Hallelujah! GF FRIED OKRA!!! I haven't had fried okra in years and is one of the things I thought I would never have again in a restaurant! It tasted like "normal" okra and was not greasy. I learned about this restaurant in Delight GF magazine last year and kept it for our next visit to Atlanta GA. Our party of 12 consisted of people aged 3 to 68 and we all loved the food! We wish we could have tried the desserts but we were just too full! I asked if the okra was GF expecting a no but when she said yes I asked her to fill the whole table. They couldn't do that so I just had two servings. Darn! Our service was A+. I think between the 12 of us we ordered everything off the menu and were all sharing. Did I say I ate GF fried okra? Overall things were great but there were three disappointments. One, they did not have the GF beer I wanted to try (but Omission is great), the meatloaf recipe was very bland and on the dry side, and they were out of GF desserts and dinner just started. Oh, and I ate GF fried okra!! Everyone said they wanted to come back.

Great chicken fingers!

By Bob B |

We took the family there for dinner. Most had the chicken fingers, and no one was disappointed. Side dishes were very good also. Good bar selection. Excellent service.

spectacular Breakfast.

By SeanRafter |

Warm greeting, strong coffee, exqusite bacon, and a dreamy good black bean burrito made our Cinco de Mayo visit memorable! Chris was attentive to our every whim and desire. The food was wonderful, and farm fresh. Treat yourself to this delight. It will make your day!

Be prepared - Poor Service

By JuceRock L |

Well, after a long day at work my partner and I were in the area and decided to try this place as we were walking by to our car. We should have kept walking. Best thing about the visit... the sweet potato fries. Food was average. Service was almost nonexistent. Spacey and non caring best describe the waiter. Saw him twice; he took order and cleared plates fifteen minutes after we finished. No how's everything, can I get you anything, or would you like a refill of your drink. We had to track him down to get the check to pay and leave, only after three failed attempts to get the correct bill for our table order. Seriously BAD service...

Excellent Breakfast

By FrknHippie |

Stumbled on this place because of it's proximity to our hotel. Fairly expensive but the food was excellent! After much pondering over the menu--everything sounded so good--I had the Southern breakfast. I'm weird about eggs but my eggs were cooked just as ordered--everything on my plate was delicious especially the fried okra which I thought was really just a garnish--nope, it was the best I've had outside of my Memaw's cooking! Service was good and location was good, atmosphere was nice and welcoming. I'd love to try their chicken. We'd definitely visit again when in town!

3 of us went to lunch. 2 of us split 2 entrees. The Fried Chicken & Cheddar Waffle with the added homemade bourbon-pecan syrup and the California Club with side of grits. All was super tasty. Worth the road trip.

Saturday Afternoon Treat

Amazing and fascinating service! Great free parking with curbside service! The food menu is amazing with special features anytime of day!

Pleasantly and deliciously surprised!

By Karen L |

After spending $13 for a wrap with nothing but bread at one of the local magazine Outlets I was overjoyed to see good southern cooking in good Southern reasonable prices at Bantam and Biddy. Delicious all the way through everything cooked with lots of flavor chicken tenders are just that tender and real. I had the veggie plate and it was delightful more than enough for two people. On top of that the serving staff was very patient as we made our selections and pleasant throughout. They should be in every airport in the South and maybe even in the North as well.

Good quality food now available at Lenox Mall

By KeppyKap |

We enjoyed a tasty dinner tonight at the new Lenox Mall location - the quality and flavor of our food was excellent! The server was attentive as was the management. Nice to now have a great restaurant like this at the mall!

So-So Breakfast

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

I can only share about the breakfast side of this place, but on two occasions I have found the food to be just o.k. Very plain. Frankly I think Waffle House does a better job at half the price. They have a handy location at the Ansley Mall, with plenty of free parking, a pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff. O.k., I'll try something else and give it another shot.

Lunch with friends

By deb-e k |

This was my first time here and it was excellent. The service was top notch, thanks y'all! I got a salad with greens and other veggies and chicken. So very good!

I wish this restaurant was around the corner from my home in New York!

By garyp281 |

Casual dinner with friends: Charming interior, interesting menu, farm to table freshness: We both opted for the salmon with two side dishes: the salmon was succulent and tasty, the side dishes fresh, healthy and flavorful....The menu had many great selections - I'll have to get back to Atlanta to eat through it!! Bianna, our server, is delightful and was completely attentive.

Very good food

By StevenHScher |

My wife & I had lunch here for our first visit. I had a quarter roast chicken which came with a choice of 2 sides, mac & cheese & a side salad. It was pretty good. I did not care for the carrot ginger vinegrette dressing. My wife had the cobb salad. It was great, full or chicken, egg, avocado & lots of stuff. We will be returning here soon.

Quick healthy dinner

By Margaret W |

The name “Bantam & Biddy” always makes me think of two little old Southern ladies sitting on the front porch sipping sweet tea. Anyways, didn’t go there for sweet tea. In a desperate bid to delay my struggles with Friday evening Atlanta traffic, I snuck in for the veggie platter. I chose beets with goat cheese, broccoli cold slaw, fried Brussel sprouts- just because I’m on a Brussel sprouts kick (yummy) & sweet potato fries. Pretty good. Fast service. Especially loved the the fries and brussel sprouts.

Great Southern/comfort food

By Georgiapeach |

Love to go here for lunch or takeout for dinner. food is always delicious--southern food with a bit of gourmet. I super recommend the blackened chicken burger--it is very flavorful and is served on a jalapeño bun. Packed with spice and flavor. French fires, and mac and cheese are excellent sides. Highly recommend when you want great southern style food.

Good stick to your ribs, southern comfort food.

By arockefellerview |

Bright cozy corner, Ansley-Midtown neighborhood place with homey, southern comfort food, from rotisserie style chicken, yummy pork to real deal mac & cheese. Kind of pricey at $15ish a person for overall presentation at lunch, (before the gratuity, on so, so, service) but the food has always been good homestyle quality. Add another 4.50 each plus tax and tip (i.e.$6) for an ordinary cupcake that requires a trust fund, or the wisdom to know better.

Delightful and tasty

By Traveling Coach |

After a recent day trip with a client we needed a late lunch and chose Bantam & Biddy in Ansley Mall on Piedmont. I had eaten breakfast here before but never lunch. Glad we did on this day. My client had a lovely bowl of soup and I chose the homemade meatloaf with mac and cheese and okra. It was a delightful meal and the service was polite and efficient. Unless you live in the area you likely would not notice this establishment buried in a mall with lots of store fronts. However, if you want a tasty meal (especially breakfast) try this small but lovely place in Midtown. You'll be glad you did. Next time I am going to try the fried chicken and waffle.

Nice little place to satisfy your taste buds

By Tomeka M |

The server Brook was very courteous and attentive. The food was delicious, I had The Southern and everything was delicious, the bacon was thick and meaty. My husband had the Saturday night Vegas T-bone with extra seasoning, the baked potato was cooked to perfection, the spinach was amazing. I will definitely recommend this place. I also ordered the chicken salad wrap to go. The total was 73.22 not bad for all we had and the quality. It's a quaint little place pretty good vibe

Cute and tasty

By Tynisha A |

So this little spot is adorable and the food is filled with fresh ingredients. You can kinda tell that they are used to their regulars as they kinda look like who are you when you come in :-) I had the southern breakfast and my okra made me do the happy dance. Thumbs up.

This Place Would Be Great if Service Matched Food

By Rustin M |

I've been to Bantam & Biddy about 4 times, two of those being in the last two weeks. The ambiance of the place is low-key and minimalist, it almost makes you feel like you could be in a farmhouse. The place has always been clean and the food has been great so far. However, on this last visit, I had the WORST waiter ever. On my prior times, the wait staff had its quirks but they were all palatable because I just wrote them off as hipsters. However, the service I received from Orlando was HORRID! Myself and a friend visited this past Saturday around 7pm. The place was not busy at all so I couldn't chalk up his terrible service to a lack of help or being slammed. Let me first start by saying that he creeped me and my friend out when he came to the table. After being sat by the hostess and waiting for 10 minutes, he walked up to the table and stared at us; no greeting, no smile, just an awkward stare. After that 45 seconds of creepiness, I was the first to speak and said "hello". Still, I received no welcome, no daily specials, no list of items they were out of, nothing! We ordered and he did not write a single thing down. I am always nervous when this happens because there is room for error. I ordered a 1/4 chicken all white with Mac and Cheese and Spinach. I also ordered a Tequila based drink. He returned 10 minutes later to tell me that they couldn't make that drink because they did not have Agave. 10 minutes! I ordered a Bee Keeper instead. The food showed up immediately after and not to my surprise, it was wrong. I was given Kale Salad and Mashed Potatoes. I had to flag Orlando down several minutes later because he did not come over on his won to see if everything was OK. After explaining the issue, he took my plate without an apology or acknowledgement. As I waited for my new plate, I kept conversation going and drank my Bee Keeper. When Orlando returned with my plate, there still was no apology. He also did not see if I needed anything else. #1 my drink was empty and #2 when they remade the plate, my Piri Piri sauce was not replaced. I again had to flag Orlando down to get my sauce. STILL NO APOLOGY. Overall, the food and drinks at this place are great but that can only last but so long if paying guests have to endure subpar service. I myself am now very hesitant in going back or even recommending the place.

