

Love the margaritas...the service is always excellent

By ButterflyBesos |

So I was hanging out with some of my co-workers and we needed some time to kill before we went to the movie theater. I suggested Baja Bettys for happy hour and the hot weather made perfect for a margarita. Once we got there it was somewhat busy and were lucky to get the last 3 seats at the bar. Our bartender was Saul and he is just the best!!! No matter how busy he was he always made time to come and check on us, make sure we were doing okay and asking if we needed anything. He was so pleasant and made sure our drinks were to our liking. We didn't order any food but i have been here many times before and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon. The food is delish...I recommend their baja fries they are awesome. This is my favorite place to get my fix of quality fruity drinks and for the price they are just heavenly.

Fun place, good food, average service

By Sarthak M |

Stopped by here for after visiting the San Diego zoo. We were told to take a seat and wait for a table to open up. However, while waiting, another couple walked in and were immediately seated because our server was MIA. After this mistake was rectified we were seated in a corner which made it impossible to get the server's attention. I had to call him over each time to order drinks, appetizers, etc. I was not impressed with the service. However, this is likely due to miscommunications among the staff, because they were really friendly and tried to make up for the earlier mistakes. Mistakes happen, but I was pleased that they tried to make up for it. The food great, excellent prices and variety. We had a good time overall despite the initial server issues. Would go back and would recommend.

People make all the difference!

By christopherpL3023JN |

People make all the difference! Not going out often as usual, it was such a treat to start our visit off with Olivia’s fun-hearted welcome. Server Hugo carried it though, taking awesome care of us along with others in the crew including Alec. What a great, safe night out! Thank you, Mo’s Universe!!🏳️‍🌈🕺🦄🎉

Fun atmosphere, tasty food!

By Michael S |

One of my favorite places for mexican food, Betty's is a lively and sometimes noisy place that's a lot of fun. The food is tasty, I especially am a fan of the carnitas. The servers are friendly and attentive, good service! Nice bar area and plenty of seating. Great for dinner out, or a party. Love the cheese dip!

Best Taco Tuesday!

By AliciaB40 |

The food here is awesome. Flavorful, nice portions, and great drinks. Even the street tacos are amazing.

Always delicious

By xsv_66 |

The place is a lot of fun and the food is delicious! the drinks are good and the food is always ready fast, perhaps the only thing that may be certain people uncomfortable is that fact that 90% of the staff is gay. and sometimes they can be over the top and crazy even with straight customers so be aware of that. *Parking is a pain

Absolutely fabulous

By Mike P |

From the time we arrived to the very first chip we knew the rest was going to be fabulous the food was off the charts the service and staff incredible fabulous is all we can say try it you will not be disappointed !!

Loved it! Great service, super fun atmosphere, delicious food. Happy hour can't be beat! Can't wait to come back! We brought our 1 year old who was so entertained by the fun crowd and pumping music.

This place is fun and great food!

By Ndalsteve |

We stopped by for a "snack" as we had a late breakfast. It was during their happy hour so we ordered the fish tacos. They were happy hour price of 4.00 for three tacos, we ended up ordering more! they were very good and the service was great! We have found another great place to eat in San Diego.

Delicious Dinner. Adorable Andy. Kind Kevin.

By FayeCooke |

The enchiladas were YUM! I had the chicken and carnitas with refried beans. I enjoyed the vodka-rita, and the delight of sitting at the bar. Great music as well!

We went here looking for some Mexican food!

By Eric J |

We went here looking for some Mexican while near the border. Our server was great and it was a great experience. Food was amazing as I had a build your own burrito and my girlfriend had a quesadilla. Plenty food and took sole back with us for a second meal.

Fun

By jkzoo |

Went here on the advice of a friend and although out was early on a Thursday night with not much of a crowd we really loved the place. Heather was great and became our new best friend. Nice menu and selection of beers and from what we are guild the best margaritas in town.

Mediocre Mexican food.

By Lonnie K |

Went for lunch mid December 2021. I have lived in San Diego for many years and eaten at many Mexican restaurants. This was only about average. The carintas was tough and the crispy taco shell was not crispy. Loved the Queso dip sauce. Service was fast and friendly. We probably will not go back.

Fun, lively, decent food, strong drinks!

Place for the gay locals and gay supporters. Always busy. Only reason why four stars is that the food is not super authentic, though it is good. Always a fun time to mingle or just people watch.

Try the Tijuana Dog

By CLuv36 |

Cheap eats at Baja Betty's and lovely staff made out visit a good one. We tried the appetizer fries with meat and added refried beans to it. Fries were good and enough to share. We also tried their Tijuana Dog - a mexican twist to the classic hot dog which we also shared and it was delicious a little bit on the spicy side but so very good and the potato chips that it came with were made fresh to order. Definitely a good place to check out for good drinks and great food. Definitely a place to check out during a trip to San Diego or anytime. A local favorite.

Every time you go, it's a guaranteed good time. Food is delicious, drinks are amazing ..... Mexican joint done REAL RIGHT.

Excellent food

By AnielaS |

Fresh guacamole is made right at the table with an option to choose ingredients. It was a little difficult to get a table outside but the food is amazing.

Wow!

We dines here pretty late on a weekday evening. The portions were huge! and very filling! which was great! Service was great too, fast and efficient.

Hits on all cylinders

By KDUB7 |

We adjourned to Baja Betty's after a day-long board meeting, and we were not disappointed. Food was great (Mexican food in SD had better be good!) and the service was really excellent. Our group of 10 enjoyed a variety of appetizers and entrees, and cocktails/mocktails (virgin margarita, anyone?). There are a lot of places to choose from in this part of SD, but you won't go wrong with Baja Betty's.

Great Service

By Lynn4four |

We went for happy hour & we were very, very HAPPY! Scotty was our waiter & he was the best server ever! We were a group of 7 ladies ranging from the age of 2 months to 91 years - he treated 6 of us like princesses & one like a queen! Food & drinks were fabo – we had a great time.

Baja Betty's Happy Hour Never DIsappoints!

By mikeywaz |

Baja Betty's, in the heart of San Diego's eclectic Hillcrest neighborhood, has the best happy hour deals in town. $4 will get you a house margarita or a delicious carnitas quesadilla or three of the best fish tacos around. The bar staff is friendly and personable and the atmosphere is always entertaining.

