Try anything on the ever changing menu -- they're all great! Unusual combination, wonderful surprises.

Every time my wife and I come to San Diego we try and eat here if possible! They change the menu often and everything we have had has been fantastic -- various salads, meat dishes and desserts! NIce atmosphere -- but it can get real crowded so get reservations! You will love it!

Amazing burgers, best truffle oil parmesan fries I've ever eaten! A bit far away from downtown. Loved the deco, perfect mix of industrial cozy with wooden tables and petrol blue walls.

Excellent food. Menu changes often. California fresh and eclectic. Good wine list. Quite noisy, however.

From excellent service to very tasty desserts, our dinner was very enjoyable and pleasant. We had wine, soup, entrees, and desserts. We loved each dish we tried. The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. Definitely will return.

In San Diego for a conference out at the Sheraton Marina, near the airport, we were anxious to explore the food scene downtown. Based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, I made a reservation for a business/social evening here. We were not disappointed. The ambiance is lively and fun, but it was still quiet enough to have a good conversation. It is a beautiful place with outstanding service. The best part, in my opinion is that, even on a busy Thursday evening we were not rushed in the least. The cheese plate was outstanding, and each of us thoroughly enjoyed the small plates we ordered. I will return when I am back in San Diego in May. Great food, good prices, and a relaxing place to engage with colleagues.

A wonderful evening, in a stylish and sophisticated atmosphere. Excellent wine list, and our party of 7, enjoyed a wide selection from the imaginative menu. Without exception, every meal was a sensation. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, and we were left wanting on occasion. However, would certainly visit again.

Bankers Hill is a cozy neighborhood restaurant with a very cool vibe. We almost didn't get here (we had stopped by the day before, but were rudely informed that they didn't open until 5), but fate led us back the next night and we had an enjoyable dinner. The service was a bit slow - especially getting drinks from the bar. But our waiter was helpful and friendly. The menu was refreshingly small, but varied. The weinerschnitzle was the best and the fruit plate was amazing. I'd pass on the bar-b-que tacos and get dessert instead. Great, quirky decor and not over-priced for the area. Glad we gave it a second chance.

On a visit to San Diego, I found Bankers Hill recommended on Trip Advisor, the recommendations were spot on! My son and I visited on a Saturday evening, we had an 8:45 reservation but decided to see if we could walk in earlier. The place was packed but we were lucky and there were two seats at the communal table in their outdoor room. Four walls, no ceiling. Dining under the stars. Sitting at the communal table was great, the gentleman next to me gave a thumbs up to the white bean cassoulet soup so I had it with a pear salad. It was delicious. My son went for a heavier fare, Black Angus Flat Iron Steak. It was wonderful, served with a rich and redolent sauce that brought all the flavors together. The service was attentive and prompt despite that the restaurant was full on a Sat. night. Wonderful evening.

My husband and I visited this restaurant based on the positive Trip Advisor reviews. It was not close to where we stayed. We dined before walking into Balboa park to see a show at the Old Globe theatre (walk took about 20 minutes). We were really impressed. We arrived in time to partake in some of the happy hour food and then ordered some main courses as well. Everything we ate was fantastic. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very special. It was dark in the restaurant with funky decor. We were on the patio which was heated with heat lamps. I noticed that most of the people dining appeared to be locals, as opposed to tourists. It seemed that a number of people went there immediately from work. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

I dined here with my husband and another couple who live in the area. It is one of their "go to" spots in Banker's Hill. The chefs puts a subtle spin and spice on each and every dish. Serving sizes are just right -- not overwhelmingly big and not skimpy. Truly the best rum raisin ice cream I've ever tasted - perhaps made with a hint of cardamom? It was served with two soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies that were ever so slightly and perfectly salted. The pacific red snapper and roasted kobocha squash raviolis were excellent. The house made lemon potato chips and scalloped potatoes with aged white cheddar are also very tasty. Unique cocktails/martinis and a manageable wine list. The atmosphere is warm and has an interesting mix of wood, glass, rustic and modern elements. You definitely want to linger and chat. Impeccable service and reasonable prices.

So good! We got the half chicken and the mushroom ravioli and the staff recommended the wine which was perfect!! So nice that the staff has wine knowledge! And they also suggested an appetizer which was Devine!!! So just an amazing food experience;)

We went to Banker's Hill early in the evening for a family dinner. The food was good--I was dubious about ordering the truffle fires as an appetizer, but they were delicious; we cleaned the plate. The vegetarian ravioli was excellent, and everyone was happy with their meal. Service was excellent-helpful but not intrusive, and the manager came over at one pint to see if everything was all right. Great place for dinner!

The food here is unbelievably good. It's not very often that every single course is amazing, but here, it really is. The atmosphere is great, staff are friendly and I would say it's one of the best restaurants I've been to. I've been twice so far and will be visiting again this week. Yum!!!!

We walked there from Balboa park on a Monday night, it is a 15 minutes walk. We didn't had any trouble getting a table for 6, but it was already late. The service and food was great. The place is cozy and relaxed. All the dishes were delicious, but my favorite were the appetizers. It is not cheap, but reasonable.

Food is wonderful- they seem to have a small menu that has something for everyone. Service is great, people are so pleasant.

I had just arrived in San Diego from Australia and was looking for a classy, easy going place to eat with reasonably priced good food and wine. Bankers Hill delivered on both, with a lovely dim lit dining experience and lovely staff. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Really enjoyed dinner at Bankers Hill. Casual, and seemed like mostly local customers. The pork tacos were fantastic. We dined inside, but the indoor/outdoor patio was very popular.

The food was good, but when my credit card bill arrived, I had been charged three times for my dinner.

We visited for an early dinner on a Mon night. By the time we left the place was half full with locals enjoying happy hour drinks, a bigger group of 20 something's after work and couples enjoying a quiet meal. The food was delicious although my wife found the gnocchi a bit heavy. Kids menu available but our eldest really wanted Pulled Pork Taco's so the waitress recommended he order the bar tapas version (same meal but smaller). It was spot-on. Fries with truffle oil & Parmesan is the specialty & the dining room aroma is filled with it. Good wine list & most attentive service. Be aware that it is on the flight path for landing planes (and I mean they are very low) so from the patio at the front you see & hear them up close. Parking was a dream on meters free after 6pm.

I visited the airport location for breakfast!! Wow! Great Blueberry pancakes and apple chicken sausage!! Friendly service and I thought I got a lot for my dollar!!

This place is top notch. My wife and I have eaten here numerous times, and believe me, the food is exceptional. It's perfectly seasoned, creative, and tastefully presented. The service is wonderful, too. The wait staff are friendly and eager to answer questions about the menu. The wine list is stellar, as well. It's not a quiet, intimate place. But that notwithstanding, you can't find a better dining experience in San Diego.

I had the chili sesame fried brussel sprouts with pork belly-best we have ever eaten! My husband had the aguachile, which was their take on Ceviche-delicious! for our entres we had the grilled fresh catch which was a melt in your mouth sea bass. Husband had the crispy chicken schnitzel which was amazing. For desert he had the butterscotch pudding with house made shortbread. Words cannot describe that dessert. So wonderful. We came for restaurant week, but we will definitely be back!!!

This restaurant is always a place that I would go with Friends or just on the spur of the moment. It was a place that I would enjoy if is was sharing plates with friends or a romantic date with my girlfriend. Food was always consistent and never felt boring going back as they would change items dues to seasonality.. Loved their Bruschetta !

