Folks, I had dinner with my wife tonight, expected to have nice dinner. Unfortunetly it wasn't close to my expectation, service was terrible and food is ok. Ruen Thai in Irving and Thai Chow is much much better than Banana Leaf I can bet on that. that's my two cents.

Solid Thai Food

By CompactTraveler22 |

Come here for lunch pretty frequently and I'm never disappointed. The food has great flavor and isn't overly greasy. Always taste fresh and delicious. The panang curry is fantastic and a must try. The do a great job of balancing the sweet, salt, and spice level...which is critical in thai cuisine. The only dish i think is just "ok" is their pad thai. Their pad thai is more on the sweeter side than some other places. I like my pad thai with a little spice, which isn't typical for pad thai - Just a personal preference. Service is always fast and friendly

Fish cake is delicious

By Bala B |

We have been going to this restaurant for the past eight years. "Tad mun Plao" i.e. Fish cake is delicious. Thai fried rice is quite delicious too. Great value for Money. I would rate this as among the Top 3 Thai restaurants in North Dallas/Plano area. I take my guests from out-of-town when they visit us and they all have loved the food here. Service could be improved

Great food, Gread atmosphere!!

By Kriangkrai N |

We all had a really nice dining experience at Banana Leaf Thai cuisine. Food and atmosphere was wonderful. Service was excellent too. I would recommend Banana Leaf to all friends.

Excellent Thai Food. Better than 90% of Thai restaurants.

By DonePayingForPoorQuality |

Excellent quality and we'll flavored Thai cuisine with many many options to choose from. Try the Fried sea bass, it has a unique savory and wonderful flavor. Great service and selection.

House made sweet and sour sauce.

By Lucky1Waxahachie |

I want to come back-and I will. Such great food. Very fresh and delicious. I ordered Tom Yum soup and wanted some spice so I said a level 3. It was perfect spice for me. I ordered the cream cheese fried wontons with a little citrus. Their house made sweet and sour will ruin it for all others. I will now crave their house made sauce. I couldn’t resist dessert. I had sticky rice and mango and it also was very tasty. All I can say is, I will come back and try other options-well maybe, as I loved what I ordered this time so….

This place wins on personality. The owner is very hands on and lets you try new dishes. I especially like the spicy...

Wanted some Thai coconut soup

By JParlante |

I've driven past this restaurant for three and a half years. I wanted some Thai coconut soup and didn't want to drive a long distance to my usual Thai place. I'm glad I stopped in The setting and restaurant are very clean and subtlety elegant. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. The salad dressing is great. I can never make this peanut dressing the way they do in the restaurant. My lunch portion was enough for two meals!

Fabulous Thai Restaurant!

By Dina S |

We have been going to this restaurant for the last 3 years. Fabulous restaurant on Preston Road which has consistently high standards of food and service. They are very accommodating to specific requests and prices are very reasonable. They have a huge selection of vegetarian dishes and any dish can be made without meat if required. The ginger fried rice is our all time favourite as are the basil noodles. Always look forward to dining here.

Excellent Noodles with Basil

By EdM734 |

Loved the noodles with basil (drunken noodles to most). Ordered in at work. Huge portion came with soup. Accidentally order a second soup, Spicy Herb Soup. Good but not particularly spicy.

Banana Leaf Was Worth A Return Visit

By Bob K |

I used to work in the area and frequent Banana Leaf often. My current location requires more time to get there so it fell off my radar. An old friend's invitation to lunch there reminded me of how much I used to enjoy Banana Leaf. Bill ordered the Spicy Noodles with Chicken and I had the Thai Basil with Chicken. I like Thai cuisine because you can control the spicy "heat". Banana Leaf gives you a 0 to 5 Heat option. I chose 2 and Bill chose 4. Soup and a small salad started our lunch Both were adequately portioned. Our main courses arrived warm and were bountiful. Service was friendly and attentive. My tea glass was never empty. Though busy, it's not a noisy place so it's easy to carry on a conversation. Banana Leaf is back on my radar.

Good, but not great

By Bradley F |

I ordered the tom ka soup and it was very watery. Normally, it is made with mainly coconut milk, but this was mainly water. I was very disappointed by this, but nit to the point of one star.

