Disappointing experience

By Tim C |

A group of friends and I chose to come here this past Saturday for the big Penn State vs Wisconsin game. Initially, everything was going great. The waitress was attentive, drinks and food were coming out smoothly, and we were having a good time. At the start of the second half, a waitress carrying a full tray of Fireball shots (the sugary cinnamon whiskey) was bumped into, and spilled them all over two of my friends. The one got his thigh and leg wet, but the other was completely drenched. Her hair, neck, and the right side of her body were soaked by the sticky liquor. The waitress was very apologetic, and brought out multiple fistfuls of wet wipes that are unfortunately ineffective on hair and clothing. Interestingly, the person who knocked the waitress and caused the accident turned out to be someone from management at Bar-Ly. After the accident happened, we noticed that he didn't come over to apologize, but immediately disappeared to go hide in the back! My friends went to the bathroom to try and clean up as much as possible, and a while after they returned a round of free shots was brought to our table. The man came over as the drinks were being served to say that he was sorry, although he didn’t seem sincere. After we got our bills, my friends noticed that they were given 10% off their orders. The friend who got soaked went to go speak with him and expressed that the level of compensation offered, especially given that they now had to go home to shower and wash their clothing, was disrespectful. He ended up giving them each 20% off their meals. It’s my opinion that for him to be in a managerial position and show such shameful cowardice, and subsequent low levels of empathy, means he is much more concerned about his image and pinching pennies than the comfort of his patrons. For being in the service business, I don't think that $6 off your meal and a free shot conveys, "I'm sorry for what happened. Let me try to make it right; I value you as a customer". I wouldn’t expect him to bend over backwards to appeal to my friends, but I feel he should have at least covered their collective ~$60 tab. I don't respect this man's actions, so I won't support his business. There are plenty of other great sports bars elsewhere in Philly, so next game-day I'll be sure to go there instead.

Great place for a drink!

By skeeterflorida |

Great happy hour with well drinks and different beers. I went one night and they had oysters on the half shell at a great price. One night was clams....kind of chewy but tasted good. The atmosphere is fun as it is a watering hole for the after work (staying in hotel) crowd. I will return when I visit the area again.

Go sports bar

Good food and great beer selection. Nice atmosphere with plenty of TV's to watch any sports venue. Nive variety of food choices. a little bit of everything.

Good beer selections

By johnwGA |

Meet folks here for a few beers. They told me this place only open a little over a year. Very good selection of draft beers. Ask to see the beer menu. Service was OK. Prices were OK for a big city. The food looked good but were we going to Thai after so we did order food here. Bar Ly is located in china town area and a lots of places to eat nearby. I will remember this place for future visits.

Been there once before, will NEVER go again

By Margo B |

Let me start by saying my husband and I have been there before, had an OK experience, nothing great but since they're open late night it near where we were working, we hoped it would be OK again.... We walked in around midnight, the place was super loud, like TVs in every direction you look at full volume...it's a sports bar I guess, so we got over that part but definitely not the place if you're looking for a quiet, quick bite to eat. It took awhile for our server to get or drink order, literally 2 sodas, nothing fancy. When she finally came back for us to order it was about 12:30.....seriously, half our of waiting just to order. We order items we thought would be quick, lo-mein, mozz sticks, and a Bahn Mi sandwich....the cheese sticks and lo mein came out at the same time....the cheese sticks were not even done, they were cold and tasted frozen still. The bahn mi sandwich arrived 20 minutes later and tasted horrible. In my past bahn mi sandwich experiences the vegetables are pickled, apparently, Bar-Ly puts raw veggies on theirs and just throws a single sprout of cilantro on the top for color. Needless to say it was awful and my husband and I shared the lo-mein as it was the only edible item we ordered. When the food runner brought the sandwich out finally, we asked for drink refills....he never returned with them....we had no drinks to finish our singular meal that we shared. At this point I was a bit upset and ready to leave but we hadn't seen our waitress since she took our order so we couldn't even get our check. While waiting for her, another waitress spilled 3 beers onto us....I ended up throwing her napkins from our table because she seemed incapable of handling this herself. Our server finally returns from whatever she was doing for 30 minutes to get us our check.....which somehow had $18 worth of oysters on it, which we never ordered or ate!! She finally fixes the check, which one would have assumed she would have also taken off the bahn mi because we didn't eat it at all, but that didn't happen either. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had and will NEVER go here again, and hope others stay away.

