Oh the Dim Sum is so so good. You will be in heaven. I love this place. Parking is a bear, so you must valet, which I never like, but I will do it to eat at Bao. All of the food is great. They also have a full bar and the bartender is super nice. The service is great. Now, if you don't have a reservation you are going to be waiting a long time, so make one. You can do it by phone or, I think, on line. Once you get there with your reservation you will still have a short wait. The place is just adorable and from the Dim Sum to the sweets, it is all great. Enjoy.

Hadn't been here for a while and friend suggested it. Glad to go back. Recommend: Xio long bao, mushroom dumplings, shrimp & pork dumplings, radish cake and sesame balls for dessert. Nice cocktail selections too.

The restaurant is in a great location, the service is outstanding and the food is excellent! Prices may be the best value for dinner anywhere in LA

I was new to this type of restaurant, so my daughter in law ordered for me. She did me right. I had the shrimp chow lo fun, and it was great. We also had the shrimp and crab balls and they were great as well

The items here for dim sum were excellently prepared by the kitchen (a little pricey, but good) but the service was awful. We arrived on the late end -- there were only two other tables being served at that point. But rather than tell us the kitchen was closed, we were seated, given menus and told to hurry up! and order. Given it had taken us a while to find the place, and we had already paid for parking,,,,we quickly scanned the menu and ordered. The wait staff continued to be rude -- nearly slamming down tea and dishes. They were turnt we were on the late side I guess -- but if we had been told they were closed we would have left. Will not go back. Too many other good dim sum places in LA

Undoubtedly the worst dim sum and possible the most disgusting dining experience. The dumplings were oversized and fell apart. Ordered many dishes that ranged from disgusting (unrecognizable meat) to below average. Unhygienic, poor performance--should be shut down.

I've been to Bao a number of times and always had a good meal in part due to a waiter (same one every visit) who really knew the menu and guided us to the highlights. The food always tasted sparkling fresh and was invariably piping hot. This visit was different in a lot of ways, none of them good. Our waiter was inattentive and his recommendations were always "XX is very popular." While what I wanted to know what he thought was great, the hidden gems. The food was hit or miss and were just bad (pea shoots and the lo mein). I will probably give the restaurant another chance, but unless it shines I think it's time for the hip dim sum crowd to move on.

Bao Dim Sum is my kind of restaurant. Valet parking!!!!! wonderful food and service. Our bill was around $100 for the four of us and we ate and drank. Happy hour has great deals on both food and drink. We are going back zoo.

This place is great for westernized dim sum, made to order. All of the dishes are reasonably priced, most $4.50-$7, and all very tasty. My husband and I had the juicy pork dumplings, chicken shumai, baked pork buns, and steamed asian broccoli. The dishes all came out in a random order, so it was fun to sample as they arrived. The servers were very nice, and very accommodating. I'd definitely recommend if you're in the mood.

My gold standard for dim sum is Yank Sing in SF. I've tried most of the dim sum in LA and San Gabriel valley and they are very similar- a cut way below Yank Sing. Bao is as close as I've found in Southern California to exceptional dim sum. Quality is high, portions are generous, selection is really adequate (not like the San Gabriel dim sum houses but I don't eat chicken feet and fish eyeballs so....) Clean, easy to order, no flagging down carts with rude servers who don't want to understand English. All in all a great experience. A little pricier than the competition but well worth it for the quality, service, convenience and location. Can't wait to go back.

Stopped in here for a fast lunch I have to say I was impressed with lunch specials, the dumplings are huge. Good is fast and fresh. I will be back!

We went to Bao Dim Sum on a Saturday mid-morning; we were planning on going to China Town, but an accident on the freeway had crazy backed-up traffic...the restaurant was a small, neighborhood place with a hipster feel...parking was available on the side street in the neighboring multi-plexes. Overall, average experience with average flavors - especially for the pricing...there are NO DIM SUM CARTS patrolling the floor, you order all of your dim sum then it is brought from the kitchen. We missed the classic dim-sum experience. If you do not want to travel the extra 20-30 minutes, this is an OK place...but if you have the time, just go to China Town for the real deal. Dan's Travel Tip: The Pork & Shrimp Shumai was our favorite. Safe Travels...Aloha!

It's nice to have dim sum available all day, and they mostly produce great dishes. I loved the Radish Cake with Chinese Sausage, Spicy Shrimp Dumpling and Vegetable Spring Roll. They struck out on the Crispy Crab and Shrimp Ball, which was delicious, but had tough, overcooked shrimp. Decent cocktail and wine list, and friendly service.

Atmosphere was okay, very disappointed in food...small portions, some not prepared well, some taste were definitely off

Very good quality food, much better than Chinatown. Priced accordingly. Just not as much variety. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere, much better than Chinatown. More relaxed and quieter than Chinatown too. For my family, the location is much better too. The only drawback is the service can be a little hit and miss, especially when they're crowded.

Pork dumplings. Pork rice. You have to have both. I know it sounds redundant, but it is marvelous. This is the first time we have done this, we love Bao, and have been several times now, and now we are addicted. All of the food is great, but the pork, just oh my goodness. Now, make a reservation or you will be waiting. The service is great. They have a full bar and a happy hour, but we did not sit at the bar at all. The parking is valet. The shrimp dumplings and shrimp spring rolls are mighty tasty and there is something for the whole family there. My grandson loves the place and it is kid friendly, although I never see many children. Save room for desert and have a great time.

We had a great time (6 of us) sharing a wide variety of Dim Sum dishes for dinner last week at Bao. The restaurant is lively and well run and I'm sure it will continue to grow in popularity so make sure you make a reservation. Since we are from NYC and have eaten Dim Sum for years in NY Chinatown, we are really appreciative of finding a high quality Dim Sum source on the West Coast and this is definitely the best in So Cal. They have all of the traditional Dim Sum specialties plus there are actually a few Japanese dishes like Shumai that have made it on the menu. You can easily put a meal together (sald, meat and seafood Dim Sum, and dessert Bao (steamed or baked buns) The sharing is fun and gives you a chance to sample lots of the options.

nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and very busy on a Friday nite...maybe it's because it's the only dim sum restaurant in this part of the city...but I've had Much Better dim sum in Chinatown...this food had zero flavor, totally bland. when sticky rice dish is the best thing you've ordered, you know it's time to find something truly authentic

We ran into BAO while walking from our hotel to a nearby shopping mall. It was a very pleasant surprise. A very friendly local couple told us while we waited that BAO was good and they were right. Vegetarian chow mein and spring roll were perfect. Price was very reasonable.

