Quick Breakfast-Covid Style

By Julie S |

We needed a place to pop into for breakfast before taking a road trip. As it was Covid time, you eat outside on little cafe tables on the sidewalk. They only have a limited menu. But our egg sandwiches and coffee were hot and tasty and we were impressed with the portions! We happen to also each get a pastry because-well, why not!? We actually liked our sandwiches better than the pastries.

Fantastic Breads to Buy and a Beautiful New Cafe!

By TrixiePhiladelphia |

Baker Street has been a long-time Chestnut Hill institution known for their artisan bread, cookies and sticky buns. They have now opened a cafe - they do still sell the breads - and it is marvelous! Both inside and outside seating. All items made from scratch, a soup or two of the day and the Avocado Toast (which you can get for breakfast or lunch) is the best I have ever had. Free Wi-Fi, lots of seating and the food is exception. Parking is on-street and metered on Germantown Avenue, but there are streets within a short walk that are free.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE MUFFINS

By BCM1225 |

We've been coming here for years for both baked goods and "noon" pizza. REcently I came here for some breakfast items and the muffins looked great with lots of blueberries and cranberries visible on the muffin top. Unfortunately, those were the only berries in the whole muffin, just what you could count on top. The muffins tasted fine but when you buy fruited muffins, I/you expect to have berries throughout the whole muffin. Plus, they were understaffed with a line to the door and a worker in the back making salad bowls for the case. Take care of the customers first!

Upbeat...but

Popped in for coffee and croissant with a friend today. The coffee was So mediocre AND lukewarm. Great location, friendly staff. Baked goods are fine to take out, not exceptional. Sorry.

Now a great bread store has a wonderful cafe!

Really glad that this wonderful bread store in Chestnut Hill has now added a cafe. They have recently added breakfast and lunch service and it is great! The breakfasts include an excellent egg sandwich on their delicious brioche and the avocado toast is a winner. The owner is very attentive and the staff aims to please. Check it out for breakfast or lunch!

Fresh Baked

By Ann H |

You can smell the bread baking down the street. So many varieties and all fresh! Friendly, tasty and they will slice it for you.

BEST breads around!

By Lee B |

Walking by, you'll be lured in by the smell of freshly baked bread. Try the scones for a treat, but Baker Street really does have the best bread around. Highly recommend the multi-grain rolls or baguette. Also, just love their sourdough!

loved it

Great Bakery...you don't find bakerie's like this too much anymore. Bread, pitza and cookies were wonderful.

Best Bakery Ever!!!

By ILoveStars28 |

How do I even begin to explain this quaint, cozy, and friendly bakery? Well, the most important thing is the freshness and fine quality of their baked goods. The bakery is constantly baking goods for their store front and their other customers. The girls in the front are so friendly. Sometimes, the customers just stand their chatting with the girls even after they purchased their goods. I would have to say they have EXCELLENT customer service skills. I would highly suggest visiting this bakery. There may not be a seating area inside but, Chestnut Hill has benches all over. When we visit Baker Street Bread we usually by their cookies (Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter) and cake loaves. Everything, and I do mean everything is tasty and worth every penny. It is a must when we head back home to Florida to bring back cookies, scones, and cake loaves.

I think best bakery around

By John L W |

There are maybe fancier bakeries, but Baker Street has the best breads, muffins, cookies, etc. We buy all such items there - despite lots of options. They also have sheets of thick-crust pizza varieties, great with salads. They're open long hours, all breads are freshly baked.

Great bread

By Wisertime |

Like several other places on Germantown ave, the photo on Tripadvisor is not correct of the building. In a word the bread here is great. Lot's of variety, free samples and the aroma from the kitchen is lovely. They do bread only pretty much and do it right.

Our Go-to

By nontrendytraveler |

Anytime I am hosting company or cooking a special meal, I go here. Their brioche rolls are amazing and I love their foccacia and dinner breads. The bagels are quite good as well. I haven't tried their sweets, as they are somewhat limited in number.

Great Biscotti

Do not miss buying and enjoying several of the fantastic biscotti at this rustic bakery in Chestnut Hill. Worth the trip.

NOON PIZZA RUN

By BCM1225 |

When visiting our son and his family, we sometimes make a noon pizza run to Baker Street. The plain pie and the spinach pie are excellent. Just make sure you get there around noon when they first come out of the oven and they are at their bubbly best. It's fun to watch people go outside to eat their squares. These are thick crust Sicilian style pieces and they are very good. Also, their Apple Fritters are always calling my name when I'm in the store and I just have to listen to their call. They are full of apples and really good. So, pizza and apple fritters, what could be bad about that??