Good food, ambience, crowd level. Service times could be better

By ced140 |

The food and coffee were excellent, and I love the look of the place. Plus, we were there for Sunday morning brunch, but it wasn’t crazy crowded. Service times could be improved, though. It took a while for the server to come to our table and bring our food.

Good lunch spot

By ddmullis |

Located in Ansley mall this is a great spot for lunch. The layout allows for having a good business lunch. They offer lunch specials which ch are very health conscious and tasty My only complaint is the portion sizes are very small

Have visited several times - always very satisfied!

By ChipCoffey |

Bantam + Biddy is a cute little eatery located in Ansley Mall. The service is attentive and the food is quite good. I have visited with various friends and everyone has been pleased with the experience. One minor problem - Ansley Mall is generally VERY busy, so it is often quite difficult to find parking.

Seriously delicious

By Paul52Atlanta |

What do you get when you combine a talented chef who excels in creating delicious flavors with very fresh ingredients and a menu focused on good old comfort food? Bantam & Biddy. The rotisserie chicken is fantastic. The duck fat fries are as good as you'll get in a four star restaurant. The sauces are off the chart tasty. Even the pickled beets are the best you've ever had. And ... its not an arm and a leg (no pun intended).

Great bistro at Ansley Mall

By Jim M |

Great place at Ansley Mall in Midtown Atlanta. Great chicken tenders and wonderful sides like a watermellon. Great patio and great service. Need to check this place out if in Midtown Atlanta near Ansley Mall, you will not be sorry

Good enough, not crowded

By Ses943 |

Bantam + Biddy is located in the same shopping center as Pier One. B+B was fairly empty at 9:15 on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. I got the biscuit, which was good and bacon, that has a pepper crust and reminded me of beef jerky. The food was good but nothing that's going to change your life.

Left us Laughing...at how BAD the food was!

By taopiglet |

This is only the second time in over 50 reviews that I have given a 1 “star” rating…that should tell you how bad the food was here. We had been here one time before and the food/service was OK enough that we decided to come back. Big Mistake! Pretty much everything we had was bad to downright awful – we had to send one item back. I am surprised that a restaurant with Shaun Doty as the Executive Chef/Co-Owner is putting out such poor quality food. However, I should make mention that our server was pleasant/funny and responsive…but that could be because there were only 3 occupied tables…on a Saturday…at 8:00 pm…that should also tell you something. Here’s the rundown on what we had: Chipotle Hummus – It was completely dried out…not smooth at all. It was as if it had sat out all day. It was the consistency (and flavor) of the canned bean dip you get on the chip aisle at the grocery store. Overall, pretty flavorless which wasn’t helped by the overpowering crackers…half of which were broken crumbs. Fried Chicken Tenders – Also seemed like they had sat out for a while and also very dry. The Chicken Tenders you get at Publix are FAR SUPERIOR to these. Perhaps the chef should go compare the Publix Chicken Tenders to the poor quality tenders he is putting out. FYI…we actually did go to Publix right after we left to get some very tasty chicken since we didn’t eat much here. Blackened Chicken Burger – WOW! I cannot describe how incredibly AWFUL this tasted. It left a bad taste in your mouth that lingered for a while. Everyone at the table agreed that this was truly bad. This is the item we sent back after tasting it. Thankfully, they removed it from our bill. BBQ Pork (Special on Saturdays) – This was the better of the entrees…but that isn’t saying much. For $15, it was an incredibly small portion. And it was drowned in an overly sweet BBQ Sauce. Mashed Potatoes – The best thing we had all evening…sadly. Red Peas and Rice – another dried out item that seemed like it had sat out for hours…also flavorless. Mac and Cheese – just OK…nothing exciting. Coffee - Normally, coffee is just coffee...nothing I would review. However, the coffee here was so incredibly strong, we had to add about a third of a cup of water. I am guessing it had sat out all day. If someone orders coffee (even in the evening), please make a fresh pot. Side Salad – The only thing I have to say about this is it was served in the same cup that you get when you order a cup of soup. They could hardly fit any salad in it at all. Ironically, we asked for extra ranch when we ordered it…which was totally not needed. Important Note: They actually CHARGED US .50 CENTS for that extra ranch we ordered with the side salad. I was actually taken aback when I saw it on the bill. A little unbelievable…even the big chains don’t charge for extra dressing. What a petty rip off. I do have two positive things to say – One - On my last review I mentioned they needed to change out the ridiculously petite salt/pepper shakers they used to have. They have changed them out to a regular sized salt shaker and a pepper grinder. Kudos for that change. Two – We actually left here laughing. Unfortunately, we were laughing at how incredibly bad the food was.

For the Brunch Enthusiast!

By lilodashort1 |

Luckily one of our friends from the area recommended this place! It was delicious! Service was quick and efficient! Mimosas had the perfect OJ/Sparkling Wine ratio. If you are looking for a great brunch place... this is it!

fresh & delicious

By snowtraveler49 |

Our group (husband & wife in 50s + girls 16 & 12) visited 7/2/2015 for lunch before departing Atlanta where we had spent 5 nights on a mini vacation & college tour trip. We spotted the restaurant earlier in the week while shopping at the Lenox Square Mall attached to JW Marriott Buckhead hotel where we stayed. The restaurant is accessible from inside the mall, but is steps from two entrances from the parking lot near Macy's & Panera Bread & Cheesecake Factory. We ordered chicken tenders, fries, cheese biscuit, pimento cheese & veggies, salad, & sandwich. All were fresh & delicious. The pimento cheese & veggies were very attractively plated. The restaurant is small & all tables were tight & close. It was busy & loud but clean & attractive.

What?

By u-luv-me |

Really dissapointed in this place. When the best item on the menu is the chopped liver, it could spell trouble. The chopped liver on grilled baguette was good though. Everything else? Im not sure what this restaurant is trying to be. The spicy turnips had no flavor except cayenne. Meatloaf was bland. Rotisserie chicken was sort of gelatonous. Fries done in duck fat were soggy, and the fries that were used were not good. Mac and Cheese was average. They could have potential somewhere, but they are destroyiong some southern classics

Great business lunch spot in Midtown Atlanta

By SeatOfMyPntsTravelr |

I went here for lunch while in town with an Atlanta field local. The place has a nice, modern interior that enhances natural light. I ordered fried chicken and waffles and it was very good.

Wonderful Chicken and Vegetables

By jswflights |

Wow—this place was a fun surprise with outstanding gluten-free fried chicken and an array of wonderful vegetable dishes—brussel sprouts, broccoli slaw, sweet potato fries, salads, and fried green tomatoes. They have fun desserts as well.

Great food, relaxing atmosphere, friendly service

By AppleMade |

My family was visiting for spring break and we were staying down the street. This was a great restaurant, I would go there for any meal. I had salmon and my husband had chicken. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try. I would definitely recommend.

Nice location and good food.

By starter1 |

I have eaten here a couple times. The most recent time I would rate the food very good, the time before average. The most recent visit I had chicken pita with feta cheese and roasted brussel sprouts. The service was very good both times...the wait staff is very friendly. They have desserts, including a small display case as you walk in...they look good have not tried. They have patio seating as well.

So Good

By ExplorerTerra202 |

Delicious chicken and waffles. Superb cappuccino. Great service and ambiance. Would definitely recommend for brunch if you're in the area.

Amazing food!

By Barbara S |

We met my son and his partner here for lunch we are from Augusta and when we go to Atlanta we like to try different restaurants. The boys suggested this and we were not disappointed. I had the Royale with Cheese - fried chicken breast, pimento cheese, Patak bacon on a homemade biscuit ~ 😜so good. The sweet potato fries are amazing also. They have gluten free items on the menu also. Would definitely visit again.

Treat yourself!

By Cbento5 |

Literally heard about this place 10 minutes before I visited from 2young ladies who had just eaten here for the first time an hour before me. They mention how delicious their food was and I just had to try for myself. I was not disappointed! Beautiful presentation and tasted just as good. While I was there a family next to me kept uttering after every bit how delicious their meal was and that they will be back tomorrow. I just mentioned that to emphasize how much of a treat eating here would be. Enjoy!

Nice place, good service, small-ish portions

By Charles S |

I've been to the Avalon location about a half-dozen times, and will keep going back. The service is very good and the food quality & price is OK. Now comes the "However...". I've had only a few things at B&B, and I frequently get the lunch special, which is a quarter chicken with one side dish and a soft drink. My dissatisfaction is only with the portion served. A quarter chicken, the size of a Cornish game hen is not a proper serving/portion size for ten bucks. To end on a positive note, the $2 draft beer special (when they actually have it in stock) is an interesting way to try new draft beers. (At 12:15PM they did not have the $2 draft beer in stock, not sure why or how that could happen, but it did and they had no substitute). The french fries are good and the jalapeno biscuits are excellent. Buy bigger chickens!

