This little spot on NE Freemont offers terrific noodle dishes, many with fresh made noodles. They combine spices and styles to create fusion cuisine that’s casual but first rate in the food department.

I am not a Thai food person and was expecting more of Chinese food. I was thinking need and broccoli was safe. They had a small menu, but I found something I liked. I had a rice bowl and chicken skewers. It was more than enough food for me.

This small bistro-style restaurant on NE Fremont provides an interesting approach to Thai cuisine. The tamarind-papaya salad and various curry dishes are excellent and so much different than the normal fare served in Thai restaurants in the US. The place can be a bit noisy on some evenings but the energy is high and the food is good.

Just passing through Portland on our way to camp in the Gorge, I had a late night Asian food craving and total luck brought us here. We came at 11 seeking food to go and we were so beyond happy with what we got. The curry french fries Nd glass noodles were a massive hit with us and we plan on coming back for more and trying the rest of the menu. What an absolute gem to just stumble across as you pass through town. I hope someone else gets as lucky.

delicious versions of thai street food treats, and an awesome bar with bespoke cocktails that add a southeast asian twist.

Veg options, GF options, meaty options! What's not to love? My person thought he didn't like chicken until he had the fried chix at Bang Bang. Now we can't wait to return. The rice puffs are phenomenal. Great curry, too!

Glad to have found this place for dinner. I had the Green Curry which was very good. The cocktails are very good also. We dined early on a Sunday night when they opened at 5. Food and service very good.

We come here all the time, Best Old Fashioned, period. Great Service, the owner is there almost every day. Try it and you will be back.

I along with a friend decided to try this Thai influenced place and it’s a yummy little place. I had the red curry with beef and it was so tasty! The ingredients and service was fantastic.

The pumpkin curry bowl was excellent. Also, the spring rolls. Everybody in our party of 6 was happy with what they ordered.

Casual, great bar, really cold beer and lovely Tai Bowl food. I especially liked the Fried Veg Roll, I don't usually go for that, but it's amazing here. The Beef salad was too rare for me, but my husband said it was stunning and so tender and taste. I would recommend a fun date night or with friends for not much money. I thought it was delicious and I have been several times.

Great to find a fabulous eatery after hours! After 12 hour shift finding a gem like this is a Bonus! Delicious food (the best egg rolls I've ever eaten) and good choice of draft beers or bottled. Mixed drinks or wine if I'd rather! Friendly service, clean and indoor/sidewalk sitting in a great neighborhood! I'm a traveling nurse and this is my first week in the area! I got lucky!

Great Neighborhood place in Beumount that offers tasty Indonesian fusion dishes as fair prices. Never had anything here that wasn't terrific. Friendly staff and family atmosphere. The rice noodle dishes in particular are among the very best things to offer here. A must stop for lunch or a casual dinner if you're in NE Portland.

Stopped by on my first night in town for late night eats. Delicious. The drunken wings were finger licking good. Loved the Spring rolls. Over the top Curry Fry Deluxe. Will be back to this gem again!

There are not many places you can get decent food after 10 p.m. in Portland, but this is one of them. Warm lighting, a cute bar, with enough tables for the evening crowd (I went at 8:30). My friend had the chicken wings and they were delicious. They were larger than your typical wings, and it was a HUGE portion for the price! I really liked my Papaya salad, and LOVED the charred long beans. The ground chicken skewer was very simple, but it gave me the protein I was craving without stuffing myself to the point I would fall asleep at the table. The right mix of ambiance and price point for the type of Asian comfort food they serve. I will definitely be back!

I was in Portland for business. As a person with celiac disease, I found Bang Bang via my phone app. I had 4 business associates with me. We all went in never having tried it. We all really enjoyed the food. It is very well presented, looks appetizing, and tastes even better! I had several items on the menu - including the dessert. I have no history of eating Thai food. I will be back. Cost ~$200 for 5 people - including apps, a couple drinks, dessert, and tip.