Great Thai

By Yippie-Yi-O |

I've eaten here several times, following a Groupon purchase. Everything we have tried was wonderful. I particularly like glass noodles, so I order the Pad Woonsen with chicken.

Great Thai food/portions

By 03sassy |

My family we always come to Dallas and explore different types of food. We finally booked and stay in Plano, tx. We thought we tried to stay in different areas in Tx and see what other kind of restaurants in this area. We happened to come across Thai Banana Leaf. I’ll be honest here, usually when I think of Thai food, their portion are always small and pricey. I have been to many Thai restaurants and experience aren’t too bad but just their portion. So we came across this place because I was dying for some papaya. The place was pretty busy when we got there. Loved the environment and staffs were really nice. We ordered papaya salad, beef salads, orange chicken and drunken noodles. When they brought the papaya salad out I was pleased to see the portion and after that all our food came and I was surprised. If you haven’t had drunken noodles, this place is the best drunken noodles I ever had. It’s hard to find Thai restaurants or other Asian restaurants that makes drunken noodles with a good flavor. If your from the west coast and been to Thai restaurants that makes good drunken noodles dishes you know what I mean. This will be one of my place to come for the next time if I ever come visit TX. Love it and and we really enjoyed our food experience here. My husband loved it and so did my kids❤️

Very good food. Great Hospitality

By ny2plano |

Owner is tremendous. Always smiling. Makes for a great atmosphere. Food is solid Thai food with no surprises.

Good food.. the decor on...

Good food.. the decor on the inside of this place is a little weird and unappealing

Service slow but food great

By Richard S |

Arrived about 7:30 asked for a table for five and we were seated right away that's were the good service ended. After 10 minutes the host came and got our drink order still no waitstaff. 10 more minutes and our drinks arrived with a waitress. Who took our appetizer order and main course. The night progressed and no appetizers showed up, suddenly our main courses did. Come to find out the appetizer order never got put in! My first visit so I don't know if this is the norm or not. As to the food its was all GOOD. We all ordered something different and not a bad meal in the group. We will return because if the food is that good they may have been short staffed.

I think dining in would be better

By Bill W |

I want to start by saying I ordered my dinner for delivery and the service in that aspect was perfect. For dinner I ordered the red curry chicken with noodles and the fresh spring rolls. The spring rolls were a bit over filled and the seams were bursting making it hard to hold together. There was also an over abundance of iceberg lettuce in them leaving then crunchy and flavorless. The peanut sauce was good and made up for the bland flavor of the roll itself. The curry was quite tasty, but a bit too much broth. I received a quart of curry and a small container of noodles. The noodles had no flavor on tie their own and did not absorb the curry flavors. In hindsight I should have went with the rice. The flavor of the curry was just about right with lots of veggies and chicken and the right amount of heat. I only wish it were easier to eat in the hotel as much of the basil and hot peppers had settled to the bottom. I think this would have been much better in the restaurant.

Each item doesn’t disappoint

By Dallas tideintexas |

Have been there numerous times and always order something different. I love how you can choose the heat factor of each item, from 1-5 on most items. Whether takeout or dining in we have been very pleased with the quality and freshness of the food...and always have leftovers as the portions are large.

Decent price - fine taste -good food

By Vinod M |

I went to the Banana Leaf today. we were 5 adults and two kids. We ordered chicken soup and platter as starters. The platter included chicken satay, chicken wings, veg spring rolls, pork dumpling on a side of salad. also ordered cajun fried rice and mango chicken with white rice. we had hot sake drink. overall experience was pleasant one.

Very good Thai but on the spicy side

By nat1225 |

We love Thai food and have expanded our choice of venue. We had been to Banana Leaf in the past but not recently. As we get older, we generally do not like food to be too spicy. We forgot to tell the server that we wanted the dishes to be on the mild side and the chicken pad thai was far too spicy. The spring rolls and the shrimp dish were fine. The food was fresh and tasty just the way we like it.

Love this place.

By Jose O |

If you've never been to Banana Leaf, don't be surprised when the Asian owner greets you and/or takes your order. His heavy Texas accent takes you aback. His food is consistent and excellent.