Gluten Free but...

By Pamela W |

As a gluten-free diner, I made a point of visiting a Bantam and Biddy location while I was in town. I rarely get to eat bread of any kind, much less fried chicken! I made a special trip on a Sunday to be able to try the fried chicken and the jalapeno cornbread muffin. But frankly, they weren't worth the calories. I ended up pulling the breading off and just eating the chicken (which was flavorful, by the way), but only took one bite of the cornbread. Too dry. I also ordered Brussels sprouts that day. They were supposed to be roasted. Unfortunately they were more charred and extremely under cooked. As a regular cook of sprouts, it appeared to me that the cooking process was rushed. I didn't finish them either. On the upside, my fellow diner, who is not gluten-free, ordered a salad and enjoyed it very much. Maybe I just happened to catch them on an off day. However, I'm not sure I'll be back to give it another try.

Excellent Southern Style Lunch Spot

By Dave A |

Located near the Piedmont Park area in the Ansley Mall. If you like Southern down home cooking, you will like this restaurant. The Chicken Gumbo, Meat Loaf, Chicken Waffle are some of our favorites, plus all the typical sides you could ever want. Very highly recommended.

I'm done

By mikeloveshotels |

I don't know why I keep giving this place so many chances. I'll tell you why- because the food is good. I'm a sucker for good rotisserie chicken, and this place has the stuff. I have no issue with the kitchen. The issue I have is with the staff, which has gotten worse and worse. There is zero attention to detail and absolutely no service culture in this store. What a shame. We came in last night after a couple of less than stellar experiences. It was Wednesday at 830, so there were maybe 5 tables total. A ton of staff clowning around. You don't get a real friendly greeting. There was a manager and a new training manager as well, neither of which came to our table despite our order being wrong. We wanted to start with Poutine, one of our favorite things, but the server forgot to put it in. So not only on a dead night did they miss out on the check revenue of the Poutine, it also cost them a free dessert from the server trying to make up for his mistake. Inexcusable on a dead night. Like so many other employees there, he just wasn't paying attention. Neither is management.

Worth a second trip

By CUbeMan |

I have to tell you the first time I came to this place I was completely disappointed. But, they were brand new when I went. So after a buddy suggested it's gotten better I tried it again. This time I was happy with the meal. Wait staff was very friendly, parking is good, and there's plenty of people watching. Since it was after the holidays I tried my best to do healthy option, and they had a good selection. It's not anything overwhelming, but it's good food, good price, and convenient.

Good - but not as great as the hype

By LilGoBlue |

People rave about this place but I have to be honest, I have yet to be blown away. Especially at breakfast - I think it totally misses the mark for breakfast. The chicken is very good though! It's a great lunch spot.

Sooooo Good

By aliciawilson412 |

The best chicken sandwich I ever had. All the food was really fresh. For going out to eat, the prices was not bad either. I can't wait to go back!

Excellent Manager!!!

By MBSD2014 |

I had a very good vegetable plate here. Watermelon and Feta Salad, Spicy Collards, Jalepeno Cornbread and grits. The Manager, Farouk, made out trip much better. He gave us a glass of Proseco gratis after explaining they were out of the Chardonnay I ordered. He also gave my sister and I two cookies when he found out we were meeting for a shopping weekend. My sister's gluten free chicken tenders were the highlight of the meal!

I just keep going back

By oliverwash |

Great small place for any meal. I keep trying new things but the chicken is still a fave. Who doesn't love place with great food and a bar that rocks. Love their Moscow Mule. Indoor or outdoor dining options and everything from healthy eating to utter blow out fried things. People on another site which will remain nameless complain about high prices but I say if you want cheap eats, go over to Publix and get takeout. I think the value is very fair for the area.

Yes to pimento cheese

By ATLgirl |

I have eaten here a few times, and I am a fan of the pimento cheese as an appetizer and on the Royale with Cheese fried chicken biscuit. If you're not familiar with pimento cheese, it's a cheddar based spread and it's a Southern staple. The Royale is yummy, though it's impossible to eat as a sandwich because it's huge and the biscuit can't hold the chicken and pimento cheese. The shrimp and grits are great, but the meatloaf didn't live up to expectations. It's a good place to take kids (a side of mac and cheese is perfect for a toddler). There's ample parking though it can take a few laps to find a spot when the neighboring gym is busy. If you're looking for a meal on the way from the highway to or from the botanical garden, I recommend this place.

Lunch on a Summer Friday

By MarkButt |

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a great lunch here. For starters I would recommend the fried green tomatoes. For the main dish the chicken pita is excellent - includes high-quality yogurt and fresh dill. They also have very high quality white meat chicken. An excellent solid choice every time.

Great Lunch Spot

By Rebecca L |

This is a perfect casual spot for meeting someone for lunch in a hip area of Atlanta. The food is excellent - Southern of course and the prices are reasonable. During the weekday, they offer the "Business Lunch Plate" for $10.50. You get a choice of an entree, a side and a beverage so it's really reasonable. I had the Roast Chicken & Vegetable Stew which is a large portion and very hearty - great comfort food on the cold day I was there. For the side, I chose the Brussels sprouts which were great!!! My friend had the same entree with the collard greens.

Nice quick lunch with friend, good service and food

By Atlg8tor |

Met a friend for lunch and she had very limited time and worked nearby so we chose to try Bantam & Biddy. Our server Andrea did a great job explaining and taking care of us. I had the Blackened chicken burger ( I had it down between that and another dish and Andrea suggested that ). It was cooked properly and had great flavor. The side of crispy brussel spouts was ok, a little more seasoning would have helped but I took care of that. Good experience and would return.

Great lunch

By Lauren P |

I checked out the menu before and was so excited to see boiled peanuts. I havenr had them in forever. My dad and i stopped in for a quick lunch before the airport. He has the stew with a very gernerous sized yummy biscuit. I liked the chicken pita because it didnt have mayo. I will come back.

GF Heaven!

By NewToKnox |

One of the best GF meals I have had! So many yummy sides/mains that aren’t usually an option on GF menu, look forward to going back! Plus tasty cocktails!

Gluten Free Dreams

By Alexa J |

Felt amazing knowing that most of iteams on the menu we're gluten free, even their fried chicken. Would fully recommend eating here.

enjoyable late afternoon meal

By Frugal-Former-Teacher |

A friend and I recently dined at the Midtown location of Bantam & Biddy. We had a late lunch/early dinner meal. The service was quite good: we were neither rushed nor ignored. The waiter answered all of our questions. The meatloaf was tender and tasty. Instead of dessert (all of which looked great!), I treated myself to a regular coffee after the meal, and it was GOOD coffee! We are not often in Atlanta, but I would return here without hesitation if ever in the Midtown area.

Good food for brunch

By PeachBelle8288 |

We had the waffles and chicken with a side of bacon. The bourbon pecan syrup was delicious. It was way too much food for brunch so took some home. The waffle was not as light as I would have liked.

Southern cuisine, slow service

By Skymiles Davis |

Your mouth won't be disappointed if you eat at Bantam & Biddy. The southern-tinged menu offers up the classics, which are as amazing and artery-clogging as you remember. But if you arrive around lunchtime, be prepared to not see your waiter/waitress for long stretches. And good luck getting that sweet tea refilled! When I'm back in Atlanta, I'd consider Bantam & Biddy again, but probably only if it's not in the thick of mealtime.

Great Chicken

By Dennis B |

This restaurant is in a nice strip mall. It's a very casual atomsphere. Prices are reasonable and the service is good. Get any of the chicken dishes. Also, the duck fat fries are excellent.

Best cheese grits ever

By Texas005 |

Midtown location. Plenty of parking across street or in adjacent garage. Best cheese grits I have ever tasted x 2 - both people on our party thought so. Huge portions. Friendly waitstaff. Great breakfast spot. They serve traditional Thanksgiving meal often (maybe on Thursdays).

we did take-out

By ALFRED N |

overall, the take-out salads were very good. the place is right down the road from my son and daughter-in-law's home in virginia highlands. the take-out was helpful with two small kids at home. i must say the salads were much better than those i had from six-feet-under. the only issue was trying to call ahead to order. the gal answeing the phone was impossible to hear with the background noise. did it twice with the same results, no order given or understood. someone there should look into this issue.

Will never dine in one of their restaurants again...

