A Texas Beer Garden - With A Terrific Range of Beer Taps & Creative, Tasty Sausages - Even Veggie Options!

By Soul_Encounters |

At first I could imagine I was in a beer garden in Bavaria or Ukraine - it felt that authentic! But the manager & waiters were far more friendly & the range of drinks & food far better. Texas meets Bavaria! Phenomenal beers - 70+ including many Texas beers, non-gluten beers, wines & ciders. Delighted to find a pear cider like I've enjoyed in the UK. Also tried a great flight of "Middleton Juicy Visions", "Twisted X Whoa Mango", "Stone Scorpion Nowl" & "Community Mosaic." And the food wasn't just pork sausage or bratwurst. Choices are creative, diverse - and they even offer vegetarian so-called "sausage." I tried a ground walnut & pesto whuch was moist, delicious - but for you meat eaters, try anything from duck, bacon & fig to jalapeno cheddar bratwurst to chicken, spinach & sun-dried tomato or maybe a Louisiana lightning or wild boar sausage smoked with garlic and onions? It's an impressive list - better than I've seen in any restaurant around the world - and it represents flavors from around the world also. Finally I was delighted that I could have my vegetarian "sausage" not in a bread roll but as a side with a wonderful salad - big helping of greens & veggies that I'd been longing for! And the icing on the cake was one of the managers coming over to our table, introducing himself & showing us their new building & expansion. I got to see another amazing future tap room & to watch the chefs making their sausages. You know the old saying -"it's like making sausage" - well, this sausage-making was clean, careful, creative with an obvious commitment to quality. The brunch menu also looked wonderful, though we didn't eat brunch so I can't speak to it. And did I mention the live music offered on certain nights? It may be in a happening neighborhood in Austin but don't mistake it for just a typical Friday night hangout. It's much more!

Rainy day on Rainey Street

By susangsays |

Stopped in at Bangers for lunch on a cold gloomy rainy day. Once inside we were transported to a replica of a German beer hall. Multiple home made sausages and beers to choose from. Everything we tried was so good. Helpful friendly service. The atmosphere is fun and on a sunny day or mild evening the huge outdoor garden would be a wonderful spot to eat, drink and listen to live music.

The BBQ is pretty good.

By Ryan |

The BBQ is okay. It’s kind of pricey though. For a BBQ sandwich and a cup of macaroni and cheese it was $20 dollars. No drink that I saw anyway. Looks like you have to walk to the next building to get something and all they had was beer but I didn’t get a close look. They do have live music and plenty of seating. It’s all outside though.

Bangers Bliss

By Adam N |

Amazing time at Bangers! Kimber (our server) was the best! Our first time here and we went for Sunday Brunch. There was a brass band rocking the stage and the food was great. We had the custard french toast and pork belly eggs benedict and both were a great way to start the day. Kimber was a great server and was a huge help in selecting beers for two different flights that I tried. She was very personable and took the time to walk through different beers as the selection on tap is enormous; 200+ beers! Overall a great experienace.

Meh. Not worth the added costs

By HerbertEdgewood |

‘Ello chaps! Banger’s Sausage in Austin Texas looks like one of those rowdy rootin’ good times kind of places. Good spot for spirits, food, and good times with friends. But, here’s the rub. I wanna love this place. With live entertainment it’s probably a pretty kickin’ place, but Banger’s simply falls short on a few ends. Price versus quantity of food just isn’t on the same scale. Add on $15 to pay for parking in the area, and it’s simply not an easy spot to get to unless you’re on foot. But it’s on the same road with a ton of restaurants and bars so if you’re willing to make a night out of it then perhaps you can make it worth your while. Overall I give Banger’s twoe stars out of five. I want to love it more and it just fell a bit flat.

Best bangers in town

Sunday Funday

Beer garden meets sausages! What a fun place. Massive mimosas, huge pretzels, live music, fun people, and lots of meat! So much fun...don’t miss this place!

good food and huge beer selection

By Michael K |

This place was only a few steps from our hotel so we grabbed a seat at one of the picnic tables and sampled the strong selection of beer available. I had the spicy sausage along with some cream corn that was excellent.

Joined Up

By Dean5 |

I don't think the maitre d equivalent had the right personality/skills for the job - was rather dour and seat assignment was a mystery. From there someone will come along in a while and take your meal order and then after another lengthy wait someone else will come along and serve it. It just didn't seem that joined up.

Really good, great service

By GaliaMK |

We really enjoyed our lunch at Bangers! The restaurant is big, has outdoor and indoor seating, 207 different draft beers and a lot of different sausages. Our waiter, Jessie, was super friendly and helpful. I ordered my sausage with salad, the rest with bread, all very tasty, great dijon mustard! The french fries are awesome! The beers we tried were excellent. The ambience is nice, informal, relaxed. We recommend this restaurant if sausages and beer is what you are craving for! Have to mention that Rainey Street is an area worth visiting.

Excellent - definitely going back!!!

By Bev B |

Loved it! Food was fantastic! Had a few beers at bar; unbelievable selection. Ethan, our bartender, knew about every beer we chose. Jesse, our waiter, knew all about the sausages, recommended side dishes, and he also answered our questions about the beers. Friendly staff. Will definitely go back on our next trip to Austin!

Ok, I had to wait...

By Chris R |

Ok, I had to wait a long time to be served, but to be fair they knocked a beer off the bill to make up for it. Incredible beer selection in this place. You can sit inside or out... I chose in, as it is still January. The sausage selection is ok, the food good. Worth a visit but not, for me, the best on Rainey Street.

Best meal in Austin

By LoopChicago |

Visited with family of four (two teens) on a Saturday in August. We were nervous since it was a game day but no wait at 6pm. In the group we ordered the tri-tip, 1/2 chicken, and a smoked turkey sandwich. Tri tip was good, turkey was ok but the chicken was amazing! Don’t miss the best sides - potato salad and mac n cheese. Great music and love the communal seating. Met some fun people.

Fantastic atmosphere, beer, and brats!

By JohnJovi |

Fantastic atmosphere, beer, and brats. Fun outdoor seating with live music. Loved the jalapeño cheese brat on a bun. Friendly and attentive staff.

great visit

By melissaaU1490FG |

Great atmosphere loved the food and like the beer selection and the descriptions of the beers to help make a choice.

Stop thinking about it, just come and eat!

By rachelle1625 |

We came here with friends for lunch and had a great time. The waiters were very attentive and helpful in deciding which beer and which sausage to choose. We wanted to take our time during lunch, but I could see people coming here during lunch break from working and swiftly eating and getting out. The Duck, Bacon & Fig sausage as well as the Drunk Chicken were our two favorites. Lots of outdoor seating, and it fills up on the weekends in the evening. Just go, you'll like it.

Absolutely impressive

By 232tmg |

Bangers is not only one of the biggest establishments on Rainey Street, but they also have one of the largest beer selections I have seen in one location. The large smokehouse out back provides an aromatic invite right off the street. Living up to your name is easy for Bangers, they offer a very unique and impressive sausage menu, and if you're not a fan of sausage they have plenty of other options available. Although I did not try the vegetarian options, I was told they were phenomenal by some pretty picky vegetarians! The sausages are absolutely excellent, they seem to love the garlic aioli here which I do now as well, ketchup isn't the only thing that belongs on a brat. The beer garden is plenty big for any size group and the staff are excellent hosts. Cheers!