Wow! Not often you go to a restaurant and feel that the food was prepared and cooked just for you, but that's how I felt. From the start, owner Kate Wood made our part of four feel special and know that we had her full attention. Kate helped, guided and advised us on everything from the flavours and spice to our choice of cocktails. (I'm more of a wine or whiskey man, but those drinks were to die for and she got my palate just right!). Food was simple yet succulent and the combinations made for an explosion of flavour. If I had one niggle it was the limited choice of vegetarian starters, but that's only because I normally kill for a good spring roll-type bite and I'm a veggie. If it Portland, or you live there, Bang Bang is a MUST! See you soon Kate - your place is the bomb.

Bang Bang is fresh, tasty and a true Portland hipster kinda place. The food is good - though not the typical local Thai experience where you get two meals worth in one order. It's pricier than those kind of places, but very good. Clean and comfortable in terms of the space.

Tucked away on NE Fremont in a quiet but burgeoning food district.... fusion Thai food with great late night happy hour, fresh takes on Thai, and slamming cocktails.

I ordered the silver hammer cocktail which was very tasty if u like rose and champagne. My dish was the pineapple curry with glass noodles which was not too spicy for me! They have a house made shiracha sauce which is very spicy so only a little was needed. The buffalo cauliflower is also delicious! They have a small menu so check it out beforehand, no peanuts and no dairy products.

Bang Bang is one of Portland's Best! The service is friendly, the drinks are fab and the food is always so delicious!!!! It seem that there are dishes for everybody's preferences. One of the great touches is that the curry comes in a small pitcher and the guest can add as much or as little depending on their preference. Cocktail list is terrific and they make their own bitters. A great place for some drinks and small plates, the complete meal, or late night indulgence in after dinner drinks and coconut fritters.

We had such high hopes. We came in, the place looks nice, clean and friendly (or so we thought). We were seated right away, given the happy hour menu and when we tried to order off it, were told it started at 10 (it was 6). When we indicated that it was our first time and wanted some recommendations we were totally underwhelmed. I asked about the short rib skewer and was told "its some short rib meat on a stick". but they told us it was great...not so much, think hot beef jerky. The curry took FOREVER, while we were waiting several tables, including the ones next to us, received a complementary snack. Looked like pork rinds, both tables were ranting how great they were. Sucked not to get any. Then the waiter told them about the amazing specials of the night..again not so much for us. ARG. Then came the curry, I had the green curry with some mystery sausage (it tasted like vegan sausage) a tiny bit of pork belly and not enough rice. The curry sauce came in a pitcher and that was a nice touch. My wife had the vegetarian version and the tofu could have been used as a brick, it was uneatable. To top it off we did not get asked if everything was ok.. No more Bang Bang for us

We love this restaurant! Curry bowls to die for and perhaps our favorite appetizer in the city, a green papaya salad. Add friendly, attentive service and moderate prices and you have a restaurant to go back to again and again.

My husband and I went here for my birthday. I love Thai food and after visiting Thailand I have been unable to find many places with authentic Thai food here in the US. If you're looking for authentic, bang bang is definitely the place to go! Their green papaya salad was spot-on and literally identical to what I had in Bangkok. Their Curry was also very good and I loved their version of mango sticky rice for dessert, made into a custard. So, so good! I can't wait to go back. Wish we lived closer! I will definitely be making another trip to Portland just to visit Bang Bang again.

Disappointed, went to have lunch on Sunday and the place wasn't open. I have no idea what the foods like only by what the reviews said.

Checking out NE Portland for a nearby GF choice, we went to Bang Bang, all Gluten Free, a lot of meat on the menu, could use more fish only and veggie only entrées. We got 2 curry bowls , good portions, tasty, a little spicy, overall a good experience.

This place literally had the best old fashioned I've ever had, for only eight bucks during the late night happy hour. Unbelievable!

I hate reviews that only say, "good cocktails..." but that is what i feel compelled to write... the menu is not extensive but they do have some rare and exquisite tastes that allow them to make somethings you may not find elsewhere. Cozy, friendly, quiet... maybe retro, maybe fusion... not the club scene... a nice addition to american cocktail culture.