I absolutely love this restaurant. Great service, amazing food and wine. Amazing atmosphere as well! I cannot wait to come back.

Brittany set me up with an amazing suggestion of avocado toasts. I’m so glad I with with her jam. Amazing. She also hooked me up a little secret you can get beer from the market next-door and I’ll put it on your tab definitely the place to go and to be seen if you’re stuck in terminal one for a couple hours.

Stopped in to grab some food while traveling around San Diego. The place got good reviews, so we tried it out. I kind of wish we had found it sooner, because it would have saved us time looking for food the whole family would eat. Good eats and a great menu for all tastes. I would go back in a minute.

Had a late Monday night dinner, and yet the restaurant was still fairly busy - that alone speaks to the high quality of food and drink. The craft cocktails are very good, and the food is exceptional! There were two of us and we shared several items; didn't order anything from the dinner menu. We had: Butternut Squash Soup (outstanding), an exceptional Bartlett Pear Salad, excellent Roasted Brussels Sprouts with a light touch of Pecorino Cheese (not a heavy sauce), and the Artisan Cheese Plate with plenty of great house french bread. This was plenty of food for two, but we had to try the Butterscotch Pudding and glad we did! What an excellent dessert - light pudding, topped with brittle, and some really great shortbread cookies on the side. Heaven.

When visiting San Diego, a resident friend took me to dinner at this restaurant. We had a great meal seated outside in a room under the stars. Each of our appetizers, main courses and desserts was excellent. The fig bruschetta was phenomenal! I had an orange and roasted beet salad (a staple on their seasonal changing menu) that was delightful. My companion had a summer homemade ravioli that was superb. Desserts were scrumptious. Fabulous food in a fun space at reasonable prices. What a find!

One of our favorite restaurants in town. The food is delicious, the service is always excellent and the atmosphere is festive and informal. We had a delicious meal last night. Several of us ordered the salmon which was perfect. The chocolate brownie desert is great to share.

In town for business and our local rep set up dinner for us at Bankers Hill. Expected burgers and beer......Bankers Hill delivered a dinner experience i'll never forget! From the Schezuan Brussel Sprouts (best appetizer ever!!!) to the Flank Steak to the Butterscotch Pudding ( YES! REALLY!) most incredible dining experience I've had in a while!! I'm Not Exaggerating! I have no connections to this place, i don't know anyone that works there. I don't know if this is a corporate joint or a family owned establishment. I Don't Care! They're doing it RIGHT! Go before they lose the magic! By the way, staff was awesome!!!!! Our guy was from Biloxi.....best waiter ever!!!!

Truffle fries, pork tacos, and butterscotch pudding -- OMG!!! Outstanding service, cute location, and fantastic food at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

We've gotten spoiled at relatively good restaurants available at airports we pass through frequently- D/FW, Denver, Dallas Love. Offerings at San Diego's outdated and cramped terminals are a joke in comparison. We'll never make the mistake of not eating before we catch a flight out of San Diego again! Bankers Hill is wedged into Terminal 2...it was packed. We perched on the one available bar stool, ordered cocktails ($19 for a double vodka and cranberry? Well vodka at that. Geez, this place must be owned by bankers!) They redeemed themselves, though, with a fabulous chicken sandwich with fresh greens, brie and some of the best fries we've ever had. Just be warned, if you have a couple of cocktails, expect to drop $75 on lunch.....

The restaurant had a very cool ambiance. Service was friendly, attentive but not intrusive. Cocktails were amazingly good - we wanted to sneak the cocktail list home with us to try to recreate some of the inventive cocktails at home. My 6 year old wanted a steak and the kitchen willingly complied by giving him a smaller version of the main entrée - the steak and tomato tart were exceptional. We shared a goat cheese, beet and vegetable salad, the mushroom ravioli and the fish dish. All of which was very good. I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have finished my meal. We finished up the meal by sharing an ice cream sandwich for dessert. A nice sweet end to a great dining experience. Don't miss this restaurant!

First time visitor to this outstanding neighborhood establishment located in Bankers Hill. The outside is pretty nondescript and pretty easy to miss if you aren't looking for the place. The entry doors fold in/out which is pretty unique and interesting. The interior is nicely furnished with modern touches like wooden benches, wooden table tops, brick flooring for the outdoor patio area, and nice modern classic table and chairs for the inside. The host/hostess offer a warm friendly and inviting greeting. We were sat promptly and chose the outdoor patio to enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather. Our server, Chris, was outstanding. He was friendly, helpful with menu suggestions, prompt in his service, attentive in checking back with us for refills, and polite and friendly in his conversations with us at our table. Jeremy, who assisted with our food and drinks, complimented the wait staff service with a cheerful and helpful attitude in only his second day. Obviously, the management places a great deal of importance on customer service and customer satisfaction and it certainly shows by the way customers are treated at this place. As for the menu, it is varied with some very nice twists on some longtime standards. We started with the Deviled Eggs and the Fig Bruschetta which were both AMAZINGLY delicious. The entrees were meatloaf and chicken schnitzel which were out of this world as well. The desserts were heaven on a plate and included the Angel Food Cake with berries and cream along with the Butterscotch Pecan Praline with lady fingers. Simply too delicious to accurately describe in words. Paired with wine, beer, and coffees this meal offered excellent value for the quality of the food, which was nothing less than extraordinary, along with nice sized portions of food. If you have a chance to check this place out, I would highly recommend it for friends, family, or a date.

Varying menu success. - from tough chicken meatballs that tasted like sausage to well executed ravioli. A persimmon salad that had so many ingredients and a boat load of dressing that you couldn't tell if you were eating jicama or persimmon. Great starters, bread and wine list. Lackluster waiter. Don't make me order a drink twice after all the table has been served. Don't sit at the banquet table in back if you don't want to see many months' worth of filth coating the bottle pendent constructed chandelier. This restaurant is still very popular with the 25-40 crowd, but appears to be letting it's guard down.

Our Jet Blue no food flight from New York arrived at 8:30pm and we picked up our luggage and went directly to Bankers Hill.....I had deviled eggs then a hanger steak. Dale and our friends shared 2 fig salads and then each had something else. Arriving at 9:30pm is great as the place is quiet but still has a few guests. What a great menu, terrific staff, great looking room YUM

Yes, I have reviewed this restaurant before and here I go again! I was invited to eat there with family, which also included a 9month old baby! I was wondering how that would go. Well it went extremely well. Bankers Hill is a lively restaurant, classy with an upscale feel that never borders on pretentious or cloying. The food, as I expected, was amazing. I had the duck after the beet and toasted goat cheese appetizer. We also had shrimp skewers and bruschetta. Washed down with a couple of G&Ts; what more could I ask for? My hubby had the burger which had won rave reviews on TV recently as being the best in SD. He was in agreement! From the Martinis to the cocktails, to the snapper and other dishes we ordered, everyone in our party was excited and having a great time. The food was excellent. The baby was given a small amount of the potato leek soup and, honestly, I have never seen a child so quiet at a restaurant! It was very busy for a Wednesday night, I thought, but we were never rushed. The staff is knowledgeable and charming. I will be bringing all my friends here in the New Year.

We tried Bankers Hill for Easter Sunday brunch and it did not disappoint. Start with the sticky bun as it is a decadent treat. We opted for the Mimosa deal and then had some egg dishes that were delicious. The prices here are not outrageous and the menu offers a good variety of choices. The quality and quantity of food, along with efficient service makes for a very good dining experience. The atmosphere is casual and the décor is rustic. A simple dining room and patio without much color splash yet chic in its own way. This is a great choice and I would highly recommend.