By DoyleH63 |

I live across the street from Ansley Mall and have eaten at the restaurant there many times previously and had really great experiences, so I am frankly bewildered by how my friend and I were treated there about three weeks ago. Nobody should ever treat guests the way we were treated, and I was still fuming after dining there when I wrote this, even more than two hours after we departed the restaurant. I went to eat at Bantam & Biddy that day with a neighbor of mine who lives in my same complex. She lost her daughter recently, and my intent was to offer her some support and try and lift her spirits, but the circumstances under which we dined were anything but hospitable, and instead, weird and pointedly rude. I know why we were treated the way we were, but that in no way excuses it. My partner and I are both in the hospitality industry, which made what happened glaringly obvious to this hospitality industry veteran. There was a guy wearing dark rimmed, statement type of glasses, presumably a manger, who kept stopping by our table and hovering aggressively, without really saying anything to us, but rather just actively, aggressively imposing his presence, obviously trying to let us know we had worn out our welcome. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived at 11:30, but it filled up and started to empty somewhat during our 1 hour and 45 minutes at the table. This guy made it painfully obvious that he needed the table and that we were no longer welcome guests. I know what this looks like because I've seen servers and managers do it before--it's a tactic that is both rude and inhospitable, and, in my view, unacceptable. If this guy had paid an iota of attention to the actual PEOPLE occupying the table, he would have seen that my friend was very fragile and brimming with emotion, fighting back tears, actually, nearly the entire time we were there, but he couldn't have cared less. It was almost as if he were showing off, or that he had said to the server, "Watch this, I know how to get rid of them." I was utterly dumbfounded by the way he was acting! Under different circumstances, I would have confronted him, but was afraid doing so would be even more upsetting to my already upset friend--the last thing I wanted to do was add insult to injury in the state she was in... The periods of silence while this guys was clearly trying to "freeze us out" were extremely uncomfortable, and I tried to engage him a couple of times to no avail. He acted as if he didn't hear me when I told him we were finished with our food (there were plates still left on the table), and opted not to even clear the plates. Presumably the server was irritated too because my friend ordered a second cappuccino, and after waiting forever for it to arrive, my friend asked the hovering guy to ask our server to just put it in a to-go cup. He brought it out a couple of minutes later and only retrieved the to-go cup after she asked him directly. Like I said before the whole experience was just WEIRD, and bereft of any empathy for an obviously emotionally vulnerable person who has been through a very difficult time of late. There was not the slightest attempt to "read the table", but rather everything was geared toward moving the guests out the door asap. These guys were so transparent that it was not at all difficult to see what was transpiring, and clearly they were conspiring to "get the guests". At one point when this manager, or whatever he is, was hovering, I asked if he would ask our long absent server if I could get some change, as I wanted to tip him in cash (I personally left $5 on my $15 bill because of our extended stay, and because I always leave case because I know it helps the tip average.) I had to say it over and over, like three times, for him to acknowledge what I was asking and leave us in peace. Suffice it to say, if it had not been pouring down raining out we would have taken our conversation outside... I waited a while after leaving the restaurant to try and cool down before composing this, but instead, the longer I thought about it, the more enraged I became. I mean, if we had sat there for three hours, then maybe being treated in this manner would be more understandable, but I can only assume there is a culture problem in this restaurant given that we were only there 1 hour and 45 minutes, and that the shenanigans started about an hour in. The next time I decide to eat someplace close to home, I can assure you it will not be Bantam & Biddy--the place just left a very BAD taste in this diner's mouth. ): I reached out to the owner of the restaurant, Shaun Doty, and he was very nice and seemed concerned, asking me for details, etc. He also asked me if he could have the manager of the restaurant reach out to me for further information, and I agreed, but she never called, which was exactly what I expected. That tells me everything I need to know about the company itself--obviously, there IS a culture problem, and that is why they treat customers the way we were treated, and will continue to do so...

Service?

By YoungOpa |

It started badly when they seated our party right next to the restrooms. Since there were empty tables out front, we asked to move. Our waitress said it would be 5 to 10 minutes before they could set up a table....We went for brunch on Sunday and were quite disappointed by food and service. They offered and omlette with spinach and cheese, but they were out of spinach (really??) and would not allow a substitution. The attitude was as rough as any New York diner. Our food was OK at best, and we ate without exception shaking our heads at the lack of courtesy from our waitress. There are too many other good choices in the neighborhood to give this place another try.

Biscuits and gravy. Lord help!

By Jennifer P |

Went after work. Ordered biscuits and gravy along with chicken and waffles. The biscuits and gravy were to die for. The waffles were ok. We also had mimosas as they have a full bar even in the morning after work. Perfect. Sat outside with beautiful weather. Wait staff was also super.

"Meh"

By 1073BB |

Not having much time for lunch, I nipped into this much-ballyhooed restaurant on a Tuesday at noon. The place is basically a diner—the atmosphere and décor say so. But it isn’t every diner that caters to the affluent residents of Atlanta’s premier intown community (Ansley Park) or has two renowned chefs/restaurateurs at the helm, Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere. And it was the first time I ever encountered the term “pastured chicken.” Because every seat was taken, I slipped onto a stool at the counter and ordered iced tea. It arrived lemon-less. Really? I asked the friendly, willing, but obviously busy waiter for a slice and he distractedly reached under the counter and handed me one, then thought better of it and stuck it on the rim of my glass—which would not have been SO bad (I’m not the squeamish type) but his fingernails were dirty. Okay, so bantam and biddy stand for chicken, which appears virtually everywhere on the long organic-, wholesome-, and free-range-heavy menu. I perversely ordered meatloaf, one of three choices on the Business Plate that comes with a drink and a side for $9.95, and while I waited I watched a young lady knead a huge mound of dough, then cut it into rounds to make the most humongous biscuits I have ever seen. (Breakfast is served all day long.) I began to wish I’d ordered one of those. My meatloaf also arrived in a large mound, rather than the slice I had been expecting, topped with a tomato puree. It was flavorful but denser than most so I asked what the contents were. White Pastures grass-fed beef and turkey (what? no pedigree?), with a filler of crushed potato chips to render it gluten free. Ah-so! Poutine, a dish as anti-wholesome as it comes, is served here along with some 14 sides including duck fat fries and Anson Mill red peas and rice, which I had and thought were pretty good but not extraordinary. This place is the original B + B; there are three others around town. I probably won’t go back, though, as I thought my meal only so-so. Plus I’m already getting tired of correctly sourced staples, Wasabi honey, and chipotle hummus. To end on a positive note, though, the kraft-cardboard to-go box was recyclable.

Pricey with Ok Food with Decent Service

By ddmullis |

I recently took the opportunity to have breakfast at this restaurant. There was a single server for both the bar and tables. I ordered coffee which was very good along with a Western Omelet. It was served with wheat grits which I found to be so so and nothing quite as special as they made them sound on the menu. The taste of the omelet was pretty standard and nothing special. No bread was served with the meal and the cost with tax and tip was $16.00 for one person.

Truly Excellent Breakfast

By LuckySpivey |

We have tried many restaurants reviewed as “one of best breakfast in Atlanta,” and left thinking, “why?!” This restaurant deserves the title. Try the southern breakfast. It is delicious and creative.

Extensive menu, ok food, good location

By traveltrixie |

Visited here with several family members for Sunday lunch. Since our party was on the larger side, we had a 35 minute wait, and the manager worked very hard to keep us informed during that time. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. The menu is long with breakfast, brunch and lunch options. I settled with the chicken pita and a side of duck fat fries. The pita was overflowing with chicken, tomatoes and cucumbers, but it was absolutely drenched in the flavorless yogurt sauce. A little dill and black pepper added to the yogurt and half the serving would greatly improve the pita. The duck fat fries were ok. My husband had the meatloaf, which he described as pretty bland and more of a meatball than a slice. He was pleased with his crispy brussels sprouts. The rest of the party stated that the salads were good as well as the blackened chicken sandwich, The french toast plate leaves you hungry. Chicken is the staple of this restaurant, so I would get a dish with poultry if you plan on visiting. This restaurant isn't a bad option for the area but I don't plan on visiting again.

Loved the GF Options

By K A |

The GF options were excellent. Chicken and Waffles and sides were great. So glad we stopped here on our vacation.

Unique menu items

By jazzgran |

This somewhat small restaurant tucked into a strip center offers several "not your everyday" menu items. We stopped for a late lunch after running a 5k. My daughter who is gluten sensitive was delighted to see many GF items. We were very excited to see chopped chicken liver on the appetizer list. It was a little heavy on chunky bacon but otherwise very tasty. We asked to split a Cobb salad with chicken. It was served in a deep almost soup-like bowl which was strange. Many places will split the order before it comes to the table, which would have been easy enough because the salad was not the traditional striped version. Everything was just thrown in the bowl. The chicken was steamed and very tender. We were given two more of the deep bowls and divvied up our own portion. The orange ginger dressing was unusual but tasty. They had a $2 beer special (Sierra Nevada) and specials on mimosas & bloody mary's. Our waiter was a little slow with the beverages, and we asked that the chicken liver come out first but all the food came together. They did accommodate us with GF crackers to replace the toast that normally comes with the liver. All in all I think we would try the place again.

Gluten Free Chicken Tenders and Wings ! OMG!

By Jennifer P |

Every time I travel to Atlanta, which is about once a month, I make sure to find a way to get there at least once and they don't disappoint. Their chicken tenders are so good that they don't even need sauce. It comes with a wasabi honey, but I like the BBQ better or even without. I am obsessed and look forward to my visit for weeks. Coming to Lennox Mall is a so wonderful all right next to each other is a GF dream: Batum and Biddy & True Foods (right next door) both have many GF options and I can even get a GF Red Velvet from Sprinkles next door. I love it here!!

Thank you for surprising me!