Favorite Place on Rainey Street

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Many great places on Rainey Street but this is amongst the best. Great atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating, Huge beer selection.

We were treated so wonderfully and the sausages were delish!

By aktravelers2008 |

We had the good fortune of meeting Jesse, the manager, when we walked in. We chatted a bit, and he was kind enough to show us behind the scenes - where sausages are made, the smokers, and all around the facility. Everyone we met that worked there was so happy and had a super attitude. I don’t think we have ever been treated so warmly at a restaurant. The sausages were great, and the beer selection was amazing, but we will be talking about the wonderful experience we had here for a long time. Thank you for a super lunch and fun experience.

Great place for lunch!

By Hi59Cheeto |

Sausage is great at this place. Rainey Street is a charming area in the city. Get the jalapeno Mac & cheese. It’s the best. Ambiance is great and sounds like it has a great evening vibe with live music. Definitely will return for dinner...

Texas Biergarten

By DeavBBQ |

The perfect combination of German beer garden and Texas. Sausage overload and great beer to wash it down. Only stopped for a snack, will plan more time next trip. Pretzel and sausage sampler perfect snack or starter. I left wanting to try more sausage and hit the BBQ from the smoke pit.

Loud music; food just okay

By Robin B |

We went for dinner based on the reviews and the photos, which looked delicious. There is live music outside, so we asked the host for a quiet table so we would be able to hear each other talk. The music is really loud (more on that later). We shared the bratwurst because they looked large enough in the photo to share. They were nice enough to cut it in half, but what arrived were two pieces about 3 inches long and what tasted like a regular hot dog bun. It only had a small amount of sauerkraut and a splash of mustard. It was good, but I’m not sure it’s worth $15. We also shared the Brussels sprouts. They were also just okay and there was a pool of grease in the bottom of the tray. Why? Other fried foods aren’t accompanied by ¼ inch of oil. When we left, we walked through the inside to use the restrooms and it was air conditioned, quiet bliss. Why exactly the host didn’t offer to seat us inside when we specifically asked for a quiet seat, I attribute to cyborg employees who are programmed to do one specific job and not think.

Good visit

By RosiesFavs |

Got selection of beers. Since it was a sausage company the menu was pretty much sausage! The 3 of us each had different: duck n bacon sausage, andouille sausage with cheese and peppers, and sausage and sauerkraut. All good. Good waiter. Great music. Good beer. Place to dance in outdoor beer garden! Family friendly. Would go back.

Brunch Date!

By Renee Marie |

We met some friends here for a couple's brunch. We had manmosa, biscuits, bacon, pretzel, fried pickles, and shoestring potatoes. The biscuits were huge but I wish they were served warm rather than cold. That would have made them 10/10. The "shoestring potatoes" were more like seasoned potato chips? We were expecting actual potatoes but it was like the potato snacks that come in a can? The pickles were excellent and so crispy! The pretzel was so big and so pillowy soft. The manmosa was also huge and great. We will be back for sure!

So my review got deleted.

By Lauren B |

So my review got deleted. I did NOT post profanity as it thought so, but only posted the truth. Solo traveler and a somehow displaced server that took forever to get my order. I’m unimpressed with the service but such a great ambiance.

Great beer and music!

By Laura T |

Such a fun and big space for a chill hangout. Easy to get a beer and a table to listen to great live music.

amusing place with meat and beer

By Tim D |

The place is like two or three places in one. Outdoor and indoor seating, some areas are for full service and some not. Sit in one area to order food off the menu from a server, sit in another area mostly for drinks but you can go to the counter and get barbeque. Live music often. Many different beer on tap and a lot of smoked meats. Good place for a couple and a good place for a group.

great fun on Rainey St

By hammernnail2002 |

saw a great band and really enjoyed the food...maybe 150 plus different kinds of beer on tap..great vibe...just a really fun place to go

Awesome place. Wish we found it sooner

By Robert C |

Towards the end of Rainy St. (Well where the action is). Fantastic beer and cider) selection. Inside and outside seating, dog friendly. Live music, when we were there it was rockabilly. The food is cheap, excellent and plentiful.

Nice for a drink

By Sarah A |

We stopped here for a drink while exploring the area, lots of beer options and they had live music with lots of space to sit. Really cool vibe. I would go back

Pretzels (crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside), music and beer!

By d22randy |

Wowza! We came for the pretzels. I'd come back again and again for the pretzels ... and more! We stopped in to try out the pretzels but also had the boudin balls, poutine and a chicken apple sausage. Then, we obsessed about the pretzels for a few days before going back again!!! Service was great, fun location, great history, lots of beer choices. There's live music at some points.

Over 100 Beers on Tap!

By Nati0nalparktraveler |

Had lunch and tried some beers. The beer selection was huge. They have indoor and patio dining. They offer a quick BBQ patio option if you don't want to wait for full restaurant service. Tasty meat; unique recipes. Very busy but cool hangout joint.

Courtyard with a band

By WanderLSP |

We sat outside in the courtyard and listened to a good cover band. Enjoyed the beer and homemade BBQ chips. A fun afternoon. They have indoor seating too.

Slow service in an empty restaurant, cold food, expensive beer.

By Heather Rose |

Four of us got together for lunch here on a weekday. The restaurant appeared mostly empty. It has nice ambiance and looks like a fun place to watch some live music. Pros: 1. Had a decent beer list for Rainey Street (full disclosure: I am a complete beer snob and I find it hard to get interesting, new beers on Rainey St.) 2. Nice outdoor eating area. Cons: 1. Even average beers that cost $6 everywhere else in town are $7+ there. 2. Beer list was large but lacked creativity. 3. Our waiter was unhelpful bordering on obtuse. One of our party wanted a regular bratwurst but the restaurant was out. The waiter could make absolutely no recommendation of what to order that was on the more simple, less adventurous side. 4. The sausages came with no sides, were cold when we got them, and lacked flavor. My currywurst had no discernible curry flavor to it (nor did the ketchup sauce) and it was just sprinkled with dry curry powder. 5. Service took forever, even though the restaurant was almost empty. Waiters were standing around talking rather than bringing out food in a timely manner. Bottom line: Cold, overpriced food and underwhelming beer selection. Yuk. You'd have to be pretty drunk to like this place.

I’m from the UK and I’m really

By AliTavs |

I’m from the UK and I’m really into micro breweries. This place is just amazing!!!! 101 beers on tap, the barbecue was ridiculously good. I can’t recommend enough.

Awesome

By Katie A |

Some of us are vegetarians, so we we're not sure about this place. But they ended up having 2 veggie options and one vegan option. We tried both vegetarian sausages and they were so so good. They were tomato based and tasted almost pizza like. The vegan choice was an eggplant based sausage. The beer choices were fab, and the service was great. Our real sausage eating family members ate the curry sausage and loved it. The vibe of the place was really cool as well.

Sooo good!