Excellent experience

By Cami C |

A colleague of mine wanted to take myself and another colleague here for lunch. Now im not the type to try food outside the box... I had my doubts in the beginning. I ordered the honey sesame chicken. Oh my gosh it was amazing. The service was amazing. I highly recommend this place! Definitely going back!

ALWAYS great

By TexasOjo |

This is our go to Thai place. It's always excellent and we usually have dinner. They have an excellent weekday lunch special! All the salad and soap you can eat plus an entree.

Taste, quantity and quality

By Connie C |

Ordered delivery due to the times. It came quicker than expected, hot and fresh. For two of us we ordered the appetizer platter and the shrimp appetizer. The platter of food was HUGE! Our favorites were the wings, spring rolls, chicken satay however all were good. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and sauces were all good. Will definitely order again and hope to eat in the restaurant once restrictions are lifted.

Less than impressed

By brownspare |

Bad food, average service. Tried about 3-4 different items with the rest of my group and it was all bad food quality.

Love Banana Leaf!

By 4Barry |

I love this place! At lunch they serve soup, salad, and your entrée. The hot and sour soup, is really good. I always get the Cajun fried rice with chicken. Steve, the owner is Cajun as he lived in Louisiana and is a really funny guy. My husband likes the red and yellow curry, and my girls love the pineapple and cashew fried rice. The atmosphere is very nice as he recently remodeled. Service is always great. Have you ever kept eating even if you were stuffed because the food tasted so great? Well, this is what happens to us every time we eat here. :)

Very affordable Thai.

Nice Thai Place

By Kris167 |

I wanted to try Thai when i was in Dallas and found this place. After looking at the reviews it got, wanted to give it a try. I ordered red curry and liked it.

Very nice

By abcotur |

Large selection. Good service and friendly staff. Good Food and fresh. Big portions. Not to noisy good place to have a conversation . Reasonable prices .

Something's gone wrong

By I M |

We've ate at and enjoyed this restaurant in the past. Recently, however, we ordered takeout and the food was inedible - just awful. The pad thai was sweet and sickly. Don't know what happened but I just can't bring myself to try again.

Always consistantly great!

By Likeness |

My husband and I eat here often. There are many dishes which are our favorites and we have never had anything bad. Param, Jungle Shrimp are on the special menu and two of my favorites. Crab fried rice, Shrimp and Scallop Pad Thai, Pad Woon Sen, all the curries are wonderful. These are just some of my favorites. The service is always fantastic. Such a comfortable place. They have a great wine and drink selection as well. They make a great Lyceei and Pomogranite martini.

Good Thai, great portions/service

By JrMushroom |

Finding decent restaurants in Plano has been a chore! This place exceeded our expectations for food and service. I will say that, somehow, though we were one of only three tables, we were somehow surrounded by screaming kids. One of them landed in my booth. The portions were large and the food was good, and the staff was nice and attentive.

MMMMMmmmmm Angel Wings. Not a huge Thai fan, but when god calls, get Angel Wings

Good Thai

By jncl22 |

This place was pretty decent. The Tom yom needed more flavor and was barely spicy. The beef salad was good and so was the pineapple fried rice and the waterfall beef yummm. The portions were big! I wish it was the same for the dessert. We had sticky rice and mango. I feel like they barely gave you enough sticky rice.

Banana Leaf - An Appealing Thai Food Experience

By Dennis G |

Dinner For Two on March 7th, 2014. This was our first visit to Banana Leaf and we were not disappointed! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated right away - yes, we had a reservation, but we showed up 15 minutes late! I would have rated our experience Excellent, except the Chicken Wings appetizer was very greasy, my advice, skip this item. My wife ordered the Beef Salad - portion was oversized, lots of meat, very tasty and spicy, just the way she likes it. :-) I ordered the Basil (Pad-Kapow) Shrimp and it was delicious, lots of shrimp, cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Pork Thai Fried Rice - but it came out with chicken, not pork...but was delicious. We ordered a few drinks but no dessert. Overall, prices were fair, food was fresh and portions were oversized and service was excellent. If you like authentic Thai food, you will find Banana Leaf to be very appearing!