By John Turner |

So yeah, we don’t normally get down to this area but a local said we should eat here. Our family of six piled into a back table and loved every minute. The kids got chicken Mac and Cheese, my wife got the veggie plate with some advice from Travis and I ordered the blackened chicken burger. Really, everything was great. My sandwich was tender and juicy and the quinoa spinach side was really nice. Thanks to Travis and his excellent service the overall experience was surprisingly good.

Gluten Free Pancakes

By Gerard H |

My wife got gluten free pancakes with berries and I got regular pancakes. Both were delicious and were more than enough food. Prices were a little high, but well worth it.

Asleep at the wheel

By lomnava |

I used to love B&B, but honestly, it hasn't been good for a few years now. The service is generally terrible (accuracy, delivery and sassy or indifferent attitude) and the food inconsistent and sometimes even mediocre. While the menu has some interesting southern staples (e.g., chicken and waffles) and quite reasonably priced, the execution is, at times, sloppy (NO, feta and chevre are NOT the same thing). The biscuits are still great (when served warm) and the desserts remain good though so overpriced as to be laughable. I would like to see this neighborhood spot reinvigorated to its former spunky fun self.

Interesting

By Evelyn F |

The menu is southern comfort with a twist and the ambience doesn't exist. It's noisy and crowded and probably would be best for take out. However, I'll go back again for the very good food and the warmth of he servers and fellow guests.

Food is consistently good, but...

By MrVell |

Food is consistently good, however, the service is always hit or miss. I've walked out, with a friend, due to lack of attention. Recently, at 1pm on a Thursday, it was like glacier speed. My beverage was forgotten, was charged twice for my beverage. The waitress was really sweet and friendly, but regardless who the server is, it's a crap shoot whether the service will be poor, average and good.

Promising

By frauduck |

Ate here after a visit to the Botanical Gardens which is right up the street. Though it's hard to tell from the street, the restaurant is in Ansley Mall. The menu is short with the addition of specials. I had the chicken pot pie, which was like a chicken stew with a large cheese biscuit on top. The stew was hearty and very meaty--just the thing on a grey winter day. The biscuit was good and not soggy at all. My husband had the chicken sausage which he enjoyed. We look forward to trying some of the other dishes in the future---maybe on the patio in nicer weather. The service was very friendly and helpful though not terribly efficient. I found out later that we came on one of the first nights they had table service. Before, it was all counter service. I'm sure they'll improve. Wine choices were decent but I may try a cocktail next time as they looked interesting coming from the bar. I can see us visiting regularly as we are often in this neighborhood with friends. Hope it thrives!

Best bacon ever!

By Donna S |

Today I visited the new Bantam & Biddy in Avalon. I ordered an omelet with goat cheese and spinach. Accompanied by creamy grits and an order of bacon. The omelet was good, however, the goat cheese was not spread throughout the omelet. You didn't get the yummy taste of the goat cheese with each bite, it was in a lump in the center of the omelet. The creamy grits were fabulous. They were exactly as advertised.......creamy. Just the right amount of spices to make it perfect. Now ...the bacon....Holy Cow was it great. They called it Patak bacon. It was a little bit spicy and cooked to perfection. I would order it for every meal no matter what I was eating! My wait person, Alexis, knew the answers to all of my questions, was personable and professional. I would definitely go there again, maybe when they have the bottomless Bloody Marys!

Chicken many ways

By SophieOakes |

As you can guess from the name, lots of chicken dishes. They are all good. This place is tucked away from the main part of Avalon and is therefore often less crowded. There is a small outside area which overlooks a parking lot but is a quiet respite and not usually crowded. The inside looks more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. This is place to go when you want to chat first, eat second. While the food is fine, it's not a place you'd really plan a night around.

What A Gem

By ConstantTravelerSE |

Unique menu, fresh options, great chicken, great waffles, and lots of gluten free options! This restaurant offers a wide range of dishes, all of them fantastic. Everyone in the family can find something they like!

We’re Comimg Back!

By Grace |

This is a great restaurant for comfort food and great coffee; gluten-free options! My friend and I went weekly for a year or two and hadn’t been back till these last couple of weeks. We are delighted with the new manager, Keith and noticed a difference in the attitude of the waitstaff immediately! What good is delicious food, great location and hospitality that is mediocrity! We’re back!

Clever and relatively inexpensive for the Lenox Square location

By NoCleverCreation |

A little chic-y diner with a modern approach inside the mall. My friend had a salad while I had the meatloaf, covered in tomato sauce, with cheesy mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, and a cheddar biscuit. The food quality was pretty good, but it was pretty looking more than anything else. Well done effort on atmosphere given the space constraints. Also had outdoor seating, which was less aesthetically pleasing given it was adjacent to the parking lot on the side of the mall. Our bill was around $26 before tip.

High quality food

By bethrad |

High quality food, and you will find a lot of your Southern favorites with a flair. Chicken with sides, you can't go wrong!

Horribel service!!

By MB80 |

Horribel service!! We came for the sunday menu, ordered and waited for 30 min before the waitor told us they were sold out. The waitor couldnt care less. We just sent Glutenfree options

Nice place!

By Josh S |

Enjoyed the modern southern theme. I had the chicken po' boy with Cajun aoili, it hit the spot after walking around for hours. My wife loved the braised Brussel sprouts. Would definitely return when visiting Atlanta again.

Three reasons to go here !

By triptraveller |

Three reasons to go to Bantam & Biddy: 1) The chicken is delicious. 2) The sides are home-made - with a great selection, 3) The prices are reasonable ! The location is a bit off-track in a mall near mid-town Atlanta - but it is worth searching out !

Quality Southern Restaurant with a Flare

By GeorgiaRed |

I have eaten at Bantam & Biddy a couple of times. The food has always been pretty good. It is an interesting mixture of rotisserie chicken, southern classics (like chicken and waffles and boiled peanuts), and more eclectic items. They source some of their ingredients locally which is great. The ambiance is OK, somewhat minimalist. The servers have always been nice. If you are looking for something familiar with a unique twist, give it a try.

First Visit!

By Kernesha |

I had the Fried Chicken and Cheddar Waffles, which costs $14.50. A friend recommend that we shared because it's a bit much for one person. I was skeptical at first because of the "cheddar" ingredient, but I'm so glad I chose this! The staff were very friendly and the place was clean. I can't wait to go back!

like the best Boston Market ever

By abbimj |

I think places like Boston Market popularized the take out chicken dinner that didn't seem as fast foodish as KFC, but it still was a huge corporation for food. Bantam & Biddy is a chicken dinner as it should be. Delicious chicken with creative and equally delicious sides.

Great restaurant hidden away in a strip mall

By ATrainVB |

I ate here on a Sunday and enjoyed their fried chicken special. I would venture to say it was the best fried chicken I've ever had. They also have bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys on Sundays. I didn't partake, so you can trust my review. Try it out, you won't be disappointing.

Refreshing & Heartfelt Service

By willie4413 |

I recently visited this cafe and was immediately impressed by the heartfelt service of my waiter Jason B! He offered me a fantastic spot in the restaurant close to an outlet that included a fantastic view. In addition, he greeted me with a warm smile and explained the daily specials which were yummy! ☆I will return to this café.

Breakfast treat on 4th of July

By Jame C |

After our indoor walk, due to rain, we tried this in mall restaurant and learned that it serves breakfast until 3PM. We chose the Western Omelet and an ala carte offering of two eggs toast and chicken sausage. Service was efficient but off if you wanted more time with the menu and getting the check required some effort. The Western Omelet was filled with grilled onions and red pepper along with grilled ham cubes and was of a light texture. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish and the cheddar cheese grits that came with it. My wife feasted on two perfectly fried eggs, wheat toast and a very large chicken sausage that was grilled and served in halves.

Great Menu, Wonderful Dining Experience

By BagLadyAtl |

We had lunch here after hearing rave reviews from friends. It didn't disappoint. The food was outstanding and the service matched it. Highly recommend.

Good food; HORRIBLE SERVICE!

By chase254 |

The food is good and they have a lot of gluten free options. But service is consistently A-W-F-U-L!!! We've been here before and keep thinking the service will improve but it never does. We're usually greeted with a bit of attitude after having to stand at the "wait here to be seated sign" and the. Once seated there's usually another 10-15 minutes before we ever are greeted by a server. We try to have our whole order ready when they finally do come in fear of never seeing them again. It's usually another 10 minutes before the drinks arrive, sometimes the food comes before the drinks. Tonight the drinks came and one meal, but the second meal did not arrive. After 7-8 minutes we flagged down another server to try and ask for our server to inquire about the other meal. To his credit, our server comped the late meal and offered a free dessert. This was nice since in the past no offer like this has been made. Overall the service is always off in some way. We keep hoping it will improve but that hope is fading...

Neat Place

By Thomas G |

At first I thought I was walking into Roaster's, then I got a closer look at the menu. Personally, I don't demand organic foods when I dine out, but these guys obviously take it very seriously and are serious about quality in general. A dish as simple as scrambled eggs with cheese, you know immediately you are eating a quality cheese. Their pork sandwich is outstanding and it goes without saying that their rotisserie chicken is done very well. They opened with order at the counter type service and have since gone to a sit down concept which was good to see! The staff is very friendly and service is very quick. They are a little on the pricey side, but you are getting what you pay for in higher quality ingredients. I've only been a couple of times but I look forward to further exploring their menu. What little I've seen so far has been impressive!

