Neat place piping hot food

So wife and I came back after first time just getting appetizer and happy hour drinks. This time we had the stone pot and it was incredible and steaming for 30 minutes. Secret is press rice to sides and they get crispier, yum yum yummy. Noodle bowls all flavorful and service first rate. Recommend a Sapporo beer to go with it. We will be back. J&L

Found this place by accident. Glad we did!! Food was most excellent. Highly recommend this place. This place added its own twist to their Japanese Cuisine. Please see receipt, priced right. Well worth the price. Service was provided by Ms. Ellie who did an excellent job as well. Hope you open another location on the other side of San Antonio, TX

Good Ramen Restaurant, Too Loud Music

By mattron780 |

We arrived on a weekday around 5:30pm for dinnner, and found lots of available tables. Between the 3 of us, we tried 2 diferent ramen bowls and a bibimbop bowl, as well as an edamame appetizer. Both ramens were very tasty and filling - Garlic Pork Tonkatsu and Vegan. Contrary to a number of comments I read regarding the blandness of the broth here, both ramens were well seasoned and quite good. I have a feeling those complaining of blandness are of the belief that if food isn't reeking of chili heat, it's no good. Bakudan takes the approach of providing a broth that isn't overly spicy, and allowing diners to add heat as desired (which i wholeheartedly endorse). The bibimbap was also tasty, but not quite as good as the ramen bowls - ours was too sweet. Aside from the generally good food, the other thing that lingers in my memory is the too loud music that detracted from the dining experience throughout the evening. It made it hard to hold a normal conversation.

My new favorite restaurant!

This is some of the best I’ve had outside of Japan. I’ve been a few times now and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. The ramen, katsu curry, gyoza....and I keep checking out everyone else’s plate as it comes out of the kitchen to see what I want to try next. The atmosphere is awesome - you could easily pick the restaurant up and drop in Tokyo and it would fit right in.