Took my Mother In Law out for her birthday dinner and we always look for different types of restaurants. Bao Dim Sum House fit the bill. We made reservations far in advance and our table was ready when we arrived. This place is not fancy, but was nicely appointed. We have eaten Dim Sum at the Empress in China Town and various places in Monterey Park, so we know what we like. Everything here was delicious. The Crispy Scallion Pancake was something we were looking forward to because you normally don't see that on the West Coast - very good! We also enjoyed the Crystal Shrimp Dumpling and the Chicken Shumai as well as the Chinese Brocoli with Oyster Sauce and the Crab Fried Rice. We did order a bottle of Pinot Grigio that went well with the dinner. The waiters were attentive and friendly and helpful in choosing our dishes.

While visiting L.A. I enjoyed my first experience with a Dim Sum meal, a style of Chinese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. We ordered 5 separate items from the menu each containing 3 -4 pieces of each item and it was more than enough food for the two of us. We left feeling very full and satisfied. The vegetable Spring Rolls were crispy and flaky and stuffed with ingredients unlike some restaurant spring rolls that are mostly crust. The Steamed BBQ Pork Buns were a light, spongy pork filled bun. My only complaint about these if I must find a negative point is that the filling wasn't over the top and I would have preferred a bit more meat to bun ratio. The Dim Sum Chicken Potsticker was a solid piece of food giving significant substance to the meal. The Dim Sum, Wu Kok (Fried Taro) was by far my favorite. Light, airy, crispy, flaky with a crust and filling that was sweet. Reasonably priced for the Beverly Hills neighborhood that it is in and compared to other restaurants of its type in the area. The restaurant offers valet parking out in front however, we went around 2PM and there was ample parking on the street at meters (which do take credit cards) The waitress was prompt and efficient keeping our glasses filled at all times. I am looking forward to returning soon.

Bao Dim Sum is a great place for, lunch, dinner or Sunday Brunch. There's a wide selection of delicious small plates so you can enjoy a wide variety of things. The food is all fresh and the service is warm, friendly and efficient. We always ask to have T.C. serve us, he is wonderful. They have valet parking so that isn't an issue.

We were craving dim sum but didn't want to go all the way to San Gabriel. Bao will do. Dumplings oddly large but good. Selection decent. Service friendly and fast. Overall good experience. Not amazing but will definitely return.

I gave the restaurant an excellent rating for the food alone, the decor was nice but the lighting was a bit on the darkside. However the portions are small but the prices are not! A family dinner for four would cost you an arm and three legs :-(

This is an authentic Chinese Dim Sum restaurant with good variety of food and good quality. We enjoyed each dish we ordered. You can't go wrong with any dish.

So nice to have a good dim sum place so close. Good variety, quality is always consistent, a bit pricey for dim sum but it's because of their location.

The food is great! Highly recommended, all of the Dimsums, dumplings and buns that we had were amazing! The chow mein is very tasty also. They have a happy hour from 4 to 7 where they offer some dishes/drinks for a cheaper price. The service is not the best and they charge you 20% tip.

This place had great service, great food, and a cool atmosphere. It was a bit pricey for Dim Sum and as a vacationer I would have found it much more convenient and interesting if it was in China Town.

3 to 4 items per person. Steam pork buns and calamari sticks a must. We ordered the chicken and pork potstickers which were amazing - nutty, not overly garlicked/onioned. The spinach really blended well in the dish. Fish cakes my bf liked, they were meh to me but I'm not a fish person so take that with a grain of salt. Mushroom dumplings were a bit too spicy for my palate but good. We had a small BBQ pork dim sum that was ok. Honey walnut shrimp was good. Wish we could have tried more but we over ordered as it was. Ambiance is very nice. Service is extremely quick, very polite, and very good about making sure you have what you need/want and are comfortable. Happy hour pricing can't be beat, draft Sapporo for $2 plus dim sum is cheap cheap. For our entire order it was around $40 which we felt to be really cheap! Conclusion: Tasty, dependable restaurant that I look forward to returning too and would recommend to all.

Drove over an hour to visit Bao Dim Sum for Sunday Brunch. Having lived in SF and eaten in San Diego Dim Sum houses, let alone as well as London and China, we were a bit leary of the YELP reviews, but what the heck. The wait staff was attentive, but we first noted that there were no carts. We looked over the menu and odered 3 plates for each of us (3 dinners). The first problem was that the kitchen started sending out the wrong plates (we ordered the pork and spinich dumpling, they delivered the chicken bumpling; we order the scallop dumpling, they deliveded the scallop tofu instead). OK, we get past the order mix up, only to find the pork bao very bready, small portion of meat, and that was well over salted. OK, the salt, pepper, and chili calamari was very good, but this was followed by the chinese pickels in chili oil (only 1 of use could eat this), followed by the juicy pork bun, which was very good. The baby bok choi was good, but when the scallop dumpling arrived, it was so over cooked, it was like eating a rubber eraser. We left this on the plate as well. The price was over $75 and this included no alcoholic bev's. We will not be going back to Bao Dim Sum again and will drive to Baldwin Park area instead.

The service was good and the food was good. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and there is plenty of seating space including a separate side area that looks like it could be used for large parties.

What is this complaining about no carts? Walk right in (preferably at an off hour like late afternoon), order a known cocktail or some over the top Hollywood concoction (as in, don't) and place orders of dim sum. We had shrimp soup (only okay) for the table, scallion pancakes, vegetable dumplings, Chinese broccoli and oyster sauce to start. Then on to other dumplings and the incredible shrimp snowball, which takes a little longer. Shrimp is firm and flavorful here in all the dishes. We finished up for dessert with several orders of sesame seed balls, which my husband proclaimed the best ever -- even at authentic Chinese restaurants. People in West L.A. will like the decor.

We had chicken wings, house chowmein, bbq bun, green beans- everything was delicious 😋 Pro - good food, great ambiance Con - small quantity, expensive

Loved everything about this restaurant. Food was fresh and tasted terrific. Lots of choices. BBQ pork Bao was the best. Spinach and shrimp dumplings were tasty as well. Noodles were great. Will definitely go back.

We try various dimsum dishes. Some are delicious and some are just ok. Service is good. Free valet parking. Overall is ok.

Had lunch last week with my daughter. We sampled spicy chicken, juicy pork and shrimp dumplings with a Chinese chicken salad. All were very good. Our favorite was the juicy pork. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pictures of each item on the menu helped us a lot with our choices. We will go back.

You can't go wrong with happy hours special! We had a party of 12 on a Monday afternoon, and didn't have to wait. The complimentary valet parking helps ease the experience. Coming from Little Saigon, we were skeptical about the quality of the food. But this is just incredibly delicious. Ha cao, siu mai, dumplings, chicken wings, even the usual chow mein and fried rice were all superb. For sure this will be on our hit list to come back!