Barly-Ly Chinatown Bar Restaurant in Philadelphia, PA.

By Ernestsworld |

Enjoyed another visit to the Bar-Ly Bar and Restaurant in Philadelphia, PA. Located in the famous Chinatown area of Philly on 11th St, near Race St. Had a great time listening to their juke box, while watching Philly baseball on 100 televisions. Big Thanks to Bartender Chris for a job well done. Ernest NY

Great sports bar

Met my sister and friends here , great bar. Plenty of choice drinks wise, menu pretty good. Not 3 course sit down but great price

Surprisingly Scrumptious Food and Great Prices!

By Jess S |

I showed up at Bar-Ly with a friend to meet some more people and join the Pub Quiz that was going on. I'm not a huge fan of sports bars. I don't mind the sports or the tellies. It's mainly because of the patrons and sure enough there was a huge table of overly well coiffed men in well ironed pastel shirts and suits that were just on the too tigh side... You know what I'm talking about. They all kind of look alike and they're very loud because they're sure that everyone must want to know what they're talking about all times. So I admit that upon arrival I was wishing I had pled off with a migraine or something... I sat down at the table nevertheless and luckily the new friends that I was meeting were entertaining enough for me to overlook the obnoxious table. The pub quiz started and I think that they were screaming out wrong answers as a joke which wasn't funny. At least I hope that was the case or maybe they just *really* didn't understand the way it works. Regardless, I think that they left after a dismal first round and went somewhere else. After that, it was clear sailing! The menu is varied and interesting. I ordered the shrimp dumplings and the pad thai because from the prices I assumed that the portions would be tapas style. WOW! Was I wrong! The pad thai was absolutely delicious and it was enough to feed two adults. The 6 full size dumplings were freshly made and mouthwatering. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was upbeat. I admit that it took a bit of patience waiting for the food to arrive but it wasn't sooo long that it felt irritating. Just sort of the"Hmmm, when did we order?" kind of slow and then it was there. The pub quiz was a lot of fun. It was well curated to have questions for all age groups so that no one felt too dumb! It helps that we ended up winning, too. Seriously though, pub quiz lover or not, make it a point to stop by Bar-Ly. Amazing food, ridiculously fair prices, freindly people. What more could you ask?

Friendly bar + good food

By DuffinFamilyBris |

We went as a group of 6 including children. Sports showing on a vast number of screens. Great selection of beers and a wide range of reasonably priced food options with good portion sizes. What's not to like?

Fun spot

By Cmf719 |

I have went to this bar twice. Once was in the winter with a large group of people. We had a fun time. There is an extensive beer list, most IPA's. I am not that into the IPA's so I enjoyed a glass of wine (which my friends were sure to make fun of me for). There are tons of TV's if you are interested in watching a game. I also went there recently around happy hour with my boyfriend. We sat at the bar both times. The service was decent. I ordered the cheesesteak spring rolls and they were very good. I would definitely go back, but not for happy hour.

Finally! A great bar in Chinatown.

By Lou S |

60+ beers on tap. I'm a fan of Belgian Abbey Ales, which they have, but their draft list is varied and extensive. They also make some fun cocktails. Lots of screens to watch sports. Very friendly staff. Good food, great variety of Asian food and standard bar fare. I like the Sriracha wings and Udon Noodle soup. The ribs are a great deal. Sun-Thur there's a 2nd happy hour starting at 10pm. When you get there, tell them Lou from upstairs sent you.

AISTECH

By Jeff C |

Good variety of food and beer. Lots of screens for sports .Wasabi dumplings among, General Shanghai beef very good

Not bad

By Ceames11 |

My husband and I stopped in here for late night drinks and munchies. There was a pretty good selection of beers, but I wasn't too impressed with the menu. I'm not picky, but there just wasn't a lot that thrilled me. We ended up ordering a couple flavors of wings, and they were ok. The best thing about the place was the service. We sat at the bar and had great and friendly service from the bartender. I would go back and give it another try.

Good selection of beers.

By Chris E |

Went to watch some hockey playoff games. Lots of screens so we could watch several games at once and the staff was good about getting the games we wanted on several screens. Lots of beers on tap to choose from (several dozen). I also had the Cheesestake and it was very good. I would go back.