Great lunch

By Jim M |

I love Bantam and Biddy. It is a great place for lunch. You need to try the Royal. It is a chicken breast on a biscuit with bacon and cheese. So so good. Great service.

Great spot for a healthy lunch

By Burywood |

Had lunch here with colleagues. Speedy service and a great menu. Greek salad was excellent (with proper dried oregano like you get in Greece). Sandwiches look good with a wide range of healthy extras and sides.

A nice addition to the area

By revkate |

Shaun Dody has added a new restaurant in Midtown Atlanta. We ate there when it had only been open a couple of weeks. the food was good, nice balance of flavors and was good atmosphere for the whole range of family (from kids as young as 6 to 89 yr old neighbor). Especially worth trying are the grits, the black quinoa salad, adn the chicken salad. Food was fresh, filling and tasty, if a little more expensive than I would have liked.

Food and cocktails great, service so-so

By Emily R |

Great new spot in Ansley Mall for dine-in or take out. Focus is chicken dishes and a Southern flare, but there are veggies and a few other proteins on the menu. The classic rotisserie chicken is fantastic and comes with a choice of a few different, delicious sauces. Good beer list and awesome custom cocktail list. It's not fast food cheap, but definitely not expensive - I liken it to a Yeah! Burger of chicken; a great value. But not quick serve - you sit and they bring you food. The sides are always delicious as is the breakfast - they open 8am Saturday and Sunday and serve breakfast at least until Noon. I felt guilty ordering the chicken and waffles (a Southern classic) but the guilt went away with the first yummy bite. No fancy espresso drinks but you won't be disappointed with the coffee. With the exception of some excellent bartenders, the other staff I've encountered were just so-so. A couple have been less than excited about helping me, while those who are friendlier aren't so good at remembering to fill my water glass, for example. It's a new place so I'm sure they're just working through some kinks, and I look forward to that because it will make it an even more enjoyable experience. Nonetheless, the food is fantastic and a great option for kids, weeknights and even breakfast during the week. I also appreciate the Southern vibe of the decor, menu design and ingredients.

GREAT GLUTEN FREE

By Nanette P |

Being Celiac is not easy, but when you have a place like this, you forget that you are Celiac!!! Great food and Choices. Good Service I only wish they would have bread options. Everyone leaves the bread out????? Try Udis or your local Gluten Free Bakery Sally's.

Eat, and be eaten

By Diana p |

I ate lunch w/ 3 friends on the patio. 2 of them eat here fairly often. We were all underwhelmed by the very slow service and trash around the patio (see photos). Our server never did bring the lemons we requested for our iced tea. He apologized for the slow service and thanked us for our patience - which was only tested further by the incessant attack of biting insects. The roasted chicken was ok. The breast meat was a little dry, but the spinach and quinoa salad was very good. Bottom line is that there are many better dining options in the neighborhood. I would recommend putting Bantam & Biddy at the bottom of your list.

Passable - Avoid the Bar

By taopiglet |

The Service – We almost didn’t go here because of the reviews we had read about the bad service. However, our service/server turned out to be exceedingly good. We were sat immediately after walking in (despite being a Friday night). Our Server, Derriene, took very good care of us and even when she was busy with other tables, she would stop by and let us know she would be right back. She also had specific recommendations from the menu – which were all good. The Atmosphere – Casual atmosphere with an Open Kitchen. Weirdly, the salt and pepper shakers were those tiny shakers you get with Room Service at Hotels – the pepper wouldn’t even come out of the holes (you had to unscrew the top) – I would probably change these. Despite this being a Rotisserie Chicken place (with an Open Kitchen), the actual rotisserie was nowhere to be seen – you would think it would be facing out. Also, the font on the menu is way too SMALL – hard to read even with glasses. We are finding this to be common in a lot of restaurants – haven’t they heard of the “aging of America”? The Food – Rotisserie Chicken – It was good enough…the word that comes to mind with most everything we had is “passable”…not great and not bad, but just good. Chicken Fingers – Despite being Gluten Free, they were very crunchy…I think Bantam and Biddy definitely knows how to cook Gluten Free items. Alas, they were just passable though – if you have to eat gluten free, they are probably terrific, but compared to Chicken Fingers from other places, they are just OK (but don’t read that as bad). The sauce they came with (Wasabi Honey) was awful/nasty…had the consistency of Anti-Freeze – didn’t even cling to the chicken. Macaroni and Cheese – I try Mac and Cheese everywhere I go and just can’t seem to find really good Mac and Cheese. Here, it was above average – but not the nirvana I’ve been searching for. Red Beans and Rice – This was probably the standout…mostly because the Red Beans were more like Field Peas (small)…which I really liked. Collard Greens – a little bland…once again, passable with a little salt (from a tiny shaker). French Fries (fried in Duck Fat) – These were good, but the Duck Fat really didn’t do much for the actual flavor. We would order them again, but really just expect standard fries. Corn Bread – Dry The Sauces – Piri Piri – I really liked this sauce – it was completely gone by the end of the meal – spicy, but not overly so. Sweet Blue Ridge BBQ – tasted like standard bottled BBQ Sauce – nothing special – a little too sweet for our taste. The Bar – To be honest, we didn’t order anything from the bar and I am glad we didn’t. We were seated right across from the bartender/bar. The bartender poured the lightest drinks I have ever seen – he would carefully measure with a jigger (not even holding the jigger over the glass – so I doubt you even got a full jigger’s worth). You and I both know that most bartenders hold the jigger over the drink while measuring and over-pour at least a little (not here though). Oddly, he even measured (with the jigger) various mixers (never seen this before). Several of the drinks we saw him “pour” would barely have a ½ inch (or less) of alcohol, then he would literally overfill the glass with small ice – above the rim of the glass (a known technique for deceiving the patron into thinking they were getting more alcohol). I don’t know if the bartender is told to make drinks this way or if he was just not a good bartender. Would NEVER order drinks here. Conclusion – We will go back here – but not go out of our way. It was all good – passable- but really nothing memorable – other than the lousy bartender we observed.

Great addition to Ansley mall.

By Paul K |

Nice to have a good restaurant right in this shopping center. Duck fat fries are very good as well as the gravy used in the poutine. Sides are unusual and good but don't expect the Mac n cheese to be special or especially good. Chicken tenders and fried chicken are both strong, but not going to compete with JCT. the wasabi honey sauce tho is delicious. We will have to go back for the donut holes with chocolate sauce as well as the bottomless Bloody Mary sometime for brunch. It's a great space with good outdoor setting. Service was very pleasant tho a little disoriented.

Excellent clean eating

By meuhlig |

Food was fantastic. I had the salmon...super fresh, mustard dill sauce was delicious and the portions were perfect. Super cute atmosphere too.

Really good food!

By AtlantaGaMichele3 |

We stopped in for a quick meal while waiting for traffic to die down. I had the Ansley shrub which is fantastic. We had the deviled eggs and watermelon salad. the service was supper we sat outside and this is a very cute place loved the vibe and everything was good!

Worth the Wait

By toujoursparis1 |

This very popular spot was worth the 20 minute wait for amazing chicken. We had chicken with biscuit sandwich and a chicken poor boy, both excellent, but also saw the chicken and waffles that look pretty darned good. The chicken with biscuit sandwich had a nice, peppered bacon that was crisp and spicy. The creole mayonnaise added a nice dimension. The fries are fried in duck fat and crispy and delicious, especially the sweet potato fries. Service was nice, atmosphere friendly. They don't take reservations or call ahead - so head over early or be prepared to wait, but it's worth a bit of a wait.

Bottomless Mimosa & Bloody Mary!

By Drkriste |

Went for brunch and had Chicken & Waffles with bottomless Bloody Mary's! They service was friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is fun. It's a little tight which makes it crowded, but definitely worth visiting. The prices are reasonable. It was about $50 for 2 all-in. The Bloody Mary was spicy and plentiful.

Great food and great prcies

By Jeffrey C |

My wife has celiac so we always search for places that are GF friendly. Bantam and Biddy's chicken did not taste GF. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. Location is tucked in with plenty of street parking. IT is $2 an hour, on the side of the streets. The validate parking, but I didn't ask where. Would recommend to anyone.

Unique Concept

By queenofsqueeze |

I was glad to hear of a new place opening in Ansley Mall, and couldn't wait to try it. I like the concept, and the chicken was good. I was thrilled their menu offered a selection of veggies, but wish they weren't so fancied up. I am one of those (apparently) rare people who like the actual taste of lima beans and other vegetables even when they aren't disguised in some trendy sauce or spice. I've looked for years for a good "meat 'n three" kinda place in Atlanta and I had hoped Bantam & Biddy would be it. I'll still go back because the portions were big, the staff was fun and friendly, the prices were moderate and the location is great for me. Even though I love the concept and atmosphere, I'd prefer a little more basic home cooking for when I am neither home or cooking. I think it would be a bit more kid-friendly if the some of the sides and dishes were a bit more basic.