This place is always busy, they offer free valet parking in the evenings, which I was not aware. The food here is incredible and the drinks are as well. I would highly recommend making a reservation. But if you are going solo, like I did or a small group you can take a seat at the bar and you can order food there as well. The place is very nicely decorated and the staff is extremely helpful. I enjoyed everything I ordered, I would have gone back multiple times if I was staying in LA longer. If you love DIM SUM, this is a definite must go to.

I've been to quite a few dim sum houses and this is the best one so far. Everything came out hot, fresh and steaming. They have a huge selection of dim sum and other types of food to choose from. It would take years to go through the menu! We were a party of six and came in right before "last call" for the kitchen and they couldn't have been nicer to us. They didn't rush us out and we DID close the place! Try to visit when you are in the LA area - you will not be disappointed.

Yummy and surprised my family with such good Chinese food. Staff is friendly, will revisit if come to LA in future.

Interesting, warm and inviting atmosphere although seating was rather close and a little noisy. Excellent variety of tasty dishes and good dimsum. Would return.

Surprisingly busy for a restaurant that serves mediocre food. The short ribs were tough and tasteless. The eggplant stuffed with shrimp, while a good idea, lacked any discernible flavor, (did someone forget to add salt and pepper?).The bao milk buns were a delight. Just the right amount of sweetness with a touch of coconut. Service was average.

My friend and I shared a large bowl of sizzling rice soup; he then had dumplings and I had scallion pancakes -- both of us were quite satisfied. A perfectly good meal even if not absolutely superb.

I wouldn’t say it’s bad but it is decent. But nothing like the downtown dim sum place. The place is done up nice. Call to reserve though. It’s gets crowded in the lunch and dinner during weekends.

Love!!! First of all, the restaurant is ADORABLE. Whoever designed it, excellent job! The service is really great. Friendly, fast, and people who don't mind when you ask them to explain five things on the menu. Full glasses and clean plates at all times. 5 star staff. The Food. Nommmmmmm. The stand outs to me were the crystal shrimp dumplings, the chicken spring roll, and the crab claws. We also had some sort of salad that tasted like it was infused with a sort of peanut dressing. Great value too. I was full and happy. A great place for dates, or HH with friends. :)

The food was overpriced and ok. The real stuff is in the San Gabriel Valley; NBC Seafood, 888... This place is perfect for beginners. When you graduate to the more authentic Cantonese Dim Sum take the drive out to Monterey Park, Rosemead, etc.

This is simply the best Chinese food I've eaten in the United States and among the best I've eaten anywhere in the world. Everything we've had from the menu has been beautifully prepared and delicious. The setting is comfortable and attractive, and the service is a very good standard. Highlights from the menu for me are shrimp stuffed eggplant and the short ribs in black bean sauce.

Tried this place out after a long day at universal studios Hollywood. I was very excited since my boyfriend and I barely ate the park and had very hungry stomachs. We were also excited since we saw that it was awarded for best dim sum in LA! It was definitely not a let down. The pork XLB was the best I have ever tried and that's after trying Din Tai Fung's famed XLB. The portions are actually small which makes it nice because you can try multiple different dishes. We also ordered the cumber salad, spare ribs, honey glazed BBQ pork, and sticky rice wraps. My favorites were the honey glazed pork and sticky rice wraps. The sticky rice wrap was so moist and full of meat, it was delicious. The cumber salad is not spicy like in most Taiwanese restaurants, instead it was more sour and had a vinegar taste. My only down side to this restaurant is that for small portions it is a bit over priced. Also the BBQ pork buns barely had any filling. It was mainly fluffy bread which is nice but I also wanted more of a savory BBQ pork taste. Overall, great experience!

Extremely rude and unfriendly staff and even manager specially when you order for a pickup over the phone and walk to get it. It was my first order. I find it overpriced greasy and fattening food. Not recommended at all. I live in the street for over 20 years and this place was great when it was Atlantic but now they treat customers like POW. Horrible!

This is your Asian fusion dim sum spot located in downtown LA. Came here with some friends on a busy Saturday evening. This place was completely packed and the wait was almost 45 minutes. We ordered everything from the scallion pancake, chicken feet, spare ribs, fried shrimp and crab balls, xiao long bao, and some sake. The food was delicious and prepared really well. A lot of flavor in the dishes and the portions sizes are generous. They have an extensive cocktail and sake menu. Seating is perfect for small to large parties. My friends and I left stuffed and really pleased with our experience. Servers, hostesses and bartenders were great. Highly recommend this place if you want cocktails, late night dim sum or Asian fusion dishes in general. Street parking is really easy to find as well.

Arrived around 1.30pm weekday. Waited 20mins even though I could see 1/3 of the tables were vacant. Service was slow, servers were aloof like other reviewers mentioned. Nice dark wood decor. Food was neither good nor bad. Esp didn't like the obvious chunks of pork fat in pork and shrimp shumai. Okay to come if around the area, but I wouldn't drive 30mins just to dine here. Parking wasn't too difficult on side streets.

This was one of the highlight meals of my visit to LA. I miss quality Asian food in the country where I currently reside, and this was... like I was eating Dim Sum in Hong Kong! I had a crispy crap/shrimp dumpling set, chicken dumplings, chicken and spinach, pork, and a few I am forgetting. The only one I did not like was the milk/cream baked pork bun. Everything else was fabulous. They have very nice cocktails to sip on also. My only complaint is that it took a while to get service to come to the table, and the place was not that full... I would definitely go back again though. Excellent food!

We had sunday dim sum. The service was very good, and the food very well cooked. We had sticky rice with sausage and chicken which was fab I highly reccomend it. Fried rice with chicken, shrimps dumplings, pork dumplings, shrimp balls, pak choi, spring rolls for 56$ in 3 plus a pot of green tea. It is worth to go;)

For anyone that has tasted the real dim sum in Hong Kong, will easily realize that the food served at Bao is far from being the authentic dim sum. I guess my expectations were too high, due to the positive reviews.

If you are in Los Angeles and do not want to drive to Monterey Park, this is a dim sum house serving dim sum all day long. Unfortunately, you order the dim sum from a menu and do not select it off carts. The upside is that all the dim sum dishes are very good. They have an American twist to the dishers with a fresher (healthier) taste. The restaurant atmosphere is very elegant with valet parking up front.

Called ahead and the super friendly hostess put us on the list so when we arrived we had a great round table waiting for us! She was fabulous! Our server was amazing!! Foot fantastic and worth every penny. Atmosphere also was wonderful! I've grown up on dim sum for brunch and Bao Dim Sum is one of the absolute best! Enjoy!

