Delish!

By Marian K |

Delish! I went at 5:30 on a Saturday, got a table immediately. It was happy hour, so we enjoyed many selected items at half price! We loved the creamy fried shrimp, the Gosling Roll, and the crispy fried tuna. The server was very nice and informative. The atmosphere is very cool, including the restroom wallpaper. Something about Ryan Gosling in that place! I highly recommend!

Great late night scene

By Julie B |

We've visited a few times, each excellent. Service is great, food and drink list outstanding. Really enjoyed the atmosphere they created!

Very good

Food is great as is the atmosphere. Fun place with good service and excellent cocktails. Sushis are tasty and fresh. Would go back.

Bachelorette Dinner

By azparkerfamily |

Brought our group here for my sisters bachelorette dinner since she loves sushi and we wanted to go out in Gaslamp after. It is a fun and hip place, and who doesn't love a Ryan Gosling themed restroom!! The service was decent, but everyone really enjoyed their drinks and food so overall it was a great choice. We sat in the disco ball room which was nice to have a more private area.

Rude Staff/ claimed ID was fake

By Emme F |

Extremely frustrating experience. I enjoy the restaurant and made reservations for my cousins 23rd birthday. They did not let us sit because they claimed her ID was fake. She has never had a problem with her out of state ID before, but the workers talked down to her and said she should go somewhere else if she is under 21.

Man- the mirror ball is H-U-G-E!

By Bruce S |

We had a group gathering in the mirror ball room. It was another great sushi experience for this novice (The Cali people sure do like their sushi!).... The staff was very helpful in both serving and explaining the various choices to this sushi neophyte. I long-table created several fun instances of sharing up and down the table from the variety of choices. They also have large "bowl" drinks from the bar to serve 3-5 people with LONG STRAWS! All in all- a great time was had by all!

Awesome venue, Delicious food!

By wanderlusttt89 |

We purchased tickets to check out Cazzette at Bang Bang last weekend (yes its a concert venue too) and decided to have dinner there after hearing about their famous sushi and punch bowls. We were not disappointed! We walked in around 8pm and they were booked solid until 945pm (make a reservation if you can!), thankfully there were seats available at the bar so we were able to be seated right away. We ordered a punch bowl (about 4 drinks worth) and a couple of rolls and it was very good. Super trendy place...definitely loud and very dark, but great if you enjoy that atmosphere. I wish we had one where I'm from! The best part was being able to leave dinner and walk right into the next room to dance the night away with my friends. The themed bathrooms are awesome and fun too!

food and drinks are a bit overpriced but the ambiance is worth checking out

By TravelingCee |

Considering it's in the heart of downtown, it should be no surprise that the drinks and food are quite overpriced. The food and drinks were decent though. They had some catchy names for their drinks such as "bruce leeroy & son of a bee sting'. But the ambiance of the place is something else, it's definitely worth checking out, from the stairs to the hostess table to the seating area, even the bathroom. For all you Ryan Gosling fans out there, there is a Ryan Gosling bathroom stall dedicated to just him. TIP: go during happy hour

Perfect if you want to eat AND enjoy night life!

By blond creatives |

We had a nice Sushi dinner at Bang Bang on a Friday, unfortunately we walked in late and without a reservation so we where seated in the sushi-room. But we were quite happy with that as we could see the chef's in action! The sushi is good, but not amazing. However, conceptually it makes up for it. We love the interior, especially the clever rice lamp roofing decoration. It feels like a real it-place and we will definitely come back next time we are in San Diego.

Hip Place, Great sushi

By slovaktoo |

I was the oldest guy in the room by. Not complaining, it was a fun place. Very good sushi, excellent service. Note - only open Wed - Sat. Turns into a club later.

Its Sushi, Its a Club, Its FUN!

By Beachtravelerz |

We wanted a party atmosphere, something different. This is it! Sushi or other options for the non sushi type. We had to order a Punch Bowl... its (4) drinks in a punch bowl. They serve you with long straws.. it tasted great, not too strong, not too sweet. The movie type screen shows video with music rockin. The food was great, drinks great, servers were fun. We had a blast. We did leave before it was late, so we missed the club and all the dancing, but they were ready for a full house. We will definitely be back. LADIES... check out the décor in the bathroom stalls :)

Poor service

By Jonathan O |

What's the point of booking a reservation if when you arrive you're told to find a spot at the bar and there are none?! 😡

Party!!!

Great EDM spot. This new location is located on 5th, which is in the middle of everything. I can easily go around and find some good places to eat after dancing all night

Bang Bang San Diego

By Larry K |

First, Bang Bang is located in downtown San Diego, not La Jolla. Great restaurant....not your everyday sushi bar. First, as you enter the restaurant be ready to go up a flight of steps. Then you have your choice of 3 sections...the sushi bar, the dining room and the theatre room. Each had unique decor and music. My wife told me they had the best looking bathrooms. Food was terrific as was the service. Sushi, seaweed salad, miso soup and shrimp fried rice. Some basic items on the menu, but all made with a different twist and spices. Be sure to check the menu for the chef's specials. Friendly and professional service....enjoyed talking to Chef Kappa.