Great brunch!

By rossdmd |

Had an awesome bloody mary and the Royale with Cheese was great! Will definitely give them another visit when we are in the area.

A Delicious Discovery!

By Annalise K |

I'd read about Bantam and Biddy in an issue of Atlanta Magazine, rating it one of the best breakfasts in all of the city. It had been on my list for a couple of months, and I finally walked by (I live in the neighborhood) when I was hungry for their menu. If you're traveling, this is an exceptional choice if you happen to be in the Piedmont Park or Atlanta Botanical Gardens area. Ansley Mall is most certainly walkable from these destinations, and a quick drive with ample public (free) parking, as well. There is something on the menu for everyone, including vegan and vegetarians (and not just BORING options either, as I eat primarily veggie), despite it sounding like a chicken-only establishment. We had the chipotle hummus as an appetizer, which was beautiful with fresh veggies and plenty of portion size. My friend had the quarter chicken with mac and cheese and fries. The fries were piping hot and fresh, and the mac and cheese was okay, but not the kind of explosively delicious side you'd hope for in the south. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken pita, comprised of all white meat and a delicious blend of toppings including sunflower sprouts. The kale and wheatberry salad was my favorite surprise. Definitely check out their homemade sodas, too. We each tried and different flavor and loved them both. Finally, they have a great cocktail list, a well-rounded breakfast/brunch menu, and they do their food sourcing right. Plenty of fair trade options and eco-friendly to-go containers make me happy, too. Sustainability is important here, so you'll discover most of the meat is local(ish) and sustainably and humanely raised. This isn't entirely rare in Atlanta, but it's a concept that hasn't quite caught on an entirety. Lastly, their pastry case is exceptional, as well. We shared a caramel donut (YUM!), but the red velvet cupcakes and carrot cake were flying out of the case during our whole visit. The only thing that prevents me from giving this a five-star rating is that our service was a little lacking in efficiency. Our waitress was kind and knowledgeable, but she seemed to be working all over the restaurant and couldn't really focus on giving her section any consistent attention. We noticed it at other tables, too. It took almost 10 minutes to get our sodas made, and she took forever on a few things that would have been nice with the meal (when we asked). I tend to be lenient on service, as someone whose waited on her share of tables, but this wasn't a case of being overwhelmed or in the weeds - she was simply slow and didn't much care to pick it up. Overall, I plan on making this a regular haunt, as the menu is fresh, enticing, and the food is simply wonderful.

Just ok

Went with friends - ordered chicken fingers - the sauce that comes with was yuck to me. Chicken fingers were crispy but way too much crust. Had a side salad - the dressing I got with it I didn't care for. I asked for another dressing bc I didn't care for the balsamic and really liked their homemade ranch. When I got the bill, I was surprised and disappointed to see that I was charged for the "extra" dressing that was brought out. My friend was charged as well bc she also didn't care for the balsamic dressing. Felt this was not very good customer service.

Substantial, delicious breakfast

By Sabrina H |

Four of us came for breakfast on a Tuesday morning. Everything was delicious and portions were very large. I ordered the build your own biscuit with sausage, egg and cheese and a side of grits. While our service was very good, I will say I was skeptic when the server took our order without writing anything down. Sure enough, my biscuit came with chicken, and without cheese. This was easily fixed, but wouldn't it have been better to write the order down and get it right the first time? I also ordered a fresh juice which was delicious. The portions were substantial and I was so full that I did skip lunch that day.

Eh... Don't bother...

Locatedin Lenox Mall, we wanted to stop for a bit to eat after shopping. While my French Toast was fine (at $10, it should be), my daughter's meal was sub-par! She had the Chicken Biscuit with Cheese and Bacon. The biscuit was cold (couldn't it be warmed up a bit?) and was (hard and) huge compared to the chicken and pieces of greasy bacon and cheese. She had the duck-fat fries as a side - not crispy at all and really nothing great... The service was terrible and the place was not busy at all. Waits for service, check, etc. were very long and completely unnecessary when the restaurant was half empty! This restaurant just opened a few months ago. I think they have to work on their wait staff and improve their food! Our trip to the sister restaurant in Alpharetta's Avalon was a slight improvement, though Chik a Biddy in Atlantic Station is a better bet.

Modern comfort food

By SweetTea28204 |

I dropped in a couple weeks ago and had dinner at the bar. I had the "royale" sand which since I had seen it mentioned in reviews. It was a monster! Fried chicken, bacon, pimento cheese on two biscuits. It was very sloppy but delicious. I don't want to think of how many calories were in that thing. My side was watermelon feta salad...also delicious.

Dessert

OK so I'm vegetarian so I haven't eaten any real food there, but the gluten free chocolate peanut butter cookies are a major sugar rush. And the pumpkin bar was amazing.

Visited B+B at the ATL Airport Concourse C in the Connection

By seasonedtraveler1965 |

Hopefully this review makes it to the proper location. I truly enjoyed my food. I a rotissere chicken (1/2) Mac and Cheese and a Jalepeno Muffin. I only wish i could have eaten at a table vs. at a gate out of a tray. Also, hot food vs. room temperature, NOT there fault, it probably was hot but I was not able to eat before 25 mins after getting food. All food was excellent. The mac was a little greasy, but that is southern cooking. This was the best meal i had over the 2 days in ATL. I will try the restaurant outside of the airport next time I am in ATL, I was impressed.

Great new spot

Upper scale meat and 3 place. Reasonably priced fancy cocktails. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu that has chicken. Great new addition to the area. Would recommend to anyone for a easy delicious weeknight spot.

Never got to eat :(

By jetairbear |

So this place has been open for a while now -Ansley Mall Location - My partner and I had been wanting to give it a try having never eaten here....we were excited to try it out one night and so we did.... We entered and were greeted by a really attractive young man - with much attitude - we were greeted with "how many" and " it's gonna be a minute" - ok....at the time of day we arrived there were only a handful of other guests there....but -ok- we have no problem waiting. He busied himself with other duties - then looked up and took us to a table, mentioned the name of our server and left - so all of this I can overlook - because I'm excited to try some of the food items on the menu - my partner is a Chef and owns a local catering company and was also looking forward to trying some of the food items. In the minutes that would pass the gentlemen that would be our server never acknowledged us, and continued to handle the one table where he currently had guests seated - meanwhile the young "attitude" that seated us continued to seat others in an area where he appeared to be serving and brought waters, bebverages, and managed to take an order .....all the while we sat.....I motioned for our server who just looked at me, never acknowledged.....so not feeling very Welcomed - after about 15 minutes - we left.....this area is my community and I love to support locally owned business - but this one kinda hurt - The last thing anyone wants when coming to spend your own money is an attitude and to be ignored. - Good Luck! From the other reviews sounds like there is good food here.

Great service and food

Went here with a groom party the morning of the wedding. The server was very friendly and handled the obnoxiousness of our party very well. The food was excellent and the entire table agreed.

Average breakfast, no gluten-free menu

We had several different breakfast dishes. None were remarkable. The food was standard breakfast fare and average quality. Service was fine.

Nice lunch here last week

By Tracy H |

I had lunch here last week with family, we were seated quickly and drink orders taken. Drinks arrived after a few minutes and orders were placed for food. Food took a while to arrive but was fresh and hot. Portion sizes were pretty small on all 3 plates and the food was universally considered bland. Drinks were refilled after pushing empty glasses to the front of the table. I doubt we will return, there are too many other better options nearby.

Sad to say it was awful on Labor Day.........

By southtripper |

Dinner last night was a joke.. our wait person did not begin to know how to do her job or perhaps she simply did not care ... the place was not crowded but we were ignored at first then she seemed unable to take or orders without mistakes .. the food we got was very uneven some good some pretty bad... there does not seem to be any attention to detail... some of the things we were served were stale..it was just disappointing ... I like the name and the the t-shirts the staff wear are cute but I will not be going back

Clover’s excellent, fun service made the meal!

By Barb |

Good food. Not great, but good. Lots of options and gf is good for everyone! Food came out so fast it was clear it wasn’t cooked to order. Great collard greens and fried okra. The rest was ok. Best parts of the meal were Clover’s service and the Lavender Blueberry Bliss cocktail.

Impolite waiters, bad food

By Katalin M |

Chicken is not tasty at all, waiters are not smiling, poured soup on my skirt, but it didn't disturb him. I don't propose this place to anyone.

Breakfast Burger!

By SandBAtlanta |

It was Saturday morning and I was looking for a new place to try for breakfast. Luckily I found the Bantam & Biddy breakfast menu and started reading it out loud to S. Breakfast burger: Riverview Farms pork sausage, bacon, pimento cheese and a fried egg on jalapeno cheese bread. OK, that's like my 4 favorite food groups. With zero hesitation we hopped in the car and headed over to Ansley Mall. The parking lot was packed with dudes working out at the nearby gym, but make your way past the muscles and gaze into the Bantam and Biddy display case that is filled with Sublime donuts. Our server was a ray of sunshine - cute little thing - who monitored our coffee situation with a keen eye. She was very helpful, fast and friendly. In addition to a Sublime donut and a breakfast burger, we also ordered a "make your own biscuit" and filled it with eggs, bacon and pimento cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. So yeah, it's good and yeah, we'll back! Who knows, maybe next time we'll even try some of that yardbird!