We were looking for Dim Sum and found this restaurant on trip Advisor. It was excellent and we enjoyed each our four choices. It was not served in the traditional sense of a rolling cart but the selections were both pictured and then again on the menu. Would definitely go there again and recommend this to friends.

Me and my family (2 adults and 2 children) run across this restaurant after a day at Studio Universal. We took three types of dim sum + bun with BBQ pork and house fried chicken. My favourite was the juicy dim sum with pork. Really tasty while delicate. Also rice was ok. Definitely pleased and all this for just 55 bucks...what else to say.

Was craving some dim sum but the best thing they had was the scallion pancake. The food all came out at the same time which was very difficult to fit on the table. The service was lackluster, so I definitely won’t be back.

Tried this location after reading many reviews, needed a good dim sum location in the BEverly Hills area, this one fit the need, and offered comp valet parking, just tip the guys. Satuday seating at 11:30' am ample seating, happy friendly server . Menu choices are ordered from the kitchen, no food carts, so items are all freshly cooked, hot and fresh, better quality. Good selection, food quality was adequate, but prices were twice as high a normal DimSum menu. Items served to table promptly, oromptly and fresh, cafe was not crowded for a Saturday Lunch hour, so that was my first clue something was strange. Turns out to be an enjoyable dining, but the food bill simply over~priced. Try it and form your own opinion... But a lack of a strong lunch crowd on a Saturday for DimSum... You now know why. A clean, organized , and comfy location.

We went during Happy Hour and didn’t really pay attention to the menu for It surprisingly most of the food we ordered was on It. And It was delicious. Good atmosphere, friendly wait staff and the food hit the spot.

Great food, tasty, nice selection of dim sum options. The bar was pretty simple but had nice options. The wonton soup was very flavorful. Checked in with Yelp and got a free dessert too. Nice valet option because it is in a busy area of LA

I love dim sum and yum cha. Dim sum means "to touch the heart" and it is a lovely way to spend time with family or friends. It developed from a concept known as yum cha, or "drink tea." While it is most common in Cantonese culture, one can find dim sum and yum cha in virtually every Chinese community throughout the world. Bao Dim Sum House operates more like a tapas restaurant, with diners ordering the small plates from a menu, rather than the more traditional choosing from carts parading through the dining room. I found the Xiao long Bao disappointing, served barely warm and without the Chinese ceramic spoon to cradle the burst of encased juices. The hot and sour soup was tasty, but the serving temperature was just warm. The seafood salad was excellent, and served as a generous portion. The vegetable fried rice was just ok, nothing special, but once again at almost room temperature. Parking is difficult. The atmosphere was very nice, but for me much too dark for lunch.

The taste in here Bao Dim Sum House is incredibly unbelievable and inevitable because the taste catches you and never release you until it allows. We are a group of six arriving here to taste the delicious Chinese food tasted before one of best friends of mine who has a such taste. Then ordered some Chinese Food on the menu the Chef's Choice. As it comes with the waiter we can't wait to taste it. Then all things had changed in my mind the taste anything in my mind. It all gone. It taste so good that I can't even imagine if there was a little chance that I could even make it in home.

We went here as guests of my brother. He recommended this place for its laid back atmosphere and great Dim Sum! The food did NOT disappoint. We ordered the chicken, pork fried rice, and shrimp chow mein. Everything was well-seasoned and the portions were healthy enough to satisfy us all. The ONLY complaint on this night was the service. Our waiter was inattentive at best, poor at worst. If not for that, this would have been a 5-star experience. We'd definitely go again if we ever get back to the Los Angeles area.

There is no parking so you have two choices: 1). Valet or 2). Street Parking by the Meter I think the lowest price dish is $5.99 The food temperature is good; the size of the dumplings and items is good size and quanity The Pea Sprouts was a surprise.. Would I return? Only if someone is paying the bill or there are several people sharing the bill. My wife and I paid $50.00 including tip for a total of six items and we had tap water! What surprised me was no tea set; The pancake was excellent, real and authentic! The servers are very attentive and will move quickly

Upside nice happy hour menu. Plenty of choices in incremental price increases of $0.50. decent food above average but not exceptional or particularly fresh. Crab & Mushroom soup a bit fishy tasting. Chicken wings good but lacked intense chile flavor. Pot stickers & shumai decent.

But, if you ask me to an average joe I could see why their reviews are higher. Traditional no... Americanized pricey Asian food sure... Just like your PF Changs and etc they do a decent job and run a great place. But, if you're like me and homesick looking for good Asian food, this isn't the place. For Americans and novice dim sum goers this place is perfect. They have pictures and everything is in English. Everyone speaks English and you won't feel intimidated by walking in. No crazy old grumpy Asians screaming out orders. Or trying to rush you out the door to seat the next group. Great for a bite. Nothing promising. Simple and gets the job done for novice Dim Sum guests. Clean. Valet is free.

My wife and I live about a mile from EM, and have been there at least four times. We keep coming back for the combination of good food, excellent atmosphere and great service. The dining room is quiet and serene, an oasis in the middle of the chaos of the city. You are not sausaged in (with tables inches apart) as is unfortunately becoming more common in "hot" eateries. The service has always been exemplary, the food is quite good and, for a "nice" restaurant of this class, reasonably priced. The menu is adventurous and interesting but not cutting edge weird. With this combination, we'll keep coming back.

I started eating dim sum 30+ years ago after my parents returned from the Orient. We would go to Empress Pavilion in Chinatown until it closed. Something about going surrounded by Chinese speaking people and women wheeling tea carts harking their offerings makes the good taste better. You also get to see what the good looks like! Got there while happy hour still gong so ordered some items and drinks off of that menu. When the clock turned past 7, items ordered after were regular priced. Food was just ok, not great. Location and decor nice and saves the drive time from the Westside for something more authentic.

The enviorment was great; upscale but relaxed. The food was delicious. You have to try the potato chips. But the best part of the meal was the dessert! The strawberry shortcake was the best I've ever had and the Expresso brownie was perfect!

I dine here at least 1x week as it's the best if you love dim sum like I do! Friends who i invite always return and say "We no longer have to drive all the way to China Town for good dim sum". Always ask for the "Waiter with the bow tie"…he's the best! Be careful for a certain busser who gives attitude to the customers and has been counseled many times but that doesn't stop my friends and i from enjoying the rest of the fine team and managers. You won't go wrong, go to Dao Dim Sum House! Tim

great selection and really good dim sum! Eat in is nice and take out is also very good. Can't go wrong!

At Bao, dim sum is ordered off a menu and not from carts wheeled about by "aunties" Dim sum is very hot when arriving at table and prices are ok

We arrived at prime lunch time during the week and there was no wait. We filled up on some great dim sum. They have a lunch special menu, but we only ordered on thing off of it. The veggie spring rolls were awesome and I loved the steamed pork buns. Everything we got was great, but these were my favorites. The only problem was by the time dessert came around we ate too much!!! Service was great and I would definitely go back the next time I'm in the LA/Hollywood area.