By jam12419 |

We stopped here for dinner after walking up and down Rainey St. There was live music on the patio, which was perfect. The food was excellent and had a nice variety of sausages to pick from. I had an exotic dog (which was great) but they were out of a lot of the regular dogs.

Fun to try

By Per H |

We thought it looked good from the outside. 202 beers on draft and sausage. Food was as expected when you get a sausage and beer likewise. Nothing to write home about

Can you have more tap beers??

By obonga |

The most expansive list of tap beers I have ever seen! The house made sausages were even better. The prices were good and it is a great place to watch people!

Great Atmosphere to Party or Hang with Friends

By KMizak |

We decided to go here instead of BBQ and I say we made a good choice. The area was vibrant with activity with local bars but the live music here was awesome. Don't remember the band name (was on a Saturday) but they were talented. The customer service was great and the food was good. The total package of the restaurant makes it a good location. No mixed drinks just beer, but we'll worth the visit.

Super cool joint serving up sausage & beer!

By Rum connoisseur 76’ |

Bangers is a super cool joint in a hip area of Austin! Sausage & beer is the theme and they have plenty of both to choose from. Their space is enormous with two large building and a wide open patio in between. From the funky decor to the chill atmosphere and great service, this place is a must visit. Try the turkey chicken duck sausage, you won’t be disappointed! Highly recommend this place. I will definitely go back when ever I’m in Austin.

Solid choice for German enthusiasts

By John Lovell |

I mean I’m not a huge sausage guy, but that being said I thought mine was excellent, as were the poutine fries! I can’t quite remember the dish I had, though it had a good bit of kick to it! And spacious outdoor seating.

Great place for craft beers and sausages

By WFSCDGA |

This place is huge with tons of indoor and outdoor seating and 100 craft beers on each side and MANY varieties of sausage. We sat in the sun and had several great beers and had a wonderful time. This place opens earlier than most other Rainey St places as well. Recommend.

(sausages)

By Mark R |

Bangers has a huge menu of different types of delicious sausages. Also on the menu over 200 different beers. Good sides and good service. Worth the visit!

An oasis on a busy, party street

By DJinNashville |

We've never seen that many beers on tap. Staff is very friendly and ready to guide you through all the selections. Even pour you some samples to decide. The atmosphere is laid back and typical beer garden. The pit is amazing, and we wish we were hungry so we'd have ordered the food. They are roasting a pig on saturdays--looked amazing. On Rainer St where it could be a bit party-street, the beer garden felt like an oasis. Strongly recommend!

Ok for a beer

By don_p_ZH |

Interesting place, very much in the style of European beer gardens. The beer and live music are great, but I wouldn't eat there again - the sausage was incredibly dry despite the sauce and the fries were rock hard. The ordering system works so-so, and it's difficult without a US cell phone.

Fun place - great beer selection and good sausages

By Clint S |

This place is very cool and very crowded. They have 200+ beers on tap (two different sides - each having over 100, so you may need to check both sides). They have great sausages that I believe are made in-house. I had the cajun, and it was good, but spicier than I expected. Place is packed on weekends, so plan on getting your name in well before you plan on eating.

Excellent BBQ and Beer

By WorldTravelers003 |

My husband had the ribs from the smokehouse and said you could tell how good they were by the pile of napkins he left behind. 202 beers on draft on the weekend, 101 all the time, and while we didn't try them all (lol) we enjoyed what we had. AP was an excellent server!! We'll be back!

Excellent, and don't skip the desert.

By dadsthoughts |

I was pleasantly suprised at how great the bratwurst sandwiches were. I recommend items on the menu with the queso (cheese), which was exceptional. And don't skip the desert. They have a lady that makes their interpretation of a frozen snickers bar in a jar that is awesome. My wife talked about it for days. Our waitress could not have been nicer or more helpful.

Traditional American Food

By Gabrielle V |

I went to this place in 2019, if you are looking for great hot dogs, this is the right place, I am vegetarian and I was very happy to find that they have delicious vegetarian options, I ate a delicious vegetarian hot dog by far the best veggie hot dog.

Great time!

By TPacheco87 |

A couple of my girlfriends and I were in Austin for a bachelorette party, we asked around for the best places to day drink and heard about the famous Manmosa. Not only was the manmosa worth it, the atomospher was great. There was live music, good food/drinks and they allow pups so that’s even better. Highly recommended spot to check out!

Visit you won’t be disappointed

By cindy c |

Every single person was delightful I visited with my son , greeted with smiles at the entrance each time , we asked about local stuff and the lady took time to sit with us , we went a few times during our visit , in fact we came back to rainy street just to revisit this bar , amazing live music on the Friday night a couple with amazing voices ! , a bubbly lady in a denim dungarees smiled on every visit and brings pints of water round to you whether you eat or not which were refreshing and makes you drink between beers haha ! The staff are second to none I did not have my dog but the host was visibly giving everyone with a dog water bowls for the dog … food was great , beers had a wheel of choice , just an amazing place! Can’t recommend enough visit visit visit

Not a good experience.

By Ralph K |

The best part for me this time was the beer. Ordered one, ordered food, drank it, then ordered a different beer. Two sets of couples came in after me, ordered, got their food, ate, and I'm still waiting. The other couples left, then after nearly an hour, our food came. Food wasn't that great (bratwurst was bland, mustard nothing to write home about, fries were pretty good though). I'm fairly sure the waiter didn't put my order in until a half hour or later after I ordered. No apologies, no acknowledgment. Overall bad experience....won't be going back.

Sticker shock

By Michael P |

Perusing the menu, the prices make you think of stadium prices and its inexcusable.....until the first bite. I had the chicken & apples and the duck fig bacon brats. It can only be described as fine craftsmanship you must experience yourself. Also, the live bluegrass music adds to the atmosphere

Not good service at all

By april131 |

My wife and decided to check this place out for lunch during our visit to Austin. Walking in the place wasn't busy or over crowded which was great. We asked the host to sit us outside, there was another couple out there as well. We literally never got acknowledge, never asked if we would like anything to drink. Mind you there was a server there because he was taking food and beer out to the other couple. We read the menu which wasn't too much to offer than the beer menu, And sat for a good 25 min wondering what happened. They need to look into there customer service wise if they want to continue staying open.

A nice place with awesome beers and really good food

By Mario D |

The best sausage house, I‘ve ever been. Really delicious sausages and a great variety of craftbeers.

Bangers was banging

By Keith W |

Great spot for lunch or dinner, we stopped in for lunch, lots of space to enjoy inside and outside, the sausage choices are great, I went fir the duck bacon fig really really good. The choice of beers was epic, you really need to just get a beer first then think about which one next. Food, staff and atmosphere all first class in a great area away from 6th.

Work function

By G S |

Totally impressed with this restaurant. How could you go wrong with 200+ beers on tap. To be honest we had a buffet for r your event. 3 different sausages and a variety of sides. Plus live music. Definitely a good lace to visit.

Brilliant bangers

Fabulous bar, food and live music a must visit if in Austin. Great selection of sausages, burgers and beers. Staff friendly and attentive and great music

The bartenders were excellent . Very friendly and knew their beer!! So many to choose from . The food was yummy. A definite place to check out if I’m Austin ! Rainy street is so cool!!