I was invited to dinner here with some old friends and we had a most memorable night. This is a Thai-inspired curry restaurant with a focus on bowls of firey hot delight - vegetarian, vegan and meat/fish eaters will not be disappointed. Bang Bang is a neighborhood eatery that hits the right notes: options are intentionally limited, the food is fresh and prepared to perfection; the wine list is ample, a few beers to choose from. Their cocktails alone are worth stopping in for - a must unusual combination of strengths - cocktails and curries. The service was paced perfectly and we felt very warmly welcomed. To be fair, it was a quiet night - < 50% occupancy. This is a place that excels in honest food and a place to return to. Thanks to the team for their kindness and warm welcome.

This was our second visit and our friends first. We very much enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower! All four of us! We each tried different curry entree’s. All of us enjoyed our choice! The server was very friendly and helpful. His wine suggestion was spot on. It wasn’t super busy on a Sunday night which made it nice time wise. Food came promptly and was hot and delicious!

I met friends for happy hour. For a brand new restaurant they seemed to do everything right. Nice atmosphere, really great food at a reasonable price. I cannot wait to try the patio. I did not try the cocktails as I am on a cleanse- but I will soon!

"Bang, bang on the door, baby Bang, bang on the door Bang, bang on the door, baby Bang Bang Your what? Tin roof, rusted" -B52s That fabulous 90's era song probably has nothing to do with this place...but it got stuck in my head as I was happily noshing on the tasty soy-garlic-shallot-breaded amazing Drunken Wings and imbibing on perhaps the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. Both are only $6 each during the late night happy hour, which is every day 9:30pm - midnight...yes please! But don't be a rude person whom orders food 10 minutes before closing. They call it "Thai-inspired comfort food", I'm Asian, and I can dig it. Okay, I only had the wings, but I'm sure the rest of the food is awesome too. Love the clean modern decor, seems like it would be a good spot for a first date without being cheap or pretentious. Okay, I've been with the same lady for 18+ years, so maybe I'm wrong.

Dropped in for a takeout of the glass noodles during late-night happy hour. Totally delicious—and the sriracha's made in-house!

Returned from Thailand a few months ago and wanted to try some US Thai food - the food was good - but it was not like the Thai we had in Bangkok. Service was good and we enjoyed the meal.

My two daughters and granddaughter treated me to dinner at Bang Bang for my birthday. Reservations had been made, and we were seated right away near the window. Our waiter did a wonderful job making suggestions, and took up the "surprise me" challenge for my cocktail. Excellent choice. The food was divine, and although the entrees were quite generous, the appetizer portions could have been a little bigger. (Hard to divide 3 of anything among 4 people). Would definitely return!

Asked friends we were visiting for a good place to take them for dinner, and this was their first choice. We got there in time for Happy Hour and shared several of the food items: skewered giant prawns, grilled tofu, Spicy Thai Buffalo Cauliflower (highly recommended!), Summer Salad, spring rolls. They were almost a meal in themselves, but we got bowl entrees anyway. I got the glass noodles bowl, and friends got the green curry bowl. All the ingredients were distinct, the sauces interesting, and the mixture was great. I had the red ale, but my friends had cocktails (Silver Hammer and Spicy Pineapple Margarita) and I got a taste of each...again very distinct and tasty. Only issue may be the music volume, but it was tolerable and we were able to have a great dinner and conversation. I'm looking forward to coming back when I next visit Portland.

Stumbled upon this restaurant by accident when visiting the jewelry shop next door. Tucked away in the same building, this one room cozy restaurant, which does have some outside seating, is easy to miss on NE Fremont. Went with a friend, and decided to splurge on a spur of the moment dinner. We had cocktails (mine wasn't on the happy hour menu, but it was very, very tasty!), appetizers (their dairy-free version of 'panzenella' salad & spring rolls), main courses (pineapple curry bowl & green curry bowl) ... even dessert (one choice only -- an unique rice pudding). I'm a pretty good cook, and so I judge whether a restaurant is worth the money if they make the food better than I could at home. The cocktail, the salad and the curry bowl were near perfect! My two complaints about the food: they should have given us more rice for the price we paid for the meals, and the rice pudding needs to be presented in a different bowl that doesn't have steep sides. I felt like I was on a mining expedition to get to the rice part of the dessert beneath the hard and rather large pieces of brittle. It was more of a struggle than a pleasurable experience. Having said that, the decor is tasteful and romantic, the service friendly and non-pretentious. The entire menu is gluten and dairy free! I can easily say this is one of the best dining experiences I've had out in Portland in a very, very long time. Go!