Very good dim sum menu. Love that they use photos so you know what you are getting. The dumplings are delicious and the shrimp/eggplant dim sum was excellent. Service was good. The place is large but the decor is a bit dated. Very good meal at a decent price.

Dim sum is traditionally served in the morning or early afternoon. Bao serves it all day long, minus the chaotic bustle of a typical dim sum parlor. There are no carts being pushed around the room, and no worries on the part of the dinner that his favorite items will not make it to his table. While more and more dim sum places are moving toward menu ordering, none that I've experienced do it in such an attractive environment. The dining room is tastefully decorated with Asian artifacts and the lighting is subdued. We've sampled a large number of items on the dim sum menu over four visits. We especially like the Xiao Long Bao (juicy pork dumpling), tofu skin roll, tripe, stuffed bell peppers, crispy chicken wings and calamari, and onion pancakes. Some of the wok items lacked umami, in particular, the stir fried pea shoots were a bit bland. Noodle dishes, only four are available, seem a bit on the small size for the price. Unlike most dim sum places, Bao offers an interesting selection of cocktails and wines. The Monday through Thursday happy hours from 4 to 7 are a good deal with reduced prices for drinks and small plates at the bar. The restaurant manages to be hip and elegant at the same time. Highly recommended.

I found the food average, but nothing really special. Valet parking was convenient, service was good, and atmosphere was unique. If I was visiting again, I wouldn't make a special trip to come back. We had the chow mein, chicken wings, assortment of dim sum dishes and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Chicken wings were probably the best out of the selection.

The meal was great, really tasty and the portions were big sized. We were a group of 9 people, it took them a while to prepare such a large table, so you should make a reservation if you are a large group. The atmosphere is quiet and nice. The service was really good and some of the waiters speak spanish. Great hong kong experience!

I love dim sum. But most of the best places are dives, or holes in the wall. This is a special occasion dim sum place. They have a full bar. They have ambiance (it's not garish red and gold). They have a photo menu. Try the spicy chicken dumpling (our favorites), the juicy pork dumpling (best seller), and the chicken and spinach potsticker (not like any kind of gyoza). The pork and shrimp shumai were good, and the green beans with garlic were excellent. The steamed BBQ pork bun (classic dim sum) were more than up to par, and the bao milk bun were a tasty dessert. Avoid the crispy crab and shrimp ball, it was the only horrific choice we made. I would recommend this restaurant for couples, families, friends, business, in fact for everyone except families with small children (who may not feel comfortable with the pace of waiting for small plates of 3-4 pieces each to come out at a time).

My sister has been driving by this restaurant for 3 years. Finally, today we actually decided to try it. Are we ever glad! No carts; one orders from a picture menu: we chose garlic & green beans, bok choi, shrimp chow mein, chicken spring rolls and for dessert, fried sesame balls.

Excellent dim sum made to order in a cool, comfortable setting. Sometimes you just want to have dim sum in the afternoon or evening -- this is the place. My favorites include tofu skin rolls, shiu mai, and milk buns for a sweet finish. Great service, too.

Service was friendly and good, whilst the dim sum were very large in size and sensibly priced, they lacked that special wow factor, they were fine but no better than average. The salt and chilli calamari was heavily battered, which rather spoiled it; I would not rush to return, which is a shame, as I had been looking forward to going there.

Just like another reviewer on here, my gold standard for dim sum is Yank Sing in SF, as well. I discovered this place because of a coupon, of all things! I was searching for a new place because Emperor's Pavilion was rapidly going downhill (now, out of business) and decided to give this a go. It wasn't in the usual dim sum areas so I wasn't sure if it was going to be authentic. Well, I was genuinely surprised and so was my whole family. We've been here about 5 times now and have enjoyed almost everything. Just a couple of dishes have been a disappointment but they weren't dim sum dishes. Everything has been very fresh and high quality, the decor is really nice (often, in dim sum houses, it's iffy) and the closest I've come to Yank Sing yet (and closer!). The only thing missing for me on the menu is duck. Otherwise, I have left completely satisfied on each visit. The xiao long bao is excellent, har gow is fresh and generous in size and the spareribs in black bean sauce is delicious, too. And the dessert bao is very good, my favorite being the crispy sesame ball. Definitely worth coming too!

We were looking for a fun dinner place near our hotel because were sick of spending so much time in traffic. Because we enjoy but aren't used to having it any day besides Sunday Bao seemed like a fun place to go for dinner. We were really happy we went to this restaurant! Its very pleasant inside and they have a very nice menu. We had a super nice waiter named Josh and got to sit at a round table. Josh recommended the soup dumplings. They were good, maybe not as good as what were used to but always fun to eat. We also had sticky rice in lotus leaves-that was delicious! It's hard to find these days. We'd go back next time we are in LA.

I was in this area and was in the mood for dim sum so I thought I'd give it a chance. The wait wasn't that long, probably 10mins a little after 1pm. The service was a little slow, but they were busy so it's understandable. Everything from the tea to the different types of dim sum I had we're really good. The prices were reasonable for the quality. I would definitely go back.

Googled "best dim sum in L.A." and found this all day dim sum in Hollywood. Must be a dearth of good dim sum restaurants in the Southland. They do not serve traditionally in that they do not bring trays of different varieties to your table. It is all a la carte. We made the mistake of not ordering everything at once, but then, how can you, really? Especially since 4 of our party of 6 had never had dim sum. There were 20 minute gaps between ordering items and actually having them at the table. Luckily we were in no hurry. Food was just OK, nothing special. Prices, on the other hand, pretty special. $106 for 4 adults and 2 kids (who didn't eat much because "it looked yucky"). We've had dim sum on 4 continents, 6 different states. This was the least impressive.

We went for happy hour and ordered pork bun, pork dumpling, and shrimp dumpling. We ended up ordering another order of pork dumpling and pork bun they were so delicious. The pork buns were full of pork and flavor and the bun was tender and light. The pork dumpling was juicy and flavorful and simply a delight. Our server (I think his name was Justin) was super cute and right on top of things. He kept our waters full and showed up right when we needed him for anything. He was a delight. The atmosphere and decorations are terrific and if I am in the area I will be back!

We are dim sum fanatics and this has my #1 rating. I have never had better. The portions are huge! The service amazing and dont let the beverly hills scare you, they are so down to earth and relaxing. When you eat til you drop and then only think about how much more you could have eaten, that is when you know its good. Pork buns and shrimp and walnut....we went back for 3 of those! Shrimp and eggplant are amazing and biggest i have had...huge pieces of shrimp. And believe it or not, mtheir ok choy is awesome!