A nice, low lit restaurant, relaxed and casual. Good range of beers, excellent, quick service. We shared the tuna civiche, absolutely delicious with a zing and a kick. I had the chicken meatballs, simple and flaws would show up easily but rosemary flavour was spectacular. A winner!

At Balboa Park on a Monday for the Italian Film Festival, we were surprised to find out everything closed by 4pm within walking distance. Found this place just outside the park and what a treat. Great Gastro-Pub ambiance, wonderful service and great food. Best Truffle fries we've ever had and not too salty. I had the pork tacos and my husband had the weinerschnitzel. We were served quickly and able to whisk back to the park in time for the Italian film. Not a hardship either if you had to get there on foot from the park.

I stopped by Bankers Hill with several of my friends while visiting San Diego for the weekend. Although this was my first time at Bankers Hill, it is now deemed my favorite spot to a relaxing, unique, and delecious meal in SD. The Black Angus Bistro Tenders were absolutly heavenly, and were cooked to perfection. I cannot say enough about how great my first experience was.

My sister had a recommendation to go to Bankers Hill Restaurant to try their Butterscotch Pudding Dessert. We ordered this and the Chocolate Cake with Mint Icecream, the Butterscotch Dessert was AMAZING! It had shortbread like cookies with it and it had a smooth taste that was not overly sweet. The Chocolate cake was very good as well, it was served cool and the mousse was a little hard to cut through, the mint ice cream was real mint and it was something that my pallet was not used to but it was still good. It did have a distinct flavor which seemed a bit refreshing.

Super good food and drink but absolutely no place to sit or stand. Loved the avocado toast and pork sliders. No plisners though. You ca. Take food to go though.

This is MY KIND OF PLACE! Classy and sophisticated vibe, great cocktails, awesome wine list, delicious food options, experienced staff, trendy and spacious decor. I'm not even going to say anything more, if you don't try Banker's Hill out, I feel sorry for you.

My daughter just moved to the Bankers Hill area so we met her for dinner at this restaurant on a friend's recommendation. They told me it was really good but I think they understated how good it really is. We are pretty picky but everything was great except for maybe part of the restaurant being too dark. At this restaurant I would definitely ask. Y server about the dishes as the menu can't really describe them. We had great Kentucky Mules to start ( which weren't on the species drink menu) and they we're outstanding. Made with their own ginger brew we sucked theme down. The appetizer of tuna tartare stack was interesting as it was served in a light jalapeño cream with BBQ pita chips. An ice combination. We tried three different entrees each of which was very tasty. We had the BBQ pork tacos, snapper and wild boar meatballs. The portions we're large and served very attractively. All of them tasted delicious. For dessert they surprised us with a free dessert of butterscotch pudding and homemade shortbread cookies to celebrate our daughter getting her own place. It was a nice touch. Service was very attentive but at times the staff was a little OCD about cleaning up after a course. I'd caution a little patience until all diners are finished eating. Not cheap but worth it

Slow service but they were very busy. These were the best steak tacos I have ever had. If you have the time to wait it's definitely worth a visit.

We work nearby, so this could be a regular place for us, but we'll see. The food and drink menus both are short, but inventive overall. They need to be less cute though with their menu; for example, the baby beet salad seemed like just beets cut into small pieces, so why not just call it plain beet salad? Their truffle fries are a signature item, and they are good, but the portions are way too large (and priced accordingly), so half the fries get cold before you can eat them. They also promote a daily changing sangria, but mine was kind of watery. The tacos were very tasty, and the couple at the next table said their burgers were excellent. If we go back, we'll try another entree and maybe a different cocktail. People at work say the place is very good for happy hour, so maybe it's better to go for that than for dinner.

This isn’t a place for cheap eats, but it’s worth every penny. Top quality ingredients, a beautiful atmosphere and exceptional service. This would also be a fabulous place for a party of 40 or less. Hint 1: there is no parking lot so give yourself extra time, prior to your reservation to find street parking. Hint 2: no matter what time of day... order a cinnamon roll!

I love hamburgers and try them wherever I go. This is the best I know of in San Diego. Meat is custom ground with combination of Meat. The fixing are amazing and with the added truffle fries addictive. I always have it with their mixed vegetable salad which has slightly cooked fresh veggies...yummy

We were looking for something in the Bankers Hill and Hillcrest areas since we were staying in that part of San Diego. Looked on-line and thought the menu and price range suited us well. We enjoyed it so much, we went back for a second dinner. On the second trip, we ordered appetizers, a bottle of wine and two dinners. The co-owner noticed us and decided we were "diners" and not just there to eat. She came and sat down and visited with us. We were impressed. She asked for our opinion, and we told her we had been there two nights earlier. We travel quite a bit, and have eaten in many locations, and the owner has NEVER come and asked for our opinion. It's certainly not typical "bar" food! Wine list includes many California wineries, but all are more than $45 a bottle. Half-dozen California beers on tap.

I found Bankers Hill listed in an article as one of the best brunches in San Diego. I booked a table at 10am on Sunday via Yelp and got there just as the doors were opening. Note there is ample street parking surrounding the hotel as well as a paid lot directly across the street. We opted to sit on the veranda since it was such a nice morning. My husband and I felt like we were in a lush, garden environment. We really enjoyed the cocktails (Silence of the Lambic and Grapefruit Collins) as well as our food (eggs benedict and chicken weiner schnitzel). The service was also very friendly! The only reason this doesn't get five stars is it was a bit expensive and the planes landing overhead every few minutes coupled with pretty loud music for brunch made conversation difficult at times.

So happy I live in this city so that I can experience the wonderment of Banker's Hill. Menu items always change with the season, food is always of highest quality and flavor, service impeccable and ambiance just right. If you want a great farm-to-table meal in San Diego, this is the place to get it.

Took a client to dinner here, really enjoyed it. Atmosphere trendy but comfortable, ambiance upscale but comfortable. We had bruscheta as app - really exceptional. Bbq pork tacos excellent (and a bit messy to eat). Hamburger with cheese exceptional, really good beef. Only knock: wine by glass expensive for tiny servings. Regardless, really nice meal and experience.

A friend chose this place for her birthday celebration and I'm so glad she did. The food was fabulous. We arrived while it was still happy hour and thus chose a few items from the happy hour menu to share: the roasted beet & citrus salad with goat cheese crostini and bowl of truffled French fries. A great start! One of my friends chose to order two more happy hour items for her meal, the cheeseburger slider and BBQ braised pork taco, and said both were great. The birthday girl and I don't eat red meat often, but we both chose the BH burger -- and it was an absolute delight, topped with yummy aged white cheddar cheese. The restaurant served a complimentary dessert with lighted candle that featured caramel drizzled over vanilla ice cream, and we also ordered the butterscotch pudding with creme fraiche, pecan toffee, and shortbread cookies. To die for! Our server was attentive and helpful and no one minded that we were the last table left on this Tuesday night after 10 p.m. They kept filling our water glasses as we gabbed. High marks go to this great neighborhood eatery.

We visited for dinner with our 2 kids (teen and tween) and had a great meal--lots of interesting options (especially the apricot bruschetta!)--including a vegetarian pasta dish that looked like the ingredients had literally just been picked straight from the farm! Desserts were fantastic--had to hold ourselves back from not ordering one of each!