A must visit

By floydntexas |

Great food... great drinks... great service. No complaints except that I wish it stayed open longer in the night.

Tacos and Margaritas

By TravelBoomerang |

While we had to wait for 45 minutes for a table, it was well worth it! Our server was engaging and professional and the food and drinks were great. Would absolutely go back.

Great burrito, not so great tortilla soup

By alan h |

disappointed with the tortilla soup. was kind of bland and didn't have that flavorful kick. never had potatoes in tortilla soup before. The burrito with pork was great though as well as their chips and salsa.

Hell yes!!

By Sheldon P |

Fun restaurant, very good drinks and atmosphere, a good time with good food! We came here with some friends, had a few drinks and a few different plates of food - everyone left happy!

Upbeat, friendly, and tasty!

By ilovetotravel |

Had dinner here with my 16-year-old son. The atmosphere was upbeat, lively and friendly! Cedric was one of the best servers I have ever had in any restaurant anywhere! He was knowledgeable and very attentive on a busy night. The Taco Tuesday specials were great, and food was served quickly. The skinny margarita was delicious. And if you like spicy, try the inferno salsa!

Happy Hour

By Julianah M |

Love coming here, it's like being in New Orleans. Great happy hour atmosphere. My go to drink when here is a blended mango margaritas. If you catch this place during happy hour you can enjoy for like 2.50. Staff is always friendly. Definitely stop while in Hillcrest. Dogs are welcome on patio.

Fun Place--Friendly Folks--Great Food and Drink

By Frenchmanscove |

Title says it all. Four of us seated quickly in the bar area on a busy Tostado Tuesday....$2 tostatos, $2 shots of tequila and $2 stubby Buds. Guacamole was worth getting....the chips are wonderful. I had an assortment of the tostados....the shredded beef were my fav and ended up ordering one more. My first time at BB's but will be back in San Diego in March and will pay a visit on St Pat's weekend!

Fun spot

By 60004Kathy |

Sharon server was a good waiter and tour guide. She gave us suggestions for the area. We ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole. The guacamole came with a bunch of fixings where you could add tomatoes, jalapenos, etc. yourself. The fajitas and the grilled mahi tacos were good. We took some hot salsa back to the Airbnb with us--wow, it was hot. We are a family who eats hot foods. It kicked all 6 of our butts.

Makes this a destination when in San Diego

By Hans Hirschi |

A gay Mexican restaurant? YES! The food is amazing, the service personable, and don't leave the place without having made your own guacamole. I went there with friends on the first night in San Diego and I loved it so much that I returned. I've eaten a couple of different items from the menu and they were really good, in fact the fish tacos were to die for. Depending on the night, it gets crowded and loud, but the atmosphere is really friendly and upbeat. If you go with friends for a great night out, this is definitely the place for you. Whenever I return to San Diego, this is going to be on the top of my list of places to go!

Just a good restaurant

By DesertDom |

Cheeky servers, good food, fun atmosphere and great drinks made for a very fun time! BB is consistently good and in the heart of Hillcrest making touring the area very easy.

Good food but unexpected ambience.

By David K |

We looked for a well reviewed restaurant on the way back from the airport. Didn’t realize it at first but it is very gay-friendly. The food was quite good. Fish tacos were among the best I had lately but it was not a large portion. Chicken enchilada was also good. Rice and beans were the best we have had in years.

Baja Betty's was one of the few restaurants that are open after 7. The food was tasty the servers work friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was good and the cost was reasonable.

Party Place with Good Food!

By Fallbrookian |

Even though I'm a senior citizen and not usually attracted to loud and raucous crowds, my kids have dragged me to this place to celebrate birthdays---it's their favorite. I have to admit, the food makes the noise level worth it, and one can't help having a terrific time. If you're in for some fun and laughs, you'll get it here.

Gotta go to Betty’s

By Z6343VCjohnh |

Been here a dozen times & love the atmosphere & quality & value if the food & drinks. Brunch on a Sunday is always a fun experience...

Ms

By Reddy R |

I really had a very bad experience at this place, it is over rated. I had gone today and ordered veggie tacos , I was told it’s hard taco and when I got it, it’s a ‘sauggy’ taco which I couldn’t even pick it up to eat. When I asked the guy his explanation was lame and he saw my plate untouched, he didn’t even bother to ask if he can get me a fresh one. Very reckless attitude and high price for this place. I will give negative rating if there is one

Good food and fun time

By Jan W |

Indoor or outdoor seating available. Friday evening was super busy but the staff was pleasant and accommodating. They have an extensive margarita menu. The food menu is also extensive. I tried the Mexican pizza and it was large enough to share and well seasoned. Complementary chips and salsa are served and the salsa is delicious.

Tacos

By Maps204160 |

The bartenders are wonderful there. The drinks are on point. I enjoy taco tuesday tacos are 2 dollars. My favorite taco is the potato taco and the table side guacamole. And on Thursday you can drink a pitcher of margaritas all by yourself. I love this bar

Awesome food!

By Lauren P |

We had the chicken mole, mini fish tacos and BLT and C taco and it was amazing! The menu noted on trip advisor is not the same menu as the restaurant. However, the website is accurate and features the correct menu.

Fun patio for dinner

By KGG22 |

Fun place for some great Mexican food. Fish tacos were particularly good and the cheese dip - so addictive! Drinks were good and service was great. We had a fun dinner on the patio people watching. They are dog friendly too which was nice Next trip to San Diego we will definitely go back!

So Much Fun!!

By Diana V |

great Sunday bunch It's a fun and relaxing It's a most experience. Great bunch options Eggs cooked to order

Great food and service!

By Kaitlin W |

My family and I stopped here after a long day at the San Diego Zoo. We happened to come in during happy hour so got several appetizers. Their queso, salsa, and guacamole were all great and tasted fresh. We all got the combination platters with varying entrees and everyone enjoyed them. The fish tacos were fantastic, probably the best I've had. The slaw that each platter came with was delicious, as were the rice and beans. Big portions, so come hungry!

Great salsa bar

By kerri n |

waitress was not friendly seemed like she didnt want to be bothered with us because we didnt order cocktail the salsa bar was great and the setting was neat.