I found this place occasionaly and invited my friends. All of us found this place good. We'll recommend this place to people who like Dim Sum. Order their desert rolls it's tasty:)

Met my brother and sister in law from New York in LA this past Sunday and reserved a table at Bao Dim Sum for brunch. There was six of us altogether and my kids who joined us had never had Dim Sum. We had a fabulous meal and kept ordering different dishes until we could not eat any more. The interior is not pretentious and comfortable and casual, service was great, waiters were friendly and efficient. Its a good thing I do not live closer to Bao Dim Sum as I think my paycheck would be spent there every week.

Made a reservation via Yelp and really looked forward to this after reading TA reviews. Greeted with little interest and this theme continued through our service. Food arrived quickly enough but the experience was spoiled by a very loud female sat next to our table who ranted endlessly and littered with profanities. Fortunately this ended and we focused on the food which was nothing special at all. We had no interest from the server, no ‘how is your food’? or any other attention. Pointed out there were no shrimps in our shrimp and pork noodle dish and this received the same bland lack of interest. Ribs were terrible, chewy and hardly any meat on the bone, just not worth the effort or cost. If you fancy good oriental food round these parts just head for the Tasty Noodle House, it’s much better food with very friendly service and less than 10 mins walk from here.

Traveling alone has one great perk: Immediate seating at the bar on a busy Friday night! The food was really good. The guy next to me was a regular and very chatty. I soon ignored him, just like the bar staff did. I don't blame the bar staff...they wouldn't have been able to do their job. He was a negative attention getter and just needed to say everything on his mind out loud. Though, as a patron, I think the bar staff should develop a kind way to tell him to stay quiet for the benefit of those who are not regulars. The kind service and the delicious food made up for it. The one thing that would improve this place - and this is totally selfish as a person who dines alone a lot - A sampler of 3 or 4 different bao would be awesome!

Wife and I were In the mood for dim sum for date night. We ordered up so we could sample lots of dishes. Generally, really good flavor profiles across the dishes. Loved: Scallion Pancakes Singapore Noodles Chicken Fried Rice Spicy Chicken Dumplings Pork Soup Dumplings Liked: Chicken Shumai - a little too big per piece Eh: Pan Fried Pork Potstickers - too large and a bit oily. Pan Fried Chicken Potstickers - same as above. Drinks were well made and service - speed and attentiveness, were very good.

We visited LA and while there met with family for dinner. They suggested Bao and I was thinking this would be a boring Chinese restaurant like we have in the South, I was terribly wrong! My cousin started ordering for the table so I couldn't tell you what we had but he just rattled off appetizer after appetizer and I was game for anything. When the food arrived I was blown away at the good sized portions, we stuffed ourselves and didn't bother ordering a main course. Everything that came to the table was hot, fresh, full of flavor and had excellent taste!! I'm not sure if I'll be able to eat Chinese food in my town again without being disappointed and craving the food clear across the country at Bao!!

Freshly cooked tasty food at a reasonable price. Friendly attentive staff. Booked a table easily via my phone through the website. Bao was recommended to me and is somewhere I would recommend to you if you like Dim Sum.

My family wanted to find the best dumpling house in L.A. and I think we did. We ordered course after course of every dumpling, pot sticker and won ton we could, and each course was as phenomenal as the others. If you like great Chinese food, this is some of the best we've ever had, and on par or better than many of San Francisco's best!

We are big fans of this newish restaurant - going every couple of weeks at least. The happy hour has particularly good deals. The Xiao Long Bao (Juicy Pork Dumplings) are really good. Top them with the cut ginger and some vinegar and let them explode in your mouth. :-) We are also fans of the Chicken & Spinach Potstickers, the Radish Cake, and the various shumai. Some of the other dumplings are so stuffed they have a tendency to fall apart, which is a pain, so I tend to avoid those, as well as avoiding the fried food. Nice cocktails, too!

I would say this 4-star rating is more of a 3.75 rounded up. We visited on a weekday evening and were lucky enough to find street parking across the street. Bao Dim Sum House uses Yelp Waitlist option so before leaving our place, I checked the wait time and it said there was no wait. We get there and this guy tells us we need to put our name on the yelp waitlist. Even though the waitlist still says 0 minutes, I proceed to add our name and ask him how long is the wait (mind you, they're not even at full capacity). He looks confused until another employee tells him that we can be seated right away. Super weird start to our dinner, but oh well. The restaurant is low lit and pretty simply decorated, offering a pretty extensive menu. We ordered the following: Lychee Martini, Green Beans, Scallion Pancake, Hot and Sour Soup, Calamari, Chicken and Spinach Potstickers, Crab and Shrimp Balls, and Juicy Pork Dumplings. My martini was pretty good - not too sweet and with just the right amount of alcohol. The soup had a nice kick to it, just what I needed since I had a slight cold. All the food items were good and plenty; however, my favorite one were the Scallion Pancake and the Juicy Pork Dumplings. The pancake was filled with scallions and it was fried to perfection. The dumplings tasted juicy and delicious. Our waitress was amazing. Friendly, soft spoken and always checking in on us to make sure everything was to our liking. Since that was the only dim sum place we tried in LA, I don't have anything else to compare it to and would say I was quite pleased with our experience. Our server definitely made up for the front guy's weird behavior.

The restaurant is located close to the Élan Hotel where we are staying. Dim sum sounded good so gave it a go - so pleased we did. The portions are large so choose wisely. Looks like the dim sum arrive as they are cooked, excellent! Some dim sum are spicy, more Thai than Chinese, but still had depth of flavour under the heat. Different to what we are used to, but nothing wrong with that. Also, great service, attentive but not overdone. . . . All in all, recommended

After spending the day at The Forum with Oprah, my sister & I decided to have dinner at her favorite Los Angeles Chinese restaurant. She loves bok choy and shrimp chow mein; I chose vegetable spring rolls, chicken chow mein, & steamed green beans. We decided on sesame rice balls for dessert.

Seaweed as a starer. Suprisingly good. We had a good selection of Bao's to choose from and none of them disappointed. Very tasty, fresh and worth the experience

We love dim sum and had to try it while in LA. We liked it overall but it was slow serving with normal sized portions which are not the norm for dim sum. Pork buns were smaller but tasty. Fried rice was good again smaller portions. Chow fun, shu mei with pork and shrimp, Garlic string beans flavorful and nice. Spent $66 for our meal which is on the higher side for a dim sum meal. We still enjoyed it and would return.

Do you want an Asian dinner? Do you want the best cocktail in LA? So you have to taste Bao Dim Sum cousine. I love lichee's Martini and I love all Asian recipes of Bao.