I am writing after my second visit in a couple of weeks. And I'll be going again. A friend from work attending a conference here told me it was one of his favorite places he had tried and recommended it . I tried it and was sold. The service was very good, the decor fun. Kind of industrial upscale and comfortable. The menu is fairly eclectic, but very satisfying. I really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts appetizer. Roasted to caramelize, with a very interesting sauce. The tap beer is local craft and very good. The wine list is also good. The entrees were all very good too. Check it out on their website. On one visit, I was feeling like a burger, so I just did that. And it was great. Think chef-cooked basic staple. Fun. They also offer truffle fries with that, although the traditional ones were great. But this isn't primarily a burger place at all, good as they are at that. The menu changes, but they offer things like Pacific Snapper, Chicken Weiner Schnitzel, and other very inserting dishes. All in all, you are likely to really enjoy this place. I'll be back, as will the folks I was dining with.

I met a friend here after work on a Wednesday evening. We chose inside although the outside patio looked very inviting too! My dinner was wonderful -- I chose the tortellini special. The service was great. We brought our own bottle of wine -- corkage was $15 -- a bargain! When we left, the place was nearly full which surprised me for a Wednesday. I would definitely come back!

The whole experience was fantastic. Cool atmosphere, great service, great food and great drinks. Definitely worth checking out.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I get extreme anxiety before I get on an airplane. My boyfriend and I stopped in Bankers Hill before our flight so I could get a cocktail, and it was love at first sip. I ordered their brand-new cocktail, the Balboa Constrictor, which is made with white rum, maraschino liqueur, ancho chili liqueur, lemon juice, grapefruit olio and mint. It was refreshing and tasted like summer! Not only was it delicious, but it sure did help my nerves. I also loved the vibe and service at Bankers, hands now our favorite airport restaurant.

We dined at Bankers Hill on the Sunday between Xmas & NYE. Everyone, from the hostess who seated us to the waitress and servers were professional and friendly, even opening their very strange front doors for us. We were seated near the front doors (pros-you can hear every member of your party speak, cons- cold air when door is opened). We started with the Truffle Fries which were a huge serving, but the 3 of us polished them off before they could cool down. Salty, addictive and very crunchy, need I say more? We ordered the cheeseburger, and subbed a great salad for the fries N/C. Two of us had the chicken meatballs with gnocchi, which was fantastic. We also ordered local beers, really liked them, and all of us would go back. Local street parking was easy to find, this is near the zoo and downtown, and kids are welcome here too.

If you're on a Southwest flight Gates 3-10 anywhere near the time of cocktail hour forget getting a table/chair. But the food is terrific. Fresh, funky. Standing room only.

I went 5 times so far, which is something I do before I write any review and this restaurant is definitely a winner! Great food, amazing ambience and well priced. Due to the fact that is off downtown, parking is really easy. Having all of the above, I highly recommend for your to visit; I am going back for sure!!

We walked up really looking forward to having breakfast here, (as it came up with the breakfast filter), plus it says “OPEN NOW” .. But it was closed...

I couldn't find BH's airport location on TripAdvisor, so I'm leaving my review here. This place is horrid even by airport standards. The man who took our order was very rude when I requested no slaw on my fish tacos and kept pushing me to "try it, it's not that sweet" even though I'd told him sugary entrees disgust me. When we were served, he made a Very Big Deal of the fact that he'd left the slaw off and called me "dear"... I'm not a child and not yet a little old lady. Yuck. Food was meh and a woman server snatched my plate away and dumped it in the trash without asking me if I was finished, which I wasn't. She waited quite some time before asking if she could get me another drink, which I'd already ordered from our actual server and which of course wasn't comped even after the plate-snatching incident. Given that we were going to be stuck on a plane during the dinner hour, I made the tremendous mistake of grabbing a Caprese sandwich from BH's to-go case around the corner. $11.25 for "focaccia" with the texture and flavor of a fast-food hamburger bun, drenched in balsamic vinegar so that the whole thing was a sickly-sweet, mushy mess. I managed to salvage a few bites of the mozzarella before asking the flight attendant to please throw the rest away. I messaged BH and have gotten no reply, so it's obvious they don't care about airport customers. If you're flying out of San Diego, do yourself a favor and find real food before you arrive, no matter what it takes.

I recently went to Bankers Hill with a group of friends for a dinner party. We unanimously agreed that this was one of the best dining experiences that we've had. The restaurant itself has a relaxed atmosphere combined with some of the best food and cocktails in San Diego. We started with an array of in-house cocktails. You simply cannot go wrong with any of them. We then shared a couple of orders of bruschetta. For mains, we went with the gnocchi, vegetable ravioli and pork tacos. Again, everything was excellent and there was a lot of food sharing among our group. It was tough to fit it in, but I elected for dessert. Simply put, their butterscotch pudding is impeccable and the best pudding you will ever eat. I cannot wait to go back.

I'm probably being a little harsh for a place that has a cool vibe and the quality of the food is good. The service was excellent. They do change the menu daily so maybe it was an off day. The Pork belly tapas was bean over powering and therefore lost the real pork flavor. The polenta stuffed chili was good but I eat lots of Mexican and for a place like this it should have been far more elevated, the salmon dish was over salted. Basically at half the price this dinner would have been acceptable in an average place and the last time I was at Bankers Hill it wasn't average it was exceptional, but it this time it was average.

We visited here late on a weekday evening for food and drink. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed with a modern urban feel to it. The food was great, the pulled pork tacos were the best tacos we had during our visit to California!

Decent food. Good flavor stale chips for the nachos and tacos. Nice staff. Good cocktails. Good airport food I guess at SAN.

did not have dinner, sat at the bar and had an appetizer which was excellent, wine and service was great, very friendly staff

We were in San Diego for two weeks, ate almost all our meals out and this was our best dinner of the trip. Although we like beet salad, lately most restaurants seem to serve it with goat cheese. Since we are not cheese lovers we usually don't order it, but Bankers Hill prepares it with radishes, lardons and whole grain mustard. Great salad! My wife had the grouper and scallops dish and thought the flavors were delicate. When I look at a dinner menu my eyes seem to be drawn to pork chops or meatloaf. Their meatloaf had a chipotle glaze and it was fantastic; possibly the best I have had. We thought the service was outstanding as well, even though the place was packed. For those of you who prefer a quieter setting I would suggest sitting in their outdoor area, because on a busy night the restaurant can get very noisy.

We went to celebrate a birthday with 9 friends. Everything about the dining experience was perfect. We were there for restaurant week and it was packed. Our table was ready when we got there and there was a great prefixed menu. It was a 3 course dinner with plenty of options. The barramundi is an absolute must have, one of the best fish dishes I've ever had, hamds down! Everything else everyone had was perfect, can't wait to go back.

Good wine selection; awesome truffled fries; delicious duck confit; so so dessert; good service; outdoor heat lamps could've been used on a cool evening; overall very good

Good recommendations from trip advisor led us here. Really cool place immediately upon entering. Proper service throughout the meal enhanced our experience. Must try the burger and fries. Chicken schnitzel with cauliflower mashed potatoes was even better. Highly recommend!

Waiting for my flight, I was starved and ordered a salad and a glass of wine that came to $33.50. What a rip off that they would charge $19.50 for a glass of wine that was nothing more than a house wine perpetuated as "premium". I live in Northern California and have never paid $19.50 for a glass of wine at SFO airport or in SFO proper and I'm talking about really good wine. Lesson learned not to spend money at the San Diego airport.