It was a bit chilly eating outside with no heaters but the food was worth it. Not your usual Thai food the green curry is amazing! I can’t wait to eat here again!

So we're searching for places in Portland that serve the low-carbers by choice. There are actually places that do!...and on the list was Bang Bang. I read reviews by my fellow Trip Advisors and decided to check it out. We went a couple of weeks ago and to our amazement/disappointment it was not open during the lunch hour...who'd've thunk, huh? Two hour drive each way wasted! So we didn't pay a special trip last night, but happened to be in town. We showed up at about 6pm and I guess it was just getting started because the long line that I had envisioned was not...yay!...we even found parking right in front of the building (street parking of course) yay again. We walked in and weren't greeted. There was a sign that said "Please wait to be seated"...we waited, but then a girl from behind the counter looked up and said "you can sit wherever you want". So we chose a table by the window. The place is really small inside and the thought of the amount of people I had pictured in my mind and the size of this place just suffocates my imagination! There was a young lady placing silverware at the table we chose and she was very friendly, she was not our server. Another girl came with a bourbon bottle of water (cool) and took our order. We ordered 3 skeweres: chicken, beef and pork belly; drunken wings and tendon puffs. The wings are really good!...they're crispy full sized wings, not buffalo wing sized...dip them in the sriracha they bring you and its NOM NOM time!! The tendon puffs are basically like the pork skin poofy things you can buy at the store...but these are warm and literally crackling in the bowl! The skewers are quite small but the beef and chicken are delicious and the pork belly is so sinfully good...I could hear that voice in my head listing how many laws of wrongness I was violating... but my inner keto warrior slashed them voices and told me "eat up!"...and I did, and it was sooo good!!! We don't drink alcohol so my husband ordered an iced tea, which they do not have...but they brought him a Thai iced tea and he said it was alright. We placed an order for 3 more skewers each and while we waited it started getting busy.....we waited and waited an waited and it was getting uncomfortably crowded - you are literally elbow to elbow with the next table and besides the people talking the music is really loud (i know, I know.. I must be old!) but it is loud in there, crowded (and it wasn't yet to capacity) and hot! It took a really long time to get our skewers but when they did arrive, our server apologized and even comp'd the tea. We paid the bill that added up before our eyes LOL... and left. No thank you or good night from the girl behind the counter - boohoo :( With that off my list of to-do's in PDX, I would definitely recommend Bang Bang, We probably won't return; once was enough! It was tasty, it fit the keto bill to a T, it was rather pricey for the amount of food we ordered, it was loud which is great for the younger crowd, it's quite snug in there... so if you want a quiet, intimate meal, this is not the place... but i could see how it could be a fun spot for some; the feel is casual/trendy/urban, I love the dishes!... Follow up: As for those voices that my keto warrior defeated... they reproached me later on... I should've stuck to one pork belly.... it is really decadent but worth it... nothing a couple of Tums couldn't remedy.

This place serves very tasty food made for fresh ingredients. The service was very good. A great neighbourhood place to eat with family or friends.

Delicious gluten free Curry Bowls and skewers. Super Old Fashion cocktails. Highly recommend this neighborhood Thai Cuisine restaurant.
Hit and misses
Visite Bang Bang on Friday night. Had the fried rice which was flavorful with bits of crab. We completed the rice before the pumpkin curry arrived. The couple next to us had the same delay. The curry was very nicely presented with the curry in a pitcher to add at our discretion. The curry was missing something; It was bland. We might try it again after they have been open longer.