Quality and fresh ingredients first and foremost. Lots of different choices and many beyond the standard dim sum fare at most spots. They have the traditional shred of course but really have some great other options. Chicken and spinach pan fried dumplings were a highlight.

It was a late Saturday lunch. The place was half full. We sat for 15 minutes before the waitress showed up to ask what we wanted to drink - very distracted, aloof. Twenty minutes later, I asked the hostess where our waitress was, since she we didn't see her since she took the order. Then I spot her preparing my drink at the bar, chatting with the manager... both aloof, distracted. She brought one drink. My husband asked "Where is my lemonade?" She looked aloof, distracted: "Lemonade??" We left. I live in LA (not far from this place) and as a local. I'm warning you... STAY AWAY!

First of all, the reason I don't rate this as excellent is because of the hostess. We had 11:15am reservations and arrived at about 11:05. Although there were very few people seated in the restaurant and they weren't busy she pointed out that our reservations weren't until 11:15 and wouldn't seat us right away. My husband and I had never eaten dim sum and when our daughter brought us to this restaurant it was a real treat. We ordered 6-7 different dishes and all of them were delicious. Once we were seated service was excellent and food served at a good pace.

The decor is nice and the live jazz is a nice touch, but the food only compared well to the service. The seasonal appetizer was virtually inedible. The sesame-encrusted tuna, while cooked to order, was sliced like thick french toast and so immersed in soy sauce that it couldn't be tasted. The shrimp cocktail came with four medium shrimp which were overcooked. In fairness, my father enjoyed the meatloaf. As disappointing as the food was, the service was as bad as we've had in LA. The guy wearing the waiter's uniform must be a pretty bad actor if he couldn't pull off this role. He didn't inform us of the specials -- when we heard him presenting them to another table and inquired, he didn't apologize and then told us that the kitchen was out of one of them anyway. Our drinks sat on the bar for five minutes before being brought to us. Our water glasses sat unfilled and when I asked for some, the waiter filled my glass but walked away without filling my wife's. The waiter did not check on us once during dinner to see how things were or if we needed anything else. There are a lot of great restaurants in LA. This ain't one of them.

Eight family members, Sunday, and we found this great restaurant. The variety was wide, the quality consistently high, the wait-staff helpful, patient and attentive without being intrusive.

I have eaten here twice & cannot praise it highly enough. The dim sum are freshly made, full of yummy ingredients & delicious. They arrive piping hot at the table & are the best I've had anywhere in the world, including Hong Kong! Make sure you go.

Food was good though the menu was a little limited for dim sum. Great bao. Other food items on the menu as well though.

Chose Bao based on on-line reviews, proximity and ability to get a 5 minute reservation on Valentine's Day. We were able to find street parking, which was great. Bao is the first dim sum place I have been to that doesn't have carts to choose from. The plus side to that is the food comes out super hot. I thought that the selections were quite expensive compared to even places in NYC. The atmosphere is nice.

The place was recommended to us by our tour guide. Since I love potstickers, v decided to give it a try. There were a fair number of people on monday night. The ambience is quiet nice. The real star was the food. Spicy chicken potstickers were our fav ( not really spicy but yummy). The veggie was good too. So were the spring rolls( oily but i guess they are usually oily), Choufun( not sure if thats the correct name-it was in the rice and noodle section ) was delicious aswell. Not a fan of veggie steamed buns but they were fluffy aswell. For drinks we has pomegranate martini, lichi martini and cucumber martini. Lichi was good! With 5 appetisers, 1 entree and 3 drinks our bill was arnd $80 . One trip- unlesss u r a mustard lover- Donot try the yellow dip! Its soo strong , almost instantly gave me a headache :P Overall will I go again- Yes!!

This was such a romantic intimate atmosphere for a perfect date night and to try something new. We got so many different options and it was so hard to choose. All of them were amazing including the dessert ones! We could go back many times and never eat the same thing twice. Great service and fast.

I've had a great experience at Bao every time I've visited. The portions are perfect for sharing. And Bao is a great place to take people who have not yet had Dim Sum. The food is consistently delicious, the drinks are great, the staff is attentive... and they are able to accommodate parties of all sizes. There's also a private room you can request for a larger party or a VIP looking for some privacy. Location is great and parking isn't always readily available but if you choose valet, it is quick.

Sometimes you are craving that authentic Dim Sum experience - a drive to San Gabriel Valley, long waits to be seated, ladies with carts, giggling when the check arrives because you get to pay so little for the tons of tasty food you ate... So if that's the experience you seek, head out that way. But, if you want yummy Dim Sum in a more upscale restaurant environment right near the Beverly Center this place will more than satisfy. We always get the ha gow shrimp dumplings, juicy pork dumplings, baked bbq pork buns, sautéed green beans with garlic, and it is all delicious. On prior visits the sautéed pea shoots also were good. Everything is made fresh upon order and though the bar is set very high in SoCal for juicy pork dumplings and Dim Sum, the chefs deliver the goods. Speaking of the bar, they do have a full bar here so you can opt for a nice relaxing brunch with libations. And when you receive the check you will not forget that you are in the Beverly Hills/West Hollywood area and you are going to pay three times more than in the authentic east L.A. enclaves. But you can happily pay up and be glad that after so many restaurants have come and gone in this space, Bao has grounded delicious dim sum goodness right here in the neighborhood.

Good but not great - and fairly wildly overpriced. This is an "upscale" dim sum place, meaning that you're not going to get those authentic Chinatown tastes that are increasingly hard to find. The flavors are right -- it's just that they're somehow dulled or muted slightly, as though the restaurant was afraid to go that extra 20% needed to make really tasty dim sum. Chinese broccoli just this side of undercooked and stingy on the oyster sauce. Steamed pork buns acceptable (the dough is quite good) but the filling is bland. Same thing with the sticky rice (outrageous at $8) and the cold green onion/ginger chicken--not the best cut of chicken (why was there gristle in there?) and ginger flavor too subdued. Excellent table service.

Delicious dim sum in the Beverly Hills/Hollywood area. We were in the area and chose this restaurant for a dim sum lunch. Food is selected from a menu rather than a cart. The interior is relaxing and pleasantly private. We chose several dishes with shrimp and crab, pork, and radish. I sometimes have trouble with fried food, but not here. Everything was tasty and perfectly prepared.

I have walked past this restaurant many times as I live in the area and finally went in. WOW! The service is astounding. Was even offered free dessert by the manager for no reason at all. The food was amazing. Ordered the cucumber salad, the bok choy, the red cabbage salad (the only thing I wasn't too keen on) the sweet and tart drink, the crispy scallion cakes, and much more. Each dish was really well presented, perfectly seasoned, and fresh. I would suggest going as a group of 6 so you can order many dishes and taste everything.