Every time I go to San Diego for business we go to Searsucker so I was excited when my local co-worked suggested Bankers Hill instead. It was an area I had never been to before but the restaurant had a very warm feeling with great dark lighting. I hadn't heard of many of the wines but the bottle they picked out for us was delicious. I sampled the bruchetta which were delicious and also had the pear salad and special local fish. Overall very happy with my meal and the bill. Staff was friendly and helfpul. Will return on my next trip to the city.

Arrived on foot, hungry and tired, with just 10 minutes to order before the lunch kitchen closed. Placed a quick order for BBQ pork tacos with a fruit plate side order, and out came a delicious lunch. Tacos were hard-shelled, surrounded by a nice cold slaw and a small dish of hottt marinated carrots, peppers, and onions. The fruit plate was a delightful combination of sliced strawberries, blueberries, and purple fig: sophisticated, appealing, and at peak ripeness. Decor is urban chic wood, bar stools/booths, open loft ceilings with exposed ducting, and a few mounted mule deer heads. All in all, we loved it.

Loved this restaurant. Went for a large business dinner and they handled all 30 of us without any issues. Very good service, food was great and unique. Our menu had no prices on it so not sure but presume it was @$20.00+ per entree. Nice atmosphere with great private room open to the sky. I would go again.

Ate here two nights ago. It was as good as I remember. Started with yellowtail tostadas and short rib bruschetta. Could have made a great meal with just these two small plates. But........ The BBQ pork tacos as my entree were as good as it gets. Others had sea bass, lamb meatballs and the burger. All I heard were yummy noises. A great place, great service and wonderful food.

Made the mistake of having a couple of drinks at Banker''s Hill at the airport. Flight was delayed and my wife and I thought we would treat ourselves to a little refreshment. Ordered two drinks, bourbon and 7 & rum and coke. Would you like doubles, why not.Drinks came in 12 oz. water glasses, nice. She said that will be $47.00! Screeeeech! WTH? There must be some mistake I said. She said, no, $47.00... Wife couldn't taste her bourbon and my rum & coke was made with knock-off Coca Cola... WE WON'T EVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!!!!!

We were visiting and found this place on Google. We were looking for affordability and this place had only 2 dollar signs, but did find this restaurant to be a "white tablecloth" place without the tablecloth to tip you off. They were pushing the prix fixe menu for restaurant week ($30 for 3 courses, $40 with drinks) and we only wanted a couple of appetizers. They showed us the regular menu as we were leaving. Regular drink prices exceeded $10, but they were good. I had the shrimp ceviche, delicious and filling with good sauce and tortillas sprinkled with paprika. My companion had eggplant parmesan, which did not come with pasta - still delicious. We enjoyed the outdoor terrace with plants on the side wall and wood timbers, but ended up spending over $70 including tip - a little pricy for us.

I've been going to this place at happy hour for a light meal and a beer. Everything I've had has been very good. The servers are very nice. My only complaint is that the portions are small for the price. It's convenient to downtown, Balboa Park and Hillcrest. Street parking is easy at that time of day.

Went here with my daughter, her huz and my two HS age grandkids on a Friday evening -- with a reservation. Table was ready, but just walking into the place was an assault on my ears. It's really an up-scale comfort-food bar with TV's, not a restaurant. However the food was very good, satisfying all ages. I had a chipotle meatloaf which was excellent. It was very difficult to conduct conversation with anyone, even my daughter sitting just to my left. Just too much noise in the background.

Went to Brunch here with a group of friends. We got seated in the back area, which was great for a big group of us. I had their bloody Mary and it was the first time that I have ever had bloody Mary with devil’s egg. It was absolute fantastic! I ended up having 2 by the end of brunch. Food was simple and good. We ordered the chilaquiles with chorizo, another friend order a cheeseburger, and I just had scramble eggs with chicken sausage. One outstanding dish was the brioche French toast with fresh berries. One thing that was disappointing is that we wanted the cinnamon sticky bun and they had sold out. I was told that they are just starting to open for brunch on the weekend. I really hope that they have a consistency in their food and menu. This is already a great place with fun décor and a full bar. If you have not been to BHB…go there and give it a try!

Stopped in for drinks and munchies with friends. Nice selection of food and drink. Nice atmosphere and good service.

It’s my first time in San Diego and luckily enough, this place is really close to where I’m lodging. The bartender Liz recommended the Irish Garden, made with Irish gin and other ingredients.., soooo good!!! For entree, She recommended House Made Pappardelle with wild boar ragu... in heaven! Just the right portion and the wild bore was so tasty and tender, I could have this every week. I will definitely recommend this restaurant. Great service and great food.... definitely repeatable!!!

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, and moderate prices are a great combination. Atmosphere: high ceiling, lots of wood, well spaced tables, and the restaurant smelled "fresh". Salmon+arugula+etc appetizer was yummy, as were the fish and shrimp entrees, capped off by an excellent brown betty dessert.

Open design yet not too loud like many popular restaurants. Be sure to try the broiled Brussels sprouts appetizer---really yummy! Menu changes daily.

We were staying at the Keating House B&B in Banker's Hill a few blocks from this restaurant and the owners of the B&B recommended it. We, in turn recommended it to everyone else staying at the B&B, all of them liked it too. Since it was a beautiful evening, we elected to sit in the "outside" area. It is completely enclosed except no roof. If you are distracted by airplane landing noise, sit inside. Planes arriving at the San Diego airport seem to be only a few hundred feet above this place. It didn't bother us much, but every 5 minutes or so our conversation stopped. Inside the airplane noise was not so noticeable. For three of us, my wife and I and our 16 year old daughter, we had: - A vegetable with goat cheese and an avocado & citrus with goat cheese salad, both excellent; - a Roasted Pacific Red snapper with shrimp entree; - a Spice seared swordfish with artichoke entree; - and a tortellini with snap peas and sherried mushroom entree. - we also had a side dish of roasted brussels sprouts with pecorino cheese , excellent too. All of the entrees were fantastic. And, somehow we saved room for dessert and shared a smores souffle type thing that was delicious. They apparently change their menu at least weekly depending on what ingredients look good that week. But, they keep some combination of the pork tacos, burger, or ribs on the menu all the time. Overall a very nice dinner out with the ladies.

A fun spot for dining with friends. Small menu selection yet varied. Good selection of beer and wine also.

Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. Had some good reviews and decided to try it. Although we had to take a cab from the Hyatt it was worth the trip. The food was delicious and the decor different. Had trouble finding our way in with unusual doors. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect review is because my husband said his steak was just good. My fish and shrimp were terrific. They had a nice wine list and some special cocktails.

I have eaten at this midtown restaurant twice in the past few months and would say it is definitely worth you trying. They currently are very popular on the weekends which makes it not the place for a quiet romantic dinner but acceptable for most other events. The bar seemed popular and there was a dollar of the wines during Happy Hour and some smaller portions of appetizers served at a lower price also. We had dinner with a very nice fig salad---ask for more greens and the fish of the day and an egg plant entree and also had their popular truffled flavored French fries as an appetizer/side dish ,although the bread and butter would have been enough carbohydrate. Both entrees were very flavorful and adequate sizes portions. The wines by the glass we ordered were flavorful but not vineyards I recognized (not necessarily a bad thing) but were a couple of dollars "over priced". We did not have desert but with 3 glasses of wine, one appetizer two entrees and one cup of coffee tax and tip came to about $100 for 2. Not excessive but not cheap---so my suggestion is watch the wine. I would definitely suggest reservations especially on the weekends and after 6-7PM Definitely worth a try especially if you do not want to hassle with crowds and parking in the Gaslamp. On the corner of 4th and Ivy.