Good restaurant in gay district of Hillcrest, fun place for drinks

By Douglas D |

We went there with friends during our frequent visits to San Diego, and it's a great place for a happy hour drink and food. Not a place for "great food" but for fun with friends while people watching, and we liked it.

Great atmosphere, drinks and food!

By Jeremy044 |

I had the carnitas and was very pleased. My husband enjoyed the avocado tacos which were both unique and delicious! Worth the wait with many great margarhitas to choose from.

noisy, popular, slow

By Tony C |

We've walked past this place countless times, put off by the noise but saying each time that we'd to try it one day. When we finally did sit down for a Saturday lunch, we found average California-Mexican food and extraordinarily slow (but friendly) service--90 minutes for a very simple meal. Sitting outside, we weren't blasted by the deafening music inside, and in fact the cool breeze and people-watching were pleasant. But we won't return.

This is one of my favorites!!!

By Danielle R |

The service is always excellent here! Staff is AWESOME!! Food is really good great location the area is walkable

Still excellent!

By sharrieross |

We haven’t been here in a few years, but it was actually better than I remember and I remember it being very good. Heather delivered great service and everything from our margaritas to the salsa and chips and our salad and enchiladas were delicious! We even brought take out to our daughter and she loved it! We’re from the east coast but will make sure to visit next year when we visit!

Fun crowd

By Mr M |

This is a nice and cosy establishment where you can have some good Mexican food and also great drinks. This is a gay friendly establishment on a gay friendly neighborhood. The staff are always nice, friendly and fun. Be prepared this place is a bit loud but it is great to hang out with friends or to celebrate that special someone birthday

Great Food & Fun Times

By PSBeachgoer |

We had the best time at Baja Betty's. The Drinks were Awesome, The Service was Perfect and the Food was Great!! The service was great as we had Dash as our Server and he did a Great Job keeping us Entertained and Full of Cocktails.. Portions are Large and very Tasty. We will be back on our next trip!!!

Everything else was better than perfect.

By Celia Edwards |

For the price of brunch, you can't argue too much. Sure, the quality doesn't compare to some of the other weekend titans that are known for their pricey displays of bottomless bubbles, but for me, Baja Betty's has two things going for them. 1. They're in the neighborhood and the vibe is loose AF. Granted, I know that not everyone lives in this neighborhood, but I do and I love being able to tackle a few bottles of cheap bubbles and not have to drive. While you're indulging in the booze you might as well have some grub too. Even if you only loaded your plate up with guacamole it's still worth it to me. 2. Okay, they do bottomless brunch on Saturday, not just Sunday. This is the biggest selling point of the brunch for me because most bottomless brunches are Sunday only. If I'm being honest, the Sunday brunches, though fun make for a terrible Monday. I'm too old for terrible Mondays making this Saturday option real attractive to me. The price is under $30.00, I think? I dunno... it's a modest price for a good time and I can stomach both that price tag and also the food.

Amazing final night in Hillcrest

By JL2007 |

We decided to make this our dinner stop for our last night in San Diego. We had already visited two of the other establishments which are managed/owned by the same group (Hillcrest Brewing Company and MO's Bar and Grill) and had amazing times there so we knew Baja Betty's wouldn't disappoint. We arrived about 8pm and were quickly seated. The bar and restaurant were very busy but that didn't affect the service we received. Our server, Chris, was one of the best servers we had on our travels. He was friendly, funny, attentive and always smiling. We decided we wanted to sample different items and looked towards a sharing platter of appetisers for 2, which Chris agreed would be plenty as we would get tortilla chips and salsa in addition. There was also drink specials for "call drinks" at around $5.55, however that did include house margaritas which were strong and tasty (think we had 3 each). The sharing platter was fresh and plentiful and included fish taco, beef taco, tostadas, quesadillas, a choice of a guacamole, bean or cheese dip (we went for the guac) - we scoffed down the lot - very tasty and by the end of it we were very full. The platter wasn't expensive, around $22 and it was very satisfying. Didn't stop us having food envy when we saw what other people were ordering - the fajitas and burritos looked great. Final bill with tax, but before tips, was around $59, which for what we ate and drank was amazing value. Thanks again to Chris who made our last night there so fun.

Good Drinks and Food

By Michael M |

Good drinks and food. No margarita pitchers though. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Attentive service.

Great Drinks

By Charles G |

Great ambiance, great drinks and great food. Bartenders are great too. Happy hr every night and other weekly specials, see posters inside. Happy hr margaritas are great for $5 or $6 if you add a flavor. Can't miss with this place.

Frankie Is Awesome and the brunch as well!

By Tinetina77 |

Frankie was our server and he was delightful. He made our first time a great experience and my husband and I can't wait to enjoy another meal here. The brunch is great! Unlimited sangria or mimosas. Never once did we have to ask Frankie for a refill he was so attentive to us GREAT SERVICE! We arrived just after 10am still slow but for us that was perfect because after 30 minutes the restaurant became packed. There are great selections for everyone. There is a cook to order option waffle station and street taco station and also of course the buffet area. The only suggestion is maybe have more than 1 person on the waffle and street taco station only because it does get packed and the line started to become long. But other than that the restaurant itself is fun and exciting. You will definitely get called out if you are a first timer at Baja Bettys. Brunch is about $22.00 a person not bad considering the unlimited alcohol choices that come with the brunch. Thank you again Frankie!

Sunday Funday Brunch

By spartigus15 |

Baja Betty's was the best jumping off point to a crazy unpredictable day. The staff was awesome the food was good and the Sangria and Mimosas were on point ever flowing i never saw the bottom of my glass. Couldn't beat the atmosphere and the people we met was just unbelievable.

Great restaurant

By Christopher H |

This restaurant was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was great, and crowd was nice too.

Fantastic staff

By Debbie B |

We went to Betty's twice , once on a Friday evening for drinks and once on the Monday for food . I did have a banana sweet on the Friday night as it sounded so good . It was the biggest banana I have ever had , dressed up nicely as a mans penis !! It gave us a good laugh . It was a great atmosphere and very busy on the Friday with a mixed crowd . It was nearly empty on the Monday when we went to eat , but quite often that is the case on a Monday anywhere. I thought the food was OK , but again a lot of quantity and not much quality. I would rather a smaller portion of better quality . I can't fault the staff they were all excellent and good humoured .