Amazing outdoor and indoor venue with delicious food and great atmosphere!!

By Suemc430 |

What a great place!! We went there for lunch on a Sunday and they had a band playing. Seating was plentiful but we had a reservation. The atmosphere was delectable- smoke from the barbecue pit filled the air! I had a chicken and apple sausage that was amazing! We also tried a sausage sampler with gravy to dip. Delicious but spicy FYI. The ordering is a bit hard to figure out; the menus not just by QR code but so is ordering. It gets a bit confusing with larger parties but we figured it out. Would highly recommend!!

German-style ale house with smoker. Great for fun family outdoor dining

By Suzie B Gluten-Free! |

Tucked behind the many building sites for the new upmarket apartment buildings, was this great brewery. The food was typical pub grub. There was a scan code on the table and the food was brought out. They did have a print out of allergens for each menu item but I had to ask for it. They were not listed on the menu. We went at lunch time and the construction noise was overwhelming. Presumably at night it would be better

Huge selection of beer!

By mhiykmeel |

The place is so good! Great food, had the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and spicy dill pickles. 207 beers on tap, two bars and a huge open patio. Everyone sits at long picnic tables line a giant family get together

Great Food

By Jan S |

5 Love this place. Amazing food and beer. Ian not a big drinker and loved their sour beers. Food was amazing. My husband and I ate here 3 days in a row. Our waiter Blake was AMAZING. He had great food and drink recommendations.

Slow service, mediocre food

By SeaToSeaTraveler |

I was on a business trip and had dinner at Bangers with a group of colleagues from Austin who raved about the food, but this place was a total disappointment. Our waitress seemed very busy, but waiting 25 minutes for her to take our order and another 50 minutes to get our food was ridiculous. I don’t blame the waitress. Such incredibly poor service indicates bad management. When we finally got our food, my fries were cold and soggy. What they called “baked beans” were absolutely flavorless and did not at all resemble or taste like baked beans. There are so many fun restaurant options on famous Rainey St. Dine at one of them and avoid a horrible dining experience at Bangers.

Great Place!

By sharrongeg |

What a cool place! With approx 200 beers on tap, there is something for everyone! Hubby tried 2 different drafts, while I opted for a chardonnay. Started with the boudin balls ($9 for 3) and they were very good, although very spicy. Ordered the apple/chicken sausage ($13 w/fries) - excellent! Cool atmosphere - fun place Adrienne was our server and she was awesome!

Beautiful atmosphere

By Paolo N |

The place is easy to reach but the area doesn't have much parking available. The staff is very kind and helpful. It has a large central open space, with a stage for live music: although the street is very noisy, it is very well isolated and the atmosphere was really very pleasant. Table service is perhaps a little slow. The choice of beers is very wide, there are a lot of them and the ones we ordered were both good. As well as the hamburger. Good prices, average for the city. Recommended for a relaxing evening listening to music.

Nice Beer Garden

By Chris |

This is a very nice and relaxing beer garden. They have great beer choices and it is a fun atmosphere on Rainey.

Great Place for Food & an Enormous Craft Beer Selection on Tap

By 8ric |

Why a five star rating - because they have over 200 distinct beers on tap and in all my travels I've never seen that many! Plus, the staff are all really cool, friendly, welcoming and eager to assist with finding you the right beer for your flavor palate. Although I did not eat, many people were reaching about there sausages. They have 100 beers on tap inside and another 100 outside along with plenty of outdoor seating that faces an outdoor stage for live music.

Don’t get the kid friendly rep

By LizzieAlex |

We went for dinner with our 2 and 6 year olds, having been told by several people it’s the best place to go for kids. The fact that they don’t even have a kids menu was therefore a bit of a surprise. The sausages are ok, but $80 for three meals, no starter or dessert and three drinks, seemed way overpriced.

Ribs, Sausage, and Beer galore!

By Ashley G |

Great spot to grab a bite and a beer. I had the ribs, others in my party had sausages. The food was delicious. There was a vast amount of beers with some ciders to choose from. The staff were very knowledgeable which added to the experience. Lots of tables/big outdoor beer garden. Would certainly recommend!

Great sausages and beers

By FritzGoat |

Great sausages and extensive beer list make this an excellent beer garden. Didn’t try the restaurant side. Good music as well.

Great Food, Great Beer, Great Vibe

By LoriW_10 |

We had lunch here on a saturday. Place was packed but service was still excellent. The food was very good and the beer selection was mind blowing. Noisy but fun crowd.

Go for the BEER

By Astromous88 |

Go for the beers - the bartenders are happy to guide your choice and give out samples. We went for the USA beer but they also have some amazing Belgian beers to choose from. Having been to German beer gardens, I would say that the food is so-so. The sausages are presented quite dramatically so they look HUGE when they arrive but in fact are not that big. My biggest complaint about this place is that there are some tables which are for drinking only. This means that when you are comfortably seated with a lovely beer, you have to be relocated to an eating table (even for beer snacks) and often this means that you are in a crowded space. After you have eaten, you are asked to move to a non-eating table straightaway, even on a quiet weekday. This makes no sense to me.

Great place

By Brie Valentino |

I enjoyed my pretzel that I ordered! My boyfriend ordered a bratwurst and I tried a piece of it. It was delicious! I wanted to try one of their hot dogs but they were sold out. I was sad! But next trip definitely going back :)

Try the Texas hot guts!

By Helene T |

Get theirs early, we got there at 11 was 45 min wait , by 1 it was almost 3 hr wait. Food was amazing. Not a beer drinker but I am now. Had a stout beer that had touch off coffe flavor probably the best beer ever. Bartender so nice educated you in the beers (202 choices)and was soo patient and let us try a few samples.look for the bartender in this picture !

Wasn't intending to go here.

By Ivan1967 |

But after I did, I realized this place is different, unique but just plain awesome! And it's a no joke beer geek paradise! Stuff I've only wondered if I'd ever see on tap! Now I love Texas BBQ! But willing to do something different! Heck yeah. And its great. Next time I plan on exploring what they can do with pork! I only had a sausage sandwich. Little did I know how varied their menu is. Staff was tremdous! Even met some very interesting fellow customers!

Place packed Fri and Sat and now we know why. The staff are great Raul especially. He took time to hear what we liked in beer. Brought our 4 samples to each. 200taps can be overwhelming. Raul selected the ones perfectly. I had the duck sausage and fries. Very yummy. The ribs and sauce good but the sausage overshadowed. We will try something again before we leave.

Let go of the Jazz band

By crv00 |

The food is great… but the jazz band with the screaming lady… PLEASE tone it down.. I just wanted to eat my food and run away. It’s unfortunate.

Authentic Austin Eatery

By cgloid |

We went here for Father's Day breakfast. We had reservations, but the seating was very confusing. We had to stand in a long line, was given a notification device that would buzz when our table was ready. We had the first available reservation and had to wait for about 30 minutes walking around. The told us we could wait outside by the tables of which no one was seated at. We sat down but were told we could not sit there. We walked around for a few minutes, when our timer went off at which time we were seated. Strange, there was no one at any of the many tables. After being seated the staff greeted us and were served. It was a brief but good menu. The food was delicious. They also had a jazz band playing that day. The band was very good. I would recommend Bangers, but they need to work on their seating.