We were able to walk to this restaurant and it had been recommended by our host. This restaurant menu changes often because it is very "farm to table". We had an amazing dinner. I usually order a seafood dish but the skirt steak looked good to both of us - what a great choice! I don't know what they do to this fairly tough cut but you barely needed the knife. The twice baked potato was unbelievable. We shared a salad which was delicious - I actually asked how they got the cauliflower to taste like that (30 sec steam!). My only complaint is that the noise level is very high.

Great food, ask for the Avocado Toast. Delicious!. My son had the brunch Burger, it was delicious! Wil will definitely come back!

and then come back here to thank me for the drink recommendation. I actually go to BH for the food - the Grouper and the pork tacos are musts. Oh, and the truffle fries! Yummmmmmmy.

First time customer. Dined with family, not a problem if kids are well behaved. Kids menu available and a very good deal. Great ambiance for special occasion or date. Had the meatball appetizer, steak, and bratwurst dishes with a good wheat beer. Dessert was nice. Staff were very professional. I expect I'll return next time I'm in SD.

Another good experience at Bankers Hill Bar + Restaurant. Upon arrival there was no wait and we were seated at a small table for two. Always one of my pet peeves when a restaurant is empty. Please ask if a customer wants a bigger table especially if you serve small plates resulting in multiple dishes arriving at once. Service was good, with the server answering questions and providing menu suggestions. Reason for the lower rating was that we did not see him much after that, also he provided happy hour menus to a table next to us, however never offered one to us. Food was good as usual. I would recommend this for a good dinner experience.

We had limited time between flights and walked by here on the way to the next gate, so we gave it a try. We split a turkey cranberry club sandwich with chips and a soda. Typical airport prices for 1 sandwich, 1 chip and 1 soda almost $20.00. The food was OK and they were crowded so we stood at a table to eat.

Check it out for happy hour when you can feast of tasty portions while you sip your cocktail. Great seating outside with the wall of succulents. The staff is genuinely friendly. You'll want to return to keep sampling the menu of enticing choices.

The food is delicious. This restaurant has one of the best service staff. The ambiance is nice to hang out with friends and chat.

This restaurant has ambience and this is what brings in a lot of diners. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an extensive bar area, and a restaurant space at a different level from the bar. The restaurant is open for dinner week days and brunch on the weekend. Our party found service friendly and the order was served within a reasonable amount of time. The platters came with an appealing presentation. Why, then, only three stars? First, we were led to a table that was not well-cleaned from prior diners. Yes, the table had been cleaned, but there were multiple crumbs still on the table. The rusticness that adds to the ambience is also a problem for cleaning. That is, there are grooves in the table top that literally invite crumbs and residue to hide and remain on the table. The manager at brunch might spend less time with hands in his pocket and more time inspecting the tables. We found the food good, but not outstanding, except that the sticky bun was a major tour de force.

The food is wonderful! We ate brunch here before the airport and it was close and worth the time. The vegetable Benedict was amazing and don’t forget the homemade cinnamon rolls.

Very nice romantic dinner on the outside yet inside deck, great wine list, cool vibe, great food.hand made hand crafted interesting presentation.

Not a huge beer selection, but nice San Diego variety. Great variety of food choices, including vegetarian options. Don't miss the truffle fries, and burger fans will LOVE the BH burger.

I grabbed breakfast here on my way out of San Diego. Keeping in mind that the SD Airport is one of the least accommodating major airports that I have ever used, so seating is at a premium no matter where you go. Bankers Hill is the only "sit down" restaurant/bar on the secure side of the TSA Security checkpoint. I had the bacon and eggs, which were average airport-quality. The service was friendly and on-spot.

This was recommended by our Airbnb hosts as it's one of their local haunts. We took their advice and checked it out -it's very popular any night in summer , especially weekends. Enjoyed our meal , service and buzz of the place on our first night in San Diego so much we went back a second time - not disappointed. Great burgers.

Great spot to visit. Busy. Needed a reservation but found space for a small bite at the bar. Warm and inviting. Bit noisy but with good energy. Fresh take on drinks (grapefruit one was perfect - not too sweet) and appetizers. Will return for dinner!

We recently ate dinner here and had a really great meal. I disagree however that it's the "best food in San Diego" like some of the posts say. Our favorite is actually The Market in Del Mar which I understand is owned by the same owner. That place has really fabulous food. This place has a really excellent vibe and feel to it. Market is really boring basically in a non-descript building with no character and soul to it. (However we don't go for the vibe but the great food). I actually thought some of the dishes weren't perfectly flavored like some are claiming. We started with the chili marinated shrimp skewers and there was way too much Chili powder/flavoring on our shrimp. I'm not sure if it was just a fluke but it was too overpowering. The bruschetta was good. However our roasted red beet salads were PERFECT. My wife enjoyed the Scottish Salmon dish and I got the BBQ pork tacos which were good but I felt were a bit over flavored as well. A beautiful restaurant and I'd definitely come back but definitely prefer the food at Market, their other restaurant.

This restaurant looked good "on paper," but the ever changing menu seems to be in search of finding a true direction. The food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't worth the price point charged. The tables are not that comfortable and the DARK restaurant made us wonder if there might be a bright light which would come on to interrogate us during the meal. Overall, the experience was "okay," but not worth a return trip.

Flight out delayed and stopped into this gem while I was waiting. The Bartender, Allie, was awesome. Friendly, fast and pours a good vodka tonic. Thanks for making my layover a better one!

Ate here last night with my wife. I had the cheeseburger with regular fries. She had the meatloaf. Both were excellent! I started with a watermelon and feta salad that was off the charts good. I had a drink called a bourbon and bitter which was excellent! Love this place! Sat at the bar and ha great service!

Nice neighborhood restaurant. The food is delicious. The bar area is "very" noisy try to sit on the opposite side. Friendly staff and quick service. If you don't have a reservation go early and they will try to seat you. A real hit in San Diego.

Had entree salads - good and very filling. Service all around us seemed to be on spot. But our server was terrible. I will go back and give it another shot.

Great casual place to eat before theater. Good food and service, parking is not an issue. Eating in the patio was very nice.

We really enjoyed our food - smoked salmon crepes and eggs benedict, also with smoked salmon instead of Canadian bacon. Both were delicious.

Excellent food and lovely ambiance. All the dishes we ordered were really tasty, the cocktails were excellent too.

We tried this restaurant after have read the TA reviews and we can confirm that this is a very nice place to have dinner. Located out of the touristic routes the restaurant is beautiful a with a good atmosphere. The quality of food is high as well as the beers local they have on the menu. We had a great dinner. Go there!

Great food, I had the ricotta peach bruschetta and it was fabulous, also the beet salad which was a very good size. I tried the Chablis white wine and was very refreshing, just thought I'd do something different. Great ambiance and good service. Lots of parking outside on the street which is a plus.

Great service, average food but plenty of quantity. Food is geared towards the older generation, as is the decor.

Our dinner was good overall. We sat outside which was nice but the planes arriving right over the restaurant were a bit annoying. The service was good. The inside was loud but a fun atmosphere. Good local beer.

Totally stumbled upon this place while out looking for a house with a few friends. Very cute place! We had the tender filet and the roasted vegetable salad! Sooooo good, cant wait to go back!