Excellent philly sports bar

By Chris |

Great little bar. Staff very friendly and some really good beers (well recommended by the bar staff) and food. Nice vibe for the college games

Come for the beer selection

By Danno251 |

Stayed in in Chinatown and was ready for some “not-Chicago near, so I popped into Bar-Ly. 60 beers on tap, including nationally recognizable micro-brews such a as Bell’s, Goose Island, Great Lakes, Lagunitas, Ballast Point, and Yuengling’s. Also have some nice international selections on draft such as Chimay, Spaten, Stella, Hoegaarden and More. Something for everyone! And, oh by the way, I had a salmon burger and it was pretty tasty, too!

Great sports bar at the edge of Chinatown

By Ed B |

Stopped with a group of friends to pre-game before dinner. Lively mixed crowd and friendly staff. Screens everywhere and a great beer selection. Very walkable from Convention Center.

Deserving recommendations

By HowlnBubba |

I saw recommendations of this bar in several places, and it was recommended by our nearby hotel as a nice, quiet bar. I like quiet, as long as it isn't dead. This is a nice, attractive bar with a low noise level despite the three sports TVs, 60 beer taps and plenty of customers. It was a nice stop for a late night drink and, while we weren't hungry, they have a nice menu of pub grub and then some ("Intercontinental bar food"). It isn't bland, but it is also the type of bar where almost anyone would feel welcome. Service was quick and pleasant. All recommendations were well deserved.

Bar-Ly Good!

By PhillyGirl2013 |

Bar-Ly has 60+ beers on tap. From Belgian Abbey Ales, to Coors light! Great fun cocktails. Lots of TV's to watch sports and other shows. Very friendly staff. Good food, great variety of Asian and standard bar fare. Their seared Tuna is fantastic. They have a daily happy hour 3-6 pm and Sun-Thur there's a 2nd happy hour starting at 10pm. Located right a crossed from the Convention Center at 11th & Arch streets

Atmosphere Service

By Traveler |

We ordered a Philly Steak in Philly average. The pumpkin beer was great. The atmosphere and service was outstanding. Trivia with cash prizes and excellent customer service at the bar. Chris did a great job! Will return before we leave to try the soup.

nice place to watch a game

By Mark L |

not all tables are located near tvs. there is a whole wall of tvs - 12 so if you can get a seat near that... good asian eats. dumpling are good and spring rolls tasty!

A gem of a bar not known by many.

By sobdude |

Nice decent place to watch a game or just hang out. Food is great and something there for everyone. Good beer selection. Shots can get expensive, but the sizes are large too.

Late Night Food at a Great Price

By Alexander |

Spent quite some time on a Saturday evening after a sporting event looking for food, specifically the famous "Philly Cheese Steak." To my party's dismay, everywhere we looked, lines were well into +1.5 hr wait and we were very hungry. A friend happened to find out about Bar-Ly and we realized it was very close to where we were staying. Walked over, were seated immediately, despite having a large party of 7 and despite the restaurant already being crowded. Ordered lots of food, including several appetizers and it was all well up to par. We did not have to wait longer than expected, the atmosphere was pleasurable, and our waitress was a step above the rest. Would definitely go back here.

Best Before-Train bar ever

By R_D |

Always make it here after a brunch stop or two (or three) in the city on a sunday. Drinks are all reasonably priced. Wide and varied food menu, and the bartenders are great.

Great bar super atmosphere and sport fest!

By ozweb |

If you want a lively bar in Philly go here, super range of draft beer and plenty of large sports on TV. Not sure we would recommend eating, we didn't and not many others did either. Staff also very welcoming and helpful. The best bar we found whilst travelling from Washington up to New York!

HAPPY HOUR SPOT

By NisaThai |

We stumbled upon this place and SO HAPPY that we did! This is the place to be for HAPPY HOURS! Great drinks! Their menu is amazing! They have everything here! Prices are great and the staffs were friendly and very attentive. My husband and I loved our drinks and food! We will definitely come back again!

Go anywhere else in Chinatown

By Morgan M |

If you’re looking for good food, go to literally any other restaurant in Chinatown. Me and my boyfriend ordered dumplings that tasted like cardboard, I couldn’t even finish them.

Good Sports Bar in Chinatown

By momarino143 |

To me, this place is not like typical Sports Bars, so diners and sports fans beware. Pro: more tv's and games on than you'd expect in a place. That is not huge. Ample viewing. Brighter lighting- not dingy and dark. Not crowded seating. Good (but not ample) menu -with eclectic mix, from spring rolls, to quesadillas, to Philly steak subs. Prices are reasonable. Vast beer selection. Very fast dinner service. Wait staff is experienced, friendly, effective.location is very near Convention Center. Cons: parking is very limited. Restaurant noise is very loud, even when place is not crowded.