The most fun I've ever had in a restaurant

By FoxiJT |

Every time I visit San Diego Baja Betty's is my first stop. It sets the tone for a fabulous fun time.

mediocre food but less noisy than before

By Tony C |

We avoided this popular place for years because of the raucous noise, but decided to try it again when we found it quiet. The service was ok, a bit slow; the food was mediocre and cold when it reached us. We won't be going back.

$5 Papi Hour

By vagabondginger |

I went with 3 mini fish tacos and an Estrella draft beer for $10 during the Papi Hour which is 2-6pm Mon-Sat. They have lots of good specials here including also Taco Tuesday. I got there early at 2pm for a late lunch and ordered at the bar and sat out on the patio to people watch. Hillcrest is always a great place to do that. Taco Betty's has a lively vibe and friendly servers.

AWESOME!

By Krobminneapolis |

Service was fantastic, food was good and the margarita's were great! I asked for a floating duck in mine even though I did not order the big one that comes with the floating duck and they were accommodating. The food was large portioned and easily could have been shared, drinks and atmosphere lots of fun!

Awesome food

By Roopalichauhan |

If I could rate this restaurant higher than the 5, I would do that. We were directed to the restaurant by a local person in San Diego and the restaurant turned out to be a great find. The food choice is wide and was absolutely delicious. The ambience was great.

Food disappointing

By Amy R |

We went here on our vacation to SD. We were so excited to get some authentic Mexican food. The reviews sounded good. It was not authentic and the food was average. Service was good. This is an LGTBQ restaurant.

fun and friendly

By felixbb |

The best staff in Hillcrest, great cocktails, not my favorite food, but if you wanna have a lot of fun, is my second favorite place in San Diego

Yummy! Friendly! Fun!

By CMSusie |

Stopped by for a late dinner. They are very well set up for Covid precautions, taking temps and well sanitizing. Host and servers were super friendly. Food was great—we had street tacos. Lots of margarita choices. I felt a little awkward that we were the only heterosexual couple, but no one treated us oddly, and I would definitely go back.

Good atmosphere & friendly

By Lauraworman |

Cool place to dine and the staff are friendly. Lots and lots of food for a good price. Tasty margaritas too. I can see that this place could party till late

Friendly service, decent food.

By Zach G |

Great atmosphere, good food, super friendly staff. Hillcrest at its finest. We had the taco platter, carnitas and shredded steak were great, chicken was a little dry.

Best "Papi Hour" in town!!

By delphillips |

Amazing happy hour prices and selections. Great atmosphere with fun and friendly staff. Love the music, colors and energy. It's not the most authentic Mexican in San Diego, but everything else way than makes up for that. The "Papi hour" is well worth a try.

Lively and colorful

By Osidemike |

We eat here a few times a year. The food is well prepared and the ambiance is lively and colorful. Always fun and a great place to take friends and family. Between Hillcrest and North Park has a loyal gay following but just as fun for straight friends. Reservations for larger groups (I think 8-12) and a fun place for birthday celebrations (adult). The taco bowls are very good as are the grilled mahi tacos.

Sit where you can watch the kitchen

By elaineb9000 |

A friend and I had taken a 6 mile round-about walk out of the south end of Balboa Park, around the Old Globe Theatre, and up Fifth St into Hillcrest to go to Baja Betty's. After the long trek on foot, it was welcoming to be able to go in, sit down and order a drink (or two...). In any event, we were seated at a table between the bar and the window to the kitchen. After having the experience of watching the kitchen staff turn out plate after plate of beautiful food, I feel bad about the aesthetic presentation of just about every dish I have ever made. They take such pride in the quality and craftsmanship of the plates that they presented. On top of this, the floor staff were absolutely charming and amazing. Our waiter even had the host call us a cab, and they let us know as soon as it pulled in.

Our go to restaurant when in San Diego.

By Giovannaz2 |

In the heart of Hillcrest, this restaurant and bar is our favorite place in San Diego. The food is good, but the drinks are outstanding. Really. I mean it. The best in town! The ambience is fun and casual. The service outstanding. We get greeted with hugs and big welcomes any time we walk in. The happy hour appetizers are really good and you can make a meal out of them.

YUM

By 223Jeanne |

We Texans must have an intake of Mexican food while on vacation and this place did not disappoint!! Excellent food and service.

Excellent place for a birthday brunch!

By ibhayhay |

My husband and I both were celebrating our birthdays last weekend with my sister and her bf. We wanted to go to a place we've never been and this place looked like fun. We got there as soon as they opened, as I heard it can get crowded. We all ordered the all you can eat brunch with the bottomless mimosas. The mimosas were a bit on the tame side, but it tasted good with the yummy buffet. There were a couple of things that weren't that great, but there was a lot of good food to choose from! We all ordered different margaritas, which were very good! The sis and I shared a F'ugly Betty and got tipsy right away. The server we had was very friendly as were the patrons of the restaurant. By the end of our brunch, we had made several new friends. I highly recommend coming here for some kind of celebration as this place is fun!

Love this place!

By CaliCanuck3 |

Baja Betty’s is one of my go to places in San Diego, whether it’s for Papi hour (their happy hour) after work or friends are in town etc. it’s always a great experience. The staff is friendly and very attentive, you always feel incredibly welcome anytime you go. I personally love going for margs, the favors are delicious! (They include passion fruit, guava, mango etc.) The food is good as well and the pricing doesn’t break the bank. The overall vibe is great and the location is close to a lot of other great places to check out. Hillcrest is wonderful! The only issue I would say is parking can be a bit tricky, but you’ll eventually be able to find a spot, and it’s worth it! At the worst, a little walking never hurt anyone! I will continue going here and recommending it to friends!

Great place with patio

By Jeannie D |

I loved their Caesar salad with chicken with the chips and salsa. I went here with my friends as it is in their neighborhood. The servers were so cute and friendly.