The food is very good and there is lots of variety. However, the bill really starts to add up. Still, I would recommend it.

Try the Spicy Crab and Shrimp Ball, it is crispy and full of flavorm treat yourself this is a great dish. Along with that the Chef's Chicken Wings are some of the best I've ever had. It's also fun to order several times as you find other menu items to sample.

We live in Toronto Ontario and eat at a variety of dim sum restaurants. On a limb, we tried Bao due to it's proximity of our hotel (arrived on a Friday at 10pm). Restaurant was not only open, but also quite busy. The food could be labelled as Fusion dim sum, and the kitchen took some creative licence to stray from the traditional items; all with great success! service was excellent too.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. Close to our hotel the Orlando. Atmosphere was very nice. Food was very good. We ordered the shrimp wanton, and sticky rice with chicken. Also very good. Our friends also enjoyed what they ate. Sweet and sour soup and vegetable friend rice. and fried tofu Service was very friendly, and they did not rush you out. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely go again. We had a nice time.

The dumplings here are okay, I have had the juicy pork, it is not Din Tai Fung, these are much doughier, not as juicy and come in little tins. The fried rice here is good and I like the veggie egg rolls. With Din Tai Fung in Glendale, it is hard to resist a little bit of a longer drive to go there for juicy pork.

Hands down best Dim sum I’ve ever had. Wild Crab and shrimp dumplings are my favorite but loved everything we ordered, especially crab and pork fried rice! Great service great food

The Skinny- Parking - free valet!! what?! in Los Angeles? it's true Decor - Asian inspired Food- excellent Coke Factor - perfect carbonation to sugar ratio Restroom - clean double Service - swift but somewhat standoffish Halloween Night and I picked a place right next to West Hollywood. I was regretting my choice but with careful planning, we made it without too much crazy traffic. We were seated at a nice sized round table where you could see everyone and ordered a ton of food. They brought out the dishes fairly quickly and everything was very good. I think we were all kind of surprised since sometimes people are reluctant to try new places based on the fear that the meal will be bad. You will not be disappointed here! We ordered: Cucumber Salad - crisp, refreshing, with a crazy good flavor Steamed Char Sui Bao - BBQ pork was very good Baked Char Sui Bao - nice glaze, hubby liked very much Crab and Shrimp dumpling - everyone's favorite Honey Walnut Shrimp - looked great, my friend gobbled it up Fried Rice - one of the best I have ever had Seafood Crispy Noodles - excellent sauce, love the noodles Har Gow - perfect translucent globes of shrimp, yum Garlic green beans - not too garlicky, snappy texture Radish Cake with sausage - slightly odd texture, ok taste, couldn't taste sausage Spicy chicken wings - another hit Several people ordered the Honey Ginger Mojito which at $10 is not too bad for a cocktail and they all liked it. I ordered an oolong tea and a coke. I wish they had refilled the coke and given me more hot water for the tea. Next time I will speak up as that was the only hiccup in the meal. For 6 of us, we ordered too much and had to take food home. Next time we go back we will take our time and order as we eat!

I enjoyed my evening at the bar drinking sake and supping on bbq buns, crystal dumplings and Shu mai. Portions were so big that I actually overdid it, and that’s hard for me with dim sum. Delicious flavors, well presented. I got there for happy hour, around 6, and saved a few bucks. Still a bit expensive, but well worth it. Beautiful decor, wonderful lighting.

At the recommendation of the concierge at the Elan Hotel, we wandered Beverly Boulevarde to the Bao Dim Sum House. We were greeted by the most charming young lady and seated within minutes. My husband ordered har gows (Crystal Shrimp Dumplings) and dim sims with the restaurant's own hot chilli paste - he still says they were the best he's had. The ambiance was nice, the value good - but the most memorable part of the meal was the friendly staff.

I have been to many dim sum places in LA and this one is outstanding. You can have dim sum at the proper time or you can have it for dinner. Never been disappointed. Chicken shi mui, juicy and flavorful, radish cakes done to perfection, chow mein not greasy and quite flavorful.

Very good food. The menu is kept simple unlike many Asian restaurants with a thousand entrees. Easy to choose what you like by category. The atmosphere of the place is relaxing, service was great and reasonably priced.

Had an early & quick dinner here on a Saturday night. Service of both the welcome staff & waiter particularly was friendly & very good. All the food was made to order & took a little time to arrive at the table it wasn't insurmountable amounts of time, plus waiter advised there would be a wait up front so set appropriate expectations. Once it arrived though it certainly didn't disappoint, we had a x4 different steamed dumplings, spring rolls & Chinese broccoli which easily filled the two us!! Decor was nice, though not much of an overall ambience to the place.

Ate here with a friend. 10-15 minute wait with no booking on a Friday night. Ordered some food to share. Arrived as and when ready. Seaweed salad was tasty, huge portion! Chicken and pork dumplings tasted nearly the exact same. Pork buns -yummy! Neither of us could finish the pan stick chicken - really odd texture (steamed meat, stringy!).. Seems like a popular food destination. Lots of smiling people leaving. Variable food, but seems like a good price for busy LA with beer included!

I was here a while ago when Bao first opened and thought they did a decent though limited job bringing Dim Sum to the area. So.... I figured it's Sunday (a typical Dim Sum day when I was young) and I'd go back for a tasty Chinese version of tapas. The only reason this eatery gets 2 stars is for its interior/decor. But frankly this was a huge disappointment. In fact, a case of gastronomic devolution. Staples of any Dim Sum house are steamed and baked bros. the ones here were mostly bready, with entirely lackluster fillings. Char siu tough and not particularly tasty. Vegi bao even worse. To be honest, not one dish was close to satisfying. I could not believe how busy this place was. I realize that choices may be few for this genre of food in this neck of the woods, but this place wouldn't last a week in San Francisco (where you can taste quality Dim Sum at many places). Now it could be that some other dishes were the cats meow, but if what I had was any predictor, it might only be a waste of time, money, and calories.
Terrific Happy Hour for Dim Sum
Just returned after a second visit to this restaurant. I wanted to confirm for myself that this place was more than a "one time" wonder. All of the dim sum consumed was served quickly and the right temperature for each of the items ordered. The Happy Hour is especially nice as it includes Sapporo on tap for $1.99 a glass as well as house sake for $5.00. The tastiest items we ordered were the "Crispy Crab", string beans, chicken stuffed mushrooms and for dessert "Milk Buns". They also have noodle dishes and salads/soups that while not included in the Happy Hour menu appeared to be reasonably priced. We'll be trying those other items at our next visit.