Lots of gluten free options

By luv4phood |

We recently visited this restaurant because we were eating with a gluten free friend. We were surprised to find so many gluten free options, including fried chicken. Our friend was thrilled. And, we were thrilled that taste did not suffer due to the the gluten free menu. For those not sticking to a gluten free diet, try the Royale with Cheese, it's a tasty trifecta with fried chicken, pimento cheese and bacon all on a biscuit. Can't go wrong!!

Delicious fried chicken

By awookk |

I didn't eat breakfast or lunch at work I was hungry. I arrived at the destination and I looked at the menu. I got the fried chicken sandwich with fries. I ate the fries in my car on the way home. I also got the chicken and waffle with butter and syrup. It was 3 tenders with a delicious waffle. I like the area there are a lot of different stores. I seen some beautiful women in this area.

Interesting menu items and options

By ECS4me |

We'd heard great reviews, so perhaps our expectations were too high when we were there for brunch. The Western omelet I ordered came with a side of salsa verde. The salsa was a good idea. It gave an otherwise very average omelet some extra zip. My companion ordered three sides for his meal, because many of the breakfast entrees are prepared with cheeses, and he's not a cheese person. His choices were okay, but not noteworthy. Good coffee (strong) and attentive service. Clean, funky venue. The check for three was $45.00, which seemed on the high side for brunch without alcohol. (It was Sunday mid-morning, and they could not serve a Bloody Mary until noon.)

Great food but terrible service

By CubanPete16 |

Super slow service all around. Bathrooms not clean with no soap and towels in both. Someone needs to get this prime location in order bc the food is really good. Really disappointed w this being my first visit.

Delicious Chicken

By Katina A |

Tired of boring dry chicken for dinner? I grab Bantam on the way home for a super delicious and moist chicken dinner. Each person gets their own sides and sauces too. An for those too hungry to wait for dinner - get the boiled peanuts as a tasty appetizer.

Fantastic Food Paradise!

By willie4413 |

I recently visited this cafe and was immediately impressed with the environment; staff; prices and atmosphere. I had a caring and handsome waiter named Jason! He was nice and offered to share the daily specials which were yummy! I ordered the honey chicken and it was delicious! Wow! What a combo a nice meal and an handsome waiter equals a heavily paradise! I will return!

A further piece of ATL's midtown upswing

By jovoyvanair |

Bantam and Biddy is symptomatic of Midtown's growing maturity - as it becomes a green, friendlly, liveable, urbane part of Atlanta. Hazard a guess - but was this inspired by Wichita's "Town & Country" - comfortable leather bench seats. A neat concept - well done "home cooking" - with hi-grade espresso coffee, quality freshly squeezed juices, a menu with a healthy angle, and professional service staff. Am sure this concept will take off and it will get rolled out to Buckhead, other ATL neighborhoods and a wider SE - such is its potential. A big recommendation for this new entrant - a modern take on down home. "Go get some".

Nothing to write home about ....

By rbailey66 |

Dinner for two, had two fried chicken sandwich with fries, cup of soup and deviled egg appetizer. No cocktails, just soft drinks. Best part was the duck fat fries, everything else was so so. Seated promptly, orders taken, no problem. Appetizers came with main course. Server didn't even ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. When asked if we would like dessert, the "No Thanks" was immediately presented with the bill, like they were rushing to get out - even though it was only 8pm. Very pricey for what we got, we scratched this place off our list.

Gluten free options

By MissOwlAtl |

Recently my mom was put on a gluten free diet. Seeing the amount of GF options on the Bantam + Biddy menu was a breath of fresh air for my mom who has been searching for "more than just salads to eat or food that isn't just blah." The fried chicken tenders were awesome! If I didn't see GF next to them I never would have known they were GF. The Mac and cheese was a little bland for my taste, but everything else I tried was pretty darn good and impressive for being gluten free. The deserts looked delicious, however I was far too full to try any. The only real "complaint" is that they only have one GF option for desert. My hope is that soon they will have more GF deserts available. Thanks Bantam + Biddy for the delicious GF food!

Perfect Brunch Spot

Wandered in by myself and was seated promptly. Enjoyed a leisurely brunch. Make sure you order the chicken tenders with wasabi honey.

Could easily be five stars

By Barefootsphynx |

I reluctantly gave this place a four-star rating and here's why: Hostess was clueless as to seating our party of three. Had to charm and suggest we reconfigure some tables. The reason we could not be seated was someone was lingering forever with a computer. All you have to do in that instance is keep asking them if they need anything and they won't' be able to work and get the message to leave already. Someone else said the restrooms are horrible and I wouldn't doubt it but didn't see for myself. Now to the awesome part ... the food. Heavenly. So fresh and flavorful. Fresh poultry really made a difference. I threw caution to the wind and ordered the most adventurous thing on the menu ... broccoli jalapeno cole slaw. Sounds awful but boy was it good. And who knew wasabi and chicken tenders went together so well? Everything on the menu is creative and fresh as I tried my group's entrees too. I plan to go back, just know it's a little shaky with the service and management, as some of the local businesses tend to be. Don't let that deter you from a great meal!

Had higher expectations

By Shiv G |

I read about this place and heard great reviews. It was a disappointment. The chicken was okay. The fries weren't bad but not spectacular. Service was great, though. Probably wont go back although location is convenient.

Chicken and Waffles

By Richard R |

Came for a short trip to visit a friend who lives up the road. Relaxed service (not slow but not rushed either). Food was great nice patio to sit on. Hung out after being done and did not feel rushed to leave to make room for other diners. Good experience overall

The Best Chicken and Waffles

Not only were the waffles light and fluffy, they have cheese and bacon in them!!!! Top it off with bourbon/pecan syrup!!!! Service was great to cap off the meal.

GO HERE!

By CuldesacKid90 |

This was our first stop in ATL. I had some kind of fried chicken with pimento cheese and bacon on a biscuit...AMAZING!! I didn't even want to share with my BF who ordered the chicken soup...DELICIOUS!! Dont fall for the duck fat fries tho...they're just regular fries. We will be going back here next visit.

Not Worth the Money; Move On...

By DebbieAYB |

Located in Concourse C... For the price, the food is terrible! Save 1/2 your money and walk a few steps to the Chick-fil-A. You'll be a lot more satisfied. At Bantam+Buddy, the servers are rude, the food is either tasteless, dried or too salty. I got the salmon cake and eggs, both of which were dried and tasteless, and the potatoes which were hard and tasteless. The sausage and biscuit which I also got was hard and way too salty. The people working there could care less about customer service. I would definitely not recommend this place.

Already time for something new

By Griff72 |

Every once in a while you leave a restaurant hoping it will go away quickly so that someone who wants to own a restaurant can open in its place. Unfortunately my trip to B&B last evening left me with that hope. It's not that the food was bad nor was it all that spectacular. It was more the lack of attention to detail and the overall atmosphere that had me questioning how anyone would voluntarily go back and spend money on overpriced dishes. We started with the "poutine" so I guess I'll start there as well. It was fine, not poutine, but fine. The gravy was not nearly thick enough nor plentiful and the cheese was actual cheese and not curds. I'm sure one could import curds from Wisconsin but B&B decided to use what seemed to be a flavorless mozzerella. We also tried the chicken tenders which were ok but certainly not worth over $2/each ($6.50 for 3). The breading was a bit too moist and the chicken very dry. Next up the fried chicken. At least that's what we ordered but it seems they somehow ran out of the special by 6:10 in the evening. Perhaps it's special because there is only one order for the whole day? Oh, and on fried chicken night there is no "daily soup selection". Sadly they also ran out of the watermelon salad that we had very much wanted to try. So we ended up with pork schnitzel which was actually good if you ate just the fried pork cutlet. For some reason they decided to top the schnitzel with peanuts and near raw onion. I could get past the onion if it were thinly sliced but no these are rings that obviously made a detour from the onion ring plant to land upon our schnitzel. Not to be too traditionalist here but considering this is a German dish, it really should be paired with a nice thick (the type missing from the poutine) gravy. On the plus side the macaroni and cheese side which we paid $3.50 for was pretty good. That said the server should have told us we'd be charged for the "extra" side as the schnitzel only comes with one whereas the fried chicken we had ordered came with two. Of course the schnitzel also was to come with some sort of cheese bread but ours did not. Then there is dessert! Dessert always redeems a restaurant, right? Well, it might have had the server thought to ask us if we wanted to desstert. Apparently we had occupied the table too long and it was time for us to get the bill and go. I never enjoy leaving a small tip but it was obvious our server was complicit in the plan to bilk unsuspecting Atlanta diners out of their hard earned cash as quickly as possible. I can only hope my fellow citizens of Atlanta help this place quickly close so that someone with a passion for the restaurant business can open something ten times better.