Hot! and Friendly

By George H |

Baja Betty's isn't so much of a restaurant, but a combination of a cruisy Gay Bar, and Fast Food Restaurant. The staff are (extremely) friendly, the clientele are all up for a wild time, and the food is good. Drinks are not exaubatantly priced, a glass of Chardonnay is $6-8 dollars, but then it is an unmeasured glasss, and if the (Cheeky) Latino serving you, likes you then you get a half-decent glug of wine. The wine itself is good, and the food is freshly cooked. Mad! but its the kind of place you just have to go back to!

Great food and fun atmosphere. Even something for a 1 year old. Food is very tasty with large portions.

Great Food

By 625Johnboy1 |

A lively Bar for Food and Drinks. Wonderful Colourful and seating In or Out. Kevin our Associate Was Great. The Drinks Were Tasty and Served Quick. You started with the Compulsory Dip. Nice One. Kevin is very knowledgable as a member was Celiac. We rearrange the menus to Corn Made Quesadillas and Tacos. That Worked well. Great Service and Prices to Boot. Well Worth a Try.

Taco Tuesday is a must

By Catherine Holden |

Great bar with a great vibe. Taco Tuesday menu with wide choice, offers from $2! Great family venue. There to celebrate a birthday and Cody and Kevin really made it special - thank you to you both, desert and sash was a lovely touch!

One of friendliest, fun places, Cheers bar, strong margs in Hillcrest!

By HolisticHealerGal |

Baja Betty's is one of the friendliest, fun and funky places you can find in Hillcrest or anywhere in San Diego! The staff are ALL friendly, warm and ALWAYS make you feel welcome whether you are there for a margarita or for dinner. The margaritas are strong. The portions are large...typical Mexican or Tex-mex...The owners REALLY care about you and quality of service which as we know is not the case everywhere. There are all kinds of specials throughout the week if you get on their list, Both indoor and outdoor seating. When I say it is one of the best meals I have ever had it is because of the Vibe and loving energy that everyone there exudes, not just the food.. Saul, one of the bartenders, is one of the dear souls on this planet and makes everyone feel welcome. If you are down or lonely you won't be for long at Baja Betty's! Good happy hour too!

GOOD and fun!

By TravelerCharlotte |

We tried to get into another Mexican place that I had gone to before and loved and it was out of control packed. So my friends told me about this place. My new favorite - I loved it and can't wait for next time I visit to go back. They had this appetizer called Tres Amigos Sampler that it might be good I don't live in San Diego, I would go every night. Guac, bean dip and cheese dip, in a really cool bowl (should have taken a picture). It was SOOOO good. Waiter was darling and attentive. Crowd a blast. It was one of our birthdays and they have quite a special birthday crown and dessert. :) Margaritas excellent, food great. Fun atmosphere. I loved it. LOVED.

SAUL IS THE BEST BARTENDER ....MARGARITAS TASTY..FRIENDLY STAFF

By DomoLove |

Had time to kill so a friend recommended Baja Bettys for drinks. When we arrived the place was packed. Not a problem for US we sat in the corner of the Bar and ordered drinks. Saul the Barteneder was very friendly and attentive even though the bar was packed he made sure to check on us constantly to see if we needed anything. We didn't order food my review, is based on the drinks which were AMAZING I had a Cadillac Margarita (BIG GLASS) it was delicious. Based on the serivice I received I would recommend anyone to come here. I for one will keep returning to their friendly staff.

Awesome nachos!

By RomanticTravelers888 |

Great party atmosphere in a cool SD neighborhood. We searched for the best nachos in San Diego and found them! The plate was piled high with the toppings we chose: cheese, olives, beans, tomatoes. Yum! We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was a party inside. The margaritas and sangrias were excellent and generous. Our server was a lot of fun and attentive. We passed on the popular buffet for the nachos and the two of us could not finish the small order. The bar and restaurant were crowded but not obnoxious. The decorations and buzz made this a fun afternoon. Good neighborhood to walk around.

Mexican Brunch

Diverse, delicious assortment of Mexican cuisine in a relaxed setting. Good table service. Many choices. Sunday morning family brunch. Well worth it and not terribly expensive. Parking can be difficult so be prepared.

Great food, great vibe!

By ryankehler |

We loved their Mexican food so much, we went back for dinner a second time when we couldn’t decide where to go. Lots of street parking, and a friendly and diverse staff and clientele.

Love this place

By Brent H |

Haven't been here in almost 10 years. I remembered why I loved it so much! The staff is amazing, even brought me some ice for my neck. The food was tasty and the drinks are wonderful. One of the best happy hours around.

Excellent food and dog friendly

By jjoek1 |

My wife and I were in San Diego for a few days of respite from our Phoenix heat. We brought our two dogs with us. This dog friendly restaurant was perfect for lunch, The food was good, with just about the right amount of spice. We each had excellent enchiladas, and the dogs shared a bowl of water.

January 1, 2017 excellent food and excellent customer service

Great Food and Atmosphere

Betty's is a great find in Hillcrest. We stopped in for lunch and were really happy with both the food and service. The bartender was really friendly and served us quickly with great drinks. The food was terrific and served quickly and hot. We will definitely go back.

Out-of-towners has a blast

By DaveD_Friendswood |

We’re from Nashville, but saw the reviews and had to go. We lucked out and got there for Papi, I mean happy hour. The owner came to take our picture because we were “an actual family with three generations”. Had a micro beer on tap that was great. We had fish tacos, street (carnitas) tacos, taquitos and queso. Street parking was easy. $1.50 for an hour of parking. It’s worth the drive if you are visiting and want a fun restaurant with great food. Outside seating available.

Taco Tuesday

By Angela G |

Decide to check this place out while in town for business. It was Taco Tuesday so why not. Great happy hour and Taco Tuesday specials. I would definitely come back if in town again. I was eating alone so I was able to get seated quickly. The staff was very nice and attentive.

Mahi mahi tacos 🔥

Amazing food and atmosphere

By hjk1995 |

I visited San Diego for a week and had to visit this restaurant more than once. Delicious food and margaritas are amazing!!! I recommend coming on a Tuesday, deals are incredible. $2 house margaritas, and really good deals on the food. We came on another day other than Tuesday and the bill was definitely more expensive but still worth it! If your a regular or just stopping by, sooooo worth the visit. Service was good, and food comes out quick!

Fun Place in Hillcrest!