Return to The Banana Leaf

By Ralph B |

We made a return to the Banana Leaf Thai Cuisine, in North Dallas. I took a relative from out of town! It was GREAT. We had a late lunch and the Owner, Steve Jong (The Cajun Asian!), came out and visited. We could not have asked for a better meal. The atmosphere is very nice and VERY CLEAN! ...It was my 3rd visit and...Yes, we will return!

Incredible food & service

By Dwaine M |

I live nearby and drove past this place for more than 15 years without ever going in. It is in a nice area of Far North Dallas. My wife went with some friends several years ago and was very impressed. She convinced me to give it a try several years ago. It is terrific! The menu is extensive. The food is terrific. What keeps us coming back besides the food is the service. We are greeted promptly. The dining room is nice. Keep in mind, the average dinner entree price is ~$15. Portions are generous, served promptly and delicious. What really caught my attention since I spent many years in the restaurant industry during school is how well trained the waitstaff and management team are. We go there once or twice a month. Last Saturday, 4/21/18 we went in. As we were being seated, the manager greeted us and thanked us for coming in. Was around 8:30 PM and they were busy, just a few tables available. Cameron was our server, and he was outstanding. He has been our waiter before. After the food was served, the manager came by after the first few bites and asked if everything was okay. I have been to much more expensive restaurants where the wait and management staff are not nearly as good as the training the ownership and leadership team has done with the Banana Leaf team. Oh, did I mention the food is terrific? Go there once, you will certainly go again!

Food is tasty But.

By lchilcoat2000 |

Food was tasty ordered appetizers : Fish cakes Chicken satay Thai dumplings Dumpling were not cooked enough and still hard , not appetizing ! Not good flavor .. Fish cakes and chicken satay very good. Waiter and service was excellent

Always great

By mongoose1020 |

The Pad Thai is mixed well with all those delicate flavors discernible in a banquet of tasty treats. This is simply the best Thai food in Dallas!

Pretty awesome Thai

By Ojas N |

This is definitely the best thai restaurant in the DFW area. The ambiance is not top notch but that's not why I go to restaurants anyway. The service is friendly and quick. The food is outstanding. Must try their fried banana dessert.

Delicious and more

By Joyce F |

My first trip to this delightful find in a shopping strip mall, but what a delight. Ordered the Pad Thai that flowed over the edges of a large plate. At the end of the meals, I noticed that others also brought enough leftovers for another meal or two. Others bragged on the coconut soup, and sampler -- enough for thee diners, and something blue in a glass with an umbrella that others ordered. I don't drink and drive, so I opted for tea and wasn't disappointed. I'll go again and again. I'm working my way through the menu.

Great Food!

By Esraa J |

I've been going to this restaurant for years. It is in a nice location and the interior is beautiful which makes it a great place to dine out. The food can be a bit expensive and sometimes too greasy, but they serve large portions. Also the service is pretty quick especially when ordering take out and with their deals take out isn't too expensive.

Good food/good value

By 1RB |

Based on reviews we'd seen, we stopped there after a round of golf, but didn't know if we'd be accepted (I was in golf shorts). We were welcomed and seated promptly (it was early on a Saturday evening). Our orders were correct and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her red curry chicken. I had the spicey basil chicken, and it was excellent, and way more than I could eat. My wife had not had Thai cuisine before, and is now a convert. Would definitely go back. Wish they were in Houston.

Worth it

By James B |

Food was great-especially the pad thai and tom yum. Fried rice was good as well. The atmosphere didn't feel like a place to go with kids-more like a place to catch up with friends. The service was not bad at all, very friendly waiters.

Authentic Thai Food at a Decent Price

By Juliette0416 |

I have ordered from this restaurant several times and have always been satisfied. This last time I ordered a "Hot Pot" with seafood (Shrimp, squid, mussels, scallops) and it was excellent. I ordered rice to go with it and that was a treat as well. You can order as spicy or as mild as you like. They also have Thai tea which is good. Friendly people, atmosphere, and great food at a nice price-you cannot go wrong!