Super Bowl

By 🛶🏕🍷🍸🍹 |

We hung out here for the Super Bowl and had a great time. Service was fantastic despite the place being packed. Food was good too! Great memories. Go Birds!

Ideal Spot for Sports & Grub

By huck22 |

We hit four sports bars in downtown Philadelphia during March Madness, and Bar-Ly was truly in a different league than its competition. Good layout with flat screens well-positioned for optimal viewing, strong alcohol list and surprisingly good food. The chipotle BBQ wings were some of the best wings I've ever had. Nice blend of food options, ranging from dumplings, rolls and skewers to burgers and pizzas. Definitely recommend for a Chinatown dining option, whether there's a game of choice on or not.

Good food, noisy as any other sports bar :-)

By BXC |

Not sure I would have gone there by choice, but I was invited and after all had a good experience. Nice selection of beers. Was a bit noisy for my ears, but after all, this is a sports bar...

Dead on monday night

By bruce p |

Went w a friend on monday night after a MNF Eagles game since it was close to our hotel. Was dead, only 2 other people in whole bar. Clean n modern though, drinks kinda pricey for a mid-tier bar. Service was avg at best, nothin great

Ernest goes to the Bar-Ly Chinatown Bar/Restaurant in Philly

By Ernestsworld |

I stumbled upon the Bar-Ly Bar/ Restaurant in Philadelphia's Chinatown. I'm glad I did, I had a great time. Bar-Ly, is a huge sports bar, with over 20 big screen TV monitors. The patrons were refreshingly diverse in this, The City of Brotherly Love. I ordered my first ever Duck Slider appetizer. It was Good!, but I'll stick with my Beef sliders. The prices were reasonable, and they have a jukebox. Thanks for your ease of conversation and hospitality Mgr.Curtis, Bartenders Sing, Robyn and Curtis2. Ernest NY

Good happy hour prices

By April Z |

Ordered the banh mi half slider (which was delicious) and Peking duck buns (also very good) and the happy hour tab came to a little over $7. You have to have a tab over $15 for credit cards, so keep that in mind. We also shared some chicken bites and fries (which was good but a small plate). Our waitress was also very nice and attentive. Would come back again for happy hour!

DINNER & DRINKS & BALLGAME -- ALL-IN-ONE

By Stew S |

Quick walk in Chinatown to BAR-LYs on 11th St -- wide range of eats on the menu -- wide wide range of IPA brews available -- lotsa TVs to catch the current sports stuff -- really enjoyed -- parking can challenge

American Vietnamese Cuisine

By Rhonda G |

Sports Bar.2 happy hour times we went to 330p-630p, nice selection of happy hour food very reasonable happy hour drink prices. If you like spicy I recommend the mango habenero wings and fries.also the forbidden appletini. The only downside for me some kind of way the restaurants calendar synced with my google calendar now my calendar is all Vietnamese.Other wise good food drinks and atmosphere

Dinner with friends.

By RoRo050600 |

The food here was all delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a late night dinner with friends after doing a prohibition pub crawl.

Great food and beer

By Tanya S |

We came after the parade and it was packed but we had great service and good food. We ordered tater tots, cheesesteak egg rolls, Cesar salad with steak, spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll, Udon soup with shrimp and chicken stir-fry. Great portions and excellent quality. Will be back 😁

Best find of the week!

By Kelly T |

Found this awesome place looking for somewhere to watch college football and it did not disappoint! They have many TVs to see whatever game you wanted and the food was great. Happy Hour specials on drinks and food and if you can get Trish as your server do it, her recommendations were spot on and she took very good care of us she was AMAZING! Salt and pepper wings were very good, had the Pho which I have never tried and it was awesome! If you get a chance to visit do it!

Great Bar and Restaurant

By Officerdee |

Fantastic find, a sports bar located on 11th and Arch, just across the road from the convention centre. The staff were excellent, the place was clean, modern and had a great atmosphere, the menu was very having a great choice it also had a good menu for the children. Portions were a good size and quality was also good. Only minor problem was the meals did not always come out together, and a few minutes delay can seem a lifetime for kids. Daily happy hour had a nice selection of beers and wines available. They also had a good selection of beer on tap. We enjoyed this place so much we returned twice for diner on our recent trip.