By Evan B |

This is a lively (mostly) Mexican restaurant in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. From the interior design to the atmosphere to the music to the fun-loving clientele, this restaurant provides an entertaining experience, not just a meal! The bar is quite popular on its own, as their drink specials & margaritas are legendary. You don't even have to eat here to have fun! The food is pretty good & the service is friendly & efficient. They also have special events on certain nights of the week--you should call or go to their website for details and schedules. You're sure to have a good time here!

A fantastic local find

By Barry H |

I had a few hours to kill before the service on my motorcycle was completed. So I met up with a friend of mine for brunch. Since he's a foodie and knew the area well, we headed to Baja Betty's for the all-you-can eat Mexican Bottomless Brunch (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., served both Saturday's and Sunday's) which also included unlimited glasses of champagne, sangria or mimosas. Nice atmoshpere, friendly service and lively atmoshpere as well as great price for the food and drink. Wow, so many choices to list but I'll give you a sample of what I had...chicken and beef street tacos, enchiladas, Spanish rice, tortilla chips with queso, bacon, sausage, beans, flan...and so much more.

Fun Upbeat Vibe at Baja Betty's

By Vin Z |

Baja Betty's always has a fun upbeat vibe with a super friendly staff, especially Ginger and Myra. Their daily promos can make a poor guy happy! The food is very tasty especially the guacamole, fish tacos and chicken adobado. Their Margaritas are consistently good. The only down side (for some) could be the noise level inside on certain nights or that they allow dogs in the small patio area.

Great Margaritas and Food

By taste05 |

Went here with colleagues while on a work conference for the first time. Great selection of margaritas. Bartender this particular night had quite a heavy pour which was nice! The home made guacamole was fantastic made right at the table. The atmosphere was vibrant and the music was fantastic!

Close to the Zoo, fun place too

By Mellietex |

Sari sent us here after cutting a zoo trip short to watch the womens soccer finals. Many tvs availiable. Arrived at happy hour and were delighted with low prices, noise level not too high and great service.. Stayed for dinner off the happy hour menu which was plenty, liked their soft tacos..

Relaxed, homely atmosphere at Baja Betty's

By Christo S |

We had late afternoon snacks and drinks at Baja Betty's in University Avenue, Hillcrest. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was tasty and the drinks had generous proportions of mixer and spirit. This establishment is also dog-friendly, which gives it a more homely, relaxed kind of atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves and would not hesitate to go back.

fun food

By 628Gary |

The food and service are really fun! The waiters/ waitresses are convenient and have a knowledge of all of the food/ beverages. I love the happy hour and all of the days of drink specials that they have!

friendly, noisy, mediocre food

By Tony C |

We put off a visit to this popular spot for a long time because of the noise coming from inside--and even from the patio--as we walked past. When we finally tried it for dinner, we found the noise deafening (both music and conversation), as expected. (The patio is a little less noisy than inside.) The service was very friendly and fast. Sadly, the food was mediocre. Being so close to the border, San Diego should offer countless opportunities for excellent Mexican food, but this isn't true, in our experience. Standards and expectations seem to be higher in Phoenix and New Mexico (Santa Fe, Albuquerque) than in San Diego. At Baja Betty's, the food is average American-Mexican fare, at best.

Fun young crowd

By DandyinSeattle |

Good food young crowd should go on a weeknight to avoid waiting to sit. Good outdoor seating with heaters. Great bartender "Hugo" who has great sense of humor and remembers you. Good street tacos but table waiters are slow....it's good to order your own food at the bar and wait on yourself.

Excellent Food and Service

By crumycat |

I visited Baja Betty’s along with my partner for dinner in December 2018 after having a craving for some good Mexican fair. This was our first visit. Both the food and service was amazing! I ordered the nachos for dinner and was blown away by the quality and quantity of the food. If you order the nachos, maybe stop eating a week before! Our waiter was fantastic! She took great care of us and checked in with us on regular intervals to see if we needed anything. The menu is extensive and has a number of fantastic food and drink options.

Fish Tacos

By Brad B |

We visited Baja Betty's for one reason: Fish Tacos. We received a recommendation and were not disappointed. We had chips & salsa and Jala'Wraps for the table and fish tacos (Beach Tacos) all around. The chips and salsa were fresh and kept coming. The Jala'Wraps were very tasty and a few were very spicy, very. The tacos were nicely fried but very light. We had to get extra napkins a few times.

Amazing Mexican

By Z6343VCjohnh |

Not only excellent food, Not only excellent service, But AMAZING prices - how they can donut for these prices is unbelievable. I had chicken quesadilla AND fish tacos for $4 EACH - could not finish & ended up taking food home. Drinks awesome too. A group of us went here yesterday & it was the best Mexican food I have tasted in years. Our server PACO went above .& beyond was friendly and knowledgeable about all the food & drinks. We are definitely returning to this gem ASAP......U will not be disappointed.

By Rosemary W |

The atmosphere is lively, the staff is welcoming, and everyone seems to be having a good time. The food is very good, and the portions are generous. They have various specials every day, so it's always possible to get a good deal.

Great buffet

By chivohn819 |

We went for their Sunday brunch. The buffet was phenomenal. Tacos, fresh fruits, and of course waffles and pancakes. Delicious place, good price for good food. The mimosas tasted kind of funny to me, but I think it was because the champagne was a little dry for my taste.

Good Mexican food and big portions

By Eric S |

Great place to have dinner with friends. Portions are large and tasty. Prices are affordable (especially during Happy Hour). Friendly service

Drinks only next time.

By SanFranciscoRoyalty |

Yeah I did get the $7.99 lunch special with a fried fish taco, Caesar salad, refried beans, and was supposed to include rice but some reason I wasn't given. It was all awful. Next time just margaritas and maybe the cheese dip. Not going to eat here again, I've been disappointed every time by the inedible food.