YUMMY THAI-GIVE IT A TRY

By rhawaii |

This was our first meal from Banana Leaf. We tried them for lunch and had our meal delivered. We were not disappointed and enjoyed our meal Lunch was affordable at $8...it included an entree and a salad. We had chicken pad thai which was so delicious. You could make it as a spicy as you wanted, an the portions were really enough to feed 2 people. We also had spring rolls which was perfect. The ordering system was easy to navigate and I loved how fast it was to order my meal. The delivery time was a little long, but that's to be expected around lunch time. Thank you for a delicious meal..we will be back for more great food.

Very good

By Eddie NYC |

I just moved here from the city, and I live Thai food. I’m normally disappointed with the quality of the Thai dishes. Manhattan is renown for its excellent food, including Thai, but I’ve had tons of bad Thai food there. I did, however, try so many restaurants until I was able to narrow it down to two regular spots that I would hit up every week. This place, banana leaf, is on the level of those two. When I ordered the food, I set my expectations low because I’ve been let down so many times. Banana leaf not only met, but they surpassed my expectations on so many levels. I have some feedback that I can provide directly that I believe will only make one particular thing better. But overall, excellent food here. About to make this a regular spot.

Terrible food and service

By chasingamy21 |

I recently went there to place a to go order for lunch. Upon walking in the door, no one was there to greet me. At least 3 waiters walked by without even looking at me. I finally had to stop one and ask where I place to go orders. She didn't understand what I was talking about and asked if I wanted a table. Definitely a language barrier. Finally a manager came and took my order. It wasn't ready for 30 minutes!!! The manager did apologize, but then made excuses about how they have a catering order that is taking up the kitchen and he'd rather it be really busy then have no one in there at all. I saw tables getting their food while sat and waited.. so i know his excuse was just that.. and excuse. He did reduce my bill, so that was good. When I was finally able to sit down to eat, the food was so disappointing! The Pad Se Ew was way too heavy on the eggs and the tofu was bland and the sauce was bland. Not many veggies either. I also got the eggrolls.. which were so small and had way too much wrapper and not enough filling. The pineapple fried rice was also a disappointment in flavor. I feel ripped off. The manager offered me coupons and stuff.. but I really have no desire to go back.

Dissatisfied and Disappointed

By schorton |

I love Thai food and I’ve tried several Thai restaurants all over the DFW area and Banana Leaf was by far one of the best. Keep in mind I’ve been here many many times. However, yesterday I placed my order picked up my food and headed home. I was so excited and was looking forward to enjoying my Thai food, cause I haven’t eaten there in a while. I was highly disappointed with the first bite. It did not taste like Thai. It did not have that authentic thai taste. Unexceptionable! I really think management has changed! So if your looking for authentic Thai food, this is not the restaurant anymore! You will be highly disappointed!

Old establishment

By jittus2015 |

This restaurant may have changed ownership over the years but have neither lost the authenticity of the food or how to remain competitive in the new environment of Thai Restaurants popping up very quickly everywhere. Weekday lunches from $6.99, Texas size portions and great taste keeps this place very busy. Service is very good. A must visit in my book. Try their new lunch offering- Cajun fried rice- Thai style, if you like it hot.

Disappointed

By tahass |

I've been passing this place for years and finally decided to stop in and try it out. Thai food is known for being spicy and flavorful. I was in the mood for both but was quite disappointed. Not a lot of flavor at all. Guess I will stay with my go to Thai place from now on!

Best Lunch for Thai

By Richard R |

great lunches, large portions, reasonable prices, great services, everything we have gotten is great and usually have enough for a take home dinner

As good as Bangkok!

By Mark H |

This neighborhood is blessed with a couple really good Thai restaurants. I have been to Bangkok several time and am always comparing the food to my local favorite at the Banana Leaf. Hard to beat it! Great food, friendly service and very reasonable prices. And the food is enough for two meals, so I take half home to eat for dinner. Highly recommended.

Refuse to serve dinner

By Preet K |

What a bad customer service. We went for dinner on 30th November at around 9:05 pm. When we reached there, they refused to serve us saying that they close at 9:00 pm. When I checked their web site, it say their closing time 9:30 during week days. Their manager wrote me on paper that they close at 9:00 pm. When I asked to put the name and date, the manager refused.