Happy Hour (Even on Saturday!)

By swheeler68 |

I was waiting for a friend to come into the bus station (one block away) and stopped into Bar-Ly. It was the best decision I could have made. It is a wonderful combination of locals and out of towners (like me). I was solo and made to feel right at home. The food and drink options are delicious and plentiful. If you are staying near within walking distance I would recommend stopping in. The happy hour menu has many many selections for both food and drink. The martinis are a must! The pizza on then happy hour menu says cheese but they will add pepperoni.

Must try the shrimp dumplings !

By VacayTimeGirl |

The two times I traveled to Philly, I ate at this place probably 4 times for happy hour! Love the food here! Great deals, nice and open inside.

A surprise in Chinatown

By Clark Grisso |

My wife and I came upon Bar - Ly while waiting for a show at the Trocadero, just around the corner. Excellent beer selection for a sports bar and a very nice menu of eclectic Asian fare. I had a Koean Bolgogi sandwhich with kimchi that was awesome! Very attentive and friendly bar service considering how packed it was. Worth checking out.

What a find!!!!

By TBS-Funtimes |

This was a recommendation from the concierge at the Marriott. Amazing selection of beer and some asian food for eats - for a reasonable price. Obviously a go to place for sports fans, as the place was jammed. I will certainly return.

ONLY Go here for Happy Hour Drinks, not FOOD

By Pete J |

Good prices on beer, mixed drinks and cocktails during happy hour. However, the food was subpar. For $3 you can get a spicy tuna or shrimp tempura roll but keep in mind, you get what you pay for. $3 gets you four rolls that were falling apart and mostly filled with rice. The calamari was also pretty gross but the sauce was its saving grace. The server we had didn't have a good knowledge of any beers on tap and forgot our order a few times. Like I said, come here for the $3 beers and nothing else.

BAR-LY Bar Restaurant revisit in Philly.

By Ernestsworld |

Revisited the Bar-Ly Bar and Restaurant in Philadelphia, PA. Great time at this spacious sports bar. Watched the Penn vs Appalachia football game on 30 TV screens. Great game, with loyal Philly fans. New York hugs to Mgr. Ali, Hosts Thia, Linda, & Bartender Jaime. Thanks folks!! ErnestWorld.

Sports bar in Chinatown

By 245randallc |

I stopped here to kill some time and sat at the bar. Good selection of beer with a typical sports bar vibe. The menu was a mix of American and Asian dishes.

Great bsr

By dutchy72 |

This is a great bar in Chinatown. It attracts the after work crowd and locals. Very friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Attentive staff and ok food.

Super happy hour!

By Gayle Y |

This bar/restaurant is located near the Philadelphia Convention center. It has a great happy hour daily from 3:30 to 6:30. For example, the 6 dollar house wine is discounted to only $3.50 during happy hour. Food choices were as low as $1.00 for a chicken skewer. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service. We will definitely return when in the area.

Great eclectic oprions

By Michelle A |

This place was an unexpected pleasant surprise that my friend and I came upon our first night in Phillie and liked so much we made a point of returning! The happy hour specials are awesome! Their blueberry beer is quite wonderful. Lots of vegetarian options. Nice staff. I had left my phone behind at the second visit and a staff member chased me down the street to return it!

Dinner and drinks

By DGoat |

This is a sports bar. Fairly good choice of beer okay food. Very loud, if yu want to talk much don't go here. If you want to watch a game and cheer, and drink and eat. Go here.

Come here to drink not to eat

By GeekHistory |

A large selection of tap beers with a very odd mix of food from typical bar room sandwiches and finger food to assorted Asian fare. The service was fair, the food was nothing great. If you came here to watch one of the sporting events on television it would be hard to enjoy it if they kept the music up so loud. We were there at lunchtime on a Saturday, the wall of televisions were showing assorted sporting events but the music was playing so loud you could not have a decent conversation with the people at your table. Every advertisement brags about the 60 beers on tap, I guess you come here to drink, not to eat?

Happy Hour in Chinatowm

By GiGi R |

Great selection of HH specials everyday from 3:30 - 6:30. $3.50 for 16oz Yuengling/$3.50 for other 10 oz Draft Beers.

Great for happy hour

By buztop |

The happy hour menu is a good value. Huge beer selection. The noise level was over 90dB - a bit too loud for me. I recommend the calamari- perfection!