Good Mexican Food -- A Gay Bar

By Danielg922 |

I wondered why they were rated #1 in San DIego mexican food. Was it the huge list of margaritas and other alcohol? Was it great food? Well, my Margarita was good but not worth fame. The mexican food was good, better than most, but not worthy of #1. Look around at the waiters and the patrons and the "Home Sweet Homo" neon sign. If you're gay, this place is for you. For me, not so much. I have nothing against LGBTQ. But I'm not inclined to be completely engulfed by that culture. There are other mexican restaurants in San Diego with better margaritas.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere

By Internationalmomof2 |

Went there with my husband and a friend. We had a great time from the moment we entered. Its a fun atmosphere the waiting staff is very polite and efficient the food is very good, you can even watch the chef preparing it and no long wait. Great offers .... enjoyed the cocktails...... Will be definitely coming back!!!!!!!!!!

Brunch it up...Love it!

By LGriss |

So far i have been there 3 times, 2 of them was with friends and on a sunday watching different screens of football games. The other time was just me having a wonderful lunch. I have to say this place really out do its self. The staff is wonderful, with a big crowd there still professional and make sure they take care of everyone. Its so much i can say about this place, but its best to see for yourself how great this place is. Food and Drinks are EXCELLENTE :)! When my friends ask to hangout on a sunday I bring up Baja Betty's cause it gets no better for a nicely prepared brunch.

Authentic and Fun Makes for the Perfect Mix

By Carolyn H |

Fabulous gourmet recipes in a totally fun and festive environment. With so many other Hillcrest destinations in walking distance this makes for the perfect gathering place. Even from the Zoo or other Balboa Park locations, Baja Betty's is worth the jaunt.

The BEST fish tacos and margaritas ever!

By Danielle D |

Awesome food, friendly atmosphere! Great Waiter, lively overall. Food was fresh and served fast. Would go back again!

Fun lively crowd and amazing food!

By maisiemom |

We stopped in here for an early Saturday dinner. We arrived around 6 and the place was already in full swing with a good crowd and lively music. We ordered the queso dip which was delicious. I got shrimp fajitas and they had a great flavor. We were so full so I was disappointed that we didn't have room for dessert. Server Chris was friendly and attentive.

Very good food in a very gay ambience

By MelvinPusfinger |

We went here on spec and were not aware that this was a gay bar at restaurant. For many people, this would not present an issue. But the art in the wall is very in your face and some would not find this to their taste. Therefore, best to be aware of these facts before you decide to dine here. If you do come here the food was very tasty. We would recommend the burrito which is a very large size and more than enough for two persons. Our waitress was very polite and attentive although, there’s sometimes veered over into flamboyance. Street parking is available nearby.

Fun night out with great food

By Victoria S |

Had a fantastic night here. Excellent service from all staff and the food was delicious! Try to visit on Thursday for the deal on the pitchers - the margaritas were great!

Big burritos and awesome drink specials

FUN LGBT+ Mexican restaurant with good tunes, good drinks, and good food. Staff is tremendously friendly. All around great place! Indoor and outdoor seating available... both of which can be popular so be forewarned, reservations are available only for larger parties.

Popped in for a quick drink

By Astrid N |

Popped in for a quick drink - I don't go out much during Covid times and was impressed by all the safety measures in place. I've always loved this place and this quick visit while different (I love sitting at the bar) was perfect for these times. Chris was so lovely and since I was in and out he had my guac packaged so thoughtfully to go. For great margs and service Betty's is a must!

Saturday Brunch

By Shawn W |

Great place to meet up friends both old and new. Food is displayed for brunch in there private dining area. Well appointed types, breakfast, lunch and dinner type foods are in abundance. The staff is awesome. They love to chit chat and make everything a great experience. They are accepting of all peeps. Can't wait to go back.

Best tacos we had

By lesley2805 |

We had a great meal here on Taco Tuesday. We started off with the melted cheese bowl, that was so tasty. All four of us couldn't wait to tuck in. Then we hit the tacos, they were actually the best. Food was great, staff were super friendly and the ambience was amazing. I would definitely come here again if I was in the are

BRUNCH KING!

By Alisa G |

The servers were hilarious and they kept the bottomless mimosas coming! The food was okay - it was buffet style, but really, we came for the atmosphere and the mimosas. We ate and drank way too much and ended up walking around a while to burn it off. It's in a great little area with shops to look at while you try to burn of the calories you just consumed. Amazing place!

Great atmosphere, incredible staff!

By Kiera J |

Really enjoyed my waiter and all of the helpful staff. The nachos are fantastic and the drinks are superb!

YUMMY

By The_Dewey |

I really enjoyed my meal, it was a top 5 fish taco for me! I like how they provide complimentary chips and salsa and they were delicious! I got the combo plate with a fish taco and enchiladas. They were so fresh and tasty, I tried to eat slow to not embarrass myself in front of my fellow diners. Our server was great too, very energetic and attentive. So glad I came here on my trip!

Always dependable and enjoyable, but...

By Javier V |

A fun place to go where the food is always dependably good. The Mexican food isn't "typical" but neither is it high end. BB's food has a very specific taste. The menu has enough variety for most, but it is all of the burrito, taco, enchilada variety. There are two big things to remember. First is that although there are plenty of seating options, it IS a restaurant that is built around the fact that it is a bar. So it can get noisy and crowded. The second is that it is very much a part of the neighborhood that it resides. So you WILL be exposed to the beautiful diversity that is Hillcrest. So go and enjoy a birthday margarita and cheese dip (and ask for an inflatable crown).

Great food, great service, great prices.

By Yak0913 |

The food at Baja Betty's was delicious. The quesadillas are huge. It's a funky little place where you definitely feel comfortable. The staff is so friendly and attentive. You definitely won't be disappointed at Baja Betty's.

Such a fun night, we went back the next night!

By vicklette52 |

Visiting w/my husband, from Akron, Ohio (LeBron's and The Black Keys' hometown!) to spend some time with my son, his wife and her family and were treated to Baja Betty's for dinner. I had fish tacos (4/excellent) and a dessert that still makes me smile. Not only was it one of the best desserts I've ever had, the presentation was unforgettable..lol! The wait staff on both nights was attentive, welcoming and fun, and though I rarely buy t-shirts, I bought a Baja Betty's. Go have a great meal and a lot of laughs; we'll definitely be back next time we're in San Diego. Vickie H.

Tasty Margaritas and food

By E Jay |

Great meal here with family when visiting from the UK. Fabulous food and drinks and lovely staff. Extra bonus that it's so LGBTQIA+ friendly. We took advantage of the all night Monday happy hour cocktails too. Just wish we could have come back for seconds.