Long Time Player in the Far North Dallas Food Game

Canun twist gives the Banana Leaf Thai (formerly Chinese...) restaurant an interesting backstory. Ask about this when you go here.

Wonderful food

By 52jim |

You are missing one of the best in Dallas. Service is great. Food is great. Price is right. You need yo come nod enjoy the place

It was okay but there's way better in town!

By jenniferteddlie |

Our food was average. They basically only have one or two wines to choose from. I felt the next day that my food had msg in it but I could be completely wrong. We won't be back only because there are way better places.

Great Thai, Huge Portions, Reasonable Price!

By NicoleHT |

I love this place! I have been enjoying the food here for the last 4 years and each time the food is spot on. No matter what I order it is always good! My favorite is the Pad See (l)ew with tofu or beef. Their curries, satay and other dishes are always out of this world. The servers are super nice and if you're really lucky you'll get to meet the owner, Steve. He is great!

Thai presented in a pleasing way

By 2flylo |

We recently moved our office into this area, opening not far from Banana Leaf. I like a sit down lunch, since the fast food now costs as much as the sit down restaurants. So I hunt for an assortment of places to go. We like Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, BBQ, Sushi, and more. I tried Banana Leaf to see if they were good for lunch. And they are! I started with Chicken Pad Thai as a baseline and it was excellent. The lunch portion was enough for two. And if you eat lunch by yourself, expect to take a box home for later!.

Loved it yummy.......always ready to go there...!!

ALWAYS WONDERFUL FOOD!!

By tjming |

My husband and I love going ot this wonderful restaurant! The food is so fresh and bright! I have NEVER had a bad or even so so meal at The Banana Leaf! Even our children ages 9-15 enjoy the food!! Steve is the owner and he is so accomidating and remembers return customers giving it even a personal touch experience. The peach tea is amazing and my favorite meal is the Basil Chicken - my husband's favorite is the Beef Pad Pling King. Get the appetizer sampler to try the different options and sauces for dipping. Wonderful lettuce wraps - that is what our girls like to order for their meal. Also they can make your meal to order as far as how spicy you might want your meal. Everything is made fresh - not sitting under heat lights. All in all this is one of our favoite places to eat!! On a side note - they have great lunch specials that include the soup of the day and a really good salad with a peanut sauce included with your meal.

Authentic Thai Cuisine

By 12Coffee |

What a fabulous treat we had for lunch at Banana Leaf Thai Cuisine! Excellent waitstaff and wonderful ambience. Each entree for lunch special comes with a small salad with peanut sauce and a bowl of soup. I ordered a spicy basil noodle and boy I savored every bite. I couldn't even finish my dish as it was loaded with flat noodle, broccoli, green and red pepper, julienne carrot and shredded coleslaw with lots of chicken strips. Yum!! I opted for level 5 of spiciness and it's fierily spicy! Be warned. My friend ordered their mango chicken rice. The chicken was lightly breaded and very juicy indeed! Price is very reasonable considering the portion and good service. Will definitely come back for more!

By Chance Late Lunch stop

By Ralph B |

During a trip to Dallas for an errand. We decided to stop for a late lunch. There were three restaurants in a row..Mexican(A good one) a French (been there before...it was good) and a Thai. I am a fan of Thai food and the Banana Leaf was the choice... The restaurant was very clean...The service was great , the Food great ...and a ton of it, and very reasonalbe. The Bathrooms were also VERY clean. I could not have been more pleased. I'll go back in a heart beat!

Great service and good Thai food

By BPY123 |

The first impression we have when we entered the restaurant is wow, you will be amazed by its decoration. Next the friendliness and smile from the staffs are amazing, making you feel like coming back even without tasting the food. Anyway just like the service, the food are good, I especially like the pad kee mao, one of the best here. Yellow curry is another stand out one. Hopefully I can try all other options as well.

Banana Leaf Thai Cuisine

By Vintage Dad |

We went to have lunch here. The place was busy on a weekday. We ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, Lemongrass Chicken Lettuce Wrap and our dessert is Mango with Sticky Rice. They’re delicious. Serving Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. Nicely decorated Thai motif restaurant. Spoke to the owner. He’s very friendly and a good conversationalist.