Nice atmosphere

By Jeannine |

Large (long) bar with decent drink prices- $4.95 for Yuengling draught wasn't bad. I ordered a salmon roll for $4.94 and it was only 4 pieces with minimal salmon, so little I could barely taste the salmon! I also ordered a spinach, citrus, avacodo salad with walnuts and oil and vinegar. It was 7.95- very tasty and a nice size. The service was good and atmosphere nice, lots of tvs with sports. I would go back.

Belly Boys Approved ✌🏻

By Rob O |

Good sized portions. Excellent food and outdoor atmosphere. Really glad we got to hit this spot up when in Philly. Follow us at @theofficialbellyboys

Great service

By Hillrm |

I was looking for a place to get food, a few beers and to watch football on a Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia and I found this place. It is very nice with pleasant and efficient staff and plenty of TVs. I felt quite international sitting in what seems to be a Vietnamese place on the edge of China Town, watching American football and eating nachos. I recommend this place, the menu looks worth exploring.

Lunch and beers

By blackacre179 |

We were looking for a place to eat lunch and watch the Villanova game. We kind of stumbled upon this great sports bar in Chinatown in Philadelphia. While they have a full menu we both ordered Vietnamese dishes.!The food was great and the service friendly. Oh, they also had great TVs and a one screen that seemed to take up an entire wall. This was a great find!

Nice sporty spot to catch a drink.

By April |

Decent stop to grab a bite to eat and watch some sports. My husband and I wanted a bit away from our bickering kids so we walked over to Bar-Ly. Nicely staffed and friendly enough. We ordered some chicken and beef skewers, both had great flavor, but felt a little like jerky - dry and hard to chew. Also ordered some chips and quacamole/salsa. Chips came out warm and were delicious, had way more chips than dips but it was good. Beer requested by my husband was a hefeweizen, not close to what he was given, but it wasn't awful so he just drank it.

Bar food + Asian food

By Melissa Lallo Johnson |

This was a first for me and it was awesome. We ordered chips with guacamole, fried dumplings, California rolls (expensive at $4.95 for four small pieces) flatbread buffalo pizza (awesome and spicy) and drinks. It was cool that you could get both bar and Asian food. They have a lot of televisions. Very cool and unique concept.

Beers galore

By Petungsan |

Great place in downtown philadelphia. Screens all over the place good for any sports venue. They have...omg..I am still excited...60 draught beers. Loads of decent priced snacks on the menu. Special thanks to bu (super nice) and alley or alyn or ali..(she knows who I mean) who guided me thru 10% of the beers they had available. Definitely returning. Highly recommendable Cheers barly

Good spot for drinks and apps

By ronin308 |

This is a great little spot with a wide selection of beers on tap. Appetizers range from a standard hot dog up to duck dumplings (which are quite good). The place has more of a sports bar type vibe so if you're looking for hole in the wall type places this isn't it.

Great Find! Must Try!

By Randy M |

Found Bar Ly by chance and decided to give it a try. The service was great and the food was excellent. Very diverse menu featuring Vietnamese (and other Asian) foods, as well as the typical sports bar fare. Everything was served fresh, hot, and was delicious. The server kept our drinks filled and was proactive in making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I recommend giving Bar Ly a try when you are in Philly.

Great place..

By Bella8891 |

Called here for a few drinks around happy hour... Still there 3hrs later!! Great atmosphere & service throughout. There is ample seeking available. Although we didn't eat food the food coming out looked good, wholesome & hearty! I would recommend a visit - A very good find...

Hang out

By JerryB |

Great hang-out bar near the hotel I stay at for business in Philly. Get the kimchi pizza! The staff and service are good and lots of beer on tap.

This place was great

By Dave K |

The beer selection was great, the food was good and they offered a wide variety. I had 9 people with me and everyone found something they enjoyed. It was a bit loud and service was slow but that did not bother me on this trip.

Wonderful

By Brooke |

Bar-ly is a large, bright, fun place. We were there with friends and family to watch a college football game. With about 20 TVs, there wasn't a bad seat in the place. It was empty when we got there, but filled up throughout the afternoon. They also have 60 beers on tap, but those can get expensive after awhile. The beer I chose was $7 a glass. Most beers were in the $5-$7 range. We ordered a variety of food throughout the day - dumplings, spring rolls, salad, sweet potato fries, wonton soup, fried rice, burgers, old bay fries...all was very tasty! Service was excellent. I would definitely go back for another visit.