If you are a foody at all or just want something really really special, try Bankers Hill. They call it "farm to table" foods and the menue changes with availability of ingredients but they have some staples that are nothing short of phenominal. We were a party of six and shared the awesome Truffled French Fries, Seared Yellowtail Tostadas and the Braised Beef Shortribs Bruscetta. Then, my husband and I split a Spice-Seared Scottish Salmon with crispy polenta that was "to die for." If you get a chance, try Bankers Hill.

So the food here is earthy and flavorful. The cocktails are imaginative. I would definitely eat here again.

Location - Bankers Hill, just up the hill from downtown, on your way to Balboa Park. Old restored brick building with a great outside patio area and big bar. Food - farm to table, creative, delish. Have yet to try something I don't like! Drinks - craft cocktails, good beer & wine selection. Price - completely reasonable! Love this place!

Suffering through a flight delay in the San Diego airport, I decided to find food. The line were long at the burger places, and I wanted something better, anyway. I found really good food, excellent friendly service (Lindsay) and a surprising variety of bourbon choices at the bar. If you are looking for a drink or a good meal in the San Diego airport - this is your spot !

We had a last minute dinner decision and thought we would try Bankers Hill. They did not disappoint! We had the strudel with jalapeño sauce, the beet salad (AMAZING!) and polished the dinner off with a nice armagnac. I totally recomend this place, not only for the good food but cool atmosphere.

Our Jet Blue flight from New York arrived at 7:45pm and by 9pm we were at Bankers Hill enjoying a great casual dinner. I had deviled eggs then hanger steak. Each of our friends had something else. Terrific. I can't think of a nicer way to arrive in San Diego.....that Jet Blue doesn't serve "real food" is a good thing. We were ready for dinner when we arrived. Funny, we didn't realize this is owned by the same fellow who owns our other favorite here, The Market. By the way, there is more than enough choice for the gluten intolerant and they are careful about this. One last thing, the bartender last night was particularly stingy with the red wine. Our friend mentioned it to the waiter and he brought a second glass "on him". Maybe it was a one time thing. Maybe not.

This review is for the Bankers HiIl restaurant at the airport. I'm a vegetarian, so I ordered the grilled cheese with mushrooms and onions (that's the way it came). It was extremely greasy but the fries were good. My stomach didn't enjoy it at all. So, unless you have a strong stomach and are used to something like this, try something else.

there are many restaurants in SF with super views but this is simply among the best. Plans coming in to airport fly right by you. Menu is OK.

I took a group of 8 work associates to this restaurant - 3 of us were from out-of-town and 5 were local customers. They accept reservations and had our table ready as promised. Great bar area to have drinks ahead of dinner (and happy hour deals!). Bartenders were helpful with suggestions and prompt with service. Loved the purse hooks under the bar - little details that are so nice! Dinner was great. We had some wonderful appetizers . . . truffled french fries, artichoke & burrata cheese bruschetta, and deviled eggs. Lots of different options were selected by the table and everyone was happy with their entrees. Desert was amazing and definitely suggest saving room to give it a try. The service was wonderful with attentiveness to refills and allowance for flow of food while also socializing. The vibe in the restaurant is really comfortable. There is a small area for dining outside if the weather permits. Not a large place, so I can see how it might be tough to walk in and get a seat during busy times. Right down from Balboa Park with street parking.

of San Diego! Great pork tacos and a very good wine list. Trendy sort of place away from downtown hustle and bustle. Primarily a local hangout.

Although the food is good. No welcome wagon here..... the quality or disposition of receiving and treating guests should be warm, friendly, and welcoming.

Stopped here after a few hours at the San Diego Zoo. Excellent small plates and unique cocktails. The Asparagus & Aged White Cheddar Tart, and the Seared Yellowtail Tostadas were delicious!

Environment is high in energy, decor easy to enjoy, and the food is outstanding especially for the price point. worth visiting and enjoy one of the many outstanding wines, a starter and a main course. If there is room for it, the 4 desserts we tried were all good.

This is a super restaurant for plain, fancy, relaxed dining. Great ambiance feels so California with part of the restaurant glassed but outside, decor of wool and metal and very cool. Although we are waiting for friends, service at the table is attentive and we start with drinks. The special spicy pear cocktail begins things perfectly . Our friends arrive and we discuss the menu, revealing that the chef is really excellent and has a more upscale place in Del Mat. We ooh. and aaaah, awaiting our own decision. We start with a lovely cauliflower take on Mac and cheese. This au gratin combo is sensational, moist, delicious, far better and better for you than Mac and cheese. This is the ultimate comfort dish, but healthy. The problem is that we have theatre tickets and service really really lags. My husband and I have burgers which when they eventually come are too quickly devoured - although I think they might have been the best I've ever eaten and I'm not really a burger fan. There's a gorgeous slice of white cheese, curly tomatoes, truffle fries, a wow burger. Medium cooked, but me, a bit too rare in the centre. But I eat and enjoy it anyway. My focus is on getting to the theatre on time and precious time with friends so I think they had what looks like meatloaf.i wish we hadn't been under pressure to leave because if I like my meal, I like to take my time, pause and concentrate on the fine quality and chef's art. But truly, these guys are way too slow getting the food out. We'll try again .

Starting with the hostess, she might have had a personal problem and seemed sad when she sat us and didn't ask me about my reservation or say anything to us. Our waitress DID SEEM nice and cheerful but never ordered our appetizer or checked on us during our meal. We left and nobody said thanks for coming or anything all the help were in the kitchen laughing. I will never return. H.H. Beet salad very good Grouper Very good Tenderlion was very underdone and BLUE and over salted.

In the mid-high price range but worth it.Recommended to us by a local foodie. Interesting menu, food was delicious, all complimented by a great ambience which allows for a relaxing meal. Busy over the weekends so book!

A friend and I stopped in for something small that we could share. I was delighted to see that my most favorite food, deviled eggs, was on the menu. We ordered the eggs with anticipation and also got a side of lemon crisps (we heard they were to die for). They eggs were egg-cellent!! The creaminess of the eggs and the crunchiness of the lemon crisps are simply wonderful. These were, hands down, the best deviled eggs I've ever had (shhh don't tell my mom)!

We found Bankers Hill Bar and Restaurant for dinner before going to a play and the food was outstanding. We had the Pork Tacos and the Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin and shared both of them. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Not overly loud at 7pm on Saturday. The Strawberry Shortcake and homemade sorbet were incredible, too!

We've been here 4 times now and it is a solid choice. The service is always top notch and the food is great. A lot of place have a wide array of choices but nothing I actually want to eat. Bankers Hill has a great variety that fit my tastebuds' tastes. The only complaint is the portions are a little small but then again, I probably eat too much. We just went for my wife's birthday and they brought her a free dessert cake which was very nice. Impress out of town guests or take a fancy night out without paying for it, this is a great place.

Always innovative, fresh, and delicious. Good wine list and interesting cocktails. They keep about 20% of their tables open for walk-ins. We had wild boar meat balls served on a bed of polenta with fresh corn kernels, steamed spinach, and baby squash, topped with chunky tomato sauce. Wow!

We came here for the dinner during our staying in SD on October. I can tell you, this is one of the best restaurants I have ever visit - great experience, delicious food, awesome staff and their service WOW. I recommend everybody to eat at this place.

Had dinner here on a weekend visit to SD. Cool old building, maybe ambiance lighting a wee dark but cool atmosphere. Tacos were dusted with a seasoning, almost like a taco Dorito, in a good way. Pork was lean and flavorful not fatty in any way. Enjoyed! Bueno!