A real find - thanks to TripAdvisor

By McGuinness is good for you |

Found this place whilst browsing TripAdvisor, and the reviews are "spot-on" as we English say haha. There was a very extensive Margarita menu, but I stuck with the original, and was amazed to discover what a "real" Margarita tastes like haha I stuck with original Mexican enchiladas, again with a unique taste, quite different and superior to other offerings I have had in "Mexican" restaurants. Well done - we all had great food and will be back, next trip

Great Food and Service!

By Lornaleigh |

We found it on bringfido.com because we wanted a dinner spot close to our hotel that is dog friendly. Learned that it is located in the Hillcrest district known for acceptance and diversity. And boy was it dog friendly! We sat outside on the patio and had excellent service. I enjoyed two of the jalapeno skinny margaritas, a variation that I have not seen before. My friend liked the classic margarita. Highly recommend the made fresh at your table guacamole. Best ever. Ceviche and carnitas were also good.

Happy Place

By WillV90 |

I was looking for a place to have dinner, and decided to come here and I had a great experience. The ambiance was very festive and vibrant. As soon as i sat down I felt welcomed and the staff was very friendly. I felt like I was at a friends house cause everyone was so cool and chill. I love mexican food and they definitely measured up to what I expected. The food was delicious. There guacamole was fresh and good. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it was so delicious. The drinks were amazing!!! I had a couple and they were all so good. Its a great place to go before you go out to party or to the club.

We found this place by accident, a happy accident . Arrived during happy hour and took advantage of the appetizer and drink specials. We then turned our focus to main courses. Fish tacos...yes! Chicken enchiladas yes! Drinks were amazing, everyone was happy with their food. Service was fantastic. Server Chris was fantastic and funny, he should be hosting the Emmys.

Happening vibe, great food

By beachfan28 |

This is a great spot in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Food was great, as were the margaritas and the attitude of staff and patrons. Will go back as often as we can, but will go early as it gets packed on weekends, especially.

Welcoming Hillcrest Neighborhood!

By ccoqui |

We went to San Diego for a 1 week pre-Christmas vacation. No wonder they call it "The Finest City". We had a great time! Looking forward to get to know Hillcrest, we went to have lunch and drinks (best Margaritas around!!) at Baja Betty's. What a place, with such welcoming people and a perfect festive ambience , Baja Betty's is top in my list of neighborhood bars in the Hillcrest area. Courtney took care of us and gave us a virtual tour of the area. Excellent hostess! We liked the place so much that after a walk around the area we went back to have more Margaritas. Mayra, was delightful as well. I would like to congratulate the management for such a good work! I understand that other business around the area belong to Mo'universe and I bet the same ambiance permeates around their venues. If you are in San Diego, go there, be there, because they care!

Great Guac!!!

By sxwilkin |

Thanks fellow trip advisors, visited on the strength of the reviews! Good food, excellent service, lively atmosphere even at 4pm! Ate off the happy hour menu, great value, nice fresh tasty food Maybe not as authentic feeling as in old San Diego but still enjoyed the experience

Cruising drag queens with good food and a ton of fun.

By BmmrBabe |

I just celebrated my birthday with my husband at BBs. I didn't know it was their Christmas Drag Queen special - but I would have got there early if I had known. I had fun. Lots and lots of fun. You had to be in the spirit - and that was infectious. The food was okay - nothing special, mexican, with american sized (huge) portions. They gave me a special hat - which my son requested I do not post on facebook or he would unfriend me. The birthday cake was in the theme too. My husband had their special pork dish which was tasty. I had the fajitas which were overcooked. The guacamole was excellent. It isn't my lifestyle choice, but the fun was the perfect way to celebrate. They all laughed along with me - a middle aged lady out with her husband wearing a very special balloon had and a tiara. If you are in the neighbourhood go - have fun - enjoy your vacation.

Fun!!

By Judy V |

This place is so much fun! Wether it’s for happy hour or dinner or even Brunch, this place has it all. Food is yummy, drinks are fabulous and the wait staff is fantastic!! Fun Experience

By Cass L |

My friend and I came here for Brunch, but did too much of our own pregaming that we only had a half hour of bottomless left when we arrived. We decided not to go with bottomless, but still had a great time. We sat at the bar and Hugo was our bartender/server. He was awesome and really hooked us up! We also sat right where the wait staff picks up drinks so we got to meet many of the staff and loved everyone! Overall the staff was great, and you could tell that they were all having a good time. I used to be a waitress and wish I could have had that much fun at work. I gave five stars 100% for the experience we had, and because I have nothing negative to say (other than the fact that I drank myself sick) but that was my own doing. We asked for a recommendation for dinks and was told the Margarita, so we stuck with that for the day. My friend and I got the Queso Dip as an appetizer and the Taquitos. I felt the Taquitos were a little dry, but good when dipped in sour cream. The guacamole served with them was a little spicy for my taste, but I am a wimp when it comes to spicy. I LOVED the Queso Dip because it was not spicy, so I was happy to be able to enjoy the dip and salsa without my mouth on fire. We loved it so much that after a few more margaritas we decided to get the Sampler so we could have more cheese dip. Out of the Sampler I really enjoyed the Fish Taco and Mini Cheese Quesadillas. One obvious theme of the restaurant is that they like tequila! Hugo got us a shot and instead of the typical lime, gave us an orange with cinnamon as a chaser. IT WAS SOO GOOD! It turned tequila into dessert! I highly recommend asking for it the next time you take a tequila shot because it has changed the way I view tequila shots for sure.

Scooby Snack

By Molly M |

This place was super delicious. The staff makes you feel like family, and gives excellent suggestions. I highly recommend the Scooby Snack drink. The outdoor area is amazing to sit at and dog friendly.

Excellent Food and Fun Atmosphere

By tctom2003 |

We had excellent food and the best service at Baja Betty's! Dash was knowledgeable, friendly and very entertaining! We split a personal margarita pitcher and a Mexican pizza. We also enjoyed the queso dip very much. Parking was a bit of a challenge even though we were there on a Thursday night. There are specials every night and an excellent variety of items on the menu. Highly recommended!