Bangersgood food & Beer :)

Great atmosphere, good food, great live music !, a must do if Austin ‘, food came quick easy ordering system at table, what’s not like !

Great Location and Atmosphere

By Mark H |

Really excited to be going there - the venue is great, the smokers looked brilliant. The choice of beer really impressive. Must have come at thew wrong time as virtually no choice of sausages left, fries were cold and generally left a bit underwhelmed- infact disappointed -

Great Beer Garden and Food!

By 287wb |

Always enjoy my visits to Bangers! Great fun! Excellent service! Incredible selection of beers! Food is perfect! You’ll have a great time here no doubt!!! Be sure to make this one of the places you spend some time when visiting Rainey Street!

Outstanding Food, Music and Service for the entire evening

By ddmullis |

Excellent location to have a team outing or family meal. It definitely has the atmosphere with food and live music you would expect in Austin. For food I highly recommend the smoked turkey, collard greens and beans. The service was top notch.

Awesome casual spot

By Petunia |

Thank you Jackson for excellent customer service and a smooth dining experience! Will definitely visit again next time I am in Austin.

Busy Rainey Street favorite

By Neil K |

With a wait for an inside table we decided to grab an outdoor table and enjoy a sunny day. Start with one of their brews from what seemed like a hundred choices. Can’t make up your mind, don’t worry they will give you a tasting. I know this is Bangers and sausage is the specialty but I went with the Whole Hog sandwich, chopped pork topped with a vinegar cole slaw and pig skins. My wife went with a smoked turkey sandwich. Both were very good a full of plenty of meat. Baked beans were a good addition. If I had room I would definitely ordered a smoke sausage, it looked great.

Fab evening

By Coops1962 |

go here for a great evening! it is sausages but there is plenty of choice. wide range of beers. great atmosphere with live music. good price too- Rainey St is buzzing too

Large collection of drunk college students.

By Mary&Bobontheroad |

Visited on ST Patrick day. Possibly a mistake. Limited menu but the sausage was good. Live band in court yard was good. Beer choices were good. Prices were a little higher than good. Horde of Drunken stumbling college students at 4 pm not so good.

Amazing beer selection

By mbmortensen |

The beer selection was incredible and to top it off the bartender serving us could tell us about almost every beer on the menu!

Eh

By Barbara A |

So when we went here it was like a frat party on steroids. The food was good if you’re feeling like lots of meat. Veggies pretty much non existent. They didn’t appear organized at all relative to getting served. Don’t think I’d return.

Great beer selection and wonderful dessert

By Ferg42995 |

More than 100 beers on draft so there is something for everyone. Bartenders were very helpful in describing different beers and answering questions. Nice outdoor area to hang at. Also, I had a great dessert you must order! I don't know what it was but it was served in a jar and had chocolate, caramel, peanuts, and ice cream (I think). It was great!

Insane selection of beer, good food

By Icarus4335 |

We just went for drinks and apps, so no sausage. The giant pretzel was perfect and the fried cheese curds were also delicious (though I'm not sure they were really cheese curds). Over 200 beers on taps...tried a few, all good. Prices are good, food came out super fast.

Awesome food and drinks selection

By Adrienne C |

Came here for a work event and had a blast. The beer / wine / cider selection is unparalleled. I particularly liked the passion fruit cider - a very unique and memorable taste. The food was also top notch - I especially liked the rainbow slaw, Mac and cheese, and pulled pork. Live music was excellent too!

SAUSAGE PARTY

By Johnny Trekkie |

Its a Sausage Party! Better yet, a Hipster Sausage Party! They sausage up a variety animals here: pig, duck, chicken, boar, rabbit, and more. And even some tasty veggie sausages. Bangers probably has the widest selection of draft beer in the city...or maybe all of Texas? America? Unfortunately for me there wasn't enough stomach capacity and time to try everything here, but what I had was delicious! $9 DRUNK CHICKEN: Beer, Serrano peppers, red pepper flakes, cilantro & more beer...juicy, meaty, with just the right amount of spice. $9 PORTABELLA MUSHROOM SAUSAGE: As a dedicated carnivore, I really enjoyed this mushroom sausage! I'm in my early 40s, so I gotta get my veggies right? Topped with charred asparagus & kale house preserved lemons, garlic chips and fried shiitake mushrooms...what better way to eat veggies than as a sausage? YUM! $10 SMOKEY & THE BOAR: Wild boar smoked w/ onions & garlic...meaty and marvelous...tonight's winning sausage! $6 Wedge Salad: the best and cheapest wedge salad you'll ever eat in the history of ever. The hipster host, hipster bartender, and hipster server were all friendly and fabulous. The only thing that sucks is that its located on Rainy Street, which is fine and fun if you're under 30 looking to party. Parking sucks, we had to pay $18 at the lot...maybe Lyft/Uber instead?

Accepts under 18, rare on Rainey

By Marco W |

If you have teenagers and you visit Rainey in the evenings, there aren’t many places where you are allowed in. Bangers is the exception. It’s a big place with both indoor and outdoor seating. Tables are either serviced by wait staff or free seating where you order from one of the bars. They have a stage and live music

DO NOT MISS A VISIT TO BANGER'S IN AUSTIN

By Riccardo N |

Banger's is a Sausage House and Beer Garden. they have home made sausages and 202 beers on tap ! Amazing! you can be lost in the beer universe.... and sausages are excellent. they have duck sausage, wild boar, rabbit, and others. you can go there for lunch and if temperature is fine you can enjoy the garden. amazing!

Beer and Sausage...

By Stephen Brinkley |

This a great place to go and get a wide range of beers from all over Texas and the rest of the United States. Bangers has the ability to offer up to 202 beers on tap. Enjoy a flight and range of pork products. They also have an amazing fried pretzel.

Beer Nirvana

By JNYCwriter |

I give this place five stars for two reasons 1) it is different from your average bar with hundreds of beers on tap and 2) the bartenders were impressively knowledgeable. This place is millennial heaven as well. So many beers to choose from yet most of us only have one liver. Drink away and enjoy all the drafts in a beer haus atmosphere.

Go hungry!

By 125742 |

On a Friday lunchtime on Rainey Street as busy as it was we were accommodated fairly quickly and once seated our orders were taken and food delivered surprisingly fast. Kyle our server has such a great personality and checked on us frequently. We had the burgers, hot dog and fries. An abundance of food unfortunately could not finish. Great service, an efficiently run restaurant. Two thumbs up!

The "Mexican-Lager" beers are amazing

By Rodrigo V |

The vibe of the place and the actual sausages are tremendous, the "mexican style" beers are fantastic and the overall feel of the place is a breath of fresh air in the chaotic Rainey St.

If You Love German Style atmosphere - you have to eat at Bangers!

By Katerina G |

Bangers has the best handcrafted sausages! Whether you want the old stand by Bratwurst or go wild with boar and antelope, you will find it here. The servings were more than generous. The German potato salad was the best I have eaten outside of Germany. We don't drink alcohol but if you are into beer- you will notice a lot of varieties, in kegs, and the bar seemed quite popular. Their Kombucha was really good.