Hospitable....

By Marco A |

We was greeted by the manager curbside and escorted up the staircase, which is beautifully lined with subway tile leading up into the host stand. To the left it opened up into a club setting in a more subdued lighting. To the right we were seated at the sushi bar and enjoyed the dragon roll. The gentleman manning the sushi bar seemed well in control of his environment and was very informative in answering all of our questions about the menu. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. If you are in the San Diego area in the Gaslamp region, I would suggest that you stop in and check it out!

Nice food and atmosphere but shouldn’t then charge cover charge to stay for ‘club’

By Emma M |

We enjoyed our food although we had to wait 25 mins for our table and we got ignored at the bar. Our server on the table was nice. Nice feel to it and dj was good. But as we finished our meal and drinks the tables around us were cleared and we felt a little pressured to speed up. Also as we sat just finishing our drinks after our dessert the bouncer twice hassled us to go to the front desk to pay the cover charge when we didn’t want to stay we just wanted to finish our drinks and leave. Nice but probably wouldn’t go back.

Crappiest Food Ever

By fweridt37 |

Since I tried the food something tasted bad. I kindly asked the waiter to change my food For something else, but the waiter said "he could not change it". Within 10 minutes I was throwing up in the restroom. I asked for the manager and I GOT KICKED OUT OF THE PLACE!!! Of course, first they "kindly escorted me" to the cashier to pay my bill before kicking me out!

Don't make reservation on open table

By Jennifer C |

I made a reso for bang bang on open table for 6 pm on a Friday. Once we were seated in the restaurant and awaiting our other guests we were informed they could not come in to eat because they didn't have ID. I explained it was 6 and we were just eating. We had to leave the restaurant at 6:15. What a disaster. I looked back at the open table and after scrolling all the way down it said 21 and up. Since this is a rarity to have to have ID to be allowed in a restaurant I wish it had been placed right before I made the reservation. What a disaster

Nice experience

By lucycan |

This place is unique, thats for sure. 3 rooms upstairs. Sushi bar, dance floor, then a large bar/seating area. The bar itself is impressive. Great range of drinks which were quite good. We tried a bunch of different sushi and most of it was just OK. Don't come here for the sushi. The ambiance is the draw. Service was good, Kyle did a nice job.

Great food and atmosphere

By picazo31 |

Food was fresh and drinks were great. It was a great atmosphere from dancing and drinks with friend. After 10 there was a dance area.

Great tip

By swensy |

We were ready to go to another location for Sushi and our bartender told us to go to Bang Bang.... Very glad he did. You enter street level and go up to Two options... We chose the bar location. Loved it... would highly recommend this location if you want a fun night with great food... great music as well.

Friendly staff

By Will W |

I went to bang bang on a Saturday night. The music was good and the staff were friendly. I was lucky enough to meet the owners who were very hospitable. Thank you for hosting me. Definitely worth going early evening for the food and following up up with a few drinks when people start to arrive.

Not your everyday sushi restaurant

By Larry K |

good atmosphere. You can choose from the quiet sushi bar, active full service restaurant or the nightlife of an excellent club.,Right in the heart of the gas lamp district. Be careful of,the steep steps upon your arrival, but prepare yourself for an excellent dinner

Bang Bang: Stiff Drinks, Good Food

By YANNIS K |

So I hear this place is also a bar nightclub, so that probably explains the stiff drinks, which are tasty and a good value. We were out on New Year's, so we knew the prices would be higher than normal, but it was nice to get more for your buck. Food was good, we had mostly roles, and let the waiters order for us, which I like doing from time to time. Good scene too. I would like to go back and experience the nightclub.

Fabulous!

Went here with friends...order a punch bowl! Sushi was delish and service was great! The atmosphere was perfect for a girls' night out!

I Love This Place!!

By Rachel T |

I highly recommend coming here. Beautiful setting in the restaurant area and a great atmosphere. Service is very good. Food was delicious and I love the cocktails as well! Especially the blue lagoon! Sake choices not as good. The club area opens up later and was also a lot of fun, although the restaurant/bar area was the best. In the bustling Gaslamp quarter, easy to find

Great atmosphere & great food!

By getoliviahere |

Hello! I visited here with my husband last night after reading a review on line and it was a brilliant evening. To start with, it was happy hour so got a good deal on all food and drinks but the prices were reasonable anyway. We would recommend everything we ate....one of the best sushi meals we have had! Fried calamari, spicy tuna roll, Asian hot wings & fish desire. We shared everything so that we could try more stuff! We ate in the restaurant area which is to the side of the bar, so quieter for a meal, but still a great atmosphere & music. You can see the chef making your meal too! Afterwards we went into the bar & had some cocktails. The cocktails, the music, the decor, the atmosphere is brilliant. We loved it! I would absolutely go again if I come back to San Diego, which I would love to! ( any questions just please ask me)

Fun Place...

By Eloygm |

Fun place, great atmosphere and actually really good food. The crowd was a bit younger than expected but we had a lovely time nonetheless. Please don't forget to order a London Sunburn.