Great last stop of the night

By Diane H |

Bar-Ly was just around the corner from our Hotel, Sleep Inn, so was in an excellent location for us. Had a little accident with a glass, but the bartending staff were great about it! We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Unexpected Surprise

By Kim C |

Came in for happy hour on a Tuesday night. Busy. Menu has a serious variety of ethnic foods, but not overwhelming. Ordered edamame, dumplings, fries - oh my gosh the fries are good. Sweet potato AND regular. We had a good time.

Amazing selection of tap beers

By AliceB_NZ |

Bingo! Found a great place right in town that has, correct me if I am wrong, over 50 beers/cider on tap! The staff member we had serve us at the bar was knowledgeable, friendly AND enthusiastic. He helped us with choices of beers even giving us samples. We ordered some snacks too over happy hour, and found them all great! A very cool place for those that appreciate a good pint and snack!

Terrible

By Glen C |

Incredibly poor table service. Had 3 people coming to our table and they still couldn't get a beer to us in less than 10 minutes. Not crowded either. This place has one of those internet jukeboxes that plays the worst music you will ever hear when not being used by someone. Pop music that 14 year old girls listen to. The staff seemed to be arguing with one another the whole time and they all looked miserable. The wings I got were actually cooked ok. Not overcooked like most bars of this type throw at ya. So it wasn't a total loss. I would recommend going somewhere else.

Soup, sports, and beer, seems like a good combo

By kylerjalen |

Basically a sports bar with Asian/fusion type food. Chow was bit on the expensive side (but hey its a big city what do you expect?) but the food was delicious nonetheless. I had the fried rice and that was actually enough. Others in my party ordered the pho soup and noodles and other stuff. There was a game going on and it certainly added to the wonderful chaos of the place. Its not really a kid friendly place at night so be aware of that. Im kinda glad our group took a chance on it.

Great way to watch your fav sporting event

By raymundocastro3 |

Great sporting atmosphere. A nice place to watch a game in Chinatown if you need a change of scenery. Service was excellent as I never had an empty drink. She was attentive and on the hustle. I didn't have any food, but my overall experience was fun. Surprisingly, Philadelphia has some of the nicest people I have met.

Only place in Philadelphia that you can get Chinese and Vietnamese Happy Hour appetizers (as well as conventional sports bar ones like wings, finger food, etc.)...watch games on multiple screens and have a great time. Fun staff...owner knows his sports as do the bar regulars. Note: They'll be closed first 2 weeks of August to modify the keg room, so don't panic if you go by and they aren't open then.

Lively sports bar with many east coast craft beers

By SandJA_11 |

Recommended by our hotel staff, this friendly, lively bar is on the edge of Chinatown. Popular with locals it serves a very wide range of craft beers including local Yards brewery. Staff knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Service prompt and friendly. Lots of screens showing various sports. Good place to hang out for a couple of beers.

Good sports bar in Chinatown

By Angelo N |

With the majority of the restaurants I was passing in the Chinatown area only offering BYOB for drinks, this was a pleasant find with a very good tap selection and plenty of TVs for catching a game. The menu was an interesting mix of american and asian. The wasabi shumai was pretty good, though the serving was larger than I could handle on my own once the wasibi kicked in. Half shell oysters were fresh with plenty of liquid. Belgium triples were the taps that I stuck with and there was an ample selection to choose from. Walking distance to the Hampton Inn and the Convention Center.

quite a few changes...

first time back since the renovations..quite a few changes in the decor..walls opened out, tv's added, front door enclosed, security?!......a quiet friday late evening with a friend..expanded menu, we had cheese steak rolls and chicken bites...good drink choices, cold taps flowing...waitress was a bit too eager, young and friendly though...saw some of the same faces behind the bar as before...fun atmosphere, brighter and friendlier than before the changes

Great food

Stopped by for drinks and food. The chicken teriyaki was delicious. Great selection of beers and loads of tv screens to watch sport. Staff very attentive and friendly.

Good Late Night Stop...I Think!

By Joshb2j |

Was walking back to our hotel from another bar and saw some friends in here, so we joined them. Neat interior with a lot of TV's going. Good late night menu and prices. I had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It was too spicy for me...I think the chicken was literally tossed in Tabasco, so my esophagus paid for it the rest of the night. That was on me though, I should have tried something different. Everyone else enjoyed their food. Overall, a good experience, will be back the next time I am in the area.