Great Food & Atmosphere

By Charles T |

Stopped off here for a while and had a great time. Very fun and very crowded. Nice, high energy horn band playing good music. Food was awesome. I had the spicy jalapeño cheddar link and it was absolutely delicious. $5.00 for a huge link and bread also. Also pork was great. Would definitely come Back while in Austin again. And don’t forget about the ManMosa. You’ll have to find that out for yourself, let’s just say your only allowed to have 1 of them.

Brewery to Table

By pdSixty8 |

Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden is located in the center of the Rainey Street District, and one of the iconic places in Austin. It was recently expanded and they did a miraculously job on it. The new building looks like a log cabin with two floors with outside seating and what looks like a secret cellar for parties. It has its own beer taps and restrooms on the first level, and plenty of outdoor seating on both levels. It has the same style of seating with long wooden picnic tables like the rest of the place has. I was here during SXSW and one day a temporary stage was setup for SXSW but they do have a smaller permanent stage. I told my wife I was hungry while drinking a beer selected from a wall of 100+ beer taps. I knew they make their own variety of sausages but my wife returned with Chopped Whole Hog and Sweet Tea Smoked Turkey among with bread and macaroni & cheese. This was the best tasting turkey I have ever had. The pork was just as good. Would not be surprised if this place was listed as one of the best bbq in Austin. If not should be. The macaroni & cheese was superb with its pork rinds on top. I never knew the food was so good here where all my times coming in just drink beer and listen to music. Bangers definitely a place to experience. It is very inviting with friendly staff, live music, huge beer selection and excellent food.

Rainey Street Has Lost Its Edge but Banger's Remains Great

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Although Rainey Street has quickly lost its mojo as the hippest place to go bar hopping, Banger's continues as an excellent spot to hang out to have a drink and some food. Large welcoming outdoor beer garden. Lively fun atmosphere. A huge selection of beer on tap and a great menu featuring a number of different types of sausages.

Do the Sunday Brunch!

By Bryan K |

Very comfortable seating in and out. Geared for a large crowed. Sunday Jazz Brunch band was lights out good. Service was pleasant and efficient. Brunch Brisket Benedict was spot on. All of our group were happy with the stop.

Day drinking!

By kisssmee |

I came here during the day for a drink and it's a cool place to hangout at. There are food options and a good amount of drinks on tap. The staff is helpful in making suggestions on what to get from the extensive selection. They also offer samples of the drinks to help you decide.

Too big

By anastassiu |

Huge place, ridiculous number of beers on tap. I am always suspicious when I see hundred taps, there is no way they are all fresh. Waiting time for food was 1 hour so we just had a couple of beers and moved on.

Neat place

By JetBlueDriver |

We liked the vibe of this place a lot. Large community tables in an open air courtyard. Good live music playing when we visited. Our server was very nice and made good suggestions. Large craft beer list, but nothing out of the ordinary is on there. Sausages were okay but a little dry. Overall, very good place. I would return to try something else on the menu.

BANGIN

By Koz |

Bangers is so good! The vibe here is cool, its massive, so many places to sit, hang out, mingle, have a drink and the food is amazing. Definitely recommend coming here, sit in the sun with a cold beer. Especially if you need to cure a hangover, Bangers will do it.

The place for a good time!

By NCPF |

What a great beer garden. More then 200 brands of beers! The food is really good, the service was great and the beer was wow!! We have a blast!

German Brewhaus with Southern flare

By linz0501 |

Worth the stop! Depending on when you come by will dictate the amount of crowd you see! Be smart and I don't know why you would give this place anything less than 4 stars! The boudin & crackers are comfort food heaven with the saltine crackers! Rely on your server for sausage and beer recommendations and you can't go wrong!

A rare space

By Andy W |

This review is based on my attendance at a private event. The place was closed to the public. In a city that is sprouting high rises, this gem is a special place. It was neat and a little sad that this great old homestead has high rises peaking over the tree tops that provide a canopy over the space. The food and beer was delicious. Family style seating is a personal negative for me. The smoke can be a little overwhelming. Our clothes were smoked too. A good place to see Austin as it was before the glass towers take over.

Good, fun experience with good food thrown in

By Crossbadger |

An experience from beginning to end thanks to the enthusiastic staff and the ambience they create. Music is good and not overpowering and the waft of barbecued food helps as does the huge selection of beers. Food quality was good but maybe the prices are a little high for what you get allbeit the experience and general feelgood factor of the place is worth an extra few dollars. Will be even better once the building work opposite is complete but it's definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

Neat atmosphere, good food

By Kdellis7 |

I’m always impressed by a restaurant that can quickly seat a large party - we had 40 people! The food was good (I wouldn’t say great). The beef was good and the atmosphere was neat. It was a little dusty outside and the staff was mostly nice

Long wait

By Peg H |

Arrived at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning and was told there was a 2 and 1/2 hour wait for food. They don't appear to accept reservations ahead of time. Needless to say we went elsewhere although before we left did notice that they had a great selection of on tap beers that were well organized.

Definite stop every time I am in Austin!

By 171Scott |

If you like craft beer, this is your place! 207 beers on tap and the food we had was excellent. I was there this time for a conference, so we rented out the whole place and had a band. It was raining, so they set up a huge tent and the event went as planned. Great place to hang out and experience Rainey Street and Austin.

Unethical Tourist Trap

By Chris B |

This place is an unethical tourist trap. This place seems pretty cool until I tried to fill a growler. I have two vacuum sealed growlers to keep my beer fresh - they are loaded with brewery stickers from my travels. They refused to fill them, claiming that they were not the type of growler that was acceptable. Total BS since I have filled them hundreds of times in hundreds of places. They claimed that with my type of growler I could leave the bar and walk around drinking out of it - as if this is somehow an impossible task with some other kind of growler. Their explanation was irrational, but they would not discuss it, so, OK how much to buy an “acceptable” growler (you know, the glass brown jugs people sell for $4-$10). Then it all became clear to me ... $60 ... for the growler!!! So ... it is a big rip-off joint that claims to fill growlers, but really only if you pay an exorbitant fee. They were so rude about it. Stay away from this tourist trap. BYW, I spent the next morning researching the TX state law on growlers. There is absolutely no definition or description of what constitutes a legal container. It just has to get a label/tag of what beer and ABV is in it.

Good time, food and beer

By C C |

Good time and good food. Larger than most on Rainey St. with great outdoor seating and a huge beer selection. Fantastic for large groups or a couple, not the quietest if looking for intimacy.