Went to Bankers Hill for a meet and greet blind date. Although we just had appetizers and wine. It was a very enjoyable place. And I'd love to go back for dinner. The atmosphere was excellent with a casual to dressy ambiance. Patio seating and a bar made our options nice.

Excellent drink service and fast food service that's really good, healthy food choices. Professional staff, greeting, watching, serving customers thanks.

I loooved this place. I've been there twice already. The second time around I ordered the meatloaf, it was not great but was not bad either. However, their hamburger was really good... and the Aoli was delicious!!!!!!

I asked for Grinch fried and for stone additional shipping sauce which was an 1/8 cup more than what came with the fries, and she told me that I world have to pay $3.00 more for the extra sauce for the fries. This place socks. The service is the worst

Food was incredible! Atmosphere was awesome! My family brought me and my fiance here to celebrate our engagement. I had the 1/2 chicken and it was so moist and flavorful! Appetizers were great and the evening was wonderful. I will definitely be back!!

I was hearing a lot of good things about Bankers Hill so I made sure to go in and check them out during my short stay in SD. I came away incredibly impressed with not only the quality of their food, but the service I received. The Meyer Lemon and Fennel Marmalade Bruschetta was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

8 people dined here and thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Entrees ordered were the Cajun fried chicken breast, pork chop, NY Strip steak, and mushroom ravioli. The pork chop was incredibly tender and juicy. We had a large table in the back of the restaurant that was very quiet and allowed for easy conversation.

My husband and I stopped by for brunch. The truffle fries were to die for and the Meyer lemon bruschetta was amazing. I thought the deviled egg in the Bloody Mary was a little weird, but I pulled it out and it tasted great. I tried the "stalker" cocktail. It was sweet and spicy... So unique. Great service and decor. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Four of us ate here on a busy Saturday night. The place was jammed. Our server was knowable about the menu items and offered several good suggestions. The food was very good. I had the pork tacos and they turned out to not be my favorite. They were fine just not a good choice for my tastes. My wife had the shrimp dish and it was excellent. High noise level but not painful. Shpuld be repeated.

If it was all about the food, my review would be top notch. The waitress was so poor, it changed everything. Morgan, the bus girl was awesome, but Rachel S. The waitress was terrible . She takes a good restaurant down.

We hosted a private business event for about 100 people at this restaurant. The food was absolutely spectacular and the service was fantastic. The restaurant is slightly away from the downtown area, which was very appealing for me and added to the experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going there again.

I have been to Bankers Hills Bar and Restaurant a handful of times and although the food is great, the service lacks a lot of detail which surprises me because I honestly believe they must have great management. I have been there for dinner before to witness certain carelessness from the service staff mostly but I did not want to harbor that against the restaurant. I was there last saturday, and was seated with my group in the patio. A persistent drizzled came thru (I believe they were predicting showers that night, and I know any restaurant with a patio would not dare to seat people in a patio with no roof if there is any prediction of rain). The drizzle came thru, people ran out of the space into the restaurant. Only the brave (my group and a couple others) faced that slightly chilly drizzle. Very late in the game, almost when we had finished our rain misted dinner and dessert, did they come by to check on us regarding the drizzle. It was dissapointing. I had not let bad service deter me from this restaurant until dealing with such bad hosting etiquette.

We just came in on an early flight from Portland and were hungry for breakfast. We both ordered breakfast food and it was really good. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food that we had. The staff was very friendly and courteous and the atmosphere was nice for an airport restaurant. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a good breakfast at an airport.

Bankers Hill is located in a quiet neighborhood just west of Balboa Park. It's a cool space, very urban and industrial, with shades of a modern barn full of beams and reclaimed wood. Having dined in more than my fair share of gastropubs I was prepared for familiar food. Bankers Hill provided a fair share of pleasant surprises. We started with a lovely tuna tartare, served with crisp crackers and a lovely spicy Serrano chili salsa. Second courses were butternut squash soup and a wonderful prosciutto, fig and burrata salad. Our mains were a boneless duck confit served over red cabbage and yams and a gnocchi bolognese with rich chunks of beef. Great service and cocktails rounded out the meal. Definitely a local spot and off the tourist track. Very good and worth a visit!

When with my daughter for dinner on a Monday evening. I was impressed with the waitress because of her knowledge of the menu, food preparation drink selection and not scared to interject her opinion... I thought the food was very tasty, appealing to the eye, but kind of small serving. (actually the amount you should eat) I do think the lighting could be a little better, besides that I would recommend this place to enjoy for a nice meal. .

Flying out to Houston on Southwest. Needed to get something to eat on flight so went to Bankers Hill conveniently located right at the gate I was leaving from! Purchased a Turkey Cranberry sandwich and water. Priced fairly for the great quality, taste and freshness. Service (Fernando) was super friendly. I will always go here when flying out of this terminal.

My fiancée and I are foodies . We are spoiled here in San Diego , many yummy dining options ! Restaurant week is a great way to try a full three course meal at a reasonable price . Every year we try at least one new restaurant in our city with great reviews . I had been wanting to try BHR for over a year and I’m beyond glad we did ! Everything from the starters to dessert were impeccable! We ordered the pork belly Brussels and the cauliflower soup , both super flavorful! Mains were the Schnizel and the steak (amazing ) even the sides that accompanied were delectable. My fave were the au gratin potatoes, great spin on the dish adding melted white cheese over top ! Lastly desserts were exquisite! We ordered the carrot cake and chocolate number which ended every thing so perfectly! We will surely be back !

Family of three for brunch on a Sunday. Easy to get a table without a reservation although there was plenty of business. Friendly service and vintage wood adorned open-air dining room. This was a very rare occasion in San Diego when open air was actually not a good thing due to high humidity and temperature. Solid brunch menu with a lot of options ranging from standard brunch fare to hamburgers. Highlights of our meal were the truffle fries and the deviled eggs. The "Wedge" salad was tasty but a bit heavy on the dressing. Price was a bit hefty for a light brunch but we all enjoyed our meal. Overall a nice experience, and we would consider going back.

A group of 8 of us went to brunch for a bridal shower on a Sunday. We had made reservations for 1pm. Plans changes and the restaurant was able to accommodate us at 11am with no problems. They had a great Mimosa special. $30 for champagne & OJ! Everyone ordered something different and not a single dislike. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was so attentive and even brought out a dessert for the bride to be. We also loved the decor of the restaurant.

Me and the wife enjoy when we come to eat at Bankers Hill. They have some drinks that will make your taste buds tingle. The food menu has something for everyone. The truffle fries are probably the best in town they are crisp and cook to perfection. I have tried various amount of food items on the menu and one that I love is chicken wiener schnitzel. It has a great taste and comes with a tasty side of mash potatoes and spinach that complemented well.

This place is very cool, nice rustic vibe and cool lighting, in the heart of San Diego. The service was very very good and we had a lovely attentive waiter. Food was very good, amazing burger, delicious meat loaf, yummy schnitzel, recommend all of them! Ribs were nice and so were meatballs. Truffle fries were a bit too strong for me, if you're a lover of truffle go for them, but they weren't to my liking, too rich. I didn't want desert and everyone else had desert and the nice waiter gave me a free cookie which was so lovely of him and so yummy. My brother said this is the best restaurant he's ever been to, thanks for a great evening!
Great food and delicious shortbread.
Nice local restaurant near downtown San Diego. Had the New York strip and they did a nice job. The shortbread cookies might just be the world's best.
