Great for sharing!

We enjoyed trying many different items off the menu and pretty much agreed they were all pretty good. Deviled eggs were good but nothing special. Beets were especially yummy as was the pasta. The lamb was good but again, didn't wow us. They have a small wine list with some trendy items like orange wine. Good drink offerings. I think the biggest improvement I would like to see is more comfortable seating. When you want to spend time sharing plates and visiting, it would be helpful to have some cushion!

Herbed Fries and Heirloom Tomatoes, Oh, My!

By VoixDuChocolat |

This neighborhood restaurant is trying to make people feel comfortable dining out. Their tables (indoor, at least) are far more spread out than you'd usually find, a thoughtful measure. The food here is also executed thoughtfully. The Herbed Fries & Aioli was an enormous bowl of very hot, quite salty French fries with two sauces for dipping (one was indeed an excellent aioli, the other might simply have been ketchup, but I'm not sure of that). The Heirloom Tomato Plate consisted of chunks of tomato, combined with mozzarella, pickled onion, and some bitter greens---a great mix of flavors and textures. We also had a Peaches & Ricotta Pizzetta, with applewood smoked bacon and more mozzarella (that pizza usually comes with kale, but we asked for it to be left off). We both felt that this dish was well-balanced in flavor and quite tasty, as was my friend's Shrimp Tonarelli, with its perfectly-cooked pasta. Drawbacks here? Yes, a couple. No salt or pepper on the tables, a pet peeve of mine, and it is very, very loud in this place. Note that there is also a bar in the restaurant, and there's outdoor seating o a patio. I'd certainly eat here again, but it is not a place for a quiet conversation.

Wonderful in every respect

We have been coming to PDX for years and in May we purchased a condo here. Our recent experience at Bar West was excellent. The food, the service and the ambiance were just about perfect. We were especially appreciative of their proof of vaccination requirement in order to dine inside. This is a fun place and one we will surely go back to.

Fantastic Brunch Spot

We had a terrific brunch last Sunday. There were the 4 adults and our two little grandchildren ages 4 & almost 2. Our waiter was a delight and the food so very tasty, large portions, and healthy! And as a I now eat exclusively gluten free, so much to eat! We definitely will be back. As an added bonus they have a parking lot so need to street park.