Great Food and Brews

By Edward Z |

This is a return stop as first time was excellent as well and wanted to try more of the sausages and long list of beers. Arrived on a Saturday Afternoon with little crowd this time but soon filled up quick, we were seat fast and service was amazing as the staff did everything to make everyone feel welcomed and taken care of. Ordered the Curry wurst as the Texas Hot Guts, both were amazing and highly recommended. The Texas Hot Guts side of beans and slaw was incredible with an awesome Kick. Did a flight as well such a wide variety of great beers. I recommend this as a must stop on Rainey St for bringing in any visitors to Austin.

the place for good beer

By Roger D |

what a great experience. an awesome selection of nice beers, all on tap. a great range if food, well cooked. combined with nice waiters wan waitresses! we’ll call again

Sausages and Beer, as advertised

By Patti T |

Found ourselves with an unexpected overnight stay in Austin due to glitchy airline computers. Where to eat, other than the ubiquitous bbq? A little research turned up Bangers and they did not disappoint. They do sausage, and they do it well! Excellent beer and cider selection as well. Our server Justin couldn't have been better. If we come back to Austin on purpose some day, will definitely come back!

So so good!

By Ana Teresa A |

The service and the food was so good! We enjoyed the live music too! This was our first visit to Austin’s and I think this place will live in my memory for ever. Loved it!

Loved it!

By Germana B |

We love the atmosphere and service! Wonderful food, everything is made there! There are vegetarian options too, wonderful! Farrah served us and was great! We liked it so much that we went back the next day.

Rehearsal dinner

By Climber46130 |

Had my son's rehearsal dinner here , upstairs for 85 people. Clinton did an amazing job organizing the event. We had exotic sausages, and fried pickles for appetizers. The BBQ plate was delicious for our sit down dinner, and the staff very accommodating . The wine and beer selection was extensive. Top it off with two great desserts served in small jars ! It was over the top. Thank you Banger's !

Great burgers...even though they are known for sausages.

By Nicole A |

Our family of four each had the burger. They only offer one burger, but it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the beer was fresh. We don't regret our choice to eat at Bangers as the ambiance was authentic and the establishment is extremely clean. What was a little off-putting was the need to scan a QR code to read the menu. Once I figured it out it was a very simple system for ordering and paying. We used two phones and the system linked our cart together. You pay on the spot before your food comes out. You also pay a "service fee" (which does not include the taxes), so we are hoping that that was the tip. After being charged $14 for a "fee" for 4 burgers, a beer and some pickles we weren't going to leave any additional money. Our server came to our table twice and someone else brought out the food. We would have left roughly that amount in cash, anyway. What we didn't like was the automatic charge for the service fee. You usually see that only with large parties or at fancy establishments. We enjoyed our food, though, and would definitely recommend anyone in Austin give Bangers a visit.

Nice gathering place for lunch or group outings but limited hours make it hard to get too attached.

By InspireMI |

Nice friendly Rainey neighborhood bar with a hundred draft options and a simple menu that is great for singles with dogs and large groups alike. Tons of seating options outside or inside and knowledgeable bartenders make this plane easy to hand s great time with friends or meeting new people. The only drawback is the limited hours so you won't see anything after dark on most nights here unlike the rest of the street. The bratwurst and jalapeño mac and cheese were homemade and hit the spot to wash down the libations you worked so hard to choose from with their immense selection and alternating taps inside and out. Always a great pton to support the local breweries as they have at least 5 different ones available most of the time.

Texas at the best

By uabericm |

Really cool spot and there are a ton of different beers on tap. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Downside is it is August in Texas and HOLY HOT

BBQ and Live Music in Music City

By CaptDrLarry |

Austin is Music City. I quickly realized it when I noted how many restaurants, bars and clubs had live music. I was attending a conference with my team in Austin and we had our first night completely free. I wanted to hear live music and get a 'flavour' or taste of Austin with a place that also served food. The concierge at the Fairmont Austin recommended Bangers. It's a short walk to the restaurant from the hotel. Austin is undergoing tremendous grown and construction was everywhere but we managed to walk safely there. It's a big outdoor venue, with plenty of shelter overhead and heaters (the night was cool in January). BBQ was the order of the day and they had big BBQ's going in the open kitchen. We were all seated at picnic tables and given extensive menus for drinks (a GREAT beer selection, primarily craft beers from all over the south of the USA), cocktails and food. There were even good vegetarian options (but not many of them). The food was great, the service was really friendly and attentive and the live music was fun. Had a great time.

Everything amazing except the food

By Shauny79 |

I was here for a special event as part of a conference, and I loved the place - good service, nice atmosphere, enjoyable live music and above all an incredible selection of beers. Funnily enough considering the place's specialties, the only thing I was disappointed with was the sausages! They were pretty bland, unfortunately. Still the desserts were delicious. Overall I highly recommend a visit here for a drink and a good time!

Amazing choice of draft beers

By safergus |

Very German style food. We all enjoyed our different dishes. The over 200 (!) beers on tap can be intimidating, but our waiter (Jess) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and recommended different ones to each of us, based on our preferences. He scored every time!

Must go if looking for live music

By jackiehanley |

Great bands and Texas food on Rainey Street. It was crowded but we waited for 6 seats and it was worth it!

The king of Rainey Street

By John B |

Bangers is arguably Rainey Street's best spot to hang out. The food is amazing and the variety of beer on offer simply overwhelming (more than 80 varieties to choose from). Come when there's live music (the crazy and excellent '80s cover band the Spazmatics played the night we were at Bangers) and there's plenty of spots to sit or simply people watch in this massive place.

Lunch 'n beer

By PSmitty123 |

Great beer list, limited menu but the sausages are awesome. Outdoor seating only when we were there. But that's OK. Had table for 7. Last person did not get food order until all the others had finished eating. Manager was aware and apologized and remove that meal from the bill. That's OK...gave us time for another beer. :)

Sausage good…definitely worth a try.

By KCinLG |

Good beer (lots on tap), sausage and pretzel, but a little too busy for my taste. This place is very lively with a band. If i was young and single, and it wasn’t during a pandemic, it’d be a great place to hang. As busy as it was, service was great. Seating indoors is self serve and you can order snacks (pretzel) but not food (sausage). We sat inside while waiting for our table outside; that took about 20 minutes. Once outside, as busy as it is, a wait staff will swing by to get your order. Have to say I’m not a sausage person but theirs was good. We had the Chinese bbq sausage and it was delish.

Best barbecue on this street

By uduthatsd |

Live Music and the smell of the smoker draws you in. The Sausage, Smoked Turkey and Sweet Potato were delicious. They only serve beer, but the bartenders are very helpful in making sure you get one you will like!

Owner/Chef is an awesome person and runs an outstanding business

By amazed_12 |

We met Ted and was impressed by the personal effort, time, and management he gives to making his restaurant successful in every aspect. He strives for the best quality food, the best service in town with the friendliest and most professional employees. The place was inviting, extremely clean, and conveyed an atmosphere of let's get together, eat and be happy! His devotion shows, and his food is the best. Go there when in town - it's so worth it!

Fun place to eat

By Sherrill B |

We really enjoyed our visit to Banger's in Austin. The macaroni and cheese was to die for! The service was great. We will go back when in Austin.

Beer is top notch! Atmosphere is great.

By Leonie W |

From the moment we walked in our server (Buzz) was excellent. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgable. I had the duck sausage and mash and loved it. Atmosphere is great and the 180+ beers are enticing. A must visit in Austin.