Wonderful!!!!!!Excellent!!!✨⭐️

Beautiful restaurant…employees services was excellent, the owners intact with customers, food was excellent.. I visited Thailand before and the food reminded me of the taste I experienced in Thailand. Everything was wonderful, atmosphere, food and service.

The best Thai food EVER!

By oupharmd |

My husband & I have been coming here for the past 5 years. I have never had Thai food that is so flavorful and consistent every time we dine here. My favorite dish here is probably the thai beef salad and my husband's is pineapple & shrimp fried rice. Sometimes we'll get the Pad Thai or the Pad Woon Sen (spicy!) also. The manager (Steve) is hillarious! He's this asian guy with a cowboy accent who knows everything about every dish. We usually take our out-of-town guests to eat here when they want something asian and Steve will suggest a few dishes for us to all share (family style). We will continue eating at this place as long as it stays in business (which I can see it'll be around for a VERY long time).

Service as a bit haphazard. Food was good. Price was excellent

By 286russellm |

Visited on a Sunday night at 6:00 didn't need to book, but a large party came in about 6:30 and that seemed to slow service quite a bit. Large selection, portions were very large (3 of 4 were able to take home 50%). Most dishes were $12-18. Glass of wine was $9.50. Total bill for 2 excluding tip was $38

Great choice for business lunch

By CynthiaCharleen |

This is a clean and elegant Thai restaurant in North Dallas right off Preston Road. We had great food and it was quiet so we could talk and actually hear each other. We were not rushed to leave and had a nice leisurely lunch.

Quality and huge portions

By Hidrfoot01 |

My wife and I have eaten here numerous times. Joe, the owner is very personable and works the crowd to make sure everything runs smoothly. Dishes are prepared fresh to order and portions are substantial. The pace is leisure and there is no rush -so enjoy the experience.

Good Thai

By HOTTOMALE |

The food is really good. Pad Sew Yew and Yellow curry are my favorites. The thai iced tea is always refreshing and delicious. Prices are good but lunch is the best deal! Unlimited soup and salad with lunch special.

Tops!

By pyavner |

Have eaten at Banana Leaf about five times, and the food is consistently delicious, well-served, and plentiful. It may be a little bit more "American Thai" than "Thai Thai," but that ain't all bad. Service is gracious, prices are reasonable, and the dining experience is always good.

Lovely for all-around enjoyable date

By Justady |

Busy dinner hours easily accommodated with several dining areas, patio dining, and spacious foyer if you have to wait a bit - all sporting Asian decor that doesn't try too hard. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Drinks neither too weak or heavy. Plenty of familiar dishes to choose from, plus a few welcome surprises, as the owner (Steve) seems to have a fun, inventive streak. He's fun to talk to when he comes around to see how everyone is doing. I've been visiting for years, and always enjoy it for lunch with a friend, a nice date with the hub, or family get-togethers. Other stuff: I would rate this casual during the day, to business cazh/dressy in the eves. Easy parking. Clean, and refreshingly attractive restrooms.

Excellent quality of food, good prices and excellent service

By 286russellm |

Dinner for 4 - at 6:00pm - no problem getting a table but was filling up by 7:00 so a booking might be advisable. Menu was extensive. Each of us (4) selected meals we had enjoyed elsewhere. Server was very helpful and attentive, Meals came quickly and were impressive - quantity was "a lot". Only one diner finished their meal at the table (lots of seafood and noodles - kept him quiet for a while) the rest took home about half. Price was very good - $54 without tip for 4, including one glass of wine and 3 hot teas. Have tried this restaurant before and has been consistently good.

Every time we are in Dallas, Banana Leaf is in the plans

By VEPGHP09 |

We no longer live in the Dallas area, but still have a condo and are back often. Every time we are in Dallas, the Banana Leaf is on the itinerary. I love the fried catfish dinner (It isn't Southern style, guaranteed!) and my wife is working her way through the menu. The prices are about right and the only time we are disappointed is when we don't see the owner. Sometimes it is a little difficult getting a waitress to understand exactly what you are saying, but they are very personable and pleasant and quick to get help in making sure that your order is the way you want it.