Great Beers! Great environment! Average food

By Mark E |

Great Beers! Great environment! Pet friendly (we took our dog). Food was average. I would go back just for the beers

Great place to try different beers on tap

By minnesotans4 |

What an impressive amount of beers available on tap! I had no idea what I wanted to order but said my favorite beer was Heineken. The bartender gave me a beer that was perfect. My husband enjoyed the 4 beer sampler. There was always a line at the bar but the bartenders worked really hard to take everyone's orders. There were tables reserved for people who order food and another larger area where there was a band for people to just drink. We didn't order any food.

Poor service from hostess to servers

By deebell12311231 |

My nephew lives here in Austin. He told us to go here number 2 spot on trip advisor. Went in hostess you can not sit inside. Mean while all open tables 1 table had reserved. Go outside waited 15 minutes no one came over . One server sitting talking to people and the other standing. It was 253 in the afternoon. The girl sitting next to me had 2 laying on her sandwich. Never less we got up and left. I quest we we're to old to be there. That's why no one came over. Never less we went to #1 restaurant enjoyed our meal. Poor management.

Laid back beer and sausages

By Susan M |

I enjoyed a great lunch on a weekday. Place was not busy at all and I sat outside at one of the long community tables. The fans and shade keep it comfortable! I had a bratwurst and German potato salad that was awesome. Wish I could have eaten it all, very filling! Good service and liked the casual vibe. Loved my local Austin wit style beer too - so many choices, so little time - 202 on tap I think I saw! Some of their sausages are very interesting, but I wanted something more traditional and wasn't disappointed.

Great experience, great music

By Giammarco A |

Nice sausages, great service and staff. They have great beers too, and the live music was great. I would highly recommend it for groups of friends!

Potato Salad

By Jeff B |

This was our first stop in Austin. It was a bit impromptu. I'll start with the good. The outdoor area is excellent with a good vibe. Local beers are prevalent, plus a lot of others. I was a bit disappointed with my boar sausage. I thought it lacked a bit of flavor and I didn't pick up on the smoke all that much. It was a bit too sweet. My wife had the smoked hot dog which she loved. The main highlight for me was the potato salad. It is excellent. If you are looking for your typical mush from a grocery store, you won't like this one. Potatoes cooked perfectly with a tangy, tastiness. Excellent! Service can be a bit slow.

Nice dinner

By Beth R |

Was checking out rainey streek and got hungry and this turned out to be a good spot. Sausage was amazing. Beer was good, loved the outdoor atmosphere.

Hot,crowed & doesn’t take CASH

By Rach Morin |

Card ONLY?!? How do you not take cash? Extremely hot outside if you can find a bench to sit at that’s not reserved. Stay away from the fire pit if you don’t want to leave dripping. Needless to say don’t put on makeup going to this place. It will melt off of you.

Great

By Lacyelliott |

Sooo good! We got the burger with a side salad and poutine fries. Best thing we had in Austin and right down from our hotel!

Knowledgeable staff

By Wm. |

The gentleman behind the bar explain to us all the taps of beer how they were organized and what he suggested we drink. Very knowledgeable of that situation.

Great place

By Karen W |

Went Saturday night just for drinks, the place was really busy there was such a choice of beers and ciders. Highly recommend

Great food, beer, music, and people!

By Nic |

Great meal outside with great live music, couldn't ask for much more for our last evening in Austin before heading home! Also they have an incredible beer selection, I am a beer nerd and I tasted some of the best beers I have ever had here. Big thank you to our server Lauryn W. who was not only friendly and welcoming but also gave us great recommendation that made our beer tasting experience even better! When I go to Austin again (for any occasion) I will be coming back!

Bangin’ on about Bangers

By ptk_from_dy |

Do you love bangers and beer? Get your fix here! Casual vibe with plenty of outdoor seating makes this Rainey Street bar and great place for drinks. My only complaint- why can’t food ( apart from snacks) be served in the outdoor seating area?

Great beer, ok vegan option

By Magnus H |

I know a sausage restaurant is not the place to go for vegans but we joined a big group of friends at this joint. The service was slow and we couldn't, for the life of us, get a smile from the waiter, but the vegan sausage was ok and the beer is phenomenal!

Great food, slow to start service but once it started it was great!

By Jessica L. |

Came here with some coworkers and we enjoyed the band, music and food. However it did take a while to get service. We asked bus boy and he sent us to the bar, however, a waitress finally came by and a member of our party called us over. Our waitress was excellent but took sometime to be waited on at first.

100 types of beer. The best you can choose anywhere in the world

By soymerlin |

Excellent place. A waiter's service was excellent. Su nombre Jesús Martínez. Your Spanish is perfect. If you speak Spanish. Your Spanish is perfect. And their recommendation to choose a beer is the best they can recommend

Favorite Restaurant in Austin

By Brett J |

Amazing food, beer, and reasonably priced. The waiter even offered us a tour of the smokers where they cook the BBQ. We literally got to see how the sausage was made.

Fun times on Rainey Street

By Trina D |

We stopped by on Labor Day and had no issues getting a spot inside. The food was very tasty, the band was great, and our server was very attentive and friendly. My partner and I do not drink so have no opinion on the beer but they have tons of options for those that partake!

Great live music and beer selection

By Belosttobefound22 |

This establishment was fun! Live music on a Saturday afternoon...quick service, a lot of space even though it initially looked very busy. Great beer selection, no wait. We went upstairs and stood on the patio, could hear the music well. We didn't try any food.

Cold but fun

By Jennie S |

This was a conference outing. Thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed the number of tap options. Went with the sorghum sour to support the US sorghum growers! Sausages and sides were delicious. If it hadn’t been so cold, it would have been a great place and surrounding area to explore

Bangers

By Quest718475 |

An Austin must see, eat and drink! Sausages are great and very extensive beer menu. Great outdoor area.

Bangers and Mash

Enjoyed our entrees here! Plus the wedge salad, easily enough for two to split, was very good. Music a bit loud for conversation. Definitely dog friendly as many of the patrons brought their leashed dogs - and there was a dog menu item. Question: Is there a municipal ordinance in Austin that requires dog ownership? :-) Almost everyone we passed downtown seemed to have a dog!

Great find for BBQ and beers!

The sign for 207 beers on tap will lure any good beer drinker off the street let alone the great BBQ. This was a great experience for our first visit to the Rainey district. Excellent BBQ, brews and blues music. Don’t miss this place if you’re here!

Good food and drinks

Laidback, fun, outdoors bar. Plenty of space and pandemic friendly. All the food was great and good service.

Poor management with abysmal customer service skills.

If hot-headed, short-sighted, inexperienced managers is what you like in a big shot barbecue house, then "Bangers" is the perfect place for you. Our friend has a dietary condition which compels him to eat small meals several times a day. He went to the bar to order some food and they told him the kitchen was closed. He went across the street and bought a small salad and came back to watch the band. The manager (Alex Fargo) came over and said if he continued to eat his food, we all would have to leave. He insisted the kitchen was open, but instead of apologizing for the ineptitude of his service staff and offering to buy him something better from their menu. He chose to to rude and make an ass of himself telling us that we were breaking Texas State law and that we had to get out. I am a restaurant manager myself, and if I treated my patrons like that I wouldn't have a job.
